This is an I-Heart podcast.
I'm Dr. Scott Barry Kaufman, host of the psychology podcast.
Here's a clip from an upcoming conversation about how to be a better you.
When you think about emotion regulation, you're not going to choose an adaptive strategy
which is more effortful to use unless you think there's a good outcome.
Avoidance is easier.
Ignoring is easier.
Denials easier.
Complex problem solving takes effort.

On the latest episode of Next Question with me, Katie Couric, I sat down with Jasmine Crockett,
Democratic Representative of Texas.
She's holding out the fork for her party in one of the most conservative states in the
Union.
I think that ultimately, who will become the Democratic nominee for president will be someone
that has been out there and has shown that they won't allow themselves to be punched and just
say thank you. Like, they will punch
back. Listen to next question
with me, Katie Couric on the IHeart
Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or
wherever you get your podcasts.
Why are TSA
rules so confusing?
You got a hood of you. I'm take it off.
I'm Manny. I'm Noah. This is Devin.
And we're best friends and journalists with a new
podcast called No Such Thing,
where we get to the bottom of questions
like that. Why are you screaming?
I can't expect what to do. Now,
if the rule was the same, go off on me.
I deserve it.
You know, lock him up.
Listen to No Such Thing on the IHeart Radio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
No such thing.
What's up, Bachelor Nation?
I am Joe.
And I am Serena.
And we are back for another episode.
Later this week, we are going to be chatting with Doughton.
We're big fans of Doughton, so you definitely want to stay tuned for that.
It's a great interview.
And yeah, before we get into recapping the episode, what's new?
What's new, Sabrina P?
Nothing much, nothing much.
Just traveling a lot.
I'm in Toronto right now, got my bachelorette party coming up.
Yes, yeah, I'm going to be in Chicago pretty soon.
So I'm excited about that.
And, yeah, we, any anything new in our lives, anything we can talk about here?
I don't think so.
We had your cousin's wedding.
We had your cousin's wedding over the weekend.
That was a lot of fun.
That was a lot of fun.
And that was our last wedding before our wedding, which was kind of surreal.
I mean, not that we go to like a crazy amount of weddings, but we've had two or three
weddings this year.
And to know that the next one that we attend is going to be our own was so crazy.
And I did.
Yes.
And I also wore a tie, a pink tie.
And I think subconsciously you calling out the guys in episode one for not wearing a tie,
made me buy a tie for the sweating.
I think it did too.
I think my comment definitely got into your subconscious
because I've never seen you really wear a tie.
But I liked it.
It was pink.
I ended up wearing like a purply pink dress,
which is kind of out of my comfort zone.
And I liked her.
It's about we looked super cute.
Yep.
I actually used to have to wear a tie in grammar school.
You know that?
I didn't know that.
I wasn't a uniform kid.
I went to like an arts high school
so we could wear whatever we wanted for the.
most part, but I feel like you would not have liked wearing a uniform as a kid.
I was, I didn't like wearing a uniform. I was a uniform kid throughout, even throughout
high school. I used to try to like sneak in like, like Lou Lemon like jogging pants, uh, for my,
for my dress pants, but it didn't, uh, it didn't really work. And you're still trying to do that
today. Still trying to still, still trying to do it. All right, let's let's get into it. Let's recap this
episode episode for location skamania am i saying that right scomania scomania scabania of course that's
not right skimania washington um beautiful it is right uh it's it's near oregon it's just like a very
pretty um state you know it's giving canada it looked really a lot like Canada like very a lot of nature a lot of
Yeah. The weather didn't look spectacular. Well, they were there. It looks kind of cloudy and gloomy, but very, very pretty. As much as they haven't traveled to Europe yet, I still love watching them travel just to different places, like seeing different fashion, different weather, different scenery. Yeah. I don't know. I thought about, I thought about that. I thought about that this episode when they went in Washington where I'm like, there's so many beautiful parts of the U.S. that we just, we don't really, we may not.
