Starting point is 00:00:54 I'm Molly Lambert, and I'll be your tour guide on a wild trip through adult films. If we get paid more than the men, we call the shots. In what way is that degrading? That's us taking hold of our life. Listen to Gentle World on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hi, I'm Danny Shapiro. We were in the car, like a Rolling Stone came on, and he said, there's a line in there about your mother. And I said, what?
Starting point is 00:01:25 What I would do if I didn't feel like I was being accepted is choose an identity that other people can't have. I knew something had happened to me in the middle of the night, but I couldn't hold on to what had happened. These are just a few of the moving and important stories on my 13th season of Family Secrets. Listen to Family Secrets on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Jingle bells, jingle all the way. Yo, yo, yo, can we get Thanksgiving first? I'm hungry. What's up, y'all? It's Kadeen. and DeVal, the host of the Ellis Ever After podcast.
Starting point is 00:02:00 This holiday season, tune out the noise and tune in to Ellis Ever After. Starting point is 00:02:23 we talk oysters, plus the Miambe Chief stops by. not an oyster lover. Don't even talk to me. Ancient Athenians used to scratch names onto oyster shells to vote politicians into exile. So our word ostracize is related to the word oyster. No way. Bring back the OsterCon. Listen to Hungry for History on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome back, everybody, to Bachelor Happy Hour's Golden Hour. Thanks so much for joining us.
Starting point is 00:03:04 We're so excited to be back and talk about that show, huh, Kathy? Oh, gosh, we are. What did you think of AFR, fondly known as, after the final rose? Well, first of all, I was sad because we weren't there. We're usually there, Kathy. I know. That was, like, weird for me. Okay, it was, but I have to say, I love the fact, it's, as you always remind me,
Starting point is 00:03:27 It's all about love. And I loved that Gary was there with his new fiancée, Lanna. And I love, because he was the first golden bachelor. And I loved that Joan was their first golden bachelorette with Chalk. I loved that. And I thought it was hysterical that Chalk predicted that. They're going to get married. Yeah, they're going to get married.
Starting point is 00:03:48 Okay, but let's get into it. Okay, first one out of the gate, Cindy. First of all, she is breathtakingly gorgeous. However, I think. I think we had a little boobette sewing a little too much that dress. It was like I couldn't even look at her. I kept looking at her boobs.
Starting point is 00:04:06 Well, let me just say, I think you know, that cuts one of two ways. Either not a good look or, hey Mel, look what you're missing. That rhinestone thing coming down in between the titties. Come here and choke me.
Starting point is 00:04:23 She looked at. She did. But I got to say, I as you know Cindy lives in Austin and we are friends and I love Cindy I'm so happy for Peg and Mel let me first say that I'm so happy for them but I do think Cindy made a mistake I would not have done what she did I would I would have said gone to the suite like Mel wanted and talked to him and did all that I really think Cindy thought he would follow after her. And I don't blame her for thinking that because they had a very close relationship. So I think if it had been me, I would have done it. I would have thought, what do I have to lose? I'm in love with this man. If she is, I'm not trying to put words in Cindy's mouth.
Starting point is 00:05:11 I would have said, Mel, I made a huge mistake. And if you're happy with Peg, then you're happy with Penn. Last night, like on the show? Oh, yeah. I would have. Oh, absolutely. If I were in love. because you know what it's i hate this expression but i'm hearing it so much on bachelor these days shoot your shot that's her one and only shot now i think meg and me uh by the way can i just say i said meg and i heard it on tv last day oh i'm going to coin it i said it the other day on our podcast mel and peg meg anyway diane called for that yeah exactly i think meg is very i think they're a very happy couple but that aside i would have done it would you I definitely would have stayed till it was over.
Starting point is 00:05:59 Yes. However, she has watched the show. And if she was not getting what she needed and she wanted more commitment, she didn't want to be the one that wasn't chosen. So she took it upon herself to save face, if you will, and walk off. You don't know if you're going to be the one that's chosen. No, you don't. But she was pretty sure that he wasn't giving her what.
