We break down budgeting, financial discipline, and how to build real wealth, starting with the

It was like a first like closet moment from me where I was like,

It was special.
And I felt like I was really representing my family, you know, my brand, my city.
I was representing all taqueros, not only of like, you know, the U.S., but of Mexico and beyond.
All the Taquitos of the world.

Welcome back to Golden Hour.
I'm Kathy.
And I'm Joan filling in this week for Susan again.
And Kathy, we are so happy to have you back.
We just did a great interview last week with Hakeem and his new fiancé, Monica.
Not really fiancé yet, but I mean, we kind of have hard launched them, right?
He asked her to marry her.
He asked her to marry him on our podcast.
So they are officially engaged.
And I don't know about you, Joan, but, you know,
Hakeem has been on our podcast a few times.
I've seen him at different bachelor events.
I know you have.
Yep.
Does it just make your heart warm that he and Monica have gotten back together?
They're having this baby.
They just seem so happy together.
They really do.
You know, I think that I kind of fell in love with Hakeem when he was just so,
openly terrified of spiders on his season. He was hilarious. He just has such a great sense of
humor. But we see this whole other side of him because we haven't seen him fall in love.
And now we see him as a boyfriend, as a fiance, as a father to be. And there's this whole
Hakeem that we are just getting to know right now. And I love this Hakeem. I loved him before.
I really love this one. Yeah. And I will tell you, I used to tease him because he and I are both
very gregarious and I've never met a stranger. And I've never met a stranger. And I love him.
And I've said to him before, there's a whole other side to you, Hakeem.
All the bravado, all the jokes, all the laughing, the fast talking.
There is a kind, warm side to you.
You can't fool me.
And I think we saw it in spades on the podcast.
We really did.
But I think Monica brings it out of him.
He seemed like he seems like he's such a caregiver.
And she on like kind of the same way right back to him.
dirty word to me right now, Joan.
I know you're right because we're going to get into that big time.
But I just feel like Monica and he like have such a natural rapport with each other.
Like it's not like they're not working at it at all.
They were like we're kind of meant to be, I feel like.
Yeah.
She's a doll.
She's a doll.
She's lovely.
I think they're going to be great parents and their story is so sweet.
Yeah.
I love it.
And so true for so many people.
I'm glad that they have been so open about sharing it.
That takes a lot of maturity and a lot of kind of putting their life
out there in the open, and I love that they are brave enough to do that.
The two of them are brave, too.
Yeah.
I mean, they're not worried.
They were very open about how racism has affected their relationship, just how they want a parent,
the fact that they're having a child, just all of it.
They're very open, and I just think she's a great addition to Bachelor Nation.
She really is.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And soon they're a little baby girl.
Marley Marie.
Marley Marie.
Okay, but I think that we need to.
get to talk about you. And I know you hate talking about yourself, but you're going to have to
tell us about this journey that you were just on. You and I spoke. We spoke to a couple times last
week. You told me how sick you were. I had no idea, which is very unlike us because we talk a lot.
And I feel like it was a really scary situation. I know you said it was and I felt scared for you.
Do you feel comfortable sharing some of the details? Like what happened?
Yeah, I do. So I'm one of these strange people that when someone else is sick,
I am right there.
What can I bring you?
How can I take care of you?
But when it's me, I'm not so good at that.
I like to just bury myself into a hole.
So basically what happened, I hate saying basically, but here's what happened.
I woke up and felt really sick, and I never run a fever.
And I was running a fever and felt really ill.
And as the day went on, I became more and more ill until, but I didn't realize how ill.
until I called my daughter and said I need to go to the hospital.
And what time was that?
I'm not sure.
I think I woke up at 5.30.
Oh, it was nighttime.
I just can't remember it was 8 or 10 o'clock at night because by then my fever was so high.
A time sort of just and I didn't realize the, my daughter came over came over and I mean this part was funny except I was too sick.
She said to me, Mom, did you get your lips injected?
And I couldn't even talk.
