Starting point is 00:00:13 Well, hello, everyone. We are, uh, we're back at it. Son. Son. Are you? Jack, rewind. Restart. Yeah, restart the show.
Starting point is 00:00:30 Just here again. Hello everyone and welcome to Barnburner here on the 5th of November, which is a Wednesday. It is great to have. Happy Wednesday to you, do you know? Happy, uh, someone called hump day. Right. It's in the middle. Here's hoping a, uh, and wishing a happy hump day to you all.
Starting point is 00:01:01 This, uh, a president. of Bet 365 game props, player props, totals, the money line. Whatever your bet is, it's never ordinary yet. Bet 365. And if you're so inclined, Hi. Sober chat, we will throughout the show. Maybe we're not even wait till the end.
Starting point is 00:01:23 Yeah. Maybe it's like, you know, it's so good. If Jack was ever paying attention, you could get stuff right on top. I can do it from here too. Jesus, he's taking shots. Oh, he's taking shots. Oh, he's. It's just, I don't know what it is.
Starting point is 00:01:34 Yeah, I'm not sure what it is. I don't keep it going from yesterday. I don't want to be inconsistent. Right. Right. We are here in the McLeod Law, LLP Studios, a lovely day. McLeod-dashlaw.com is the website. Sometimes you just need a little bit of help.
Starting point is 00:01:54 Maybe things are just, I think I need to talk to somebody. I should probably talk to somebody. Are they allowed to do this? Do I need something signed here? about that. I'd hate for this to come back and I better just talk to somebody. We need this in writing.
Starting point is 00:02:10 I apologize. I've got to say, I'm not even listening to you to because I'm disgusted with myself. Oh, dear. My poppy's in my truck. Yeah, that's okay. Can you put a digital poppy on them, Jack, please? My coat is in my truck. Yeah. My bad.
Starting point is 00:02:30 It's okay. We appreciate you. Yeah. We appreciate it. Understand the thought. The, the McLeod Law Studios coming from two separate locations today. You are, are you camping,
Starting point is 00:02:41 glamping? What are you doing? Are you in studio? You dared to go there without me? Yeah. Yeah. If I was Pinder, I'd be headbutting you.
Starting point is 00:02:53 There's a, there's, there's meetings. He, uh, post show meetings. He's just, you know,
Starting point is 00:02:59 I think you invited. No voice, on over. I'm not hung over. Oh, yeah. You're drinking again yesterday? You were so excited to see the old lady you had to put a jag on? No, no jag on.
Starting point is 00:03:12 Nothing of the sort. No, last drink was Saturday night slash Monday morning. The last free bird of the night at Tootsies. The Tito's and water was the last one. And I dare say for a while might be the last one. one.
Starting point is 00:03:32 Yeah, that's, I might just cruise right till. That's reasonable. You know, US Thanksgiving's a couple weeks away. Christmas after that. We'll see. Yeah, take a little breather. It's not going to be too hard. You also did the pre-scout in Nashville, so it's a heavier load you've been carrying.
Starting point is 00:03:44 Thank you. I appreciate it. Appreciate that. Yeah. Yeah, you've got, is there some kind of a loft? Are you at some kink? Outfit. Yeah, what do we got going on there?
Starting point is 00:03:55 Is that a gaw? I'm an outdoorsy guy. I, uh, I'm in the hat. hopefully the last time ever. And then I got a property. I'm thinking about putting a tiny house, like just, I don't need lots of space team.
Starting point is 00:04:12 You know me. I'm a simple man. A little bunky, a little bunk house. I'm a simple man. So they had one on Airbnb to rent. So I gave it a world just to see what you want to look. Free plug.
Starting point is 00:04:22 Airbnb, you're welcome. Yeah. We'd love that. Airbnb. Contact, uh, Red.
Starting point is 00:04:26 I don't know, somebody. Okay. Yeah. It's that swing hanging from the ceiling. That's odd. Okay. yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:32 So you can sleep up there. It's nice. Is it frosty out there today? It's a little chilly in the... 52 something American in the... I shut the heat off last night. Because I run hot, Ryan. Yeah, you do.
Starting point is 00:04:50 I think good. Yeah, I get to go to Medicine House this weekend. Nice. You can stay here. I've got it renting and I'm leaving. I got a Big Valley Moran double up and again two weekends from now double hockey tournaments we got
Starting point is 00:05:05 you want this place dito exciting I don't know that well maybe only catch we got a catch it's got a compostable toilet what does that mean believe it composts your shit dine okay so it sounds like it just there's nothing to do then
Starting point is 00:05:26 that sounds great turns you poo into food how good is that throw it in the garden what could go wrong This sounds awesome. If, yeah, if you want to maybe just kind of give that a quick rinse or rue before you leave. Oh, there's a rinse cup on the couch. Is it like that pew cup we saw a Tootsie's on Friday?
Starting point is 00:05:49 That espresso martini on the ride home? So gross. Why is everyone so gross? Fellas! It's a game day. Get your hell on. Darn right it is. Dino, it's a game.
Starting point is 00:06:02 Flames. The Blue Jackets on a Wednesday. You! Yeah. Yes. I'll be streaming it on the fly. I'll be all over you, Nash. Rick Nash.
Starting point is 00:06:15 Yeah, Rick Nash and Steve Hines. Who was the high drafted Russian? Really high that did not. Nikita Philatov? Philotov. Yes. They were good for a heartbeat there. They had, but it was like Prime Gustav Nyquist.
Starting point is 00:06:32 It's almost in between heartbeats. It wasn't really a... That's a very blue jackety name. Yeah. Adrian of coin. David Miso Viborny. If you recall. And I feel like somehow, some way,
Starting point is 00:06:48 Boone Jenner's been there the whole time. Yeah, well, the ties that bind, Ryan. The ties that bind. Now, listen, this is another one of those things. And we talked about it last week. And I kind of just wanted you to clarify, this is not
Starting point is 00:07:03 a group of people who are following and covering and maybe even rooting for the flames pointing fingers at other teams and saying ha ha you are we get it oh we're just running through some of the greats that's all flames are last in the league still that gives you very little wiggle room you're in you're in a little phone booth jack do you know what a phone booth is yes sir we're kind of boxed in when we want to shit talk people it's like oh yeah well
Starting point is 00:07:30 what are the flames? Tushay. Yeah, you're right. Hey, hopefully the flames are not boxing us in in a few years. This is the whole idea of why we want them to be bad. That's right. Short-term pain, long-term gain. Get on schedule here. Let's go.
Starting point is 00:07:47 I think you would be forgiven if I were to trot out the two names, the leader in points and the leader in goals for the blue jackets. and unless you're in a deep hockey draft or you're a hardcore hockey fan, you may not have heard these things. The two Russians? Any idea, Jack? Sorry, you're working away there. I have absolutely no idea.
Starting point is 00:08:14 Can you name? Do you know what the question was or do you know? The leading goal scores on Columbus. The leader in points is actually having a great year, 11 points and 11 games for Kirill Marchenko. What a really nice year last year. Yeah. A good player.
Starting point is 00:08:26 and Carol Marchenko has five goals, which ties him with Dimitri Voronkov. Voronkov for the team lead in goals with five. It's Moni. So Varankov. Miso Varankov. So yeah. Jet Greaves has been the better of the two goalies.
Starting point is 00:08:48 You young, too. Our friend, Sean. Monty. Watch the RV. One goal, four assists. in 11 games for Sean. So, you know. He shoots, he scores.
Starting point is 00:09:01 He shoots, he scores. Seeing Monaghan. Not everything needs gravy. Anyway, the blue jackets are in town. What can we tell you about the jackets? They lost three to two against the Islanders on Sunday. Had a two-one lead. Late gave up two in 29 seconds to lose in regulation.
Starting point is 00:09:17 They're good at some things. They're the best team five-on-five in the NHL. They're scoring a goal and a half for every goal they allow five-on-five. How about it? The best ratio in the league. They're also bad at some things. They allow the most shots in the league. 34 a game.
Starting point is 00:09:33 Nice. A penalty kill third from the bottom and 30th. So what they got to do, Red, got to pepper them. Box at the net, fellas. Get it at the net, get to the net, drive to the net, score. That's all. Easy peasy. George and weasy.
Starting point is 00:09:49 I think when the flames had to one regulation win in nine games or whatever it was, Husk had talked about getting to the hard. areas and like shots are fine but we need traffic and we need the will to go to the areas that aren't easy where you might get cross-checked and they're doing a better job of that but um you're going to get some shots tonight if the jackets or the jackets they had a four game stretch about two or three weeks ago call it a binge if you will 20 goals in four games seven and like put up Columbus or Calumas thank you yeah outside of that they're your two to three a night kind of team from the looks of things.
Starting point is 00:10:25 They're mid-packing goals per game, third and shots four. Yeah. Oh, well, yeah. You know. And then there's the flames. Coming off of victory, Dean. Off a big win.
Starting point is 00:10:38 However, Rhett, first one back after a road trip. Always tough. A lot of radiation. I know you fear those. Yeah, what is it that you get on the constipation radiation, fellas. Maybe that's right.
Starting point is 00:10:50 Yeah, you do. The old Asians. Which one's worse? The constant. The constipation or the radiation. Well, you don't want to both at the same time. I can only do one thing at a time and I don't know where to start. So if you're playing, let's, okay, so it's a, what was, five, seven local start in Philly,
Starting point is 00:11:10 midnight Philly time. You're probably on a bird. You're back to Calgary with the time change. Let's call it 1.2 a.m. into bed 2.30. Monday's full off day. Yesterday you're back to practice. Is this really like the first game back thing or is it like when they don't have an off day there? Like what's real and what's not?
Starting point is 00:11:32 Or is it just you relax? You get home. It's all off ice. It's not even your body. Yeah, I think it's not your body. I think it's more of a mental. Are you able to convince yourself to go and. Try it up.
Starting point is 00:11:45 Turn the dial up again. Yeah. I'll tell you what. I don't want to hear any excuses. This is where I'm at. And I'll tell you why. Because they're last? we went on that trip, sort of, not the whole road.
Starting point is 00:11:59 I know where he's going. I think we put on as many miles as they did. Different kinds of miles. You could argue harder miles, but also we physicality. There was a lot of physicality. We had to endure and persevere. Our organs took some heavy blows. That's right.
Starting point is 00:12:13 And then you know what I saw? I think our group got more fights than the flames did. So we flew home Monday night, right? Yeah, yeah, Monday night. Yesterday morning, I believe, I believe. I believe this to be true. The Special Olympics breakfast, which goes at like 7 a.m.
Starting point is 00:12:30 or whatever downtown. Yeah. Lanny McDonald was there. Oh, Lanny was on our trip. On that plane, on our flight. We're dragging ass.
Starting point is 00:12:38 We're all bitching complaining. I'm sitting at home croaking away like I'm dying. What's Lanny doing? Getting up and going to support Special Olympics. What a stuff. I'm going to say something on Lanny's behalf. If you bring Lainty McDonald on a trip, you put his ass in first class.
Starting point is 00:12:54 on the back by us skids you think he wants to hang all those dusters losers he uh red makes a great point and more upset about Lanny that he was about his middle seat because at least he got to be next to Jack so he could stop. Jack we had a hell of a time.
Starting point is 00:13:12 Yeah it worked out okay. Yeah. Worked out great. Jack had a big cozy jacket violent on the reflight home. Yeah. Every once in a while. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:21 I was right by the seizure. I don't really like flying. I don't know. I could tell there was a lot of finger tapping. There's a lot of, yeah. Oh, really, hey? Nervous energy, Joe. The rain man.
Starting point is 00:13:35 A matlock. Mattlock. Watch. So, yeah, I just saw Lanny was at the, as I'm, I feel terrible. Oh, good. There's Lanny, smile at a mile wide,
Starting point is 00:13:48 hands around people taking photos. Like, God, okay. What a stud. How is he not first class? Who do I have to talk to down there? There was someone from their group in first class. Hey, Lanny. Will you come down on this trip with us?
Starting point is 00:14:05 What's Lanny going to say? Absolutely. Love to come down. That's who I am. I do good things. That'll be my pleasure to come. I'll throw you in the back there. You all right?
