Here's a clip from an upcoming conversation about how to be a better you. When you think about emotion regulation, you're not going to choose an adaptive strategy, which is more effortful to use, unless you think there's a good outcome. Avoidance is easier. Ignoring is easier. Denials is easier. Complex problem solving. takes effort. Listen to the psychology podcast on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. And it is a very exciting week because I not only have my girl, Catherine, on with me again as my co-host today. But everyone, the countdown for Katie's season is officially on. And I can't believe that we are just one week away. So I figured why not have somebody that was there? throughout the entire season with Katie as a mentor, a friend.
Starting point is 00:02:02 She brought in a girl gang. That is why I figured we had to have our dear friend, Caitlin Bristow, on. Hopefully, she can shed some light on what we can expect with Katie's season. She can maybe give us a little tea, some tidbits of what went on behind the scenes. So before that, Catherine, how have you been throughout this past week? And are you so excited for this next week? Yeah, I'm really excited about what. watching the new season. I mean, first of all, everyone keeps asking, okay, how is it going to be
Starting point is 00:02:31 having the two bachelorets back to back and knowing who they are ahead of time? But I'm just curious to see her as a lead and if she finds love. And first night is always my favorite. It's just there's no filters. No one has any clue what they're doing. And that's always most entertaining for me as a viewer. So I'm super excited for next week. Yeah. It's always, it's such a crazy dynamic. Like you said, you never know what to expect. You bring in 20, to 30 new bodies that, you know, are trying to date and meet somebody for the first time, but yet they're meeting all these other people that they're potentially going to be, like, living with and dating the same person with. It's just, it's chaotic, but in the most
Starting point is 00:03:11 fun, exciting way. And that's why, like, that's why I love watching the show. There's just nothing like that first night atmosphere. Obviously, there's so much that goes into it. So taking yourself back to your first night on The Bachelor, what were some of the things going through your mind like what was your body feeling like do you remember those moments well i remember getting in getting prepped so like getting my mic on and having there's five of us in the first and i was in the first limo but there's five of us in the limo together and everyone looked so good and you could kind they weren't really placing us together until we got in the limo and so just being being part of that was super exciting super nerve-wracking but you could also tell that no one really had confidence that
Starting point is 00:03:53 first night. So at least you were within a group of women that you knew, okay, none of us know what's going on. No one has the upper hand here. So let's all just be ourselves. And I had a blast that first night. Like, Sean Lowe gave away roses one, like not at the end of the night. So not you got, he gave him away throughout the night. So I got mine, um, ahead of the rose ceremony. So it put me at ease. So that probably helped a lot, knowing that I had a rose to stay. Right. But it was, I made quick friends. And like, you get to see people that you want to root for that first night, like as a viewer. So I'm excited to see who we're going to. And if that stays, right? We're like, ooh, I like that guy, but it might change. So what I'm excited about,
Starting point is 00:04:40 there's always been this like old wives tale, if you will, that whoever the, the bacheloretts, not bachelors, but bachelors. Whoever they give their first impression rose to, that's who will be at the end. That's going to be like basically the last man standing because it was for Caitlin, Jojo, Rachel, and same for me. And so there was like this weird pressure
Starting point is 00:05:03 since then it's kind of changed, but I'm interested to see if that, if Katie's rose will live up to that expectation or not. I totally forgot about that. So that they like predict it. Because women know. Mm-hmm. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:15 Women know quickly. We just fielded in our guts. Yeah. So with that, I mean, we can just talk on end about how excited we are. But why not just bring Caitlin Bristow on now? Because like I said, she was there with Katie as her friend and mentor, somebody to give advice, to be a shoulder to cry on throughout the season. I can't wait to pick her brain and get a little bit more about what to expect,
Starting point is 00:05:37 a little bit behind the scenes. So ladies and gentlemen, without further ado, let's bring on our dear friend and newly engaged young in love, Caitlin Bristow. Caitlin, we are so pumped to have you here today. So much has happened in the past couple weeks with you. So we want to first start by saying congratulations to you and Jason. We are so freaking excited with everything that has transpired in the past couple weeks. So welcome to the podcast and give us a lowdown about how you've been, how your vacation was, all of that. Well, thank you. And also, sorry about your loss because he should have been, he's the one that got away. that you all the time. Hey, I saw that ring and I thought the same thing. Oh my gosh. No,
Starting point is 00:06:24 he's so great. I'll never forget when you told me like when I said, hey, is it weird or can I like date him? And you said, as long as you treat him like a king because he's going to treat you like a queen. And I was like, wait, it's so funny that you brought up that conversation because I was thinking about this before you got on. That night that you texted me was actually the first night. ever met Catherine. We were in New York for an event together. We did our event. I got back to the hotel and got your text. And so I feel like we've come just full circle with this. Yeah, it was all in the same night. That's bananas. Well, that's, that is a little full circle moment. But yeah, it's been, it's been like a nonstop celebratory time. Like, I'm dancing with the stars,
Starting point is 00:07:09 I've never received so much champagne. And now I'm like, I thought I would get sick of it. Now I just, That's all I want to drink now because that's what we have. And NECA, you know how I feel. I'll send you some. Yeah, we are enjoying all of the celebrations in the champagne. And it just has been nonstop since the second he proposed, we literally have just been on this freaking, I don't know, joy ride roller coaster.
