Hello and welcome back to Bachelor Happy Hour.
I'm Rachel.
And I'm Charity.
And today we have a very special guest.
Everyone, please welcome from Grant Susan Latia.
Hello.
Hi.
Thanks for having me.
Listen, we're so excited to chat.
I feel like I haven't seen you since.
Was it Zach and Katie's wedding?
I think December, yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
It's been a long time, but you are glowing and how's life?
Life is good.
It's the holidays are over.
So I feel like I'm finally like getting back into my routine, doing my new year's resolutions.
Just getting everything tight, ready for summer.
What are your new year?
resolution. I'm trying to be more social. I was kind of a little bit of a recluse. I was a stay-home girl
last year and it was so fun. It was so nice. But I'm ready to get out there a little bit this year.
I love that. I think you're well in your way. Thank you. Hopefully. I can't wait to hear about it.
Me too. I mean, we have so many questions for you today. I'm first of all so excited to have you on because
I don't know if we've met. We haven't. I have always been a Rachel Rucky.
fan. Oh my God. Thank you so much. I am a huge Latia fan. I have been doing a deep dive on all
things you this morning. But first, I know that you and Charity are friends. How did you guys meet?
Oh. So Charity and I met because Katie Bigger came and did a chat with me the week of Fantasy
Suites. And I hit it off with Katie. She was like one of the first people that I called when I
got home from filming and so we just got close and then there was like a trip they went on in
in Montana so I was like oh you guys are kind of in my neck of the woods and they let me come yeah
all the girls from Zach season were on that Montana trip for Jess's birthday and so I got to
charity yeah yeah that was like our first little interaction and obviously we were chatting all the
thing. So just having some good quality girl time. It was a memorable trip. Yeah. It definitely
was. Definitely was for sure. Yeah. I love it. That was before grant season was airing, right? Or was it
during? I think it was like right as it was airing. I'm trying to remember. I feel like
it's just birthday in February. Yeah. So it would have started in January, I think. So it had maybe we were a few
weeks in to the season. Yeah. Yeah. It's crazy. Right before all the. A year ago. It's a year ago. It's a
year ago yesterday.
I was about to say.
It feels like longer than a year somehow, but I think it's because your season just
keeps coming up.
Like I feel like it is the topic of conversation at all times.
It's insane.
It's the thing that won't go away.
It won't go away truly.
Speaking of.
I don't know if you saw.
Well, I mean, there's so many things.
We were literally talking about this before.
But Juliana was just on Happy Hour.
And she was talking about it again.
And I know she had a couple things to say about.
Did she say that?
No, I didn't.
I did see that she was on.
I did see that she was on.
I don't know what you're going to say.
Well, I was just curious if you heard it because I went back and listened to it.
I know that she was talking to Joe and Serena.
So this was before Charity and I were on, but she was talking a little bit about fantasy
Swedes and I guess some speculation around that as well as the aftermath of everything.
I guess you guys don't talk then.
And we do not.
No.
I heard that she was unhappy with something that I said on a podcast.
I'm unclear on what specifically she was talking about.
I think I said that Grant was talking about their fantasy suite and she didn't like that I was repeating it, which is fair.
Like I mean, it's a sensitive subject.
Yeah, totally.
It's like I think there's no right way.
Like, no one knows.
There are so many things before that that you're thinking about that when you, I mean,
you guys know when you get to that week, you're like, oh, like, at that point, you're so
tired and exhausted that there's no way to handle it the right way.
You just have to do what you think is best.
And, yeah, I feel bad if she thinks she doesn't like something that I said.
Because I don't mean any disrespect.
And I know that it's sensitive, obviously, like, like, I was, I talked at length about it
with grant on that week because I was like so, you know, I knew how sensitive it was and people
judge women on that week. And so, and they like, you know, I think, yeah, fill in the blanks
if you don't fill it in forum. And so she's right to be sensitive about it 100%. And I feel
bad if I said anything offensive. That wasn't my intent. No, yeah. I don't think it was anything
insensitive at all. I just heard that she was. I don't even. I don't even.
either, by the way.
But it doesn't mean that it, you know, it doesn't, just because I didn't mean to offend someone
doesn't mean that that's how it landed.
So I feel that's how it was taken, you know?
Yeah.
No, I think like you have like the right mindset.
I mean, you guys think everyone a year later is coming to terms with everything.
And I think just like being able to be reflective on, you know, you guys is season and
everything that transpires.
So I think everyone's like in the best spot that.
they can be in considering all things. So I think that's very mature of you to say. But yeah,
I think as you sit with things, that's typically what happens in this franchise is like,
you know, we have one feeling about something in the moment. And then it's like two years later,
we're like, wait, okay, now I really can like get the full scope of everything, you know.
So those things are always evolving. But I think like different things hit you sideways,
like at different times too. For sure. Like sometimes like I think, like I think. Like sometimes like I
think of things or like I'll see a clip and I'm like, oh, yeah, I didn't like that.
I wish I would have said that different or whatever, but you live in a other.
I thought you handled yourself so beautifully. I loved watching you on Grant season.
We don't have to like stay and linger on The Bachelor stuff because I. For sure.
