Hello everyone and welcome back to Bachelor Happy. are I'm Rachel and I'm charity and today we have Bachelor alum and our gorgeous gorgeous bride to be Gabby welcome Gabby hi you so excited be here I know I feel like it's been I haven't seen you in too long so I really don't want to talk about it but it's actually insane it's wrong it's just wrong it doesn't want to come to the peppercorn well Gabby you kind of did that one to me but You freaked me out enough to talk me out of it. But enough about that.

We got to scroll back to engagement era. And obviously you're in your bride-to-be era, which I'm so happy for you guys. I feel like we need to dive into the whole engagement story. Did you know it was happening? Obviously, you know I'm the biggest fan of your fiancé, Zach. Like, amazing, amazing, amazing man. Truly. So tell us everything.

Well, okay, so I will say before we went on this trip, so I guess where should I start? Zach planned a work trip in Newport Beach, which is where my sister lives. And I was really irritated. I was like, you have a client in Newport. Like, why didn't you tell me this? We could have been going there for the past four years and like going for work. Like, this is crazy. So I thought that was like a little bit suspicious.

And he booked my flight, which Zach never books my flights to, like, go see my sister. And we had been traveling for the past month. So we, like, had just come back from Sardinia. Then I was at a wedding in New York. Then I was at another wedding in London. I mean, we were traveling for a solid month. I had not been home. I was just like, there's never been a time where I'm like, I don't want to go visit my sister.

And this was the one time. I was like, I just can't travel right now. I'm like, traveled out. And he was like, well, I booked your flight. flight so hopefully you can like come like you want to see your sister and I was like all right you're being a weirdo so I was like definitely convinced before we left that I was getting engaged but when we got there I completely like that flipped because he was like working like actually working and I looked my sister in the eyes and I said Chloe don't you dare lie to me do you

have the ring is the ring in this apartment Gabby's insane And she said to me, I swear on your life, I swear on mom's life, I don't have the ring, which she didn't have the ring at that moment. It showed up the next day at like 5 a.m. So she wasn't, she wasn't lying to me. I was like, you bitch. Like, how dare you? So I thought she had sworn to me, the ring's not here.

He was being like, you know, working, whatever. Then we went to do these like family photos. which had been planned, like, for months. Like, I've known about these family photos. My sister was doing them for the holidays. She, this was like, you know, her daughter, like, finally was, like, old enough to, like, take family photos. It was going to be really cute. It was with a photographer they've already used.

So I didn't want to, like, get in the way of that. But Chloe was like, no, like, please get some photos. And my mom, I should have felt, like, looking back, I'm like, why did I not notice this? My mom was like, I would love to have some family photos of you girls. And I was like, like, okay. Like, just the girls. But Zach and Kyle, my sister's husband, drove up separately. And actually, Kyle, my brother-in-law, almost ruined it like four times.

Like, he was like, Chloe, should I bring the pack and play? And I was like, why would you bring a pack and play to the beach? Like, we're taking photos like at the beach. And Chloe was like, no. like what? And then I asked where Zach was when they got there and they were and he was like, he's walking Louis. And I was like, why would you bring Louis to family photos? Louis's my little Yorkie. And oh, I'm just kidding. And so like I should have noticed all these things, but Zach showed up to family photos in basketball shorts. Like literally like like athletic clothes didn't look nice. He was like,

why didn't want to get in the photos? Like it's just for your family. So when I was like, okay, I'm pissed. I was like, I'm pissed. So it's really not happening. So I was like really mad. And my niece started crashing out. So we're taking photos. My niece started crashing out at the perfect time. Also, I don't know when Zach changed his clothes.

Still, she never remembered that moment. And my sister was like, I have to feed her. She was teething. I have to give her Tylenol. So the photographer was like, let me just take some photos of you and Zach, which we've taken photos with this photographer before. So I didn't think anything of it. And I really wasn't paying attention because I was worried about my niece.

