I kind of was up there to just try and infiltrate the building. From the underground clubs that shaped global music to the pastors and creatives who built a cultural influence.
Starting point is 00:01:55 Empire. The Atlanta Ears podcast uncovers the stories behind one of the most influential cities in the world. This is Ryder Strong, and I have a new. podcast called The Red Weather. In 1995, my neighbor and a trainer disappeared from a commune. It was nature and trees and praying and drugs.
Starting point is 00:02:35 So no, I am not your guru. Back then, I lied to everybody. They have had this case for 30 years. I'm going back to my hometown to uncover the truth. Listen to the red weather on the IHeart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome back to Bachelor Happy Hours Golden Hour. Thanks so much for joining us today. Kathy, are you so excited to be here today?
Starting point is 00:03:08 I am so excited because we have one of our favorites. We have a very special guest returning to Golden Hour. Please welcome from Season 10 of Paradise, who unfortunately left before I got there. Hakeem. Haim. You could have just said all of when I was on Paradise with you. You didn't have to say, oh, he left, unfortunately, before.
Starting point is 00:03:29 Girl, we know it. You were only there for a minute. Welcome back, though. We're so glad you're back on happy. Yes. I'm glad I'm here as well. And I'm your favorite, not one of your favorite. No, you're my definite favorite.
Starting point is 00:03:41 Let me just say, I just, before we get into anything, I'm just going to give a little teaser here. Susan, while she is smiling, is brokenhearted because you've ditched her for another, apparently. We're going to get into that. No, I'm happy for you. She's appearing a lot in your photos. Yeah, I mean, what's mine is mine.
Starting point is 00:04:00 You know, I got to let everybody know. Yeah, what's her name? I heard it's Monica. Her name is Monica. How did I know that? Where do we meet? How do we meet? Yeah, so it's actually, let's start.
Starting point is 00:04:11 It's a long story. Okay, so she's actually a person that I dated in my past. So I met her via Hinge once upon a time. So we dated from 2021 to 2023. And then we had some unfortunate things happen within her family dynamic. That's the nicest way. for me to say it. I can be very upfront if you'd like me to. But that's just the point of course we want you to be up front. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. I mean,
Starting point is 00:04:38 there was racist things that were happening in the family at the time. Yeah, it's okay. You're good. We're all good. Um, when I came off Bachelorette, I got like a text message with her and him with Monica and her brother in it saying like you S word, your stupid N word with the ER at the end. So it was just like, yeah, yeah, yeah. But, but, you know, I'm, It's very unfortunate. I'm sorry, but I'm sorry, Hakeem.
Starting point is 00:05:03 Who wrote those things to you? Her brother, her name's his name. I'm not going to draw his name. No, we don't need his name. I just didn't know who. Yeah,
Starting point is 00:05:12 her older, yeah, her older brother. But it's funny because he put us in the chat, which we weren't talking. And then it kind of brought us together. So it was like, it was the complete opposite of what he thought.
Starting point is 00:05:23 And, um, two years later. Yeah. I'm, I'm happy with her. And like, I've told her,
Starting point is 00:05:29 like, she would never have to cut, for family if you know because i love her for who she is like i would want her to have that family dynamic because family's huge to me who made the first move after the chat like yeah no i i mean she she after that whole entire situation happened she made her first move with me like hey like your social media is awful i can help you out wait i'm sorry guys i am not following this you said you dated her from 21 to 23 we're now in 2026 so what you're what How did we get back to get there?
Starting point is 00:06:03 Did I miss something here? No, you didn't. I was getting to it. Listen, I have a plane to catch in two hours. So if we could get to the salient information here, I'd really appreciate it. No, I get it. I get it. So basically what I'm saying is that whole situation happened.
Starting point is 00:06:20 And, you know, Monica, she's absolutely anti-racist. And with all that. And she basically told me, like, I don't want anything to do with my family because if I do have kids with you. My kids are going to be black. So ultimately speaking, they need to do intense therapy and then they also need to take accountability with certain things that's not okay. So, um, yeah, so that's so how did we get back together? How did we rekindle? How did you rekindle? You said you did it. I just told you. He said up the chat. Yeah, he said the text. And then she made the, the move was like, hey, your social media isn't good. Can I help you with your social
Starting point is 00:06:59 And then it stopped. So she helped me with my social media. Apparently, she helped you with a whole lot more. No, actually, not in the beginning. Not in the beginning. It was strictly business at the beginning. And I respected that from her because, you know, if it was me, I would have went in stride away right away.
Starting point is 00:07:15 You know what I mean? Hakeem. Hakeem. Susan, help him out here. If you think that Monica came back into strictly, to use your term, help you with your social media. You need. a dating advisor. And Susan and I are here to help you out today.
Starting point is 00:07:33 But there's something you just said about her that she's definitely not prejudiced. And why did the breakup happen then? Because her family? Yeah. So in the beginning, it was more like the whole scenario happened with her family at when I took her mom out for Mother's Day for, yeah, for her, for her, and I didn't even get to take my own mom out that day. But I took her out the Sunday. But I took her out to Besides the point. Besides the point. I always liked him.
