Starting point is 00:00:00 The badlands, one of the badlands, explain those badlands. That's a hell of their name. Good afternoon, everybody, and welcome to Alpha's Make Sandwiches. Hi, y'all. It is almost September. I know. Tomorrow is September. My Halloween decorations are staged.

Starting point is 00:00:40 But it's fine. It's Florida. South Florida. So yeah. Yeah. No, it's, we're headed in, we're headed into fall proper.
Starting point is 00:00:52 And it's still pretty hot here. But at night, it's getting chillier again. Like, you know, pulling out the be beanie now. At night, it's going to be a beanie time soon.

It's, be a, beanie season is glorious. And it means I don't have to wash my hair as much, which isn't really a thing because I wash my hair like twice a week anyway. Yeah. But I can stretch it.
Starting point is 00:01:21 You know, you can always, you've got beanie, stretch it. Yeah. Which is nice. Beanie and dry shampoo. Yeah, I actually canceled plans last week because I had to walk my hair. Which made me feel old-fashioned. Sorry. All right.

Starting point is 00:03:26 Brian has that. Brian has outdated information. And silver is at $66.91. Nice. I have all of my silver, like the various different silver parts of my collection in a AI model. So I can just plug in the current price and like see the updated value of all of my different coins and everything. It's nice. It's fun.
Starting point is 00:03:55 Makes me happy. You feel like Scrooge McDuck. I do. I don't have enough to dive into. That would be cool, though. Yeah, right. But if we were to transfer it to Fiat, I'm probably close to like a kitty pool.

Starting point is 00:05:27 that matches. Gulf of America. That I have to wash like once a week because he wears it all the time. And the white, the long sleeve one. The long sleeve white one. Yeah, I still am not sure I've ever seen Cam in any article of clothing that wasn't scales.
Starting point is 00:05:46 So he he pulls it out. Like, right now he's not wearing that. He's wearing like a plain yellow shirt. But he does it for the shows because he's like, they're the sponsors. I got to support the sponsors. And I'm like, smart. He does.
Starting point is 00:06:02 Yeah. And he does. All right. And then let's talk quickly. Before we get into the main content, let's talk about Las Vegas. Patriots, the fight for truth doesn't stop at the screen. It's hitting the road again. Badlands Media is coming to Las Vegas, September 17th through.
Starting point is 00:06:23 for the next stop on the Great American Restoration Tour. Real debates and tough questions. No topic is too hot. No question too bold. Tickets are on sale now at badlandsmedia.tv slash garden.
Starting point is 00:06:50 Can't make it to Vegas? grab a virtual pass and watch from home question the narratives fight for america's future Vegas is calling the restoration continues get your passes today we'll see you in Vegas Patriots Badlands media is heading back to Las Vegas Nevada just how you pronounce state and um we're on September 17th through the 19th you should come hang out with us we're going to have an absolute blast. That ghost dancing video in that ad is ghost in Vegas last year.
Starting point is 00:07:33 And it's real. It's not AI. It's real. It really happened. It was, yeah. That was the night that the calendar was born. The ghost based Patrick Henry calendar. That was the night that he fell asleep on Max Love and Glory's shoulder. And Christy took the photo that sparked a just plethora of incredible memes
Starting point is 00:07:55 that became the calendar and Ghost is currently not coming to Las Vegas. However, I have been hounding him. Are you sure you make an appearance? Now he lives in Virginia, so it's far, right? But I don't know, he wants to come.
Starting point is 00:08:17 I know he wants to come. Who wouldn't want to come? Exactly. Well, that night we went from like there remember we went into like the parking garage and then we got like chased by security up to the top of the parking garage and then we came down and then we were outside and they were yelling at us because we were talking too loud there's no where to be yeah and then we're like in this one little lobby area because the wind was absolutely cold and like and I just turned over my shoulder and he's just taking a little snooze he's just snooos yeah and we can all remember it because it was delightful.
Starting point is 00:08:52 And, yeah, again, became a calendar. But you never know what's going to happen. And we are apparently, and we, the hosts have been given no information about this, changing up the way that we do panels and stuff. So it's going to be a unique experience, a new experience with the Badlands crew in Las Vegas. And I am just so excited. Love Vegas. Love Badlands.
Starting point is 00:09:15 Love you people. I just love you to the most. I can't wait to squeeze you. I know. I'm very excited. My TikTok algorithm hears me. It is feeding me Vegas content and I'm like, I don't have time for any of this.
Starting point is 00:09:29 Thank you for nothing. Buggies in the desert. You're like, I can't. I don't have time. I can't. Yes, but the beauty of this is that now there's no Sunday panels. So it won't happen again. And you're welcome.
Starting point is 00:09:45 How rude. It was. That was terrible. That was rough. But you know what? We're all making sacrifices. All right. So badlandsmedia.tv slash events. Come hang out with us.
Starting point is 00:09:57 If you can't be there in person, grab a virtual ticket, you'll still be part of the experience. There's a whole bunch of stuff that happens in the Gart chats. The Gart Chats, by the way, still going, right? The Deadwood chat is still going strong every single day. Love the furry Fridays, which is where people post their pets and their working animals also.
