When I was 14 years old,
I was kidnapped and held captive for nine months.
I survived, and I've spent my life exploring
how other people survive what should have destroyed them.
I'm Elizabeth Smart, and these are the Survivor Files.
I just remember this low, taunting voice
next to my ear saying, shut up, don't say anything.
Every week, I'm with survivors who live through the unthinkable.
I knew if he woke up, without a doubt, he was going to hurt me.
I started feeling that there was someone at the end of my bed, and I just started screaming.
They are abducted, stalked, controlled, and nearly silenced.
But these aren't stories about what's taken from them.
There's stories about what it takes to make it out alive.

Dear honies, this is goodbye.
In February of 2024, celebrated illustrator and children's book author Patra Mather's and her husband Michael
mailed letters to dozens of friends and family members to let them know that they had died
by suicide.
By the time you get this letter, both Petra and I will be dead.
Next stop, Wonderland.
Patra and Michael were by all accounts healthy, happy, and in love.
Why did they do it?
And what did it do to the people they left behind?
I would have given a million reasons to not leave this world had I known.
I keep coming back to I truly hope that Petro was a thousand percent on board with the plan.
Do you think of him as having killed her?
Yes, I do.
I hold Michael responsible from my mother's staff.
I'm Leon Naples.
And I'm Alice Gregory.
Together we set out to interview everyone who got one of Patriot and Michael's letters,
as one married couple trying to understand another.

Hello, everyone, and welcome back to Bachelor Happy Hour.
I'm Rachel, and today we are here with our former Bachelor Grant.
Grant, welcome back.
It has been two years since your season filmed and a while since we've heard from you,
so we're very happy to have you back.
Been a while. It's been a while. It's been a while. But life is good. You know, I'm happy and, you know, it's good to be back.
There's been some changes in your life. For sure. You recently moved to Los Angeles.
Yes. Yes. Tell us about that. Man, the traffic is crazy. But other than that, I love, I love L.A. It's cool. You know, I'm definitely going to extend my stay out here.
Good restaurants, good people. I met a lot of good colleagues and friends. And I'm just having a good time. I'm enjoying life.
So you are living in Houston and you coming to L.A. for a year. What made you want to come have a little stay in Los Angeles?
Angeles. Honestly, I just felt like coming out here, just seeing what what the scene was like.
And I remember at the time, I was one of my good friends, his name is Jimmy Spencer with Uninterrupted.
We were just talking and, you know, I decided to come out here just to see what was going on.
So, yeah, it was a good decision.
I'm glad you're here. What have you been up to work-wise?
It's a big adjustment going from being the lead to going back into real life.
Yeah, I kind of just hop right back into work. So I work with a pretty big firm.
and yeah I just hop right back into it.
I've been doing that.
Only difference is like the time in L.A.
Because I do everything based off of New York time.
So it's early.
I have to be up at like 5.45.
But I like it because my day is done earlier.
It starts earlier.
Yeah.
So what has it been like dating?
I'm curious.
And we can jump around a little.
But dating in Los Angeles is hard.
Yeah, it's hard.
You know what?
Especially when you're looking for something serious.
Like I feel like it's all about perspective.
But I feel like it's about perspective.
I'm really selective. You know, I know what I'm looking for. So dating hasn't been hard. It's just
finding, it's not hard to go on dates, but finding the right person is hard. You know if that makes
sense. I think we all experienced that at one point. So finding the right person. What are you
looking for now? And how has it changed since you've been on the show? It hasn't really changed.
You know, I think it's easy to like vibe with somebody or, you know, a connection. But I definitely
am looking for something, someone who's faith-based, I think that's big for me.
someone who's ambitious.
But as of right now, like dating is not the number one priority for me.
It's more about, you know, building my legacy and continuing to build my company and do that.
But if I meet somebody along the way, you know, it'll be nice.
But yeah, just, but I think the number one thing is faith-based.
I want somebody that's like that thinks like me.
So when we do raise our kids, it won't be any, like, coral, you know?
Yeah.
And do you want her to have the same faith as you?
Um, ideally, it's not like a deal breaker, um, but, uh, ideally like the same, not too extremely
different, you know?
And in what way do you want to raise children?
Like with faith?
I'm, I'm a Christian, so I, you know, I have, you know, traditional values.
But, um, yeah, I would like, I would like that.
But it's not like a, I'm not like this or the highway, you know?
It's just life is, is, is gray.
It's not black and white.
So where have you been meeting women?
because everyone that comes in the podcast, it's always either on a show, I feel like, or on the app.
Are you meeting anyone in person or where are you meeting women?
I'm not a big app person.
I did have Hinge before, but like I'm not on there anymore.
I just go out.
Like, I just go out.
Like, I don't make it a goal of me.
I was going to say you were probably the first person in a while who said they're meeting people in public.
Where are you meeting that?
I just will go out.
I'll literally go out by myself.
Like, I'll go to, I live right down the street from, um,
Delilah, like I'll go there sometimes, grab a drink, or, you know, maybe like the nice guy, or maybe I'll go to, like, a run club or, you know, I just, yeah, some, some places like that, go out with my friends.
My agent has a pretty big agency, so I go out with him.
But, yeah, I would say the hardest part about L.A. is just because there's so many short-lived, like, relationships.
I feel like dating is so for me, I'm more, like, selective.
So I really, I go out, but it takes a lot for me to, like, really lock English and stuff.