Starting point is 00:06:23 she wanted like she didn't say marriage but she wanted commitment and he said I don't leap a leap of faith I want it to continue yeah remember we were saying something last week Kathy that you said if he were to say okay I want to date both of you and see where it goes and my friend Kathy here was an agreement with that not on my life would I do that well again you know if I were in love the man that much. But again, I'm not in the situation. So, you know, would I've done that on national TV? I probably would have humiliated myself, quote, unquote,
Starting point is 00:06:59 because I would want him to know that's how serious I am. I screwed up. I do get that. But I will feel like she wanted to be the bigger person and shine and not be the one that wasn't chosen. So when she says, am I going to finish the game? I was in the wrong stadium. I love that
Starting point is 00:07:17 whole analogy, that sports analogy, or metaphor, I should say. But here's the thing. Mel kept saying she wanted marriage. He said it to Peg. He kept saying it she wanted marriage. She wanted an engagement. That means marriage. No, it doesn't. I know lots of people who have been engaged for 10 years. Rule of thumb, you get engaged. What happens? Somebody asked you to marry them. That's what getting engaged is. I am, listen, I'm a modern woman here. I could see be. You're so modern. You know, put a nice ring. on my hand and I can live with you. I'm what? I'm so modern. You're not mothered. I am so modern. I am.
Starting point is 00:07:58 But, um, but I honestly think, I do think Cindy wanted marriage. Don't get me wrong. But I think, and she wasn't waiting, uh, willing to wait the two years till his sons were out of the house. She said that, you know, I'm not waiting two years. So that was her choice. It was her choice. But I think had she gone to the fantasy suite, we're women, we're smart. We've been around the block a time or two. I think they could have had, I agree with Mel, they could have had those meaningful conversations that may have changed his mind and or her mind. And I'm not taking anything away from Pet, because I love Peg and Boy, did she look beautiful last night?
Starting point is 00:08:36 Yes, she certainly didn't even get there yet. But don't you think when she sat there and paused and she was tearing up after walking away, she was hoping he would come after her? and then Jesse comes to sit with Mel and he said you can go he had an opportunity to stop her so he made his choice no I just well he clearly made his choice I think that again we only see what's shown blah blah blah we don't know everything that happened but Mel I've met him once delightful man to me was very kind to me but but NFL player a lawyer oh let me repeat a man they don't like their egos being bruised never mind on national tv
Starting point is 00:09:26 so did i think in the moment he could think fast enough or deliberately enough um to go after no not at all and so i think it's so i'm telling you i'm so split down the middle i am so happy for Meg. I'm so happy for them. I think it is fabulous. I congratulated her last night. I think it's fabulous. But I also hope that it is for the, you know, for the long haul. After hearing Cindy say, he is not my person because she wanted somebody that be head over heels. And I don't blame the woman. We all want to feel love. But he is in no way, shape, or form was not ready at that moment. He wanted to continue the journey. And I don't have a problem with that. Do you? No, not at all. But she said, is it okay if you walk me out to leave? That was his moment too,
Starting point is 00:10:26 Kathy. He had several moments that he could say, no, I don't want you to leave. Wait till we go to the fantasy suite so we could talk. I think he was done. A lot with the fantasy suite. People think, oh, we're going to get laid. It's not about getting laid. It's about not having a camera on you and having an open conversation. Okay, but I'm going to call BS here for a second because Peg, everyone calls her fun, Peg, and she is fun. She's a joy. She has lots of energy.
Starting point is 00:10:57 But she also has a serious side. You heard her. Yes, she does. That's why I told you. I feel like she's like me. I'm crazy fun. So are you. But we both have a serious side.
Starting point is 00:11:06 Absolutely. All I know is what I've been told, and that's a half-truth is a whole lie. For almost a decade, the murder of an 18-year-old girl from a small town in Graves County, Kentucky, went unsolved, until a local homemaker, a journalist, and a handful of girls came forward with a story. I'm telling you, we know Quincy Kilder, we know. A story that law enforcement used to convict six people, and that got the story. The Citizen Investigator on national TV. Through sheer persistence and nerve,
Starting point is 00:11:48 this Kentucky housewife helped give justice to Jessica Curran. My name is Maggie Freeling. I'm a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, producer, and I wouldn't be here if the truth were that easy to find. I did not know her and I did not kill her, or rape or burn, or any of that other stuff that y'all said. They literally made me say that I took a match and struck and threw it on her. They made me say that I pour gas on her.
Starting point is 00:12:15 From Lava for Good, this is Graves County, a show about just how far our legal system will go in order to find someone to blame. America, y'all better work the hell up. Bad things happens to good people in small towns. Listen to Graves County in the Bone Valley feed on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:12:43 And to binge the entire season ad-free, subscribe to Lava for Good Plus on Apple Podcasts. Jenna World. Jenna Jamison, Vivid Video, and the Valley is a new podcast about the history of the adult film industry.
