On the podcast health stuff, we are tackling all the health questions that keep you up at night.
I'm Dr. Priyankawali, a double board certified physician.
And I'm Hurricane Dabolu, a comedian and someone who once Googled,
Do I Have Scurvy at 3 a.m?
And on our show, we're talking about health in a different way,
like our episode where we look at diabetes.
In the United States, I mean, 50% of Americans are pre-diabetic.
How preventable is type 2?
Extremely. Listen to health stuff on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
And she said, Johnny, the kids didn't come home last night. Along the central Texas plains,
teens are dying, suicides that don't make sense, strange accidents, and brutal murders.
In what seems to be, a plot ripped straight out of Breaking Bad. Drugs, alcohol, trafficking of people,
There are people out there that absolutely know what happened.

Hey, everyone.
Welcome back to Bet Your Happy Hour.
I'm Joe.
And I'm Serena.
And we are back with Part 2 with Mel and Pad.
Should we get into it?
Let's get into it.
You know, I do have to say one thing, you guys, knowing Mel now in really getting to know who he's.
is and what came to me the most about his character is he doesn't have integrity he is integrity
oh that's really nice that's a great compliment that sink in no that is like because i you know
and i really respected him because he didn't go around telling all these women i love you i love you i love you i love you
i don't respect that because for me love takes time and there's value to the word love and i'm not
going to just throw it around just because I've got chemistry with you. Chemistry, okay, that's
great, but is that sustainable? I could have been attracted, and I was attracted to all of them at some
degree, but you just can't go there and just tell them, you know, like, you told me and you told her
the same thing. It's like, you know, because it gets around and then, you know, then it gets leaked
or it's on camera, then everybody else watches it. I just told the truth, in my honest feelings.
And PEG was the same way.
So that was the connection and the chemistry.
And, you know, and it worked out.
Yeah, I mean, I will say all the women we've interviewed
and even on the women tell all,
they've all spoken really highly of you, Mel,
which doesn't always happen with the lead.
So, yeah, I mean, that's a good thing.
And a few of them have come to me and said,
thank you for being just the way you were on the show
because I was honest and they weren't misled.
it's so easy to just fall into that like you said earlier what you did fall into it you can fall into
that little area that gray area like I really like you I'm falling I'm falling in love with you
it's like I don't want to go there if it's not true I just don't want to yeah you don't want
anyone to feel misled or blindsided I still wanted to make sure that she's the want right
I rush on her but I'm not in love with her right away yeah love seems to
be obviously important to you guys you want to love the person that you're with but not the most
important thing what were some of the things for each of you that you were looking for from one
another to be like okay like great like love but like I really see these qualities or I feel
this way about this person and that is bringing me confidence that you know I could see a life with
them oh my gosh the at the uh overnight that's when I really got to know him no cameras no
you know, mics, no lights, none of that stuff. And he's a chatty Kathy. Believe it or not, Bachelor
Nation, he's a chatty Kathy. And I was like, whoa, where did this come from? You know, but that's
being able to let your guard down without the cameras in your face or the mics or you've got,
you know, people around you. It's really hard, you know, to express yourself and to get in your
feels when all of this stuff is going on. So I loved his honesty. His
his directness, his integrity, you know, he's, honestly, he's got a great sense of humor. Believe it or not,
everybody, you know, it's just, it takes time to get to know somebody.
Yeah. How about you, Mal? Well, you know, I know Pegg, she colors outside the lines. And I have to
have someone like that. I have someone with tremendous amount of energy and not sometimes, like all the
time. And then when I saw that I go, that's my girl right there, that whole energy and says
what she wants. And when you look at her background, you know, it tells a lot about you too.
Someone who's sacrifice, right, and you're giving of others. She's a, you know, she's a first
responder. She was on the fire department, police department, bomb squad. I found out later she
taught, you know, with the Secret Service or the CIA or the FBI, FBI down in, you know, in like,
Huntsville, Alabama, down south. So all these qualities, I go, so there's a lot of background,
a lot of depth to her. And also, she's crazy, and I like crazy. I like crazy. I don't like
boredom. You know, I'm not a boring guy either. You know, I mean, it's not. It comes across
because I'm just answering the questions on, you know, when I'm being honest and everybody wants
