Starting point is 00:00:00 All right, Chalk Nation, it's Tuesday, which means it's your favorite day of the week. You get to talk to your boy, Ryan Fish. And this time, I have a partner on the show. Her name is Sarah. You guys may or may not have seen her on social media, on my social media at some point. She is a young little firecracker, and she's really good at social media and keeping the vibes high, keeping the positive energy high. So I have her on the show.
Starting point is 00:00:23 We talk a lot about social media on this one. Everything really about social media. I'm actually so, so excited about how the show came out. I originally was going to do it solo and I had this outline and I was all this stuff I wanted to talk about, but it's hard to talk alone. I'm telling you, it's like really, really hard. So I had a little bit of FOMO of not talking to myself. So I decided to bring her onto the show. We have some really good banter on the show. There is a bunch of good jokes in there. And there's a bunch of insane, insane, insane content, not only from my point of view, but from her point of view as well, because she's like 10 years older than I am. So the world is different. Oh, she's 10 years younger than I am. Sorry, she just yelled at me.
Starting point is 00:01:00 So there's a lot going on 10 years younger than there is at my ripe age of 32. So you're going to hear it from both sides. It's going to be the best thing you've ever heard in a long time. I swear when this is over, your social media game is going to go up 20%. And simultaneously, you're just going to be a 20% better human being. And then you're just adding 20% to the world. Now the whole world just went from 100 to 120. All because you listened to my show. God damn, I am really, really fucking good at this stuff. All right, moving on. Sun
Starting point is 00:01:31 Lighten Saunas. They are the sponsor for this show. Why? Because Sun Lighten Saunas decrease mortality rate, which means death, by 40%. What does that mean, Ryan? That seems absolutely ridiculous. Well, it kind of seems like it is. But for all the shit that's in the world that could potentially kill you, you're going to decrease that by 40% by spending 15 minutes a day in a sauna, an infrared sauna, to be exact. So these infrared saunas are just freaking swiping the world and freaking everybody's all about it and it's just insane why am i saying freaking i say fuck all the time and i'm saying freaking right now makes no no absolutely no sense at all i gotta be myself and i'm gonna say fuck this thing is fucking out of control i have one in my garage right now a five person sauna no joke and my
Starting point is 00:02:19 garage is big enough for six people so it means that five people are in the sauna as soon as you walk in. Take that in for a second. Get that image. Be in there with the sauna, with me, living your best life because you're in a sauna and you're with me. So it's your best life. We're already 20% ahead of the game, right? 120% added to the world. You're 20% a better human. None of us are wearing clothes in the sauna. You're automatically another 20% better. The girl on this show, she's never worn clothes in her life, so she's in the sauna with you. Now we're all together. All right. Okay. Okay. Okay. I'm just going to leave it there. However, these saunas, not only that, they are increasing better sleep, better relaxation, detoxification, weight loss, if that's your thing, relief from sore muscles, relief from joint pain, from arthritis. When you're 32, you get that shit. Sarah does not have that because she's young, and then you get old, and you get arthritis. It's not good. Clear and tighter skin,
Starting point is 00:03:15 which 20-year-old people have, and 32 do not. I'm not saggy yet, and I probably won't be because of this sauna, but I'm going to keep using this sauna just in case. Because it's giving me improved circulation, which is absolutely 100% needed. Improved circulation is going to increase your recovery rate when you guys work out. Increased blood flow just makes you look sexier. You get veins all over the place.
Starting point is 00:03:38 It's just fucking veins are dope. I remember when I was young and I started working out, I was like, I just want veins everywhere. In my face, in my kneecaps. I just want veins coming out of my fucking nostrils. Anyway, you can have all of that with a sauna. Anyway, the reason that these are getting so big on the real tip, honestly, is because you're getting these shock proteins.
Starting point is 00:04:00 And the shock proteins really come out because your body is in shock that you are in a very aggressive environment so it doesn't really know if you're on a camel just walking through the desert and checking out these pyramids in giza or if you're in this little fancy gym in la and you're just living the living your best life with your naked friends in there and adding 20 to the world right these are all things that could be happening if you try one of these saunas out and you don't have to necessarily go out and buy one right now. You can go try one somewhere.
Starting point is 00:04:27 They're everywhere. They're typically like, I don't know, probably like $40 a session, I think, to go hang out in one. But you can get like a one-person one for your house for, you know, it's really not that expensive at all. I want to say like $1,000. It's actually not that bad. And you can charge your friends to come over, you know. Hey, you want to come over and go in a sauna and just give me like 20 bucks or something like that? Help chime in on it.
Starting point is 00:04:50 You can have roommates. They all chip in on it. You can put it on Craigslist. Have people come in. They're going in it for $10, $15. Before you know it, you're an entrepreneur. And you're just getting another 20% better at life. Damn, I'm really, really, really, really good at this.
Starting point is 00:05:05 Anyway, the way that these infrared saunas work is you're getting the heat from the light. So the light is coming down instead of you actually being extremely, extremely hot in the sauna. So they are a lot more comfortable than regular saunas. So that is one thing that does make it a lot better. And because of all these little effects that you're getting from the sauna, it is creating a very good anti-inflammatory effect for your body. It's almost like taking fish oil. It's almost like taking some of your best supplements. And these things are just absolutely insane. So as far as the saunas go, there's a deal for the Shrugged Collective people
Starting point is 00:05:37 and the people who listen to Real Chalk, and it's Shrugged Collective, capital S-H g e d capital c o l l e c t i v e shrug collective you don't know how to spell shrug collective and you follow this show boy we need to talk anyway if you put that code in you're gonna get 200 off you're gonna get free shipping and you're just living the dream you're gonna increase your blood flow by 40%. That's real. That's a real fact. I did not just make that up. Swear. All real. The 20% thing, that was opinion. I really hope that you get that 20% in your life. And by having me in your life, it's already a 20% plus. Anyway, Strong Collective, $200 off, and you get free shipping. Can you imagine how much money it would cost to ship a freaking sauna? I watched two people pull up. Their only job in life was to give me my sauna. I'm so ridiculous, but it was free for these two people to do this for me free. So you're
Starting point is 00:06:39 going to get free shipping. You're gonna get $200 off and you're going to be living the dream, your best life in a sauna. And you might even be in my garage. All right. So without further ado, we are going to get into this show. It is absolutely insane. It's so good. I'm so fired up for you and I'm so excited. And I love you guys listening to my show. I just clapped my hands really loud, but you can't hear it. Here we go. So excited for you guys. All right, guys, here we go. So we're going to be hitting the topic of social media today, not only just social media, but like how to improve your social media, what's going on in social media that is making things lucrative for people nowadays. So to talk about how lucrative things are getting with social media and to actually give you guys insight on what's happening and how it's changing
Starting point is 00:07:30 the fitness industry in general, I brought Sarah Strauss onto the show. Say hello. Hey, guys. So Sarah's with us on the show. Sarah is 20, almost 21. Five more days. Five more days we have and she'll be 21. So the reason it's good to have her on here is because at 20 years old, she's already created a career for herself in social media, which is completely not doable when I was 20. Not only because Instagram did not exist, but because Instagram did not exist.
Starting point is 00:08:00 I started my Instagram account when I was 15 and I got my first job working at a gym when I was 15 and it kind of happened simultaneously. Yeah. So like when I was 15, we had MySpace. We didn't even have Facebook yet. Do you remember, do you even know MySpace is middle school? Okay. So like we had MySpace, you couldn't monetize off of MySpace. Then we had Facebook. You couldn't, I mean, people were doing Facebook ads near the end of Facebook when Instagram started. But nobody was really doing – nobody was making money on Facebook yet. And then Instagram started. And I remember the day that I actually started my Instagram.
Starting point is 00:08:37 And it was my – two of my friends who have more followers than I do right now obviously because they've been on it longer. They were like, Ryan, you have to have one. You have to have one. And I was like, oh my God, I already have Facebook. I have MySpace. I have all these things. This is annoying. And man, I really wish I had it then. And this is a topic of conversation that I really want to get into right now, especially for you guys out there who are gym owners or small business owners. You can't make it anymore without it. I mean, you could, but like someone like you for instance let's
Starting point is 00:09:07 say you want to go to crossfit chalk what's the first thing you're going to do i'm going to search it on instagram i'm going to look at the people who go to the gym are you going to google it are you going to search i'm going to search it i'm going to search the location first and then i'm going to pick the best looking posts and look at the people who go to that gym. Wow. Always. So I didn't even ask. I already did that when I met you. Oh yeah. Cause I remember you were actually going to come up to my gym. Yeah. So you're like, all right, let me creep on this dude real quick and his gym. A hundred percent. And whatever. Right. Okay. So I think I looked at CrossFit Chalk before I looked at your profile. Cool. Yeah. So I actually, every once in a while, for those of you out there who
Starting point is 00:09:42 follow me on Instagram or you follow the gym on Instagram so I'll see somebody like like my post or something and I'll for further for the gym actually because I run both Instagram so I'll go on the gym I'll see someone like my story and just for the hell of it every once in a while like a photo sorry I'll click on it I'll find the name I'll see the name I'll see that they follow the gym and then I'll be like I wonder if they follow me so I'll go into my on my Instagram. I'll see the name. I'll see that they follow the gym. And then I'll be like, I wonder if they follow me. So I'll go into my, on my Instagram and I'll see if that person pops up and they don't, not all the time, at least sometimes they do. But I'm like, wow, there's people out there that are just following the gym. Yeah. And there's people that are out there that just follow me and don't follow the gym. So it just shows how important it is for
Starting point is 00:10:23 your business. Because for me, I'm selling online programming that is not really from me. It's from the gym. I mean, it is from me. They're both one in the same, but I'm marketing two different products. Yeah. The thing that's hard. So actually when I moved to San Diego, I hooked up with this boxing gym and I was teaching some like cross, cross training classes, like boxing, kickboxing. And they asked me to help them take over their social media like help them grow their social media because that's what I did but when you're an individual person like you're Ryan Fisher and I am my brand is fit and dedicated so we are our own brand like people know you for you and then you have chalk fitness and that is
Starting point is 00:11:02 technically a separate band but people put you two together. And the hardest thing about marketing a gym is that you have to know who your ideal client is. For Chalk, there's a lot of people who are athletes and want to become extreme athletes. And that's when you come to my place. And that's when you come to your place. But for the gym that I was working at, it was a boxing, MMA, Brazilian jujitsu, kickboxing. It was all these different things and they couldn't like find their niche. They couldn't like bring it down to one ideal client. And so it was all over their place. Their marketing was pretty awful.
