Starting point is 00:00:00 Shrugged family! It's Wednesday. That means we're back! Another barbell shrug. This week, Evan DeMarco from Omax Health comes back. The first time we met Evan, we went like 90 minutes, maybe two hours almost, on Omax fish oils. This time, we're sitting down, we're talking CBD oils. Evan's a super smart guy. I really enjoy hanging out with this guy. So much so that we did a half marathon in the mountains with him. We ran the Spartan World Championships 13.5 miles up and down Squaw Mountain in Tahoe. Totally waxed ourselves for like 5, 5. half hours, something like that.
Starting point is 00:00:48 And then decided it would be an awesome time to turn the microphones on and talk about CBD oil. I enjoyed it. Callie Bundy, if you don't know who she is, she's really cool as well. She's kind of most known for her killer ability to throw footballs. She invented trick shots on the internet. It's pretty sweet. But she adds a ton to the conversation. She has been a sponsored athlete by OMAX. And in training for the Spartan World Championships.
Starting point is 00:01:32 Evan made her some sweet little concoctions using the CBD oils in combination with the fish oils. And she said it was incredibly good for her recovery on long runs and any of the strength training stuff she's doing in her own training. So really stoked for you guys to learn everything there is to know about the endocannabinoid system, how we can use CBD oils for health, longevity, and performance. And, you know, we have a lot of problems in our society. So make sure you get over to omaxcbd.com backslash forward slash shrugged, and you're going to get a sweet deal. omaxcbd.com backslash forward slash shrugged, and you're going to get a sweet deal,
Starting point is 00:02:13 50% off one month supply of the stress remedies, O-M-A-X-C-B-D dot com forward slash shrugged for 50% off one month. Going to help with calming anxiety, restless sleep. It's a full-spectrum hemp oil and omega-3s to regulate a variety of functions, including mood, sleep, hormone production, nervous, and immune system responses. So get over to omaxcbd.com forward slash shrug and save 50% off a one-month supply. We're going to get right into the show this week.
Starting point is 00:02:47 Make sure you get over omagcbd.com forward slash shrugged 50% off your first box. It's awesome. We filmed this in Tahoe right after running the Tahoe Spartan World Championships and had a blast. Loved hanging out with Heaven all day, all weekend actually, and hope you guys enjoy the show. Welcome to Barbell Shrugged. My name is Anders Varner.
Starting point is 00:03:23 I'm hanging out with Doug Larson. We're in the ballerist freaking room and resort at Squaw Valley. Is that right? I think so. Like Tahoe. Like Tahoe. Yeah. We all just got finished, and I say we all.
Starting point is 00:03:35 Evan DeMarco from OMAX Health. How's it going, guys? Callie Bundy. That's right. New to the show. New to the show. This is exciting. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:42 I've never even listened to this show, so I have no idea what to expect. Before, Evan said. I can't believe she admitted that on the show. I know. Why can't I admit that? No, you can't. Again, do you want me to be honest? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:55 No, no, no. That's what we're here for. You don't want to respect me? But now you have a new fan. Yeah. There is. I do. We have one more download coming.
Starting point is 00:04:01 Yeah. I like that. Yeah. I will listen. We literally just got off. I mean, so much so that we were all kind of scrambling around to figure out how we're going to make this thing happen because we were so muddy and gross because we just ran 13 and a half miles at the Spartan World Championships. And I think we crushed it.
Starting point is 00:04:17 I think we did. Everybody under six hours. Yeah. Nobody's too banged up. No. No injuries. I got kicked in the testicles. True story. In freezing cold water, which means that's a banged up. No. No injuries. I got kicked in the testicles. True story.
Starting point is 00:04:26 In freezing cold water, which means that's a pretty good shot. Actually, yeah, because they were already up in my stomach. It was a good shot by that guy. Right? The cold water, let's walk through it. We're going to do the cliff notes of four and a half miles, four miles straight up to start. 32 obstacles.
Starting point is 00:04:45 34. 34. Remember that chick? Oh, that's straight up to start. 32 obstacles. 34. 34. Remember that chick? Oh, that's right. You weren't with us. Oh! You left us to forage for mushrooms. Singer right off the bat.
Starting point is 00:04:54 Welcome to the show, Callie. You can find her at Callie Bundy. God, that's good. I don't know what happened. We were together until we got to the top of the hill. And then things, I don't know. I thought I'd catch you guys in the freezing cold water. I didn't see it.
Starting point is 00:05:11 Next thing you know, I don't know what happened. You said you've been doing all this trail running, right? So all of a sudden we look and you're like Speedy Gonzalez up the hill. The walking thing was, I think, where we all got separated. Yeah. The thing is so straight up and down that you just put your head down and try not to trip and fall on your face. I only did that once.
Starting point is 00:05:29 But not face. Had the hand go back. Saved myself. A lot of embarrassment. You fell going up the hill? Fell going down. Rock slipped out. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:38 Nice hand placement. Looked smooth. I'm sure it looked incredibly athletic. Absolutely. We lived. I went down. Did you? Forward Absolutely. We lived. I went down. Did you? Forward or back? I went down forward.
Starting point is 00:05:49 Right in front of me. You did a gangster parkour roll. I love that. It was an awesome recovery. But here's the best part. I did it because my Apple Watch just told me that Elon Musk resigned as the CEO of Tesla, and I was paying attention to it. Is that real? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:05 Breaking news. He was like, what? Breaking news. So I'm like, I'm literally looking at my watch as this news alert is coming in. Trip. Wow. This very nice lady stopped to ask me if I was okay. People are good about that.
Starting point is 00:06:16 Yeah. I liked all the Spartan people. Everybody was friendly. Yeah. They're helping each other up the walls. Yeah. How did you guys do on the obstacles? Good. Yeah? Smashed it? Yeah. Yeah, no, we up the walls. Yeah. How did you guys do on the obstacles? Good.
Starting point is 00:06:26 Yeah? Smashed it? Yeah. Yeah, no, we did pretty solid, I think. Yeah. I think when I went to the Killington one, I ended up doing a lot more burpees than I did today. So you did them. Yeah, unlike today.
Starting point is 00:06:39 Today? We sometimes do the burpees. There's a little thing called the honor system. There's also a little thing called the honor system. There's also a little thing called the optional system. I'd like to have fun doing this. And burpees at altitude. Man, I was counting out threes to get to 30.
Starting point is 00:06:59 I was like, is anybody watching me? Do I get an extra medal for doing the right thing? No. Not at all. I don't even know what to do with the medal. What are we doing with the medal? Should we put it in Barbell Shrugged Hall of Fame? Finish her.
Starting point is 00:07:10 What do you do with anything you're excited about? You take a photo of it, you put it on Instagram, and then you throw it away. Yep. Exactly. It's the disposable society we live in. I love it. Evan DeMarco, you were on the show talking fish oils. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:22 Man, what was that? That was California Regionals. We did it over at Stratum. Yeah. True story. Unbelievable. And that show crushed. We're going to talk about CBD oils today. We are going to talk about CBD. It's pretty exciting stuff. And the big intro for you, Callie Bundy. Yeah. Best known for, first off, Division I softball player. Correct. Total gangster on the socials. Allegedly. Because of? Because of throwing a football.
Starting point is 00:07:49 Right. And you've been on ESPN. Yeah. Sports Center. Tell me about that because that's like kind of like my childhood dream. Yeah. I've given up on it. Now I'm on Barbell Shrugged.
Starting point is 00:07:59 So that's cool too. I kind of felt like a little bit of a loser. Wait, why? Because I was like, you know, I've been an athlete my whole life. Like, I played soccer, basketball, softball, softball in college. You know, I'm like, oh. And then I'm like, hey, Mom and Dad, like, you want to tune in and watch me on SportsCenter for throwing footballs at cardboard boxes and elementary school playgrounds?
Starting point is 00:08:19 Yeah. I made it. Mom, I made it. I know. Apparently they want me on did they watch? oh of course yeah and I think that's when my dad finally understood
Starting point is 00:08:30 like what an influencer was and what I actually did with my life because all of his friends were also watching and they were like oh her on the run shot into the basketball hoop my dad's like yeah that's the one people listening right now are probably pretty fucking confused like what what what is the what is the story behind everything you just said um yeah so it's it's kind of a i didn't mean for it to ever become a thing but i competed in the
Starting point is 00:08:54 npc and then on to the ifbb um as a like to try to fill a void for you know being an athlete we have a massive crossfit audience that does not know what those no no i know so and it's not really a big thing this is what when people are like what are you talking about i'm like do you know arnold schwarzenegger and they're like oh yeah yeah yeah and i'm like okay the olympia the olympia is like the super bowl of the ifbb so that was the same federation so it's the international federation of bodybuilding and fitness which is what it is and i competed in division called bikini which was the exact opposite of anything i'd ever done in my life um i was a complete tomboy like didn't even like own a pair of heels and then i'm like
Starting point is 00:09:37 in a tan and a bikini and clear heels spinning around on a stage and it started to eat at my soul and so i had to do like a giveaway video for this food company. And I just finished competing. It's like five years into it. And I'm like, I'm just so sick of not doing anything athletic. Like it's just all about a look. So it's a lot of fake fitness. So I went out and I love I've always thrown footballs.
Starting point is 00:10:00 I like so I'm like, oh, let me just do something different. I'm going to throw this football into the food box and this food food giveaway and people were like oh it's fake like good there's no way you could do that because it actually bounced into the about the box and then bounced out so then i realized that people and i'm like why would i post something that's fake so then i posted another one and they're like oh it's fake because it left it left the shot like you're able if you want to do like cgi that's how you do it is it has to leave the frame so then i'm like all right with my iphone set up on like like the old iphone yeah set up on like the back of my car in a field like hitting prop it up on like a shoe yeah i had i
Starting point is 00:10:36 love that i had like that's like the meathead special yeah throw it up on a shoe right and then i would have like a cone in the distance and and I would try to get me, the target, and the ball all in the same shot. And then people were like, oh, you're only doing this to show off your ass. And I'm like, listen. I do everything for that. Right. Who doesn't? Why do you have to catch flack for that?