Starting point is 00:13:05 I'm Molly Lambert, host of Heidi World, The Heidi Fly Story, and I'll be your tour guide on a wild ride through adult films. We get paid more than the men. We call the shots.
Starting point is 00:13:17 In what way is that degrading? That's us taking hold of our life. In the 1990s, actress Jenna Jameson crossed over into mainstream culture, redefined stardom, then left it all behind. I'm a powerful woman. I think that's intimidating to a man. With a cast of hundreds of actors and comedians
Starting point is 00:13:39 playing key figures, a look at how adult films became legal in the 70s, hugely profitable in the 80s and 90s, and fell off a financial cliff in the 2000s. Listen to Geno World on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. You know the shade is always shady. It's right here. Season 6 of the podcast Reasonably Shady with Giselle Bryan and Robin Dixon is here dropping every Monday. As two of the founding members of the Real Housewives Potomac were giving you all the laughs, drama, and reality news you can handle. And you know we don't hold back.
Starting point is 00:14:17 So come be reasonable or shady with us each and every Monday. I was going through a walk in my neighborhood. Out of the blue, I see this huge sign next to somebody's house. Okay. The sign says, my neighbor is a Karen. Oh, no way. I died laughing. I'm like, I have to know, you are lying.
Starting point is 00:14:47 It's humongous, y'all. They had some time on their hands. Listen to reasonably shady from the Black Effect Podcast Network on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. It's okay not to be okay sometimes and be able to build strength and love within each other. Thanksgiving isn't just about food. It's a day for us to show up for one another. I'm Elliot Connie, host of the podcast Family Therapy,
Starting point is 00:15:14 a series where real families come together to heal and find hope. What would be a clue that would be like? I've gotten lots of text messages from him. This one's from a little bit better of a version of him. Because he's feeding himself well. It's always a concern. Like, are you eating well? He's actually an amazing cook.
Starting point is 00:15:30 There was this one time where we had neighbors and I saved their dog. And I ended up inviting them over for food. And that was like one of my proudest moments. This is Family Therapy, real families, real stories on a journey to heal together. Listen to Season 2 of Family Therapy every Wednesday on the Black Effect Podcast Network, iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm Jonathan Goldstein, and on the new season of heavyweight, I help a centenarian mend a broken heart. How can a 101-year-old woman fall in love?
Starting point is 00:16:08 And I help a man atone for an armed robbery he committed at 14 years old. And so I pointed the gun at him and said this isn't a joke. And he got down. And I remember feeling kind of a surge of like, okay, this is power. Plus, my old friend Gregor and his brother tried to solve my problems through hypnotism. We could give you a whole brand new thing where you're like super charming all the time. Being more able to look to people in the eyes. Not always hide behind a microphone.
Starting point is 00:16:38 Listen to Heavyweight on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. When Mel came to Peg's room, and he said to her, told her, Cindy had left, first of all, I thought Pegg looked so damn nervous. Uh-huh. You know, that's nervous. She was ready for him to let her go. I saw that. Yes. Whoa.
Starting point is 00:17:08 So she was nervous, but when he was there, he told her that Cindy wanted to get married. And I'm like, no, Mel, she didn't say that. And then Peg says in an interview afterwards, she said, you know, I want to get to know him better. I need a commitment. Peg said the same thing. So, you know, Peg played the, I hate saying, played the game a little better, but, you know, the cat and mouse, she was willing. to, you know, see it to the end. Here's my question for you.
Starting point is 00:17:42 If you are Peg, and you and I both know her a little bit, if you're Peg, do you feel like you're the default pick like he didn't really want you? No, but that's what the world's going to think because Cindy walked out. And I think Cindy knew what she was doing because she didn't feel 100% that that was her guy. so she'd rather walk away than not be picked. How can you say, if Cindy still loves him,
Starting point is 00:18:13 how can you say that he's not her guy? I think Cindy, I'm sorry? She said he's not my guy. Yeah, well, I said I'm 5, 10, and 110 pounds. Do you believe me? Well, why did she say it? I totally respect that woman. She chooses carefully, like I said before.
