It'll be out on all digital platforms later in the month and vinyl and CD in the next few months. Of course. I love that. I love that. I love that. It's really good. You played me, I think most of the musical while we were driving around in Jordan. Yes, the unmixed version. Yes. But even unmixed, it sounded fucking amazing. So I can't wait to hear what it's like, fully mixed and mastered. Yes, please. You can see there are links in the description. Those are important links, click them. And then that's how you find out about things and subscribe to stuff.
Starting point is 00:04:29 Today's episode is brought to you by Gaza Champions. Gaza Champions is a mutual aid initiative that connects global volunteers with Gaza and families in need. Each volunteer is paired with a family's fundraiser and supports it through creative online and offline efforts. Champions also builds a personal connection by becoming pen pals with the family that you are supporting. The initiative is more than fundraising. It transforms passive solidarity into active resistance. So if you have any money and you would like to give it to people more in need than, you know, a musical theater writer and a stand-up comedian, you can do that now by going to
Starting point is 00:05:13 Championgaza.x-Y-Z. That's C-H-A-M-P-I-O-N-G-A-Z-A-D-X-Y-Z. Z. And for those of you who are in Canada or the UK, when I say Z, I mean Zed. So that's important for you to know. Zed's dead. Baby, Zed's dead. What's the spin? Zed is dead. Well, today we got to be mournful. We got to say goodbye to two great ones, two 80-year-olds who died on the same day. Unfortunately, we did not get the trifecta on that day of a third 80-year-old that some of us might have been wishing, you know, wishing the best for. And the best would have looked like, well anyway
Starting point is 00:05:53 we all know what we're saying here we all know what we're saying we both wanted both of our dad's dad I'm just kidding my dad's 82 he doesn't qualify someday he made it well yeah uh so we got dolly pardon of course yeah a real one a real one and this is
Starting point is 00:06:10 her album Jolene just incredible shit this is incredible songwriter incredible musician incredible humanitarian incredible person if you need to pick me up at any point I recommend looking up her and Kermit the Frog singing fly, excuse me, Sly and the Family Stone everyday people on the Muppet Show. It's one of the most beautiful things.
Starting point is 00:06:30 So then I had to come up with a couple of Dolly-related things to go with that because I've got a bunch of other Dolly Parton, but I figured why not vary it up. So, hello, Dolly. Hello, Dolly, yep, I expected that. Carol Channing. And then, of course, Parton. Well, Parton is such sweet sorrow. the song
Starting point is 00:06:51 The parting glass And to all the girls Who are I Bunked I did not bunk them drunkenly Or whatever the lyrics are Yeah yeah yeah I thought I had the kids
Starting point is 00:07:04 To all the daws I fought in the bar That's right And to all the tigues I mispronounced I mispronounce them purposely Anyway, I thought I had like the Clancy Brothers singing it or the Irish Rovers or the Chieftains. It turns out I don't have any of those,
Starting point is 00:07:25 but I do have the Pogues. Oh, sick. Rum, Sodomy and The Lash, which are three things we always associate with Dolly Parton. That's right. Especially the Lash. It's actually not on this LP, but it is on the EP that was released with this LP,
Starting point is 00:07:39 which I have somewhere I can't find it. And on Spotify, it's part of this album. So it'll be on the playlist. Hell yeah, dude. I saw a video of her. That's the parking glass. I love that. I saw her in a video of her in Ireland at a random bar and they just sing that song that she
Starting point is 00:07:55 wrote and it's just just like gorgeous song. And she just like, you know, kind of here on vacation, but whatever. And then it's just one of the most beautiful experiences ever. She seemed like they're really the coolest. Yeah. Like her, that's up there with Paul Robeson singing Joe Hill to a bunch of Welsh minors. Yeah. You know, minors with an E.
Starting point is 00:08:16 I know. It's a weird way to describe children. That's right. Singing to the Welsh and it's probably some minors. And then we also lost Tim Curry. So we got the Rocky Horror Picture Show soundtrack. Oh, sick. There he is, the absolute boy.
Starting point is 00:08:35 Yes. The sweet transvestite, transsexual from Transylvania. There's been a lot of discourse online of younger queer people being like, this is homophobic or transphobic and older queer people being like, like, shut the fuck up. You don't know what life was like then. None of which is any of my business, but I find it. Yeah, I'm really glad to have missed that discourse.
Starting point is 00:08:54 Yeah. I hadn't heard it. And I'm just like, you know what? Good. Gone. Let's do the time warp again. And there's our girl, Susan Surin. And of course.
Starting point is 00:09:03 Yes. So we got some good Palestine advocates. And then I was thinking, well, what else can I do for Tim Curry? Well, Tim Maya, who is a wonderful Brazilian singer. This is his self-titled album, really, really good stuff. I've got so much great Brazilian stuff that is, like, Brazilian music is the best, it's like the best, it's the most consistently quality of any country's output, like in any genre, the Brazilians just do it better than anyone. And then I thought, well,
Starting point is 00:09:31 Curry, Curry, what could, I don't have, I don't have any, anything Curry related. Like, there's that Indian, the Indo-British group corner shop from the 90s, but I don't have them. Sure. I was like, Vindaloo, nope. Denzel Curry is a rapper, but I don't have anything by him. Tanduri, nope. So I thought, well, what about Corma chameleon? Corma. Corma chameleon?
Starting point is 00:10:02 That's as good as I could do. Boy George. And I was thinking that if Boy George had done, like, instead of like an AI Jamaican thing, like an AI Bollywood thing, that might have, he would have been the Corma Camelian. and you call it genocide oh you know what not doing it
Starting point is 00:10:19 I say war no no no sorry it's the culture club the culture club color by numbers a very good album made by actual humans
Starting point is 00:10:31 back in the 1980s and he was prettier back then too yeah back you know before whatever happened happened so rest in peace
Starting point is 00:10:40 Timothy Curry Timothy Curry and the great Dolly Parton. See you and the Great Beyond Y'all. Okay, that's what's spinning in the Matte household. But before we bring on our guests, there's just one more thing. One more thing I want to get into real quick. This is unexpected. We didn't talk about a pre-guess thing.
Starting point is 00:11:02 We didn't. And I'm doing it anyways. I love it. I love being surprised. It'll be a cold read for me. It actually won't be because you also talked about this. on our group chat. It's the Breonna Wu tweet.
Starting point is 00:11:16 I gotta read this. I gotta read this shit. Brianna Wu always, you know, it's weird because I've never muted her, I've never blocked her. She's never blocked me, credit where credit is due.
Starting point is 00:11:28 And she doesn't come through my, like, newsfeed all that often, but when she does, it's just bangers. And by bangers, I mean the most unhinged shit. Like bang,
Starting point is 00:11:40 bang your head against the wall. Like, Bangor bus. Yeah. Bangor bus. Someone on Twitter said, no one has ever deserved an ally the way Zionists deserve
Starting point is 00:11:52 Brianna Wu. I know. I know. Talk about truly manifesting the worst type of friend you could possibly imagine. Brianna Wu out here doing her has Barra thing.
Starting point is 00:12:05 You know, she says a lot of shit. But she is once again doing the continuing tale of too familiar. And by too familiar, I mean feeling so comfortable with her place as an ally to the Jewish people that she is now
Starting point is 00:12:22 adopting slurs that she believes is okay to say and she's doing it in an ironic way, in a way that's edgy. Are you guys ready to get your edge lord on? Time to edge. Here it is. Hi, I need to make an apology
Starting point is 00:12:39 about something I said that crossed the line. Free Palestine posted a video of a Jew condemning Israel in my mentions and asked what I thought about it. I'm sorry, this turning free Palestine into like a name, like is the weirdest new thing. She just says free Palestine. That's what she calls any supporter. Yeah, Am Israel-A-Ka-Ka-I posted. Right, exactly. Posted a video of Jew condemning Israel in my mentions and asked what I thought about it.
Starting point is 00:13:08 I blithely said, quote, he's a capo. This was insensitive and wrong. And I apala dot, dot, dot, dot. Yeah, that's a total lie. I don't apologize at all. And I'm not sorry. It's womb in nature. I 100% stand by that comment.
Starting point is 00:13:32 I've been invited to enough Shabbat at this point to know that. Very Shabbat. Much hala. Oh, I've been, I've been, I've Shabbat before. I shabby things all the time. Two weeks ago I shaboot with some friends at mine. That's right. Have you ever shabut?
Starting point is 00:13:58 Where's your closest bathroom? I got a Shabbat. I got to take a Shabbat. I've been invited. And the people all sit, sit down. Sit down. Ragged Shabbot. Sit down, sit down, sit down.
Starting point is 00:14:13 All right. I've been invited to enough Shabbat at this point to know that's exactly what Jews that are actually connected to Jewish life say about the jerk stores selling them out to this lunatic freak movement. And it's actually way forward. Davida Simon, jerk stores? I'm sorry. What is this bespoke compound noun insult?
Starting point is 00:14:34 That doesn't work at all. I mean, it's like Seinfeld insult. the jerk store called and they ran out of you. This is a... Oh, that's a... Okay. Okay, forget it. I don't know Seinfeld enough.
Starting point is 00:14:47 Well, you know, you've got to be more Jewish is the problem. You're just not quite Jewish enough to know as much Seinfeld as me, someone who's holocally not Jewish knows. But the... Just her use of jerk store in there, like she doesn't want to say assholes because that would be too offensive. Bitch, you just say capo a bunch and pretended to... apologize for it. The greatest thing about this.
Starting point is 00:15:11 Well, you know, assholes are like opinions. You get two Jews. There's three of them. Wow. Wow. Holy shit. We wanted you to be Zionist. Crazy Jews. All right. Fucking great. So anyways. And yet, she decided to add just one more comment right under it. She replied to her own tweet with this,
Starting point is 00:15:37 Can a Jewish friend please give me the K-pass? know she's probably going to say I was talking about the word capo I'm pretty sure she wants to call you and me a kike like I'm almost positive go for it do it please there are fewer words in the English language that trigger me less than kike it triggers me a little it makes me laugh yeah it's the funniest what I like to act whenever someone actually earnestly calls me a kike especially online I'm like bro this is this is the most old school shit you might as well it's like you know when you hear really old slurs it's just like you're dying a dung beetle moon beam and you're just like I don't I don't even know dude
Starting point is 00:16:17 people say so chill we're going to have to pose this to rumble look the K word is a very specific thing and asking for a pass is hilarious because she wants the she wants a cosine people can I call people a capo uh it's it's but yeah the capo thing it's like it would be like me asking for a pass from black people to call someone else a bitch-ass-ho or something. An Uncle Tom. It's an, yeah. Yeah. There you go.
Starting point is 00:16:48 Uncle, that's it. Yeah. It's asking, you know, yeah, black people, oh, can I get the Uncle Tom pass? Which is weird, given that you've apparently already had it. You've given your last tweet. But there's also, I think she 100% is baiting and is like, oh, I want to say the K word. I'm going to call Daniel Kike, which is very funny to me. But the great thing about this is that even this was a bridge too far for some Zionists.
Starting point is 00:17:17 This one guy, and this was a tweet tweeted by or retweeted by Alon Levy. But this guy, I think we've talked about him, Ben M. Friedman. He's a guy who, like, you look at his face, you're just like, damn, that's a lot of places. He's a Brit who recently made Elia. Oh, is he British? Yeah. Oh, okay. That explains.
Starting point is 00:17:37 Yeah, yeah, yeah. Anyways, he wrote this, no one, and this is a quote tweet, no one, Jew or non-Jew should use Capo as a slur. Capos were prisoners, placed in unimaginable circumstances, many making choices in order to survive, some committed terrible acts, others help their fellow prisoners. None of us have ever stood in their shoes. Today's anti-Zionist Jews who turn on other Jews do so in circumstances infinitely less dire. Condem that behavior for what it is, but don't turn the moral nightmare of the camps into a condo. temporary insult, capos disturb historical seriousness and human empathy not to be reduced to a slur. And I got to say, as a capo, as a capo, I appreciate that. Very much so.