Starting point is 00:08:02 But she first started out with saying like, hey, like, you know, I thought your person was this other person that you were dating in junior high. And I was two years and dating Monica at the time. And she was like, yeah, you were opposed to marry that guy. He was the guy for you. And I'm just kind of like, yo, like, yeah. Okay. I guess I'm not enough. What am I invisible?
Starting point is 00:08:22 What am I invisible? But yeah, there was just a lot of things that happened. And I'm kind of trying to not say. exactly the things that kind of went on in a sense. A lot of microaggressions. Go ahead. No, so I'm curious how, because you previously did it or like how serious are you now with her? Like, I would say in this stage of my life as a whole, I'm not wasting my time.
Starting point is 00:08:46 Are we moving in together? You see they're like, we're actually in that process right now. Whoa. This is big, serious. What I mean, she, she, yeah. Well, how can you meet Susan and me to find out? her ring size? I mean, where are we? Oh, I know her ring size already. I have that in my phone.
Starting point is 00:09:03 Okay. Susan, this is where you say, can I do the wedding? Susan, this is your- So you asked her to move in, right? No, it was more like it was just mutual. We just kind of just came together in a sense, right? Because I was already, this is back in Wisconsin in a sense. So I moved back to Chicago.
Starting point is 00:09:21 So it's such a messy story with how this all worked out. But I just watch you guys do. focus on the point is is that when all of that happened, she checked in on me, made sure I was okay throughout the whole entire process, and then she kind of slid in with like, let me help you with your social media. Obviously, I know she doesn't want to just work on my social media, but I'm not going to say, what is it that you really want for me? It's not social media. Do you want to get back together or this or that? It's like a slow process. I would do the same thing if I was in her shoes. I'm not going to go straight in for the kill. I'm going to go
Starting point is 00:09:54 in step by step on how I'm going to try to get them back. And it works. It works. because my social media was bad. It's still not the best in the world, but she's helped me out still much. You know what I mean? So I'm very thankful nonetheless about it. She's she's been amazing. She's been amazing. So wait, where do you live? Where do you guys live and what does she do for a living? Chicago and she's an instructional designer. So like it's like what they do is kind of like they make manuals for contractors. So people who work in like plants, they make like step by step guides on how to do their specific work or whatever very efficiently. Or. Or. Or. Or. a step-by-step guide how to get Hakeem back, call him up and say that. Or that too, or that too. So she was living in Chicago. Anyhow. No, no, no, no. No.
Starting point is 00:10:40 No. She was living in Wisconsin. Oh. Yes. Yes. So now, so now, so we kind of, in a sense, okay, let me just break everything down. Yes, let's spill. Okay.
Starting point is 00:10:55 So, 2023 happens with the whole. entire scenario with her family and a lot of things were kind of escalating so I kind of removed myself from there. I leave Wisconsin at that time. I was actually living with her at that specific time when I was with her in 23. So I leave. I go with my mother. I leave and I'm just kind of like, yo, I'm not doing that. I can't deal with that. I'm not going to marry somebody whose family treats me the way that they treat me even though I love her so much. So like I kind of cut it off, cold turkey, all that. And the third, I'm at my mother's house. And then also at the time, I still have my Milwaukee address that I'm paying rent for because I'm not leaving her cold turkey without paying the rent.
Starting point is 00:11:36 And then you did paradise in between. Say that again? And then you went and did paradise in between? Exactly. That's why I was going to kind of go into that. So like in 2024 happens, like I date around. I get hit up to do the bachelorette. So then I'm like, cool, let's write not.
Starting point is 00:11:54 Like, why not do it? So then I do it. I get booted. Obviously, you guys know. But after the fact when I was dropped on being on The Bachelorette, I got these text message, like really aggressive text messages like Hardy are. Like I'm get people and beat you up and all that. And I'm just kind of confused.
Starting point is 00:12:10 Like, where is this coming from in the first place? Right. So, damn, I'm just so confused. Like, what did I do in a few place, right? The single man is trying to live his best life. But in that case, she was like, whoa, like responding to the tech. text message like, this is disgusting. I can't believe you would say something like that. After all he's done for us, Blasey Blah, actually made it made it very easy for us to get back together because it's
Starting point is 00:12:34 kind of like us versus her family at that time. So cool. Back in there, we get, we get talking and she helps me out with my social media. Like she first checks in me and she says like, hey, like, I'm so sorry and I'm so sorry that like I didn't see all this much sooner because she was pick it up on it. but when you're actually in it and can see it for your son. You're blind sometimes. So how are things with her family now? She doesn't talk with her family. I mean,
Starting point is 00:13:02 she has a cousin that she, like, reached out to her after they saw that we were together. And she was like, I always knew you guys were together. And it was some reason why. Because her partner is black too. Let's also mention that. So her partner's black too.