Starting point is 00:10:17 get to see a lot of fun animals and it's a blast and you won't regret it. It's going to be an absolutely awesome time. All right. I think first we are going to start with history. In this week in U.S. history, Dolly Parton passed away. And she says I have this video compilation that somebody put together on the internet. And it's five minutes. So it's a little bit longer. I'm going to play it, but we can pause it as we go because we're playing it from the bottom. She says some really interesting things. And then at the end of this, we can talk about, you know, whatever we want to about this. But it's kind of hard because I love Dolly Parton. You know, I grew up in the South icon, American sweetheart, American icon. And then I saw the vaccine pushing video, you know. She donated what a million dollars to help with the Moderna vaccine, I think it was? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:15 And she like actually went out and called everybody that wasn't getting vaccinated. cowards. So eat a day. Did she make like a music video like of Joleen? But like, yeah. So that part's hard and everything. But I think a lot of people got hoodwinked by, um, you know, COVID. And certainly at that level, the amount of incentives and pressures to participate in that, I think, you know, I'm not a scientist. And I trust, I don't, but like I'm thinking is to walk in dolly shoes, right? And it's rationalizing. I know. Then other people started talking about like more loose-farian type stuff. And it's just really, it's really disturbing because, you know, Dilliparton is Daly Parton. But here we go. Yes, I am married. Were you married young? I was married when I was 20 years old. I've been married for 10 years.
Starting point is 00:12:14 Does he listen to your records? He's not my biggest fan. But he's a wonderful person. It's not any, it's not any. out of disrespect. It's just a thing with us. We have an understanding. As long as you get along, that's fine. Oh, we get along just fine because we have nothing to argue about. We don't know nothing about each other. Well, how many, in 365 days a year, how often do you see Carl? Well, we've been married 48 years. We've been together about three of that. Three. Not really. Actually, I'm home a lot. Yeah. And we enjoy each other. But I do, I do travel. He doesn't like the travel. He's a home body.
Starting point is 00:12:51 He's cancer. Those that have horoscopes, you know, those are people that love to be home. I love to be at home. Yeah, he's, yeah, July 20 has a question. Really pretty sisters. That's me, I'm a cancer. Oh, you're not fat. I'm good and healthy.
Starting point is 00:13:05 Zoftic, I guess, would be the word. Zoftic? Yeah. I don't even know what that word is. What is it? You're at. Have you always been rather Zoftic? What would they call that where you grew up in Tennessee?
Starting point is 00:13:22 see, isn't? I, I can't say. Healthy, I guess. Um, booze me. I guess that'd be what they'd say. But, um, what did you ask me just before that? Oh, well, yeah, I've always been pretty well blessed. People are always asking if they're real and. Oh, I would never, I would never, you see. No, you don't have to ask. I would not. I'll tell you what, these are my, I have certain guidelines on the show, but I would give about a year's pay to peek under there. Can't say. You ever wish you were born a man? Do I ever wish I was born a guy?
Starting point is 00:13:58 Lord, no, I've always been a sissy. And if I'd have been born a man, I'd have been a drag queen. Lots of people dress up with you, don't they? Oh, yeah, all the time, boys and girls. Yeah. Just like it weird looking at... No, I think it's fun. I think it's a great compliment.
Starting point is 00:14:16 Because if I hadn't been a girl, I'd have been a drag queen. For sure. I would. A really good one. Do you, do you, have you actually ridden the splash rides or jumped in the water there? Oh, no. No, you think Moses parted the water. I'd be like,
Starting point is 00:14:30 Oh, wow. Wow. I don't think I'd better to it. But we know how they're around. I think it'd be quite safe, yeah. I've been such a lot. 10 people trying to push you under. But they're always talking about my boobs, you know.
Starting point is 00:14:47 Not that I don't know why. But they're sex, and they're not that big. It's just that I'm little and they're big in comparison to that. Well, they're, yeah. And I would just kind of do my nails. It's kind of like a topwriter to me. And so I would do working nine, two, five. Can you hear that?
Starting point is 00:15:09 I got my little mic. So anyway, that's how it all started. I would just. You could do that with the ass. I wonder what you could do with those boobs, honey. Bam. Well, I wrote this song because it's been real good for me ever since I started on your show.
Starting point is 00:15:22 And you said one time, once I got to be real famous, I probably wouldn't come back on the show. But I always will. I'm here as much as you are. Anybody else? I like, no, do you sing in the shower? Do I sing in the shower? No, but I don't wash on stage either.
Starting point is 00:15:42 Hi. You believe in living together before you're married? Lord, I don't even believe living together after you're married. Dolly, I'd like to ask you a question. Okay. I know that you have a lot of experience wearing wigs. Yeah. And I wonder, should I use rogain?
