Shrugged family, this week on Barbell Shrugged, we are talking to one of the strongest human
beings, strongest female, strongest ladies that's ever walked on the face of this earth,
Hunter Elam, which is super cool because Travis used to coach her on her rise up.
Now she is down in Miami and it's been very cool to watch her.
I think one of the biggest things you're going to get out of this is understanding the commitment
level it takes to be world class at something.
I actually love her perspective in this show on just all the sacrifices that she has to make and understanding.
She just moved to Miami and it would be very easy to get caught up in that scene and in everything that she has going on through social media.
Just the amount of attention that is on her training at Steffi Cohen gym, which is like one of the more famous gyms in the country.
And on top of that, just managing all of it, being a girl in her 20s and staying focused.
I think it's something that we all need to pay attention to is the ability to stay focused
and our pursuit of being great at something that we do.
That's what I learned.
I enjoy talking to her.
I've trained, I've lifted, I've talked a bunch of crap.
I was actually at MASH this one time
and she snatched the same amount of weight as me
and put more pressure on me to lift a heavy barbell.
But that was also the last time I snatched 232 pounds,
which is like one of the coolest things ever.
But if I hadn't, trust me,
Hunter Elam would have lifted
more than me that day. Friends, this is Hunter Elam. Before we get into the show, I want to thank
our sponsors. The coolest of all time sponsors has just joined the show. Sleep 8. If you know

Bye, optimizers.
If there's one thing you should be worried about,
you are not getting enough of, it's enzymes.
Enzymes are the workhorses of digestion. They break down your food into usable macro and
micronutrients. Nearly everyone lacks digestive enzymes, and that's why we suffer from digestive
issues like bloating and digestion and gas. You are not what you eat. You are what you digest.
We lose enzymes as we age. So if you don't have enough enzymes, you might
only be absorbing 40% of the foods you're eating. What a waste. There are two big problems here.
Most digestive enzymes are cheap and ineffective, and most do not have enough protease for digesting
healthy, high-protein diets. That's why I'm excited to tell you about a new enzyme product
called Masszymes. Masszymes is the most complete, most potent digestive enzyme I've ever seen or experienced, with over 102% more protease than
the nearest competitor, and 300 to 500% more per serving than most popular brands. That's crucial
because protein is the most complex macronutrient to break down. undigested protein putrefies in the gut and creates a
variety of problems from bloating to inflammation and beyond shrugged listeners you are able to
experience the lowest pricing for our audience guaranteed and it's the best deal available on
this product seriously with volume discounts combined with our 10% coupon code SHRUG, you can save up to 28% off select packages of Masszymes.

Welcome to Barbell Shrugged. I'm Anders Varner, Doug Larson, Coach Travis Mash, Hunter Elam,
national champion. Is there any more picture?
Is there any picture in the world that gets overplayed more than Travis MASH
constantly putting that freaking video after you do all the work
and all he does is post a picture of you and he's arms up like he did something.
He did nothing.
He cried.
He cried that day.
There were tears shed that day from Chavis Mash.
I wish they could see the other side of that picture where, like, you actually lifted.
I'm actually doing the thing.
That's unbelievable, right?
Yeah.
Actually, in a minute, I want to get, like, your background, people that don't know who you are and all that in a second.
But then I want to hear why the tears were there in the first place.
Like, what's the background for the tears?
Sure, sure.
Wait, for people that don't know you, like, give us your quick background.
Okay.
Hi.
Hello. I'm Hunter Elam. I'm an Olympic weightlifter. that don't know you, give us your quick background. Okay, hi, hello.
I'm Hunter Elam.
I'm an Olympic weightlifter.
Oddly enough,
we're at a CrossFit event.
I got into Olympic weightlifting
through CrossFit,
but when I say that,
like, it was,
I mean,
I think I did it
for two to three months
type of thing,
and I was just going
every single day
and honestly just complained
about having to do CrossFit.
Like, why do we have to run a mile before I get to, like, snatch?
Like, I don't understand.
Why can't I just snatch?
And why do I have to snatch, like, 15 times at a really light weight?
You know what's funny?
If only there was a sport where I could just do one rep at a time of just snatches.
You went through, like, what took me 12 years to get sick of was the conditioning part
and the CrossFit part.
And then it was like, oh, I can just lift?
Cool.
Yeah, I think it's because I came in every day and I complained so much that someone,
literally a guy came up to me and said, hey, like, instead of bitching about CrossFit,
like, why don't you just do Olympic weightlifting?
It's a sport in the Olympics, and all you get to do is snatch and clean and jerk.
The very next day, I stopped CrossFit, and I've done weightlifting ever since.
Like, I haven't done a Metcon or something ever since then.
I love that because Annie Sakamoto is right there and she
has done probably 20,000
Metcons in her life. Yeah, respect.
She did the very first Metcon.
And she's still
smashing it. She's so
yoked. Were you
naturally pretty good from day one as far as
general mobility and strength?
It all made sense? Yeah. Mobility was there like i never had an issue getting into any kind of position
i was strong yeah i'm hyper mobile um like i remember doing my first competition it was like
um it was either an oklahoma state competition or some i was trying to qualify for an event
and i snatched 80 kilos yeah which is looking yeah like right like right out of it. So looking back now that I kind of know.
What body weight was that at?
At the time, it was a 63 because they had the old weight classes.
Okay.
So I was a 63.
And like at the time, I didn't realize.
Now that I know like numbers and all of that, I'm like that was pretty good for not, you know what I mean?
That's pretty good.
Most people chase a body weight snatch for a long time.
Yeah, no, exactly.
You were body weight in the third from day one.
Out of the gate, yeah.
Yes. Wait, did you lift weights at all a bodyweight in the third from day one. Out of the gate, yeah. Yes.
Wait, did you lift weights at all, like, prior to walking into a random CrossFit gym?
Yeah, so I played soccer, basketball track, and, like, during those times.
Fast people.
Fast twitch muscle.
There it is.
Yeah, fun fact.
My race was the 300-meter hurdles.
Wait, you hurdled?
I hurdled.
300-meter hurdles.
That's a big leap.
Wait, how tall are you?
Yeah, 5'3". That's, like, half body weight each time, or half hurdled. 300-meter hurdles. That's a big leap. Wait, how tall are you? Yeah, 5'3".
That's like half body weight each time, or half body height.
Yeah.
Every time.
That was pretty good, like one state type of stuff.
Like, it was my race.
There you go.
