Welcome back to Bachelor Happy Hour's Golden Hour.
Thanks so much for joining us today.
we are so excited to be back because we have a very special guest.
But first, Susan, tell me, how are you doing, my dear?
Are you still freezing to death?
Excellent.
I'm getting ready to leave the cold.
I'm going to the island.
It's really been cold where you are.
It was like nine degrees last night.
The snow will not melt.
It's like a brick of ice out there.
Can I tell you what my temperature here today is?
80.
5.
85.
All right.
Carry on.
I'm going to the 80s.
with that being said, we do have two very special guests.
Actually, they were my favorites from Bachelor in Paradise.
Jess and Spencer are here with us today.
Welcome, guys.
Hello.
We finally get to chat.
Oh, my gosh.
It's been a long time coming.
I can't even, first of all, you've matched perfectly your colors, your blue.
Was that purposely done?
He did not even plan that.
Yeah, we didn't even plan that.
That's just, I'm actually now just noticing how much of a match it is.
I just tell you that they, and you've got your two dogs there.
I mean, you guys are just living the life, aren't you?
We honestly are.
All right.
There's so many questions we have.
Yeah.
All right.
We're going to dive right in.
We were going to do some small talk here.
But honestly, I, I, you know me.
I need answers, Jess and Spencer.
I need answers.
I can't wait for you to just go down that checklist.
I am.
I'm going to start.
In Dallas proper, are you in one of the suburbias?
It's Dallas proper, like Greenville.
Oh, yeah.
I lived in Arlington.
Oh, nice.
Greenville is a street, right?
Yeah, yeah, Greenville.
Yeah, in Dallas.
Okay, wait, I have a question.
I want to know about the move.
Let's back up.
Talk to us about the move.
It was chaos.
It was honestly a lot because,
not only did I have to move all of my things from San Diego, I like basically had to double move
because his lease wasn't up. So they came and got all of my things and they were holding it in
storage and then I just loaded up everything I could fit in my car. And it was just kind of chilling
in his little apartment for a little bit. And then at the beginning of January, we finally moved
into our new place together with all of our things and both our dogs. So it was a little bit of a
double move for me, but, um, are you in an apartment, a house? Where are you actually living?
Um, townhouse. Yeah, we're in a little townhouse. Actually, it's not little. It's honestly huge.
I get my steps in every single day now because we have the flights of stairs. Yeah, it's really tall
ceiling. So that means really buy it or rent it? Uh, rent. Okay. Our dog is going crazy right now. I'm so
sorry. I can't hear a thing. But you know what? I do, as I said before you came on, you know, with dogs,
you can put them out in the back.
lock them in a closet. Kids, not so much. So enjoy it now.
You brought a dog to the relationship and he had a dog, right? So now we have two.
Now we have two. And how is that? It's a. It's been really good. I mean, she's very talking
right now. So I'm going to go put her upstairs real quick.
He's going to take over real quick.
Are you sure? Okay. Oh my God. I'm so sorry. So did they get along right away?
It's just the girls now.
They do.
It was definitely a little bit of a learning curve because my dog Charlie is used to other dogs.
Like, big dogs and she-
Okay, wait, wait, while he's gone, wait, while Spencer's gone.
Forget the dogs.
We can get back to that when he comes back.
What is it like living with him?
What's his worst habit?
Come on, give us some good scoop here.
You know what?
He actually, that she could.
That's a funny.
He actually is.
actually is so clean. I will say he has very stinky running shoes. Those stay downstairs.
Those don't go in the upstairs closet. They stay downstairs. And he's so funny. He will like,
I'll do the dishes and then he'll unload them and then he'll leave the cabinet doors open.
Oh, which is very interesting. It really doesn't bother me, but it's just been hilarious because I'll walk in.
See the access to everything. But up and I know because the cabinets are open.
And I'm opening cabinets, I'm putting things away.
We're a little ADHD around here, but.
Okay, so wait, I want to know what is the most, because when we were on Paradise and, you know, you talked about movie that you were wanting to move in together pretty quickly.
And I cannot tell everyone how, what a fabulous couple you two are.
You're just, I've been so excited.
But I want to know what is it like now?
you're living together, you really are integrating your lives.
What is it really like?
It's so much better than it was trying to figure out things apart and having distance is tough.
And there was obviously a lot of logistics because two different states and we had to figure out
where we were going to meet.
Would it be somewhere completely different?
Would I go to San Diego?
Would she come to Dallas?