So many questions about you and what you have been up to since. I do want to ask like before we like
wrap up just like obviously talking about like, yeah. But like I do love to like kind of like what I was just
referencing to about like after a certain amount of time has passed like obviously people have
different feelings about everything so like obviously like we mentioned it's been essentially
a little after a year like a year to this day of you guys this season airing and like obviously
there's so much like we said has transpired in between that but like how do you feel like
being where you are at now and like being able to reflect and sit back on everything like how do
you feel about everything yeah sure
I think that I look back on it so fondly.
I don't know how you guys felt, but like I had so much fun.
It was so fun for me to meet the girls.
I still talk to most of the girls.
Like I talked to like Alicia yesterday, Alex this morning, Serafina, like I'm texting her.
Like we're still like very close and keep in touch and stuff.
And our season is just, I mean, I don't know if it's like this for you guys.
But like it's just stuff keeps coming up.
like people people on lives people in comment sections people on podcast like it just keeps coming up
so it's fun to not be a part of it I guess anymore but just to watch what yeah oh my gosh yeah
I'm like I'm gonna say if we want to get into it I was I don't care yeah I have
Are interesting.
Yeah, the lives, I'm not really sure.
And this is a safe space.
It's a safe and a public space.
So we absolutely can't chat about it.
I don't know if...
What do you guys think about it?
I think it's strange.
I think there's a lot of things that are happening that are strange.
And no tea, no shade.
I just want to be very clear.
So everyone who hears this, no tea, no shade.
But the one in specific that I am referring to,
obviously I know Grant means.
well when he's like, you know, I think he's like essentially kind of probably in this like
rebranding moment of his life, which is very understandable, obviously considering the way
everything kind of unfolded. But I'm like, okay, you know, with the, the lives are very,
it's just a very thin line to like, you know, tread on. And I feel like, you know, how frequently
they have been. It's so vulnerable, right? Right. Lives are so vulnerable because people are just
leaving comments and like going off and you can't like control or moderate or like filter any of it.
It's just like a reaction in real time. And I think like one thing looking back on now and I was like I think
about this a little bit because when I when you're going through it and everything is airing,
it's like you're drinking from a fire hose right. Like this is like so much speculation and
intention and like it's it's fun and it's so exciting. But then like I think one of the things.
things that I didn't think about as much during, like as it was airing, but I think about now
is like Grant being the second black bachelor.
I think that there was like a lot of weirdness.
But I do think that there was a lot of extra speculation and scrutiny because of that.
And I feel like I got also extra scrutiny for that reason with like by reaction and in the breakup and stuff.
And so I think like as I have learned more about, I don't know, like, you know, just microaggressions and being treated differently as like a person of color.
Those are things I look at the reaction that the world had to him or to me or to, you know, people of color.
Like I look at it through that lens now that I'm like, you know, maybe we should have just been a little bit kinder.
And I think it's not.
I don't know.
Like, I just, there's, I think a lot of internalized biases that people aren't necessarily aware of that
influences the kind of tone that people take with it.
I love that you're, I don't know.
Like, acknowledged him that, which is what, no, it 100% makes sense.
And I'm like, for me, that's why I'm like, I always kind of do have this like soft spot in my
heart for him because I do understand.
I'm like, obviously also being a lead that was of color.
So I'm like, I get it.
I get that you almost kind of have to like walk this line, especially within this franchise,
but even just coming into reality TV space in general of like doing things almost like
so perfect that you can't make a mistake.
Like you don't really have room to make a mistake, which I think again, like you said,
watching it back, you see like, oh, and probably for him too.
It's like in those moments, you don't realize it until after you're watching it back and
after everything is like, you know, edit in and this is the final product.
It's like, oh, I could have done this better.
I could have handled this.
I could have not said this or even the aftermath of like.
like, you know, press and all of that. So I think like for him, that definitely probably is weighing
a weight on him and probably still is. It's kind of something I think you will always carry with you
because, you know, depending on the things that people send to you or whatever, it's like,
that's just stuff you have to live with and deal with and navigate on your own. So like for that
reason, I'm like, I'm glad you said that because I do have a soft spot for him, but then they're
also, I'm like, I just want to be like the little birdie in your ear being like, it's okay.
You don't have to do a live today. Like, it's okay. Like, like, that people think,
Like, you know, let people like realize, like, whatever they want to think about you.
And like, I know that's probably a long work in progress.
It was for me.
Like, I was kind of similar of like, oh, the things that I would see.
I was like, oh, I would take it to hard.
But then I'm like, no, you know what?
I'm going to let you guys figure out what you need to figure out about me.
It's not true.
I know myself.
And, you know, it's like those are work in progress.
I think that he just has to come to terms with.
So I do.
I wish him the best.
But I'm like, the lives.
Wait a minute.
Just hold on, Grant.
I haven't I haven't seen him, but like I think the gist of them is like they're, it's like dating.
Yeah.
I think that.
Yeah.
Well, I just had seen a couple.
And I guess Latia, I wanted to get your opinion.
You talked earlier.
And I mean, we all feel this a year later looking back.
You can digest everything.