By that point, I couldn't talk.
When I got to the hospital, they thought I'd had a stroke, which I did not have.
But my lips, my whole face was inflamed, my lips.
So I was admitted.
They diagnosed me with having pneumonia.
So could you hold on one second?
So you let yourself, now this is so you, Kathy, and I hope you learned a lesson from this,
because you let yourself go from morning, 5 a.m.
It's dark outside, which means it's at least nine, just letting that fever grow and get worse and get worse and get worse.
to the point where you were hardly able to advocate for yourself.
I could.
So,
so let me just jump ahead.
You're absolutely right.
But I went down so quickly and I couldn't, by the time I couldn't talk.
I realized in that minute, and that's what I want people to know.
You know, it's no, it's no joke.
It is damn right scary.
When I got there, you know, my heart rate was dropping.
my temperature was 102.7 and that was with Tylenol.
I just was, I couldn't talk.
And I could hear people talking about me, but I couldn't really respond.
And so in that moment, I realized, I literally, not to sound, you know, ridiculous, I thought this might be the end of the road for me.
That's, but I couldn't talk.
And so I think what I learned.
So you were just in their hands.
You're like, just do what you need to do.
I cannot advocate for myself at all.
Well, so I couldn't.
But here's the thing.
When my parents were sick or my children were sick, I know you'll, you know, this comes
as a shock zone, but I am very vociferous.
I am like, let's talk to me, what are we going to do?
I want a game plan.
I don't sit back and say, they're the doctors.
They know, uh-uh.
But in that moment, I was so sick.
I couldn't, I couldn't advocate.
I couldn't talk.
And so, you know, they had me hooked up to heart.
My heart rate kept dropping.
They didn't know.
They didn't know where the swelling came from.
They didn't know why I couldn't talk.
Yeah.
I know there was a point there that you were not giving great care because you didn't go to the hospital at first.
You did not go to the hospital.
You went to an urgent care.
Well, but I have to say, I thought I had flu or COVID because I had a fever.
I was throwing up and that's what started.
And then I became, you know, semi-conscious.
But I really thought I had flu or COVID.
So my daughter, God, love her.
had I been cognizant when he said it wasn't COVID,
I could hear him, but I couldn't respond.
Get me out of here and take me straight to an ER,
to a hospital, which finally my son, who is, you know, an EMT,
and my daughter woke him up and his wife,
and they came to this standalone ER, which, you know,
I can't say enough bad things about it because this guy took advantage of me
and kept retesting.
And finally my son said, I get, we're leaving now, give me the pay.
papers. I'm driving. He literally said to me, I heard it. He said, if you drive yourself to the hospital,
you could die on the way. So this, this scary, though. This is really scary. I'm so glad you're
telling the story that this doctor chose to keep you there and continue to run test until you were so
sick that he thought you could die on the way to the hospital. Exactly. Bad care. Such
care. And I'm going to write, I don't typically write nasty things, but I am going to use my social
media platform because that place should be closed down.
Because when they got me there, they hooked me up.
I can't even tell you, I had heart monitors everywhere.
I had, they started IV.
I don't know because I was basically not unconscious, but I couldn't do anything.
And the fever was so high.
So yeah, it was a miserable time at the hospital.
The nurses were great.
Everyone took great care of me.
But I just, I think what I learned was, things,
can go self very quickly. Really fast, yeah. Very quickly. And I did not, you know, that's the sad thing
about living alone. You know, you, you, and I'll be honest, I hated to bother my kids. Yeah,
I know we all feel that way. We don't want to be a burden on them. I don't want to be a burden.
I don't know. It's nighttime. I know your daughter has a kid. You didn't want to bother her.
Thank God you did. She did say, Mom, I wish you'd called me earlier, but yeah, I didn't know how sick,
you know, you don't know. I know. So tell me, so you got to the hospital and you have,
had this really high temperature, but you're, it sounds like you have very odd symptoms. So when you
usually have pneumonia, you're short of breath, you know, there's other things. You might have a
high temperature, but you can normally talk. Did they suspect anything different? I mean,
you said maybe a stroke. What was it really? Obviously, you didn't have a stroke.
