This time I talk to scientists, biopunks, kermudgins, blues owners, super seniors,
and Goa's top cryotherapy lab to try to understand this obsession with living forever
and what it means for all of us.
And I get into a bit of trouble along the way.
I'd say probably start bone smashing.
That doesn't work.
To make it look more defined.
They say it works.
I don't know.
Listen to Skyline Drive, How to Live Forever, on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Hey, it's Alec Baldwin.
This season on my podcast, here's the thing.

It's the pleasure of hanging out with the people that you're with.
You know, Rob and I was always a great hang.
And director Morgan Neville.

What do you want to say?
Documentary is all by your ear.

Why do some women yearn for Shakira's black hair to make a comeback?
And whatever happened to the power couple of my dreams, Mariah Carey and Luis Miguel?
I'm Maria Garcia.
You may remember me for my podcast, Anything for Selena, or My Thivo.
And now I'm back to unpack more stories from my story.
the present and the past. Listen to Mui Eighty with Maria Garcia on the IHeart Radio app, Apple
podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome back to Golden Hour. I'm Kathy. And I'm Susan here
from the Outer Banks in North Carolina. From the Outer Banks. How's the weather there?
Well, the first two days were a little shady, you know. We had a couple storms, but the rest of the
week looks brilliant. Oh, I'm lucky for you. We're under a flash flood watch for the next three days.
Well, you need it rain, right?
Yeah, but we don't need to flood, Susan.
No, nobody needs the flood.
This weather doesn't know what it's doing.
I know, Kathy, I walked that beach this morning with the ocean waves cracking beside me thinking how grateful I am just to be here.
You are grateful.
Do you know why I'm laughing?
Why are you laughing?
Because you said listening to the ocean waves.
And I just found on my Amazon, I can play.
ocean sounds. So I turn it on every night. I pretend I'm at the beach, but no, you got the real
thing. It figures. Okay, well, I'm glad you're having a good time. I hope the weather holds up for you.
Not much going on in my life. Had a date. We'll get to that at another time.
Oh, boy. Yeah, you know, it's always, it's always an adventure with me.
How about we talk about some Bachelor Nation news, then? Okay, let's get into it, because we've had a huge
week. And actually, our first one is Cindy colors, Debbie Sieber's, and more Golden Bachelor
Stars reunite for a girls' trip. Actually, I was there for one of the events we went for
a barbecue, and I have to tell you, it was hysterical. We're sitting there, and a couple of the
girls, I don't want to mention any names, were taking photographs, and, and
one of the girls leaned over and said to me, oh my God, this is like the 14th,000 photo.
I'm ready to go home.
I mean, seriously, they were having servers take pictures.
Every food item that came out.
I literally crawling over took pictures with me.
I'm sure you saw about Instagram.
But they, you know what?
They like our group, they get it.
It's all about the fun relationships, the friendships, and they seem great time.
Do you remember when we all met up?
Remember how fun it was?
It was. It was.
Good for them. Good for them. They had a great time.
And they all looked amazing. I saw them on the boat. They were all posing.
They really looked good.
They do. They went on a boat. They went to Lake Austin Spa.
Lake Austin Spa, if you're listening, I want a free day there.
It's a beautiful spa in Austin. They went there for the day.
They watched fireworks. So they had a great time.
As I said to them when they were asking me all about, you know, what you and I are doing, I said, guys, the most important thing that's coming out of this is not whether you found your true love because none of you did on the show.
It look around you.
It's these friendships.
That's, you won because that's what you won, these great friendships.
So it was great to see them all, and you're right.
They all look great.
That's what matters the most, man.
All right.
What else we got?
What else we got here?
Okay.
Let's talk about Ben, our favorite Ben Higgins and Kendall Long are both expecting babies.
Maybe number two.
But wait, can I just say they're not expecting together?
Ben is having another little girl and she's all worried about carrying on the family
names.
They're going to have to have more than two.
I'm thinking, Kathy.
I don't think they're done with two.
And then who has the daughter, Elise?
I think that is Kendall.
And she's having a December baby.
Ben didn't say when she's doing.
Yeah, they said around the holidays.
So yeah.
So maybe we're going to have.
two bachelor's
born before the end of the year.