Starting point is 00:13:15 He doesn't go to their family functions because he's heard about the things that her grandparent. That's such a shame. You know, this whole thing. especially with what's going on in our world right now. This is just more sadness. Why can't people, I mean, no one is colorblind, but why can't we just treat people with love and respect?
Starting point is 00:13:32 I don't know. I don't know. No, I mean, it's beyond me, and I try not to make, try to get an understanding on why, because there's no reason why, right? It's a learned behavior. In the middle of the night, Saskia awoke in a haze.
Starting point is 00:13:50 Her husband, Mike, was on his laptop. What was on his screen would change Saski's life forever. I said, I need you to tell me exactly what you're doing. And immediately, the mask came off. You're supposed to be safe. That's your home. That's your husband.
Starting point is 00:14:14 So keep this secret for so many years. He's like a seasoned pro. This is a story about the end of a marriage. but it's also the story of one woman who was done living in the dark. You're a dangerous person who prays on vulnerable and trusting people. If you could control the behavior of anybody around you, what kind of life would you have? Can you hypnotically persuade someone to buy a car?
Starting point is 00:15:21 When you look at your car, you're going to become overwhelmed with such. good feelings. Can you hypnotize someone into sleeping with you? I gave her some suggestions to be sexually aroused. Can you get someone to join your cult? NLP was used on me to access my subconscious. NLP, aka neurolinguistic programming, is a blend of hypnosis, linguistics, and psychology. Fans say it's like finally getting a user manual for your brain. It's about engineering consciousness. Mind games is the story of NLP. It's crazy cast of disciples. and the fake doctor who invented it at a new age commune and sold it to guys in suits. He stood trial for murder and got acquitted.
Starting point is 00:16:03 The biggest mind game of all, NLP, might actually work. This is wild. Listen to Mind Games on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. This show contains information subject to, but not limited to personal takes, rumors, not so accurate stats, and plenty more. What's up, man? This is your boy, Nal Marene. the Broken Play Podcast. Starting point is 00:16:43 Who's your MVP right now then? Drake May up there, Josh Allen up there still. Oh, my boy, Matthew Stafford. Where did his bowl Knicks at? He ain't too far behind. He did all this talking. What Matthew Stafford is doing statistically, bro, it's crazy. Bro, you know I ain't no Josh Allen fan,
Starting point is 00:16:59 but Matthew Stafford got better weapon. Caleb Williams. Hey, he should be in that conversation. In what conversation? He should be in it. Listen to Broken Play with Nav Green from the Black Effect Podcast Network on the Iheart Radio app. Apple Podcasts or whatever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:17:15 Like if we're on the air here and I literally have my contract here and I'm looking at, you know, as soon as I sign this, I'm going to get a seven-figure check. I've told them I won't be working. here in two weeks. From the underground clubs that shaped global music to the pastors and creatives who built the cultural empire, the Atlanta Ears podcast uncovers the stories behind one of the most influential cities in the world.
Starting point is 00:17:36 The thing I love about Atlanta is that it's a city of hustlers, man. Each episode explores a different chapter of Atlanta's rise, featuring conversations with ludicrous, Will Packer, Pastor Jamal Bryant, DJ Drama, and more. The full series is available to listen to now. I really just had never experienced anything like what was going on in the city as far as like, you know, seeing so many young, black, affluent, creatives in all walks of life. The church had dwindled almost to nothing. And God said, this is your assignment. And that's like how you know, like, okay, oh, you're from Atlanta for real.
Starting point is 00:18:09 I ain't got to say too much. I'm a gradie, baby. Shut up. Listen to where Atlanta is on the I Heart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcasts. So let me ask you something. did you learn anything about relationships going through all the bachelor stuff that you're using now that you actually learn something that you're doing something different with monica this time so that it works yeah i mean i think one of the things that you start to really pay attention to was your time
Starting point is 00:18:42 because you have you kind of put in your mind like you have endless time you're with her you could have another day with her tomorrow or next week like it doesn't matter but actually every moment with her, it, I'm not trying to don't want to go to be hard, but it just, it means so much to me, right? Because that time that I'm with her, spending time, quality time, or anything that we're doing in those cases, it's like, it means so much to me. And also, like, the effort behind things means so much to me. So, like, if you're going into a relationship and, like, you're giving half ass or you're not showing your cards because you're scared and all that, like, that's the shit that's,
Starting point is 00:19:18 like, never going to get you anywhere. So, like, coming in, guns blazing, that's my type of love. Like I'm trying to find my person. I want to get married. Her and I've dated before already. We don't need to go through it all again. Like, let's see. What are we going to do here? It's either we're going to be a marriage, married couple or we're going to just call it quick.
Starting point is 00:19:35 Do you feel like you want to propose at something? That's how I was going to ask. Are you planning an engagement? Because you could do it right here on our podcast. You could let us know if that's happening. We wouldn't tell anyone. I could come to Chicago. I mean, you obviously would keep it to yourself.
