In early 1988, federal agents raced to track down the gang they suspect of importing millions of dollars worth of heroin into New York from Asia. Had 30 agents ready to go with shotguns and rifles and you name it. Five, six white people pushed me in the country. I'm going to have. Basically, your stay-at-home moms were picking up these large amounts of heroin. All you got to do is receive the package. Don't have to open it. Just accept it. She was very upset,
Starting point is 00:02:38 crying. Once I saw the gun, I tried to take his hand, and I saw the flash of light. Listen to the Chinatown Stang on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or anywhere you get your podcasts. Hey, everyone. Welcome back to Bed for Happy Hour. I'm Joe. And I'm Serena. And we are here today with a good friend of ours, Mr. Walls Adams. Walls, welcome to the podcast. Oh, thanks for having you guys. How you doing? Can I be honest with you? Yes, please. I'm a little hungover today. And, you know, it's my own doing, but I was overserved by myself. You know, you don't think of the bartender as being the one who overserves himself, but it happens once in a while. So, but I'll get through this, I promise. I think you will. I mean, you know what you got to get that
Starting point is 00:03:27 we have in our freezer is the you know like the Alex Earle like we have that face thing it's actually really nice like a cap Joe's mom recommended them to us she was like this is what you guys need for a headache and even better for a hangover yeah I do
Starting point is 00:03:43 dunk my face in cold water and that is chef's kiss well you have a torturous you have a you have a cold plunge right I do but it's broken now I need the new like motor to cool it down doesn't get too cold so got it
Starting point is 00:03:59 we went to disneyland last night so shout out to you know Disney owns ABC so um we uh we have to shout out the mouse we went to Disneyland uh yesterday because Sarah's about to leave for um Broadway for a while which means i'll be hanging out with you guys a lot this uh this coming year into next year um so we had our kind of a goat going away goodbye party at uh at Disneyland and it was magical other than I was overserved. Okay. Sarah loves Disney, doesn't she?
Starting point is 00:04:30 I feel like a Disney adult. She's a huge Disney fan, yeah. Yeah. She started crying at the show, like the water show last night, world of color. She was crying. She didn't cry at my wedding, our wedding, okay? But she was just moved by the colors and the music. But Amy Polar, you know, voicing the voice of whatever emotion she is,
Starting point is 00:04:56 really got her going. So, you know. Serena cries at the end of like every show we watch these days. I know. Did you cry at the end of Bachelor and Paradise? No, I didn't. I can't say I did. But we watched sinners and Bonnie's death on vampire diaries.
Starting point is 00:05:17 Bonnie's wake in vampire diaries. They get me. Yeah, let's talk a little bit about that. I mean, that's why you're here, you know. Let's talk a little bit about Bachelor in Paradise. Overall, what were your thoughts on this season? We saw that you did host the reunion. So before we get into that,
Starting point is 00:05:32 yeah, I was up and down on it, if I'm being honest, while we were doing it. I wasn't sure. I mean, we were taking big swings and trying out a lot of new stuff with a new production company. And so I think anytime you go into something where like everyone's new
Starting point is 00:05:46 and all the ideas are new, it's a little scary. But by the end of it, I really enjoyed working with Scott who's the new showrunner and now he's going to be producing The Bachelor so yeah
Starting point is 00:06:02 at first I was just like apprehensive and then when we started doing it I was like oh this is cool but you know a lot of the things that we changed I just didn't know if it was going to work like obviously bringing in the Golden's that's curveball who knows how that's going to go
Starting point is 00:06:18 you know bringing in these relationship challenges I was really into but I wasn't sure how that was going to work. And then also the money thing, you know, the bad cliche of this franchise is not being there for the right reasons. And all of a sudden you put money into it. And it's like the easiest thing to say is you're not here for the right reasons.
Starting point is 00:06:38 You're here for money. But I will say that like, you know, I've done eight seasons now. And I was pretty impressed with the fact that so many relationships were this strong, this far removed from filming. Like we did the reunion show and I was like, wow, a lot of you guys are still together, which hasn't been the case in years past. So my thought is that all these like relationship tests and money and all this kind of stuff, I think it really, it strengthened the relationships that were working. And then for the other ones, it kind of like got rid of them. And I think that going forward, it's a good kind of way to do the show.