Starting point is 00:14:15 Yeah, I know we're just, it shouldn't even be discussed. It's Lanny McDonald. He's sitting. Yeah. Across the aisle from a guy who's got a dip in a spitty cup. Yeah. Some guy drinking an espresso martini next to him. Gross.
Starting point is 00:14:32 That should be on his rider. We got to work on his rider. Like, what are your asks if you're landing? Anyway. And I forget. We go to tell room in front of the bus. Those are a crazy ass for a whole thing. He's up there getting his, you know, getting his carry on thing down.
Starting point is 00:14:44 Guy I'm sitting beside, he shouldn't have to be doing that. It's like, you're right. That's fair. He's certainly capable of doing it. but he's GD royalty. Yes. Should be in first class. Is he like an order of Canada guy too?
Starting point is 00:14:58 A bag handler. Not like that other guy sitting in first class. What the age? Yeah, that guy's the name. There should be some sort of resume or background check. You got to run before you allow some people up there. Yeah. And I do promise we will stop talking about this trip.
Starting point is 00:15:16 It is still, I mean, obviously it's having some lingering effects on some of us, still very fresh. As I walked in the studio today, I'm not sure who started the jukebox in here today, but the boys were listening to Leonard Skinnerd when I was. We couldn't start the show until Free Bird is done. I'm a singing voice. I'm as free as a bird. Still, I'm going to just take a while.
Starting point is 00:15:40 Wedd watch Springsteen last night. Come on. Like it? I liked it. Woulda like more. not much actual music concert stuff a lot of inner turmoil stuff interesting i'm a huge springsteen fan like all of you should be uh how was the guy who played bruce decent yeah decent that's tough to do because i know just because having been in nashville here we are talking about they had quite a collection of like session players and musicians training him
Starting point is 00:16:20 to play the guitar, to sing, to kind of, to do all that stuff. Do all the versisms. Yeah. So. But he didn't do much of it in my opinion. Like it wasn't a whole lot. What was it? Anyway, it was good.
Starting point is 00:16:35 Worth watching. Well, there's that queen movie. The guy had to do Freddie Mercury. And it's like, there's a lot of mannerisms and you got to get the look down. You got to sing like them. Even Johnny Cash, I was just going to ask you, what did you think it walked the line? Loved. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:48 Not easy. That's like tip your cap. acting there. Because he sang. It was Joaquin Phoenix, right? Waukeen. Is that how you're saying they? Walking Phoenix? I think that was all right. If only we had a guy who was all into movies, you know, that we could talk to, retro. And music loved, like
Starting point is 00:17:02 a real cinephile, a movie buff. Yeah, music and movies. Imagine if you could talk to someone. Somebody like that. We got to look at that. Oh, standby. We've got somebody. It's, uh, yeah, the insider hotline. A presentation of Crystal Waters
Starting point is 00:17:18 plumbing and heating. you can feel the chill in the air. Get the furnace. Get it looked at. Come on. You thought, everything's probably fine. Is that something that you want to take the chance? Let them come in.
Starting point is 00:17:29 Take a look at your entire mechanical heartbeat of your home. Plus, as we've been telling you for a while, get the garage heater set up. This is the winner. Do it. Do it. Don't dilly dally.
Starting point is 00:17:41 This is the winner to do it. Crystal Waters, plumbing, and heating. Your crystal clear choice for home comfort, crystal clear calgary. com. I believe he would. be considered a movie buff and a big music guy, Jamie McClennon. Cultural Insider.
Starting point is 00:17:58 What's going on? We're recovering. Yeah, you didn't come to Nashville. You stood us up, you jerk. We told you. We gave you the dates. You knew where we'd be. You think I could make it there.
Starting point is 00:18:09 I barely made it to my own shows, barely made it to anything. It's been a gong show in my life. I'm sorry. Walk us through. Come on. What's going on apart? Honestly, everything. It's just nothing's falling apart.
Starting point is 00:18:20 You know, nobody's pets' heads are falling off or anything like that. We're flying. It's a busy one. It's a busy one. And, you know, there's chaos in the National Hockey League, which I think is good. Chaos. What? Well, you're looking at it this morning.
Starting point is 00:18:39 You look at the difference of five points is basically last place to first place. It's home ice versus missing the playoffs. Yeah. Literally. Literally. So it's still early, but lots of storylines, lots of good storylines, lots of poor storylines. I just was texting with a buddy who just messaged me and said, Stephen Stamcoast has three points this year. That's probably not.
Starting point is 00:19:02 They've been going up yesterday, too. He was a two 24 hours ago. Yeah. So, I mean, it's not good, but for some people, but others, it's glass half full. You know, still lots of season left still. But yes, all good. busy busy. I made sure that my poppy was on because...
Starting point is 00:19:22 Because you care. I care, but also, I struggle with them. You know, like they fall off and I'm moving around. Yesterday on my show, I took my kids in a break. I took my kids hockey equipment, threw it in the trunk of my wife's house or my wife's car, and my poppy must have fallen off. So I came back and I was like, oh, I don't have a poppy.
Starting point is 00:19:42 I was running. Anyways, all hell breaks loose with these things. I've... I bought pins that were poppies that actually had the backing. Is that okay or was that? I would pay $1,000 for one of those right. Yeah. X me your address.
Starting point is 00:19:58 I'm going to get you one, buddy. I'm on top of this. I actually Googled just before you guys came on, Googled, where do I find a poppy? Because I was just at the grocery store. I didn't see him there. Well,
Starting point is 00:20:11 the other catch is who has coins and change now? You do the QR. code and your phone. Boop, you give him one of those. Yeah, but I would. Like, I would give a 20 for sure, a crisp 20 if I had it for, you know, a little handful of poppies because I'm going to the States, I'm going
Starting point is 00:20:28 a Boston game tomorrow. I want to make sure and represent, but I don't want these, what happens is I travel and it's disheveled. I don't want a disheveled poppy. Right, right. Now, we do have our cultural insider. We will get to hockey. Is there anything you need to touch on before
Starting point is 00:20:44 we get out of arts and culture and into the nature. Oh, sure. Yeah, there's a few things. Well, I was just thinking, you're an entrepreneur with the poppy thing. I'm sure you could find one of your many, you know, irons that are in fires to, like, how did you make your wealth? Oh, I redesigned the poppy. I'm not sure that, I mean, there's some, there's going to be some questions asked. Because the veterans won't like it. Right. It's like, they all should go to charity, but you're right. It should be a situation. I think the poppy is very cool, but I do struggle with the pin because I always poke myself and I, you know,
Starting point is 00:21:16 I'm making holes in my my clothes and all of that type of stuff. But I want to. Mine, mine's off kilter. It's like I got a bad boob job or something. One's hanging a little droopy. A little droopy there. Retro, I guess just in no particular order, went to the Springsteen movie last night. In your opinion, what is the best, you know, what's the best portrayal of a musician, perhaps?
Starting point is 00:21:43 We were talking about Johnny Cash, the Queen movie is reading. recent Springsteen, anything else pop off? I mean, you've got to be at a certain level to get your own movie, I suppose. You know that, oh, but yeah, I've seen lots of movies. I haven't seen the Springsteen one. And I've kind of, like, I get disappointed. I get it. We all have political voices.
Starting point is 00:22:02 I just, I want people to just, like, I haven't gone to that because I'm like, is it, is it political? Is it not? Or is it just talk about his life? And I, I've been a Springsteen fan for many years. You know, it's recency bias, and obviously I'm biased towards them. I thought the Nickelback documentary on... It's fantastic.
Starting point is 00:22:23 It's really good. You know, again, it's kind of behind the scenes, and, you know, it's a short, lovable one. The Johnny Cash one, though, with walking, that actually got to be at the top. Because Reese Witherspoon is unbelievable in it. You know, Joaquin Phoenix is a weird dude to start off with, but he plays it so good. Like that's a movie actually was on about a month ago. I've seen it 20 times. I watched it again.
Starting point is 00:22:51 There's two parts in that movie that I love. One is when he's got the tractor stuck. He's trying to impress Jude Carter's dad, right? And it just blows up. And the second, and like to your point, I think when he's playing Folsom Prison, I think that's very close to what it actually would have been like. If you were, if you would have been there, I feel like that vibe that they captured had to have been close.
Starting point is 00:23:18 It was what I loved about it was the buildup, right? So it's the band's playing and the bass is like boom, boom, boom, boom. Like, and he'd taken his time. It's like, okay, let's get up there. Get, go, go, go on. And, you know, seeing behind the scenes how big of a mess he was. And then on stage, he comes flying up there, hair everywhere, and sings. And, you know, Joaquin Finas was.
Starting point is 00:23:42 unbelievable in that that scene alone was like you say captivating and i love that trying to think about the one with lady gaga and bradley cooper what was that star is born yeah that's a hell of a movie like that's a hell of a performance there as well and that was a remake right from about dusty chris christopherson dusty George Strait? Yeah. What are you talking? Oh, Dusty.
Starting point is 00:24:12 Okay. George Strait. George Strait. He was tremendous. He was. What a Thespian. Yeah. But a Star was born was really good.
Starting point is 00:24:22 Like that, the song was good. Lady Gaga's unbelievable. You know, that whole situation. Even going back, what's the one with Kate Hudson, where she's the Rodey and she. Almost famous? Yeah, yeah. All right. famous. That was a fun show. That was a really good, good portrayal. But yeah, I love, I'm a big music fan. I love movies, as you guys know. I don't get to them as much as I'm all.
Starting point is 00:24:49 Just too busy. Like, what was the one with Jennifer Aniston? Stand up and shout. Oh, yeah, that was, well, Mark Wahlberg was in that. Yes. Rockstar. That's, yeah, that's a good one too. Yeah, there's lots. There's lots. a good music movies. Put it that way. And speaking of rock star, you'll be how, and then we'll talk, okay, I promise. We got, we could, um, you mentioned nickelback.
Starting point is 00:25:16 And I like nickelback. I got no problem with nickel back. Never, never been one of those guys. Jack has two, we call them his Lugan buddies. Yes. They surprised him in Nashville. We flew down on Friday. They came on this trip and didn't tell Jack. So Jack gets, who is our producer,
Starting point is 00:25:32 he gets there and, fuck, his two buddies are there. He's like, ah, this is great. So they. Total media. It's beautiful. Just the beautiful and stupid and wonderful and dumb and mascots. The worst and the best, all of it. Every bar we go into, they're pumping 20s into the bucket for nickel back.
Starting point is 00:25:50 And the band will do one of these. Oh, okay. Well, we've got a request for nickelback and you'll hear kind of a murmur in the crowd. They do rock star. And the dance four is packed and everybody. I mean, but come cheap. Like everybody knows all the words. They're all into it.
Starting point is 00:26:11 So F the haters, Nickelback rocks. I think it was like the fourth or fifth song in a row that they requested for nickelback where there's a bit of fatigue. It was kind of like your chicken fried thing. It became a joke in a way. Well, the chicken fried thing was, I mean, it's serious. And I, I, that's my go-to.
Starting point is 00:26:28 I just, I did some travel on the weekend. And I believe I'm in Nashville in January. We're coming. Yeah, we'll see you there. What date? We'll see you there. We'll surprise you. Okay.
Starting point is 00:26:39 We'll be your Lugan buddies. I will look quickly, but I believe it's like the 21st or something like that. January 21st. Yes, 21st to the 23rd, because Ottawa is there on the 22nd. Jack? Land in Columbus. I bought a flight. I'm in Columbus the night before.
Starting point is 00:26:58 I bought a direct flight from Columbus to Nashville at 9.30 a.m. I'm going to do a bag, chuck. I'm going to go and I will be sitting at Legends on the corner probably by about 12.30 p.m. enjoying myself. You know, I don't know if I can have a bucket of beer sitting with me until after my show, but I usually order a bucket of beer and I just sit and I listen to the bands. And I'll take it. I'll take it.
Starting point is 00:27:24 That's my, that's heaven for me. We got there on the Friday and it's Blue Jays game six. So it's bag chucking for everybody. Yeah. got to get to the bar. They've got the one bar. They've got a reservation in that. And it's retro or you come into the game
Starting point is 00:27:41 and he sends the one picture and it's just the stage at Tutsis. He's already there. He's there already. Run two or three though at Tutsis. We run four one. Yeah. I always do one. I've done three when it's nice out.
