Bachelor Happy Hour - Sean’s Cruel Summer
Episode Date: October 23, 2023Today on “Bachelor Happy Hour,” Joe and Serena chat with Sean about that dramatic night in “Paradise” and so much more. Sean, or “Hot Sean” as Serena and Joe refer to him, doesn’t hold b...ack as he explains what he thought the status of his and Rachel’s relationship was, why he wanted to make a last-chance move with Jess, and why he was so surprised that Brayden, of all people, was the one to tell Rachel what he was saying about their connection. This is an I-Heart podcast.
My boyfriend's professor is way too friendly, and now I'm seriously suspicious.
Wait a minute, Sam.
Maybe her boyfriend's just looking for extra credit.
Well, Dakota, luckily, it's back to school week on the OK Storytime podcast, so we'll find out soon.
This person writes, my boyfriend's been hanging out with his young professor a lot.
He doesn't think it's a problem, but I don't trust her.
Now he's insisting we get to know each other, but I just want her gone.
Hold up. Isn't that against school policy? That seems inappropriate.
Maybe find out how it ends by listening to the OK Storytime podcast and the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
I'm Dr. Scott Barry Kaufman, host of the Psychology Podcast.
Here's a clip from an upcoming conversation about how to be a better you.
When you think about emotion regulation, you're not going to choose an adaptive strategy which is more effortful to use unless you think there's a good outcome.
Avoidance is easier.
Ignoring is easier.
Denials is easier.
Complex problem solving.
Takes effort.

hey everyone welcome to happy hour i'm joe and i'm serena and we are here with
sean from bachelor paradise who we always refer to is hot sean we do it's really stuck that
nickname has really transitioned from your past to your present sean yeah it has well thank you all for
having me, appreciate it and looking forward to talking about this episode with you.
Sean, is this your third time on Happy Hour?
I think second, second time.
We did after the tell-all, which was fun.
I don't think I'm, yeah, it's only my second time.
Yeah, so he's never been on.
You've never been on as a solo guest.
No, you guys never had me on, so.
Oh, welcome.
Happy to have you here.
Don't give us the attitude already, Sean, right?
I'm just messing with y'all.
I'm just messing with y'all.
I'm just got out here.
Why, can you, can you explain real quick, just a very, just a little breakdown of why you are Hot Sean?
Yeah, Hot Sean started when I was a intern at Barclos Sports.
I was going to college in Fordham, ended up getting hooked up with some of the guys there.
My first day, when I show up to the office, there's a group of guys that don't necessarily look like me, I guess you could say.
So Dave Elfrez was recording the rundown, and I was sitting there doing my work just going through, like, their social media accounts.
And he looks at me.
He's like, who the fuck is this kid?
What is he doing here?
And then he's like, I said it was too good looking to be there.
And then he wrote a blog about it.
And then it just stuck.
And now, thankfully, I guess it's stuck.
There are worse nicknames to have, for sure.
Yeah, I don't hate it at all.
I mean, it's a pretty good one.
It's better ugly, Sean.
ugly Sean like average looking Sean so yeah it's not bad okay so we we see you know let's you're you're in
paradise any hesitations and going to paradise were you all in right when they asked you yeah there
actually was some hesitation so when I got sent home from the bachelorette I had a miss call from
the people that were casting for paradise it was like so quick I just got in the door and my place here
in Tampa and I had just taken off a bunch of time for work so I was like you know
what? Like I need some time to decompress. Think about it. And I honestly was turned off
against it initially just because it was so quick. And it really isn't a really quick jump
from The Bachelor to Filming Paradise. And then the more I thought about it and thought more about
the time I had on The Bachelor, I had the people I met. Like I really did have a great experience,
had so much fun. So I was like, you know what? Let's go back for round two. Let's do it. So after a
deep thought wasn't too bad. And you quit your job. Correct?
I would say let go.
So there's a story that I wish made The Bachelorette where we're in New Orleans.
And I had to get a phone call from anybody at all.
And I get pulled into a room and there's a phone there and I take this phone call to my work.
They're like, hey, if you don't come back to work on Monday, you're fired.
And it was just before hometowns, I was kind of deep into it.
So I was like, oh, my God, this is crazy.
But I kind of pulled like a Jordan Bellfort moment where I was like, I'm not fucking leaving.
So then I ended up getting sent home right after that and then went to work on Monday.
So I got back to Tamp on a Sunday, showed up to the office on Monday, no time to decompress.
So then I went back.
I was like, hey, you know, I want to go do Paradise.
And they're like, absolutely not.
So I was like, all right, well, I guess it's not going to work out for us then.
And what do you do?
I'm in sales.
I used to sell payroll and HR software.
And now I work for a tax-visory firm in their sales team.
Okay.
So you got another job.
I did.