Starting point is 00:18:23 Tried of all this capo shaming. Yeah, I mean, honestly, I was like reading that and I was like, actually, I truly, and this is a guy who I don't agree with on fucking anything. I mean, he's a pretty disgusting views of all in all. But I will say he is 100% right about. this, you know, look, the Jew, I don't fully agree with him saying that, you know, Jews calling other Jews that, I'm just like, I don't, honestly, I don't have that much of an opinion. I have more of an opinion on Brianna Wu deputizing herself as the Capo Finder and being like, hey, guys, I could do it, right? I've had Shabbat before. Like, that to me, I'm like, it is appreciated when someone is telling people like Brianna Wu, no, you don't.
Starting point is 00:19:14 And I agree with you. We got to kill all the Palestinians, but come on. Like, at least it's at least it shows like, I don't know, some level of dignity that still exists. If not, you know, not that I give a shit that much. But I thought that was a good tweet. Her and the Zionists of a long and fruitful alliance. Oh, dude. Yes.
Starting point is 00:19:34 I hope she wins the Israeli elections. Yeah, yeah, me too. God. Bree, from B.B. to Breebrie. Dude, Breebrie. Prime Minister Breebrie. Well, I think that is enough before we introduce our guest, and now it's time to do so. But before we do, I just feel a little naked without any records displayed behind me.
Starting point is 00:20:00 So let me just do a quick little thing, okay? Okay. Okay. So that's what's spinning in the Mate household. Okay, time to introduce our guest. Very excited to have this guest on today. She is a filmmaker and the host of the Sabby Sabs podcast. Ladies and gentlemen and everyone else, welcome to the podcast, Sabrina Salvatty. Hey. Thanks so much for having me on. Thank you so much for doing the podcast. How are you? How are you doing? I'm doing okay, all things considered. Yeah, that's a lot of things to consider. There's too many things to consider these days.
Starting point is 00:20:41 Cool. God, you're doing too much. Yeah, chill out, Hashem. So, Sabrina, thank you for coming on the podcast. It's called the Sabby Sabs podcast. You are Sabby Sabs. Can I call you Sabby Sabs? Yeah, you can call me Sabby.
Starting point is 00:21:00 Truly the best nickname. in the game. It is very good. It's a very good nickname. Hell yeah. Melly Mell. Richie Rich. Sabby Sabs. It's a great format. Miki Mek is, I believe, a producer on this American life, but it's
Starting point is 00:21:16 she sounds like a rapper. Miki Mek. Can you tell us... Go ahead, man. You go ahead. No, Daniel. No, you know what? Okay, yes, I will. You go ahead. When did you start your channel? What was the idea? I get the sense I get from it is that it's like left pop populism spoken in plain terms. It's not, I don't get the sense that you're coming with a whole lot of like highfalutin, you know, theory. You're talking about what's happening and how it
Starting point is 00:21:46 affects people materially in a way people can understand. And I really appreciate that. What was your intention in starting it? And what does the trajectory of the channel been? Yeah, so I came out of the Bernie movement. I was a big Bernie supporter, especially in 2020. I saw him at the Bernie rally here in Boston on Boston Common. There was over 10,000 people there. And I think that, you know, the way things turned out, I just remember being very shocked Super Tuesday. I couldn't believe that he didn't perform better than I felt he was going to. And I was paying a lot of attention into left independent media, also, of course, corporate media. And there was a stark difference in the way that corporate media talked about that type of campaign in those policies compared to left independent
Starting point is 00:22:37 media. And I just remember feeling very bitter and angry after Joe Biden won. And so I started the Sabby Sab's podcast to try to just get a feel of things from people like, how were people feeling that Joe Biden won? And he wasn't even the most popular, you know, politician. What does that? this mean for the future, for those of us who do support those types of policies, how much of a role does corporate media play in this decision-making for a lot of people? And so I started this podcast out of frustration because I felt like something was missing here. And after talking to multiple like voters on the ground, in particular, a lot of older black voters did not feel confident supporting Bernie Sanders. And I think that was something that I needed to investigate and dive a
Starting point is 00:23:26 little bit, you know, deeper into. And what I found is that, unfortunately, a lot of the attack ads against those types of policies, he's going to take your health care away. A lot of the propaganda that came from corporate media, unfortunately, worked very well on a lot of older voters. And that was something to me where I said, something has to, has to change. And I'm like, I don't know, maybe we need more like black voices in left independent media. Maybe that's what needs to happen. So I started the show. You need a Jim Clyburn antidote. You need to develop a vaccine against Jim Clyburn. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:24:03 So I started the show, you know, during that time, after Biden won, after the squad wouldn't force the vote for Medicare for all. Again, I just remember asking myself, what is happening here? And so that's why I started the show. The very first year was, I think, the most difficult year for me was the first year. Because no one knew who I was. I wasn't getting as many views. It took time. and then eventually things did like turn around.
Starting point is 00:24:29 But it took time and now it's doing really well. Oh, that's awesome. What were you doing prior to that? Like what was your background? Were you in organizing? Were you in labor stuff? Like what was your, how did you come to like what was your starting place basically? I was working at university.
Starting point is 00:24:47 So I worked at MIT and I worked at Boston University at that time. And, you know, I think that played into some of my bias as to what I thought was going to happen. because a lot of the students loved and supported universal policies and supported Bernie Sanders. And I forgot there's a whole other, you know, demographic out there that I wasn't really hearing from. Yeah. I'm sorry, but have you asked your corporate overlords? Representation matters, Sabby. There's a lot of talk about Medicare for all, but have you asked your local Blue Cross Blue Shield claims adjuster? This is what happens when claims adjusters aren't in the room.
Starting point is 00:25:23 We need to make room for corporate. corporate bodies in spaces. Yeah. Corporate bodies. And I was already doing some organizing then, but as time went on, I started to do more mutual aid. So I and myself and a couple of others, we started Boston Mutual Aid. So we do mutual aid organizations, like a couple of events throughout the year.
Starting point is 00:25:45 And we've been doing that for the past couple of years now, just trying to help people in the way that we can where our government has failed. So what I try to get people to understand is that electoral populations. politics is a tool in your toolbox, but it's not the only tool. And there are other tools that I feel like are just not being utilized or not being talked about. And I think building dual power is one of those, the way that you can do that. One instance is mutual aid. But the other one is a lot of us are living in some of these states that are ballot initiative states. And I feel like people are not focusing on what they can get done via the states. So I was hoping, you know, especially with this
Starting point is 00:26:19 show to show people, we can't just put all of our eggs in one basket and focus on what's happening on the federal level. We also have to pay attention to what we can do locally as well. I'm sorry, I'm a little confused. You said you were a podcaster, and I know you're a leftist, but it also sounds like you're putting out a fairly nuanced, practical, strategic, reasonable, and non-ideologically dogmatic message to your audience and really trying to speak to them and not down to them. Those things don't really line up to me. How dare you? It's a new model. It's a whole new model. Don't you know you're only supposed to care about politics once every four years?
Starting point is 00:27:00 Yeah, you know, it's interesting you talk about the role of the Democratic primaries in 2020 in sort of, you know, if not radicalizing you, at least getting you to radical enough to start a podcast, which I believe is the height of radicalism. I think Franz Fanon said that. Yes, I believe so. So, you know, it's interesting watching sort of a almost a repeat of the 2020 media character assassination that they did on Bernie, but now with Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan. You're seeing sort of the same tactics being used, including even bringing out Jim Clyburn to talk about, you know, him. you know, not having the right stuff or whatever. And yeah, it's just, it's been fascinating to watch that because I have the sort of a similar type of discussed when it comes to the establishment democratic politics.
Starting point is 00:28:13 Do you see the same tactics working this time around? Do you still feel as if institutional media is powerful enough to, bring him down or has their influence waned a bit? I don't think it's as powerful as it was in 2020. I think that independent media has really, really taken off. And a lot of people are just not watching, like, cable, you know, network television. Certain demographics, I would say.
Starting point is 00:28:44 A lot of older voters are still, you know, seeing those ads that are on network television. And they're paying attention to the mailers that, you know, arrive in their mailbox. So a lot of them still are paying attention to that. But I would say, you know, ultimately, I think what's disappointing right now is that I feel like El-Said is actually like playing into what they want, what the establishment wants. And it's like what Bernie did with Russiagate. They're trying to Hassan gate him. And right. And I remember Bernie on the, I remember the sinking feeling.
Starting point is 00:29:16 It was a few days before South Carolina. He's on the tarmac in Las Vegas, in Nevada, where he's just won a resounding victory. he's cresting high he's got all the leverage he's got all the power right and they're like there's reports that the kremlin wants you to win and it's this moment where bernie falls for it he's like well this we need no you know election interference is a serious issue and you know and i'm like dude this is not going to help you yeah okay but that also i don't think that is what hurt him there i think you know whereas the i'm a matte i'm a mattee matt i'm a matt i'm matt i'm matt i I have to make rush a gate the most important thing.
Starting point is 00:29:55 You have to bring up rush a gate. I understand. It's a family code. Contractually obligated. But, you know, whereas, you know, in this case, you know, I do see what you're talking about. You see the signs that he is going to, yeah, fall for this entire thing by apologizing. Thinking that apologies are going to get you anywhere.
Starting point is 00:30:23 Exactly. said this beautifully in a segment recently that we're going to play a clip from or the the title of it is you know dana bash is an intelligence op or something like that and uh we covered this on the last episode her incredible uh just just just brain dead hypocrisy like so ob and i did what you talked about was that there's people at cnn who have talked about how she conceals it badly unlike the others uh you know it made me think of that line in pulp fiction where Harvey Keitel says to Julia Sweeney, you know, just because you are a character, doesn't mean you have character. And in Dana Bash's case, just because you are intelligence,
Starting point is 00:31:02 doesn't mean you have intelligence. So here's that clip. But let's play out of it and then get your commentary. The DNC is trying to do everything that they can to take down El-Sayed's campaign. And he's caving into some of those things. And I think that's terrible. I think it's a mistake because the DNC is not going to like you.
Starting point is 00:31:23 They already decided that they don't want you to be a part of the club. This whole thing is that they are using Hassan Piker as an example. This is a pressure campaign to try to get him out of the way. Because he has been going and campaigning on the ground with a lot of these candidates that won. He helped a lot of these people. He also helped El-Sayed. I told you guys, that race was very close. So it makes you wonder what would have happened if he didn't help them.
Starting point is 00:31:53 Mm-hmm. Right? And unfortunately, this is exactly what they wanted to happen. El-Sayed has announced that he has no plans to campaign with Hassan Piker. And so the point that I'm trying to make is this. Yeah, and some people are going to say, well, he probably did it for political reasons. You know, he's maybe he talked to Hassan Piker behind the scenes. I'm sure he probably did. And he probably said, well, politically, I'm going to have to do this because otherwise, da-da-da. The point that I'm trying to make is that when you cave to them, that is not going to make them like you. They're still actively running ads and smearing El-Sayed. They're still actively smearing him.
Starting point is 00:32:36 So there's no need for you to bend the need to them because they still don't want you there. Absolutely. That hurts. You know, I have no plans to campaign with them. That just brings me back to like age 12. I think me and a girl are kind of going out, you know, and then some friends ask her, like, are you guys going out? She's like, no, we don't have any, we're not making any plans.
Starting point is 00:32:58 We have no plans to go see George of the Jungle together or whatever. That was my, it was more my generation than yours. Yeah, the Karate Kid Part 2. Sure, sure. Oh, man. That's a good. But can you talk some more about this, that line of advice that you're giving to El Ceyed and also your contention that Dana Bash is.
Starting point is 00:33:20 is not working for CNN primarily, or that CNN is not working for the facts primarily. Right. Well, the majority of voters in that primary voted for El-Sayed for the policies that he had at that time. They voted for him as he was. And if you didn't need to convince, I mean, this has to be very clear
Starting point is 00:33:45 that, like, you bending the need to the establishment, that's not going to make the... DNC all of a sudden welcome you with open arms. They already decided that they didn't want him there. And so he's playing into their game. And I don't know who's advising these candidates. I really don't. But I think this is a big mistake. He's out there now apologizing, apparently. He said he's apologizing to the Jewish community. He went to a synagogue and said, I said, I'm asking for a moment of mercy and grace. I don't know if he said mercy. For forgiveness and grace. For what? For something he said about the attack on the.