Starting point is 00:11:34 Like I won't say the name of the gym and the owner didn't want to give up his personal part of the Instagram account to put it into the business. And so I ended up not wanting to work with them anymore. Even though they were offering me money, there was a good like setup there, but it wasn't really worth it because when you have a business, you have to figure out your personal branding for your business versus yourself and then focus in on your ideal person, your ideal client, the person who you want to reach with your Instagram. Yeah. So that's really important. And I really want to get into that and how to market for your business. Right. So right now I looked through, I did a bunch of research through sprout social Forbes magazine, people
Starting point is 00:12:14 magazine. I have a bunch of friends who own different agencies and such. So there is a percent right now that's accurate. It's 52% of small business owners are posting on social media on a daily basis, 52%. So that other 48% is losing out big time. I can't even tell you how many gym owners I have who hit me up. They want to buy my affiliate programming for their gym to help their gym. And I'll be like, all right. And they're like, well, what other tips do you have for like getting new members and stuff? Cause I'm known as one of the guys who has the most members like around the world. So I'm like, well, dude, well, what are you doing on your social media? And they'll say like, I don't do social media. And I'm like, mind blown. Like in Newport beach where I live in
Starting point is 00:12:58 California, the median age, like, so like if you're going to open a gym or you're even going to open a business, it is in your best interest to go online and look up the demographics of that region. So in my region in Newport Beach, which happens to be one of the richest places on the planet, like the average – if you're that rich, you're probably a little bit older. Like my average demographic is probably 35. But if my average demographic is 25 and they're like you the first thing you did was look on instagram you didn't even look on google so if you're someone out there who owns a gym or you own a business and your your median demographic is like 20 to 25 you don't have social media you might as well as fucking shoot yourself yeah especially in like san diego or like pacific beach
Starting point is 00:13:42 area or in a college town san die. San Diego is way younger than here. Yeah. You need to be using social media marketing and affiliate marketing like with influencers because that's the only way that you can grow now. Like people don't use commercials. Like nobody listens to the radio when you have Spotify. This just doesn't work anymore. That's insane, right?
Starting point is 00:14:01 That's a really, really good analogy. Well fucking played. So when it comes to content now, right, and influencers in general. So influencers, they have micro-influencers and they have macro-influencers. So studies have shown right now, and we talked about this before the show, the micro-influencers are people who have between 1,000 and 90,000 followers. These people, ladies and gentlemen, have a 60% higher turnover rate on ads and marketing and such than people with a million followers. Fact. I've already looked up the percentages on this, and it's fucking for real. They have 60% with higher engagement than people with a million followers because the way that social media is and with engagements and stuff through Facebook, the previous algorithms caused organic reaches recently to drop by more than 50%.
Starting point is 00:14:56 So we talked about this a few times on the show, but there used to be this thing called the popular page, which no longer exists. Now it's the explore page. So you'd be on there if – like let's say Sarah was on there doing a pull-up, and they were zooming in on her butt, which happens all the time on her Instagram. Let's say that video went on that popular page. She could get 100,000 followers that day. But now it's explore. So it's only the people who follow her and and so forth and it's like a special algorithm where only they can see it so now she might get 10 000 likes on
Starting point is 00:15:30 that but she has 150 000 followers so that's still such a small percentage of her people so for her to reach the other 140 000 people that she has 100 whatever your thing is but like those still 100 000 people left that haven't seen it. That is when marketing comes into play. Yeah. And if you want to sell something, that's when marketing comes into play as well. Because the way that the algorithms work is they're throwing everything down. Yeah. Another thing, like you said, about micro influencers, I 100% believe the reason that micro influencers make such a big impact engagement-wise is because they engage back.
Starting point is 00:16:07 So someone like me and you, we are on our stories. We're showing our lifestyles. And it builds trust with our audience because we truly believe in what we're doing. And generally, with micro-influencers versus celebrities with 3 million followers, we're actually commenting back to people. We're building relationships. And we're showing the people who follow our lives and follow our stories that we are providing a service and a value.
Starting point is 00:16:29 And then when that marketing comes into play, when we're doing swipe ups on our stories, when we're sharing like, hey, we made this new guide, like we're sharing all these workouts, people are going to trust that we know our shit. And we write back. Yes. I can't, like, honestly, if I had a million followers tomorrow, I would not be as engaging at all. No, no way. I'd look at my DMS and I'd be like, fuck my life. And I just wouldn't do anything. Yeah, it's too much. Like it's just gnarly. Yeah. And it wouldn't be fair to the
Starting point is 00:16:54 people who are buying our products. Because obviously, we put time and effort into creating these guides and ebooks and whatever. But we wouldn't be able to service them as well or reply to their messages or help them when they need it. Because we wouldn't be able to service them as well or reply to their messages or help them when they need it because we would just be overwhelmed with millions and millions. Well, I listened to Andy Vercela's podcast, Who Owns First Form? And I don't listen to his podcast very often, but I just saw a title and it was about basically the whole social media space and how it's changing and all these things. And he was saying the biggest checks he writes to his influencers are people that have between like 100 and 200,000 followers. And he's like, I have people who have millions. I'm telling you right now, they don't make as much money as the people who make between 100 and 200,000 followers.
Starting point is 00:17:36 And I 100% trust that to be true because of what I've been able to do recently with my own Instagram and the amount of money I've been able to do recently with my own Instagram and the amount of money I've been able to leverage each month has been absolutely outrageous. And I know people that have a million followers that are friends of mine. I actually have a friend who has 5 million followers. And I know that I make more on a monthly basis than that person does just because of my engagement, like my, I don't know what you'd call it, the connection that I have to my people. I was going to say, you have a lot. So there's a thing about respect in this industry that people don't really think about too much because a lot of the times you are seeing models on the explore
Starting point is 00:18:15 page. You're seeing people who have a million followers and they're beautiful, but do you respect them? Because you don't know them. Like you, you don't know them. Like if you watch our stories, if you watch your YouTube videos, you get to know you really quickly and really well and it makes a really big difference. I would be way more likely to buy your product than buy something from Kim Kardashian because everyone's like,
Starting point is 00:18:35 she has a fake butt, but she's pretty, so I'm going to follow her. But you have put in the time. You've put in the effort. She does sell stuff though like a motherfucker. Okay, well, way to take my point. I don't understand why.
Starting point is 00:18:46 Okay. But I wouldn't. In the fitness space anyway. Like in the fitness space, people are learning that you have to earn their respect. Like all this shit going down with Brittany Dawn, which we definitely don't have to get into on here. I actually don't know. You don't know? What is this?
Starting point is 00:18:59 Okay. So she was basically – I don't know if we can – Who's Brittany Dawn? So she was a fitness coach. She was selling programs. She was selling like personalized programs. I'm putting that in air quotes because they came out later. They were not personalized.
Starting point is 00:19:10 People were having a lot of issues. She was not replying to comments. She was not replying to messages. She was blocking people instead of refunding them. She was doing a lot of really unethical stuff. There's a whole bunch of this on YouTube. Basically, what went down is this guy, Castle Cassidy Campbell made a YouTube video where he pretended to be someone's dad who got scammed,
Starting point is 00:19:35 went up to her at a fitness expo and basically like blew her shit up. And it's all on YouTube. She like super fucked now. Oh, so fucked. Oh wow. No one's going to trust her. Like, but it kind of took a bad name to like the fitness influencer space because she had almost a million followers. She definitely doesn't anymore. But this was very recent. This is also why the Shreds company ended. Do you know? Really?
Starting point is 00:19:52 I don't know the story of Shreds. So for those of you – like I dated this girl Nikki. She was part of Shreds. And I actually – this is part of why I'm actually having this show right now. So when I dated Nikki, Nikki was part of this whole Shreds thing. Like Paige Hathaway was there, Joey Swall, this kid Devin Fizik. There's a bunch of huge influencers, millions and millions of followers, and they never had a product in store. They were just selling like legitimately millions and like up to like tens to hundreds of millions of dollars worth of product just through social media and they
Starting point is 00:20:25 were the first brand to really do it they were like shreds was literally like the first like instagram supplement brand that was solely sold off of instagram and this guy was about to create like a billion dollar company and everything was going well and these kids were just like starting to make their own thing. They were doing nutrition challenges. They were doing this. They were doing that. And around this time, I started dating Nikki.
Starting point is 00:20:52 She walked into my gym one day and I just saw this beautiful girl and I was like, oh, wow, let me take you out and show you around. And then that's how he does. One thing led to another and then she was living with me. So at that time, I remember being invited to like some of these dinners. And I'd go hang out with everybody. And I'd meet the guy who created Shreds. And then I would meet some other guy who was an influencer.
Starting point is 00:21:14 And these people were driving up in Lamborghinis and all this stuff. And they were like 25 years old. And I remember just thinking to myself, what the fuck? Like, what the fuck? Like, I was, like, screaming at myself inside. I'm like, how? How? Like, this guy doesn't know anything.
Starting point is 00:21:37 He's probably just on a bunch of steroids and just working out and looks good, which 1,000% still does not take away from his work ethic. Like, you can't just take steroids and all of a sudden you're just fucking look like Superman. I'm fully aware for those of you out there who take steroids and you want to like yell me right now. But either way, like it just wasn't an educated person. Like he didn't have the path that I had. He didn't like grind his whole fucking life like so fucking gnarly like, 10, 20 years like I did, this kid was way
Starting point is 00:22:07 younger, he's driving a Lamborghini, he's buying, like, two million dollar house, it's, like, all this ridiculous stuff, and I'm just, like, opening my gym, and, like, working my balls off, and, like, three to four thousand dollars is a lot of money, so all I could do at the time was just, like, be part of everything, just, like, anytime Nikki wanted to go somewhere anytime uh I had a chance to meet up with these people I'd go and I'd listen to conversations and I'd be like super intensely listening to everything and I started to figure out like what was going on and like how they were doing it but I didn't have enough followers to pull it off I just like I had like I don't 20,000 or 30,000 followers at the time. And I was like, holy crap.