Starting point is 00:10:56 Right, yeah. And I was like, have you seen a pair of football pants? If it was a dude throwing a ball in football pants exact same thing but because i'm a female it's interpreted differently right so then people were like well you can't do this and you can't throw on the run i'm like i don't know i've never tried let me try so then i would try it and so it just evolved and then when instagram came out with their one minute video i clipped them all together and that's when i went viral and that's when i ended up on espn and all that so that's like the shortest answer possible sorry to everyone listening how many so you're famous doing gangster trick shots yes basically
Starting point is 00:11:29 yes before like anyone was really doing them now like everyone now it's frisbees right now it's like if you google girl throwing football it's me oh you smash seo killer yes so everyone listening google girl throwing football. Totally. Yes. Push it higher to the top. Which I didn't know until last year. I got invited to the Marcus Allen. Do you know Marcus Allen? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:51 Golf tournament out in LA. And his brother was actually like, do you know, like, if you Google girl throwing football, it's you? And I was like, no, that's actually pretty cool. That's really awesome. But also bizarre, because who would have thought in like you know 2016 17 18 that that would
Starting point is 00:12:10 be so like fascinating for people to watch right it's super novel come on like people doing weird shit that's what the internet was designed for it cost you like 8 seconds of your life to watch and it's cool yeah i love
Starting point is 00:12:26 watching the like the ping pong ones and the beer pong ones how many takes does it take usually to make the shot yeah they're all different i've definitely hit some on like first second third it's usually within like the first 10 and then if i don't hit it like that's when it takes forever um but usually yeah because you start thinking about it or you're like oh my hand placement and I've never been taught how to throw a football yeah I just converted my softball throw into throwing a football so I throw like a third basement like I keep my elbow in and I throw from my ear and I have a really short uh motion and people are like there's no way you could throw that far with that short of motion. But I've always thrown from my core.
Starting point is 00:13:07 So it's the right way. Right. Where I get my velocity. But I'm always like, yeah, you know, if somebody actually taught me how to actually do this. Yeah. I might be OK. Those damn Internet commenters. Well, you flew all the way out.
Starting point is 00:13:18 Right. From Connecticut. Sacramento. Met up with Evan. Yep. You made the trek out here to Spartan. Yep. Now we're on a podcast this is exciting stuff
Starting point is 00:13:27 dude the Omax Ultra Pure Omega 3's smashing with our listeners but you also do the CBD thing I do the CBD thing when did this kind of take off with you and the research side of this thing
Starting point is 00:13:44 it's kind of like a new thing that is starting, I would say it's starting to catch some steam in the health and fitness space. Absolutely. It's one of the fastest growing segments of the marketplace, which is weird considering all of the regulatory issues surrounding CBD. And the funny thing is, it's kind of, you know, looking back on my history growing up playing sports, you know, especially baseball, football in high school and college. I mean, you get caught with drugs. It's like you're done, right?
Starting point is 00:14:09 Drugs. Drugs are bad. Just say no. So then all of a sudden CBD comes out, right? And I'm a product of that Nintendo generation. And it's like, you know, it comes from the hemp plant. So I see hemp and I'm like, oh, it's a drug. I'm not going to put it in my body.
Starting point is 00:14:22 So like so many other people, it took me a while to really dive into the research and figure out this is not a drug. Yeah. And more importantly, and this is going to tee up a political conversation and who cares, but is marijuana really a drug? I mean, come on. So I started researching not only the plant itself and all of the medicinal components to it, all of the therapeutic benefit. But I'm like, why is this a drug? It's a fucking plant. Yeah. Right.
Starting point is 00:14:48 So you kind of look back, right, in 10,000 years ago, 5,000 years ago, this stuff is used in China and India as one of the major medicinal compounds. So where along the way did it go off the rails? George Washington grew hemp in his front yard. At one point in the United States history, it was illegal to not grow hemp. It's like you had rope, you had fibers. We were making clothing out of it. Cotton industry comes along and pushes hemp out.
Starting point is 00:15:12 So in the 1930s, what happens in this weird reverse immigration policy is the state of California demonizes marijuana, which is the Spanish word for this particular plant. And in the actual law that they wrote, they said that Mexican men were coming across the border, smoking marijuana, getting high and soliciting sex from white women. And that was verbatim what was in the law. So they said, if you're caught with this, we're going to deport you back to Mexico.
Starting point is 00:15:41 So this was our 1930s version of building a very big wall yeah that ruling was later legally overturned by the supreme court but in the 1960s it still came back um as a one drug on the same level as opium as cocaine and so you know being part of that just say no you know a generation i looked at this stuff and i'm like i just had that visceral reaction right this is a drug so it took me a while it took me about six months of looking at the research looking at the history trying to figure it out turns out it's not a drug it's a plant uh and cbd is one of 113 unique phytocannabinoids thc being the other one you know other most prevalent. And so obviously,
Starting point is 00:16:25 these are antagonistic, and we can kind of get into the science of this one. But I'm like, CBD seems to have a pretty therapeutic benefit. So we start looking at what we call the endocannabinoid system, this peripheral system to your central nervous system, which regulates a lot of different things, sleep, appetite, pain, inflammation. And lo and behold, CBD seems to have a pretty positive impact on this. Interestingly enough, so do omegas. So then I'm like starting to kind of bridge the gap between my omega, all the omega research that I've done and CBD.
Starting point is 00:16:55 Omegas being fish oil. Omegas being fish oil, yes. And if you need a refresher course on that, see my previous Barbell Shrug podcast. Right. Yeah. Shout out to the old one shameless plug shameless plug that show smash that was a really good one i love that show ton of good feedback from it yeah yeah go ahead sorry i don't remember no i i've had my cbd i
Starting point is 00:17:15 don't know i just ran 13 miles i don't remember anything uh so really what we started looking at is how do you combine these things together why Why do they make sense? How does it impact the endocannabinoid system? And the problem with the CBD market right now is there's a lot of cowboys in it. There's a lot of people talking about it. So it's become the new catch-all, right? It'll fix everything. You know, you've got cancer. You've got, you know, you've got one ball that's bigger than the next. You know, your hair is falling out. It's like whatever it is, take CBD. That's why this guy takes it right there. Exactly. Got to fix that discrepancy.
Starting point is 00:17:49 The balls or the baldness? Yeah, the balls. Both. And the baldness. So one of the things that I really got excited about is looking at stress reaction. We are so stressed out. Right. I mean, literally, we're just amped up all
Starting point is 00:18:07 the time and what I found is CBD really seems to have an impact in modulating stress but it's not a panacea it needs to work with other things so the product that I created which was kind of the launch product I think we're going to talk a little bit about it and I think Callie can really talk about this as well as Omax stress Remedy, which was a combination of CBD, full-spectrum phytocannabinoids from industrial hemp, high-concentration omegas, and L-theanine. And what I really wanted to do is create something that helped people deal with the daily stress without putting them to sleep, then recognizing that as that stress sleep cycle kind of exacerbates itself, we're amped up during the day, we can't shut off our brains at night, then we can't sleep, so we're tired the next day,
Starting point is 00:18:49 and then we jump to the coffee or the Red Bulls or whatever it is. So we perpetuate this really bad sleep cycle, and then we're just all a bunch of fucking walking zombies. So in creating this product, the goal was deal with the stress during the day, help you sleep better at night, which for athletes, it's that recovery time, right? It's you're getting better sleep. You're recovering more. And then start your day, your next day fresh.
Starting point is 00:19:11 Break the cycle. And what does that mean for people? So the first thing that we did was, you know, I created this product and I did a focus group testing. And it was kind of crazy, right? You know, bring 30 people in, put them on this product for a month, and then go film afterwards. And I was shocked at the results. I mean, like I had people just breaking down in the studio crying, saying, I didn't know I could sleep that well.
Starting point is 00:19:31 I didn't know what sleep meant until I took this product. And so it was really kind of cool. I was like, we've made something impactful. We made something that we know works. And so I actually gave it to Callie, who's been using it for a number of different reasons. And I think we can chat with her a little bit about that. But, you know, obviously as, you know, sleep, stress, working out as much as you do, I think there's some pretty cool things that it does for, you know,
Starting point is 00:19:53 someone who's really looking to get their gains in the gym, as well as looking to just improve their general health and wellness. Yeah. Is the intention that you take it right before you go to sleep? Or does it not matter when you take it? You know, it really doesn't matter, but what we do find is there's kind of a latency in its impact. So if you take it right before you go to sleep,
Starting point is 00:20:10 it's not going to be like an Ambien, right? Three hours seems to be really kind of that sweet spot for maximum efficacy. Does it make you sleepy, or does it help you sleep better? It helps you sleep better. Actually, what we find is that it really helps you drop into REM sleep and stay there longer. Now, one of the side effects of that, if you want to call it a side effect, is people have the craziest freaking dreams, right? I mean, I can't tell you the number of emails I've gotten from study participants, from customers. They're like, oh, my God, my dreams are insane.
Starting point is 00:20:41 Which is kind of cool because I knew, like, when you start looking at theanine, which can actually help separate out your alpha and theta brainwaves while you sleep, which is what gets you into REM sleep, you combine that with CBD and omegas, like, it's the perfect recipe for just going down for the count and letting your brain do exactly what it needs to do when you're sleeping, which is separate out those brainwaves and really kind of process a lot of that underlying emotional stuff that we don't get to do because we're sleeping so poorly. Yeah. Callie, do you get crazy dreams on high dose CBD? I do. Yeah. Are they fun dreams or is it like, what's it like? I think it's more of
Starting point is 00:21:16 they're just more vivid. Like everybody dreams, right? It's just a matter of if we remember it or not. A little more lucid. Right. You're in it. So when I started taking it, I definitely was like, oh, wow. Like, I remember, like, I literally had a dream I was playing football with, like, Eli Manning, and I caught a touchdown for him. And whereas, like, before I would wake up and I'd be like, oh, like, I think I was playing football in my dream. Where now I was like, I could remember putting on my uniform and, like, walking out of the locker room.
Starting point is 00:21:41 And, like, I could remember everything. So it definitely makes you dream and remember them. But I have a question. You know, like with fish oil, like people are like, oh, I take fish oil, right? But it's a matter of like you have to have the right like dosage and all that. Is it the same with CBD? Like is there a difference? Because I feel like a lot of people are making CBD products
Starting point is 00:22:06 now. Is there a difference in like, you have to know to take the good one? There is. And part of the issue with CBD, and we talked about it, is you get all these people out there claiming whatever. And when we really look at CBD, the way that CBD interacts with the endocannabinoid system, you kind of have this system of like a lock and a key, right? And this is just how, you know, your cells work. CBD doesn't really interface with that lock really well. It's not like a direct link where then all of a sudden you take your CBD and then you've got this great boost to your endocannabinoid system. Now, when we look at full spectrum phytocannabinoids, these, you know, from industrial hemp, which are these 113 unique phytocannabinoids minus the THC, that synergistic blend of all of them really seems to work well in impacting the endocannabinoid system.
