This is an I-Heart podcast.
My boyfriend's professor is way too friendly, and now I'm seriously suspicious.
Wait a minute, Sam.
Maybe her boyfriend's just looking for extra credit.
Well, Dakota, luckily, it's back to school week on the OK Storytime podcast, so we'll find out soon.
This person writes, my boyfriend's been hanging out with his young professor a lot.
He doesn't think it's a problem, but I don't trust her.
Now he's insisting we get to know each other, but I just want her gone.
Now, hold up.
Isn't that against school policy?
That seems inappropriate.
Maybe find out how it ends by listening to the OK Storytime podcast and the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
I'm Dr. Scott Barry Kaufman, host of the Psychology Podcast.
Here's a clip from an upcoming conversation about how to be a better you.
When you think about emotion regulation, you're not going to choose an adaptive strategy which is more effortful to use unless you think there's a good outcome.
Avoidance is easier. Ignoring is easier. Denials is easier. Complex problem solving.
Takes effort.

Why are TSA rules so confusing?
You got a hood of you.
I'm take it all.
I'm Manny.
I'm Noah.
This is Devin.
And we're best friends and journalists with a new podcast called No Such Thing,
where we get to the bottom of questions like that.
Why are you screaming?
I can't expect what to do.
Now, if the rule was the same, go off on me.
I deserve it.
You know, lock him up.
Listen to No Such Thing on the.
iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
No such thing.
Welcome back, Happy Hour listeners.
It's a big week for Tia and myself because if you didn't watch both episodes this week,
surprise, we both showed up.
We really did it.
What a wild ride.
I don't even know where to begin besides.
I don't know how we got there, but somehow we got on planes and we showed the fuck up.
It took a lot of convincing for both of us. Tia and I probably what for three or four weeks,
almost a month, we're going back and forth of like, do we do this? Do we say yes? We literally waited until the last minute to be like,
okay, if you do it all do it, like book our flights. I'm pretty sure I signed the contract and then flew out the next day.
Like that's how close it was. Oh, no. Yes. You have to be on a flight.
if you don't sign this, you're not coming? And I was like, okay, fine. Well, Tia,
I honestly. We swear they wanted us. We swear. They asked us, damn it. Yes. It took a lot of
convincing, honestly. And if Tia wouldn't have done it and if some of our friends who work on the
show behind the scenes who are super close with weren't there, there's no way in hell you could have
convinced me to get on the beach. I was so just like, oh, this is my first full summer in L.A.
going to live in my place. I'm in the process of buying a house. Like, it was not something on either
of our radars, but it happened. It happened. Sure did happen. I saw a comment. It was like,
Shirley T. doesn't go back. She has a new life and a new house in Nashville. She's not going to go
surprise. You were wrong. I will say this, though. I know people, like, I try really not to read the
comments on most of the stuff because
they just
make me angry half the time
and I know people
bash us they
say that we're old we've already had our
shot like why are we doing this again
I mean at the end of the day everyone's done
the show already we're all giving it
a second or third
some people's like fourth go-rounds
I don't even know but out of
every show I've done
between Bachelor
Bachelorette and Paradise
paradise was the most fun the most like I for as hesitant as we were it was so worth it
it was the best time I am like no regrets I am so happy we were both there obviously when
we were in the midst of a lot of the situations and the drama and everything that was
going on it it was a lot you know it's weird to like put yourself back into the filming
mindset of like you know no sleep at all
The worst part. You feel like a shell of yourself. Yeah. Yeah. I know I have a personality, but I can't find it right now.
You're really running on fumes. And it's so weird to put yourself back into that mindset and that state. But I'm glad I did it. I am so glad you were there, Tia. Like, I could not have done it without you. No.
Absolutely not. Absolutely not. I would have actually passed away. Actually did try to leave often. And they kept saying no.
She did. Well, I will say this to the first.
First night, I went down. I wasn't expecting to go down in the middle of the rose ceremony. Tia.
I was so sad that we didn't get to go together. And then they came and told me that you were going
before a row ceremony. I'm like, how dare you do this shit to her? And then Sam was like,
she's going to have a rose. I'm like, oh, hell yeah. See her out. Tia and I had this plan
of like, oh, you know, we're going to get like the old girl game back together and show up together,
kind of like how the Jason and Chris thing. We had no idea, really. But I,
When they were like, hey, you're going in tomorrow. Good luck. In the middle of the row ceremony. I was like, what? I was, Tia, I almost, I went, I like was ready to go home that night. I wait, right? It was like 2 a.m.
It was two in the morning. Well, things got delayed because there was a massive storm. It's so interesting when you watch it back. And it, like, the night looks so smooth and fun and perfect. And, like, in reality, I was waiting in a holding room with chips and a bottle of wine for way too long because there was the storm that they had to wait for the power to come back on for. So yeah, I walked in. It was probably 2.2.30 in the morning. And they're like, oh, go talk to boys. I was like, right. Can I just. Can I just take it?
did like they were excited to see you the girls were nervous they were pulling you like
tia bachelorette when i actually walked in it was it was horrible everyone looked
everyone looked pissed all of the girls literally i kid you not when i walked across the bridge
and my god i was like what the fuck am i doing here my dress came untied on the side land spas is
there but all of the girls i kid you not i have never seen arms move around
around their men so fast or grab hands so fast.
They, like, the only thing that looked really excited out of the girls was Natasha and
Demi.
Everyone else just like, it was so awkward.
It was so awkward.
Thankfully, that didn't last long.
And everyone turned out to be incredible.
But, like, I was ready to leave that night before the roast ceremony.
I was like, I don't want to be back.
It's hard walking up on a group of people.
Yeah.
Well, and you know, because you obviously showed up the next day.