Starting point is 00:15:57 Should I get a wig? Or should I stay the way I am? What do you think, darling? I think you should stay the way you are, because just because you've lost your buzz don't mean you're not a peach. You can't get a wig repaired because Litterman's got some kind of a hairpiece crisis. Hi, Dolly, I'd like to know how long does it take to do your hair? How would I know I'm never there? Hi, Do you lift weights?
Starting point is 00:16:51 And if so, would you work out with me sometime? And Dolly, here's my question. My girlfriend has a dog that drives me absolutely crazy. Every time we're together, he just goes nuts. And it's getting to the point where it's either me or this dog, but I don't know how to tell her. What do you think, Dolly? I think he's going to have to have one of you, neutered.
Starting point is 00:17:20 All right. So, um, um, um, the, um, jay. Jackie, you had, I think, overt reactions to all the boob talk. But the thing about Dolly Parton is that she's known for her boobs, right? Like that's music and, you know, she was funny. She's, you know, Dollywood. She's an icon, like I said, icon American sweetheart. But the, you know, you think Dolly Parton, people say, an offhanded comment, you know, sideways,
Starting point is 00:17:49 Dolly Parton, they're talking about boobs. And that's like a shift listening to her. like Johnny Carson saying he wants to stick his head up under her shirt. Like that was, you know, year salary. Instinct canceled today. Oh, for sure. Well, so something funny actually happened when I was a kid.
Starting point is 00:18:08 I think I was older. My brother, I think, was only four or five. And we went to Dollywood in Tennessee. And, you know, like most theme parks, there's a place where you can go inside and you watch a movie about why they founded it, who founded it, blah, blah, blah, blah. Well, it's a dark theater. it's very quiet. Dolly Parton comes on the screen. She's like, hi, y'all. And there's like a pause. And you just hear my brother go, oh my God, mommy. Look at her boobies. It's dead silent. There's like hundreds of people in here. And I mean, I was like 14 or something like this. So I'm like, oh my God. No one's ever going to be my friend again. How could my brother embarrass me? But it was just hilarious because it was like a big screen. And it was the top half of Dolly Parton covering the whole thing.
Starting point is 00:18:54 And he just, his little kid brain couldn't even handle it. It was hilarious. Yeah. So I mentioned before we played that that there's, you know, the vaccine thing, obviously. She turned Jolene into a vaccine song. She called anti-vaxxers cowards. She got vaccinated on TV, you know, like other people who died too soon. And then, you know, the more kind of conspiratorial, Luciferian type of stuff.
Starting point is 00:19:24 started coming out so um uh christina rise attire just dropped this in the chat and the post itself says love her but look this is from nj darling 1977 on x dolly parton godmother of mily cyrus dies at age 80 322 calendar days after saying i ain't dead yet just hours earlier mildly promoted her next chapter. Dolly in Hebrew Gematria is 825. Her death date is 825. 8 plus 25 equals 33. The timing is full of symbolism.
Starting point is 00:20:00 How does she look younger in that than she has looked in any of those? But that's crazy. Yeah. Like usually when they have the plastic surgery, you know, they have like so much more face. And like all the features get smaller. Anyway, sorry. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:15 And Christine in the chat says Masonic, high priestess, 100% industry power structure predictable and gross and i'm not ready to die yet i don't think god is through with me who have made giving back a key part of your life so hey when you had the first one can i have it because that is going to be one special baby the what did you say to the god of self i think she said oh my heart i'm going to back i'm really proud of you i've always been proud of That is going to be one special baby. There you go.
Starting point is 00:21:38 I didn't get it. To the God itself. God itself. My heart. Okay. I'm really proud of you. I've always been proud of you. And I'm proud to be your third mother.
Starting point is 00:21:51 She's the godmother of my life. That's right. Mm-hmm. I decided to release, used to be young, on August 25th, because this particular particular date historically has been important to me personally and in my career. Sports are coming in from cities around the world as the night sky mysteriously turns red. So wait a second. The album is called Used to Be Young and it was released on the day that
Starting point is 00:22:49 Dolly Parton died and the... The announcement was released. So the album itself hasn't come out yet, but that was just an announcement. Okay. She announced it on the day. the day that Dolly Parton died. And then Christina in the chat says, Billy Ray gave his daughter to Dolly. His birthday is also 825. Her album release promo is a red sky signaling ritual sacrifice. Dolly taken out, Miley replaces her in the secret order. His high priestess, I think, is what she's saying. And Miley Cyrus is 33. And 8 plus 25 is 33. And her birthday is in November. So they had to get it like right at the end. to make sure that she was still 33.
Starting point is 00:23:31 Yeah, man. I mean, I don't know what to do about that, except give it to the Lord and pray the blood of Jesus. You know, that battle is the Lord's, in my opinion. I don't go out looking for demons. Some people do. Guy running for governor here in Colorado, he has a whole retooling thing where he finds,
Starting point is 00:23:56 finds the demons and sends them away. Like a ghostbuster? So it's I found that was so funny, but I really do. He, it's called a retooling prayer. He brings the subject, patient person who's being prayed over, right?