I did get another job.
Yeah, we're good.
That's good.
That's good to hear.
So going into Paradise, who are you the most interested?
Who are you looking forward to seeing?
Yeah, going into Paradise, I was definitely looking forward to meeting Jess.
Oh, shocker.
Yeah, really.
Sorry.
I couldn't let that one slide.
Yeah, no worries.
Did you think the Swifty line was going to work?
And are you really a Swifty?
I need to know who I pissed off in the Kairan department
because I actually am a Swifty.
I love Taylor Swift.
I, that was the first show I went to when I get back to The Bachelor
like two days after filming, went to Taylor Swift Show in Tampa.
So I'm a little pissed off when they were calling me out for not being a Swifty.
I don't necessarily know if that was going to work,
but I think she had just gone to a Taylor Swift show, as did I.
It was just something that we had in common.
I also met Kat before, not in person, but she lived in Tampa
at the time, and we had some mutual friends.
So I kind of connected with her afterwards.
And she helped me out quite a bit actually leaving The Bachelor
because it is, it's tough to adjust back to a normal life
for a little bit afterwards.
So she was really, really helpful in that aspect.
But those were really the only two people I even knew.
But yeah, I was excited to see Jess, long story short.
So we see you, you know, kind of hit on Jess a little bit,
but you end up having a connection with Rachel.
Were you expecting to see her down there?
Was that a surprise to you?
definitely a shock to see Rachel on the beach, obviously being a bachelorette.
There's only been, I think, one before that that's going down to paradise.
So definitely a shock.
So I think I had it in my mind where it's like, oh, like, Jess is going to be there.
I'm excited to see here.
And then Rachel was definitely a pleasant surprise.
Okay.
So let's not, we're not going to talk yet about this week's episode.
Okay.
What is your, up until this week, what is your relationship with Rachel?
Is there anything's going on or is it really just more of a friendship?
Yeah, because all we've seen, like, we saw you guys make it out a little in the pool,
definitely hanging out.
You're getting listed as, you know, one of the couples on the beach.
But we do see after the truth circle where you say you were kind of interested in exploring with Jess.
You and Rachel have a conversation where she's kind of like, yeah, like, go for it, whatever.
And you guys are, you're kind of like, okay, we're on the same page.
Like there's kind of an acknowledgement that maybe things aren't that serious.
but we'd love to hear from your perspective.
Yeah, I think we're on the same page.
She was great.
Rachel is so cool.
She's very chill, definitely different than what I expected.
But yeah, I think it was one of those things for me in particular.
Like, Rachel was really great.
I enjoyed spending time with her, but just in the back of my mind, there was always that.
Like, I had a great conversation with Jess the first day we were there.
So it was always like, I feel great about both of these people, but I'm hanging out with Rachel.
Jess was with Blake at the time, and no one was really stepping on toes.
always that thing in the back of my mind when it's like I like should have
explored this a little bit further because I don't want to get down to the end and like have any
regrets or any thoughts about why didn't I kind of take that opportunity I guess
so it was tough for me because I was kind of in half in half out with Rachel which is not
fair to her but I just couldn't get it out of my head for whatever reason
do you think if you would have been all in on Rachel she would have been all in
yeah I don't know I don't know I think we were definitely taking it slow
remembering what it was like in the beach at first.
I think maybe if I had put a little bit more effort and attention to that relationship,
it would have been great to kind of see where it went.
But I don't know.
Who knows?
What stopped you from pursuing Jess more heavily in the beginning?
Yeah, because you just said something that we talked about in our recap,
that it does seem like this year people don't want to step on other people's toes.
Like, no, everyone's playing.
Yeah, I don't know if, like, we could be totally off here,
but really it feels like there's this like mutual agreement
or unspoken thing going on the beach
where like no one wants to step on anyone's toes, really.
But we could be totally off.
No, I think you guys are spot on.
I think from day one, it was one of those things
that after the first night,
there was no one really flip-flopping their connections
or even trying to flip-flop.
So that made it a little bit uncomfortable for me
where I was like, I really do want to, like, talk to Jess more,
but no one is doing this.
Do I want to be the guy that steps on people's toes and, like, tries to do it?
So that was a struggle for me when we were filming was like, man, like,
no one's flip-flop.
I mean, I wanted someone to just go and, like, try to flip-flop real quick,
so I'd have an open door, but it didn't happen that way.
Yeah, I feel like the only person that kind of flip-flop was Aaron B,
but he did it, like, so fast, like, beginning of day two
that it was like, it almost doesn't count.
You know what I mean?
I didn't even know that Aaron B and Mercedes had that that conversation the first night.
So I didn't even know that he flip-lopped until I was watching it back.
But it was very early on.
Yeah, so fast, so early.
Okay, so then we see you go make another move at Jess.