But so through that, they would make you go in and back squat,
like not properly.
You know what I mean?
Like stuff like that.
Like bench.
Not a real bench.
Bench is great for track.
Yeah.
It was just kind of like, oh, okay, we're going to lift today.
Here's what we're going to do.
The coaches didn't actually know at the time what high school stuff like that.
Oklahoma's put out some badass weightlifters.
Who else?
Shane Hammond.
Oh, Shane Hammond.
Shane Hammond.
Okay, okay, okay.
He still holds records to this day, doesn't he?
That's what happens when you show up and you already squat 1,000 pounds. Yeah. You just roll right into it. Just a bit, okay. He still holds records to this day, doesn't he? Yes. Well, always. That's what happens when you show up and you already squat 1,000 pounds.
Yeah.
You just roll right into it.
Just a bit, yeah.
But she's good, too.
For sure.
Oklahoma.
Wait, back to why are you shedding tears at the national championship?
Why was that so meaningful for you?
Well, I mean, bring it up.
So we went there.
This was at the AO3 or something, right?
It was to qualify for the Worlds.
So think about this.
An athlete comes to you, and they're like, you know, I want to be Team USA.
I'll make the Olympics.
And so that happened a lot.
Back then, I feel like someone showed up at Match League every other day.
Like, I want to be Team USA.
Yeah, and I'm like, sure you do.
Here's the meat grinder I'm going to put you through for the next three months
before you move home.
She came and she started.
She was definitely good.
For a long time, Don did most of her coaching.
She got mad one day at the American Open.
So I started coaching her, and then we went on a good path.
So we're at this ao2 and we're going
there the only goal is team usa hold on you're living out so much i mean there's a lot there's
so much so i had just dropped a weight class to do this too yes and we didn't have a lot of time
so i made a coaching switch like so i was like don okay like here's the deal like i can't i don't
have a long time to like be the lifter you want me to be. Like, I need this, like, quick.
Like, I need it now.
I have to get stronger really quick.
And I also have to cut, like, a weight class.
Two weight classes.
I cut two weight classes.
So all of that happened.
And then it was like, okay, now we have to go and make this team.
We're going to go.
So we're definitely in good shape.
So we go to this meet and, like, the snatch.
It didn't go well. I think you only got one snatch or something. I think I to this meet and, like, the snatch.
It didn't go well.
I think you only got one snatch or something.
I think I – yeah, I think it was just one.
Yeah, I went two for six that meet. So, like –
And won the national championship.
Great job.
Well, I think we made a team.
All right.
So we got a tough one now.
So we know what we need to make Team USA.
And, like, we just said we're opening with that.
What's the point?
Yeah. You know, there's, you just said, we're opening with that. What's the point? Yeah.
You know, there's, you know, no point in this one number.
So, it was their –
It was a PR.
It was 121, right?
Yeah.
It was her lifetime PR opener to make Team USA.
Well, it gets worse.
So, her last two warm-ups, she missed badly.
Like, it wasn't like a kind of fluke on the jerk i mean it was like not
even close it wasn't even close i think it's my last three attempts i think you're right yeah i
think maybe i'll shed one out of my memory wait what was it like like walking out to the platform
after missing three attempts like you're just like fucking oh my god is your life crumbling
in your head or are you like like sucking it up what are you doing it honestly wasn't so
at the time and i remember people being around like at this time everybody had was like done lifting and it was
like oh like hunter hasn't opened yet like what is she doing this is crazy everyone's in the back
just watching me like miss like brutally and they're just like okay they're like they are
crazy like she's crazy what is she doing like she's not opening yet and i'm just like yeah no
whatever it's fine like i'd rather miss it back here than out there. So I'm just
going to get these misses out of the way, and then
I'm going to go out there, and I'm going to make what I need to
when it counts. You're fine.
I believe you. You're a gamer. And then she
was walking in front of me. I'm like, oh, my God.
Yeah, I looked at him once, and I said, hey,
are we doing this? And he said,
yeah, we're doing this. I'm like, okay.
Yeah. Yeah, because she missed it, and she looked
at me, and I'm like, she's like, are we doing this? He was like, fine. I'm like, we're good. Yeah. And inside, I'm like, okay. Yeah. Because she missed it. She looked at me and I'm like, she's like, are we doing this?
He was like, fine.
I'm like, we're good.
Yeah.
And inside I'm like, we are screwed.
We are so screwed.
This is going to be really bad.
So she goes out there and I'm just like, in the background, I'm walking around like this.
Not looking.
He's not looking.
He's down like this.
I'm hidden behind a pole or something.
And like all of a sudden, she, like, catches a clean.
It can only go two ways, right?
It can only go.
You're either going to be the genius.
Yeah.
Or the fool.
Or the complete idiot.
Everybody in the.
Like, not only did you not make the team.
But you also bombed in front of everyone.
Everyone.
And now only people are going to.
People are like, he's going to get her hurt.
You know, he's crazy.
So, and then she stood up with a clean, which is better than when it happened.
And I'm like.
All right.
Now we got a chance.
I'm like, I don't know.
Honestly, to this day, don't know.
That jerk drove her so low.
Like her knee had to be this far off the ground.
And she came up with it.
To this day is the greatest.
I should have retired.
Right then and there, I should have walked away.
Yeah, it was like an overhead lunge.
It was just great.
Team USA, was that always the goal?
Like, when you showed up, it was like, I can do that?
Well, when I showed up, like, I didn't think.
It's like world team, right?
Yeah, so world team.
And then it was like, we're crunching numbers.
We're kind of looking at stuff.
And I was like, hey, like, maybe we should think a little more past just making, like, teams here.
Like, you might have a shot at the Olympics if you can keep this up.
So we kind of started, like, looking at that.
But obviously, first step to do that is to, like, keep making teams.
Yeah.
And keep going to, like, these international competitions and scoring points.
I made, like, every team after that.
Are you trying to go to the Olympics?
Well, it's a whole other thing, this quad, because they just changed weight classes changed weight classes yeah so where are you going it's either 59 or 71 are my options um but
honestly that's a jump that's a jump that's a jump so the 59 cut go with the food go with the food
it was brutal for me back then like very brutal it was a lot so then it's like, okay, so 71. The disadvantage to going up to a 71 now,
it's like the first qualification event for this quad will be nationals,
which is in like six months.
Yeah.
No, that's the last qualifier for Pan Ams.
For Pan Ams.
