Ladies and gentlemen, it is Tuesday, which means it is time for another episode of Real Chalk!
You are so, so very welcome. We get to sit down today with Mrs. Nicole Leonard, a.k.a. Nikki Rika, for those of you who know her on social media.
I happen to have dated Nikki Rika for two years, so I know quite a bit about her, and it also creates a lot of fun banter on this episode.
But not only that, she was the face of a huge supplement company called Shreds back in the day.
She knows a lot about social media.
She taught me a ton about social media.
In fact, most of the stuff that I do on social media is actually because of her.
And I just watched a huge business make a lot of great decisions and a lot of bad decisions.
So we talk about that a little bit. She also has a child now. So we get to talk about her fitness regimen
before and after that. And she has a fitness app now that explains all of that. So that's
really, really cool. So the entrepreneur side of her is coming out. We hit so many just funny,
different topics as well, where it's like, are they really talking about this on
the air? And yes, I assure you, we are. So there's stuff like that. You're going to learn a lot.
You're going to hear a lot. You're going to feel like you're in the room just hanging out with us
and just getting your grind on. If you're a true fan of myself or Nikki, you're going to love,
love, love this episode. And if you just want to know a little bit more about
working out around pregnancy, you want to know a little bit more about social media stuff,
you want to have some good laughs and listen to a fun episode, this is going to be the one for you.
And I'm so excited to get this one going. Here we go.
Before we get into the show, I want to talk about our new sponsor, BioOptimizer. Basically,
what these guys do is they create enzymes to help you guys
absorb more of the protein that you're eating. So if you're like me and you eat tons of meat
and protein bars and shakes and stuff when you're at work, you're really only absorbing a very small
amount of that. And I've done research on this and it really is the truth. You can only absorb
so much protein. So with these enzymes, you can actually absorb a ton more and get so
much more bang for your buck out of what you're eating. Not only that, but that alone is going
to make you so much more jacked, shredded, and feeling good about yourself. Not only that,
you won't have like the bloated belly feel when you eat too much meat. You know what I'm talking
about? This stuff will get rid of that. It has something in it called Protease.
It has more than 100% than the nearest competitor.
They also have three to five times more per serving than the nearest competitor.
So these guys are just killing the game.
They also have 13 additional enzymes, including lipase for fat digestion,
which works at every pH level in your body, which is a rare thing to come by.
And because of what they have in their products, it literally just makes it the go-to enzyme product really out there. They have a ton of other things, but this is the one that is really hot
right now. It's the one that I really would like to recommend for you guys. And you can try it
today risk-free. There's really no obligation obligation for you it's 365 day full money back
guarantee if you don't feel how mass enzymes helps and upgrades your digestion and gets you more time
in the gym their support will to get a 20% discount
off your order.
So you guys have no obligation, 365 day full money back guarantee.
Masszymes.com slash real chalk.
Use code chalk20 and there's really no reason to not try it the worst case
scenario you get super super jacked and you start feeling better about yourself i've been using them
for a little bit and i really do like them a lot and i think that enzyme is something i'm going to
be starting to look a little bit more into in my research and also trying a lot more of these in
my personal diet so i hope you guys give them a go. No risk obligation.
Now let's get back to the show with Mrs. Nicole Leonard.
Chalk Nation, we are with the woman, the myth, the legend, my ex-girlfriend.
It's Nikki Leonard.
We did.
What's up? I feel like everybody just wants this episode to happen.
So we are in the same booth, the Strong Coffee booth, at the Fitness Expo in San Diego.
I said, you know what?
I think we should do this.
And there's so many funny things to go back on and reminisce about.
Also, she is a newly acquired mother of a child named Bodie.
Newly acquired.
Yes.
So she has a lot of tips for you guys for pre- and postnatal exercise stuff.
Talk about diet stuff.
We can ask her about her current fitness regimen.
And, of course, we can just talk about all things that are funny in the world of Nikki Leonard and Ryan Fisher,
which is so many things.
So many things. So many things.
So excited.
At least two years of things.
Yeah.
I think people always love to hear about some of my past experiences,
whether it was with Ronnie Teasdale that I've had on the show
or some other friends of mine that I've had on the show.
So I think everyone always likes to hear anything that has to do with my mother.
Oh, yeah.
So I feel like.
Should we kick this off with a mom story?
So basically, for all of you out there that do not know, the way Ryan and I actually got together was because of his mother.
The very first day I joined Chalk, it was the one-year anniversary party.
That was a good party.
Yeah.
There was a bowl a mechanical
bowl yeah mechanical bowl in the middle that was also my mom's first time that she'd ever been on
an airplane ever right she's 58 years old i believe at the time yeah she was scared in 58
years she had never been on an airplane ever so she came out for my one year anniversary it was
the first time she ever saw the gym.
It was her first time on an airplane going from New Jersey to California.
It's like a six hour flight.
So your first time on a flight,
that's a big flight.
Yeah.
And she landed and she was pissed.
She was like,
wait,
why? I cannot believe I waited 60 years and that,
and that wasn't even that bad.
Oh,
well,
yeah.
She was terrified.
Oh,
poor thing.
Her whole life.
But anyway, she landed.
She doesn't drink, but everybody else does.
Yeah.
So everybody was smashed.
And she's like, you know what?
I'm going on the bowl.
And she got on the bowl, six-year-old lady just getting on there.
And she fucking loved it.
Yeah, she's fucking awesome.
I just love her.
So many great photos of mom on the bowl.
So, yeah, anyway, it was my very first day there.
Ryan said, come on back for the party, meet some people.
And I was like, all right.
Well, hold on.
You walked in, and I remember I was behind the desk.
Oh, yeah.
And you walked in, and you were like, hi, I'm Nikki.
Well, yeah, because Jonathan Coyle told me to come to your gym because I asked him what CrossFit gym is the best.
I want to go there.
And so he was like, yeah, go to my friend Ryan Fisher's gym.
It's called Chalk. I had him and Natalie on the podcast recently. Yeah. and so he was like yeah go to my friend ryan fisher's gym i had him and natalie on the podcast recently yeah and so i was like okay so he gave me ryan's number i texted
him i was like hey i want to come into the gym around like noon and ryan was like okay cool like
see you then i just didn't do my homework i didn't look and see who she was or anything i didn't
really care i was just like oh cool another person's coming to the gym yeah so she came in
like she knew me she's like oh hey like yeah i was like all smiling like hey like waving and i was like who the fuck are you
so it was an awkward moment i was like okay um i texted you hello and he was like oh hey bring
it in for the real thing let's make it more awkward i'll hug you and then i was like oh
this chick's pretty hot so then i was like i was like, so since you're new here, if you need help, like, you know, finding places to drink coffee or do anything cool, let me know.
Yeah.
Oh, by the way, we have a party tonight you should probably come to.
Yeah.
And then.
So back to the party.
Ryan's mom comes up to me.
Oh, I told her at the party.
I'm like, I really like this chick.
Within like less than 12 hours of meeting me.
I was like, mom, you should be my wingman.
Yeah.
And my mom stepped in.
She was.
Pulled the wing out.
Legit.
She came up and she was like, oh, hey, so are you single?
Because my son is.
Like right off the bat, I was like, oh, well, yeah, I am.
Yeah.
That was so funny.
Smooth, mom.
Smooth.
To this day, my mom, like if you show interest in my life, whether you're.
She'll follow you on social media.
She will know everything about you.
Yes.
So if you show interest, you do a lot of commenting.
She sees you on my snap, whatever.
She will friend you.