Starting point is 00:19:48 Of course you would, right? You're going to put this on this badge. I'll happy our podcast. That's going to stick. you guys. But yeah, no, I absolutely do want to mirror here. And I will propose to her. I'm so happy for you. Yeah. Wait, wait. Do we have a month? I, you know, I'm a writer by train. Oh, yeah. Let me just throw a month out there so her friends can know her standing. Like, what? Of course not. Okay. I think it's going to happen in the first six months of this year, Susan. We could we could take this one to the bank.
Starting point is 00:20:13 And by the way, Hakeem, just remember. See, I'm right. I told you. I'm right. And Susan, I'm not saying that's not bad. That's not, I'm thinking it's nice out. And. Yeah. Yeah, maybe. I don't know. And Susan is a wedding efficient. So, you know, you could do one-stop shopping here. I could just come to Chicago. That would be a conflict of interest. You assume me like, is that?
Starting point is 00:20:33 I can't, I can't do that. That's what? I couldn't. Why? I couldn't do it. Having Susan fine ass, excuse my language. Excuse my language. Pardon me.
Starting point is 00:20:45 Having Susan married you and Monica. And I'm like, yes, to marry Monica. And I'm like, damn. Because I told Monica, I told Monica, I was like, let me tell you this right now. If Susan was on that beach, when I was doing it. She'll love me too, babe. She'll love me too. And Susan, just to be clear, I came, I was on the beach, and so now I know where I stand.
Starting point is 00:21:08 No, you're obviously, Kathy, you're bad. You're funny. Come on, like, stop. Let's stop it. All right. Susan knows the different level with, like, this has been brewing for it. It's been. This has been since she was on.
Starting point is 00:21:21 very season. You know what I'm right when she walked out the limb, I'm like, damn. That's why I kept saying I want to go to paradise. Boy, we would have changed everything. Yeah. That's what I'm saying. Susan, the ship has sailed. Hakeem is taken.
Starting point is 00:21:34 I want to know other than this fabulous girl, what is what else is going on your life? What, you know, can you tease anything for 2026? What else you got? I know she's taking up a lot of your time. But other than this fabulous Monica, what else you got going on? Yes. But I want to make sure it doesn't see. sounds suss because I wasn't between dating shows and she's my ex.
Starting point is 00:21:54 So I just want to make sure if everything's clear on my part, I can always clear things up. I don't want people thinking about it's as much. We got it. It's very clear. I didn't explain it good. You did? So seriously, what else you got going on?
Starting point is 00:22:07 You got anything you can tease? Yeah. With regards to what I got going on, I'm getting into modeling. So I've been doing some modeling stuff. Me and my, you guys know Brandon Jones. It's like one of my best friends. He's from a shell season. him and I are thinking about doing a Miami
Starting point is 00:22:23 and also New York Fashion Week as well. Nice. So I'm getting my comp card ready so I can show people about those things. Let me see. Let me see.
Starting point is 00:22:35 I'm also looking forward to the next season, 22 of The Bachelorette. Aren't you excited about her season? I mean, this is going to be good. Oh, I'm so excited. It's going to be, it's going to be, it's going to go crazy.
Starting point is 00:22:48 Not going to be anything we've seen before. Not, no. Let's put it that way. I agree. I'm very excited about it. It's not going to be anything we've seen before because Taylor's really unpredictable. And she's very just like. Do you know her personally?
Starting point is 00:23:02 She's an acquaintance. Like I met her a few times. Like I met her at the party, the Halloween party. I've met her at the hotel. I forgot the hotel. What we're doing. When we went to that Hulu event. Yes.
Starting point is 00:23:13 And L.A. in the summertime. Yep. She was at the hotel filming. And then I ran into them. I mean, it was super tense. So like. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:20 So I've had a couple, you know, a couple of run-ins with her. She's cool people and everything, but she stands on business. Let me tell you, if anything happens on my season happens on her season, she's not going for that. She's not going for that. She's not going for any type of liar. She's not going for any dummies. That would be me or you, Kathy. We wouldn't tolerate anything either.
Starting point is 00:23:43 But unfortunately, Susan, we haven't had the chance yet to prove it. What do you mean, Susan? You have. You were with Keith for a little bit. I was never with Keith. They were never together. God. Stop it.
Starting point is 00:23:55 Stop it. Stop it. You didn't give it a shot at all? No. We're friends. Damn, girl. That's just friends. Friends zones.
Starting point is 00:24:05 Thank you. Fine. Thank you. So me and Susan got our people, right? Yeah. If you were to choose any man in Bachelor Nation, Golden Men, who would it be? You're on the spot right now.
Starting point is 00:24:15 I asked you. Not a one. You could go on a date right now. Not a one. Date. Just go on a date. Oh, Hulim,
Starting point is 00:24:21 you think, do you think this is the first time I've been asked this question? I can tell you the guys I'm close with that I'm really
Starting point is 00:24:27 good friends with. I love CK. I love Guy. Keith, those are probably the three guys I'm closest with, but we're friends. So you would never date,
Starting point is 00:24:38 go on a date with C. Kisle? Oh, I have to take a fifth on that one. CK is, you know, he's got a little some,
Starting point is 00:24:46 something going on. You know, I can't. You got swag. Well, Now that you know, but prior to knowing he was in a relationship. I would have gone on a date with CK. You would have gone on a date with him.