So Pan Ams this year is not a qualifier for the Olympic quad.
So it's going to be nationals.
Well, that would mean that I would have to be a 71 in six months,
and then I need to put up like a 240-something total.
And it's the hardest class in America.
It's the, yeah, the hardest class.
And so I'm competing against these girls who have been 71 plus for three years now.
Where it's like, one, that's a lot of weight to put on quick.
Like if I'm going to do that, I would like to do it the right way you know like there's two different there's like yeah okay
could i wake up you know could i be a 71 by then absolutely but is it gonna do me yeah like a lot
of good where are you where are you leaning towards now going down no i'm probably just
gonna say 64 like the class still exists it's just not an olympic class so she makes she can
so i mean i can keep making teams i can keep like you know advancing my career in the sport I'm just going to say 64. The class still exists. It's just not an Olympic class. So she can easily do well.
So, I mean, I can keep making teams.
I can keep advancing my career in the sport,
knowing at the end of the day, like, yeah, it's not an Olympic class.
If it stays in the Olympics through 2028, then I would make the jump and go 71.
But I would do that over like a three-year span.
Now, there is a chance at 64.
She does really well at 64.
I can take my total up.
Yeah, she can take her Roby points up.
And so, could conceivably
if all of a sudden towards the end
she starts catching or beating these girls
meanwhile she's got these
Roby points coming up.
So that would be a way she could, and plenty of girls
made the team, and boys, last time
by doing that very thing.
So last squad it was even easier, though,
because you could take your total down.
So you could be a 64 and take that total down to a 59.
Can you do that now?
Now you can't take it down.
You can only take it up.
Which kind of does nothing.
Yeah.
All this is up against such strong people.
Yeah.
This is all specific to the Olympics, though.
This is not the world championships and everything else.
She can make the world.
I can make, yeah.
And she will. So international teams, International teams aren't out of the question.
It's just staying at 64,
it's not an Olympic class.
That class isn't there to make
for 2024.
They've really made it. It's going to be wild this time.
Thinking about all the people that that's
going to push together.
That 71 class even just within
US is going to be wild. It's going to be brutal.
You know what hurts America is, like,
pretty much every single one of our top girls but one is in there.
Like, you, Maddie, Matt, and the other Maddie, and then Kay.
Kay.
All of them.
Meredith.
This other new girl.
Olivia.
Olivia.
There's a lot.
Yeah, Olivia, she's 18.
And strong.
Yeah.
I saw a video. She was back sweating 400 pounds for lot. Yeah, Olivia, she's 18. And strong. Yeah, I saw a video.
She was back sweating 400 pounds for five.
No belt, no sleeves, just, like, grinning the whole time.
Like, doesn't even look like it's heavy.
Madness.
We talked about that on the show not too long ago.
Many people may have not even heard that the Olympics are getting rid of weightlifting after 2024.
Well, it's not officially confirmed. Cool. Tell me me the whole story i don't know the exact whole story
i just know it's not officially confirmed so the whole point of doing it this year for 2024 is
it's like a probation thing so it's like okay can we put these things into play and then can
or will it make a difference if it does okay cool great it can stay in the olympics there's not
going to be as many pops you gotta you gotta then, yeah, we just lost our chance.
So it's like, okay, can we clean up the sport?
Can the IWF do what they're supposed to do?
No, I don't.
I think the other countries are too selfish.
Not after we saw what was happening.
When they made a documentary showing the inside, everybody,
as soon as you see it, you're like, oh, we're just never getting rid of drugs
because somebody has to design the test,
and that person is also the best person in the country to do it
that knows how to beat the test.
There's also rumors that they did this route
because you couldn't kick these people out of IWF.
So there's a chance that IOC could step in and, like, say, IWF is completely gone.
We'll run this show, and we'll put these things in place.
So there's a few things now that, you know, a prayer is just not looking pretty.
I want to – you just moved to Miami to hang out at Hybrid down here.
Yeah, so I lived here now for a year.
How do you like it?
Hanging out with Steffi every day?
What are you learning?
I'm learning
a lot so she's actually really into like boxing now too so she's in her own little world with
that whole that whole thing she has her trainer out in uh i don't even know where it is not coral
gables somewhere in here you see her training there yeah so they put a boxing ring like in the
gym um so a lot of like boxers like come through like a UFC fighter. I don't know his name.
Um, was in there the other day, like training.
Um, like there's boxers in and out the whole time. So it's kind of cool because it's like, it's a weightlifting gym.
It's a powerlifting gym.
It's a bodybuilding gym.
It's a boxing gym.
Like you have so many different, and like, you never know who's going to like come through
the gym.
You know what I mean?
Like one day.
Um, Oh wow.
Who's the NFL player?
I'm going like, uh, NFL player. Yeah. You just came in one day. Oh, wow. Who's the NFL player? I'm going like.
NFL player.
Yeah, you just came in one day.
I saw that.
I did see McGregor.
He went there a lot.
Did you ever.
I don't think I was there when you came out. Conor McGregor.
I thought I was in a long time ago.
Yeah, I was like.
Yeah, that's right.
Who else?
I don't.
No use to naming the other names, man.
Yeah, like you just never know who's going to like walk in the door.
You know what I mean?
And so, and I think that's super sick because you just get exposed to so many different
athletes and so many different people um and even
just outside of hybrid being in miami it's like kind of walking down the street you don't really
know who you're gonna see yes um so it's cool i like it it did take me a little while to get used
to it obviously like i'm from oklahoma and so it's like oklahoma miami is like two very different
places yeah for the first like six months i I was like, I hate this place.
Like I hate it.
And I almost felt like selfish saying that because it's like look around.
You're like on a beach.
The weather's incredible.
But honestly, the people here, different.
Yeah, you're in a different country.
Yeah, like you're in like – I don't feel like I'm like –
I feel like I'm living in a different country when I'm here.
You kind of are.
Yeah, and it's like not like that.
I don't think English is the first language here.
No, absolutely not.
That was the thing.
I would try to schedule doctor's appointments and hair appointments.
And I would call these places and they would speak to me in Spanish.
And I'd be like, oh, it's not like, no, habla espanol.
And they would just hang up on me.
Oh, okay.
I don't really know what to do from here.
This morning when I got coffee, the lady was like, Americano.
And I'm like, uh.
Oh, I think that one's pretty.
Is it like a normal coffee?
Oh, wait, no, an Americano is pretty, like, universal.
That's not it.
No, of course it is.
Like, it's a normal drink.