Starting point is 00:27:59 And it's... I like level two because you can go out back and smoke. Right. Yeah. Level two is hot on Sunday. They were great. Behind the stage is a little smoking outside of Ollie. So I've got out there. That's where you go.
Starting point is 00:28:18 Because you go and that's the second level is rock too. No more rock for sure. Second level is kind of rock. Third level is you name it. It's chicken fried. It's country. It's a little bit of pop. I've seen, you know, Kid Rock's gotten up there. Pink's been on stage there.
Starting point is 00:28:36 You name it. Everybody goes to third level and sings. Yeah. We just, and I said I was going to move on, but you know, I love it. A traditionalist. We just, we heard. We heard Leonard Skinnered Freebird twice at the second floor stage on Sunday night. That's how long we were there.
Starting point is 00:28:57 And then they kicked us out of the second floor to the first floor. And it was last song in the first floor. Freebird again. Pinder spent 200 American dollars. We had to close out on Freebird. Freebird. And you were there in spirit. Last story, Jack, when you first got there, the first night, we get to Tutsis.
Starting point is 00:29:16 Rett's in the back with some old birds. And Rett digs into his pocket, pulls out a wad of 20s, and throws it at Jack. And what did he say to you? Play chicken fried. Go tell him to play chicken fried for noodles. You know what? Let me ask you this. I thought it was a pocket dial.
Starting point is 00:29:33 Did you try FaceTiming? Yes, obviously. I'm sitting there and my wife is like, who's calling you? And I go, it's got to be a pocket dial. And I go, it's boomer. They were playing chicken fried. I'm like, oh, we wanted to need a job.
Starting point is 00:29:49 You know what? I literally was like, because you just stopped. Like it was like, it rang once and then stopped. I'm like, that's a pocket dial. And I didn't put two and two. If you would have text me and said, Answer, idiot. We wanted that I would have, I was literally sitting there watching TV.
Starting point is 00:30:06 You're better off a thought. Well, I wanted that. I would have wanted that. You want the FOMO? Did you want it that bad? I don't accept it a lot of FaceTime's or calls at night and all of that. But that one, I absolutely would have. But then what happened is I would have got mad.
Starting point is 00:30:22 I would have got mad because I'm sitting there and you guys are chicken fried enjoying yourself. Yeah. Jack puked on the table a couple hours. On my signed bill, I had to ask for another bill because he just buked right on it. I'm like, dude, I just signed that. Jack and his idiot buddies, they got their money's worth it. Oh, they floored it. Good for them.
Starting point is 00:30:44 I had to feed back and put him to bed down there. Yeah, it was his birthday though, yeah. 24? 27. 27, yeah. There you go. See, that's a ripe age. That's perfect.
Starting point is 00:30:56 It's when all the great musicians die too without we might leave him on the trip. Don't you go dying on us. Tonight in Calgary, it's Columbus and the Flames game 1,000 for Nazim Codry. Thoughts on Nazim and his career. We don't know where it's going to end. It has been already his fourth season in Calgary,
Starting point is 00:31:19 which it feels like times flying because, geez, you're right. Nine in Toronto, three in Colorado, year four in Calgary. Do Lee fans still kind of consider him a guy, bring Dazim back home or is that kind of ship's sale? No, that ship hasn't sailed, man. Like they, you know, they won the other day in a fashion that still had fans mad. You know, because Pittsburgh was all over them for two periods. And then they woke up in the third in Pittsburgh crumpled.
Starting point is 00:31:52 So was it Toronto was that good or Pittsburgh fell off a cliff? but basically what got out of that is like you know the leaves are like everybody else kind of meddling in the middle and if you want to if you i always try to defend tree in a situation going that's not a finished product of the team right now he's got cap space he's got some injuries you've got some stuff they still have to sort out the only problem is he doesn't have a lot of currency to trade for if he covets rasmus if he covots nasum then what do you do because you you he doesn't have a lot of currency, either prospects sitting in the miners that he could trade or high picks in his back pocket going, hey, I can trade you at first and this to do it.
Starting point is 00:32:39 So, you know, I think it's a wishful list for people in Toronto. They absolutely love Nazim. But keep in mind, I always try to remind, Nazim left on a weird situation. Yes. He had two suspensions that were the exact same. hit in back-to-back playoff runs and that hurt the team. They were
Starting point is 00:33:01 majors and it was the exact same hit in the exact same spot on two players that got him suspended. So, you know, I read I just, I just want to jump in. Jack Todd from the Gazette in Montreal, I was reading on the plane. He's like, oh, talking about Nazim Codry coming to Montreal
Starting point is 00:33:18 or whatever. Maybe Pierre LeBron who had kind of brought up. Maybe Pierre should do a little digging on this because let's look back at the history. It's like, well, he got suspended. here and he got suspended there and this and that 2015 2018 2018
Starting point is 00:33:31 like how far back do we go like what how much time how much grace period do you need where it's well I've matured I'm I'm smarter now I don't know that he's been suspended as a Calgary flame he's in year four and yes there's been no playoffs
Starting point is 00:33:48 you want a cup after all that too that's ridiculous I just huge in that series I think you come off of them like I put it this way you don't know what you have until it's gone there's a lot of people that would go they put up their hand in now they're fans and media i don't know if tree covets him but i'm saying tris son and we're all here yeah people here talk about nasm a lot saying he would be a perfect fit because what would happen is now john taviris could push to the wing potentially or you could push him down and like you you'd have depth down the middle of the ice.
Starting point is 00:34:25 Montreal needs, now Kirby Doc scored two last night. Maybe he's coming around. I like him as a player. I think he's had the injury bug and I think he's had the consistency bug. We forget he's 24. We always thought, you know,
Starting point is 00:34:38 I think that guy's been around forever. He hasn't. But I look at Montreal as a definitely teams that do covet that second Sanderman's spot, Nazim has to be on the radar. Yeah. He is your prototypical number two centermen that has one, that has bite, that is proven that he can play in the playoffs outside of suspension.
Starting point is 00:35:01 I agree. There should be a grace period. That was years ago. He's grown up. He's changed. He's won. He's been there. I think he understands what it takes and walk that fine line in the playoffs.
Starting point is 00:35:13 I don't think a suspension worry would ever falter anybody from looking at that nassum. It didn't hurt Colorado. They got hardware. and between him and O'Reilly, like if Nashville falls out of it, and I don't know where they're at. Like they've got some good young, big players and some old guys on the 18th T-box that used to be great players. I don't know if they put it all together or not,
Starting point is 00:35:33 but those are the two centers. Like you're not going to find someone that can come play top six center for you at the deadline outside of those two guys. I got one guy, Navy. Who? I'll run it by you guys. Does Alex Tuck play center? If we're asking, it probably means no.
Starting point is 00:35:51 Well, I do believe he does, but I also believe that he's a, but that's a top six guy who can fly, it can be physical, all of that type of stuff. I'm just saying, I'm looking at, you know, you're right. If it's Nazim and if it's Ryan O'Reilly. True centers. True centers. I think teams would have to look at Alex Tuck and go, now, what is Buffalo doing? Who knows?
Starting point is 00:36:15 We don't know. But at the end of the day, that would be a top six that I would covet, depending on what Buffalo is going to do. I would be worried with Tuck about injury problems. Yeah. That's plagued him a sole career. It's true. It's fair.
Starting point is 00:36:32 It is fair. Like, there is no perfect scenario. Keep in mind, Nas seems like he's perfect, but he's got, what, three years left at seven?
Starting point is 00:36:41 Yes. Three left at seven. Yeah, I mean. And Tuck's taken 10 draws this year. So I think he's a winger. And maybe he could play. center, but if you're not doing it now and you've been, yeah, not, I think it's a different
Starting point is 00:36:55 shopping aisle. I think you got centers here and you got your versatile top six wingers here. Like he's, he's not a center. I think, again, I come back to it. I think Connie's dealing from a position of strength depending on what he wants to do with his organization, because you've got some players that a lot of the league would covet. Now, getting a win was big. You know, if you can string together some it might keep the flies off. You know, that Philadelphia game was a low event game,
Starting point is 00:37:24 but it was, you know, a win and you'll take it. I love the, I got to be honest, I love the fact that they went back to Wolf on that. It would have been easy to go, hey, we're going to stick with Cooley, because Wolf didn't have it the night before, but they went back to him on a hunch.
Starting point is 00:37:40 What? We were at that game? Yeah. Maybe didn't make saves? The flames were terrible. The first period of de-zone was awesome. I get it. What I'm saying is that both getting lifted and coolly coming in and playing well.
Starting point is 00:37:59 And playing well, it would have been easy for the coach to go, you're going tomorrow night. But instead, he goes, I'm going right back to the guy that, you know, my moneymaker. So lots of chatter. And you know me, I'm involved in all that online stuff so much that it's just bombarding me. Huska, lots of BS questions about Huska and what he's doing with the team. Are you seeing? Like is his job in jeopardy kind of stuff?
Starting point is 00:38:29 That being said, and I want to follow up with, they were in Ottawa. You were there. Yeah. And they stayed over rather than going to Nashville. Now, I'm not saying that they should promote, let's get to Nashville and have a party. Right. But they should get to Nashville and have a party. because Huska's biggest risk will not be allowing them to have fun.
Starting point is 00:38:55 It will be taking the fun out of the balloon. And that's what I think he's risking. I don't know what your opinion on it. I kind of feel like I know, but you might add a little more professional. I think it's ridiculous. Anyway, my point is I think it's ridiculous that it's even being discussed. But I do see where Huska and that coaching staff are squeasing.
Starting point is 00:39:18 and over squeezing. Well, I get it. I think Huska is an unbelievable coach. I think he's done a great job. I think he has a pulse on these guys. What you're saying, Red, is he ultra-serious? Yes. You know, I look at the way Ryan does business.
Starting point is 00:39:37 Again, I'm not behind the scenes. But I think he is a guy that is very buttoned up. And what I mean by that is every detail is he's examined it. Like this is a guy, that coaching staff, from what I understand, puts work in and exhaustive work. And they've done a great job. Hasn't translated to the standings and a lot of that. I see what you're-
Starting point is 00:40:05 This year. Yeah, it works last year. Unbelievable last year. I believe, you know, adding in pie, looking at, you know, guys that it's a great coaching staff. anybody online who is questioning Ryan Huska has an egg avatar that doesn't have a lot of, you know, knowledge behind it. I think they've done a great job. I think that it's funny. I talked to a coach in the league the other day who said that Calgary team is better than their record.
Starting point is 00:40:38 That's what, that's all he said to me. He just said, you know what? That team is better than their record. and he specifically spoke about the coach. They are well prepared. Doesn't mean they're well executed. They're well prepared. I see where you're going.
Starting point is 00:40:54 Fun always, you know, fun, as far as bonding early on in the season, I think it's important. But you're right. Like sometimes you overthink. What I love, what's happened is probably some sports science person has gotten into the air and say, we need this for the rest of the group. We need this for this.
Starting point is 00:41:15 And sometimes it's like, I'd much rather, and again, it comes back to our 04 conversation. I'd much rather play with some guilt or going, hey, we've got to dig in here because we've had some fun. And it's galvanized the group to the point where now we gel together. Yeah, and guilt or not, they have to enjoy going to the rink. And when you've had two wins and your first, however many it was, taking the joy out of it and staying in the canada for a practice, it didn't pay off.
Starting point is 00:41:49 It didn't pay off. It didn't pay off. At a period as they've had all here. Right. And I just, I'm literally trying to get word to him in discussing this with you. Don't oversteer the ship here. Like,
Starting point is 00:42:01 I think you're right. I think they're very good coaching staff. Don't lose sight of things that are important, like enjoying going to the ring. They're there. They might have a complete misread on this. Maybe the team said we don't want to go to Nashville. I just worry that they're squeezing a little bit.
Starting point is 00:42:19 Well, and it's fair. But keep in mind, we're dealing with different athletes nowadays. You know, like that are more in tuned with their PlayStation's 5 than they are, you know, going and listen to a live band. Like that's just, you know, I, again, that's, I'm blanketing everybody with that. But it is a different world. A lot of these guys are like, hey, I, need my sleep, I need my rest, I need this, I need that. They're very disciplined.