Starting point is 00:24:21 Into a circle. And communes with its demons has the demons speak through the person tells them its name, how many powers it has, how it's deceiving the subject, and then he alleges to, he has, oh, he calls forth two angels, I believe, on either side
Starting point is 00:24:44 of the circle, and then the angels dismember the demons, according to the story that's been told. And he is the Republican candidate for governor here in Colorado. It's awesome. Everything's awesome. Everything's fine. Don't worry about it. Good luck with that one. Yeah, that sounds fun. So Florida. I know. House right down the street for sale. Matt and I was talking about that the other day. We're like, you think about Florida, close up to the water where you could fish a lot. Yeah. Because he's the holdout. Matt's the holdout. He does not want to live in that climate.
Starting point is 00:25:20 And it's a pretty much climate issue. Yeah Georgia's more expensive though It is And we're also thinking of moving out of Georgia Because it is expensive Yeah But I would love it
Starting point is 00:25:33 If we all moved into the same area And then we could open a studio Yes Yeah Yes The cul-de-sac Our ass of the back But yeah
Starting point is 00:25:44 You know It's a It's a tough one Because there was other things about You know a lot of tributes about Dolly this past week and people talking about the things that she did without ever asking for, you know, help or anything. And it's, it's crazy to reconcile or ever asking for notoriety. Not asking for help, but like, you know, paid off. Thanks for hear this about President Trump.
Starting point is 00:26:12 I've heard about Dave Matthews, right? I hear about like these wealthy people do lots of benevolent acts and never ask for any notoriety about them. Until they do. But this, I'd heard a bunch of stuff I didn't know about her. And yeah, I mean, I hope she wasn't a luciferian hypnosis. But I mean, even if there is some evidence that points in that direction. Well, I mean, even if that was the case at the end, let's say, I don't think so through her whole career.
Starting point is 00:26:47 I mean, through all, like, she was like the epitome of like strong independent woman that could do anything. Like if like there was a story about Elvis where like she was going to be on a record with him, but they wanted to take over half of the rights and all that stuff. And she just didn't just because even though he was the most famous person in the world. Like I don't know. So I feel like maybe at the end it changed is what I'm thinking. Yeah. If it's true.
Starting point is 00:27:17 Yeah. I mean I think about the husband. Like I. So first of all. my parents been married for 53 years this year, I think. 53, yeah,
Starting point is 00:27:31 173, that's 53 years, right? Yeah, sure. Math is all. I know. Like, if we're ever doing math in our life. No, I'm not doing it. No, you have a problem live. And my mother, like, for the first, you know,
Starting point is 00:27:50 33 of that. they live pretty much apart because my dad traveled all the time for work. And my mom attributed that to being a big strength in their relationship. They valued each other much more. You know, like it was like absence makes the heart grow fonder thing and a different type of partnership. So I can see that being like, you know, he doesn't want to travel. She wants to travel.
Starting point is 00:28:13 He's doing his thing. She's doing her thing. And that makes them stronger. I can see that. But, you know, my conspiratorial mind is also, was he a handbook? Like is we just do we never see him because he's you know I don't know. So many so many avenues. The conspiracy brain can go down.
Starting point is 00:28:33 I know. It's a weird. It's a weird place. And nobody understands it except for like people who are in like us. Like we get it. I can't just go to my brother and be like this is what I was thinking about this. And he's like, you're crazy. Yeah, they'll always think you're crazy.
Starting point is 00:28:51 somebody tagged me on X. There's a candidate out here that died suddenly and just tagged me Ash in America nefarious question mark. And of course in my head I'm like, that would be. Oh, let me start searching. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:07 I mean, you have to leave it open that the regular social incentives and carrots and sticks didn't work. So a person has to be taken out. But that's a real dain. It's a real slippery slip. I know that. So,
Starting point is 00:29:24 I hope that Dolly Parton rests in peace. And I hope that she's with the Lord. And I don't know that we can know whether or not she is. And that's why it's okay for that to be the hope. And that's your week in history. All right. I am going. to
Starting point is 00:29:51 curry favor with Jackie and go into the mainframe. Access requested. Identity confirmed. Faked you out. That was foreshadowing. Maybe. Do, do, do.
Starting point is 00:30:09 Anyways. Tell us, Jackie. I do like that intro because I just realized that today's whole thing is going to be about the control center. So I got three different things that you guys can kind of do
Starting point is 00:30:22 with the control center. Center probably didn't realize you could do. And I also, I'm teaching you how to screen record. Woo-hoo. Oh, I love it. This is, that'll be a really good one because that's how you can make clips, everyone. So you're like, can somebody please clip when, you know, Jackie said blah, blah, blah, at three minutes and 23 seconds.
Starting point is 00:30:42 Now you can because Jackie's the best teach you. That's awesome. Do I need to pull it in? All right. And welcome back to the control center. logging into the mainframe. Today's upgrade is all about one spot on your phone. You're probably only half using, and that is the control center.