Yeah. What is it like dating as a former bachelor? Do you lead with that or when do you tell them?
I don't really tell people like if people if it comes up in the conversation, I'll say it, but I don't leave with that.
I don't I don't leave with that. I feel like that's like I feel like it's kind of odd to lead with that.
But if somebody asks like I'll tell them like why why I'm in LA, I'll go into the story of how I came to be in LA.
But I typically don't bring it up.
Have you ever met or dated anyone that's senior season?
I've talked to a couple people that have seen my season.
Like seriously dated?
No, I feel like, no, I haven't honestly.
No?
But like talking or, you know, being out, you know, I've ran into people.
Yeah, you bring it up occasionally.
So going off of dating and since there's been a little bit of time, your ex-fiancee, Juliana, has recently gotten engaged.
Yeah.
What are your thoughts on that?
Honestly, I'm happy.
for her. Like, I think that, you know, that's the best situation. I'm happy. I know she was looking
for something super serious and I'm glad that she found it. And, you know, ultimately, you know,
as time goes on, you realize that you're not as compatible, you know, this, it was a little
a little off, but I can, I have nothing, but I'm, I'm happy. Like, you know, we're both in really
good places in our life and I'm glad to see she's happy. Yeah. In what ways were you guys not
compatible because to the audience? It looked like you guys had rainbows and butterflies.
and everything going for you.
Yeah, well, chemistry and compatibility are two different things.
I think in a long-term format,
we just went about life differently, our philosophies on life.
And, you know, I'm more of like, I'm not going to say a risk-taker,
but with my business, she just wanted something different.
And I know, from what I know, she knows what she wants.
She's really headstrong on that, and she found it.
So it's like, but for me, yeah, just certain areas we weren't,
we weren't really that compatible in.
But like I said, I'm glad she found it.
person you know we're going to have to talk about obviously what are the different life philosophies you
didn't agree on um man it's been a while i think i remember we had a conversation and you know my my
philosophy i'm just like you know whatever you want to do if you put your mind to it you can do it
like that's how i got into my business and i take risk calculated risk but like i think she was more um
safe like more um like she knew what she wanted me i'm a little bit more like um i'm safe too but
But I definitely am like, I'm a little bit out there, you know, like a little bit more of a risk
taker, a little bit more of, you know, you only live once.
So for me, I think that was the biggest thing.
And we just couldn't agree on certain things.
And she's very family-orientated.
Like I was, you know, I remember I was willing, I was going to move to Boston.
We're looking for apartments.
But I just think that we just didn't, it just didn't align.
In order to be with somebody, there's a lot of areas that have to intertwine.
So we were missing, like, if there was 10 areas, we were missing, like, at least eight.
You know what I'm saying?
So I just think we weren't.
in the long haul it wasn't it wasn't gonna work you know but i tried you know you were gonna move to
boston yeah i was gonna we were apartment shop i was gonna move to boston i was gonna move to boston i was gonna move to
boston and uh yeah i was gonna move over there but it just right before that we just ended it just
we just decided it wasn't it wasn't gonna work out you know how quickly after we saw you guys
did things kind of start coming apart a little at the seams it was like right it was like right
it was you know we the finale was so we got off to a bass
We got out to a bad start, you know?
And I think that when you don't know somebody for that long and you date on a show,
you take that time to get to know each other.
And we didn't, you know, we didn't have a lot of,
after the show ends you, I forget what it's called, but you meet up in L.A.
Happy couple.
Happy couple.
We had like, we had like four.
We only did like one or two of those, you know, because most of them were canceled.
And you only had one or two?
Yeah, I think it was a total of five.
We only did two.
And it was like, you know, we didn't get to, you know, and communication was just off.
Things were off.
So I think a lot of people looked at the situation and how the season ended and they could
understand why we didn't work out.
But like I said, the happy couple, you know, the more time you spend with somebody,
the more you get to know somebody.
And we just didn't develop that at all, you know, and like I said, two out of five happy
couples we only did two.
And she had things going on.
So, you know, she couldn't make it.
And yeah, that's what happened.
You know what I'm saying?
I'm curious because I remember at my happy couple, it's so jarring going from being on the show and having only some moments you can spend with that person to all of a sudden you're in a house for days.
And I remember being like, oh my gosh, do we even have that much in common?
Do I know this person?
It started to like make me question things.
Were you experiencing that as well or was it going good in the happy couple?
I can only speak for myself.
I can't speak for what's going on in somebody else's mind.
But I think there was a lot in the way, you know, I think, but from my perspective, I, you know, I tried to make it work.
I would have been, you know, because it's an engagement for me.
So, you know, it was our season.
I was the lead.
So it reflects, the decisions reflect based off of, you know, kind of what went on during the show and everything.
And, you know, I tried my best.
but I ultimately don't think that, you know, looking at who she's with now and then looking at me,
we're two different opposite ends of the spectrum.
So I just think that I wasn't, we weren't compatible.
Like that's really, I haven't thought about it for a while, but like it being brought back up.
I think that is what the ultimate, you know, thesis that I came up by.
We just were not compatible.
When you were watching the show back together, that's always really difficult.
Was that something that played a part in the relationship?
Because I'm saying from my experience, like we have a lot in common.
My ex-fiance, it was really hard for him to watch everything back.
And that definitely caused fights for you guys having something similar.
We didn't fight over.
Honestly, like I told her, I remember there was one situation where she looked at me.