No, but they, I don't know what they did. I can't tell you, but they somehow ruled out a stroke.
Yeah. And my kids kept saying, no, they, my kids kept saying my mom's really fit. She walks five miles a
day she, because my heart rate was very low. Although when it dropped to 43, that's not normal
great athlete. You know, Brady, Brady, whatever is like in the 50s. My normal heart rate's about 60s,
but so yeah, I don't know. It's, it, in retrospect, it was one of the scariest things. And,
and I told you this, Jared on the phone, but I, it was the only, you know, I, I'm nothing if not a
dedicated worker because I was trying to tell my daughter to reach out to the producers to say I
couldn't do my podcast last week, which is why you and Jonathan did it. But I couldn't, you know,
their names are hard to pronounce. And so I'm, apparently she figured it out because she did,
even though, but that was my concern, not that I was dying, but that I couldn't do the podcast.
I have to say when when I got the message asking if I could do, if I could sub in for you,
or that I was already subbing in for Susan.
They told me Jonathan was going to be subbing in for you.
I thought that is so unlike Kathy.
I was like, she must be really, really sick.
You know, I didn't want, I don't honestly, as gregarious as I am and is talking of,
I'm more of a take care of person.
I don't, you know, I don't want to make a big to do about me.
And so I didn't want people to know because I didn't want people, you know,
what can I do?
What can I do?
Right, right.
But I will say to you.
get recover. It is, it's no joke. First, I have not been, I've been out of the hospital now a few days and
I was there for five days and they were going to send me home. My heart rate kept dropping and,
you know, it wasn't fun. You're a sick girl if they're keeping you for five days. They don't keep
you in the hospital for five days. Can I ask you a question about this though? So you said that the fact that
you live alone made this maybe a little more scary when you look back on it. Does, did your age also
make this scarier? Because I know that things. No, because.
It should Joan.
Because pneumonia, when you're over the age of 60, is a serious, you know, people,
oh, that's the other thing.
People kept saying, I remember they kept asking my kids, did she have the pneumonia vaccine,
which I did have.
But this pneumonia was some rare pneumonia, you know, whatever that wasn't, the shot would
not affect it.
I am not an anti-vaxxer.
I know some people out there are, but Mazel, good for you.
That's not my thing.
but
were you short of breath
I don't know because I couldn't really
yeah I guess
it was like an out of body experience
I can't explain it to you I couldn't
really answer questions
very much and like I remember
my son and his wife
my daughter-in-law came
I thought they were there but I wasn't sure
but and I couldn't eat
I couldn't just it was
very very strange they don't know they call it
idiopathic, which means, I don't know.
So I guess I can go to medical school.
I can be a doctor.
But now I can, I will tell you, Joan, I can read every screen.
I know what they mean.
I know what the monitors.
You know, I know, I know.
When you have to go to the bathroom, I had like four things that had to be disconnected.
And I know you'll find this a shock.
I said to the nurses, even though I was really sick, once I could talk, I said,
look, you guys have sick patients in here.
Just teach me how to unplug all this so I can go to the bathroom and not have to bother you.
And so they did.
They taught me.
But what they didn't tell me, one of the heart monitors, I had like, I can't tell you,
I had monitor, like, Pat, what do they call them, those things that are stuck to your skin.
Yeah, the sensor thingies.
Sensors, thank you.
On my legs, on my chest, so many of them.
And the way you unplug it is from this heavy couple of pound device.
you just, well, I thought that's what you did.
So I unplugged it and went to the bathroom and got back in bed.
And then they came in to check and they said, why is there five minutes?
Like, they said, you know, you could have been dead.
And I said, well, I'm not dead and no one came running.
So you might want to check this.
I've been unhooked for five minutes.
I was unhooked.
I didn't know.
I had no clue.