Starting point is 00:31:03 First, a quick refresher on how to even get there. To access your control center, all you're going to do is swipe down from the top right on your phone. And there you go. Your control center is open. So now let's go in and actually make it useful. First up, this is the one I get asked about the most. You've probably seen people online post clips of something on their screen, a text thread, an app glitch, a receipt, whatever. But you've probably wondered how they actually did this.
Starting point is 00:31:35 And I'm going to show you how. So on your phone, you're going to scroll down from the top right to open your control center. And then down here, you have different app options. But as of right now, we don't have the option that we're looking for. We're looking for the circle with a circle. in the middle. So we're going to need to add it. So top left here, you see that plus button. Go ahead and tap that. And now it gives us an option to add a control down here. So tap that. And as you can see, it opens up this menu. There's a bunch of different options for you to swipe through and choose from all of the different apps on your phone have different items you can add to your control center.
Starting point is 00:32:20 But what I'm looking for is up here at the top and what we're looking for is screen recording. So go ahead and add that. So now you see that has been added. We're going to go ahead and just tap on an empty space and now that is available. Before we go in and screen record anything though, I highly encourage you to go in and put on a do not disturb or a focus setting so that if any notifications come through while you are screen recording, they won't show up on your video. So that is my first suggestion there. And then to screen record, all you'll have to do is tap on this icon here, the circle with the circle filled in in the middle. And it gives you a countdown here at the top. Three, two, one. And now it is
Starting point is 00:33:10 screen recording. So now anything that I do on my screen, you will be able to see it. It also records the audio of whatever video is playing on your screen. It won't record my voice, so that's nice, but anything that is being played through the app, as long as your volume is up, you will be able to hear it. The entire time that you are recording, you will see this red dot up here to let you know that you are recording something. To end the recording, all you have to do is tap on that button and then tap on stop, and now your recording is saved in your photos. And that's it. That's how every screen recording clip you've ever seen online was made. No app, no download.
Starting point is 00:33:55 It was all sitting right there on your phone already. Next, the control center isn't fixed the way it looks by default. You can actually go in and reorganize the whole thing around what you use most. Again, we're going to swipe down from the top right to open the control center. Now we are going to edit. So you can either press and hold on an empty space. or you can press the plus sign on the top left. Either way, it's going to open up the settings for you to edit.
Starting point is 00:34:25 As you can see, there is a minus sign on the top left of each of the icons. This is to remove any of the ones that you don't use. Or you can go in and change the size of the actual icons. So you see how there's like a little thing at the bottom right. Hold that and it will, you can move them around in the space. Or you can make them bigger or smaller. So just drag out the corner and now you have a bigger icon. So you can go in and just mess around with it, however you want to see everything.
Starting point is 00:34:59 So now you can put your most used stuff big and up top and shrink or move all of the stuff you never touch. Last one, the control center can actually span multiple pages, not just one screen. So this is what my current setup looks like right now. I have all of my favorites under the heart. I have the music option. And then I have all of the connectivity options here at the bottom. But you can also add custom pages.
Starting point is 00:35:29 Let's say you fill this whole thing up and you need another page. Over here on the right side, you can see that there is a circle now. If you go and scroll down to that, that lets you add more controls. So that is a great place. If you want to add more controls to a new page, or if you want to like move something. from one page to another, you just long press on it and hold and then just bring it down to the new page and you can set up a new control page right there for you. So now you can have one page for your
Starting point is 00:36:02 everyday stuff and a whole separate page for something like home controls or music instead of everything crammed into one screen. And that's this week's upgrade, your control center, actually being useful and not just being stuck on. on the default settings. Go ahead and make some edits and figure out how you want your control center to be set up. And again, let me know if you have any suggestions. See you guys next week.
Starting point is 00:36:29 Bye. So good. Yes. That was super good. Thank you. Now I want to see what all that are resized are. It's just been that. So a tattoo teacher also says you can do that on your home screen as well.
Starting point is 00:36:45 So if you have apps and stuff, you can make them bigger or smaller. I think you can add widgets and all of that to that. So yeah. I don't see how to make them bigger. I know how to add widgets, but there's not, it doesn't have that little draggy thing on the bottom corner on the home screen. For me anyway. It does for some, I think for the widgets. It has the draggy thing. Oh, for the widgets. Yeah. For the apps, it doesn't.
Starting point is 00:37:09 I love the widgets too. I have the like photo memory one up. So there's just like random photos that pop up. And lately it's been a lot of the boys and there's, as they're small. Yeah, I have that one. Well, not of voice being small. Not of my sons. No. I posted a family picture this weekend. For the first time in like a really, I think the last family photo that I posted on the internet was Caleb's graduation, which was a while ago. That's awesome, though. You have a good time with your boys? Oh my gosh, it's such a good time. It's such a good time sharing the picture. So everybody can see the guys.
Starting point is 00:37:59 And this, the Daniel is the one, you guys know, Caleb, Daniel's the other one sitting next to me with the face. And that's the normal, that's the most normal face that we got. And at one point, I yelled at a moment, can you just look normal? And that's, it was worse after I requested normal. So that's the closest we got to normal. And then I shared, shared my life house. where you make sure live is on or you record a video instead of taking a picture and you tell a joke or you say something because then they get tricked into smiling and then you can pick that picture. Screen record it.