And it was a lot of logistics to figure out, especially with Lisa's end on different.
dates and everything. So now that we're friendly here and we finally have furniture and everything,
which was a whole other thing. It's been so fun to just like, it sounds so boring, but it's been so
fun to just be normal. She's made it very, it's like playing house. And also like, I'm not going to
lie, I loved when we were going back and forth because like I loved showing him San Diego and he would
show me Dallas. But now it's like, I have my car here and I have my dog here. So it's like,
it's just so nice to like just be normal and like do normal things together and have our little
routine and yeah it's just especially with all the travel last year I do not thrive without a
routine he was like I do not want to travel at all for the first like four years I'm like I'm staying
here that's totally fine I'll meet you back here stay at home base what do so Dallas is home for
long term is that what you're thinking yes um I definitely think for at least well
at least the next year for sure. But I honestly already love it. I think that Spence obviously loves it. He's
been here for like a long time. We've been here since 2011. So yeah. So he's been here a while.
And I mean, I didn't have many doubts. I knew I would miss the beach. But all most of my family is in
Tennessee. So I'm closer to get back home now. It's only positives for me. You have quite a bit of
airline Miles Burn and a whole lot. So if we want to go to the beach, we can fly the beach whenever.
Okay, I'm feeling really ADHD here because I have so many questions. I got to back up for one
second, Spencer. And I don't know if you've ever said this or if it even was televised, but
I, as you know, I adore both you guys. But can you just tell, we're going to get into your
wedding plans and all that, but can you just tell everyone, and if you don't, I'm going to, what
you said about getting engaged to this beautiful woman about her dad. Do you remember what you said?
Yeah. So there were a lot of hoops I had to jump through to be able to speak to both of her parents.
And it was really important to me that I talked to both her dad and mom about her, especially she's their only child.
And it was really big for me. So I told them if they want an engagement on the show.
show they've got to let me talk to both. Do you love that? I love that. It honestly, it meant so much to me, too,
that he really wanted to talk to my dad. That was like his number one, but he knows how close I am
with my mom too. So, and I'm their baby girl. I'm their only kid. So it just like, it, it melted my
heart a little that it was like, he was like, if I don't get to talk to him, then I'm not doing it.
Like, sorry, baby, but I'll do it later on. We'll do somewhere else. Yeah.
That's starting off on a bad foot.
Because Spencer, you had said, we had talked about, you had talked to a couple different people about getting engaged.
And then after you sent me and you were just so forthright, it just wore my heart.
You said, you know, there's no way.
I can't do it.
I had, you told me after you talked to.
Well, it was, they for, I mean, for a while it was looking like that wasn't going to be a possibility.
there was a ton of logistics going on filming and there were the competitions and all these things
we had to work around.
So it was actually, I really appreciate them production being able to jump through some hoops.
So I was able to do that because it really was like we were busy.
There wasn't a lot of downtime, especially even even even even even even even.
We were like, I don't know if they're going to like give us that opportunity to get engaged at this point.
We had discussed it.
but we're like, I don't know where the time's going to be for any of that.
So we discussed it, but I don't know.
I will tell you, I was so bummed out.
I said to the producers, what do I have to do?
Like, I'm going to hide out here because I want to see.
I'll hide behind a tree.
I want to see them get engaged.
I wouldn't tell them it's not happening unless you were there.
Damn.
Spencer.
Well, listen, as long as I can.
back to the wedding, I'll let it go. But I was dying. Don't worry. Don't worry. Yeah, I was the best.
And I remember back when you weren't 100%, you go, well, I don't know if I want to move. Remember?
Yes. And I was like, no, you have to.
I think that's great. Yeah, I was letting that little like devil on the shoulder talk
off negativity. And then I actually got to talk to both my parents to the night before the engagement.
And something that they said to me that I like always love to tell this story.
Because I was just letting my own, my past like really come up and be like, you don't deserve this.
It's too good to be true.
Like don't do like you're rushing into it.
Like something's going to happen.
All these things.
And I was so scared also that like my parents were going to be like, you're insane for this.
You told me that.
You told me that.
It's not a fair, which would be kind of fair.
Yeah.
It's fine.
But both of them.
And like I called them separately too.
Like just so you all know, I called them separately.
They both said the exact same thing.
They were like, we trust your instincts and we trust what you feel.
You're so in tune with your emotions.
And if you feel like this is your man and this is what you want to do, then we support you 100%.
Like they both have exact same response.
And that was just like a, oh my God, okay, yeah, I'm doing this then.
Okay, we're good.
I'm my man.
And I love that.
I love that they said that.
You also said that to me when you told me what your parents had said.
