Starting point is 00:00:17 Taco salad for ourselves. Hello everybody and welcome to Bad Hasbara. Brr. The world's most moral podcast I just pulled in just in time. And boy, are my arms tired. Boy are my arms sales to Israel tired. My name is Matt Leib. I will be your most moral co-host for this podcast.
Starting point is 00:00:54 My name is Daniel Mate, and I would. drive 9,000 miles just to be the man who drove 9,000 miles to be back for this podcast. I really love that song. And I really love all of you out there out on the internet listening to this through their podcast apps or watching this through your YouTube's or your substacks or your patrons, whichever you choose in order to listen to us, we thank you. I am not at my usual home studio, as you can tell, by the video that you are watching and probably a little bit of the audio that you're hearing
Starting point is 00:01:38 because I'm using not as good of a mic. I'm over at my mother-in-law's house in the Bay Area. Once again, it is a two-week vacation with my family. So we made a deal that I could do. one podcast recording while I was on vacation. And guys, I chose bad has barra, just so you know. You guys, this is the one. I told all my other podcasts, they say, hey, fuck off, right?
Starting point is 00:02:08 I don't need you. Suck it, Vince. Fuck you. Fuck all you. You know, because I just really, you know, we have just so much news, so much to talk about. And I also knew that Daniel would be back. So I thought it would be fun to, you know, have him back and his home studio while I'm, you know, in this weird backlit fucking office.
Starting point is 00:02:29 Yeah, you're not in your usual studio and I'm unusually in mine. I know. It's unusual. It's not unusual to podcast on vacation. Get it? Your ability to mangle syllables in the pursuit of lyrical whatever. Like I actually admire it. Like in, in my genre, in musical theater, it's completely.
Starting point is 00:02:53 Harrah. Like it's so uncocious, I can't even tell you. I sit in theater. Like, and whenever, like, and so many musical theater writers will cut corners, like a half rhyme here, you know, a fake salable, the prosody, the scantion is off. And it, I just, it makes me cringe because in theater, you can't do that. And so I don't let myself do it ever. And the freedom, the flagrant freedom with which you allow yourself to just molest the pronunciation of English word. words to make them fit the syllables of the songs you're parodying. And this can't show. I take off my,
Starting point is 00:03:29 I take off my, my chapeau to you, sir. I tip my musical theater hat to you. It's very impressive. You know, that's the thing about not abiding by any rules, you know? Ain't no rules can hold Matt Lee when he's writing a parody song. I mean, listen, I lucked out with vacation
Starting point is 00:03:53 on. You know? Give us five stars in a review on whatever app you are using to listen to this podcast. Please subscribe. He has no parody in the game of parody. Thank you so much, producer Adam, on the ones and two. Shout out to him. No homophone.

Starting point is 00:06:26 Daniel. What's up, sir? What's the spin? The spin today. I got a few records. I'm very excited about. Okay. This soundtrack was hard to find,
Starting point is 00:06:39 but I was very happy to find it. This is the pump-up-the-volume soundtrack. Oh, sir. Christian Slater. Christian Slater. And Samantha Morton. Who else was in this movie? There was some...
Starting point is 00:06:50 Oh, Ellen Green from Little Shop of Horrors, played a kindly guidance council. This is about a high school like underground DJ. It's all about freedom of speech because they try to shut him down because he talks too much truth to his fellow Gen X teenagers. I know what that's like.
Starting point is 00:07:05 Yeah. I speak too much truth. Movie did more for Jeeps in the Army. Yeah. And the soundtrack is fantastic. You got everybody knows the Leonard Cohen song performed by Concrete Blonde Bond. You got a Sly and the Family Stone cover by Liquid Jesus. You got the Pixies. You got bad brains featuring Henry Rollins. You got Soundgarden. You got Sonic Youth. You got the Cowboy Junkies. So it's a fantastic album. Really seminal piece of my teenagehood. So I'm glad to have that.
Starting point is 00:07:32 I love it. I love a little Daniel Seaman. Excuse me? Seminal. Oh, seminal. Yeah, yeah. Very good. This is a group that at the time they were out, I would have said, were overrated. And now I think I underrated them. by thinking they were overrated, which is Stone Temple Pilots. Oh, interesting, yeah. Tiny music songs from the Vatican gift shop. It's got Big Bang Baby on it. And yeah, they were a really interesting band.
Starting point is 00:07:59 When I first heard them, I'm like, oh, you're just ripping off Pearl Jam. But that was only one song, really. It was what, plush? Plush, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It had that exact interval, you know. Anyway.
Starting point is 00:08:12 Yeah. That is true. That is the Pearl Jam interval. Yeah, yeah. the even flow. Yeah. Well, that's crazy. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:22 I never thought of it like that, but that's exactly what it is. It's the Pearl Jam Tritone. Hey, man, you stole our interval. That's us. Speaking of Seattle band's Mud Honey. Okay. Hell yeah. Right.
Starting point is 00:08:37 I think this is their, it's just their debut, Mud Honey. Yeah. This is an interesting story behind this record. it's Sunny Rollins, the bridge. Now, Sunny Rollins died recently, the great Tanner Sacks player. He retired at a certain point in the early 60s, I think,
Starting point is 00:08:55 a three-year sabbatical from 59 to 61. And most days of it, like six days a week, I think, he would go to the middle of the Williamsburg Bridge, which is the closest bridge into Manhattan from where I live. He would stand in the middle of it and just practice for like 10 hours a day. In the middle of the bridge?
Starting point is 00:09:14 He was the Hassan Piker. of the Williamsburg Bridge. He was live streaming from the bridge. He was live streaming saxophone. And then he came out with this album called The Bridge. This is his comeback album. Oh, I love that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:27 Was there, I guess there's a place on the bridge where pedestrians can go, I assume? No, he was just dodging traffic while he played. Honestly, all the New York bridges have great. I only know from bridges, the, you know, Golden Gate Bridge and the Bay Bridge. in the Perkinis Bridge, all the Bay Area bridges, and for the most part, you can't walk on them. No, there's lots of people who walk to work. They walk from Brooklyn to Manhattan to go to work,
Starting point is 00:09:53 or they take their bikes. I love that. Yeah. At least the three lower bridges, Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Williamsburg all have walkways. I was at a record store. I think it was in Toronto. Maybe it was in Montreal.
Starting point is 00:10:05 I forget. And they were playing a record, and I was like, who is this? This group is good. It's like, they're called Lucius. And I said, wow, I need that record. So this is Lucius's, album, Wild Woman, Wide Woman, Wild Woman, from Wide Woman.
Starting point is 00:10:20 Um, no wide chicks. Lots of white chicks. All the chicks. Love white chicks. Women, just women. Women. Uh, of all kinds. Big women, large women.
Starting point is 00:10:32 Yeah. And these are, these are some talented women. Okay. Largely talented women. Yeah, Lucius, good album. Lucius, good name. And then finally, because I drove, because I drove through the Maritimes, at least part of them. I went through like Eastern Quebec and New Brunswick. I had to pick up some maritime
Starting point is 00:10:48 music. I did not go to Newfoundland, but this is a record. I would be delighted, but very surprised if it was on streaming. It's called Little Newfee boy by Ray Johnson. Newfie being the diminutive and also, yeah, yeah, the diminutive, the diminutive, but also the pejorative for Newfoundlanders. Oh, interesting. I didn't know it was like a slur. You know Polack jokes, right? Of course I do. So, Newfee jokes are the equivalent in Kenya. Really? Yeah. I love that. How many Newfis does it take
Starting point is 00:11:19 to, what is it, a light bulb? Turn on a light bulb? God. No, I feel real Polish right now for not remembering this joke. You know, how many, whatever does it take to turn a light bulb? Turn? Can't be that. How many Zionists does it take to screw in a light bulb? Screw in, screwing. How many? five four to do the work and one to do it sorry one to do the work who would actually have to be
Starting point is 00:11:48 probably a Palestinian citizen of Israel and four to accuse you of anti-Semitism got it yeah I like it hey you know what maybe maybe before we'll start writing some jokes before we tell them you know what I mean we'll do our best oh thank you producer Adam also wrote in the private chat Screw in, screw in. Thank you for trying to fill in my brain fart, producer Adam. That's why you're the best. How many flies does it take to screw in a light bulb? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:12:18 Two, but how did they get in there? Through the fence? No, how did they get into the light bulb to screw? I asked how many it takes to screw in a light bulb. Well, guys, that's the spin this week. And boy, boys, is it spinning out of control? playlist, by the way, someone recently alerted us on Patreon that the, what's a spend playlist is now on title as title. Yeah, which I didn't know was still around. I'm glad that
Starting point is 00:12:50 there are some people who are not using Spotify for their music choices. I'm not a big divest from the evil billionaire app Spotify and go and support the evil billionaire app title. That's right. Yeah. You know, support Beyonce and Jay in their quest to do Illuminati shit or whatever. Yeah, to further run this town. That's right. So today's episode is going to be just Daniel and I. We, uh, excuse me, uh, just Daniel and me, uh, and I and I.
Starting point is 00:13:28 We, uh, we, yeah, if you're, if you're going to say Daniel and I, you got to add the extra eye. That's right. Yeah. Just Daniel and I and I, uh, we are, uh, we are, uh, we are, uh, we are, uh, we are. going solo as a duo this week. So we can just jump right into it. We don't even need, you know, to do a whole, you know, there's no guests waiting in
Starting point is 00:13:47 the wings going like, Jesus, fucking Christ, how long is this intro? Nah, baby, just us. We could stretch it some more. I could ask you how your drive was. You could ask me how my drive was. You know, we could stretch this thing out like, like fucking string cheese. Like stretch Armstrong. Yeah, I mean, like, listen, for those of you, I can't.
Starting point is 00:14:07 you know, sometimes I'm surprised by the amount of people who, and it's actually not that many, but there will be the occasional people who are like, you guys do like, you know, 15 minutes of intro before you even start the show. And I'm like, as soon as you see us, the show has started. That's correct. What are you like waiting, you know, with bated breath for more of the world's worst fucking news? What do you want? Come on. Sometimes people got a vibe first, right? you know what I'm saying? People got to
Starting point is 00:14:39 just be human for a second before we talk about the worst shit fucking ever. Buy me a drink first before you try to ram genocidal news down my throat. Exactly, exactly. But we do have news
Starting point is 00:14:58 and not great news, not a really not a story that is uncommon in the West Bank, but is a story that is making headlines. So we're going to talk about it. Well, and it had a little bit of a twist to it. Yeah, it was a bit of a twist.
