Starting point is 00:02:37 Hey, everyone. Welcome back to Bet Your Happy Hour. I'm Joe. And I'm Serena. And we are back with Part 2 with Grant and Juliana, a happy couple. Let's get into it. Were there any parts or conversations, little date moments that you guys had that you wish were shown that weren't? I don't know. I mean.
Starting point is 00:03:01 I think the conversations that we had in private, we would keep them that way, you know? Because it's like that's something throughout the show, so much is shown. And some of the things, some of the moments that you have behind closed doors, you want that to be like between you guys. Totally. That's there. And we realize we're same, same, but we're different. We really have a lot, we're different. And it's a really good balance that we have.
Starting point is 00:03:25 Yeah. Juliana, you told Grant at the beginning of the season, you're like, don't take me on what I want until later in the season, which was just a crazy move. But do you, and it worked, it worked and it worked for you. But looking back on your experience now, would you have done, would you still do that? I definitely think so. I mean, I just know myself so well that if I had had the time that we had in Scotland any earlier, I don't know that I would have been able to, like, trust him with the information that I gave him, you know?
Starting point is 00:04:01 And that's just because I keep my cards close to my chest and I have such a close-knit, like, friends and family. I don't, like, get, let a lot of people see those sides of me. And I'm just nervous about it, you know, and I protect my heart so aggressively that there's just no shot that I would have been able to have those conversations with you. I mean, Madrid would have been nice because I would have been like, okay, I could. can breathe. But it was okay. I made it through. Yeah. It's funny because when you said that it was so shocking to us and just very interesting because we've never had someone tell us that they did that before. And we had Charity and Dotten on the podcast about a week ago. And we were asking them their thoughts on that, especially from Charity's perspective being a lead.
Starting point is 00:04:42 And she was like, the later one-on-one dates are like better, essentially. And Dotten, she's like, Dotten had too much later one-on-one dates. And she's like coming into those one-on-one dates with a foundation already to grow on versus like spending them getting to know each other is so she's like if she asked for that and like it ended up working out she's like that is like ideal yeah I would have been upset if I never got a one-on-one you just sent me home and then we never got that chance but that's not how it happens what's the first thing what's the first thing you guys are going to do being out in the open now like restaurant clog what are you doing to do we're going to go and we're going to go to a nice Italian restaurant we're going to go to
Starting point is 00:05:21 Olivia's Bistro where we had espresso martini's at my hometown. We're going to get some mushroom tagliatel and I hate I hate mushroom pasta. You don't like mushrooms. I don't like mushroom pasta, but keep going. Hey, wait, something that's really funny is Grant is like so obsessed with me that he does anything that I do and I like mushrooms and he hated mushrooms and now he's like, oh, I can, I could like it. I'm like eating mushrooms now.
Starting point is 00:05:51 you're merging into one person next thing you know juliana's got glasses great and has long hair I have glasses I had them first we're like okay you juliana obviously we're not at women tell all assuming you watch do you have any thoughts on it um it's kind of hard because I think that deserves to feel like belittled or let, you know, minimize their feelings. I think everyone's feelings are valid and everyone's perspective is their own reality. But I feel really proud of the girls, you know, for speaking their mind and trying to have conversations, whether they were received or not, you know, they attempted that and they did the best that they could.