think of going or or see much of. So yeah, yeah, I liked it. And I think it's got to be near
when we go to Serena's families from her mom's side is from British Columbia. So we go out
to Lake Victoria, which is also very picturesque. Yeah, it looks a lot like the west coast of
Canada. Yeah. So, all right, we're there. We see the first, like the first point I made in
my notes is Braden is really having an hour of time. Can't
really. He's listening to the guys. He's not buying what they're saying, which I, you know,
I feel like we could all relate to that. Like, do you buy what they're saying? I think some of
them, listen, not, I don't think, I think, I think some of them are full of shit. And they may not
even know it. And then I think some of them are being, are being honest and real. I think
um, Braden is definitely coming, coming across kind of jaded now. Like he's just like,
really not buying into it.
Yeah, because some of what he's saying, like, we see Sean talk about, you know, like, how
this process is working for him and he has really strong feelings for her.
And, like, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.
And since we haven't seen a lot of their relationship, like, maybe they do have a great
connection, but, like, it is hard to take it as seriously as someone who's had, like, a one-on-one
date because I'm like, Sean, you haven't spent that much time with her.
Like, are you sure you're ready to get down on Wendy already?
Like, it's only week four.
but I do think it's easy to get cut off in the process
and hear all these other guys saying it
and just get carried away with your emotions a little bit
but then there are guys who definitely are getting there
and we see that going into Doughton's one-on-one
which we'll talk about more but I agree Braden
he's got to lean in a little bit
like he's got to try I just feel like he's at the point
where I'm like we've been trying to root for you
but I don't know how hard he's trying
And I think he's getting to the point where if he is trying, like, he's, he's tired.
He's getting fed up.
Well, we see that kind of later in the episode.
But yeah, no, I agree completely.
And then we have, so our guy, part of my top four, is, is Dotten part of your top four?
I don't think I put him.
No, I don't think you did either.
Did I not?
I had, I had Josh, John, I had Joey, and I had Aaron B.
So no, I didn't.
a huge miss on my part you're not looking good how many guys you even have left in that um i have
joey and i have aaron b so i've got two strong contenders okay i got all four so we're still
really do you have all four yeah i have joey dotton xavier and and tanner and tanner was
and he's still there he's still there and it seems like she likes him um yeah but let's okay
Maybe he's the sleeper.
Maybe he's the one that, like, next week gets the one-on-one, and, like, they have an amazing connection that we haven't been seeing.
There's always a sleeper.
There's always a sleeper.
So, Doughton gets the one-on-one.
They get into a yellow Jeep Wrangler.
You know, I used to have a Jeep Wrangler, four-door.
I think I knew that.
Wasn't it, like, your first car or one of your first cars?
No, no.
But I did.
I love a Jeep Rangler, and I just, that was one of the things I noticed other day.
cool car. It's a cool car. And it fit the setting very well. Yeah. So they go worse,
worst possible date imaginable bungee jumping. I would just absolutely hate every second of it.
You know what I was laughing at is they're really not filling charity in this season on the date.
Like this is the second or third day she showed up to him and like, I have no idea what's going on.
And she gets there. She was like, she basically was like, I don't want to do this. Like there's
definitely a reason they didn't tell her she was going to be going bungee jumping that day.
Yeah, but I don't think they ever. I mean, I don't think.
they ever let the lead know what date they're going on. I'm assuming they're probably like,
like, you know, get ready, like prepare them a little bit. Well, for her date with Xavier later on
in the episode, she definitely knew what was happening. But I thought it was fun that her and
Don both walked up and it was like a surprise for both of them versus her having to kind of
leave the date. It puts them on a little bit more of an even playing field. Yeah. Would you think,
would you like that day? Would you want a bungee jump? Absolutely not. I don't have any interest in
bunch of jumping or skydiving. My dad has a crazy fear of heights and my parents were always
pretty chill growing up and one of the like big rules was like, please just don't jump off
of anything tall. And I feel like that is like built within me now. And I just have no interest in doing
it. But if I was there and presented with the opportunity, I don't think I would, I don't think I would
say no, I'm not doing this. I think I would seize the moment and do it. But it does not compel me to
jump off a bridge and see if
the cord doesn't break. I don't think
yeah, I agree. I don't think I would have backed
out. I mean, and I have skydived before
which I think is a little scarier than
budgy jumping. I would just worry about
getting nauseous with bungee jumping, but
it's like, so
charity's freaking out, Doughton's
freaking out, but what
Dotton does, what any
good partner does is makes her
feel comfortable.