Oh, yeah.
And Becca was like, we had 47 minutes of sleep.
She wasn't kidding.
I walked in and everyone was so tired.
I was just so happy to be there.
And Beck, it was like, we all literally just went to bed and they just woke us up for your damn arrival.
And I'm so sorry.
But it was so worth it.
But then they had you leave on a date right away.
I was like, gosh, dang it.
Yes.
This is the week where the girls start with the roses.
They have the power.
The guys have to work a little bit harder.
So, Chase and Chris come in, have a double date.
They end up pulling Deandra and.
um jesnia which i was um i was i was surprised that jessania said yes i wasn't surprised that deandra
said yes because i don't think her and carl were really vibed how would you have felt on this
um very intimate karma is it karma kama sutra i probably would have awkwardly laughed my ass
out of the date it was very bizarre i not said they were comfortable i'm not that
flexible. I would have been in such pain. My hips can't move and do some of those things that
they were doing. And I would have been like, just give me a glass of wine and just like, let me sit
and watch everyone. Also, Deandra's voice is very calming to me. I need her to just read things. I love
her. I love her so much. Very calming presence. She had a week. I know it was rough for her with
being in the midst of the Jason, Carl, and kind. I wouldn't even say Ivan.
um but just not to jump ahead but but the jewelry thing oh my gosh all i was thinking the entire time
first of all demi's commentary throughout oh my god all dying all episodes when she's like deander
doesn't even want this jewelry it's ugly please spare this woman i'm thinking yeah thank god she said it
it was no one he got her pindoor bracelet i got my mom for that in 2003
gosh, I was cracking up, because that's, that was spot on. I mean, I saw the necklace and was
like, oh, you know, Deander's like, this is beautiful. And Demi's like, it was awful. It was
hideous. She's coming into the ugly joy. You notice at the row ceremony, too, she took that
shit off. Oh, yeah. She took it all. And then she threw a curveball. Big curveball.
Oh, yeah. It's interesting watching back, because when you're living in it, there's so much
happening. There's so many conversations. And obviously, 90% of that can never play out.
out, but we know the context.
So it's interesting to see, like, the viewers take and, like, the only small
tidbits that they get from everything.
When you're living in it, it feels dramatic because it's happening.
But when you watch it back, you hear the music and you see everyone else's interviews
and you see what the viewers are saying and you're like, holy shit, that's a lot.
Because, like, even when, you know, you came in and then when I came in, we're asking the
guys like, okay, so who you're interested in.
You don't know, like, how serious it is until you watch it back.
you're like, oh, damn. There actually was a lot going on. There was lots of other stuff in
episode one. Oh, wait, is this the cake night? Yes. This is the cake night. I remember hearing about
this is all we talked about for so long was the cake in the fire. Like, Demi recapping everything
to us personally is like even better than seeing it because she is so dramatic with her details. I'm
like, yeah, you said sup my ass. Tell me more. But Mari, I think was trying to
to say like if someone came in and asked me on a date like I wouldn't want to say no so then
Kenny took that it was like all right I'm not going to sit in the corner by myself um okay cool
and then Mari confided in Demi all this information and Demi was like I'm gonna go take
your man oh man and she did she did I under Kenny was about it man man
What do you think I'm going to do?
Well, listen, like, Kenny's 40.
Kenny has been a bachelor for four decades.
He's used to probably doing things on his own and not having to check in and being
like, okay, if you're not in 100% all in, I'm not going to be 100% all in.
So I understand.
Yeah, like, I guess I was kind of confused of exactly what Mari was saying.
She wasn't.
I think part of her.
wanted to say that and for him to be like no i don't want to go out with anyone else i don't want
you to go out with anyone else i want to be with you i want to be exclusive with you but also at the
same time it's like i hate to bring up jo and kendall but like when joe and kendall were dating
last time around when they were on paradise leo came in took kendall on the date well kendall ended up
being back with joe anyways so joe could say look she explored her options and came back to me
So I think Maury might have had that same mindset.
And then when she saw it playing out, she was like, back up.
Yeah.
I mean, listen, everyone, especially on this beach, wants their cake and wants to eat it too.
Pun intended.
Mari wanted the cake and she wanted to eat it too until she saw Kenny eating the cake.
And then she wasn't all about it.
Sometimes we all need that kick in the ass where we have to take a step back and be like, oh.
You know, maybe the grass, and they talked about the grass being green around the other side.
And for her, it wasn't.
And she, I think she needed to go through that, needed to see as much as I'm sure it sucked to see Kenny and Demi together.
Like, they, it needed to be done, I think, to really have her realize, like, how much she cared about Kenny.
Because when we came in, the night and day that we were both there, like, Kenny and Demi were all in.
Like I obviously wasn't here beforehand to see Maury and Kenny, but I was like, oh, yeah, there are a couple, like done deal, like kind of off limits.
They're doing their thing.
They did the boom boom room, all of that.
So it's interesting.
Well, I didn't know that they had gone to the boom boom room when me and Kenny were on our date.
Until you asked him.
Tuesday's episode, yeah.
Because he talked about Mari and he talked about Demi, but I didn't know, like, how recent and how serious.
So then when he said that, I was like, oh, shit.
I remember you coming back from that date which I want to get into because it was so damn funny
but you came back that night and me you and demi stayed up we were the only ones up everyone else went to bed
and that was the night of the date yeah that was right after your date me you and demi stayed up to like
three in the morning eating chicken nuggets eating that notcha platter fine just so everyone knows
and can I also say at this point demi talking shit about me is a compliment yes
We talked about this.
I'm like,
Demi can shade me
all she wants.
She came and told me
everything.
She said,
she was like,
I just want to let you know.
I threw shade on your denim shorts.
Yes.