Starting point is 00:06:47 you know i don't like to see digs by anyone from anyone to anyone especially when we're all in such a situation that's like i don't know you're you're open to negative public opinion anyways so it's like i would rather us all be united and try to get through this in a positive way but to each their own i guess um yeah but i feel really proud they all looked so amazing i was so happy to have a week off of like watching myself on the tv it was so fun and i know joy to Monday. And yeah, so. Who are you closest with from your season? Allie Joe, Vicki, and Prisa. Vigida. Vigida. She came in on the pink. Oh, oh, wow. Okay. So she went home, she went home pretty early, right? Yeah. I think me heard of my Joe just like clicked right away. You know, if I met them
Starting point is 00:07:41 in the outside world other than in that situation, I would have gravitated towards them naturally. So Nice. Do you have any hopes for your friends being set up with Grant's friends in Paradise? Yeah. Have you guys thought about that? I think, you know, if they all go, I think that they'll crush it. I think that they are 10 out of 10 girls and their personality is amazing. They've all got rock and bodies and that helps when you're in bikinis. So I think any man would be lucky to have them. yeah yeah like give us like try to like name someone grant from like your season when you were on
Starting point is 00:08:21 gen season and then girls from your season i think that uh i don't know i don't really know gen's men that well you name a guy there's a couple i think i think some of the people that i'm close to you know jeremy uh Spencer you know i think alley joe would be really good with either those are like maybe maybe sam m goes down there and maybe that's that's something they could do you know and that's a chance for like him and alley joe it's a chance for some redemption in there and just show you know that that's a chance for like them to really show their their relationship i think you know if they click you know i know jonathan's i think him and and alex i think that's a really cool uh connection and i'm excited to see my boy hakeen what he does you know he's always a good time
Starting point is 00:09:11 so I don't know how he's going to handle it, but I think that, you know, I think he just stay true to himself and be him and I think he's going to be great. I worry about Hakeem. Yeah, we were. Why? Because you never know with him.
Starting point is 00:09:25 Like, he's, he's either going all the way or he's, who knows, he's going home. Because I just worry that he's, like, jinxing it. You know, he's always posting. He's always, yeah. He's a look excited. One thing I will say is that he's extremely loyal. Like, he's a loyal guy, like, which is.
Starting point is 00:09:39 I see that. When we had him on and he was talking about, He was like, Grant is my... Hey, my best friend. I'm like, bro. I'm like, bro. Yeah, he's riding hard for you. He is very likable.
Starting point is 00:09:55 My boyfriend's professor is way too friendly, and now I'm seriously suspicious. Wait a minute, Sam. Maybe her boyfriend's just looking for extra credit. Well, Dakota, it's back to school week on the OK Storytime podcast, so we'll find out soon. This person writes, my boyfriend has been hanging out with his young professor a lot.
Starting point is 00:10:11 He doesn't think it's a problem, but I don't trust her. Now, he's insisting we get to know each other, but I just want her gone. Now, hold up. Isn't that against school policy? That sounds totally inappropriate. Well, according to this person, this is her boyfriend's former professor, and they're the same age. And it's even more likely that they're cheating. He insists there's nothing between them.
Starting point is 00:10:29 I mean, do you believe him? Well, he's certainly trying to get this person to believe him because he now wants them both to meet. So, do we find out if this person's boyfriend really cheated with his professor or not? To hear the explosive finale, listen to the OK. Storytime podcast on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. I never envision being with a woman. I'll just be honest. I'm Jamel Hill, host of the Sports and Politics Podcasts Politics. On this week's episode, I'm joined by basketball legend, Candice Parker, who stops by to discuss her candid new book, The Can Do Mindset, in which she shares why she
Starting point is 00:11:03 waited two years into marriage to come out. Like when I close my eyes at night, every night, I was like, I need to find my prince charming. Like, it was never a princess. Like, that never entered into my mind. But, you know, as I learned, sometimes life gives you things wrapped in a package that you didn't expect it. And that was just, you know, and honestly, it took me a long time to be okay with myself. Make sure to listen to this week's episode of Spolitics on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. Hi, my name is Enya Eumanzor.
Starting point is 00:11:43 And I'm Drew Phillips. And we run a podcast called Emergency Intercom. If you're a crime junkie and you love crimes, we're not the podcast for you. But if you have unmedicated ADHD... Oh my God, perfect. And want to hear people with mental illness, psychobabble. Yes, yes. Then Emergency Intercom is the podcast for you.
Starting point is 00:12:06 Open your free Iheart radio app. search emergency intercom, and listen now. What would you do if one bad decision forced you to choose between a maximum security prison or the most brutal boot camp designed to be hell on earth? Unfortunately for Mark Lombardo, this was the choice he faced. He said, you are a number, a New York state number, and we own you. Shock incarceration, also known as boot camps, are short-term, highly regimented correctional programs that mimic military basic training.