Starting point is 00:07:35 You should, as you should. Yeah, emotions and talking to family. And we have four meetings tomorrow with four different wedding planners to decide. who we want to pick. And so then it's going to be full on from there because we want a short engagement. How fun. Well, so I shouldn't push our listeners to go check out your podcast. I know that's kind of, you know, like a conflict of interest, but I love you so much. And I have to say, I listened to the podcast that you thought you were recording with Jason. He's like, ha, this is actually not going to, you know, be a thing. But thank goodness it is because
Starting point is 00:08:12 anyone can go there and listen to how he actually proposed and what he said to you. And your reaction, Caitlin, was priceless. But it was so you. That's the thing. It was so you. And I have to be honest, so I had it on my speaker as I was like bopping around the kitchen, making breakfast. And I'm tearing up listening to the two of you. And Minow's just like staring up at the speaker being like, what the heck are those noises coming from? Because you're just like, screaming and so excited but um for anyone who wants to check out that beautiful proposal it's just it's perfect for the two of you and that's how you guys met um but i'm so thrilled for you guys have you have you started like do you kind of know beyond a short engagement what else you
Starting point is 00:08:59 want for the wedding um well thank you for saying that too because it was such a beautiful moment and i i actually ripped out his headphones because he was like well he said it's not a podcast so and i was like you don't have to keep those in and i like took them out And I really didn't think we were going to release it. So I was just like swearing. I was totally being myself, which of course I always am on my podcast. But that is why I should never get engaged to like I propose to on TV because it'll just be a bunch of swear words coming out of my mouth. But yeah, it was so beautiful.
Starting point is 00:09:29 Everything he said was perfect. I'm so glad we had it recorded because I definitely blacked out. And so did he. And now I'm blacking out on your next question. What was it? Have you, do you have any more wedding plans besides just a quick engagement? I think we'll find out more now when we talk to and have our wedding planner. I don't know where we want to have it.
Starting point is 00:09:49 I don't know when. I just know like basically as soon as we can get the ball rolling, like however long that will take to put on. I want it to be like a great Gatsby like black tie event, like very glam, which is so opposite of what I thought I would want. Because four years ago I would have been like, I want bohemian. I want it farm style. Like I just keep changing my mind.
Starting point is 00:10:10 But, yeah, we basically just know that we want it to be, hopefully, in the summer of 2022, like early summer. We want it to be, like, super chic. And Jason wants it to be big. I want it to be more intimate. So we're going to have to learn our compromising skills. That's a little bit more. Well, knowing how. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:37 Yeah, Catherine, do you have any advice for her since you obviously went through them? Yeah. especially in the public eye. Oh, gosh. Well, I mean, obviously you guys know what you like. So that's already number one, not having someone guide you in that. But just be present in each. I always say that's about anything, but mostly just be present in every part of it.
Starting point is 00:10:57 Because it's going to be exciting and you're going to want to remember it all. And make sure you do it with him. I know he's probably not going to want to do a bunch of the stuff. But just different memories come when you're together and doing something so profound. you want to hear his opinions and you'll probably get your way but um just be present with him because this is your guys's time yeah and it's your event and it's your celebration so remember and then one thing that i don't know do you know um anyways one of my favorite things of advice for the wedding day is don't let go of his hand because people are going to pull you every which way and like
Starting point is 00:11:36 obviously you can do that at some point but it's again people come to you you it's about you two together and if you guys ever have any memories apart it's kind of hard because you're like oh uncle blah blah blah came over here i did this and if you guys are together and you guys can be talking to other people but like holding hands that's what we did and it like made the night so nice because that's what it's about right it's not about just going over yes i haven't heard that one before somebody told me to act like i was a guest at my own wedding so that i was just having fun i wasn't worrying about things and like yeah but i like that one too because yeah it is our night together. And I know we both are very guilty of being pulled apart and just going with the
Starting point is 00:12:14 flow. But that's good advice because I do want to remember it together. Yeah. Yeah. That's my advice. I do have one question because I know how much you and Jason love to sing and dance and just like have the most absolute blast that you can. Will there potentially be karaoke at the wedding? We want to have like a piano man. I know his brother at his wedding they had a I think they had a band and then a piano man and he said that is something he will never forget from any wedding because everyone came together and was singing and so we really like that idea I'm like I want a band a DJ and then a piano man okay what about what how epic is your first dance going to be is he going to dance like
Starting point is 00:13:04 is he going to do choreo I want our Artem to choreograph a dance for our first dance. We have a few songs we're going to choose from. We don't know which one yet. But I want Artem to choreograph like a nice romantic waltz for us because Jason can dance. Like he's like not like he couldn't come up with choreography on his own. But like if someone taught him he's got rhythm, I feel like we could do a really, really great memorable dance for everybody. And the thing with you too is you guys just throw your hearts into everything that I feel like both of you would go all out with this.
Starting point is 00:13:35 yeah absolutely nervous for how all out because i keep thinking i'm going to be this chill bride i'm like i don't really care what the flowers look like or i don't care but i think once i get into it because that's so me once i am when i'm removed from it i'm very chill and when i'm in it i need everything to be perfect and so i'm very curious to see what kind of bride i'm going to be because it could go either way i'm either going to be super chill or super psycho but i feel like you and jason will balance each other out so well because you'll both have things that you want and your input and like you kind of
Starting point is 00:14:09 like feed off of each other and the fun energy and the vibe that I think it'll be a good match it's not like you know as as Catherine said don't just like plan it all you know do it together I think that you guys will really balance each other out I am just picturing I can just first see this happening like at the end of the night like
Starting point is 00:14:26 Disney show tunes are like musical numbers are going to come on and Jason's just going to be belting this is the greatest show Oh. You can all be doing the choreography from the movie. It's going to be such an incredible wedding. And both of our families are nuts in the best way possible. Like both sides of the family are so high energy.
Starting point is 00:14:49 We all like to have a good time. It's just like people are going to have to definitely like we're going to be serving like pediolite before you walk in. So then like the next day you can survive. You just need like IVs on the like everyone's leaving like, you know, tap a vein. real quick. Book your time the next day of when you can get your IV. Not a bad idea. Well, speaking of families and celebrating, after you and Jason got engaged, we saw that you had this incredible trip to Mexico with your family. How was that? I know you
Starting point is 00:15:19 hadn't seen your mom in quite some time. So tell us a little bit about that Mexican vacation. Oh my gosh. It was emotional. It was so emotional because I see my family all the time. I go back to Canada all the time. I'll go visit them. Wherever they are, I can't go usually like three months without seeing family, especially like my niece and nephew, who I still haven't seen. So it's been over a year and a half. And finally, I'm fully vaccinated. Jason is. My parents are.