Starting point is 00:07:20 Well, how I have a question moving forward. how are they like what are they going to do about the money thing because if I'm a new contestant coming on this show and I meet someone on the show on the new bachelor in paradise and fall in love what's to stop me and her from saying hey let's just break up at the end I'll choose the money and we'll split it like one I think that it's never vocalized But, you know, the entire season, especially when the money was introduced, was putting all these relationship tests against the couples and seeing how they responded. And it wasn't vocalized, but the final test is what do you choose? Is it the money or is it love?
Starting point is 00:08:08 And so I think there's a world in which if you choose money, you don't get anything because you failed the last test. That obviously didn't happen, but I could see there being a world where like that was the final test that you failed. All that to be said, I don't think there's any world in which we do season 11 like we did season 10. I think we'll have to pivot over to some new thing. We'll see what that is. Yeah, like pick and choose from what worked, what didn't this season and kind of evolve from there. Yeah, and I think that there were some things that really did work this season. And then I think there were some things that like Bachelnation was angry about and wanted to have come back.
Starting point is 00:08:48 And it was interesting because like halfway through the season, a lot of things started coming back. Like the song. The theme song really just started coming back. Well, it came back and then it went away again. Yeah. Yeah. It was funny too because like I'm not I'm not in the theme or the intro
Starting point is 00:09:05 until like the end of the season for some reason. And I remember being like, so when am I filming my like funny intro? And they're like, oh, we're not doing that this year. We're doing these sexy things. And I was like, guys. I know you know what you're doing, but people are going to riot about this. Like you need to have, and they're like, we're going to have like Charlie X, CX sing the song. And I was like, nope, I'm just telling you it needs to be the song that everyone knows.
Starting point is 00:09:31 And it needs to be people doing silly stuff with coconuts. And if not, people are going to riot. And then like halfway through the season, ABC, I'm sure sent the note down of like, so we need the song back. Yeah. They're like, hey, well, so actually on your itinerary today, you're going to be filming your funny intro. Yeah, I know. That was something. I had good ideas for my intro.
Starting point is 00:09:50 I've always, you know, I think about it for the year, you know, leading up to it. And they were like, no, we're doing these sexy things. And I was like, okay, no, I don't want to, like, I've got an idea for something. And we never got around to filming it. And then what they used was like this, it was like an upshot. So it's like a lot of jowl. And it's like me, like, you know, breaking off some ice from the, I know what you did last summer bit that I did with just for the, you know, the movie. and I was just like man next next season I need to make sure that like I film a proper one of
Starting point is 00:10:25 these we need less jowl less jowl forward angles yeah you know like how you do a selfie arm up you know how go ahead serena no sorry we've been doing this all day like we cannot get we're not in the same location right now so um our timing so where are you guys I'm in New York and Serena's in Toronto. Okay. Can we talk about Toronto real quick? Please. I wanted to ask you how your time was.
Starting point is 00:10:54 Oh my God. I went and filmed a new show there that will be coming out this holiday season. And I've only been to Toronto during the wintertime, which sucked because it's very cold. And I feel like no one really goes out. But I got to do it in the summer this time. And I texted you and was like, where do I go? Can I just say that Toronto has the best food scene? of like any city I've been to in a very long time.