Starting point is 00:15:19 This past Friday, three days ago, as of, you know, as we're recording this, four Palestinians and two Israelis were killed when a group of settlers attacked the village of Tell in the northern West Bank. one of the Palestinians involved disarmed a member of the Israeli quote civil security squad and killed him with his own gun along with an IDF commander. The incident began when several dozen settlers claiming to be hikers entered the village of Tel. And when Palestinians arrived to attempt to force them out, the settlers opened fire on them. The settlers left and returned later with members of the Civil Defense Squad from a nearby settlement and continued stoking violence, including striking a child with a weapon. Binyahu Mellet, 32, the leader of the civil defense militiamen from... Bin Yahu is what happens when, you know, if someone gets Benjamin Netanyahu's full name tattooed on their cock.
Starting point is 00:16:31 That's right. When it's fully engorged. When it's not erected, it just says Benyahu. Listen, Ben Yahoo done Yahoo. Been there, done that. So, yeah, Benjahou, Melet, the leader of the civil defense militiamen from the settlement of Havat Gilad pointed a gun at a Palestinian named Sheikh Faruk Ramadan who disarmed and shot him as well.
Starting point is 00:17:01 as an IDF artillery commander killing both and Ramadan. At least that was the initial report. That was the initial story and Ramadan was killed by the IDF along with three others. Later on, right? They came back and they yes exactly. They did come back in terms of what you were alluding to earlier just there Daniel. There was another side to the story about what exactly happened. According a drop site, Israeli military Investigators increasingly believe that Major Yuval Ezra,
Starting point is 00:17:36 the company commander killed during Friday's incident in the Palestinian village of Tel, was killed by friendly fire. Khan, Israel's public broadcaster, reported. Kahn! Numerous Israeli civilians, settler, emergency squad members
Starting point is 00:17:51 and Israeli soldiers were reportedly shooting amid chaotic conditions, making a definitive conclusion difficult. Israel used the pretext of the killing to launch a massive You know what else? I'll just put on my Norm MacDonald voice here. For a second, you know what else they made, they're making difficult.
Starting point is 00:18:10 It seems to me they're making difficulty a two-state solution. Making that kind of difficult, a little challenging there. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know what else is chaotic? Apartite. It's pretty chaotic that apartheid as systems go. That's right. It makes everything confusing. Who's killing who? But yeah, so there is a report, at least on con news that's in Israel, that it may have been a friendly fire that killed the commander. But in the aftermath of the shooting until the IDF dispatched five companies of troops to the West Bank and closed off both Tel and Nablus and demolished Faruq's home. which is I'm always, I shouldn't be shocked, but it's like I am shocked by the speed of which they go from like, oh, this, this Palestinian who's living in, you know, an apartheid fucking state who is being.
Starting point is 00:19:19 An apartheid lack of a state. Right. An apartheid lack of a state. This Palestinian who committed a, we're immediately going to be judged during execution or committed the crime, you know, shot the person who was pointing a gun at him and got disarmed. It's called the, it's called Jew process. Yeah, Jew process. And everyone has a right to it.
Starting point is 00:19:44 Immediately, the home is demolished. There's no talk about whether or not do other people live in the home. I mean, usually homes, single occupancy homes, I don't think are a booming business in the West Bank. I mean, I think people live usually multi-generational family homes. And yet you just hear, oh, yes, they demolished Farouk's home. Well, but there is debate about that. You know, some Israelis feel that it's wrong to demolish someone's home on the suspicion of having committed a crime.
Starting point is 00:20:21 They feel that you should demolish the entire village. That's right. Other people say, no, just the apartment block. Just that one square block. The moderate voices say just the square block, which is, I think. And the left is the peacnicks are like, no, stop at the house. Yeah, just stop at the house. What are you crazy?
Starting point is 00:20:38 No, just the house and all the occupants inside of it. So the Hezbar machine, of course, kicked into gear immediately following this, leading with active duty status on one of the dead Israelis and the omnipresent danger of stone throwing as well as calling Israelis civilians and hikers. They love to do that. This is from, of course, the Jerusalem Post. Two Israeli men, one of them an active duty soldier. They love to add that, were injured in a violent incident in the Sassia junction near the Hebron Hills, West Bank on Saturday,
Starting point is 00:21:14 when a Palestinian man threw stones towards them and stole a weapon from them. Of course, they do not clarify that the weapon that was stolen from them was pointed directly at them and had also been firing earlier as, you know, the civil defense forces were trying to clear out the Palestinian villagers who were like, get the fuck out of here, you fucking settlers. And the idea... It's just so terrible, you know, because these settlers, all they were trying to do was stand the Palestinians ground. That's right. That's right. Exactly. Like the stand your ground law in Israel means stand. someone else's ground. Yeah, stand their ground.
Starting point is 00:21:58 Stand their ground. Yeah, exactly. And so it works. It's a reverse Florida. Right. And then when someone steals, when the resident of that village steals the weapon out of the guy who was
Starting point is 00:22:13 invading, it's an act of aggression that will not stand. Yeah, it will not stand. And there's self-defense, certainly. That's right. You got to listen, don't Israelis have the right to defend themselves from people who don't have the right to defend themselves? That's exactly right. And I feel like I wish we had Rokana on today because he could explain this nuance to us that, you know, that it's really unfortunate that the Palestinian didn't choose the nonviolent option in dealing with the violent option.
Starting point is 00:22:45 The violent option guy. Yeah. It's always the tricky, complicated thing about these situations is that one side is allowed to kill. and the other side must be condemned for defending themselves. Yeah, the other side is allowed to die. That's right. They're allowed to die. Or to cower. Yes. So the IDF clarified in a statement that contrary to initial reports, the incident, was not a shooting attack, but a violent clash that included stone throwing against the Israeli civilians.
Starting point is 00:23:17 That's a helpful reframe. Yeah, very helpful for their narrative, especially the part where they talk about Israeli civilians. who once again are armed settlers going into people's land and just pointing their guns at people, terrorizing them, but it's not terrorism if you are a Jewish settler. They were just on a hike, Matt. They were.
Starting point is 00:23:41 They were going through walkies, Gromit. Yeah, we're just having a walk around, yeah? We're doing a walkabout. Yeah, the idea that these guys were hikers is just particularly hilarious. I mean, we are, we're all supposed to just believe that they were backpacking, just doing their regular backpacking through other people's land with their AR-15s. So the New York Times called the details unclear, which they love to do. Asan Piker, more like assault hiker.
Starting point is 00:24:13 That's right. Very good. Too much work. But I had fun. So, yeah, the New York Times wrote, the exact details of the shooting remain unclear. with Israeli officials saying Israeli hikers were attacked, while Palestinian officials say settlers attacked a village. Uh-huh.
Starting point is 00:24:32 The Israeli military said that soldiers were sent to the Palestinian village of Tel close to the city of Nablis after receiving a report about an attack on Israeli hikers in the area. The great thing about the New York Times is their ability to conflate. I mean, listen, the Israeli government has, specifically the IDF, the Israeli military and military officials have almost never told the truth. But they act like, well, you know, we got to tell both sides of the stories here. One side of the story is Palestinians who took video of the attack. And the other side is just words that the Israeli government and military say.
Starting point is 00:25:18 So it goes on mention here that tell exists in parts of areas A, and B, which are supposed to be off limits to Israelis without IDF permission, which these, quote, hikers did not have, of course, as they exist outside of the law. And by the time the professional has Boris Wade in, Ramadan and the others involved were just called terrorists. That was the word that Danny Denon used here. What about the armed Palestinian terrorists who carried out a shooting attack against, shooting attack against innocent Israeli civilians this morning, murdering two people, Yuvalesra and
Starting point is 00:26:00 Ben Yomelit, and injuring several others. This was the third terrorist attack targeting many. He does look like the count. It does. One, two, three terrorist attacks in the area in the past 24 hours. Yesterday was... One territory. One, one, two, set. of laws. Yeah, 24 hours. Yesterday, one civilian was stabbed. Just hours later, another was wounded in a separate stabbing attack in northern Simaria.
Starting point is 00:26:34 If you truly care about protecting civilians, you cannot ignore terrorism when Israelis are the victims. That is what he said. And, you know, it is always good to read what he said because he says a lot of very important things. this attack differs from others in that there seems to be
Starting point is 00:27:00 more outcry from the liberal Zionist Israelis within 48 who look at the settlers as a nuisance who are making them look bad yeah and who are sick of them and I've always
Starting point is 00:27:19 I've always known that Tel Aviv Israelis or leftist Israelis, whatever, they disclaimed the settlements, they'd announce them, they don't, you know, they don't want to be associated with it. They think it makes Israel look bad on the global scene. They might even have a moral issue with it. But I kind of always assumed that if it came down to it, if a Palestinian shoots a settler, under no circumstance would you hear anything but condemnation and bloodthirsty revenge from Israelis. But, but It turns out that's not the case. I mean, I'm just going off of Twitter, which is a very unrepresentative sample. Right, yes. But so I don't know why, you know, what my algorithm, but my algorithm was feeding me tweet after tweet after tweet, translated from Hebrew.
Starting point is 00:28:06 Yeah. Of Israelis making fun quite sharply of the notion that these were just, you know. Hikers, innocent. We're just innocent men. Yeah. We're just innocent men. We're just normal men.
Starting point is 00:28:21 We're just normal men trying to hike in the hills. Yeah. Yeah. It is interesting, you know, because, again, you can't trust Israel, you know, you can't trust Twitter to be any kind of like distinct representative, you know, of different facets of thinking in any country. certainly not in Israel and yet I also was interested in this sort of split
Starting point is 00:28:53 on this so first we're going to talk about this this is Eli Kawaz wrote today's deadly clash in the West Bank began when and this is an Israeli began when about 30 settlers including armed men and minors
Starting point is 00:29:09 entered tell a Palestinian village that Israelis are not allowed to enter using a quote hike as cover. They did not coordinate with the IDF, even though that is required. The incident ended in a gunfight that killed two Israelis and four Palestinians, and the IDF sent in five more companies to the area to contain the situation of the settlers that started. I'm sure that the people who condemned Rokana for not coordinating with the IDF will be very quick to lay the blame at the settlers' feet for not going through the proper channels to coordinate
Starting point is 00:29:42 invading Palestinian territory. Yes. Now, this next sentence, I think, is interesting as well. None of this excuses the Palestinians who seized a weapon and killed an Israeli officer. Really? None of it excuses? Like, at what point is there ever an excuse then? Like, truly, I am lost in trying to find out what is an excuse. What does excuse?