Starting point is 00:34:20 that synagogue. I think probably what he said was that guy who did it didn't do it out of the blue. He was grieving his family in Lebanon, which was absolutely 100% true. Yes, that is what he said. Yeah. So we are living in a time right now where the president of the United States says incredibly disgusting, vile things and is doing disgusting and vile things. He doesn't apologize for anything. Right. And you have Democrat candidates. that are saying the morally right thing, and now they're trying to apologize to appease the establishment and to appease the Zionist.
Starting point is 00:35:00 Like, this is a terrible strategy. The morally right thing and also the actually not so hard to understand thing, if you have any communication skills, which Abdul al-Said does. Like anything he's said or anything Hassan has said, like if I came out and said, Israelis are the new Nazis,
Starting point is 00:35:19 and I was running for, office, like that might be a complicated thing to parse and take a part and, you know, like you wouldn't want to say something like that because it's actually not easily explainable. It, I happen to think that there's truth in it, right? But these guys, the things they've said, if you actually, it takes as you say, like, you explained it perfectly easily on your show. Hassan himself explained it very quickly.
Starting point is 00:35:42 It doesn't, you don't have to be a PhD to, to be a voter who will, who will listen to someone reasonably explain a statement like that. And you know what I'm saying? So like the apology is also completely, it's an unforced error. Well, yeah, yeah. It doesn't work in in literally every single way you would hope an apology works, which is number one, in good faith, it's for people to take it in good faith. And if they don't accept the apology, even in bad faith, they explain why the apology isn't enough, it's worse than that. They just pretend that whatever apology you just gave doesn't exist and they make you do it over and over and over again. There is no one apology and then I'm done. It is now you are on the hook for an apology tour. Everyone gets to ask you the same question.
Starting point is 00:36:33 No matter how many times you disavow Hassan Piker, they will make you disavow Hassan Piker again. And, you know, in this case, he hasn't gone, you know, fully, I disavow Hassan Piker, but he's definitely trying to, like, signal, like, essentially what he's doing is, please stop asking me this, please stop asking me this. It's giving I don't want to be associated with Hassan Piker. Right. And you're right, because an apology, the nature of an apology, if you think about it in real life, right, it's to restore the relationship.
Starting point is 00:37:04 It's to repair something. You never had a relationship with these people in the first place. They have nothing but contempt for you and they want you going. And here's what happens, even despite the numerous attempts at, you know, calming the storm through, you know, half apologies or whatever. This is from CBS Today. CBS News wrote, as the nation prepares to mark 25 years since September 11, 2001, Abdul El-Said, the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate in Michigan may be facing the risk of renewed scrutiny and fresh political. attack. Wow, our nation's intelligence community is more on the on the pulse of the risk that Abdul al-Said is facing for being, for getting bad faith attacks from the media than they were
Starting point is 00:37:50 about the 9-11 attacks themselves. Yeah. And this brings in the Dana Bash part of the story. Yes. Which is that people have to understand how Zionism has such a foothold in corporate media. Yes. So Dana Bash, Wolf Blitzer worked for Apex. Yes. These are the things. Dana Bash, Wolf Blitzer, Jake Tapper, they're all Zionists. Yes. And so I firmly believe, and what I said later in that segment is that I firmly believe that Dana Bash is a Fed. Yeah. I really do believe this. Like this is, you know, not some conspiracy. Like they're, it's all over the place. Like people, I think sometimes when they think a CIA, they picture, you know, somebody out there doing like these, you know, stealth operations abroad. and they have all this high-tech gear. No, like a lot of times CIA is somebody as an office person, like, working next door to you.
Starting point is 00:38:47 There's someone who is, they may be a commentator, it may be a journalist. You know, I talked about this before when I went through this deep dive about Gloria Steinem. I mean, it's everywhere. The infiltration is everywhere. But Dana Bash is one of the ones I think that is more obvious about it, whereas others are involved. as well, they just hide it a little bit better than she does. But for her to sit up there and say what she said to Netanyahu, which was similar to what Hassan Piker said that they're attacking him for, it's so obvious, like, what is going on here? And so once you start apologizing once,
Starting point is 00:39:26 you will continue to apologize because they're going to come after you again for something else. That's right. Yeah. Yeah. It really is obvious. This takes it beyond, I mean, like, I grew up very influenced by Noam Chomsky's propaganda model, which taught me, okay, it doesn't have to be a conspiracy. It's like, you know, you don't have to be brainwalled, you don't have to be getting orders from the feds or from, even from your boss, because if you're Wolf Blitzer, if you didn't believe what you believe, you wouldn't be sitting in that chair, right? And that kind of covers it. And if I look back, that seems quaint. I'm not saying that wasn't the truth back then, but if you look at the kind of propagandists we have now, like, there's something extra about a Jake
Starting point is 00:40:06 tapper or especially when it comes to the Zionist issue, the level of fierce commitment that they have, because there used to be a kind of slickness about it and a kind of understatedness about it, and they would frame the debate in certain ways. But, you know, anchors who will interrupt guests to try and unfact-check them, you know, like to debunk a fact that they just said. Anyway. Well, no, I mean, it brings up this point where, you know, it's the tailway. wagging the dog type of thing. We just don't know with the Democratic Party. Who is calling the shots? When Jake Tapper and Dana Bash decide to try to essentially openly tank the Democratic Party's chance at holding a Senate majority in November, you know, my initial reaction is to go like, this is,
Starting point is 00:41:06 This is just how Zionist fucking control works. It's like this is them saying, them being the Israel lobby, saying, no, we would much rather just have Republicans stay in power. But at the same time, Democrats are also, by and large, afraid and or allergic to holding power. So they themselves, your Hakeem Jeffries, your Cory Bookers, your, you know, Slotkins, all of these people are, yes, they are avowed Zionists, but they are also cowards. So they are not wanting to hold power. And more to the point, the fact that they don't hold power means that they are better at fundraising. Democrats always are better at fundraising when they are not in power so they can point and go, look at how terrible things are. If only we were in power, you know, it's, I'm not sure,
Starting point is 00:42:10 I'm not sure who's pulling whose leg. All I know is both the Zionist lobby and the Democratic Party desperately do not want to have a, you know, an anti-Zionist in power in any sense. It's almost like the age-old question about the Israel lobby, right? Like, are Stephen Walt and John Mirosheme are right? That, like, they're pulling the strings and they're pushing U.S. policy? Or was Tromsky, right? No, these things are just confluent, right? Right, that's right.
Starting point is 00:42:42 That's the question. Are the Zionists trying to tank the Democratic Party or are the Democrats trying to tank the Democratic Party? Right. And I would have said, you know, it's hard to say. It really is because I have been watching since October 7th, 23, I've been watching the Democratic Party knowingly and willingly, shooting themselves in the foot over this issue when every day since October 7th, more and more Democratic voters have been vehemently against Israel.
Starting point is 00:43:17 No, it's okay, though. Hunter Biden just came and took the bullet out of the foot just the other day. Oh, did he? Oh, yeah, he said it was a mistake. In hindsight, it was a mistake for his dad to support a genocide. Oh, that's good. Yeah. That's always good.
Starting point is 00:43:29 Mistakes for me. Mistakes were made, Mr. Credible Hunter Biden will set everything right. Well, so, I mean, moving on to talking more about, you know, sort of in the same vein, this idea of apologizing for saying these things and using Hassan Piker as sort of the wedge issue. Laura Lumer did this recently. And I want to talk about this because Laura is just, she has a podcast. And, you know, so nothing but respect, podcaster to podcast. It's all solidarity for all scumbag podcasters. But no, she recently on her podcast, which I can't imagine anyone
Starting point is 00:44:14 watching because she's just not, I just don't know why anyone would want to watch Laura Lumer do anything. I think she's just, she's one of the most like horrid people, both in like, what she says, but also I just, I just can't look. It's like, she looks like jigsaw. But she went on her show and talked about Angie Nixon, Angie Nixon, who recently won her Democratic primary against Alexander Zinman. And she said this about Angie and about a myriad of other black leaders. Here is that clip. exist for a reason. And if you are one of these people that doesn't want a stereotype out there,
Starting point is 00:45:03 then, you know, maybe you should start speaking out. Call out the entitlement of these, as I like to call them, ghetto black bitches. And no, that's not, that is not painting all black women with the same brush. I don't think it belongs in the United States Senate. Unfortunately, it's already in the United States Congress. Angie Nixon, Ilhan Omar, Ayana Presley, Precii Bush, Katanji Bush, Katanji, Brown Jackson. So, first of all, gross. I'm sorry we had to play that.
Starting point is 00:45:35 Yeah, yeah, apologies. Maybe we should have done a trigger warning in advance for people who get triggered by the site. As I like to call them. Yeah, you're not kidding. Right. So she said this, you know, horrid thing, as she does. This is, you know, just her doing her normal rage bait thing.
Starting point is 00:45:54 This is how she makes her money. and Angie Nixon took to Twitter to kind of hit back. But first, let me show you exactly what was said. This is Laura Lumer said, the media will clip my language about Angie Nixon, Ilhan Omar, I honor, Presley, Corey Bush, and Katanji Brown Jackson, and then call me racist. I don't care. These women are all ghetto, entitled, race-obsessed, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. just a bunch of racist shit.
Starting point is 00:46:27 And then if you campaign with Hassan Piker, who said America deserved 9-11, and Angie Nixon, after she called supporters of resolutions, oh, resolutions honoring Charlie Kirk, quote, tools of white supremacy, you have no standing to lecture anyone
Starting point is 00:46:41 about offensive language and racism. I just want to point out this great quote. Look at the last line. You feels me. Yeah. With a Z. With a Z because she's just, to continue her racist tirade.
Starting point is 00:46:59 Angie Angie Nixon said this, girl, you ate dog food on camera. In the words of Queen Latifah, who you call it a bitch? Do you guys know about this? The dog food thing? Yes, I know about the Queen Latifah song.
Starting point is 00:47:15 I don't know about the dog food thing. Okay, well, I'm going to have to, I'm going to have to play it for you because this is, apparently this is real. So one of the prominent Twitter accounts, I think the menswear guy, apparently paid $100 to do have Laura Lumer do an ad read. And he set up a fake dog food company and made her eat dog food. Here you go.
Starting point is 00:47:42 I'm going to show you. This isn't a gimmick. This is not just some trash dog food from China. Okay. And I'm going to put this in my mouth right now. So it tastes like me. Damn. Maybe that is disgusting to you.
Starting point is 00:48:03 That is the greatest thing anyone has ever done. God bless you. God bless you, Mr. menswear man. Anyways, I just, I love the clap back of being like literally,
Starting point is 00:48:18 like literally who you call in a bitch. You just ate dog food is incredible. But, you know, Laura Lumer, you know, continued on her, racist tirade. Before you get to that, I want to ask
Starting point is 00:48:30 Sevilla question. Oh, please. Angie Nixon strikes me as someone who so far at least is showing, I mean, it's early days yet. But I like what I see in terms of her unwillingness to take bad faith questions seriously and unwillingness to add more fuel to the outrage fire by just redirecting and just really reading
Starting point is 00:48:56 her attackers for filth, you know, with real calm, judo-like precision. What are your impressions of her? Yeah, Angie Nixon, you know, when I interviewed her, the impression that I got from her is that she's just real. And I think we need more of that in politics, right? So she may not be everyone's cup of tea, but she's real. And a number of people came out to support her, and she won overwhelmingly against Alex.
