All right, welcome back to Bachelor Happy Hour
everyone and today we have a 28
year old private wealth planner
from Atlanta. Shane, welcome
to Bachelor Happy Hour.
Thank you guys. I'm so excited to be here
with you all. This is
crazy. I just got to
say he's good looking. He's a
private wealth manager. This is like the
effect it really is it really is and he can't get away he's captive
this is the best morning I've had in months right now already Kathy
Kathy's already claiming Shane oh my goodness okay well we're gonna hop right into
everything but I need to know obviously how are you feeling there has been a lot
that has transpired in the past week I'm sure for you guys it has not been easy
but that probably comes with so many different emotions
Yeah, I mean, for us, I think, obviously we're a part of this entire process, this entire journey,
but we come maybe third, fourth, or fifth in the line of importance of what's going on right now.
The most important thing is a happy and healthy family for all parties involved right now.
And, you know, I'm praying for everybody that's involved in this situation.
I'm praying for the kids especially.
And I'm excited to, excited and look forward to seeing, you know, what more information comes about.
Yeah.
But everybody that's involved right now, I would love for, I would love for them to come out of this, grow, feel, get better.
And overall, just be happy.
Yeah.
I will say that we've talked to a few of the other guys already.
And I'm just really impressed by all of y'all's outlook and perspective on this.
Obviously, it's hard.
And like there's no sugar coating that, you know, it's like I have not been in y'all's shoes of, you know, a season,
airing as it's about to premiere. And so I could only imagine, but I'm just really impressed by
y'all's perspective on everything and being so positive because I think more importantly
than ever is that that's just what's needed. You know, I don't feel like there's any like
egos, like, you know, trying to take the forefront here. So I really admire you guys all being so
uplifting about this. Yeah. I want to second that. It's amazing. It really is amazing how you guys,
There's so many aspects of this that we don't really understand yet.
But as we said the other day, giving grace to her and understanding that it's so complicated.
And you guys are just, I'm sure, disappointed, but also in support.
Two things can be true at the same time.
Definitely, definitely.
And I think when it's something that affects the home in the way that this does, you know,
you're able to really being on the net.
work at 8 p.m. on Sunday, it doesn't matter.
Exactly.
When it's when it's such a big deal.
And I think this cast especially, everybody has such a good heart and all the boys are.
They're the best.
So I want to know how did you get on the show, Shane?
How did tell me your journey to Bachelor Nation.
It's been a long time coming, Kathy.
I, I've been talking to Bachelor Nation for like the last three or four cycles.
So, in 2020 or 2021, one of my best friends and my coworkers put in like two separate applications for me and obviously thought it was a joke. So did I. And then like everybody, I get the random phone call. I'm like, what the hell? Like who is this? Yeah. Who is this? But that was during my first year of law school and I obviously didn't want to leave school. So turned it down. Then again, came back around for and I was.
I had a girlfriend and was in my like second or third year law school.
Oh.
And then when they announced Taylor, I signed the dotted line.
And here I am.
Now I get to hang out with you two.
Oh, my God.
I just got to say, I heard that Rachel Reckia and she said this on the record that you're the hottest man to ever come through bachelor nation.
I'm screaming.
I'm just saying.
She's not with us today, obviously.
But I can't second that.
It's my lucky day.
It's my lucky day.
If you listen to, yes, if you listen to our, when we were like reviewing the cast, you guys, we were giving our little notes.
And so obviously we came across yours.
And I was like, oh, he's like, you know, perfect on paper.
Obviously, very good looking.
And then Rachel inserts probably the hottest guy in the franchise.
And I said, okay, Rachel, you're shooting your shot.
So I don't know if you caught that, but it's here.
It's here.
So do what you do with the information.
Obviously, we don't know how the season turns out.
Okay, okay, I'm back to mother roll here.
It was fun while that lasted.
Moving on.
I cannot.
I'm going to tell everybody about this.
No, you should.
I think you should.
I like to start things a little bit.
I'm changing my Instagram bio to say,
hottest guy in Masternation.
And then quote Rachel Reckia.
Exactly.
Exactly.
Okay.
No, I'm like, how do we segue from this?
Like, I don't know.
I'll see you guys later.
Yeah.
It was nice chatting.
You know Tyler Cameron.
How do you guys know each other?
That's like obviously Bachelor Nation like royalty.
So weirdly enough, my high school friend group and do you remember when he had the whole like quarantine crew thing going on?
Okay.
Yeah.
Tyler's the second hottest guy in vaccination.
Okay.
I'm skimming.
When Tyler had the whole quarantine crew thing going on, somehow my high school friend group has become friends with the quarantine crew.
Oh, wow.
My high school best friend is this girl named Kenna, they'll hear more about her in the season if it airs.
She is dating Tyler's best friend.
Okay.
And because of that, you know, before I even went on, you know, I was talking to Tyler and whatever.
and he's been nothing but supportive and helpful throughout this whole process and couldn't be
more excited about or wasn't more like couldn't have been less excited about Taylor's season was so
excited for her and everything that's going on and gave me some good advice before I left.
What was the advice? He told me not to do what he did, which was he didn't speak to Hannah for like two
weeks. Yes. Okay, wait, I'm curious. Was the best friend Matt, Matt James?
No, no.
Okay. So different best friend.
Yeah.
Okay. He was like, let's clear about that.
I don't know, Matt.
Oh, you don't? Okay.
I was like, because he wasn't, he was there during, or you don't know him, but your friend
group probably.
Yeah.
Okay.
Okay.
That makes sense.
Amazing.
So I want to know, I want to know, like I said, you're handsome private wealth manager, a lawyer.
Like, I mean, what else is there to say?