And I think maybe now he's ready to talk about things because I mean, when I was watching and I feel like when a lot of people are watching, they assume that you two were going to.
end up together. So a lot of these questions are centered around you and kind of like what happened.
And I think he did bring up the religion and the aspect of feeling blindsided by it.
Did you see any of that?
No, I mean, that's been a common thing that he has said.
I think initially in press, he was very much like, no, no, it wasn't religion.
But then more recently, he's like, no, no, it was religion.
So I mean, I don't really know where it was.
Like, I don't know how much of it was.
I know that I talked about it on our first one-on-one day in L.A.
But he says it was in Scotland.
I know that's not true.
But it's to me, I brought it up again.
Yeah.
I brought it up.
And I'm like, I hate to split hairs now because it doesn't matter that much.
Right.
And I think if it is the religion thing, that's totally fair.
Like, that's such a, like, valid reason to not.
choose like a life partner, like if you don't agree on those things.
But yeah, I, I, the story kind of changes a little bit every time I hear it, which,
and I'm not hearing it straight from the source.
So he could be saying the same thing and it just depends on who it happens,
who happens to hear it and how they choose to write about it or whatever or send it
to me like different clips, but I'm sure that religion played a role in it, but I think the most
surprising part to me was that anytime I ever brought it up, he was like, no, it's not an issue.
What do you mean? No, that's totally fine. No. Really? Yeah. I feel like, yeah. And like,
obviously, I mean, you can probably answer this, but like I was doing a lot of like analyization,
just watching you guys this season and then obviously like how things again played out afterwards.
and I'm like, do you feel like, I feel like, I don't know, there's just, again, certain things
and I'm like, oh, I see parts of myself maybe in Grant, like, you know, before I did the whole
therapy thing and, you know, worked on myself.
But I do feel like maybe a lot of that was coming from a place of like people pleasing or
just like kind of giving the answer that he maybe thought you wanted to hear at the time
rather than like staying true to like, I guess, his initial beliefs or concerns or whatever
Does that make sense kind of what I'm saying of like him saying, yeah, like, no big deal versus like saying like, okay, it potentially could be a big deal.
But right now, like, we're still evolving in our relationship.
Maybe that's a bridge.
I'll cross when I get there.
Like, we'll have a later conversation.
That's not really how it ever went with you guys.
It was always just like a yes right out the out of the gate.
Yeah.
I mean, yeah, that I think to me was like it's obviously, of course, it's the bachelor.
He's dating multiple women.
I know that it's like, even if he says that it's.
me or whatever, that he's still pursuing other relationships.
And so until I'm the last person left, obviously that's an option.
So I really can only rely on the conversations that we're having where we are, I am bringing
up important things that he, like, in my opinion, information that he would want to know
when he's making these decisions.
And so if there was anything that was a cause for concern or changed the nature of the
promises that he was making to me, that those would have been addressed.
And they weren't. So I think that was like my disappointment was like, of course you can have, of course you don't have to pick me. Even if you said a million times that you were going to because I know what else is going on. I wish that you wouldn't make those promises. But he did. And it's okay. Like, you know, everything works out the way it's supposed to. But I think my issue was that like they weren't brought up. So that we could have a discussion about it. It was just like, if it.
if that was the reason why, which before he said it wasn't the reason and then later it was the reason.
I don't know.
I think like, and also it's tough because he was engaged to somebody else when it ended.
So I think that answers, you know, sometimes would a little bit be catered to her feelings because he can't say, well, it was the other girl's religion.
He has to say it's because my feelings were stronger for the person I'm engaged to, which is also probably true.
Like both things can be true.
I don't know.
I like,
yeah.
That was a jumbly mess,
but I think,
no,
I want to give him grace,
even though it was really,
really hurtful initially.
Um,
and I was really mad.
Like,
yeah.
When it first ended,
like the season and like all of the press afterwards,
but,
um,
I want to give him both grace and they're doing the best they can.
I was drinking from a firehouse.
So I can,
you know,
only imagine what it was like for them.
Um,
I think he's doing his best.
Yeah.
I think he's a good person.
Yeah.
I mean, I agree.
I think Grant wouldn't hurt a fly, but I think obviously certain things that he's just
navigating.
And we can all.
And he's not alone in that as the other part to you.
I think men do it all the time.
Exactly.
So it's not like he's like a special kind of villain because he says things to women and then
changes his mind.
I think that happens every day.
Yeah.
His just happened to play out on an entire season that was his own.
But this happens every single day.
I'm like, he is not the only one.
Yeah.
Like, no, honestly, there's no innocent man out here.
I'll say that.
Yeah.
But have you guys, like, talked or like, has there been any, like, I don't know,
just maybe reconciliation of just like, okay, we are on the same page here.
I wish you the best.
I wish you the best.
And separate paths, whatever.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Mm-hmm.

Welcome to the A building. I'm Hans Charles.
I'm Inalick Lamouba.
It's 1969.
Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr.
Have both been assassinated.
And Black America was out of breaking point.
Writing and protests broke out on an unprecedented scale.
In Atlanta, Georgia at Martin's Almermata, Moore House College,
the students had their own protest.