Starting point is 00:49:26 Fendman. So I think that speaks. Yeah. Right. Resistance hero Alexander Vindman. That's right. That speaks volumes. And you know it was really interesting. And you probably seen this. I don't know. But it was very interesting to me that Hakeem Jeffries and all of the Democrats who came after Hassan Piker said absolutely nothing to defend Angie Nixon against this racist tirade from war. Homer. Surely the squad has said something. No. Rashida Talid. I saw that something. She was very vocal about it. But the others I haven't seen say anything. We need a breakaway squad. You know how the squad was a breakaway faction? We need a we need a
Starting point is 00:50:07 breakaway cell from the squad within a squad. A sub squad. A sub squad. A sub squad. Incept squad. West, West Moore said something. Westmore just said something. Very good. But the fact that Marjorie Taylor Green said something before the Democrats even said anything. That was just very appalling. Marjorie Taylor Green called her out for her racist. Again, this is coming from MTG. It's a great tweet. It's absolutely crazy how quiet the congressional black caucuses.
Starting point is 00:50:36 They have nothing to say. But if it were the other way around, you know, imagine if it were Angie Nixon who said something, you know, I guess anti, you know, Israel to Laura Lumer. Right, right, right, right. Because you imagine. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. These Hollywood Jap whores or something.
Starting point is 00:50:58 Right, yeah, yeah. That would be the equivalent. Jewish American princess for people don't know what JAP stands for. But yeah, no. With that tweet, plus the Jewish space lasers article, we read from Haarets on Friday, where Israel cats, the defensemen, I didn't know if you saw this, savvy.
Starting point is 00:51:15 Israel's actually trying to have laser beams from space. Yeah. He literally said, open space, it does not matter how much earthly territory you control. Yeah, in space, no one can hear you scream. With that article now coming out and Marjorie Taylor Green beating almost the entire squad and the professional black caucus to defending Angie Nixon against horrible racism, we owe MTG an apology. I'm sorry, that's it. That's fair enough. You can, you feel free. I understand that, uh, that you love MGT. I will say, um, the fact is, sorry, Piggy's looks like this is the last episode of bad.
Starting point is 00:51:52 You're just proving my point at him. You're just proving my point. No, but. Left Puritanism. Yes. No, I do think that the, it does actually say a lot that you've got the democratic establishment almost in lockstep in unison, focusing on whatever they think Hassan Piker said. And what is right and wrong to campaign with and, you know, what podcasters or Twitter streamers. are appropriate to talk to. And none of them will, of course, say anything about Laura Lumer.
Starting point is 00:52:31 They won't come out to defend Angie Nixon because they understand that this is someone who is more in El Saitz camp than anyone else. So why would they? They are not going to try to help another DSA or DSA-adjacent candidate, they're actively trying to stop them. So they don't actually give a shit about racism or anti-Semitism or anything. They only care insofar as they can use as a cudgel against the left. The Hudson Sucker proxy war. Right. Now, what's interesting about this is Laura Lumer is, I think, an interesting example of what Norman Finkelstein referred to two as Jews being white plus. Did you guys see this on on Hassan piker stream?
Starting point is 00:53:29 He he coined this. Mr. Piker. Mr. Hank Pecker. Mr. Routy Roddy Piper. Mr. Pipes of Peace. Yeah. Mr. Panpipes. He he went on his stream and they were talking, you know, about.
Starting point is 00:53:49 anti-Semitism in America and the difference between anti-Semitism and and let's say Islamophobia. And he coined this term. I'm just going to play a little bit of this clip. Jews are specifically Oshkanazi Jews in America, which is most of the Jewish people in America, are under the banner of white. Like no one, no one. I think white plus. Yeah. Well, if you ask me, if you.
Starting point is 00:54:15 He made Hassan so uncomfortable. Well, yes. I mean, because Hassan's trying to, of course, demonstrate that he is against anti-Semitism, takes the, quote, scourge of anti-Semitism, new streaming service just dropped.
Starting point is 00:54:30 I want to subscribe the White Plus so bad. That's every streaming service, Adam. White Plus. But, you know, and Norm is like, no, you don't even have to give that to your bad faith critics. In fact, being Jewish in America is not a hindrance. It's not an impediment.
Starting point is 00:54:46 He said this over and over again. Being Ashkenazi Jewish and American, he doesn't make the Ashkenazi Jewish. has your distinction because in America, it might as well be the same thing. It's not an impediment to school or jobs or political power. Yeah. And in fact, in cases, it can help. So, you know, leaving that part aside as to job prospects, I think one of the parts that is interesting to me is the ways in which White Plus does apply to Laura Lumer because of her specific brand of Islamophobic racism.
Starting point is 00:55:23 And she does all types of racism, of course. But she gets away with Islamophobia because of the fact that she is so tied to being a pro-Israel advocate. She's also a Fed. Yeah, oh, 100% she's a Fed. I mean, she's almost quite literally a Fed in that she was working for the Trump administration, at least in some capacity, right? You know, when it comes to the ICE arrests of people,
Starting point is 00:55:56 she has taken credit for many of them. But one other things she took... She's been behind, I think, a prosecution of Max Blumenthal. Oh, is that right? Yeah, yeah. She was a major impetus for him being detained at Delis Airport when he got back from Iran. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:56:10 Well, I'll tell you this. It turns out she was also, and she's taking credit for it, she was also instrumental in the recent detention and I believe deportation of Milo Ionopoulos. Oh, God. And one of the... Yeah, I know.
Starting point is 00:56:28 Fucking... This whole fucking... Every time we talk about Laura Lumer, and we don't do it that much on this podcast, Sabrina, but every time we do, I just, I'm like, there's this whole other world out there of just like evil clown villains. and it just, it makes me depressed. But I want to talk about the Milo being deported thing because as it regards to, you know, with regards to the white plusness of it all.
Starting point is 00:57:00 Now, they have had like a falling out a while ago, apparently. I mean, you know, and it's led, there's many reasons for why they've fallen out with each other. But one of the reasons is that Milo Yanopoulos went on, I think, multiple podcasts and broke this news, which was surprising to me, the news that Laura Lumer was, is not in fact Jewish. Let me play you this. But you know, I know you're lying because Jewish girls don't get BJs. Well, it just doesn't, yeah.
Starting point is 00:57:34 First of all, I need to stop the clip right there. That's not even, I just like, I don't know what fucking show this is, but that joke doesn't work. That's not even, I'm sorry. I'm already mad about that. Whatever that joke was. Shut up. She's not Jewish.
Starting point is 00:57:50 What do you mean? She's not Jewish. Laurel Luma just decided to be Jewish one day because she wanted to be rude about Muslims. She'd asked the organizers of a conference whether she could burn a Quran on stage. And they said, no, you have to give a speech. And so she ordered a Star of David necklace from Amazon.
Starting point is 00:58:06 Her mother is a British Christian. This is Mr. Hyde to Russell Brand's Dr. Jekyll. Like, this is who Russell Brand becomes in a full moon. This is werewolf Russell Brandt. God. Mr. Hyde and Mr. Hyde, dude. Mr. Hyde and Mr. Seek. Christ.
Starting point is 00:58:28 So, yeah, here's going into the genealogy. It does have some Jewish ancestry, okay? But she's never been to Temple. She's never been received in Judaism. When she went out to go to speak to the Republican Jewish coalition, she picked up the speech that I had written for her. And on the cover of the folder, she drew what she imagined was a Star of David. It was, in fact, a pentagram.
Starting point is 00:58:52 And she had to practice how to draw a Star of David immediately before she gave a speech to Jews where she was telling Rich Palm Beach Jews that she was one of them. It's the easiest star to draw. It's a triangle on top of another triangle upside down. Well, I guess if you're drawing the upside-down triangle, you're feeling a little bit homassie about it. So, you know, maybe. But I also, he also posted a video of Laura Lumer with the practicing. I got to play this for you guys.
Starting point is 00:59:23 Right, there we go. Very good. They're almost identical. Don't take photos of this. I don't want of people know. So, okay. So I don't know how true any of this is. Remember, keep in mind that my, Milo Yanopoulos is, you know,
Starting point is 00:59:44 And like he is bitchy. To use the word correctly, he is a bitch. And so he will just make stuff up. And it's very possible. But there is at least some, you know, mystery as to whether or not her mother is Jewish. Listen, if she's half Jewish on her father's side, you know, to me, that's fine. Whatever, you know, she is. We all know why you're saying that, man.
Starting point is 01:00:14 Yeah, of course. I'm allowed to say that because I am also a non-Jewish Jew. And what I find... You, Laura Lumer and Olivia Ryan Gould. I know, dude. I'm collecting... It's like somewhere between a dream and a nightmare blunt rotation. I would really like to be a part of that. I am sort of the reverse Laura Lumer, though, in that case. Because I'm like, you know, rather than I don't...
Starting point is 01:00:39 You know, I didn't start wearing a Star of David necklace to burn a Quran. I did it to start respecting a Quran. But this is, I think, a perfect example of white plus. The fact that she came out as a Christian is like, I want to burn a Quran. And people were like, no, don't do that, please. And then she starts branding herself as Jewish. And now this lane of racism is open to her. Now she is, you know, it's like, it's co-signed because it's like, oh, well, if we're doing it from the Jewish perspective, it is
Starting point is 01:01:13 okay to be uh, Islamophobic. It's okay to be anti-black. It's okay to be all of those things. Sabrina, I want to get your thoughts on like Laura Lumer and, um, her ability to be this racist. With regards to the idea of like, do you think she gets away with things because she's framing this all as pro-Israel advocacy or, or would she be justice free even if she were just some Christian lady? I think she would still be, uh, free to do so. but I think there would have been more pushback. I think there would have been more pushback if she was just a Christian lady
Starting point is 01:01:48 and she was saying these things. But she can basically just hide behind why I'm pro-Israel, I'm supporting Israel, right? Like, it's the same thing that you see like the type of rhetoric that comes from Ben Grevere and he walks through the halls of Congress, like no big deal. Like, and it's not condemned, right?
Starting point is 01:02:07 Like Mike Huckabee, when he's questioned about these things, he doesn't condemn it. Like Ted Cruz doesn't condemn it. like this whole idea that Israel can do whatever they want to do. And if you support Israel, then you have that ability as well. So the fact that, again, like Marjorie Taylor Green had to be the one to call her out before any Democrats did. And still, a lot of them are still very quiet. Like, where's Elizabeth Warren? Like, where's like, you know, all these quote unquote, we care about like social justice Democrats. Like, why aren't they saying anything? Again, it's because
Starting point is 01:02:41 Laura Lumer, you know, says she is Jewish, so they're not going to say anything to her about it. And that's a big part of the problem, right? So I think that people need to understand. I would say the majority of Americans don't even know who Laura Lumer is, for one. But for two, this comes out of insecurity. This is someone who is very insecure about themselves. I don't think that she likes herself. I guess the plastic surgery adds to that as well. But she just, she does not like herself. I think that when she hears someone like Angie Nixon, and, you know, she called Candace Owens that too. The ghetto, like she called her that too. I think when she looks at like Angie Nixon or she looks at like Candace and stuff, she sees two people who seem to be confident, something that she is not. And so she hits below the belt. Anytime you got to resort to like the racist attacks, you have nothing else to point to. So she's hitting below the belt.
Starting point is 01:03:39 But the fact that she's still allowed to do what she does and she has access to the Pentagon, she has a Pentagon pass, like as press. And I know journalists that have been around for years that can't get, you know, a press pass to the Pentagon. That tells you everything you need to know about her. Yeah, 100%. I find the fact that you can get away with this type of racism. Like, you can get away with this type of racism on the right, usually, I think, kind of no matter what, as long as you are firmly within sort of like the MAGA bear hug, if you're in that community, in the like anti-woke, whatever, you can say all of this shit. And, you know, there's not too many limits. You know, you have to maybe be, there are certain words you can't say.