But what is Blake and Jess's relationship like before you do that?
Like, where are they?
Yeah, I think that's why I wanted to have that conversation.
I think they were, I don't know, it's felt like they were on the same page,
like they're still open to exploring new things.
I think Jess had mentioned that at the bonfire, Blake did.
I think at that stage, when we were in Paradise, people were still open.
So I was just going to check in, I guess, on where they're at.
But they were great.
There was never any problems between them.
They seemed like they were happy and having fun.
So, yeah.
So would you, or like with the people on the beach,
consider them one of the stronger couples at this point?
or are people, like, uncertain of where they stand?
Because I know it's kind of that time in paradise
where it's like people are deciding
if they're going to keep exploring,
if they're going to be exclusive.
Like, I feel like we're kind of in that window in this episode.
Yeah, I, um, I, so just fast forward into the truth box real quick.
I, people, I guess, were doubting the relationship.
Like, I was, I didn't put anything in that thing.
But I guess people were talking about how it's just very safe.
Like, they weren't really, I guess.
guess that into each other, which I don't know, you have to ask them. But I think people had in their
mind that they weren't as serious as they may have been showing. It's my knowledge. But you had to feel
that a little bit for you to go take a shot. Yeah, like, I feel like if they were super strong,
you would have been like, there's just no chance there, right? Yeah, I guess I was a little
question to the way. Like, I don't even care. I mean, like, honestly, I was just shoot my shot at that
point, I guess. But yeah, I think that I must have felt something the moment that they might
not be as strong as people think. Yeah, it was one of those things where, you know, I just took my
shot. That was great. I mean, listen, you got to take your shots. We were saying, Sean, we feel
like you're the kind of guy that's like, you don't want a gray answer. Like, you want a yes or no.
And if you're not sure if she's into, like, when it comes to like, if someone's like into or
interested or not.
Like, and I feel like you kind of threw it out there at the true circle and like you
didn't get like a hard yes, hard no.
And I feel like you were like looking in that conversation like, do I have a chance
with you or not?
I think that makes it easier just in relationships in general when it's pretty clear.
But yeah, I would love to know like where I stand with people.
Obviously we found out, I guess, where I stood with her.
I wish she would have told me a little bit clearer.
How do you feel like the combo wet?
Like at the end where you like, okay,
I'm glad I had that moving on.
Like, what was your feeling leaving the conversation?
I remember feeling leaving the conversation, like, what the fuck did we just talk about, honestly?
But I think it gave me clarity one way.
It wasn't necessarily with her words, but more with just like the feeling I had leaving there.
So it was a helpful conversation for me.
I don't know if we accomplished much, to be honest with you.
I don't know.
But, yeah, I mean, essentially it leads to your demise.
because then we see everything that goes on with Rachel.
So was that getting that clarity worth it?
Or do you kind of wish you just want to just wait it?
I mean, I think for me, truthfully,
it was one of those things I had to figure that out.
Like I had to go in and have that conversation.
And at the end of the day,
if me and Rachel weren't going to make it past that,
we probably wouldn't have lasted
and may have found some different people the next week.
It was never for me.
Like, I truly did want to find somebody.
So, like, going into that conversation was very, very helpful.
Like, hey, like, what are my options here?
Who do I like?
Who am I biding with?
And it was giving me clarity one way or the other.
But obviously, I guess that conversation was the catalyst to mine and Rachel's demise.
Yeah.
My boyfriend's professor is way too friendly, and now I'm seriously suspicious.
Well, wait a minute, Sam.
Maybe her boyfriend's just looking for extra credit.
Well, Dakota, it's back to school week on the OK Storytime podcast, so we'll find out soon.
This person writes, my boyfriend has been hanging out with his young professor a lot.
He doesn't think it's a problem, but I don't trust her.
Now, he's insisting we get to know each other, but I just want her gone.
Now, hold up.
Isn't that against school policy?
That sounds totally inappropriate.
Well, according to this person, this is her boyfriend's former professor and they're the same age.
And it's even more likely that they're cheating.
He insists there's nothing between them.
I mean, do you believe him?
Well, he's certainly trying to get this person to believe him because he now wants them both to meet.
So, do we find out if this person's boyfriend really cheated with his professor or not?

Here's a clip from an upcoming conversation about exploring human potential.
I was going to schools to try to teach kids these skills, and I get eye rolling from teachers or I get
students who would be like it's easier to punch someone in the face when you think about emotion
regulation like you're not going to choose an adapted strategy which is more effortful to use
unless you think there's a good outcome as a result of it if it's going to be beneficial to you
because it's easy to say like go you go blank yourself right it's easy it's easy to just drink the
extra beer it's easy to ignore to suppress seeing a colleague who's bothering you and just like
walk the other way avoidance is easier ignoring is easier denial is easier
drinking is easier, yelling, screaming is easy, complex problem solving, meditating, you know, takes effort.