Starting point is 00:22:50 I want to do what they're doing, but they have a million followers. I can't really do it. But I started building and building and building. And then there was a moment where I was pretty tight enough in the circle where I felt comfortable to ask somebody how much money they were making. Because I saw all the cars and all the crazy shit and I was like, well, if you don't mind, how much money are you making?
Starting point is 00:23:15 And they were like, I mean like $40,000 to $50,000 a month. And I was like, $40,000 to $50,000 in a month? Oh my God, if they could see my face right now. I literally was like, what the fuck? Oh God. What the fuck?
Starting point is 00:23:30 I remember just being like, oh my God. That is ridiculous. I had never even heard anything like that. That's more than doctors. It's more than anyone ever. I'm thinking about it in terms of like, okay, so like a $2 million house is like an $8 million mortgage or maybe $10,000 mortgage. And a Lamborghini is like $2,000 a month. And this motherfucker still has like $40,000 left over to like – or $30,000 left over to just like literally just make it rain.
Starting point is 00:24:02 You know what I mean? Like that's so – That's insane. So much money. Think of all the bougie coffee we could have. leftover to just like literally just make it rain you know what i mean like that's so insane so much money think of all the bougie coffee we could have so so i'm literally just thinking like this is this is when this just exploded in my mind and i was like i need to do whatever i have to do to make this work because i love fitness and i want to do this for as long as i can and i want to push out the knowledge that i have because i know that it's better than a lot of these other people. And I, I have my degree and I have a gym and I have all
Starting point is 00:24:29 these things and I want to be respected on that level. So I started to create better content. And like, that was like the number one thing everyone said was create better content, create better content, give value, give value. And then Gary Vee came out and he's like, give, give, give, give, give, give, give, ask, give, give, give, give, give, give, give, give, give, give, give. And then all of a sudden just ask. And then everybody will love you enough or they'll, or they'll buy it. So this is like when my mind exploded and I started to realize social media was a real thing and that you can make a lot of money from it. So that aside is that was like a year ago no this is like two years ago this is like three years ago okay maybe and that's when you started putting effort into
Starting point is 00:25:09 i have to think of term in terms of girlfriends two oh my god ryan how many this is like you're showing your man horse side right now this is like it's probably two and a half years ago maybe two and a half i think it's two and a half gotta go down the alphabet of names it's like three it's like two and a half to three it doesn't Two and a half. I think it's two and a half. Got to go down the alphabet of names. It's like three. It's like two and a half to three. It doesn't matter. Could we go by hair color? It's definitely not more than.
Starting point is 00:25:29 They were both blonde. So you're blonde. Were they short? No. My last girlfriend was six foot tall. No way. And I'm five five. I'm five.
Starting point is 00:25:42 She was a big girl. Two. One and three quarters. She was a babe though. Good for quarters. She was a babe though. Good for her. Anyway. Congrats on your babeness. So this is like two and a half to three years ago at max, right?
Starting point is 00:25:53 At that time, the one kid on the team, Devin, he screwed over someone who was working for him. So basically this girl was doing all of his emails. She was doing all of his nutrition challenges. She was writing all of his nutrition templates and all this stuff. And one day he was like, fuck you. I'm not paying you. Or like I guess she wanted a bonus or she needed more money or he said he was going to pay her something and he didn't. And she got really mad and was like, you know what?
Starting point is 00:26:21 Fuck this guy. So she had access to all his stuff, like everything, right? Oh, shit. So she just went onto YouTube and was like, I'm fucking Devin Fizik, not him. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I do everything, blah, blah, blah. He doesn't even pick winners for his challenges. He doesn't care.
Starting point is 00:26:36 All these things happened. And then because he was part of the Shreds brand, it just fucking took a nosedive. Yeah, interesting. I've heard of Shreds. And then Paige was part of it. And this guy, Joey Swole, who has a couple million followers, shreds brand it just fucking took a nosedive yeah interesting i've heard of shreds and then page was part of a part of it and this guy joey swole who has a couple million followers he's hanging out with like dan bulzarian right now he's like he's huge so like all these people that made shreds what it is like influencer wise they just bailed they're like i don't want to be part
Starting point is 00:26:58 of this so they they bailed yeah and then all the smaller ones um like nikki like the girl i was dating she basically got fired like everybody was getting fired basically and they were making like a hundred thousand dollars a year like not really doing anything it's kind of hard to replicate that job again oh yeah no way so um all of this happened and the whole thing just like went down and then it's crazy because people like page and everybody created their own brand out of it and became even more successful yes so i think that's like the best thing. The silver lining on everything is always good.
Starting point is 00:27:28 Yeah. I mean you don't know my stories too much but like I had some gnarly shit happen to me. And then every time something gnarly would happen, something amazing would happen. Yeah. Because it creates a work ethic that doesn't exist. Yeah. Because something so bad happens that you have to like, you have to 10 X who you are as a person. Yeah. It's not 10 X in your business. You're 10 X in you.
Starting point is 00:27:51 Yeah. And I mean, that's what I was going to say too. Like the people who are most passionate about what they're doing are not doing it just for the money that comes later. Yeah. And you can tell when you build a personal brand, it has to be based off of your own beliefs. Otherwise, you'll never have the work ethic to get shit done and make it happen for yourself. So this gets into people being fake and people choosing the right people to follow. So this is what pisses me off all day long. And I wish that this podcast reached a billion people instead of 100,000 at a time. If you put my butt
Starting point is 00:28:25 on the screen thing we can probably get a little bit closer god i love having girls on the show that like i mean i could potentially just talk like just just the filthiest things but hopefully we'll get there at some point on this podcast but check it out so we should have hit record record. Okay, go. So basically there is a giant amount of fake stuff out there. And the way that you guys can sift through all this just terrible, awful fakeness is if you guys could just go to the story and watch them on their story. Stop looking at posts. Posts don't matter. Yeah. Because the post is a highlight reel of life yeah and it's a highlight moment of the day and it's a highlight angle an hour of minute of everything everything it's like it is literally the sun coming down from fucking the
Starting point is 00:29:16 heavens and just makes this one incredible moment and this chick is super fucking hot and the fan is coming back and she's sweating and fucking dumping a bottle of water. It's ridiculous. It's ridiculous, right? I've done that so many times. It's like post workout, the best pump in the whole world. The guy's like fluffed himself and his white shorts and his big mushroom heads just sitting there. And like, it's like always the best photo of all time. All right. But you can also tell by the way that people talk in their stories, because if you own your own business, if you're creating a work, especially in the fitness space, cause we're talking about fitness here.
Starting point is 00:29:48 If you're creating a workout program, like if you are a personal trainer, like I was a personal trainer for LA fitness. Now I'm a personal trainer and a coach for myself, but you have to be confident in what you're sharing with your coaching clients or with your followers. You have to know what you're talking about. Otherwise you just sound like an idiot. Well, there's a reason that a lot of these people don't have a podcast yeah because they can't talk i should have a podcast there's a there's a reason why these
Starting point is 00:30:11 people don't have a youtube yeah there's a reason if you're following somebody who doesn't have all these channels but they're like a pretty big person it's not that hard for them to create another channel to create another revenue stream but they can't because if people see who they really are, they're fucked. Yeah. So you guys, if you really like somebody and you really respect somebody, I highly recommend that you look at their stories. You look at their YouTube, you look at a little bit longer form of content that's more natural than just a photo or just a post or even like a 15 second video. And a really, really easy and quick way is just to see if they'll respond to your message, respond to a comment, like something and quick way is just to see if they'll respond to your message,
Starting point is 00:30:45 respond to a comment, like something real quick. You know, like you can tell if people have genuine like thoughts, feelings and knowledge if they'll take like 30 seconds to reply to you. You know, it's not too hard. So now I've figured out that people are making up certain amounts of money on social media. I'm a business owner and I realized that it's very important to have social media for my business. I'm starting to realize that social media is potentially the future of a lot of things, especially in my space. Now I start to think about what is it like to be like 10, 15 years younger than myself, which happens to be sitting a foot away from me. It's like, in my mind, I'm thinking, do people, are people in school and they're like, man, I can't wait to get out of school and become a nurse that makes like 70, $80,000 a year. Like,
Starting point is 00:31:37 man. And before you say anything yet, like, just like, let me finish this. It's, it's, it's like, I remember being in school and being like, okay, if I make a hundred thousand dollars a year, I'm fucking stacked, like greatest accomplishment of all time. Right. One. And two, I'm like, you know, that's like more than enough money for anything. And like all these things. And then I started thinking about different jobs. And I have friends right now who are, you who are obviously my age and they're firemen. They're police officers. I have friends who are doctors, all these crazy things. And I'll hear about how much money they're making and I'm like, fuck, I figured out a way to make that in like a quarter of the time.
Starting point is 00:32:20 Like I can make most people's year in like a month yeah if if you do it correctly if you understand social media so i would like everyone to kind of figure out what works for them yeah i completely agree and so it's not about like our personal personal um what'd you call it personal brand it's not about our personal opinions on what they should be doing but we're gonna try to hit that for all of you guys out there right now. If you're like, okay, I'm in right now. I love this conversation. I love where it's going. I want to get better on social media. Okay. We're going to start right now and try to help you out. And we're going to, we're going to, you're going to listen to it on my, on my end. And you're going to listen to it from someone who's 20 years old. So you're, she's 12 years younger than I am. So a decade, 11, 11. Oh yeah. Cause you're she's 12 years younger than i am so a decade 11 11 oh yeah because you're five days
Starting point is 00:33:06 five days to 21 baby um yeah let me just add like one little little things add as many so i'm not i'm not making crazy amounts of money like i'll be completely honest like but you're figuring out how now yeah yeah so my social media figuring it out way before yes so i started my instagram when I was 15. Like there was absolutely no business mind. There was nothing. There was no – like I was just working in a gym. I was sharing my workouts.