But you said that you've never met a stranger and I'm exactly.
the same. So I want to know how did you, what shape you into that kind of person? Because I find that
very interesting. I mean, when I was younger in elementary school, I would come home every single
day and have like little notes and write-ups that said I won't shut the hell up in class.
Oh. So I think it's been ever since I was born. I've just always wanted to do this. Yeah.
I don't know what it is.
I come from a parental structure that is like I have a New York City mother and a dad who's from a small dot in South Carolina that is so charming.
Like I don't know.
I don't know.
I just have like the two opposite ends of the spectrum that molded me.
And then now I love to BS and also like have great intimate, normal caring conversations with people at the same time.
I was going to say that duo will, yeah, that duo will do.
do it. New York City and then like Southern. I feel like Southern is like the charming side,
but New York like, you have to like meet people. You have to talk. You like get it.
You know, and you get it. I know you're from Georgia. Yeah. You get it. Yes. Exactly.
Yeah. And I'm from Boston, so I get it. Okay. Yeah. See, this is perfect. I'm like, I'm like
your guys as baby. Yeah. Exactly. Do you come from like a big family or like do you have like a lot of siblings?
I have two little brothers. Okay. Two little brothers are my best friends. I love those.
two little rats.
But I always get jealous of my mom because she has,
she had the like big Northeastern Italian family where like Thanksgiving is
meeting every, or seeing every single cousin and uncle all the way down to the number 30.
That's what I want.
Yeah.
Get started.
I feel like I'm a little late to the game, Kathy.
I'm 20 years old.
You have plenty of time, plenty.
Okay, tell us about your job because you obviously heard me when we started this.
I said, I need to understand what is a private world planner.
What does this mean?
So I went to law school.
I went to law school up in Boston, actually, Kathy.
I did three years up there.
Where?
I went to New England law, Boston.
Got it.
Three years there, then came back down south.
And I realized that like everything, I just want to sit and talk to people.
Like I was never going to be good at drafting documents.
I was never going to be good at writing briefs.
Honestly, being in the courtroom, I don't know.
I would like.
You don't.
Yeah.
That wouldn't have done well for me.
No.
I would have been so awkward and gross in there.
So the next best thing for me was jumping into finance.
So essentially, I'm just a glorified finance, bro, with two letters at the end of my name.
That's nice.
Yeah.
It's not the greatest thing to say out loud.
Can you give us a hot stock tip?
I mean, it's not illegal or anything.
No one's listening.
Please, Kathy.
Let us rest today.
Now I just do, I do like trust in estate planning, tax minimization,
asset protection, boring stuff.
Yeah.
It's like not that exciting.
I said protecting people's money is not a boring career.
That's especially in these trying times.
The last five years, the market for this has really been.
booming, which has been nice. And I'm obviously at the point in my career. Like, I graduated a
year and a half ago. So I know nothing. Realistically, I just sit and listen and learn. And I've had
a great experience throughout the past, what, year and a half slash three or four years throughout
all these times to really learn so many different angles and parts of the market. That's amazing.
Yeah. So fine. Okay. But on the flip side, I heard that you also have an interest in F-1.
racing? What's up? What's up with that? I don't only have an interest in F1 racing. I have a crush
on Charles Leclair. Please, this is, I actually love this. I love that. I have a crush on Charles
LeClair. Did you, do you see his wedding the other day? No. His relationship is also perfect.
Like when I look at, when I look at what I want, it's Charles LeClair. I mean, he,
First of all, I am just a, I'm a Ferrari fan in F1.
Okay.
Have you been to Austin?
Have you come to Austin?
I was like, he got, he has to get to an F1 race.
I've never been to an F1 race.
It's likely.
It'll happen.
I can hook you.
I keep seeing, I keep seeing it on TikTok.
You guys probably see it too.
That like F1 races, stage coach, coach it's all taken from our cast, which is kind of funny.
Oh, wait, I was going to ask, are you guys not going to stage coach?
No, probably not.
But I'm a Charles LeClair fanboy.
That's where it came from.
If I ever get to meet him, my knees will shake.
I'll stutter and my face will turn red.
No, it's that intense.
Okay, we got to make this.
I mean, like I said, it'll happen.
But in due time, you got to meet, you got to meet your crush.
Is this like celebrity crush?
That's so funny to me.
That's your celebrity crush.
Without giving anything away, how did it feel?
I mean, supposedly you wanted to date.
Taylor, tell us about that date.
And it went viral in real time.
What happened here?
Without giving anything away, of course.
Oh, my.
How do I talk about this?
When I got home, when I got home and I saw how viral that date was, I was appalled.
It was also crazy to be in that moment when wherever I was, every single person around was screaming for her.
Taylor. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
What did I get myself into?
Yeah.
It was so crazy.
Also, before a big moment that happened during that date, I was stuffing my face with, like, stuffing my face with sushi right before.
Oh, love that for you.
Yeah.
Sounds like a really tough day there, Shane.
Yeah, I was really going through it.
I was really going through it that day.
I played football in college, so, like, I was even that much more excited.
to be there and do whatever we did.
Yeah.
What position?
I played defensive end slash noseguard.
I weighed like 270 pounds.
I will say whenever anything went bad in my life when I lived in Boston, I would find
myself stuffing my face at bovas.
Almost like after every hard exam.
I'm like, what's bovahs?
Is that like an...
Is that in the North End?
It's in the North End.
It's in the North End.
It's a little Italian bakery.
Yeah.
There's a bunch of really good restaurants shared in the north end of Boston.
I highly recommend it if you haven't been go.
Yeah.
You'll gain 20 pounds in about 10 minutes.
Yelty.
Maybe.
Okay.
We'll have the time that, but yes.
Okay.
I want to know, I guess we talked a little bit about just like how, you know,
close the guys and you guys are as a cast.
