Starting point is 00:03:25 We really want to hear all of it. You can also DM us on Instagram at Bachelor Happy Hour. Absolutely can. So before we get into today's episode, Kath, what do you think? With our very special guest, Kathy, we got to talk about last night's episode of The Bachelor. I mean, where do we even begin? Susan, there's so much, so much. Can I just say, and I think you agree, the first night, I was so impressed.
Starting point is 00:03:54 I think I had tears before the show started when he talked about his family. Wait, newsflash, Susan crying. So unexpected. So unexpected. No, it was. It was really sad growing up without a dad. Yeah, not having dinners as a family. And the first impression rose went to his grandmom.
Starting point is 00:04:14 Like, I love that. That was sweet. The pre-packages were really well done. Then we get into last night. Yeah, no, wait. I got it. Let me just say. we're going to talk a little bit about the gals first i need to give a shout out to juliana first of all i think
Starting point is 00:04:30 she's going to go really far in this show but i'm giving her a shout out because she is from newton massachusetts and that's where i grew up and i believe her uncle went to high school with my sister so juliana i'm rooting for you girl i'm rooting for she is from it's newton it's called the lake you're from down the lake so anyway so she knows exactly where you're coming from girl that I'm coming from. But wait, how about the make-out sessions and jumping on top of them? I'm like, straddling. But wait, let me say something, Susan.
Starting point is 00:05:04 I do not, I cannot believe the difference between the Bachelor with the Youngens and the Goldens with, you know, Gary and Joan as leads. First of all, you know, Joan didn't have beds. She said, I'm not going to kiss guys. I'm not going to, you know, get into bed with guys. these girls from the get-go have been talking about he's my husband Grant's making out with every one of them
Starting point is 00:05:30 he freaking sends Alicia home last night and he's making out with her on the first night blew me away. I really thought he was into her really did. I don't. So the other thing that I'm finding so interesting is I mean these are young people right they haven't lived a lot of life yet they haven't learned a lot of life lessons like
Starting point is 00:05:48 you know we have. Having said that he's talking his first love is basketball and I'm like I wanted to rewind that and say wait do you want to rethink that grant um and then he says he really wants to be a dad so we got all these women saying you know I want to be your wife I want you to be my husband we have our kids yeah and when we have our kids I'm like you've known this guy exactly 30 seconds and yes see how he treats you what happened to women demanding the right man to respect her and to treat her well it's not that he won't. It's that they don't know anything. We know that he played pro basketball. We know he likes music. We know he wants kids. We know he wants to be a dad. And we're all in love with him.
Starting point is 00:06:30 I just find the dichotomy between the Golden Bachelor. The difference is blowing me away on this season. We're showing our age, I guess. Okay. Just a couple of, we're never showing our age. I, I loved, just a few things that I want to say. I loved that they changed the format and that the first date, individual date, went to Alex and the first rose. I think that's wonderful. And I loved, I mean, can I just say, Susan, you and I've spent a lot of time in the Beverly Center. That's where the first date was. Did you know that?
Starting point is 00:07:14 Yeah. The Beverly Center in a mall. Let's just be clear. It was closed, though. And it was closed. But it was cute. I mean, they did fun. Wasn't she adorable?
Starting point is 00:07:22 She's adorable. Yes. And they definitely have a connection. They did. They do. But wait, then can we talk? I have to ask you, the basketball, shoot your best shot. What did you think about Zoe?
Starting point is 00:07:34 That came like straight out. Like no time to prepare. I mean, but I was like watching Zoe going, whoa, girl. You know, you're stealing them on a group date. this is a recipe for disaster with young women again well you saw it start to the little new jersey girl you know jersey girl she was fired up boy but i'm just saying like this you can just see the drama percolating and i'm sitting here thinking oh buckle up baby because this is going to be a lot of drama when you think young bachelor that show has always been about drama
Starting point is 00:08:12 And that's what I think people were so surprised from ours. Yeah. Because there was any drama. There was. We genuinely cared about each other. Not that these girls aren't caring, but there's going to be some dog-dog. There's going to be some. I mean, the nails coming off in the basketball game, that's just the prelude to what's going to happen in that.
Starting point is 00:08:31 So let me ask you this, Kathy. Who do you think's going to be the one that tells him about the other, you know, Oh, dear Lord, I don't know. Like all these girls, first let me say. gorgeous, long hair, flipping. I'm like, I just want one of their heads of hair. Their bodies, their hair, their makeup, their jewelry, they're clothes. But you know what I have to say, as somebody you used to weigh 200 pounds,
Starting point is 00:08:55 Chloe. The first night when Chloe said she was a plus-sized model that she could be a zero, but she wasn't going to do that and not eat, I love. First of all, she is beautiful. And I love that we are representing now, Bachelor Nation is representing women of all colors, all size. So big shout out to Bachelor Nation on that one. She's gorgeous.
Starting point is 00:09:18 I think she's lovely. I know. They were all cute in their own ways. Like I said, I am blown away, Grant. Elijah, I thought was a contender. Alicia? I mean, Alicia. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:31 I agree. I really thought they had a connection. So I can't wait to see next week. Wait, I can tell you who's going to be a pistol. The other one, is Allie Joe the girl from Jersey? I think that's her name. The boxing trainer, right? Yeah, that's Allie Joe.