Starting point is 01:04:33 But for the most part, you can, you can be as racist as you want to be. What I find, I think even more grotesque is the fact that whether or not she grew up Jewish or not, but the fact that she is using the state of Israel and using her apparent Jewish ancestry in order to essentially make it so she's allowed to do this type of racism. And it is just kind of like, well, you know, what are you going to do? This is like, it's really disgusting to me. It really says to me that like there is this privilege that to talk about it gets people uncomfortable. Hassan Piker is sitting there, I think, uncomfortable with this idea of a Jewish privilege within the United States because it might echo other white nationalists conspiracy ideas about Jews in general being the secret. overlords or whatnot. I think what he is missing there, or maybe he's not missing it,
Starting point is 01:05:41 he's just doing it for the sake of not wanting to get caught out in another fucking scandal and he's trying to be as safe as possible. What he's missing is that this type of analysis is just more of the same empty identity politics that both liberals and conservatives... With a Jewish supremacist. Yes. Tasting note to it. Right. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:06:09 And this is that both conservatives and liberals have been. At least Jewish exceptionalist. Yeah. Known to trot out whenever they need to push some, whatever their policy idea is. This isn't about like your, you know, the Jewish overlords are, you know, allowed to this and that and the other. This is about the fact that we. refuse to, at least when I say we, I mean like the libs, whatever, people who are left of MAGA,
Starting point is 01:06:40 refuse to acknowledge the fact that there is racism within the Jewish community and that a lot of the pro-Israel advocacy groups are openly racist and just do racism. And because they can't admit that, because they can't admit that they are supporters of a racist apartheid state, when someone says, I'm Jewish, and I think all Muslims should be banned from America or Canada or whatever, people go, well, it's really complicated. You know, there's thousands of years of conflict between these people. It's her standpoint. It's standpoint. It's standpoint. It's an understandable standpoint. It's fucking bullshit. If you've been through the Holocaust, you might also, you know.
Starting point is 01:07:24 They act like Laura Lumer's been through the Holocaust and was holocausted in Palestine. Like, none of that is, it's all a historic bullshit. but it's it's a she gets to do it because we uh and libs and anyone to the left of maga refuses to acknowledge the actual truth of what's going on and what's been going on since the founding of the state of israel yes so this reminds me of a question i wanted to ask you sabrina so you know we're talking about the different strata and uh and and and genres of racism within america and the different perceptions of racism and the different ways the different groups regard each other you spoke about
Starting point is 01:08:02 how your channel has appealed to and found some older black voters, right? People who get talked about a lot. And when it comes to the question of anti-Semitism, I remember at Jewish summer camp, one of our counselors played us, Welcome to the Terodome by public enemy as a thought, as a sort of like thought-provoking discussion topic of like, you know, crucifixion ain't no fiction,
Starting point is 01:08:27 so-called chosen frozen, apology made to whoever pleases. Still, they got me like Jesus. when public enemy had to apologize because Professor Griff said something allegedly anti-Semitic. I think it was anti-Semitic. But anyway, this question...
Starting point is 01:08:40 And then there were the Crown Heights riots back in that era. When it comes to black voters, we hear a lot of different things. We hear about the black Christian church being very Zionist. There's also this ambient assumption that there's like anti-Semitism
Starting point is 01:08:55 in the black community. We do see there's some consciousness raising happening here in Brooklyn. I've seen black people interviewed on the street in clips online talking about deed theft and there's a lot of Jewish landlords and that's who they're talking about and they're connecting it to Palestine. Can you help us, I mean, I'm not asking you to like give us a primer on all of it, but what's your sense of the the different points of view towards Israel and Palestine within the, you know, traditionally
Starting point is 01:09:27 democratic and traditionally church going and Zionists? black electric. Yeah, I think it's a generational gap. This is similar to, you know, those universal policies too. It's a generational gap where, you know, I grew up in the church and I went to church in North Carolina. So in the Bible Belt, that area down there. So a lot of people, a lot of people go to church. That's what you do like on Sunday and stuff like that. And I remember being told these things that Israel has to exist and this is the reason why because the Bible says blah, blah, blah. But I think that for me, I just started to look for more information and look elsewhere, right? And I've also gone to different churches where some churches did not say that. And they said
Starting point is 01:10:15 actually in the Bible, Israel's not a physical place. It's a spiritual place, right? So it depends on where you go. But what I have noticed is unfortunately again, when we're talking about that generational divide, a lot of the older black voters still buy into that whole, well, Israel is supposed to exist. And Israel is our ally and we have to have it because of the end time prophecy and all those types of things. A lot of the younger black voters are less likely to, number one, attend church and also to buy into that type of rhetoric. So that's where I see that divide really happening. And that's why, like, it's sad seeing those videos of, like, older black voters saying they wanted to support Haley Stevens. And when they were asked about Israel, they were just like, oh, I don't want to, this is the way it's always been.
Starting point is 01:11:11 Or they said things like, I think there's a genocide happening in Gaza, but this is the way it's always been for Israel. So that's what we're supposed to support. And, you know, it's unfortunate. I'm seeing people that came from the civil rights generation make these comments as well. There's been a lot of heavy, like, propaganda, I think, throughout not just the black church, but the church in general, especially in, like, the Bible Belt areas. And a lot of that goes back to the Christian Zionists. I have a friend who grew up in the Black Church of Detroit, a fellow musical theater writer,
Starting point is 01:11:44 who I think went on like a Black birthright trip to Jerusalem. And that there are a lot of these trips. that are organized in the black church to send black Christians over there to cement that brainwashing in the same way or in a parallel way that they do with Jewish teenagers. Yeah, but that's been breaking. Again, I think a lot of it is a generational divide. There was also numbers that showed that younger black people, not just voters, but younger black people are not attending church, you know, the way that we used to. People have kind of broken away from like those institutions. And a lot of younger people are more likely to look for resources elsewhere.
Starting point is 01:12:27 That is one thing I will tell you, having worked at the university. A lot of the younger people today are very resourceful. They don't feel as though they have to go to church to learn about religion. They have the internet and, you know, everything else at their fingertips. Right. So they grew up during a different time. And I think that that propaganda, it doesn't work as well on. them. They already knew about the history. A lot of them knew about the history of Israel and how it
Starting point is 01:12:53 came to be. And those were things that I didn't find out until I was an adult. And so they were already ahead of a lot of us. And so I think that's changed a lot of things. But yeah, a big part of it is just generational. I know we do have to let you go. You have other engagements. And we really do appreciate you coming on the podcast and talking with us. Would tell us where people can find you and where they can subscribe and plug your Patreon and stuff. Yeah, you can find me on YouTube. My channel is Sabby Sabs.
Starting point is 01:13:29 And my Patreon is at, you know, Sabrina Salvadi. But I'm usually like most of the time on YouTube. So that's where you can find me. And thank you guys so much. This has been a lot of fun. It was really great talking to you. Everyone, please subscribe. everyone please go into the show notes you'll find links to to Sabrina's social media to her

That's right, guys. We finally did it. We got an ad. And I'm very excited about this one because this is a great company. The people of Palestine have been making soap the same way for generations. And usually using just olive oil, baking soda, and water. In Nablus, home to one of the world's first known soap factories, they make this exact soap, the Al Jamal, the camel. And I was sent this one and as well as others from that.
Starting point is 01:14:51 Yeah, isn't this nice? This is, uh, this is from, uh, Halah, uh, Palestine. This is the Nabilis pure olive oil soap. And, uh, this is another one of theirs with the, uh, if you see there, it's got the keys on it. It's really, really cool. Um, and, uh, I was also sent this beautiful to Fia by today's sponsor, Hala Palestine. Hala. Yeah, and I believe I've been sent some of that as well,
Starting point is 01:15:19 but I will receive it when I get home in a few weeks because I'm out on the road right now, but I'm grateful and excited to sample these wears. So Hala Palestine is an online store where you can get all kinds of Palestinian crafts, clothing, and traditionally produced, olive oil soaps, all handmade in Palestine and delivered to your door. And that kaffia that they sent you, Matt,
Starting point is 01:15:38 it's woven in Palestine, not some factory overseas. And I can't wait to see you wearing it in... Yeah. I will wear it, but I wanted to wait until we recorded the ad to show it just because it just comes in this nice package. And because it's got a little printout of where it was made, how it was made. And it's nice to, I wanted to do the unboxing here on the ad. Well, then rip it open while I read the next few sentences. Yeah, you go ahead.
Starting point is 01:16:09 When I'm choosing anything like this, you know, products from the region, products, displaying Palestinian culture, it's especially important. I want to know that my purchase supports Palestinian artisans and their families, not just companies trying to make a buck off the Palestinian struggle or Palestinian identity or Palestinian iconography or whatever. And at Halif Palestine, you know, we know full well that our purchases are doing just that. They're supporting actual Palestinian artisans and their families. That's right. So you can feel good about shopping with that.
Starting point is 01:16:43 That's right. And in Arabic, Hala means well. Welcome. And that's the feeling I get from these, you know, great pieces that Hall of Palestine sent me. This is the beautiful Kaffaia. I love this so much. This material is just incredibly soft. And, you know, of course, I love the design, the trees. It's beautiful. And, you know, just the feel of it is nice. And speaking of welcome when we were in Jordan, the hospitality of our Palestinian hosts was so much. And they literally say, when you're meeting someone, they'll say, you are welcome. Yes, they do. They do. And like... You haven't thanked them for anything, but they're just letting you know, you are welcome.
Starting point is 01:17:20 That's right. That's right. Yeah. So you can get a 10% discount. A 10% discount on any of the great products at halapalestine.com with the offer code bad hasbarah. That's right. You can feel good about where your money is going when you shop at halapalistine.com. I think I almost said chala. It's halal. Halah. Ha. They taught us how to say that age when we were there. That's right. They try to unha. You know, they're like, get that guy. damn kh out of there. Stop putting ch'n.
Starting point is 01:17:46 They said, imagine opening a, like, a can of soda. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Halapalistan. There is.
Starting point is 01:17:54 And use the code bad Hasbara. That's H-A-L-A-Palistine.com. Offer code, Bad Hasbara for 10% off. Thank you so much to Hala Palestine for this beautiful Kaffia and for the soaps. Hey, everyone. We have another ad read for you.
Starting point is 01:18:14 Isn't that exciting? Look at us. We're just racking them up. So we were always looking to stay informed and broaden our knowledge on the subjects we talk about on the show. Because, you know, can't all be references to PG-13 action comedy classics of the 80s, you know. Speak for yourself, brother. Of course, we're both kidding. Yes, that's right. We are joking and we're a joking podcast. It's just a clever setup for us to tell you about today's sponsor. Middle East books and more. They're the largest retailer of books about the Middle East in the U.S.
Starting point is 01:18:51 You know, Matt, when it comes to books, genre-wise, I'd say I'm pretty picky. I only like nonfiction and fiction. Cookbooks are good, too, children's books, and books in Arabic and Persian. So with this, you might have to take the rest of this ad because I'm probably out of luck. Well, guess what, Daniel? I'm about to blow your mind, okay? Because those are all the kinds of books that they carry at Middle East books and more, in addition to olive oil, kaffia's, embroidery, and solidarity items from Palestine.
Starting point is 01:19:27 I mean, that sounds great. It's right up my alley. It's the bookstore I was born to frequent, baby. I can't wait to go and pay full price for all these fine products. Daniel, I simply cannot allow that, my friend. You see, if you use the code Hasbara, H-A-S-B-A-R-A-A-A-B-A-A-B-A-R-A at Middle Eastbooks.com, you'll get a 20% discount. A 20% discount at Middle Eastbooks.com when I use the code Hasbara. Let me be crystal clear in my question so that I get a true answer from you, chum.
Starting point is 01:20:03 Chum. Middle Eastbooks.com will give me a 20% discounts on books like this one, Malcolm in the desert. by Eliasah Shahaz, Malcolm X's daughter. Yeah, or this one, the complicit lens. I don't know if it's showing up on camera, but Robin Anderson wrote this one. Yes. And all just for using the code Hasbara.
Starting point is 01:20:28 That's all it takes? That's it. It's true, Daniel. True as the day is long. Visit them. So it's less true as December 21st approaches? Let's not focus on the day as long part. It's true is the point.
Starting point is 01:20:40 And you can visit them at the Adam. Morgan Neighborhood in D.C. Or go to Middle Eastbooks.com and use the code Hasbara. H-A-S-B-A-R-A for 20% off. Hooray for reading. Hooray for saving. Read, save.