Conservative podcasts can have a major political impact, but the Myceles Brothers,
three siblings with a serious media strategy are building an alternative to that.
On the latest episode of Next Question with Katie Couric,
I sat down with the brothers behind the Midas Touch Network
to talk about how they built a progressive media powerhouse from the ground up,
why audience interaction is the key to political influence
and what it takes to fight disinformation at scale, one download at a time.
We should be focusing on the issues and actually occupy
a lot of the mental space in Americans' minds
but are filled with conspiracies
and we should fill it with the truth and solutions.
Listen to next question with me,
Katie Couric on the IHeart Radio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Well, let's talk about that a little bit.
So you're chatting with Jess
and we see Braden go over to Rachel on the beach
and he's kind of trying to suss out,
how serious the relationship is with you and her,
if he's got a chance,
if there's an opening.
I feel like you kind of hit the domino effect
of people now jumping ship.
Like, you've opened that door.
You did.
You're the first person that did it.
You started this train ride.
So,
Braden's now like, hmm,
Sean's taking his shot.
I'm going to take mine.
And I don't know if he was like,
if it was his move to bring this up
or if he was genuinely just trying to figure it out.
But he basically says that you have been portraying it,
that Rachel's really into you and you're not sure.
That's what Brayden tells her.
And that leads to a superheated conversation between you and Rachel.
Heated on her end where she's like, hey, what the hell is going on?
Can you just kind of walk us through what happened there?
Yeah.
It was confusing.
Like that whole thing was really confusing.
Because I had talked to Rachel previously before going to Jess,
because they, hey, I want to have this conversation.
Like, I had a great conversation with her earlier on.
I just want to see where things at.
And we had already talked about we're pretty open with that.
And she was so understanding, she was great.
So then I come back from that conversation and have the conversation with Rachel.
So I was like, wait, you just told me like, hey, go have that conversation.
And now you're mad at me.
I'm a little bit confused.
I had no idea at that point that Brayden had kind of led that catalyst in there.
So I'm like, all right, like, what did Braden say?
Why is he portraying it like that?
Because I remember talking to Brayden.
And at this point, right, like, me and Brayden didn't necessarily get along on The Bachelorette.
But we were friends in Paradise.
And, like, I really enjoyed spending time with him.
And there was definitely a change in my opinion of him.
And I remember sitting at night in the palapas with him and Aaron S.
And, like, we were close, right?
And I remember talking about, like, hey, like, I really like hanging out with Rachel.
Like, but there's something that's just, like, holding me back from fully committing.
So that's kind of how I was portraying it.
And that's not necessarily that it was like, oh, my God.
Rachel's way more into me than I am with her and like I just want to stay here.
It was more so that I was like, I need to figure this out from my own internal perspective
to figure out if I'm going to move on with Rachel or like figure out things with Jess.
So to come back and kind of see Braden like put it in a negative light, it was definitely,
I felt a little betrayed, felt a little hurt.
It sucked.
Like that night in paradise, fuck it sucked, man.
Like it was, it was not good.
No, that, that, yeah.
Yeah, that's fair.
Yeah, it looks like it sucked, to be honest.
So you pull Braden to the side and you guys have a conversation.
And he didn't really hide it.
He basically told you I said this, right?
Yeah.
And how, and then what was the conversation after that?
Do you guys just like, we're not cool?
Are you like, okay, like we're still friends?
Like, what's the deal?
Yeah, I think.
So thinking back to that night, I remember like having to do all those interviews right.
And I was pissed.
Like, I was just furious.
I felt like I had, I've been betrayed a little bit by a guy who I was, like, just
there for, like, really helping him out through the situation with Kat.
And, like, we had mended our relationship.
And I was really enjoying spending time with him to then, like, do you, do you also to, sorry
to cut you off, do you feel that Kat played Braden?
I don't think Kat played Braden.
And, like, I think Kat is actually a really good person.
I don't, I think she played Brayden.
I think that she was doing Paradise.
She was going in, had a relationship of Flynn with Braden,
like felt great about it at the time,
went on a great day with Tanner.
And like she was upfront and honest with Braden
throughout the entirety of the thing.
So I don't think she necessarily played them.
I think that people definitely thought that Cat played Braden.
And from the outside looking in,
100% you can make that assumption.
Me personally, I don't think Cat played Braden.
Okay.
All right.
Keep going on.
What was the, what do we ask?
We're on Braden.
We're the braiding.