Starting point is 00:12:39 These programs aim to provide a shock of prison life, emphasizing strict discipline, physical training, hard labor, and rehabilitation programs. Mark had one chance to complete this program and had no idea of the hell awaiting him the next six months. The first night was so overwhelming, and you don't know who's next to you. And we didn't know what to expect in the morning. Nobody tells you anything. Listen to shock incarceration on the eye.
Starting point is 00:13:06 Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. A foot washed up a shoe with some bones in it. They had no idea who it was. Most everything was burned up pretty good from the fire that not a whole lot was salvageable. These are the coldest of cold cases, but everything is about to change. Every case that is a cold case that has DNA. Right now in a backlog will be identified in our lifetime. A small lab in Texas is crows. tracking the code on DNA.
Starting point is 00:13:38 Using new scientific tools, they're finding clues in evidence so tiny you might just miss it. He never thought he was going to get caught, and I just looked at my computer screen. I was just like, ah, gotcha. On America's Crime Lab, we'll learn about victims and survivors,
Starting point is 00:13:54 and you'll meet the team behind the scenes at Othrum, the Houston Lab that takes on the most hopeless cases, to finally solve the unsolvable. Listen to America's Crime Lab, Lab on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Does Ariana Grande follow you on Instagram? Bye. It happened just the other day and I, my soul left my body.
Starting point is 00:14:23 I was freaking out. I'm still freaking out. I can't believe it. Yes. That's insanity. Did you DM her? Like, has there been a phone? No, I don't know what to do.
Starting point is 00:14:30 I just like, I didn't want to like overly like fan girl, but I like fully like freaked out. was jumping around screaming. It was just, I don't know, I don't know how. I don't know how that happened. Did we know that she's a Bachelor fan that she watches the show? I mean, maybe she just watched the season. Oh my gosh. Glinda follows you.
Starting point is 00:14:50 That's so cool. What even is that? How is that even real life? I can't even believe that. That is crazy. That's very exciting. Very cool. Yeah, I think you should message your son.
Starting point is 00:15:01 Just be like, hmm. Yeah. I don't know. That's hard. What are you going to say? I mean, you could just be like, so, was so excited to see you followed me. I'm a huge fan. Heart.
Starting point is 00:15:16 I don't know. Honestly, that's not bad. That's actually nice. Just like, hi, welcome and you're amazing. And I love you. And I love you. And let's be best friends. Please never unfollow me.
Starting point is 00:15:30 Be like, please never unfollow. Because that's going to be really tough on me. Mentally, I don't know if I'll be able to deal with that. okay something that you'll you're going to get asked a million times we will be the first to do it any like ideas about a future wedding where it would be how do you picture it Italy Italy somewhere Italy yeah definitely I that would be it would be fun I don't know I mean we have so many people between the two of our families and friends but I think something maybe a little bit more intimate, especially because our relationship was so broadcasted. It'd be nice to just feel
Starting point is 00:16:10 like we're in a safe space with our people that have really supported us both privately throughout this whole thing. A good party. I definitely want somebody to come in there with the saxophone. And yeah, I don't know. Big wedding, small wedding. Maybe, I mean, I don't know. It's really, it's up to, it's up to us. It's up to us. But I think that it's an us decision. But if she would want like a small wedding, a big wedding, I'm okay. You know, like I think that more intimate people that we really know and trust and care about and love and, you know, because you could feel that in the atmosphere. And I think that's what we want at our wedding. I think that's what we're going to do. Yeah. I just want to be feeling like everyone
Starting point is 00:16:55 in the room, like just surrounded by love, you know, and have an excitement. So the more the merrier, but also it's really like it's it has they have to be close to our heart. Are you guys going to have an engagement party, do you think? Yeah. Yeah, we always we love a good party. Definitely. We're going to probably have to do something, something big, or because not everybody's going to be able to come to Italy.