Starting point is 00:38:33 Yeah. Yes. Or screenshot it. Sorry. Yeah. Love it. All right. Any other things?
Starting point is 00:38:43 I was just going to say that that video, if you guys want to go back through it and play it and pause it and do all the things, will be posted to my Rumble channel. here at 5 p.m. Right on. Nice. So you can log back into the mainframe at 5 p.m. But right now we're going to log out. Logging out of the mainframe. Session complete. All right.
Starting point is 00:39:04 Before we jump to our next topic, let's talk about soft disclosure. These are the hands that built America. Hands that hammered. Hands that welded. Hands that carried the weight of a nation. Good Lord Randy. Working hands take a beating.
Starting point is 00:39:38 Soft disclosure gives rough, dry skin, lightweight hydration that absorbs fast without leaving your hands greasy. Every purchase supports six small American businesses. One from everything they do, they're still. Take care of the hands that take care of everything else. The ones they love. The hands that built me and you. Softdisclosure.com.
Starting point is 00:40:19 Use promo code Labor Day for the one more week. We've got 17% off. And that is the best discount that we have running right now. But if you were signed up for the insider discounts before the weekend started, there was a much better deal going on. And that is why you want to be signed up. at softdisclosure.com, sign up for the email insider
Starting point is 00:40:40 club, but you won't regret that. You get the best deals there. And the best deals mean getting the best tallow. It means getting the best lip balm. This is actually a tallow stick that I'm using as lip balm, which you will recall was back at the beginning. We didn't have lip balm.
Starting point is 00:40:57 Back in the day, in soft disclosure, we didn't have lip bombs or mini talos. We had giant talos. and I used it. It was a lot of fun, actually. I missed those days. But we have many ones, no, we can use.
Starting point is 00:41:14 And absolutely fantastic. And the best lotion around. It is the only lotion that I use. Yep. It's awesome. Yeah. Yeah. And that's, that's, that's,
Starting point is 00:41:29 I have a question about the video, though. It might be like, I don't know, maybe I'm missing an inside joke, but I'm pretty sure, Sure, Chartreuse is green. Yeah. So it's a, so it being in the ad goes back to a baseless conspiracy discussion about whether Chartreuse was green or pink.
Starting point is 00:41:49 And then as the ad came out, we learned that it is a Mandela effect that some people actually remember Chartreuse as pink, including tattooed teacher. If I'm not. Yeah. She's, she's agreeing. And she's, she's the authority on all. all things science for this show. So, yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:12 I guess my parents and see what they think. One thing I noticed about the ad, you know, we find Easter eggs sometimes. I don't know if it's an Easter egg, but he hands him, John hands him. Oh, and by the way, the boys on Y-chromes said, well, that was redundant. The Y-chromes said that,
Starting point is 00:42:34 that John looks at Randy with a gay look. I was waiting for that part and I didn't. Yeah, I don't think that's what's happening at all. I think that he is looking at Randy with admiration for the hands that built me and you and the boys on white crumbs. Sorry, the Ychromes just need to get their heads out of the gutter. But the thing that I noticed is that John hands Randy when he puts the ball. bottle down on the counter, it's lavender vanilla. But when Randy is applying the lotion, it's vanilla citrus. Oh, I didn't even notice that. Magic changing lotion? Maybe it is.
Starting point is 00:43:19 That's what if you ever get an error and you get the wrong one, it's because it was magic. Yes. It wasn't a mistake. It was on purpose. You really actually wanted. that you really want to change the motion. I have never heard anyone say that Chartreuse was pink before in my life. I think it sounds pink. I think it sounds pink, yeah. But I also think that I could just be merging it in my head with fuchsia. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:49 Which is a sort of pink, right? So I don't know. I don't remember it any one way, but I love this kind of stuff. Yeah. I also, so the room that I was in in Ocala, the walls were shartreve. talking about this. Yes. Nobody even said anything.
Starting point is 00:44:06 No, it's pink. Because we actually said that word too. I like using that word because I feel fancy when I say it. And I like, I mean, I had green hair for a long time. Did you have charteroose in your bar? No. It's really hard to come by to get. And it's green chartreuse.
Starting point is 00:44:21 It's not like, there's no pink version of it. No, it's a liquid. Yeah. But it's hard to come by. I would love to get a bottle of that just to like display it. I don't even know if I drink it. I just want. Wanted to say it. At least tasted. Right. So I need to address something in the chat. Cancon says it is a total gay look. And he says kiss ass, ash, which I think means that he is suggesting that I am only holding the opinion about the look that John gives Randy because I am trying to curry favor with John Harold.
Starting point is 00:44:56 Oh, wait, wrong on. That tagway was awesome. That was too good. Seamless. Great. It was great. All right. So. Hello, Professor. I'm not sure if you guys have figured out what the idiom of the week is yet. I'm not sure. Any guesses? Chartreuse. Chartreuse.