Starting point is 00:11:20 It has a great food scene. They have some restaurants that like we went to this place. I don't know if you were able to go there. Martins. It was like one of the best restaurants I've been to in a few years. It was so good. You know, the place I went to Alouette. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:38 That's great. And then Bar Raval or Revel or something. So Martins, I think, is the same owner as Bar Ravell. Yeah. I think they're like actually right. next to each other and bar isabel that place bar isabel um you went to le swan yeah swan i like le swan yeah they do french really well they do yeah yeah but there was also a lot of spanish portuguese stuff as well anyways nothing but um good things to say about toronto i loved your your city i'm so glad
Starting point is 00:12:10 that makes me so happy i love all the toronto love that's happening these days there's so much filming here right now in the summer too which is always fun and tips going on so good times in Toronto nice um batch from paradise yeah sorry no apologies needed do you miss your tiny ass sticky bar yes I was gonna I was that's crazy that you asked that because I was going to ask that as well location yeah I missed the location just in general um like if you notice we're watching this season it's hard to funnel everyone in to talk to me. And so it's really fragmented. And so I wasn't able to do as much like doling out of advice or like having heart to hearts with people, which I do think is an important part of my job. Yeah, I noticed the like the layout. It's like giving like, you know,
Starting point is 00:13:02 big comfy couch shape like and everyone's kind of got their spot. But you're kind of kept at a like the size of the bar is you're like a significant physical distance from the people sitting at the bar and then we used to all corral around your bar so it would be like a group situation whereas everyone's very like pocketed off in their pairs like spread out like definitely a different layout which I thought was interesting yeah I think that if we do the show again we'll think about things differently because you know originally they were like you're going to be in the pool bar so everyone's going to swim up to you which in theory sounds really cool. And then I was like, but how often is everyone in the pool all the time?
Starting point is 00:13:43 And it was very, very funny. Yeah. And that was the other thing is that then we have to have people over there with booms trying to pick up the sound for them because they were in the pool. And then they ended up just like kind of prowling behind me where there was no camera coverage. And I was like, guys, this isn't working. You have to put me up there. And so yeah, like I miss the, I miss Ayalida in that respect of like it funneled everyone to me. And then, you know, Batser Nation, like, became aware of, like, the slang that we would use for that old place, like Jungle Path or Boom Boom Room or Hobbit Hole and all this kind of stuff. And so it became almost like a character, like the steps leading down to Paradise was like a character. Daybeds. There's no daybeds.
Starting point is 00:14:30 No day beds, no murder bird, no crabs. So that's stuff that, like, I do miss. Hey, everybody, this is Matt Rogers. And Bowen-Yang. And you're never going to guess who's our guest on Lost Cultureistas. It is Bradley Jackson, L. Woods, Tracy Flick, herself. Reese Witherspoon. It must go in a girls' trip.
Starting point is 00:14:54 I have to have a tequila. We must. Oh! The Q rating. When they run diagnostic on you. We can run it on you guys. I'd be scared. I don't run the Q rating.
Starting point is 00:15:05 No, on the Q rating is I get it. My resiliency score is down to adequate Because we were on a red eye My resiliency score My grit! I got to get my grit score up. Now don't think that you're going to come out Los Culturistas, the podcast
Starting point is 00:15:22 And we're not going to at least bring up Big Little Lai of Season 3. Whoever said orange is the new pink. We seriously disturbs. Listen to Las Culturistas on the Iheart Radio app, Apple podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. All right, West West,
Starting point is 00:15:39 Prop here from Hood Politics with Prop Podcasts. You already know our get-down. If you grew up in our urban areas of comfort of struggle, you understand politics much more than you giving credit for. Fans taking over American cities, government hop-out boys, hopping out the van, snatching up your Theo and them, two wars that was supposed to be solved in 24 hours.
Starting point is 00:15:59 Jerry just out here mandering all over the place, the turfs, and of course the Epstein of it all. Well, this week we decided to shoot our shot, And boy, did we pull up from the logo to see if we could get somebody to come tap in with us. And the one and only Jamil Hill pulled up from this politics podcast to keep it a whole century. Because in America, what sells in politics are narratives and storylines. It's like we treat politics like we treat sports, which is part of the reason why we're in the situation we're in right now. Listen to the hood politics with prop podcasts on the IHard Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:16:37 In early 1988, federal agents raced to track down the gang they suspect of importing millions of dollars worth of heroin into New York from Asia. We had 30 agents ready to go with shotguns and rifles and you name it. But what they find is not what they expected. Basically, your stay-at-home moms were picking up these large amounts of heroin. They go, is this your daughter? I said yes. They go, oh, you may not see her for like 25 years. Caught between a federal investigation and the violent gang who recruited them, the women must decide who they're willing to protect and who they dare to betray.