And then she will Sherlock Holmes the fuck out of you and make sure that you're a good person and this and that and then
if she likes you she'll reach out to you and she'll message you actually wait actually so
on her profile on on Instagram it actually says I have an obsession with following my son Ryan
and his CrossFit friends yeah and I have seven brothers and sisters.
Yes.
And it just says Ryan.
It's all about the baby boy, Ryan.
So, yeah.
So, yeah, that is the myth that is my mom.
Yes.
She's an amazing beauty.
She's not a myth.
She is a legend.
She's a legit legend.
Legendary.
What a legend.
In Australian terms, they say what a legend all the time.
My mom's a legit, for real legend. Yeah, and I In Australian terms, they say, what a legend all the time. My mom's a legit, for real, legend.
Yeah, and I still talk to her to this day.
I know you do.
And my mom talks to all of our ex-girlfriends.
Which is crazy.
Which kind of bothered me in the beginning of our relationship.
But now that you're on that end.
Yeah, honestly, it has nothing to do with anything other than that she just like loves people and like wants to talk and like
she and i remember you'd be mad about it you'd be like what the fuck and i'd be like why is this
happening to everyone you know what i mean i didn't understand but now i do now you're like
oh i like it yeah it's good well she's she has just like so much knowledge about life and like
it's honestly like she's a great person to talk to about like anything like if you're legit in a
situation where you're like i need advice you can go to her and she's totally non-biased.
Like, even if it was about you and me, I'd be like, I need to vent.
I need to tell you why he's fucking pissing me off right now.
Yeah.
And she would be like, okay.
And then she'd be like, yeah, he's acting like an asshole.
So I'd be like, you're fucking awesome.
I love you.
That's so funny.
Yeah.
Even if I hook up with, like, a new chick, right?
I'll be like, mom, I went out on this date.
My mom would be like, did you fuck her i know i was so blunt and i'll be like mom you know i did and then she'll be like well was it good and i'll be like well and then she'll go
i want to know like how was she crazy did this happen blah blah blah and i'll be like and i
actually have to realize for a second i'm like okay this is my mom it's not everybody else's mom and I actually can sit here and tell her step
by step what's going on well it was just you two for a long time yeah so I mean like that was you
know but it's insane the things that I can tell my mom it's like absolutely insane yeah you guys
have a really great open relationship my mom knows about our sex life for sure. Yeah, she does. Yes, she does.
What a great first seven minutes of the podcast. We are seven minutes in ladies and gentlemen,
seven minutes. Yeah, that's, you know, it's just going to get better from here on out.
Yeah, it is going to get better. I actually haven't had pants on the entire episode.
I'm actually topless. I'm breastfeeding my child right now as we speak in front of Ryan. She is not lying at all.
Her areolas look great.
So, now that we've established some old context.
Yes.
Moving on now.
On your social media, I remember when you were pregnant.
Yes.
Obviously, everyone, I'm sure, remembers when you were pregnant.
Because you were the same size with a big belly. Yeah. Which simulates the fact that you were pregnant. Yes. Obviously, everyone, I'm sure, remembers you when you were pregnant because you were the same size with a big belly, which simulates the fact you're pregnant.
So.
What a great description.
But I remember everybody was like, who's that?
Or, you know, questions like that, right?
Like they want to know.
They want to know everything because it's the world and they're nosy little motherfuckers.
Yeah.
And they want to dig and they want to know all these things.
Right.
So I liked recently you were like, you know what?
You guys want to know the fucking truth?
Yeah.
And you just went hard.
Yeah.
Here the fuck it is.
You went three posts deep.
Yeah.
One of three, two of three, three of three.
And you asked me three times if I read all three of them before we did this podcast.
But really, did you read all of
them i did no yeah i mean um for the followers that are out there for nikki right now that
want to listen to this episode let's hit that real quick um single mom over here on it but
let's just do it and let everyone know like what the fuck yeah so i mean it took me a year to
actually like open up about my story because um when you're pregnant, you're very hormonal, lots of emotions going on.
But in my case, I'm a single mom, so I haven't had any contact with the father, who I basically call a sperm donor now because that's basically what it is let's just be honest since I was three months
pregnant so it's just been me and Bodie this whole entire time in my belly and now outside my belly
and it was pretty emotional ride for me I moved from California to Charlotte and that in itself
was like a huge move being pregnant and know, just pretty much starting all over again. Um, very
kind of weird year for me. Uh, didn't really feel comfortable talking about my situation.
Um, I know there's a lot of people out there that this happens to now more so than ever,
because I did post those three, um, I guess posts with my story. Um, so it, because I did post those three, I guess, posts with my story.
So, like I said, it took me a year to come out about this.
And basically now I just, like, really don't give a fuck.
Like, this is my story.
I'm a single mom.
I'm doing it all on my own.
It's so much better when you do it that way, too.
I have no shame in my game.
I actually really do love it because I get to make all the decisions.
You know, I don't have to fight with somebody about, like, what to do with him or, like, you know, what doctors to bring him to or what I should be giving him, like, food-wise or whatever.
So, like, you know, I can just basically just do whatever I want with him, which is great.
But holy shit is it expensive.
Well, it's crazy when you talk to like people who are
older than us and you want to be like oh what's like some great pointers you can give like on
life right yeah and older people i mean i think actually someone that you know fong who goes to
my gym someone i really respect and i've i ask questions all the time and she said like the two
biggest struggles in life are money and parenting yeah so like i think being a single parent
definitely has a advantage
because you don't have to argue about parenting like this is how i'm gonna do it and that is so
that is a good point to bring up yeah but then the whole money part comes into play you're like
fuck i'm doubly fucked right now so so you you understand when someone says like i got a family
to feed i got oh fuck yeah i have a family to feed for sure so i totally understand i totally
get that but for me like it's just been such an emotional journey that um you know i didn't want
to talk about it because honestly i was a little bit like ashamed of my situation um i first for
whatever reason i didn't understand how I got to be in that position.
Well, everybody wants, like, the whole fairytale ending.
Oh, yeah, of course.
But, you know, sometimes you don't get what you want. And, you know, I don't want to call it a mistake, but, you know, shit happens.
And ultimately, you know, I ended up getting pregnant by someone I barely even knew.
And I decided to keep it because, number one, I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I barely even knew. And I decided to keep it because number one,
I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I had an abortion. Number two, like I take responsibility
for my actions. And that's basically where I am right now. So, um, you know, coming out about
my situation, I really, it opened like the floodgates. Like got so many dms from people who are in similar situations
and not just females but like males as well and um so you know it opened up the dialogue for
single momhood and did you get any negative messages i actually got maybe like one or two
one person asked me why i didn't have an abortion. And then I don't even remember.
But we're talking thousands of messages.
Thousands.
And everyone was like, wow, like, I can't, like, thank you so much for opening up.
You know, like, I'm in a similar situation.
Like, you know, you're so inspiring.
Thank you for letting us know that, like, everything on Instagram isn't what it seems, you know.
And thank you for being so real about it.
And, like, you know, if I can for being so real about it. And like,
you know, if I can just help one person, that's good enough for me. But with those posts, um,
so many people reached out that I was like, actually taken aback because I, I couldn't
believe that that happened so many times, you know, that it's so common that people are just left high and dry with these pregnancies
and um or like you know i heard way worse stories than mine and i was like damn like that made me
feel a little bit better about my situation but well i think what's crazy too is everyone thinks
that you know people we talk about the fairy tale ending everybody wants the fairy tale ending
and sometimes you think everyone has the fairy tale ending where they had the fairy tale ending and sometimes you think everyone has the fairy tale ending or they had the fairy tale ending yeah and that's not true no it's not i know so many people that
like post up that their like life is so great and it's really a shit show behind closed doors
there's so many people like that yeah and my mom always tells me too like the people you think are
the most best off like are actually the worst off worst off. Yeah. And that's, like, something that you don't actually find out for such an incredible amount
of time.