Starting point is 00:09:46 I don't know. Like I said, they're all gorgeous pick one. But yeah, I'm going to go with Allie Joe. What do you think of the defense attorney, the Chicago girl? I think, you know, I can't. Did you get a vibe from them? The vibe I'm getting is total chaos so far. Like, what are their stories?
Starting point is 00:10:07 Where are they going? Why are they upset? You know, it's like. Let me ask you something. Do you remember the night that we had to go perform live in front of an audience? That was our first big thing. You know, we had to do a talent thing and they had to do like a dance. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:22 Well, let me just say the girl, Carolina. First of all, shout out to me. I understand. I understand. Yeah, Dina. That's the attorney. That's her name. The attorney, yes.
Starting point is 00:10:34 Yeah. I, um, Carolina is from Puerto Rico. Yes, yes. And I understand her Spanish speaking. So I'm like, oh, this is a new thing coming. We're going to have it all in Spanish. But she was so uncomfortable in that dance routine, which honestly, I know you're a big dancer and you love to dance. I love to dance.
Starting point is 00:10:54 But that would have been, that would have been a lot for me. So I love that, you know, she just comes out with the Spanish and then straddles him for 10 minutes. I could, the makeout, though. I mean, I could see giving him a kiss, you know. But this was like a makeout humping session. slow your role girlfriend it's weak too he was love i know really he was loving every minute of it okay another age difference another age thing Mario or i don't even know what the hell his name was the singer i'm like i had no idea who he was did you oh god we're getting old susan like they're
Starting point is 00:11:29 recognized the song but i recognized the song but like who are you um you know i just i didn't know the song love love you i think it was you know great song yeah yeah they all knew it does you see them all singing it they were i know they knew and then bailey doing the splits i'm like another perfect split by the way could you see us out there just perfect split i can't i just i don't know i don't know i think that um i think it's it's interesting the second group date um you know asking rebecca so why would he think that it would go well. Why would anyone think it would go well? Did you see Ella's expression? She looked so surprised. So surprised. Like Ella's gone. I know. Did you see
Starting point is 00:12:17 her expression though when she didn't get the rose? It was like, really? I don't know. It's crazy. It's crazy, but it was a great show. Let me say. I think that towards the end, the girls are starting to, and they somebody said it, one of the girls said it. They're realizing that this process is real and, you know, it's hard to deal with dating the same guy. Yes. And there's going to be issues along the way. Yeah, we know all about interruptions. That's part of the game.
Starting point is 00:12:47 But the one... Zoe? She interrupts. Yeah, how many times of one night? But here's the thing. You know, I don't know how I feel about it. And I like her. I like her, but there's no real rules on Bachelor, right?
Starting point is 00:13:01 I mean, you know, interrupting and sort of making your own way. taking advantage of opportunities, I don't know. I would not have liked the game, but that was a lot. Well, it was a lot, but you know what? Somebody needed to Allie Joe's when they came out or and said, hey, you know, girlfriend. But I don't know how I feel about that. I just think that Grant is showing, you and I've talked about this. We know Joan, right?
Starting point is 00:13:26 So we knew right off from the get-go that Chalk was the guy, or we felt strongly about it, that Chalk was going to be the guy. but in this case he's making out with everyone sticking tongues that they're sticking tongues down each other's throat so far i'm you know i felt they're going to have a digestive disorder did you see gary doing that no and joan no no so i don't know so i don't know so i don't know and then the other thing that i really noticed was um you know at the rose ceremony he was saying oh it's just the most important thing is having emotional availability and connection and being vulnerable.
Starting point is 00:14:05 And I'm thinking, I don't know, are we grading the girls who make out the best? I don't know how they decide like that fast. I don't know. I think it's going to be, I felt the show for me was a little disjointed. Like the stories didn't hang some of the dates. I was like, wait a minute, what? What happened?
Starting point is 00:14:26 Things changed. It was fast for me. Like everything happened really quick. That's what I mean by disjointed. You're like, wait, weren't we just there a minute ago? Yeah, right, right. So, you know, it's going to be interesting to see the way it goes, but it's definitely not the Golden Bachelor.
Starting point is 00:14:41 Not even a little bit. But, hey, I'm enjoying the ride. We'll see what happens. It's a week three. Things settle down, hopefully week three, week four. Oh, boy. I never envision being with a woman. I'll just be honest.