Starting point is 00:15:44 And so they've had a place in Mexico for a long time. And so we all felt safe enough to travel and finally spend time together, which I will suggest to anyone, if you get engaged, go on a week vacation after, because it was really special to just have that quality time with family or just. the two of us and relaxing and everyone was taking care of our business at home. Our teams were both on everything. So we were distracted and we could actually enjoy that week. And I mean, it was just perfect.
Starting point is 00:16:14 We did everything we made up for a lost time, birthday, Christmas, like everything we just were celebrating the whole time. And we went and saw live jazz music and we went to the beach and we had pool days. And we rented a yacht and went watch the sunset. And we had a dance party on there. and we just did it all and went out for nice dinners. We cooked in a couple nights. And it was really the perfect minus not having the other half of my family there.
Starting point is 00:16:40 It was the most perfect like celebration and quality time with family. And like anyone who knows me or follows me and knows my mom, like she's just pure entertainment at all times. And she's also an incredible host. And she's also really motherly somehow in there too. She's just so well-rounded. But she just takes such good care. She came in and cuddled me in the morning.
Starting point is 00:17:01 tick on my back then we get up in rage and then we like go to dinner like she's just so fun and and yeah we played golf i mean we really did it all that's what i was gonna say is when i was watching your stories i would see her mom and be like that's how katelyn got so to be so cool like like so cool like she just dancing any chance she got like it was so cool to watch that yeah yeah we're very we're we're very similar in a lot of ways where we just like to have a good time and dance and just be ourselves. And it's funny because my dad is so soft-spoken and quiet and sweet. And I feel like my sister's that way too. And then mom and I are just outrageous when we're together. Like if the whole family's together, they're just like, oh my gosh, because we just, we don't
Starting point is 00:17:46 stop. I love this chat that we have going on with the producers. One of them goes, your mom is my queen. She's my queen too. Jason and her get along. Like when those two start singing show tunes, I'm like, there's not even room for me. And I'm like, right in there usually all the time and I'm just like they're both Beyonce's trying to fight for the spot. Who's going to steal a mic next? Have your both of your sides of the families met before? I'm assuming they have, right? No. So we had plans of doing that, but the pandemic happened and it's so hard to get into Canada right now and they're like on lockdown and they're just, they're not doing COVID right. It's really sad over there. So Jason, Jason and I took our dads on a golf trip. We went and
Starting point is 00:18:28 got custom golf clubs made for them at Callaway and California. That's when I saw you. Yes. Yes, exactly. And so we did that. Had the like father's trips and they all met and they're just, they text every day. My dad and Jason's dad. And then my mom and Jason's mom talk all the time. They give each other diffs and texts all the time, but they haven't been able to meet, which is so sad because they are two peas in a pot as well. They're going to, I'm not worried about that at all. Think of when they finally do though. Oh my gosh. Oh, it's. Yeah. It's going to be such a moment. Everyone really feels their feels in the Tartick and Bristow family,
Starting point is 00:19:05 which is really a beautiful thing, but it's, yeah, it's a lot. I can't wait to see this, not reunion, but when they finally do meet, because, I mean, I've never met. Your mom, I feel like I know her just from everything that I've seen on social media. You know, I did meet Jason's mom for a hot second on the show. But incredible families, incredible families. Speaking of families, have you guys, I mean, I mean, I know I'm sure you want to start a family.
Starting point is 00:19:31 Is that something you've been thinking about soon after the wedding? You want to wait a little bit? I mean, I won't be surprised if I'm, like, pregnant for the wedding. I don't want to be, but that's how, like, anxious I am. Catherine, I have to say, I just, I watch just all of your guys' posts and you're like, respect and love for each other and the way you guys parent and your cute freaking kids, I'm like, you've inspired me to go for three because I was going to be happy. at one. I was going to, I'll be happy at, like, regardless if I am able to get pregnant,
Starting point is 00:20:03 obviously, that's a blessing in itself. And I have so many friends who have struggled. So I'm just like, you know, praying that it's in the cards for me. But I'm like, I could do three. Catherine seems like she, you still, you look glowing, rested, podcasting. Like, you guys have such, it seems like you have such a good team. So I feel like Jason and I would be similar, like, where we would really just have each other's back as parents. We both have the same kind of values and things that we want for our kids. I think he's going to be a little more strict than I am, but he's definitely going to be better at helping with homework.
Starting point is 00:20:38 But yeah, we cannot wait to start a family. And it's so crazy because I've spoken to three. I'm like obsessed with mediums and that kind of thing. I'm all woo-woo and shit now. I love them. So I spoke to this last one, Teresa, the freaking Long Island. medium and she was like and the other medium that text me all the time they both said like if you want to have babies after getting married you better hurry up because there's like a baby
Starting point is 00:21:05 on the way and then jason talked to patty i forget her last name but she is she was the girl who did the millionaire matchmaker oh patty stager yeah right patty stager oh yeah and now she is like has this these medium skills apparently and she said to him like your sperm are like little like go-getters and Kielan's going to get pregnant fast. And so every time I'm like, wow, how else is not already not good? Wait, is this why you're pushing a quick engagement? Well, to be honest, I'm like, I turn 36 next month and I do have my eggs frozen. So I'm not like, the biological clock is not exactly ticking, but I do, you know, want to really think about that just because I have met my person. We are getting married. And so I do feel like that next step quickly.