So I just unplug the damn thing.
Of course.
But, you know, I am fine.
no one need worry
my kids were amazing
I will say to you
I will never mess around
if I have a fever the next time
I'm going straight
because by the way
I'm on Medicare
and this standalone emergency room
does not accept Medicare
so it costs me
when I take you an arm and a leg
a vacation for what they did
in there and I couldn't advocate
and say stop get me to a hospital
yeah this isn't you're not this isn't working here

What Kugler did that I think was so unique.
He's the writer-director.
Who do you think he is?
I don't know.
You mean the, like, the president?
You think it goes to the president?
You think Canada has a president.
You think China has a president.
Those law crusette.
God, I love that thing.
I use it all the time.
I wrap it in a blanket and sing to it at life.

It is an actual Polish saying.
Yeah.
It is an actual Polish saying.

I got that wrong.

Let me ask you a question about, okay, you're laying there.
you know you are sick as a dog, you're thinking this could be it.
Yeah.
Did that have you...
I'm thinking it's my will in order.
Yeah.
But did you, were you laying there thinking, like, I need to reevaluate some of the priorities
in my life.
Is there something that you thought when you had this moment that you're bringing, like,
you're taking away from it now?
I couldn't think that deeply, Joan.
Honestly, I just, I couldn't.
I was just lying there coming in and out, like hearing things trying, I, no, I didn't.
I honestly did not. Okay, how about now? Like, okay, so now you now look back on it a little bit.
I look back and I am grateful that I have family, you know, I have a son and daughter.
And both married who live here and, you know, they came running. And I so appreciate that.
It makes me, if I'm being really honest with you, which I always am, it makes me sad that I don't have someone in my life that could have been there for me.
Right.
I will say some people that I thought would reach out didn't.
Very, you know, so, but again, it's just, I, it, that's not the point of this whole thing.
The point for me was, you know, I got sick.
I don't know why.
Yeah, crazy.
I just have to.
Went down quickly.
It went down really quickly.
So fast.
And I came back relatively quickly, you know, relatively.
And now I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I haven't been back to the gym yet.
I'm taking it slow because, you know, I don't, I don't want to go back to the hospital.
I don't want to repeat.
No, no, no, no.
But, yes.
When I talked to you last week, you had even lost your appetite and like, that happens to a lot of people.
Is that better?
Are you feeling a little bit about that?
Not really.
I got to be honest.
Not great.
I mean, you know, I, I, I, I, I, you know, I, I, you know, me and my humor, it's like,
you want to lose a quick nine pounds.
Go to, I mean, I haven't been this thin, you know, you.
You know, and they, that's the other thing, Joan.
They come in and weigh you in the hospital.
I'm not kidding, at 2.30 in the morning.
Wake you up, stand you up on a scale.
I guess because I was dropping weight so fast.
I don't know.
But I'm trying to eat.
I'm trying to take care of myself.
But I guess I am grateful for family and people who love me.
If I'm being honest, I don't like that I don't have someone in my life to, you know,
to share the sick, the.
good times and the bad times, right? Right, right. To have some, a caregiver or a person that would have
recognize this as you were going down. Right. Who would have said, oh, no, we're not playing this game.
You're getting worse. Yeah. And, and you understand in that moment, like I said, when my daughter
said, did you get your lips injected? I was like, what? Like, I really sounded drunk. Yeah.
But when I looked at you, she goes, have you not looked in the mirror? No, because I wouldn't get out of bed.
Yeah. And you're probably totally dehydrated. I mean, like all those things that you need to be taking care,
especially when you have a temperature, you were not doing any of the,
those things and you just tanked i was trying to drink but you know you get behind very quickly and
that's honestly i really thought i was going to go to this standalone er they were going to give me a
covid test a flu test they were going to give me whatever that tamiflu and put a bag of uh fluid in me
to hydrate me and then take a home and take Tylenol that's where i thought this was way worse than
what you were thinking but you know what i'm grateful i'm here i'm grateful to be back at my
podcast. I'm grateful that you are here
subbing them for Susan. I'm grateful for
all the people that have sent me well wishes.