Oh, yeah.
Like, I'm in my 30s now, and I figured out shit that I didn't know, you know what I mean?
Yeah.
And I always thought these people had the life and this and that.
I mean, even my own story is a little bit off.
It's not perfect.
Right.
So, I don't know.
Fuck it.
You know what I mean?
Yeah. perfect right so um i don't fuck it you know what i mean yeah and and to be honest like you know i
i have tried to stay as positive as i can throughout the whole thing and like just take it
as a life lesson and um basically you know in my post i talked about you know loving yourself and
spending time with yourself before going and spending time with others or trying to look for attention or whatever or, you know, love in all the wrong places
because that happens so often, you know.
Like people, you know, break up with other people
and then they go and find someone else to fill that void.
And, you know, like I've done it.
I know everyone's done it before.
And I wanted to be as openly honest about my situation.
And, you know, this whole thing has opened my eyes to, like, what I know I deserve,
and that is, you know, a life for my son and somebody who's going to respect us both
and, you know, take responsibility for their actions.
And, you know, I don't want to settle for anything
less than that so all right so we got a lot of life lessons learned right there yes um this is
a health and fitness podcast though so as much as i love these type of talks um i do want to talk
about a little bit of health and fitness stuff too so that is an amazing background story life lessons learned right there we also have some
amazing fitness and lifestyle lessons that have been learned as well so for a lot of you who don't
know nikki was part of a giant brand called shreds back in the day yep and i would say anybody who
was part of shreds was probably some of the biggest models on Instagram at the time.
Yes.
Don't you think?
I would say so, yeah.
And some of them are actually larger than life as we speak.
Yeah.
So Nikki was one of those people.
And I didn't really know what Shreds was when I first met her. And, I mean, I, like, kind of had an idea.
And then, like, she went to, like, Olympia wearing, like, fucking varsity jackets.
And, like, you guys were insane. Yeah, we were deckity jackets. You guys were insane.
Yeah, we were decked out.
You guys were insane.
I know.
I think what's crazy right now is there's a lot of people out there,
and they want to make a career in the fitness industry,
or they're listening to this for tips for certain things,
or they just want to kind of know what happened with certain things,
like maybe like shreds.
So you start fitness, right?
Mm-hmm.
You start getting into this thing.
You're trying to figure out what you want to do.
You get picked up by something called shreds.
All of a sudden, like, life is fucking rad.
Yeah, it went from, like, it was, like, 0 to 100 real quick.
Yeah.
Like, I didn't, you know, Instagram just started.
Instagram just started.
Just started.
Wow.
Just started.
And we took it to a whole new level.
Like, our marketing was just, you know, above the average.
Like, nobody really even thought to do anything like that on Instagram.
Like, everything that he was doing was insane.
Yeah.
And he actually, what I heard that he was doing, he actually, like, managed, like, two other pages.
Yeah.
And then was pushing that towards shreds every time so like you'd be like following some like recipe page you'd be like
oh my god these are so rad and actually like it was actually drawing you into shreds yeah or a
person who was marketing for shreds and ultimately would lead you back to shreds everything led you
back to shreds yeah which was insane until we we became the Shreds Army, which is, like, so huge.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So then all of that, you know, drove you up.
You got a ton of followers right away.
You're living this totally different lifestyle.
And I remember knowing you, and I was like, damn, you're getting paid crazy cash, and you don't have to do, like, all that much.
Yeah, it was just, like, tons of photo shoots.
But, like, more than that, we were doing a lot of stuff for, like, their fit club.
So, yeah, we did a lot of content.
And honestly, like, it was pretty exhausting.
I'm not going to lie.
But, yeah, it was more fun than anything, I would say.
And honestly, I didn't even know that that was even like a job.
Yeah.
I was like, this is what I do for a living?
Yeah.
I still can't believe that I did that for like seven years of my life.
I was so jealous.
I was like, what the fuck?
Yeah, you were like not nice about it at certain points.
Well, I was like dying.
I had so much work to do.
And you'd be like like i have to do a
photo shoot for like two hours and then i'm just gonna chill and i was like what the fuck and she
makes twice as much money as i do yeah but you know what like you can't even say like that i
didn't try to help you out you're a difficult person to help out so let's just put that out
there i did offer my assistance and you denied it so that's your own problem there's some things i would
change in my life as well um so okay cool so now we have this giant brand yeah you are like
growing insane so all these things are happening is there anything that you would do differently
now because what ultimately happened toreds is it fell apart.
Yeah.
Right?
Mm-hmm.
The owner, Arvin, is scheming up something else right now, I'm sure.
Oh, yeah.
I can't wait to see what it is, actually.
I know.
I'm, like, about to text him and be like, hey, let me get in on this.
I know.
Like, I just, everyone has, like, you know, whatever they want to say.
The anticipation is killing me.
Everyone wants to say something is killing me everyone wants to
say something negative about him but they can't because as soon as they say something negative
he's gonna be like boom he might actually be the owner of the most supplement the most
aggressive brand right now we don't even know he actually owns your gym you have no idea yeah
what i mean like i don't even know so he's so gnarly like that but anyway um eventually when that ended
where where did that leave you so to be honest i invested so much of my time into shreds that i
didn't invest enough into myself and that ultimately left me like starting from the
beginning like all over again so i really had to build up my brand now
instead of the shreds brand. And, um, that left me with, you know, online clients and
trying to build, you know, Nikki Rika fit.com. And, um, then eventually I ended up starting an
app, a fitness app that's out there on iTunes right now. So that's like, um, my main source of like coaching right now um i do do online
coaching and stuff like that but just like building rebuilding myself from that point up was like
and it's still difficult like you know it's instagram isn't the same as it was you know
it's a lot harder to get big now there's no more popular page yeah so well there's a what would you
call it an explorer page it's an explorer page now but like there's a page it keeps evolving into like more
things so that you get lost in the shuffle you know it used to be though if you were on that
page oh you would become instagram famous like overnight oh yeah but now that's gone yeah so
i remember i was i had page hathaway on the show and i had natalie eve marie on the show who have
millions of followers and they were basically saying saying the popular pages where it was at.
Yeah.
If you ever got on there, you were just crushing.
So like now that's gone.
So you can't really do that anymore.
Yeah.
But a big thing I want listeners to get out of this show is the mistake that you made a little bit where like it took you a little bit too long to grow your own brand.
It's like something I want a lot of people out there to know right now.
So like as you start getting more famous on Instagram,
maybe you have 10,000 followers, you don't have a huge following,
but you're starting to grow and brands are going to reach out to you
and they're going to say, hey, I want you to represent my brand.
I want you to do this. I want you to do that.
Really evaluate the situation.
How much money are they really going to pay you?
Are you just getting free shit?
Are you a CrossFit athlete out there right now,
and you want to go to the CrossFit Games more than anything,
but when you really think about it,
you might potentially get 20th place at the CrossFit Games,
which is an amazing feat.
And not make any money.
Right?
And you might get a couple free t-shirts.
You might get a free flight out to fucking Madison.
Yeah.
All these different things.
But what is it really going to do for you, right?
Right.