It featured two prominent figures in black history,
Martin Luther King's senior and a young student, Samuel L. Jackson.
to be in what we really thought was a revolution.
I mean, people would die.
1968, the murder of Dr. King, which traumatized everyone.
The FBI had a role in the murder of a Black Panther leader in Chicago.
This story is about protest.
It echoes in today's world far more than it should, and it will blow your mind.

Hey, I'm Jay Shetty, host of the on-purpose podcast.
On a recent episode, I sat down with Nick Jonas, singer, songwriter, actor, and global superstar.
The thing I would say to my younger self is congratulations.
You get to marry Priyanka Chopra Jonas.
And also, you know, your daughter's incredible.
That's beautiful, man.
Yeah.
Thank you.
That's so beautiful.
I can see that got you a little.
Yeah, for sure.
Our daughter, she came to the world under sort of very intense circumstances, which I'd not really talked about ever.
Growing up on Disney in front of a million, how did that shape your sense of self?
I went blank, I hit a bad note, then I couldn't kind of recover.
And I built up this idea that music and being musician was my whole identity.

on the IHartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Oh my gosh.
Okay.
That's it, though.
Like, no, it's not like, it's not like a big juicy.
It was just like, I think, kind of like burying the hatchet, mending fences and just like
wishing each other the best.
Okay.
I love that you guys obviously have been able to talk and bury the hatchet, but I saw
he was maybe in the comment section of your co-host on your podcast.
So was that after the reconciliation or before?
Yeah, Chase is kind of a vigilante in the comment section.
And he has just like a funny sense of humor.
So I think he antagonized Grant a little bit, just like in defense of me and then Grant, like, responded.
I don't know.
I know that Chase doesn't hold anything against Grant. He just doesn't agree with like,
I think how he like spoke about me and he's just being like a good friend. But yeah,
the reconciliation was after that. And I kind of brought that up. Like, I think it would be great
for us to be like positive and in a good place. And like, I don't think that we need to kind of drag
everything online moving forward and he agreed and I think that's where like I think he's a
good guy I think he just gets like um I don't even know what the word is like triggered sometimes
people say things and yeah and you have you know an emotional reaction which is human but I think
we're in a good spot good that's good I love to hear he sounds very protective over you how did
friendship all start. Yeah. So we met actually like a year ago at Sundance. He was dating someone
that I was friends with and we kind of met that way. We had like other mutual friends and kind of just
started being in the same places. And then I got really close with his ex-wife Miranda and they are
co-parents. And so, and they have like a really awesome great co-parenting relationship. And so I got
closer to chase through Miranda, like the three of us. Like if I'm with Miranda and he'll be at
her house, like throwing the football with their kids. And so we just got closer that way.
I love that. I think people and fans online have loved to watch your relationship with Miranda.
obviously she is on Secret Lives,
some Mormon wives.
Do you think there's a possibility we could ever see you on there?
I'm like,
are we teasing up something for a new season?
I'd like to see Lydia on this.
I don't know.
I will tell you that they do not need me.
They're doing like great things over there.
Yeah, they have enough going on.
They don't need me for sure.
but I um yeah we'll see I don't know yeah I'm gonna push would you would you do it like if they were
like yeah like we want you on like is that something you see like okay yeah mm-hmm I love that
I absolutely love that you're close with all them or just Miranda and Chase so I'm closest
with Miranda and Chase and Layla okay she seems like a total sweetheart I'm like that's like
She is.
The one girl that I'm like, I want to meet.
Like, I want to meet.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Layla's so sweet.
And gorge, just stunning.
Yeah.
Both of them.
Have you heard any spoilers for Taylor season then being in that circle?
I know.
I'm like, I think I just read your face.
It's okay.
No, legal.
No, I think for legal reasons, of course not.
I'm touching my curls that you would even have.
No, she would never say anything.
Of course not.
No.
I have, I mean, I have my like guesses, but I don't have any like hard evidence or any dead
giveaways.
Yeah.
I'm wondering.
She's keeping it.
She's keeping it pretty close to her chest.
Close to the chest.
Okay.
Is it going to be juicy?
Good.
Do you know anything about that?
Yes.
I think that it will, yeah.
I, I'm sat for it.
Like I'm.
I'm excited to watch.
My biggest thing is...
She's so entertaining to watch.
Yeah.
I just love...
Yeah.
I love, love...
Yeah.
I'm excited.
I feel like it's because you just like don't know like where...
You know, like you can't predict her next move, which I'm like, I think that's like...
It can go either way here.
Totally.
Totally.
Well, and I think too, and like both of you will get this more than me, but I think like as a lead there
it is like so much pressure, I think, to like live up to something like for the franchise because
it's such a, um, like a longstanding like tradition of like reality TV. You know what I mean?
So there's like so many like bachelor like specific things. And Taylor is really like she marches
to the beat of her own drum. And so I think that I mean, and she loves the franchise. Obviously
she wouldn't have agreed to do it without it. But I just know that she will do things like her.
way that feel right to her and she you know it's very like strong willed and has like a very good
sense of who she is and can advocate for herself and she's very honest and stuff which I think
makes really entertaining TV and I think that I'm excited to watch it in Bachelor World. Do you know
what I mean? Right. Yeah. Yeah. From the other side of the curtain. Yeah. Yeah. It'll be so interesting.