Yeah, where are you and Braden and I right now? Yeah. Yeah. So I remember just feeling betrayed and I went and after having all these interviews, which the one thing for people that watch this show, when you're getting pulled to do interviews in the middle of stuff like that, like it's super frustrating because you're like, I just, I truly just wanted to figure out what the fuck was going on. Like I had no idea. Like my entire world on paradise has just been shifted upside down. It matter of like, you're crumbling and you're getting pulled left and right to do interviews and now you can't even fit.
what you kind of started and everything's falling apart.
Yeah, and I still never knew what Brayden said to Rachel.
So the entire time, I'm like, what the fuck is this guy saying?
Like, I have no idea.
The whole thing is crazy.
At this point, do you just think that Rachel is mad at you for talking to Jess?
Are you kind of putting the pieces together?
It was more so at first, like, when we first had the conversation, I was like,
you're mad at me for talking to Jess.
Like, I told you I was going to go talk to her.
Like, I was very confused.
And then she said that like, Braden was saying this.
And I was like, oh, my God, Jesus, here we go.
So then I was like, what is Braden saying?
Because I truly had no idea.
So then I pulled Braden and I'm like, dude, like, well, it's going on.
Because before that, he was just like, I'm done with Paradise.
Like, I liked Kat.
Like, we're done.
Like, I'm going to go home with this road ceremony.
It would be good.
Like, no, man, like figure it out.
Stay.
Like, we want you here.
Like, all the guys want you here.
Like, don't quit yet.
Little did I know that.
Yeah, little than I know that that was going to find a demise.
You didn't do the math.
all right you do not sit back and do the math and who is there and who's not there yeah so i wish
that in in my mind i was like i like if you're not going to quit go after like someone else's girl
like not not one of the boys from uh from charity seasons like go after peters or something like that
not uh not mine or arnesses or anyone else's but i was just trying to get some clarity from brayden
and like he he wasn't denying it or like defending it anyways like dude i'm sorry like i
I fucked you over.
And, like, he felt bad about it.
Like, afterwards, like, seeing my reaction.
I was like, man, like, we're boys.
Like, why would you do that to me?
Like, in any way, like, I'm kind of a ride or die friend in a way.
So, like, I'm never going to put any of my guys in a position that's going to get them
into trouble with definitely a member, definitely within paradise or even outside of it.
Like, I'm going to protect my guys.
So it hurt.
And he admitted, he's like, hey, man, I fucked you.
So after that, there's nothing I can do.
Like, what am I just going to harp on it and, like, just get, be more upset with them.
I was like, I mean, like, we're good now.
He came up, gave me a hug the next morning.
It was like, ah, it just sucks.
Like, it sucked.
Yeah.
And then you're kind of, and at that point, you're just like, Rachel, me and you
and Rachel are done at this point.
Like, there's no saving that.
Yeah, I, I don't think there was any saving that in that moment.
I think there was almost, right?
So before the truth box, like, we didn't have time during the day.
So I was going to go talk to her and try to smooth things over and just see what
things are at. Did I think me and Rachel are going to last outside of Paradise after that
conversation? Absolutely not. But like, hey, like maybe someone was coming down those steps to
maybe throw me a lifeline or maybe I found someone else. So who knows? I didn't want to leave.
Like one thing was when you're in it, like I really did want to stay. So I was going to smooth things
over and then obviously the truth box happened. And I was like, all right, well, I'm definitely not
getting Rachel's rose. So figure it out here. Yeah, let's talk about the truth box a little bit.
So Aaron S.
smashes the box and you guys read everything inside.
Obviously what we see mostly is
Braden, I guess put a bunch of
Braden and Rachel should make out notes in there
which was kind of funny and a good move.
But what else?
Can you give us anything else?
Actually, I do want to ask you something.
We did see someone wrote,
what was it, wrote,
I don't think that Kat has Jess's best interest
or something along the lines of like,
I don't think Kat is helping Jess in the way she thinks she is.
Something like that.
And I feel like we never really got full context onto what that was about.
Can you give us a little insight?
Yeah, I will say.
I'm going to call it the entire cast here in the truth box.
As soon as I think I put on the bar, everyone was running writing down notes.
And I'm like, you guys just can't say this.
Like, just say it's out loud.
Like, that's how you feel.
And I will say, I didn't write anything about anyone other than that Wells should probably stop pouring half shots of tequila.
that's the one thing I put in there.
I'm reading God for that one.
Oh my God, Jesus.
Yeah, so I was, that was the only thing I wrote.
I'm also the type of person where, like, if I have an opinion one way or the other,
like, I'll tell you.
Like, I didn't have an opinion on anything other than that.
Like, if I was going to have a problem with, like, Kat playing Jess or anything like that,
I would have just told Kat like, hey, you're probably being a shitty friend.
But I don't think she was.
Like, I truly don't think she was being mean or not doing.