How was that dynamic initially?
So, like, obviously you can probably tease a little bit of first night.
what was those fears coming into the house and then how did that kind of like go away yeah i felt
i was so nervous and anybody that goes through this thing understands like i sat in the car
for an hour and a half outside of the mansion before my entrance just sitting like quiet
my stomach her i wanted to get out and run away but once i got in the house once i got in the
house. It honestly felt like I was like back in college again. Yeah, exactly. It's like a big party.
It's just like a huge party. All of your like best friends, whether you're in like Greek life or play a
sport or just have like this amazing friend group, that's exactly what it felt like. And the guys,
my entrance was ridiculous. I look like an idiot. And the guys were so receptive to it. They thought
it was so much fun, which was so nice. I was like, God, they're going to roast me. But as soon as I
gotten there. They understood. They got it. Yeah. Which was so, I was so thankful to be so accepted
by some of them right when I got it. Yeah. I also think that I don't know, everybody's so much
nicer than what it may seem like. And everybody likes each other so much more, so much more cool
than what it really looks like. That's also the only question I really get. Actually,
I get too. What's Taylor, Frankie Paul like? And did you, did you actually like the guys?
Yeah. Because it's like, it's one of those things that's like, and I was telling some of the other guys,
It's like obviously you guys are all competing for like one person.
But it's like at the end of the day, only one person can walk away with her.
So it's like you hope to leave with like good friendships.
And that's like the bulk of it.
And like the most, I feel like the most one of the most important parts.
And it's sometimes such a rarity.
So when you do just have like a cast that really gets along with each other, it's like so important.
And I'm like these are going to be like your lifelong friends.
Like I'm so serious.
And I love that.
It's such a good experience.
That's across the board.
It was the same.
Our season charity, on our golden season chain, the same thing.
Some of us just really jelled and we're still really good friends to this day.
It's the, you know, it's the little gift you didn't know you were going to get when you're signed up for this whole thing.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You could find love in so many different ways through this thing.
And this is definitely a form of that.
Honestly, throughout everything that's happened to, we've only gotten closer.
Like we've only bonded.
I can imagine.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Which is interesting.
too. But I think, you know, with this cast and this group of guys, as weird as it is to say,
and as hard as this has been, I wouldn't want to go through all of this with like any other group of news.
Yeah.
Oh, that's sweet. That's super sweet.

If you're trying to keep up with everything happening on and off the court,
we've got you covered on the podcast, flagrant and funny.
You look at the top four number one seeds.
What do you think UCLA is going to do?
Break down that for me, my friend.
Obviously, Yukon is the overwhelming favorite in this tournament, but I'll be honest, I think people are kind of sleeping on Texas.
Experts are suggesting that UCLA is the number one challenger to Yukon and that right after that would be Texas.
S&C is so deep and so thick and just about everything, it really is annoying.
So it's UCLA, Texas, South Carolina, LSU, only ones that could possibly upset Yukon.
On Flagrant and Funny, we're giving our unfiltered takes on the biggest.

Hey, I'm Jay Shetty, host of the On Purpose podcast.
My latest episode is with Noah Kahn, the singer-songwriter behind the multi-platinum global
hit stick season and one of the biggest voices in music today.
Noah opens up about the pressure that followed his rapid success,
his struggles with mental health and body image,
and the fear of starting again after such a defining moment in his career.
It's easy to look at somebody and be like,
your life must be so sick.
Man, you have no clue.
Talking about the mental illness stuff,
it used to be this thing that I was ashamed of.
I'm just now trying to unwind this idea that I have to be unhealthy physically
or in pain in some emotional way in my life to create good music.
If someone says that I did a good job, I'm like, yeah, I'm good.
Someone says that I suck.
I'm like, I suck.
Getting to talk about this is not common for me.
Right now I need it more than ever.
Listen to On Purpose with Jay Chetty on the IHart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
I'm Lori Siegel, and I'm mostly human.
I go beyond the headlines with the people building our future.
This week, an interview with one of the most influential figures in Silicon Valley,
OpenAI CEO Sam Allman.
I think society is going to decide that creators of AI products
bear a tremendous amount of responsibility to products we put out in the world.
From power to parenthood.
Kids, teenagers, I think they won't need a lot of guardrails around AI.
This is such a powerful and such a new thing.
From addiction to acceleration.
The world we live in is a competitive world,
and I don't think that's going to stop,
even if you did a lot of redistribution.
We have a deep desire to excel and be competitive
and gain status and be useful to others.
And it's a multiplayer game.
What does the man who has extraordinary influence over our lives have to say about the weight of that responsibility?

Hey, I'm Nora Jones, and I love playing music with people so much that my podcast called Playing Along is back.
I sit down with musicians from all musical styles to play songs together in an intimate setting.
Every episode's a little different, but it all involves music and conversation with some of my favorite musicians.
Over the past two seasons, I've had special guests like Dave Grohl, Leveh, Mavis Staples, Remy Wolf, Jeff Tweedy, really too many to name.
And this season, I've sat down with Alessia Cara, Sarah McLaughlin, John Legend, and more.
Check out my new episode with Josh Grobin.
You related to the Phantom at that point.
Yeah, I was definitely the Phantom in that.
That's so funny.
Each day with me, each night, each morning.
Say you love me.
You know I...
So come hang out with us in the studio
and listen to playing along on the IHeart Radio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Okay, without spoiling the season,
because the audience is just there,
we're on the edge of our seats,
and that's why we're talking to you guys
and just getting to know you guys.
describe the season in one word to the best of your ability.
So like obviously the season's paused right now.
So we're hopeful.
So we want to get us, get us eager again.
Okay.
Don't look at me.