And I remember she asked me, she was like, tell me like what, what you think about Zach right now? Or how are you feeling in this moment? I was like, annoyed. Gabby, please. I was literally being so rude. I was like, yeah, another missed opportunity. Like, don't know when we're going to get engaged now, like maybe like three years because like I'm pretty busy. No.

She goes, I can pencil you in three years from now. Yeah, we know, but I'll have to pencil you in. And there's a waiting list. So, yeah. So then all of a sudden, he started like giving his, oh, my gosh, somebody almost photo, like took our spot on the rocks to. And the photographer went up to them, was like, can you please move? Because like that was like the spot they had planned. And they moved out of the way. But I still didn't think anything of it. And I didn't even put on lip gloss. My hair wasn't done. I gave my sister like a full. flow out full beat, made sure she was all ready, chose out all of their outfits. I did have a really pretty dress on, which your dress was gorgeous, but I like my hair is like a mess. My makeup's not done. The pictures were gorgeous. No, I was like, Gabby, please. Like, truly. It fit where the photos were and where it happened. Because if I was in like a full beat on the cliffs, it would been kind of weird. But yeah, yeah. So I was very shocked. And then he surprised like me with, my best friend, Macy, which charity, you know, Macy. Yes. And Jess was there. And then he flew in his family.

And he had us all stay at like, I don't know, the cute hotel that's in La Jolla. I don't, I don't know what it's called. But it was really cute. And he had like a full private dinner plan, like out on the water. It was just really beautiful. So he really planned it out. And he did surprise me. He did good. No, good for him. I'm like, exactly. Like, you want to be surprised.

And I'm like, you being on edge to is, it's a classic. Yeah. And I was being so rude. I was like, are you sure you want to marry me? Like, I just like almost went full cycle on you. Listen, we love self-awareness. Gabby's like, I don't know if this is the best thing for you. But yeah.

That wasn't mean. I swear. The pictures were so magical. And congratulations, first of all, I have to ask about the ring because it is so stunning. Did you have it picked out or was it a surprise? Okay. So I did. Well, I had an idea of what I wanted and they ended up making me the ring that I, so my sister makes jewelry. And she ended up making me the ring I wanted in lab grown diamonds originally wanted. And then I won't tell a lie. I did go through Zach's phone. I found the picture because he was like asking me some weird questions when we were

So they made it a little bit smaller.

The half moons were like a smaller ratio. So you can kind of see like this one. There we go. It's like so gorgeous. So the ratio is just like slightly different. But I saw like a kind of similar ring and I was like I'm obsessed with that. And yeah, she she made it happen. He made it happen really.

I'm like only Gabi has two rings and they're both gorge. like two rings and going through the phone in sardinia this story is just iconic charity is also planning a wedding have you guys talked at all about the wedding planning process it just sounds insane we've been talking about dresses yeah i'm like gabby is like the one who knows it all and has all like the chicks up her sleeves so i would just like send a few dresses or i'd be like oh this is like something similar that she tried on that's like maybe similar to something that i have So we've talked a little bit about that. And then one big one was the photographer.

We cannot believe the quotes that we were getting for photography. I think I told Gabby like one of like I got a 27,000 quote for photography. And I said not happening. I'm not doing it. I don't care. Wait, this is just for the wedding day. Just for the photographer. Just for the.

And that's not videographer included. No. No. Like, no. Yeah, I can't remember how much ours was, but it was. No, Gabby's was also insane. I've already put my deposit down though, so. Well, good for you, but I said I am not doing that.

That's insane. Yeah, I know. I have chosen a videographer because I've been putting it off because that's also, I mean, that was less, but I think the person I wanted was like 20,000 for the video for the day. But I'm like, that combined, it's like 50 grand on. Just, yeah. Which I'm like, yeah, I am a huge advocate of like, that's where you should invest.

you know, because it's like the one thing that you do have and you can always like look back on. But I just feel like it's kind of crazy. I don't know. Like, you know. It's insane. It's like, I don't know. It's hard because I'm like, I would rather like, you know, buy something for my house at this point. Like I'd rather get like, you know, a new bathroom upstairs.