And I thought they must be amazing people to try.
Because I have to be honest, Susan, I don't know what you think.
I'm not sure.
Well, I'm a little crazy how I would have, what I would have, what would have come out of this mouth.
If my daughter had called me and say, I met this guy three weeks ago.
And I was, I was scared.
Honestly.
I was like, ooh.
I don't know. I think you have it in you to be supportive of your child there.
I think you would go the same route.
Hey, listen, if I met the right guy, I'd be engaged tomorrow.
I was about to ask you about your man search going on.
We'll get to that. We'll get to that.

In 2023, a story gripped the UK, evoking horror and disbelief.
The nurse who should have been in charge of caring for tiny babies is now the most prolific child killer in modern British history.
Everyone thought they knew how it ended. A verdict, a villain, a nurse named Lucy Lettby.
Lucy Lettby has been found guilty. But what if we didn't get the whole story?
The moment you look at the whole picture, the case collapses.
I'm Amanda Knox, and in the new podcast, doubt the case of Lucy Lettby, we follow the evidence and hear
from the people that lived it, to ask what really happened when the world decided who Lucy
Lettby was. No voicing of any skepticism or doubt. It'll cause so much harm at every single
level of the British establishment of this is wrong. Listen to Doubt, the case of Lucy Lettby on the
iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm Clayton Neckard,
and in 2022, I was the lead of ABC's The Bachelor.
Unfortunately, it didn't go according to plan.
He became the first bachelor to ever have his final rose rejected.
The internet turned on him.
If I could press a button and rewind it all I would.
But what happened to Clayton after the show made even bigger headlines.
It began as a one-night stand and ended in a courtroom with Clayton at the center of a very strange paternity scandal.
The media is here.
This case has gone viral.
The dating contract.
Agree to date me, but I'm also suing you.
Please search for it.
This is unlike anything I've ever seen before.
I'm Stephanie Young.

I'm Nancy Glass, host of the Burden of Guilt Season 2 podcast.
This is a story about a horrendous lie that destroyed two families.
Late one night, Bobby Gumpbright became the victim of a random crime.
He pulls the gun.
He tells me to lie down on the ground.
He identified Tremaine Hudson as the perpetrator.
Termaine was sentenced to 99 years.
I'm like, Lord, this can't be real.
I thought it was a mistaken identity.
The best lie is partial truth.
For 22 years, only two people knew the truth
until a confession changed everything.
I was a monster.

While Jess was speaking just now,
he couldn't take his eyes off of her.
He looked at her just like on the show.
I love this.
No, it's so real.
And I have to tell you, so you guys, that you live about three hours for me, you're in Dallas, I'm in Austin.
And you guys came to Austin.
And I have to tell you, it makes me cry.
It was so nice to see you guys and see, Susan, you're exactly right.
The way they look at each other is, it's real.
My belief, Susan, you and I've talked about this too.
lots of people get married lots of people but you guys are going to have that relationship for life
that people wish they could find oh thank you so much it was so much fun visiting you too
we need an actual austin trip so we we went for the music festival but i love austin so much
actually when you guys were talking about staying put in dallas i don't know if either of us are
like I have family here
I have friends here
I don't know super through time
you just say the word
we can go wherever
I'm down to experience anywhere
let's just do it
Hey listen you can come and live in my house
and I'll go travel
You can just come and stay in my house
Bring the dogs
I have two cats it'll be chaos
Don't figure it out
Don't figure it out
Meeting all his friends
Jess you like everybody
Oh my gosh
I love one thing
And like I never thought of it
Like I don't know
if it was just something that I hadn't noticed.
But I was asked a question by someone like,
oh, do you like all of Spencer's friends?
And I'm like, oh, I love them.
He has like these two guy best friends.
And they just have the most amazing wives.
And they're so sweet.
And they brought, they.
Wait, did you say lives or wives?
I'm sorry.
The southern accent is coming out.
Um, wives.
Wives.
And they just welcome me in with open arms and they're so sweet.
but something that stood out is like he is so nice to everyone like this is the kindest man
I've ever met but he is very particular on who he actually calls a friend like he has standards
and I honestly love that like of course be friendly with everyone and be nice to everyone but
it's almost a little questionable like oh you have all these millions of best friends like what why
why you can't get super close to me many best friends I have like I don't have like I don't
three of my, the people I spend time with, my primary love language is quality time.
So if I'm spending time with someone, that's my way of showing them I care about them.
And there's, I just love that he was picky about who he spends his time with.
I just like, I don't know.