Starting point is 00:33:31 I was sharing my like meals. I was learning about macros and I got a coach. And I was just sharing my life. And then when I went to college, I was studying human health sciences. So I was actually going for pre-med. Like I did ride-alongs with EMTs. I was really interested in the medical field. So I was actually going for pre-med. Like I did ride alongs with EMTs. I was really interested in the medical field. And it was the same thing as you. I was like, okay, if I can be a doctor and I can make a hundred thousand dollars a year,
Starting point is 00:33:52 I'll be set for fucking life. Like I'll be good. My mom's a doctor. Like I can do this. I can work hard. I have the work ethic. So I moved across the country and I started working for GNC. I worked as a personal trainer. I got my personal training certification at 18. So I'm working as a personal trainer for LA Fitness. I worked split shifts every day. I went to school full time. It was hell. Like I worked so much. And then I started working another side job. I was doing supplement demos at GNC and working for GNC. It was insane. Like my schedule was crazy, but I did it. And then I started loving personal training. And my Instagram started growing.
Starting point is 00:34:28 And I became a micro-influencer, so to say. Still didn't have a business. This was about like just a little over a year ago. And I was personal training. And I had a couple girls ask me online like, hey, will you train me online? Like I like your physique. I like your work ethic. Like give me a workout plan. And I was like, shoot, I do workout plans all day,
Starting point is 00:34:48 every day. Hell yeah. And, um, so I started doing it online and then I came out to California, fucking loved it. I started getting a couple more coaching clients. I had maybe eight altogether and I was like, screw it. Like I'm going to apply to the university of San Diego. See if I get into this like a pre-med program ended up getting in. And I was like, screw it. Like I'm going to apply to the university of San Diego. See if I get into this like a pre-med program ended up getting in. And I was like, screw it. I'm going to work as hard as I can for these next four months of school. And I'm going to move there. And that's what I did. I worked really hard. I worked three jobs and I said, screw it. I'm moving to San Diego and drove out here. Once I got here, I decided not to go back to school. So I ended up deferring from my – when I got into University of San Diego, I ended up deferring.
Starting point is 00:35:29 And why is that? Because I started making money. And my Instagram grew. And it grew very organically. Like I had probably – What was the change that you made? Oh, I was so happy. No, what was the change that you made though to get more followers?
Starting point is 00:35:43 I was posting really good content. So I was posting every single day. I was sharing, sharing, sharing, giving, giving, giving. Yeah. But what was the difference though? Was it a better photo? Was it a better angle? Was it better? Just, was it just different types of videos? Yeah, it was different types of videos. So I started posting swipe videos, like workout videos. Those do really well for growth. So they might not get as many likes, so to say, as some other things. But for interactions, engagement, people save workout videos if they like the way you look and they like the way you post your workout videos. Obviously, lighting and angles are a huge part of it.
Starting point is 00:36:16 I generally work out at an outdoor gym, which makes a really big difference in my quality. Also, I have to say, whenever I go to LA and I work out at Gold's Gym, the Mecca, those workouts insanely well every time just from tagging like Gold's Gym, hashtagging Gold's Gym Venice or whatever. So yes, I take the time now to really post quality content, but I also share a ton of free value. So when I post a workout, I post the entire workout. I post the rest periods. I post the reps, everything. And a lot of people won't do that because they want you to buy their whole program. But I'm like, if you like my workouts and you try them, then you'll buy the program. Cause that's what I would do. And so now that's what I continue to do. I post as much
Starting point is 00:37:02 valuable content as I can. I share as much about my life on my story, about my travels, what I want to do, like what I intend to do with my page and people follow it. You know, they follow me like as a human being, not just like my brand or the products I'm releasing. Yeah. But yeah, that's kind of like a very short version of my story. So, I mean, I love that. and i think that people can i mean this girl literally this all just happened just how it just happened so literally grew my instagram somehow when i went on that fitness cruise ryan ryan and i met after but we were both on this the wad on the waves you guys heard me talk about it before yeah the wad on the waves fitness cruise
Starting point is 00:37:39 i went from i hit 100k on the cruise i was at like 90k a week before yeah and then now I'm at like 135 or something random like crazy for no reason it took me forever to hit 100 and when I hit 100 I had 150 like yeah super quick and now I've been frozen at like I've literally been frozen at 147 for like two months it's ridiculous but Instagram algorithm really screws with you but when you have good engagement like we get because we interact so much and we engage with our followers and we actually care about what we're doing well I got that shadow block thing so you gotta mix up your
Starting point is 00:38:12 freaking hashtags you have to change your hashtags every post yeah I was just like copying pasting hashtags that I had saved and then this happened like this shadow what is it called shadow band shadow band so like if you look up your Instagram and you click on one of the hashtags that you just used and then you don't show up in the photo in that hashtag it means that like instagram doesn't like you anymore so
Starting point is 00:38:33 you're getting fucked on your on your engagement and i didn't realize that was a real thing just but like for for like a month or two i was like man my following is stuck i'm getting like way less likes my photo this makes no sense at all. So I started looking on, on, on Google, like trying to figure out what was happening. And I found this shadow ban thing and I was like, man, this sucks. So what I had to do is I actually had to stop posting for like a week. I posted nothing for a week. Like my people must've been so sad. I was doing stories, but that's it. I was actually crying every single day. So, um, yeah, now I'm like back to normal now my photos are getting like normal likes and such but i haven't used a hashtag now because i'm terrified you haven't used one
Starting point is 00:39:10 hashtag not yet oh my god let me do it for you i'll make your hashtags for you i'll post your hashtags on your photos i might need these younger people to help me out guys um preferably like younger blonde girls um moving on so in the instagram world i think we can both agree that um transparency is what wins wins the race oh so there's a lot of fake people out there that are making it work for them and we just told you how to find out who they are but coming from somebody who has spent thousands of dollars on on potentially tens yeah i've definitely spent tens of thousands of dollars on um on content oh yeah people like colton and you guys have seen me like travel to like these snowboarding destinations and i have the sickest videos i mean trust me i'm a talented human but
Starting point is 00:39:56 i'm not that talented to make those colton is yeah colton is so um he's made all these crazy videos for me he's giving me crazy photos they get great engagement i'm not complaining everything is is great um but there are highlights there are highlights for sure but even like when i put them on youtube i i have so i just started youtube for those of you who know and i'm sure you do you guys follow pretty much all my followers are really loyal and they they listen to like all my things. So, on my YouTube,
Starting point is 00:40:27 they all cost me the same amount of money for this guy Colton to make them for me. Every single one costs X amount of dollars. I've traveled all over the world and done the coolest shit and those videos
Starting point is 00:40:37 will get between five and 10,000 views. I've done what I've been doing forever and just went in the gym and worked out and talked about what I'm doing. And I hit 70,000 views on that video.
Starting point is 00:40:51 So granted, it was in a production style, but it was me and it was my transparent self. And that absolutely massacred. And then on my Instagram, and you're welcome to look at Sarah's or mine and go through our photos and like the natural, like she's talking about working out in gold's gym and just doing little swipes. Like iPhone quality, nothing crazy. Yeah. iPhone quality crushing. Yep. Then you get like this dope photo. She's like standing in front of a waterfall and like everything's perfect. She's like naked. And then there's like a guy in the background and he's perfect and there's a fan and she's like naked and then there's like a guy in the background and he's naked
Starting point is 00:41:26 and everyone's naked and all of a sudden it's on Playboy and everything and it's like a thousand likes. Because it's staged. Yeah. And I just left
Starting point is 00:41:33 that weird awkward silence because I took my pants off. I was thinking about all the naked people and I got really distracted. You haven't looked down yet. I have no pants on. I know.
Starting point is 00:41:40 I'm making very severe eye contact right now. Severe eye contact. No, but people do want to see. I had this one post that went viral. And it was literally, I was going to cut it because I was working out and I tripped. And I made a caption out of it. And I was like, hey, even fitness models fuck up.
Starting point is 00:42:00 It's totally fine. That post got like 10,000 likes. It was a workout video. Crushed it. And it's like people that post one got like 10 000 likes it was a workout video crushed it right and it's like people want to see everyone was commenting they were like oh my god i did the craziest thing at the gym like i walked into a barbell and like and i'm like dude me too like the amount of bruises i have from fucking up every single muscle up i've ever tried to do like it's ryan's rolling his eyes at me right now i can't even talk about that we don't talk
Starting point is 00:42:21 about muscle ups here um so so what's happening here is you guys are listening to this and you're like, okay, I agree. I agree. I agree. Okay, Ryan and this girl are making money. That's why they have dope photos. That's why blah, blah, blah, blah. And it's like, no, we're telling you right now that transparency wins because your iPhone that you 100% have that is no better than my iPhone. We were both using the same phone is doing better than my $5,000 camera with the person that cost me like a hundred dollars every 10 minutes to fucking film it. So like, yes, I use stuff like that because it's good. It's good content to have and whether people like it or not, it looks good. It looks good. And it makes me feel, makes me feel better. I like the, the, the professionalism of it. And I'm sure it gets pretty good better. I like the professionalism of it.
Starting point is 00:43:08 And I'm sure it gets pretty good engagement. So like once you get over 10,000 followers on your Instagram, Instagram gives you this thing. You can look at your analytics. And I'm getting like millions of impressions all the time. But the photo might not be getting the most amount of likes. So people are still seeing it. It is what it is. But when you get more likes, you get on the Explore page more. You get more love. That thing lives a little bit longer like the thing that sucks about all these things
Starting point is 00:43:28 that we're doing right now on instagram is because it really only lives for 24 hours it's on your page but like you get a new person who looks at your page and they look at all your they look at a couple posts and like all right she's hot or he's fucking cool or whatever and then they and they follow you so that's the thing about having those professional photos. Cause like I was going to say, sometimes they don't do it. They definitely don't do as well as like workout videos. But in the moment, yeah, in the moment. But when people go back to your page and they see that professionalism, they see that you're
Starting point is 00:43:56 putting time and effort into your content. It pays off over time for sure. And if you're building a brand that matters. Yeah, definitely. So that's what I was getting with that. Perfect. Killed it. So, um, I was getting with that. Perfect. Killed it. So yeah, you have that going on.