And I'm like,
it's fine.
And I looked at her.
I was like,
Demi,
I think at that moment,
too,
I was wearing jeans coat of shorts.
I was like,
what's wrong with jean shorts?
And Debbie's like,
nothing.
I actually like them.
I just had to say something.
And,
oh, God.
Yeah, just for the record, shade from Demi means that she's thinking about you.
And I also saw Demi naked more than I saw Kenny and kissed her more passionately than I kissed Kenny.
Oh, yeah.
We had a joke about, like, how many, like, exes people had.
And Demi's like, I have an ex with everyone on the beach.
I've kissed everyone.
Like, Demi kissed us.
Demi kissed everybody.
Like, it was just, I.
It was a fun time.
It was.
Sometimes moments are really tense on the show, but we honestly did have a lot of fun.
I like paradise for people because it gives everyone the sense of knowing kind of how it feels to be the bachelor or the bachelor and have people vibe for your attention and kind of fight over you.
I mean, I'm going to make a choice.
Yeah, yeah.
Like I give you and all the leads so much more credit for having to choose people because you see obviously people having to choose between.
two potential suitors and having complete meltdowns.
And the leads have to choose from 30 people.
So as a viewer, I will say, it's harder than it looks.
But I love it for everyone.
I love it for you guys to be able to experience that.
Like, I for the most part loved everyone on that beach besides maybe some people that
weren't there very long.
But I like I want everyone to be able to experience that and to like really soak in all
that this show has to offer in a short amount of time.
Tuesday night obviously starts with the cocktail party rose ceremony.
We see Connor go home.
We see Chasing go home.
We see Carl go home.
And who was the fourth?
Tre left.
And Trey left.
Trey left, yes.
I think that was it.
News flashed to all of our listeners.
We had to have Lance Bass on.
So he very shortly will be joining us.
But before I walked onto the beach, I was able to meet Lance.
So we were in, like, one of the holding rooms, hanging out.
We, I think we like, cheer some wine.
I was so nervous, though.
Like, I thought I was going to be extra nervous going, just walking on to the beach in
general and meeting everyone.
I was so nervous to meet Lance.
The backs of my kneecaps were sweating.
I was like, what?
When you introduced you, he was like, this is one of the, this is, everyone's going to
know her.
She's one of the best people ever.
I'm like, hi, hey, I got a Venmo, whoever was feeding.
him the lines because thank you.
I was blacking out. She was like,
I was laughing. Well, because I wasn't obviously there until
after he said all that. So this was my first
time watching what he was saying back. And I was
like, who the hell is he talking about? And sure,
it shouldn't mean. Like, what?
Are you? Lou?
I'm laughing. But yeah, he's,
he was such a calming presence. He is
just like, I'm so glad I was able to
kind of just meet him and talk to him beforehand and
like get my bearings a little bit.
um yeah so he was a good host too he he i loved that he i loved the fact that he he kind of inserted
himself in with the cast and was able to sit down and have chats which was i think so needed oh can we
please get into your date with kenny because it was one of the most entertaining dates i have ever
watched of course they would put you and kenny on the naked date of course of course and
You came back that night and told me about it, so I knew what was happening, like, what I was going to be watching.
But it was so much funnier actually watching your reactions and your comments.
Like, when you were like, I'm, no one's going to see my china pot.
I know.
I know.
And someone was like, what does that mean?
I'm like, vagina.
What else could it?
You're like, I saw some labia.
I know.
I want to do like a question box.
It's like, how many words for genitalia can you say?
Because I said almost all of them.
I said Weiner about four fucking times.
Oh my God.
It was so good.
I was more freaked out by the fact that we were going to have to play sports.
Yeah.
They told me to wear a swimsuit that was like secure.
And I'm like, this is a very weird.
And I was like, can someone get shabby in here?
This man is not telling me the right things to wear for this date.
Like this cannot be normal.
And like in the behind the scenes like in the interview where I was like, I don't have any other clothes.
Is that okay?
Like I literally was like.
like, I'm going to get a yeast infection if I wear a wet swimsuit. Do you understand?
And Aaron's like, you're fine. It's okay. Such a dude.
You're closer to be off, but you don't know it. God, you came back, though. My favorite part
of that day, though, is when you finally came back. And I was so excited to hear about it.
You were like, I came down here and I just prayed. And then my titties were out.
And you were like, my family's going to kill me. I said a long prayer.
I, like, my Bible study girls were like, half of me up there.
Like, coconut girl, tell these men about Jesus.
I'm like, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
If nothing else, I'll tell these men about Jesus.
And they're like, thank you close off.
Top is off.
Free the nip.
Don't you know I will say, though?
I probably just felt good being in, like, the sea breeze just carefree.
Honestly, I was thinking, like, what would Becca?
do? What would Demi do? They would take their freaking top off. I was like, you know what? I had my
panic moment. And then I was like, you know what? My mom used to flash people like driving down the
side of the road. So I'm 30 years old. I'm grown. I'm just going to do it because I feel
like I would have regretted. You're going to have so much more, like you would have so much more
fun just fully embracing the moment than being like, but I get when you say I was more afraid to play
sports if somebody put me on a on any sort of athletic sporting date i'd be like no i would rather go
streaking than have to hit this ball right now becca we were supposed to do more sports but it was
raining like you notice we go from dry to soaked yeah we were supposed to go boogie boarding naked
we were supposed to do all kinds of things naked but all we had time for was volleyball and of course
they show the two freaking times where i hit the ball in the damn net i'm like that is more embarrassing
than not having clothes on is showing how
unathletic I am. But you owned it. It looked like you were having a blast.
But can we get into like, I need the real tea
between the two men and their bodies
who had the better wiener?
Between Kenny and the nudist?