You know what? The way he was comforting
her, I actually, it reminded
me of you and I. Like when he was like, I'm freaking out, but then she was freaking out even more and
he was hugging her and he was like, it's okay. It's going to be fine. I was like, aw, it kind of reminds
me of me and Joe a little bit. Yeah. That is, so that is, that is something I do. Thank you.
Thank you for that for that compliment. I also received another compliment via email. I don't
know if you saw it yet. I didn't. Oh, wait. Was it the one about your acting in the maveling
commercial? My acting skills. Looking you. Just because.
come in an actor um so yeah so then um but date's going great and i they have um their little like
dinner one-on-on-one time after in dotten um we see him now opening up and he talks about which
when he comes out later this week we definitely want to talk about his aunt putting him up for a lottery
to get into the united states so i actually can't wait to hear more about about that story but
i don't know for me like watching them um and it's not boring
by any means, it just feels, it just feels extremely natural. It really does feel like we're
sitting in their private house, like, watching them. I agree. It feels supernatural. They're equally
very into each other, I believe. And Daughton to me comes across to someone who, like, went on
the show. He seems like a very normal guy, like was just kind of like, let's see how this goes. And,
like, he's someone who's really falling for this girl. And this process is really, really working for
him, I think, and he's like, seems a little, like, blown away by it all and blown away by charity,
which is just very endearing. I also feel like they've done a lot more, like, casual stuff
where, like, like, they did the pool day and now they're not doing, like, a formal date. They
did, like, the smores by the campfire. And I like watching that stuff because I feel like people's
guards really come down. Yeah. And I don't think, like, and you said, like, this process is, is working for
him. I, I don't ever really even believe the process has anything to do with it. I always just think
it's the person. Like, when you, when you actually, like, have that spark and you're really into
someone, regardless of the process, you're just kind of like, all right, like, I want to see where
this goes, you know? Yes. Like, I believe Daughton and Charity could have met in a variety of
different settings and hit it off. Like, I just feel like there are two people with a genuine connection.
Yeah, me too. And she said, we see her in her interview say, I, I'm chees and I haven't had this in a
minute and you could just tell that was just like so like real and that's just how she's feeling so
yeah she's a really expressive person and you could just tell how happy she is and you can tell
he's really happy too like I'm just so excited to watch where their relationship unfolds and
talk to him more about it when he comes on yeah they they're in love so yeah stay tuned um later this
week we will we are going to talk to that I'm dr Scott Barry Kaufman host of the
psychology podcast. Here's a clip from an upcoming conversation about exploring human potential.
I was going to schools to try to teach kids these skills and I get eye rolling from teachers or
I get students who would be like, it's easier to punch someone in the face. When you think about
emotion regulation, like you're not going to choose an adapted strategy which is more
effortful to use unless you think there's a good outcome as a result of it if it's going to be
beneficial to you. Because it's easy to say like go you go blank yourself, right? It's easy.
It's easy to just drink the extra beer.
It's easy to ignore, just suppress, seeing a colleague who's bothering you and just, like, walk the other way.
Avoidance is easier.
Ignoring is easier.
Denials is easier.
Drinking is easier.
Yelling, screaming is easy.
Complex problem solving.
Meditating.
You know, takes effort.