Starting point is 01:20:58 Enjoy. And we're back. This is Bad Asbarra, the world's most moral podcast. That was Sabby Sabs. It was great having her on. That was a fun conversation. Next time she comes
Starting point is 01:21:14 on, hopefully we can get it for the full time, but it was really good to talk to her while we could. Again, go to the description, click the links. I always respect a guest who is like, I can do an hour. Me too. That's true. It means A, they have things to do. And B, they have better things to do. Yes.
Starting point is 01:21:36 Every guest to is just like, oh, yeah, for as long as we can go, I immediately lose a honor. You feel a little sad for them. I'm like, really? Really? nothing better. We don't even have 100,000 fucking says, RIT. No, I'm just kidding.
Starting point is 01:21:47 No, I love every guest who is like, I can do this as long as you want. I'm always just like, marry me. But that was really good. We had a really great conversation. We have a few more topics to cover before we get on out of here. Man,
Starting point is 01:22:05 I got to tell you, to start with something a little bit silly. the Allie G movie is coming out and I mean there's not I don't have much to say about it other than I'm really not looking forward to the discourse and the discourse is already happening. Oh it's here it's here buddy.
Starting point is 01:22:32 It's just it's just as soon as I saw the trailer I immediately got tired. I still haven't watched the trailer. We'll watch a little bit of it. I'm not sure how much of it YouTube will let us play because of the whole, you know, whatever. They would get demonetized or something, but I'll play a little bit. Yo, it's me, Ali G. I's been gone for 20 years, chilling.
Starting point is 01:22:57 And in that time, the world went to crap. There was COVID, wars, and Ed Sheeran. I's going to get back on top with a brand new thing called a doc. For the first time ever, this is a film with real people, not actors. It's fun. It's fun. It's fun. It's fun. Come in, come. Take any shit.
Starting point is 01:23:24 Allie G. Taking a shit. That's, so look, I'm not going to sit here and pretend like I don't find, or didn't find Ali G funny when it was on. I mean, truly. I found it screamingly funny at the time. Allie G. Borat, Bruno. these were all, for me, formative, comedic experiences. Bruno, too, huh?
Starting point is 01:23:45 I never saw Bruno. By the time Bruno came along, I was starting to sour on the guy. Well, I'm not, less talking about the movie, more talking about the TV show, Ali G. What was it called? The Ali G show, maybe it was called. And, yeah, so I'm not going to pretend like I didn't find all of that funny. what I am feeling now is a bit of preemptive discourse fatigue because of the fact that now I'm a little bit older, and also I view Sasha Baron Cohen differently.
Starting point is 01:24:23 Completely differently. And his comic timing is going to not nearly be as good. And it's a different culture. Yep. You know, like David Brent is one of the greatest comic characters ever invented. but if Ricky Jervais came back with David Brent's 2026 comeback
Starting point is 01:24:40 I would feel a sinking feeling not just because I know he's a prick but also because it's just inherently going to be awful and he's going to use the platform of his old character to advance his shitty middle-aged
Starting point is 01:25:01 reactionary bullshit yes and and more to the point, uh, the character itself of, whether it's David Brent or Ali G, was also advancing whatever, you know, middle age fucking bullshit,
Starting point is 01:25:18 uh, views, um, maybe not openly anti-trans views like he, he has now, but like his, uh, all of these characters existed in this sort of,
Starting point is 01:25:28 like, realm of, I don't know who this person is. I assume because they are making themselves, the punchline that they are actually good people. So their ironic racism is not actually racism. It's the same thing with comics who get found out for being scumbags. If they did scumbag jokes, but you were like, oh, but they're a good person, so it's okay.
Starting point is 01:25:54 Once they're outed as being an actual scumbag in real life, you're like, oh, then the person who told the okay rape joke is actually not okay. is a rapist, then maybe it doesn't work as well. In the same way, Ali G, doing this kind of character could be explained away as being like, oh, this is a comment on white people's cringe obsession with pretending to be black or whatnot. The canonical character description is he's a white guy
Starting point is 01:26:32 from South London or whatever who speaks like a Jamaican. Right, but he calls himself black. He says, is it Cazon Black? Like, he'll say that. But I think the joke being, everyone looks at him and knows that he's just some white dude pretending. It works less well.
Starting point is 01:26:51 And the same thing with sort of the Borat thing. All of it works less well when you remember that Sasha Baron Cohen since October 7, 2003 has used his, you know, prowess in Hollywood to do things like this. This is in November of 2023, Sasha Baron Cohen slams TikTok, quote, creating biggest anti-Semitic movement since the Nazis. Shame on you. A group of Jewish celebrities, including Deborah Messing and Amy Schumer, had a confrontational call with executives for the popular social media app. And, you know, since then, subsequently, after this big phone call, you might all remember the fact that, you know, the whole you must sell TikTok because of China
Starting point is 01:27:43 debate in Congress reopened after October 7th. But with a new boogeyman beyond China, it was, or China is helping kids do anti-Semitism by calls. calling out all of the genocide that they're seeing. And I'm not going to, and then they eventually sold it to the Ellisons, and I'm not going to pretend those things aren't related. You know, I don't have any direct evidence that Sasha Baron Cohen... What do you have against oligarchs? This is my thing about oligarch.
Starting point is 01:28:14 Ollagragy is always bad, but for the sake of this podcast, it's especially bad when you see that these oligarchs bought TikTok specifically to stop quote anti-Semitism at the urging of these powerful Jewish celebrities. Now, I do want to say just about Borat. Please. And I'll credit myself for this. I laugh my ass off.
Starting point is 01:28:39 I laughed till I cried and I felt icky about it. Not because, well, partly because I was like, Kazakhstan's a real place. Right. And I'm, and like, it was uncomfortable for me to be sitting here and laughing my head off. And then if someone was to say, what's so funny? I'd be like, Kazakhs marry their sisters and fuck goats. That's Kazakhstan for you.
Starting point is 01:29:05 Like, I knew nothing about, like, the fact that I knew not. My ignorance was the reason I could laugh about it and also was like part of the fun of it. And if I thought about that. It was the joke of it. It was the joke. And if I think about it, that's not that funny. Also, his made-up Kazakhstan was just Hebrew. It's just Hebrew, yes.
Starting point is 01:29:23 It's just the Hebrew that he learned at the same Zionist summer camp that I went to Habonim Dore. Now here's an article by David Miller. I don't know much about David Miller. He seems to me to be a bit of a crank. Yeah, he's a crank. But I would like to hear about what this is.
Starting point is 01:29:40 Yeah. I don't have a screenshot of the whole article, but the headline and subhead is the Habonim Droar School of Racist Comedy. I didn't realize that was the full name of the youth group I was a part of for 15 years. That's where you got your degree in racist comedy. In their attempts to groom and radicalize Jewish children and young people into the ideological partisans of the ideology of Zionism.
Starting point is 01:30:04 Okay, no lies told so far. The Zionist movement seems to have fostered an identifiable strand of racist comedy. Zionist youth groups such as Habonim Dore are key to this, according to the testimony of former members. And he goes on to list like five examples, all of whom are British. Now, I can't name too many North American English. examples, except for the one I've mentioned thousands of times, Seth Rogan, who was my summer camp kid. And we see what turned out to him. He was able to sluff it off and be like, I was told a lot of bullshit about Israel. Right. And not do racist comedy, which is always fun. I'm glad he didn't,
Starting point is 01:30:44 he didn't, you know, he definitely majored in comedy, but he didn't minor in racism, which is nice, you know? Exactly. Yeah. Now, I remember there was casual problematic stuff at camp, and especially when it came to Arab. Like the closer we got to Zionist topics, the more racist it got because Zionism is racism. And, you know, there was appropriation of black culture in ways that, you know, British-Columbian white kids could not, had no nuance for it because we didn't really know any black kids. Right, exactly. But I'll tell you this.
Starting point is 01:31:22 when we got older and we got to meet our global Kutsa, meaning group or collective, meaning our age group from other countries, the Brits and the Australians and the South Africans, and they called it not Habonim, but Habonim, they were the most hardcore Zionists, way more than we were. They did not question it. They were fervent. They were gung-ho. And so the group that, it makes sense to me that the youth group that Sasha Bering-Cohen
Starting point is 01:31:52 grew up in would have produced a certain kind of proud, snarky, casual racism on steroids more than I was ever exposed to. So that's why I found that David Miller article interesting, at least the headline. Yeah, it's interesting because the, whether or not it stems from Habonim, I think, is almost besides the point. It's, uh, it's the racism itself, uh, and ironic racist comedy, especially of this era was, you know, is fairly rampant. And it's, um, not for me to say, uh, which comedian is allowed and isn't allowed. Everyone individually just kind of made their, you know, choice of like, oh, this guy, you know, he says some kind of rough stuff, just like we do. We'll say some, you know, uh, some edgy, um, um, edgy.
Starting point is 01:32:52 stuff sometimes. You and I, you and I break into patois all the time. All the time. We are very, we like to do the bomb a clot, Ross clot, pussy clot. But, you know, it is, it's not for me to say what's off limits and whatnot. That being said, what I find kind of interesting about this type of, you know, looking back. Sound off in the comments about why we're not problematic at all. Yeah, exactly. Everyone else who does it. We're actually okay because you know we're good people and nothing will ever come out saying any different. But no, this is the thing that I've, you know, sort of especially with the, you know, recent article that came out about our former guests that we talked about.
Starting point is 01:33:40 If you want to know what one of us thinks more in depth, I get a full two-part video about Reggie Watts on Instagram. And it's very good. And everyone should, I think, watch that for, yeah. It's really great. I really loved what you had to say about it. But in general, it's like with comedians, you end up giving people sort of, if you like comedy, if you like the timing and whatnot, you kind of give people the benefit of the doubt to stretch and do things that are like, ooh, kind of edgy, especially if you can kind of give it an angle
Starting point is 01:34:12 that lets them off the hook. The Allie G angle always came from, including Borat, came from a place. of, oh, I'm making fun of these people in my documentary for allowing themselves to show this like deep, dark underbelly because they feel free to, because they're in front of some Kazakh guy. I've created a clown. I've created a sort of Nasruden character or some kind of bumbling, lovable anti-hero
Starting point is 01:34:43 who's going to become a mirror or he'll just be this blank slate for people to project stuff onto and be unintentionally canned. and honest, and then we'll see about what America really is or what Europe really is. Yeah. And the problem with something like this is always the assumption you make because of who the target is. In Borat's case, it was like the targets were, or at least largely, people who were holding anti-Semitic views. And so all of a sudden they felt free to say something anti-Semitic.
Starting point is 01:35:18 Or to sing something anti-Semitic. Right. Or to sing something or sing along to something, you know, throwing Jews down the well. I mean, fucking. Great song. The problem with Sasha Baron Cohen is he has since very much come out as being pro-racist apartheid ethno state doing a genocide, which is a problem if your whole ideal of him is, no, but he would be against that because that's what he's making fun of. So this whole Borat discussion is, or Ali G, new movie that's coming out, hits a little different when you know that that is kind of where he stands. And there was a deadline article about it that it would just read a little bit of.
Starting point is 01:36:01 Ali G, Who Is I? Sparks, Calls for Theater, Boycott, Trailer slammed over racist stereotypes. So I'm going to just read a little bit of this. Sasha Baron Cohen's attempt to brush off an old character with Ali G., Who Is Eye, is not going. over without controversy. Following the release of the trailer for the Amazon MGM studio sequel, an email campaign began on Watchdog News site
Starting point is 01:36:25 newscord, sending more than 40,000 emails urging theaters to leave the film off its screen when the movie premieres October 23 in cinemas. Black British comedians called the character
Starting point is 01:36:42 an alibi for racism in 2000. Jeanette Winterson asks what separates it from the black and white minstrels. Kazakh and Arab organizations documented the harm of the catalog behind it. Sony Pictures UK is selling it with the line, he is back, We Ain't Liable, reads the campaign. The screen belongs to the chains and a booking is a choice.
Starting point is 01:37:06 Don't know what the fuck that means. That means that if theaters choose to book our racist movie, that's on them. Yeah, I guess it's weird to do the, he is back, IZ, we ain't liable, and then the screens belong to the chains and booking is, it's like weird to like make your, you know, thing a bit, your statement a bit, but whatever, fine. Allie G is a cover to laugh at Jamaican culture. The character enforces harmful stereotypes about, of how a Jamaican man behaves in society. And then there's, you know, a few tweets.