Starting point is 00:24:55 Yeah, I would have gone on a date. Oh, so he might be in a relationship. Okay, okay. There he is. If you were to, if you were to say any, so you know all the golden men and any of the guys in a sense, what would you go? Let's say, let's take all the golden men. If you were to use any men in the bachelor world, right? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:13 Who would be like, okay, like I rock with him for a little bit? I just, we're going to move on here because I already answered. This is called asked and answered, as they say in a court of law. Okay, all right. All right. So before we let you go, Hakeem, because this is about finding about you. Well, we got more questions here. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:32 We've got to have some advice. I want to know now that you're newly taken and not as newly as we thought now that you've clarified that you dated her for a couple of years before. What advice do you have to any single men out there who are struggling? struggling today. I think the first things first. I'm actually going to be real serious about this. Please. That alpha male bullshit that everyone puts in your head that you can't be very sweet to
Starting point is 00:26:02 your girl. You can't express your feelings. Like, fuck that. Really? Get over it. Like honest, excuse my language, ladies. Hey, let me just say,
Starting point is 00:26:10 we have some 10 year olds listen to this podcast. Let's see if we can have two sentences without the F bomb. Just try and see. Okay. I apologize. So I'm just saying that, you know, there's always this like alpha male thing that you guys got to be like super alpha you got to stand on business you got to make the girl like going to chase you or you can't fall in love on
Starting point is 00:26:28 the first time like dude just be yourself and i know we go into reality tv and they're like hey be yourself be yourself but that is literally the vice that i would tell anybody that's why i'm single i'm i'm my that's why i'm single because i'm myself so you know i disagree i disagree i disagree with you because just because you yourself doesn't mean that's why you're single i feel in the sense is a person for everyone out there. And I'm weird. When I tell you, I'm weird. I'm loud.
Starting point is 00:26:55 I'm annoying. I know all the negative qualities by myself, but I choose not to not do those things because they will eventually come out, right? Yeah. So like somebody's going to tolerate it. Somebody's going to see the pros out with the cons. And that's the way I look at it. So guys,
Starting point is 00:27:08 if you want to spoil your girl, but don't be weird. Don't be a weird. I like that. Own it. Own it. And enjoy it. Just feel out.
Starting point is 00:27:15 Just feel out. And have just like have some emotional intelligence. Wait, have a question I keep, I've heard, Susan, we talked about this. Somebody said that men are nervous about, like, making that overture that they like a woman who comes up to them. Do you think that's true? Say that one more time, Kathy? A woman that approaches a man. A woman approaching a man as opposed to waiting for the man to approach her like.
Starting point is 00:27:38 What's your thought on that? Waiting for a woman to approach you? No, no. What do you think about women that would approach you first instead of? Oh, that's, yeah. I think you can absolutely do that. I think you can absolutely do that if you really want to go for something. No, no, because they say some men are like timid.
Starting point is 00:27:53 They, instead of being the alpha male, like really in real life, they're timid about doing it. So is that true? Oh, oh, I mean, I don't know about with that. I mean, it's hard being denied and declined by a girl. But at the end of the day, it's the part of what we got to do. We got to try to shoot our shots. So if, and that nature, I feel like the priority, a man has to approach the woman. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:28:16 And there's some very strong women like you and Susan per se right now would maybe approach somebody, which is nothing wrong with that. It's uncomfortable to approach somebody. Because of the world. I wouldn't disagree with you. And I think at the end of the day, I feel like we men have something to prove to the woman. I don't think the woman has something to prove to us. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:28:36 So like that is my opinion with like the whole approaching and so forth because men nowadays, Like I know I'm a good person and everything, but as a whole, men ain't shit. And you know that. You as women know that men as a whole, as a whole category. They'd be lost without a woman. Facts. No, you're not wrong at all. We would be absolutely lost without a woman.
Starting point is 00:29:02 But I think the problem is there's a standard of what men are supposed to be like. And that's the bullshit that isn't like put into us. We want to be super, super alpha. We want to be the top dog. We want to make her love me and make her want to chase me and all that. Dude, like, okay. Is it that or is it they want to impress their friends? And watch me roll, guys.
Starting point is 00:29:24 This is how you do it. No, just be real. Like, absolutely. I mean, let me tell you that. Well, in my 20s, my younger 20s, like, I would try to pretend like I was a guy who would have like different girls that I would be talking to. First, let me tell you this, girls. I am not a guy who gets a lot of girls at once. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:29:43 So like, I don't, I don't necessarily am I the guy that's like, oh, I pull so many girls and all that and all that in the third. And if a guy says that, they don't pull. Yeah. Let me tell you, they move in silence, guys who get girls, they zip their mouth. But anyhow, in the hole and this, then, and the third. Let's go back to the, going to the advice I would give a man is truly just show up for the girl and make her feel safe. Don't ever, ever, ever ask, not ask, are you okay with it? If you feel like you're asking if you're okay with it, that's the right thing.