Starting point is 00:42:46 They don't, some of them just don't circle Nashville like some of the others do. Put it that way. You know what I mean? Like that's, that's the way I would see it is, you know, do you, I circle Nashville. I've already know, like I say, I know the dates. I've already got my flights. I'm ready. And I'm now I'm more sad that I didn't pick up that facetime. I just thought it was a pocket dial. Jeez. What a idiot. Boom, never called. you ever. So if he does, I don't call anybody.
Starting point is 00:43:14 I think it would be, but it obviously means it's serious if he's actually calling it. Well, you should have just thrown a text in there. And then, and then I would have read it and answered or called you back. That's the thing. So I don't know. That's, that's on me. And it sounds like you got a great time anyways. You didn't need. And it was at 8.45 p.m. Like I'm looking at it now. My time. I don't know what I was doing. Well, I was probably watching the Jays game. weren't the J's playing? Yeah, that might be it.
Starting point is 00:43:42 How's that mood? Well, that's why I'm wearing black. They got Bieber back. He didn't opt out of his option. That's great news for today, but there's a lot of people. I have people that are optimistic and people saying it's going to be another 32 years. So enjoy that ride. And I was like, oh, I just, my heart breaks for people that come in second.
Starting point is 00:44:07 You know, it's the full ride. And keep in mind, like, they were, it seemed like they were in control of that game for eight, eight innings, too. That's the other thing. You get it built up in your mind going. Totally. And, you know, Smith's foot comes off and then goes back down. You've got what a move by Roberts in the game before in game six to put in pageais or whatever. And he's the guy who catches the Clement.
Starting point is 00:44:37 would have been the walkoff. And, you know, there was just some moves by L.A. You're like, okay, they were championship caliber, but the J's, it was a great run. They got some bounces too. That stupid ball on the wall in game six. All right, fellas, all right. Just, just so.
Starting point is 00:44:55 Just know that there's no shame in finishing second. Unless you're in Edmonton with two best players in the world, then we'll show. I don't feel any shame. Nope. No. There's no shame in it. It just, it stings.
Starting point is 00:45:07 It's a wound. There's a wound there. And the team, the group is going to have to recover. But maybe, you know, with Bieber coming back, maybe they'll get Bow done.
Starting point is 00:45:16 I think there's some stuff that we can do. No, what it does. It makes me depressed. And then I stress eat. Look at that Cineplex pop-mark. Where are you getting that from? This is what I mean.
Starting point is 00:45:27 We went to the Springsteen movie last night and brought the corn home with him, as you do. He probably took one to go after his first. He had a bag? No, guys who eats the bag says it's spilled out and then and then gets another refill. You buy the refill size. It's good. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:45:44 You buy the refill and then you get the refill on the way out. Yeah. He's got a hard out here. You mentioned the net mining. He's got a hard out. Give me a few minutes. I'm fine. I'm just,
Starting point is 00:45:53 you what? No, no, no. Give me two minutes. I've got to turn off my chicken. It's baking right now. What? Well, you can feel bad now. They said he was a hardo or something.
Starting point is 00:46:05 What were you going to ask them? Well, you're, just noted the, you know, they go back to Wolf and you're like, yeah, like, you're showing confidence and you're one. But also, it's like, cooley started two games and we're like well into the season here. What's the perfect ratio for the two goalies and then we'll let you go? Because coolies got two starts. That's it. And he's played very well. And I agree with you. You go back to Wolf, you build them, you show him confidence. But like, how are they going to work this backup in when they're trying to get out of last and you're going to put someone not named Wolf into the goalie
Starting point is 00:46:35 slot? Yeah, I mean, Cooley's played well in both of his games, like you mentioned. Like he's not been the problem. No. I think you work him in where early on, the goalies rested, and for the most part, the schedule's been pretty decent. Like they did have a, you know, the, what was it, one game, and then you flew to Salt Lake.
Starting point is 00:46:56 That was a weird back-to-back. But Cooley played well in that Salt Lake game. And even this Nashville to Philly, that's a weird one. You play Nashville, and then you fly, lose another time zone, lose an hour, all of that. But what I would say is I think he's done a very good job. I still think we're looking at, I would love to see Wolf play 60 games this year, 58 to 60 games.
Starting point is 00:47:17 Yeah. That means for a lot more than that. Well, you know, I was just looking right now, Wolf, Saros, and Wedgwood have all started 12 games. Shasturkin, Gustafson, Allmark have started 11. And then there's nine other goalies that have started 10. So it's not way out of whack. But if, like you say, if it's pro-rated over 80, to then it's but I just I think that it's I think that this the schedule and their record will dictate the record part is more than getting in mind guys coolly and the Russian I'm not going to try and
Starting point is 00:47:50 pronounce his name yeah they didn't instill a lot of confidence coming out of training camp yeah they were awful that last preseason game really lost one start in the first three games because that was back to back and then an afternoon game that's right that was Wednesday Thursday Saturday afternoon. That would have been a backup start in there. So really, you talk about a pace, he's lost one start because he didn't have the confidence of the group early on. I think now he's at least showing that he can give you minutes. So if there is a start, there's probably a scheduled start coming for him now. But really, he's lost one start. That's the way I see it, where they forced Fed Wolf into the Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday games, where it probably
Starting point is 00:48:37 probably that Thursday in Van. Was it Thursday in Van? That probably should have been Cooley's game and Wolf played it. That's the only, so really, that's where the numbers get skewed. Because now you'd be at, what, 12 and 3 for your goal or 11 and 3 for your goalies instead of that. So, so I don't think you're far off of that, that formula. Fine analyst, this guy is. Very good.
Starting point is 00:49:00 Members the flame schedule. So now just so, it's 1 p.m. Are you roasting chicken in the middle of the day? what's happening? I'm baking myself two chicken breasts. Oh, okay. But I make four, because I'm going to eat them for dinner tonight before I get on the plane. So I've got four chicken breasts, and I'm cooking them right now.
Starting point is 00:49:19 And I started, I put them in at 12.30, and it's 30 minutes later. And I'm like, I can hear the timer going off. And I'm like, I don't want to burn my chicken. I know you don't. That's terrible. Yeah. But I also wanted to talk about the starch structure of Dustin Woolley. Now Dino's going to drag it out as long as possible.
Starting point is 00:49:36 so your chicken does get. It's fine now. We call it blackened chicken. That's right. What I was concerned about was the oven was on. I turned the oven off. It can now just baste in his juices. Parmesan crusted herb.
Starting point is 00:49:51 That's what I make. So not bad, eh? Not bad. Very impressed. Can't wait to go over. You're open inviting, always. Just don't FaceTime me at 9.38 at night. I might not answer.
Starting point is 00:50:04 I don't know. Terrible time. You couldn't have picked the worst time. Smile at one of those 20 security cameras. I'll let you in red. Exactly. 16, not 20. 16, 10.
Starting point is 00:50:13 I'm sorry, way off. Pro-rated. I think about you now every time I park at the airport. Oh, no. I wonder if my vehicle will be here when I get back from my flights. It is. I mean, now, listen, there's a reason why I love my Teslas, but I, like, there's a reason why I have them now because they don't get stolen.
Starting point is 00:50:35 Like, nobody wants to see. steal a Tesla because you can track it and shut it down. But my wife's car was gone and we found it and I was hoping they didn't find it because of the damage they did to it. But it is what it is. That's the world we live in. You're not safe in your vehicle or outside of your vehicle now. Sad times.
Starting point is 00:50:56 Well, we appreciate you. All right. Thanks for having me. We'll chat soon. Also, just a little side note. I heard high steak out cheese toast better than season. I think that's fake news. I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:51:14 But I think we should at least. I will compare. Research. There's a highs in Toronto. There's a highs in Calgary. That's Stephen Avenue, right on Stephen Avenue, right there. It's a bold claim for sure. Right from right by Barbarrellas or whatever.
Starting point is 00:51:29 Yep, cross street. Yeah, okay. We're going to have to do both when I'm there. I am there in March for Flames Senators. That's a Calgary, you know, I think it's like March 4th or 5th, March 5th. So we got to do the cheese toast in that area. Yeah, cheese toast inspector. We'll do a tour.
Starting point is 00:51:53 We'll get a bus and everything. Yeah. Exactly. All right, guys. Be good. Yeah. Yeah. There you go.
Starting point is 00:51:58 Jamie McLennan. What a guy. It's memorized everyone's schedule in the league. It's impressive. You know who else was awesome at that was La Bardous? Oh, yeah, for sure. He couldn't wait for the schedule to be released. So he could kind of go down.
Starting point is 00:52:14 So here's what's going to be happening. And then he'd find some baseball schedule. So if we're going to be in Pittsburgh, well, where's the, where's the NAAA qualifier for the regional college basketball team? Are they at home? He'd be able to go through. And then, well, they've got the road trip coming up in March, the nine days, six game, through the North East. There's a world
Starting point is 00:52:35 softball championships U18. Not many better. That is a presentation of Crystal Waters plumbing and heating your crystal clear choice for home comfort
Starting point is 00:52:47 403-219, 4100. Check them out at crystal clearcallagree.com. Great guy. He's just so he's got it all together. Oh yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:53:03 Right? Like he travels all the time. He never seems like he's fatigued. he's got schedule he's doing so much like he's roasting chicken in between hits yeah unreal like we'd be eating like well we went away ate like feral feral cats out of a garbage can red's having had 12 hour old popcorn it's good but it's not fresh want to be like noodles what does it take what's a guy got to do what's a guy got to do it's a lot of work ethic we don't is it is it right red did you put it
Starting point is 00:53:36 in the freezer? No, I should have. I didn't think about it. Did you put it in the compost? Maybe I'll do it now. What is, uh, what's the investment advice when it comes to the. Not good. Dean, I shouldn't have shown that.
Starting point is 00:53:49 I'm going to get my, yeah, you're going to get your reprimanded. Starting point is 00:54:45 Big day tomorrow. Fellas, an investment will be mad at me again. It's not your day tomorrow. That's right. That's right. It's not their day. A comprehensive proactive, proactive screening battery identifying individual health risks before it starts. It just seems to make a great deal of sense.

Yeah. You're going to go to invest. You might not be critical of how you appear and operate,
Starting point is 00:55:47 but Mama Bear does. Christmas coming around the corner. What if you do that for the mama bear? That's always riskier. I feel like it's always riskier going that direction. Yeah. I just think if you're thinking about long-term health, you're in everyone's best interest.
Starting point is 00:56:04 I think it's a great gift. It's a nice couple's gift. Yeah. I got you a gym membership. You've always talked about wanting to do yoga and stuff. That's a different one. That's very different. And then I got punched in the mouth.
Starting point is 00:56:17 Whoops, Daisy. How? That won't happen with investment. Thank you, investmed, invest dashmed. Dot CA. It was kind of a busy night last night in the old NHL. Lots going on. A lot of action.
Starting point is 00:56:28 We had some fisticuffs. We had some near brawls. We had some crazy comebacks. We had overtime in five of the first six games. We had an incredible controversial game-winning goal. So much, Dean. Do you see Cory Perry? Still doing it.
Starting point is 00:56:41 Corey Perry has played 1,400 games, has eight points in eight games to start this season. Vesmed. Yeah, you must be. Boy, I don't. I don't. That aging curve. It's tough because you hate him.
Starting point is 00:57:02 But you got to respect to them. But if you're good and you've played 1400 games and you're playing with people, hey, I'm not going to make the play, but I'll get to where you need me. Right. Yeah. That looked good against Winnipeg last night. I had Winnipeg on the Bet 365 and the Kings just,
Starting point is 00:57:20 shut out victory at home. That was my whole career. Boom, just don't, just leave the, don't touch the puck. Go screen the goalie, big boy. Just go skate to the net. Stand by that back post and we'll try and bank it off your hope or something. we'll come back to that. Nothing super time sensitive there.
Starting point is 00:57:44 So why don't we do one of these? Pindra. Pindra. Pindra. We do it for Village Honda, where the 2025 demo clearout is on. We're talking big discounts, great prices on low kilometer demos. Supply is limited. You got to move here, people.
Starting point is 00:58:03 The Accord Hybrid Touring Sedan, pilot touring edition. Ridgeline trail sport. CRV hybrid, Civic sports, Civic hybrid, hybrid, hybrid, hybrid, Civic. He's a He's a Hazza.