Starting point is 01:37:44 here about it. But I want to get to one really important point that was made, which is by our dear, dear friend, Jesse Brown, who wanted to say this. Sasha Baron Cohen remains brilliant. He has always made a mockery of racial boundaries and bigotries. They are not coming for him because his work suddenly became racist. they are coming for him because he's a Jew.
Starting point is 01:38:17 Well, I'll say this. I completely agree with Jesse in this case. Sasha Barron Cohen's work did not suddenly become racist. Yeah, that's right. Yeah. It did not all of a sudden just turn around and become racist. Turns out, not unlike Haley Joel Osman at the end of Sixth Sense. And not unlike Jesse Brown, who didn't suddenly become a pedantic tribalist.
Starting point is 01:38:43 asshole, it turns out that's who he always was. It's just so funny that like the backlash that he's talking. It's like, it's actually anti-Semitic to be mad at a Jew for doing ironic blackface. You would- Is it because I is Jewish? Is it because I is Jewish and because I support ethnic cleansing of Palestine? Yeah. No voices.
Starting point is 01:39:04 No voices. Yeah. I mean, it is an absolutely insane take. And we're only going to see more of this where, All of a sudden, we're going to see the boycotts against this movie and calls that it is racist be attributed to the fact that Sasha Baron Cohen is merely just a Jewish person who believes in a safe haven for the Jews in Israel. What do you think the over-under is that he made it through the writing and making of this movie without slipping in some kind of. kind of either a scene or a throwaway gag about Ali G being pro-Palestinian or something like that or interviewing some pro-Palestine, you know, zoomers or whatever, like to show them to be
Starting point is 01:39:58 pretentious twats. It will be, this is my guess, it'll be both. He will do that. And then he will also interview some pro-Israel people and making fun of them. And then he'll say, See, I did it for both. You know, I'm like the good liberal Zionist that he is. You see there's pussy clots on both sides. Yeah, exactly. The pussy clots on both sides.
Starting point is 01:40:26 But yeah, it is, I think that is a near guarantee. I guarantee that shit. And again, we were talking about this before the break, the Jewish plusness of it all. where he is going to be able to get media cover for this idea that actually he can do this. He's allowed to do this because he is not just Jewish, but he is also Israeli. I guarantee you, not only will this be used as an excuse to do it by him or maybe people surrounding the PR for the film, but also CBS. I mean, fucking Jesse Brown's already doing it.
Starting point is 01:41:12 It will be what people say regarding this movie. Like, is this because he is Jewish? Is that why they're not letting him say, Buyakasha? Is that why? Isn't it a little bit, you know? There's going to be a headline that says juya kasha. Yes, 100%.
Starting point is 01:41:34 100%. And it's really, again, And it's just like this disgusting thing that is allowed to, you know, people allow Jewishness to be the human shield for accountability. And at the same time, I will say one thing that bums me out a little bit is like the movie is only going to benefit from calls for like a boycott based on. you know, oh, he's racist and whatnot. It's counting on that. It knows exactly how people are going to react to this character in 2026. They're going to, you know, and it's not to say, hey, everyone, so just, you know, be quiet
Starting point is 01:42:24 and shut up and let things happen. But it's a bummer just knowing that that is part of the ad campaign. The ad campaign is like, oh, he's still got it. He's still out here doing sharp, edgy political commentary. And aren't you the butt of the joke if you say, hey, isn't he just doing blackface of a Jamaican guy? Aren't you the idiot for caring? And I just, it pisses me off. It's, you know, I would love for this movie, if it were possible for people to just let this movie fail, you know, and just let it on its own merits, peter out.
Starting point is 01:43:03 That would be sick. But, you know, people, I think people. are going to be mad about it. Well, let me help that effort of just denying it oxygen by saying that if you're really feeling the need for seeing a British person, a British actor, sink his teeth into black culture and do it in an authentic and collaborative way, get your ears on the new Zarface meets Frankie Pulitzer album. Zarfaces, Inspector Deck from Wu-Tang Clan, 7-L and esoteric.
Starting point is 01:43:38 They've been putting out albums for the past 15 years. Who is Frankie Pulitzer? Tom Hardy. The actor Tom Hardy wraps as Frankie Pulitzer. And I'm telling you, he's got bars for days. What? He's incredible. Bain got bars?
Starting point is 01:43:56 Lach got bars. Bain got bars on Locke. That's my favorite, Tom Hardy. Bronson got bars? Bronson got mad bars, okay? Method Man's on the album. Rhymes is on the album, LP is on the album. And the beats knock like crazy.
Starting point is 01:44:13 And he absolutely holds his own in every case. He's fucking awesome. At one point, he might even do a Richard the third monologue in a British accent. I think it's him. And then he switches back into his rapper cadence where he sounds like he's from New York. Oh my God.
Starting point is 01:44:28 And it's not pastiche. It's like he's genuinely been practicing sand behind the scenes, I guess. Yeah. He's got mad skills. He is, and also his politics are good. So he's, uh, so I, you know, so I know he's a good person. He's allowed to do it. Yeah. But man, that is, but me real hip hoppers have always welcomed white people.
Starting point is 01:44:49 Well, yeah, yes, white people rap. Yes, I know. You know. I know. From the Beastie Boys to Eminem. I mean, that's right. Third base to Frankie Pulitzer. Well, that, I love that. Thank you for, for, for plugging that if you, if you want to. I'll have, I'll have it on the spin soon when the LP arrives. Hell yeah. I just ordered it. That sounds good. But yeah. Allie G. Hey, you know what? I don't care. I'm going to continue not caring.
Starting point is 01:45:13 And you can see how much I don't care. By the way, I've talked about it for the last 20 minutes. And go back and watch Ross Trent, because that really holds up. It really does. Yes. Shout out to Andy Sandberg. That's Andy Sandberg using Jewish privilege for good. For good.
Starting point is 01:45:29 Yeah, that's someone actually, in my opinion, making fun of white people in that. You know what I mean? 100%. Yes, I. Bada ding ding ding ding, ding, whoa. You know on Test Me Champion Sound. So before we get out of here, speaking of the way that being Jewish
Starting point is 01:45:55 and doing leftism can sometimes lead to weird confluences of... And speaking of Jewish left-wing Zionist summer camps, actually. Yes, we need to talk about the Israeli left. First, I want to play this video. Did you guys know that there is not just an Israeli left, but a Zionist Israeli left? That's right. They call themselves that. And I want to play a little video from an Austrian leftist and an Israeli Zionist leftist. I was just going to say, I wonder what sort of countries leftists would befriend Israeli Zionist leftists? And you just answer my question. Oh, of course, it's Austria. It's Austria. Yes. This is,
Starting point is 01:46:38 The Zionist Israeli leftists have a very small group of countries in which they can go around be embraced. Austria is one of them for obvious reasons. Here is this. Israeli leftists. And this is three things Europeans need to hear from an Israeli leftist. One. We're fighting. I'm sorry.
Starting point is 01:46:58 But why is an Austrian leftist there? This is three things that Europeans need to hear from an Israeli leftist. Starring me. Number one, ignore how similar our accents sound and our outs, how exactly the same our skin tone is. That's right. One. We're fighting the far right every day. We fiercely oppose our far right government and we're committed to fighting cellular violence and restarting talks with Palestinian leaders.
Starting point is 01:47:27 To some, peace may seem farther away than ever. To restart peace with Palestinian leaders, we have Israeli Zionist leftists stationed at every Semitic. every cemetery in the West Bank screaming at their graves. We want to talk to you. We are available. Please let us know when you are ready to negotiate. That's right. Sorry that our far right government, which we fiercely oppose every day,
Starting point is 01:47:53 assassinated you while you were at the bargaining table. Just pointing at a grave going, they really never do miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity. We should not be naive about how hard it will be to achieve. We cannot accept a reality of endless cycles of violence. Two, we're leftists and we're Zionists. Cool. Zionism is the belief that Jews have the right to self-determination in a state that protects them against anti-Semitism.
Starting point is 01:48:21 While some may use Zionism to justify hate and racism, leftist Zionist movements, embrace humanism and coexistence. Yeah. Okay, but at the same time, what is a Jewish state then? Yeah. Like, this is what I want. And where is a Jewish state? Yes.
Starting point is 01:48:35 Where is a Jewish state? and what makes it count as a Jewish state and does the protection against anti-Semitism, does that supplant any other right? Like, is that the number one right? And if so, what other
Starting point is 01:48:52 rights are allowed to be trampled on for the sake of protecting it? Yeah, and how loudly and precisely and clearly am I allowed to oppose everything you just said without you lumping me in with the anti-Semitism? Semites that you exist to protect yourself from.
Starting point is 01:49:08 Right. And thus granting yourself the right to self-defense against me pointing out that you're talking about an ethno-nationalist apartheid state by definition. You're talking about coexistence. The co-in that picture, are they allowed to be the majority of population? Or is that not, does that then get rid of the first thing with the protection against anti-Semitism?
Starting point is 01:49:35 These are questions that will never get answered. Is it like the co-in co-working or the co-opting? Uh, what's that? I said, is it like the co-in-working or the co-opting? That's right. Yes, yes. You're going to have to explain the co. Advocate for peace and justice. Lasting peace can only be achieved through mutual recognition and a two-state solution, where both Palestinians and Israelis have their own sovereign state.
Starting point is 01:50:02 Three. Being an Israeli leftist. Oh, you hold on. I'm sorry. The camera work is just doing too much. The camera work is too much, but also, I mean, when I hear the Israeli leftist talking about coexistence and humanism and then also talking about the two-state solution, I'm just like, all right, so what even is this then? like you're like you're okay with coexistence
Starting point is 01:50:33 as long as the code doesn't get too out of just like we're just well this is no different you're just wearing a sleeveless tea you know when I hear them talking about mutual recognition for some reason I my my mind pans to Kevin Klein holding John Cleese out the window in a fish called Wanda but instead of saying apologize
Starting point is 01:50:54 he's saying recognize yeah exactly We're going to mutually recognize each other now. I recognize you to the fullest extent, and I apologize for any not recognition before. Consider ourselves as a part of the global left, and we face many of the same struggles. The rise of right-wing extremism, queer phobia, racism, and an affordability crisis. But we do not feel like our voice is being heard. We're aiming for the same goal, an end to Nathan Yahoo's far-right government.
Starting point is 01:51:27 With elections coming, we need your service. support more than ever. To elect who in his place? I don't know. Who are you looking forward to replacing him with? That's what I want to know. Gadi Eisencott? Get your Lepid?
Starting point is 01:51:43 Maybe Moishe Faglin. But like you're sitting there going like I feel like with what's going on right now with queer phobia and an affordability crisis, the Israeli left's voice
Starting point is 01:51:58 isn't being heard. It's like, yeah, because the global left kind of has one thing on its mind when it comes to the Israeli left, which is prioritized the genocide. But don't worry, he considers himself in solidarity with the global left. They just haven't mutually recognized. That's right. They're not in solidarity. Israeli Zionism. And until we achieve mutual recognition, then we need to have a Jewish state to fight that anti-Semitism. Yes. Why I left the left and entered the West Bank. Speaking of which. Speaking of which, this is a real article from Ha'arets.
Starting point is 01:52:36 Oh, like, this is insane. I couldn't believe this when I saw it. And then I said to myself, of course I could. Israeli left-wing youth group plans Kibbutz-style settlement in the West Bank. Hamachanot Ha-Oliam, which literally translates as the, well, ha machinot is the plural of machane, which means camp. Ha Olim, Olim is the noun verb of aliyah. So those who go up, the aliyah makers.
Starting point is 01:53:05 So it's the camps of the aliyah makers. A century old, quote, pioneering, oh boy. Socialist Zionist youth group says it is exploring the possibility of building a new kibbutz in the Jordan Valley, arguing that leftists should populate the area rather than far right outposts inhabited by violent settlers. Asked for a comment. They later said, hey, if we don't settle it, more of an asshole will.