Starting point is 00:30:13 to do it. You know what I mean? Are you okay with that? How do you feel? Ask those questions to make her feel like, okay, he actually cares about me, not just trying to, you know, hook up. All right. I like that. Very good advice. Yeah. All right. Get the next question, Susan. Give me another one. First of all, I'm in shock. All right. What are you in shock about? I want to, we got to go back for just a second. You're dating three women at one time. Did the women know, you know? You're, you're dating other women? So you don't know the, so back when in my early 20s, this is not me. No, I know not now.
Starting point is 00:30:50 I'm just trying to get a grass. If you're dating multiple girls, right, not saying that you should or you shouldn't, right? Everyone has the audacity to do whatever they want. In those situations, you're getting to a certain level, then like, okay, now we're going to have to kind of pick and choose. Yeah, I see nothing wrong with this. You're going to have to kind of like, you go on a first date with them. You kind of get a familiarity like, is this a good person and this not?
Starting point is 00:31:12 then you kind of move to the next step go to the second day you get to know them a little bit more and then you were like okay this might be a deal breaker let's talk and see what they think about it and you kind of get that with all them and it's sad to kind of figure out
Starting point is 00:31:23 if this person could be your person. You narrow the plane field. Yes exactly. Essentially though it's you use this as a way to kind of narrow yourself down and I think people tend to put their eggs in all in one basket and they get turned down and then they're like fuck like nobody likes me
Starting point is 00:31:38 nobody loves me. There's so many people that love you and want you right Just be great. Simple, be great and get to know people. In the middle of the night, Saskia awoke in a haze. Her husband, Mike, was on his laptop. What was on his screen would change Saskia's life forever. I said, I need you to tell me exactly what you're doing. And immediately, the mask came off.
Starting point is 00:32:13 You're supposed to be safe. That's your home. That's your husband. So keep this secret for so many years. He's like a seasoned pro. This is a story about the end of a marriage. But it's also the story of one woman who was done living in the dark. You're a dangerous person who prays unvulnerable and trusting people.

The Atlanta Ears podcast uncovers the stories behind one of the most influential cities in the world. The thing I love about Atlanta is that it's a city of hustlers, man. Each episode explores a different chapter of Atlanta's Rise, featuring conversations with ludicrous, Will Packer, Pastor Jamal Bryan, DJ Drama, and more. The full series is available to listen to now. I really just had never experienced anything like what was going on in the city as far as like, you know, seeing so many young, black, affluent, creatives in all walks of life.
Starting point is 00:36:06 The church had dwindled almost to nothing. And God said this is your assignment. And that's like how you know like, okay, oh, you're from Atlanta for real. I ain't got to say too much. I'm a Grady, baby. Shut up. Listen to Atlanta is on the I Heart Radio Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. So this next question may be tougher for you, Hakeem, because we recently did an episode
Starting point is 00:36:31 where we talked about why dating is so hard right now for so many people. What's your perspective on that? I mean, clearly you have no problem. but a lot of people talk about the I totally don't have any problem I'm spinning the block what do you mean I'm clearly having issues it's not it's it's it's truthfully
Starting point is 00:36:48 it's truthfully because we have too many options we see Instagram like you see I see Susan for instance Susan's a bag right so I'll look at it I'm like damn like damn like is this am I doing the right thing like is this always going to be like this if I'm with the person or in a sense so you look and you see other people and you think there's you know better people out there grass is greener yeah oh but I don't think I that's not the
Starting point is 00:37:09 question I'm asking, I think so... Why is dating so hard? Do you have so many? Yeah, but do you, not you specifically? Young people, and we get a lot of questions on this podcast where they say it's so hard to find a date. It's so hard to put yourself out there. That's what I'm trying. So clearly you don't have that issue, but a lot, what is your perspective? Why do you think so many people have trouble getting that first date or getting around to meet enough guys? I don't think young people have trouble at all. Are you kidding? I disagree with you too.
Starting point is 00:37:42 Respectfully, the most respectful. I don't disagree with you. I think, I think people in a sense. Well, define young. Huh? Define young. I would say like 25 and younger. Oh, no, I was really talking about a lot of our questions are, I would say 25 and above.