I think Democrats have, for a very long.
time allow Republicans to play them. So essentially, Republicans came up with a narrative and Democrats
decided to play into that. And that only hurt the Democrats. I'm Kitty Couric. Jasmine Crockett,
Democratic Representative of Texas, is not known for holding back. And our recent chat on next question
is no exception. But when you hear how she got to where she is, her intensity makes perfect sense.
it's just hard to imagine a world where you don't have enough people that care to do right by people.
And so that same passion that carried me through as a public defender that led me to want to change laws and thinking about the harm that will happen not just to my constituents, but just generally, like, I carry that weight with me because you've seen it up close.
Yeah.
Listen to next question with me, Katie Couric on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Imagine that you're on an airplane and all of a sudden you hear this.
Attention passengers.
The pilot is having an emergency and we need someone, anyone to land this plane.
Think you could do it?
It turns out that nearly 50% of men think that they could land the plane with the help of air traffic control.
And they're saying like, okay.
Pull this, do this, pull that, turn this.
It's just, I can do it my eyes close.
I'm Mani.
I'm Noah.
This is Devin.
And on our new show, no such thing.
We get to the bottom of questions like these.
Join us as we talk to the leading expert on overconfidence.
Those who lack expertise lack the expertise they need to recognize that they lack expertise.
And then, as we try the whole thing out for real.
Wait, what?
Oh, that's the run right.
I'm looking at this thing.
See?
Listen to No Such Thing on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Okay, let's jump into the group date in the woods.
What did you think of this date?
Well, the first thing I noticed was Charity's wearing a down jacket and a hat.
I'm like, how cold is it?
And I know it gets cold on the West Coast.
And then half the guys are wearing just like long-sleeved shirts.
So that was the first thing I thought.
I was wondering that too.
And also I'm impressed that you noticed that because all season you have not been noticing the weather and the fashion in correlation with the weather.
So I'm surprised you picked up on that because I literally was like moose knuckle is sponsoring this episode.
Like she's been wearing some killer moose knuckle jackets.
And Brayden isn't a long sleeve button up.
But even the guys that were like Braden's underdress, like he's trying to show off.
I'm like, you're only in a long sleeve in a vest.
Like you only have one extra layer.
Like you've got to be cold.
And Braden's all seats.
not just wearing a railer button up, it looks like a flannel, which they're usually warmer.
Really? I thought it was like a denim shirt. But anyways, I, I, I like that date, I would have much, I would have much more fun, like foraging for mushrooms than I would bungee jumping. Like, I actually like the date. And we, you know, they, they bring on the Girl Scouts for, for the comedic relief. And we, we're actually seeing more of my sleeper in the top four who is.
Tanner who was doing we're starting to see more his personality in his interviews um and i
will say that brayden him this was the first time he made me extremely anxious when he was
eating the random shit he was foraging that's just so yeah crazy to me i i'm super happy we're
seeing more of tanner because he was giving some really good interviews this episode that were
making me laugh but i feel like we're seeing that like contrast between erin b and brayden a lot
And on this date, like, Aaron B is someone that's taken this whole thing super seriously.
And, like, this date was no different.
Like, he took it really seriously.
Braden, on the other hand, is taking almost nothing seriously.
And he's standing up there eating these radishes that he's yanked out of the dirt.
Like, ew, Braden.
Like, what are you doing?
And Tanner was killing me when he was like, Brayden, do less man.
Like, the goal of this date was not to eat the food.
Like, if I'm her, I'm like, I'm not making out with you after that.
You have straight up dirt and bugs in your teeth.
I feel like Aaron B and Brayden, their intentions and the way they go about everything needs to just be morphed into one.
They has Aaron B.
Like they need to find somewhere in the middle?
Yeah.
Aaron B takes everything wildly serious.
And Brayden doesn't take anything serious.
And it's like if you guys just tamed it back just like two notches, you'd be great.
Like, it would be, um, and I just, yeah, they're just two very extreme people. And I, there's
nothing wrong with that. I just think that's really why they don't get along. Yeah.
I think that's a big part of it. But did you catch the charity called Brayden dumb?