Starting point is 00:30:09 You notice that the thing that outrages him is that a soldier was killed. Right, exactly. And not just any soldier, though. We're talking about our company commander here, buddy. You know, this is, it's very important that one of the, you know, one of the people who was killed was a soldier, an Israeli officer. This is a crime in its own right, and the two Israeli families are grieving tonight, but it does not change how the events began or who set them into motion. Or the fact that several Palestinian families are grieving tonight. Well, you know, that's, you know, that goes without saying, Daniel. And we're already grieving. Yeah, you know. This is exactly how the Smotrich model is meant to work.
Starting point is 00:30:54 It encourages, quote, settlement slash outpost pioneers, as he describes them, to move into Palestinian land that is off limits, challenges anyone to intervene. And when violence breaks out, punishes the village and sets up another outpost in its place. This is not just my opinion. It is what he demanded today. evacuate tells residents quote clean the village make it quote look like the refugee camps
Starting point is 00:31:18 in Nablus and transfer the land from area B to area C to build a new settlement on it Well you know what they always say Shoa don't tell Shoa don't tell that's right One of the Israelis who was killed
Starting point is 00:31:35 Benjahumellet was praised by Kahane's grandson for refusing to recognize the line between area C and area B, which separates what is legal from what is not. Oh, that's good. That's good to know. That line so helpful. Yes, it is very nice to have that legal line, you know. And that honestly, it really is the question.
Starting point is 00:31:56 And we'll get more into that in a second. But the difference seems to be, and this is true of liberal Zionists also in the West, which it's the difference between them. you know, Israeli 48ers, whatever you want to call it. And West Bank settlers is that the 48ers or the secular Israelis or the Tel Avivists or whatever, they have the legal right and the legal machinery behind them that makes their settling completely normal and good and fine. There's a framework there that they can point at.
Starting point is 00:32:40 say, see, I'm not doing anything wrong. The law says I'm not doing anything wrong. Even international laws says they're not doing anything wrong. Right, exactly. So they're able to distinguish themselves from the settlers as like, no, you want to talk about settlers, those are the settlers, which is
Starting point is 00:32:58 very useful if you are trying to normalize the apartheid state of Israel. Yeah, I mean, I could look at it a slightly different way, which is to say, okay, look, if, like, given that internet, like, if we're going to, this is the old Finkelstein line, like, or the Finkelstein logic, which is to say, if we want to use international law to be able to appeal to international law to speak about the legal side of the moral question of why
Starting point is 00:33:29 Palestinians deserve freedom and justice while there's international law on their side. But if you're going to go at the green, you have to stop at the red and stopping at the red means, Okay, Israel is a state. Israelis are a national people for now. No country has a right to continue to exist. But, you know, if Israelis are settlers, I'm a settler here in North America, you're a settler. If we want these words to mean anything, it's at least tenable to use the word to refer to West Bank settlers. But what the 48ers, what the liberal Zionists, the liberal Israelis, the leftist Israelis, the leftist Israelis, do see is that it's not that the settlers, the ones they call the settlers, the ones all called the settlers in the West Bank, it's not so much that they're doing something that's just immoral and wrong and needs to be stopped in and of itself. It's also they're making us look bad and are, what we really want more than anything is to be done with this Palestinian question and the settlers are making it harder because they go in there and they inflame and this and that.
Starting point is 00:34:39 You know, we could have had some kind of Oslo something, but then Hamas needed to fuck it up. And now we've got our own extremists who are also fucking up our chimerical, fantastical idea of some solution that'll finally give us the Shacket, the quiet, the peace and quiet that we are just longing for so we don't need to think about this anymore. That's what I read into it. Yeah, yeah, no, completely. And that's, it's an understandable critique. I have a similar critique when it comes to people talking about international law and talking about who's a settler and who's not. Yeah, you end up having to abide by those rules then. And that means, I mean, a lot of very immoral things fall healthily within the limits of the limits of the rules. law, especially apartheid. I mean, that's the whole thing with apartheid. Apartite is something that, you know, is, it's engraved in the law. It is, it is, it's its own legal justification.
Starting point is 00:35:49 Exactly. It's its own legal justification. But as we were saying, the, there were people who were doing some meming about these settlers who were, quote, hiking. Here's one that says, these are all translated from Hebrew, by the way. Yes. These are all Israelis apparently tweeting these things out. To see Israelis meming with any degree of acuity is it's not something you see every day. No, yeah. Yeah, usually when you see an Israeli meming, it's just them making fun of someone that they personally murdered. In this case, they are making fun of the settlers.
Starting point is 00:36:30 They say a group of British hikers are caught up in clashes in the city of London. and it's the dudes from Clockwork Orange. It's the Droogs. The droogs, yeah. Then it says, this is Yoni Rezinar, wrote Italian nature-loving citizens on their way to a hike in Jerusalem and it's Roman soldiers. A bunch of centurins. Yes, going to, you know, take over Jerusalem. John Brown wrote Germans on a shopping spree and it's Crystal Knotch or something similar.
Starting point is 00:37:04 You see it's an image of a guy breaking through presumably a Jewish-owned store. A group of American citizens on a trip to Washington, and it's the clans march on Washington in the early 20th century. That is fucking great. And then someone was quote-twinning someone go, here's another settler excursion this time in Europe. And you see, of course, a house on fire that. settlers presumably set on fire.
Starting point is 00:37:38 And Aviva or Aviya Yosefi wrote, man, these guys love to hike. And then right under that, someone said, I broke into someone's house with a weapon and he took it from me. Help, I'm clearly the victim in this situation. Very, very good. And then finally, settlers go out for a hike
Starting point is 00:37:58 in Palestinian territories than it is more Roman soldiers. Uh, just briefly, this, uh, incident sparked, I think, a lot of conversation between the sort of more secular, you know, liberal Zionists, uh, in Israeli society. And, um, and the far right wing settlers who, uh, often bear the brunt of like, you guys are the reason everyone hates us, um, which I think is, uh, you know, a soothing, you know, know, thing to tell yourself if you are an Israeli who spent the last three years living in Tel Aviv and also supporting the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza. But it would be nice to have a, next time we have someone who lives there on, I'd like to run this by them, because someone, an Arabic speaking, I think this is a 48 citizen of Israel. Abu al-Daraja said, the discussion about this incident in Hebrew, is a whiplash. I have never seen such a polarized discussion in Israel on such an issue.
Starting point is 00:39:08 A significant part is even defending the actions of the Palestinian shooter. The other side reacts by tripling their calls for violence against Arabs. And I would need to check, like with someone who pays more attention to the inner workings of that society. There's been plenty of times when liberal Israelis have distanced themselves from the settlers or said something bad is going to happen, it'll be the settlers' fault. But is it a new thing for a Palestinian to actually act in, first of all, it's very, it's striking how striking it is. That to hear of a story of like a Palestinian grabbing an Israeli gun, turning it on him. Yeah. And shooting him and shooting a soldier. That doesn't happen all the time is a testament to both the intimidation Palestinians are under
Starting point is 00:39:59 their commitment to self-preservation, but the extreme consequences that would ensue. The true threat to their lives. But also their restraint. But also their restraint. Yeah, that too. But here we have a case of someone actually doing what in America would be automatically and obviously lauded as his right. Yes.
Starting point is 00:40:23 You know, on his door. Like if someone steps onto your property or into your gated community, much less comes to your door, you don't even have to ask them any questions. You put that fucking shotgun out the window. And if they don't skedaddle in two seconds flat, you blow them away. And no one's going to fucking prosecute you for it because you're standing your ground. And here's a Palestinian doing this in the West Bank. And you've got Israelis being like, based, honestly. Like, yeah, okay, he's got the right to do that. Like, I don't know what that portends. It probably portends nothing. But it just, it did strike me as kind of remarkable.
Starting point is 00:40:59 that like when it comes to self-defense and to protect your turf like that, against a settler at least, you're not going to get any pushback or you're going to get sympathy. It's interesting. There was a tweet that I want to read that I found also to be sort of a fascinating insight
Starting point is 00:41:14 into this particular rift in Israeli society. This right here, this is from Yaniv Kubovich, who writes, I receive many inquiries from reserve soldiers, both men and women, who are experiencing moral distress, feelings of humiliation, and a lack of identification with the mission in the West Bank. Missions, plural.
Starting point is 00:41:41 Yeah, missions, excuse me, in the West Bank. If you have been serving since the start of the war, have witnessed violent events or taken part in them, and have no way to reach the media. You are invited to contact me privately. What I find fascinating about this is the, I find fascinating about this is the, I idea that they're talking very specifically about if you are having some moral distress because you just don't personally identify with what we're doing in the West Bank, please, you know, let me know because I've been hearing from people, which is fascinating to me because it says
Starting point is 00:42:15 that the missions in Gaza are not the subject of internal strife between, you know, fellow Israeli citizens. They're going, well, no, that we all agree on. That is something that, you know, I mean, of course there are people who are having, you know, there's a lot of distress there. But specifically talking about the missions in the West Bank and what they're for and what exactly Israeli soldiers are doing there. Specifically, this part where he talks about the humiliation. Now, that to me is fascinating because that can go two ways. You're either talking about the humiliation of being an IDF soldier who has to back up, these insane
Starting point is 00:43:01 settler gangs who are going around instigating issues. The feral street urchins as Biel Meneker calls them. Yes, these feral street urchins who are terrorizing Palestinian villages and you're called in and you're
Starting point is 00:43:18 playing backup to them. And of course, you are also in the line of fire if something goes down, as was the case with this one Israeli soldier who was killed. possibly by friendly fire. And it can also mean the humiliation of having to, you know, having to constantly be the, either you're being the bad guy, you know, you're being the bad guy, you're doing the apartheid enforcement.
Starting point is 00:43:51 Or maybe it means the humiliation of, you know, still having to be in an area that is filled with Palestinians who are constantly, you know, like, constantly not being ethnically cleansed. You know what I mean? Like, they're still there. Well, in a sense that that's the humiliation, the Vietnam style humiliation of being conscripted into a war we can't win. Right. Right.