Starting point is 00:21:53 after it's going to be having a family. But I'm telling you that honeymoon that we've gone is going to, I want it to be like the trip of a lifetime because that's when I'm going to be like, all right. Let's do this. Now I'm a mom. Yeah. Load her up, baby. Next chapter. Have you guys talked about where you want to go for your honeymoon? I want to go to the Maldives. Hey, you should. Let me tell you. It is stunning there. Yeah. That's, I've, you went there in your season, didn't you? Yeah, that was, that was my finale. That's where we had the finale. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, it looks like the perfect little honeymoon romantic getaway. And it's nice, too, because it's so hard to get to that once you're there, you really just want to be there and be present and just kind of go off the grid for a while.
Starting point is 00:22:38 Like, I would recommend, say, go for two to three weeks if you can. I mean, you will love it. And there's so much to do outdoors. It's like the world is your oyster, but it's so romantic. The food is incredible. The people are incredible. It's just, I would highly recommend going there if you can. We want to do like half, half, um, Maldives and then the other half in Italy.
Starting point is 00:23:02 Oh, yeah. That sounds like an epic honeymoon. Do Maldives first where you can relax and then, and then carve up like the last half. Carb and wind up. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Caitlin.
Starting point is 00:23:12 So as much as I want to talk about you and Jason end up coming wedding, there's so many exciting things. But another very exciting thing is that Katie's season is starting in one week. And you were obviously there alongside her journey to help mentor and give her advice and just be this girl gang to help her find love. I mean, I have no idea. I do not read spoiler. So I truly I'm going, I'm going in blind to this one. But tell us a little bit about your time with her.
Starting point is 00:23:42 Like what was that like? Because obviously it's something that we've never seen in the franchise before. Right. Yeah. It was so fun just because, well, for that reason alone, because we've never seen this on the show before. And I think like, you know, when you talk to networks and TV shows of people that are pitching things, I think the one common thing right now that people want to see is community, like women empowerment. I think people want to see love, happy relationships, hard, relatable things, which is all, this season is full of relatable things. And I think people will really enjoy this little, I don't know how to explain it, like just a refresh.
Starting point is 00:24:22 of, you know, being a support system with having two women there because I think one thing we kept saying is, my gosh, it would have been so nice to have this one. We were the bachelorette to have women who have been in our shoes before come in and be there if it's just a shoulder to cry on, if it's, you need advice, if you're feeling alone in it, or if you're feeling like you can't do it, which we all feel at a certain point. And so I think it was nice for us to be on this side of it. and have so much fun, and I think it was nice for Katie to be able to kind of have somebody there that she can be like, okay, the producers are also helpful and everything, but these people
Starting point is 00:25:02 have been through this before, and they're not going to, you know, just blow smoke up my butt or tell me what I want to hear. Like, they're going to, like, there was a few times where I'm like, can they even air this? Because I'm just saying it how it is. Like, you know what I mean? It was really nice to, to be there as a mentor and support system. And it was, it was really, it was really nice to just be on the other side of it and see how much effort and compassion and hard work, everything that's put into the show. I was like, wow, it's crazy being on this side of it. Well, as a, as a viewer, because I wasn't a bachelorette and I never had anybody come, you know, help me through anything. But being a viewer and seeing the girl's connection
Starting point is 00:25:44 when they do bring on somebody. So like when the past bacheloretts come in and talk to the current Bachelorette. It's such a nice, real moment. So to have it for the whole season is going to be really exciting as a viewer because it is relatable. And it's because something that you want as a female, when you're going through your stuff, you have to have somebody to talk to you with. So did you ever think that you'd be in that type of position? I was like, did anybody watch my season? Do you really want me to be giving advice to this? I mean, I mean, I have matured over the years and I feel like I make better decisions now. But yeah, no, I did not think I would ever be in this position. But once it happened and I was there, I was like, I'm supposed to be here. I'm supposed to
Starting point is 00:26:31 be doing this. Oh, I love that. It felt like, it really felt like I was, especially with Tasha, I think at the beginning, Tash, I didn't really like, I mean, we knew each other, of course. Yeah. But we hadn't spent much time together. I mean, we had one revolved trip in Napa that I don't know. I mean, I was physically there. But I feel like it was. was at the beginning, we were kind of like, how is this going to work? And because we knew it wasn't, it, it was not about competition. It was not about, it's, we, it's Katie's journey. We are there for support.
Starting point is 00:27:01 And I think Tasha and I really found a bond over being there to empower Katie. And then we got along so well. And then we fed off each other really well. And it just turned into this really fun time that, again, it just, it feels like it was meant to be. Oh, that's, are you guys going to be able to, like, are we going to be able to, see that from the start, like day one, we're going to get to see you guys and how you I think so connect with her. I'm super excited for that. I hope so because night one was so much fun and we were just such dorks the whole time like hiding in bushes and like trying to like
Starting point is 00:27:39 spy on the guys and just had so much fun with it. You know, Katie didn't know who is going to be there for her because we all knew that, you know, Chris Harrison was stepping aside. So I don't know if she thought she was in it alone, but we're like, we're here for you, Katie. I love that. And I love that they had two of you because you and Tasia had such different experiences, you know, a few years apart and so much has changed, I would say, in recent seasons that I think it's really special for Katie to probably have had both of you, somebody who has gone through completely different things, completely different
Starting point is 00:28:14 outcomes. You're at completely different points in your life, but you can still be like, solid rocks for her, you know, if something happens, you know, that maybe you experienced that Tasha didn't. I think it's incredible that you can go in and vice versa. And so I personally, just because I know you and Tasia, and I know what going through that journey is like and how hard and scary it is at times. Like, I can't wait to watch you guys because I think it's going to help a lot of the viewers and women who might be going through similar struggles or situations with men in their lives. And like you said, it can be relatable and help them. One thing I to ask is, I feel like in more recent seasons, so much drama has taken place. There's been so
Starting point is 00:28:57 much of, I don't want to say toxicity, but just distraction. Distraction. Yeah. And that drama. And would you say, is Katie's season starting to feel back to the basics where it's maybe a little bit less drama? Don't get me wrong. I know that it will still be a huge part of the show. But is it more focused on the love story and that aspect of the overall show? I hope so. It's hard to say because I mean, I was there, but I wasn't like in the house with the guys and I wasn't seeing how they really interact with each other unless we were on a group date or something. But from my standpoint and what I saw, it did feel like it was a more mature group that had respect for one another. And it felt like every time I talked to Katie, she was like, it feels like a lot of men supporting men. And like there was, it seemed like a lot of very respectful group. Of course, like you said, there's going to be drama because when you put 25 men in, you know, one area to date the same girl, like, that's just, that's going to come naturally. But overall, it felt like a really positive experience and focused more on
Starting point is 00:30:09 relationships. I mean, as far as I can see, I'll, I could watch back and be like, I was not good for that. So I will also, like, as they say, Stay tuned because I'm right there with you as a viewer for that. Somebody who absolutely loves watching the show, the first night is the most amazing night because people don't know what to expect. So they're completely caught off guard. They don't know how to act. And there's just so much that goes on.