Yeah.
Oh, Kenny for sure.
I just glanced for a split second.
He said it was cold.
Wait, the nudist or Kenny?
Kenny.
But the nudis, we did talk about this too.
he had like he was fully shaved
Kenny was not but he did have the tree
he had a tree tattoo like where his
did you ask him if that hurt pubs would be
no we didn't even like really get to talk to him but Kenny was
infatuated with this man's tree tattoo
right above his penis and I'm like
Kenny if you stare at his penis one more time
well it's it's probably because Kenny was like oh I can fit
one more tattoo somewhere
Kenny probably wants to get the
Tree tat. We also had to take a little break, too, a little behind the scene stuff because it was raining so hard. And me and Kenny weren't naked yet, but the nudists were. And they're just like having to stand naked in the rain. I'm like, can someone get them an umbrella or something. Pancho, anything? Did I get some champagne and can get someone give them a robe? Oh, poor. They were. They were. You come back that night. Yes. We're pretty sure Kenny went straight to Demi, too. Oh, I think he did. I think he did. And they full on. Yeah.
Well, you also came back and you were just like, it was fun. Kenny's not for me. It's just, it is what it is. Like, we all understand. Like, not every day it's going to lead to something. And, um, and I was glad that I took him because he was probably the only person who would have been comfortable. Oh, yeah. He was the best. Oh, yeah. He was the best person that you could have picked. Um, no connection. It's fine. Yeah. You know, Kenny gave it his all. I, you know, um, I'm interested to see if he, uh, decides to add any more tattoos to them. It
very soon. But the main thing that we were left with is Kendall strutton down onto that
beach and pulling Joe, which I'm friends with both Kendall. I'm friends with Joe. I'm friends
with Joe. And I miss it. Yeah, you miss it. I will say that. So I was at the bar. I don't remember
who was a good. She looked so good walking down the steps. Like the highest slit, like this bright red
it two-piece, yeah. She looked hot. Regretting my denim shorts, 1,000 years.
But she was on a mission. Like, so Kendall
and I are friends, and I was like, oh, yeah, if Kendall comes, like, we'll
hug it out. You know, like, when everyone arrives, everyone greets each other.
Well, yeah, you almost knock me down. Oh, yeah. I, spider monkey,
straight onto Tia. But Kendall went straight. She didn't stop. She was not
looking, she had blinders on, straight for Joe, straight in for the kill,
pulled him, pulled him aside. A lot of the guys were like, oh, you know, once Kendall finds out that
Serena and Joe are dating, she's going to leave. And I was like, no. I was like, she's going to stay and
see, like, what other guys are here. I also had talked to her beforehand. I had conversations,
just like about where she is in life and dating and everything. And so she's open to meeting people.
Props to her for going straight up to him because she knew she wanted to talk to him. There's no need
in talking to everyone else with an elephant in the room. But he was definitely caught off guard.
I just, and also too, I feel for Serena as well. I can't imagine just being Serena, getting off of this great date, having one of the strongest connections on that beach at that point, and then having the next show up. I would have, I probably would have peed my pants. Yeah. Oh, for sure. Um, what is she going to do in the situation? I mean, hope that he doesn't want to get back with her. I mean, I don't know. That's a tough situation. Yeah. Listen, I know what it feels like to have an ex show up. Um, it happens.
to me in Peru and it was fucking terrible and it's not fun and I didn't I wasn't even like at that
point because obviously we were dating Ari and like seeing where that was going he wasn't even there to
like witness it and it was just so I feel for all parties involved but and like Joe and Kendall are
also both good people your ex is right yeah yeah it's I think what made it so hard too is and this is
something Joe got into on the date is they broke up because of just deciding like
location of where to live like it wasn't like no one cheated there was no any terrible actions that
took place they still are so respectful of each other that that's all it boiled down to which
makes it really tough because I think because of that you're always going to have like the what
ifs like what if so and so moved or what if the other person like what if you could somehow make
it work and that just makes it difficult so yeah we will have to tune in next week again to
find out. I feel like each
week, now I'm going to have to have
a hefty glass of wine to get through.
It was so, it was smooth
sailing when we weren't on the screen
and we could just watch it in recap and be like,
this is so easy. Now we're just like,
ah, shit, what are we going to say?
So please go easy on us,
everyone. But with
that, all being
said, we have to bring on our
guest because he is,
I mean, I have been
a huge fan of him since I was
eight seven or eight i don't even know since i was a little girl uh he has been such an incredible
guest host this week and somebody who i obviously personally met and spent time with and he's just
an incredible human so please welcome to bachelor happy hour mr lance bass everybody oh my gosh
okay i just need to start out that for both tia and myself we were such fans growing up lance
I know that you have such a crazy schedule, but we are beyond thrilled.
I think this is the most excited we've been to have anyone on the podcast.
So first and foremost, thank you for joining us.
To start it off, how have you been?
And I mean, you've been crushing the hosting job on Paradise.
So prior to you coming onto the show, were you a fan of the show?
I was a huge fan of the show.
I've been a part of Batch Nash, is what I call it, for quite a while.
I've seen every season of Bachelor, Bachelorette.
And then when Paradise began, it just, I didn't think I could love a show even more.
So, I mean, Paradise is like my jam.
It's your favorite to watch.
Oh, it's so good because I enjoy multiple people being able to find love.
It's just more interesting for me to watch.
And it's just way more dramatic too.
You bring such a good combo of like wanting to find the love stories and supporting everyone.
but then also the fun, friendly, back-and-forth banter with everyone.
Like, you were just so enjoyable to watch.
And for anyone listening, I mean, there's so much behind the scenes, obviously,
we're constantly filming.
But before I stepped on to Paradise, Lance, I met you first.