Starting point is 00:44:16 Yeah. You know, always like we're just, we're clearly just hanging around and we're not gaining any advantage and there's no end game. And, like, Israelis can be humiliated in, in multiple ways. Not winning a war is the kind of humiliation that sends Israelis into an aplectic, genocidal fit. But then there's the humiliation, as you said, the first kind of being in this position of having to back up these lunatics.
Starting point is 00:44:45 Yeah. It's like are such a reflection of society, Israeli society, you know, as a whole, that it is, I mean, I can see why I almost relate to it in a way where there is, that's how I feel about Israel on the whole is like this reflection of, you know, American imperial society, but also liberal society and also specifically liberal Jewish institutions and just sort of the, you know, this is, it reflects poorly on all of us in a lot of ways, you know. Jewish and non-Jewish alike. So it's like, I kind of get you here.
Starting point is 00:45:31 Yeah, well, look, this podcast exists as an alternative to walking around, being walking around humiliated all the time. Right, exactly. And some podcasts exist for that. Other podcasts exist to have deep conversations with Israeli settlers. And I want to play a little bit from this Israeli podcast with one guy talking to a settler. Here's a little bit of that. There is a strategic vision here.
Starting point is 00:45:59 That Haggai Siegel and this generation of settlers have always sought to expand constantly. To engage in friction with the enemy so that the enemy retreats. Is this an AI dog? Yeah, yeah, yeah. It really captures a certain kind of Israeli frenzy. And this ultimately produces. Sorry. They do a pretty good job.
Starting point is 00:46:24 Are you constantly initiates? the expansion of the perimeter? Rightfully so? Out of a strategic vision, but are you initiating violence? Not murder? Not a settler violence campaign, and not whatever people imagine. Simply killing babies in their sleep. But what then?
Starting point is 00:46:43 We unequivocally initiate friction, and we are proud of it, and I believe the IDF today also initiates friction, after many years incidentally, of not doing so. So AI gave the other guy, Ben Shapiro's voice. voice. Why didn't think it was Ben? Look at that guys. Pias. Holy shit. Yeah. Dude. He's got fucking giant canoli for the Pais and honestly there's just whenever I see these settlers, whenever they're talking, they all just look like they came from West L.A. I'm just like God damn it. You know, like there's something particularly, uh, almost extra racist about how they just look, uh,
Starting point is 00:47:23 like the most, like they refuse to, uh, intermarry. Well, beyond shower. They refuse to intermarry, uh, even with like Mizrahi Jews. You know what I'm saying? Well, they probably, they refuse to intermarry with anyone outside their own bloodline. Right. Right. Right.
Starting point is 00:47:42 Right. Yeah. They look so completely inbred all of them. Straight up though. And this is so funny because it just reminds me of one of the attack lines. I know this is the third time we've said the name, uh, Hassan, Piker, if we say it three times into a mirror, then he comes out and then he challenges me to a basketball competition. I don't know what I was going to say there. But Hassan Piker, one of the
Starting point is 00:48:05 lines that they go after him on, like out of context, is when he calls, you know, he called a group of settlers or something like that inbred as an insult. And they're like, oh, you're saying Jews are inbred. And it always pisses me off. I'm like, hey, what are we doing? What are we doing here? Guys, are we, are we going to pretend like Israeli settlers aren't very specifically DNA obsessed in this way where they truly are going to, they're truly going to fucking fuck their own cousins?
Starting point is 00:48:42 I mean, you know, these are like bloodline obsessed psychopaths who make racial purity their entire fucking thing. I mean, they're not pulling. punches the way that liberal Zionist Israeli society does when it comes to the ethno-religious nationalist project of Israel.
Starting point is 00:49:03 They're saying it straight up. The blood is what matters here, bro. And their blood is incredibly inbred. Also, this is the one, it's an insult that all supremacists of any stripe should be labeled as.
Starting point is 00:49:22 Anyone who's just like finds their racial purity to be their number one pride point or their, you know, reasoning behind their entire political ideology. Yeah, call them inbred because that's what they that's ultimately what they think is the, you know, the point of all this is to just fuck their own over and over again until they're just fucking that one king of Spain who's like had two undescended testicles. Please don't talk about him. That Muxi, Ruvus had a terrible song about him. Really?
Starting point is 00:49:56 Yeah, you know, Giangamesh's band, his a cappella band, once I was the king of Spain. A terrible, most obnoxious Canadian song. I was going to say that it's such a shame that they opt for this inbred livestock because it's very possible as a Jew to be in bread without fucking anyone in your family. You know, many of us are in bread. We're in bagels. We're in Khomintoshin.
Starting point is 00:50:19 I mean, Adam cooked up some beautiful looking bagels today. We're in blinces. we're in Knisches, we're in, you just, you know, all the Jewish bakeries, we're into bread, we're in bread, you know, some people are in finance, some people are in art, we're in bread. Yeah, we're in bread. What's wrong with being in bread? It's a good business. It's an honest business.
Starting point is 00:50:38 It's a delicious business. Come on. Yeah, it is, you know, and we do need to, I think. Need with a K. Need with a K. We do need to need some more bread. No, we do. need to get further into this with people
Starting point is 00:50:55 who have experienced, you know, we're hoping to get Elek back on and Elon back on as well. To talk about it, because I feel like this particular rift that is, you know, showing
Starting point is 00:51:11 a little bit, at least through these tweets. And again, this is not supposed to be representative. We're not saying, oh, that means, you know, the Israelis are, are waking up. No. It's, it's it's hard to know what the public sentiment is on that. But it is saying that we know the Rift exists because it is something that is talked about quite often, both in the West and in Israel itself.
Starting point is 00:51:37 And this particular incident, like you said, where a Palestinian man disarmed a settler with a gun and then turned it on him and killed him. And then disliked him. Yeah, and then disliked him. Unalived him. You know, that... On alive. Now he's undead.
Starting point is 00:52:00 Wait, that doesn't work. No, you're right. It should be, I think normally we would assume, that this would be something that is... Everyone agrees. Not in... Unlike the same way it is with October 7th, where there is no kind of like, well, to be fair, the Israeli government has been keeping them in an open-air prison for, you know, since 1967. But see, that's the leap that you want, that I, like, when I look at tweets like this, right,
Starting point is 00:52:34 the part of me that still remembers somewhere in the vestiges of my memory, and maybe it's apocryphal, maybe it never even happened, but some part of me thinks I remember having reasonable human conversations with Israelis, with normal Israelis, with regular average Israelis, you would think that they'd be able to make the leap from, oh, wow, there's something unavoidable and even justifiable and even like applauseworthy on a certain sense. Like that settler got what was coming to him. And anyone who complains that he was victimized and attacked out of the blue,
Starting point is 00:53:11 unprovoked, is obviously full of shit. And we can empathize with the Palestinian person's situation enough to say, yeah, if I was in that situation, I'd probably do the same thing. Wonderful. Eze Ofi, as they say in Hebrew, isn't it beautiful? Now, let's turn it up a notch. Right, right. Let's kick it up a notch, like Emeril Lagassee.
Starting point is 00:53:34 That's right. On the moral cooking show. Let's kick it up a notch, kick the spice level up a notch. And say, okay, what happens when you keep people in a concentration camp? Yeah, yeah. And you hold parties on the edge of it. And you have military bases where the people who work there, are actively tasked with keeping your people caged and and starved and or whatever,
Starting point is 00:53:57 you know, and and boxed in. And shooting off the legs of people who are doing peaceful, nonviolent protests like they did at the Great March of Return. Like, why don't we turn this around? The idea that someone, you know, requisitioned, if that's the right word, someone else's gun and turned it around on them. and killed them with it. What about, let's say, the fact that the majority of, like, fuel for the, for Gazans who were
Starting point is 00:54:33 shooting off rockets, that fuel comes from unexploded Israeli munitions. Is that not also turning their weapons against them? Like, can you apply the same logic to what happened there? And, you know, you don't really see it. And part of me wonders if now Israeli society has become, I guess at this point, so immune, not immune, but inert, like almost numb to the constant death and destruction wrought by themselves and others they know, that they look at what's going on, you know, with these settlers. And instead of having the emotional reaction that they did after October 7th where they were just like, oh my God, we need to go in there and kill everyone. The, these settlers are just like, you know, just another, it's like they're immune to the
Starting point is 00:55:34 idea that they should be sad, even for their own people or whatever. Not that I'm saying that they should be sad. But I wonder if they're like, what kind of society is being created here, you know, this how fucking, um, you know, I guess a nerd to death and destruction have they become. And is this a symptom of that? Or is this just another way to express that I am not them. I am not the settlers. I am a mere. I'm a mere IDF soldier serving in the West Bank or serving in Gaza. Yeah. I'm, I'm Amir. My name is Amir. My name is Amir.
Starting point is 00:56:17 Yeah. I think it's closer to the second one. Again, there's always some kind of cognitive fault line when it comes to Zionist. They have to split off from reality somewhere, right? So if you're a right-wing or you split off from reality right from the start, when you say, okay, I'm going to live over here on this other side of universal morality. I don't care. I'm a supremacist.
Starting point is 00:56:42 Fuck you. I'll do what I want. If you're a liberal, you have. have to have to have this more awkward fault line somewhere. So they can look at the West Bank as, you know what, that's too far, that's too much, it's not ours, it's more trouble than it's worth, it got us into this trouble in the first place. I can understand why Palestinians would be sick of these settlers. I'm sick of these settlers. Great. A pox's on both their houses, let's get out of there. And, you know, and also they associate the settlers with Smotridge and Ben-Givir and they don't
Starting point is 00:57:12 like him. Okay, fine. Gaza, on the other hand, is a black box to them. And all they know of it is that it's a hotbed of inexplicable hatred and terror. And it's just a headache. And maybe they feel bad about what happened in Gaza. I'm sure many of them feel very bad about it in the pit of their stomach. But what are you going to do? It's done.