for me to be crazy. I'm not crazy like that, but in the relationship, I love to have fun.
I really do. And she's the best.
person to have fun with like the best and I knew it and I knew it so that those are the qualities and
I saw those early on I go I had a crush on her so she walked out so I saw her out of the bomb
you know I saw her in her and her dress I go ask my girl right there crazy crazy is important right
serena is she's important Joe's crazy yeah and I love it peg have you have you ever had a real
close call with a bomb oh yeah so a couple of times you got off close calls man yeah I guess it's a bomb
Like you don't put the bomb squad in unless it's a close call.
Because you just don't know what you're going to get.
You're walking up on a device, you know, and you don't know what the device is.
You don't know if it's, you know, if it's inert or if it's live, you just don't know.
So, yeah, it's just, you know, I put that bomb suit on and I'm like, all right, just let's, you know, say a prayer here.
What's more nerve-wracking, the bomb suit walking into a bomb or the bomb suit walking into the mansion?
Walking into the mansion.
Yeah.
Really?
Yeah.
I'm telling you, I was so nervous by far, meeting him, meeting all the women, walking into that mansion.
I was so nervous because it was out of my comfort zone.
I've never done anything like this before.
And you're on live TV, you know, you're on TV and you're supposed to get into your fills.
And, and, you know, it's just, it's very different.
Yeah, yeah.
With a bomb, you know, worst case you die, on the bachelor, you have to watch yourself back,
look like an idiot. That's hard. That's forever. Yeah, that's forever. Very true. Peg, we touched on
you meeting Mel's boys, but what did you think of Diane, his close friend? Oh, I love Diane.
We still talk today. I just was on the phone with her a couple of days ago and just chatting with her.
She's extremely smart, extremely compassionate. And we just sat down in the interview in Antigua.
and we just, you know, we were like two chatty kathies.
We, you know, we were just talking and talking and we were talking over each other.
And I really, really like her.
And I'm really looking forward to her to spend more time with her.
I really, great person.
Mel, you said when Pegg stepped out of the limo, you instantly had a crush on her.
And I feel like you guys definitely had like a spark chemistry right off the bat.
As a viewer, it looked like you kind of really built a strong friendship as well, kind of early on.
that developed into a more romantic, deeper connection.
Can you just kind of both of you walk us through your relationship journey
and if you feel like that's accurate, how it progressed?
Well, you know, when she came out with a bomb son, I didn't see her like I told you.
But then there was a diversion because they couldn't get the bomb to blow up.
So they took me off and then they somehow got her and I wasn't really paying attention.
I go, who's this? Right.
And I go, oh, that's the, she had the bomb in her hand.
I go, I was the same girl that was in the suit.
And I was taken back.
I go, wow, I go, I, you know, boom.
I have a crush on it right there.
Then at the first, you know, the interviews or the talks, she was one of the last ones.
So the sun was coming up and I saw her.
And I go, wow, I go, that's the same person that I just met.
So it started developed there.
And then she goes, oh, yeah, I live in Vegas.
And I also come to Orange County.
And I live in Orange County.
I go, how's that even, how's that even work, right?
So then on our first group date at the Coliseum, you know,
they have people next to you the entire time where you can't leave.
Like, where are you going? Where are you going? Where are you going? Right.
They got cameras and everything. But Paul Abdul was there. So when Paul Abdul came,
everybody went to Paul Abdul, I left. Right. Their guard was down. I left. And I went
around. I played with the mascot a little bit. And then I went off and I go to Peg.
I go, hey, can I talk to you? I don't really know her. I just my second time,
talking to her. Hey, can I talk to you for a minute? So she comes out of her, you know, she's doing
a routine. She comes out and I go, hey, tell me how you live in Orange County sometimes and you live
in Vegas. I go, I live in Orange County. She goes, well, it's 50-50. I'm retired. You know, I've been
retired for 10 years. I'm like, 10 years ago, you know, you must be tired when you're like 50 years
old, you know, something like that. So I was doing the math on it. And I go, oh, okay. So then I go,
all right, that might work. You know, so then I kept on adding to the, to my,
story in my head, one thing led to another. I already had a crush on her, finding out a little bit more about her, and it just built from there. And, you know, the rest is history.
We often think we know our type in dating, tall, funny, a certain job, but the research shows we're usually not the best predictors of who will actually make us the happiest.