I feel like there is so much pressure to be a lead to put on a good season. She's going to give us an amazing
season. I am so excited for her. For you next, you have some exciting things coming up. Yeah. I'm
like, what is next? What's next for you? Podcast. What's next for me? Podcast. Yeah. How did this all come to be
this podcast? Yeah. I have thought about doing it for a while just because I feel like, and I'm sure you guys can
agree with this that Bachelor, like being on that show really showcases like certain parts of your
personality, but not, it's like just definitely not like a holistic view. Yeah, exactly. And so I think
that I'm anxious to not just be the come on now girl and, um, not just like, like I, I, and I don't have any
like bad memories of it.
Like it was great fun while it lasted.
But I think it's not, you know, the entirety of who I am.
I feel like I have other things to say.
And so it's just and Chase has done podcasts before.
And I think he has always wanted to do one.
And we have good conversations together a lot about just like being single at this stage
of life and being social.
and we're similar in a lot of ways in that like we understand each other and there's like a lot of
mutual respect but we disagree about like a lot of things which I think is entertaining.
So when we're back in full force, I think that's what people will see that we're we have mutual
respect but we typically disagree.
I love that because I remember like hearing or seeing somewhere that you guys like when you guys
first met that it was like you were like not really too fond of them.
So I'm like, this is like full circle.
I'm like, this is crazy.
And now you guys are sitting down on a podcast talking about things, sharing thoughts.
Like, yeah, Loke kind of love it.
I think we both have like really strong personalities and strong opinions loosely held.
Like, but we're both like very open minded and we want to like, you know, be agreeable and like get along and see each other side of things.
And so we haven't talked about anything I think necessarily very heavy yet.
But we do talk about that in person life.
so I'm sure those things will come up.
And I think that it's fun to talk to people that you disagree with about things that are
important because it's, I think, important to have an ever-evolving opinion just because,
yeah, seeking out information and truth is all you can really do and just try and find what
feels right to you.
And I think that's what we do with a lot of life stuff.
I don't know if that makes any sense.
No, it does.
Yeah, I'm excited to see, like you said, the other side of you and maybe a side that you
haven't shown to the world.
Charity's seen it.
Charity, no.
I can't wait.
Yeah.
I'm like, Latia saw my other side the first day she met me.
No, I know.
So I'm like, I know.
Yeah.
I'm really excited to see you showcase that.
I saw you said also that Chase kind of pushes you a little out of your comfort zone and maybe
encourages you, like today has he set you up on any days?
No.
No.
Chase hasn't.
Chase hasn't set me up necessarily.
I'm like so picky.
But he is so good at helping me put myself out there and like inviting me to be like I was
really after like my seasonary.
I was like really I kind of got like a little bit introverted and just kind of I think
overstimulated.
So I just kind of took a beat and had like some self care time.
But and which is I think healthy and what I needed at that time.
But Chase was really helpful in like getting me out.
And so is Miranda.
Like inviting me like get out of the house, go on a trip.
Yeah.
Like do things get out there.
And he's a really good friend.
He's like and I don't know if you guys have watched like secret life.
Like he gets himself into sticky situations for sure.
But he means well.
And he's.
Yeah.
fiery that he's a good friend and yeah yeah he's a writer the dynamic for sure is it easy to say
that obviously because i'm like i've only seen like a little bit but like maybe to viewers like kind of
what you're saying like one dimensional like side or personality that we're seeing but it like
it'll take someone actually spending quality time with him to like get to know really who he is
and like how he like interacts and treats people yeah i think like most of the time he is like
one of the most likable people like you're not going to find like a friendlinger face in a room like
yeah he's like a like very warm welcoming social person um i think that most what i what i knew him as
before i like met him and was friends with him was like the confrontation and he definitely
like doesn't shy away from that so i think that's what is known about him but he's most of the time
like a very reasonable, likable, normal, intelligent person.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Are we going to see him more on the next season of Mormon wives?
I know, like, when it left off, he was at that dinner date with Taylor.
Oh, I forgot about that.
Oh, yeah.
Any inside scoop on next season?
I don't have a ton about next season, but I would think that he'll be on there.
more that would be my guess she was like yes i'm excited to see um that would be my guess i have no idea
like i haven't seen it i don't know yeah yeah and they yeah oh wait a while ago yeah no i was like
they filmed it a while ago so i'm like i don't even know it's coming out soon i think right is it
is it oh my god march 12 at the same time as bachelorette it's like a i think a week before oh my god
oh so it's like simultaneously oh
This is crazy.
No,
a crazy,
Lana.
I am so ready.
I just need,
like,
entertainment at this point.
I mean,
I need to be doing about that.
They are,
there is no shortage of that.
I will tell you.
Like,
even when they're not filming,
it doesn't stop.
It doesn't stop.
And you're, like,
involved in it now.
No,
I wouldn't,
I, like,
you're just involved.
I just,
like,
a little bit more aware of it.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I'm more aware of it, yeah.
The front row seat.
I would do so much to be a fly on the wall in all that.
