Hello, I'm Jess Milton, and I am so excited to welcome you back for Season 2 of Backstage at the Vinyl Cafe. Each week, we'll have two Dave and Morley stories. Some will make you laugh. Well, for instance, the year your father waited until the last minute to get a pumpkin, and when he finally went out, every place he went to was sold out. Sam turned to Tommy and said, he came home with a watermelon. And he spray-painted the watermelon orange, said Marley. Some will make you think. It is the tug of beauty. It is the tug of beauty, the awareness that there are things in the world that move us.

Music and poetry, paint perfectly rendered, a building well done, big blue skies and big blue moons. And sometimes, when you're very lucky, things so small and soft you would never imagine. A little glimpse, a little smile, the ever so light touch of a hand on yours. And some will make you laugh so hard water squirts out of your nose. One Sunday morning, Albert, unshaven and exhausted, looked at her and said, It's either me or the dog. Dorothy felt a great sense of freedom wash over her.