Jess any favors by it by any way and then all the relationships like
Kylie and Avan and Blake and Jess and like cat playing braided I was like you guys could
just said that to people like you don't have to write it down on a note and then be
anonymous with it like just be out front well everyone's I mean it does honestly everyone's
playing it safe that's that that that has been the issue but now we're starting to see all
that crumble yeah we've got the truth circle we've got the truth box you guys really need like
a game to facilitate things to go on I guess so I want you to answer the
is honestly.
Okay.
If you were on,
if you were one of the guys on Rachel's season,
how far you think you would have went?
Oh, Joe.
Well, he had a connection with her in paradise.
And Bachelorette's a little different.
You've experienced it.
You've experienced with charity.
You think you would have went further with Rachel
than with charity than you did with charity?
I don't think so.
I don't think so.
I think, I think Rachel, like, Tyler Norris was there,
Avin was there.
Yeah, I honestly, I'm so grateful that I was on charity season.
Like, truly, like, the whole, it was, like, the best experience.
The guys were amazing.
She was awesome.
It would be tough for me to go back and put myself into, like, Rachel and Gabby season,
like, the two bachelor read, so I was very grateful.
I have no, I think I was where I was supposed to be within charity season.
I don't think I would have made it any further.
Probably about the same spot, maybe.
Who knows?
Okay.
Okay.
Okay.
Okay.
Back to my question, because I still want to know.
because I want the tea.
What did they mean by Kat?
Is it being a good friend to Jess?
So I guess that Tanner was high on Jess's list going into Paradise.
But Tanner was also high in Kat's list.
So, you know, when Tanner asked Canada a date,
what do people expect her not to go on that date if she wanted to meet Tanner?
And I think that they had talked about that previously.
I'm sure they had to.
They're really close.
So I don't know.
people just like to get into other people's friendships, I guess, and, like, say stuff.
But I think Kat and Jess are great.
I think they're still friends.
Yeah, I feel like that probably didn't hurt their friendship in anyway.
She's supposed to do anyways because at the end of the day, Tanner talked to both of them and he chose Kat.
Yeah, 100%.
So what you would say, no, no, take Jess, even though I still like you.
Like, it was just, that's just a complicated situation.
It would have been so stupid for Katnots except that date.
And also, Tanner spoke, like you said, Tanner spoke to both of them.
And he chose Kat.
Yeah, he obviously had a interconnection with her.
I was just going to say,
is there anything else from the truth box
that we didn't see?
I think they hit the nail on the head,
but I wrote the, well,
she stopped pouring half shots of tequila.
Okay.
I get credit for that.
And that was the only thing
that I put in that truth box.
We will set the record straight.
We will set the record straight.
My boyfriend's professor is way too friendly,
and now I'm seriously suspicious.
Oh, wait a minute, Sam.
Maybe her boyfriend's just looking for
extra credit. Well, Dakota, it's back to school week on the OK Storytime podcast, so we'll find out soon.
This person writes, my boyfriend has been hanging out with his young professor a lot.
He doesn't think it's a problem, but I don't trust her. Now, he's insisting we get to know
each other, but I just want her gone. Now, hold up. Isn't that against school policy? That
sounds totally inappropriate. Well, according to this person, this is her boyfriend's former
professor and they're the same age. And it's even more likely that they're cheating. He insists
there's nothing between them. I mean, do you believe him? Well, he's certainly trying to get this
to believe him because he now wants them both to meet.
So do we find out if this person's boyfriend really cheated with his professor or not?

Hi, it's Jemisbeg, host of the Psychology of your 20s.
Remember when you used to have Science Week at school?
Well, if you loved that, how would you feel about a full psychology month?
This September, the Psychology of your 20s, we're breaking down.
the interesting ways psychology applies to real life, like how our pets actually change our brain
chemistry, the psychology of office politics, whether happiness is even a real emotion,
and my favorite episode, why do we all secretly crave external validation?
It's so interesting to me that we are so quick to believe others' judgments of us and
not our own.
I found a study that said, not being liked actually creates similar levels of pain as physical
pain. Like, no wonder we care so much. So the secret is, if you want to be okay with not being
liked, you have to know why your brain craves it in the first place. Learn more about the
psychology of external validation, everyday life, and of course, your 20s. This September,
listen to the psychology of your 20s on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get,
your podcasts. So in the last month, the Midas Touch Network beat Rogan, Tucker Carlson,
Candice Owens, Charlie Kirk, and Ben Shapiro all combined.
Conservative podcasts can have a major political impact,
but the Myceles Brothers, three siblings with a serious media strategy,
are building an alternative to that.
On the latest episode of Next Question with Katie Couric,
I sat down with the brothers behind the Midas Touch Network
to talk about how they built a progressive media powerhouse from the ground up,
why audience interaction is the key to political influence,
and what it takes to fight disinformation at scale, one download at a time.