Starting point is 00:22:54 But like a lot of products that we take, bioavailability becomes a question. You take it in, how much, a pot shop, medicinal marijuana dispensary. And you see ultimately that there's so many different CBD products on the market ranging anywhere from five milligrams up to 500 milligrams. So how do you differentiate? And I think the big thing is we have to talk about systemic bioavailability. And with that, that's a conversation ofbd with ingredients that we know are going to have an impact on the endocannabinoid system omegas and theanine are two perfect examples and we've got some other excuse me we've got some other things like melatonin pairs well with cbd that's a good one um when you look at amino acids right uh especially after what we just did today
Starting point is 00:23:41 we kind of beat our bodies up we We need to start synthesizing protein, and CBD with BCAAs actually seems to be a really cool pairing. So people who are looking for a little post-workout recovery, take your CBD with something. And obviously what I always recommend is titrate up. Start with 5 milligrams of a good quality CBD. And wow, that was dying in the back over here come around to golf today bud it's all right no big deal yeah yeah we just ran a spartan yeah yeah
Starting point is 00:24:13 is it you said you said you know start start low and touch it with your way up is there like a you know a standard dose like based on body weight or anything like that out there in the literature no and it's really kind of interesting right because it hasn't been well researched just because of the legalities of it excuse me uh and so that's something i'm not clear on by the way like i hear it's it's illegal but it's not illegal but it is but it's not okay so we'll jump in let me answer your titrating question we'll jump into the legality of it so you know some people have a real discernible impact from cbd and their endocannabinoid system some people don't now there's a lot of interesting
Starting point is 00:24:51 other ingredients out there that seem to really help your endocannabinoid system things like cloves things like garlic even you know polyunsaturated fatty acids from fish oil so some people have a great impact from it some people like i took five milligrams i't feel anything. And then they'll titrate up to 50 and they're like, okay, now I finally felt something. The literature really is not that pervasive out there in the marketplace simply because of the legality. So let's talk about that. As of, what is today? 29th. The 29th. As of the 29th. That's awesome too. Are you roasting by the way? No, it's actually really nice. Okay, so you're right in the sun.
Starting point is 00:25:26 She's right in the sun. We're making sure that Callie's taken care of. So as of the 29th, there's a proposal for... There's a hemp farm bill that's being proposed, and that farm bill would legalize the domestic cultivation of industrial hemp. At this point, certain states have legalized hemp, they've legalized CBD, they've legalized medical marijuana. But the only way to legally sell a CBD product across straight lines is to import it from a foreign source, which is based off of an old kind of
Starting point is 00:25:57 US Department of Agriculture pilot program. That CBD has to be labeled as full spectrum phytocannabinoids. So everyone out there in the barbell shrug world, if you see a product that says full spectrum phytocannabinoids, that's CBD. And that's actually the legal way that it has to be labeled. It has to have THC at below 0.3%. And it has to come from that industrial hemp. Now Europe is the predominant source of this. And Europe actually gives the seeds out to the farmers so the government maintains the seed stock for this so that they can actually bioengineer it for the THC to drop the THC down and then they're responsible for actually giving it out to the farmers
Starting point is 00:26:34 two weeks from now three weeks from now this whole landscape is going to change in which case you know the hemp farm bill will pass most likely and then you're going to have a, you know, a whole market opening because at that point, CBD will be legal to sell across state lines from domestic sources. Kentucky is actually a big state on this right now. And when we look at replacing tobacco farmers, Mitch McConnell, interestingly enough, not to get into a political thing, was the one that sponsored this farm bill for the purposes of saving tobacco farmers by replacing tobacco with hemp. Because tobacco obviously is taking a, you know, like the soda industry is taking a big shit, which it should. Yeah. I want to get into just a little bit of the physiology side of it. The endocannabinoid system.
Starting point is 00:27:17 Yes. Say that 10 times real fast. That's like 12 syllables. I was going to ask about that. Because all of a sudden in the past like year or two, it's all you hear about. I'm like, did we just find out about this? It's new. It's like the microbiome and the endocannabinoid.
Starting point is 00:27:30 Well, you guys were just talking about that thing. Those two things just kind of came up hot in the last five years. Evolution just got here, so we just created it in 2018, humans. Right. What is it? What is it responsible for in our bodies? How long have we known about it? Great question, right?
Starting point is 00:27:47 And so not very long. Really? The reality is we haven't known about it for a long time. What's not long? I would say that we're really starting to understand in the last 10 years. I mean, we knew that it existed, but we had no idea what it was. It was kind of like the spleen, right? It's like, what the fuck does this thing actually do?
Starting point is 00:28:04 I had no idea, actually. You take your spleen out, and kind of like the spleen, right? It's like, what the fuck does this thing actually do? I have no idea, actually. You take your spleen out and you're like, nothing happened, right? Like, if I take a lung away from you... Didn't we have a spleen from like when we ate bark and stuff? Yeah, like more raw meat. And now that we don't do that? I have no idea. Wait, you don't eat bark anymore? I try not to.
Starting point is 00:28:19 Today you did. Yeah. All the way down the hill. I need more fiber. Yeah. You can slide that chair over if you want to get out of the sun. I the way down the hill. Need more fiber. Yeah. You can slide that chair over if you want to get out of the sun. I'm toasty over here. Yeah. So the endocannabinoid system, and again, definitely a mouthful. We like to say the ECS just because no one else can say the damn thing.
Starting point is 00:28:38 I was going to say this. That's what I needed. ECS. ECS. ECS. So what we know is it's peripheral to the central nervous system. So it is a system that seemingly used to tie into the central nervous system and maintained a lot of those bodily functions that we talked about. Sleep, appetite, right?
Starting point is 00:28:55 Which is kind of interesting because if you think about, you know, full-spectrum phytocannabinoids, if you smoke a lot of weed, you get the munchies. So CBD and THC are actually antagonists to each other. So one of the fun things that we're finding in modulating and actually supporting the endocannabinoid system is when we remove THC, we have a lot of these therapeutic benefits. One of the biggest ones that recently kind of came out in the news was the GW Corporation out of England got the first ever FDA approval for a CBD-based product. That product is called Epidiolex, and it's used to treat childhood epilepsy. And this is where we get into these conversations about what product is best. Epidiolex, as a pharmaceutical product, as well as just any other kind of product, is a CBD isolate. So it's just straight CBD.
Starting point is 00:29:42 And I believe, don't quote me on this one, but I believe the daily dosage is like 1500 milligrams. So because you're recommending starting with five, five, exactly. So when you actually put all those 112 unique phytocannabinoids back into the mix, we have these really unique therapeutic benefits. And this is where it gets fun, right? And I'm going to geek out for two seconds. Now? Were we not geeking out a second ago? Yeah. Sorry. I'm going to listen three times.
Starting point is 00:30:09 This is perfect. Get after it. Get after it. So one of the cool – Get on the mic. Let's roll. It just got fun, guys. Let's roll.
Starting point is 00:30:15 It just got fun. It just got fun. You know, I want to tell a story in two seconds about what Callie did on the mountain today, which is going to be awesome. But we'll talk about – we'll geek out for two seconds. Get after it. So we've got these 112 unique phytocannabinoids. And I think the next 10 years of research is going to be awesome because then we can take these things apart and put them back together for indication-specific response.
Starting point is 00:30:38 So it's like we know that CBD might be good for pain. One of the biggest things right now is looking at it to titrate opioid addicts off of opioids. It really seems to work for that. I mean, that's a huge big deal. Opioid addiction is a monster problem. So if we've got a CBD platform that allows people to get off the opioids, I mean, how do we not do that? Sleep. How many people want to take an Ambien, right? You know, take an Ambien, you know, next thing you know, you're driving down the freeway at 70 miles an hour. It's like that shit's horrible. And we know long term what these things are doing to people.
Starting point is 00:31:10 So getting on a healthy, natural sleep regimen is fantastic. Stress. Who's not stressed, right? You know, then we start looking at like cancer research and things obviously that we're a long ways away from, but being able to really talk about fundamental problems in our health and wellness and be able to look at these full spectrum phytocannabinoids to address those is just fascinating. And so I've been really kind of focused on this cutting edge research of how do we separate these things out and put them back together? So it might be 5% CBD. It might be 5% CBDA. We might be looking at CBG.
Starting point is 00:31:44 We might be looking at all these different ph CBG. We might be looking at all these different phytocannabinoids and it's, it's fantastic. It's, uh, you know, the research with the passage of the farm bill is going to explode. And I think we're at a really exciting time where for the next five years, it's going to be CBD for very valid causes. And the challenge for us right now is to make sure that the cowboys in the market aren't, you know, out there selling crap. You mentioned earlier that there's, uh's things that pair well with it. Fish oils, melatonin. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:09 Is there specific things in melatonin, the fish oils, that do you need those paired with it? Or is CBD fine just on its own? We tend to find that when they're paired together that you actually have a better benefit. Right. And even with melatonin, right, some people take melatonin like nothing happened. You pair melatonin with CBD and you find that you fall asleep quicker and you stay asleep longer. You pair CBD with L-theanine, right? You find that your levels of C-reactive protein and homocysteine drop.
Starting point is 00:32:38 I mean, we're looking at cortisol levels, prolactin levels. I'm doing a clinical research study right now on sleep. What we're finding is that CBD, theanine, and omegas are actually lowering people's C-reactive protein, homocysteine, prolactin, and cortisol levels. So now they're starting their days less stressed. Go through your day with less stress. You sleep better at night. Sleep better at night. You start off the day with lower intonation. So you're actually breaking those sleep stress cycles. Yeah. You mentioned cancer a couple times now. What actual research has been done on cancer or where did those comments come from?
Starting point is 00:33:10 One of the biggest ones that came out is that CBD or full-spectrum phytocannabinoids seems to attack breast cancer cells while leaving healthy cells in place. Now, again, the issue with some of the research because of the legality is, is that, is it really vetted? Is it accurate? Has it gone through FDA, uh, double blind placebo control? This one on breast cancer really seems to be promising. So, you know, my grandmother really late in life at 92 ended up with breast cancer. And I look at, you know, there's so, you know, my, uh, my ex-wife's, you know, mom had that, you know, my ex-wife is, is, you know, kind of prone towife's you know mom had that you know my ex-wife is is you know kind of prone to that when you look at some of these diagnostic tests so that means potentially my daughter might have that gene so when i look at really treating the next generation we look at environmental toxicity what's that doing for people's telomeres we're talking about
Starting point is 00:33:59 that on the mountain today how is that actually exercising gene expression so some of these pre-existing conditions that lay dormant in our cells are actually expressing themselves cbd and breast cancer seems to be pretty prevalent yeah telomere length is is i want to say correlated with with aging yes like once your telomeres get they lose length over time then that's one of the things that people think contributes to you actually aging and dying. Correct. Is that accurate? Definitely, yes.