And when I just like the holding rooms, I'm so pissed.
I was nervous just going onto the show in general.
I didn't know if it was something I wanted to do.
But then when they were like, oh, you can meet Lance first.
I was like, I'm not prepared for this.
I don't know if my heart can't take this.
And then after hanging out with you, I was like,
F, the beach, I don't even want to meet anyone else.
I just want to hang out with Lance.
Oh, my gosh.
No, it was so fun because you were the only one that I actually got to hang out with
before going into Paradise.
And I'm just say, you walked in.
I'm like, you were a goddess.
You were just glowing, glowing.
Oh, yes.
Wait, I think I need a moment.
I might start crying.
Lance, Matt, you've got to be a goddess.
And you know that because.
you'll see when she walks in next episode everyone's jaw just goes oh crap like they knew
they're going to have some competition oh my gosh tea can you take the rest of this interview
i've had to see myself out this i'm pending on a high note here well i think i missed you by like
three hours lance and i'm so sad oh oh no oh well they'll just have to bring me back next season
Bring it back. Well, I'm not going back.
Oh, you're like, screw that. I'm not going to back.
Tia, we can just go back as like handlers for Lance.
We will help you.
You will get your food. We'll pack your bags, whatever you need.
I love it.
So you obviously spent a week on the beach.
You got to know some of the couples.
Was there anyone who really served out to you, your first couple days there, that you were like,
this is it.
Like, I can see this going like for the long haul here.
Yeah.
I really liked Abigail and Noah.
I love their story.
I just saw a real kind of spark between those,
so I'm hoping that they kind of go far.
And then, of course, my couple Riley and Marissa,
I mean, that was, who knew that was going to go down so quickly?
Because I didn't know much about her,
but I knew a good bit about him.
But they were, I mean, that date just sparked like no other.
It got really awkward at times.
And yeah, it is, I could definitely see them getting engaged at the end of this.
listen we have you to think I think for this initial love story that we were seeing unfold because
you obviously were on that first day with them you hosted with them bits and pieces of it weren't
all that romantic um a lot of it a lot of it but you could tell right away that they just had this
instant connection the spark obviously I think you made a joke about you're like where do I look
right now I don't know you know you were just obviously sitting there watching them make out um
But we have, I mean, like, let's just get into that day with them because it was hot and heavy,
fresh out of the gate. So what made you want to, uh, like put this fun date with all this
crazy food together? And what was it like behind the scenes watching all this unfold?
Well, I definitely didn't put the date together. I wouldn't have chosen animal parts.
I would have chosen a way more romantic setting. Uh, because, you know, I wanted this to work.
Right when I, right when I found out what I was doing, I'm like, oh my gosh. Like these, how are
going to kiss. I mean, this is never going to happen.
But I was pleasantly surprised
that they were such troopers.
They loved all the food.
But yeah, it was very
awkward watching them. I'm sitting there talking
to my producer like, so do I interrupt
them? They're like, no, just make, okay, fine.
I'll just sit here, watch for a good
five minutes. But I knew
it was on after the question.
I don't know what question asked, but she was
like, yeah, you know, I
love to have sex. I love, you know, and he was just
like, bam, okay, this is it.
You could just tell that they really just wanted to rip each other's clothes off after that moment.
Yeah, it was steamy.
After that date, did you have any idea or expect that they would be going to the boom boom room?
No, not at all.
I mean, I didn't know that they would go to the boom boom room that quickly, but I knew that it was going to happen at some point.
It really kind of tipped me off as I was leaving, you know, these dates and three, four in the morning.
And so, you know, we're tired.
I'm in the van going back to my place.
And I kind of see, as I'm leaving, them making out outside with no cameras or anything.
So I'm like, oh, this is, this really, because I didn't really get to watch too much of the date except the parts I was in.
So that's when I knew, oh, wow, this really worked.
But no, I had no idea to be going straight to bed.
They did not waste any time.
Listen, I mean, I mean, I, well, yeah, so I wanted to ask you.
I mean, we obviously saw you in the episode.
You sat down with Natasha at one point and had a one-on-one with her, which I want to get into that conversation.
But was there anyone else that we didn't see that you got to spend some time with, like, Connor or anyone else that you were able to catch up with and give advice to?
Yeah, I got to speak to everyone, really.
I had some good one-on-ones and hard to hearts with a bunch of everyone.
Of course, all that gets cut out because there's a lot of drama happening.
I'm sad.
I wish I wanted to show that.
I don't know.
Natasha, you know, she's super sweet, and I was trying to give her the best advice I could give,
especially knowing certain conversations that were happening behind her back,
but I couldn't let her know that.
You know, you have to figure it out yourself.
So I try to give her the best advice I could give.
And then Taj Wan, I just loved.
I mean, she just makes me laugh so much.
And she basically, I think she's Ashley I, 2.0.
And I love both of that.
Yes.
Have you met Ashley I before?
Oh, I have.
Yeah, several times.
She's awesome.
Yeah.
Oh, she's great too.
So, yeah, that conversation with Natasha, I mean, as you just said, it's hard.
And I can't even imagine being in your position where you obviously want the best for somebody.
And you want to be like, look, like, here's the deal.
I'm hearing certain things or seeing certain things.
But like you said, she has to figure it out on her own.
So when she was going through all of that.
Like, was your approach just to be more of a shoulder to lean on, like a confident?
What was your, like, how does you want your role to be in that conversation?
I wanted to be the gay best friend, you know?
I wanted to be that sounding board for everyone so that, you know, you can't really talk
to many people in the game, really.
So it's nice to have someone that's kind of a little bit removed and maybe give you some
honest advice.
So, yeah, so I hope I was able to make some people feel a little better.
But again, as a big fan, I was just trying to get the tea.