But normally, if you just, I just want coffee.
They don't pour you espresso.
Okay.
Like, you would normally just get a coffee.
No, there's, like, a Cuban coffee here.
It's really big.
That's awesome.
I love Cuban coffee.
So it's basically like you're at Pan Am Championships forever.
Forever.
Yeah.
I like that.
Yeah.
Now I appreciate it.
Once you get past, like, all of the craziness, then it's like, oh, okay, like, this place is.
Who do you train with down here?
Yeah.
I train a lot by myself.
It kind of, it's hit or miss.
So obviously it's like I i training is like my number one
priority yeah so i'm there at a certain time every day um outside of that it's like i have a few
training partners but again it's like hard because it's like their thing isn't weightlifting so i i
can't expect them to have the same commitment to weightlifting as me so i just like take what i
can for like who's there during the time is it you do one, two sessions? What does it look like now?
Monday, Wednesday, Friday, it's two sessions.
Tuesday, Saturday, single, rest, Thursday, Sunday.
Perfect.
How many other pure weightlifters are hybrid right now, like high-level people?
There's an up-and-coming guy, but he actually just moved.
Have you guys heard of Medina?
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, he's a super.
Yeah, he moved, like, 40 minutes away, so he's trying to get a different gym.
But I was shooting with him for a bit.
There's just some other cool people there, like Monty, Nate.
They're not well-known in the weightlifting community, but they're there,
and it makes it really fun.
But that's really about it.
There's not a lot of high-level weightlifters. It's too bad because it's so beautiful, the gym. Yeah, yeah, just, but that's really about it. Like, there's not a lot of, like, high-level weightlifters.
It's too bad because it's so beautiful, the gym.
Yeah, I know.
I just can't believe, yeah, it should be packed with weightlifters.
It should, yeah, definitely.
I'm low-key trying to get it to where it's more of a weightlifting gym than anything
else.
I'm like, oh, should we add, we should add more weightlifting platforms.
Like, that would be cool.
Yes.
Well, you're coaching now.
Let's get rid of that power rack.
Yeah.
Do you coach, you know, the people at Hybrid now or what?
So a lot of it's online.
I do have a few people that will come through the gym just as drop-ins,
but a lot of people aren't actually local.
So everything's through the Hybrid Strength Coach app, through the Discord,
and it's just remote coaching basically.
But if they're there, a lot of people want me to coach them at the Arnold.
But it's super conflicting also when you're a coach and an athlete and then you try to balance
the two at the same time um it's rough and I'm very upfront about the fact that like I'm still
an athlete first right um and just like trying to balance the two has been like difficult but I think
I'm doing pretty well at it but yeah it's like a lot of them like hey I'm going to the Arnold
like can you coach me there and I'm like I will coach you there as long as it's not during my session
or like the same day.
Yeah, that's still so distracting.
Worrying about other people when you're –
I feel like that's the whole point of being an elite athlete
is like getting everything away except what you need.
And everybody has to be on the team.
The coach in me just hates the fact that you might have to coach.
You have to be, like, incredibly selfish.
Yeah, and you're not going to be a good coach.
Yeah.
Because you're just going to be, like, thinking about, like,
I should be resting right now.
I got to make way.
Yeah, I got to do all this.
Yeah, so that's honestly been my, like, biggest challenge.
It's just like.
Do you think you'll continue?
Do you think coaching is your future or what?
I haven't decided.
I think it's what I want to do for a little bit,
but I honestly still see myself going back to school and doing my original plan.
Like nursing?
Yeah, I want to be a CRNA, so a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist.
Wow.
I've always wanted to do that.
I was in nursing school when I dropped out of nursing school to pursue weightlifting full-time.
You'll be the most famous nurse ever on the internet for sure.
What about your own brand?
Obviously, we all know that she's last year has exploded, two years.
I feel like we went to Mashley.
I snatched 232 because you were talking mad shit that day, by the way.
You were trying to chip me.
I'm looking at my wrist, dude.
You were like, I opened at that
and I was like
fuck I haven't
snatched that much
weight in a long time
I hope this works out
and I freaking
clarked like
98 or something
like that
and it was like
oh we got a long
ways to go
before 105
yeah shape up
it was really bad
yeah
so
but you're
yeah everything
that you
when we were there
it was like
50,000 people following you.
And I feel like I got home and there was 130.
It did seem like it was, like, overnight.
Holy crap.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, I'm not sure.
People ask me all the time, like, hey, like, what's the secret to, like, growing your –
and I'm like, honestly, like, I don't think there's any secret.
I think a lot of it comes down to, like, luck, honestly, and just being consistent with, like, what content you're putting out.
And then, like, really trying to get to know like your audience so it's like who primarily follows me
like who am i catering to like what are they like okay so if it's weightlifting it's like okay do
they want what kind of content do they just want to watch me lift like probably not what really
brings people back to your page is like stuff like if you see a post and you save it that means that
like they're engaging with what you like so it's like you know that they're liking your stuff.
So it gets to a certain extent where it's like, okay, so probably people just get tired of seeing you do the same thing, lifting and stuff.
So then you're just like, okay, well, let's make a mix of it.
They want to see, like, lifestyle.
They want to see you lift.
But then they also want to see you, like, how are you, like, furthering your career?
Like, what do you do in your day that, like, gets you better?
And it's just, like, showing more of that, I think. You've been doing day that like gets you better and it's just like
showing more of that i think you've been doing a good job yeah so it's just i don't know and people
want to like people want to be able to like relate to you so even at events like this if people come
up and they're like oh my god like hi and i'm like listen like i'm a super normal person that just
happens to have like some following on instagram but like it doesn't really mean anything but
people appreciate more like if you're authentic
and you're not trying to be someone that you're not and like come across as you yeah like you make
fun of yourself sometimes you laugh like and i like that um i and people have told me that before
they're like oh cool it's like refreshing to meet you in person to be able to like oh okay like
she's the same like she really is that yeah like, like, kind of, like, sarcastic, witty, whatever.
So, yeah, I don't know.
Now that you have – is it hard transitioning from a coach?
Like, you're not training with MASH anymore.
Are you on the second coach, or is this, like, your third,
fourth coach that you've tried to feel out?
Yeah, second.
Yeah.
We're jumping with – so, Spencer Arnold for, like, I don't know, 14 months now.
Not too long.
We just had our first competition together not that long ago.
Is it hard to get in a rhythm after working with somebody for so long?