But I also do want to like have like great photos of my special day. So I decided on the photos. I was like, that's really important. video. I'm still working through the importance level. I'm just waiting for like a divine revelation to keep to me and be like, okay, yes or no. But then it's like everything else you have to do for a wedding. I'm getting married in Vermont, which I thought this, it's at this flower farm and it's gorgeous, but I didn't think about the fact that it's nothing. Like it's like just like land basically. So. Oh, so you're saying like a lot. Yeah. We're learning the bathrooms. Like so I have to

bring it like there's so much money I have to spend that no one will ever see like it's like pretty potty and like in like lights like you have to have lights you have to have a catering tent you have to have tables for the caterers to like prep the food with you have to have ovens cook with it's things that no one will ever see yeah but you're bringing in ovens the caters have nothing like like i have to make like a kitchen for them where do you find an oven no gabby ovens near me ovens here, literally. That's crazy. I feel like the price of weddings has just got so outrageous, and I feel like they just

charge up knowing it's a wedding. If you were to hire a photographer on any other day, I feel like it would be not as expensive. I'm so sorry, you guys have to go through that. Yeah, that is absolutely shocking. That's why we pushed out our wedding a whole year, because we couldn't even find a caterer like in Vermont because we want to do fall. So we couldn't get a caterer.

I was like, you know what? Honestly, with the prices we're getting back, I'm so good. Like, yeah. And even meeting with wedding planners, some of them I was like, okay, like, I get it. Like you work with all these like really rich like Rhode Island and Connecticut people. Not that everyone from there is like that. But I would talk to some and they'd be like, yeah, our average wedding is like between 350 and 500,000. I was like, I'm sorry.

Like, hello? A house? Like literally, no, a house. I'm just like, who and how. Yeah. So. It is, yeah, it's been a journey. And I'm close to the finish line, so praise God.

Yes, Gabby. Yeah. Do you have a wedding planner? Or did you end up just going with your own? Okay. How has that been working with her? Did it make it easier or is it still really stressful? Honestly, we bought a house. So I've just been all house mode. We did some renovations. And that has been

taking over my brain space. So actually, I have my first catch-up meeting with my wedding planner tomorrow. So I'm a little bit too. I'm like, oh, like we're like almost back to like the here mark and I'm scared. So it's okay. It's okay. Yeah. Yeah, leave it to her. That's my advice. I'm so. type B, but I feel like you're like type A. I actually don't know. I'm like type. I'm not even type B. I'm type C, like, A. F. Honestly, I don't even know my type at this point. I'm like so like overwhelmed. I'm just like I'm type nothing. So that track. But speaking of house, your house, Gabby, congrats. Like, is a dream. Like, I don't know if you guys, our listeners have seen, but Gabby's posted a little bit of content, um, the renovation process. And I'm just obsessed. So like, I, I,

really can't wait to come and visit. Come whenever. It's unbelievable. So please walk us through that process. How was that? How did you guys land on moving from Houston? Yeah, tell us everything. Well, I always wanted to leave Houston.

No shade against Houston. I loved it. And it had like, it has so many memories for me. And I honestly was like crying. Actually, I should tell you guys about my move because it was the scariest story of my story. You should. I saw your story.

Yep. Oh, my gosh. I can't even, I thought God was telling me something. The renovation, honestly, it didn't go well at all. Everything that you thought could go wrong went wrong. It's turned out to be nice. I mean, and I have serious beef.

They delivered our appliances and I'm in an insurance claim with them right now because they damage your floors, our archways, our cabinets, and our wall. And your newly renovated house? Yes. Yes. Just as we were like almost done. I was like, oh, my gosh. Yeah.

Oh, my God. So I'm fighting with them. We're in a war. So anyways, hate them. But the renovations, we have a really cute little tutor home, and it's like very cottagey and quaint. So I love it. It's really adorable.