Starting point is 00:18:33 she knows exactly what she's doing and you know what it is her choice too it's not just mel's choice totally agree with that that's why i said to and mel said you have to see it to the end no you don't you can leave any time you want and he could send her home anytime but i asked you a question you didn't answer my question what i'm sorry do you think peg you said the world to see it that way i'm asking would you feel default the pick of course that's going to enter your head, of course it is. And they probably had a conversation about it, but she's mature enough to know we're good.
Starting point is 00:19:11 The world's going to say it. You know that. Well, no, I was asking what you thought. That's what I meant about a TV moment. That was done. Yeah. Well, so let me say to you, if he didn't want Pegg to feel that way. He did say that.
Starting point is 00:19:26 Right. So how did you feel? Because, you know me, I'll date two guys at a time or whatever you accused me of last week. Do you, what did you think about the ring not being an engagement ring? A ring, a promise ring of sorts to get to know you better. It's still a diamond, but he didn't propose because he's not ready. And you know what?
Starting point is 00:19:45 She wasn't either. Now they've had a few months and they're totally in love. But at that moment, that's one thing I admired about Pegg, the way she shared. She was in protect mode. She devoted her life to raising her daughter like Mel did after the divorce with his boys. And he doesn't say, I love you very freely. It takes time. And she was still in protect mode.
Starting point is 00:20:10 She likes him. She's just fun energy all the time. But that has nothing to do with her heart. You know what I mean? And when she opened up and said that, I give her credit for that. So she wasn't ready either. It's a perfect, perfect match for me. Oh, I think they're a great match.
Starting point is 00:20:29 I want everyone to hear that. they're both on the fence of getting married, moving from, like she said, you know, being 60s in your 60s, you don't have to get married right away. Oh, and look at me. That's why I just said you can have an engagement ring and be engaged for life and they can live happily ever after as an engaged couple. And that would not. Well, you just told me before an engagement ring means when you propose to somebody that means marriage. Okay. Well, I don't necessarily see it that way, but we can argue that one later. He didn't call it an engagement, right.
Starting point is 00:21:02 So I'm going to, I'm going to call, I'm going to call something here. Okay. He is a lawyer. Diane said he is practical. Analytical, yes. Practical, analytical, not emotional. So when this guy is saying that. He's more practical than emotional.
Starting point is 00:21:22 Exactly. But when he's saying she said marriage, I'm thinking to myself, if I were there, he's not hearing he's thinking that all I want is marriage and I feel badly for Cindy I would feel badly for me like no Mel you didn't hear what I said I need a commitment I need to hear that you're falling in love with me that you think you could fall in love with me not how was the date good and she said she was willing to move to California she has a daughter there she was and not even with him like to get him too crazy and I'm not talking about moving in with you. I would move to be near you. And he didn't want that either. So, you know,
Starting point is 00:22:04 I don't get it. But I will say one thing that, you know, you and I both have kids, right? And we've talked about this. If I'm ever lucky enough to find a guy, which, you know, Christmas is coming. I'm going to go sit on Santa's lap. Should that happen, our kids are very important to us. So I listened very carefully to his sons, who, by the way, are adorable and well-spoken as well. And the one's getting his baseball scholarship. I was so excited. That's really exciting.
Starting point is 00:22:33 He must be so proud of him. I'm sure he is. But when he said the son, I'm not sure which one said it, my dad wants an easy-going. I literally wrote it down. He wants an easy-going, fun person. That's what he wants.
Starting point is 00:22:52 He wants mellow, not drama. And I thought, if Peg is not mellow, so I don't know where that came from but I thought to myself easy going and fun I'm asking you Susan does easy going and fun make a good long-term partner yes easy going is a key word easy going easy going or at least adaptable I don't think easygoing one of you have to be right he's uptight he's more analytical and not emotional just say it Susan he's hey and No. And for like me in a relationship, I have to be, I'm the dreamer. I'm the Pisces. I'm the, you know, shoot straight from the hip. I don't think before I speak, although I've gotten much better. Yeah. Every relationship needs balance. Right. And I think, we've talked about this. My husband was an introvert. I'm a very slight extrovert.
Starting point is 00:23:55 and that's why our marriage worked. I think Mel, I don't know, I don't know what his Briggs-Myer-Briggs score is, but I think that he's definitely not as outgoing as peg. I think we can all take that one to the bank. What I love about it is he loves her to shine. He's that guy. You know, when your partner just loves you to stand out in the room and have fun and be crazy, he enjoys it.