We should be focusing on the issues that actually occupy a lot of the mental space in Americans' minds
but are filled with conspiracies, and we should fill it with the truth and solutions.
Listen to next question with me, Katie Couric on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts,
or wherever you get your podcasts.
so now we see we basically see you and erin s sitting around kind of like we're fucked
and you you're vocalizing that you don't want to go home and again you're in this now
um is there any girl within bachelor nation that you're hoping comes down that you think
you may have a chance with yeah um i would say at that point just
like knowing girls from past seasons.
I would say I was probably hoping Dhabia came down.
Literally, I think in the moment, I was just like, anybody.
Just like, let's figure it out.
Like, just need something.
I was so defeated.
I remember, like, that night.
And by the way, I didn't sleep the night before, like, at all.
Like, that shit with Braden happened at, like, three in the morning.
And then you got to do interviews afterwards.
And I went to bed and I was like, I can't sleep.
My mind is racing.
So I went out and I just chilled on the beach.
watch the sunrise. I didn't know we had security on the beach at night. So I come out of the
Palapas. I'm like walking downstairs. And then I just get hit in the face with flashlights
and he's speaking Spanish to me. And I'm like, oh my God, am I about to get tased or something?
I was like, no, no, no, I'm on the cast. I'm on the cast. He was like, okay. And then we just
sat there. I didn't know what to say to him because I couldn't speak Spanish. So we're sitting
there on the daybed. And I'm just like looking at him. He's looking over at me. We didn't
talk. We just sat there for like 30 minutes. And I was like, all right, here we go.
it's actually so funny
I didn't know we had security at night time either
yeah
I've had my run-ins with security
really? Oh my gosh
yeah we're protected down there
nice
yeah so I mean it kind of looks like that's it
are you and Aaron
us basically just like yeah we're making peace with it
we're going home and what is
oh what's the deal
with John B and Aaron
B, is it kind of obvious that Eliza's going to, like, who's Eliza going to choose?
Yeah, I think, who do we think? Because we don't know. Yeah. Okay. So I think, coming back from
the date, I think she was going to choose Aaron B. I think that her and John had a great date.
And John, John B is one of my boys. Like, it was great seeing like all those guys because
I was the first time that I hadn't seen any of them since filming The Bachelorette. So me, Aaron
asked for obviously to be close Aaron B. But that was tough, right? Like, John B and Aaron B are friends.
So coming down with the date card
And a lot of your guys
From that season are already on the beach
It's tough to go and make a decision
Where you're like, man, like, do I really want to take Aaron's girl on a date?
Like, do I want to take Sean's girl on a day?
Do I want to take Aaron S's girl?
Like, that's a tough decision.
Were you guys surprised she went on the date with John B
or no?
I was a little surprised
I mean, as viewers, I mean, I was surprised
Yeah, nothing against John B.
We were just surprised because she seemed.
really set on Aaron B?
Yeah.
I think there was probably some reasons in her head
like why she went on that date with John B
and I think it was only meant to like,
hey, like if I go on this date
and I'm still thinking about Aaron all the time,
it means I'm meant to be with Aaron.
And John B is like an incredible dude too,
so I'm sure they had a blast.
But I was a little shocked in the moment.
I was like, oh, okay, all right, here we go.
This should be interesting coming back.
The love triangles are forming in paradise this episode.
I feel for, I feel for Eliza too, because I know she didn't have like the best go of Paradise last time.
So I definitely feel for her.
And she's a, she's a sweetheart.
Like her voice, you guys have talked to her, right?
Her voice is just so sweet.
She's like a Disney princess.
So I think she's a girl.
She is like a Disney princess, actually.
Yeah.
Yeah.
The problem, the problem of Paradise is like, I get it.
Like you, you don't want to go after the same girl that your boys are going after.
But at the end of the day, there's only so many people.
there so like in order for paradise to work for you you either have to have a connection right at
the beginning and build on that or you do have to be a little selfish like you yeah you kind of like
almost have to like be open with your friends like hey like I might go after your girl at some
point I mean like Kenny Kenny dated like four different girls on our season and it worked out
for him and he wasn't a like he wasn't a jerk about it he was just like I'm exploring
That's what I'm here to do.
I'm exploring my options until I find, figure out which girl is the girl.
Like we don't know, Sean, we don't know what happens with you because we do see in the teaser that a girl comes down.
So maybe you get saved.
But at this point, when everything's going down, you basically have, you know, you've got no sleep.
You're most, it looks like you're going home.
Do you wish you would have done anything differently?