Rachel wants in.
I know.
She's like,
she's like to move to Utah.
Come, come visit.
No, I'm dead.
No, charity knows.
There's an open invite.
I have a guest room.
I'm like, I haven't been to her house.
Yes.
I was going to say Utah, like, what's the dating scene like there?
Is it like everyone, everyone?
Terrible.
Terrible.
Yeah.
It's this big.
Like, it is just...
So like everybody knows everybody.
It is like, yeah.
Terrifying.
It's like fishing in a very shallow puddle.
It's just everybody knows everybody and there's no...
Yeah, no new blood, really.
So you have...
It's just everyone's related or everyone's exes.
Not related.
Not related.
That's terrifying.
Oh, my gosh.
Okay, so maybe we won't come to Utah for the day.
dating. Well, I can still come because I do believe I have, correct. Like, I do have a man,
so I'm okay. But we are working on whenever. Rachel,
yes, for a date. I know. I'm still fishing in the pond. It feels like everywhere the pond is
dry. So Salt Lake City. I know. I'll have to take a little girl's trip.
I know. We'll come. Yeah. Help us. Let's hear what you ever go back on a dating show.
Yeah. Do you want to ask that? I'm like,
Like, if you, like, would you ever do paradise?
Any?
Maybe.
Yeah, it depends on who's there.
There, maybe some cuties.
Yeah, I don't know.
Oh, I think that would be so tea, like you on Paradise.
People have been waiting for Latia to come to Paradise.
Yeah.
Oh, they're fine.
They don't.
There's so many.
There's so many people.
I need to watch it.
No, I think like with the right, because I mean, again, like we said,
y'all season made Splash in like,
I don't want to say not in the,
no,
the face you just made.
Like,
not in a not good way,
but I'm like,
you guys have very,
like,
I mean,
Grant alone,
but then you guys as a cast,
like I feel like y'all's personalities
were very,
like,
just dynamic.
So I'm like,
I would love to see like a few more girls
from y'all season on Paradise.
And then like,
Taylor's got,
please wrap it up.
I'm like,
I am there.
I'm watching.
I know.
I think it would be insane.
I hope she has some,
some cuties. I would love. I would love, I want to see Serapina. Like, I think she would be so good on it.
Exactly. I like, yeah, I, I would want a hundred percent. And I feel like Sarahina plays no games.
No. That's why I love her because I'm like, we are so like, I'm like, yeah, she has no time for foolishness.
She is the funniest girl in the world and like sweet, like has the most tender, sweetest heart.
Yeah.
Yeah. But yeah, I'm like, especially now, like after seeing Alex and Andrew, they're so cute. I'm
like oh maybe I should have I'm obsessed with Alex and Andrew I think on Paradise I
know underestimated them a little bit but no I mean from the beginning I was like no they're
they have like similar personalities like they're just I went on happy hour I went on happy hour
and I said Alex and Andrew you predicted them yeah they were one of my predictions I feel like
they're a match made in heaven yeah personalities are exactly like I need to see more of them and I
I love them.

Welcome to the A building.
I'm Hans Charles.
I'm Inalek Lamumba.
It's 1969.
Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr.
have both been assassinated,
and Black America was out of breaking point.
Writing and protests broke out on an unprecedented scale.
In Atlanta, Georgia, at Martin's Almemada,
Morehouse College,
the students had their own protest.
It featured two prominent figures in black history.
Martin Luther King Sr. and a young student, Samuel L.

Her husband, Mike, was on his laptop.
What was on his screen would change Saskia's life forever.
I said, I need you to tell me exactly what you're doing.
And immediately, the mask.
King off.
You're supposed to be safe.
That's your home. That's your husband.

Hey, I'm Jay Shetty, host of the unpurposed podcast.
On a recent episode, I sat down with Nick Jonas, singer, songwriter, actor, and global superstar.
The thing I would say to my younger self is congratulations.
You get to marry Priyanka Chopra Jonas.
And also, you know, your daughter is incredible.
That's beautiful, man.
Yeah.
Thank you.
That's so beautiful.
I can see that got you a little.
Yeah, for sure.
Our daughter, she came to the world under sort of very intense circumstances,
which I'd not really talked about ever.
Growing up on Disney in front of a million,
how did that shape your sense of self?
I went blank.
I hit a bad note, then I couldn't kind of recover.
And I had built up this idea that music and being musician was my whole identity.
I had to sort of relearn who I was if you took this thing away.
Who am I?
Listen to On Purpose with Jay Chetty on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
I need to see, like, Chase set you up on dates and, like, you come back on the podcast and recap.
And talk about them.
Like, that means a bad for segment.
Ooh, that would be great.
Yeah.
I think if he, that's the thing I'm like, everyone he knows is from Utah.
So, like, I don't.
I already know all of them, you know?
I really need to, like, get out there.