Starting point is 00:30:37 And it's such a long night. As we all know, is there anything that we can, like any secrets, any behind the scene stuff that we want to, like I want to know because I'm super excited about watching next week. But I don't know anything behind the scenes. Um, behind the scenes. Okay. Let's see what. There's a guy in a box who I don't know if we can get to figure out who that is by Rose Ceremony. That will be excited. I'm, I truly don't know. I can't remember if you still in the box for the Rose Ceremony. There's always a shtick. There's always one costume. There was a few costumes. I'll tell you that. Um, we were secretly watching in a window trying to like see the guys that were coming out. And Katie, I know. would turn around to us a few times and neither be like oh or she'd be like no so that was funny to see her reactions but yeah I feel like you'll definitely see a few costumes a few gags a few schicks of course and um and I wonder if we get to find out who the mystery man in the box is I remember them
Starting point is 00:31:38 coming like the producers coming into my room before the first night yeah and they because I ride a unicycle they wanted me to come up on a unicycle and I was like absolutely not I am not going to be that girl with a shtick. I'm not. Wait, how did you answer then? How did I want? Oh, just super awkward, normal, just me being awkward. You were so cute.
Starting point is 00:31:57 I was like, join me for a dance. Like, we're not dancing in there. But they didn't you just, he just posted that about how, how nonsensical I am sometimes. And I was like, oh, well, yeah, unicycle doesn't sound cool. But I would do this. But didn't you always, you had little notes for him throughout, right? Did that start night one? Yeah, that's not the season.
Starting point is 00:32:17 No, that didn't start. Okay. Okay. But, yeah. The schick is, it's like, it can hurt or help you, but, I mean, I mean, obviously Katie's, Katie's helped. Katie's definitely, Katie definitely had a schick of something. Oh my gosh. Yeah, I've, I haven't seen all of the promos, but I've heard that, um, the stick makes, makes, uh, a few appearances.
Starting point is 00:32:42 Oh, yeah. It has to be. It's like part of the promos. That's her, that is her, though. Yeah. I told her, I told her before she started, I'm like, if good vibrations is not your theme song in life, I'm going to be so upset. Oh, there are many, many vibrator jokes to be had. Yes. Katelyn, so on my season, before I even met the men, I obviously sat down with you and Rachel and Jojo and you guys gave me some great advice. You even gave me the Bachelorette Bible, which I think Tasha has.
Starting point is 00:33:12 Is she? I believe she should have it. I sent it to her at Lakeita. but two-part question what was some advice that you were able to give katy night one and then some advice throughout the season that we might see oh gosh i feel like i'm always a broken record with my advice because it's my true like like katherine kind of how you said with your wedding advice and enjoying certain things like it's you say you always give the same advice and that's kind of how i am to all the bachelorets and that's to not get caught up in the role like the role of the bachelorette don't get caught up in that in what america
Starting point is 00:33:50 might want to see like you have to completely show up with humility and be self deprecating and you have to just be your most authentic self to actually find a relationship that could work because the last thing in the world you want is to like you know you're already put on a pedestal you don't want to make it even more a facade and then come off and be like oh that's definitely not who I fell in love with. You want them to know all your quirks and your even like bad habits and just how you present yourself and who you truly are. So I just said like, don't worry about you. People are going to not like you regardless and people are going to love you. So as long as you are completely yourself in hard times and in good times and all of that, that's the best piece of advice I can
Starting point is 00:34:38 ever give anyone who goes on that show. I love that. That's really good advice because you don't want someone to fall in love with you for someone that you're not. And that's just rude to both of you guys like that's not that's not going to help anybody in that situation so i i love that advice yeah and like of course you're going to be on your best behavior in the first little you know few weeks and you're trying to impress but once it gets down to like the important relationships of meeting family and it's you know the overnight moments you've got to have tough conversations and show your messy sides and you know do it all oh man i wish i had unite one throughout the, well, I guess throughout the entire thing.
Starting point is 00:35:14 I'm trying to think if I gave any other advice throughout it, probably like, I don't know, just drink more gin. I've always said that a few times. I think like what you guys wrote to me, you were like, always carry breathments or have the listerine strips. Yeah. I should ask Tasha if she still has that Bible. Is it not in no way relatable when you get outside of this?
Starting point is 00:35:37 Because your listerine strips are like, oh, from guy to guy. Oh my gosh. No, I remember being obviously engaged after my season and all of a sudden I like, he's like, where'd your hair go? Like I wasn't wearing extensions. Oh, I had freaking bald spots in my head from where extensions were in stress. I like rinsed off all of my spray tans. I was like, and this is the ralmy. Hopefully you still love me. Yeah, yeah. Have you stayed in touch with Katie since then? I'm assuming you have, but. Yeah, definitely. Good. Yeah. She's, I sent her a lot of spade and sparras. I was wine and said, I sent her a bottle for each week. And I just said, FaceTime me if you ever need me. Or I'm like, I'm fully vaccinated. I'll fly out and be there with you through anything.