And, you know, it's so exciting.
Ben is a great girl, dad.
He is.
Oh, yeah.
He's perfect.
And did you see the post not too long ago?
I know Nancy's visiting her family right now.
Yes.
And Ben's from up there, too.
Yeah.
And they got together.
They saw each other.
I thought that was great.
I don't think people know.
They grew up in the same hometown.
Yes.
And so when she goes up in the summer, she sees him there.
Because he spends a lot of time there and stuff.
as well. Yeah, they obviously great people come from that part of the world. So congratulations
on your babies. Both of you. Both of you. Okay, now this is one, Susan, that we are going to get into.
Chelsea Vaughn reveals how a, quote, professional painter turned her apartment into a, quote,
horror film. First of all, first of all, was he, let's just start with this. Was he a professional
painter because the picture she put
online looked like my three-year-old
granddaughter who basically
cannot color inside the lines.
She thought
she hired a professional.
This man put out there that he was a
professional. But you know what? It is
so true. Everything she said,
I hear her cry. Most
people think, who cares? A painter wasn't that
good? No, no, no, no. You have to see
these pictures. Well, first of all,
First of all, Chelsea, when you go with a dark brown paint, you know, every stroke shows.
If you do white, you know, you can get by.
But I mean, around the phone, the outlet plugs.
I'm not kidding.
The outlet plugs, it looked like it.
My five-year-old granddaughter did it.
That's what I said.
My three-year-old can color in the lines better than that.
I felt sorry for her.
Because I would be whining and crying, Kathy, louder than her.
I'm scared.
But here's the thing.
I don't know about you, Susan.
When I hire someone...
Would you not be whining and prying?
I make sure they really are a professional.
I get...
I call and get...
What's it called when you get, you know, referrals?
I call and make sure that he's done work.
If it's a big job...
I mean, if I'm painting a room, it's no big deal.
But if I'm painting...
having my house painted,
oh, no, I want to talk to other people.
who have used the painter. I want to talk to other people who have used the plumber because there's
nothing like a bad paint job, bad plumbing job to, you know, to set your life off.
I mean, that's a flood your house. We won't go there. A painter, you can get another one,
but it also looked like it wasn't like, you know, when construction is brand new and the lines are
clean, this looks like it's been painted 105 times. So she was in, if I understood it correctly,
She was in Mexico
Mexico City, I think, broke up with her guy,
moved back to New York City,
lived there for a while, then now moved out to LA.
I don't know where this horrible paint job came about,
but if it's in L.A., you need to lighten your paint color, Chelsea,
because it's hot in L.A.
and chocolate brown wall is going to make you feel even hotter.
Oh, God, God bless with that.
Good luck, sweetie.
All right, well, here we go.
I think I could have done better than that,
but now we're going to do vacation flings.
Are you ready for this?
I'm ready. Have you had one recently or ever? I did honestly when I was in eighth grade.
A vacation fling? I did on Cape Cod. We won't get into that. But wait, I want to know, like, you're on vacation right now. Do you, I actually think when people on vacation, like, no one knows them there, they can kind of do, it's, it's convenient to have a fling. What do you think?
Well, I'm here with 28 people in a 12-bedroom house on the beach.
You have to actually drive four miles down the sand to get to this house.
You're seeing nobody but are 28 people.
There's no flings going on here.
But do you think that, like, I think that when people on vacation, it's like you can be
whoever you want to be.
Nobody knows you.
You can change your persona.
You can be.
Yes.
You actually give that thought, though.
Oh, I mean, listen.
You and I are planning our trip to St. Martin for three weeks this year?
I'm having a vacation fling.
I'm putting you on morning now.
It's my turn.
I'm having a vacation.
Wait, do you think vacation flings are a little more exciting than normal dating at home?
Are you really asking about me who just had a date, really?
Can we?
I don't know.
I think that, you know, I sound like a, I think anything that's out of the ordinary, you know,
if you're on the beach you meet some great looking guy, it's exciting, you go and have a drink,
you dance, whatever, it's exciting.
Unfortunately, vacations, unless you've got a solution, come to an end.
And if, you know, if you're living somewhere different, I mean, it's hard, right?
So if that's why it's called a fling, it's not permanent.