Yeah, do you feel like, I mean, is there anything like specifics that you obviously, I mean, I feel like I know you, but I'm like, I guess in terms of like, do they need to live in Utah? Like, are you open to like long distance? Like, what does that look like? Yeah. I don't, I don't think they need to move to Utah and I'm open to spending time outside of Utah. I don't, I think especially like in the beginning, I don't, if someone wasn't from here, I wouldn't expect them to move here for.
that. So like I'm open to moving to somewhere that I want to live, you know. But yeah, I'm just
looking for someone nice and honest and cute and funny. Nice, honest, cute and funny. That's like literally
every girl's dream. I know. Like the bar is so low. It's in hell. God help us. Underwater.
No, I know. Well, if not dating, I guess I also had a question like about the podcast. We go on The Bachelor,
right and our dating life is public and i feel like we're all fine answering questions about that but it feels
like now your private life is sort of becoming a little bit more public how's that been um it's an
adjustment for sure i think um i think that it's like so it's so hard to like know what to share
because for the most part because i'm a private person it's not because i i'm like scared to share
I'm just like, I don't even, it doesn't occur to me that people like want to know anything else.
Do you know what I mean?
And so I think that it's hard to know what to share.
And then some things just get shared by other people about me.
Unprovoked.
Yeah, unprovoked.
And so like I, it's hard to know what to respond to with that too because I think online is never really where anything gets resolved.
It typically just like makes things worse.
Do you know what I mean?
because there's so much room for interpretation.
And there's just not a ton of allowance for nuance.
Right.
And instead of just trying to resolve something with the person that you have,
like, issues with, it becomes a topic for the court of public opinion
and everyone gets to weigh in on everything that was like typically like a private issue.
But I think that's part of like going on a show.
is that then people are interested in you're obligated to share, you know?
So I haven't found that balance yet and still finding my way.
You guys have tips for me.
Please let me know.
I'm just going to say it definitely comes with time.
I'm like Rachel probably knows more so, like being in your position.
But it feels crazy because I feel like Latia, I do see like stuff even on my TikTok
about your personal friendships and your personal life.
And I have not had to experience that, but it feels like with.
Have you not?
I mean, not really.
I guess when it comes to dating and in my friendships within the Bachelor world, Charity,
do you feel like people have been that invasive as they are with Latia with you?
Definitely not.
I mean, probably the only thing I'm like, maybe like me and Kat, but like that's about it.
Like, and that was like a very short.
Exactly.
That was within Bachelor.
But I also like I feel like I have found a very good balance of how much I give like
in terms of people who are not already in this space because I'm like, my friend.
from back home. Like, it's not that I don't want to post them. It's just like I'm very protective
over them and like I don't want people like digging through their lives. So like that is a very like
fine line that I just like don't play with. I do it with my family. I'm like I'm just also not
tagging my family's like Instagram profiles because I don't need you guys doing like deep dives.
Like it's actually insane that you know my second aunt or my aunt like cousin. Like it's
they know everything. Because you can't take it back. Right. Once it's out there, then people
know something about someone and right you after you've like been through it you don't want to subject
anyone to that unless it's what they want exactly which nine times out of 10 I'm like they are all like
no like I want to kind of keep this like private I like what we have yeah I think too like it's hard
for me to find a balance because I think the stuff that you're talking about that is like
online about my personal life it's not from me it's from other people I was going to ask you that
And so I'm like, I don't know how to respond to it because I don't want to make it, you know, worse.
Like to me resolving it is like call me on the phone.
But when, you know, you're popping up in TikTok comment sections, like, yeah, the way that I see it, like, that's none of my business.
Like, you're not trying to resolve anything with me.
Like, that's just like not how I'm going to communicate with someone.
Right.
And like resolve an issue.
Right.
Yeah.
It's just like, you know where to find me.
So.
Yeah.
Because it sounds like, even.
with Grant, you're wanting to have these conversations, like, privately outside of the internet,
but it feels like everyone around you is, like, bringing it back to the internet.
And you don't really have, like, the option when they do that.
Right. Yeah. No, I'm, it's just kind of forced. And the thing, too, I want to be clear about
is that I'm so happy for everyone to, like, talk about their experience and their side of it.
I don't think that it's like, don't talk about me, don't whatever. Because I'm a part of
their experience. And I feel like I should be able to talk about my experience. And,
as it relates to grant or, you know, anyone else.
But I think that like when there's like an ongoing like issue, like maybe just try
and resolve it privately.
And then you can talk about publicly like, you know, everything.
But when you're kind of in the middle of it, it just like makes it worse to drag it out
and involve strangers on the internet.
To me, it's just like.
I agree.
Yeah.
Definitely a choice.
Yeah.
It's definitely a choice without a doubt.
Exactly. And at that point, I'm like, is this about something else or is this actually about like maintaining and wanting to either strengthen whatever, resolve our relationship? Because then to me, I'm like, no, it's not. It's about you want all eyes on this. You want to have, you want to be a circulating.
Correct. You want to be a circulating topic, trending topic. It's like I'm, I want no parts. No thank you.
Yeah. And right now I feel like your friend group is such a trending topic. So people are just like,
looking at the littlest minute of details and like trying to get involved.
Yeah.
I would agree with that.
Do you think on your podcast with Chase, you'll be like diving more into that or you're like
not going to touch it?
Yeah.
I think that like we have like an advice segment where people will write in.