Yeah. Yeah, I did. I thought that was so, like, not being to Brayden, but I just thought that
was funny because she obviously likes Brayden, but she was like just messing around with these,
like little children and and I think like regardless of what people want to say about brayden he
definitely has a sense of humor like the guy does have a personality I just think he he just needs
to to chill a little bit but he would probably like not eat not eat unwashed vegetables
well yeah it's found in the forest like he's eating mushrooms like these could be poisonous you
don't know yeah it's also extremely dangerous I'm I'm surprised they even let him do that but so
stressful um so Aaron B she ends up picking Aaron B um
for the kissing tree, they have like a nice makeup.
I'm just not buying charity in Aaron B.
I'm not.
I don't know if I feel like they have a strong connection.
I really, really did buy them after the first date.
And I do think there was a strong connection there.
I think it's just hard because we haven't seen the progression of their relationship.
Like, I'm just waiting to see someone on one time with them that like really feels like
they're connecting.
And maybe they are and we're just not seeing it.
And we were just seeing Aaron B.
Talk about Braden a lot.
But it's hard for me to like follow their love story and feel like it's serious.
Like their relationship is getting serious.
Do you know what I mean?
Yeah, 100%.
And I feel like watching it now like it's hard to take Aaron B out of like he because he kept calling himself her protector.
So for me it's hard.
Like it's almost like he's giving me like older brother vibes.
And it's just hard to see like any, any like true like romance.
in that. But I don't know, maybe it maybe as time goes on, we'll see that. And like that can be like a romantic
gesture to other people, you know, like being protective over each other. But it just feels. Yeah, she could be
into that too. I don't disagree with you right now. I think it could change moving forward if we see like
if they get another one-on-one or something. But right now I'm also struggling to see like where their
connections at. Yeah. And then we see. So then charity walks in after the date.
all the guys are sitting there and this is when um she pulls brayden and has that has that
went on to one time with brayden he talks about he packed his he packed his bags twice and at this
point like i've i'm and like i said we have braden on this podcast i like him um but at this point
he just like he just can't be there like he just doesn't he doesn't want to be there and he's
clearly like i i'm not saying that he's not into charity but clearly she's just not the one for
him because he's just like kind of not willing to go through this process. Yeah, like I think they
did and like, like, I think they had a connection the whole time, but it's not going to work because
this process is not easier and natural really for anyone, I would say. So you have to be willing to
like really try and lean into it. And like I can relate to Braden a little bit like it felt super
uncomfortable for me at times. But like I had a connection with the lead on my season.
And so you lean in and you try to, like, see if that can go somewhere.
And I feel like he was just so resistant.
And I think it got to a point where she was also just like, this is not going to work for us here.
Like, you are not giving it your all.
And he was like, I can't give it my all because this is so weird for me.
And it was just like, it was just not a fit.
Like, I think it's for the best that they went their separate ways.
Yeah.
And it's unfortunate, too, because she, she expresses in her interview, like, it's so aggravating.
like he doesn't even know like he's he's one of the guys like he's one of the main guys I want here
and yeah it's like I don't know when you're going on the best she really tried I think she really
tried to help him to make it work because I think she was into him and I think this episode we
really just saw him reach his breaking point with all of it yeah so brayden leaves and we know once
he leaves it's not going to be it I was surprised I thought that was it I don't know why I really
really fell for his exit as a permanent exit.
Yeah, yeah.
I, uh, yeah, I mean, probably me too, but then like, I don't know.
I, I felt like we saw certain things in like the, the, the, up the season trailer where I was like,
I know he's coming back.
That's true.
So then she goes back, um, and now it's like, the, all these guys are great.
We got the music playing.
The music played with Joey's make out, which makes me think that a little relationship is a little more serious.
Uh-huh.
Um, and her and Joey are very cute together.
Yeah.
And regardless of Aaron B, getting the, the kissing tree, Joey steals the, the rose.
Um, so Joey's up there right now for me.
Me too.
I think him and Dotten really shine this episode in terms of chemistry and connection
with charity.
Yeah.