Starting point is 00:24:23 So I think it's going to work. and how about how gorgeous she looked. She looked beautiful. Oh, my God. You know, people on the Internet are saying she had a facelette. People are cruel on the Internet. What, in six weeks? Yeah, exactly.
Starting point is 00:24:36 People, you cannot get a facelift in six weeks and look like that, FYI. It's called a makeup artist and she looks stunning. Her hair was beautiful. Her face is beautiful. Makeup covers, you know, changes your look. I love her curly wild hair, but I thought she looked absolutely extraordinary. last night. But wait, I have another question. Because when, when, not Jesse, when, when Mel said, and it was at the beginning and at the end, in the middle, you know, when there's a will, there's a way.
Starting point is 00:25:09 What do you think he, like to me, you and me, if there's a will, there's a way, there's a way, you and I, we're going to find the way that guy. If we have the will, if we want that man, we're going to find a way to make it work. And I think backing up to Cindy, when she said, I'll move out there, blah, blah, blah, that was her trying to find a way because she willed the relationship. She was looking for words that he couldn't give. He said, if there's a will, there's a way. He liked her a lot.
Starting point is 00:25:44 He tells her that. She needed a confirmation that you're in love with me. Okay, so I have a question. And that was not happening. This is a hard one, Susan. Are you ready? I'm going to, it's a hard question. Do you believe that someone can go from looking at Cindy and laughing and saying, you know, everything but I'm interested in you?
Starting point is 00:26:06 Because I felt, I told you this earlier, I felt like he was going to pick Cindy. Had Cindy gone, yes, they had great chemistry suite and Peg, I love you, don't be angry. I, my feeling was he was going to pick Cindy if she'd gone to the fantasy suite. So how do you rationalize? I felt all along their chemistry was strong. I used to... But let me ask my question. Five episodes he's going to pick Cindy's.
Starting point is 00:26:34 But then when he's into fun, he's into somebody entertaining him and making him live. That was peg all over. Susan, the earth is shattering. I'm agreeing with you. The question is, how do you go from loving three, women finding or he didn't use the word love but finding so much in three women that you really like to finding so much in two women you really like so much so that you can't choose you have to now months later saying i'm in love i'm in love and now i think if you were that much in love
Starting point is 00:27:13 let's produce this show last night if he is that much in love and he and he was ready to make a commitment i think you would have gotten down on one knee don't you and said let's let's let's Now, they are where they are. She's got her ring. He loves her. He said it out loud. They've had time to spend with each other. So you're saying he's not ready for marriage?
Starting point is 00:27:35 I don't think marriage is in the equation. Oh. Ever? Maybe not. Ah, okay. I'll drink to that. I mean, I'll drink to most things. It's not like she made a perfectly good point.
Starting point is 00:27:49 Do you care at our age if we have a paper saying we're married? I would do a commitment ceremony without paperwork. Right. That's you talking. I'm saying, I don't think that's what she's saying. I don't think that's what Peg's saying. She said she could see marriage with him episode before. I don't think she said anything about a commitment ceremony with no papers.
Starting point is 00:28:09 Living together and wearing the ring, but they don't live in the same state. I know, but wait a minute. You're changing. You are absolutely coming over to my side of the table now, which is you can have a ring on your hand. And you can call an engagement ring, a promise ring, a happy Valentine's ring, or Merry Christmas early, but it's still a ring. Yes. And that doesn't mean you're ever going to get married. And so I am not convinced that Cindy wasn't in the same place.
Starting point is 00:28:39 It was Cindy was so serious. Peg is not that serious. Like she has a serious side. But think about the words that she said. You know, she wants a life partner. He said relationships happen over time. I agree with him. And the two-year things.
Starting point is 00:28:56 Right. But he's not ready to propose. She wanted a proposal. He was not ready. Therefore, she should have backed it up if she was really in love with him and gave him some space. Well, I agree with that. I do agree.
Starting point is 00:29:10 That's why I said she should have gone to the fantasy suite. I agree with that. Yeah. She wants somebody to feel like he was struck by lightning. Like she needs that guy to be dropped dead in love. I know what that's like. I do. And I think maybe he could have gotten there.
Starting point is 00:29:25 Maybe he couldn't. I don't know. We'll never know. That's, you know what? That is episode two of Mel on the Golden Bachelor. Season two, Mel's going to have a redo to see how it, you know, we're going to just start where it picked up. I did admire her strength and her composure when she left.