Starting point is 00:14:58 I'm Jamel Hill, host of the Sports and Politics Podcasts, politics. On this week's episode, I'm joined by basketball legend, Candice Parker, who stops by to discuss her candid new book, The Can Do Mindset, in which she shares why she waited two years into marriage to come out. Like, when I close my eyes at night, every night, I was like, I need to find my prince charming. Like, it was never a princess. Like, that never entered into my mine. But, you know, as I learned, sometimes life gives you things wrapped in a package that you didn't expect it. And that was just, you know, and honestly, it took me a long time to be okay with myself. Make sure to listen to this week's episode of Spolitics on the Iheart

What would you do if one bad decision forced you to choose between a match? maximum security prison, or the most brutal boot camp designed to be hell on earth. Unfortunately for Mark Lombardo, this was the choice he faced. He said, you are a number, a New York State number, and we own you. Shock incarceration, also known as boot camps, are short-term, highly regimented correctional programs that mimic military basic training. These programs aim to provide a shock of prison life, emphasizing strict discipline,
Starting point is 00:17:53 physical training, hard labor, and rehabilitation programs. Mark had one chance to complete this program and had no idea of the hell awaiting him the next six months. The first night was so overwhelming, and you don't know who's next to you. And we didn't know what to expect in the morning. Nobody tells you anything. Listen to shock incarceration on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:18:20 A foot washed up a shoe with some bones in. it. They had no idea who it was. Most everything was burned up pretty good from the fire that not a whole lot was salvageable. These are the coldest of cold cases, but everything is about to change. Every case that is a cold case that has DNA. Right now in a backlog will be identified in our lifetime. A small lab in Texas is cracking the code on DNA. Using new scientific tools, they're finding clues in evidence so tiny you might just miss it.
Starting point is 00:18:53 He never thought he was going to get caught. And I just looked at my computer screen. I was just like, ah, gotcha. On America's Crime Lab, we'll learn about victims and survivors. And you'll meet the team behind the scenes at Othrum, the Houston Lab that takes on the most hopeless cases to finally solve the unsolvable. Starting point is 00:19:17 or wherever you get your podcasts. So, Kathy, I'm so excited about today's guest, huh? Okay, let's go. So he is from June's season of the Golden Bachelor and a handsome man. Please welcome Jordan. Jordan, thank you so much for joining us. Hey, Jordan. Thank you for having me.
Starting point is 00:19:42 I love that handsome, that intro. That's fantastic. Let's keep, let's do more of that. Yeah, absolutely. How are you? I'm really good. I'm good, thank you. So how's the new year going for you?
Starting point is 00:19:53 you, Jordan. Tell us what you've been up to. Give us a speech. It's been great. I started the new year. I was up in the North Woods of Wisconsin and was at a lake house. The owner of the house had a chainsaw and he drilled a hole in the lake and a bunch of us jumped in. So that was Are you crazy? Was that like the polar plunge thing? That's the place. Exactly. I mean, it was pretty cool because there's a stark lake, windy, you know, it was probably less than 20 degrees. And he chainsawed it. We jumped in. And he also has a sauna. So that was really, went from the lake to the sauna, the lake to the sauna. And he didn't get sick,
Starting point is 00:20:27 Cass. There's something to this. I know. I was just going to say, I walk out, go to the grocery store, and I'm down for a month with bronchitis. This guy's diving into freezing cold weather. How many seconds were you in the water? Like, because you know, my mom, my old Jewish mother would be like, you know, don't go out with your hair wet or something.
Starting point is 00:20:42 That's his fate. Italians are the same way. You're going to catch your cold. Jordan, I didn't know you were Jewish. I guess I did know you were Jewish. Yeah. I'm a half-breed. I'm a How would you know? I don't think we talked about it. I mean, I think I talked about in the show maybe a little bit. Somebody said. We did like the black and white cookies. We did. I did a few Jewish things for sure on the show. Well, I'm half Jewish, so I only eat the white cookies.
Starting point is 00:21:05 Besides trying to negotiate a better deal. No, that's bad Jewish. So I do have a little question. Did you go out to see the guys when they all met at Chalk's house? No. Oh, yeah. So I was with Chalk in Kansas City. Yeah, yeah. We had a really fun time, Ketzie. I didn't get to the final. So listen, I would have loved it. So I want to know, because Susan and I, we drill down deeply, just so you know, Jordan. So, you know, buckle up here.
Starting point is 00:21:32 Get ready, honey. So I want to know, like, how, were you distraught about Joan? Like, tell me where you were. Distraught about the relationship, about breaking the relationship. Well, that you didn't end up, you know, going the full deal. Were you taken by surprise? No, I think Joan and I, we had, you know, I think we talked about it. a lot of so much doesn't get made to the air there's a lot of it goes on as you guys know we had
Starting point is 00:21:57 i would say a slow start i was terrible out of the lemma i was atrocious and no it wasn't that so was i jordan so was i we all felt the same way trust me and then there's some guys who are just more i won't say that i'm not open i'm open but some guys were really like much further along than i was i'm a little bit reserved when it comes to that so i thought we had a really good relationship, and I would say this, every time we connected, it was better than the last time. So we were just building. But, you know, that that courtship is so short that you don't have time, you know, you've got to run to the finish line. Otherwise, you're just caught there. So I think Joan and I were kind of caught in that place where we weren't, you know, some guys were further
Starting point is 00:22:40 along with their, you know, expressing their emotions. And I just was, you know, a little bit behind. Well, I can honestly say from watching, and the very beginning, I didn't know if you were ready. That's the feeling I got from you, but you came, you came through. Yeah, no, I was, I was nervous. I was really nervous, you know, the first little bit. And then, you know, it's a new environment. I, I, you're competing against 24 guys down to 183 guys. It's crazy, right?
Starting point is 00:23:05 Did you ever think you would be doing that? We went through the same thing. No, I mean, it was. It was crazy. Did I do not personally feel like it was a competition. Did you feel like you were competing, Jordan? Well, at some level, yeah. So I'm in general, I was.