It's kind of funny because Zach's working from home here, which is weird like him being here all the time. We're still adjusting to that. And that's a big adjustment. I'm like, do you want to help me, like, move this table? He's like, I'm working. I'm like, wait, what? What do you mean?

Working. Like, get up. Move this table. Yeah. So it's been great. But the renovation was certainly unique. I don't recommend. I really don't.

I said to Zach, I was like, I'm never renovating a house again, except for maybe like doing a wallpaper, like painting something. And never doing renovation again. I was like, it's very, it was like very bold of you because I'm like, again, I know myself, but I'm like, I also know you Gabby. I'm like, you taking that on again while you're planning a wedding.

I was like, girl is tackling all the big things right now. That's why you haven't heard from me or seeing me. Like I had to go off the grid. I was so overwhelmed. And then when we went to move, so we scheduled, we had to push out our move twice. so because the house was not ready for us to move into. So we, when we finally have our date, we're ready to go. We have the moving truck.

They show up at 7.30 a.m. And they are like, wow, you have a lot of stuff. But the week before I was poisoned by a tuna. And I know that sounds crazy. It's not like food poisoning. I was literally poisoned by like the protein and the tuna. I was just like, is a mercury point? How do you know you were poisoned?

because I was like so ill and weak for like truly I could not move and Zach was at a work out of town on a work trip so I and I was supposed to like lock in that week I was like I'm going to get cracked out and I'm going to lock in like this is going to be my bitch and none of that happened um so I had to hire like a moving company to come and pack they were like packing and I wasn't watching them because I was like dying in the other room they were packing like a singular cowboy hat with like tons of paper and a large size box. Anyways, I was like, where do all these boxes come from? I didn't know we had. Oh, like one thing in a is crazy. Yes, insane. And so the movers get there. They're like, wow, you have a lot of stuff.

I'm like, yeah, your company packed it. Anyways. So I keep asking them throughout the day. Do you think there's going to be enough space? And they're like, yeah, we're good. We're good. It gets to be about 2 p.m. They're like, hey, we're out of space. I was like, come again. Come again. Come again. And we're like, yeah, but if you want to go get a U-Haul that you can like tow behind you, we can load it for you. I was like, okay, we'll do that. So I'm thinking Zach's car or mine has a tow hitch. We both have SUVs. Turns out they don't. We also, so in the process of figuring this out and trying to go to the U-Haul, we figure out that Zach's car has a gas leak. So we have to abandon one ship. So we are down one vehicle and we don't have anything to tow our car. Then apparently it's the busiest moving day of the year. So we go to three

different U-Haul locations trying to find a like a full-on box truck. We finally find one. We get back to Houston. It's about like 5.30 p.m. Oh, I also ordered food from like my favorite place in Houston. I was like, okay, this surely is going to bring me back to life. It's going to revive. I've cried like four times.

And they don't give me freaking silverware. I have no silverware because everything's packs. Eating with your hands on the kitchen floor, this does something assign from God. But I know this was Gabby's last, like that was your crash out moment. It's a sign from God. So I keep, I, I persevere. I persevere. I'm dead.

We packed the U-Haul for six hours. We depart Houston at 1.30 a.m. The movers also turn this from a one-day trip to a two-day trip. And they show up at 7.30 a.m. the next day. So I literally took an hour-long nap. But in the process of driving through the middle of Texas at 3.30 a.m. I'm on the phone with Zach because we were like, we have to keep each other awake. We're so tired. We have been up for over, you know, like a too long.

Yeah. And I see like a truck on the side of the road. I don't really think anything of it. Zach was like, oh my God, you almost just got spiked. They went to throw out the car spikes. And all of a sudden, like 15 cops with a high speed chase, 15 cops are zoom by us. It shakes my car. Literally he like barely stopped himself from throwing the spikes. and I was like that would have been actually like you guys are in the middle of a high speed chase leaving Houston I'm trying so hard not to laugh at him in the middle of like bum bum Texas okay in the middle of nowhere I was like what is Zach what's going on and is God telling us something and so yeah I feel like you guys need to pull over and go to a church just like

he actually is telling you something get back on the road I went to Buckees so she went to church That's exactly how she went. Truly. It's different, okay? It's wherever you find God, okay? But no, seriously, I like start crying to Zach. I'm like, why did we just like, there was nothing wrong with our life. Why did we just, what's going on?