On Bumble, features like shared interests and prompts make it easy to notice right on someone's

Shared interests and prompts let you showcase your personality right on your profile and connect

When you treat dating as exploration, instead of sticking to a rigid type,
you open yourself up to happier, more meaningful connections.

What do you get when you mix 1950s Hollywood,
a Cuban musician with a dream,
and one of the most iconic sitcoms of all time?
You get Desi Arness, a trailblazer, a businessman, a husband, and maybe most importantly, the first Latino to break primetime wide open.
I'm Wilmer Valderama, and yes, I grew up watching him, probably just like you and millions of others.
But for me, I saw myself in his story.
From plening canary cages to this night here in New York, it's a long ways.
On the podcast starring Desi Arnaz and Wilmer Valderrama, I'll take you in a journey to Desi's life.
The moments it has overlapped with mine, how he redefined American television,
and what that man for all of us watching from the sidelines
waiting for a face like hours on screen.
This is the story of how one man's spotlight
lit the path for so many others
and how we carry his legacy today.

What up y'all? It's your boy, Kevin on stage.
I want to tell you about my new podcast called Not My Best Month,
where I talk to artists, athletes, entertainers, creators, friends,
people I admire who had massive success about their massive failures.
What did they mess up on?
What is their heartbreak?
And what did they learn from it?
I got judged horribly.
The judges were like, you're trash.
I don't know how you got on the show.
Boo, somebody had tomatoes.
I'm kidding.
But if they had tomatoes, they would have thrown the tomatoes.
Let's be honest.
We've all had those moments we'd rather forget.
We bumped our head.
We made a mistake.
The deal fell through.
We're embarrassed, we failed.
But this podcast is about that and how we made it through.
So when they sat me down, they were kind of like, we got into the small talk, and they were just like, so what do you got?
What ideas?
And I was like, oh, no.
What?

On this week's episode of the next chapter, I, D.D. Jakes get to sit down with Oprah and
a media mogul philanthropist and global trailblazer.
My life, although it may look like an anomaly,
it has only been possible because I was obedient to the calls.
This episode dies deep into how Oprah turned pain into purpose
and what it really means to evolve with everybody watching.
Every decision I have ever made has come from sitting with the spirit,
and asking God, what would you have me do first?
Whether you're rebuilding, reimagining, or just trying to hold it together, this one will speak
directly to you.
Listen to the next chapter on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your