And it's really hard to pass up
so hard
right I mean just last year
two years ago I was sponsored by Bang Energy
I thought it was the coolest thing in the world
because I was like
oh I get $250 every time I make a post
with this energy drink you know
and I like their energy drinks at the time
and I was like this is cool
I'm like I feel like I'm part of Red Bull or something
and it's like okay at the end of the month
I'd get $2,000 which is going to get taxed on.
So, like, whatever.
And you were making some serious videos and, like, spending a lot of time on that.
So I wound up realizing I was spending all this time.
Not really making shit.
Well, all I was doing was helping them grow.
Yeah, and not helping yourself.
And not helping myself.
And I remember specifically when I was like, because sometimes they wouldn't accept my videos.
I'd put all this work in and they would be like, no, we can't accept it because you didn't zoom in on them.
This is real, folks.
This is a real thing right now.
I'm not exaggerating.
They'd be like, you did not zoom in on the can three times and you didn't drink it twice.
So you had to zoom in three times and drink it twice.
Do you know how tacky that looks in a fucking 60-second video are you kidding me yeah that's it's overkill i could have just had
it chilling in the background and it would have sold way more cans and if i sat there and like
jerked off on the can well honestly that was pretty much like the shreds model back in the day
but it worked back in the day like now the first ones to ever yeah so people were like damn like
this is sick yeah but now it's like okay you guys are tacky as fuck. Like, show me how you're going to use it in real life. Yeah. Like, I don't want to see someone like walking down the beach holding frigging bang energy. Like, how is this going to actually help me? Well, I remember getting to the point where like, I just needed a photo. Yeah. And I would feel embarrassed to ask someone like, hey, can you take this photo? Right. Which I think is so funny, because I always used to be be like ryan can you like help me like take photos and stuff like this and you're like this
is so dumb so then like when you had to do it you're like oh my god i totally get i hated it i
totally get what you what you were saying yeah i remember going to equinox with you and you were
like you pulled out all these little books and stuff and you're doing like knee raises for the
bar and i was like i was looking around i was like oh my god i'm so embarrassed right now is this real
and you're like ryan this is what i have to do and i was like wow like was looking around. I was like, oh, my God, I'm so embarrassed right now. Is this real? And you're like, Ryan, this is what I have to do.
And I was like, wow, like these are how these photos are taken.
Yeah.
But anyway, I remember a video that I spent a lot of time on.
They didn't accept it.
And I remember just being like, you know what?
I love getting these paychecks every month.
But I'm fucking done.
And I remember the stress of being like oh my god
i'm not gonna get paid this money right now and i really want to start pushing my own product yeah
so which was my online program at the time and i remember within one month of just marketing my own
product yeah i had superseded the stupid $2,000 that I was getting from their brand.
Oh, yeah.
So for all of you out there who are, like, on the fence right now about, like, pushing some other product who, like, really wants to help you out.
And then you have, like, maybe your own thing and you have to jump and hope that it's going to, you know.
Work out for you.
Work out for you.
Like, I did it and it was, like, very instant.
And it was, like like a lot more transparent
to people that this was something that i believed in it was something that i did and like sometimes
though easier for me yeah because it's something that you loved and it's something that you're
passionate about so like but that's like another thing like even if you're following your passion
even if you're doing something that you love and you're like trying to promote like your programming
or whatever like it might not be it might not happen as quickly as it did for you. Like it might take
some time, but like really, really invest your time into that and really focus on that rather
than something that you are only going to get paid like a certain X amount of dollars for that
you're not really into. Like do whatever you're passionate about. Cause that's where you're going
to make the money ultimately. And the first one is always a means to an end.
Right.
So no matter how badass Shreds got for you, it was always a means to an end.
Yeah.
And I want other people to know that too.
Like there's no reason for you to be in a scenario where you get, you know, kicked out of your job or kicked out of, you know, whatever brand that you're sponsoring and you have
nothing when it's over.
That should never happen.
Yeah.
You should always be working on something.
So like now you're working on your app, which is called... Nicariga Fit. Nicariga Fit. So kind of should never happen. Yeah. You should always be working on something. So, like, now you're working on your app, which is called?
Nicarica Fit.
Nicarica Fit.
So, kind of like your Instagram.
Yeah.
Nicarica and then Fit.
So, yeah.
It's on iTunes.
And it's, I'm sure it's in your bio of your Instagram.
Yeah.
It's in my, I have it linked up to my Instagram, and you guys can go on there, check it out.
Seven day free trial, so.
So, what made you go into that route
versus like i don't know like you're obviously fucking since i've known you've been super ripped
like you didn't go into the nutrition route you went with the fitness route yeah fitness has
always been like something more that i was more comfortable talking about um and you know i was
fucking shredded at like eight years old doing gymnastics for like seven years and fitness has
always just been like something that came naturally to me so i wanted to market that
first and foremost and then you know have my nutrition you know as something else like a
supplement to offer people do you do nutrition stuff now yeah oh i didn't know that actually
oh cool yeah so like all um i do online coaching and basically have, you know, personalized workouts and personalized nutrition programs for people.
So I'm sure a lot of people are out there, like, oh, like, I would love to have my own app.
You know what I mean?
Like, everybody wants an app.
It's just, like, it's the way of the world.
So I feel like I got in just as it was starting to, like, blow up.
Like, I had one of the first, like, fitness apps out there that was, like, being marketed, I want to say.
Because a lot of people that have apps now actually came to me and were, like, talking to me about the company that I worked with and how I liked it and, you know, how the app is running and, you know, stuff like that.
Has everything gone smooth or would you have changed anything now?
I love the company I work with.
They're called Plank with two Ks.
And we have, like, weekly chats, follow-ups, Skype calls.
With all of your clients?
No, like, with the company.
They give me promotional images.
They help me, you know, promote the brand and the brand and the app as much as I can.
But I always leave my DMs open for anyone who's using the app.
If anyone out there is using the app right now, don't feel afraid to reach out to me.
I hate it when people reach out to me and they're like, sorry to bother you and and i'm like no don't be sorry this is my job this is what i do and i
want to help you like this is this is exactly why i'm doing what i'm doing like it's not just for a
paycheck like i actually enjoy helping everybody like transform not just like physically but
mentally as well because that you know there's a whole like misconception that like if you get like
fit and you're shredded and this and that that you're ultimately's a whole like misconception that like if you get like fit and
you're shredded and this and that that you're ultimately going to be happy with yourself but
that's not the case at all like you have to be you know happy with yourself from the inside out first
so like i'm totally down to talking to clients and um i give out a lot of free information too
like through my dms like sometimes people just can't afford coaching. So this is your Instagram DMs?
Yeah.
Okay.
So you're 33 right now, correct?
Two.
32.
Oh, we're both the same age.
Yeah, I'm a couple months older than you, Ryan.
A couple months older.
I should remember that.
Thanks.
You forget things, you know.
Anyway, so let's talk about your training career.
So obviously with Shreds you were bodybuilding.
Mostly.
Actually, no. No, I was CrossFit.
I was bodybuilding and CrossFit.
But at the very, very beginning you did fitness or you did figure.
Bikini.
Bikini.
Okay, whatever.
In the very beginning.
The very, very beginning.
The first three years of Shreds I did that.
And then I trained. So you're a strict bodybuilder. beginning. The very, very beginning. The first three years of shreds I did that. And then I –
So you're a strict bodybuilder.
Yeah.
Okay.
I'm a strict bodybuilder.
And then I got bored because that life is kind of boring.
And then you got into CrossFit.
Yeah, and then I got into CrossFit.
And then you've been doing that ever since?
I've been doing – so I do a mixture of both.
Like I'm not like super into CrossFit.
Like I'm not like 100% like CrossFit, you know. Yeah. I do a mixture of both. Like I'm not like super into CrossFit. Like I'm not like 100% like CrossFit, you know.