Starting point is 00:17:19 Yeah. Yeah. We, an engagement party's fun. I was, I was always like whatever. And then Serena's parents threw us an engagement party and it was really nice. It was really fun. Yeah, especially just because. the engagement was so unique and unusual right like you it was a secret for months and then
Starting point is 00:17:38 you tell people and you know you're on tv and it's a hectic time of life so it ended up being a nice way to like bring everyone together and celebrate something that was really just between us for so long we had a few friends that like passed out right yeah i like that yeah um grant we have seen and heard a lot about your relationship with your father from Jen's season to now, and it's just been so amazing seeing him be there throughout this season, supporting you and giving you advice. How has sharing this experience with him been for you in your relationship? Yeah, I think that, you know, like I said, in the beginning, there's two love stories in this journey, you know, obviously the most important one is between my fiance and I, but I think
Starting point is 00:18:28 that me and my dad reconnecting and going through. the turbulence we went through and just everything from childhood and him being there to support and give me advice was at the time I needed the most. It's just something I always wanted. You know, as a kid, that's something that you always want. So, yeah, just for me, it was, it was a surreal moment. And I'm going to always be able to look back and watch those tapes and see that. So I think that's, it's special.
Starting point is 00:18:53 Yeah, I feel like that was, I feel like that was the right move. It was really important for him to stay back. And that last chat, that last chat with you. I feel like that, I don't know, it seemed to me as a viewer, it really like calmed your nerves a little bit. Yeah, that really, it really helped me, you know. It really helped me because when you're in that environment, you're by, you're by yourself, you know, and you obviously you have people that you're working with, but, you know, my dad's known me since I've been a lot. So it's like for him to come back and be able to give advice to me and really calm my nerves and
Starting point is 00:19:25 help me, you know, I think that was big. okay juliana you you're engaged congratulations um what advice would you give to the woman who is in your position next season of the bachelor woman who gets engaged yeah yeah watching like being in the position you're in now so like you're not like you know prepping for the show but like watching it back and dealing with everything, the good and the bad. I think it's the most important thing is, you know, you can rely on your friends and your family as much as you want, but they didn't really get to live and experience what you just went through as like not really many people do.
Starting point is 00:20:16 So for me, I think it's just the both of us being able to kind of support each other and really no matter what, you know, frustrated you, whether it was something that happened between us or something that happened between, you know, me and the other girls. or just anything that I was able to really talk to him and he heard me. I think really leaning into your person during this time brings you a lot closer than trying to work things out on your own, which I think in the beginning I tried to like work things out on my own. And we kind of realized that that was only going to bring us farther apart.
Starting point is 00:20:48 So it's important to trust the person, you know, and to feel like they're your safe space, but also that they can give you some really good advice and just support you nice and grant when you're talking to the next bachelor and he's like you naive smiling happy let's go i'm gonna fall in love what advice are you giving him um i think the main thing about telling me is there's no right way to be the bachelor you have to there's no right or perfect way to do it you have to go in there and give your all and you're going to get backlash you're going to get criticism, but you have to give your heart because that's the only way you're going to come
Starting point is 00:21:28 out of their happy. And that's the journey is not as important as the outcome and the ending and what comes after being the bachelor's. That's the most important thing. So I would, yeah, I would just tell them, be yourself, be you, but give everything you have because it's going to be worth it at the end. Is there anything that you've learned about each other since coming off the show that surprised you? Grant's like a water bottle hoarder. That comes. Oh, no. Yeah, like, I will open a water bottle.
Starting point is 00:21:55 I'll drink like two sips and I'll put this video now so people could see. There's also a water bottle hoarder. I'm not a water bottle holder. 18 glasses will be around that. A mug hoarder. She never finishes her coffee. No, I never finish my coffee. Yeah, that was funny.
Starting point is 00:22:11 I like wake up in the first happy couple and I'm every room I'm in, there's like five open like water bottles with four sips. And I'm like, what is happening? You kind of like put your name on it at this point. You got to put your name on the waterboat. But I kind of knew this. But Jules, she loves, she loves coffee. She's like, she loves coffee.
Starting point is 00:22:27 It's like her first thing she does in the morning is have her coffee and have a bagel. Yes. How do you do your coffee? Well, I get the Starbucks cold brew unsweetened and then any sort of like vanilla creamer, just a little bit. A lot of ice and a straw. You always need. This girl's me. Oh my God.