She was like, motherfucker, like you say.
But like, I told her for the most part.
There's some things I probably didn't remember, like verbatim.
But there was only one scene.
I remember we were in Scotland and I was on the bench talking to another woman.
And I said something to her.
I was like right now because they were fighting her the other woman in Giuliana and I said I was like listen don't even worry about Juliana right now like but it seemed like I was like throwing shade but I wasn't I was trying to focus my attention on who I was with so she looked at me in that moment she was like like like like what was that about but I explained to her kind of I felt that was like the only real disagreement we had I think I think she really handled the finale well I remember the other big disagreement that we had um you know I I felt it was the best decision because to
To go from one extreme of like a really low point to a really high point, it'll ruin
the moment for you, you know?
So I didn't want her to watch the conversation between me and Latia because I felt like
that would have just ruined the moment and, you know, it was her moment, you know what I'm
saying?
So I suggested she didn't watch it and she was really upset.
She wanted to watch, she wanted to be there live and watch it, but I just made this, I just felt
like it wasn't the best thing because I didn't want her to go through that like up and down
of, you know, what I went through because it was crazy, you know, kind of, not that it ruined the
moment for me, but it was hard for me to enjoy the moment because I just feel like I just got like
reamed out on, you know what I'm saying? So for her to see that, it would have been difficult. So
she wasn't happy about that. So you're talking about watching this back at after the final
rose. Did she eventually watch it back? Yeah, she eventually watched it back. And we talked about
it. Whatever registered with her internally, she didn't express it to me.
that much to where like i would have picked up and known like okay this really really bother her she
never talked about it we've talked briefly but it wasn't like something that we went into depth though
we talked about it brushed it off and we were going through so much feedback and criticism and there
was so many things so many mistakes you know it's my first time in the public eye like that so
you get it mistakes were made and like we didn't we were kind of dodging bullet so we didn't
we didn't have time to like really sit back and process things you know what was going on i feel
like there were a lot of rumors online post after the final rows you guys were going on trips and
everyone was speculating you were broken up right what was happening post a if are you guys still
really good or is that kind of when you guys broke up i'm going to tell you guys the funniest story how
she actually met her fiance so i'm going to tell you guys so we had we had we were going through
the breakup and jason tardick and then reached out to me i was going to be with i was going to meet with i was
going to sign with the agency but i was like i was like like you know i have another agent like i'm
I'm chilling right now, but I gave Juliana Jason Tudder's number.
And I was like, you know, get some brand deals.
Like I'm cool.
Like, and then they invited her.
This is like our break going on on our breakup.
They invited her to a trip to New York.
And like, that's where she met her fiance.
And this was like right.
Like we're like right going on.
But I was like, you know, I didn't kind of know what was going on.
I was kind of in the dark.
But looking back, I'm like, damn, like, okay, the agency, that trip.
That's where she met him.
And then they ended up, you know, getting together.
So that was like a crazy. It's a crazy story.
Is he a part of Jason's agency?
I don't know. I think, I don't know. I really don't know. I just know that like connecting the dots, that's like kind of what happened. You know what I'm saying.
Was there overlap, do you think?
Oh, 100%. 100%. It wasn't like we had already discussed at the time that like, we had already knew it wasn't going to work. So it's not like any shade to her.
but like I took some time I was like you know what like but you never I didn't I'm sure that if I
would have met somebody like I probably would have been slower but I would have still like maybe
I don't know I don't know how I would have handled the situation but you know how long did it
take you to get over that oh it didn't I had been through a really rough breakup and prior to that I was
in a 70 relationship so it didn't you know I'm like 32 you know 32 you take a nap you're like
I'm over but no I just I just I just I'm just I'm just I'm sorry I just I just I'm sorry I just I'm
I was, it took me, I think because we had never really set a solid foundation.
It wasn't like the longest time.
I remember I flew out to Chicago to try to attend her fashion show to try, like, support her.
And then we had to talk.
We had a talk after that.
And then after that, I was like, okay, like, this is not going anywhere, you know,
trying to salvage whatever was left.
And then it took me, I'm not going to put, like, a number on it,
but it wasn't like my seven-year relationship.
It took me a year to get over that.
It took me a year to like really, you know what I'm saying?
So this one was shorter, a lot shorter.

Hey there, everybody. Amy Roboc and TJ Holmes here from the Amy and TJ podcast.
A lot of times the story of the day is what we're all talking about.
And yes, sometimes it's Love Island and sometimes it's Serena Robes.
Coming back to the U.S. Open, sometimes it's obsession, Odyssey and Spider-Man making box office
history. Oh yeah, House of the Dragon finale, we were there for it. And yes, whether or not
Bryce is finally going to ask Trinity to be his girlfriend, we want to know. Yes, these things matter.
Of course, we're not suggesting that the Love Island Reunion, which is at 9 o'clock Eastern
on Monday, August 31st, is as important as the war in Iran. But hopefully, Rose, people get our
point. So join us every day on the Amy and T.J. podcast where we're talking about what

Were you the one who ended it, or was it mutual?
It was mutual, but I think more on her, it was more on her.
It was more on her part because it kind of, you know, me as the lead, I was trying to
make it work.
I was trying to make it work, like I was trying to make it work almost to the point where
I think it was more her decision and then ultimately like I, I was like, you know what?
Like I can't, I'm not going to sit here and like, you know, so that was kind of how it happened.
Did you feel pressure as a lead to have a successful engagement?