This is what a fling is, and that's what a vacation is, not permanent.
Okay, tell me something.
Yeah.
Do you have, like, what's the most?
romantic place you've ever visited. Do you have one particular one or a few?
Well, it's funny you ask that because most people will tell you Paris because, you know,
it's the city of love or that New York City, I don't know. I mean, but I, I, to me,
a city in and of itself does not make romance for me. It's who I'm with. So when my husband,
nice to travel. We had a great romantic time in London. I don't, I mean, waterfalls, beautiful beaches,
sunsets, you know, all of those things for me make a romantic place. Absolutely. I remember
going to Italy, I don't know, my second or third time, and I went by myself for 15 days.
And I was in the most romantic places I've ever seen by myself. I tell you.
Yes.
Honest here.
How many flings did you have in Italy?
One.
See, that's Susan.
Shall I always just ask the question?
Lawrence is the place, and that was not the most romantic place.
That's why I just said.
It depends on the...
Wait, did you...
Do you still stand in touch with that person?
Yeah, kind of.
He's actually in Miami now and married.
Oh, well, that's called a home record.
Yeah, we'll have to visit his restaurant.
Home records, Susan, stay away from that.
I don't know.
When I was in Greece with my sister,
and we stayed at this fabulous boutique hotel.
This was two years ago.
Wait, when you were in Greece with me, the man,
well, that could have been a vacation fling.
Could have been.
He liked her.
He liked her a lot.
Shoot this little boutique hotel in Athens.
I would have stayed.
I would have stayed.
He didn't ask me.
He was trying to contact you, and you were like,
now he's too far away,
he's too young, he's new this.
He's too, that was cute.
It was cute on this.
Well, let me ask you something.
Because, you know, you've had a few flings.
Last one I had on vacation, like I said, in the eighth grade,
although I'm planning one for St. Martin this year.
Do you think, I don't, I think they're harmless.
Unless you get caught in a spider's back here.
Unless you're me, you know, and you fall.
Unless you're Susan.
What, do you think they're harmless, though?
Yeah, why not?
As long as you're okay with saying goodbye when it's over, that's my problem.
I can't just walk away and put them out of my mind.
I don't do flings, maybe.
I don't know.
See, I think flirting is one thing.
And I can do that.
But if I'm not a fling.
Hey, from where I'm sitting, Susan, from where I'm sitting,
if the guy waves at me, it's a fling.
Wait.
Oh, boy.
I dare ask this one.
You want to ask it?
I think we should skip this one.
because it lasted a year and a half.
Oh, you know, there's a little trouble in paradise right now,
but you know what?
We're just going to move on from that.
Okay.
And here's my thing.
And I've got an answer for this.
I'm going to say, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Bachelor in Paradise,
the show, is a vacation fling.
And I think, what, three permanent relationships have come out of that.
And so I do think a vacation fling can become a permanent relationship because I saw it happen.
I believe that.
Yeah, absolutely.
I think it can happen.
Whether it lasts forever or not.
I'm not talking about them, but my particular one, you know, we'll see.
Yeah.
Okay.
I'm Cynthia Lois.
And I'm Josie Dye.
And we're done pretending we have it all figured out.
Each week we laugh, cry, and talk our way through life's messiest moments.
The things you think about but would never say,
out loud.
The questions you are always too shy to ask.
Relationships, regrets, awkward moments, and the stuff no one warns you about.
It's honest, it's funny, and sometimes it gets a little uncomfortable.
But that's kind of the point.
This is Cynthia and Josie's Unmentionables.
Listen on the free IHeart Radio app or wherever you get your podcasts.
Hey guys, Paul Verze here, and I want to talk to you about Paul's best podcast.
Will Ferrell's Big Money Players Network and IHeart Radio.
I sit down each week with a special guest and we discuss the absolute
best of things.
It's that, and then there's everything else.
He would just shout one line, and it would murder.
Marie! Lunch!
No, burn.
Let's talk about the best moments that we had on the road.
I would love a cocktail.
Dude, Joe could get last row, middle seat, on a Southwest Airlines flight.
Joe, I was your flight.
It was great.
The guy on Hemp State, we were on the field, and the player thought Joe is his former coach.