I think I, we could definitely say those two are going to top four.
I think so.
I think so, too.
Um, so that's kind of it.
Braden leaves, Joey gets the rose.
And then I've been waiting for this.
There's another guy on my top four.
Xavier gets the one-on-one date.
And I will say, I think going into this date, I think that charity was potentially sending him home from the day.
Yeah, I do.
I think she, well, we see it too because she says it multiple times, like, this guy reminds me so much of my ex.
Yes. And I think, and like I don't want to put words in her mouth, but it felt like she was basically being like he gives F boy energy. Like he's giving like, I'm good looking. And like he's obviously like a catch. Like the dude is getting his PhD. He knits. He's good looking. Like he's got the whole package. He seems to have like some games, some swag. Well, he was definitely like even when they were walking through that market, he's definitely flirting with her a lot. And like,
Like, I was almost at a point where I'm like, Xavier, like, you're in already.
Stop hitting on her.
Like, you don't.
Yeah, he kept, like, flirting with her and calling my chair.
Like, it was as if he was trying to pick her up.
Yeah, I know.
I was like, you're in the relationship, dude.
It's okay.
Yeah, like, you're good.
You're good at this point.
Like, like, take his step back.
But yeah, and I think she felt that too for sure because I think he was, he was done.
In my opinion, he was going home up until the dinner day.
Wow.
That's interesting.
I wonder. Yeah, I wonder because I think considering she basically said like she had a really bad experience with her ex, saying he reminds her of her ex is not a good thing. Like I think she's like, I don't know if I can get past this. Like even if he's not at all like my ex. Like he reminds me of someone who I did not have a good relationship with. And like that would be very hard to get past.
For sure, for sure. And then we see him open up more about.
himself his life his job his um his mother was diagnosed with ms which is just so sad um
and you you just like i in my opinion i felt like charity finally like let her guard down
with Xavier during that during that time um and yeah i think she's i think she really likes him
yeah i think she likes them too i think the day portion it kind of looked like it was very like
fun and flirty. And I think the night portion, he really showed how much depth he has to him.
Like, he's clearly got a lot of love in his heart or his family and the people in his life.
He seems compassionate. He, like, really opened up and was honest with her and, like,
kind of gave her that reassurance that I feel like she needed to hear from him to get past her hesitation.
So I don't know. I like him. Like, I want to see more of him because up into this point, we haven't seen a lot.
And I did enjoy watching him on the one-on-one date. So hopefully we still.

and thinking about the harm that will happen not just to my constituents, but just generally.
Like, I carry that weight with me because you've seen it up close.
Yeah.
Listen to next question with me, Katie Couric on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts,

Be too
Oh wait I want to point something out to you
Because I noticed it especially on her day with Xavier
And tell me if you noticed
And if not you're 100% going to know
notice it as you continue watching this franchise this season. I feel like every lead, but
specifically Bachelorette always have like something they say. Like Gabby's was yeah.
You know, she was like, yeah, yeah. Charities is no way. She said no way like seven times this episode.
Like anytime she just want to do something, she's like, no way, no way. Or she's excited. Like that is
her, that's the girl's catchphrase. So like take a look. No.
Next time we do our recap, I want to see if you watch, if you see it or you hear it.
Now I'm going to notice it for sure.
Yeah, you can't.
Once you notice it, like once I noticed it, which is at the beginning of the episode when they went bungee jumping.
Yeah, no way.
This is not happening.
Like that was what she was saying.
And then going through the rest of the episode, I couldn't not notice it.
But it's cute.
I like it.
I love when they have like little catch phrases.
All right.
I'm going to pay attention.
Um, so she's, so Xavier, Joey, they're.
whole fucking good and then we get to the cocktail party and what does she do she shows dotting a baby
photo of herself to make no it was so cute like that's like just like the side of like like if i'm
if i'm in this situation and i'm dot and the lean comes up to me and shows me a baby photo of themselves
i'm like i'm in i got this i always think it's a tell tale or a telltale or a tell
tale. I don't even know if that makes sense. I think it's Heling when the lead goes out of their
way to like do something special for one of the contestants, which we've seen her do with Dot
and like taking him to like private areas to have conversations. And now she's like bringing
little pictures. I just think it makes it even more obvious that she's into him in a good way.
