And then last week he changed his tune and he loves them. That's right. It's just he sprinkles a little bit of positivity and no one sees it coming and they love them. That's their approach.

Really, eh? No kidding. It was, uh, I over did it. at one time. Greg had the big delivery and I took home, I was going to say a pale, but then that sounds like you're exaggerating, except it's not a pail of potato salad and just kept eating it and eating it. You can't stop with that potato salad. And the woman that I live with, she was kind of the same way. By 9 p.m. that night, it was like, oh, well, you walk by the fridge, you've got to have a bite. You know, it's in there. It's fresh. Just yes. Double bacon.

I had a travel cup on Friday in the console of the car and it's just like, it's been sitting here three hours in the sun, I don't give a shit. I went back at that until it was done. Yeah, it was good stuff. So thanks to Greg over, Ponton, taking care of us. There's, uh, so, so you did all, you did the tomahawks, everything? Or did two tomahawks and the flays and, yeah. And I hadn't had the meat pies before. Yes. I'll be having those again. Yeah, we're unbelievable. And I mean, not to take away, but they were, when they come right out, when you're there and you get them and they're crispy like the, yeah, yeah, put them in the air for us. Grito.

Delicious. So back to the wins. Back to the wins. It's great, but they needed them. Yeah. The shitty part about the weekend was the fact that Winnipeg decided to score six goals in two games as well. And the second game, they did it against a real good hockey team.

Jersey. Yeah. The hell, Jersey. So come on, Vanichek. Come on, Jack Hughes. Let's go Dougie. Do they have anything to play for? They've punched their ticket.

They're in. I think it's the. seating in that division. There are two right now. The Rangers are close on their heels and they're not far from Carolina. There's lots to be seen there. I was extremely hopeful that this morning

we would wake up in a playoff position. Not the case. They are two back, but really three back. The jets have officially locked in a tie break should they finish Tidon points. They cannot be caught in regulation wins. So see it as three games back.

No, you play the team once. They do finish with Minnesota and Colorado who look like they'll be playing for seating in those last two games. Or not at all. Or resting everyone. Well, look at the standings. I think they'll be playing for seating.

You've got one point separating all three teams in the central. That's Minnesota, Colorado, and Dallas. I feel like it's, guys, this is home ice or guys, this is home ice through the division. So that's better than like a five-point gap, right? Yeah, we'll see. Because then you might kick them. We'll see what happens. I hope those games are important.

So, any concern? Wasn't a good game. These were white knuckle rides over two? I had my take planned on the Vancouver game when they went down to. I'm like, you're dumb buggers. But then the way they were playing, they were playing our ass off in Vancouver. I thought it was great. Good effort.

Yeah. You cannot fault them on the effort. And they came out with wind. I'm like, I was even on Twitter letting out yells. He had his first audible cheer of the season for a flames goal. I'm telling you, you need push alert on the red tweets. There's like 10. And then.

Who are you? But the, uh, the, uh, the slow. start yesterday was a little bit. I'm like, we don't need this again. We've seen this play out. Come on. We talked about it last night on Afterburner if you want more Flames Ducks content. I know a lot of people do. It's been so good this year. There's a solid half hour of it there. It was right into the scar tissue of their worst games of the season. Early goal, bad goal, lackluster effort against a bottom Dwellar. Mistakes.

Yep. I thought, you know, the result and the score lines are very similar Friday, Sunday. I thought the team's effort very, very different. Not that they didn't try, but it was like, how do you let the 30th place team set the tone? Like, come on, guys. Well, and that's, I was shocked by it because I thought after that game in Vancouver, they have to have momentum. They have to have belief.

They got to be feeling good. They overcame a lot in that game. It's the exact same thing that happened last time they put Anaheim at home. They'd come back from that incredible shootout win over Minnesota. They'd won two games and two nights with travel. It was Marchions for a show of the year. And look at this. Now you got Anaheim, Ottawa, Arizona coming up.

There's your five-game winning streak right there. And then they soiled themselves at home against Anaheim. It felt like that game all over again. It was a tough watch because it felt like it was one they were going to blow. Well, and the thing is how dissimilar was last night's game to an earlier loss against the ducks. The difference being that, Luchich and Zadorov and Michael Stone scored goals. But that's like,

Hey, I was watching the game in here last night, and in that third period, Luchich was on the ice. I'm like, what in the F is he doing on the ice? And it must win with 10 minutes, like whenever he scored, right? Like, I'm like, it's not a shot against him,

but this is not his strength. He should be playing the first period and setting a tone physically, trying to create momentum, not being relied on to tie up. I'm like, goal. Okay, shut your mouth, Warner. You don't know you're talking about it.

Well, and we talked about it. a bunch because we watched the third period together here before Afterburner and it's you want to be upset at it but like if you've watched this club all year that's exactly what they've done every single game the fourth line takes their turn late in the third it drives you nuts but it ain't new you had to expect it if you're watching what Daryl's done his whole career

my only point being is if you don't get a Luchich seeing eye shot and it off the post and in Michael Stoneblast back after 20 games then you lose that you lose that game 100% and the narrative is the same. It was not an insurer. I was not 41, 42, but there again, what are the quality of shots? And Lucas Dostall kept them in it a little bit.