Yeah.
I do both.
Like I – and I think you have –
So that's what I want to get into is like how did it evolve?
Oh, yeah.
And then what did it turn into pre-pregnancy?
Okay.
And then during the pregnancy?
Yeah.
And then post.
And then like where are you at now?
What is your outlook now?
What are you looking to get into?
So I just think like if you're going to train you
want to do stuff that you love doing right so um i love crossfit but i don't want to do it all the
time because it's you know it's really tough on your body um bodybuilding is a lot better for
your joints and um just like your overall aesthetics so um and then the mixture of the both together I think gives you
like a really rad shape so that's basically like my training style and it has been for I want to
say like five six years now I've been just doing a little bit of both you know I'm really into
e-moms I think those are awesome and if you really want to get like the heart rate going um some amraps throw throw those in there but overall just like sticking to um more of like
bodybuilding right now so during the pregnancy i did a little bit of both actually the first
trimester i was lucky to even get two workouts in a week because i was exhausted i was gonna say
that's when your breathing gets really bad, correct? Oh, my God.
I was, like, out of breath, like, just from freaking walking.
Like, what the hell was happening to me?
I've heard horror stories about that.
Yeah.
About that time.
You know, I was really lucky that I didn't have any morning sickness, really.
I had maybe a week of it.
But the most that was, like, the worst part about it for me was the exhaustion
during the first trimester and then once second trimester kicked in I was like holy crap my
energy's back I felt amazing like superwoman like I could I my breathing came back but like 10 times
I was like doing metcons like I was going to CrossFit I was doing metcons like still able to
keep up um obviously scaled back the weight a little bit, but still able to move pretty efficiently.
And, you know, I did a mixture of bodybuilding and CrossFit during the second trimester.
Once the third trimester rolled around, I did more bodybuilding style because it's, you know, not as crazy if you add the CrossFit in.
Third trimester,
you want to slow stuff down a little bit,
but you still want to continue to move.
I actually created a prenatal program.
I was going to say, did you document all this?
Yeah, I created a prenatal program.
Basically, everything that I did during
my pregnancy
from the second trimester on. And that is also included
in my app programming. So I put that out there for all the mamas that are still trying to stay
fit during their pregnancy. It's also something that you can use postpartum as well. I myself,
like I ended up having an emergency C-section. So I didn't start fitnessing until about six weeks after I had Bodhi.
And that was, like, really mentally challenging for me.
But at the same time, like, I knew it was the smartest thing to do.
Six weeks of nothing.
Yeah, so I basically just walked.
I did a lot of walking with him.
When four weeks rolled around, I did a little bit of stretching and some light very light body
weight stuff and then six weeks came around and I did body weight and I included you know some
kettlebell stuff and that's mainly what I'm doing right now is just all kettlebell work
yeah I could talk to you about some things oh god I love it it's like my favorite piece of equipment
it really is.
I miss cleaning and snatching.
I haven't even gone back to CrossFit.
I'm four months postpartum.
But I just love the kettlebell.
It's just really doing it for me right now. I have a kettlebell e-book.
I'll give it to you.
Perfect.
It's really, really cool.
Especially if you have two kettlebells, it's amazing.
I actually just created a six-week all kettle ball program as well.
Is that on your app?
It's not on the app yet.
That'll probably go on the beginning of the year.
But I do have it if people want to reach out and get the PDF.
I have that.
Oh, nice.
Yeah.
That's the best way to do it.
I think making the book sometimes can be really, really clutch.
Yeah.
So I'm actually at the point right now where I've made two different books.
I have a 30-day kettlebell e-book, and I have this other thing that I call HIB,
High Intensity Interval Bodybuilding.
Yeah.
So it's a mixture of –
That's awesome.
I want to try that.
Yeah.
Basically what we were talking about.
It's like CrossFit and bodybuilding mixed together.
Yeah.
Because I'm broken these days, so –
Yeah, no knees.
And I think a lot of the CrossFit world is going to find out that like you can't go ham
every single day.
I mean, I think a lot of people already know that.
Yeah.
And it's sad because like I even program like these days where it's like more mellow in
the gym and everyone's like, no, fuck that.
And they just go hard.
And I'm like, I tried like, okay, one day when you look back, you can go back on your
app and you can see that Ryan tried to help you and you fucked it up.
And you were like, no.
I feel good in my heart about it.
That's good.
What's really interesting now for people like us who are entrepreneur-minded is the app is great, but these books are amazing too.
I've had people on the show and people that I've talked to, they create these e-books
and they create a campaign
on Facebook ads.
So like,
I know Facebook's
kind of going downhill
but Facebook also owns Instagram.
Yeah.
So as a whole,
you can put,
you know,
money towards your books
and they can just go
insanely viral, right?
Yeah.
I know someone personally
who put like $40,000 in one month on one book and made $90,000 back.
That's crazy.
I know another bodybuilder guy who makes like millions of dollars every year on one ab routine.
What?
That's insane.
I mean, it's a whole book.
I'm sure there's a bunch of different things on there, but it's an ab book.
It's just an ab book.
It's an ab book.
Wow.
Yeah, with a bunch of ab workouts. Wow. I should make one because – It's just an ad book it's an ad book yeah with a bunch of ad workouts so i should make one because it's just cool to hustle both i think you
should do i think it's cool to have yeah and with the book also like um if people don't know the
movements like they can go on my youtube because i uploaded all the movements to my youtube under
like a playlist called my exercise library oh yeah, nice. So just putting that out there.
Yeah,
there you go.
Yeah.
So if someone wants this ebook from you,
yeah.
Do they just DM you or it's available somewhere?
Is there a website?
They can contact me through the website.
So NikkiRigaFit.com.
Ooh,
I didn't know you had a website.
Yeah.
How's that going?
It's pretty good.
Like I had a bunch of programs on there and I literally just,
um,
had like a flash sale and I got rid of all of them.
So I'm starting fresh because I feel like it's time.
It's been a couple years that I had the same stuff up there, and I just feel like I've had a lot of people that have bought all the programs, and they're like, what else do you got?
So now I'm like, okay, I've got to really hone it in.
So I have the all kettlebell one and then I just have like regular coaching
online coaching up there
for right now I'm working on a couple other
things but I'm not going to disclose that
it's pretty cool
it's always fun to work on new projects and then it also
like makes you like research more and you learn
more and you just feel like
so much smarter and you feel so much better
about all the stuff that you do and you just want to share
it with the world.
Yes.
Agreed.
Just being here at the fitness expo, you meet people who like, they talk to you about their business stuff and it makes you really, really think about different things.
Yeah.
Even marketing and stuff like that is insane.
I know.
The things that people are doing now are unbelievable.
Yeah.
So like with my app though, like I, I didn't make it super, um, complex.
I kept it really simple.
And I, yeah. I didn't make it super complex. I kept it really simple.
As it should be.
Yeah.
So basically all the workouts can be done with either dumbbells, kettlebells, and like a jump rope, and that's it.
There's maybe a couple in there that include like a rower, but it's like a handful of workouts.
And there's over 12 weeks of programming on there, and all the workouts are different.