And those of
you who are over 60,
please take a lesson from me.
If you find yourself
ill, it's not, it's like being an infant and being
ill. It goes, it can go bad
really quickly. So quickly. Don't sit there
and play around with it. You know, get to an ER.
The worst thing that can happen is they say
you know, you're fine.
the home, whatever. The downside is so much worse. And I was stupid. I fully admit it. I was absolutely
an idiot, but I didn't know how sick I was. And that's the lesson I've learned. I think part of the
problem is when you're that sick, you just want to sleep. And so you sleep through you getting worse.
Yeah, but I should have, you know, I'm a smart girl, Joan. I should have known when I couldn't talk,
when I couldn't get up, physically couldn't get out of bed anymore. I should have, you know, I should
have just called 911. I mean, it could have, and then hearing that guy say,
that you could have died on the way if you didn't take the ambulance. It's so scary. My son,
stopped him right away and said, my son, I said, who's an EMT, said, let's go. Get her in the car
out of here. And, you know, just, we're out of here. And thank, you know, I'm thankful to my
children. Yeah. Thank God he's an EMT because, I mean, I think you probably felt pretty safe being in a car
with him, as opposed to somebody that had no medical training. So thank goodness your kids were
there. Well, I just want to say that we love you. We are so,
happy you're back.
Thanks, John.
So I hope that you're recovering.
Let's move on to some fun stuff.
What do you think?
Okay.
In case you missed it, Bachelor Nation News.
Okay, there's so much going on while I was in the hospital and since then.
Joan, have you watched Vanderpom Villa?
I have not.
I haven't, but no, I kind of like see snippets of it.
I think the concept is so, so, so fun.
And I heard so much about it on Secret Lives of Mormon Wives
because there's a whole scandal that occurred.
So I know a lot about it.
But I did, you know, some of our Bachelor people are there this time.
Oh, finally, we have Bachelor.
It was invited to the villa.
And I'm so excited to go.
I got to say, it wasn't just charity.
No, no, no.
No.
And Jets, Ariel, Mercedes, Sean, a couple other ones.
But Maria, who has gone silent in our world.
I know.
And she always made a really good TV.
So I think she's going to be, I think she's going to be a star in Vanda-Varla.
I'm dying.
to watch it, I certainly am going to.
I love that charity and Dotten are there.
I love a strong couple being there
because a lot of Vanderpunt Villa is a lot of singles.
And, you know, these,
they are, you know, they are such a great
representation of Bachelor Nation,
a couple that has worked, a couple that's strong,
but still knows how to have fun.
So I love that they are there.
They celebrated Don't know's birthday.
It was his 33rd birthday, I think.
Yeah.
And I was like, well, that's one hell of a way
to celebrate your birthday, right?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And I think Maria maybe had, from what I understand, had a moment there.
So I'm dying to see a Maria moment because I haven't seen one in a while.
And she is always entertaining.
People, don't you love it that they're...
I love it.
And it should be asked when to Golden's.
When do Goldens get to go to Vanderpunt Villa?
I really feel like we know how to like attend a dinner party and be entertaining.
I remember years ago, someone said to me, when somebody invites you to a party or
especially to a dinner party where it's a smaller group, your job is to,
to be, like, be worthy of being there.
Be entertaining.
Do something fun.
Do, you know, be part of the conversation.
Make sure that you entertain.
So I just want to, like, raise my hand and say,
Lisa Vanderpump, you and I met.
I've met her one time.
She sat next to me at an event.
Like, we go away back, girl,
and you should be inviting some goldens to Vanderpump.
Okay.
And Lisa, I've never met you, but there's no time like the present.
And I know how to use a fish fork.
I know what silverware is, which knife goes.
Oh, yeah.
My grandmother, truly.
it was always, in case you ever go to the White House
for lunch, darling, my dear, you must know.