Starting point is 00:58:17 Villageon.com and in the Northwest Auto Mall, we start at Flames Nationware. Flames News to get to. Oh, Bobby Germany stepping out with an opinion piece here. Ryan Huska is overcoaching. Now, I think if you listen to this show, we're probably on the same page.
Starting point is 00:58:35 We've seen a thousand different long combinations through 14 games. He's also trying to get a group that's underperforming and probably well prepared to start performing up to the level of preparation. Some interesting quotes in there. Flames fans want to see hope. It's either in the form of a contender or young players. So suggesting there's neither.
Starting point is 00:58:55 Patience is the hard part, fellas. Because you could definitely call out Matt Bay Gridden right now and you could dispatch a veteran on waivers or you could bring up Hunter Brestevich and lose a Braden Pahall for nothing on waivers, et cetera. etc. But it doesn't necessarily mean it's the best interest of developing the player long term. That's a tough spot too, right? Because if you are 30 second and you're losing games and you don't shuffle things around and try to make changes, like what is what does the coach do? Is it coach wise, not just sitting there? Was he doing anything? I get it. I think we're all kind of on the same page.
Starting point is 00:59:28 It's maybe just a deep breath. Like a lot of people realize that this, there's only so much talent on this roster and it's not necessarily combinations for a long period of, it's just, it's going to be what it is. Yeah, I'm still trying to figure out what the hell's going on with Marty Possible. Remember where he was cut and skated the next day?
Starting point is 00:59:48 Yes. That was like a month ago. Yes. That's kind of weird, isn't it? Seems. Haven't heard a lot of timelines. Skating on his own, week and a half ago.
Starting point is 01:00:00 Not sure. Let's do some digging on that, folks, shall we? It's Nazim Cadre's Day. Let's dive into the millennial player, a thousand games he will eclipse tonight against Columbus, 260 straight. Don't believe he's missed a game for the Calgary Flames, which is quite impressive. Durable, gritty, still creating offense and coming off a career high 35 goals last year. He's been, make no mistake, a great Calgary Flame. Any failings of this iteration of the club are not on Nazim,
Starting point is 01:00:30 and this might be his greatest moment. Rett with his brown leather jacket, Mika Kipersaw retirement night. That spurred the comeback as they would rally against Jack's penguino. And Iggy was impressed. Doesn't take more than that for me. He's been a greatest goal is a flame potential.
Starting point is 01:00:46 He's been a great flame. He's, as they say, he's got that dog in him. You wonder, oh, do these guys hate it? He hates to lose. You see it. He wears it. And you love, you love all that.
Starting point is 01:00:58 kind of going through all the notes. You forget, he scored that overtime winner as an avalanche in game four of the cup final less than three weeks after hand surgery. Like his hand was. Well, how about the hatcher got for death threats against St. Louis? Like, he's had some money performances. This is my favorite that he's got. There's a bunch up on the Flames Nation socials is we celebrate a thousand games for the former
Starting point is 01:01:24 avalanche and longtime Leaf player. Let's hit the parlay tonight. Nazem, three shots, Nassum, a point. That gets you into plus money. Don't mind that if you want to root on Nassum at the dome tonight. Here are the numbers for his career read. 999 games played before tonight, 310 goals, 720 points, and 768 penalty minutes. Bet everything there.
Starting point is 01:01:50 Not a checking center, an offensive center. And in Calgary, 91 goals and 260 games, 208 points in 20. 260 games, that on a team for, what, three years in a row that has struggled to score goals. Now four. It's a good player. Hell of a player. Well, keep moving. Schedule. What do we got?
Starting point is 01:02:13 You didn't have any Nazimads there, right? You didn't want to trade his ass or anything, like you said the other name. Well, hey, let's maximize his assets and keep it. Maximize his ass. Get this thousand game going. Silver stick tonight, all right? Well, they said they weren't going to trade it before the thousand games. No, so. I imagine 9 p.m. Tomorrow. Maybe a little later.
Starting point is 01:02:31 Look at that start time. 7.30 tonight at the door. What? What? Don't worry. Not to an anthem burner, boom. Sportsout one, Jackets, flames.
Starting point is 01:02:42 The homestand concludes on Friday with the Hawks who have been fun and improved, but still not very good. Road trip this weekend. We'll send them through Minnesota and St. Louis. Two teams they have company with near the bottom of the standings. Then it's another Chicago.
Starting point is 01:02:58 Okay, San Jose in there. Third time against Winnipeg, Buffalo. Hey, let's go, Buffalo. Buffalo. Here are your lines for ye old blue jackets. You noted the top line wingers leading the team. Marchenko in points, Varunkov in goals, Moni down the middle, Adam Fantilli,
Starting point is 01:03:23 high draft picks, centering the second line. There's Forever a Blue Jacket, Boone Jenner. Charlie Coil, he's been zipping around. He was in Colorado. He was in Boston. Now he's a Columbus Blue Jacket. Very tough and solid player, Matthew Olivier, on the right side of that third line.
Starting point is 01:03:39 Cole Cillinger, he was famously taking one pick ahead of Matthew Coronado. He's in the third line. And there's Kent Johnson, another high pick. He's on the fourth line with Isaac Landestrum and Tsar, Zach Aston Reese. He's a good player, right? Kent, like what's going on with? I don't know.
Starting point is 01:03:56 I don't know. here's your blue line. They're missing. Goody. Got to get a goody. Eric Branson's out with injury. Denton Matichuk with Zach Werenski, who got a ton of Norris votes last year. Severson and Proverov, your second pair. Dante Fabro, I think they snuck off waivers. Hey, Jake Christensen, not good enough to play in our organization.
Starting point is 01:04:16 There's Rhett going back and making sure he gets his resume at the top of the pile the next time a job opens. Well, yeah, I told you guys. Christensen's right there. It's right there. right in front of your eyes. Standings are still the standings. Did you notice the flames are just in Nashville? Did you notice I said they're going to St. Louis and Minnesota this weekend?
Starting point is 01:04:37 And did you hear me say that San Jose is coming to town next week? It's a bottom five bowl. I think you said all those things, but I do tend to kind of block you out after a certain point. Did you ask a question? Were you saying something? There's a lot of teams that are playing in the next two weeks that are right in their neighborhood. The only non-Foe 500 teams in this phony bologna.
Starting point is 01:04:58 500 league where again five overtimes meant five extra points we handed out last night fair enough uh flames prospect this wittenback kid at quinapiac is something special watch just right off the draw quinapiaq in the ozone win the draw walk in zoop zink he'll zup zook zing it's a pretty good zoop zup sing and then the sally we got the oars he's off to a hot start a rookie with Quintapiaq, I believe a fifth rounder this past summer. Connie's been doing some things in the draft. This is another crafty, not huge,
Starting point is 01:05:37 but skilled player. Lighten up college. Love to see it. Against Alaska. Fairbanks, yeah. You don't like the Ninooks? What's wrong with the Ninox? He's got some blood in that.
Starting point is 01:05:51 No, different team, Dino. Is it? Sorry. It's the Sea Wolf's Anchorage. Come on, dude. Sorry, guys. Well, Joe. Not quite right.
Starting point is 01:05:59 Results last night. Lee wolves beat Denver over the weekend, just so you know. Yeah, there you go. Five of the first six games went to overtime. A lot of one goal games in there. We did hit the Carolina minus one and a half. The Rangers are now 05 and 1 at MSG to start the year. Goodness.
Starting point is 01:06:14 Wings almost got it done against Vegas. One nil there. That sounds like a soccer score. One, no. Vegas wins that one. Really good finish with Colorado and Tampa, two very good teams. Tampa's come out of their early season tailspin. and the Ducks hung a touchdown on the Panthers last night, fellas.
Starting point is 01:06:32 The Ducks looked great. They got depth, they got size, they got nasty D-Men, they got young studs. Quack. Quack. Quack. Quack. Quack. Criders got seven.
Starting point is 01:06:45 Yeah, I can't use them in New York, apparently. Got to get him out of here. Rangers are in a bad way. Rangers shut out at home. Criders got seven on a upstart Ducks team. Winless at home, 05. and one, tying a franchise record for the longest winless streak to start a season, they went over 21 minutes last night without a shot on goal.
Starting point is 01:07:07 And the first team in initial history to get shut out the first two home games of a season. It's not gone well for the blue shirts. Other finals to note, we told you the Kings got a Darcy Kemper shutout as they blanked the Jets. And the Evanson Oilers blew a two-goal lead and a third period lead in a loss to Dallas. Fellas, they have four regulation wins. and in their last four games, they've either blown a third period lead or a two goal lead.
Starting point is 01:07:31 They have one overtime, one in there, two overtime losses or shootout losses and one regulation loss. They have not closed at all. And Stan Bowman said they'd upgrade their goaltending. So I guess we just have to wait longer. I never talk about the Oilers.
Starting point is 01:07:45 Yeah, well, I mean, it wouldn't be a synopsis of the night about that. Got to cover it all. Yeah. But you never game there. Tonight's games, here we go. All right, sure. The Uts.
Starting point is 01:07:56 have been pretty good, the Utah's. They're in Toronto off to a mess start. Blues were very ugly, but got a win on the weekend. They rallied, they're one of the teams that rallied against Edmonton. And the other two games we have not mentioned, Chicago is in Vancouver. That is a baddard back home bowl. And sharks in Seattle, two teams off to fun starts, let's call it. Seattle's honeymoon phase might be over.
Starting point is 01:08:24 They've fallen out of the wild card. And San Jose, man, anytime you can watch them, they are fun. They are fun. Smith, Misa, Celebrini, Dickinson, Scarabinette, good young players. Action from last night. Let's walk through some of the things we saw. Nashville overtime winner. This is wild.
Starting point is 01:08:43 Watch this, Red. They're in Minnesota, and there's a push to the left. Net comes off. It's overtime. We're awarding you the goal. Game over. Ret, back to you. That's...
Starting point is 01:08:59 Sorry. What's that? Justes Annen. That's a shot in overtime as the net's getting pushed off. Called it right there. O.T. winner. Game over. I'm still.
Starting point is 01:09:10 A penalty for delay a game. That's your O.T. winner. Thank you, Rhett. Appreciate that. Let's move. Isn't it wild? I know.
Starting point is 01:09:20 I don't know what I'm supposed to say. It's okay. Really? We're sure that was going in, refs? Does he mean to? It kind of looks like he does, but that's, you know, you're interpreting there. That's not black and white. interesting. Wild will take it. They get the OT win.
Starting point is 01:09:37 Good tilt last night. Nick Deloree, one of the best scrappers in the league. Wi-Fi, Arbor Jack-Eye. Doesn't turn down many fights with the Habs. Deloree beat up his younger brother earlier. They fought Jack-Eye's brother in the preseason, so you got to know that Arbor Jack-I had this one. Circle. Too good guys. Nobody gets a right. Crossed by Doloree. and a right upper cut from Deloree against those rights going
Starting point is 01:10:04 and that Jack guy goes back with some lefts. That's a shot at the end there. How's your job? Arbor Jack guy might look like he's smuggling an apple inside his cheek today. Ouch. Delorey's spooky, man. He's a monster.
Starting point is 01:10:22 He is a beast. No one wanted to fight him on the flames? I get it. I'm not going to criticize. Pick your spots. Yeah. Yeah. If your Reeves or Rempbe or Olivier, sure.
Starting point is 01:10:34 Everyone else? No, just we're good. You don't want to give the oppositions. No, no, no, no. Don't swing the momentum, Dean, momentum. I don't want to do it. And our boy, the roller coaster Zadorov, Zad Dogg, was added. He, look at their super rookie, Matthew Schaefer, takes a bit of a cross-checks last punch to the back of the head and gets dumped.
Starting point is 01:10:54 Watch the Islanders react as the first overall pick gets dumped by Zadora. One, two, dog pile, three, four, and Schaefer's underneath them all. If this looks like a power play for the islanders? Bunk. Oh, Zad Dog's not going to take no shit. No, not from a kid, not from anybody. Don't hold my stick. Oh, you're after our super rookie,
Starting point is 01:11:18 who's like almost a point per game at 18 years of age on defense? We'll all team up on the Zad Dog. I was chatting with the What Chaos guys, the show out of Boston. They are like not Zadorov's a good player defendants so much as he is the most exciting player in the league because you never know what he's going to do, and he's insane. The roller coaster. I can't disagree.