Like, I was thinking out the whole time.
Like, I'm trying to interview Natasha.
I'm like, this is where this happened in season three.
And like, yeah, it's fun.
Yeah.
Well, and you too.
I mean, and this is something that I just thought about because Tia and I were kind of in
the same boat where when we were in quarantine, we still had our phones and computers
so we could work and get stuff done.
So we were kind of seeing some spoilers come out in real time.
of certain cast members
like the Brennan and Piper stuff
but the rest of the cast on the beach
and Natasha wasn't privy to any of that
so she was I think
very blindsided when it started coming out
so yeah I can't even imagine you being able to like
seem here all that and still have to kind of keep
it close and guarded and can't just be like
I know right
yeah I know it was it's
I know I mean it was hard and
the hardest part was because I had watched Bachelorette
you know, going into this so I would know the new guys.
And so, but no one there knew who these guys were.
They hadn't seen the season yet.
So, you know, the Thomas situation and Trey and Aaron,
no one really knew the exact story going on.
And I have to say, the telephone game is horrible in paradise because,
I mean, I don't like defending Thomas,
but he definitely didn't deserve all of that.
I thought a lot of the things he said was kind of like,
Well, I mean, yeah, I mean, it was true.
Yeah, that telephone, listen, we all played it growing up,
and it was so misconstrued, but it's like tenfold on that beach.
It spreads like wildfire, and no one knows the truth.
So I want to get into, obviously, you were hosting the week that a couple new men came in.
Can you give us, who, was there anyone who you were like, oh, he's cute, the most.
muscles like anyone that you would have recommended for tia and i that week um well you know i got
to bring in thomas and i think riley came in that week uh i mean riley that's nice to look at i've
never seen muscles on top of muscles before i mean it was just like and and his swagger too
just like oh okay this guy he knows he knows what he's doing um thomas of course you know
when you see thomas it's hard not to look away i mean it he
is a gorgeous specimen.
But watching The Bachelorette,
I kind of knew the drama that was going to unfold.
So, yeah, I had some preconceived notion on him.
But I'm trying to think of who I would have set y'all up with.
I mean, I'm partial to grocery store, Joe.
I think he's just a sweetheart.
Well, I had that opportunity a couple of years ago,
and I fucked that one up.
Joe's like a big brother to me,
but I do get the appeal.
I love Joe so much.
much but you know sometimes it's nice just to be like you know brother-sister relationship and
a relationship yeah yeah i don't know if you knew this lance but tia and i were on r a season of
the bachelor together so we've known each other for what four years so we're really really close
um so i feel like i kind of took on this big brother big sister role for tia and i was like
nothing but the best for my baby when she when she showed up always
always i love that well i love that that you know this this whole bond
that you get by doing a show like this, this community is amazing that y'all created.
And I see such great support amongst all of y'all, even the ones that have the drama together
end up, you know, supporting each other, loving each other.
And it's just all part of the fam.
I like seeing that.
Yeah, it's like a mutual understanding that nobody else will really get unless you've done a show.
Yeah, right.
Well, now, Lance, you are part of this family.
I know I'm officially part of the Bachelor family.
Oh, my gosh.
You are.
That's kind of plug.
I am too.
Trust me, this is going on the top of the resume.
I'd be like, yeah, I was a bad in paradise.
Okay.
I mean, I just want there.
I know that there's so much that we didn't see.
So is there anything that went down that wasn't shown to the audience that you feel
like you want to share or that something that was really funny that we maybe missed?
Nothing too funny because when I was there,
it was just the most dramatic.
I remember the producers like,
we've never had this much action ever.
What advice would you give for some of the couples down there?
Either ones that you already saw,
you know,
start with some sort of solid foundation like Riley and Marissa
or new ones forming.
Yeah.
I mean, the best thing you can do is
keep an open mind with everything.
This, you know, this experiment is about
testing yourself in relationships.
If you think you, you know, are really into this person.
It's nice to have someone come in
and try to turn your head because then you know if it's real or not.
So I think you really have to just trust the whole process and just be open and honest.
And that's the thing.
Just be honest.
They might be pissed at the first five minutes, but in the end, they're going to be like,
okay, thank you for being upfront and honest because most of the fights are about being lied too.
Great advice.
Yeah, that's the one thing.
It's so interesting watching back because at the end of the,
the day, everything, for the most part, is shown. And especially when you're living with people,
whether it's on the beach or in the mansion, like, you get to know somebody pretty quickly.
And eventually everyone's true colors will be shown. And so it's hard to be dishonest or lie or
try to, like, cover up certain sides to you. It's just not possible. So I think, yeah, that's
the most solid advice, I think, to give to anyone coming on to the beach to do the show is just
to be who you are and own it
because it's going to come out eventually.
Can we expect to see
you on any future shows
in the Bachelor franchise?
I have no idea.
I guess that's up to Bachelination out there.
Did we scare you away?
Or is it something you would want to do?
Are you kidding me? I would be honored
to come back and host some of these
again. It was really
the most fun I've ever had
filming a show. Even with a hundred
degrees and the crabs everywhere.
I could do that 24-7.
Well, I mean, Tia and I would love to watch more of you on our screens.
As I'm saying this, some of the producers on the podcast, they're all writing, yes,
with all the exclamation mark.
So I think you would be.
Just call ABC, people.
Call ABC.
So you won't go to Lance.
This is a good one.
They just said that you should maybe host Menthol all in the future.
Hell yeah.
Let's manifest this right now.
I can bring my good Andy Cohen.
Yes, I could do this.
I would love it.
Oh my gosh.
And Lance,
I just noticed you.
So when I met you,
you had the blue hair.
Yes.
It is washed out right now.
Yeah.
It was fun.