Yeah, but looking back at it now, I was like, you know, there's no real pressure because
people are either going to like you or not regardless of whatever the outcome is, but your first
time on that stage, you know, and then me being.
being the second back lead, I did want to have like a successful, you know what I'm saying?
But not everybody's going to see it the same way.
And not everybody's going to care about it as much as you do.
So I'm like at the end of the day, everything happens for the good.
It's just, it's the place I'm at my life now, it was for the best.
When was last time you spoke to her?
Man, it was, last time I spoke to her was probably a little bit after the trip when I went out to
Boston for her fashion show. Probably I was like the last time. Been a long time. It's been a long time.
Yeah, yeah. Did you say or reach out about her engagement? Anything online?
No, that's not my place. You know what I'm saying? I wouldn't comment. You know what I'm saying?
I was happy when I saw it and I was like, it's not my place. You know, I just think that she's happy.
I'm happy. And that's like, you know, life goes on. Speaking of online comments, you love the comments.
You read a comment section. What is that mindset of going
through and seeing what people have to say and where are you now with that?
Man, it's a weird scenario because everybody wants to success and being liked are two different
things, right? And I feel like this experience, I told you, I've always been a mistake.
I've always been somebody who kind of, which has been to the benefit for a lot of things
in my life, but it's also a detriment. Like I said, life is not black and white. It's gray.
So for me, trying to be well received, you know, you get a lot of praise, but then the little, some of the hate, you're, you focus it on those. So I just feel like now at this point, like maybe I'll say something or joke around, but for where I'm from the city, like we throw jokes. You know what I'm saying? Like if somebody says something, I'm going to clap back or like, it's just the way, but not everybody, I learned in this experience, like everybody, which is going to sound so naive, but everybody has a different worldview. Like, where I'm going to be.
from we all majority you know we think similar to where you're where you grew up but you're in such
a large scale everybody has a somebody can think way different than you and you don't really see that
because you live in your own world so for me now when i see a comment of somebody that probably has a
bias of me or doesn't know me or like i just i may throw a joke it's still in me to like say something
back because i'm from the city but now i just let it i just like whatever you know what's your
relationship like now with posting and sharing your life after having
such a big platform.
Oh my God.
So prior to me being the show, I was, I had one picture on social media.
It was me and my car, I'm like, but.
That's the best.
I still, I'm not, I'm still, like, I'm still not good at social media.
I still, like, I don't really post as much.
Like, I may do it sometimes, but, like, it's not.
I'm more private, you know what I'm saying?
So, yeah.
What's your take on going live?
I literally just do, like, I think it's fun, you know, like, go live, have real conversations
with people.
um you meet so many different personalities i'm like i think it's you know i think it's fun like i would
go live all the time if you know i love when you go live and we get to see the comments after
what's been some of the funniest things you've seen post one of your live streams oh man there's
so many things i think people you know there's people on there to try to like me or like
people don't know i'm trying to yeah people that try to like but i don't think i think
people have different perspectives like most of the most of the lives people are talking about
dating or like their story with dating or like you know just having conversations I like I like
doing that I think being the lead it's like you have to do things so like it's hard because you have
to do things not that you have to but when you're in one thing I realized too is like when you're
in the public when you're in the public the less is less you do is better you know what I'm saying
the less you do it's kind of like you could be yourself but it one little thing people are
going to jump to conclusions for me I'm like fuck it I'm just going to be me but
I learned, you know, so live is different.
Like, I learned not to be as filter, but I still, you know,
still working my way through it, I guess.
Okay, let's talk, Bachelor.
Have you watched a show since you've been the lead?
I know sometimes people do and sometimes they don't.
No.
I knew you're saying no.
Oh, you're talking about from my season.
Well, have you watched Paradise?
Have you watched any of the golden season?
I watched, like, I watched, like, the first, when he got kicked off,
I was like, I was like, oh, man.
I was like, well, not, well, when he got, when he left, I was like,
But not really.
And prior to that, I hadn't really, I wasn't really accustomed to, like, The Bachelor,
I told you, my mom signed me up and it was like something that I wasn't really,
I'm not a big reality TV guy.
You know, I know Akeem loves watching reality.
He just watched, let's make, he watched reality TV every day.
I'm like, bro.
I have to ask, what are your thoughts on Paradise?
Like, as a whole?
As a whole.
Would you go?
I'm probably done with public dating.
Why?
Just.
I'm more private and for me I'm more focused on to step away from my business again
and when I have so much momentum, I think it would be hard for me.
You know what I'm saying?
But I would never going to say it would never be like a hard no.
I would have to be like sit down and talk and be like course like, yo like this would be the reason.
But for now I probably wouldn't.
I just like more private.
If you were to go, what would you need to see?
What do you mean from?
Grant, what do we got to do to get you on Paradise in the future?
Oh, there's nothing that you guys have to do.
You said if you were to consider it, you'd have to sit down and talk about, so what would you need to go?
Because you're on me and charities list for part of our Dream Paradise cast.
I think I would have to sit down and talk to, like, my family and friends, like what I went through last time on the show?
What would be the pros and cons and weighing at my goals and objectives in life and, like, what would be the reason for me going?
You know what I'm saying?