Kind of, yeah.
I was doing my own thing for a little bit too.
Have you guys known Fernando?
Yeah, at Hybrid?
Yeah.
Giant human being.
Like a giant.
What does that guy's meal look like every six times a day? Yeah. Giant human being. Like, what does that guy's
meal look like every six
times a day? He's a big boy.
5,000 calories. Yeah, so I was
going to, like, kind of go that route and have him
coach me. Like, he ended up being, like, a
training partner of mine because he was at Hybrid.
And he was just so, like, motivating
every single day.
He honestly
taught me a lot about, like, treating weightlifting as, like,
a profession because it's, like, obviously it's, like, oh, yeah,
it makes sense it's your profession.
But it's really easy to get caught in the fact that, like,
you can go on every day and you're just, like, training.
But then you have to think about, like, no, like,
you need to treat this like you're a professional.
So, like, warming up with a bar every day, like, act like a professional.
Like, when you're taking your warm-ups, like, take them seriously.
Like, act like a professional. So that's that's like a one big thing that i took away
from him like when you're doing your accessories and your warm-ups like be a professional because
like if you want to be this like elite level professional athlete then you need to treat it
like that and for the longest time like i would just kind of go in there and train because it's
like oh i'm a weightlifter i have to train it's like, oh, I'm a weightlifter. I have to train. It's like, no, if you watch all these international lifters,
like you can tell they do something a little different,
like besides obviously steroids, but like they also like treat it.
They also treat it.
They do steroids like it's their profession.
Yeah, exactly.
Aside from that, they also treat the barbell,
like their movements just like they're a professional.
So that's one big thing I learned from him.
But unfortunately, like that situation didn't end up working out to where like he could
coach me um and so how has that mindset like transformed over the last call it year and a half
since you've been down here with them like what are you doing different i think i just try to go
on every like and i don't know if it's just, like, maturing. And, like, the more, like, the longer you're in the sport, the more you kind of realize, like, shitty days, like, happen.
Whereas before, it's like I used to go in and be like, oh, my God, like, I can't lift 85% today.
Like, where did all my strength go?
And it's like, okay, that's not how that works at all.
No more, like, meltdowns and practice lifts?
No, yeah.
It's just kind of like, yeah, I can be upset.
Like, oh, man.
That's actually why I stopped coaching. Travis just gave the biggest eye roll. like, yeah, I can be upset. Like, oh, man. That's actually why I stopped coaching.
Travis gave the biggest eye roll.
Like, fuck, I hate that shit.
Yeah, but you know, you had to talk me out the ledge so many times
with my weightlifting career.
I'm like, should I just retire?
And he's like, can you calm down?
Can you not be dramatic?
Just the way it goes.
Yeah, that in itself.
Just learning that just changed my whole mindset just when I train.
It's like, honestly, you're going to have more bad days than good days.
Like you just are.
When you are on that note about it being your profession, you were talking well of her last night,
saying that she does a very good job of mastering the mundane.
You have that concept.
Can you dig into that a little bit?
Well, you know, mastering the mundane is like I really stole it.
You know, there's the – I forget the guy.
Ryan Holiday.
He became the coach of the – is that Ryan Holiday?
The stoic guy.
The British cyclist guy.
Oh, no, no, no.
I thought you were talking about the stoic.
Yeah, go ahead.
It started way before that.
The British cycling was terrible.
So bad that people would not even sell them bikes
because they didn't want their bikes to be ridden by this terrible team.
So, like, this is a true story.
So they hired this coach, and then what he did is he looked at what they're doing.
He thought of all the little things that they could do to make a difference, like whether it's, like, making the bike lighter, the gears, the tires, the sleep, every little mundane thing.
So the 1% over that many things added up to be a lot.
So they were, for me, the worst team in the world.
Started winning not only the Olympics, but also the Tour de France.
So massive mundane means do the little things.
Sleeping right, eating right, are you recovering?
And so if you do all the, everyone trains.
Hold on a second, though.
You're, like, young and cool and good looking and in Miami.
And you're supposed to be living the dream and you're doing boring shit.
What in the world is wrong with you?
Yeah, no, I, that's very, it's very true.
And if you.
This is the most boring hunter what
are you doing in miami uh like sleeping and eating right no literally to a t i try to be at the gym
at seven and stretch and warm up i need at least 10 hours of sleep i yeah no it's really bad so
it's a running joke like i've been here for a year my friends will message me like yo like i'm coming
to miami like what are the six spots like what do what do I do? And I'm like, listen, I've been to one restaurant since I've been here.
I know.
I can tell you how to get the whole food.
I've been to the beach once.
Literally been to the beach once.
I like, yeah, I don't know the cool Miami things because I don't.
I went paddle boarding the other day and I was like super proud of myself.
I'm like, okay, like, cool.
I love it here.
I experienced this a few minutes ago I was like we're going to this cool Cuban restaurant for dinner like come hang out and I
was expecting you to be like oh yeah everybody goes there you got to go to that place and you
were like never heard of it nope I was like oh okay don't know what you're talking about
I'll take I'll take you I know Miami I Miami. One time she got into an argument with a couple of the other girls on the team.
Yeah.
And, like, I could see that things were happening.
So I got them all into, we went into, like, we had this little side room.
And I'm like, what's going on?
And so Hunter wouldn't go to a birthday party.
And I'm going to keep listening.
I'm like, because I know we're getting ready for the World Championships.
She's got to have her weight right.
So they were going over some
Saturday night, drinking, eating cake.
And Hunter was like, he said,
no, thank you. I don't want to go.
And they got mad at her for it. I said, so let me get this straight.
The one person
doing exactly what I've told
you it takes to become a World Team member,
she's doing it. And you're mad
because she's doing it. Yeah,'re mad because she's doing it.
They were like, you're such an awful friend. You're so
selfish. So I'm like, if I'm choosing, I'm
choosing her. And I'm like, I don't know what to tell
you. I told them. The party started at 9.
Okay, and I get... You were in bed at 9.
I'm in bed by 10.
You know what I mean? I can't eat cake.
I'm cutting. I can't drink.
I'll feel bad tomorrow.
It's a miserable place to go. I don't want... I'm tired. I just want drink. It's going to be a bad tomorrow. It's a miserable place to go.
I don't want to.
I'm tired.
I just want to recover.
I want to.
Yeah, and still to this day, that's me.
There's a lot of people that still don't understand it.
Even being in Miami, like, oh, let's go all these places.