Starting point is 01:11:40 Yeah, he's the Rolio coaster for sure. Big time. What do they call that to the Knott's Perry Farmer? What's the roller coaster? I can't stop. There's a pop. Some flags, six flags. He's a roller coaster.
Starting point is 01:11:53 NFL trade deadline was yesterday. What did the bills do, right? They got a new upstart defensive end from Pittsburgh's. I have no idea. Yeah, they did nothing. It was busy, though. Six trades yesterday. That's one of the busiest days in the last,
Starting point is 01:12:12 geez, 35 years, 10 trades back in 22 and 8 a year ago, the only busier days in the last 30. Some significant deals. We were on the show yesterday when Soss Gardner got moved to the Colts. They got a first player, some other assets.
Starting point is 01:12:29 Then they moved Quinn and Williams, the three-time pro bowler. It's a big boy, one of their best D. Lyman in the league. Jets in it to lose. And Cowboys are doing what? They, they're three, five on one. Well, Jerry's got the boys rolling.
Starting point is 01:12:45 I'm not going to talk to Keller. Figure out what's the one's good one. Figure out what's your team doing, bud. That was a big deal. Breece Hall did not get traded. Apparently he heard that the boys were going. He really, I'm coming. I'll go to Dallas.
Starting point is 01:13:00 I'll go to Indiana. I don't care. Give me out of here. poor breeze not necessarily because they're now without sauce gardener and quinn william the morale has to be so low how do they do they win a game again professional athletes dean they're out there to win you know what they get the uh they get the bingo machine that rats been talking about they're playing different positions they're having fun they love going to go to go to chup to nashville it's gonna be good yeah yeah not good
Starting point is 01:13:29 not good. Those are the biggest deals of the day. We also mentioned yesterday that Rashid Shaheed moved to the Seahawks from New Orleans. They also moved an O-Alignment of the Chargers who have lost three different alignments so far this year. Very exciting. There's your Thursday nighter.
Starting point is 01:13:46 That goes tomorrow. Denver's been sneaky good. They lead the AFC West, seven and two. Hoo! Don't mind the slow start. Broncos are for real. And the Raiders, well, Yeah, they still suck, guys.
Starting point is 01:14:01 They really do. Not great. Suck a lot. And that's what happens when you have Gino Smith, I guess, isn't it? Poor Pete Carroll. Pete Carroll. I mean, wealthy Pete Carroll, but sure. Not a good team at all, really.
Starting point is 01:14:16 You ever wish you could bring an old dog back? Because Tom Brady wished it and then made it happen. He says his dog, Junie is a clone of a previous family dog. He's an investor. In some cloning company. What? They took blood before the dog died, and they literally cloned his old dog that they lost in 2023.
Starting point is 01:14:38 Well, you're a dog guy, Rhett. This sounds like something you'd be. I think this is great. This is, uh, I've looked into it for myself. Uh, I don't want things to ever end. So I'm going to continue on with the traditions of Rhett. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:14:53 You can bring one dog back in your life. Who's the dog? Let's go around the room. Jack, which dog are you bringing back? my Chaco Lab chief that just passed away. Oh, Chief. Chief. Ryan, what are you doing?
Starting point is 01:15:05 Dean, which is there anything like worse that you could? Tom is teaching us. They're not gone. Oh my God. Which dog are you bringing back? Shut up. Red. Old Yeller.
Starting point is 01:15:18 They had to shoot that prick. He hates dogs. He hates them so much. How do you hate dogs? They're wonderful. I want to bring back prior to when he got bitten. about arabis. Oh, dear.
Starting point is 01:15:33 Because as we all know, Rhett, sometimes, you got to shoot your dog. You got to get mad at me? I'm talking about bringing them back to life. He's talking about killing them. You brought him. He's talking about killing dogs.
Starting point is 01:15:44 I'm talking about bringing them back to life. You're mad at me. Do you tell Pinder about the dog escapades that are going on at home? I never know how much to bring up because it's like, yeah, I don't want to talk about that on the show. I don't want to talk about it. Rhett, let's get a dog update.
Starting point is 01:16:00 We're pausing the Pinder. for a moment. Okay, so we are in an Uber going for ribs on one day in Nashville. Saturday. That's right. And the youngest Warner calls, hey, dad. So, Red gets them on speakers. I need to get into an email.
Starting point is 01:16:20 So which email address? So Red's kind of walking them through. Okay, so go in there and click on the thing and all right. So is there an email from, how would I? Just go into the search and you can search that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. The young man has taken it upon himself to reach out to a dog breeder about when their next litter of puppies might be. And could they be put on the list for a puppy?
Starting point is 01:16:46 I'm getting credit. That's working. Rather than just asking, he's getting shit done. Good for you. Unbelievable. Not going to sit on dad's laurels. So he's going to take things into his own hands. He's been learning.
Starting point is 01:16:56 I feel like if I just let us, I feel like dad's heart really. It's not a lot forward momentum here, leaving it up to dad. Maybe I'll just go and get on the internet and surf around looking at different breeders in the area and reach out. Kind of dog don't want, a big or small color. Hi, Mr. Warner. Thank you for your interest in blog-a-block of kennels. We're looking at potentially a spring litter. We'd love for you to come by and see and learn more.
Starting point is 01:17:26 Yeah, the young man. You know what? He's a go-getter. I like that, right? I don't know where he gets it from. I can say it's a go-getter. Do some DNA testing there. I hear it skips a generation, baby.
Starting point is 01:17:39 Footprint, sand at time, work boots. Yeah, out of boy. Oh, I was so cute. And work, but. And you know what? He didn't even sound that hard. Like, oh, there was none of that. Well, in spring, there's a litter in spring.
Starting point is 01:17:52 Patience, too. Gosh. That's like, all right, I got to go. We're here. We're going to eat ribs. See it. So it's a tough love. You're teaching them right.
Starting point is 01:18:03 Great. You want it? You got to go get it. We mentioned it with noodles. Toronto Blue Jays will have Shane Bieber back in the fold. He had a $16 million opto. You either take the 16 to play one more year or you become a free agent. Definitely could have got more on a one-year deal,
Starting point is 01:18:16 but maybe this is the one-year deal that launches him into a big next contract. You're certainly going to have a good defense behind you. And he spoke very glowingly about the room, the teammates. That's a big piece for the Blue Jays. with Shane Basset and Max Scherzer done their deals and potentially out of the rotation. Big get. Solid. Talking about baseball.
Starting point is 01:18:39 They blew it. Let's move on. We got one more baseball thing for you because it's just too perfect. This is Vince Scully introducing David Wells as a blue jay. His name is boomer. It was given to him by Lloyd Mosby when he was pitching for Toronto. He is six feet four, 245 pounds, and he wore a t-shirt in spring. spring training that said, I beat anorexia.
Starting point is 01:19:03 If that guy is 2.45, I'll eat all of our hats. There's no way he's 245. 6-4-245. Yeah, no. Boomer. This is Nicknick. I am aware. Ratt likes the new sports.
Starting point is 01:19:19 We've got to show him this new one that's blowing up in Latin America. It looks like some sort of an adaptation of basketball. Let's take a peek. if you're interested. Behind the back. Look at the handles. Oh, wow. Unicycle hoop?
Starting point is 01:19:42 Are you kidding me? Wow. I can hardly get into my truck. No, that's no. This guy's dunking off a unicycle. This one guy looks like he's got 99 on. He's the Wayne Gratsky of Unicycle ball. Wow.
Starting point is 01:19:59 Man bun and all. A.I. It's a young man's game. This one appears to be. Yeah. Is that you pinder? I don't like something. What was that you?
Starting point is 01:20:08 I didn't know you could. I went to out there, dental-eyed hair like this. Go back today. Finally, just to remind Boomer, there is happiness in life. We go back to the world famous dog bus. Come on, come back, come back, come back, come on. Bus is here. Oh, there's bear.
Starting point is 01:20:33 Trendle's down the stairs. Look at this, hey. Best year. life every day. And Redd hates these animals. How is it even possible? Oh, winter. We're still doing the bus. That is. Hey, bud. Welcome to bar. Look at them. And then we got a, we got a birthday girl at the back here. She's shaking like a leaf there. That's good stuff. Dean, happiness is there. You just need to make the right decision. Yeah. Red, get your goddamn kid a dog or get your kid a goddamn. Does it look like I got to do it?
Starting point is 01:21:09 He's, yeah, he's got. Literally, it's great. That is your Pinda report this Wednesday, November 5th. We do it for Village Honda. Of course, they got lots of new vehicles on the lot. And of course, some in-stock pre-owned inventory as well over 90 units there. And access to more than 500 in the dealer group, Vlachana.com, located in the Northwest Auto Mall.
Starting point is 01:21:32 It's where all your automotive adventures begin, your dealership for life. Very nice. Very nice. I guess a couple things we didn't talk about we did in the picks football picks from last week. I'm in. I'm absolutely in. Come on, Jack,
Starting point is 01:21:51 throw the picks up. Let's go. And there's an update. We do have an update for tonight's game. So we could do whichever we want to do. We can do Bet 365. Why not? Yeah, let's do it.
Starting point is 01:21:59 Bet 365. We love it. The app is awesome. So much fun. There's stuff in there you don't even think about. I bet you that unicycle basketball is in there. it might be. I wouldn't be surprised.
Starting point is 01:22:11 I would take, yeah, who's Man Bun playing for? 99. They look strong. I'm going to take the over on 19 and a half points. Download the app, get in in the game. You must be 19 years of age or older,
Starting point is 01:22:21 whatever your bed is. It's never ordinary at that 365. Use the code nation when you sign up if you haven't already. And, you know, the last bonus there. And there's always something going on in the app. I think that's what makes them tremendous is,
Starting point is 01:22:33 even if you're not in your headspace isn't thinking, okay, they've built this or there's different things. things going on. I kind of like that. Bam, hit it. All right. Oh, rough week for me. We'll go left to right. Jen. I was worse this week. Stupid chargers just giving up 14 points in the first quarter, right in front of me, pain in the ass. Packers got upset, never mind covering the huge number of 13. The Patriots somehow did not cover the five and a half against. Was it the Falcons? Falcons, yeah. Oh, one and three. No good. I dropped to five games under 500.
Starting point is 01:23:05 Red. Y'all suck and we all put four games and I went three and one and I would have been fine except that quarterback broke his damn arm. That's a good by the way. Yes. I'm only one game under 500 fellows. I am climbing. Red's salvaging this season. This is impressive.
Starting point is 01:23:26 Points. Remember what I said? Everyone's treating these teams at home. They got the home field advantage. Jack's birthday. You did say that. There's three points. come on.
Starting point is 01:23:36 Yeah, the Titans were real good at home. Giffrapped. What happened to the Lions? I didn't see any of that game other than they were just getting stomped. They just kept giving up points to the Vikings over and over. McCarthy Brown looked all right. That'd be a nice development from the Vikings. Yeah, Rams win rather easily.
Starting point is 01:23:58 Staff Daddy! Staff Daddy! Staff Daddy! Seahawks minus three. They won easel. yeah, the lines got worked and the charges couldn't cover. Should have. Yeah, if they, one of
Starting point is 01:24:11 the early miscues gifted them 14 points. Yeah. How come no one took my bills? Always take the bills. It's not ever what you say. No. You tell us to stay away from your I'm saying that you guys are ignorant
Starting point is 01:24:30 because you think you're so smart and you don't, you're scared of taking them against the Chiefs. Well, we are ignorance. I can't debate that. I'm 5 under, Dean's 10 under, and Jack's three games under 500.
Starting point is 01:24:41 You're a victory away, Rhett from respectability. At least one of us has to finish the season above 500, Eugenius savant. And I'm not sure what's going on with Jack, because, you know,
Starting point is 01:24:53 it seemed like maybe Jack's made some good picks. What's going on, Jack? I don't know. It's been a tough year. I mean, it shouldn't be this hard. It isn't.