Starting point is 00:57:35 I didn't say anything while it was happening. I don't know how I feel about that. Okay, well, now it's done. And I just want it to go away as quick as possible. and hey, we removed the settlers 20 years ago, so there's no settlers to blame. And it's that refusal to deal with the reality of what occupation actually looks like
Starting point is 00:57:54 when the jailers control the jail from the outside and the jail is locked from the outside. Yeah. And they can't, and because everyone in Israel may not be a West Bank settler, but everyone in Israel either is or is closely related to a soldier who will be called up
Starting point is 00:58:13 or a reserve soldier who will be called up, held up to go and commit the crimes in Gaza. They can't, they can't look at Gaza through the same sober, clearheaded lens that they can look at the West Bank. That sucks. It does, however, suggests that if Palestinians, more Palestinians stand their ground, it could heighten these contradictions, which I'm always curious about what would happen if, what would happen if you had, I mean, because also the settlers are total cowards. Yeah, yeah. I mean, talk about shooting and crying. It is like oh god. These are
Starting point is 00:58:48 they're born bitches. They go around terrorizing old ladies and you know just senior citizens and kids and whatnot and they
Starting point is 00:59:04 yeah they spend their time just trying to intimidate and then as soon as anything pops off they're like um soldiers So can you Did you see that? They're like fucking Cairns dude
Starting point is 00:59:19 It is it's fucking It's insane and they're awful And it's you know There's at least some segment of Israeli society that agrees And while I might be Skeptical of how large of a number That might be I still would encourage it
Starting point is 00:59:40 And I applaud it I think that it is always worth encouraging anyone within Israeli society to be against the idea of settlement and settlers and whatever the fuck else. You can, you know, they do the thing where they separate themselves. It's not me. But that can only last so long. Those contradictions as they are heightened, I think, become more and more clear.
Starting point is 01:00:08 And I, you know, my hope of hopes is always that Israelis. you know start fighting each other rather than fighting every single fucking neighboring country every single Arab they see just fight each other that's I sure want a civil war yeah exactly dude um I want to uh before we take a break I do want to play a little bit of this video from this lady yeah Alana Zaychuk yes because this This is so funny because this is, we're just talking about the fault line and the contradiction. There's a brilliant little maneuver you can do, it turns out, as a liberal Zionist to safeguard your liberal Zionism from the creeping black mold rot of settler ideology. Yes.
Starting point is 01:01:04 Which is to say that they're not Zionism. They're not Zionists. So BM, At I Really Hate You pointed this video. about, and he writes in a video by self-proclaimed, quote, Israeli-American peace advocate, aka Hasbara asset, Alana Zytecich, Alana Lindsay on Instagram. She and... Didn't I say no wide chicks on the podcast? Turns out we have a Zychik.
Starting point is 01:01:31 We have a Zichick. No wides, plenty of Zites. She and Zionist leftist, that's in quotes, M.K. Gilad Kariv, the Democrats, try to gas-eye viewers... That's a new party there. Oh, really? Yeah, the Democratic Party, yeah. Good name.
Starting point is 01:01:50 Tried to gaslight viewers to believe Israel's government doesn't represent Zionism. They're lying. Here is the... Turns out Israel's government is anti-Zionist, everyone. Let's find out how. Check it out. Told you that the Israeli ultra-right is the most dangerous anti-Zionist force inside of Israel today. Because ultra-nationalism is not actually...
Starting point is 01:02:13 Hold on. Hold on. What is this part? posture. I don't know. Like holding the mic like it's a fucking roach. Or like it's a blunt. It's supposed to be casual, but it does look like she's vaping her mic, which is weird. Being forced casual, I think is one of the most embarrassing things anyone can do in a social media video. Zionism.
Starting point is 01:02:37 And the only people who think it is besides Ben Gavir and his supporters are global far left. And if you don't believe me, fine, that's our prerogative. But I do urge you to watch this clip from a conversation I had with Kielaar Kariv, who is the current member of Knesset and part of the Democratic team or the Democrats, which is the liberal Zionist camp of Israeli politics. You know, for me, the Israeli ultra-right is not Zionist. They are anti-Zionists. They are the most dangerous anti-Zionist force that is walking today in Israel.
Starting point is 01:03:11 not on forms of a Jewish nationalism is Zionism. Okay, first of all, I have never heard an Israeli do a better impersonation of Matt Liebs or horrible impersonation of Israelis. Yo. Like, because you do this thing where it sounds like one minute it's Israeli, next minute is Russian, the next minute it's Greek. This guy's doing it all. Yeah, maybe he is an Israeli-Russian-Greek French man. You know, he's doing all of it. It's like, God, this is great.
Starting point is 01:03:43 I hope the one day meet a British guy who also has my British accent, too. I told you, there's a British comedian who follows me on, and follows our podcast on Instagram. She wrote to me, and she's got not exactly that accent, but it's a stronger regional accent. Yeah. And she liked it. And she loves your accent. All right. Some people get it.
Starting point is 01:04:02 But yeah, this guy's doing the Matt Lieb accent. Ultra nationalism doesn't equal Zionism. Yeah. Okay. So I, this is such, I literally, I'm so happy to finally hear something new. This is brand new, yeah? This excites me. I love it.
Starting point is 01:04:20 Not every form of Jewish nationalism is Zionism. I was like, okay, sure. But what about the ones in Israel? How is that not Zionism? No, because Zionism is more fun. It's more nymph, Zionism. You know, it's more nerve nationalism. And if you learn the history of Zionism, you immediately see it.
Starting point is 01:04:49 Zionism is the liberal form of Jewish nationalism. What? Then what's liberal Zionism? Like, that is fantastic. I love it. Liberal Zionism doesn't exist. There's only Zionism, which is already liberal. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:05:09 black coffee is not coffee. That's right. Like coffee with two creams and two sugars in it. That's what coffee is. That's right. What's liberal Zionism? Six creams and ten sugars. That's right.
Starting point is 01:05:25 It's a Tim Horton's iced cappuccino. Yes. This dude is straight up just being like, cappuccino is what all coffee is. Don't you understand? And anyone who has espresso in a little tiny cup, that's some other thing. That's tea.
Starting point is 01:05:39 That's bean tea. And we are against that. And Kahana is not a Zionist. And Ben Gavir is not a scientist. And they should not be included in the Zionist movement. I'm sorry. He's jukeying the stats. He's jukeing the stats.
Starting point is 01:05:58 J-E-W juking the stats. Yo! That is amazing. That we are calling the non-Gi-Gi-W. Jewish, the Arab citizens of the newly born estate to be fully integrated in political life. Okay, pause. For those who are just listening, he turns to a visual aid, which is just seemingly just lives behind him.
Starting point is 01:06:27 Yeah. His giant easel reproduction of Israel's declaration of independence. That's right. And he wheels his chair over to it. And what's really funny is he's pointing to. He's pointing to something down at the very, very bottom of, there's like 12 paragraphs, and he's looking at paragraph 11,
Starting point is 01:06:46 which is ironically the same placement of like Palestinian death count in New York Times articles. Right, yeah. And he's like, down here, it's right here. It says in the fine print. You see, where is it? Somewhere here, Arab citizens fully integrated. Don't you see it was always supposed to be?
Starting point is 01:07:05 God, it's amazing. Never find the fact that David Bangorian was an ultra-Jewish nationalist who was completely okay with writing a declaration of independence that said that. And at the same time, said, we're going to create greater Israel. We're going to keep expelling them. You know, the old will die and the young will forget. Yes, exactly. I mean, this is just like this is buying into the old-school Israeli creation men. but then acting like, wow, it's really weird that so many people think that Zionism exists
Starting point is 01:07:43 outside of the myth that we've been teaching from the beginning. It's like, yeah, dude, even your, your own society is not with you on this. I'm going to start a men's rights group, which is like, listen, feminists, I'm with you, okay? I think sexual violence is horrible. I think rape culture is a terrible thing. but but here's where you're fucking up you're blaming men for it okay those guys who do that shit they're not men that's right exactly they're not men a real man doesn't do that okay so stop
Starting point is 01:08:16 maligning men stop naming men stop naming men as the perpetrators of sexual violence everyone knows they're not men they're monsters they're monsters they're monsters there's a third gender category called monster right and it's for any man who does something that I consider to be against man which is another wonderful little wrinkle in this because it's like this is like settlers are offensive to him not because what they do to Palestinians but because what they do to me and my job here of trying to explain Zionism to people. You're ruining Zionism. The worst part about apartheid is having to explain apartheid over and over again.
Starting point is 01:09:00 It's kind of like it reminds me a lot of, like, the scariest thing to men about rape is being accused of it falsely. Like that's, you know, it's like that is the scariest thing. Not rape itself. Like, rape itself, they don't, not even a thought, not even considered. Don't walk around thinking I'm about, I could get raped. You know, it is, it's the same thing here. not walking around thinking about being on the other end of that apartheid, being on the other end of that genocide. No, the scariest thing about this is that people think that I'm like this.
Starting point is 01:09:41 Well, much less considering, holy shit. Wow, I've had a lot of sexual experiences in my life. I've never thought about the fact that there might have been a power dynamic or that consent might have been fuzzy at certain cases or that I might have hung out with bros who spoke a certain way and that, enabled someone else to do something. No, I'm not going to think of myself as even connected with it. Those guys aren't part of my tribe. They're not part of my, my sex, my gender. Yeah, I in no way contribute to this culture. You know, like it is, it's just such a, it's just a chicken shit thing. Because also, this is ultimately what? Hasbara. This is ultimately for the purposes of PR, because I wonder if the Democrats in Israel are not unlike the Democratic.
Starting point is 01:10:28 Democrats in the United States in which it's a lot of like, well, I would never, if I were in power. This is not who we are. This is not who we are, like constantly without ever doing anything about it. Yeah. It's part of what Zionism is all about. Because we are. No, it's part of what Zionism conceded to. It's part of, it's part of Zionist strategy to include a 20% and no more minority.
Starting point is 01:10:58 of completely cucked descendants of people who didn't happen to get ethnically cleansed, but are on notice. It's Zionist PR. This is like going to fucking Taco Bell and being like, you know, it is part of Taco Bell to live Moss.
Starting point is 01:11:18 They want you to live Moss. And it's like, let's, what are we just regurgitating the fucking ad copy? That's crazy. There are people who go to, McDonald's and they say they're hating it. That's not what McDonald's is all about. That's not what it's about.
Starting point is 01:11:34 It's about you loving it. Everyone knows it. A political partnership between Jews and Arabs is part of our of our Zionist agenda, not only our democratic agenda. And again, we didn't invent anything we ever think. What? Hold on. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
Starting point is 01:11:52 You didn't do what now? We're going to have to rewrite our entire theme song. What do you mean? You didn't do that. Don't pull the fucking rug out like that all at once. You did. You invented cherry tomatoes, weighs, USB drives, and the Iron Dome. Israeli salad, Uzi Stents, and Jopas Orange Groves.