And I'm like, so now people don't invite me to things.
They just know.
They're like, don't even ask Hunter.
She's not going to go.
It's so freeing when people stop inviting.
I know.
I'm like, no, there it is.
I'm fine. I totally had her back. I'm like, you guys can leave. She's staying. She's not going to go. It's so freeing when people stop inviting. I know. I'm like, oh, there it is. I'm fine.
I totally had her back.
I'm like, you guys can leave.
She's staying.
She's doing the right thing.
I just can't believe it.
So many times people are like, oh, I want to be a world team member.
I want to be an Olympian.
I hear this all the time.
I want to be an Olympian.
I want to be an Olympian.
And in the back of my mind, I'm laughing so loudly, you know,
because I'm like, do you know what that takes?
Number one, you better have some good mom and dad, which she does.
Yeah, I do.
She's got great genetics.
They're best.
But then you've got to have this mindset that's unlike, it's not normal, you know,
to be able to think that you can be better than everyone in the world.
It's not a normal thing.
It's hard to get there.
And then are you willing to sleep?
You also have to.
Not party.
You have to, like, make your own journey so hard to prove that you're worth it to yourself.
Yeah.
Sure.
By turning all the fun stuff down yeah yeah yeah and there i mean there's lots of times where i question and i'm like man is this like worth it like am i you know
it's like you go all this time sometimes you don't get the results that you want so it's like okay
like am i am i missing out on this time am i you know doing all this but at the end of the day like
there's still nothing else that I would rather be doing.
I don't think I'm going to look back and be like,
oh, I didn't get to go and get hammered
that night and feel like shit the next day.
I don't think that I will.
But we get to get hammered one time a year
after the World. And I go hard.
She does.
I have like three drinks.
No, no, no.
I don't remember the night.
I am plastered.
Yeah.
Turkmenistan was so much fun on the way home.
Right?
Yeah.
Yeah, I got hammered into Turkmenistan.
Are these stories that you can share?
No, yeah, I can share.
We're in the Turkmenistan airport waiting on the plane,
and we're all drinking with some Russian guys.
Remember that?
And as we're boarding, you know, so where were we flying to?
Turkey?
Istanbul.
And I'm like, if you don't keep drinking, I can't say it, but you're a sissy.
If you don't keep drinking.
I got you.
And, like, I get on the plane and go to sleep.
She took me by my word, drank the whole time from here to Turkey.
On the plane.
She gets off the plane, her hair is this big.
I remember, like, going against the wall and, like, walking to hair is this big so I literally I remember like
going against the wall
and like walking
to the wall
like I couldn't walk right
and I'm like man
this guy's just super sober
I felt great
yeah
I was like
oh you
you listened to me
oh man
yeah
it was awesome
yeah
but you know
so like
wouldn't you guys
anyone listening
who wants to be
do something great
it's a lot more fun to party after this big thing But, you know, so, like, wouldn't you guys, anyone listening who wants to do something great,
it's a lot more fun to party after this big thing of making a world championship than it is to go out every single night in Miami or, you know, Hickory or Winston-Salem back then.
It's so much more fun to accomplish that.
Yeah, and even leading on to that, like, just with sports, like mastering the mundane with sports,
it's like, okay, you have to do that too.
But I think something that, like like has helped me be an athlete
and go through all those things and transitioning into like getting into coaching
and stuff like that, it's like it's equally as important for you to do those things
as an athlete as it is when you start to do this like journey as a coach.
It's like anybody can wake up one day and be like, oh, okay,
like I want to be a coach, let's coach.
It's like, okay, well then like what continuing education are you committed to doing like are you committed to like
going out and learning from all these other people who have been in this situation and
you've taken their careers so it's like being an athlete has taught me so many things that i'm just
going to be able to carry with me like throughout yeah my like entire life if i choose to go back
to school it's like okay so this is what I'm committing to doing I have to do everything outside of that just to make sure that I can be the best at whatever it
is that I'm doing yeah and I think being like the whole weightlifting thing has like you know like
engraved that in me throughout all these other journeys that I'm like going through as well so
it's like it's it was more to me than just like a sport like it's really taught me how to grow as a
professional how to grow as like a person how to make sure that i'm challenging myself like every day to like be
better at whatever it is i want to be better at and like all the other outside things it's like
yeah you need to you need to split the time you have to enjoy things but it's like at the end of
the day if you if you enjoy doing those things and it's like you're doing what you want to do and you
can't you know what else can you like what else can you want you get to lift weights every day yeah how involved are
you in your own program are you do you see it come across you just guaranteed i'm gonna hit all those
reps do that work or are you pretty involved in like how you feel each week the feedback side of
like yeah um so with my if you were to lay out your program, could you just recite everything
or do you just follow it right along?
No, honestly, and that's really – I mean, a big thing that I really like
is like RPE training because it's like you never know.
Like your one rep max can vary so many – like so much.
Like a 10% difference like given whatever it did.
15 up or down.
15 up or down every single day.
It's a 30% swing.
So like how silly is it like some arbitrary number that you're going to come in,
it's like, oh, I'm going to lift 94% today.
It's like, okay, so what are you basing that off of?
Like the one day that you felt incredible and you snatched 100?
Well, man, like you've trained four times this week,
and you didn't get really good sleep that night.
Like realistically, is your one rep max still that today?
No.
So it's like you can't expect to be like, oh, well, I have to hit this today.
And if I don't, then, you know, I'm not strong enough to hit 94%.
Like that's silly.
So, no, it's like it's very like being in tune with like how your body is feeling
and like knowing like, man, like I'm pretty fatigued this week.
So it's like that number right there.
Like, yeah, I might not hit that today.
So instead of trying to do that, going up and like missing it, it it it's like okay let's scale it back a bit so 94 so say okay that's like maybe
like rpe eight okay well whatever percentage that is that day work up to that and you know it's the
same as if you were to work up to the 94 is that what you do you guys do the spencer do rpe no he
doesn't but that's like when I see my program.
Yeah.
And I see like a number and I'm like, okay, like, man, this week I'm a little bit more tired.
I'm not going to like put myself through something as taxing as hitting something when it's just going to fatigue me even longer.