You can't take our eyes off.
I know.
I'm like, this must be good because he's taking his time.
He's trying to find a good word.
I'm trying to find a good word.
Oh, okay.
Refreshing.
Okay.
All right, Shane.
And so we are going to segue into our fun little game.
It's called Hot Seat.
So basically that is just like rapid fire prompts.
And it is just to get the audience to know your personality better.
So just answer whatever you think of, top of mind, to the best of your ability, okay?
Sounds good.
Let's do it.
Okay, perfect.
Okay.
So the first one is, how do you describe the perfect breakfast burrito and where is the world's best?

All right.
I want to know what, since I'm a big talker, what's your favorite thing to yap about?
I love conspiracy theories.
Can you give us like, well, maybe, maybe not.
Yeah.
Yeah, we'll leave it.
But I do love the topic, though.
I was like, I'm intrigued, so I want to know, but we'll save that for later.
We'll chat, charity.
We'll talk about it.
Okay.
Our last one is, we heard you just took the bar.
When did you find out if you passed?
Oh, my God.
Or you haven't found out.
No, I don't.
I don't find out until May.
Took it in February.
Amazing.
Oh, my God.
You just take the bar for Georgia?
This is a different bar.
I took a, without giving, I took a different bar exam.
Okay.
Okay.
Yeah.
Well, we're going to say all the prayers.
Like, that's exciting.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
That's amazing.
It is also nice that I get to like not think about it for a few months.
For sure.
For sure.
Yeah.
I love that.
Oh, my goodness.
Fingers crossed.
Yeah, that's huge.
Okay, before we wrap, obviously,
Bachelor Nation is so excited to get to know you guys
and listen to all these podcasts.
Is there anything that you want to, like, share with Bachelor Nation,
any, like, words of wisdom you want to leave people with
and then also drop us your social so we can keep up with you guys in the meantime.
I think Bachelor Nation is going to really be refreshed from our season
and really enjoy like a group of men who know what they want.
And they're going to get to see a different side and a different version of a lead that's not out there.
Okay. Period.
Yeah.
We'll take that.
My socials are Instagram is my first and last name, Shane underscore Parton.
Same with TikTok.
I have a baby profile picture of mine on both platforms.
Okay, very cute. Okay. Well, thank you so much for joining us. This was so lovely talking and obviously getting, yeah, a little glimpse of you and your personality. And this won't be the last that you'll be on Bachelor of the Happy Hour. We'll have to have you back when Rachel's here. So sorry, Kathy. I would love to get on here with people. I'm like, sorry, Kathy. You're going to have to put Rachel back. Listen, the only thing I can offer you is a visit to Golden Hour. You know, we'll be. Kathy, I'll do anything. I'll do anything to get some more time with you. It's fine.
You can get a two for one.
Rachel and then Kathy, you go and go in an hour.
So thank you again, Shane.
Great to meet you, Shane.
Yes.
Great to meet you, too.
Thank you guys so much.
All right, guys.
Today is April 2nd, and we are back with Rachel.
Rachel, welcome back.
I'm so happy.
I missed you so much.
So, so much.
I feel like I have missed a million things since I have last been here.
You have.
So much has happened.
The last.
I was here, Taylor was still going to be the Bachelorette that Sunday.
That's actually crazy. It's been that long. And now I feel like we just have no idea what's
happening. Everything is still so up in the air. I was away. I had a funeral. My grandpa passed away.
So it's just been a crazy time, but I'm ready to be back and to get into everything. But I did listen
to your episodes with Kathy.
And what are your thoughts?
Well, first of all, I mean, top of the episode, when Kathy kept saying this is on pause,
I didn't even know that we were on pause.
I thought this was just kind of done.
Right.
Wait, you didn't.
I didn't know.
Like, tell you to an app.
That's actually crazy.
I found out on Bachelor Happy Hour.
Well, you know what?
The greatest place to get your Bachelor news.
Hello.
I really did hear it here first.
But I thought what you said was just so amazing.
And I know we've talked a little bit off camera and off podcast about what's happening.
And I think coming from a mental health expert perspective, your take, obviously, is just so
amazing.
And I agree with everything you said.
Obviously, this is so unprecedented.
Like, it's hard to put into words how I feel because there was a challenge.
child involved. So there really is just nothing else you can say other than it's just horrible
the whole situation. And like you said, I hope to God, everyone is getting the help they need
and that this child is being protected and that she doesn't have to see any of this. That's just
immediately what I thought. But yeah, this is just such a crazy situation. No, it really is.
And the fact that I just feel like we're just, you know, it's, we're in like the waiting room.
That's what it feels like, you know, like you're, I hate to like compare it to that.
But like that's literally what this is.
It's like we're just all, you know, kind of on edge and trying to figure out, okay, like, what's next?
Like, you know, and I know obviously we've been interviewing some of the guys and that has just been.
So I think what everyone kind of wants or needs in this situation.
It's like we're anticipating things, but we don't really know what exactly to anticipate.
And so I was like, I feel like the least that we could do is like give these men.
like an opportunity to just like let let let let out let lose bent i don't know um just give them like i guess
a safe space to come and you know talk about how they're feeling with everything um and just get
to know them which has been really really exciting you missed a very very special episode rachel
which one i was going to say because i've been listening and i've loved getting to know these guys
who was your favorite i'm so okay well now that you ask christopher
was amazing. The way he speaks is so emotionally intelligent. The way he's so in tune. So in tune. And I was just so
impressed by him. And he was amazing. I also was just listening to Casey. That one just came out.
I love him. Yep, yep, yep. The way he was like about to cry talking about his past relationship and how
he wanted to better himself and all the things he's doing. Tell me about it. Like that was
That entire episode, if you go and watch, I don't even know how many like moments of my facial reactions are clipped in there.