And then if it's like to find somebody potentially, you know, have a good time, go on TV,
like I probably you know but it would have to I would have to really sit down and weigh out my options you know
if you were to go are there is there anyone you would be interested in if you want to shoot your shot
i'm an open book i'm like i really i really don't you want names i swear i'm not like i don't know
i don't know i really don't know i would just be like surprise me you know surprise me whoever
whoever's there probably have a couple drinks talk to people
and there's not any i wouldn't go in there like with the a list a list or like an agenda just be me
would you ever date anyone from your season if they're oh man uh i'm never like i said i would
never say never it would just have to be like it would just have to be like a vibe you know
i'll have to like sit down and talk and it would be a different setting and you know i'm i'll never
say never to anything you know well i would say never to some stuff but to that i wouldn't say
Are there certain people that you wouldn't date and others you'd be more open to?
Yeah, there's for sure some people I wouldn't date.
Just because of like a difference in, not character, but a difference in our personality.
If Latia were to be there, what would be your thoughts on that?
I would have a conversation with Latia for sure.
I wouldn't I would never be like I would never not talk to somebody I think that a conversation to
kind of get we did talk in DMs like you know I apologize I was like for whatever she felt like was said
or whatever she's went through on the show because I know there's a lot of noise I just was like listen like
I apologize for making you feel that way you know it wasn't it wasn't intended and you know we came
to a mutual understanding so I feel like a conversation it would be cool you know what I'm
And as far as, like, dating, I don't know if, I don't know if we are aligned.
Like, I don't know if that's something that we, you know.
But Latia's beautiful.
She's a great soul.
And I think that, you know, I would definitely have a conversation with her.
When was the last time that you guys talked?
Oh, this was like, this was like six, seven months ago.
Oh, so recently.
Recently.
That's a while ago.
Sounds recent to me.
It's a while ago.
But, yeah, it was a while ago.
It was a while ago, for sure.
And that is when you apologized to her?
Yeah, that was when I reached out.
I was going to reach out.
And she took it with Grace and like she, you know, and we just kind of, I just didn't want to like, like, not say anything.
You know what I'm saying?
And have pride and be like, oh, why?
You know what I'm saying?
I was just like, you know, bite the bullet and be like, you know what?
Like, I apologize for what happened.
Because that's kind of a while after you see.
Then you took to reach out.
Is there a reason you didn't apologize sooner?
Just was.
Not that you needed or like, you know what I'm saying?
Is there a reason you didn't reach out to her sooner?
I just.
timing is everything, you know.
So I just give everything time to like settle down, you know what I'm saying?
There was things that I didn't agree with.
There were things that she didn't agree with.
But besides that, you know, just, you know, extending to olive branch.
I just didn't feel like it wasn't a time.
Okay.
Yeah.
So outside of dating, are there any other shows that you'd be interested in doing?
So I did have an audition for a soap opera called,
playing a part of the major family.
So that was cool.
I'm waiting to see if they're going to do a callback.
So we'll see.
Well, hopefully, that'd be my mom's dream.
If someone from The Bachelor, when I'm one of her soap operas, that'd be a dream.
But I'm telling you at this point, like, I have never watched a soap opera.
I'm on just like a side quest era of like just doing shit.
One of my agents is like, yo, just do this.
And I was like, fuck it.
Let me do it.
Are you an actor?
I could, a little bit.
I could do a little something maybe.
We'll see.
Like I said, I'm in an era where I'm just trying shit.
I was like.
Have you taken acting classes or it really is just a side quest area?
It's literally just a side quest.
I told you, I finished work at like nine.
So I'm like, I had the rest of the day just to do stuff.
So like I do that, you know, do a couple of things.
And we'll see.
Might as well go on a soap app, bro.
Might as well.
Might as well.
Fingers are crossed for you.
That's so exciting.
And it sounds like everything in L.A. has been good.
So we're all very happy for you.
So we're going to play a little bit of a game.
We are going to show you some behind the scenes photos that the audience has never seen.
and you are going to give us the background.
Let's do it.
Let's do it.
So this is a picture of all the guys on Jen season.
Yes.
I'm going to jump in and give you context for the story.
So this is right after night one when you guys had all gotten your roses.
It looks like night one the morning right in the rose ceremony.
Yep, this is night one.
And let's make sure we take a look at Grant's face.
I was going to say, Grant, why do you look so pissed?
I think, I don't know, might be caught off guard.
I was always like in the background somewhere just like lurking.
But shout out to my boy John, you know what I'm saying?
I think he just finished school.
Same with Dylan.
They just finished school to be a doctor.
So that's really, really dope.
And, yeah, night one.
Night one, wow.
It seems like it was, it seems like this is for so long ago.
But, yeah.
It feels like something's different in the air when you walk out of the row ceremony and it's
morning, but you haven't slept yet.
And everyone's kind of hung over and it just has a certain feeling.
Yes.
Oh, my God.
Night one.
And this brings, this is nostalgic.
It brings back memories.
So we filmed at a different.
You filmed at a different location.
Because you guys left for Australia the next day.
Yeah, we left for Australia.
Because I remember this, this is right before we,
this is right after we announced we were leaving to Australia.
So yeah, walking out of the mansion night one when this morning,
when you first go in there, you're kind of like on edge, everybody's like,
well, I do this for living.
You're excited.
You know what I'm excited?
But after the nerves go down, it's like you start to form relationships and like kind
of who you're, not your click, but like who your people are going to be.
So yeah, no, this is.
This was a dope, dope experience.
Who was your clique night one?
I definitely was cool.
I was cool everybody.
I was like, it was John, Dylan, Hakeem, Jeremy, Sam, both Sam's.