Yeah, I think so too. And then we see her, she takes a little, this is the first time we actually
see her like pull Tanner to the side and he gets like a little adventure.
little makeout session and then we see john i know tanner's finally coming out of the woodworked
i feel like we haven't seen him at all this season and he's like seems like a great dude i'm happy
to see more of him yeah i don't know if he ends up with charity i feel like he's definitely he's given
me um like a guy that people will will go after in in paradise i agree with that for sure
yeah also i feel like they were playing like the everything's calm and happy music break
Braden's gone.
We're all so happy, like this montage of cute interaction.
So I was like, okay, either something is going to happen.
There's going to be a new villain in the house or this is the moment we're going to see
Braden again.
Yep.
And what happens?
John B.
has is the nice guy.
He seems like the nicest guy in the house is having his conversation and watch Braden.
It's flip flops.
Yeah.
Like, Brayden, come on.
Like, dress up a little if you're going to crash this cocktail party.
The thing with him coming.
But when he came back, I'm like, I hope you're here trying to stay because I want to see it.
I want to see it for good TV and I want to see what she says.
Well, yeah, also her and John were making out.
But Braden didn't, Braden did wait till they were done making out.
Their reaction was incredible.
It was so priceless.
Like he's just standing in the room in the shadows while they're making out.
John sees him first.
He's stunned.
And then Charity saw him, but it's like it didn't.
fully compute right away who it was and then she was like oh oh like oh my god yeah so he but he doesn't
really he just kind of says like i'm sorry for the way i came off i was hoping that he was going to
try to stay um and he is just kind of like yeah like i'm sorry for the way i came off this didn't
work for me and i'm out again so he was again i have mixed feelings about him coming back
because on one hand i get that like in the real world if you want to have another conversation for
close your purposes like you have the freedom to do that like that's not uncommon for people like
after a breakup to like have another conversation I guess but in this environment like if you're
going to come back and interrupt her evening with guys that she's still dating you better have
something to say like you better be either trying to come back or like have something that you like
just can't leave without not saying like I feel like he basically just wanted to like put a bow
on their last conversation and I was kind of like I don't know if I was charity I would be like
this didn't really need to be had like I think he wanted to have the conversation which I can
sympathize with but like he had to expect it probably wasn't going to go over great especially with
the guys yeah and I think charity handled it well I think the guys like they you know they were
like I'm like it's not your fault just like I know it's not my fault yeah it kind of I mean like
the guys like yelling at him when he was already on the bus just was
like whatever like I know they're aggravated but it's kind of like while he's going so what's the
point it was funny I did make a note when all the guys were talking then then he leaves and all the guys
are talking and John B's like guys if you don't mind I want to get the first conversation and everyone's
like yeah yeah no problem man and then and walks Jesse Palmer he's like yeah conversations are done
let's go row ceremony wrap it up I felt bad for John B too because um
he was the one that got screwed over the most like he's the one who got
interrupted like mid-makeout with her by brayden so he was obviously the one who's like
i would like to have a conversation with brayden like it's kind of between me and him like i'm
the only one that got really affected by this and the guys were like yeah yeah no problem man
and then everyone just like was bombarding brady to the point where john was like guys
come on like this is my combo like they were not letting him speak like everyone just wanted to like
let out their frustration on Brade and Bray's just sitting on the bus, like, I'm trying to go home.
Also, what the heck?
It's usually like a black SUV.
He was in a full-blown party bus.
Yeah, I know.
I was like, where'd this party bus come from?
Like, why is he in a party bus?
It's huge.
I was like, how many people are in here?
Yeah, that was, yeah, I found that interesting.