Starting point is 00:44:09 But this should be encouragement for you right now so that you feel like you can do the same thing. Because you absolutely 100% can. And not only that, like I had a friend. Actually, I had her on the podcast. I'm not going to bring her up right now, but like name-wise. But I'll never forget when this person had 10,000 followers and we were having a conversation about how she was making $40,000 a month. This is someone with 10,000 followers, guys. Like you don't understand the way that you can monetize your social media.
Starting point is 00:44:44 That is so much money. Yes. Oh my God. To me, that's so much money. Yeah, for sure. That's crazy. So I remember just thinking like, oh my God, like this micro thing is real. Like you guys don't understand.
Starting point is 00:44:59 Like you have the ability to connect with these people if you so choose to do it in the right way and we're telling you how to do it right now like answer your dms be genuine give content that is valuable to people all the time post every single you don't have to be an encyclopedia and be a fucking nerd alert all the time like i wake up sometimes and my hair is fucked up and like i okay don't lie that's every day i mean i love that little poof thing in the front see this is this is this is what i'm getting at you look like a cockatoo oh we're gonna delete that out so um we don't edit we're trying i know we don't edit we're transparent here yeah that's why i'm not wearing any clothes so um basically Casper the ghost though
Starting point is 00:45:46 it's transparent get it what are you looking at right now when you say transparent I'm making eye contact every single time that we're talking you're looking in between my legs this entire time that's embarrassing get back on topic what are you doing right now I'm trying to be normal we're podcasting and you're touching my leg okay moving on okay guys i'm sorry i'm sorry so what happened what were we talking about i got cockatoos okay listen so i i'll come into my kitchen i look super fucked up i just woke up blah blah blah and i'm not giving like i'm not like okay i'm gonna eat 27 grams of protein and six grams of carbs and one gram of fat and blah blah blah because i'm looking to do this to my body and blah blah blah people don't care What I'll do is I'll just pop it up and
Starting point is 00:46:28 I'll be like, Hey guys, here's my breakfast. Here's my supplement routine. Um, I hope you guys just, you know, I know, I know, I know a lot of you guys like really are interested in this. So here you go. And I'll just take a picture of my food. I'll take a picture of my supplements or I'll do a little video and something like that is incredibly valuable because this person has been looking up to you for so long, or maybe they're a new follower and they look at your physique and they love the way it looks and they just want to know what your daily routine is. So something as simple as that is incredibly valuable to that person because now they're like, oh, I can do that. And I'm just like that. I wake up and I look like a fucking retard too. You know what I mean? So like, it's's like stuff like that it doesn't have to be this insane content all the time that
Starting point is 00:47:11 you're like oh my god like that's amazing like you know what i mean like and then you can just even your workout and even if you didn't write out your workout like sarah's talking about like all the sets all the rest all this or that what if you just videoed it? Yeah. Like on live. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Which is my next topic. So do you have anything to add to that? No, I think that's 100% right. I think people need to optimize their stories the best they can because like Ryan said,
Starting point is 00:47:36 if you're trying to figure out if someone's fake, if you want to figure out if someone's transparent, if you want to hire someone as like I am a coach. So I work personally with 25 to 28 girls. Like I don't go over that, but, um, if you're a coach and you want to hire someone to personally work with you, like getting a guide or something is a little bit different, but you need to know who this person is. You need to know their qualifications. Like I'm not going to bullshit you. There's a lot of coaches out there who say they're qualified, don't have experience, never trained in a gym. So many people forget being a coach. Now they're qualified, don't have experience, never trained in a gym. So many people forget being a
Starting point is 00:48:05 coach. Now they're what? Oh, oh, oh, yeah. Business courses. Yeah. Now they're creating business courses. You're not you haven't even made it. You haven't even made it far enough as a trainer and like like a year in like literally a year in like a human being. Like I would not. First of all, I would never want to be a business coach but i would not even say i would never want to give someone advice because i have no idea where i'll be in a year or two years or five years like i'm just getting started and people who are my age in my position who are just getting started themselves are creating and selling these courses with no one-on-one for like a thousand dollars oh more than that even like like ty lopez is like the
Starting point is 00:48:44 king of this. He's like the guy who sells like, I don't know, it's like $5,000 program, tells you how to kill it on social media, says it'll make you between $1,000 and $10,000 per client, blah, blah, blah. The information you're getting is literally as good as this podcast. Actually, this podcast is by and better. Nothing is as good as figuring it out yourself. I swear to God.
Starting point is 00:49:05 Correct. People will DM me and say, how do I do what you do? All the time. I'm like, I'm speechless. I can't respond to that. I have no, I'm like. I'll do a video. I don't say anything.
Starting point is 00:49:16 I don't even know what to say. I'll just be like, dude. Go to school. Get your certification. Get experience. Go live your life. Just go live. Just go be alive.
Starting point is 00:49:23 Go outside. Look at the sun work out and walk like learn learn how to lift a weight and put it back on the ground yeah do a lot of like normal things so and just figure out like just get a fucking job figure out your life homie um all right so okay that was a rant now we are getting into other forms of content. So we just hit a whole bunch of things, how you should be transparent and all that. The best way of being transparent is doing live video. So even a video that you upload can actually be edited.
Starting point is 00:49:59 It can be a little bit staged. But when you do a live video, that is you through and through. Can't change it. Can't edit it. Nothing, right? And Forbes magazine and some of these other sources that I reached out to, research is showing right now that 80%, 80% of the audience on social media would prefer a live video versus anything else. I'm going to go live right now. 80% go for it. 80% of people. So if you're marketing on social media right now, you're doing marketing on social media and you want to have the best turnover possible, you're going to want to create some live content. Yeah. And it builds trust with people too, because you're communicating the entire time you're responding back to them. People see that you're a real person and that you're creating real value for them.
Starting point is 00:50:52 And it makes a really big difference for your audience. If they can know that what they're getting from you is not something that's always planned or always fake and the stage photos and what we do when we do create that really cool content and like have a videographer that like will be amplified by going on a live video and answering these questions. And now Instagram has this really cool like question feature where you actually are able to like have those questions up the entire time that you're on a live. So people can ask questions in advance and like you as the content creator can look over everything and understand like what you're going to be providing. And then you can share that value. And if you are trying to run a business, the best thing you can do is share free
Starting point is 00:51:33 value on social media. Wait, you can. Yeah. Look, hold on. You can put questions up. You can. So if you ask the question feature, people can do it in advance and then you can. Okay. So we're looking at her phone right now. She's on live right i have to turn around the camera though and there's a question feature okay so yeah so you know how you can ask the question feature on instagram so you can actually do that in advance of a live session like if you know you're going live later you can say like hey what kind of questions you want me to answer on the live and then you can pull it up while you're on a live video and you can answer them even after it's over yes oh cool yeah so i'm on live right now and if any of you guys have questions about growing your social media you can just pop them
Starting point is 00:52:12 in here and we'll talk about it and then if you even if you answer it later they're still gonna get it they're still gonna get the question oh wow that's so you can answer them on your story or on the live video so i just learned something new just now as well yeah so all right so now we have 88 of our people are preferring this live over yeah just regular whether it's stories or whether it's youtube i mean you actually you can do live youtubes as well really yeah you actually can we're both learning even on facebook you can as well too i've done facebook lives multiple times so there has been a gnarly decrease in Facebook. So like 40% of people that are doing social media have actually deleted the Facebook app completely. Yeah. I
Starting point is 00:52:53 actually did for a long time. I don't even have the messenger app. Yeah. So people are deleting it. 40% of people right now on social media are deleting it. And 20% of them are like just not even using it really at all yeah however if you want to have good ad and good marketing you have to have both okay because facebook owns instagram and you have to run an ad through facebook for it to work on instagram okay or you have to make a photo you have to do a photo on instagram and share it for your ad team to actually be able to tell us how facebook ads work because i have never purchased an ad on Facebook or Instagram, but Ryan is telling me as a content creator and as someone who uses Instagram to build my business and grow trust with my following,
Starting point is 00:53:36 I need to be on Facebook using that as a resource to build up my brand and I've never done it. So you definitely want to reach out to people who are better at this. Yeah. Like as good as you are on Instagram, you want someone who is that good at, yeah, at marketing. But remember, I also just started monetizing from my Instagram about seven months ago. Okay. So the, this whole aspect is for the team, but they basically, they go on your analytics, they check out who your demographic is, kind of like as if I was going to open a gym in an area, say I was going to come into San Diego and open a gym down the street from you. I would check out the demographic. So I'll go on your phone and I'll check out your analytics. It's, you know, X percent women, X percent men. They're
Starting point is 00:54:17 this age. They're in this part of the country. They figure out all these things and they hit those people. Yeah. So it's not just hitting the people who already follow you it's hitting those like let's say your average person is 25 they live in the united states uh their income is like x yeah they are they they happen to like these certain things because on you on facebook they they they tell you like all of your things that you like and all these things. And it takes all that into account and it just starts hitting those people. So not only are you going to get people buying your stuff who wouldn't normally buy your stuff.
Starting point is 00:54:56 Yeah. They don't follow you or anything. So you're getting actually new followers from it. You're getting people buying your products who never even knew you existed yeah you're getting like all this crazy crazy crazy promotions for yourself right it's amazing but there's people out there who aren't that good at it and they spend a lot of your money and they're getting like like a two to one return which is still pretty good say you put ten thousand dollars and you get twenty thousand dollars back not bad yeah but let's say you put $10,000 and you get $20,000 back. Not bad. Yeah. But let's say you
Starting point is 00:55:25 put in $10,000 and get a hundred thousand dollars. Yeah. So my, I mean, my only thing with the Facebook, that's someone who's really good. That's a, that's a 10 to one, which I've had before. So I think my biggest apprehension is like, I, I was pretty naive when I first like moved out here and I, I did hire a business coach and I had a really bad experience and I felt like I don't want people to do right now on the show. My money. Yes. And I did that because you know hire a business coach and I had a really bad experience and I felt like I kind of got scammed out of my money. Yes. And I did that because you know what?