Starting point is 00:17:21 Once I saw the gun, I tried to take his hand and I saw the flash of light. Listen to the Chinatown Stang on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or anywhere you get your podcasts. It may look different, but Native culture is. very alive. My name is Nicole Garcia, and on Burn Sage, Burn Bridges, we aim to explore that culture. It was a huge honor to become a television writer because it does feel oddly, like, very traditional. It feels like Bob Dylan going electric, that this is something we've been doing for hundreds of years. You carry with you a sense of purpose and confidence. That's Sierra Teller Ornellis, who with Rutherford Falls became the first native showrunner in television history.
Starting point is 00:18:04 On the podcast, Burn Sage Burn Bridges, we explore her story, along with other Native stories, such as the creation of the first Native Comic-Con or the importance of reservation basketball. Every day, Native people are striving to keep traditions alive while navigating the modern world, influencing and bringing our culture into the mainstream. Listen to Burn Sage, Burn Bridges, on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm Jemail Hill, host of the Sports and Politics Podcasts Politics. And on the latest episode of Politics, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries joins me for a candid conversation about the state of the Democratic Party. What do Republicans say to you privately that they won't say publicly? Many of them are in fear of their political lives. And that's been part of the challenge.
Starting point is 00:18:55 But we continue to say to them, you were elected to defend your constituents, to stand up for your constituents. And there's life after Congress. And you should be willing to actually want to be able to look back on your time in the House of Representatives knowing that you can keep your head held high because you did the right thing. Donald Trump is gone in three and a half years. But their legacy or their failure to stand up to the extremism and the unprecedented assault on America as we know it will be with them forever. Make sure to listen to Spolitics on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you you get your podcast
Starting point is 00:19:34 let's let's jump into the reunion real quick so one of the main topics was you know cat at the end she's got a boyfriend according to Sean and Alicia then Sean says he has receipts and nowadays if you're going to say you have receipts usually you have receipts they come to the reunion without receipt What's your take on the whole thing?
Starting point is 00:20:06 Yeah, I'm disappointed. I'm disappointed in a lot of things. Mainly, I'm annoyed that there wasn't a camera with him when he called this guy right off the show. You know, like that would have for sure. And then like a SWAT team going through Kat's bag. Yeah. Exactly. Or me, like me and Hannah with like a magnifying glass, you know?
Starting point is 00:20:27 Yes, exactly. Why didn't we do that? I remember when I heard about this, like while we were still filming, I was like, he's got his phone and he's what? And then no one called or no one filmed him. So I was really excited for him to come to this reunion show to show the receipts. And then he didn't. So then I'm like, well, what's true? What's not?
Starting point is 00:20:52 Yeah. Like now it's really hard for me to believe you. Like it's a he said, she said situation. Well, he kind of took a step back too. from like you had the phone during filming to you had it in the holding hotel. Yeah. Which is a totally different situation.
Starting point is 00:21:06 Absolutely. Like my takeaway is that I think a lot of these folks had, were dating people coming into the show. And I don't think there's really anything wrong with that. I think that's, this is actually the most honest a cast has been about it.
Starting point is 00:21:23 Because even Andrew kind of jumped up and was like, I was dating people before we went too. Like I feel like a few people were like, we were all doing this just, no one talks about it because it's kind of seen as taboo. Yeah, I agree. And like, even Andrew was like, okay, but now that we're together and he was like, Alex, you need to make sure all your side pieces know that like I'm in the mix. And I was like, oh, okay. So yeah, I agree with you. I think that everyone's way too good looking
Starting point is 00:21:47 to not have had like some relationships before the show started. And that's now kind of what I'm going with when it comes to Kat is, yeah, sure, she probably was kind of dating someone maybe on and off, but she went on the show, so that means it's kind of off, I guess. I don't know. Yeah, she came on and described it as like he was on the roster. Like, he was in the mix, but, like, there was no, like, exclusive relationship happening with this person. Yeah, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:22:15 I don't know how I feel about it. Like, I get it. I get, and I think you could, I think, I don't know. I don't know. It's a gray area. Yeah. I just wish we could have flown him in. Get this guy in here.