Starting point is 00:45:29 Starts with the same letter. But Curry favor, which I have looked at this one when I go through idioms a bunch of times. And I swear I've read it and been like, oh, no, it's kind of boring. Well, I was wrong because this story is so much longer than I thought it was going to be. But curry favor means, if you curry favor, you are trying to win someone's approval through flattery, compliments, or extra attention. In simpler terms, it means buttering someone up in hopes of getting a benefit later. When an employee laughs a little too hard at the boss's jokes or a student suddenly becomes a teacher's biggest fan right before grades come out, they may be currying favor. In short, curing favor is what happens when compliments suddenly become an investment strategy.
Starting point is 00:46:21 Which is not what I was doing for the record. I actually think that he is admiring the hands that built me in you. It's like a little kid's face to me, like a hope. for the future face like a like you're here to build the world not like I want to see your boxer briefs tidy whitey is more like but boxer briefs we'll go with
Starting point is 00:46:49 so the origin comes from this ridiculous ass horse right here oh that's a horse yes that is a horse okay I see now that isn't a poem standing like a man yeah or
Starting point is 00:47:05 sitting on throne. Like Baphimand. Yeah, it's kind of... The horse is kind of sitting like Baffa. Okay. Anyway. Despite the word curry, Mike suggests, this phrase has absolutely nothing to do with delicious Indian cuisine. The word curry in this expression originally meant to groom or brush a horse.
Starting point is 00:47:25 The phrase traces back to medieval France and a famous horse named Fovil. Fovil was not a noble heroic horse. He was not a noble heroic horse. He was. is a sneaky dishonest horse who symbolized corruption, flattery, greed, and other bad behavior. People in the story would groom and pamper fovel to gain advantages, which eventually gave rise to the expression. So it comes from a French poem, which I should have looked up how to say that, but Romand de Foval, I would assume, written in the early 1300s in the story, becomes powerful and important so people compete to please him. They literally curried or
Starting point is 00:48:12 groomed him hoping to stay in his good graces. Over time, Curry Fovol became associated with flattering someone for personal game. Imagine a medieval version of social media where everyone desperately wanted a horse's approval. Language loves to place tricks on people and this phrase is no exception. Scholars believe that Curry Fovol gradually changed to Curry Favre because English speakers no longer understood who Fovol was.
Starting point is 00:48:42 The unfamiliar name sounded a lot like the word favor, sort of. Wasn't it Favel? Well, no, I looked it up. It said the accent was on the second syllable. I don't know. I was, I listened to it like 30 times. Vauvel. I think it was in, there's a
Starting point is 00:49:02 French boy is saying it in an English way. But either way. I mean, I guess if you're talking fast enough for not paying attention, it changed it to favor. It's like telephone. Eventually, like, as more people like say it, it changes. Yeah, fovel. How many of these idioms that we have done, I mean, that's the whole point of this segment is like figuring out what they actually mean. And some of them, the pronunciation is why they are that way. So this is. Yeah. Yeah. Well, and so that is folk etymology is what that is and in other words people accidentally editing the phrase until it becomes something they can understand it's proof that autocorrects existed long before computers love it so yeah people people dumbing down an idea until it changes entirely hmm
Starting point is 00:49:54 interesting it essentially means the same thing right the horse was great and wishes it sounds like And so they were hurrying it, brushing it. Yes. To get it to gain an advantage. Currying favor is, I'm standing with the English bros on this one. I think that the horse is irrelevant. Yes. The underlying meaning is the same, you know?
Starting point is 00:50:22 Yes. So it was a French satirical poem written around 1310 to 1316 by, some French guys and it was expanded by another French guy because I cannot pronounce those words Gervas de Beuss and the other word Yeah it's fine
Starting point is 00:50:44 So a modern paraphrase of it is Beauvel will say The horse rose high in power Lords and bishops came before him They brushed his coat and praised his greatness not because he deserved it but because they hope to win rewards
Starting point is 00:51:03 so then I was looking more into it and apparently the name of the horse is actually an acronym and it symbolized vices so like flattery these words are
Starting point is 00:51:21 I believe they're in French they look like French yeah so like F for flattery there's a word It starts with A for greed. Averous. Yeah, Averous. Okay, good.
Starting point is 00:51:33 I don't know how to say that word. Villany. Villany. And then fickleness for the... But so the U and the V could be interchanged, so that's why there's a... They're both V words because I wasn't sure why that was... That's Latin, too, isn't it? Or use V's in Latin.
Starting point is 00:51:51 Yeah. Yeah. Which is the foundation of all the romance languages, so including French. then envy and then the last word ash lichet is cowardice or lichet i don't know lashete i shouldtay maybe i think it has i think it has the accent on the end that sounds fantastic
Starting point is 00:52:15 so together these traits made the horse the most perfect symbolism of corruption and dishonesty which was really interesting to me because I thought it was just they just picked a random name or the horse was named that but it really is an acronym which is interesting. So the earliest written usage of it. Lacha Shea. La Chasse Shea. La Chay. The last sound is Shea, not Tay, it says.