And he hugged him, and he hugged him, and Joe just went with it.
And the guy goes, what are you doing here, coach?
And Joe just goes, man.
And you walk in and it is bananas.
I mean, it's a feast for the eyes.
And I was like, it's not my thing either, but we're here.
When in Rome?
Top athletes, chefs, musicians, everybody.
Listen to Paul's best podcast on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Hey, I'm Nora Jones, and I love playing music with people so much that my podcast called Playing Along is back.
I sit down with musicians from all musical styles to play songs together in an intimate setting.
Every episode's a little different, but it all involves music and conversation with some of my favorite musicians.
Over the past two seasons, I've had special guests like Dave Grohl, Leveh, Mavis Staples, Remy Wolf, Jeff Tweedy, really too many to name.
And this season, I've sat down with Joshua Hami, Sarah McLaughlin, John Legend, and more.
Check out my new episode with Phineas.
So I went home and I asked Billy if she wanted to sing it.
She immediately made it her own thing.
No faith
You really know how to make me cry
When you give me those oceans
So come hang out with us in the studio
And listen to playing along on the IHeart Radio app

In 2015, teenager Joy Morgan
discovered strangely compelling YouTube sermons
From the religious group Israel United in Christ
Or IUIC
Her initial curiosity developed into devotion
She distanced herself from friends and family, embraced new identity, immersed herself in the IUIC, and believed she'd found the truth.
I UIC is the best family that I've ever had.
In fact, she had found what many called a cult.
And on Boxing Day 2018, Joy disappeared forever.
In the new six-part investigative podcast, The Missing Sister, Charlie Brinkhurst Cuff and Freiturn, explore Joy's story, the family she left, and the religious group she found.
You know when you get that feed, I'm like, I don't want to be here.
I want to get out.
I want to go ahead and out.
It's a story about truth, lies, a young woman yearning to belong, and a family still waiting for answers.
All episodes available now to binge.
Listen to The Missing Sister on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
As parents, we have a million things running through our minds.
Play dates, checkups, laundry, diapers, work, groceries.
So it's easy to make it.
a mistake. Oh, I forgot birthday candles. We say we'd never put our kids in danger by leaving them
in the car alone. Sit tight, hon. I'll be right back. But temperatures as low as 60 degrees can be
deadly for children left behind. So always bring them with you. And every time you park the car,
stop, look, lock. Brought to you by NHTSA and the ad council. Is it ever okay to lie about where you're
from or what you do to keep things late?
I never, listen, I'm the girl who has the Google phone number.
I don't even give guys my cell number until I've had them checked out by the FBI.
So, you know, you're asking the wrong person.
I forget so much at this age.
There's no way I could lie.
I would forget.
I lied and then say something.
No, absolutely not.
I don't lie.
I mean, I don't lie about my age.
I don't lie about where I'm from.
I don't lie about, you know, being how long I was married, what happened to my husband.
But I, you know, I might lie about my weight.
Oh, please.
I can't with her.
But I don't know.
Keeping things light, I don't know.
But I would love to have a fling.
But here's the thing.
That rhymes with fling.
If you get, like you have, if you get really embroiled in a relationship and it's long distance or it's a fling and you're,
you're spending a lot of time, that can be a problem.
Right?
Yes.
I mean, if it's a fling, if it's a fling.
I wrote the book.
Yeah, Susan did write the book.
It'll be out in your nearest bookshop in about six months from now.
I don't know.
I don't think a fling necessarily has to be light.
You know, if you're younger and you're sleeping with a guy.
Or vacation, romance, like more common.
when you're younger or when you're older.
I don't think there's a difference.
I don't think there's, I don't think there's an age difference.
I think it, you know, you and I are both outgoing.
We have fun.
We laugh.
We engage with people.
We meet them at bars, restaurants.
And we're not necessarily looking for a fling.
We just like to meet people and have fun.
We like people, yeah.
Yeah, we like people.
So, you know, I think that it doesn't really,
it really depends on personality, not age.
That's what I think.
Would you be more?
likely to have some kind of vacation fling when more so in your 20s or more so now.
Now, Susan, yes.
I was married in my 20s, so I was not having a plan.
She can't answer any of these questions, ladies.
She can't do it.