Starting point is 00:22:27 Let's fly. Get him to the reunion. Yeah. What did you think about the other big piece of drama that happened during their reunion, which was the fight between Bailey and Jeremy and then Alex and Andrew. Yeah. I think that I think that Andrew had a leg to stand on a little bit. If everything that he said was true is true,
Starting point is 00:22:51 then I understand where he's coming from. He, you know, him saying like, we invited you guys. First of all, we called and apologized or Alex called. and apologized. And then we had you guys in Chicago and we all hung out and you stay with us or whatever. And then we apologized again. And then you went on a podcast and kept on kind of like piling it on. I think it's just deflection like almost on everyone's part. But I understood where like Andrew and Alex are coming from. I think that Alex made a mistake and then she owned up to it. So I respect her for that. Like no one's going to go through paradise totally unscathed,
Starting point is 00:23:25 right? Like it's an impossibility. And as long as you can just like, own that like hey i made a huge mistake and i'm sorry and i should have told you but like i was close to her friends but jeremy or whatever his thing her thing was is fine um so yeah i it's still is it's wild to me though that like and i love everyone but it's wild to me that like still somehow it's not jeremy's fault it's alex's fault or it's andrew's fault you know like what i say on the show is like i think i'm taking crazy pills and i still feel this way yeah And I feel like people were so happy, like us included, to see you say that. Because watching it, I'm like, this cast is gaslighting me.
Starting point is 00:24:08 Like, I think I know what's going on here, but they're making me question my reality. And I feel like you also felt that way being in the mix. Absolutely. I also told all of them because I heard about what was happening. And it's not my place to tell Bailey about what's going on. That would be real manipulative. of the situation, right? But I had heard from, a lot of people knew, right?
Starting point is 00:24:33 Yeah. So many people knew that Hannah and I knew. And how did you feel then about Spencer at the reunion being like, I hear 12 rumors a day, most of them aren't true? I think that's, you know, that's a stretch. Yeah. When I heard that, I was like, that's a stretch. I said, sure.
Starting point is 00:24:52 But like, this one, though. Like, what about this one? Yeah. I don't know. I think that Spencer is really good at keeping his nose clean, right? Like he kind of doesn't want anything to do with it. So I give him grace on that whole thing. But yeah, like I, Hannah and I both had talked to a lot of cast members on camera being like,
Starting point is 00:25:19 it's wild that no one's telling her. Yeah. And then I remember a couple cast members were like, really? You think so? And I'm like, what are you talking about? What was blowing my mind, I was like, you know this is going to be on TV, right? Like, you guys are going to have to go to some reunion show and watch these clips back, right? And they're like, yeah, but, you know, it's not our place.
Starting point is 00:25:40 And, you know, I, this, this younger generation is, is like, they're really great about being like, that's your problem, not my problem, you know? Yeah. Yeah, but I will say, like, if I, if I just go back to like our paradise, if I found out that it was happening, to someone I don't I mean I may have just been like hey like I'm dealing with my own shit right now yeah I mean what about that like did you have any grace for like the people that are in working on the relationship what's what like what I don't know I mean I guess I was involved in everything I was involved in everything so I probably would have yeah I was going to say Joe you'd be the first one to be like Jeremy you need to leave well there's a lot of people
Starting point is 00:26:25 that I would have kicked off that beat just watching this whole season I was like there's a lot of people that have to go right now because you're not following the rules there are rules coming on to this beach and a lot of you are not following them yeah i think they rewrote the rules this year for sure yeah i think it's um everything was different and then and then when there was money involved right and like you know the the the really like finding out whose relationship was the most it was the strongest um or like iron clad it seemed like a perfect opportunity to be like hold on a second who's here for the right reasons you know yeah it blew me away but it is what happened the right reasons i'm glad
Starting point is 00:27:11 the kind of went out the window yeah i feel like no win this season that i feel like was the biggest difference between past seasons this seasons is like the policing of ethics and the rules of paradise everyone was like do what you want i don't care just don't expose me for what I'm doing behind the scenes I won't expose you every man for themselves keep your mouth shut and we're going to do whatever we want down here whereas I feel like in the past it's like everyone's looking around being like you're not following the rules you're not following the rules you got to go and like what like do you agree what did is that how it felt 100% and it's this is going to get like really um like lost in the weeds here but it's because the show is different
Starting point is 00:27:53 right it's a game show now so now you it's money's involved there's There's someone there that's, like, making sure that no one is manipulating this for someone to win. So it became, it was such a hands-off season. Like, it was just, you guys are living in this world. We're just filming all of it. This one was very much like whatever decisions that they make, they make. Like, when Susie and Justin left, I remember thinking, this is wild. These are two of our biggest stars.