But I'm like on the verge of tears.
I literally like after I got down to cry, I was like, oh, I need to go like just cry in the bathroom.
Because I'm like, he's just so pure, but it's like pure with like intention.
And he's like filled with so much like light.
Like he once experienced life.
I'm like, do you understand how rare that is for a man?
I'm so sorry for taking it.
Like, do you understand how rare that is?
I was about to say for a man to go through a breakup where he felt like the girl wronged him and moved on.
And he goes, the first thing I'm going to do is improve myself.
I was like, wow.
Who raised him?
I want to meet this woman.
He needs to hold a master class, not even just for Bachelor boys, because I don't think, I think they all probably will fail.
Just for men in general.
I was dying too.
And he was like, I used to watch the Bachelor.
And I thought, you know, these men have jobs.
and they're so upstanding.
I know.
I said he's so innocent.
And like he just thinks.
I'm like,
he thinks the world of everyone.
And I'm like,
I love him.
I really do.
The best.
Who else did you interview since I've been away?
Because I know they're not out yet.
All of them.
Um,
well,
yeah,
I think you had a little bit of a crush on someone.
Shane.
Who?
Oh,
I have a crush on all them.
But yes.
Jane.
I love that.
No.
Wait,
which one?
There's only one Shane.
One Shane.
Yes.
Absolutely.
Yeah.
The one that you said was the most attractive.
From Georgia.
Attractive.
Going to win or be The Bachelor.
Yes.
I remember.
Yeah.
So we had a great conversation with Shane.
Without me.
Without.
But listen.
I am a good friend and I'm always listening out, looking out.
And I said, no.
I did.
I said, Rachel Recky, I did say you were the most attractive in this franchise.
And I did.
Blush.
So I said, hold on.
we have something here?
I'm here for it.
Oh.
So, Shane, tap in if you're not.
We don't know how the season ends.
I was going to say we don't know how the season ends,
but I did see someone from Taylor's cast throwing it out there for Jesse Draper publicly.
Oh, I saw that too.
I'm so glad you brought that out because I said, what's really, like, it's like, are we not,
like, are we not exhausted yet?
I said there can't be more things happening.
There can't be more things.
And also, is this season not on pause?
How do we know? Like, I'm here for everyone getting their, you know, their second, third,
whatever chance I love. But I said, sisters going through some things right now. I said,
it's the time now. The body's not even not. It's still warm. No, I said, is she not filing for
divorce right now? Is she not dealing with that? I was like, not shooting your shot. Like,
this is crazy to me. I'm so sorry. It's crazy. I, you know, hey, I guess I get it. I'm here for
I'm interested.
I can't wait.
Have we spoken to him yet?
I really...
No, we haven't.
I'll be interested.
Yeah, I will be asking all questions.
Oh, my...
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, because that's just insane.
I don't know.
It's like so many things are happening.
It feels like a lot of people are acting as if the season isn't going to air.
Is it going to air?
Who knows?
I wish that we had something for everyone,
but this is literally just the Bachelor.
in purgatory right now and we are the gay keepers of it.
Welcome back to Bachelor in Purgatory.
What is happening?
Literally.
We're hanging on everyone.
But I think, yeah, I think we're doing our best, Rachel.
That's all we can do.
Absolutely.
Everyone's doing their very best.
All right.
Well, we caught up.
I think it's time to get this party started.
So let's bring in our first.
first guy. Today's guest that's with us is 43-year-old real estate broker from Carnell, Indiana. Welcome
Matt to Bachelor Happy Hour. Hey, thanks, guys. I appreciate it. Thanks for having me. We are so excited to chat.
Yes, we're so excited to have you here. We have so much to talk about. First of all, tell us how are you
feeling. We know there's so much happening right now. Yeah. Well, it's kind of a day-by-day thing,
right? I mean, some of these things have been unexpected, but especially when you have kids involved
and some of the complexities of what's going on. But still taking it a day of time. I hope that everyone
involved is doing okay because of those nuances with kids and everything like that. But I'm just
taking a day of time. I think everyone else is also. And still, I see it but nothing but a privilege
to have been a part of all this and to be talking to you guys. I have nothing of great things to say
about everybody involved.
I made great friends along the way.
And so for me, though, with the other,
it's just the day-by-day thing.
And here we are.
Have you and like the rest of the guys from your season,
have you guys just kind of been really leaning on each other
during this time, I would assume so?
I will say this, though.
The producers and the aftercare team
and everyone has been so great.
And we've been able to lean into them and talk to them.
And for those watching who do not know this,
there's a whole aftercare team that's been amazing.
And so that's been special.
And that's what I was talking about earlier,
full circle where it's,
it's just been so great to be a part of all this
because it's not just about Taylor and the guys,
it's about everybody else behind the scenes.
And that's been really great.
Yes, we love everyone behind the scenes.
We could not do it without them.
But we want to know some more about you.
So tell us first, how did you get into this?
How did you get on to Taylor sees it?
You know, it's funny.
It's kind of funny.
because I just got out of a relationship
and that ended on a Thursday.
And then the next Wednesday morning,
I got an email,
random email saying if you want to live,
and I was just sad enough to where I said,
oh, care, this is a scam.
I'm going to help.
I was going to say,
I would be like, am I being stamped?
Yeah, I was like, my being scam
and I'm sad enough on up and I'm here.
Oh, my goodness.
So I DM them back.
I got a response right away.
And that started the journey of the back and forth
with interviews and phone calls.
and about halfway through that process, they said, hey, you know, ABC is actually switching going to do
the Bachelorette. And so The Bachelor, would you consider being one of the guys? And I said, absolutely.