Starting point is 01:53:33 Yes, exactly. Someone more dangerous will. If I don't join the Nazi party, think of all the Nazis that will be around. If I don't rob this bank, you might get a guy who's a little more trigger-happy. That's right. I'm trying to change this from the inside
Starting point is 01:53:49 of someone else's house. We can do more good. Mr. Abu Bakr from inside your house than from Tel Aviv. So will you kindly, mutually recognize us and get out? A left-wing youth movement
Starting point is 01:54:09 has been seeking in recent months to establish a new settlement in the West Bank's Jordan Valley aiming to populate the area with a left-wing presence instead of far-right settlers who are often involved in violence against Palestinians.
Starting point is 01:54:22 Involved in what way? What's their involvement? Oh, doing it. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. The sentence should say, aiming to populate the area with a left-wing presence
Starting point is 01:54:35 instead of a Palestinian presence. That's right, yeah. I mean, this is, the more I think about it, this is the logical endpoint of the summer camps I went to. Oh, yes. It makes, this is this,
Starting point is 01:54:44 this is the subtext and the supertext and the text. This is the end-pilliberal Zionism. And subatomic. Yeah, yeah, yes. Way of the world today. That's right.
Starting point is 01:54:56 Beal. And you must allia. Exactly. I'm making myself clear to you. Yeah. I've seen God. The Hamachanot Haolim movement says it has been exploring the idea with Aravot Ha Yardin. Jesus Christ.
Starting point is 01:55:16 Regional Council, that's the Jordan something regional council in recent months. And the possibility of implementing it looks positive. No exact spot for the planned settlement has yet been chosen, but the organization is looking around the area, around Kibbutz, Beit Haarava, north of the Dead Sea. All right, all right, beautiful. Good old utopian communities, huh? That's right.
Starting point is 01:55:40 Organization director Ilan Gazit confirmed the group is... I'm being Gazileat right now. The group is leading towards establishing a Kibbutz-style settlement in the Jordan Valley, which would focus mostly on agricultural activities. That's good. That's good. Gazit says he is aware of the damage West Bank settlements due to Palestinian rights. But!
Starting point is 01:56:06 Got a big butt in there. But argued that since new settlements will be built in the Jordan Valley, in any case, it's preferable to have as many of them as possible populated by leftists. Leftists. I like big butts and I cannot lie. I like kibbutz and I can not lie. Is that what you meant? No, just big butts.
Starting point is 01:56:31 Oh, big butts. That's a big butt, you know? Yeah, right, right. It is a big butt. Very good. I very much hope that they will be more kibbutzim and moshevim here and fewer farms, he said, referring to the farming outposts established by far-right settlers that have often been sources of violence against nearby Palestinian communities.
Starting point is 01:56:51 Okay. anyone who knows the history of the kibbutz movement knows that nearly every kibbutz in Israel was founded on a decimated, ruined Palestinian village. The one I stayed in for 10 months, 20 kilometers from Gaza. There's a Palestinian village that was there before that I don't even know the name of. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:57:10 Okay, and they were established as fortresses, Zionist outposts. That's what they were pioneering. Yes. You're going to reclaim that for leftism, It's funny, too, to reclaim it for this a historic vision of what we were, you know, taught kibbutzniks were like and what kibbutz is were. It's like, we've already done the revisionism on what a kibbutz is. You know, I grew up thinking, oh, there were these like, you know, socialist enclaves where everyone would do Marxism, but agriculture.
Starting point is 01:57:50 like agricultural Marxism. It's this new place, this new kind of thing where Jews all get together and when one of them finds a penny on the ground, they divide it, they slice it up into equal pieces and end out. God.
Starting point is 01:58:05 So, that's really funny. Don't clip that one, Brandt. I don't want that one on Instagram. I don't want that one out of context. Oh, God. Since October 7th, 2023, he continued.
Starting point is 01:58:20 more than 30 farms have been established in the Jordan Valley, and that threatens the Palestinians' daily lives, the ability to view the Jordan Valley as an agricultural security zone and the possibility of someday achieving peace. What the fuck is an agricultural security zone? I mean, I suppose it's, you know, having farmland surrounding you, that's only owned by settlers.
Starting point is 01:58:53 I truly don't know. He's talking about it like it's a good thing. The ability to view, the Jordan value. It's like a closed military zone or a closed archaeological zone. It's another pretext. Right. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:59:06 Yeah. Yeah. It's like, okay, if you just look at this as just farmland that you are not allowed to go on. That is Israeli property, you know. We're going to protect you about. Palestinians with a nice big buffer zone around you. Yeah. Now, just for your security, don't step over the line into it.
Starting point is 01:59:26 Right. Because we will shoot you for your own good. Yes. What if our moat was populated with olive trees? Okay. Or salamanders. Yeah. Fuck, it's, oh, God.
Starting point is 01:59:38 Yeah. The Israeli left needs to be in the Jordan Valley. Otherwise, other people will be there, he added. And the story of the farm. What if there are Palestinians there? No, he said people. Oh, right, right, right. And the story of the farms is the clearest example of this.
Starting point is 01:59:53 Yeah, yeah. We aren't ashamed of this and we aren't hiding it. He said, you don't. I know. I can tell the way you're talking about it. You know what I mean? This is in line with our worldview. A strong security border is needed in the east that will be defensible and create a necessary
Starting point is 02:00:15 condition for peace. You know, wow, I wonder if there's any other historical examples of anyone who wanted a strong security border in the east that would create a necessary condition for peace. God. It's just so crazy because it's again, it's like we're, I'm sorry, we're talking about doing the same thing over and over and over again. But this time you're just like, nah, but this time will be different. the definition of insanity, you know, first and foremost, but also just like, who is this for? Who are you trying to convince that? Matt, you're taking it too seriously, the historical presidents.
Starting point is 02:00:54 You know, Volk one was crazy. That's right. Volk one was crazy. Heron Volk one was crazy. That's right. Oh, my God. We are leftists who believe in equality between people and are guided by a humanistic, socialistic, democratic worldview. He added.
Starting point is 02:01:12 Okay. I can tell, by the way, you want to do more land grab. Speaking of olive trees, I made a pretty good joke at the Montreal event the other night. Hell yeah. Good. A Lebanese woman got up and asked us a question. She said, I'm at McGill. And, you know, I've made a lot of Jewish anti-Zionist friends, but there's also a lot of Israelis on campus. And, you know, and they want to break bread with me. Like, they want to, like, talk about, like, bond over shared food experiences. And, like, you know, they keep reaching. you know, they keep trying to reach out an olive branch to me. What should I do? I said, well, first of all, you should ask them where they got the olive branch from.
Starting point is 02:01:47 Nice. Nice. Very good. Yeah, I was happy. That was very good. Hamaha Not Ha Olim turns 100 this year. It's crazy. I've never heard of them, but I'm sure they're completely affiliated with the group I grew up with.
Starting point is 02:01:58 Yeah. I mean, they sound identical. It defines itself as a pioneering socialist Zionist youth group, exactly. And it conducts activities for teens in dozens of places around the country. It also organizes programs. Can you imagine like a Zionist youth group in the state of Israel? What would that be like having a youth group in America? Like Zionism established the thing, like like a daughters of the revolution.
Starting point is 02:02:28 Like what are you doing having youth groups a hundred years later that are organized around the ideology that was supposed to accomplish founding the state after the state is founded? after the state is founded. What does that mean? I think at this point, it's just like, it's just rewriting, it's part of the rewriting of it. And also, you know, Zionism is never done. There is no borders.
Starting point is 02:02:56 So Zionist youth groups have to continue achieving Zionism, which is to grab and grab more land. That's why. That's all it is. That's exactly it. It also organizes programs in which teens spend a year
Starting point is 02:03:10 in some form of community service between high school and the army, as well as organizing groups of graduates to form new communities. Great. Over the years, its graduates have established 41 kibbutzim, including Beit Ha'itah, which I visited, Veit Hashidah, Maoz Chaim and Stott Yam. One of those kibbutzim, Na'Aran, is located in the West Bank, north of Jericho, founded in 1977 by a different left-wing youth group. I wonder if I know it.
Starting point is 02:03:39 It suffered many crises over the years that led many of its members to leave, but it was repopulated in 1999, in part by graduates of Mahama Hanurah Olim and now has some 200 residents, including Gazit. Ah, he's already there. Oh, all right. He's a pioneering pioneer. I get. Okay, this makes more sense now that you know that he's just rebranding. Yeah. You know?
Starting point is 02:04:02 Yeah. Settling the Jordan Valley wasn't ideologically foreign to pioneering left-wing youth groups after the Six-Day War. Oh, we know. more settlements more settlers moved to the West Bank under the Labor government than they did under the Lecoode government
Starting point is 02:04:18 Yeah This was in part due to the Alon plan drafted by former Labor Party Minister Yagal alone Which called for Israel to retain the West Bank's mountain ridge The Jordan Valley
Starting point is 02:04:30 And the area around Jerusalem under any future peace agreement Which called for the Israel To retain the West Bank's West Bank Range Right. The part of the West Bank known as the West Bank, known as West Bank. Yes.
Starting point is 02:04:47 To this day, several Kibbutz seem in the Jordan Valley belong to the United Kibbutz movement, which is affiliated with the left. The Jordan Valley's Palestinian population is comparatively sparse since when. But because the area has little arable land, there's a... Well, the land's not arable anyway.
Starting point is 02:05:07 So they can't be any Arabs. It's not even arable. It's doable. This is unbearable, all right? It's, the land ain't even arable, dude. Oh, man. You can't get an Arab in there. Sorry, sorry, Palestinians.
Starting point is 02:05:25 English wordplay is against you. Yes. It's not arable. The settlements there nevertheless pose a threat to the Palestinians' daily lives. According to Dror Etkeshs of the left-wing Keremnavot organization, the part of the part of the Jordan Valley that was transferred to the Palestinian Authority under the Oslo Accords, some 71,000 dunams now contains 60,000 to 70,000 Palestinian residents, whereas the Israeli settlements, with around 12,000 settlers, control nearly 1.5 million dunums.
Starting point is 02:05:58 That is the end of the article. And, man, I got to tell you, it's just good that, left the left means nothing now it's just a thing you can apply to yourself to be like no no no no no I'm good and then you can just you just do whatever you want you don't have to believe in nothing you don't have to you can say like I believe in humanism I believe in democracy those words also mean nothing because that's just how it is now we just call people you can self-apply any label you want you're actions are completely divorced from the label in which you self-apply. Yeah, well, it's like Jesse Brown's question to me.
Starting point is 02:06:46 Matt, do I get a say and whether or not I'm an illegal settler? Yeah. Apparently, no, you don't. You were born this way. And we have to respect that. I didn't suddenly become an illegal settler. Right. Well, I mean, you just hate me because I'm Jewish.
Starting point is 02:07:04 That's right. Exactly. It just, oh, it is, I mean, I think that Ha Arette's article was great. They also very much realize how ridiculous it sounds. That was, at least that's how I read it. It felt to me like they're like, can you believe this shit? And the answer is yes, I can believe this shit, Ha'a Retz.
Starting point is 02:07:26 This is, at this point, just completely normalized type of behavior where you can just wokely do the bad thing. but just say, nah, it's woke, it's fine. I'm not sure the Ha'Aris is even criticizing it. They're doing their Ha'Aritz thing. At their best, Ha'Aritz breaks great stories, does good reporting, and publishes Gideon Levy and Amirahas. But what they often do is it's kind of in the middle thing, this thing is happening.
Starting point is 02:07:55 Let's see how it turns out. It's a little contradictory, but then again, we are Israel. Yes. And exactly. So there's a kind of, what are you going to do? the fact that there's a story there at all, which is this is essentially them reprinting a, you know, a PR fucking pitch. Because they could have asked a Palestinian. They could have interviewed a Palestinian. Of course. Well, that's how they feel about these brave pioneers coming to protect them from the much worse pioneers.
Starting point is 02:08:26 Yes, yes. Well, then, no. Listen, they still got to have readership, dude.