Starting point is 00:28:26 and they're gone in an episode? I couldn't believe it. I was like, I can't believe they're letting them leave right now. Like, there's just no, there's just no way. But going back to what I was saying was like, this one, it was refreshing because it was authentic,
Starting point is 00:28:41 but for the person that's like making a TV show, I'm like, oh no, we're losing such big stars. But also like, that's just what happened. Like we didn't know what she was going to do. She said, no, I couldn't believe it. It blew my mind. It was amazing television. But then I was like,
Starting point is 00:28:55 what's going to happen to me? Yeah Hey everybody This is Matt Rogers And Bowen Yang And you're never going to guess Who's our guest on Lost Cultureistas It is Bradley Jackson

Starting point is 00:29:26 I'd be scared. Run the Q rating. No on the Q rating on us. My resiliency score is down to adequate because we were on a red eye. My resiliency score. My grit. I got to get my grit score up. Now, don't think that you're going to come out Lost Culture East.
Starting point is 00:29:45 That's the podcast. And we're not going to at least bring up Big Little Lies season three. Whoever said orange is the new pink. We seriously disturbs. Listen to Las Culturistas on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. All right, West West, Prop here from Hood Politics with Prop Podcasts. You already know our get-down. If you grew up in our urban areas of comfort of struggle, you understand politics much more than you giving credit for.
Starting point is 00:30:12 Fans taking over American cities, government hop-out boys hopping out the van, snatching up your Theo and them. Two wars that were supposed to be solved in 24 hours. Jerry just out here mandering all over the place. the turfs. And of course, the Epstein of it all. Well, this week we decided to shoot our shot and boy, did we pull up from the logo to see if we could get somebody to come tap in with us.
Starting point is 00:30:35 And the one and only Jamil Hill pulled up from this politics podcast to keep it a whole century. The American public is used to being entertained. We're a consumption society. So what Trump figured out is entertain them and they'll never question you. Listen to the hood politics with prop podcasts
Starting point is 00:30:52 on the IHard Radio app, Apple Podcast or wherever you get your podcast. In early 1988, federal agents race to track down the gang they suspect of importing millions of dollars worth of heroin into New York from Asia. We had 30 agents ready to go with shotguns and rifles and you name it. But what they find is not what they expected. Basically, your stay-at-home moms were picking up these large amounts of heroin. They go, is this your daughter? They said, yes.
Starting point is 00:31:25 They go, oh, you may not see her for like 25 years. Caught between a federal investigation and the violent gang who recruited them, the women must decide who they're willing to protect and who they dare to betray. Once I saw the gun, I tried to take his hand, and I saw the flash of light. Listen to the Chinatown Sting on the IHeart Radio app,

My name is Nicole Garcia, and on Burn Sage, Burn Bridges, we aim to explore that culture. It was a huge honor to become a television writer, because it does feel oddly, like, very traditional. It feels like Bob Dylan going electric, that this is something we've been doing for a hundred of years. You carry with you a sense of purpose and confidence. That's Sierra Teller Ornelis, who with Rutherford Falls, became a very much. the first native showrunner in television history. On the podcast, Burn Sage Burn Bridges,
Starting point is 00:32:30 we explore her story, along with other Native stories, such as the creation of the first Native Comic-Con or the importance of reservation basketball. Every day, Native people are striving to keep traditions alive while navigating the modern world, influencing and bringing our culture into the mainstream. Listen to Burn Sage, Burn Bridges on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. I'm Jemel Hill, host to the Sports and Politics Podcast Politics. And on the latest episode of Politics, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries joins me for a candid conversation about the state of the Democratic Party. What do Republicans say to you privately that they won't say publicly? Many of them are in fear of their political lives. And that's been part of the
Starting point is 00:33:17 challenge. But we continue to say to them, you were elected to defend your constituents, to stand up for your constituents. Make sure to listen to Spolitics on the iHeart radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. After it all, who do you think is the strongest relationship?