Starting point is 00:23:21 call myself a competitive person. So when I first got there, I was like, assess the guys. And I'm like, all right, there's a handful of guys that I made me to agree about. Us to the fireplace with a cocktail. We were talking about everybody. Like, what are we doing? All right. So talking, speaking of women and dating, I'm really going to hit you here. I saw pictures of you and Leslie all over the internet. And I know that people make, we all know this, right? The internet is either the life you want to live or the life somebody else told you you're going to live. Are you dating her?
Starting point is 00:23:58 Were you? Oh, look at your dog in a minute. I know his name is Mickey. It's adorable. Are you, that was your reprieve, Jordan, to think quickly on your feet here. Now I'm coming at you. Are you dating? Leslie and I are not dating.
Starting point is 00:24:12 We met at the men tell all. I had a suite for the L.A.F.C. soccer game. I invited a bunch of the bachelor's. Excuse me. I love soccer. Where was my... My daughter works for us, Jordan. What's wrong with this?
Starting point is 00:24:24 I told all the production staff and I told all the batches that were still out there. And Leslie and I had been texting a little bit. And she was coming out for dancing with the stars. So I said, hey, you know, I have this suite. Please come join me. So she joined. And then we'll call now that now famous picture where she jumped on me and took a selfie. It was cute.
Starting point is 00:24:45 That blew up the internet. But we were fast friends right away. Like certain people you connect with immediately, Leslie, you know, Lester and I, I would say is one of those. And then she came to Chicago. Her son lives here. We went to a couple concerts. Pascal joined us.
Starting point is 00:24:59 I mean, it was, she's a great friend. She's good people. Well, that's, that's a, that's a, that's a, what are you, a stop sign right there. No, I mean, no, no, we're, I mean, every relationship is, you know, a little different, but she, there's different chemistry. There's French chemistry. Yeah. No, and that's a great.
Starting point is 00:25:19 And you guys know her, obviously. She's... Leslie is a great person. She's amazing. But next time you have tickets, my daughter works for Austin FC. I used to be a soccer ref. I know the game. I mean, I know my daughter played collegiate soccer.
Starting point is 00:25:36 Oh, same. My daughter, too. Oh, really? Where did she play? Yeah, my oldest daughter, Allie played for Wisconsin. Oh, wow. My daughter played for Pomona College. And then my youngest daughter is engaged to a former professional soccer player.
Starting point is 00:25:49 So I'm a big soccer guy. Wow. Played for the fire. That's like us in baseball. I'm sorry. He played for who, for where? Chicago Fire. Oh, wow.
Starting point is 00:26:00 Wow. Well, congrats on the engagement. Did you play as well, Jordan? You know, I didn't really play soccer. I was more of a baseball, basketball type of guy. I would have loved it. I mean, soccer was, you know, I was more different sports. But now I'll play a little bit.
Starting point is 00:26:13 They still play in Chicago and I'll jump in. Do you play indoor? It's got to be indoor, right? Well, now it would be indoor, but no, like outdoor this feels in Chicago. What's your position? What do you play? No, not in soccer. I don't. I'm a stand-in. I'm like a henchman. There's someone's bothering one of the kids. They bring me in and give them a shoulder. So I have a question. I have a question. So I want to know, Kathy, I believe this is better for the men than it was for us.
Starting point is 00:26:42 Because everybody says when you're leaving the show, they're going to blow up your DMs. You're going to have more people. And all you men, excuse me, a lot of you men, a lot of the men on Jones season have girlfriends now. Was that the case for you? Because women, I believe, are on social media and reach out. Men are age, do not. They don't even know what Instagram is. No, no question about it. It was the DMs and the private messages and the women very forward.
Starting point is 00:27:14 I mean, there's what I've said. Okay, but Jordan, how do you feel about that? No, like, have you met with any of them? Have you had a date with any of them? Have you chatted with any of them? Yeah, so I've connected with, I'll say a few of them. I've had it. Wait, I have to interrupt here.
Starting point is 00:27:29 The way he's talking, Susan, I think he had to book out an hour to talk with us. I'm telling you what, I'm going to get directions. There's lots to talk about. He's got a date before. I'm going to do a video on men getting on Instagram. I'll put it out the paper. Yeah, I'm trying to help guys figure that out as well. So I think I told us on one of the other podcasts.
Starting point is 00:27:48 You know, guys who would be, let's say, in my situation, would think, this is amazing. You have all these women who are in your DMs. And some of them are very forward and they don't really stop. And like I said, if I look at the message, it's like I feel compelled to answer it. And then it's just a lot of work. I mean, it's a lot of work. It is a lot of work. And you don't know how to really sift through them.
Starting point is 00:28:10 Because like I said, I went from like 800 Instagram followers to 10,000. Oh, we're feeling so sorry for you, Jordan. We're feeling so sorry for you, you poor thing. How do you get up out of bed in the morning and feed poor Mickey lying on that sofa there? He gets me up every morning pretty early. So are you dating? Are you dating? Yeah, I am dating.