Starting point is 00:34:28 I think that's accurate. But I think also what we look at, and we're going to talk about shit real fast because I sent you guys out the Viome Kit. I scooped it. I scooped it out. Put it in the thing, shook it up, pooped and scooped. Sent it back to me, told me what was going on. Yeah. It was awesome. So the Viome Kit, which is the microbiome, we talked a little bit about that. what was going on yeah so awesome so interestingly so the volume kit which
Starting point is 00:34:45 is the microbiome we talked a little bit about that what's going on in your gut now a lot of these other you know microbiome kits what they're showing is your dna you know 23andme is a perfect example right so you're going to get this report and it's going to say you might you know have a risk for breast cancer you might have a risk for, you know, coronary heart disease. But what the it doesn't show is the RNA and the RNA is the potential expression of those genes. So when we actually start to look at modulating our lifestyle, whether that's with diet, exercise, all the things that we know we can do, we can maintain the potential expression of those DNA genes. And telomeres are a perfect example. So as those telomeres start to lengthen, as they start to
Starting point is 00:35:24 fray, that's when we see those gene expressions start to take place. And that is in the form of things like cancer. If your telomeres are great length, they're not frayed, you know, they're what they're supposed to be doing. You can, you might never, ever see the expression of that cancer potential with yourself, but age, environmental toxicity, just the way that we live our lives are shortening those. And then that's when we start to see those gene expressions. I think a good way that you said to explain all what you just said real fancy like was like your DNA. Someone make this. Right.
Starting point is 00:35:54 Was that your DNA is your hardware, right? And then your RNA is your software. Yeah. So you can actually, you can't change your DNA. So it is what it is, but you can actually improve your software and your body to help you live longer, prevent disease, all those things, which is basically what you just said. She's not just hot, she's also brilliant. Look at this.
Starting point is 00:36:14 Not at all. Like I said on the mountain, you've got to know your strengths and weaknesses. My brain isn't one of them. But that's where I like to just get in there and let's just tell the people what the smart guy said. Right. Is there a smart guy around here? Yeah, that's where I like to just get in there and let's just tell the people what the smart guy said. Right. Is there a smart guy around here? Yeah, that's you.

Starting point is 00:41:06 We're still in Tahoe. We're still in Tahoe. Evan's still here. We've been rambling, and this is just kind of what we do. On Microphone Sound and Smart. I'm a little disappointed we haven't had any CBD yet. Well, you know, the night is young. We'll break it out.
Starting point is 00:41:19 At some point, we're going to have to do it and give it to other people. You're going to have to post it and give it to other people so that, you know, at some point, you're going to have to, like, post a video of my forehead right now. So I've got, like, the barbell shrug, the Spartan sweatband on my head all day. We're at 9,000 feet. I've got, like, a two-inch suntan, like, on my forehead. It looks freaking ridiculous. It shows everyone how badass you are. Like, oh, what'd you do today?
Starting point is 00:41:45 Ransom Hills, 13 and a half miles, two hours, no big deal. Can you believe people do that in two hours? No. I don't know how that's physically possible. I don't either. Like, I feel like I'm not slow. And it took me, like, five-ish hours. How do you shave three hours off of that?
Starting point is 00:42:06 I don't know. Who are you? You're running up a very steep hill. What are you taking? You're tired. There's no air. CBD is what they're taking. They don't feel it. There's no stress on their bodies.
Starting point is 00:42:17 That's true. Look at that. They might be taking a few other things. Like what? Things. Weed with THC instead of without. Performance enhancing. We always go to performance enhancing drugs.
Starting point is 00:42:30 It's like the simple one. Yeah. It is. I think CBD. And I think if you want to perform as well as those people did today, you know, omaxcbd.com, barbell shrug. Or barbell shrug. OMAC CPO CBD.
Starting point is 00:42:43 Shrugged. Shrugged. Shrugged. Shrugged. That was my, like, main recovery was double dosing on the OMACS recovery Com. Barbell shrug. Or barbell. OMAX, CPO, CBD. Combo. Shrugged. Shrugged. Shrugged. Shrugged. Shrugged. Shrugged. Shrugged. That was my, like, main recovery was double dosing on the OMAX recovery in the morning with the aminos. This morning?
Starting point is 00:42:50 Every morning since we've been training. Oh, nice. Because I had texted Evan, and I was like, yo, my legs are not recovering from these endurance days. Like, you can do HIIT, you can lift, you know, and you recover. But when you run that long, like, you can't recover as fast. And he was like, double i'm like i feel like i need both so i was he's like take the omax recovery in the morning with aminos because
Starting point is 00:43:11 they work together to help the recovery process and then three hours before you go to sleep then take the omax stress so that's what i was doing and it definitely definitely helped i love that yeah i heard somebody saying the other day they were talking about how since uh cannabis is becoming legal and there's there's all these different kind of spinoffs that um you know there's so many gummies and edibles and vape pens and it's it's not just smoking weed yeah anymore so to speak uh now if you go if you go get a gummy and there's just thc in there now there's an isolated form of thc and there there's different types of THC, and you probably know more about that than I do. And not having it paired with CBD, which it would be automatically paired with CBD
Starting point is 00:43:52 as well as the other full spectrum of the endocannabinoids. Phytocannabinoids, but close, close. We'll get you there. There's going to be a test on this later, guys. So has there been any any research or is there any any validity to their people that are taking pure thc without cbd to that potentially causing problems no but there's going to be um in the reality is if you look at the way this plant was originally grown you had all of them in there and the dosages were really
Starting point is 00:44:23 low right so you had lower dosages of cbd had lower dosages of THC. We were starting to bioengineer these plants. So just like the CBD where we bioengineer it with lower incidences or lower amounts of THC, they're doing the same thing on the THC side where they're jacking up the THC content and lowering the CBD. So if you're not kind of offsetting those two things with the endocannabinoid system, you've got some pretty profound effects. And I don't know. If I were to take straight THC at the dosages that some people do, I'd stare at a wall for four days. Let me tell you what happens. You can go to Vegas, and there's a store that sells it.
Starting point is 00:44:59 And, man, 20 milligrams of whatever they're selling is like 100 everywhere else. It's terrifying. Got lost in Vegas for like five hours one day. Fucking floating through Caesar whatever palace. Jesus. Is that the real Caesar's palace? Looking for Caesar. We're Caesar.
Starting point is 00:45:19 I think I found him, guys. Terrifying afternoon. Is this the real Caesar's palace? We need to figure out a way to make that standardized. 20 means 20. 10 means 10. The one in Vegas. Terrifying experience.
Starting point is 00:45:32 Well, and that brings up a really fascinating point, not just from the THC or the CBD side, but how do you standardize this? Like with THC, you've got 1,000 different strains, 1,000 different delivery systems. How are those things working? So one of the things that I tell people, regardless of whether or not you want to buy Omax Stress Remedy, shameless plug, go do it because it's the best on the market. Slash rug. Slash rug. Exactly. Exactly. But the other key component to this one is make sure that you're
Starting point is 00:45:57 getting a consistent delivery system. So gummies, vapes, tinctures, all of these things, they're inconsistent in their delivery. Tinctures are a perfect example, right? You think you're getting five. If you don't shake up that bottle well enough, well, you get five today, but you get 25 tomorrow. So soft gels I really like for something called content uniformity. Each soft gel is tested to make sure that it's got the exact amount of what it's supposed to be in. So if you're looking for something to really improve your health and wellness journey, that type of consistency is really going to be essential for you know making sure you're getting consistent delivery across you know your dosages and all the things that go in that um and we were talking about something oh you know what i do want to bring this back to something because i've been thinking about this
Starting point is 00:46:36 since we talked earlier is the kelly bundy story there it is so when we talk about the race i think one of the things that she asked me in a previous interview is, what was your favorite part? I'm like, I like the rope climb and some of the upper body stuff. But there's this moment where we're running down a hill and this guy with long flowing locks and maybe a man bun. Beautiful. He was beautiful. He was gorgeous. He was a stallion.
Starting point is 00:47:00 He was a stallion. He was shirtless. He was shirtless. I was shirtless the whole thing. Yeah, it's inappropriate. I just didn't want bad town lights, which I got one anyway. Yeah. So this guy's running down the hill, and he's like, on your left, darling.
Starting point is 00:47:16 And she, like, without hesitation, nanosecond response, reflexive. He's like, did you just call me darling? Fuck no. And it was just absolutely like, I almost fell over me darling? Fuck no. It was just absolutely... Almost fell over. How did I miss this? I didn't even see this. I was hoping there was a right hand coming over the top after that comment. That's awesome.
Starting point is 00:47:34 You were right behind us, but it was on a tight trail where it was all single file. He's like with his shirtless self and his ponytail flowing in the wind. He's like, on your left, darling. I'm like, did you just call me darling? Fuck no, on your left.
Starting point is 00:47:47 Get out of my way. Dang. I wanted to know if I was near any Spartan celebrities out there. Like, there was a guy in Justice, you know. Dude, you were in the beginning. This man got stopped more along the trail than... Did you? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:58 Doug Larson, a barbell shrugged in technique one? A lot of times. Yeah. While he was being passed. That's right. In almost being passed. That's right. In almost every case. That's all right. Because I was behind Callie.
Starting point is 00:48:08 If you're getting passed. Come on, hurry up, Callie. You have a higher probability of seeing people if you go slow because you're stretching it out over more time. You know what you're doing. It was all marketing. You've been around for a while. I think there was even a couple and a wife.
Starting point is 00:48:23 Who won today in the Callie Bundy or Douglas Larson? Oh, me. Me and Evan came in right before Cali. No, no, no, no. In the celebrity online recognition. Nobody knows who I am here. Doug slayed that one. God, what a savage.
Starting point is 00:48:39 Even just by his voice. They're like, oh, my God. I had three or four people just be like, wait a minute. Hey, they're behind me and they can hear me talking to you and they were like are you doug you're doug yeah i know you i was waiting for you know to be like yeah you want me to take a picture with them so weird when people uh it's it's awesome it's incredible uh my favorite one we're at the crossfit games and this whole family came up to us it was like we listen to you in the car when we're going on vacation. I was like,
Starting point is 00:49:06 that's terrifying. There's kids in the back seat. Tell them to shut up. Why do we have to listen to that stupid show? Who cares? Earmuffs. Earmuffs. It's a weird thing, right? Being recognized. Because you're like,
Starting point is 00:49:22 who am I? You know who I am? yeah like there's what's like you know who i am i'm doug's friend you are actually one of the times he was telling me how you were his friend and when he was talking that's when the guy recognized amazing true story yeah when we uh at the booth they put our sign up and a whole bunch of people, I guess, were like, oh, the Barbell Shrug guy's here. Yeah. That's you. You guys are legends. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:49:47 Well, new guy. Doug's a legend. Doug changed. Yeah. Savage. Let's get back to talking about season two. Also, when I posted you guys on my Insta story. I'm such a fucking random normal dude.