They said, well, we think that Taylor might be the person. She's in Utah. Is that okay? And I said,
well, my three last exes are from out of state. Why not out of fourth?
Wow. Did you know anything about Taylor when you heard that she was going to be the Bachelorette?
No, you know, not really. And,
I did, of course, a little bit of research, but I kept a pretty high level on purpose.
When I go and date, I always think it's important to get to that first date and get to know somebody for who they are today.
Yeah.
And not for who they are for their past.
And so I wanted to keep it high level for that reason.
And so when I showed up to the show itself, to be able to get to know her for who she was in that moment versus what everybody else was saying in the media or on Instagram or TikTok, for me, that was important.
So yeah, so that's what I came to the show with.
And I'm still glad that that's how I showed up.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Were there anything that, like, characteristics or traits that you were, like,
specifically looking for, like, obviously heading into this experience,
knowing how crazy it was going to be, but, like, keeping your heart and, you know,
expectations, I guess, still there?
In Taylor herself, you mean?
Or, like, just like what you were looking for in a partner.
Yeah.
Like.
Yeah.
That's a good question.
you know for me i'll answer it this way my kids were pretty sad when they found out that maybe i was
i was going to be leaving right and i told them well daddy's leaving because um so my parents have been
married for 50 years and amazing you know what my dad told me a long time ago was the best way you
can show your kids what love is is by showing love to your spouse or to your partner right and so
i told my kids look i'm i'm going to go for us as a unit and to go find someone
one that can fill that gap in our lives to be a part of our family and for me to be able to
show you guys what love is in real time. And so I went on the show for that reason. You know,
for some people that might sound naive, given what's come out. But of course, none of us knew about
some of those things. And it's been on there with true intentions. A lot of the guys that I got to
know well on the show showed up with the same feeling and the same intention that I did, which is
we're here for the right reasons. There's a lot of good guys on this season. And
And so we all were there, the guys that I got to know well, for the right reasons,
looking for that.
Yeah.
And so that's what I was looking for.
That's what I was hoping to find.
And yeah, so that those are some of the elements of what made it from a special experience.
That is so beautiful what you said about your parents.
And I mean, you and Taylor both were married before and have children.
So what was it like going into this experience having that?
common. Yeah. Well, we both have three. So you both have three. Oh, my goodness. Oh, my goodness.
Yeah. I think it gives you an interesting perspective on relationships in life. And for me,
I came to the show feeling like, okay, she understands what it means to have three, not just being a parent,
but also have three.
And there's a lot of logistics involved.
And, you know, you're running around to different events or school, you know,
meeting with parent, teacher parent conferences and, you know,
sporting events with them, if they're playing soccer or whatever the case might be.
And it just gives you another perspective on how, I'll tell you this.
Typically, when you're a parent, what it forces you to do is to be confront the fact that
we're all really selfish people.
And so when you have kids, it forces you to realize that and to realize how you have to be unselfish when you have kids, try to be there as a parent.
And so I was excited to be around her to be able to connect on that level of, hey, you get it.
So do I.
You know, let's explore it.
It means to navigate this crazy thing, which is being a parent.
No one gives you this manual and says, you know, this is exactly a linear way it happens.
That doesn't happen that way, right?
It's one of those things.
It's, you're figuring out as you go and, and as the, you know, she's divorced I am too,
which adds another layer to it.
And you're just trying the best you can to, to help them through it all too.
So.
Yeah.

on and off the court, we've got you covered
on the podcast, flagrant and funny.
You look at the top four
number one seeds. What do you think UCLA
is going to do? Break down that for me, my friend.
Obviously, you kind of see.
Overwhelmed favorite in this tournament, but I'll be honest, I think people are kind of sleeping on Texas.
Experts are suggesting that UCLA is the number one challenger to Yukon and that right after that would be Texas.
S&C is so deep and so thinking just about everything.
It really is annoying.
So it's UCLA, Texas, South Carolina, LSU, only ones that could possibly upset Yukon.
On Flagrant and Funny, we're giving our unfiltered takes on the biggest moments, the conversations,

Hey, I'm Jay Shetty, host of the On Purpose podcast.
My latest episode is with Noah Kahn,
the singer-songwriter behind the multi-platinum global hit
stick season and one of the biggest voices
in music today.
If someone says that I did a good job,
I'm like, yeah, I'm good.
Someone says that I suck.
I'm like, I suck.
Getting to talk about this is not common for me.
Right now, I need it more than ever.

This week, an interview with one of the most influential figures in Silicon Valley,
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.
Find out on Mostly Human.
My highest order bit is to not destroy the world with AI.

That's so funny.
each day with me, each night, each morning say you love me.
You know I...

How, if you're comfortable sharing, like, how is that dynamic with your kids,
like your partner, your previous partner and co-parent?
How is that? Yeah, no, it's, I don't mind answering this. Yeah, so my ex-wife and I have a very good
relationship now. You know, we got married very young. And so we were both 24 years old when we got
married and so. Wow. Yeah. And so I have nothing but the utmost respect for her. She's a great
mom. Our relationship now is, you know, it's about the kids. And yeah, we make it work because of that.
And, you know, I thank God, I don't have those nightmare stories. We can't be in the same room.
that person or you have to use special apps to communicate.
So we're not in that situation, thank God.
And in fact, she was very, very nice about me even going on the show.
Because I was that easy.
And so it's been good.
You know, we've learned, I've been divorced slash separated for seven years.
And so we've found a way, we found our rhythm is the best way of putting it.
I love that.
I think a lot of guys who go on the show, we've only, I think, had one other mother before.
Emily, right?
Yeah.
I think it's one thing when people are like, oh, yeah, I'm ready to be a parent,
but you went in already knowing how hard this is.