Well, I can answer for Susan.
You'd have a vacation fling in your 20s, your 30s, your 40s, your 50s.
No, you're wrong, you're wrong.
You wouldn't?
Definitely now, more than then, definitely.
Well, you also were married in your 30s.
I don't know.
I don't think dating apps are available.
Yeah, because I thought about that.
I mean, I know that people meet people online on vacations.
And there's something wrong with that.
I just think for me, I'm a little more careful,
and I think it takes me a little while to get to know someone.
And if I'm in, let's call it St. Martin, because that's where you and I go,
if I'm there for a week, I don't have time.
to get a full FBI report.
That's why we go for three weeks,
that's why.
It's happening.
Wait, is this happening for me this year?
Are you going to be my wingwoman?
I'll do it.
I'm going to set you up.
I'm going to put your profile off
and just pretend on you
and answer all the questions.
Oh, God, Susan, you'll get me in trouble.
You know, that is something you would do.
All right, Kathy, I have one for you.
I could probably answer this for you,
but I'm putting it out there.
Okay, Kyle.
What is the funniest thing that ever happened to you?
on vacation.
I could write a book.
Well, the funniest thing?
I mean, I've gotten lost on vacation.
I've lost my clothes.
I mean, but do you mean dating?
If it's dating.
Not necessarily dating.
Just the funniest thing.
Just think of ours in the past, the videos we put up.
Remember the time when they changed the flight,
the pouring rain, and Nancy thought we were not going to be safe
and just getting all the way around the world against the D.C.
This is a great story.
We've got time.
This, we were all flying out at a different time.
We went up to this fabulous restaurant in St. Martin.
We were all having drinks.
We were all flying out.
I had the latest flight of all.
So I didn't care the rain was flooding our table.
I mean, literally, our feet were in the water.
It was hysterical.
And Nancy now starts panicking.
Now, Nancy's going to take issue with this saying, I did not.
But Susan, did she?
Tell the part that the skies opened up at this point.
That's what I'm saying.
It was flooding.
Huge storm.
Huge.
Huge.
huge, like deluge.
And Nancy starts panicking.
I'm not going to make the flight.
I'm sitting there going, no, what the hell?
I got two extra hours.
I'm good. And Susan doesn't worry about anything.
My phone was alerted me.
My flight had been delayed.
My flight is being delayed.
And then Nancy starts getting, oh, my God, how are we going to get home?
I said, who cares?
We stay another day or two.
Who cares?
Nancy's like, we don't have anywhere to stay.
And I was like, we'll figure it out.
That was a crazy thing.
But that's where I'm different on vacation.
when I'm in my real life at home, like,
shit happens on time.
You know, my life, I get there, I'm never late.
You know, you don't have to send me a reminder call
to get my hair down or get to the dentist or anything else.
I'm there.
On vacation, I have a mania attitude.
Whatever.
If we don't make it today, we'll do it tomorrow.
Remember Grand Casas getting lost in the darkness?
Poor Nancy, we torture that poor woman.
We're driving down the street.
The headlights are out on the car.
Nancy's freaking out.
But you know what the best thing is?
We laugh.
We have fun.
And that's what vacation, I think.
I mean, listen, if I could find the guy on vacation of a fling with,
that would truly be the icing and the cherry on top.
It's about making memories and laughter is the best thing in the world.
All right.
We could talk about this all day.
We could.
But wait, one more before.
Before we finish.
Yes.
I have to ask you.
Yes.
And I know the answer, but we're just going to let Susan answer.
Oh, she loves this part.
I love this part.
Is the fantasy of a fling sometimes better than the reality of it?
Maybe.
I love her.
Maybe.
It takes a minute to realize it, like a minute and a half even.
Yeah, or a little more.
But, okay.
All right.
So much for vacation flings.
A vacation romance.
No, because when you and I are on vacation,
literally Rome could burn and I wouldn't care.
I'm at the beach.
I'm with my friends.
I'm having fun.
This year when we go, I'm going to remind her.
I'm going to record this session.
I'm going to play it for her when she panics.
When do I panic?
Oh, you'll find a moment.
I know you will.
Yeah, all right.
We're moving on to Golden Hotline here.