Starting point is 00:29:43 And she paused. She was hoping so bad that he would come. And I wish he did. I really do just to talk to her even. Well, you know why? I like, I like. a romance story. I like a love story that ends where you have no...
Starting point is 00:29:58 Ah, you know, that just came to me. When I watch Hallmark movies, let's start there. When I watch Hallmark movies, you already know at the beginning. The first line, the girl moved to some town to help her grandmother out. She meets this drop dead gorgeous guy in the parking lot. And the rest of the movie is, you know, she had a fiancé in New York City, but now she's in BFE, Kansas, and she meets the guy and they fall in love. and you know at the end of the movie they're getting married and they're in love and happily
Starting point is 00:30:26 ever after that you just hit on it susan i don't have the feeling with mel that this is a i love you till the end of time you hit on it they're having so something that that comes to mind when cindy said she needed to hear i'm sorry isn't does this mean that maybe i can still horn in and maybe have a chance with now no forget it she was so glad she watched it back because being in it and seeing yourself do it are night and day. Right. That feelings, the emotions, it's crazy, you know, from watching ourselves on TV. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:04 And she needed to hear how she fits in his life. Who I'm talking about Cindy? Cindy. Cindy. Yes. And that's what I'm saying. That's when she said that line. I don't need to convince a man to love me.
Starting point is 00:31:17 100%. 100%. And she said he was looking short term and his book was a common. book her book is a as a freaking romance novel yeah i feel you cindy yeah no i get it i love cindy i get i love them both but i will say to you that is what i'm telling you in chatting with you um i've had this epiphany that is what is missing in this finale for me it's a promise ring and i i truly hope that they love each other and they move forward to whatever the relationship is but you know what i'm talking like Susan Knowles. I wanted the love story. I wanted them to for him last night to say,
Starting point is 00:31:58 you know, it's been a rough road. You know, I tossed the football into the dirt six times. Listen, Kathy, he said I love her. That's a huge step for Mel. I get it. I want. Huge. We waited you're always the whole season. Are you always the one saying the show ends? It's about to get in a proposal. Cindy even sent it. It's about a marriage proposal. I wanted Mel to stand up last night. I'm just, or get on his knees. And proposed to her.
Starting point is 00:32:27 Then I would be leaving this conversation, moving on to Taylor, Frankie Paul, saying, what a great thing. But I don't feel great about it. I don't. It's not complete to me. Oh, I'm happy. I am.
Starting point is 00:32:42 I am. I'm happy for them. That's not what I said. No, I didn't mean that you weren't happy for them. I didn't say that. were, I wish it were, it's just when the goldens, it's a different story, Kathy, the young ones, they want to get engaged and to be married and have kids and buy your first house. At our age, we don't need all that.
Starting point is 00:33:02 Well, look at Chalk and Joan. Their relationship is perfect. They are engaged. There's no wedding plans. They're taking their time. Is it perfect, though? I don't want to see a guy. It works for them.
Starting point is 00:33:14 I grant you that. But for me, I don't want to see the guy that I'm in love. with once a month. It works for them. But then again, you don't want them under your foot 24-7 either. I remember you're saying that. It'd be difficult to live with somebody again. It would, but I haven't met the guy that I'm willing to trip over his dirty socks for. You know, I haven't met him yet. But if I do, maybe I'll be in our next life. Oh, God. Well, we do it all over again. I think I...
Starting point is 00:33:44 Nonetheless, both women were very, very strikingly beautiful and well-spoken. One is happy. One, not so much. I feel my heart breaks always for the girl that doesn't get it. All I know is what I've been told, and that's a half-truth is a whole lie. For almost a decade, the murder of an 18-year-old girl. from a small town in Graves County, Kentucky, went unsolved until a local homemaker, a journalist, and a handful of girls
Starting point is 00:34:22 came forward with a story. I'm telling you, we know Quincy Kilder, we know. A story that law enforcement used to convict six people, and that got the citizen investigator on national TV. Through sheer persistence and nerve, this Kentucky housewife helped give justice to Jessica Curran. My name is Maggie Freeling. I'm a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, producer,
Starting point is 00:34:48 and I wouldn't be here if the truth were that easy to find. I did not know her and I did not kill her, or rape or burn or any of that other stuff that y'all said. They literally made me say that I took a match and struck and threw it on her. They made me say that I poured gas on her. Starting point is 00:37:36 You are lying. Humongous, y'all. They had some time on their hands. Starting point is 00:38:02 I'm Elliot Connie, host of the podcast Family Therapy, a series where real families come together to heal and find hope. What would be a clue that would be like? I've gotten lots of text messages from him. This one's from a little bit better of a version of him. Because he's feeding himself well. It's always a concern. Like, are you eating well? He's actually an amazing cook. There was this one time where we had neighbors and I saved their dog and I ended up inviting them over for food. And that was like one of my proudest moments. This is family therapy. Real families, real stories on a journey to heal together. Listen to season two of Family therapy every Wednesday on the Black Effect Podcast Network.