Wait, Spencer, did you grow up in Dallas?
No, I'm confused.
No, no, no, no.
I grew up in Utah.
So I was born in Wyoming, grew up in Utah, was going to actually play football.
at the University of Utah, and my mom had gotten a new job in Dallas,
and she brought my football film up to the SMU offices.
She's a go-getter.
They were like, oh, yeah, we have a spot on the team for them.
Then she flew me here, and I was like, wow, Dallas is beautiful,
and there's no horses and powerful.
I was expecting to come here and it would be like people riding horses around as a mode of
transportation, and that wasn't it at all.
So, Dallas-
They do up the rodeo.
They do up the rodeo.
In Fort Worth, Dallas is very...
Stockyard, yeah.
Yeah.
It's...
Yeah.
It's bougie.
I feel like that is one thing that I've had to get used to is like in San Diego.
I feel like I could just walk around and kind of looking like a bomb all the time.
Whereas here, like, everyone's always so put together and like looks great.
And I'm like, okay, wow, I need to like go get some cuter outfits or something.
Like, I don't know what's...
So she did.
So I did.
Put some that prize money.
I did.
Of course you did.
I did.
Well, now that we're talking about prize money.
What else we spent in that prize money on?
A lot of it went into savings.
Be good.
Investing, I hope.
Dad, like student loan debt and stuff.
Yes.
Yeah.
And then when we moved into the new townhouse, we didn't really have any furniture because
all my furniture was for a smaller one bedroom apartment.
All of her furniture got left in San Diego.
I gave it away.
We had to, we've been thrifty, though.
We've been on Facebook Marketplace.
I love this.
The decision to buy the coffee table right there.
It had no idea.
It weighs 320 pounds.
And me and my friend had to lift it up a whole flight of stairs.
But found on Facebook marketplace.
It was a deal.
There's great deals on that.
So you remember when we were doing interviews about Keith and I were asking in Paradise,
if you won the money, what would you spend it on?
And again, everyone needs to hear this.
You two unequivocally had the best answer.
You said we would put a lot in savings.
I mean, as a mom, it spoke to me.
You said we'll put some in savings.
We want to.
Student loans.
I don't remember you saying that, but I'm sure you did.
But the other thing you said is, you know, when we get married,
we want to be able to put money down and have a house.
And it just, you guys seemed so.
Definitely.
towards people.
Yeah.
Let's talk about that.
Yeah.
Take it away.
I'll let the lady take it away.
We actually just had this conversation like a few nights ago.
So we haven't started any planning yet.
I think one thing that we at first we were like, okay, when it's been a year, maybe we revisit
and start planning then.
But our biggest thing is like we just kind of want to take time and like, like,
live life normally. I think that a lot of people forget we had to be hidden and also live
separately for a couple months. So we lost out on a lot of time in hiding and then also waiting
to actually move in together. Yeah, we've only been living here for a month. Literally one month.
Yeah. Oh, you're kidding. So, yeah, a month in a week. So we were like, okay, so May's coming up
real quick and it's going to be a year. We did say we're like, we're like, let's like, let's like,
Like it's still so fresh that we're here.
So when May comes around, it could very well be,
oh my gosh, okay, yeah, let's start planning.
But we're not-
There's no rush.
We're not-
Enjoy your time together.
And I love, she has made this house so homie and so comfortable.
The woman's touch.
She's got that woman's touch.
Yeah.
Spencer, I'm telling you, where the hell is your uncle?
I want him.
I got a couple of them.
Send them my way.
But they might not take after him, Kath.
Oh, that went without saying.
His family's great.
Yeah.
And we made it through, I think, like, obviously, every relationship has stressors.
And it was a lot of pressure on us individually, us as a couple with the move.
Yeah.
Like, her literally giving up her whole life that everything changed.
in San Diego, all those ties she had there to come to this brand new place that she's never
been before.
Yeah, but you know what, Spencer?
It's because of you.
She came for you.
She loves you.
It was nothing to give up that.
And we made it through picking furniture.
We did.
That was just like, I'm not kidding.
It's so funny.
Like the amount of DMs that I get that are like, do you and Spencer ever argue?
I want to be like, yeah, it took us like four weeks to decide on a rug.
That rug?
That brown rug.
That thing took a couple of weeks to find.
I, we like made a joke.
I think I commented on an Instagram post or something.
I'm like, we literally like almost broke up over a rug.
Not actually.
So it's going to be the next Bachelor headlines.
Yeah, I don't have to say that.
Yeah, what the Facebook pages is going to get that one.
No, but it's been like.