And so literally she taught us all, you know, the forks, which one was which.
So I can do it.
I will not, I will make bachelor nation proud.
Me too, I'll make bachelor's proud.
I am no, I did not grow up in a sophisticated home,
but I do know which silver ready.
So I am ready and I love good wine, girl, so I'm ready to come.
Oh, by the way, can I just say one more thing about my hospital?
Say you just reminded me?
Yeah, yeah.
You didn't have wine.
I have not had a drink now in, I think it's 12 days.
And you know what pisses me off?
When they put you on these IV antibiotics and God knows what else I've been on,
because I'm still on a bunch of pills, I have no taste for alcohol.
Zero.
That's very sad.
And I think we're going to, I don't know what we're going to do with you, Kathy.
So if I go to Vanderpump Villa by then, I promise I'll be drinking again.
You know what?
I'll come and we'll get you started.
We'll take it slow.
We'll take it slow because you know I'm a totally wimpy drink.
I can only drink like a glass of wine.
We'll still have fun, John.
All right, what else is in the news?
What else you got?
Bachelorette Brandon reveals.
He's really been talking to Jesse Draper from Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.
What do you think about that?
Well, he's, if I read it all right, if I read my news, he's not talking to her.
He's got a good friend who wanted to talk to Jess.
The good friend is him.
You think it is?
Yes, because that's like a whole code.
Like, I have a friend who.
Oh, see, I'm old.
Oh, Kathy, I thought you knew that one.
No, it's him.
He's just saying, like, I have a friend who wants to meet you, and I have a friend
do whatever.
So that is hilarious, Kathy.
I can't believe that you didn't get into it.
That's what I should.
I love giving everyone a good laugh.
I mean, I will say, I thought it for one second, is he talking about himself?
I thought, no, he's, he's, he's, because see, that's what I would do.
I'm being honest, Joan, if I knew a got, well, you're taken, but, you know, I would
hook somebody up if I, hey, Nancy, hey, Susan, hey, hey,
Leslie. I got this guy. Let me get in let you start texting. That's how naive I am. I would be like.
You would be trying to do that. Well, he's keeping her all for himself. Okay. Well, here's what I'm
going to say to old Brandon. Um, I think that, uh, it's just two things I want to say. Number one,
Brandon, if it is you, uh, the fact that you said your friend, that is yourself isn't a blonde
brunette or redhead? Pick one guy. Pick one. Like number one. And number two,
she's just coming off a divorce.
Is she not?
Well, I'm not even sure she's divorced yet.
I mean, she's officially separated.
So what do you do?
You want to be the get over guy?
Or do you want to be the next guy?
Or you just want to have great sex?
Whatever.
Brandon, whatever floats you about, you know, you, your friend and I, we can all get together.
Check out.
The threesome.
Now the foursome.
Yeah, now the foursome.
Yeah.

We really believe that seed oils were inherently inflammatory.
We got it wrong.
Many of the problems that we are freaked out about in the world are the result of stress.
Put yourself through some hardships, and you will come out on the other side a happier, more fulfilled, healthier person.

I'm Dr. Maya Shunker, a cognitive scientist and hosts of the podcast, a slight change of plans,
a show about who we are and who we become when life makes other plans.
We share stories and scientific insights to help us all better navigate these periods of turbulence and transformation.
There is one finding that is consistent, and that is that our resilience rests on our relationships.
I wish that I hadn't resisted for so long the need to change.
We have to be willing to live with a kind of uncertainty that none of us likes.

I feel like it was a little bit unbelievable until I really start making much.
It's Financial Literacy Month, and the podcast Eating While Broke is bringing real conversations about money, growth, and building your future.
This month, hear from top streamer Zoe Spencer and venture capitalist Lakeisha Landrum-Pierre, as they share their journeys from starting out to leveling up.
If I'm outside with my parents and they're seeing all these people come up to me for pictures, it's like, what?
Today now, obviously, it's like 100%.
They believe everything, but at first it was just like, you got to go get a real job.