So you get a really great variety. You can always redo the workouts and still get like really awesome results and with limited equipment
and i know a lot of moms out there really need that because they can't go you know to a gym with
their kids they want to do everything at home so if you're looking for a program that's that's where
you want to go so like with your following you can go on your social media and look at your analytics like what's your average age for people who follow you um
surprisingly since i've been pregnant everything has stayed the same i'm about a 50 50 ratio and
every the average age is in between like 25 to 35 perfect so that's like literally right around
the age where you want kids right so i think what's
cool about your program then is the fact that it's literally what you're doing yeah it is so
like what you're doing no bullshit yeah when you were like in your 20s like your younger 20s it's
not what you're doing right now yeah i was going ham i was doing all sorts of crazy shit but what's
cool is a lot of stuff that you're marketing right now you're actually doing right now yeah
and i don't what i think is not cool is a lot of people that i interview on the show or i
meet in person like a lot of the stuff that they're marketing is not what they actually
do right so yeah i definitely always do what i have available and if i don't do it anymore i
fucking take it off and i don't talk about it anymore and this is ryan district 2.0 or 3.0
yeah wherever i'm at in my life so this is nikki 1.0 2.0 3.0 all at the same time yeah exactly
everything that you're doing you're actually doing, which is really, really rad.
Is there anything right now that you'd like to tell everyone is like the main thing that
they should focus on like during this time in their life?
Yeah.
So if you literally have just had a baby and you're wondering like what you can be doing
postpartum,
the best thing you can do honestly is wait.
Like you have to just be okay with waiting the minimum four weeks.
But honestly, every woman is different.
So whatever kind of like delivery you had,
it's going to determine, you know, when you can start fitness again.
And when you do start fitness and you shouldn't go ham. You should really take it easy.
Like I waited six weeks.
I had a C-section.
I didn't really lift anything heavy for up until like maybe eight weeks.
I started getting a little bit heavier with the weights.
What's the difference if you have the other way, if you don't have a C-section?
A vag?
Yeah.
Vag delivery.
I was going to say, should I say vaginal or what do I say? That's what it's called right vaginal yeah so um it's just well it's different because
you know when you're having a c-section it's an operation like you're getting cut open like your
your muscle tissue um everything it's gnarly so you want to wait a little bit longer because
not everything is connected down there but also
it's better though right because now you still have a fresh nice vagina i guess i guess you
could look at it that way yeah i mean uh yeah that's one positive thing about it single guys
out there her vagina is still very fresh and intact yes it's It's still there. It looks wonderful.
Actually, I don't even know if it does because it's, you know, I haven't had any action in over a year.
And I don't really know what it looks like.
Well, maybe we'll change that up. Yeah.
We're going to go now, guys.
See you later.
No.
Bob, you're welcome.
Yeah.
So, no, I think it just depends, too, because, like, a lot of women gain a lot of weight during their pregnancies as well.
Oh, my God.
Can we please talk about that?
Yes.
Sidebar.
Yeah, yeah.
Just put that on the side.
Okay.
Put that on the side.
But, you know, when women gain a lot of weight, too, like, that's a lot of pressure, like on your bladder and um and your pelvic floor and all of
that could be become damaged like during the pregnancy and pelvic floor is another thing i
want to get back to yeah and people don't really know about it because doctors don't talk about it
they don't talk about diastasis recti which is like when your ab abdomen wall separates during
pregnancy like um and then you know afterwards like you go to your six-week checkup
and the doctor's like checking you all out and then you're like can i work out you know can i
do this can i do that and they're like yeah do whatever you want well you can't you can't do
whatever you want because you have no freaking core like you have a separation there if you
if you do a test self-test and you're lying down and you lift your head up and you take your two fingers and you
palpate your midline if your fingers sink into your stomach that means you have a separation
and it's very dangerous to be doing anything any sort of crunching or twisting or planking like
you should not be doing that at all i think is that the test you just put your fingers there
yeah so i mean you can have someone someone do it for, but if you want to do a self test, all you have to do is lie down on the floor, take one hand, put it behind your head,
lift your head up and then take your other hand and just palpate your midline. So start at your
belly button and, and then go up. And if your fingers sink into your stomach, if you don't
feel like a bounce back, like you would, if you touched muscle, then that means you you have a separation and sometimes it can be more than two fingers that sink into your stomach like
depending on how big the separation is so if you ladies out there want to do a self-test i would
totally do that how much time is usually like adequate before you can start doing apps because
people actually message me all the time you're like hey my wife i follow your online program
or whatever like and my wife is like however months post-pregnancy can she start doing like russian twist with a heavy dumbbell
no and no i'm like well you know like how how post is she yeah and usually like the research that i
see is like six months right that's exactly what i was gonna say so like and that's just for like
regular sit-ups yeah nothing with weight you know like i had someone some chick dm me and she was like
i'm two months or two months two weeks postpartum i'm two weeks postpartum when can i start doing
ghd sit-ups oh and i was like are you kidding never never like no please put that give me
your address i'm gonna send you a letter a piece of notebook paper that says never yeah don't do that to yourself yeah it's like you can
you can damage yourself so much more and then you won't be able to do shit for like a long
long period of time i still have yeah i still have women that you know i've made a post on
diastasis recti before and women were like holy crap like all those symptoms that
you're talking about you know like i i have and i didn't know that that could be related to that
and i'm like yeah yeah well it is so check yourself yeah that is insane there's a lot of
people who try to come back like very very very fast and they don't understand the risks associated with it. Like getting your post-mom bod back is like serious.
It's a serious issue, I feel like,
especially because there are other people in the fitness industry that have
babies and they come back and they look freaking shredded already.
And like I, you know, four weeks postpartum, I looked like I had my abs back,
but nowhere near did I have my abs back.
Like, my abs were still separated.
You know, my core strength was shit.
And it's still, like, getting there.
Like, I'm four months postpartum, and there's still, you know, that lack of strength there.
And I still have a teeny tiny, like, gap right by my belly button.
So I'm about to piss off a lot of moms out there.
But I piss everybody off.
Sorry, mom.
So why is it, in your opinion,
do some women think that it's fine to eat fucking everything under the sun
and it's fine because I'm pregnant
and some people keep the same diet or whatever? It's fine to eat fucking everything under the sun, and it's fine because I'm pregnant.
And some people keep the same diet or whatever.
I've had Nancy Anderson on the show who's like a pre and post. I remember Nancy.
Yep.
She was your client.
Yep.
She's like a specialist now in the field, and she was saying how like our bodies and
like through motherhood and stuff, like we can keep the same amount of calories and it's
totally fine.
We could even be in a deficit of calories and it's totally fine.
Yeah.
And for some reason, everyone thinks it's totally fine to just fucking go ham.
To eat for two.
And get fat as fuck.
Yeah.
Right?
So another thing that I, so to add to that, I'll have people come in the gym and they'll
be like, you know, I really want to start working out.
Like I just had a baby and whatever.
And I want to lose this weight.
And I'm like, well, when did you have a baby?
And they're like, oh, like two years ago.
And I'm like, oh my God.
Well, so the thing is a lot of people think that
working out is going to solve all their problems.
No, just eat healthy.
That's all you have to do.
That's why I look the way that I look
because I have done nothing but eat.
Every now and then I'll have ice cream or whatever.
But I'm not like binge eating crap food so in the beginning yeah when you first got pregnant yeah was there these
crazy hungers that like you had to like put down because i'm thinking of like the movie coneheads
when he just eats a whole subway footlong in like one bite right yeah i'm talking about yeah no i
think like i had um yeah i like craved chick-fil-A, like, in the beginning.
Chick-fil-A.
Yeah, I don't know why.
I just, like, really wanted, like, some Chick-fil-A.
I want to take that question back, though.
But, no, but listen.
God damn it.
But listen.
So, like, I realized that that was not good, you know?
Obviously.
Yeah, obviously.
But I.
Why Chick-fil-A?
I don't know.
I don't think I've ever known you to eat Chick-fil-A in my life.