What about you, Peg?
You know, it's just, you know, it's building for me what love means is getting that firm foundation and just I don't want to fall in love because you're going to break your face.
I just want to grow in love.
And that growing in love is sustainable.
And I said that when we were in Antigua, I said, you know, I don't want to waste another five years on something that's not going to work.
So to take that time in the very beginning of a relationship and really be conscious of are these qualities that are going to fit for me and are these qualities that are going to fit for him and a nice firm.
foundation just to, you know, just build and build on that relationship and just fall deeper in love
with each other because, you know, love does grow. It really does. It's not something that just
happens overnight. Have you guys talked at all about how you are going to make it work logistically?
Oh, hell yeah. Oh, my God. Let's hear it. Me? Let's hear it.
All right. You guys ready? I'll start. I'll start.
Ready. Thanksgiving? Hey, right. I'm a little foundation. First of all.
She lives in Vegas, right?
Okay.
She lives in Vegas.
So that's only a 45-minute plane ride.
It's up and down.
They didn't even have a service, right?
Or it's like a three and a half hour or four, you know, right, which is a good ride.
You know, it's pleasant.
So that's not-
Vegas.
I love Vegas.
I would live there.
I would live there.
You'll gamble all our money away.
No, I won't.
But, go ahead.
Somewhere in Ohio where it's completely boring, right?
Yeah.
Or, so I'm in Southern California.
it's we're here in southern california it's november it's great
Vegas it's always good right and so then so right for the immediate future we're
going to go to Vegas and then we're going to go to um michigan there's something called
hobnavo gobble you can google that it's bigger than the grammies and then we're going to go
wait what is it that's for thanksgiving we're going to be over there for thanksgiving to spend
time with his uh hob novel gobble it's hobnaub gobble you can google it's the biggest thing
ever. It's a gala. Yeah. Okay. Okay. We're all the CEOs and all the people come in. It's bigger than the Grammys. So after, after that, we go. Back to Vegas. Back to Vegas after that. Because we're going to go to the sphere. You guys, we're going to go see the winning of the balls. Yeah. We can't wait. We can't wait. A little story behind that. But his birthday is on the seventh. So I'm going to take him to a Raiders game. We're going to go to a Raiders game. And then after that, we're going to spend Christmas two or three weeks in Rio. Wait, wait, wait, wait. So we go back to Michigan to go for Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving with my friend and then we go then we go to Toronto and Montreal right just to
break it out yeah yeah just we come back for the mid you know a university of Michigan game
Ohio State game all right aren't they play aren't they playing aren't they playing in Wrigley
this this weekend of Michigan with Western oh question then following we're the following two
weeks later we play at home against Ohio State okay Ohio State which is right of
around the 29th, right?
And then a couple weeks later, we're going to Rio.
For Christmas.
For Christmas.
For Christmas.
I have friends.
One of my best friends lives in Rio.
He's been my friend for 40 years.
So we're going to go and spend it.
I go to Rio all the time.
So I go, it's a great place to spend Christmas.
And then New Year's?
It's hot there, right?
It's flipped.
So it's summer there.
So it's like 90 degrees.
Then so we spend Christmas and New Year's there.
Then we come back.
And then my friend works.
ESPN, and we're going to do the Super Bowl up in Santa Clara.
Amazing.
I mean, yeah, we just got the whole calendar.
I'm stoked for you guys.
You're going to have the best time.
Are your kids all going with you as well for Christmas?
Not invited.
Oh, they're on their own for Christmas.
Bye.
No, they're playing.
My boys play baseball.
One plays in college and one plays in high school.
So they've got their own schedule.
But we're going to go out and watch them play in Palm Springs.
and so they're going to be sort of in the next I asked me you want to go to Rio with us because
you know my wife was Brazilian so they have friends and family down there and they go no we're
busy we got stuff to do so Peg where does your where does your daughter live she's in Vegas
okay after I retired I moved to San Clemente for a couple of years and I have friends and family
in San Clemente that's 20 minutes from where he is and I've just been going back and forth there for
30 years and here's a nice thing that I need to tell you guys because you're young when you're you're
you know, you work your entire life. You've done the marriage. You've done the colleges. You've done the
kids, the dog, the house, all that stuff. So when you're in your 60s, because everybody always
ask, it's really nice being retired and being where we're at in our life, you do what you want to do