Starting point is 00:28:32 I am dating. And I won't say through the show, but kind of through the show. She recognized me and that's how she approached me and we've been kind of dating. Oh, so you're dating one person, one person. Yeah, I would say that right now. All right. So how about New Year's intentions or resolutions? Did you make any? Yeah, I make I make them all the time, right? So how long have they lasted? This year, I really want to be more present, you know, with my, the show was really good with, you know, we went one time when you take away your phone for five weeks, right, or six weeks, whatever it is. And then we, you know, I'm out with the producer one day and we were, we had a day on our own and you see everybody is on their phone. Sit me because I don't know. phone.
Starting point is 00:29:18 Right, right. You really realize how, how terrible that is, you know, standing in line at a restaurant, everyone's got their head down, walking across the street. Yeah. So I don't mean anybody. Yeah, it's terrible. Yeah. I agree.
Starting point is 00:29:31 I think it's the, you know, the, you know, the, it's great benefits of it's humanity, but I think it's not. Yeah. So one of the things is really be less, less present. And it's kind of a contradiction. I have to be on social media, but less involved with, with the phones. Yeah. Especially when you're out in public.
Starting point is 00:29:48 That's one of the things like I'll go out and dine by myself and put the phone down, but it's almost uncomfortable because you're so used to it. It is. It's really, it's a crutch that we all have. And I think we'd all benefit by putting it away for a good part of the day. So Jordan, you talked about your daughters. I also have, how many children do you have two daughters? I have three daughters.
Starting point is 00:30:11 Three daughters. Okay, so I have two sons and a daughter. And I'm just going to give the Reader's Digest version here. my two sons were fabulously excited about me going on the show my daughter not so much how no how did your um how did your daughters feel about you going on the show my kids loved it so my youngest daughter is the one that signed me up uh unbeknownst to me and then once you know when i first told them i said i got this call because she did it years ago she did it in 2020 when you know before when they first were talking about the show and then they found me last january and then the kids were super excited about it they you know they obviously my girls and I are really close and they they love my you know banter with them and just like my my stick in general so they thought they're like America's gonna love you dad and they did and they also you know they wanted me to find to find love as well you know they don't we're all a lot of times each of them are you know are all partnered off so it would be seven of us
Starting point is 00:31:09 instead of eight of us so how long have you been single jordan how long have you been single um like four, like, you know, I got divorced eight years ago. I had a girlfriend for like half that time. So I'd say about four years. Yeah. And in that time, I've had little relationships as well. So other than, other than obviously you're dating this woman now and giving up phones or realizing, you know, we need to spend less time on phones, how has your life changed other than those two things from being on the show?
Starting point is 00:31:40 Well, first of all, you guys, like one thing is being recognized is a really, is unique. It's crazy, right? Really fun. I mean, it's still, I mean, you guys are more popular than I'm, obviously. So you get recognized more, but the amount I get recognized is really fun for me. People come up, they're excited to see me, they're like, are you that guy from the show?
Starting point is 00:31:59 Yeah. So that's been really nice. And then, you know, a lot of doors have opened up as far as activities. So invited to games, invited to concerts, yeah, restaurant openings, those types of things. So that's been really fun. And then I've done, I don't know if you've seen, I've done some modeling.
Starting point is 00:32:15 I was just going to ask. I heard some modeling. You know, look at me. I'm going to be a model at 861. You and guys. Did they have skinny jeans on you or what did they have on? So yeah, I mean, that skinny jeans, you know, I got kind of trauma. And the boots.
Starting point is 00:32:30 And after that. I know. Why did one of the producers say, Jordan, tuck yourself in a little bit? The day on the water, right by the water, I was like, whoa. Plus, you know, listen, I can talk like this with you guys so that no, you think like I Yeah. Guys, we've been there for five weeks sequestered from women, other than Joan, you know, someone grazes my arm and I'm like, wait.
Starting point is 00:32:53 So, you know, you can't stick me in tight jeans. Someone said, you know, Jordan, take it back a little bit, buddy. I hear you. So there's some, there's some embarrassing pictures out there. But hey, I'm a man. What can I say? That's right. Be proud baby.
Starting point is 00:33:05 Just be. All right. Before this degenerates any further, we're going to get into some fan questions. One second, Kat. I would know what advice would you give someone else another man that was going to go on the show? I would say, you know, you really got to be open to the experience. Be yourself. What they're looking for, I think what the fans are looking for, what everybody's looking for is really for you to just be yourself and just be open to whatever situation happens there on the show.
Starting point is 00:33:33 There's a lot of these different things that pop up and just be open and vulnerable and express those feelings. And you know what, Jordan, it's hard. I think what you were saying, it's difficult sometimes. to be vulnerable when it's not really just Joan. It's the world that's going to be seen. It's your family. That's what we were talking about earlier. Yeah, there's other people involved.
Starting point is 00:33:53 There's other people involved. Exactly. So you have to be vulnerable and you have to be who you are. And sometimes that gets you the woman. I would forget. I would forget until after the fact and go, oh, God, my kids are going to see this. What did I say? I, listen, but I love, I, people who ask.
Starting point is 00:34:13 me and more women have asked me to be on like what should I go on the show than men have and I always say absolutely if you can get on the show it's an experience of a lifetime you get yeah you get to meet these incredible people you get a behind the scenes peak what's going on in television land I think and it was all it was it was it was a fantastic experience as we all know by any by any stretch but a fantastic experience absolutely life changing could you say yeah it's definitely I thought at our age this hey Susan Susan yes you know You know how it's life-changing? Jordan has a girlfriend.