Starting point is 00:34:07 Well, I think you see how strong Spencer and Jess are. Like, I think that was really showcased. Well, I think that we got so lost in the weeds with the Jeremy Bailey of it all that the thing that got left in the cutting room floor was how cute. the Andrew and Alex relationship was. And like while it was happening in front of me, they're the couple that I was like, you guys,
Starting point is 00:34:29 I really like watching your love story because they're both weirdos, but like authentically themselves, which it's hard to do when a camera's being pointed at you. And it was like kind of a slower burn. You know, I don't know what season, I can't remember what season you are,
Starting point is 00:34:47 but like, but what Jess and Spencer remind me, of was Dylan and Hannah. It was like, okay, you guys are going to get engaged at the end of this right in the beginning, right? And then there are some relationships that you see like kind of evolve and grow and that was more of the Andrew and Alex thing. And I really appreciated watching their love story. And I was bummed that I think a lot of it was left from the cutting room floor for the drama, which I understand. But yeah, they're really cute. I have a lot of respect for all the couples. But I like them. They're like the cutest to me. They're really cute. I think they're a good
Starting point is 00:35:26 fit too. Yeah. I was happy about them. How did you feel hosting the reunion? How did you prepare? What were you nervous about? How did I prepare? I, well, I talked with a producer and we kind of figured out all the stuff that we needed to get through. I mean, we had a lot of leeway because we had a much bigger chunk of time to be able to do it, which is kind of nice. Like it was a blessing and a curse. I think it was too bad. It wasn't on TV and Jesse hosting it because I think the fans really wanted it. But when you do that on TV, you've got to truncate it down to a very, very small window,
Starting point is 00:36:05 whereas this one was nice because it was just really wide open. And we got to talk about kind of everything. What I wanted to do was I really wanted to try to like emulate. Andy Cohen on what see what happens live like that his whole thing of he kind of just moderates and then asks questions that the fans have and then let's that kind of drive conversation I I really you know I've been on his show because of traders and stuff and so I liked how he did it so that's what I was kind of emulating if you watch it back things I was nervous about logistically I wanted everyone to be with a with a law of Mike or La Pelle
Starting point is 00:36:48 Like, you know, all these, they don't know where it's an SM 58 kind of in front of them or kind of behind it. You know, some people are on top of it. And so, like, I knew as like the sound engineer radio guy from my past, I was like, this is not going to sound like I want it to sound, you know. Yeah, there was one point where Jeremy, I was like listening to it being like, lean into the mic, Jeremy. I know. Then I also wanted to be like, all right, just send me this audio. Let me normalize it. let me fix it. I can do this.
Starting point is 00:37:19 Yeah. But I will say the isolation of audio, like of everyone's voices. I was actually impressed by that because I was like, I don't know how they're going to do this with everyone talking over each other. Well, so I had a conversation with them before we started filming being like, okay, I used to be a radio host and just let me tell you what's going to happen. If you have two people talking at the same time, no one's talking. No one's going to be able to hear it because everyone's talking over one another. So if you want to say something, say something and then let that person feel. before someone else starts speaking, otherwise your point will get lost and we'll probably have to cut it because it'll sound like trash. And so they understood that and then they kind of respected that, which was nice. That's good. Yeah. Moving forward, the show is somewhat of a hybrid
Starting point is 00:38:04 right now. It's a competition show. It's a love show. It's a little bit of both. What do you want to see out of the cast? Do you want to see more hot shons where they're trying to win the game or more spencers where they're it's all about love like this is a love show for me i i think i i really liked that all the stuff we kind of put them through made them stronger i i liked that i think that that's been some that's the problem that we've had in the past is that like people will get comfortable and then they kind of coast to the end of the show and they're it's not that interesting, you know, like the end of the show, a lot of times you're just like, okay, what's going on? They'll bring people in where no one wants to date them, you know, because they're already
Starting point is 00:38:52 teamed up and you're like, I don't know what's going on. So I do like the new ideas that we brought in. But, you know, I still am a romantic at heart. So I think I want a combination of the two. I don't know. I think that a lot of people were angry about the money. And I'll say this, if the mission statement of this whole show is to hopefully have people get engaged and like start a life together because that was the big knock on seasons past or like the last season that we did was that it wasn't successful right yeah um like bachelor nation wants to they have stakes in it right like they want the relationships to work and if they are going to work i think that you need i think money helps i think money helps
Starting point is 00:39:43 with moving someone to someone else or them getting an apartment together or whatever it is. And so, yeah, if we're trying to do this thing of like we would like people or someone to get engaged, I do think that a monetary like win helps make that transition easier. Does that make sense? Definitely. I agree. I mean, it would have helped. I would have taken it.