It's like, so then I can't come in the next day because I sold my soul to hit this arbitrary number arbitrary number like no I'm gonna I'm gonna leave
a bit in the tank you're still getting the same like stimulus so you can come in the next day
and that that's what progresses your training so you're going back to like maturing as an athlete
like that's something I realized as well it's like you don't have to go in and hit these numbers
written on a program every day it's like the absolute best athletes do what she's saying yeah
like be smart like be in tune with your body like be realistic and it's okay to like and don't get so wrapped up on like these
certain numbers it's like yes that is your one rep max and it's cool to go off of stuff like that
like it's a good like starting point but it's not like the end all be all and that it varies like
you said like up or down 50 like yeah yo being in being in a weight lap a weight class sport how
are you managing your your body weight body fat percentage uh nutrition macros etc% like a day. Yo, being in a weight class sport, how are you managing your body weight, body fat percentage, nutrition, macros, et cetera, like on a day-to-day basis?
Well, so competing against a 59, it was like super tough.
Like I had to be completely dialed in like every single day.
Like there wasn't a lot of room for like error.
There wasn't a lot of room for anything.
Going up to like a 64, like my body just naturally like if i didn't do anything
like if i just kind of like ate mindfully like i don't have to track or anything like my body
would just stay at 65 so i'm like i'm like at weight and i don't really have to do anything
i just don't have to eat like an asshole you know what i mean like i don't like i don't have to like
i just be in tune like eat mindfully um and stuff like that so this weight class is really good for
me in that sense like i don't have to track every little thing that i eat um and i don't have to
obsess over you know i don't know like i can i can enjoy myself some like that doesn't mean i go out
eat like yeah you know um like yeah there was a group of you that went a little crazy yeah no for
a few months no yeah and that's what cutting like that did to me.
I was like, you restrict yourself for so long that you make weight, you compete.
And then it's like all of this food that I didn't get to eat, I'm just going to eat for the next like three months.
And then you're five kilos heavy and you have to cut again.
It's like, okay, so that's not it.
Like let's find a way where we can maintain, be able to enjoy ourselves, not be so
restrictive and so obsessive about
these certain macros. It's the same
concept with the training.
It's like you get so
wrapped around these numbers and stuff when it's like
just be a little bit more in tune.
Yeah, do your thing.
There was a time in our gym where I knew
she was strong and athletic, but I
did not see her as what she was
about to become but the minute we decided to make this cut to 64 I believe at that moment in your
life something changed it was like you all of a sudden were just like so strict and like you
wasn't the same person like you know I just I don't know what maybe it was my fault maybe because
you were training Madonna subconsciously I was annoyed I didn't like what, maybe it was my fault, maybe because you were training Madonna subconsciously.
I didn't like that.
Maybe.
But when you made that decision, you were so strict.
And the way you went about it, she was like dialed in.
She went from being, you know, because there was a time a few of them were just going out to eat all the time.
I hung out with a bunch of big boys.
Boys.
Who went to Meave and got freaking Domino's pizza every night.
Every night.
Different goals.
I lived in a two-bedroom apartment with four guys.
Yes.
And so I ate.
Four guys doing that.
I was just like, dude.
And so I think I got up to 71 kilos.
So 71 cut to 64.
I was there for a little bit, and then I made the 64 to the 59.
That's a big, big jump.
We should cut from 71 to 64.
She set not only the Lifetime PR cleanser, but Lifetime PR total.
And we had a snatch.
She could snatch 100 kilos at the time.
So she got stronger.
Everything got better.
And she, as a human, changed.
And that never went backwards.
And it was a cool.
I think that's probably.
When you think about, like, the crying.
Yeah, all that happened, what I told you, the misses.
But then I also saw the evolution of an athlete.
You know, someone comes to you.
They put their career in your hands.
And so some people take it seriously.
Some people don't.
And I do.
But I saw it.
I saw it happen.
From zero to zero, I watched it.
So I think that's what happened.
Yeah.
I was a proud coach.
What do you got next coming up right now?
What's the next event and the next, like, big major event?
So the Arnold, first week of March.
I'm going to do that.
I'm not going to try to to try to do anything there.
I want to go and hit a pretty good total.
Six for six kind of day.
So like I said, it's a Pan Am qualifier.
But the Pan Ams doesn't count for anything.
So it's like, you know.
Really?
It counts as in like you get to go to Pan Ams, but it's not an Olympic qualifier.
So it's like i'm not gonna like
you know and that's in seven weeks so it's like the total for the 64 class also with everything
being changed the 64 class is now like the hardest class like i the 64 is almost essentially have to
total two kilos less than the 71 no way yeah it's like almost the same yeah um but it ends up like
their total ends up going up and it kind of ends up being a little bit more even when it comes to like worlds um so the the you know the
playing feels a little more even but for panams it's just like there's no point so i'm just i
just want to go there yeah um hit a good total after that then i will be training for nationals
and by nationals like i would that's where i'm gonna like i would like to make a run for like
making blow it up. Yeah.
Back in the same position.
Here we go.
You got best lifter there last year or the year before?
2019.
Two years ago?
Yeah, I don't remember.
One got canceled.
2019, the pandemic happened.
She won the 59s at nationals and she best lifter.
Oh, yeah.
The next one was an online one.
I remember they had to do an online national.
So I didn't do that one.
Yeah, she started tearing it up.
From that moment, she started just – she did really well.
She killed it.
We made the decision, you know, to go to 59 because she had a chance at the Olympics.
She did really well.
So we made a good run, especially, I think, you know, in that quad.
I don't know if I can get excuses for her, but she was the only girl that was brand new.
Like all those girls that had been there and, like, done a thing.
Yeah.
Quite before, she just stepped on the scene and crushed it.
Yeah, I definitely remember people, like, coming up to me and being like,
oh, who are you?
Yeah, exactly.
I'm like, oh, I'm Hunter Elam.
Yeah.
I'm like, hi.
Nice to meet you.
People even said, I've never told her this, but, like, after that,
because, you know, it was a Hail Mary
right
you know they're like
you know
you know she's not
going to be on another
team after this
inside
as you all know
when they say that to me
I am on fire
and I
all I can see is like
thinking about
cutting their throat
and drinking their blood
Jesus
I love you Matt
she made every team
drink their blood
I was so mad.
So what do you think about when you left?
Yeah, I know.
Stuff like that would make me so mad.
I'm like, we'll see.
Well, if I could give you any advice from a relatively not strong person,
I would be more focused on getting on one of these yachts out here
that are passing through the Miami Bay.
It is insanity.
I feel like everyone's Tiger Woods that has a boat out here.
She's been out there a few times.
Yeah, so I want to know who actually owns these boats.
Don't you feel like all of them invented the Post-it note?