Starting point is 00:55:48 Like I am like 21 and I'm learning these things as I go. But the best organic marketing, the best I've ever had with money wise, I've done all on my own and I've really just stayed true to what I have. And I feel like with Facebook ads, you're just doing you like you're doing the same. I'm doing the same things I've always done, but you're just kind of opening it up to bigger audience. That's what I was telling you about. Cause you were like, when did you start making money? And I was like, well, I was always doing the same thing. Yeah. And I've had people run ads for me before that was nothing like the people I run ads for me now. So it's, it's like finding a fitness coach. It's like finding your fucking husband, your house that you want, your car that you want.
Starting point is 00:56:27 It's like, it takes, you got to test drive a few. Yeah. Literally. Yeah. So I'm about, I mean, so you have to, you have to, um, you have to really be testing everything out. You have to be looking for like, if, if, if if if you i mean let me just say real quick as i'm stumbling on my words here like owning my gym i get phone calls at least once
Starting point is 00:56:52 a week about people who want to run ads for me or emails or i get it too all the time i just ignore them all yeah so i probably would too because a lot of these people say they want to like screen write all your emails do your your email list, email marketing, Facebook marketing. So all of that, these people need clients because they're not that good at it. So like the way that I got mine was through like friends of a friend and like these are people who didn't need clients. And I'm asking if I can work – if I can have them work for me. Those are the people that you want. And that's what I do with my coaching clients.
Starting point is 00:57:27 They actually have to apply and get on a phone call with me and tell me that they're going to freaking work for their goals if I make them a plan. If someone randomly comes out of nowhere and says, I'm going to be able to do this and this and this for you, it's probably not going to work out. So that is like insanely important. So now we're still on this live topic, right? So the reason that 80% of people are preferring this live feed stuff is because it's still only up for 24 hours on social media, right? You just made a live video just now. It's up for 24 hours. People see that and they're like, shit, I have to see it because it's going to be gone tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:58:03 FOMO, fear of missing out and for some reason whenever i do a live video it boosts my engagement for everything else for 24 hours especially if you my dms are up like everyone's if you talk about your last post that helps a lot i'll put stuff in my story i'm like oh check out my last post like my worst story ever is twice the the amount of likes oh same it's twice the amount of views as like my best like really yeah you're like 20 000 views on yeah on the reg damn yeah well my i mean my story posts or my stories definitely get like a lot higher engagement than my photos but like i feel like i'm able to refer to my captions and my photos and my content with more value sometimes. I almost want to look right now and just see what I have.
Starting point is 00:58:49 That's kind of crazy though to think about it. Like now – yeah, I do too. So I just like started and I have like 12,000 views on them. So by the time tomorrow hits, it will have 20,000. So my views – That's so crazy. So for me, like that's making a huge difference on my story. It's making a massive difference for people that are contacting, connecting with me.
Starting point is 00:59:11 So this brings up the, like the argument with posting. So it's like, all right. So he's saying that we need to do more live video. The reason I'm telling you to do more live video is not only because it helps me, but I did a lot of research before I did this podcast. This wasn't just me sitting down with Sarah and be like, all right, we're going to talk about this. Like I showed Sarah like my little outline, these little things that I want to go over. And I did a bunch of research to tell you guys and make sure that it's a fact. So the fact of the matter is, is that 80% of people are preferring live video. So now I'm here to tell you why. And in my experience, I made a video last night of me working out doing lunges for fucking two minutes, like literally nothing. It was the end of my workout. I was like, I'm just gonna make a live video real
Starting point is 00:59:54 quick. It's a Saturday night. People are out probably drinking, doing dumb shit. And I'm in here just grinding. So I think it could be motivational for somebody. Why not? Two minutes, two minutes of my time. No big deal. I set it up. I kept working out. Took zero effort. 20,000 views. I wake up the next morning.
Starting point is 01:00:12 Ten people bought my program. It's insane. You know what I mean? It's like they're like, oh, he lives what – he's like living exactly what he's talking about. He's like doing like that. That is his life. And it definitely is. And I want you guys to know that i'm fucking grinding all the
Starting point is 01:00:25 goddamn time it's also really cool i'll just say like the more that i've been around people who are as passionate and dedicated as i am and showing that like being around you like i don't want to be like hey i'm in it for the clout but like being around my friend shannon being around sarah being around you being around colton like people who love what they do just as much as I love what I do, that passion shows through on both sides. You know, like we bounce off each other's energy well because we're both very driven in this industry. And there's not, I mean, there's a lot of people who are very driven with fitness and, but it's hard to connect with those people and find those relationships in person because we're intense and it's true. And Ryan is more intense than anybody I've ever met. I will say like he is the most driven and dedicated person I've ever
Starting point is 01:01:09 working out with. And I'm not just saying that to like boost your ego right now. I'm saying that because it's a fucking fact. And when I met you, I figured that out really quickly. And it took me a while to gain your respect as an athlete and as a fellow trainer, because yeah, I'm young. I haven't been in this industry as long, but I will put in the work and grind. And that's what more people need to do if they want to get to this level i've always been like that like i have a switch that's like all right it's time to go like if we decide to work if we jesus for those of you out there my mom's talked to everyone i your mom loves you everybody loves my mom i love your mom maybe more than you yeah Yeah. Anyway. So the whole live video thing, you guys got to do it. It's crazy.
Starting point is 01:01:49 Like it's crazy. And I challenge you to do a live video soon if you're a gym owner in your gym and just kind of see how many people watch that video and see how many average likes you have on your average photo, how many average views you have on your average video, and see how good that live video does. There's a lot of people that are going to chime in. They're going to check that out. If you have good energy in your gym, it's a good opportunity right now to turn that live feed on, on that class, even if you're not crushing it all day, but that one class is killing it.
Starting point is 01:02:17 People are going to see it. If they've been debating going to your gym recently, they go to another gym nearby. They're going to see the energy. They're going to see the vibe and they're going to want to go. Yeah. And also like, I know some people are nervous about getting on live video too. Like Ryan said, we have an outline for this podcast. Like we just talk because we can, but there is an outline. We wanted to provide some good value for you today. And so if you want to share good, valuable information, like about your gym or about your business or the services you provide, write out a little outline, like scrabble it in a notebook. Like as long as you have something to refer to, you'll probably
Starting point is 01:02:49 feel more confident going into it. Yeah, for sure. So now we've, we've hit, we've hit a lot of stuff right now. Um, so the next thing I want to talk about is probably just like other things that you guys can do to start monetizing on your Instagram. So hitting ads is one of them. And the reason that you guys hit the ads is because you only have X amount of following. So they say that really only 20% of the world right now is on social media. 20. That's crazy. So I have friends right now who are in the other 80 so when i say other 80 they're they're on the internet they use something for internet but they're not on social media or they're looking in magazines or newspapers or billboards or this or that or whatever that's the
Starting point is 01:03:39 other 80 so these people are making ads and they have to spend about, and I just had a huge meeting with some people that have a ridiculous space nearby. Their rent is probably $100,000 a month for this office. But they said their average turnover to get one client to buy something might cost them about 70 bucks through all the different funnels and all the different things. So that person better buy like $200 worth of shit. If you're on social media, you're in that smaller 20% bracket, the more niche you are, like the more niche you are, I cannot fucking stress that enough.
Starting point is 01:04:23 People are going to be looking for specifically that, especially on social media. And the amount of money that you have to spend to get them to buy something is significantly less. If I could just spell that out, it would be like a block long, the word significantly less. It also helps you get better results as a business owner. If you're in the fitness world, you want people to get the results they want. You want them to feel confident and healthy and happy and strong. And if you're a fucking – if you have one leg and you squat 500 pounds, there's people out there who have one leg that want to find you squatting 500 pounds. Yeah, 100%.
Starting point is 01:04:57 So fucking hashtag one leg 500 pounds. Whatever you're good at, use it. Yes. Use it. So that's huge i mean i've literally spent single digits of thousands of dollars like four digit numbers and made like six digit numbers off of off of a four digit number so like it's that's not available in the other 80 of the world but that's why social media is the way it is the biggest question when it comes to social media is like which avenue do i go full force in do i go full force in youtube do
Starting point is 01:05:26 i go full force in instagram is it facebook is it whatsapp is it linkedin which by the way people are saying linkedin in 2019 is going to be the hottest thing there is i don't even have linkedin i don't have it either we should do that today it's fucking terrifying i have another social media source i do you even have someone's snap stick a shotgun i don't have i can't do snapchat i can't either there's just too much i'm already on my instagram story all the time once instagram story came out i was like what is the point the fact that it's still alive is killing me and people are like but the video only lasts for like 10 seconds it does that on i annoyed the shit out of you sending you those instagram videos yet i still did it yeah they go
Starting point is 01:06:04 away too. Yeah, I just don't get it. I don't understand the Snapchat. Hopefully it goes away soon so it gets rid of one more thing. I still need to use Facebook. I don't use Facebook. Personally, if I had to guess, on my end, being alive 12 years longer than the person next to me right now.
Starting point is 01:06:21 11. 11. Sorry. She rolled her eyes at me eyes you're making me so um i love the they're rolling the eyes emoji by the way on the phone total side note but like it's the greatest i'll send it to you every day all right i'm gonna wake up to a morning text just rolling your eyes um what was i gonna talk about you ruined it it was the most awkward silence yeah damn it why are you screwing everything up okay so um
Starting point is 01:06:49 i i personally think that youtube will be the longest standing piece of social media that we have i'm not saying instagram will go away i'm not saying facebook will go away i'm not saying that anything will go away i think that they might turn into something. And I do think that there is, I've noticed the people who have a really big following. I creepily, just like I did when I was dating that girl and I was watching all these people at Shreds making all this crazy money and blah, blah, blah. I creep on people a little bit on social media and kind of see how many views they have and what they're doing. And I try to figure out exactly what the next thing is because I feel like some people get a little bit ahead of the curve. And I have noticed that the really popular people are crushing it on Instagram TV.
Starting point is 01:07:33 I was literally just about to say that. I was going to say Instagram. Not everybody. Instagram like five months ago or whatever when IGTV came out. I hated it. I haven't used it. And I hated it. I hated it.