Okay, so as you know, each week, y'all, we answer questions from you, our listeners,
and then we give them golden dating advice.
We might even teach you or tell you how to have a fling on vacation.
But all right.
What do you got, Susan?
Okay, first one.
Hi, ladies.
My name is Ben.
I'm 36 from Denver and yes, I'm gay.
And he puts LOL.
I don't know.
There's nothing funny about that, but I love you already.
I've been seeing someone for about six months and I really think he could be the one.
The only thing, well, that's not a first good few words there.
The only thing that makes me uncomfortable is how often he talks to the guy he was engaged to before me.
They text every week.
He insists they're just friends now.
And there's absolutely nothing romantic left between them.
I want to be mature about it.
But if I'm honest, it makes me feel like competing with a ghost.
is this insecurity on my part or would this bother you too?
Oh, darling.
This is so, yes, it's not you.
It's not you.
Anybody would feel weird.
I don't care if you're gay, by, whatever you are, straight, you know, whatever your deal is,
if somebody is texting their ex at all, never mind once a week, there's a problem.
And I'm going to say, Susan, what I've said many times before.
Ben, you actually know there's a problem because that little voice inside your head is telling you it's a problem.
But for some reason, it feels like you don't want to act on it.
You want somebody else, like Susan and me, to say, what are you nuts?
Of course there's a problem.
So, yes, in my mind, there is a problem, and I think you already know that.
The only thing I can compare this again, I'm divorced, never ever want to.
be with my ex-husband, but we are friends and we do talk.
I'm going to say again, Susan, anyone who knows, I've spent a lot of time at your house
when Dickie's been there. It's like he's the pool boy, he brings in the mail, he trims the
trees, he goes and picks up her grandchildren. It is, there is nothing romantic. You've had kids
together, you have grandkids together. That is very different.
It is, but being in a relationship with somebody new, you don't think they find that. I mean,
they have to get used to. Listen, at our age, truly, at our age, I think that is a whole different kettle
of fish. So what do we say to Ben? What do you think? You better be reading really carefully
between the lines. By the way, you're not competing with a ghost. That person is real,
alive, and breathing. Unless your guy that you're dating is writing emails to someone who's dead,
it's not a ghost.
So deal with it.
I don't need to be mean.
I do have a question for you, Ben.
Who broke up
that past relationship?
Doesn't matter.
It does matter because
the guy that Ben's with right now
might have his heart broken
and he's trying to be best friends
then I would be concerned.
I don't care.
I can't believe you said that, Susan.
I'm trying to look at the whole picture.
The whole picture is
if you're with someone, you don't try to rekindle
a relationship or a friendship with the one.
You're right. So that's it. But it doesn't, you said who broke up with whom?
It doesn't matter. It's over. You're in a new relationship, Ben,
and whoever your partner is. And if your partner, quite simply, in my
humble, not really, opinion, if you are not, if your guy
is not ready to delete and block that guy, he's not ready to take on a relationship with you.
That's, you're saying give him an ultimatum then?
No, I'm saying, no, I don't believe in ultimatums.
I don't think he's the one because he's not ready to be the one.
He might be the one you want, but I don't think Ben's guy is ready to commit to him.
So go have a fling.
That's our subject today.
Have a fling with him.
Go on vacation, have a blast.
But if you think that there isn't something between him and that other guy,
I believe you're wrong.
So I'm sorry.
It's not always that way you don't me.
I always, I live life through rose color glasses.
I try to see.
How are they working for you?
The good out of everything.
And if you just have a conversation with him and let him now,
makes you feel kind of weird.
And he pulls back a little bit, then I'm okay.
They'll be all right.
So you'd be okay.
Just before we move on.
Wait, before we move on, you'd be okay with, in this scenario, with the guy.
Probably not. Probably not. There you go. No one would be. And that's why I say, Ben already knows it's wrong.
Or he wouldn't have written us. That's what I said. He wouldn't have written in. So good luck, Ben, let us know.
Oh, Ben, I feel for you. The next one is from Ashley and she's from L.A. My boyfriend is incredibly close to this family.