Starting point is 00:38:41 IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. May 24th, 1990, a pipe bomb explodes in the front seat of environmental activist Judy Barry's car. I knew it was a bomb the second that it exploded. I felt it ripped through me with just a force more powerful and terrible than anything that I could describe. In season two of RipCurrent, we ask, who tries to? tried to kill Judy Barry and why.
Starting point is 00:39:11 She received death threats before the bombing. She received more threats after the bombing. The man and woman who were heard had planned to lead a summer of militant protest against logging practices in Northern California. They were climbing trees and they were sabotaging logging equipment in the woods. The timber industry, I mean, it was the number one industry in the area, but more than it was the culture, it was the way of life. I think that this is a deliberate attempt to sabotage our movement. Episodes of Rip Current Season 2 are available now. Listen on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:39:50 Let me tell you something. Cindy, as I say, I've gotten to know her a little bit. She is a lovely, beautiful. If the men will, in fact, I sent her the other night. She won't have a problem at all. They'll be lining up at her door. I said, could you please send me? What happened to us?
Starting point is 00:40:05 Nobody was lining on our door. I asked her if she could throw her rejections in last night. Her hair was awfully long. Yes, no kidding. But I, but I, says the hairdresser, I said to Cindy, could you throw your rejects my way when you start dating? Because, you know, her rejects will still be a nine on my scale. They'll be banging on her door, man. She's going to have to fight them all.
Starting point is 00:40:28 I don't know about you, but I am ready. I mean, I truly, just to summarize, you and I both wish Meg a wonderful life together. however they see it. I am curious, though. Nobody's going to relocate. So kind of like Chuck, Chuck, excuse me, and Joan, they live in separate states.
Starting point is 00:40:52 I'm assuming that's what it's going to be like for these two. They're going to travel together. They plan to go to the Super Bowl, and she's gone to Michigan. He's gone to Vegas. By the way, go blue. Do you know my son went to the University of Michigan? Did he? when I met Mel
Starting point is 00:41:07 Oh yeah Mel asked you what Yeah and I said Go Blue and he looked at me like How the hell did you know that I said my son went to Michigan He did I think I told you
Starting point is 00:41:15 He asked me what dormy was My son's 44 years old What dorm was he in? I was like Jesus Mel I don't remember It was how many years ago Anyway How about when Peg says
Starting point is 00:41:25 I like your shoes He goes I'm a trendsetter Mel can be funny They joke about it And that that's cool I think they're going to do fine I do hope that is our wish we hope they do well we hope they are truly in love that's the wish for
Starting point is 00:41:42 everyone coming off one of these shows and my hope is that i am next on the chopping always that's always and now we get to look forward to taylor everybody that's listening we want to know what you thought let us know write us in right and so we can read it out loud i mean everybody's entitled to their opinion yeah and but can i just say like i said i've been reading online ladies gentlemen bachelor nation fans i can assure you if peg had a facelift and looks like that in six weeks i'm going to find out the name of her doctor and i'm going to i'm going to get one done myself holy but now we get to do um the next up is is taylor frankie paul and now we get back into drama but although i heard she's got some fabulous gentleman she really does you know what
Starting point is 00:42:31 She was outspoken there with Jesse just catching up about a show. And she sent somebody home, not at a rose ceremony. Good for her. You're going to answer me back. That girl's got strength. That's not what you were going to say. No, it wasn't. Kathy, before we go, what, if anything, would you change for, like, the next golden bachelor
Starting point is 00:42:56 or bachelorette show? Aside from me being the lead, and I would, I mean, it is a. about time that they brought me in. Okay. So if that doesn't happen, I actually, and you're probably going to laugh when I say this, I would like to see someone a little bit more golden. 65, Mel was golden. I would like to see if they do a golden bachelorette next. You know, Joan was what, 61 when she did it? I would like to see a woman. She was only 60, whatever. I would like to see a woman between 65 and 70 somebody that's a real golden a real goal not 23 of them maybe less and and more more dating and really have time to get to know each other and please can we