Starting point is 00:37:58 And a lot of these people say they have trouble. They don't want to go to bars. They're sick of the, the, the, uh, dating sites. Dating apps, you know, and they're like, where do you do you? date. How do I get a date? Like I said, you, you, you, this is clearly foreign territory to our game. I mean, you just shoot your shot. I mean, when you had a grocery store, you see a beautiful girl. Why don't you, you can just shoot your shot anywhere. I mean, I've met a girl before I had a library before. Like, if you see somebody that you think is worth
Starting point is 00:38:27 it and you want to talk to them, then it's, you just, well, for a man, I think it's easier. But for a woman. I don't think a woman should have to approach a man. I think a man should approach the woman. Well, in my, so what do you say? What do you say to those people? If, if we're not getting approached. They're not getting approached. What do you say to them? Women that are not getting an approach. What should they be doing? What they should be doing is just focusing clearly only on themselves because the right person is going to come to you. You're going to be chasing the end. You put the power in our hands. You're, you already screwed. I'm telling you from a. Wait a minute. Wait a second. That made no sense. You said she should focus on
Starting point is 00:39:07 her because the right one's coming. And then you said, don't focus on us because we're screwed. So how is the no, no, no, no. If you focus on us and you chase us, you put us in the driver's seats. So men is in the driver's seat. So meaning like you have to play hard to get, Susan. He's telling us to play hard to get. That's what he's telling us. No, I'm not telling you to play hard to get. I'm telling you at that time, like you would approaching a man is okay. Personally, you can if you would like. But I'm saying, ultimately speaking, I think it's up to us men that should make that first move so a woman doesn't have to do it. Yes, I agree with you. I agree with you.
Starting point is 00:39:43 But I think eye contact would let somebody know that you're on the same page. You know what I mean? If there's a chemistry happening from across the room, you look at each other. Okay. And then make your mood. You make choosing signals. Like you just give them an eye. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:39:58 You look at him. That's the clear sign that a woman is like, okay, she sees you. Or if you hair a laughter and she's looking dread at you when there's laughter all the time, she's clearly interesting. It's games. Yeah, clearly. We're talking games, Susan. games play games that's a game give the little coquettish smile a little look now i just crack up wait what how am we playing games that's not games no i don't think so but so you want to approach
Starting point is 00:40:26 you have to be out you can't stay home all the time and wait for mr wright to come knock on the door or miss right you can for sure you got to get out the world i just spent five days in palm springs and Lakinta where there are more men over the age of 60 than letters in the, I was going to say letters in the alphabet, I mean, more than sand on the beach. And I mean, they just, you know, just straight now. They're out there, right? I got, they're out there somewhere. I don't know what they were doing. But all right, I'm, I'm, I'm, I think that the advice is let the men come to you. Is this what I'm hearing? And I think you should date younger too, because you, you're the guys, this 16 above can't keep up with you.
Starting point is 00:41:12 Agreed. Don't get you a younger man. But the problem is if you are of a certain age and perhaps you're using hinge or whatever, a dating site and you put your real age down, then you don't get
Starting point is 00:41:27 connected. They don't want it. All they see is a number. When you meet somebody, I surprise people as Kathy does when they find out how old they, no, you're not. I go, yeah, tell me more. Tell me more. Yeah, no for sure. But you can put an age range in there.
Starting point is 00:41:44 Of what you're looking for, but not yourself, your own age. That's what I'm saying. Because the men, what we're saying is the men, if they see. In their search, we're not in that number. We're not in that age range. So they just, or they see us and they go, cute, as she's too old. Swipe on by. Some of them will, but not all of them.
Starting point is 00:42:05 Yeah. Well. Just like some girls going swipe yes on me and they're going to swipe no on me. too. Yeah. Yeah. It's the same thing for everybody. Yeah. It's just... Am I wrong? Am I right? No, you're right. Listen. You're absolutely right. In fact, I'm ready. I'm ready to work. Look at you playing games. She's playing games. Susan. But I like what you said about men need to hear right now. Be real. Right? Yeah. Be authentic. I heard him say let there, you didn't say in these words, but let your feminine side show. You know, you don't have to be a hard ass all time.
Starting point is 00:42:37 Be yourself. Yeah. Be yourself. Be yourself. Be authentic. Be yourself. What you see is what you get. Yeah. No surprises. We don't want to see red flags in 15 minutes. 15 dates later. There's a red flag.
Starting point is 00:42:53 Wait, I want to know, do you have any questions for us? Hakeem? I mean, you know. Yeah, I mean,
Starting point is 00:42:58 absolutely. I'm trying to get in here and I want to hear about your love lives too. Susan, you're still, is everything going well with you and your,
Starting point is 00:43:05 it's going. It's going. What that will mean? It's going. There's been good and bad, but. That is all relationships, right? Yes, the distance is big. Oh, it's a distance.
Starting point is 00:43:19 Mm-hmm. Where is he located, if you want me asking? St. Martin. St. Martin on the most beautiful island. He speaks French. He is French. He lives in St. Martin on the French side. Okay, so who's going to make the play?
Starting point is 00:43:33 He's going to have to come through. Yeah, wow. What's he, what's he thinking? Oh. He doesn't come here in the winter, of course. I feel that, though. Yeah. I feel that, though.
Starting point is 00:43:45 But we can use this house as the winter house. Yes. Summer house is your place. Yeah, I go down in a couple weeks, actually. Second time for this winter. Okay. Hey. Dathy, what's going on with your love life?
Starting point is 00:43:58 Nothing. Because you're obviously playing games too because you're over here saying, like, you want them to approach us. I got nothing. You understand from a shit. I got. So what's going on? I got nothing.