Probably.
differently. Yeah, I definitely. Like, I definitely could have done stuff differently throughout the
entire time. Maybe, like, explored things with Jess a little bit further. Maybe, like,
went all into Rachel, but, um, you know, I would always, do you think there was any, any other
girls there that you could have sparked something with? I think we had a great cast. Like,
I honestly think that, um, they were all amazing. And I didn't really give, given the fair chance,
like, really see things through with anyone besides Jess and Rachel, which probably was to my
detriment. So there's a lot of great girls there. And I'm, I'm friends with a lot of them
afterwards too so um i don't know i mean mercedes was cool i think maybe someone coming down like davy i
think greer was awesome too when she was on paradise so maybe if i would explore things with other
people sooner but at the end of the day like i was there to find somebody and i had to to figure it out
for myself and i ended up probably shooting myself in the foot a little bit but i was never there
just to like you know whatever like skate through it and you know leave single like there was
never my intention with that like i did want to find somebody so i i don't think i think watching you on
the show like you um like we joke around like hot Sean but like you you do come across to
somebody that is there to find something yeah no you come across as like you're you're taking it
seriously like I feel like you definitely seem like you're genuinely looking for a relationship
and I feel like everyone it goes down to paradise and navigates it differently and there's no like
right or wrong way to navigate it and it's not easy to navigate either and I think
you know, it's always
interesting to see how people
approach it, but
I don't think you should ever leave
with regrets. Yeah, and
I had fun. I have so much fun when
I'm filming these things. And like, I think
this got a chance to let viewers in a little bit
more of my personality, which I don't think
necessarily was shown on the back to try.
Like, I like to mess around and have, have fun.
Like, I don't take myself too seriously.
I can laugh at myself. But I also
was there to find someone. And it was
overall, like, you know, it was an awesome
experience regardless.
If you are single right now, I don't know if I should do not ask this, but if you
are single right now, would you go back on Paradise?
If I was single right now.
Or if you're single when filming comes back around, let's say.
Let's put it like that.
Yeah, if I, yeah, I think I would.
And like truly, like looking back at the two experiences I've had, like I've met some of the
most, some of my best friends from the show, everyone that works on the show, even
from like the production side, the audio people, the camera guys.
Like, I do have a blast and have so much fun filming and it's just so different than
when I do in my day to day.
So if I was single when Paradise came around, I think I would say yes to it.
And I think I might navigate it a little bit differently than maybe I did this time.
Yeah.
I do think you're doing a great job, though.
Like it is important when you go on these shows not to take yourself too seriously.
And I think you do a great job at that.
Maybe stop the singing, I guess, would probably be my number, number one thing.
So when did you say? What did you say? When did you say? Oh my gosh. I was I was singing a Taylor Swift
song in an interview. Oh yeah. Yeah. So like it was style. So I remember doing that. I was like,
oh man, this is going to be so funny. And like hopefully it came off as funny. I was just messing
around. But two was it two seasons now and arguably two hit singles. So a lot of singing from shot. A lot of
from shots.
Out of who you said you met us
some of your best friends on this show,
what guys would you consider
your best friends from the season?
Yeah, Paradise.
Aaron S. is a ride or die friend.
He's amazing.
Aaron B. John B. Tanner.
Like, I had all my boys there.
All the guys from charity season for the most part
were like some of my best friends.
And then obviously, like, I'm really close with Joey.
So I'm excited to see how his season turns out.
But I had all my best friends that respond.
You're on a beach in Mexico.
out you're drinking with your voice.
Like, can't really beat it.
If, if, um, you, you aren't scared to, to shoot your shot.
So is there, if there's one girl in Bachelor Nation, here's your chance right now.
Who would you try to talk to?
Well, I mean, am I, am I single?
Maybe I'm still on after.
If you're single.
Hypothetically.
Hypothetically speaking.
Oh my gosh.
There's so many great, great girls out there.
there. Oh, man. I remember, like, in the moment when I was, like, sitting on Paradise
waiting for hopefully someone comes down. I was thinking, like, maybe Gabby would be really cool
to meet, but I think she's in a relationship. So I don't know. I'd have to go back.
Wait, not Bachelorette, Gabby. Gabby from Zach's season.
Gabby's from Zach's season. That would be a little bit too much, like Gabby from Rachel's season
coming down. But, yeah, I think, I think Gabby's from Zach's season. I thought that she was super
cute. I thought she was really great in the show. But there's a lot of a lot of great people out there
in Bachelor Nation. I think Brittany Galvin's pretty cool too from what I've heard. So nice. Keep going
Sean. Thank you so much for coming, Sean. You're always a great interview. We're happy to
have you here. And we are excited to see what happens with you next week on Paradise. Fingers crossed for
you. Rose appears at a thin air or a girl or something. Something.

When you think about emotion regulation, you're not going to choose an adaptive strategy
which is more effortful to use unless you think there's a good outcome.
Avoidance is easier. Ignoring is easier. Denials easier. Complex problem solving.
Takes effort.