when you want to do it. There's no this or that. It's always an and. And that's what's nice
about working so hard our entire lives, right? Because you want the end. There's no this or that.
So we have their Vegas house and our own county house and we're traveling and the kids.
So it's really fun.
We just, you know, go live life, you guys.
Yeah, I have.
Yeah, I have friends all over the world.
So that I haven't seen since before COVID.
And now I'm going to get a chance to, you know, go back and visit.
And I go, Peg, you're going to love these places, you know.
And she's going to show me the same thing.
Right.
You know, she has all her friends all over the place too.
So we're going to go visit them and have fun.
What are you guys going to Toronto and Montreal for?
I'm from Toronto.
I'm in Toronto right now.
Oh.
Oh, wow.
Yeah.
You need to talk to you guys.
Yeah.
How that stuff works out?
Exactly.
This hob-nobble-gobble.
Google that.
Bigger than the Grammys.
Bigger than the Grammys.
Bigger and better than the Grammy.
Hab-Nabble-Gobble.
And that's the Friday before Thanksgiving.
So instead of going back to California or Vegas, you know, we got a night.
kill time but spend some time away i don't want to spend the entire time in michigan so i go
toronto is i'm from detroit so i go toronto from detroit so i go like a couple of
hours so we're going to go there and then spend a couple nights in toronto then take a train to
montreal i've never been to montreal you'll love it's great back by friend's house in michigan
celebrate thanksgiving there then two days later is the game
so that's why we're going that's where we're spending time in in canada
All right, well, give me your number so we can connect and we can.
Yes, I'll text you and I'll send you guys a bunch of friends.
I loved it.
Even Toronto is great.
I know.
You're going to have a great time.
Peg, what did you're going back a little bit to the show and off of scheduling.
Peg, what is, what did your daughter think when you told her it was a happy ending?
She was like, really?
Really?
Did she think you were going to get heartbroken at the end?
No, she didn't
No, they all knew that she's going to win
I go to their house and her friend
Atlanta, right?
Atlanta, shout out of Atlanta?
Atlanta, we wouldn't be here.
She goes, nothing surprises me
about Pegg, nothing.
She goes, if she came back and says, oh, I just got
finished walking on the moon, they go, okay,
yes, Peg, right?
I remember that about what they said about her.
Nothing really surprises them about her, what she does.
And I got to know that, and nothing
surprises me about her that you know she says she's going to do something she can do it and her
daughter was like oh okay it's surprising but not really you know surprising she won't but not really
of course you yeah i could see that this question is for both of you looking back on the season
what are some of your favorite or what's like maybe one favorite memory that you have together
go ahead favorite memory we have together a lot of
Okay.
When we were in the mud back.
You are a chatty Kathy, Mel.
I'm picking up on it.
I'm picking up on it.
Yeah, what the heck?
Why do they do you so dirty?
It makes it feel like you don't talk.
You have so much to say.
But you know what?
We did say that on this podcast after the tell all.
They showed some bloopers.
And we said, I feel like they're hiding Mel's personality from us.
Yeah.
And this is my B material.
It's not even my good stuff.
Wow.
What was the question again?
Tell us your favorite moment from the season with Pet.
The favorite moment was.
because they had the mud baths, right?
And there was two of them, right?
And then I don't know how they go,
well, we're going to get rid of one.
And I had just got into the cold plunge
because they did it backwards.
I was cold plunge.
Then they had the mud bath first
and then the cold plunge.
It was a cold plunge.
And I was freezing.
I go, I'm hoping this is going to be warm, right?
And it was like late in the day
because the sun was going down
and you're on top of the mountain
so it gets cold up there.
And so that was really a cool moment
because I never had a mud bath before.
and I'm in there with the girl across me
and I have a crush with.
I go, this would be good, man.
And it was warm.
It was warm.
So I don't want to come out.
It was good.
That was one of my best moments on the show.
Love that.
How about you?
Casey and the Sunshine Band.
Because all that music we grew up on
and it just took me back to being 16 years old again.
And I didn't care about the cameras or the people.
I was really just in the moment enjoying time with him
and those songs were just so.
So, you know, it just brought me right back to being a teenager again.
It was just so fun.
And just to let go of all those preconceived ideas and people are watching me and what are they going to think and all that other stuff and just being the moment.
And I think that was one of the best moments for me.
Love that.