You just walk by, you just smell Chick-fil-A. I was like, fuck, I could fuck up some Chick-fil-A right I don't know. I don't think I've ever known you to eat Chick-fil-A in my life. You just walk by, you just smell Chick-fil-A.
I was like, fuck, I could fuck up some Chick-fil-A right now.
Oh, my God.
But it was only like the breakfast Chick-fil-A.
Oh, my God.
The breakfast burritos.
This is very specific.
Yeah.
What about chocolate?
That I didn't really crave until like the end.
To be honest with you, what I did crave the most and everyone's gonna be really
pissed off at this was salad i thought you were gonna say sex i just heard like this
no of course you would think that right that's where your head's always at
no i mean yeah like when you're like pregnant you get super horny like during the second trimester
yeah you do and let's get back to that we We'll get back to that. So right now, the food.
Yeah, so I craved Chick-fil-A like in the beginning, and I had it a couple times.
And then I was like, you know, afterwards, though, I was like, I feel like fucking garbage for eating that.
So I just kind of.
So you felt about the same as normal.
Like you had some weird cravings, but you might give in to it.
Yeah.
And then all of a sudden you realize, okay, that was dumb.
Yeah, I was like, okay, I can't be feeding my baby this or myself.
Like, and I know that if I continue down this path, it'll be harder to break, like, later on down the line, you know.
And I think a lot of women who don't eat healthy beforehand, that's, you know, when their cravings start kicking in, that's what happens.
And then they, you know, give the excuse,
Oh, well I'm eating fruit too. Cause they're trying to justify their actions. So I haven't done a ton of research in this area, but I'm sure as soon as you got pregnant, you researched
the fuck out of everything. Um, yes and no. I I'm, you know me, I'm more of like a go
with the flow type of person. And I, I actually reached out to a lot of people that, um, went
through a pregnancy rather than like looking up online stuff but
which i think is usually best but um continue is there any sort of benefit to eating more than
normal during that time i think um so what i did here was that you should probably eat about like
200 calories more that's about it it's nothing that is not a lot it's nothing yeah like so you
can eat the same
as you did beforehand and just have a fucking milkshake or something and be like okay i'm golden
yeah so then after yeah what was your hunger like after that was it still increased or after
after what the beginning after having after having so holy shit was i thirsty like okay you
especially if you're breastfeeding you're you just cannot shovel enough water in your mouth.
You're like, please drown me in a tub of water so I can drink it all.
What about energy levels?
Is there anything like you have to increase your B vitamins or iron levels or anything like that?
I mean, yeah, you're fucking tired.
You're up every two to three hours.
It's exhausting.
So I didn't take like pre-workouts or
anything like that just like coffee coffee was like my go-to and i drank coffee during the
pregnancy so afterwards um it was fine because he was already used to it did you do research on that
about the coffee yeah pregnancy yeah a little bit i asked asked my doctor, too. I only ever drank, like, one cup a day.
Sometimes two if I was, like, really exhausted.
Is there, like, a limit on how much caffeine you should be having?
I think you shouldn't have more than two cups.
Because it's, like, you know, caffeine's addicting.
Some people say you shouldn't have any.
Yeah, I know.
Well, they can go fuck themselves.
Is that because you just don't believe that personally?
Yeah, personally, I don't believe it.
And Bodhi's fine.
Yeah, he's fucking great.
Are you kidding me?
I saw him.
He looked like he had a cup of coffee.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
He had some strong coffee.
Yeah, no, I think it's absolutely normal, especially if it's a part of your routine.
And if you do research on coffee and caffeine in general,
they say it's really great for preventing Alzheimer's and stuff like that.
Oh, yeah.
I have a whole show on caffeine.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So I think like.
I just don't know a whole bunch about it like during pregnancy.
I know that people in the gym are like, oh, I can't have coffee.
Like Stacy, my physical therapist, she like.
She didn't do it, right?
She had decaf.
Oh, okay.
Which still has caffeine.
Oh, does it? It's like five to ten milligrams it's very very small okay um and which is the first time i ever had a decaf coffee in my life yeah i was like hey do you want a coffee i texted her
and she's like yeah get me a decaf latte and i was like a decaf huh interesting it was like midday
and i was like i'm gonna try one so i got i was like two decafs you know like i yeah i think I remember like the last time I saw you, we went to go get coffee and you were like, let me get a decaf.
And I'm like, who the fuck are you?
Well, like now I can drink more coffee.
Yeah.
Like later in the day and feel okay about it.
So I have my morning like regular cup and I have a decaf now.
And I'm like, oh, this is actually, it doesn't taste any different.
Yeah, yeah.
But I have recently read some things about the way that they process the beans is like not okay.
Yeah.
So now I have to do a little bit more research and I'm going to figure this out.
That's a whole other discussion.
Why does all the research conflict each other?
I don't like it.
I know.
Everyone's like, this is great.
No, you're going to die.
I know.
Actually, you're going to die in about five seconds.
Three, two, one.
Literally, everyone needs to chill the fuck out.
I know.
It's too much.
Just live. Just's too much.
Just live.
Just live your life.
Honestly, I think the most important thing to take away from this is everything in moderation, right?
Yeah. So if you're going to have coffee during your pregnancy, have a cup and be okay with it.
It's not going to do anything crazy to you.
Side note, how horny were you so back to the
horniness yeah um god yeah like it's insane like you just especially like being like a single mom
like i was lonely you know i'm not gonna lie i was fucking really lonely and uh i'm not gonna
lie i watched porn i was like yeah i got into that shit. I was like, I need something to happen for me right now.
Let's get this going.
This one looks good.
Yeah.
This guy's good.
Yeah.
So, I mean, like, it didn't last, though.
I'm picking up what you're putting down.
Once I got into the third trimester, I was so uncomfortable that I was, like, not even into it.
It's the second trimester so anyone out there who
has a wife that's pregnant and is going to be entering the second trimester take a full advantage
of the second trimester because the third one you want nothing to do yeah the third one you're like
so uncomfortable because you're like huge now like i i'm a pretty like agile like mobile person like
i always have been and in my third trimester i felt like a
fucking whale trying to get out of bed i was like oh my god i had to literally like kick my legs to
the side to get out of bed like it was insane i'm like i feel like an old fucking person right now
they're gonna be knocked up when she's on top she's like don't look at me i'm disgusting yeah
and he's like i don't want to fuck you because like i'm gonna poke the baby pick the baby
yeah yeah which obviously doesn't happen but um i wouldn't know yeah but uh well i wouldn't know either because
there was no sexual intercourse during my pregnancy so um so yeah no i think uh
that definitely happens like your your hormones are just fucking raging during that time and it's actually i i actually
read up on it and it's good to have orgasms during your pregnancy like i forget why but i just
remember being like okay this is good yeah and it feels good too so there you go always yeah if you
guys actually listen to my question and answer podcast the q a there was a very uncomfortable moment where I was talking about having sex in my office.
This may or may not be the person on the show that I was talking about.
We may or may not have gotten caught.
You should listen to that.
Have you listened to that episode?
No, I didn't.
That's hilarious.
I'd have to listen to it.
It's like we were behind the door.
Yeah, very scandalous.
Yes.
I mentioned it, and I was very uncomfortable uncomfortable and I was by myself on the podcast and it
was a very interesting time.
Wow.
So anyway.
Reminiscing.
Yeah.
So many good things on the episode, right?
I didn't even know until just now.
Yeah.