And normally, I think that's a green flag. I knew what was coming here. I could have.
have written this, I knew what was coming. But his mom calls him multiple times a day, expects him to
come over every Sunday, and even has opinions about our vacation plans. If we don't spend enough
time with his family, she makes little comments that leave me feeling guilty. I don't want to
come between him and his mom, but I also want to feel like our relationship comes first. How do you
handle family boundaries without creating drama? Well, the answer to that is you don't. It causes
drama.
Regardless.
Regardless.
You're in for it, actually.
But listen, I'm here to tell you, you are exactly right to be thinking, you know, the fact that he
has to see him every Sunday.
If it's that way when you're dating, it's going to be worse when you're married.
And God help you when you have a child.
So for me, I grew up going to my nannas every single solid.
Terry Sunday all year long.
Uh-huh.
And I thought nothing of that.
What if Dickie wanted to go see his nana every Sunday and take you with him?
Well, they didn't live near me.
That doesn't matter.
The point is it wouldn't work well and it wouldn't have worked well for me.
I wonder, though, is the boyfriend, I know he's close, but when mother has something to say about
their vacations, does he listen to her every word and change the vacation because of what
mommy said or that would be an issue. It doesn't matter. It's Susan. It doesn't matter. His mother calls him
multiple times a day. I'm assuming he answers because she would have said he let it go to voicemail.
He didn't. So I don't know. Today I'm in a feisty mood. Ashley, I think you got a problem on your
hands, honey. I think you've got a problem on your hands. And I hope she likes the lady so she can get in
on it too or I mean you've got to try to make the best of it because it's never going to change.
No, wait.
Why, you couldn't handle that?
It's her boyfriend.
They're not married.
Are you out of your mind?
Could I handle going to my mother-in-laws every Sunday?
I could handle it once a month and almost killed me.
No.
God forbid the sister-in-laws, but that's another story.
I'm saying the expectation when you get married, she said calmly,
is for you and your spouse to form your traditions, your family, your life.
life. Yes, of course you're going to see
your mother, his mother and great Aunt
Matilda. Of course you're going to do those
things. But it's not
on her schedule. Ashley,
it's on yours and your boyfriend.
So Susan's right.
Have a talk with him.
But the fact that he talks to her multiple
times a day, I think you're climbing in
uphill battle. So you may want
to do that. That's his mommy.
Yeah. But they're not married
yet. So be careful. Be careful.
And you know what, Ashley, if things
don't go the way you want it to.
My advice to you, go on vacation and have a fling.
That's called the what color flag, Kathy?
Yeah, that's not a green flag.
It's a red flag, by the way, Ashley.
When someone talks to their mother five times a day, multiple times a day, that's a red flag.
That's a lot.
Listen, I just want to say thank you to Ben and Ashley for writing in today.

I would love a cocktail.
Do Joe could get last row, middle seat,
on a Southwest Airlines flight?
Joe, I was your flight.
It was great.
The guy on Penn State moving on the field,
and the player thought Joe is his former coach.
And he hugged him, and hugged him,
and Joe just went with it.
And the guy goes, what are you doing here, coach?
And Joe just goes, man.
And you walk in, and it is bananas.
I mean, it's a feast for the ice.
I was like, it's not my thing either, but we're here.

In 2015, teenager Joy Morgan discovered strangely compelling YouTube sermons from the religious group Israel United in Christ, or IUIC.
Her initial curiosity developed into devotion.
She distanced herself from friends and family, embraced new identity, immersed herself,
immersed herself in the I-UIC and believed she'd found the truth.
IUIC is the best family that I've ever had.
In fact, she had found what many called a cult.
And on Boxing Day 2018, Joy disappeared forever.
In the new six-part investigative podcast, The Missing Sister,
Charlie Brinkhurst Cuff and Freiturn explore Joy's story,
the family she left, and the religious group she found.
You know when you get out of freedom, I don't want to be here.
I want to get out.
I want to go ahead now.
It's a story about truth, lies, a young woman yearning to belong,
and a family still waiting for answers.

Talking about guns with others might not always feel comfortable, but it could save a life.
Here's a way to start a conversation.
Your family is going over to your neighbor's home for dinner for the first time.
How would you ask if there are any unlocked guns in the home?
Hey!
Hey, we're so excited for tonight.
Before we come over, though, may I ask if there are any unlocked guns in your home?