Like, God's telling us something. Like, the renovation was, like, went poorly. Now the move went terribly. Now I've almost got my car spiked. By the way, if your car gets spiked and you're in the middle of nowhere, it doesn't matter what time it is. The cops will not help you. You just have to, like, basically, tell your.

car and then file a claim like where why even if they spiked you correct so the more you that's that's very useful information in the event i ever find myself in that situation yeah um wait so what's the conclusion to this did you guys make it there like what happened the next day we made it here the next day we got there we got to dallas at 5 a m i took an hour long nap met the movers at like seven um literally my parents flew in like we were driving to such the wee hours of the morning that at some point in my drive my mom was like I called my mom because she was about to head to the airport to get on her flight to come to me like that's how early it was um or late however you want to look at it but we made it and it was fine and we're moved in I don't know

where anything is because I didn't pack any of my stuff so I've been trying to like go through everything. Like, I was trying to, like, get my sewing machine going today and I just, like, wear all my paint. Gabby is actually the funniest person. She's like, where's my sewing machine? No, Gabby whipping out her sewing machine in the middle of distress is, like, so, Gabby. I know.

No, actually, the reason I'm doing is because I want to avoid all my other tasks. And my sister-in-law, future sister-in-law, was like, can you make the kids, like, an embroidered, like flag for the first day of school. So I was like, absolutely, I drop everything I have to do. Let me back to you. Very cute. I didn't know you could sew. Are you making anything for your wedding, like for the flower?

Um, I think it'll just be too hard. I might make, like, um, napkins or something for like the waiters or like waitstaffery because I could like embroider that. But yeah, I need to find somebody to like make us like a crest or something. Mm-hmm. If you have someone, let me know. Have to have the crust. Yeah, down in the south. I'm like, they love a good crest.

I know. I was like, this is so not me, but like, I'm going to, I'm going to go with it. It is so. It's so you, Gabby, please. I'm like, it is you. I'm like, you're very, like, homemaker. Like, she is like, she fits. That's her vibe. That's her aesthetic. Yeah. No. And Gabby wears it so well. Like, imagine all of us trying to, like, truly lean into that role, disaster. Well, it's, it's turned into a disaster. I had a lot more confidence about six months ago. this has really brought me back down to earth. I'm like, okay. It's a part of the transition.

I started reading. I started reading entertaining by Martha Stewart. I'm hoping it'll help. I'm dead. Gabby, I love your friendship with charity and with your entire cast of Zach's season. How have you guys been able to maintain such a great friendship post-show? because I feel like you guys are closer than any other cast.

I really think we are. They did such a good job casting our season. And I also think we all were like, we just knew what we are getting ourselves into. You know what I mean? And it's like we're all grown up. I think it would be different if like the like final people were miserable and like didn't move on and didn't have like these other things that brought

them joy in their lives. Like I feel like maybe then there could be resentment, but I feel like because we all are like just confident and like kind people and we've all been able to like make our own lives and like still have each other in our lives. It's a lot easier. But I don't know. It's it's so funny because like I don't know how the girls didn't like click in other seasons.

Like I really don't get it because we were all together all the. the time. Even if somebody was like had some sort of like beef like it it was just like yeah whatever like and we moved on. It wasn't like the whole thing where I was like, oh, I hate that girl. I feel that it's so common to be so close to your cast when it's airing and then everyone kind of loses touch or you only keep in touch with certain people. But you guys have truly made the effort to go on trips and see each other. How has that been? How has your friendship evolved since the show? That is all for part one with Gabby.