Actually, I'm being so sorry.
So many, so many big life hurdles that we've gone through
and done really, really, really well with.
I'm really proud of us and where we are now.
And it's like so nice to actually finally be in our home.
We're moved in.
Who found it?
I want to know.
Who found this home?
Was it?
Of course it was.
It was definitely me.
For sure.
It was definitely me.
Because I found a realtor that found it.
Oh, okay.
Yeah.
Our realtor found this one.
And who found him?
Found him.
I went to go to a different unit with them.
Oh, yeah, you did.
You did.
Fight, fight.
Did she look at it first or did you go together to look at it?
We went together.
This one we went together.
There was a couple when she was still in San Diego that I went and toured and I would take a video and everything.
This one, we actually got to see together.
I'm also so weird.
There was ones.
There was a lot of ones we looked at that were great.
and he really liked
and then I would walk in
and I'm like the vibe is off
like I'm so weird
I'm just something
okay so let me
real quickly
that is so true
when I bought the house that I'm in
and my husband was alive
we bought it together
my realtor called me
and said it just came on the market
if you can be over here
so I left work literally
and came over here
it was like 15 minutes from work
and I walked in
it was like Miracle on 34th Street
I called my husband
and I said
He said, I haven't left yet.
I'm in a meeting.
I said, you don't have to bother coming.
We're buying it.
I've already.
I said, you can come and look at it if you want, but we're buying it.
I will say when we walked in this one, initially, I was like, I don't think so.
I don't like it very much.
And I was like, I love it.
I love it.
So I was like, okay, we'll move it.
And I am so happy that I listened to her on that one because it's been perfect.
What did you like when you walked in?
I think that honestly, I think that it's,
all ceilings.
All ceilings.
Yeah.
He didn't, what didn't you like?
I don't remember it was something like very he just,
there was one that we fell in love with,
but it was like way too early to sign a lease when we found it.
And so I think we did both.
We compared everything to that first one.
Yeah.
And he's like, but I don't know.
And I'm like, honey, we have like two weeks left before we need a place.
So you're stressing me out.
I procrastinate some.
How many bedrooms do you guys have?
Just two.
It's two with an office.
With an office.
Well, as long as there's more than one, I'm coming.
Oh, you're coming.
You have a guest bedroom already.
Susan, you're coming too.
There we go.
Susan, like, we can chair bed.
We have many times.
I'm sleeping on the couch and ladies in the rooms.
I was there nine years.
I lived there.
Oh, I really are.
The people are so great.
They are.
They're kind.
Then you get off the plane in the back in Jersey or in New York or Philly.
It's like, yo.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Okay, wait. So who does the cooking? Tell me how you divide the divide and conquer the
chores. How does it work over there? He actually is both good cooks. But he's a better
cook than me, honestly. I don't know if it's better or worse. I just cook more. I eat a lot,
so I cook a lot. He does. In particular about his, like he weighs all of his stuff.
Well, I'm cutting weight right now. I'm going to cut. I get ready for, God get ready for the summer.
I'm like, protein and I'm like, I don't know like, just, well, you just do it.
I don't know what you need.
I don't know.
What's your big thing?
What's your favorite meal to cook, Spencer?
What's your, what's your, you know, what's your meal to impress?
So I apparently have now learned that two things.
One, I make a lot of the same meals.
And two, I make a lot of bowls of just like stuff.
Like I just had potatoes and A.
and steak just in a bowl.
In a bowl?
Yeah.
You don't have a nice big steak.
No, you don't have your chicken potato.
I put it up and I put it all in a bowl.
Yeah.
I'm with you.
Let me tell you.
The size of bowl that he uses is like what you would use.
A salad bowl.
Yes.
Like, I'm not kidding.
I'm like, what is happening?
I'm he, yeah.
I let you as far as finding groceries compared to California.
Oh my gosh.
It's different, isn't it?
Everything here is also so cheap.
Compared to California.
I'm like, this is crazy.
She's like that much.
Like, gas is $2 instead of $7.
It's like, I had so much more in my paycheck.
I'm like, damn.
Welcome to Texas, y'all.
That's so funny.
So you guys, we got to get back to wedding talk here.
Yeah.
Do you, I know you haven't.
plan anything but jess i got to ask you do you even have an idea of what you want your dress to be like
you know i do not i don't have an i i know that there's specific things that like i definitely like
you know these this whole area right here i want that hidden so i don't know what kind of dress
does that it's going to be a winter wedding you all can't see what jess just did what she pointed to
was like the little area by your upper arm and shoulder.