Starting point is 00:34:47 You and I, not so life-changing. We have a friendship that will never end. I bet you know what I'm saying. I know what you mean. All right. We're going to get into our fan questions. Here's the thing, Jordan. We get fans writing questions.
Starting point is 00:35:02 We're going to read them. And then you're going to weigh in if you'd be so kind to weigh in and sort of give your opinion with us. We all give some advice. All right. Here we go. Tanya write. Hi ladies, I need your help. My boyfriend is literally addicted to football. I don't know what to do. I've been with him for like six months and I feel like he's always watching football. I didn't even know football could be on for so long. He'll have it pulled up on his phone when we're out with friends or going to dinner. He's always checking his fantasy team. Everything and it's driving me nuts. I know you guys are really sensitive about that kind of thing. So how do you suggest they go about? talking to him about this.
Starting point is 00:35:45 What do you think is a fair compromise to ask for? Thank you. Okay, what's your answer to Tanya, Jordan? Well, what I would say is my guess he's not just playing fantasy. He's probably gambling. That's what my question was. Is he betting? Because I used to be a football gambler back in the day.
Starting point is 00:36:01 And I would be driving before he had the internet. I'd pull over with my family, pull over to pay phone and call movies. So he, so it's an addiction like any other addiction. She would have to deal with it like he's an addicted drinker or is addicted, you know, something else. No question that that is an addicted gambler. And that's the way they act, that nothing, you block out everything, the world. He's got to know what's going on with his teams and his scores. And, well, the good news is if he's only buts football, it's about to end here in a couple of weeks.
Starting point is 00:36:32 Yeah, right. I would have a conversation with him and ask them. And if we're winning, then you need to shut the F up. Listen, don't worry about it, honey. I got this. You know, you want your partner to be present with you. That's what I was going. I'm like, you guys are talking about if you're winning.
Starting point is 00:36:50 I'm sitting here getting stuck on the line where she says at dinner, he's on the phone. I wouldn't be dating the guy who was on his phone. No, no, no. That's the deal breaker. That's 100% of deal breaker. He's got to figure out his life. And I think if he's that involved and that addicted to his phone and gambling or his football, I mean, it's not that interested in the football.
Starting point is 00:37:10 It's about, come on, it's about the money for sure it's a game. All right. I find Al, Tanya. Tanya. See counseling. Get him to come. Get him to come. 1,800 addiction.
Starting point is 00:37:21 Yeah. You know. And we're in the play also. Well, I had heard, like someone said that the, um, like gambling for the younger guys now is like, is like the new porn. Yeah, because it's legal and, you know. All consuming. You can bet on everything. So, and it's super easy to do.
Starting point is 00:37:38 So I think it becomes all consuming to many of these guys. You know, it's funny. You know, it's funny. You said that during. I dated a guy for 10 minutes. We're still friends. But he was telling me, you know, my dad, my husband, they gambled on games. You know, you got the line and the whole bit.
Starting point is 00:37:54 But this guy that I know says that you can bet on like, you know, how long it's going to be for the first down. Yeah. Oh, yeah. It's a crazy bet on. You can bet on. Exactly. I mean, it's now you can bet on every little mini aspect of the game. Did you ever walk into the good?
Starting point is 00:38:12 casino and the betting part. It's like huge. The sports book is crazy. Yes. So it's a problem without a question. If you're one of those people who's involved and you have an addictive personality, you can really get caught into it. And it's super hard to get out.
Starting point is 00:38:28 Do you gamble anymore? I don't really gamble anymore. I was a trader for a long time, a commodities trader, which was like almost like gambling. That's like gambling. It's like gambling. Soy beans and cotton. The extension of everyone, at the Chicago Mercant those names, half the guys there were bookies anyway.
Starting point is 00:38:45 So you were gambling and on the weekends you were gambling. So when that life ended, I had to, you know, I ended up. You let go of that. You let go of that. I'm Jamil Hill, host of the Sports and Politics Podcasts, Politics. And on the latest episode of Politics, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries joins me for a candid conversation about the state of the Democratic Party. What do Republicans say to you privately that they won't
Starting point is 00:39:12 say publicly. Many of them are in fear of their political lives and that's been part of the challenge, but we continue to say to them, you were elected to defend your constituents, to stand up for your constituents. And there's life after Congress. And you should be willing to actually want to be able to look back on your time in the House of Representatives knowing that you can keep your head held high because you did the right thing. Donald Trump is gone in three and a half years. But their legacy or their failure to stand up to the extremism and the unprecedented assault on America as we know it will be with them forever. Make sure to listen to Spolitics on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:39:58 Hi, my name is Enya Umanzor. And I'm Drew Phillips. And we run a podcast called Emergency Intercom. Starting point is 00:40:35 And my mom is a cousin. So, like, it's not... What do you get when a true crime producer walks into a comedy club? I know it sounds like the start of a bad joke, but that really was my reality nine years ago. I'd just normally do straight stand-up, but this is a bit different. On stage stood a comedian with a story that no one expected to hear.