So dating outside of this, what has that been like for you?
Has that been difficult?
Well, I tell people I can fill arenas with my dating stories.
That are good.
Yeah.
Well, I tell you, it changes the perspective of how you show up in dating.
Definitely.
Sure.
Yeah.
It changes how what you're looking for.
and you can't just look for someone for you anymore.
It's about searching for them as well.
And you're not looking to replace their mom, right?
That's not a healthy thing at it.
But you're looking for someone who can come alongside you.
I look at dating as you're both in your separate lanes.
And you come together and you go together in that spirit, right?
And somebody can elevate you, bring out the best in you.
Because dating or relationships in their best way are in their health.
healthiest capacity are where we're both elevating each other to become the best versions of
ourselves, right? And so that's what I've been looking for is someone who can fill that
void where you're just searching for somebody who can be that teammate with you.
Absolutely. I mean, at the end of the day, you know, who doesn't love those images of somebody
who's those old couples who are walking with their canes. And it sounds like, but at the end of the
that's what I hope to find. And that's what life's about, I believe we were created to be
relational. And so when you have that partner that's with you that can do those things, that to
me is the most amazing part of life. And I still have an amazing hope that that person will
come along my way and that we'll be able to do that. Well, we're keeping our fingers crossed for that.
I know. You said, teammate, we heard that you were a Division I athlete. Tell us a little bit about
that. I'm ready to dive into that. I'm like, tell us more. Well, you can't tell on this camera right now,
but I am 6-8. That's so wild story because I grew up overseas in Latin America.
Spanish was actually a language. And so, oh, really? I'm not like Spanish. It's kidding, you know.
But, yeah, I wish I still had the Antonio Bandera's accent, though, you know? I was going to say,
It's you have a very like your English is like I would have never guessed.
The Midwestern accent at all.
Everything.
I know.
I miss that accent now, especially with beauty.
You know, you can bring it out, you know.
Yeah.
No, but it's funny because I grew up overseas playing baseball and soccer,
which is what Latin America is, right?
A big part of culture down there.
But I kept growing and growing and growing and all of a sudden I became six eight.
And I picked up a basketball for the first time.
when I was about 13, which is super late.
Wow.
I had a great high school coach.
And we moved to Denver when I was about 14.
And he just was an incredible coach, both in terms of developing me as a player,
but also as a young man back then with character being the biggest thing that he wanted
to develop in me.
But before I knew it, I was in the top 100 of basketball players in the country.
Wow.
22 scholarship offers, believe it or not.
Oh, my goodness.
That is insane.
Oh, my gosh.
Yeah. And so it was a special time and all of a sudden, Purdue came along and they're one of the top teams in the country. In fact, this year, preseason, they were number one heading into the season. They just got eliminated from the elite eight. But I went there because of the combination of athletics, but also just academics and how they are there as well. So it was an incredible experience and I still feel like I'm a part of the family. I can go back.
and feel a part of it and they do a great job of making you feel like you're a part of a family
that has made it a very special experience during my time there and then after.
Oh my gosh. You said you. Yeah. I did you do your announcement video at Purdue,
like in their gym? Like that's epic. Yeah, it was amazing. It was fun to go back and do that there.
Yes, for sure. I love that. Well, you sound.
I mean, you've done so many things. You've lived so many places. You seem like you have just lived so many lives. Were you the oldest guy in the house?
I was the oldest guy in the house. But, but also. How is that? That comes with wisdom. He's the older bit wiser. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
You know, it was, it was a fun dynamic for me. I mean, at times it was, you know, you're navigating, you know, what that means in terms of having that different age gap.
What I've learned, though, is that age, this sounds cliche, but it's only a number, really, right?
And a lot of those guys on the season were extremely mature and wise in their own right.
So I ended up having a lot of very deep conversations and about life, about family, about dating, regardless of our age.
And so that made for really not only fun dynamic, but also just a memorable experience.
but what I would tell you is that the age thing for me,
what it's done is it's allowed me to live more life, right?
So I've lived all over the world.
I've lived in Europe.
I worked in Asia for over a decade.
I've grew up in Latin America.
I've got kids.
I've been divorced, unfortunately.
So it's not really about wisdom,
but more about life lived.
And so giving me that kind of perspective is really what it is.
And so, yeah, so it's, but yeah, the guys were,
I got along with a lot of guys.
guys who had wisdom and maturity beyond their years really when I was there.
Amazing. Yeah, because I was going to ask. I love hearing that. I mean, thank God.
Bachelor cast with maturity and wisdom. Yes. Yeah. Yeah. Right. I was going to say, yeah,
it's sometimes so rare. Do you still keep in contact or is there anyone that you're really close with in the
house? Well, I got really close with Conrad, Shane, and I had a lot of good conversations.
Christopher and I connected because we were both dads. Rod and I had a lot of.
a lot of great conversations. But I wish I could tell you that we're all sitting here,
you know, on phone calls all the time. But at the end of the day, but I will say this,
that's the first question I get. What were the guys like, you know? Help people all the time
because it looks like, you know, you think you're showing up to some kind of gladiator ring,
you know, and you're handed swords and shields and you're like, go figure it out, right?
Right. But when I, that athlete in me kicked in the first night where you're like, all right,
you know the competitive side you know yeah yeah yeah for sure i don't know it transition very quickly to
oh my god man i think you might be my best friend you know no it's crazy so 24 hours later
you realize just how much in common you have with certain people and you spend a lot of time together
and so you you you just get to know these guys very quickly it's a very unique experience um and so
you bond for those reasons right gravitate to certain guys and you end up having an amazing
I'm with them for that reason. And so I tell people all the time, even though some of them don't
believe me when I say it, but some of these guys will probably be in my wedding one day.