Starting point is 00:22:46 You guys are us. This is crazy. Joe, when we were like when we first got off the show and we were. hiding and he'd like pull up and one of us would like run in and get coffee for the both of us I would come back and he'd be like you didn't get me a straw I mean what he'd be like I need a I need a straw even if it's like like any kind of coffee like the ones from Starbucks don't have the straws it's meant to just I'm like okay well nobody wants to drink out of those sippy cups I know I have like a bunch of extra Starbucks straws like every time I go in I grab a couple
Starting point is 00:23:18 and I leave him just in case that's actually a good idea we keep straws at home now, too. We always have to have straws everywhere. Yeah. It's an experience, right? My boyfriend's professor is way too friendly, and now I'm seriously suspicious. Well, wait a minute, Sam. Maybe her boyfriend's just looking for extra credit. Well, Dakota, it's back to school week on the OK Storytime podcast, so we'll find out soon. This person writes, my boyfriend has been hanging out with his young professor a lot. He doesn't think it's a problem, but I don't trust her. Now, he's insisting we get to know each other,

Starting point is 00:26:49 Your beloved brother goes missing without a trace. You discover the depths of your mother's illness the way it has echoed and reverberated throughout your life, impacting your very legacy. Hi, I'm Danny Shapiro. And these are just a few of the profound and powerful stories I'll be mining on our 12th season of Family Secrets. With over 37 million downloads,
Starting point is 00:27:14 we continue to be moved and inspired by our guests and their courageously told stories. I can't wait to share ten powerful new episodes with you, stories of tangled up identities, concealed truths, and the way in which family secrets almost always need to be told.
Starting point is 00:27:33 I hope you'll join me and my extraordinary guests for this new season of Family Secrets. Listen to Family Secrets Season 12 on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I agree. I agree. Okay, before we play a game with you guys, what do you think, what would you want the audience to know about your relationship that they may not have seen on the show?
Starting point is 00:28:05 That's a really good question. I think that it's hard. I don't know how you would answer it because asking it, I don't know how I would answer it either. It's a weird question, but go for it. I think that obviously they saw, they saw our connection. but you know it's a lot there's a lot of growth that happens after the show and our connection is really a lot deeper than than you know the show showed a certain aspect but it's deeper than that you know we've been through
Starting point is 00:28:29 certain things even after the show where we talk and we communicate and we we're figuring each other out and we're doing a really good job I feel like I think so too. Yeah I think our yeah teamwork right our relationship is a lot deeper but also too you know it's we we
Starting point is 00:28:47 we both have our we both have our own thing going on and we we trust each other and we um we help build each other so i feel like that's something that they should know yeah i think there's like levels to us you know like we can be really just like for lack of better terms like surface level and just have fun and goofy and not really super serious but like we can also get really deep and and really I don't know open with each other and in allowing each other to see that side to like support you I think we're pretty well rounded in that sense and there's still so much more that we have to learn you know yeah if we have you guys back on hypothetically in a year where do you hope
Starting point is 00:29:31 to be it doesn't have to be like super specific or it can be if you have a clear vision but like if where do you hope to go from then to now yeah now to then daily you know having a house out there in boston and then being able to go back between boston and houston or boston in new york and traveling but i think that yeah just settling down um having some nice property out there and just being surrounded by friends and family and love i think that's the main thing you know yeah i would say boston and houston because you want one place to be warm we go back Yeah, like a cold. Yeah, we're going to have to escape in Boston for sure.
Starting point is 00:30:14 Yeah. Okay, we are playing the newly engaged game. Who's who? Are you guys ready? Yes, we're ready. Okay. Who is more forgetful? Me, 100%.
Starting point is 00:30:26 Who say the name too. Well, they know, but who has the best music taste. Oh. I don't know. We both have different music tastes, but I'm, I'm going to say music is going to say her. So we're in the middle. Okay. What's your music taste, Juliana?
Starting point is 00:30:47 I feel like I know grants. Yeah, I feel like I bop around. I like old school, like, I don't know, Italian dinner classics. But then I also like, like, Chilis Butler and like, I don't know, Fred again, Rufus to Soul. Like, I bob around. That's why I think I'm better. I'm more... She's more diverse in a new session.