Yeah, that was like, those people who I probably talked to the most, you know.
So, yeah, I was like, I don't know what's going on with that.
Oh, this was in Spain.
Okay, so this is a picture of Grant wearing a very nice.
dazzled or embellished blue is there a certain word for it i believe it's called a bolero
belero an embellished blue belero steering off into the distance yeah i don't know what what's going
like that now but that was fun i remember this this was uh on our on our date the bull date the bull riding
date so yeah that was a dope that was a dope outfit you know what i'm saying some good bt sots
and i think zoe won this date zoe won this date um by staying on the bowl the longest
So, yeah, I mean, being in Spain is a really unique experience.
So it was super cool, you know.
How long were you on the bull?
Did I ride the bull?
I honestly can't remember this day.
You did ride the bull.
I did ride the bull.
Yeah, I rode the bull.
I don't know.
I probably was on there for like four or five seconds.
I'm not.
What was your mindset when Carrie brought this jacket out?
Carrie's super dope.
I was like, I'm telling you, I was in an error in my life where I was just like,
yo, like I'm going to do it.
Whatever he suggested, I was like, yeah, it's dope.
like i you know like try let me try this let me try that so when he brought that out is not my style
but you know hey it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's the culture you know in spain so i was i was
cool with it you know did you guys have any other cool outfits on gen season or on yours that you
remember on gen season we did the rugby date which is like cool to wear some like rugby gear
and then you know carry had me lace with all the clothes so that was like super cool you know
so but yeah this was like the most out there oh no the most
Out there outfit was when we were in Scotland.
I had to wear like a kilt.
Kilt?
Yeah.
I like that.
What was that experience?
I had to wear a kilt.
I just didn't want to like fall and like everything be exposed.
But like the kilt was cool.
You guys wearing nothing under the kilt?
Everything exposed.
I don't remember.
I don't remember what I was wearing under the kilt.
But yeah, now the kilt was was dope, you know?
Different, different, uh, different culture.
Totally.
You know.
You've heard the chaos.
Now you can see it.
want to jump right in.

shut up, don't say anything.

By the time you get this letter, both Petra and I will be dead.

Patra and Michael were by all accounts healthy, happy, and in love.
Why did they do it?
And what did it do to the people they left behind?
I would have given a million reasons to not leave this one.

It can be such a struggle for our quality of life, but even if it's natural, why should we suffer

Yeah, it's me and Jesse.
Jesse got some game.
We were hooping a little bit, playing some one-on-one before one of our dates.
I think we were in, where are we in this.
I don't remember where we were.
Do you remember where we were?
We were either in L.A. or somewhere.
Looks like L.A.
Yeah, it looks like L.A.
But we were hooping, me and Jesse talking.
Me and Jesse actually, when I was out here last year, me and Jesse actually went out to dinner.
Had some good laughs, had some good conversations.
So us catching up.
And this is, yeah, this is one of our many bad.
basketball scenes. What did you and Jesse talk about? On this? Like in general, when you guys would
have your times together? Oh, everything. Just we had a really good connection over sports, you know,
because he was an athlete. I was an athlete. So, you know, he just gave me some really good advice
on how to maneuver, maneuver things. And like, yeah, he got a mean fadeaway too. I didn't,
I didn't expect that. So what advice did he give you? Oh, man, it was so long.
Anything that you remember? Man, uh, I remember we talking about,
talked about my dad in his situation.
And we just, you know, like a quick heart to heart on that and like talking about that and just different different life experience, how people come from different backgrounds.
But it's like a melting pot.
So I don't remember exactly, but vaguely that's kind of a movie talking about.
I think people always look at Jesse and they assume he's the host and we just see him on the row ceremony.
But we spend so much time with him and he's the most down-to-earth person.
And he does give such good advice.
For sure.
We're so lucky.
a conversation, you know, from like somebody that sees, that went through it or see, that's been in it and, like, you know, he's able to, like, reflect on what he went through, you know.
Yeah, he's the best.
Yeah, yeah, for sure.
Me and my dad, this is at, this is before we left, actually.
I think this is in L.A.
My dad actually is getting engaged.
Congratulations.
He's getting engaged to a woman that he met named Emmy.
So, yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
He's getting engaged.
So, like, that was another thing.
It's like, I was like, oh, you can engage it before me.
Like, he's like, we were laughing about it.
Yeah, he's been working at a sober home.
So he's been sober for.
Amazing.
A while.
And, yeah, he met a wonderful woman named Emmy.
And, like, I'm going to go to his engagement party and we're going to have a blast, you know.
So life was short.
I'm like, just live it up, you know.
What does it mean to have him be a part of this experience?
It means a lot.
It means a lot.
It means a lot.
Especially as I get older, you know, I'm 32.
I might be 33.
and like you see your parents getting older.
And I just want my parents be happy, you know.
So I do everything in my power to like try to do that for them.
And to see him get engaged, it's like, you know, he's able to the later end of his life be happy is like big for me.
Yeah.
So we were talking a little bit like before about him and how you were so glad that this brought you closer together.
Yeah.
Is that still the main takeaway you have from your time in the show?
I'm going to fuck cry.
No.
Don't cry.
Like that, man.
But yeah, just, it's big, you know?
Yeah.
So, all right, next.
Wait, Grant, is he still working with Zach?
Yeah, he still works with Zach.
Through the show, we were able to connect with Zach Clark.