Starting point is 00:49:58 Yeah, I know. Everyone. You're a good looking Gronk. Yes. When I posted you on my Insta story. That's a compliment I needed today. A goodlooking Gronk. Yes. When I posted you on my Insta story. That's a compliment I needed today. A good-looking Gronk. Because I do a lot with Gronk on social media.
Starting point is 00:50:10 We have Six Star. You know, I'm a Gronk fitness ambassador. For the next episode of Barbell Shrugged, let's talk about Gronk's party life. Yeah. Actually, a really funny story about how our Miami shoot started off this year. But besides that, when I was posting to you guys, people were like, oh, my God, that looks like Gronk. Oh, really?
Starting point is 00:50:29 Yes. I like a bunch of people in my comments. And I'm like, actually, it kind of does. It does kind of look like Gronk. Yeah. Okay, Gronk. Cheers. And you were a football player.
Starting point is 00:50:39 Yeah. Dig it. Cheers. Great job. Were you a tight end? Once upon a time. No, but he does. Following Doug the entire race, he does have a tight end.
Starting point is 00:50:47 Yes. That's what kept this guy going the whole time. He definitely did. Carried on a stick. Yeah. Why do you think he had his shirt off? I kept hoping Doug would be like, yeah. He's like, I'm so hot.
Starting point is 00:50:56 Can I rub some coconut oil on that? Right. So if we take. Anders was like, all right, we got to change. We got to change. Back to CBD I actually thought of a funny
Starting point is 00:51:06 Instagram like a weird creepy story oh let's hear it do you wanna hear it yeah a weird creepy story we literally have
Starting point is 00:51:13 the rest of the night let's roll yeah let's do it so there was a guy that started on Snapchat writing me messages wait you're on
Starting point is 00:51:19 Snapchat too I was before Instagram came out with Instagram stories because brands were interested in Snapchat because it was performing well. And I'm like, another platform.
Starting point is 00:51:28 But then Instagram stories came out and now brands don't care about Snapchat anymore. I remember when they came out, I was like, Snapchat is totally fucked. Oh, yes. And I was like, thank you, God. Yeah, thank God because I didn't want to get on Snapchat. They adjusted their IPO like right as Instagram stories came out too. It was like, we're going to take Ofoc. The biggest middle finger ever.
Starting point is 00:51:47 Oh, no, this is bad. And Instagram literally stole Snapchat. They stole it and put it on Instagram. But it was – and Snapchat has the potential to be a lot creepier than an Instagram or a Facebook or Twitter because everything disappears, right? So there was this guy that was writing me very vivid and ridiculous messages about our lovemaking and very detailed, right? And I'm like, okay. Do you want to share any of those screenshots?
Starting point is 00:52:24 Very bad. Okay. I was like, right? And I'm like, okay. Do you want to share any of those? Screenshots? Very bad. Okay. Like, I was like, what? Yeah. And so I blocked. Was there, like, a farm chicken involved? No, but there was, like, other females at times. Okay.
Starting point is 00:52:35 And very descriptive. Yeah. And so I blocked him on Snapchat. Oh, you're the one that blocked me. Yeah. And then he started emailing me. So then I blocked one email, and then he started emailing me so then i blocked one email and then he started like another one and i had to like my agents reached out at one point and they were like you have to knock this off and he went through a whole relationship without me ever responding to a
Starting point is 00:52:57 message of our like love life to our relationship to then we broke up and why should we just be friends and this was over a course of like nine months. And you never responded a single time? Never responded. Not once. The good thing about the internet. That dude's practicing creative writing. He doesn't care at all.
Starting point is 00:53:14 He's just getting some legwork for creative writing. You were actually like a creative writing project for college. I hope it had some positive benefit because I was just like, what is going on? He only got a B on that. Dude, if I take a CBD gummy, how long do I have to wait before this thing kicks in? CBD is a lot different. And a lot of it's going to depend on your specific biology.
Starting point is 00:53:37 But if you take a straight CBD gummy, probably in the neighborhood of like 45 minutes to an hour. Cool. How do I know if I'm getting good or bad CBD? Great question. Another one. So here's my general rule of thumb on this one. The CBD market, which Forbes has estimated is going to top $3 billion next year. We saw this.
Starting point is 00:54:00 Constellation Brands, the company that owns Corona, bought or invested $4 billion into a CBD manufacturer in Canada. Coca-Cola announced two weeks ago that they're interested in acquiring CBD rights for new liquid beverage distribution based off of a Canadian. I saw this. We have to talk about this. Go ahead. Finish it. And there's actually something really cool in that that we'll talk about. But so basically this is a $3 billion industry, and that brings out a lot of people who are like, I just want to get in and get out with a quick buck.
Starting point is 00:54:28 My rule of thumb is go with a company that's got other products, that's got longevity in the market, because you know what? They've done the research. They know the pitfalls. They know the legal ramifications, and they're not going to bank their entire business off of launching a product that may or may not be regulatory compliant. They may not be following the regulations. The other thing, too, and this is where it gets a little tricky, right, is don't be afraid if you're interested in CBD to call the company and say, hey, I want to see your C of A's, right?
Starting point is 00:54:55 Because there's a lot of companies out there pushing what they think is regulatory, regulatory compliant CBD that has THC at higher levels. So now if you're in a state that does drug testing for your job and you're taking CBD for pain, for sleep or whatever, and it's a shitty product, well, guess what? Now you're going to show up positive for your drug test. Or an athlete. Or an athlete. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:55:15 What does that research process look like for you guys? Like where does a, where's your distributor or who's growing it and all of the behind the scenes? Yeah. So, uh, so Omax Health, uh, we, we acquire all of our stuff from Belgium. Uh, so it's industrial hemp. Uh, it's verified by the government over there at THC at that 0.3% or less. Uh, it comes, it actually is the fibers, right? So the other key component is it can't come from the flower parts, which is where the traditional, you know,
Starting point is 00:55:41 like marijuana, your THC comes from. So it has to come from the stalks and stems. And what that means is a mass quantity of biomass. So they cut the flowers off, and then they grind the stalks and stems down into these tiny little pellets. Those pellets are shipped over here. Ah, excuse me. And then those are actually reconstituted in the oil, so then we extract the oil from that. And then we do any modification to that oil necessary to ensure that it meets that 0.3% THC. But you should be able to call up a company and say, I need to see your supply chain.
Starting point is 00:56:11 I need to make sure that the C of A's are accurate. I need to make sure that, you know, you're actually selling me what you think, you know, you say you're selling me. Because, you know, again, if you show up here, if you're an athlete, if you're, you know, your job test, it's something you just need to worry about. That is a weird thing. So this has actually come up multiple times in my household of, can you pass a drug test with CBD? If your THC levels are at the legal limits, yeah. So they're only testing for THC in those tests, most of the time or all the time? Correct, yeah.
Starting point is 00:56:42 So CBD is not going to show up positive in a drug test for thc or for marijuana so it's only the thc which is the psychoactive component of the plant that's the thing that gets you high that's the thing that's going to have you showing up at 7 11 at 2 a.m looking for some nachos uh you know that's uh yeah that's the spartan race running a spartan race foraging for mushrooms at mile four. I know they're out here. Is CBD good for the whole family? Like, can kids take it? Yeah, in fact, that appetite. Or should they?
Starting point is 00:57:11 Hold on a second. This actually came up. The wife wants the answer to this. Breastfeeding, good for the kids. Yeah. I would say no. And the only reason that I would say that is that there's nothing in breast milk historically that would say you need that. It's a pretty magical thing on its own.
Starting point is 00:57:30 It is. And I think, you know, if you've got some issues, ADD seems to be pretty prevalent. You know, there seems to be some indication for CBD to attack ADD. Breast milk, DHA, and alpha-GPC. The alpha and omega thing that I invented, that's what you need if you're breastfeeding. Bottom line. Just the fish oils. And that's the Omax Cog Boost product.
Starting point is 00:57:50 We take that. Yeah. Look at that. We're doing it right. Doing it right. So when should you start taking CBD? If it's not for kids, it's not obviously for mothers that are using their baby feeders.
Starting point is 00:58:03 Who should? One should, 18? She's talking about titties. Ultimately. That joke's smashed. Ultimately, they're just baby feeders. Check it out, my mouth's wrong. We're being loud.
Starting point is 00:58:18 That killed me. Talking about titties. Ultimately, they're just baby feeders, right? Like, Mother Nature was like, listen, the dad's not going to do anything, so I'm just going to give you some. For my whole life, they were my favorite things. Now I have a 13-week-old, and my whole opinion of them changes. Because you were fed by them.
Starting point is 00:58:34 Well, you can't touch them anymore. They're now off limits. They're not mine. What? They were for a while. I was renting. Motorboating privileges have been revoked. Yeah, I was renting them.
Starting point is 00:58:44 Yeah, yeah, because they're not., ultimately you don't get food from them. So it goes, you have a 13-week-old. Callie, we're going to have to talk after the podcast. Who is using those baby feeders right now? Yeah, literally probably right now. Yeah, yeah. I heard that in India, when you Google, I want my wife too, and Google auto-populates the responses, the number one response is I want my wife to and Google auto-populates the responses,
Starting point is 00:59:05 the number one response is I want my wife to breastfeed me. No way. 100%. Really? That's what I heard. Yo, I have...
Starting point is 00:59:15 That's like some like Freud, right? That's weird. Yeah, Freud would have an idea with that. Have you ever tried it? Breastfeeding off my wife? No, no, no.
Starting point is 00:59:25 Just the milk. Breastfeeding off my wife? Yeah. Did you try the milk? Have I tasted breast it? Breastfeeding off my wife? No, no, no. Just the milk. Breastfeeding off your wife? Yeah. Did you try the milk? Have I tasted breast milk? Yeah. Yeah, it's really sweet. I haven't.
Starting point is 00:59:31 I literally carried a bag of it down to the kitchen the other day, and I was like, I should try it. And as soon as I put it to my mouth, nature kicked in and was like, don't you dare. Don't do it. And it was really this powerful, no, no, no, no. And I was like, like okay right into the fridge that's not mine my first time was I accidentally added it to coffee
Starting point is 00:59:50 that was the one you know of course at that point you're so tired you're just like yeah and you drink it and I'm like this isn't coconut milk this is not coconut milk you're like I want it fresh baby come over here give you a little pinch You're like, I want it fresh. Baby, come over here.