Starting point is 01:25:01 It really isn't. Like we're doing coin flips every week. geez stupid tails that would be the thing to do is just do coin flips versus us i'm not far from that dean if i have another under 500 week i'm going to a coin i'm literally going to do a coin flip on the show and it'll be better than my picks when do we want to do friday yeah sure yeah we'll do picks friday uh the thursday nighter i just mentioned in the pinderbroider against uh yeah lebegas i don't know that everyone wants that sure but like no we'll do it i don't let's get out friday friday friday
Starting point is 01:25:34 you can do it at work with your friends. Maybe you go go in on one together. Maybe you have a little friendly competition. That's why we love Bet365. Game props, player props, totals, money line, and so much more. Get into the app. Play responsibly. Be 19 or older.
Starting point is 01:25:52 Whatever your bet is. It's never ordinary at Bet365. Yeah. Uh, some, uh, some notes for tonight's game. The roster will look a little bit different. Ahoy. When it takes to the ice tonight for the Calgary Flames. Steinberg. So the Frost on the wing with Cadry
Starting point is 01:26:08 experiment looks to be over at least for a moment. Connor Zerry on the wing with Cadry and Farabee on the right side. Hubertoe with Frost back down the middle and Coronado on the right side. The Backland-Colman-Honzick Trio remains the same. Sharon Govich, centering, Lomburg and Klapka. So, Kirkland, your odd man out. On the blue line, Ball Anderson, again. Handley Weeger and Jan Kuznetsov.
Starting point is 01:26:35 Oh, she's Nebulae on Kuznetsov. We'll play with Braden Pahal. So Pahal couldn't get into the lineup, but now has been in a little bit. So Bean and Zane Perak. It's the Perak bean salad, which if you can find it, your delicious.
Starting point is 01:26:48 The fellas out on the back end and Dustin Wolf will go in that. So it's a, I guess when you look at those lines, Red, on one hand, we, I'm kind of being serious. On one hand, it's like,
Starting point is 01:27:02 oh, you just put bingo balls. Sharon Govich down the middle can be debated, but again, you're, I want to see Connor Zeri not playing down the lineup. Yeah, that's fair. I don't have a problem with that comment. You've seen too much out or fourth line of Zeri. Yeah. A guy with offensive instincts, work with guys with offensive instincts.
Starting point is 01:27:25 I don't disagree with you, but it all falls back to the same thing. We're continually harp on is that they're all the same, they're not all the same player, but they're all the same realm of players. even Sharon Govich down the middle. Right? Like move him up to those top nine, whatever you're calling it. On the way, yeah.
Starting point is 01:27:44 And you can interact them anywhere. Perfect world. Yeah, I, yeah, it's not, if not, like you say, if not the same player, you can kind of imagine them having the same output offensive. Yeah, same role.
Starting point is 01:27:56 They got a lot of way here, boys. You want to be in the top nine. Yeah, we want Zeri. Yeah. I want Zeri to have opportunity. Absolutely. I think he can be. if he's going to be, he's going to be offensive to a certain extent.
Starting point is 01:28:11 But it's the same with Sherrikovich. He's not any use to me trying to kill penalties. Well, and I'll say this. Like, if you have a chance to move a winger, and I get it, it's early. But there's just, there's always going to be one guy sour. It's Zeri that's out, or it's Coronado that's out, or it's Sharon Govich playing center on the fourth line. Like, there's one too many guys right now, and there'll be two when posthal's ever healthy. help yourself, Craig.
Starting point is 01:28:42 I don't care if you turn a guy into a fourth rounder, like open up some room. Like you're going to want Matt Vey Gridden here in the spring. You've got some guys that are. So would you trade Sharon Govich for a fourth? You can't trade Sharon Govich for a fourth with his salary. Would you trade Farabee for a fourth? Sure.
Starting point is 01:28:57 I mean, you brought more. But point being. But that's what you're saying. But then that's not what you're saying. Well, okay, so I'm exaggerating with a fourth. But like, if you have an opportunity to move a winger at something that's close to what you think's market value. I think the only is on you to do it.
Starting point is 01:29:12 Like I'm sure he is, yes. And I'm not saying he's not trying to do it, but it's just there's a problem here that we've spotted a long time ago, and there's too many wingers. I would guess it's probably the same topic of conversation as we are tired of talking about it. At their office.
Starting point is 01:29:26 I would guess the coaches and Craig and Maloney and all of those guys. Is there anything out there? Who needs a winger? Is there anybody? Well, the one thing they haven't tried is. We could get a fourth for, Joel Farabee.
Starting point is 01:29:39 I've got five million bucks for another two years. I just don't know if that's what, you know, is that what you want to do? And I guess the only other thing, and I think Frost has been okay this year, you would love to see. And I do wonder, could Coronado and Frost be a tandem? Because Coronado is a shooter. Yeah. And Frost is okay at distributing the puck. He's a transporter for sure.
Starting point is 01:30:04 Can he unlock, because it's not been a great start for Coronado. the goals have not been there. What, two in the first game or whatever? St. Louis. It's not been a ton. Can you play those two together and then whatever on the other side? You guys on the other side. Get Coronado score.
Starting point is 01:30:17 Second game in a row for those three. I'm not surprised that Coronado's not crushing it. Yeah. It would be nice, but it feels like it's one of those certain circumstances where a kid gets a contract. He's trying to play to it. It happens too often for it not to be a thing. And they don't score anyway.
Starting point is 01:30:37 Yeah, that's the whole thing. You know, it's offense breeds offense. Why don't these guys have points? Well, they're the lowest scoring team in the lake. You can watch the power play and they can get in the zone sometimes and they can set it up. It is so, it's just not. 29 to the NHL at 13 and a half. It's not offensively minded.
Starting point is 01:30:59 And that's fine. You're going to play a defensively minded system and cater to what you have for talent. But it's not. They do zip, zap, zip, zip, whatever that. Hell, you guys are saying, they don't have that. They don't have it. They don't have the depth of offensive creativity that drives those things. And it's all, I don't know that it's letting him off the hook at all,
Starting point is 01:31:25 but it almost feels like when we watch Hansek, anything you get offensively as a bonus. It's just, well, he's with Coleman and Backlin, so they're kind of a shutdown or whatever. It be nice for him to chip in, but it feels like, well, now it's not a, he's not a complete waste of a pick. he's actually playing, so that's great. But there needs to be more than that. The two immovable forces in the lineup have been the back-in-line. They've been hesitant to break up, and they haven't split ball and Anderson.
Starting point is 01:31:50 Everything else has been just absolute shuffle the deck. What's the better approach, Dino and Ryan? So just for Hansick, as an example, not that we've given up on him, but because we have no expectation, well, he's still a right. I don't mind. Coronado or whoever else you want to pick as a young guy.
Starting point is 01:32:13 And even in general, for if you were running a team, what's a better thing to do? Put high expectations on them and, or is it, yeah, go play. No,
Starting point is 01:32:21 that's fair. I almost think if you get a healthy possible in the near term, then you've got another too many body body. I don't know where the organization's at on Hansick down the middle. They haven't tried at this level. They tried it in the A. Like,
Starting point is 01:32:35 do you send them to the A for a couple months until them play in the top one center? I was going to say to you, or just to all of us. Like you say a lot of times, like, what are you? Yeah. It's like,
Starting point is 01:32:42 well, are you a center? Well, no, you're not. Okay. So you're a winger. Are you a scorer? Not really. Are it.
Starting point is 01:32:47 It's another middle six winger. Is there a thousand of? So you're a checker that doesn't seem to have a lot of offensive ability and you're big, but you don't really play big and you're not a center. Go see if he's a center. Put him in the end center. That would be a center. That would be more valuable.
Starting point is 01:33:05 Yeah. If you want to be a big, strong. You don't need to be physical. You don't need to fight. But if you can be good in the dot and be a... Yes. Then you're salvaging.
Starting point is 01:33:16 So to a certain extent, that first turn them into a Joel Otto. I'm with you. I don't think it's unreasonable. Now, maybe he's getting mopped on draws in the A and they've moved on from it. But like he played some setters.
Starting point is 01:33:29 Here's the thing about face off. And I honestly mean this, because I've watched enough guys improve their face off game. that isn't a it's a skill but it's an achievable skill yeah it's talk practice practice practice
Starting point is 01:33:43 time and practice like practice practice practice practice practice practice practice practice practice do you get fucking better at it yeah it's not a I need to learn how to skate and change my stride this is this it's not a genetic yeah totally detriment it's or a guy that just can't finish like well I doesn't back on squirrel
Starting point is 01:34:01 well he never has like he's not a great finisher no it's not a boring gift to be good at faceoffs. It's just work. You've got to put it. Raps. So put them in the end. Boring, boring. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:34:11 Like let them work on draws and play in center. That's a more valuable piece. And it's a mindset. As you see now. As you see now. Middle six wingers readily available. Centers, hard to find. You go take a look at San Juan's faceoff numbers.
Starting point is 01:34:25 Are they good? You go take a look at his followers. And I'm not just these bad or good. I said, I don't know. I'm going to, I'll kill some time here. Another thing I wanted to mention. I saw on Eric Francis's Twitter. I get asked all the time, what do you think about Francis?
Starting point is 01:34:38 You like, what's Francis? I like, Francis is a polarizing guy. The human, I like a great deal. I really like Eric Francis. Like, he's a great guy. But then when he goes on Sportsnet or whatever, you know, he's brash. That is, it's like a Stephen A. Smith thing, right? It's, he portrays Eric Francis on TV.
Starting point is 01:34:59 He's a great guy. The 23rd Eric Francis Pizza Pigout was held last week, two weeks ago. which is where they go to cowboys and they bring over pizza. Yeah, it happened. Sorry. Anyway, and raising money for charity. This year's event, $105,000 raised for kids' sport. Unreal.
Starting point is 01:35:22 Pizza. For a night of pizza and. Yon shakes and celebrities. They've got food eating contests. Yeah, they get everybody pays to get in. The celebrities kind of donate some money. They get the pizzas are all donated. for free silent auction items, all that sort of stuff,
Starting point is 01:35:38 a hundred, north of a hundred grand. That's, so when, when, if you're going to ask you, well, it's Eric,
Starting point is 01:35:44 it's a good guy. I like, great, got a lot of time for it. So pretty, I'm always, quick to tell him, because it went away and then he brought it back.
Starting point is 01:35:53 It's like, geez, it's going to be a lot of work. It's a lot of money that would just be. Not there for, not there for a great charity if it were not for Eric. So, well done.
Starting point is 01:36:01 Hansick four faceoffs this year. Okay. Four for four. Hold. That's perfect. What more do we need to see? He's 100%. Best face-up guy in the league.
Starting point is 01:36:14 What are we doing here? Put him down the middle. I'm not sure you can do it. Can you do better than that? You could say he's a natural. God, he's good. They don't track stats of the A or I'd be all over that for face-offs. I know you would be.
Starting point is 01:36:27 God. They don't track stats in the A-A-G-R-time. It's ridiculous. What kind of Mickey Mouse sport are we? I know. I know. Time on. nice they don't i'll check face off i know that was what are we talking about get a i program and get
Starting point is 01:36:42 go it a hl great you start that program you'll be making the millions go get it good god people well you got to kiss ass to get in with these was that right that's what they say should be good at that no it's what i've got the great ideas i just can't execute yeah i burn bridges really yeah sometimes things slip out The most inopportune moment. We're swearing too much. Bleep this and this bleeping guy should get bench and bleep that. These bleeping coaches.
Starting point is 01:37:13 You're sitting in a meeting with people and you just kind of calm out. You know what you need is you need to, it's like in kid hockey, they have a 24-hour rule where you just kind of instead of cool off saying what's on your mind and venting, you take a day. And if you still feel that passionately about it, then you take a more calm approach, but you do address it then.
Starting point is 01:37:34 See, I, I, I agree with the 24-hour rule, but usually on the way out the door, I like to throw something to be considered for the next 24 hours and then a little hand grenade. Yeah, just lob one in there on your way out. Yeah. And you suck, and I never liked your systems. And this guy's a jerk. See you out. Well, that doesn't really fall into the maybe a 48-hour rule then.
Starting point is 01:38:02 Yeah, like if you yell a, well, you can go F your hat. Is that? I wouldn't advise that. That constructive or? I don't know how constructive that activity's ever been for as much as it's been recommended to people. Could maybe be taken the wrong way, potentially? You know what? People are soft.