Starting point is 01:12:12 Bro. You can't go around. Taco salads? Us. Then taco salads, who then? Who? Dates. In the coming primaries of our party,
Starting point is 01:12:25 more than 10 of them are not Jewish. Arab and do. So yes, by definition, the Democrats are a Zionist party. Okay, what do you think? Let me know in the comments. Respectfully. Respectfully, dog shit, but very, very entertaining. And I actually, I hope to see more of you, Mrs. Zeitick.
Starting point is 01:12:50 Wow. Oh, that was, that was wonderful, man. It's not refreshing. It's like dunking your, it's like dunking your head. into a glacier lake when you get a new a new piece of bad hasbara like a new approach i never thought of it just like actually no those guys aren't zionists yeah we're zionists they're anti-zionists yeah wait so does that mean settlers not us oh that's crazy no zionism us not them Settlers them.
Starting point is 01:13:25 Yeah. It really is refreshing because it's like you just get so bored of the same old fucking, you know, excuses over and over. I never thought that one of the excuses could be, you know, no, no, no, real Nazis don't want to invade Poland. Real Nazis, they just kind of want to partner, you know, they just want to merge Austria and Germany and become just one Germany. you know what I mean that's real Nazis fucking beautiful shit real Nazis want a little breathing room okay that's right but they don't want to be breathing in
Starting point is 01:14:03 you know crematorium ash that's right exactly they just need a little living space not a lot of living space you know Hitler he wasn't even a real Nazi he really he perverted the tenets of national socialism in order to make it look bad and that is the real crime that the Nazis committed. We need to take a quick commercial break, everyone,
Starting point is 01:14:30 because listen, people got to buy products. Do I know what those are sometimes? But I do believe we have a product for you. So stick around. Listen to this ad. We'll be right back. This episode is brought to you by Hala Palestine. That's right, guys.
Starting point is 01:14:50 We finally did it. We got an ad. And I'm very excited about this one because this is a great company. The people of Palestine have been making soap the same way for generations. And usually using just olive oil, baking soda and water. In Nablus, home to one of the world's first known soap factories, they make this exact soap, the Al Jamal, the camel. And I was sent this one and as well as others from... Look at that.
Starting point is 01:15:22 Yeah, isn't this nice? This is from Hala Palestine. This is the Nabilis pure olive oil soap. And this is another one of theirs with the, if you see there, it's got the keys on it. It's really, really cool. And I was also sent this beautiful kaffia by today's sponsor, Hala Palestine. Hala.
Starting point is 01:15:47 Yeah, and I believe I've been sent some of that as well, but I will receive it when I get home in a few weeks because I'm out on the road right now, but I'm grateful and excited to sample these wares. So Hala Palestine is an online store where you can get all kinds of Palestinian crafts, clothing, and traditionally produced olive oil soaps, all handmade in Palestine,
Starting point is 01:16:06 and delivered to your door. And that kaffia that they sent you, Matt, it's woven in Palestine, not some factory overseas. And I can't wait to see you wearing it in... Yes, I will wear it, but I wanted to wait until we recorded the ad to show it, just because it just comes in this nice package and because it's, you know, it's got a little printout of where it was made, how it was made.
Starting point is 01:16:31 And, you know, just it's nice to, I wanted to do the unboxing here on the ad. Well, then rip it open while I read the next few sentences. Yeah, you go ahead. When I'm choosing anything like this, you know, products from the region, products displaying Palestinian culture, it's especially important. I want to know that my purchase supports Palestinian artisans and their families, not just companies trying to make a buck off the Palestinian struggle or Palestinian identity or Palestinian iconography or whatever. And at Hala, Palestine, you know, we know full well that our purchases are doing just that.
Starting point is 01:17:09 They're supporting actual Palestinian artisans and their families. That's right. So you can feel good about shopping with that. That's right. And in Arabic, Hala means welcome. And that's the feeling I get from these, you know, great. pieces that Hala Palestine sent me. This is the beautiful Kaffaia. I love this so much. This material is just incredibly soft. And, you know, of course, I love the design, the trees. It's beautiful. And, you know, just the feel of it is nice. And speaking of welcome when we were in Jordan,
Starting point is 01:17:38 the hospitality of our Palestinian hosts was so much. And they literally say when you're meeting someone, they'll say, you are welcome. Yes, they do. They do. And like, you haven't thanked them for anything, but they're just letting you know you are welcome. That's right. That's right. Yeah. So you can get a 10% discount, a 10% discount on any of the great products at halapalestine.com with the offer code bad hasbarah. That's right. You can feel good about where your money's going when you shop at halapalstein.com. I think I almost said chala. It's halal ha. Hala. Ha. They taught us how to say that age when we were there. That's right. They tried to unhah, you know, they're like, get that goddamn ha out of there. Stop putting huss and stuff.
Starting point is 01:18:18 They said imagine opening a can of soda. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Hala Palestine. There is. And use the code Bad Hasbara. That's H-A-L-A-Palistine.com.
Starting point is 01:18:31 Offer code Bad Hasbara for 10% off. Thank you so much to Hala Palestine for this beautiful Kaffa and for the soaps. And now back to our regularly scheduled program. And we're back as bad as barra. Look at it. You're holding the product. You're holding it right there. That was the one soap that I, my name is Matt Leeb, by the way.
Starting point is 01:19:01 What's your name? I was doing my best Nardwar. Oh, that was Nardwar. That was Nard war. I should have known. Doot-to-lut-do. Yeah, I got my Hala-Palestine soap in that ad that you probably just watched. I think you must have watched, maybe watched on YouTube.
Starting point is 01:19:18 I hadn't. I was on the road. so I hadn't received my goods, but they're here, and they look beautiful and excited to use this. That's good. Olive oil soap. The Gamal soap. That was the one that I had already opened,
Starting point is 01:19:27 so I wasn't able to show off the cool camel on there, but it's fucking awesome. Looks really, really sick. And since I opened it, that means I'm using it. And also, it is a wonderful soap. So once again, this is a post ad shoutout to Hall of Palestine. You know what today is also actually, just while we're talking.
Starting point is 01:19:50 and today is July 27th. This is my, God, 17, 17 years, clean. Hey. Milden that. Sober birthday, baby. Congratulations. 17 fucking years. Isn't that crazy?
Starting point is 01:20:04 Wait, 17. I want to grab one of my Steve Earl albums and hold his face up and just have him nod like he did the bubbles, you know? That's right. That's right. Yeah. I wish Steve Orl is my sponsor. He's still alive, right?
Starting point is 01:20:16 Yeah, yeah. His son, unfortunately, died. Oh, that's right. the past couple of years but uh steve is is still with us yeah still with us still rocking uh but yeah look at that 17 fucking years clean and sober dude and i gotta tell you raw dog in life uh you get used to it and then you know you you have to because you keep getting used to it uh but anyway it's all right to have some of that shame just long as you make enough room for for something else or the bubble bubbles who said that yeah bubble said it uh yeah but i think he was
Starting point is 01:20:50 was telling him that. I still am not ready to talk about what happened to Sherrod. So don't ask me. Maybe ask me next year. Yeah. But all I can say is I was trying to help us both. And Sherrod shouldn't have used my works. Uh, I blame, I blame Herc or Kema or something. They yeah, one of them. Yeah, it was definitely. Yeah, that's true. That's right. It was Herc and Kima's fault because they, they didn't answer his phone call in time and both. Yeah, they were supposed to, yeah. They were supposed to help. Bubbles out. of a sticky situation. Watch the wire. It's a good show. Um, so moving on, we've got to talk about other stuff. Uh, and one of the other stuff we're going to talk about is, uh, a man, uh, a plan,
Starting point is 01:21:34 a van. We're talking about Van Jones. Bad Gaza, baby, dead guys a baby. Dead guys and me. Tell each other for fairy tales. All right. That's right. It's time to talk about Van Jones. Jones. Van Jones has a substack in which he releases some of the most cringe-worthy videos about his particular brand of politics. And it's called Van Down by the River. That's right. He lives in a van down by the river. That was my best Haley Stevens voice. Oh, that's good. But he released one recently about the socialist summer and why you should fear it. And I particularly love this video because socialist summer, you know, a moderate, you know, centrist, shill like Van Jones could spend a whole video talking about the different parts of socialism that he doesn't like, the things that he disagrees with when it comes to candidates who want things like Medicare for All or the Green New Deal or, you know, any of these issues that are not related to Israel.
Starting point is 01:22:47 But do you think he talks about that? No, he only talks about the socialist's relationship to the pro-Palestine movement. And it is never been a more obvious fucking op than that, you know? Because like this dude, this dude only- This guy is always auditioning to work for Barry Weiss. Yes. And it's like, at this one, I'm like, do you already work for Barry Weiss? Because you're just giving her, you know, if you're,
Starting point is 01:23:17 good at something as the joker said never do it for free um so well she's coming to take over cnnnn so he will be working for her soon oh that's right he may be one of her top people that's after tapper and bash i can imagine van jones having a very plum position there i totally forgot about that of course well that makes everything easier um so here did you see trump's you see trump's very wise joke at the correspondent's dinner oh no what was it trump told a couple of jokes one of which completely bombed and then he like blamed his writers. It was it was a sort of a borch belt joke about about how old
Starting point is 01:23:52 comedians are. Sorry, not comedians, politicians. Something about, you know, going upstairs and making love to his wife. He's like, well, I can only do one of the two because I'm too old. And you know, he told it again and again and people weren't laughing and he's like that didn't go over as well as I thought. But he told a fairly good extended bit about Barry Weiss where he talked about
Starting point is 01:24:14 how we've recently toppled a powerful regime and they've replaced their leader with a younger gay, you know, cut out and they're working very hard to destroy their opposition. It was like very, it was detailed, you know? And he's like, and we wish Barry Weiss the best. She's doing really good work. It was decent.
Starting point is 01:24:39 Hey, you know what? Sometimes those writers can write some good jokes. That's not bad. Yeah, Kagan Michael Key is doing good work. Listen, you got to work. You got to work. You got to work. You got to work is work.
Starting point is 01:24:53 Yeah, shout out to Shane Gillis for writing that great joke, I assume. All right. Here is Van Jones talking about why you should be afraid of the socialist summer. All right, a quick message to my friends on the far left. Okay, so if you're watching this, listening and not watching, Van Jones is on, faces on a building right now. Like, you know, I just want to say, we're a little too close to 9-11 for Van Jones's face to be on a building. It's just kind of want to. This is an AI video with a video of him.