Starting point is 01:00:07 Give you a little pinch. You know, as this new thing happens, CBD becomes a very, I would say it's becoming more mainstream. Well, the Coca-Cola thing, right? Yeah. But that's because Coca-Cola worldwide, right? They said that the sales of soda are actually going down for the first time ever. Coke's been slinging drugs for a long time. This is a step down on their drug sales.
Starting point is 01:00:33 Sugar's the highest level addictive one that we get. How are they doing this? I feel like if we start infusing over-the-counter products with something like CBD, that opens a can of worms that gets really wild. It does, and this has been one of the biggest issues with the regulatory conversation about this. How do you really look at this and say, we know that it can do some things, whether it's CBD or THC or whatever it is, is this plant has some pretty unique impacts
Starting point is 01:01:12 on our body. So if you deregulate that completely, how does that and all of a sudden now you've got your Diet Coke CBD Plus or Crystal Pepsi with CBD. I actually love, or Crystal Pepsi with CBD. I actually loved that stuff when it came out.
Starting point is 01:01:30 Where then kids and pregnant moms are drinking it because they don't know they're not supposed to. Exactly. So there's so much research that has to be done. I think the thing about the Coke play is that it was a PR. It has to be a PR play. I know this for a couple of reasons, but as we get that much closer to voting on the Farm Bill, the Farm Bill needed a little bit of sentimental support. So now all of a sudden Koch says, hey, we're going to invest in a Canadian company. Now you're going to have a bunch of U.S.-based legislatures saying, oh, hell no, no, that stuff's going to be grown in Kentucky.
Starting point is 01:01:59 So this regulatory ship, I feel, has sailed. Now what we have to do with it, it's we've kind of peddled to metal to get this thing going. Now there's going to be some pullback. What that pullback is going to look like is really in the form of big pharma versus the dietary supplement industry. God, anyone have allergies? No, there's just a bunch of dust.
Starting point is 01:02:18 Stop doing drugs. Dust in your... The whole nasal cavity is filled with mud and dirt right now. That's probably true, yeah. Yeah. So a couple years ago there was a big um there was a big you know kind of legal battle between big pharma and the dietary supplement industry on something called red yeast rice and i don't know if you guys remember this red yeast rice was a product that was just sold as you know something that would actually naturally help lower your cholesterol what they found was is that it
Starting point is 01:02:43 has naturally occurring levazostatin in it. So then the dietary supplement industry started putting that on the supplement facts panel. That's a pharmaceutical product you need for levazostatin, your doctor to write a prescription, but it's naturally occurring, right? So big pharma says, Oh, hell no, that's ours. Dietary supplement says it's naturally occurring. So big pharma sues dietary supplement. And who do you think won that fight, right? I think CBD ultimately is going to go that same route where Big Pharma. Your mom, yes. Pharma's got all the money.
Starting point is 01:03:13 Hashtag your mom. My mom, yeah. I haven't heard of your mom joke like that in a little while. That's my signature hashtag. Hashtag your mom. People are like, what does that mean? And what's the other one? Donkey. Hashtag donkey mode, which was to make fun of beast mode. Oh, wow. That's my signature hashtag. Hashtag your mom. People are like, what does that mean? And what's the other one? Donkey?
Starting point is 01:03:25 Hashtag donkey mode, which was to make fun of beast mode. Oh, donkey mode. Yeah. We were talking about donkey balls earlier. I thought I was for sure you were going to say donkey balls, and then you caught me off guard with donkey mode. Donkey mode, because it was to make fun of beast mode, and I just like donkeys.
Starting point is 01:03:39 Donkeys are cool. Sorry to interrupt you, Evan. No, no, no. People are like, get back to the smart guy. No, no, no. Look, I think donkey mode and donkey balls are a lot more entertaining so basically what I think is going to happen
Starting point is 01:03:52 is Big Pharma is going to take over they're going to say anything that says CBD on it is a pharmaceutical product it's going to have to be prescribed by a doctor I'm not sure I have a dog in this fight either way I think that some oversight needs to happen simply from the standpoint of not everyone should be taking this product. And whether that's just working with a registered dietitian, a naturopathic doctor, or maybe your own physician, ultimately what is going to happen, though, is that's still going to leave the full-spectrum phytocannabinoids open for commercial use. And so now, between now and that ultimate battle royale between big pharma and dietary supplements,
Starting point is 01:04:27 our job in this industry is to educate the average consumer that full-spectrum phytocannabinoids mean CBD. And then ultimately educate them on, do you need this? Is this a product you should be taking? Right now, there's not a lot of diagnostic testing that says, you need this, right? There's not like an ECSs an endocannabinoid support test that can say yes yeah ecs there's nothing that says you're deficient in cbd yeah so a lot of it is just understanding how this is working with people and is it is it uh essential in their daily lives i can say this though and to kind of drive a little bit of the commercial
Starting point is 01:05:01 conversation is if you can't sleep if you you're stressed, if you have appetite problems, right, if you're a binge eater, definitely look at CBD for that. If you chain smoke weed all day long, do you need to take CBD? Very good question. Yeah. Describe chain smoking. Are we just passing joints around all day? Or even once a day.
Starting point is 01:05:26 Just say it's once a day. Okay. We'll back it down a little bit. Yeah. If you smoke weed every day, do you need to take CBD or do you get enough from just smoking weed? No, and I think that's back to that conversation is that a lot of this weed has been bioengineered to not have CBD, which is the natural antagonist to the majority. But what if you're growing your own weed?
Starting point is 01:05:46 That's asking for a guy, I know. The majority of the marijuana that I see is very high in THC and incredibly low in CBD. Yeah. And I mean, like, really, you look back in the 60s, right, you know, kind of when the whole original
Starting point is 01:06:02 weed movement happened, it was like, what was the THC concentration of that? 5%, 10%? Now it's like you're saying that's 30 40 50 what is that doing so if cbd is a natural antagonist to thc i absolutely think it is essential that if you're a major weed smoker and you're getting the good shit you know your purple kush or whatever you know i i don't know kush yeah you't know, but your friend does. Yeah, my friend does. My friend who's dating Martha Stewart. Ah, Snoop Dogg at home.
Starting point is 01:06:33 You know she did Time in the Clink? Yeah. Absolutely. Have you hung out with Snoop Dogg? Is that what just happened just now? No, I have not hung out with Snoop Dogg. I've hung out with Martha Stewart, though. Oh, really?
Starting point is 01:06:44 Close. In Vermont. No, I have not hung out with Snoop Dogg. I've hung out with Martha Stewart, though. Oh, really? I went to a Snoop Dogg concert. Close. You went to a Snoop Dogg concert? In Vermont at this place called the Pickle Barrel. I've heard of that place, actually. Yeah, because it's like the oldest nightclub in Vermont. And the concerts, the names that they bring in, it's like the tiniest place. So it's literally like you're on top of them.
Starting point is 01:07:03 Everyone was smoking the entire time. Nice. It was actually really fun. I used to actually think about that when i was in high school i went and saw the i went and saw the roots and they're just all blazed the entire time yeah and i was like i know this is illegal i know there's cops here how is this happening yeah are they just letting them go because they're creative? Like they have a guitar. Dude, I'm going to date myself a little bit on this one. One of my first concerts.
Starting point is 01:07:31 Are you going to talk about carbo loading? I am going to carbo. It's been a big 48 hours of getting to meet Cali Bundy and hanging out with Evan DeMarco. It's been a beautiful weekend out here in Tahoe. Hashtag donkey mode. Your mom. When are you moving to
Starting point is 01:07:45 San Diego to hang out with us? You know, my brother lived in San Diego for like eight years. I used to go out and visit him all the time. Whale's vagina. That was not the answer we were looking for. Soon. I'll go from being an East Coast Cali to a West Coast Cali. Ooh, Cali and Cali. Because that's what people are
Starting point is 01:08:01 always like, what's your name? And I'm like, whatever. I'll respond to pretty much anything but like Callie. I've been holding off all day to say this just on the podcast. My sister's name is Callie. Is it? Yeah. How does she spell it? C-A-L-L-I.
Starting point is 01:08:13 Okay. And her husband's name is Evan. Spelled E-V-A-N. Really? So funny. Very similar. We got called a couple in REI, which is not true. But I'm named after my. She's not that lucky.
Starting point is 01:08:26 Right. I'm named after my great-grandmother. I don't know what my sister's name is. Yeah. Bad brother. Everyone thinks it's a nickname. I'm like, no, real deal, homie. Where were we?
Starting point is 01:08:35 What were we talking about? We bounced around a little bit. If you're smoking, take CBD. Yes. And when can you start taking CBD? You said you don't really know. You know, again, I think you really have to have a need for it. I interviewed this college student.
Starting point is 01:08:50 She was a college sophomore. But 18, 19? I think 18 is fine. Okay. She was a college sophomore, was having a really hard time with her workload, wasn't sleeping well, took it. You know, that really seemed to have an impact. If you don't have any issues in your life, you don't need to take it. And that's the problem with a lot of dietary supplements. And whether it's CBD or fish oil
Starting point is 01:09:08 or vitamin C, it's like if you don't have a need for it, don't take it. And it always comes back to where are you getting your advice on why you should be taking it. Don't listen to your mailman. Don't listen to your neighbor. Don't listen to your friend. Unless your friend has some serious credentials, look at diagnostic testing, find out what's wrong with you, and then take the appropriate supplementation to address that issue. Don't just take it because otherwise you're just like every other American with really fucking expensive pee because you're spending $200 a month on supplements you don't need. That's what my dad always said.
Starting point is 01:09:36 So we have this ECS. ECS. And endocannabinoid system. There you go. Dude, appreciate that. Dude, this guy. I can pronounce it so well. Endos gets the gold star for the day.
Starting point is 01:09:49 Big day. If you were a person, like we have this system. It's a part of our body. Is it like the equivalent of like we have an immune system? Yeah. Everyone has it. It's like a big deal. And so if we have this thing and we're not smoking weed or we're not supplementing,
Starting point is 01:10:07 then for everyone prior to 10 years ago, how did you feed that system, so to speak? There are some products. So fish oil actually impacts the endocannabinoid system, high concentrates. Cinnamon, cloves, garlic. I mean, there's some interesting things that have an impact on it, not to the level that CBD does. Cinnamon. Tree bark. Cinnamon.
Starting point is 01:10:28 That's my safe word, by the way. So very rarely do I actually get to put that in a conversation. So I'm feeling pretty cool about that. And Callie, don't do that to me ever again. Cinnamon. Cinnamon. Cinnamon. Cinnamon.
Starting point is 01:10:41 We talked about eating tree bark before. Cinnamon is tree bark. Yeah, it is tree bark. So I do eat tree bark then. Yeah. So I still need a bark before. Cinnamon is tree bark. Yeah, it is tree bark. So I do eat tree bark then. Yeah. So I still need a spleen. Full circle. Right?