So shout out to Zach.
And he owns a, or he operates like a sober living home.
So my dad's doing coach in there and like giving back his knowledge and what he went through.
So the, the Bachelor nation universe is big.
And like, that connection was super, super big.
Yeah, have you met Zach?
I haven't met Zach in person.
But I've spoken to him over the phone.
And he really enjoys working with him.
Yeah, yeah.
My dad, he loves what he does.
He loves what he does and to give back his knowledge in the area of, you know, getting sober and just coaching people.
He's big into, like, fitness and health, you know.
So it's good, you know.
That's really good.
I'm glad they were able to make that connection.
Yeah, super, super dope.
Yeah.
A lot of good came out of this.
Yeah, for sure.
Okay, we have a picture of you and Jen on horseback.
Yeah, this was in, where was this?
This was in...
Your one-on-one, probably.
Yeah, this is a one-on-one, but I'm trying to think we're in...
New Zealand.
New Zealand.
We were in New Zealand on his date.
And, yeah, we did a one-on-one, a beautiful date on the beach.
And, yeah, this is super...
It wasn't my first time on a horse, actually, so...
It was, or it wasn't?
No, it wasn't.
It wasn't.
So you were an expert?
No, I wasn't an expert, but she was...
She was better than me, honestly, so...
What are your thoughts on the horseback riding date?
because I always got the horseback riding date,
and I'm not a fan because you can't even speak to them.
And they're kind of so far away.
What are your thoughts on it?
Oh, I got a story.
When we were in Dominican Republic,
so they told us they were like,
because they were like the horses that we had,
one of the horses was like wild.
Wild?
Yeah.
And I was on that horse, and I remember I did something.
Like I tried to like pet it and I went like this.
And like it took off.
And like I had no experience on a horse.
but the horse took off and I was like pulling back you were on the horse I was on the horse yeah so it ran when it was not it was like a full gallop like it was like full speed what did you do I stayed I was like pulling back I had to like wrap my legs around his belly and like because the more you pull back the more they you know what I'm saying so can't they fall they could fall they could fall backwards but he ended up slowing down but you know I figure if you talked to it like I was talking to it like petting it and it like slowed down a little bit I almost like that could have been bad you know was that
on your season that happened? It was on my season. Who we want to date with? I was on a date with
Latia. Okay. I was on a date with Latia. What did she think watching you team the wild
horse? I think everybody was in shock because like it just went, it just took off. And then we actually
had to cut the date short because after that the horse was like, it was just wild. I was about to say
date over after that or? We tried and then it started raining and we tried to like continue to date,
but my horse was like, it just wasn't acting. He just was wild. He was wild. The elements were at
But yeah, this was in New Zealand.
Yeah, me and Jen had a really good date.
That was, I think, our nighttime, that was when I first talked about a situation with my dad.
I'm like, yeah, this is a really good date.
Yeah.
I remember you opening up about that on your date.
That had to take a lot.
Because on those dates, you don't get a lot of time and have to divulge so much so quickly.
For sure, but I'm like an open book, so I don't have any issue, you know, and she responded really well to it.
This is someone with a massive cutout of Grant's face.
in a hotel.
Yeah, I think, I think, I think, that may or may not be me.
Yeah, I was like, who is that?
I think Seraphina brought that, like, 9-1 with the, with the cut out of my head on,
on a poster.
So that was dope.
This was one of the most popular props I've ever seen from night one.
Every producer wanted to take a picture with a big grant head.
Oh, big grand head.
And then they had the grant box, too.
That was funny.
So, no, this was, that was fun.
That was, she had one of the really cool night one entrances.
So that was dope.
You have great teeth.
From a producer point of view, how do you guys get a cut off of people's heads?
Because we see these all the time.
We have the most incredible art department who can make anything happen with the snap of the finger.
That's crazy.
I always wondered where they got that.
So that was a part of a group date.
This was Serafina's night one entrance.
Yeah.
And I think I have a picture of you holding this in the mansion too.
For real.
Which I should have, I don't know where it is, though.
Maybe I don't have it.
Yeah, the giant cut out of my head, that's funny.
I actually wanted to keep this from my office.
That's funny.
What's it like seeing someone get out of the limo with a big cut out of your head?
Seeing someone get out of the limo, period.
That's like one of the most polarizing is the wrong word,
but it's one of the most nerve-wracking experiences because, like, you don't know what to expect,
but it's also like the best experience because it's the first time you're meeting everybody.
and, you know, it's iconic, you know what I'm saying,
night one of a bachelor's mansion.
So it's like, you know, it was interesting, you know.
And then seeing everybody on night one
and then getting to know everybody is like, you know,
the contrast between night one and then.
As a lead, do you think you were more nervous
as a contestant getting out of the limo
or standing in front of the limos?
Definitely a contestant.
Really?
Because you've got to get on there and do some like out, off the wall shit.
What was your entrance for Jen?
I did a beatbox.
I did something and like did a little snobbing.
it and then it was nervous because like you know but like I said I was at a point where
like I'm on TV just do I think a lot of people play it safe you know what I'm saying they
don't want to but like fuck it you know what I'm saying I'm like just do it excuse my language
you guys get no you could swear this podcast but like yeah just do something do be you know so
night one being a contestant is definitely more nerve nerve ragging than being the lead this is the
Mario group date yeah I remember you brought us outside and there was like a whole
There was everybody.
That was like one of my favorite days.