Starting point is 00:52:45 Oh, interesting. Oh, wait, no. Sorry, I was looking at the wrong syllable. The first one is a shah and the second one's a t. So it would be Leshate, like you said. Nice, Jackie. My dual lingo is paying off. Look at you go.
Starting point is 00:53:06 But so the way that it was written as the modern term, it was first written in 1510. So that's old. Yes, that's very old. But I mean, if the poem was written in the 1300s, that shows how long it took for it to, you know, change. But it says, flattery, not as do some with none curry favor. The phrase later became standardized as curry favor and has remained part of English ever since. More than 500 years later, people are still currying favor with bosses, teachers, celebrities, and anyone else who might hand out rewards. Bevel may be ancient history, but the habit of sweet talking someone for a reward is
Starting point is 00:53:54 as modern as ever. Well, certainly so. Indeed. They are. But I just want to go back to this picture of this horse because what? Yeah. What are the two things on its side? They look like little cubs or little bears.
Starting point is 00:54:12 Maybe we could look up what that was meant to represent. Because I just saw the picture of the horse and I was like this horse, he does look like he is a dishonest horse. Yeah. A sneaky dishonest horse because. He does. He's always sitting like that, by the way, in all of these pictures I'm looking at. It's creepy as hell. Look at this. This one, I mean, they're wearing, they're dressed like monks, and the monks are talking to the horse. Hang on, let me share this.
Starting point is 00:54:40 Yeah. Oh, I see. You see that one? Yeah, I just saw it. That's so weird. Right? Like, he was like a man that was turned into a horse or something. Yeah
Starting point is 00:54:55 So these guys Like I don't know What else we got They sit like Like when he looks like this This looks a lot like Baphimut Maybe it's just the way it's sitting
Starting point is 00:55:14 And the fact that it's a horse The other one's a goat, you know Well it's just really like it looks like he's like Yeah that's right Come pet me Come brush me You peasant I don't know
Starting point is 00:55:25 Yeah Yeah. Oh, yeah, it was a man dressed as a horse, Kim. The true deception is that he's not even a horse. Dun, da, duh. Maybe he's a donkey. Could he, I mean, he's giving me like sheep. Or like a zebra.
Starting point is 00:55:43 And he's pretending to be a horse. So I zoomed in on that way. I'm just going on record. I don't think a horse can set like that. I zoomed in on his, his like, thrown thing to see, like, what the head's, are like tiger cubs or something. Maybe it's supposed to be the chair.
Starting point is 00:56:05 That's what I'm thinking, like the throne chair. Yeah. It's weird. Because you can see like these are not horse legs down here. This is a horse leg, but this is not. Oh, I didn't even see his leg. So then I guess it's a hoof. That's a huff here. This one looks like a chair leg.
Starting point is 00:56:25 It does. What about the top? Does he have hooves on both at the top? Yeah, they're both hush. It's crazy looking. It was like when I saw that picture. It does look. It looks like the thing on the right, like that could be the feet of the little tiger cub.
Starting point is 00:56:40 Oh, like this? Yeah. Yeah, like that could be the feet of that animal. Oh, I could see that. But have paws. Weird. Yeah. That's creepy.
Starting point is 00:56:53 Yeah. It's wild. That's where it was way more interesting. I think that could be true. The lion cubs are holding up the sinister horse. Well, they used to use a lot of like lions and stuff like that. Yeah, magic, magic sneaky dishonest horse. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:57:18 Trust me. If you want a curry favor with me, bring me curry because I like it. Oh, I do too. You know Brian doesn't like it? And it makes me mad because I always want to make it. And he's like, I mean, it's okay. Like it's delicious I'll eat all of the Indian food all the time
Starting point is 00:57:33 Well when we move down there and build our compound With our studios then we can have curry all the time Can't say anything about it Brian will eat nothing He is wrong with a lot of stuff though so it's not surprising This is true Well sometimes I make it anyways because I'm like You know if he tries it enough maybe he'll
Starting point is 00:57:51 Actually start liking it Yeah Maybe I love it Hot medium mild, massamum, you know. Even if it's the cheese and not the meat, it could be meat or the cheese or it could be any, that sauce. Indian curry, Thai curry. Oh yeah. We'll do all of the. Jamaican curry.
Starting point is 00:58:13 Macon curry. Yeah. Good stuff. Yes. That's what we'll do. We'll do a curry night, but we all have to bring curry from a different country. Ooh. I like it. That actually sounds like a cultural experience. I never knew I needed. Right? A curry party. We can curry favor with each other. I bet in Las Vegas that there is a place to get all the curries. The house of curry, if you will. Chattipit!

Starting point is 00:59:56 like living in the future. Christy's Labor Day. Christy, I think this is the few the most. So just FYI, your husband's off in time by about a week. But I'll have to tell Christy about that since.

Well done. I was looking at that and I was like, what the hell? Like what? What? And I'm like, why do those numbers like kind of make sense to me? Like I know those numbers.