Starting point is 00:40:56 The 22nd of July 2015, a 23-year-old man had killed his family. And then he came to my house. So what do you get when a true crime producer walks into a comedy club. A new podcast called Wisecrack, where stand-up comedy and murder takes center stage. Available now.
Starting point is 00:41:22 Listen to Wisecrack on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. What would you do if one bad decision forced you to choose between a maximum security prison or the most brutal boot camp designed to be hell on earth? Unfortunately for Mark Lombardo, this was the choice he faced. He said, you are a number, a New York State number, and we own you. Shock incarceration, also known as boot camps, are short-term, highly regimented correctional
Starting point is 00:41:53 programs that mimic military basic training. These programs aimed to provide a shock of prison life, emphasizing strict discipline, physical training, hard labor, and rehabilitation programs. Mark had one chance to complete this program and had no idea of the health. awaiting him the next six months. The first night was so overwhelming, and you don't know who's next to you. And we didn't know what to expect in the morning. Nobody tells you anything. Listen to shock incarceration on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

Listen to the Super Secret Bestie Club as a part of the Mycultura podcast network available on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. All right, now we're going to do some fun questions, if you don't mind. It's about getting people to get to know Jordan.
Starting point is 00:43:39 Kathy, you want to begin with the first one? oh it's this is be careful of your answer here it's all i can say be careful it may end some of your friendships if you were stranded on a deserted island and you and you could have susan and me with you what other one person no that is not the question okay if you were stranded on a deserted island and could only bring three guys from the mansion who would you bring only three so there's like seven of us that I would say are really close guys. Played by the rules here, Jordan. We're not gambling here. Straight answer. The closest guys, I would say Keith is, you know, he and I were best friends immediately. And I know chalk answered me. He said, he said he would bring me. So I have
Starting point is 00:44:27 to reciprocate him bring chalk because he's been a good guy. And then I'm going to say Pascal is a great friend. I can't stop at three. I cannot. It's hard. That's fair. How many of y'all live in Chicago? Wait, how many of y'all live in Chicago? So Pascal and I, and then Jack, like, kind of lives south Chicago, so three of us. Michael, I think it also might be moving back to Chicago, too. Michael is from Chicago. So I've been out, Michael's been to Chicago, we've been out to dinner.
Starting point is 00:44:55 Mark is coming. We're going to go out to dinner with him in a couple of weeks. And I was in Chicago. Hello, I need your number. The next time I'm there. Oh, yes, of course. I mean, I'll show you, you know the town, but I'll show you my version of the town. And to be clear, Jordan.
Starting point is 00:45:08 We're Susan Goeth, Kathy Goeth. And you can bring your girlfriend, tell her, don't be jealous. We're just friends. I mean, we'd be walking down the street. It would be like a scene. It's crazy, right? Well, I went to see Val from Dancing with the Stars. They perform when they're not on the show.
Starting point is 00:45:25 And it was a blast. We all had dinner afterwards. I miss Chicago. I really do. Okay. So what's one piece of advice you wish you could have given your younger self? Well, the simple one is wear sunscreen, so that's easy. But I would say, you know, I spend more time with your parents.
Starting point is 00:45:48 You know, my parents, I lost my parents. I was pretty young. We had a great relationship. I spent time with them. But I would say that to other people. You don't, you never know how long people have. I am tearing up. Jordan, nobody has ever, we asked that question to just about everyone who comes on our podcast.
Starting point is 00:46:06 I'm literally sitting here turning up. I've never had anyone into that. We like you a little bit more. Yeah. Oh, thank you. And I just a little bit I got goosebumps from you saying. I know, me too, me too. So I had, so I'll just tell you a quick story.
Starting point is 00:46:17 So on the show, I lost my dad. I was 29. He was 63. So it was really. And at the time, it didn't really make sense. My mom was 61, the same age as Joan was. And at some point when we were talking about it, Joan was, you know, talking about the hard, you know, how hard it is with John and,
Starting point is 00:46:38 And then it, like, popped in my head. I said, she's the same age as my mother. Like when my mother dated my father when they were, you know, teenagers. And when my dad passed away, she wouldn't even think of dating anyone else. It was like heresy to talk about it. Well, I have three older brothers. And we were like, mom, like, dad wouldn't want you to be alone, you know, this, you know, she wouldn't do it. She wouldn't do it.
Starting point is 00:47:01 And we begged her. And it just was, and I praise Joan for that. I said, you know, my mom was the same age. And she was a young woman. But she was, you know, she said, I have my husband and that's, that's it. Wow. Yeah. I know, you guys have both lost your husbands as well.
Starting point is 00:47:16 No, no. Susan's divorce. He still helps me out sometimes. Yeah. Oh, you lost your husband. I did. And when you just said that, it's, you know, seen it reflected through your eyes of, my daughter was 31 turning, she was 31 when her dad died.
Starting point is 00:47:36 And, you know, I can't even consider, we talk about it, but losing a parent when you're that young. But I think all of you feel, all of us feel the same way when you lose a parent or when you lose your spouse. If they're a given amount of time, life does go on. And why not have another love? It won't be the same or, you know what I mean? But it can be. No, of course not. You don't, you shouldn't be alone.