And I think like as it relates to us talking about things in a general way, I, I definitely
don't want it to be like anything like gotcha.
like getting like trying to like disparage anyone or like create any like negative attention for
anyone but a hundred percent like I will use it to share my opinions about things and like my
experiences and I think that um it's funny because no one really asks of me about anything
directly so I'm like I don't like I don't really ever feel pressured to talk
about it. I just like obviously like see it like people will send me screenshots or
semi-links and I'm like, oh, interesting. Yeah. So you're seeing like videos about people talking
about you, but no one is saying anything directly to you. No one will ever like text you or like call
you or talk, like want to talk things out or like ask to talk about that. We had, we had one
conversation. You're better than me. Yeah, I was going to say all of this. No, I'm not. No, I'm not.
No, because I had the way I would say that I just had. No. No, I'm like, if I saw a video about me,
I would be like, excuse me, this is news to me.
What's going on?
This is news to me.
It's the whole thing, too.
And I'm like, not me, like, making this comparison.
It's embarrassing.
But, like, I don't know if you guys saw the stuff with Haley Bieber and, like, the
Justin stuff.
And there's, like, a creator that was making content, like, saying that he was abusive
and an addict and all this stuff.
And, like, like, Haley's, like, legal team reached out.
And it was like, hey, this is.
But to me, I'm like, I never would have saw that.
video that was made unless Haley had posted about it.
So it's hard for me to know like when do I like address something and when do you
not?
And to me, I'm like, I don't feel like anything is like blown out of proportion or I feel like
so grossly misunderstood that I have to speak on it.
I'm just like, yeah, people are going to speculate and talk about things.
And yeah, I just also am like not one to dedicate time and energy to people that are
committed to misunderstanding me.
Like if that's like that's your choice like that's just like I don't if yeah it's not my ministry
if I'm a bad guy in your yeah in your in your book that's totally fine it's a free country
absolutely whatever you want as a matter of fact let me wear the hat today well and I'm just like
and no one really ever asked for my opinion so yeah if you just yeah want a forum to share your
experience that's great I'll use my forum to talk about mine
It took me years to come around to that, but I'm like, no, I love that perspective because that's how I treat everything now in life. I'm like, yeah, go off. As a matter of fact, make it words. And I'm like, I want to do it with like kindness and respect too, right? Yeah. It's also like, I think that was another thing that like the words that you say people, it like was new to me to learn how people online use your words to fuel hate for other people sometimes. Literally yes. And so it's just to be like careful about.
I want to share my experience, but I don't want anyone to be disrespected.
And so it's hard to know what's okay to share and what hasn't,
which is another reason why I haven't spoken a ton about it because I don't want to create
anything like negative or hateful.
Like I feel like I've experienced from the things that people have said.
So it's a fine line.
It's a tricky, it's a tricky balance.
But I'm also like, I didn't bring it.
I didn't make something public.
Somebody else did.
Yeah.
So I 100% will clear my name and share my side of something if somebody else chooses to make it a topic of discussion publicly.
Right.
Right.
Absolutely.
I'm like you're just in a little.
I know.
Like you're so, like you're so much more mature than I am.
I love listening to you talk.
I feel like I've learned so much.
I'm like,
this is like,
relax.
Oh, please.
No,
are you kidding?
I learn from you to stop.
I always say that though.
No one's running anything from me.
But no,
I love it.
What's-
Rachel,
you're insane.
No one's learning anything from me is crazy.
No,
that's not true at all.
And I will take that.
If anything,
I'll make the mistake
so you don't have to.
I will say just like even Rachel like watching,
because I watched your and Gabby season
right before I went.
Yeah.
And no,
it was like,
I can't remember where you guys were,
but it was like in that hotel where Clayton had that conversation with both of you,
like definitely like was something that I thought about like in the last week of like my experience.
Like I was like if I get blindsided like on the off chance that like this doesn't go my way.
Like how do I like I just have to like consider it and be ready because it's happened before.
You know what I mean?
Yeah. No, it's it's crazy out here.
Wait.
What's now?
I don't know.
I mean, my podcast, I'm excited to pick that back up.
We will be listening.
Yeah, it's going to be, I think just a lot of pop culture commentary and recaps.
And I love the reader submissions.
Like, those are my favorite to talk about and discuss.
They're so interesting.
Like, I get down like a TikTok rabbit hole on those, just like listening to other
podcast on them.
So I love that part.
So, yeah, lonely friends will be Chase's solo episodes till.
the end of March and then I'll be back.
But stay tuned for the rest of it.
I don't know.
I don't know what you're going to see me in.
We'll see.
Will we see you at like anything coming up?
Like are you going to do Coachella stagecoach?
Ooh, I want to.
Are you guys going?
Yeah.
Fingers cross. I am playing on it.
It's Bieber.
It's Biebercella.
We have to.
I have no.
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And like stagecoach is still up in the air, but I definitely will be at Coachella.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Letia, this has been so amazing.
Thank you for like being so honest.
I know we've like asked you some questions you probably don't want to talk about.
But thank you so much for coming on.
And we'll be looking out for your podcast.
We're so excited to listen.
Literally.
Yeah.
We have to have you on.
So well spoken.
Oh, I would love to.