But for me, I saw myself in his story.
From planning canary cages to this night here in New York, it's a long ways.
On the podcast starring Desi Arnaz and Wilmer Valderrama, I'll take you a
a journey to Desi's life, the moments
it has overlapped with mine, how he
redefined American television, and
what that meant for all of us watching from
the sidelines, waiting for a face
like hours on screen. This is the story
of how one man's spotlight lit
the path for so many others, and
how we carry his legacy today.

On this week's episode of
the next chapter, I, T.D. Jakes, get to sit down with Oprah Winfrey, a media mogul, philanthropist,
and global trailblazer. My life, although it may look like an anomaly, it has only been
possible because I was obedient to the calls. This episode dies deep into how Oprah turned pain
into purpose and what it really means to evolve with everybody watching. Every decision I
have ever made has come from sitting with the spirit and asking God, what would you have
me do first? Whether you're rebuilding, reimagining, or just trying to hold it together, this one
will speak directly to you. Listen to the next chapter on the I Heart Radio app, Apple Podcast,
or wherever you get your podcast, episodes drop weekly.
What up, y'all?
It's your boy, Kevin on stage.
I want to tell you about my new podcast called Not My Best Moment,
where I talk to artists, athletes, entertainers, creators, friends,
people I admire who had massive success about their massive failures.
What do they mess up on?
What is their heartbreak?
And what did they learn from it?
I got judged horribly.
The judges were like, you're trash.
I don't know how you got on the show.
Boo, somebody had tomatoes.
I'm kidding.
But if they had tomatoes, they would have thrown the tomatoes.
Let's be honest, we've all had those moments we'd rather forget.
We bumped our head, we made a mistake, the deal fell through, we're embarrassed, we
failed, but this podcast is about that and how we made it through.
So when they sat me down, they were kind of like, we got into the small talk, and they were
just like, so what do you got?
What ideas?
And I was like, oh, no, what?
Check out Not My Best Moment with me, Kevin on stage on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcast,
YouTube, or wherever you get your podcast.
Okay. We are going to play the newly happy couple game. It's who's who. You guys ready?
Got it. Okay. Who's the better cook? Mel, by far. Wow. Okay.
Who's a great cook all the time? Chef level cook. You cook, you talk. Well, Mel, what do you not do? Mel, what's your favorite? What's your, what's your best dish?
Today was eggs and bacon.
No, but your best best dish.
Well, you know, I make the best soup ever, all of them.
And it was sort of mundane like soup, but if you tasted it, you go, oh, my God.
Okay.
I like that.
I try to make soup a lot and like it's hit or miss.
And Joe knows that.
You had it?
They know it's for real.
Okay.
Who's more forgettable or forgetful?
Neither of you are forgettable.
Who is more forgettable?
I think we're both forgetful.
I'm not forgetful.
No, I'm not.
I'm not.
I'm not.
I take a point to be not forgetful.
Who has better music taste?
Oh, Mel.
Motown, baby.
Yeah, I have my playlist.
And I knew she'd like it.
Love it.
Even it's off, it's not all Motown, but a lot of Motown, but it's that genre, that style.
Love it.
And all she does is dance to it.
I go, I knew she'd love it.
Love it.
New stuff, old stuff, she loves it.
I mean, I get in the kind of.
with my dad the first thing he says is Siri play Motown um who sleeps who sleeps in more

Pegg, yeah.
Who is the funniest?
Oh, Pegg's the funniest.
I don't know.
He's pretty good to you guys.
I know you guys is hard to believe.
I just let her run with it.
I go, this is going to be so good.
He's pretty funny.
Just let her go.
He's pretty funny.
Serena, you skipped a question.
Go back.
You got to ask it.
You got to ask you.
Okay, sure.
Who's the biggest cuddler?
We both are.
Yeah.
Both.
It's crazy insane.
I like that you skip that
Who is more outgoing
We both are

You're both very outgoing
Who's the better driver
Oh I'm a better driver
I operate within the speed limits
You saw her
I was going to say though
On the on the ATV date
But you didn't see on the dune buggy
was she was asking me the whole time, let me drive.
I go, no, no, no, let me drive.
Let me drive. No, no. I didn't know.
When I saw the Doom buggy as a date, I go, in my head, I go, I bet she has one of these.
And she was like, I want to sit at home.
She had a big one, right?
And I knew it.
And she got all excited.
So let me drive.
I go, no, no, no.
Because I know if she already had it, nobody knew that.
She's going to go crazy.
Right?
So finally they go, let her drive.
I go, oh, God.
I'll be my best behavior.
First thing out of the shoot, gone, right?
I go, it took her about a.
second.

That was a great part of the day.

I got in, though.
I think, Joe, you said you weren't going to go in at all.
Yeah, I wouldn't have went in, but I probably would have went in, but I would have been similar
to you.
And I told the women who organizes the dates and go, no animals, right?
No animals.
No horses.
She put me right on a horse.
Had it been on a horse since I was like three years old, one of those little walk-around
things.
I'm on this big old horse, right?
I'm like, you know.
The minute you said don't put me on a horse,
went schedule before state that's why that that's reality TV 101 whatever they ask you you're scared
of nothing I'm not scared of anything I'll do anything but being adventurous I did it right

nerve-wracking wouldn't have done it I would not otherwise I would have said no peace out I'm on
But adventurous, you know, to fight fires and to be a police officer and a bond, that takes
it all.
I mean, adventurous, plus you're not scared of anything.
You're fearless.
Also, you both went on The Bachelor, and I think that's very adventurous.
Yeah.