Starting point is 01:07:43 And now I'm like instagram i think instagram video like stories ig tv ig lives are going to take over because it shows who you really are as a person yeah but you can do the same thing on youtube okay yes but youtube is a whole nother thing like like we're saying oh yeah i would love to have apps there's so many platforms everybody wants to make it easier for sure instagram can take over the it is taking over the freaking but what i don't understand is like crazy you have someone like steve cook yeah right so he's the person that i creep on on his instagram lives i don't i don't watch it i just like look to see how many views he has so he's got like 500 000 views on an instagram on an igtv which is crazy
Starting point is 01:08:21 to me that's nuts yeah i think he's actually getting better turnover than he does on his YouTube and he has a million subscribers on YouTube. Damn. So this is the stuff I creep on. Yeah. This stuff is like, I like to geek out. No, that's crazy. I like to geek out on this stuff.
Starting point is 01:08:33 So like, I'm like, wow. So if he's getting 500,000 views, the only problem is he's not getting paid for that. There's no ads. There's no. Yeah. There's a lot of stuff missing that you need to that youtube has yeah that's true who's to say anybody needs more money depending on who they are and how much money they're making though you know what i mean but like that's my mind
Starting point is 01:08:54 naive mindset for me right now though i'm like well why would i do that when i could do youtube yeah and monetize but it could bring more value to my page than when I want to sell a product. Boom. Yep. But when you get bigger into this thing, I would say like right now I'm having a problem. Like once a week someone tries to hack into my Instagram and I could wake up. Yeah. I could wake up one day and not have an Instagram.
Starting point is 01:09:19 Yeah. That's a reality. That happened to me. My Instagram was actually held hostage by Russian hackers and they wanted like $1, thousand dollars which i would have paid but it would have been pointless because they wouldn't have given it back yeah and thankfully i have a connection who works at instagram who was able to fix it for me but i had to create a separate email account make a completely random new password put two-factor authentication on like twice like it's crazy it's crazy so that is fucking terrifying to wake up one day not have that that my my team that i have that works for me they're like ryan keep doing
Starting point is 01:09:52 youtube keep doing facebook keep doing all these things because you never know like you just you just never know you never do but also i've had people reach out to me and send me messages on instagram and i'm like um it'll be a new person they're like hey I'm a new follower and blah blah blah and whenever they say like hey I'm a new follower I absolutely love that because when they do say that which is it's usually rare I'll be like oh hey how did you find me I'm just interested and someone said to me one time oh I found you on YouTube like I saw you riding around on this like weird hoverboard, the one wheel that I ride. I love that thing. It's so fun. We should ride it after this. Um, so I'm like, Oh my God, you found me on YouTube. So like, that's another thing. Like you could be finding people
Starting point is 01:10:34 through different social media streams as well and grabbing new audience. It's so funny because I had some people because you reposted or we posted that edit of us working out and I had people from Facebook say that they just found my app coaching application through my website. Everyone finds me through Instagram. This is what I'm saying. Like literally, but they found you through my page. Maybe they found you through your video on your Facebook page so randomly. And for me, I'm very particular about who I coach. So I always get on a phone call and I like, it's not an interview, coach so i always get on a phone call and i like it's not an interview but i talk to them for about 30 minutes and figure out if they're going
Starting point is 01:11:09 to have the work ethic that i want them to have and that's why finding like connecting with ryan connecting with other people on the same level like with that drive with that passion for fitness it helps you niche down niche niche i hate the word it's terrible just say whatever you want and then we're gonna we're gonna pretend that it was niche okay i can't even hate the word it's terrible just say whatever you want and then we're gonna we're gonna pretend that it was niche okay i can't even say it anymore it's gone in my head um but yeah being around other people on that same level it brings in the same audience which helps you get like for me it's like i say my like ideal client but for you it would be people to come into your gym and be on that same energy level, fit into your community, people who are on that wavelength.
Starting point is 01:11:45 That's what you want. And you can run ads on YouTube. And so like everything has an ad. Like you guys don't understand like a lot of these big people are spending a lot of money on ads. So like I have documented here that one out of every four Facebook pages, one out of four, is using ads. Yeah, no, I don't doubt it.
Starting point is 01:12:11 One out of every four accounts on Facebook is using ads. That's crazy. That's fucking nuts. Do you know how much money Facebook is making? It's crazy. It's insane. It's crazy.
Starting point is 01:12:20 So one out of every four is using ads. Did you know, and this is just for pure entertainment for you guys right now. I'm about to fuck you up with some truth right now. Are you ready? Story time is the best time. Story time is the best time. So this is not a myth and it was confirmed with me actually last night.
Starting point is 01:12:40 So the ad campaigns right now that are out are so strong and so smart and getting so ridiculous that they are actually recording your text messages and your actual conversations. so when you're on your facebook next time or you're on your computer or you're on your phone and you're searching for things to buy or whatever you might come across something that you never actually searched it was something that you texted to a friend or you said to a friend like hey like did you see that new louis vuitton purse or Or did you see those new Nike fucking training shoes or whatever? And you might see that pop up as something that you might want to buy. It's fucking crazy. Completely off of – it's called social listening. That is what's happening.
Starting point is 01:13:35 So like this podcast is not going to be it. But if we were talking on the phone right now, me and Sarah, we're talking – we just say we just did this whole podcast with each other. Some of these things could be picked up, and then we can go on our Facebook later today or our Instagram, or we could be on Google, and that little thing on the side, those little shoes will pop up completely off of the phone. That's crazy. So it was interesting last night. I was at my friend Jerome's house, which you made a comment about. He has a ridiculous house, by the way.
Starting point is 01:14:03 And his son, who's like 15,'s like i don't know it's so weird because we were talking about ads and stuff and he's like yeah it's so weird like i had only used uber one time in my life and i like i just used it like yesterday and i was on my computer and it was it was up on my computer as an ad. That's crazy. He had never Google searched Uber. Yeah. He had never, like, his mom texted him and said, get an Uber. And then he downloaded the app, didn't look it up online,
Starting point is 01:14:35 downloaded the app, got an Uber. We were at the house yesterday and he's like, this is so weird because I have an Uber ad on my phone. That's so weird. It's fucking nuts. But that's how good marketing is right now and that's how good ads are right now if there was anything you took away from this podcast right now you're like damn like i just got dropped with some serious knowledge it's that marketing is so powerful that even your fucking words are being creeped on yeah on the reg so you have to use social media
Starting point is 01:15:02 to do it you can't take out a newspaper ad you can't go on the radio anymore you can't even go on TV because people want to hear it from people that they trust so to say so like your favorite influencer and I say influencer I just mean people on social media I don't mean anything by the word influencer
Starting point is 01:15:17 it just means people who put their lives on social media I think you can create a positive influence or a negative influence whatever but people want to hear it from people that they know and that they can relate to every single day. And I think that's a really, really, really important part of this is that when you're looking at people on the Explore page, when you're finding people through hashtags, those
Starting point is 01:15:38 people are probably getting paid to post some things. They're probably getting paid to do sponsored posts. Like most people are, I'm not going to lie. Like I've been offered so many sponsorships and random things just for my following. And you have to kind of build that trust with the people that you're following. Like Ryan said, we have to figure out if they're able to be transparent. Like if you see every other post is like posting about a different product. Like if you look on my page, you won't see any products. Like you really won't.
Starting point is 01:16:05 There's absolutely nothing there. And most people who are truly transparent and like stay true to their own brand aren't going to be doing like a ton of paid promotional posts. And I won't say I've never done them because there are products that I absolutely love and I have worked with.
Starting point is 01:16:20 But 98.9% of the time I'm staying true to myself and my personal brand and when I ever use a product it's something I truly believe in and you have to be able to know I totally ranted about this no it's totally good but like on your story
Starting point is 01:16:34 you should see people using the same products every single day like I only work with a company if I actually have used their products for weeks on end before I ever post about it I have only one time sold out and it was when I worked for bang.
Starting point is 01:16:46 So bang energy like sponsored me and, but banks are great. Yeah. I love caffeine. They're definitely not. Give me all the caffeine. I mean, they're awful for you.
Starting point is 01:16:56 They're awful for you. And it terrified me. It terrified me at one point, like when one of the cases was broken and it smelled like rotten cheese. I was like, God, like whatever's in this is not good. It's literally just artificial sweeteners and caffeine.
Starting point is 01:17:10 How can you suck that up? But I'm telling you, they would bring cases and cases to the gym. And every once in a while, one can would be broken from shipping. But the entire can, I swear to God, would smell like the oldest thing of cheese in your fridge ever. That's moldy as fuck. I don't think I've ever smelled a bang. It's such a weird smell. Not the bang, but it's obviously taking some time to fucking mold.
Starting point is 01:17:34 Yeah, and it's gnarly. It really grossed me out to the point where I didn't drink it anymore. I'm trying to think because when I first got into social media, I worked with a supplement company for about just a little bit over a year. I actually left them a couple months ago and the reasons why i left were not because the products weren't great like i actually really love their supplements and their products but it was because i didn't align with the brand anymore they're just using the fuck out of people anyway i don't think people should be sponsored by anybody that's what it did i felt like i was being kind of used by them i felt like i was a number everyone's gonna know my name just my
Starting point is 01:18:03 instagram handle everyone's getting used. And, but I have to say like, it's, it felt when I first started with them, like so cool that like a company wanted to like send me free products. And it was honestly like about the supplements and then they offered to pay me. And I was like, holy crap, like this is something I can do. And once you kind of own yourself in the instagram space like it becomes so much more empowering and fun and impactful and i guess influence influential like it becomes more influential when you really just like own yourself and your own brand and stop taking taking like value from other people or outside sources so to add to that bang Bang was paying me $2,000.
Starting point is 01:18:46 I was getting $250 a post at the time when I first started with them. But I was only making like, I was still making like single digit thousands of dollars a month, like five digit numbers, right? Four digit numbers, sorry. Four digit numbers.