Starting point is 00:31:09 She's putting me on to a lot of music as well. Like, I'll hear something. I'll be like, okay, I like, I like that, you know? Italian dinner music. Wow, yeah, you are Italian. So am mine. Okay. I'm cooking in the kitchen, but I am playing the music.
Starting point is 00:31:23 Who sleeps in more? Oh, on the weekends, I'm sleeping in more. I'm definitely sleeping in more. Grant's a sleeper. I'm a sleeper. He's a nap or too. What time do you wake up during your? the week uh when i'm in houston i'm up probably 750 because an hour behind
Starting point is 00:31:39 new york when i'm in l a i'm at i'm up at like 6 a m and new york i'm up 8 30 8 30 who takes longer to get ready me juliana do you want to ask this one who hugs the bed mart who hogs the bed oh juliana but she sleeps like I'm like a rock. Like at a diagonal. Okay, fine. But I don't move when I sleep at least. Yeah, you don't move when you sleep.
Starting point is 00:32:09 I'm like a rock. Who is the funniest? I think she's funny. I think she's the funniest. Really? I think she's funny. Just naturally, you know, from like her laugh to the way she likes to do her little dance. I think she's just, I think she's natural.
Starting point is 00:32:22 Okay, I'll take that. You skip the question that I want you to ask. You know you skipped it. Now you ask it. Who's the biggest cuddler? Grant. I'm a cuddler. Easily.
Starting point is 00:32:33 I was not a big peddler before this. Really? He's like, come here. I'm like, okay, fine. Wait, what's your love language? I don't know. I think it's funny because with him, I definitely like to like touch him at all times.
Starting point is 00:32:51 But also just I think words of affirmation. Is that the right thing? You're just always kind of reassuring me. Yeah, and I think that also gift giving, not in the form of like material things, but obviously when we're together, you know what I'm saying, and we're able to live together and like little things like flowers or like notes, I think that when she enjoys things like that.
Starting point is 00:33:13 It's a small thing, small like thoughtful gestures. Totally. Who's more outgoing? I think, I think, I think, I think, I think, I think, I think, I, you know, we balance each other out too because there's times where I'm like, listen, I'm, I'm like, my social battery's low, but then I have a couple of martinis and I'm like, hey, I'm like having a life of the party. Like, I'm back, everyone.
Starting point is 00:33:37 And then, you know, Jules is like, she's definitely really outgoing, but there's sometimes when she wants her space as well. So I feel like it's just, I think we balance each other out. I'm an introverted extrovert, I feel like. I feel like we're both kind of similar like that. Same, same. This one, you guys may not even know the answer yet, but who's the better driver?
Starting point is 00:33:56 What? I'm a better driver. Can we want to revisit the backing up? Oh, yeah, backing up. But that was, okay, yeah. Come on, I'm a beast at backing up and parallel parking. Okay, okay. Yeah, we'll split that.
Starting point is 00:34:07 But, you know, I got the, I love, I love to drive. Yeah. I would be a passenger, princess, moving forward, but I will say. It's the best. It's the best car job. So Grant's the best at driving forward. Yeah. Who's the better dancer?
Starting point is 00:34:27 Grant, immediate. Yeah. I can't dance. I like dancing. I'm a dancer. who's the more organized one oh me for sure who's more adventurous probably you probably me yeah probably me i like a little adventure but i don't do anything crazy who's when you went on the bachelor that's pretty crazy yeah true but i did tell them
Starting point is 00:34:50 like from right off the beginning i was like if you make me jump out of or off of anything like i will politely decline like it's just not happening i said the same thing oh you did But you jumped off. Yeah. And they were like, get off this break, yeah. And jump. Give me a martini first. Who's the better, who's the better listener?
Starting point is 00:35:10 Hmm. I think we're both equally good at listening to each other. There's no better in that because there's times when I'm talking and she's listening to me and there's times when she's talking and I'm listening. Yeah. I feel like neither one of us listens to like respond. You know, we really listen to like hear the person out. We take time and try to give the best advice or just be at,