There's an economic component to communities thriving.
If there's not enough money and entrepreneurship happening in communities, they fail.
And what I mean by fail is they don't have money to pay for food.
They cannot feed their kids.
They do not have homes.
Communities don't work unless there's money flowing through them.

When you listen to podcasts about AI and tech and the future of humanity, the hosts always
act like they know what they're talking about and they are experts at everything. Here,
the Nick Dick and Poll show, we're not afraid to make mistakes. What Coogler did that I think was
so unique. He's the writer-director. Who do you think he is? I don't know. You mean it
the like the president? You think Canada has a president? You think China has a president?
Does law a crusette. God, I love that thing. I use it all the time. I wrap it in a blanket and
sing to it at night.
It's like the old Polish saying, not my monkeys, not my circus.
Yep.
It was a good one.
I like that snake.
It is an actual Polish saying.
Yeah, it is an actual Polish saying.
Better version of Play Stupid Games, win stupid prizes.
Yes.
Which, by the way, wasn't Taylor Swift who said that for the first time.
I actually, I thought it was.
I got that wrong.
Listen to the Nick Dick and Paul show on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
I think Jesse is adorable.
So do I.
I think Brandon is going to shoot his.
shot and do it anyway he can figure out how.
Okay, mom, is it too early to shoot his shot?
Hmm.
Yeah, maybe.
But, you know, we've only seen this kind of play out on TV.
This could have happened, you know, months and months and months or a year ago.
She wasn't divorced months ago, was she?
No, she, like, they're, so I've watched the whole thing and their marriage has been
rocky for a long time.
Actually, since she went on Vanderfond Villa.
I know.
I know it was rocky, but, I mean, come.
I mean, I've never been divorced either of you.
but it just doesn't seem like the, I know I'm going to take so much heat for this
and probably never get to go to Vanderpump Villa for saying this, but, you know, me, I've got to be
honest.
I'm sorry, if you just want to hop in bed and have some great sex, go for it, Brandon, friend.
But if you're looking for a relationship, blonde, brunette, or redhead, me give it a beat.
You know, take a beat and just see what happens.
Let her be single for a while.
I bet she has a lot of people that are trying to get.
get to be with her. She's beautiful. She actually was really vulnerable on Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. She
told her truth. She talked about, you know, kissing the guy at the Vanderbent Villa. I mean,
she was super honest. I think that she endeared herself to a lot of people and she's, and she was very
accountable. I think she's a pretty cool girl. I met her. I met her at dancing with her
everybody. I'm just a lowly podcaster here. You know, Joan's out there hanging with all the big,
Oh, please.
Farmer wants a wife interviewer.
I don't want to hear about you.
They're adorable.
I know.
We should talk about that too.
All right.
Well, now that I've embarrassed myself,
we're going to see what happens with Brandon and Jesse,
but I'm going with
take a beat
unless you just want a quick roll on the hay.
I say shoot your shot, Brandon.
She's a catch.
Okay.
All right.
All right.
How about, now this one, I have to say,
I love Andrew,
Spencer and Alex so much. I love their relationship. I watched it bloom on Paradise last summer.
I talk with them on the phone. I love them, love them, love them. So the fact that he is DMing Justin Bieber
and that he and his wife, Haley, think that Andrew's the best thing since sliced bread. I mean, by association,
I got to tell you, by association, I know Justin and Haley because I feel the same way.
My mind is blown that Justin Bieber and Haley watched The Bachelor.
The Bachelor just went from the greatest show on Earth to the greatest show in the universe
because now we know Justin Bieber and Haley Bieber watch the show that we were on.
I am like, I was speechless when I read this.
I could not believe it.
Yeah, I was like the guys got everything.
Don't you love that?
Justin Bieber took the time to DM, like a person that is just...
Joan.
there's called voice texting. Like, let's not say that the guy sat down for an hour and composed a love letter, okay?
The fact that he did it at all. I mean, that even thought to like, hey, I'm going to send this guy a message.