Starting point is 00:36:21 Because it can, it's like as, I mean, Catherine, you know just from being on the show. And Becky, you know from being a lead is that you can feel so alone in this journey because there's only a handful of people that really know what it's like. And I think that is why it was so cool that I, patient I could both be there for that. because, again, there's, what, 16 people who have done this in the whole world over the years. So, yeah, I said just you got to lean on. I know coming out for me, I don't know if this was the same for you, Becca, but after I kind of like pushed people away and I kind of went into a dark hole and I didn't
Starting point is 00:36:55 lean on people the way I should have. And I always now want other people to do that with me. I'm like, I am so here for you. I will talk you through anything, anytime in the day. But I also understand if you need some time because it's just, you know, it's a lot. it's a lot. Well, but as you said, there's not very many people, I mean, being a lead, yes, but there's also not very many contestants, even on the show that have gone through this journey to find love and relationships between yourself and the person that you're dating
Starting point is 00:37:25 and all these other people living with you. It's just, so yeah, at times you can feel very much isolated, like you don't want to unload onto somebody who hasn't gone through it because they can't quite relate. But one thing that I will say to both of you, you women is that um because katherine you had reached out to me after r a season and then uh katelyn you would reach out to me i mean i obviously met you before i went on to be bachelorette and then afterwards but you guys were both so great about reaching out and saying if you ever need to talk or if you need advice or just want to vent whatever it might be so i appreciated that so much so thank you both if i didn't say it at the point in time like it meant katherine did that for me too yeah and and so that's
Starting point is 00:38:07 why, you know, we're so lucky to find certain bonds with people. That's why I feel so grateful to be doing this podcast with you, Caitlin, or Catherine, and to have you on today, Caitlin, but I think it's really important that Katie knows right now at this point in time who she can lean on, because she's in this weird limbo phase between when it finishes filming and airing, you know, there's, it's, like, your world is completely changing on the outside and people don't always quite know, you know, how to act just with their family and friends normally or out in public or on social media. It's like all the things. So I'm glad that that she has you and has a lot of your mind to help get her through these next couple weeks. I think that's what people will enjoy watching too is like everyone can relate to having a, you know, you like you put women together and magic happens.
Starting point is 00:38:54 So people talk about their emotions. They get vulnerable. They feel strong. All these things. And I think that's what people are really going to enjoy watching. One thing that I keep thinking about that I can't wait for it. I don't know why this is even crossed my mind because it's not coming for a while are going to be the bloopers with the three of you women. I can't even imagine. They have a whole episode probably. Seriously. Yes.
Starting point is 00:39:17 And a lot of bleepies. What are those called? A lot of bleeps. A lot of bleeps. I mean, there is one point I can remember. I think my boob tape was showing and I was just like, I looked down and I was like, I mean, good thing I had booped to him. The nip was just like that.
Starting point is 00:39:34 Where was Tisha? Why didn't Tisha say, hey, Caitlin? Pull her up a little bit. I don't know if she was there for that one. I don't remember. I just remember being like, oh, wow. And then I ran away one time, and it was hot, and my boob, like, tape slipped off. And I just, like, found a half of, like, big booby on the floors covered in desert sand. Caitlin, before we get into a little game, we want to play with you, I have two more questions. But overall, just throughout this entire season, what is one thing you are just most looking forward to having the viewers see throughout, whatever it might be, any and everything that has to do with Katie's season?
Starting point is 00:40:11 I think shows just so used. People are so used to seeing women against each other in past seasons. And that's kind of the nature and format of the show is that, you know, a bunch of women against each other to date the one guy. And I think something people are really going to enjoy. And again, sound like a broken record, is just seeing the. female friendship going on in the support systems and the help and just just how it's nice to watch I wonder if it will create more love on the internet because sometimes you see women against each other and you kind of like feed off of it I'm wondering if people feed off this energy and just be like wow this is what we love to see and see how that goes because I do think that they're really going to enjoy it and it's just a whole new element to the show that is going to bring a lot of joy, I think. I can't wait.
Starting point is 00:41:02 Did any of the men try flirting with you and Tasha? That is an excellent question. That is an excellent question. I think when we first showed up, like, they'd been quarantined for two weeks, so they're probably like, ooh, females. Women. So I don't think they were necessarily hitting on us. But when we walked in, they're like, we're like, where's Katie?
Starting point is 00:41:23 And they're like, she's here. It's okay, no, I think they just craved some women presents. Yeah. Yeah. But no, there was no, like, knocking on my door in the middle of night and being like, oh, this is, this is a thing. No. Well, because I'm assuming if Katie didn't know you and Tasha would be there at the beginning, the men probably had no idea. They probably, you guys probably walked it in. They're like, who season are we on? Wasn't Caitlin? Wasn't Caitlin with Jason and wasn't Tasha with Zach? Like, what's going on? Who are we dating here? I don't know how that works. That's funny. I have one question. Okay. If you could. describe the whole season in one word based on what you've seen but what would you say one or two words honestly i would say challenging really it was a it was i mean i think every season has its challenges but i mean it's hard it's a hard thing to go through and it's it's it's challenging to go through all that it entails to date that many guys And I don't think you can ever be fully prepared for it.
Starting point is 00:42:30 And I think there's a lot of challenges, yeah. Is that for your role, too? Or would you describe your position differently? I mean, there's some challenging times. There are definitely some times where I had to pick her off the floor and be there as a rock. And that's what we were there for. But as a whole, I would just say, yeah, it was challenging. Yeah, for me personally, what was challenging was I had a really difficult time on my season and after my season.