Starting point is 00:43:41 have different dates besides horses and dune buggies please can we um I mean I would keep the yachts though yeah keep the yacht and and you know let's jump out of an airplane I'd keep that oh wait and the Goldenstone don't get to do that either. But you know what I would seriously like to see? I would like to see people who are genuinely willing to get, who are ready. See, I think that was part of the problem with Mel. I'm not sure he was 100% ready to go down this path. So I would like to see someone who is genuinely ready to make a commitment, whether it is,
Starting point is 00:44:19 you know, long-term living, living with someone, not this, I'm going to stay in, New York and you're going to stay in California. I mean, that's just, I want to see the full... But it's tough, Kathy. But like you said, we have children, grandchildren. You're not just going to jump up and leave. Well, but again, there's something, Susan, between living full-time. What have I said to, if I meet Mr. Wright, and I have two children in Austin, Texas, and I have all five of my grandchildren, all five of them are here. But if I, but if I'm not, but if I'm a, you know, met the right guy and he lived in California or Lake Tahoe, I'm moving there if that's what he wants. And then you come home and see them. And I'm going to spend one week a month here in
Starting point is 00:45:03 Austin. And you know what? I'll bet I would keep my house here. I will bet you that I would see as much or more of my children coming here once a month. Oh, absolutely. So I would like You do when you live there. But I really, I would like to see, you know, people when you read online, they say, oh, I'd like to see more normal women, I think, and they say like 20 pounds overweight and not faceless and not hair extensions. I don't really care about that. I care about what is in the people, you know, what's in your heart.
Starting point is 00:45:37 What are you really looking for? I also would like to hear more of the stories, right? I think that's what that's what nation was. Yeah, the season the women didn't talk about their grandchildren. I didn't even know any of them were grandparents. I don't know that any of them are. They are. There's a couple of them, yes, because I asked.
Starting point is 00:45:54 And they had long hair. They were beautiful. They were all attractive. And to me, it geared towards a little younger. And that's not golden. And they think that's what people want, I guess. What we already have a young one. You want to do a middle age one, do a middle age one.
Starting point is 00:46:11 Right. But for goldens, it should be golden. I said that from our show. Susan, we've reached the moment where I have to tell you they're in conversation with me about being the next Golden Bachelorette. Then I'm hosting the show. And you're hosting the show, so vote for us.
Starting point is 00:46:27 No, and hopefully, you know, it's only once a year we get Goldens, but I hope it doesn't go away. I think it's fabulous for people. What is the best thing for you about the Golden Bachelor of Bachelorette. What is the best thing about, telling the world they're still alive and there's still hope absolutely that that we have a lot of life to live and it's as um as as besides you cat is there anybody else that you would like to see as
Starting point is 00:47:00 a lead from our show from this show random um i mean i think honestly i think Nancy would make a great great lead. I think she's so deserving, but I don't think she's old enough based on what I just said. I think Cindy's too young. I think these women are too young. I want somebody that has, not that they don't have personality, but somebody that's going to challenge them like you and I would. Hello. Hello. I really, I think the biggest, and I'm being serious now, I think the biggest thing that's important to me going forward is I would like to see. someone who's really over the age of 65, who's active, who's 65 or over. That's what I would like to see. And I think that, because you know what, Susan, the older we get, you and I've talked
Starting point is 00:47:56 about it, you become invisible. People don't, I want to show the world we're not invisible. We have thoughts. We have energy. We're kind. We have great stories. We still have game, baby. That's right. And we have a lot of love to give. So that's my whole thing. But anyway, this has been a blast. I love Golden's. Looking forward to the new season with the youngans. There's going to be drama. There's going to be drama.
Starting point is 00:48:22 Thank you, all of you out there that listen to us every week. We love your comments, your thoughts, all of it. We really do want to hear. Maybe you have some suggestions on who you'd like to see to be the next Golden Bachelor or Golden Bachelorette. Vote for me, as they say. Vote for me. Vote off.