Starting point is 01:19:00 And like they were paying me $500 a week to make two posts. I like oh my god this is the greatest thing in the whole world like i could never imagine not having this like blah blah blah and then they were like not accepting my post because i didn't like show the can in the right direction i didn't like open it a certain amount of times and drink it and like show this and show that it was it started getting really ridiculous and it wasn't who i was yeah and i needed that extra fucking two thousand dollars every month at the time yeah but i mean it was like a production to get some of these shots i
Starting point is 01:19:29 was actually spending money sometimes just to get the shot and then i'd have to ask people in the gym hey man can you take a can you like try to make this video for me and i'm like such a douche and then one day i was like fuck this i'm done with it i'm over it and i remember like i would never i was so nervous to drop two thousand like i remember even my friends like dude you're gonna stop two thousand dollars every month just because you fucking think it's lame and i'm like yes and i'm gonna start focusing on my own stuff yeah and within a month yeah i made more than five times what i was making from them every month i went from like like 2000 to an extra
Starting point is 01:20:05 $10,000 a month marketing my own products. And that is literally the door that let me realize what I was capable of that moment. Like the, the, the single scariest moment at that time about losing money made a huge impact. And then I had one more moment later on where i was training this girl every single day for 100 bucks an hour every single morning every single day oh my god like i was making so much money from this girl and i woke up at six and no i woke up at like 5 30 to train her at six between 5 and 5 30 i wake up every single day and i hated it because i go to bed late making workouts or doing whatever and every single day i was like fuck i hate doing this i hate it i hate it i hate it like not in the beginning in the beginning i was like oh my god cha-ching cha-ching cha-ching and then later on i was like like a year and a half two years went by
Starting point is 01:20:55 and i was like i can't do this anymore i fuck i can't do it like i know for sure that if i sleep better and i start putting this time into something else, and all these little things, it'll scale. I was so scared. Again, gave that person up to someone in the gym who needed it. One of my trainers, that amount of money completely changed his life, completely. And he has it now, and he's fucking so thankful for it, which is great. But then also it gave me another five five digit number to add to my my business i'm so glad i left that company i mean i'm not i'm not on the way of like i haven't i decided
Starting point is 01:21:32 not to sign with anyone else like i'm i haven't really made back the money but i'm thriving i'm happy for sure like that's what matters so someone in my gym one of my coaches the other day was like hey i'm gonna link up with this company and I'm going to start like this little thing. It's basically a pyramid deal. Oh, my God. I hate those. I hate them. Do you know what the pyramid scheme is? I don't want to talk about it because I actually like the company a lot.
Starting point is 01:21:53 Really? Yeah. I actually like – I like the owner of the company. I didn't know he was doing this, but like it is what it is. We'll talk after. Yeah. So she's all excited about it and I'm like, listen, listen, please. You have so much potential.
Starting point is 01:22:05 It's not even that. It's the girl you met today. Oh, really? Yeah. Okay. I just was like – the girl I was coaching. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I was like – you don't understand.
Starting point is 01:22:13 I know it sounds like a quick buck right now and you're excited about it. Yeah. But I swear to you if you market yourself, you're going to do so much better. And you're young enough right now where like you don't need the money right now. Like it's not a huge deal. Like – Yeah. Like're going to do so much better and you're young enough right now where like you don't need the money right now. Like it's not a huge deal. Like, yeah. Like I know people, especially for girls, people say that to me all the time. They're like, why don't you scale your coaching business? Why don't you take on 20 more clients? And I could, cause right now this is what I like and I'm not burned out on actually being burned out is a gnarly feeling. Yeah, no, I know. I, I worked three jobs and went to school.. I was just done by the end of that.
Starting point is 01:22:45 And for me too, it's like I love coaching. And if I took on 20 more girls, I would hate it. And I wouldn't be providing that value for them. It's not worth it. Loving what you do, it is very transparent. And when you met me, you're like, okay, this guy is serious. He loves what he does. And he's really passionate about it.
Starting point is 01:23:01 Yeah, and that's what I hope people feel when they meet me. Because I dropped a lot of things that made me burned out yeah and like yeah it was it sucked it sucks to look at the bottom line and be like fuck i'm gonna have less yeah but oh man it really does work out and i feel like everything always works out everything fucking works out if you really have the work ethic behind it i can't just say everything's gonna work out and you sit at home every day like it's not working out i'm sitting here and uh it's not working out like you sit there at the fucking bus stop and the bus never shows up but like it can and it will work out if you're putting the effort in every day and people see it so i would never right i would never have sarah on this show you guys know how important
Starting point is 01:23:38 this show is to me this is a big deal to me and there's six to seven hundred thousand downloads will happen on this show in a month and i'm not gonna told me that right before we started and i got so nervous i just casually have this show that gets like he's like hey you want you want to maybe record on my podcast today i'm like uh okay he's like so there's like this hundred thousand people i'm like dude these guys are gonna hear me blabber about whatever for hours but i think for you guys it was great to have her on like not only like did we get to like say a bunch of sexual jokes which i love to have in the show not enough no not nearly enough if it matters to you she's literally only been wearing
Starting point is 01:24:14 like a thong and a sports bra the whole time um no i'm just kidding she doesn't wear clothes anyway so check out my instagram if you want to see more. Anyway, but it's just nice to have her perspective because she's in that demographic right now. We're like, this is everything. Yeah. And if you own a business right now, her demographic is everything. Yeah. And if you want to get into social media, her opinion matters just as much as mine does because she's in the thick of it and i'm like at the tail end of it because i've been in it for so long we're like i'm looking into things that she's probably not looking into or and i'm analyzing different things that she's
Starting point is 01:24:50 probably not analyzing but you guys are getting the really raw um transparency from both of us yeah both ends which i think is great so i think that the stuff that you guys just learned from this podcast is equally if not better than some fucking $5,000 coaching program that you're going to pay for. That's what I was literally just going to say. I was like, when I met, when I first met Ryan, which was pretty, pretty recently, a couple of weeks ago. And I, I mean, there was no expectation there.
Starting point is 01:25:15 I was just like, cool, fun gym to work out at. Like, I'm going to go test it out. Like I had no idea. And when I met the business coach I worked with, when I met other business coaches in the past, all they ever talked about was money, how they were going to triple my income, how I had this much potential to make this much money. And for me, I was like, okay, cool. Like I'm down to make money, like whatever.
Starting point is 01:25:34 But money was never my driving force. And then when I met Ryan, he was so passionate about like getting killer workouts, having fun, getting cool content, traveling the world. I was like, okay, damn, this is like the energy I want to be around. And I realized how much like these business coaches and other people like in my space were bringing my energy down. They were taking away from my passion for fitness and my passion for my business because all they could think about was like money, money, money. And like, but I think they like talking about money too, because they're probably not actually making as much money as they like to talk about yeah i have no idea you know what i mean
Starting point is 01:26:07 like a lot of the time it's not it it's not they're faking it until they make it yeah type of thing you know and like well with business coaches yeah yeah for sure i like usually there's like very few people that actually know like my like financial stuff you know what i mean like i live in a very regular house i drive a pretty regular car and like right now i don't i don't wait till the douche mobile pulls up next time i'm ready for it better not no okay so like i mean you just you just never really know but i mean you do know when you like actually know somebody and that makes a huge difference and i think that after listening to this show hopefully
Starting point is 01:26:46 you guys learned a lot about social media and what you should be doing to be better at social media but also i hope that you learn like how to pick people and how to have these people who are it like i don't want to say influencers but they're what would you call somebody that's like a role model for your life yeah like influential in your life i mean i believe if you're putting your life on social media, you are an influencer because you're influencing other people. We hope to do it in a way that inspires people to like want to become their best version of themselves, become stronger. And that's what I'm hoping. And like that's why I would call myself an influencer.
Starting point is 01:27:18 People give a really bad name to that because people think being an influencer just means you get like paid money to like have cool shit. That's not true at all. Like you really, I, we really work for what we have and like, yes, not everyone's like that, but we're also not models. Like our job is not to be a model or an actress or an actor or whatever. Like our job is to motivate people, inspire people, give people value. And like, if you're in the fitness space, don't claim to be a model and watch it for free. Don't act like you're entitled and deserve it because you don't work for it. Well said.
Starting point is 01:27:54 I want to say that to everyone. It's so dope. Like being on the podcast and having the mic on, things just happen. Damn. I like have never said, I have like friends who I could say that to. Yeah, things that just come out.
Starting point is 01:28:04 So, all right guys, this is going to conclude the show. I hope that everything that you got was extremely valuable. And if you want to check out my Instagram, you guys all know where to find me. Ryan Fish. R-Y-A-N-F-I-S-C-H. If you want to check out Sarah, go ahead and tell me your Instagram where to find you. Oh, it's so obnoxiously long. At fit underscore and underscore dedicated.
Starting point is 01:28:24 Fit and dedicated with two underscores in between the words. Easy money. You have a website too, right? I do have a website. It's in my Instagram bio. I have a lot of – like I have my – I have an email list where I only provide valuable content in my email list. I actually don't have any ads. But I also have workout guides as well.
Starting point is 01:28:42 So check them out if you're interested. If you're not, cool. So yeah. That's how we do it over here. Very transparent. Just another thing to add in there. When she said my website is in my bio, just so you guys know because we get a lot of messages, please don't ask where to find our stuff. I think you just instantly think to go to someone's DMs and message them.
Starting point is 01:29:03 There's a lot of messages in there. There's a good chance that you might not get a message back always. So always make sure that if there's someone that you really want to talk to, just check out that bio. Go ahead and click on those links. Go ahead and check out those highlights. Everything that you ever wanted to know is probably in there. I have like over 100 client testimonials in there, my highlights. I know.
Starting point is 01:29:22 It's dope. Like it's dope to have stuff like that. But no one ever looks at it. And recipes. Literally. My highlights. I know it's dope. Like it's dope to have stuff like that, but no one ever looks at it. And recipes. Literally. Nutrition. Like everything in the highlights. I have so many naked photos of mine.
Starting point is 01:29:30 You guys can check out. That's all I'm going to do later. Naked handstand walks, naked kettlebells. I'm going to ride that one wheel naked. You're going to ride all sorts of things. So, all right guys.
Starting point is 01:29:41 And that concludes the show everybody. All right guys. I love you and I will see you next week. Over and out. Ryan Fish.