Starting point is 00:42:57 And I think it was really challenging for me to dive back in to any role that has to do with Bachelorette. And I did have some anxiety and fears. And I think I had a little bit of like, I don't know if that's dramatic to say like post-traumatic stress. That sounds a little dramatic. But I had challenges in my own way of just being back in that environment and remembering how it was for me and remembering what I had gone through. how it ended for me and everything like that. It kind of, those challenges definitely came back into the back of my mind. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:43:35 Yeah. Yeah, I can imagine, like, certain scenarios and situations and just being in front of the cameras and having to kind of be on in a way could be triggering in certain regards. Do you, did you find it easier? Because obviously, when you were a Bachelorette, it was, you know, pre-COVID, pre-quarantine, where you could travel and you could walk up. out and you know there wasn't this like extra quarantine period you didn't have to get the COVID tests every couple days like do you think um being in this sort of bubble and being in New Mexico
Starting point is 00:44:09 and not leaving and having all these extra distractions I guess I would say um do you think it helps like the journey of love in this sense or do you think it kind of hindered it in a way oh that's hard to answer because I can see it being both like like you it is tough to be stuck in one place and not have those you know extravagant moments that really help people fall and you know be in these romantic settings um so it did help in a way where they were more hyper focused on like the relationship over the destinations and the traveling and the exotic things and it you're probably more just focused on that relationship but again i think traveling and seeing the world together. and doing unique things and having these opportunities. I mean, anytime I've traveled, I've grown as a human being. So you grow as a couple too. So I can see it doing both.
Starting point is 00:45:07 You know what I mean? Yeah. Yeah, makes sense. Okay. Last question before we get into our little first impressions with Caitlin Bristow game. Is there anyone there that you would recommend for your good old friend, Becca? Oh. How should I keep forgetting I can do that?
Starting point is 00:45:29 Yes, you can. I could think of a few. It was a good group. Well, that's what I keep hearing. Well, now you're going to have to go to paradise because then you can meet all the good ones there. All the good ones are going to be there. Are they going to be there, though? Well, some good, some bad, some ugly.
Starting point is 00:45:45 Or I'm just thinking you and Jason met on the podcast. I mean, is that, that could this be a thing for my future? Now you're going to go into every podcast. I'm like, this is my husband? Caitlin planted the seed I'm going to have to think about this one because obviously I don't want to say any names because then you'll know that they're gone and I can't do that because I've learned my lesson with spoilers I'm just trying I'm just trying to get I'm just trying to get all the juice right now
Starting point is 00:46:14 well Catherine do you want to take it away with our little game that we got going on I love so I think so Caitlin you're going to reveal a guy from our season from Katie season excuse me, from Katie season. It's coming up in a week. And you're going to have to get our first impressions. So you're going to give us, since you know some of these guys or hopefully you know most of them, your hot take. So we're going to give you our first impressions after we see their picture. And then you agree with our first impression or you're like, oh, that's so off.
Starting point is 00:46:47 You should be watching him. Okay. Watching for him. Okay. Oh, I'm excited. So the first guy is Vardi. Okay. He looks happy, but I personally would rather have a unibrow than manicured brows. That's my personal
Starting point is 00:47:01 opinion. Marty, 25 and a dancer. What type of dancer? That's what I was just going to ask. Do we know what kind of dancer? Are we talking like dancing with the stars type level dancing, Caitlin? Or are we talking about like a nice magic mic? I mean, you have to be bulky to be a magic mic too. But I accidentally ran into him in a hallway and he had to hide in like a vending machine. room because we're not. It was before it all started. But yeah, that's, that's my recollection of him. You know what vibes I'm getting? This, okay, does anyone remember Rufio, Rufio? Yeah. Oh, with the earring and the necklace, like that, that's the vibe I'm getting. I like Marty. I'm not mad at Rufio. I'm not mad at Rufio. I like Marty from what I see here. Mm-hmm. He looks nice. Okay. Aaron looks salt of the earth nice. He has really nice teeth. He looks very nice. He looks like a husband material, in my opinion.
Starting point is 00:47:59 He has an insurance agent. He's going to be... He has very... He's going to be a solid guy. Very nice teeth. And I flips. He is quite pleasant to look at. Yeah, I called him A-A-A-Ron. Kaelan, if there's anyone in this bunch that we have to be weary about and keep our guards up, you let us know, okay?
Starting point is 00:48:18 They keep your guards up for Aaron. Okay, okay. A-A-Ron. I did not expect this from you, Aaron. Um, okay, Jeff. Jeff looks, um, like a surgical skin salesman. Yeah, he might, I mean, just because of his occupation, he might be, um, not, not, he might have really high standards if he's in that. He's got good hair, though. He's got a good flow going.
Starting point is 00:48:41 He has great hair, great smile. And they didn't know what he's taken. So, yeah, he has great hair. Um, he had a very interesting entrance. can you can he give us more about it so does he have a schick then he has a schick one that we've never seen before is it a good stick or kind of a weird like it was weird i mean sticks are usually weird so i will say that yeah he kind so he doesn't get he doesn't get lucky with his cool stick there's some that are really cool but he in my opinion from standing in the one room where i was looking through i couldn't get down with his entrance because he kind of gave me
Starting point is 00:49:21 the he be jeeps in that moment. Gotcha. Oh, sorry, Jeff. Does the schick stay past night one? Is it something that we'll see? You'll have to find out. You're a no spoiler gal. I'm not telling you.
Starting point is 00:49:36 Okay. Okay. So, Jeff, schick, I'm taking notes and then at the end of this season, I'm going to go through what we're talking about with these men to see how spot on we are. Okay. Okay. Here's Courtney. Oh, he's got a nice smile.