And I'm by that standard.
By that standard, Susan, you and I need to wear paper bags that started our neck
and cover it right down to our feet.
Speak for yourself.
I'm always hot.
I need next to nothing.
Have that you a heat.
That is just, and also I will say this too.
So this is very specific as well that I definitely will be happening at our wedding.
So, you know, typically, like, if you're looking at the bride and groom, like you're in the audience,
the bride is usually on the left.
Oh, I can believe you're saying this.
We're switching that.
We're switching that.
I do weddings, as you know.
I do weddings, as you know.
And one couple said, no, no, no.
We can't see him.
I want to see him the groom side.
So they sat on the opposite side.
I think it's a brilliant idea.
No, no, no.
That's not what she's saying.
She's going to stand.
I'm going to stand on the right side.
I'm going to stand.
Is there a good side?
Yeah.
I was like, I am not going to settle for hating every single one of my wedding pictures
because my right side is the one that's showing.
You're allowed.
So we're switching it.
Okay.
What is that a bridal party?
Do you want a big huge wedding or like really popular like now is not even having anybody in?
We have talked about that too.
We're like, do we want to do a more intimate like destiny?
nation wedding.
They're fun.
They're fun.
With everyone, we're definitely going to have to do something close to Tennessee.
Yeah.
For her mama.
Mama, yeah, she doesn't fly.
And she'll be,
she's fine on a longer drive,
but also like,
I just think it would be so pretty.
I'm from Upper East Tennessee.
It's beautiful there.
So it's like mountains.
And it's,
so we'll most likely do Tennessee.
But I don't know.
We're still,
we're still open.

In 2023, a story gripped the UK, evoking horror and disbelief.
The nurse who should have been in charge of caring for tiny babies is now the most prolific child killer in modern British history.
Everyone thought they knew how it ended. A verdict, a villain, a nurse named Lucy Leppie.
Lucy Lepe has been found guilty. But what if we didn't get the whole story?
The moment you look at the whole picture, the case collapses.
I'm Amanda Knox, and in the new podcast, Doubt, the case of Lucy Lettby,
we follow the evidence and hear from the people that lived it,
to ask what really happened when the world decided who Lucy Lettby was.
No voicing of any skepticism or doubt.
It'll cause so much harm at every single level of the British establishment of this is wrong.

Hi, this is Joe Winterstein, host of the Spirit Daughter podcast, where we talk about astrology,
natal charts, and how to step into your most vibrant life.
And I just sat down with a mini driver.
The Irish traveler said when I was 16, you're going to have a terrible time with men.
Actor, storyteller, and unapologetic, Aquarian visionary.
Aquarius is all about freedom-loving and different perspectives.
and I find a lot of people with strong placements in Aquarius are misunderstood.
A son and Venus in Aquarius in her seventh house spark her unconventional approach to partnership.
He really has taught me to embrace people sleeping in different rooms, on different houses and different places,
but just an embracing of the isness of it all.

I'm Nancy Glass, host of the Burden of Guilt Season 2 podcast.
This is a story about a horrendous lie that destroyed two families.
Late one night, Bobby Gumpright became the victim of a random crime.
He pulls the gun.
tells me to lie down on the ground.
He identified Jermaine Hudson as the perpetrator.
Jermaine was sentenced to 99 years.
I'm like, Lord, this can't be real.
I thought it was a mistaken identity.
The best lie is partial truth.
For 22 years, only two people knew the truth,
until a confession changed everything.
I was a monster.

I'm Clayton Eckerd, and in 2022, I was the lead of ABC's The Bachelor.
Unfortunately, it didn't go according to plan.
He became the first Bachelor to ever have his final rows rejected.

I have a very important question.
Two things.
You know how wedding parties like the new thing is to not have a wedding party?
That's a new trend.
So, but here's my question.
Those two pups of yours have to be in the wedding.
Oh, they will be.
They will.
My daughter had their dog.
That's also my business.
So I'm in the pet business.
Yeah.
That's bad for business if we don't have pets at the wedding.
That's right.
Like I already thought about like we're going to hire a dog sitter to like-
I'll do it.
I'll walk them.
You gotta be there for the ceremony.
Yeah.
Oh.
Yeah.
Wait, aren't the dogs going to be at the ceremony?
Well, yes.
Yes.
My son-in-law's boxer, they have with a boxer together, the dog literally walked up the aisle
with a handler.
Oh, that's amazing.
I don't know if I could train Rue to do that.
She's pretty fine.
We have probably got to train now.
She's smart.