Starting point is 01:25:34 Right, yes. Inserted on top of it. Like, yeah. That's right. Here we go. Quit pooping in the Kool-A bowl and telling us that the turds are ice cubes. They're not ice cubes. And I want to talk about.
Starting point is 01:25:46 Van Jones on Substack. All right, guys, I got some stuff I want to get off my chest. I am tired. That music was also AI, I'm sure. Yeah. That's like AI, groovy soul funk. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, you just type into AI.
Starting point is 01:26:04 I'm making a shill video for the state of Israel. Could you make it sound kind of black? That's what this is. Absolutely. why don't we fire up a groovy track in the in the genre of chill wave gosh oh on the one hand I love the pun on the other hand chill wave uh catching astray hurts me I don't even know what chill wave is it's like my favorite genre of music uh fucking panda bear uh you know fucking what is that washed out uh what else is that girls you know there's like a bunch of these like you know
Starting point is 01:26:42 2010 bands where all right well i don't apologize for sure i don't apologize for show wave yeah you don't have to but you know it's good shit though tired tired of a set of people on the very far left in the democratic party my party telling us that in order for us to be progressives we now have to believe ideas and support ideas that are completely nuts i am a progressive democrat in other words, everything that's good in our party, I believe in, have believed in for a long time. Everything that's good is me. Everything that's bad is them. Thank you. Now let's... This guy and the other guy we talked about before would get along really well. It's very, it's actually a very Democrat move. Yes, 100%. And of course, that guy is part of the Democrats in
Starting point is 01:27:29 Israel. Here's a Democrat. Maybe it's not as, maybe it's not as new and fresh as we thought. Yeah, it does seem they're both, you know, run by Hakeem Jeffries. All right, here we go. Do I want universal health care, Medicare for all, whatever you want to call it? Absolutely. Hell yeah, dude. If you are sick, you should be able to go see a doctor.
Starting point is 01:27:47 That's a good idea. I love that you say that. I would love to see any evidence of you supporting any candidate ever who has been pro that. Ever once ever. I want free education for everybody as long as they want to keep learning. I think that's a good. Once again, this is, I've still missed the part where you are. super pro Bernie, you know, in
Starting point is 01:28:09 2020 or pro any part of the quote, progressive movement since 2016. Well, but they're good the thing is, Matt, they're good progressive ideas. Once you start taking them, once you start taking
Starting point is 01:28:25 an idea and start actually advocating for its implementation, much less pledging to do so, you rob it of its ideanness. And you dirty it and you sullery it, and you sullied it and you you cheapen it really that's right by turning it into i don't know prexis or some other far left concept yeah exactly yeah as soon as you try it that's when i'm like whoa whoa whoa whoa
Starting point is 01:28:49 what are we communists that's crazy like listen if you want a green new deal and free health care um aren't you forgetting to ask someone like israel if that's okay new deal i'm the author of the green new deal the green new deal the green new deal is my phrase from my first book in 2008. There's nobody more committed to criminal justice reform than me, ecological solutions, the whole deal. He is very, for sure, criminal justice reform is a big deal to him, so much so that he worked with the Trump administration
Starting point is 01:29:24 in order to try to get a criminal justice reform bill passed, which was, of course, filled with a bunch of, beyond centrist nonsense, right-wing fucking horrid. This is like someone being proud of like doing welfare reform with with the the Clintons in the 90s. Like let's uh, yeah. These are our ideals as progressives. We should fight for them. We should.
Starting point is 01:29:52 We need them now more than never. We certainly should. But what does that have to do with supporting Hamas? What does it have to do with putting up candidates who say we should have no police, no prisons? We can't deport anybody, even if they commit rape or murder. murder, Israel shouldn't exist. These are terrible ideas. These are awful ideas. Where did these ideas even come from? If we want people to join this party, when people come to the party, you want to give them a wonderful punch bowl of wonderful ideas like this. Who is putting the poop
Starting point is 01:30:24 in the punch bowl? Okay. So, like, he's got to stop this poop in the punch bowl metaphor. It is, not only is it not working, but it makes for an incredibly off-putting video. I just, I don't like the word poop. I don't know when poop became the standard word. Yeah, what's your word for poop? I guess I say shit. When I was growing up, it was poo, which I guess is terrible too. Pooh is bad.
Starting point is 01:30:55 You know, I think the adult, you know, way is saying shit. Doodoo. I like Dookie or Doodoo. I like judo. Some people say boo-boo. That's not something in my culture, but I respect all cultures. Is that what Kendrick the Marr meant when he was like, boo-boo! Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:31:14 I think it's, that is, for what I can tell, mostly black community phrase for do-do is boo-boo. But they also say doo-doo. Write us in the comments about how you describe feces. You know what? You know what my parents called it when I was a kid? I feel like this in and of itself traumatized me in some weird subtle way. I can't quite put my finger on. BM.
Starting point is 01:31:41 Yeah. Yeah. That sounds. I was going to guess BM for bowel movement. Yeah. Just very clinical. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:31:51 This is what I kind of thought. I was like, Daniel seems like you grew up in a household where dad was like, did you have a B.M? Yeah. He asked me if I had a B. and he told me about the ins and outs of puberty. Oh, God. There's too much poo in this episode.
Starting point is 01:32:09 Yeah, but literally, that's how he pronounced it anyway. Yeah, here are these bad ideas. These ideas are punchbowl. These are regressive ideas. How do you know? Look at the ideas on this side. If you lived in a world where everybody could see a doctor when they got sick, if they didn't have a pin in their pocket,
Starting point is 01:32:28 if everybody could get an education, as far as their learning and desire could take. Yes. If everybody had clean air and clean water. What is this video footage? Is this all AI? No, that's got to be. Just stock shit?
Starting point is 01:32:41 Stock. Yeah, yeah. He's buying stock footage. That shit is not cheap, by the way. He's doing well. Putting people for no reason. Would that be a good world or a bad world? It'd be a great world.
Starting point is 01:32:51 Yeah. We need to progress toward that world. I love that next year to go. But if we had a world in which crime was legal, If we had a world in which instead of putting people in prisons, you took them out and put the good guys in prison. If we had a world in which Hamas led Israel, like is called progress. That's called progressive. Now, if you live in a world where there were no police and no prisons so that in your neighborhood, any gang member, terrorist, pedophile, clan member could do whatever they wanted to, is that progress or regress?
Starting point is 01:33:28 If you lived in a world where we said, well, you can be a terrorist if you want to as long as you feel oppressed and anybody get blown up at any time and people will make excuses for it. Is that a better world? Is that progress? Or is that regressing to a lawless chaotic state? If we lived in a world where people could literally get elected to office with the only qualification being that they went and celebrated a mass murder of his... Fuck you! Can you both? Fuck you.
Starting point is 01:33:58 If you want to make the case that we shouldn't be engaging in anti-Israel politics or that it's a bad, that it won't, you know, that it's not a winning issue. Right, right. Or that it's morally wrong to want to destroy a sovereign country or whatever. Fine. Make that case. But don't be a fucking coward and do this triple or double lie, which is the idea that, A, the only qualification is to have a tent. ended October 8th rallies. And that B, those rallies were about celebrating Hamas atrocities, as opposed to what they
Starting point is 01:34:37 were, which is raising fucking alarms about the genocide, which had already started. Yes. Yes. And beyond that, also, like, you know, you talk about the lies in this video. The other lies are that he in any way gives a shit about the tweets that Dari Elisa had about like abolishing ice or being, you know, a prison abolitionist or whatever. Like he's bringing those things into it to use as like, this is someone who believes that murder is allowed, like, in order to then go.
Starting point is 01:35:16 And also, what's all this thing about not allowing the apartheid state of Israel to continue doing apartheid? That seems a little weird too now that I come to things. think of it. It's the entire impetus for this video. He's not being paid by the fucking like police unions to make this shit. He's doing fucking, uh, the bidding of Hasbaris. That's what this is. That's the sum total. Israelis, if all elected officials celebrated mass murders, is that a better world or a worse world? These are not progressive ideas. Do you notice that every time he has a little
Starting point is 01:35:50 juxtaposition like, is this progress or regress? Is it better world? Or worse world? that he zooms in and zooms out. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, dude. That's so, you know, he can emphasize the points that he's making. Oh, I pity the poor intern. I know. I mean, this is like these, this is a video for a literal child.
Starting point is 01:36:10 Like, you have to be really baby brain to be like, yeah, that's true. I'd rather live in a world that have free health care than live in a world in which people are allowed to kill me. It's like, yeah, so would everyone, bro. But if the question is a place in which people are allowed to kill you is bad, I don't know if you've heard about what Israel has done to Palestine in the, let's just say, past three years for brevity's sake. It's just complete fucking, you know, complete nonsense. These are regressive ideas. And I'm old enough to know the difference.
Starting point is 01:36:45 And you're smart enough to know the difference. Ideas that make the world. I'm old enough to know something about regression. I mean, it was, you know, some of you weren't even born back when I was a college student with dreads and a radical posture. When I was a Maoist third worldist and my whole thing was doing spoken word raps about freeing Palestine. I've been there and I've regressed so I could teach you a thing or two about regression. You think I've progressed? You should see my hair line.
Starting point is 01:37:14 I'm an ideological moonwalker. Exactly, dude. Here we go. that help us progress to a better place. Those are the ideals of the Democratic Party. If you were not born rich, lucky, or famous, you need a Democratic Party. That's what we're for. That's what we're about.
Starting point is 01:37:34 Ideas. People like Dan Goldman. Right, exactly. And Nancy Pelosi. Yeah, you know. If you were not born rich, famous, lucky, let's say, conservative, then you need us. Yeah. Oh, God.
Starting point is 01:37:51 That are literally insane, nutty, moronic, dangerous. Okay. So just real quick. Around him is the nutty ideas. It says, no prisons, no police twice. No borders. But mostly it says, we love Hamas. Support Hamas.
Starting point is 01:38:10 No Israel. And then one says no deportations, which I, hey, could you expand on that one, Van? I would like to hear your argument about deportations real quick. I noticed that that's missing in your, you know, it would be regressive. Like, you'll talk about how we should, police should exist or how prisons should exist to put in criminals. But I want to hear your nuanced argument about no deportations. I want to hear you talk about how sometimes, sometimes you've got to just round folks up and ship them. Ship them wherever the fuck.