Starting point is 00:49:48 I think he looks like he takes care of himself. Wait, how old is Courtney? 26. He has two earrings, which is surprising that he just looks very put together, and then he has two earrings. He has some of them. And his name's Courtney. He has some of the best teeth I've ever seen for a human. Wow. Yeah, it sounds like it. Wow. Yeah, well, it looks like he has good nice skin. Oh, okay, Gabriel. Gabriel looks like a more attractive younger Willem Defoe. Oh. Oh. Oh, beautiful hair. It always worries me when it says entrepreneur. I'm like, are you just here to build a brand? Well, remember that it was like, but also like the pants guy.
Starting point is 00:50:27 Remember a long time ago? Who's the pants guy? Someone has. It said like pants guy was like his entrepreneur. Anyways, that was a long time ago. Yeah. Katelyn, it says entrepreneur, do we know in what industry slash business? I'm going to let you guess.
Starting point is 00:50:43 What industry do you think he's in being an entrepreneur? I was going to say, um, oh, you go. He looks like a vampire. to me. That's totally, he's a vampire. He's in the industry of blood. He sells blood.
Starting point is 00:50:58 No. Wait, wait, wait. One thing I want to say, though, about Gabriel. Is it Gabriel or Gabriel? Gabriel. He kind of looks like Mr. McDreamy from Grey's Anatomy a little bit. Like with the, like, Patrick, whatever. Patrick, I was going to say Patrick Swayzy.
Starting point is 00:51:16 I know. Patrick Dempsey. He, with like, the little side smile. But I like how. The other guys we've seen were in their mid-20s. I like how he's in his mid-30s. I agree. So hopefully.
Starting point is 00:51:26 Maybe he's got something going on because that looks like a rich look. Yeah. It's like a rich guy. It's not just like the mock, the mock turtle like. It's like the folded over thick turtlene. Maybe he's being discreet with entrepreneur and he's like super successful in his field and he wants to find love. Yeah. I would hope he's.
Starting point is 00:51:44 We're spending way too much time already. Okay. Okay. All right. Vampire. Okay. so he's not a firefighter yet he's just a trainee um he looks nice he looks like he could maybe be a villainish but a nice villain okay he starts out nice he's canadian that's why you're getting
Starting point is 00:52:06 that vibe oh that's why i'm getting the nice vibe he's canadian yeah a hey a did you bond over your ketchup chips we did yes we had a little Canadian moment where we were like that's what Canadians do. As soon as you find another Canadian, they're like, hey, ketchup chips. Yeah, the A, too. Do we like Brendan? Well, I like any Canadian. And I think people are going to be talking about Brendan.
Starting point is 00:52:35 Yeah. Okay, okay. I will agree with that statement. I do think people love Canadians. I've never, they are so nice. They are. They're always good people. Even when they're like a douche canoe, they're still lovable.
Starting point is 00:52:48 Yeah. Yeah. They're still, like, still kind and yeah. Yeah. Okay. Next up. Okay. Is this guy, I think he's Filipino.
Starting point is 00:52:57 No? There's a Filipino Croatian guy on the show. I don't know if it's him. Ooh, I'm Croatian. Filipino. It's you and me. It's our baby. Oh my gosh.
Starting point is 00:53:05 We should have them on together, Catherine. Okay. We've seen district attorneys or deputy, right? Andy Dorfman and Rachel were both in this. Yeah. So I'm not. at his position and his age. He looks nice.
Starting point is 00:53:23 He looks very nice, and I'm hoping he goes far. He looks like a lovable guy. Like, he'd get along with everyone. Yeah. Right. Is that kind of on this? Yay. Yay.
Starting point is 00:53:33 Andrew. We like Andrew M. Okay. Okay. Former baseball player is always a bit iffy, because he's a pro. Why does it say pro baseball or is it just baseball? Former baseball player. Okay.
Starting point is 00:53:46 So I'm fine with the age. I was a former dance teacher. okay yeah i remember you talking about how you're all types of things so so do we know what he does now yeah that's true that's fair um because it doesn't say i used to do this well what do you do now i feel like he coaches oh okay oh i don't know i made that up oh oh oh i was like oh okay oh he looks nice a technical product specialist That's who I was talking about David, who I ran into in Nashville. Oh, David. He looks nice.
Starting point is 00:54:21 This is who you ran into in Nashville. I like that shirt, too. He's nice. Okay. I have nothing bad to say, no question mark. But, Caitlin, when you say he's nice, it's a different nice than the other guy who are like, he's nice. This is like, he's not nice. He's like a cool nice. Like, we like him nice. Yeah, okay. Okay, good. Got it. Good. Okay. Nice, nice. It's a good nice. What is this? This is the ball. Is that a John. box, or is it a small box? Like, is he inside the box? Can we have something for scale?
Starting point is 00:54:51 Yeah, yeah. He was dressed up as a penis and that he was going to be a dick in the box. That's what I said. I wanted it to be Justin Timberlake and Andy Sandberg coming out with that look and saying. That would be amazing. Oh, done deal with Katie and the vibrator sold. I would have been into that. But is it, so no, it's not like that. It's weird. I don't know. Oh, okay, we don't know. He was in the box all night. guy in the box, we were all wondering who or what or if anything was in there. So we definitely cut a hole in it and fed him cocktails and stuck my fingers in. And there's definitely a guy in there. Did somebody have to move him around and push him? Or did they, okay. So it was on wheels, I think. Okay. So it wasn't like a Flintstones where his like little legs would come out.
Starting point is 00:55:35 No, they used on wheels. Okay. I'm curious. Wow. Interesting. I'm very intrigued to see what happens with this box how long he stays yeah if he if yeah how long he stay past the first night i can't imagine you just being unless he has really good conversation with you but he chose to be in a box i know which but that says a lot about his confidence which yes it's kind of sexy it's like you just don't have to rely on your love you guys like the box yeah it's i like mysterious that's what it was oh my god what if the man in the box pulls out a box at the end of this and he's the one I'm manifesting it now.