Starting point is 00:44:08 I'm nothing. I smile. I chit-chat, but you know, I have nothing. So you're not texting nobody talking anybody? Nobody you found interested in. You're not, you don't think anybody in your realm, since I've saw you and talked to you, you have not found one man. But she's not on the dating sites, though. So who would she? I know, but she outside? Tell me you're not outside. I'm outside all the time. I was, I, I'm in bars. I'm in restaurants. But you know, they're just not, they're just not biting. There's not biting. So what exactly you looking for? Let's, let's see. Let's start there because I think above ground.
Starting point is 00:44:41 Above ground. Oh my God. Can move, you know. Okay. Personality. Not a used to guy. I don't want a used to guy. I want a guy.
Starting point is 00:44:54 A used to guy, you know, a guy that doesn't do anything. I'm very active. I want a guy who used to. I used to play tennis. I used to kayak. I used to ski. Now I sit on the sofa with a bear and a ball cap on backwards and show you pictures of my dead fish. that's the guy I don't want.
Starting point is 00:45:12 But, you know, I'm good. If it's, if it's going to happen for me, it's going to happen. And if it isn't, it isn't. Because I am grateful. I have a good life. So you absolutely do. And you're gorgeous, too, by the way. Just make sure if you didn't know that.
Starting point is 00:45:24 But the thing is, is that you have a youthful energy. So you, I think you have 60 and above. You need to go 60 and below, girl. I'm saying, like, are you laughing? You see me and Susan. We're dead serious. We're trying to tell me. Yeah, I see you and Susan.
Starting point is 00:45:36 You got your girl in Chicago and she's got her guy in St. Now, we're not talking about that. We're saying like you see us like in a sense we're trying to tell you, you need to get on the younger side. Okay. So like, but Kathy always says, Kathy always says they want younger women. Again, the number, it's just a number. You're younger than most 60-year-olds that I know.
Starting point is 00:46:00 Some of them do and some of them don't. Right. I'm trying to tell you. I'll take me home of golden. If I didn't have a girlfriend, I'll get and get to know me a golden. That's just me. But you got to get to find you to understand that and really, really understand that you, there's people out there that do rock with that. And I want to meet them organically.
Starting point is 00:46:18 I'm not going to meet them on a dating site. No, you don't got to meet them on a dating site. It's very overstimating too. Yeah. It's pain in the ass. It's like a job. It's a job. Like a job.
Starting point is 00:46:29 But we, but Huckin, we are so happy that you are happy. I am thrilled for you. Yeah, we are very happy for you. We want to come back. We want to meet her. want to see the ring. I think you should get engaged on our podcast. Nobody's ever done that before. You know. No one's ever done that. That is good jeweler friends. Okay. So do I. Yeah, I got jewel or friends too. We got them. We got them in St. Martin. We got them local. We can help you out.
Starting point is 00:46:55 Lab diamonds. We got real diamonds. We got it all. Multi-faceted over here. Okay. You want talk to Neil Lane. Yeah. Well, you know, free is always the best way to travel. in first class. I'm not the bachelor, bachelor, right here, guys. So it's not going to work out for me probably.
Starting point is 00:47:14 Well, you know what? That does it for today's episode. I can't believe it. Thank you so much for our lovely Hakeem. You know we love you. We always will. And you're never getting rid of us.
Starting point is 00:47:27 You're never getting rid of us. And I will tell you, Hakeem, as much fun as I had on Paradise and I did, I was really sad that you were gone when I got there. I think you left right before I got there before the goal.
Starting point is 00:47:38 Yeah, I know. I was sad. Truly, I was sad her because I really wanted to see you guys. And honestly, I was just like, come on. I just want one more days. Hopefully Susan. Susan was not there. Susan did. At all. At all. She has a boyfriend. At all. She has a boyfriend. I was going to give you a rose regardless.
Starting point is 00:47:55 Oh. I heard you were coming. I was like, yes. Kathy's like, Susan. Yeah. Just, just a little rule on Bachelor. You know, if you're dating someone, you cannot go to paradise to yet meet someone else. No, I had to be honest. So she was, she's dating somebody.
Starting point is 00:48:12 Yeah. I would have given you a rose. So I, Hakeem, I would have given you a rose and said, Susan asked me to send this to you. I mean, I, you know, I would have taken one for the team. Yeah. No, no, you got it. You know, taking it seem like it's a job to do to give me a row. Hold on now.
Starting point is 00:48:26 No, it's a good job. I love you. We had chemistry the first time we met, absolutely. You know what? Yeah. Speaking of chemistry, I need to go make a drink. I'm dead. Really?
Starting point is 00:48:41 Wait, last question. Do you guys still talk to April? How is she doing? I am not spoken to her. She moved to New York. That's all I went to New York. She moved to New York. I tell Jonathan, he should have went to her room.
Starting point is 00:48:51 He should have. I think he was scared. He should have did it. He should have did it. Yeah, well, we're going to leave you on that one. We are just going to leave it there. Thank you to all of our listeners. We're so glad you joined in today to hear.