Starting point is 01:10:49 Yeah. Most cinnamon in the United States is not actually cinnamon, though. Well, you have to get a good cinnamon. Just like good cinnamon. True story. Wow, that was full circle. Right. That was awesome.
Starting point is 01:11:01 Is it possible to go overboard with this stuff? I think so. Or am I just going to sleep forever? No, I think it's very possible to go overboard. And one of the big issues, I think it definitely has a place for a lot of people. We look at cortisol levels. We look at homocysteine. We look at all these things that say that, by and large, many Americans are stressed out.
Starting point is 01:11:21 And we look at their lifestyles, right? It's you wake up in the morning. You pound your coffee. You go sit in a cubicle all day long. You don't work out, you're exposed to way too much blue light. That's the last thing you're checking before you go to bed, the first thing you're checking when you wake up. So we're just constantly amped up. I think that there's a need for this. You can't overdo it.
Starting point is 01:11:38 And I think like any other fat-soluble supplement, I always recommend is like go six weeks on, two weeks off. Six weeks on, two weeks off. Allow your body to like just, you know, reset from it. And again, you know, I make this stuff, I sell it, you know, I'm very proud of the products that we make, but I also don't think you shouldn't be taking something every single day that's a fat soluble. Vitamin C, go for it. It's water soluble. Best case scenario, you're not going to get scurvy. Worst case scenario, you're just going to have expensive pee. It's different with fat-soluble. So we definitely have to make sure that we're cycling on and off on these things.
Starting point is 01:12:08 Why? Well, one of the big things is that it can go rancid in your system, right? So do the fish test. You take a filet of salmon out of the freezer, you put it on your counter, and you go to wait for three weeks and come back. What's it going to smell like? What's it going to do? As much as we optimize the manufacturing, we optimize the manufacturing process,
Starting point is 01:12:25 we concentrate these ups, we do the things that we need to do, that fish well just sitting in your system is eventually going to go rancid if it's not metabolized. So give your body the chance to metabolize it by taking that two week hiatus from it. And that's also kind of geared at the average person, right? I mean, if you're a high performance athlete, and you need that inflammatory response, or response, but you're working working out constantly there's a good chance you're going to metabolize it but i still think it's like you your body needs a break right you know we we have rest days we need supplement free days and so on the oh god so vitamin d being one of the most common fat soluble supplements on the market do you recommend people taking uh six weeks on
Starting point is 01:13:04 two weeks off for vitamin D as well? Absolutely. Yeah. I think any fat soluble, you know, the A's, the E's, the D's, you know, the fish oils. I think just having that two-week process, you know, to cleanse your system, to kind of get it out. One of the things that I do recommend too, and we can talk about this, is during that two weeks is definitely double up on glutathione, right? You know, one of those, the master detoxifier, support your liver in processing some of those things. So you kind of expunge it.
Starting point is 01:13:30 You start over with a fresh, clean slate. And you're going to see that you have a better impact on those supplements that you're taking after you give yourself the couple weeks to, you know, kind of decompress. Do you have to do a full two weeks off? Or what if you did like every other day, like you did a day on and a day off? No, I think because a lot of these, what we know through the testing, that omega-quant testing we talked about last time, which will actually show you how your omega levels are progressing, sometimes you can need three months of pretty consistent dosing.
Starting point is 01:13:58 So I always recommend, like, six weeks on, so you're allowing your body to build up your stores of those and then take the two weeks off. Yeah. On the other end of overdosing on CBD, is there a micro dosing that could be done if somebody just maybe isn't like overstressed, but there's still going to be a lot of health and wellness benefits to just having it in their system? Yeah. And we look at inflammation resolution, right? And we talk a lot about that is resolving inflammation before it becomes chronic and then chronic inflammation becomes disease. So I think that five milligrams is really a solid place, right? And you're going to find out, you know, you go to Omax CBD. Shrugged. Shrugged. And you get that product and you take your, you know, we actually recommend a 10 milligram dosage, but you take a five milligram, which is where I always tell people
Starting point is 01:14:44 to start. Like you might find it's like, oh five milligram, which is where I always tell people to start. Like you might find it's like, oh, my God, I just had the best sleep of my life. And you didn't realize you were stressed. You didn't realize that you needed it. But getting into that REM sleep, allowing your body to really do what it needs to do. We look at environmental toxins. We look at what we're doing to our oceans. We look at all of that. There's going to be a need for this stuff.
Starting point is 01:15:02 We have to support our body, you know, processing all the crap that we're putting in it as a result of just how we live. If you take too much THC, you might find yourself in a fairly uncomfortable position, potentially. But you're probably not going to die. Not probably. You're not going to die.
Starting point is 01:15:17 You just mentioned the word overdose a second ago, Andrew. It's like, are there, with CBD, any similar risks? Like, are you going to potentially get yourself to be in an uncomfortable situation? And or is there an LD50 for CBD where there's a risk of dying in any capacity? Not that we've seen. You know, again, it's like, you know, you look at the Epidiolex product at 1,500 milligrams. I think you would have to take in. We have not seen the upper limits of CBD ingbd ingestion and what any negative side effects of that so i
Starting point is 01:15:46 mean maybe if you took 10 000 milligrams of cbd there might be a problem but more than anything you're probably just going to be really chill for a while so if you took like a whole a whole bottle or whole tincture or whatever you'd probably be just fine absolutely now again that's that's a my opinion the legal disclaimer is, you know, there's going to be other people out there who disagree with me, but everything that I've seen in those, you're not going to have an issue. If you need someone to test the upper limits, we know a guy. All right.
Starting point is 01:16:17 He likes to push the edges. Bloodsow. We're going to give you 50,000 milligrams of this. Sign this waiver first. Yeah. Okay. I'll do it. Man, this is killer. I love having you on the show.
Starting point is 01:16:29 Dude, as always, it's just too much fun with you guys. We need to do this more often. He knows things, doesn't he? Dude, I never had ever heard of you. And then you showed up, and it just crushed. And I'm stoked that we all get to hang out and have this awesome little instagram battle omax health first barbell shrugged and what we found out is is that
Starting point is 01:16:51 we all won the day right you know the three of us you know yeah except for andrew except for andrew's we you know it's a camaraderie thing right right? Yeah. No, I got lost. I turned around and no one was there. I don't know what happened. I was walking. My head was down. Four miles in, we were supposed to look for the mushrooms. Everyone was gone. I went looking for myself.
Starting point is 01:17:17 You bummed a jacket from someone? I did. I did bum a jacket. It was a little chilly. She's a seed hunter. A seed hunter? She's hunting for your seed? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:17:28 Is that what you're getting at here? What is a seed hunter? She is a seed hunter. What does that even mean? Director to Amazon. She is, man, I'm going to butcher this, but her name is Saffron. Is that right? Saffron or Saffron?
Starting point is 01:17:42 Saffra. Saffra. She lives in Connecticut, actually. Does she? Yeah, you'll meet her tonight. Where? Man, now you're really expecting me to remember everything. We need to talk about cog boost.
Starting point is 01:17:57 Cognitive boost. That's the next conversation. Lower expectations. We can definitely do that. Yeah, she is on she's on the Spartan Up podcast but she literally is like they have places that like
Starting point is 01:18:12 store seeds in case all of this goes to shit like all of our environment and then they can go to these seed storage places oh I've seen this they're in like Iceland or something and there's like just a massive amount like the more seeds we can get there, the better
Starting point is 01:18:28 we all are so we can actually have some vegetation, restart an ecosystem and all that. And she's one of these people. Oh, that's awesome. Which also makes you like there's like people that are interested in like having a great environment and then like one rung up on the ladder is
Starting point is 01:18:44 like hippie. And then one rung up on the ladder is like hippie, and then one rung up. She's like 12,000 rungs up on just like your hunting seed. You're preparing for the zombie apocalypse, right? I mean, this isn't like I'm trying to impact change. It's that I know change is coming. She's ready. I'm building the strongest fort.
Starting point is 01:19:03 She's doing it. Yeah, that's cool. That's awesome. We need people like this.. She's doing it. Yeah, that's cool. That's awesome. We need people like this. We do. You guys do a lot of podcasts? Do your ears ever get acclimated to the pressure on them? I don't even notice.
Starting point is 01:19:16 Really? Is it part of my altitude sickness? I don't normally wear sunglasses indoors while I podcast, though. It's a different scenario you have going on over there. You're pushing on your ear from the back. Who are you hiding from? It's damn near dark outside. You still have sunglasses on.
Starting point is 01:19:31 I was in the sun this whole time for the record up until about three minutes ago. You were talking about honesty and you were over there in shades the whole time. We were talking about honesty? We bought a pair of socks the other day that said, no blisters guaranteed. Yeah, marketing.
Starting point is 01:19:48 I got a blister. I got a blister on my big toe. Then they got your $12. You know what? I'm sorry. Did the sock get a blister? The sock didn't get a blister. Was that OMAX Health?
Starting point is 01:19:57 No, this was my fault. I actually had some cream that you could have rubbed on your feet this morning, and I forgot to give it to you. Evan had like chafing cream? Of course he did. That brings up another great question, actually. The ointment and creams of CBD. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:20:11 Oh, let's hammer this, because he has that real thing. Yeah, topicals. It is. Now, here's the interesting thing, and I've got a- Lubrication. Omax Health is coming out with a new topical.
Starting point is 01:20:21 She's so proud of herself. Look at her. She's so proud of herself. Hold on. I said lube on the show. Yeah, I know. She's so proud of herself. Look at her. She's so proud of herself. Hold on. I said lube on the show. Yeah, I know. She can't stop fucking laughing now. We talked about tits and lube in this show.
Starting point is 01:20:32 Callie brought up both of them. Yeah, Callie did bring up both of them. Would you like to be a co-host forever? I'm just trying to cue you in on the things that the audience wants to know about. Can they lube themselves up with CBD oil? Yes. And, in fact, so there's two different things we're going to know about. Can they lube themselves up with CBD oil? Yes. And in fact, so there's two different things we're going to talk about here. The first one, just so that we can play off of Callie,
Starting point is 01:20:51 is a product that I created which is actually a CBD-based lube, which is kind of cool. Have you sent any of that to my house yet? No, but I will. I would love that. Yeah, absolutely. Send me the biggest package. He has it at our house. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:21:05 Like that we're staying at. So if you guys want to come over, we're watching football tomorrow. That was quite the invite we just got there. Did you hear that? Yes, I did. That was very direct. We need to bring the cameraman back to that one. You know what's funny is my wife wanted to know –
Starting point is 01:21:18 Stop chatting. Yeah, my wife wanted to know about breastfeeding and CBD, but this is what she's really going to learn. Yeah. Get after it. So we do have a CBD-based lube, which is awesome. wanted to know about breastfeeding and CBD, but this is what she's really going to learn. Yeah. Get after it. So we do have a CBD-based lube, which is awesome. The second thing about this is that, yes, CBD topical has an impact.