I have a wedding coming late August in Northern California.
It's two women and they're dogs.
They each have a dog and they're the ring barriers.
Both dogs are bringing up a ring.
I go, are you serious?
Do you trust them?
The one thing I am worried about, too,
her finding enough bridesmaids to match how many.
It's like a milk brother.
brothers or don't have any between me it's me and my three brothers so there's four of us and then
at least three three or four friends for sure that are going to and i have no siblings but that's
okay i have i have my best friends and i have plenty of cousins so so wait would you have who are your
best friends from bachelor would any of those people be in a wedding party oh lea for sure we'll be
Yeah.
Yeah.
Do you keep in touch with anybody else or?
Yeah.
We keep in touch with like Alex and Andrew.
Yeah.
We talk to pretty frequently.
I talk to Jonathan.
Leia is my girl.
I talk to Caitlin from my season.
I talked to Lexi from also from my season.
Zach and Katie will talk to.
Yeah.
Because they're really cool.
Actually, that's why we need to visit Austin.
Oh, no, no.
You need to visit Austin for me and Zach and Katie.
And then my one of my best friends.
So outside of my two best friends that live here, my other best friend was on Hannah Brown season long time ago.
So we were friends before he was on the show or I was on the show.
So I guess technically that counts.
But yeah.
Yeah.
Wow.
That's amazing.
So what do you hope 2006 brings?
Ooh.
Ooh.
I have a lot of hopes for 2026.
What about you, babe?
Um, honestly, just like, well, when it comes to us together, just like our growth as a couple.
And I think also like, I'm just so excited to spend all the different things together.
Like our first birthdays together and just like I am such a like memory person.
Like I love making memories.
And yeah.
Yeah, new traditions like all things.
And also like we want to visit a couple new places this year.
Later in the year.
Later in the year.
We got really lucky with we have some flights we have to use before the end of the year.
Yes.
I think we'll be.
Where are you going?
Adventures.
Where are you going?
You know?
Well, one of them's a surprise because it, we are surprising our moms.
Our moms.
Oh, I can't.
Susan.
I can't.
I love these too.
And then we're looking.
Wait, do your moms know that?
they're being surprised?
They know that...
They know that they're going on a trip.
They don't know where they're going.
Do your moms know each other now?
They haven't met in person yet, unfortunately, but on FaceTime, plenty of times.
They want to know each other.
And leaving the dad's home, no dad's allowed?
Well, both of our parents are divorced.
Oh, okay.
You have to do separate.
Yeah, it's going to say Spence and three women.
It wouldn't be a little awkward with both.
Yeah.
Yeah, well, never mind.
And so we have that.
And then we've looked at either Greece or Italy.
Or Seoul.
Yeah.
We have some big play.
We just have to sit down and actually plan it.
But we're going to go on some adventures this year.
And then we have the Bachelor Nation crews coming up.
Yes.
Yeah, we're all going to be there.
We're all going to be there.
We're all going to be there.
I know.
That's going to be so fun.
My mom actually is going to be on that.
So you're good.
You'll get to meet her.
And they expect us to work.
I don't see how.
Once we start.
Wait.
I was telling her that.
I was like, yeah, I can't wait for the cruise.
I'm going to like hang out with the guys.
She's like, you're going to be working.
I'm like, I'm going to be working.
I'm going to be hanging out.
We're going to be late for work.
Yeah.
I'm going to be calling in six to work.
No, Spencer, you're going to be calling.
Here's this can be Spencer.
Okay, everyone, listen up.
W, no, N5, N5, he's going to be called the bingo.
That's going to be Spencer.
We'll be fun because one of the bigger things we have planned is the Chicago Marathon.
Because then he, and I'll be there with the sign.
Yeah.
Wait a minute.
I saw you're running.
Yeah, for autism speak.
So that'll be really, really fun.
Are you a marathon runner, Spencer?
Oh, yeah.
I've ran like squirt to the ultra marathon.
So a 55-filer in Arizona.
Wow.
Yeah.
I would follow them in the car, Jess, with some water.
Yeah.
Yeah, I'm going to be the pit.
But didn't you start running, Jess?
Oh, I did.
Okay.
So that actually is, so the only time I've ever ran is I cheered in high school.
And so we would have to condition in the summer.
But like we would run around the track a couple times, like maybe go a mile.
And like, you start.
We had our first track run on Thursday was?
Well, because he goes all the time.
Like, literally, y'all, on Saturday, he set an alarm for, what was it, four or five?
It was 4 a.m.
He set an alarm because his friends were our training for a different race.