Starting point is 01:38:46 I want to hear your nuanced take about how ICE needs to exist. That's what I want to hear. Bigoted, are not progressive. They're regressive and they should not be in our point. I do feel worried about you, you opining about deportations. There's only one person on this two-person panel who's ever been deported. That's right. That's a good point.
Starting point is 01:39:08 I'm not going to tell you what I think about the policy, but my lived experience giving some authority. Yes. Whether or not I'm against deportation. is none of your business, but having been deported, I actually quite enjoyed my deportation. It was one of the happiest days of my life because it got me out of jail.
Starting point is 01:39:28 That's true. You got a lucky deportation. I swear to God, that fucking, that flight, I remember every minute of that flight, I put on Soundgarden Rusty Cage in my fucking phone, which had just been given back to me after three and a half weeks. And as the plane took off and Mexico receded beneath me,
Starting point is 01:39:45 and then we crossed over the American border. And then the Canadian, I nearly wept with joy. So I'd say I wish everyone as happy a deportation as me. Everyone should try it. Everyone should be deported. It's great. That's my final position. Yeah, all deportations are like that deportation.
Starting point is 01:40:02 We all know that for a fact. Okay, just ending his video. People who are promoting these nutty, crazy backwards ideas are party poopers. Literally. They're coming to the party and pooping in our punch bowl. And they need to stop. Every party has a poop, but that's why we invite. All right.
Starting point is 01:40:24 What the fuck are you doing, you scatological freak? Yeah, dude, you're getting weird with it. I get that you started off with this poop idea. This guy's cuckoo for caca. This guy, yeah, this is too much for me. I'm still, I need to have lunch and now I don't want it anymore. So thank you, Van Jones, for your, wonderful analysis of the situation with socialists.
Starting point is 01:40:50 It is going to be interesting to watch people like Van Jones and other like centrist shills, pro-Israel or not. It's going to be interesting to see them how they're going to try to take this on because they have to somehow maintain this fiction that they love the idea of free health care or I love the idea of free college. Or I love the idea of a big tent Democratic Party. Right, exactly. I love the idea of representative democracy and people having their say. Yeah, yeah. And voters making their voices heard. But if you're going to go out there and say that Israel is not allowed to do whatever it wants to five million Palestinians, then...
Starting point is 01:41:34 Or that we shouldn't pay for it? Or that we shouldn't pay for it? I'm starting to think we don't deserve that health care. That's what I'm starting to think. I'm starting to think we haven't earned that free college that we used to have. in the 60s. I think about that all the time, how there was like,
Starting point is 01:41:50 University of California used to be free. Mm. It is insane that we at one point had free college and we were just like, nah, that's done now. How much does it cost now? It's like, I don't know.
Starting point is 01:42:04 I mean, I'm still paying off. I still got another 10 grand in debt. I think it was somewhere upwards of 30. Patreon.com slash badhusbar. That's right. Yeah, patreon.com slash baddestbarra. Help me get out of student debt.
Starting point is 01:42:19 When I went to McGill, tuition for Canadian students was like 1,800 a semester. You know, it's much, much more than it now. I think it's close to 10,000. But, and a lot more than that for international students. But yeah, no, it's crazy. I mean, Van Jones imagines a world in which you get universal health care and then you go to your doctor,
Starting point is 01:42:40 but your doctor can't pinpoint what's wrong with you. and then it turns out that you have like elimination of Israel-related effective disorder. You're just so depressed because along with all those good ideas came all the poop. That's right. Punchbowl. And like, like, you know, we're just going to have a rash of, it's going to crash the health care system, all the sadness and despair around a Jewish ethno state no longer existing in the Middle East. That's right.
Starting point is 01:43:06 You know, you have to think about all those people that's putting out of work all the sudden. As soon as, you know, you think about. Universal health care, as soon as you think about ending U.S. support for Israel, you got to think about all the people who are out of work because of it, you know? Settler effective disorder. That's right. Before we get out of here, I have one more thing. I did not know that boy George was a Zionist.
Starting point is 01:43:34 I found out that recently. He's a has a has a has a barakameleon. That's great. he comes and goes and now he is going so this is boy george boy george is a true hero this is a picture of him and it says boy george quote hitting israel is very fashionable right now but i've always said fashion is for the weak while style belongs to the brave and the strong i don't mind the distinction between fashion and style yeah totally that's that's a useful distinction yes uh that Fine. That's good and all. But what I was not expecting was that he would put out a song, that I was looking it up to see if this was a real song, him singing it, or AI. I still don't know. But according to various music websites, this is him, his song. And the song is called,
Starting point is 01:44:41 We will dance again. Again? Yeah, we will dance again. Remember the whole We Will Dance Again thing? That's what I'm saying. We will dance again again. We will dance again again. And this is his song and it is, of course, for some inexplicable reason in the style of reggae.
Starting point is 01:45:03 And here it is for everyone. Ord near code. We will dance again in Hebrew. Brup, bra. You say genocide I say war All right So just so
Starting point is 01:45:31 And the first opening line is You say genocide, I say war What is this fucking potato Are we calling the whole thing off? You fucking, that's how we're going to start? All right Buckle in You're tight
Starting point is 01:45:45 It's what the armies for When you're attacking Does it get ugly Does it get ugly Does it get ugly? You bet it does You bet it does When I know you want to kill
Starting point is 01:45:59 Me for fucking my cuss Every last one of us Every last one of us Me for fucking my ass Every last one of us Fucking my own cousin You never mentioned October 7
Starting point is 01:46:12 Young girls Raid against trees Oh my what? Hold on hold on I need to need to take a breath. Young girls raped against trees is the lyric. Yeah, yeah, it sure is.
Starting point is 01:46:40 I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. The first, the, the, the first pop star to, to write a song just by going through like a Zaka report, you know? Right. Yeah, exactly. God damn, wish we could unproblematically drop a dance hole feature on this.
Starting point is 01:47:01 Yeah, so first thing. he thought. He was just like, damn, this would slap if it was sort of regato all for the crime of, yeah, yeah, when the Hamas paratroopers or parachuted in, you know, they paraglided in. They were planning on just, you know, having a psilocybin ceremony, all that, but then they saw that they saw people dancing. We're committing the crime of dancing.
Starting point is 01:47:24 Yes, that's right. This was a sort of a crime in the sort of the footloose fashion. Exactly. Yeah, yeah. is the John Lithgow of the Middle East. That's what happened. Like she, propaganda fueled by the internet, it feels so weak.
Starting point is 01:47:45 It sure does. Oh, I'm so glad that the chorus features the most boring four-cord progression. I know. We will dance again, not now. We'll dance later to a better song. Maybe karma chameleon. But if you're a...
Starting point is 01:48:18 Oh, my God. I don't... I'm not... Why start now, boy, George. A human. I need to be more human. I need to eat various carbon-based life forms and breathe oxygen and nitrogen
Starting point is 01:48:40 and swim in hydrogen to oxygen. And I'd like a curry goat rice in peas. Let me get that curry goat rice. in peace and I want peace in the Middle East. By the way, by the way, I listened to the episode you guys did with Negar Mortizavi on Friday as I was driving through Maine. Great episode. Nice, nice work both of you. Yeah, thank you. Aya.
Starting point is 01:49:09 Yeah. It was a good episode, though. Yeah, did pretty good there. I was good for New England drive. It was a fun one. A best of fun one. But you wanted to fact check something. You seemed to believe that the Jamaican curse, the expletive, is blood clot as in a clot in the blood. Like a blood clot in the brain? That's not what it is.
Starting point is 01:49:34 No. Oh, no. You know what blood clot? Yeah, it's blood cloth and bum cloth. It's like rags. It's tampons and toilet paper. Okay. Well, listen, it was either that.
Starting point is 01:49:49 or it was a gaisler. So I was like, I hope it's just a blood clot. What's Ross clot then? I'm not sure. I've heard that one. They'll say, Bomba Ross clot. Anyways.
Starting point is 01:50:05 I think Ross is just a syllable you can add to anything. Oh, I love that. Man, I love Jamaica. Speaking of love in Jamaica, let's keep this point. I love the shit I make up about Jamaica without having been there or knowing anything about it whatsoever. I love inventing shit about Jamaica and thinking, damn, that's cool. Good for them.
Starting point is 01:50:22 Yes, I. Yes, I. Not now. Oh, we're doing this again. I stay in with me enjoy doing all sorts of human teens. Me enjoy going walk to trees. Me enjoy eating food every day, bitch. Suck it dicks every day.
Starting point is 01:51:10 Clits. I do trust me, we will dance again. All right, that's, I think that's as good as it gets. I think that's, I think it's a repeating and then it's going to end. Boy, boy, George. Boy, George. Boy, George. Look.
Starting point is 01:51:37 Goy, goy borge. Yeah, goy George. Pretty, you know what? Listen, it's hard out here to stay relevant in these streets. I'm glad that you found a way to talk about it. We'll say on this podcast as, you know, as two of the community that you stand with, thank you for your service to all Jews everywhere and maybe just do whatever genre culture club was. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 01:52:12 that seemed like that was a fine that was good enough cultural appropriation club cultural appropriation club is not as good you know what I'm saying like I get that you like reggae I know that British but a culture club was in a time of
Starting point is 01:52:26 of cross-cultural blending in the pop world everything was you know but it was good quality yeah there was there was some Caribbean influences this is quite different and it's in the service of something quite different And I'm still not entirely certain that this is not AI.
Starting point is 01:52:47 Like that there's, I don't, it just sounds so different from karma chameleon that I don't need to know. Do you really want to hurt me? That's right. I don't. Stop thinking that I do. Well, that's the show, guys. That is our show. And boy, am I so glad to have been able to do another episode before I officially sign off for, a officially sign off for.

Starting point is 01:54:37 Bangor sandwich shop in Bangor, Maine two days ago, or was it yesterday? No, two days ago. Who were just coming from the Democratic conference where they were replacing Platner. And they were outside doing a pro-Palestine vigil. And yeah, they had signs and stuff, and they're like, they're huge Baddus Barra fans. Really? Huge Greyzone fans. One of them was telling me all about how excited they are about my brother's book,
Starting point is 01:55:04 which they just announced on the Grey Zone stream. She's like, tell your brother, we need that book immediately. He's got a book coming out about the Ukraine War. And also big fans of the Katie Halper show. And one of them said, oh, you're the musical, Mate. You're the one who did that Starship song with Katie Halper. Then nothing's going to stop us now.