Our guns are stored securely, locked in a safe that the kids can't access.
Awesome.

Before we move on, Susan, I don't want to sound harsh, but I sounded harsh with those questions.
And to me, I think, and I want your opinion, sometimes these questions to you and I are so obvious.
Yes, because of our age, I think.
A lot has to do with the wisdom.
Well, where I was going is, yes, I agree with that.
But also, when people write in these questions, don't you think they have a little niggling,
like they're bothered by it a little bit and they know, and they're hoping for us to say.
Give them the right answer?
Yeah, or give him some.
Well, I guess I was right.
He's probably a mama's boy.
He's probably not going to go well.
When she's probably already thinking that, right?
She already knows it.
That's why she wrote it.
That's right.
So people use sometimes, we love hearing from you, keep writing.
But you know what?
Sometimes you've got to trust your own intuition.
That's what being an adult is all about.
All right.
You can submit your burning questions to us by going to bachelornation.com slash golden hour.
Come back each week and check and see if we're answering your questions.
Because you know we will.
And probably give you more advice than you ever wanted.
Okay, Susan, are you ready for our slang word of the week?
Oh, gosh, I'm so behind in this stuff, but go ahead.
Yes.
We are doing the gals, Google it again.
Here we go with the slang words.
We're going to break it down.
These are ones that people are using in dating and pop culture and you and I just need to get on the train and figure it out.
Okay, the first one, which I think applies to most young people today, is brain rot.
Brain rot is, oh, come on, it's a joke.
Brain rot is internet slang for being said.
so obsessed with something that it is taken over your thoughts, vocabulary, personality,
or sense of humor.
I don't have brain rot.
Well, I don't have brain rot either.
It's questionable whether you have brains at this point, but we certainly don't have brain rot.
And then quoting memes, nobody else understands.
So to me, you know, you can call it brain rot.
I just think people say these things like they're trying to be funny.
but is it really?
To me, what do you think?
To me, BrainRot is not getting past something
and you're dwelling on it.
It's taken over your thoughts.
That's the only thing I could come up.
Yeah.
Nothing to do with Instagram.
Well, I think people say it.
I think BrainRot is, I would say
if I were writing the definition,
it's across all social media.
When people comment,
you know,
it's like right now you know that that uh puerto rico song that everyone is doing on the internet
to me that's brain rot like really i would rather watch dust grow in the corners of my living
room floor i did it it was so much fun oh then your brain is rotted um why people find that
interesting is a whole another but what's stupider than doing it is waiting to see how many people
look to see if you know how many
how many people saw me doing that ridiculous dance
again I just think these trends
on on some of the on some social media
you know I'd rather read
war and peace dry right
yeah
all right exactly
it's called doom scrolling
doom scrolling
the habit of endlessly
scrolling through negative
dramatic
or emotionally charged content, even when you know you should stop.
I find myself on TikTok sometimes at night,
and I'm supposed to be going to go to sleep.
Mine is about music a lot.
I see a lot or dancing.
I watch dancing videos, and I just get stuck there.
Yes, but see, I don't think,
I don't, that's where I take issue with the term,
because now Kathy's going to change the definition.
You're scrolling to me is just what you just said,
you can't stop.
You start with one, and all of a sudden, two hours later, you've dug a hole,
you've dug down further than Alice in Wonderland.
You know, you are just, that's, yes, that's doom scrolling.
I'm a dooms.
And, you know, you're watching something and, oh, I'm going to turn it off.
You don't.
You watch the next episode.
You watch the next dance.
You do whatever.
And I've been guilty of it, but not, I try not to get on.
my computer or my phone too late at night because I am I call it.
I've looked at the clock.
Yeah, I've looked at the clock.
Oh my God, it's after two.
I got to turn this thing off and then your brain's still working.
So I totally understand.
Do you know, wait, you know what?
Susan dooms scrolls because Susan shops on the internet and that her life is coming.
It is doom and gloom over there because Susan.
I'm telling you what.
That's going to do it, God.
Oh, gosh.
You know what? I want to come up. I think you and I should come up with our own, our own little slang words of the week. I think we should do a thing on that. I'm going to come up with some. Let's do that. I'm going to think I'll give some thought to that.