I'm going to send him a message. Like, I'm like the guy that lives down the street that.
Hey, I got a message from Brian Austin Green. You know, you're not the only one who hob knobs with the special people.
You are. Yeah. Okay. So wait. I have to ask you this, though. Yeah. Do you think the Bieber's watched our show?
I think they watched my show.
Why would you say that?
I'm just because I'm on drugs.
I'm on all kinds of drugs.
Oh, right.
Thank you, I'm joking.
I think they probably, I don't know if they watched who show.
I mean, I don't know.
I think people were very interested in the Golden Bachelor.
I do.
So I think the chances, honestly, are good that they've watched,
if not all of our seasons, portions of the three shows.
That's what I think.
Yeah.
Yeah, I mean, they certainly probably watch the younger shows because they kind of relate to them better more than our.
So I'm happy that they, I just love it that they watched Andrew Spencer.
Because he just like had my heart.
I always remember that last time at, on Paradise, when he was surprised that Alex walked in.
He was like, I thought you were going to take the money.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
He just, like, he had my heart then.
I don't know if Justin Bieber watched that.
I don't know if you watch Bachelor or Bachelor or if you watch.
Well, Justin, if you didn't go back and watch it.
But before we leave this whole thing, you know, because they were at Coachella, you know,
this is like totally going off script.
But Joan, you who are a fashion maven, I, not so much.
Thank you.
You are.
See, I said the nice things.
Thank you.
But here's my question.
I was watching all the Bachelor Nation posts about all the crowds, you know,
our friends and loved ones at Bachelor Nation at Coachella.
Yep.
And I'm like, is this a, is this New York, is this like Indio, California Fashion Week?
So much.
Or is this a music concert?
Because I think it's all about what they had on.
Like those girls, I love their outfits.
I almost said costumes.
I love what they had on.
But like, is it a thing?
I'm asking, I don't know the answer.
Is it a thing where who can outdo whom on the fashion plate thing for these?
Because stage coach, I think, is this weekend or next weekend.
Like, is that what this is about, or is it about hearing music?
Because the only music, I, Sabrina Carpenter, Justin Bieber, a couple of the big names.
Like, is it, what's it about?
Tell me.
So I think all of the above, you know, I think it started out as a concert and it became the place
to go and be seen.
I think that everybody is sending, like, Bachelor Nation has people going, secret lives,
you know, all of the shows, all the reality shows, all the, everybody is sending their people
there, and it's where you go to be seen.
So you are going with your best outfits.
And I think people, you know, shop for months deciding with the rain.
I remember I watched Daisy.
And she revealed all of what the outfits that she was bringing to Coachella.
And each one was better than next.
And I was like, oh, my gosh.
And I was having a hard time picturing them.
And then I saw pictures with she and her fiance.
And I was like, okay, that outfit so worked.
You were so right about that outfit.
Like, I mean, she's like, I'm going to wear these with boots.
I think I'm like, oh, really?
So you and I do not, this is not our world.
if they asked us, it would be, we would be dying and we wouldn't know what to wear.
Yeah, well, it is absolutely, Joan, the influencer Olympics.
That is not by, it is, but I'll tell you what, that is one Olympics.
I will not be attending.
I actually have a friend.
You know, he lives out there, a friend of mine, and he doesn't go.
But if he did, he'd be in flip-flops and shorts and a T-shirt, and that's probably how I'd go and totally embarrass myself.
But I just, I could not believe the incredible.
outfits. It's the place to be seen. If you are anybody, you are at Coachella these days. And that's,
I mean, the music is taken almost a backseat to what they're wearing. I think you're right.
You're either, let me just say, you're either at Coachella or you're in a step down from
intensive care in the hospital fighting pneumonia. It's one of the other, you know.
You would have been there otherwise. Yeah, I mean, I would have been there in my amazing.
Yes. Exactly. All right, everyone. That's it for part one. We're going to be back tomorrow,
answering some of your questions. See you soon.