So I am very proud of you right now for one, being a mom holding it down um you know telling the world
to go fuck themselves when they when they need it yeah as i did in my past yeah um and then now
you're grinding away you have the app you're such a knowledgeable woman so i think you have a lot of
great stuff to tell the world and yeah you have all of your stuff recorded for your pre and post
natal stuff it's all in the app i just found out you have a kettlebell thing, which I love.
Yeah, I'm obsessed with it.
Like, I just love it.
And actually, right now, like, I'm doing, like, a challenge out there.
It's free.
A free challenge?
Yeah, anyone that wants to join in, they can just do it.
I mean, you're not going to get anything out of it other than, like, a sick fucking body
and, you know strength gains endurance gains
uh 100 kettlebell swings for 100 days oh yeah and they can be any any style so like i'm always
switching it up we're all like incorporate them into like the workout that i'm already doing
or sometimes i'll just do them straight through and uh i was actually gonna do that soon yeah
because my 50 swings a day has been popping. Yeah. Maybe we can combine forces on the 100 swings.
Yeah, for sure.
Did you already start it?
Yeah, I started it, but, I mean, anyone can do it at any time.
I started it when there was exactly 100 days left within the year.
But, I mean, you can do it if you want to do it now.
Like, you know, who's going to stop you?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Like, jump on the train.
I'm always, like, reposting people because people will, like, tag me in their stories of doing it.
And it's in my highlights, like, people doing it, you know, and I think it's really awesome.
Like, it's one piece of equipment.
And to be honest, like, from doing it myself, I've already noticed a significant difference in, like, my endurance during my workouts and my strength.
So I think it's really great overall even if like you are uncomfortable like going to the gym or you
don't know what the hell you're doing start out doing this like 100 swings for 100 days here's
what people need to realize though is it needs to be a heavy kettlebell yeah well yes and no for 100
swings maybe not yeah for the 50 swings that we used to do back in the day well Well, say if you're going to do Russian, then yeah, make it heavy.
Yes.
If you're going to go American above your head, like I would keep it fairly moderate.
But even for 100 swings, I feel like you should only have to put that down like maybe three to four times at most.
Yeah.
Well, so I only have one kettlebell at home right now.
It's 25 pounds.
And I've done 100 unbroken with it before.
It's pretty gnarly
but yeah for sure but i mean what a great workout but you're getting a better workout
going 100 unbroken with that than like probably if you had a 35 and you broke it up four times
right right because you are smashing your heart rate and you're getting this thing called
post-exercise oxygen consumption right right right and you're that's what basically burns
cut for hours after you're done working out.
And that's why HIIT training is so rad.
Right.
But yeah, I love that because the 50 swings a day has always worked out really well for
me in the past.
Go 100.
Go 100.
But I get videos of people all over the world that probably had at least 50 countries do
that.
Yeah.
I was actually thinking about doing that one again.
Yeah.
And I was thinking about 100 swings.
Change it up.
Do it.
It's interesting.
But I want to have
some sort of challenge
associated with it as well.
And do you know
the Kettlebell Kings Company?
No.
I should introduce you to them.
Okay.
They hook me up
with kettlebells
and like they give me
discount codes.
Nice.
And they have a whole
Instagram just kettlebell oriented.
Okay.
And they're really, really cool.
And they do stuff with like Marcus Philly and different people that I've had on the show.
Yeah, cool.
They're an awesome brand.
I actually like them right now more than I like Rogue.
Nice.
Yeah, I have to check them out.
They're like kettlebell specific.
Hook it up.
Hook it up.
Okay.
So you have all these things going on.
Where is like all the best places everyone can find you, reach out to you?
And they're going to get you, right?
Like, no one else.
Oh, no.
I don't have a fucking assistant, okay?
Yeah.
Like, this is real life, people, okay?
I don't have an assistant either.
I don't have an assistant.
It's just me, myself, and I.
I'm doing all of the talking.
Like, we can hop on a phone call.
We can hop on FaceTime.
We can do whatever.
Like, you can see that it's me if you don't believe me. But, yeah, so best way to contact me is through my DMs
because I check all my DMs and I respond to pretty much all of them.
If it's a stupid fucking question or you're just, like, being an asshole,
like, I'm not going to answer you.
Dick pic?
Yeah.
It's been a while.
You might respond.
It's been a while, yeah.
So don't tempt me, guys. don't tempt me guys don't tempt me
slide into that DM
or you can email me
nikirikalenard
at gmail.com
it's a little bit of a mouthful
so if you don't remember that
just go to my website
nikirikafit.com
and contact me through the contacts tab that, just go to my website, NikkiRicaFit.com, and contact me through the contacts tab.
So if they go to your website, they can access the app, correct?
They can, actually.
They can access the app through there, or I have the link already in my bio on Instagram.
It's NikkiRicaFitApp.com.
Okay.
Yeah.
Is that where most of your business is right now is on that app?
Yeah.
Is it like a 12-week program?
Is that what I saw?
So there's a 12-week regular program, and then the prenatal program is also linked into there, and it's six weeks long.
Okay.
Yeah.
And if anyone out there is really new to fitness too, you can use the prenatal program as a beginner's guide,
like a beginner's workout, and then hop into the
regular programming on the app.
And then just to clarify, the only equipment that they need?
Is a set of dumbbells, a set of kettlebells, and a jump rope.
Okay, that's always good.
Yeah.
Very inexpensive.
Yeah.
All right, is there anything else you'd like to tell the world?
That's it, really.
Just like, you know, keep doing what you're doing. Try and follow people that are actually real and will tell the truth. It it really just like uh you know keep doing what you're doing try and follow
people that are actually real and will tell the truth hard to do i know it's super hard um i
especially this day and age like everybody you know social media influencer is like a title now
you know so public figure is the public figure correct term no yeah no i'm a mom i'm a mom, I'm a coach, and I am a wannabe athlete.
Which I think is fine.
Yeah, it's totally cool.
I played sports all my life.
I have a lot of knowledge when it comes to fitness.
And when it comes to eating, too, I'm more of an intuitive eater,
and that's what I teach my clients.
Because I think the whole thing around, and there's nothing wrong with counting macros but I think it can also ultimately form
unhealthy habits because people get so obsessed with how many calories they're consuming in a day
when I think it's just the quality of food that you should be focusing on I've never been a fan
of counting and everyone gives me shit for it but I've never done it I don't you and I are both
probably the leanest people on this show of all time.
I know.
I just had a baby and I'm fucking back to my normal.
I lost 1% body fat since we've talked.
Yeah.
Since the episode started, I've gotten a little bit leaner.
He actually has his shirt and his pants off right now.
I already started with no pants on.
Yeah.
Just to clarify.
Well, guys, I really hope you guys like this
episode. It's personal to me because it's someone I do care about and I cared a lot
more about in the past. Not that I don't now. That was weird. That was awkward. No, but
seriously, I'm excited to have you on the show. I am proud of you for everything that
you've done. We had a lot of laughs, got a lot of knowledge out there. I think it's a great episode.
I think anybody who is in their car right now on the way to work is like, fuck, I'm so happy I pressed play.
Yeah, I think so too.
I enjoyed it.
I'm really glad we got to do this.
It's been a long time.
Haven't seen you in like a year.
So when I heard you were coming, I was like, I'm so excited.
I'm still short and stocky.
I didn't get any taller.
We're still the same height.
It's fine.
My hair is slightly cooler. That's about it.
Yeah.
This podcast actually was all about Ryan,
not about me.
Oh.
JK, JK. Love you.
Alright, guys.
I love you and I will see you next
Tuesday on the Girl Talk Podcast.
Nikki, Rika,
and Ryan Fisher, over and out.
Peace.