They all just have some product that you just use every day.
Yeah, they got some product.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Oh, what'd you do?
I invented air.
Oh.
It's a surprise.
It's not yellow.
It's white.
Yeah. That's what those boats are for.. It's a prize. It's not yellow. It's white. Yeah.
Yeah.
It's not sugar.
It's not sugar.
The money here is insane.
I will say that.
Some stuff I see, I'm just like, and I really want to be like, hey, what do you do?
And then I'm like, I'm probably going to get shot for asking.
They're going to take a picture of me and be like, she's on to us.
Off.
Who do you work for?
Are you Popo?
Yeah.
Yeah, exactly.
I'm like, yeah, I don't ask questions.
But, yeah, there's a lot of, but, you know, there's a lot of, like, not real stuff here
either.
So it's like, do you rent that boat?
Do you own that boat?
Do you own that Porsche?
Are you renting that Porsche?
Are you taking a picture in front of it?
It's like, you don't really know.
You know who Dan is at Bazillion?
Yeah.
That dude is so fake.
I had no idea.
This whole time.
Is he?
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
Somebody exposed him.
Yeah.
It crushed me.
Somebody on the internet?
I was like, this dude is a Mac Daddy player.
And then, oh, fake.
I'm like, I mean, I think he's got a little money.
He's got enough.
He's probably got some.
Yeah.
He's not concerned. He might not own some. Yeah, he's not concerned.
He might not own the boat, but he still rented it.
But he still rented it for a week.
Yeah.
Which, like, I've looked into that, too.
So it's like it's not cheap to do that either.
Yeah, the boat's still expensive.
Yeah, it's still expensive.
He still rented a yacht.
Yeah, a big one.
I would have to.
I've told them I've had a friend that grew up here,
and his family had a boat.
He would just go to the Bahamas.
I can't imagine waking up and being like, I'm going to go to the Bahamas today.
Yeah, like a casual Sunday.
I want to live down here.
How many years do you feel like you can maintain this training volume
and genuine interest in putting things over your head?
You don't have to really have, like, a date.
What do you think?
August 9th of – I'm just kidding.
Honestly, like, I could see myself, like, say it stays in for 2028.
Like, I could see myself.
That's a good run.
Yeah.
That's a good run.
I really could, yeah.
I just – I still love it.
Like, there's not a part of me that doesn't love it.
I'll stop the day that I, you know, that I'm actually not enjoying it anymore.
Like aside from the days where I just joke like, oh, I'm going to retire because I got it.
Yeah, no.
Like when I actually stop or something happens that physically makes me stop.
But I just, I don't know.
I don't have a lot to complain about with what I'm doing right now.
Like I get to, I'm 26 and I still get to be an athlete and do what I enjoy doing.
It's like I don't have any complaints right now.
That's good to hear.
Yeah, I don't have a timeline, and I don't really care to have a timeline.
I think that I will know and my body will know.
Yeah, you'll know.
It happens.
And I'll let that happen when that happens.
You've stayed pretty much injury-free, though, haven't you?
Yeah.
Keep going.
I mean, aside from –
It helps a lot when you're not recovering and banged up and never
said like tweaks but never weeks yeah like small tweaks like yeah which obviously is going to
happen um but actual injuries that like set me out no knock on wood like i hate that we just said
that yeah you're good as long as you're smart yeah it'll be all right yeah yeah don't ask that
again uh where can people find you um Find me on Instagram at Hunter Elam.
Wait, isn't there like an underscore in there somewhere?
No, I bought my name.
Did you?
I got my name.
Hold on.
How much does your name cost?
So honestly.
I'm so interested in this.
Okay, this is hilarious.
It's not that funny.
It's funny.
I'll laugh.
I'll sell it.
So I looked at the name and I'm like, okay, like this dude has Hunter Elam.
On Instagram.
On Instagram.
And I want my name.
I messaged the guy.
I just DM him. I'm like, hey, man, like super On Instagram. On Instagram, and I want my name. I messaged the guy. I just DM him.
I'm like, hey, man, like super random question.
I'm Hunter.
I'm Hunter.
Can I have my name?
And he's like, sure, I'll sell it to you.
And I'm like, yeah, okay, cool.
Like name your price.
He said 50 bucks.
Oh, my God, really?
I said, yeah, deal.
He said, oh, just kidding, like 100.
And I'm like, okay, deal.
He said, oh, wait, my bad.
I meant 1,000.
I said, yeah, no, buddy, not going to happen.
At this point, like he's just like, you know what I mean? And I'm like, I'll go. He said, oh, wait, my bad. I meant $1,000. I said, yeah, no, buddy, not going to happen. At this point, he's just like, you know what I mean?
And I'm like, I'll go with $100, what you said.
And he was like, okay, fine.
And, yeah.
Why was he Hunter Elam?
How did he get that?
I think that's his name.
Because he needed $100?
Yeah.
Yeah, like that was actually his name?
I think, honestly, it was his name.
Oh, no way.
Yeah.
Okay, I got you.
I mean, hunters can go both ways.
Yeah, exactly. So I got my name. So now it's just Yeah. Okay. I didn't ask. I mean, hunters can go both ways. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Exactly.
So I got my name.
So now it's just Hunter Elam.
How'd it go?
One question before she leaves.
What about that person that was like impersonating you and pretending to be not a good Hunter
Elam?
Is that stopped?
I mean.
I hadn't heard about this.
I think people make fake accounts all the time.
Yeah, they do.
Like that happens to everybody.
I know the one time I saw him like, whoa, what the hell?
What happened to Hunter? And I feel like you can just kind of like know too. Like when I see a fake account, I know the one time I saw, I'm like, whoa, what the hell? What happened to Hunter?
And I feel like you can just kind of, like, know, too.
Like, when I see a fake account, I know it's a fake account.
You know what I mean?
The one started out like, she decided to get crazy.
And then you were like, somebody's faking me.
I'm like, yeah.
Yeah, no, it's like.
I was like, what has happened here?
But you're talking about Miami being fake,
and then we're talking about fake accounts right now.
I think the guy that made the Co-King Cowboys documentary slash –
I think there's a series for it too.
I think I heard him say one time,
you go to Hollywood when you want to be somebody,
you go to New York when you already are somebody,
and you go to Miami when you want to be somebody else.
Does that resonate with you?
Yeah, I feel like that's very factual.
That's so funny.
Yeah.
Yeah, absolutely.
We love it here.