I know.
I love doing fun colors of my hair.
But over the summer,
I was on tours.
I'm like,
all washed out.
So it is back to being blonde.
But I filmed my new show
next week.
We're doing season two.
to do a show called Unicorn Hunters, which is kind of like Shark Tank, but we search for
billion-dollar businesses. And my thing is my hair. So the first season was all blue. And the second
season, I was thinking about going pink. And I haven't decided if I want to do that. I have the weekend
to decide if I want to go all shocking pink. What do you all think? Could we do multiple? Could we do
like levels of the color layers? I mean, if you know how to do that, because I don't.
I know how to do is turn it one color.
Oh, so you do it yourself.
I do, yeah.
I mean, look, the pandemic taught me a lot of things.
I can now bleach and color my hair.
Yeah, do you have to bleach it first and then put color up?
You bleach the crap out of it, turn it white, and then, yeah, you put in whatever color you want, which I got really good at.
It's the highlights that was really bad.
And, you know, I love my frosted tips.
They look good.
Who would have thought you're such a jack of all trades.
We got singer, dancer, co-hosts of Bachelor in Paradise, and now a hairstylist.
Oh, well, you know, I got to keep it interesting.
You do it all. I love this.
Okay. Overall, if you had to describe your time on Bachelor in Paradise or the season as a whole, in one word, what would it be?
My gosh, one word. I don't want to say dramatic because obviously that's used way too much during this.
franchise. But I would say
satisfying.
Oh, that's good.
It really leaves us wondering
in terms of a lot of different things. I'm thinking of
overall the satisfying love stories, the
satisfying evening with Riley and Marissa.
I like that. I mean, you truly
did come in. I mean, I know
everyone says this every season. It's the most
dramatic. It's the most epic. But I
I truly think that, because what is this, Tia, the seventh season of Paradise?
Yeah.
I mean, from what I've seen so far and what we know, I really do think, hands down,
it has been the most dramatic, or it will be the most traumatic.
I've lived it a few times, and it was.
Oh, yes, you have.
Yeah.
Well, I mean, what I saw was definitely the most dramatic I've seen,
and I can only imagine where it goes after me.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah, RAS has to show up.
Well, well, we'll...
Lance, we'll catch up after this, too, and I'll fill you in on a lot of it.
Good, because, yeah, I have questions for you for sure.
Yeah, yeah.
Well, you should just come over one time when I moved into my new place, and we'll do a little
viewing party together.
I am so down.
Let's do it.
Oh, my gosh.
I think I might cry and I'm so excited.
Okay, we have a game for you, but before that, I just want to know, I mean, you have so
much going on in your life.
You are such a crazy, busy person, but what is up next for you?
in life? Anything besides unicorn hunters that we have to look forward to?
Yeah, you know, I'm buttoning up a lot of things in the next month and a half
because of the pandemic a lot, because I produce and write television and film a lot.
So all those projects that were on standby are actually all just going at the same time.
So I'm trying to get all those kind of buttoned up before I leave on paternity leave.
Because I have, I got babies coming in October and I want to, yeah,
twins twins i know a boy and a girl and uh so it's something we've been working on for a very long
time and i'm so happy it's happening so i want to take those first but yeah i want to take those first
two months and just be a really great stay-at-home dad and uh learn how to take care of children
oh my gosh congratulations to you it's going to be one big happy family it's i mean i obviously don't
have children, but I do have a niece. And I can only imagine, you know, bringing home your own babies
what that would feel like. So congratulations. That's so sweet. I will say, I'm a very great
nanny. I, I have pretty good kids. And you're just down the street. So yes, I'll be giving you a
call. My sister put me through the test of how to change diapers. She watched over me for a couple
weeks straight with the niece. So, you know, I'm good. Okay, let's get into this game before we let you
go. Okay, so it's basically paradise superlatives with you. So we are just going to give you a sentence
or a phrase or a question. And then we're going to have the faces pop up so you can see who we're
talking about. Okay. All right. And then you just have to say who it would be. Okay.
Okay. All right. All right. This is a good starter. So Lance, who is more likely to do a shot of
tequila, me or you? Oh my gosh. Well, this is kind of my downfall every time I go to my bar.
everyone buys me tequila shots i actually can't stand the tasted tequila but i take it anyway so because i'm
forced to pretty much every day of my life it's probably gonna be me okay i would say that shiver i feel like
we are the same person i hate tequila but i will i will take it but then it's just like it gives you
such a fun drunk until well and that's the thing i i love how it makes me feel i just hate how it
taste. So, you know, hold the nose and, yeah, drink Sprite or something after.
Oh, Tammy needed help. All of the shots we took in Paradise. She needed somebody to plug her nose down
the hatch. Yep. Marissa's the line down my throat every time. Best dressed, Brendan or Tammy.
Ooh, this is a good one. They both are very fashionable. I like this. I kind of like
Brendan. I mean, he's the model, right? So he should know fashion. So yeah, I'm going to go with
Brendan on this. He's got the turtlenecks. Yeah, he's a turtleneck. Okay. There's no wrong with a
turtle neck for someone else. Oh, this is a good one. I don't even know who I would pick.
Most likely to skinny dip. We have Kenny or Demi. Oh, come on. That's easy. Kenny. I mean,
he already basically, I mean, he came in with a sock on his penis. Listen. Lance, Demi was,
Demi got yelled at for being naked so often. I think after you left. Oh, yeah. So they would give
each other a run for their money, I think.
Okay.
Okay, so it's a tie.
It's a tie.
Okay, most likely to be Wells'
bar back, James or Chris?
I'm going to go with
James. I feel like he would take
it a little more seriously.
Did you meet Chris?
I did not meet Chris. He was not in
when I got there. Yeah.