So, yeah, then that's it.
really we we ran john b really got just steamrolled this episode wasn't the best for him um he didn't
get a rose the cowboy guy didn't get a rose michael from chicago didn't get a rose all three guys
are giving me paradise five so all i i can't see i think every single one of them will be there um
then then we see we see any thoughts on the guys leaving or who left all made sense yeah i think
everything made sense there wasn't any major surprises
I wasn't sure if Tanner was going to stay or go.
He was the only one.
Like, I couldn't decide.
How about Sean?
Sean, I don't think they had a super strong connection.
I think he thought they had a super strong connection.
Well, Sean's there still.
Wait.
Oh, my God.
Why did I think he went home?
Because I thought he was going to go home and then he didn't.
Yeah, I thought he was not going to get the rose.
And John B was and she went Sean over John B, which I feel like she likes.
Yeah, no, it was John B.
Michael and Caleb.
I don't know why I just thought Sean was in that.
Sorry, Sean, if you're listening.
Yeah, I think Sean's, like, I think she likes, I think she really liked Sean.
She's, she's keeping him around for sure.
I don't know.
I think, I think, I think she likes him, obviously enough to keep him around.
But I feel like, I don't know if it's more friend vibes or just like fun and flirty.
I've yet to see any sort of like.
I think it's fun and flirty.
I think she just has, has fun with them.
And like, it's probably hard too because a lot of the guys are.
taking it very serious so he's kind of probably like a breath of fresh here i feel like he's
taking it really seriously i feel like i've heard multiple times and be like she's my wife i'm like
wow sean what yeah but he also he also just kind of gives me like like he's he just comes
across like he's kind of funny like i could just see her like laughing and and having fun with him yeah
they dropped the they did drop the trailer for um they dropped like the mid-season promo though like
that we're halfway through, like, here's what's to come the rest of the season.
This is my favorite promo ever.
I always get so excited for midseason promos.
Did I fall for?
Doesn't it seem like her ex-boyfriend comes back into the picture?
Yes.
Or am I just see them now?
Okay.
No, it does.
But I don't know.
They didn't give any, like, hard evidence that that is who's coming back.
But, like, the way she's reacting makes it seem like it's someone she doesn't want to see from her past.
It's probably just her brother.
I was literally going to say that.
I bet you it's her brother.
Like the music is just changing my whole reception and it's literally just Nehemiah.
Don't let the music from the from the episode fool you.
We fall for it.
We fall for it every time.
All right.
I think that could.
I think we just recap the episode.
I think that wraps it.
Anything you think we missed?
I don't think so.
I mean,
I can't believe there's only so little guys left.
I mean, what is there seven now?
Yeah, something like that.
Which is crazy.
The season's flying by.
Yeah. All right. Well, that is, that is an episode. Make sure to subscribe if you're not already because we are dropping our exclusive interview with Doughton later this week. And we are going to hear more about his story later. So please check it out. Yeah. Bye. Bye.
I'm Dr. Scott Barry Kaufman, host of the psychology podcast.
Here's a clip from an upcoming conversation about how to be a better you.
When you think about emotion regulation, we're not going to choose an adaptive strategy
which is more effortful to use unless you think there's a good outcome.
Avoidance is easier. Ignoring is easier. Denials easier. Complex problem solving takes effort.

On the latest episode of Next Question with me, Katie Couric, I sat down with Jasmine Crockett,
Democratic Representative of Texas.
She's holding out the fork for her party in one of the most conservative states in the union.
I think that ultimately, who will become the Democratic nominee for president will be someone
that has been out there and has shown that they won't allow themselves to be punched and just
say thank you. Like, they will punch
back. Listen to next question

Why are TSA
rules so confusing?
You got a hood of you. I'll take it off.
I'm Manny. I'm Noah. This is Devin.
And we're best friends and journalists with a new
podcast called No Such Thing,
where we get to the bottom of questions
like that. Why are you screaming?
I can't expect what to do. Now,
if the rule was the same, go off on me.
I deserve it.
You know, lock him up.