Absolutely. You know, and so I look forward to that, but that's how I see those guys.
And I have nothing but respect for them. We were all chosen for a reason. We're all very
different. And but you get there, you realize, oh, these guys were all here for a reason and we're,
and that's, that's what made it amazing overall.
Yeah, yeah. We've loved.
like obviously talk to some of the guys already, but I just feel like as a whole, like as a unit and
the cast, you guys are like very mature, which is like, I mean, when I say refreshing, I'm not
just like, blow and smoke. I'm like, you guys. She means that. Like, I'm so serious about it,
which is like so impressive, but also I guess that says a lot about you guys and like why you guys
even wanted to do the show. Obviously, you know, giving Taylor her best options at, you know,
finding love. So I really do love that and kind of sense that from all of you guys.
I also think, I mean, it's crazy because when we go through this experience, it's so
rare that you get to have people that have been through the same thing. And not only were you
guys in the process of being on The Bachelor's, but you guys are the only ones that know what
happened. And there's a chance that this might just be between all of you for the like,
forever.
Yeah.
So that is really special that you guys at least have each other to lean on regardless of what happens.
Yeah.
It's well said.
And I think that's one of the reasons why we were able to bond so quickly.
It's such a unique experience.
And it's funny because the only thing I can even compare it to is when I play ball.
Here you are at this massive university.
I think Purdue has when you combine undergrad and grad 50,000 students.
right yeah and there's this unique bond that you develop with 15 guys right and it's you're the only 15
guys understand what it means to go through this experience and meanwhile you have all these people
behind the scenes coaching staff and trainers and everything kind of like what we had on the show right
everyone behind the scenes but it's like the unit that gets to be close for that period of time
and that's what this was and so you can kind of when I see guys now that play at Purdue now or that
on my team, there's this unspoken kind of camaraderie that exists because of it. And so it's almost
like this battle tested, hey, you know what this was like to go through this. And that's what this is as
well. And that's what has made it unique and special. And you always have a family with Bachelor
Nation. You guys are official. You guys are officially in. Y'all are in. Matt.
What do you say before we go, we play a little game?
Okay.
Well, I don't know what I'm agreeing to yet, but okay.
We're going to play a fun game.
It's our hot sea game.
So basically it's very similar to like just rapid fire prompts.
And it's just to get us to know your personality a little bit more.
So we only have like this goes.
No pressure.
No pressure.
Okay.
Okay.
On a scale of one to ten, how cool do your kids think you are?
Well, I have to say 10, right?
I tell people all the time.
My kids are hilarious, but as they get older, they're 12, 10, and 8 now.
And my 12-year-old thinks by the day I'm less and less funny.
But I'm still laying with my 10- and 8-year-old.
So I think, you know what?
I have the advantage of having played college sports.
And so when it comes to that kind of stuff, they think I'm cool for sure.
Yeah.
I love it.
Okay.
besides speaking Spanish, what other languages do you speak or wish you could speak?
I speak German.
Oh, wow.
So I grew up speaking Spanish, German and English.
Oh, my goodness.
Growing up.
I don't trylingual.
Yeah.
So, and I can understand about a tenth of Dutch and a tenth of Italian because I know German and Spanish.
So my talents and languages stop there.
What can't you do?
Truly, I'm like sitting down, knows all these.
these languages. You are so impressive. Oh, well, thank you. Okay. Matt, you say you're neat to a fault.
What is something that drives you insane in someone else's space? Oh, man. I am neat to a fault.
I am too, I feel it. I was like the background. I was like your apartment is stellar.
I'm kind of a perfectionist. Oh, you know, if you walk into a space and it's just kind of
if there's clothes everywhere, that kind of stuff.
There's no judgment, by the way.
It just means that, like, it's not really coming from a blaze of, like, judgment.
It's more of, like, I like my space neat.
So it clears my head.
So when I have that on the floor and everything,
it's almost like I feel like my mind is thinking about that
rather than just being in the moment.
Correct.
Before I go to bed and everything,
I just feel like I have everything picked up.
And so it's more of, like, me keeping my head clean and clear
than it is more of, like, judgment on other people.
It's more of just how I kind of like to live to keep my head clear.
So, yeah.
I could not agree more in the same way.
Can't have anything on the floor.
Like, it drives me insane.
Oh, my goodness.
Okay, well, Matt, this has been amazing.
We wish we could keep talking to you more.
But before we go, is there anything you want to tell the listeners before we have to go?
Not specifically.
I mean, I just appreciate you guys.
I appreciate this incredible experience that was being a part of.
of bachelor nation and and of course we hope this is not the last right i mean i hope
part of many other experiences with you guys but um i would just say that um yeah you know i get
i get asked a lot is everything that goes on behind the scenes real or not and what i would tell
me boys it's what i was feeling the feels you know i mean it's real it's not scripted and i just
appreciate the opportunity to be a part of something so special and to um
to be sitting here with you guys and to just be a part of something that's bigger than yourself,
right? I mean, this is what I was telling you earlier with Purdue. It's something bigger than you
and there's an honor and a privilege and a responsibility that comes with that. And I just appreciate
you guys. Well, thank you. We hope we get to see more of you. Is there anywhere we can find you
on socials for everyone who wants? Yeah. So I'm on Instagram,
Facebook, of course, as well. My TikTok is not where I'd like it to be.
be yet, but you got to get that. I know. Gotta get that up. I mean, I'm on LinkedIn a lot, but

How could this have happened in City Hall?
Somebody tell me that.
A shocking.
public murder. This is one of the most
dramatic events that really ever happened
in New York City politics.
I scream.
Get down. Get down. Those are shots.
A tragedy that's now forgotten.
And a mystery. That may or may not have been political.