Starting point is 00:47:59 You don't give up. Great. It doesn't diminish love you had with your spouse at all. It doesn't. Right. It could be better. It could be matter. That's right.
Starting point is 00:48:09 All right. I have another question. Yes. We, in your video, well, I have my cat who's literally you can't see. I just saw it. It's fine. Yeah, and the tail's hanging in there. And I saw your dog, Mickey.
Starting point is 00:48:23 So I'm getting, and Mickey, it looks like an adorable. You said he's a rescue. After a long day or what is your favorite way to unwind? And I'm guessing it has something to do with your sweet dog. But tell me, how do you like your dog? Yeah. So Mickey and I have a great routine. I live right across in the lake. And we get up early and we do the lake walk. And then in the afternoon, come back. We take two long walks. And the second one is another, you know, right by the lake fronts. And it's just he and I. Is it got cold? Is it cold? It's really cold. This morning is super cold. But he loves it. He's kind of impervious. So I do it for him. And it's, it's therapeutic for me too. So we take good long walks. And he's what I'll call a man's dog. Like he's rough and tumble. He loves to, you know, him and I just love it. Mickey,
Starting point is 00:49:08 my sidekick. Wait, Mickey, your dad thinks you're rough and double. I seen Mickey or I did snoozed out on the floor and then on the sofa. That's how look.
Starting point is 00:49:17 Yeah, I'm going with not rough and tumble here, Jordan. I'm going with, yeah, call up like a cat. But he, he's a great companion.
Starting point is 00:49:26 I, you know, and how old is Mickey? All my divorce friends, like the guys, I always get a dog. Like, they're unhappy.
Starting point is 00:49:33 Get a dog. My advice to everyone is get a dog because there's love. I think that love is a very real love. I think of the responsibility because I'm moving around so much. I don't think it would be fair. That's one of the reasons. People say that and I say that you find a way.
Starting point is 00:49:47 You find a way. I think because the love that you get and that you receive is amazing. Yeah, I have two cats. You said that Mickey's a rescue. I have two cats that are now 13 that I have a big heart for animals and they needed rest. They needed fosters. and so I fostered these two kittens. When my husband came home, he was like, what?
Starting point is 00:50:11 But I fostered them. They were five weeks old. They're sisters. And of course, and now I couldn't take them back. I mean, when they said, you know, you can bring them back. You know, we have room now. And I said, I can't. I have one last question.
Starting point is 00:50:26 Well, I'm going to say my youngest daughter just fostered or she adopted a cat. She has two adopted, she's two adopted greyhounds. and she adopted a kitten, and it's like a special needs kitten. It's the most adorable thing. It's back legs don't work so great, so it's always just sliding around. And the dogs are good to it? I mean, I can send you guys pictures. You won't believe it.
Starting point is 00:50:47 She's sleeping on the dog's heads. I mean, it's incredible. Is she going to keep the cat? I think we were cat people until we have this cat now. Listen, my cats are like dogs. People who don't like cats love my cats. They come in. People are allergic to cats, literally, are not allergic to my cats.
Starting point is 00:51:02 So I have a new perspective on cats now. Good. All right. Last question of the day because we're going to have to wrap. If you were to write an autobiography, what would the title be? Title of my autobiography would be, that's a good, that's a tough question. It is. Might be just smiles a lot.
Starting point is 00:51:24 It's not very prophetic, but I do smile a lot. I have a, you know, my outlook on life is, you know, I'm usually. happy all the time. So something along those lines. I don't have something just like a one point in the face kind of man. Mine is and I thought about I thought about writing it but then I thought
Starting point is 00:51:44 but mine would be run between the drops because that's to me that's well it's what you're saying. You know it might be raining out but I try to look for the positive no matter what's happened in my life. You know it could be smile between the drops but run between the drops. You know
Starting point is 00:52:00 enjoy life grab for what you can. There's going to rain, there's going to be sun. Anyway, that's mine. I would be enjoy, enjoy who you are, just me. Right. Those are all great. So let's all get ridding. I think that, you know, I kind of always
Starting point is 00:52:15 have looked at the positive side. I haven't taken life as too serious. So I've got to figure out a good title for a book that goes along those lines. I agree. I agree. I can't thank you enough. We might as well have fun, right? Yeah, damn right.
Starting point is 00:52:29 Absolutely. I still see the cup as almost pull. I mean, you guys know, I love your, I love both of your zest for life. I love the spunk that you guys bring to the, you know, and I, I try to do the same thing in my life. I just, I see that. You know, every day it's a choice. It's a choice every day. You can get up and be horrible or you can get up and be grateful and live, you know, life to the, to the fullest. It's a choice every day. 100%. We just want to thank you from the bottom of our heart. hearts. I was so nice to see you. So relax. And that beautiful smile and that handsome face.
Starting point is 00:53:09 And you're very lucky. Like I said, I missed out. I'm meeting you guys. I'd still not. We will be. We're not going anywhere. Jordan, we thank you. And that's going to do it today for this episode of Bachelor Happy Hour's Golden Hour. Thank you. Hold it. Hold it. Hold it. Hold it. Hold it. hold it. I want people to know where they can write into us just in case. It's a new year, Susan. People, you know, they've lost their minds. They've lost their memories.