I think Chris would just complain the entire
time.
Yeah.
Okay.
So, so far, the cutest couple.
It's between Abigail and Noah or Joe and Serena.
This one's hard, but you know what got me?
I think I'm going to go with Joe and Serena just because after she came back from her date,
I thought that was the cutest conversation.
He was so about to quit the show.
And then all of a sudden, she says, you know, I'm into you.
And I thought that was just really cute.
And he's like, oh, yeah, I knew.
I knew that.
Yeah, yeah.
Okay, Joe, did you?
He was not going to throw himself in the ocean, but it's fine.
Yes.
Okay, the underdog that we're rooting for, it's between Connor and Thomas.
Oh, my gosh.
Why are y'all doing this to me?
Gosh, I mean, I'm rooting for them both in different ways.
Wow.
I guess I'm rooting for Thomas just because I think he's really great television,
and I think he is misunderstood a lot.
Although there's, he's a little off.
I have to say, but I don't think he deserves a lot of what he walked into with the, you know, Katie Seasons guys.
I think they really made it hard for him coming in.
Yeah, he had a make up for a lot.
Oh, yeah.
Most likely to be found in the gym, Riley or Kenny?
I'm going to go with Kenny here because I feel like Kenny goes to the gym a lot more.
And Riley's probably the type that just does 10 push-ups a day and looks like that.
Literally.
Yeah.
Yeah, I go to the gym like once in a lot.
month. I can get Riley saying that.
Riley's got some
good jeans. Most
likely
to be sobbing at the bar. We have
Mari or Trey.
Well,
sorry Mari, but I've got to go with
Mari. Because one of the first
things I remember going in, and I get
to my dressing room, and you know, I have the TV screen
with all the different cameras, and I can kind of
hear all the conversations going. And
this is when, you know,
Kenny kissed Demi.
And it was just, I mean, she was a ball and she could not console herself.
So, yeah, so I think she would break down.
Wait, Lance, were you there for the cake throw in the fire?
No, I was not.
I wish.
We all missed it.
But that was like when Tia and I came in, that's all people were talking about was the cake,
the cake throwing.
And then obviously the fight between Mari and Demi.
Suck my ass.
Oh, yeah.
Suck my ass.
Yes, I was, I missed that about like two hours, I think.
damn oh look at that
photoshop photo of me what
yeah
good honey
they didn't take my picture in paradise
I'm offended
I didn't have a cat's photo
I'm like you fuss
mine was terrible
so feel good about that
so maybe it was just
it was my it was my face
and not knowing what to do with my hands
was the real problem
most likely to rile stuff up
on the beach chasing or
me. All right. I'm going to go with you, Tia, because you're brutally honest, and you have your
girls back, so ain't nothing going to go through you. So, yeah, you'd be the one to make things
happen. I will fight someone if necessary, but I'll cry. This is why I love you. Last but not
least, the most iconic cast who went home night one on their season. We have Joe or Tajwan?
Oh, Taj. That's so pretty right there.
I know.
Tadj is so gorgeous.
Most iconic cast, I mean, I got to go with my boy, Joe.
I do.
I think he's great.
If he doesn't find love in paradise, let's just make him The Bachelor.
Let's give him a chance.
Like, look at what he's for himself.
I know.
Oh, my gosh.
If Joe was, if Joe doesn't find love and becomes the next Bachelor, lands,
if you don't host that season, oh, my gosh.
That's amazing.
That's all to you for sin and his ass.
Or they just need, I think they should just do a spin-off
with a gay bachelor.
You know, let's put a bunch of bisexual people into a house and see what happened.
Let me,
Dimmie will clean sweep ever find.
Demi would be the first cast, yeah.
Demi would steal everyone.
I would love that.
I mean,
that is something that I hope the franchise does one day because, oh, my gosh, so entertaining.
Lance, it has been such an absolute pleasure having you on.
I mean, like, the fifth grader in me is screaming her buns off right now.
I did want to tell you my fifth grade
hip hop song
was to
just got paid
Oh yeah
Brad and I eat
Oh yeah
A little Johnny camp
Yeah that that's
Oh my gosh
I think I still have my costume somewhere
I was going to ask my mom to dig up the photo
Or the videos to share
But no one needs to see that
Oh you have to go go search our
We opened up the Billboard Music Awards
I don't know which one year
With that song
and we're basically dressed as pimps.
I think I actually remember that.
I remember that.
I like, can we get away with that today?
I don't know.
But yeah,
we were complete pets.
Oh my gosh.
I love it.
Lance,
thank you so much.
We would love to have you back
any time on the show,
on the podcast.
And yeah,
we will definitely get together
and have to do a viewing party
for one of these episodes.
I would love that.
I'll take you to Rocko's WeHo.
We'll do a little premiere party there.
That'd be fun.
I would love that.
All right.

Oh, hold up. Isn't that against school policy?
See, that seems inappropriate.
Maybe find out how it ends by listening to the OK Storytime podcast
and the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
I'm Dr. Scott Barry Kaufman, host of the Psychology Podcast.
Here's a clip from an upcoming conversation about how to be a better you.
When you think about emotion regulation, you're not going to choose an adaptive strategy
which is more effortful to use unless you think there's a good outcome.
Avoidance is easier.
Ignoring is easier.
denials easier, complex problem solving, takes effort.

Why are TSA rules so confusing?
You got a hood of you. I'll take it all!
I'm Manny.
I'm Noah.
This is Devin.
And we're best friends and journalists with a new podcast called No Such Thing, where we get to the bottom of questions like that.
Why are you screaming?
I can't expect what to do.
Now, if the rule was the same, go off on me.
I deserve it.
You know, lock him up.

No such thing.
This is an IHeart podcast.