Starting point is 00:40:08 Yeah, I would have paid for all my immigration fees for it. I also think like I know there's been a lot of criticism about the games but having been contestants the relationship compatibility tests would have been fun I mean some more than others but like it would have been like okay like we're not going on dates we're not going and doing things we're not meeting each other's friends putting each other in like new environments where we can like you can only learn so much about each other on the confines of this beach so it does give you insight into other elements of these people's personalities that you're dating. Like, I liked the treasure hunt one. I know that like, you know, with the walkie talkies. And I feel like it was,
Starting point is 00:40:48 you know, seeing the way Kat and Dale worked together versus Jess and Spencer, not one being better than the other. But you just, you learn a lot. I thought that was kind of a fun addition. I agree. You, like, you found out how competitive Dale was in that last one, right? Like, yeah. You might want to know that if like you're not a competitive, like if Kat wasn't competitive or whatever, like, yeah, you probably would have never found that out unless they had done something like that. So I agree with you. It's also a really important thing when you're dating somebody is to know what they're like when they're a little tipsy, right? Yeah. And so it's kind of a similar thing of like, I like those challenges because it showed, it showed things that you need to know
Starting point is 00:41:28 if you're going to take that next leap of getting engaged or leaving together. Yeah. Well, it's so funny because being on the show, like on our season, I remember thinking like, what if we get out of here? blacking out every night like what's going down yeah but i mean i was friends with wells so i was able to i was able to drink on that show you wells uh wells uh thank you so much for taking the time and uh we love talking to you and hopefully i see you in new york soon and that's all we got for you yeah love you guys good to see you and yeah i'll be in um in new york and then yeah also we we all have to go see sarah's new show the bobby day story with jonathan groff um yeah cool in the square Definitely.
Starting point is 00:42:09 Yes, we would love to. We saw her in Little Shop of Hors, and she's so freaking talented. Like, she's really talented. I didn't realize all of her talents until I saw that. And then I was also watching about her family at the same time. So my perception- Who is this person? She's amazing.
Starting point is 00:42:25 My perception of Sarah Highland has changed. Like, I'm definitely, like, I'm a fan, you know? Okay. It's funny because, you know, after the reunion show, went out and, by the way, I love Jeremy, I love Bailey, I love everybody. And I said that thing in the show where I was like, and it's it just me or is Bailey like way out of his league? Like this guy is redder than a tomato and he's like sleeping all the time.
Starting point is 00:42:49 And he was like, do you really think that? You really think that she's out of my league? And I was like, 100%. By the way. But it's a compliment. It's a compliment. Sarah was sitting right next to Bailey. And I was like, 100%.
Starting point is 00:42:59 He was like, what? And I'm like, buddy, I'm the king of knowing when you've out kicked your coverage. All right. So just be happy. that you've done this. And he was like, you're right, you're right, you're right. I love that part.
Starting point is 00:43:16 And to all our listeners, thank you guys so much for tuning in to Betcher Happy Hour. Make sure you download and subscribe to the podcast. We have new and exclusive interviews every single week.

Starting point is 00:43:36 more than you giving credit for. Between Jerry out here, Mandarin all over the place, hop-out boys snatching up family members and two wars that was supposed to be done in 24 hours. Not to mention Epstein. We had to reach out to the homie, Jamil Hill, because she's going to keep it a century. In America, what sells in politics are narratives and storylines. It's like we treat politics like we treat sports, which is part of the reason why we're in the situation we're in right now.