And he wanted to go get some miles in with them.
And he just ran a casual 15 miles on Saturday morning for fun to go hang out with the boys.
17.
Oh, 17.
My bad.
My bad.
But do you remember at the beach?
Spencer, you, I was always on the beach working out and you would, and Spencer, you are at
every morning.
He would run and I'd be the last one.
Actually, fun, fun story for all the podcast listeners here.
Kathy liked to go on walks and not tell anyone she was leaving.
Disappear for like three hours.
So one morning, production came up to me and goes, hey, Spencer, we can't find Kathy.
We know you like to run.
Can you go run and find her?
No, where she is.
So I'm running up the beach
looking for Kathy.
She was five miles
down the beach.
Five miles.
That's her everyday walk her.
I walk five miles every day.
I'm well aware.
I didn't know I was getting into trouble.
And then you guys would go off and run.
And I was like, you know, me like,
what's fair.
I was like, wait a minute.
Spencer's going out and running.
They said, well, you know,
they're safe and they're training.
I was like, what am I doing?
Chop liver?
So yeah, you're right.
And you found me.
Hey, the thing is, you're much more valuable to the show than me.
So they have to keep you safe.
So I was, yo, retrieve Kathy.
I never knew any of this was going on because I was the last person to show up every single
morning like, oh, I know.
I would be laying in bed until they were like, Jess, everyone is out there except
you get off to go and I'm like damn it and let me just say
Jess wakes up rolls out of bed and looks as beautiful as she does right now
I'm lucky are you I okay I have to ask speaking of Paradise perfect segue here
what's something you'd love to see happen at the beach next season I would love to know and
is there anyone besides Kathy here who should get another shot at Paradise first off
Kathy and I think bring Keith back too we need to bring Keith back as well I was about to say and then I would love for my man Jonathan to be able to go on there and find someone yeah I Jonathan's a really good guy and I think that it might just not have been the right you know what I would love to see happen she wants drama what do you want no no no no not true I would like to see us show back up and give some couple advice yes yes yes
You know what?
I think that's a great idea.
I think it's a great idea.
Which one?
I think it's a great idea.
I think it's a great idea.
What did you think with the new twist with all the money and you shocked?
I will say I don't know how they replicate last season again this season because I think that people would.
It was such a shock to us.
He had no clue.
And I do think people would go on for a different reason.
It would get to know each other.
right now and lie about it and go on and try to win.
So I think it would be hilarious.
Maybe that should be a one and done, huh?
One and done.
Or at least like one.
One and then maybe do it again in a couple years when no one.
Surprise.
Yeah.
Yeah, I just think it'd be tough.
I think that I think we got really lucky with the cast we had and the people there,
because with all the money being introduced,
it could have gone a totally different direction.
Yeah.
I think.
Yeah.
And, yeah, no, I'm just, I was really happy to be obviously.
Yeah, you know, Keith promise me he'd send me a quick 50 if we didn't go for the money.
I'm still waiting.
My Beck and I.
Pay up, man.
That's a joke.
Now that's going to be the headline.
That's a joke.
Yeah.
Yeah.
We're all going to be on Facebook.
I do have a question.
Wait, I have one more question about Paradise.
Okay.
Tell me about Dale and Kat.
Break up.
You read my mind.
Oh, sorry, Susan.
Oh.
sorry oh look all of a sudden they got quiet well you know what i was here in dallas we got all the tea just a couple weeks
by we we mean she did yeah um and you know what i think that like obviously there's two sides to every story
but i just think at the end of the day like there wasn't time
being made for the relationship on Dale's side.
And so I think that, you know.
Oh, you mean, wait, I'm sorry, after Paradise you're talking about.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Wait, are you talking about during?
No, no, no, I'm with you.
I just, when you said time for the relationship, I didn't know if you meant pre-bra.
You mean after the fact.
I just think that like he and there's, you know, a lot more of opinions that I have,
but I'm going to keep them to myself in that matter because I just, I don't want to be involved
in the drama but I want what's best for cat she wasn't being treated the way that she deserved
and like don't settle yeah no and she put up with a lot I thought yeah I just think that like yeah
he just he wasn't putting time and effort in fair enough relationship and like it's hard you have
to be able to do that I mean take it from us like we were living in two different places we both
have full-time jobs, like, along with, like, our relationship and doing, trying to do
influencing.
Like, there's so many different things.
And, like, if you're not able to put time into someone, it's not going to work out.
All right.
That does it for today's episode.
But we'll be back for part two with Jess and Spencer later this week.