That was super.
This is in Los Angeles.
This is in L.A.
So this is the group date.
And what was the group date?
Mario.
Yeah, it was Mario.
We were on stage with Mario and we did like a like a group dance and then like a he performed.
It was dope.
What was that like meeting him?
It was dope.
My sister's actually really really knows him.
It really tight with him.
So after the show we like we chat, we chopped it up and like it was it was dope.
Super, super humble dude.
Really talented too.
So that was like a super cool experience, you know.
That's so.
fun. What was it like seeing all these people be so excited for you as the lead?
It's like, it's like, it's like, when you look back, I think it's like in life, you know,
when you look back at an experience, you reminisce, you know, oh, that was super dope. But when it's
happening, it happened so fast. Like, wow, this is cool, but I got to go to the next spot.
And I'm like, but looking back at it, it's super, it's really unique, interesting and to see people
come together over like the show is, you know, it's cool. Yeah. In this moment, did you feel like the
Bachelor because I remember going on my group dates and everyone is so excited and I still felt like a
contestant. I'm like, wait, because people are here for me. This is all for me. When did you, when did it
hit you that you were late? I think the only night I really felt like the Bachelor was the night one.
Really? Yeah, like the night one, you know, the limo entrance. But after that, it's like, okay,
you're just dating and trying to figure, trying to figure it out and you know, you're here and there.
Yeah, but night one it was like the most, everything else, like I'm dressed down and we're doing cool dates and stuff.
you know but yeah this is this is a cool experience this was the golden bachelorette Katie
Katie's like go there and he's like yeah this was when they this was uh chalk and Jones this was
the golden bacheloret yeah Jones AFR right AFR right yeah this is cool this is super dope I was there
met their family and like got to experience that and then they did the preview of my season there
and it was like super nervous I'm like
sweating in my seat but that was really cool Joan is super dope she's like she's like a really she's
she's really young spirit you know she has a young spirit what is it like in this moment
they're showing the preview for your season how are you feeling going into that I'm I don't even
know how to describe it I just was taking it in all at once I didn't really have time to sit and
process it like I didn't even the only I processed everything months after everything finished
like after the finale and the breakup that's when I was really have time to sit and process it like I'm
I got to sit and process, but when it was happening, I didn't, I was just going with the flow,
you know, rolling with the punches, as they said.
How soon after your last day on your season was this finale?
I don't even know.
Was it months?
Oh, the last day filmed.
Oh, yeah.
It was like a, probably like a month, a couple weeks ago.
So pretty soon.
Pretty soon, yeah.
So you still were in a really good place with Juliana at the time?
I don't think we were ever like in a great place, but we were trying to work on me.
Do you know what I'm saying?
So at that time, we were like.
Excited.
Excited.
and like you know trying to work on it like i will say like one of the biggest things that i really
um appreciate about juliana and like that whole experience her family was her family is super
dope like they're super you know italian super tight-knit like super you know so that was cool like
you know getting to experience that side and like talk to her family and like so at that time i think
we were we were going through that so i don't even know what oh this is the rugby date and uh
Australia, I think it was.
New Zealand?
Yeah, we won.
I think you didn't know where you were for any of your season.
I didn't know.
I was like, I forget.
No, this is my season.
This is Jen season.
Oh.
This is Jen season.
Okay, so this is the rugby date.
This is a rugby date.
Post or pre-performance of the rugby.
Okay.
How are we feeling?
We're feeling good.
We just put belt-to-ass on the orange team.
So me and John, I think John had like two touchdowns.
I had like one.
And we felt good going into the night portion of the date.
So you guys won the group day.
So you get to have just your group with her?
No, everybody went.
That's not fair.
Wait, did everybody go?
Yeah, it was like a whole, yeah, yeah, everybody went.
So you guys were just throwing your body on the line for nothing.
Yeah, no, literally.
I mean, we got bragging rights, but I remember Sam had the funniest.
Sam Najat, I think is his last name.
But yeah, he just had this whole thing where he wore this leather jacket and like after.
It was a funny, it was a funny experience.
Were there any injuries?
No injuries.
I don't know Marcus Marcus from I think he was in Jen's top three he heard a shoulder at that day
but you were I was good yeah I was good I was good piano this was in this was Jen season this was in
Australia they had like a piano and stuff and I just was like going there and play for like
they're like just soothing you know what I'm saying I remember I remember I used to be in there all the time
like in between breaks and stuff so this looks like you were probably going to a rose ceremony
going to a rose ceremony, yep.
So is this how you would unwind before you would find a musical instrument?
You know what?
I like, I don't speak a lot to, like, I don't talk about my feelings a lot.
So like music and like playing is a way of expression to like get your thoughts out.
You know, I think people, some people draw, some people, I don't know, some people drink,
some people, you know, do whatever, but like.
Not drinking.
You're like arts drinking.
Some people do, everybody has their own way of getting, you know, getting their emotions or feelings.
I think, you know, music is one for me, express, you know, something like that.
So this was cool, you know, having the piano in, in Australia.
How long have you played piano?
I don't really have any, you know, I just make shit up, you know, just, you know, I don't really, I play when I was younger.
But, like, I don't have any experience.
I don't like, like, four chords, but I just mess around.
Do you play any other instruments?
A little bit of drums, a little bit of piano, a little bit of acoustic guitar.
But, like, nothing like where I could do, just make stuff up, you know?
Just have fun, you know.