Starting point is 01:38:21 Yeah, Dean, we can handle that. I don't know the rest of society can handle. I know. We can't. Yeah. It's a good thing. A lot of reps. Maybe they need the 48 hour rule.
Starting point is 01:38:31 Maybe. Deal with me. Could be. Try that. Try that. Are they going to get the 48 hours? hours or did they get another solid dose of RET coming up in about 25?
Starting point is 01:38:44 There's a steam. It's no. Yeah. The steam trains, the locomotives on the track. Yeah. We threw some pole in the back. She got all heated up. Can't stop this now. Got inertia. Momentum. Get the bird in the air. Okay, so we did
Starting point is 01:39:00 365. We took a look at our bets. You had the... I showed you the cadre parlay as well. The cadre parlay. Plus 110 for a point and three shots. Let's go. What's going on there? What's going on there? We can hit this on the way out. A little super chat for you. Super. Money raised for the youth centers of Calgary.
Starting point is 01:39:16 See, I mean, we're doing our part two. Doing all right. You know, you do your thing. Hey, we're doing all right here. Got that on our social school. Watch the interview with Jane Walkwich. Josh Forbes. Forbes is.
Starting point is 01:39:27 Speaking of music movies, what's taking so long for a meatloaf biopic starting Jack Black? That would work. Yeah, he would seem, you don't want to typecast them. Josh get to Hollywood and write that script. Yeah, meatloaf's dead. And delicious. You don't like it. It's good.
Starting point is 01:39:46 I don't prefer not yet. Seems weird. How do you make bread out of me? But yes, Jack Black is a, he's a tremendous musician. It's funny. You got to, is meatloaf big enough? I don't know.
Starting point is 01:40:02 Like, I know my parents when they were always, they were hammered, you know, when they were drunk and dancing. They love Paradise by the dashboard light. So people, people also play tub thumping but like chumbo wamba yeah when's the chumbo wamba sometimes the uh sometimes the billboard 100 is not the best measure of actual we'll let it marinate josh we'll let that one marinate for a little bit and we'll uh we'll see where we
Starting point is 01:40:27 five bucks for the kids thanks josh not berry number two get ret to try and pronounce uh the bruin's forward's name oh my gosh and i i got a out of this can trade from minnesota last I typed it out last night and then I went to do it phonetically and I didn't really know how to do it. Cusn, I'm going to hurt myself. Cus not, Dinov. Hutzedinov. Hutzneddinov.
Starting point is 01:40:58 I don't do color. It's going to take more than seven bucks. I don't think you guys should be making fun of people's names. That's be it. I'm making fun. I'm making fun. I'm making fun. Then a little, uh, some hashtag team tag hashtag, hashtag mission McKenna.
Starting point is 01:41:14 Michigan can't. At the end. Get your shirts, by the way. With some fire emojis. Yeah, if you go to a nationgear.ca, you go to the flames, Flames gear site. Yeah, we were flipping through a phone book,
Starting point is 01:41:25 picked a random page. The name McKenna was there. We thought, let's make some shirts to say Mission McKenna. Hope you're on the same page as us. Every year, we're going to pick a letter and find a name. That's right. Oh, big bear.
Starting point is 01:41:38 699. What's with the 699? Is that a, because you always say, 699. Corey Perry scored two goals for Canada in an Olympic elimination game versus Russia in 2010. And I swore I'd never say another bad thing about him. It's been hard. It has been hard.
Starting point is 01:41:55 You shouldn't say bad things about anyone. Be positive. To the cultural capital. That was tough too. Like we're at 1,400 games. That's a lot. You can appreciate it. I can't.
Starting point is 01:42:06 Melanby did that. I don't give a shit. Okay. I mean, Corey Perry, he's not skirting the edges. No, that's a hard brand. He's getting right in there. Yeah. But he is a dirtball.
Starting point is 01:42:22 How many finals has he lost in the last five years? We're busy. Poor past. And again, I will bring it up. Stupid stats. That's regular season games. Yeah, that doesn't include his playoffs. That's wild.
Starting point is 01:42:36 He'll have a ton of those. It is something that we have to get the historians to experience. playing why we're not including playoff games, which are even harder to, like, get to and get points in. Make the sense to me. I'm going to get you as playoff numbers. Is that it, uh, Jay. Why is Huska getting ripped in these comments? I don't typically look at the point.
Starting point is 01:42:57 It's like you want to rebuild. Teams in the last place. And now you're slinging arrows at the coach. Like, you can't pick. This guy, start playing young guy. The whole line of this. What is? Who's he not playing with one kid?
Starting point is 01:43:09 Correct. Correct. That's, so that's the young guy? you don't I get to tell you. Carlson at the same age. I know 20 games. This is very normal for an offense. He's a defenseman.
Starting point is 01:43:20 Bill Holden there. Outta boy, Billy. Oh, Billy Holden. Rhett, you're a beauty. All I got to say is see you fellas in Calgary soon from VA. Oh, Billy. That'd be in the USA. That's Virginia, Dean.
Starting point is 01:43:33 Is that Virginia? Virginia. Yeah. That's by Washington. Is that one of our boys that we saw on the weekend? That's our boy. We had a Virginiaite there. I don't really say that.
Starting point is 01:43:41 Virginia? Something like that. Yeah. Yeah. That's right by it. Because guys that play for the caps, a lot of them live in Virginia, right? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:43:50 Yeah. Yeah. Aren't they going to move their rink there or something? They did, and then I think they got bribed to stay back downtown. Yeah. Well, what's his name there, Ted Leonces? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:43:59 Teddy. It's probably just changing. Probably not. On top of the 1400, Perry played in the regular season, 205 playoff games, Red. Two and a half seasons.
Starting point is 01:44:10 He's added in playoff games. for no money. Free. I hope Perry's doing okay that way. Volunteer work. Man, butter is expensive. It's like,
Starting point is 01:44:20 God's dang right it is, Dean. I got the visa the other day. Who, okay. Hey, Jack,
Starting point is 01:44:26 when's the last time you and Bob Butter? It's been a while. Yeah? What do you figure? Why you should have went on Tuesday? It was yesterday. It was yesterday.
Starting point is 01:44:33 All the old birds were out there, crashing their carts into things, knocking shit over. What are you paying for a pound of butter there, Jack? What is it? Like six bucks? Six, seven bucks for a pound. And you know what?
Starting point is 01:44:47 That's like two and a half bowls of popcorn. That does a lot of popcorn. Does not. The conversion rates. Wow. I'm just doing the math. Yeah. That's a lot of butter.
Starting point is 01:44:58 That's up in a hurry. That's the super chat for it today. So either big bowls of popcorn or you like it wet. So all the, uh, the Pinder fans can be some tough sledding here for you. ender fans. Yeah. People love you. Your hot take of two,
Starting point is 01:45:16 your own energy that you bring. I mean, Jack's going to be happy you're gone because you know, right in his ass for a job this week. Great days. Thanks guys. You don't happen to Z.
Starting point is 01:45:26 You know, you get a school break. Boy, these kids are going to be waxed all this school classroom time. Let's take advantage and do a little vacation. Three weeks,
Starting point is 01:45:32 three and a half week teacher strike. Can we cancel this vacation? They're not sick of school. They don't need a break. They need a break. They need a break. They need a break. I've been teaching.
Starting point is 01:45:42 So you're taking your kids out of school for a couple days. There's a four-day break. We'll make it like six. Whatever. Gotcha. We're bringing workbooks. That's a good thing you didn't go to the World Series because between that and you went to Seattle and you went now you're going to Nashville.
Starting point is 01:45:59 Now you're going to California. Check out the Kings and Panthers tomorrow night. That'll be a fun one. Charges play Sunday against Jack Steelers, but I won't give them the pleasure of me watching the Steelers be the So I'm not going to go to that. You went to Nashville and watched sports the whole weekend and now you're going to go on a trip to LA. One sporting event in eight days.
Starting point is 01:46:18 Chill on. Do better. One. Well, I hope you have a great time. Yeah, you do. That hurts some to say that. No, I'm just sincere. I don't know why you.
Starting point is 01:46:32 No, I hope that's great for you. This reminds me of the conversation we had within minutes of the end of game seven or my favorite team that I cheer for, ripped my heart out beating in front of my own eyes. R&B in with a six and that. Hoska favors the vets. No accountability for costly mistakes. Remember Hartley? Used always earned, never given?
Starting point is 01:46:53 Always earned, never given. R&B, do not use Hartley as a positive reference. That's not a good for anything good. It's, yeah. Those teams did perform a little bit for them. Some of them did. They hated it. Interestingly, the moment they gave them an exception.
Starting point is 01:47:10 extension stopped. We've seen that with a few different coaches here. I believe he was fired as the reigning Jack Adams winner. That's happened more than you'd think in the last 20 years in the NHL. Amazing. Amazing. We got some shrimp on the barbie, some foreign currency.
Starting point is 01:47:29 That's two Aussie dollars, mate. Shrimp on the bobby. What is this word, Rhett? Where do you rate? Savapi. Savapi for cooked meat. Red's good one right now.
Starting point is 01:47:40 Good one? No clue. GTS. This is a shrimp-based dish. Grilled milk. Mints meat found traditionally in countries of southeast Europe. Have not had Savapi. Send me some Savapi.
Starting point is 01:47:56 We'll dabble in it and give you a real feedback. Real honest. Minced meat. We're the mince meat is called mince meat. And there's nothing meat about it, right? Like you have mince meat tarts and that around Christmas time? It's like. No, you don't.
Starting point is 01:48:11 Not if you're a real human and you value your calories. Well, some people in our. Wildly popular grilled dish. R&B. Do some research on Hartley and the type of person he was. Just Stano. Well, R&B is back in. Hartley had his team moving the puck well, Red.
Starting point is 01:48:33 Before or after he got fired. Like, yeah, the one year. And you don't notice he limped in there with just the $2.79. That's good. No, no, it's good. It's fine. It's all right. It adds up.
Starting point is 01:48:43 They did play decent for a while, but there's... He had those guys rolling. He's one of the few coaches in the world that has had people put his name on a... No trade move. I think it's the only one in NHL history where the player literally said, I want a no trade. And they're like, what city? He's like, no. What do you mean?
Starting point is 01:49:01 I'm like, I will not go to a Hartley team. You can trade me to any city. It's just not a Bob Hartley team. It's tremendous. That is so wicked. The passion. Oh, you really got a hated guy to do that. Yeah, I like that.
Starting point is 01:49:15 That's true, hate you. Afterburner tonight, post-game, 730 start jackets and flames, Nazam-Codry, game 1000. Trade should be announced by midnight. That's great. 10.30, depending on extra time. So a little after burner.
Starting point is 01:49:30 On the YouTube's, and we'll be back tomorrow, Sands, you. Ret and I will try our best. Silver stick ceremony, all that. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Don't miss it. there's probably one company that does that, right? God, they're just raking it in, eh?
Starting point is 01:49:44 See, again, why can't we get to be that company? We could have been right. How hard is it to do a stick? You get a little spurs of silver in there, that it's set. We're good. Yeah. Seems easy. You need one mold.
Starting point is 01:49:55 It's the same damn stick for every. Right or left. What do we got here? Are they curved? Oh, yeah. So what's in to the actual? No, they're not. Are they?
Starting point is 01:50:05 Are they a curve? Maybe I'm out to lunch. I've never seen one. I assume they're curved. I didn't get one. You do that all the time. Are they curved? Oh, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:50:14 I've never seen one and I don't really know, but I will come in with authority and tell you that absolutely they are. That's what I do. Tell some matter with you. You're getting one of these just because. On the way out, Jack, how was the show today? A lot better than yesterday. Yeah, that's fair.
Starting point is 01:50:31 For us or you? What hell does that mean? For all of us. Yeah. Well, you come back for four days in Nashville. You're not going to get any gold plaques. That's fair. You seem to,
Starting point is 01:50:39 have that tone yesterday. I don't remember yesterday. Rocking a three-day hangover. Like, guys, 27 going on 72. All right. Have a good vacation, Ryan. Love you. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:50:54 I hope there's no snarls or snafus with your travel. Yeah, well, I'm sure that government shut down will be real nice with our four checked bags. I hope everything goes more than you have just the best time ever. I appreciate that. See you, buddy.