Starting point is 01:21:38 The problem is that most topicals, like anything, they don't really penetrate the skin. So what we've done is we've created this kind of liposomal delivery system for our CBD, which actually penetrates the top layers of skin. So you're actually getting that anti-inflammatory benefit. And of course, you add the other things like the menthol and, you know, kind of those, the Arnica. So you have more of a multi-mode of action topical. But if you're just going topical CBD, no. Research shows that there's not a lot of benefit once you get it past the first couple layers of skin. Absolutely. In fact, the way that my legs are
Starting point is 01:22:08 after running our 13 miles on this one, I'm going to be lubed up like a freaking porn star later on tonight. I love it. I actually have a massage therapist who created her own CBD cream. This is a new thing coming out a lot. CBD massagers.
Starting point is 01:22:23 Yes, and she said that when she was pregnant, her feet were killing her. So she used to use CBD, which Evan said is a no, just for you people out there. But she did, and she would actually rub it on her feet. And she realized it made her feet not hurt. So being a massage therapist, she took the next step and said, I'm going to make a CBD cream. So that's what she did, And that's what she does now. Nice. So, yes,
Starting point is 01:22:48 Omax Health, and obviously that... 4slash shrugged. Yeah, 4slash shrugged. So, next couple weeks, we'll be launching our CBD product, our cream, which is freaking fantastic. Oh, it's just coming out? Yeah, just coming out. Another show. You said cream or lube, or are those
Starting point is 01:23:03 two separate things? You know, the lube or are those two separate things uh you know the lube is not necessarily for the omax audience just yet uh we're still talking a little bit about that why would you need a lube outside of the what everyone's thinking someone get so we do the birds and the bees with anders right now well yeah i get it but we're like why do i need cbd in that you know so really when you talk about engorgement of sexual parts, especially for women, you know, you're improving sensitivity in that area. So, you know, with this particular product, I kind of took some of the existing science and I recognized what CBD can do to a specific cell and specific groups of cells. And, you know, the clitoris really responds to
Starting point is 01:23:40 that. So it became a natural extension of really purifying CBD, blending it with some other things, and then just adding it to a topical lube base. Would you like to tell us about your research? Yeah, I was going to say, let's hear about the research lab on this. You know, here's my thing. I will not launch a product that I will not try myself. That's why you have 100 plus flights this year research research research yeah research omax cbd.com forward slash drug 50 off the first month um free shipping where can people find you besides that awesome website for and fun deal for our for our listeners uh you can find me at at Cali Bundy on Instagram. True. True. Will you come on and give us a testimonial of the OMAX CBD lube?
Starting point is 01:24:31 Sure. Yeah, I haven't tried it yet. On Snapchat. On Snapchat. There you go. It's got to be a video testimonial. You can find me on Instagram, Evan underscore DeMarco. I don't know how much you paid. Life to the Max blog, if you Google that,
Starting point is 01:24:47 you're going to see a lot of the information that I publish. In fact, I've got a book coming out next month, 30 Days to a Better Brain, where we really talk about optimizing brain function in the modern era. And that was written with the incredible Dr. Amy Killen, who we've spoken about, who's also my stem cell therapist, which is something that I would love to chat with you guys about on next version.
Starting point is 01:25:07 We have gut biome to talk about, stem cells to talk about, cognitive boost to talk about. You have lube to talk about. You have implanted yourself into the show. We have to do this all the time now. Like I told Doug today during the race, I was like, listen, Evan's out here with his 25-year-old
Starting point is 01:25:24 cells from his stem cell. I'm double dosing fish oil. So this guy better show up, all right, because that's all I'm working with. Double dosing fish oil. I OD'd. I told a great OD story, overdosing story on fish oils. Did you? You ever been there?
Starting point is 01:25:40 Oh, actually, he told me about it. Terrifying. Hashtag code crap. Crap my pants. Crap my pants. Same day as my roommate. That overdose at the same time. Also?
Starting point is 01:25:47 Yeah. But just for your listeners, since taking Omax fish oil, have you crapped your pants? I have not. Cause and effect, baby. And I don't, yeah, my wife loves the fish oils. Good. That's real life. There's also.
Starting point is 01:26:01 I take them, but she is much more regimented in taking them. And she loves them. Good. There's also no fish burps. Yes. People always ask me that. I've taken a lot of other fish oils, and there is no fish burp. Yes, which is fucking disgusting.
Starting point is 01:26:24 Yeah, which is probably because I was probably taking a cheap version. You are. It's cloudy. When you freeze it, it's cloudy. Yeah, which is probably because I was probably taking a cheap version. I probably wasn't taking. And most importantly. When you freeze it, it's cloudy. But OMAX? Not cloudy. Not cloudy. Try it, guys.
Starting point is 01:26:33 Try it. And make sure you tag us on Instagram. And most importantly. And Evan will send you. What are you going to send him, Evan? If they do the OMAX test on their Instagram and they post it and they tag you. Callie's good at this. Damn. Yeah. What are you going to send them, Evan? If they do the OMAX test on their Instagram and they post it and they tag you. Callie's good at this. Damn.
Starting point is 01:26:48 Yeah. What are you going to give them? You know what? If they do that, we will send out a free trial box of CBD. Ooh. You hear that, guys? You hear that? That's literally like a $150 value.
Starting point is 01:27:03 No, you know, so we actually have these sleeves. So it's rather than a full 30-day supply, it's only a 15-day supply. But we've got, you know, I will send out a 15-day supply of anyone who posts their freezer test to Instagram, tags me, and we will. Tags Omax. And tags Omax. And Callie. And Anders.
Starting point is 01:27:20 And Doug. And Shrug. All of us. Barbell Shrug, Omax Health, Evan DeMarco, Callie. Spartan. Bundy, Spartan Race. Fuck, I'm All of us. Barbell shrug. Omax Health. Evan DeMarco. Cali. Spartan. Bundy. Spartan Race. Fuck, I'm out of people.
Starting point is 01:27:30 The concentric circles of possibilities. And your mom. And my mom. And donkey mode. And donkey mode. And hashtag donkey mode. Can they get a good idea of how it works in 15 days? Absolutely.
Starting point is 01:27:40 You know, the one thing about CBD, unlike fish oil, is you'll know in the first day. Oh, really? Sleep better in the first day, guaranteed. That's actually very true. Because when I started taking it, the first week is when I really noticed how vivid my dreams were. My wife is very excited. She's like the real test. I give her all the information.
Starting point is 01:27:57 She goes and does it. She's very excited to try the CBD. Has your wife ever been a host on this podcast? No. No, no, no, no. She's sampling all the CBD. Has your wife ever been a host on this podcast? No. No, no, no, no. She's sampling all the samples. No. We're going to find out about CBD.
Starting point is 01:28:13 She wrote me a list of questions. Did we answer all of those questions? Literally all of them. She was like, I need to know this, breastfeeding, drug tests. Well, and the beauty is we have a lot of other things to talk about. So if we miss something, then we'll just pick it up on the next time. We're going to go to the Northeast, hang out with Callie. Yeah, we're going to New York.
Starting point is 01:28:33 That's right. We are going to New York. Just come to New York with us. I'm going to meet you guys in Manhattan. Savage. All right. Callie Bundy, where can people find you at, Callie Bundy? On the internets.
Starting point is 01:28:42 Yeah. At Callie Bundy. You know where they can find you? At Girl Throwing Football. They can find me there. They can find me on Instagram, on Facebook, Twitter, all the same,
Starting point is 01:28:51 at Callie Bundy. I feel like we should acknowledge the fact that even though she is an incredible influencer, she's also got a cool app coming out. Oh, yeah. If you want to work out with Callie. Plug it. Yeah, plug it.
Starting point is 01:29:03 Right. And it's kind of like the anti-fitness fitness app. And I mean that for fitness for my world. Like, again, with the whole, like, lame look a certain way and do all these things. Because I feel like fitness people only follow other fitness people, right? So if you're into fitness, you're going to be fit, right? But then there's, like, the real world of people that I know. Like my brother and my, you know, sister-in-law, and they have jobs and kids and all these things.
Starting point is 01:29:28 So it's really designed for people like that. But yeah, I should have the beta version in October. In iTunes? On iTunes. What's going to be on there? It's workouts or meal plans or what type of stuff is on there? Yep, so it's going to be workouts. It's going to be recipes. It's going to be recipes.
Starting point is 01:29:46 There's going to be videos. There's going to be a whole community called hashtag worker bees. Get it? Bundy bees, blah, blah, blah. I even got to pick out my own emojis. So I asked people what they wanted for emojis. They requested my dog. So Moxie, my dog dog your dog has an instagram account
Starting point is 01:30:07 oh yeah yeah because here's what happened i got him and all i was posting was photos of my dog my agent was like yo dog's really cute nobody cares about your dog he's like it's like watching your dog has significantly more followers than me he's like it's like watching ESPN and all of a sudden it turns into Animal Planet. People are like, what am I watching? So they're like, if you want to create an account for him, do it. So I did because I like taking pictures of him. I love it. At my homie Moxie.
Starting point is 01:30:37 My homie Moxie. Doug Larson. I don't have any homies named Moxie. That's the problem. You do now. You do now, Doug. Dude. This made for a good weekend. I just't have any homies named Moxie. That's the problem. You do now. You do now, Doug. Dude, this made for a good weekend. I just got a new homie.
Starting point is 01:30:49 I love that. Moxie. Do you know what Moxie is? Like the word? Like the meaning of it? No. Has anybody ever told you that you have Moxie? It's like your swag.
Starting point is 01:30:58 It's like your mojo. It's your mojo, right? Yeah, your swag. What's the etymology of the word moxie? Google it. I can't tell you guys everything, but it's good. It's been one of my favorite words forever, which is why I named a dog that. I don't have that much space in my brain.
Starting point is 01:31:14 Oh, Evan, please. You're writing a book on how to have a better brain in 30 days. When does the book come out again? Next month. Is there like a date? I think it's the 15th Cool October 15th?

Starting point is 01:31:39 With Dr. Amy Killen and myself And again it's a tee up to a much bigger More comprehensive research study That we've been doing on How to improve brain function with Dr. Amy Killen and myself. And again, it's a tee-up to a much bigger, more comprehensive research study that we've been doing on how to improve brain function.