It was not a good game for the flames. Well, and to be fair, their goaltenders didn't help much. Two of those shouldn't go in, at least, maybe more. And if you get good goaltending there, this might not be close. And you can say the flames played well, but when you're going to give up soft goals, and if there's only a couple breakdowns, but they all end up in the back of your net, I mean, it was a February goaltending performance. from the flames.

Yeah, I don't give a crap. They won. Yeah, and that's kind of what we said. Style points don't matter. They needed two. They got two Chicago's tomorrow. It's not Detroit. Are you sure?

Maybe even Detroit, yeah. But it was unscheduled Detroit games will really sneak up on you. Were you shocked that Daryl did the pull of Markstrom after one? Because that second goal, even Millen talked about us, kind of hit him on the wrist or on the... Can't have a rebound there. How do you... No.

And I think he... No. I think Daryl did a lot of good things. I don't agree with him putting the fourth line out in the third period when you're down a goal and a must win. But it works. Oh, okay. He knows more about coaching than I ever will.

Yeah, and we don't probably all agree with Nick Ritchie being in there. No, goal and an assist. We might have liked say, oh, Michael Stone has played in 20 games. He comes in and scores. Like, I don't know that the process is excellent, but the result is what matters. Yeah, the goaltending swap with whether that keyed the comeback, it doesn't matter. You won. So it's, if you're going to get criticized when you make a change or do something and you lose,

then you should be praised. And, yeah, Richie finds a way to get involved. And, you know, Coleman takes a dumb penalty. He finds himself in the fourth line, Walker. doer gets elevated. I don't think that stays that way. But he sets up that Luchich goal. He gets the help with her. And you'd ask about the poll.

I think that the three and four is a big part of it. Last night it was the first of three games in four days. We know about the Chicago Winnipeg back to back coming up. Redd had talked about it last night. You know, you'd love to have the breathing room and the confidence to go Vladar tomorrow so that you have a rested Markstrom. But I

think if they're not playing three and four, Darrell might give Markstrom a little longer there. Because there was a similar situation on you go, the LA game, they didn't pull them after 20 when it was obviously he didn't have it. What do you do tomorrow? I play Vladar, but that's, my head's not on the chopping block if Ladar stinks and Markstrom has to go in after one. Right?

Like, you can't afford to lose. So, it's sitting in this chair, real easy to play Vladar. Really easy. And it's easy to say a goalie's tired when he doesn't look good. And maybe he is, maybe he isn't. I know Greg Millen talked about it on the broadcast. Reddit noted it, but it's 16 of 17 games that Markstrom's been in for the flames. That's a fucking huge workload.

And granted, he's earned it and he's played well. But it does look like a guy, like if you had to convince us there's fatigue right now, it wouldn't be a tough convincing for anyone, would it? And the second part of the reason I'd play Vladar is to give Markstrom the rest. And the fans won't like it if you lose. But if you can't beat, who are we playing? Chicago. Not to try.

Chicago with Ladar. do you deserve to that's it's the whole thing right now right that chances are at the end of this whole thing they are you're going to be what you are if you sneak in then you were a team that deserve to just sneak in and if you miss then you probably deserve to miss i'm with you i probably go of ladar but like anything right now it's short leash and it's shift by shift period by period if it's one or two goals that are no good you put marks from back in at chicago you'd hope to hell you can come back and score some goals against the black hawk

But it's got to be Markstrom against the Jets. 100% it has to be Marks. And yet, I don't think any of us to be surprised if Daryl does go to Markstrom tomorrow because it's Daryl. What does Wednesday mean if you lose Tuesday is probably how Daryl's thinking about this? I can't worry about Wednesday. That's the definition of looking past Chicago.

We need our best guys in tomorrow because we have to win tomorrow. That's how Daryl's going to view it, but I'm with you. I'd love to see if Lidar and if you play Markstrom, how about we jump out to a four-goal lead? in the first and just cruise through Tuesday. Can we just have that kind of scenario? It's a novel concept for a team you haven't beaten in regulation this year. You pull Markstrom when he has a shutout at the end of the first and you're up five,

nothing. Okay, come in there. It's all we're asking guys. Beat a team you haven't beat yet this year. Because that was even milling again last night. Flame should really try and flex here and grab them, get on this team and put them away. They played the night before and got shit pumped by the Oilers. They got their third string or four.

I also think, by the way, sorry, just to wrap that thought, if you're talking about changing things up and trying to give yourself the best chance to win Wednesday while also giving yourself a boost on Tuesday, couldn't you make the

case for Jacob Peltier to come in? Couldn't you make the case for Gilbert in instead of playing Stone three games and four nights after coming back from injury missing time? You absolutely can make the case. The problem being that the people that you're going to take out are Richie who had a one-and-one. Right? Who else you're taking out? Yeah, no one.

Right? You're not taking do-or out. And you could tell me Luch and Lewis, but look at the coach. He's not a chance. Not happening. Yeah, I don't think there's any changes. And there's no sense putting Peltier in for on a line where you can't have success. No, but that's with Codry and Dubay or Manjipani.

I know. If you're taking Lewis out of lineup, you're not. I see we're saying with Lewis, yeah. Hmm. How do you feel, though? I feel good. I feel good. Honest to God, like, you can be pissed off and get stuck trying to plan and read the tea leaves here where how could they show up and play flat?

And then who cares? Like, you can't, you can't criticize the team for winning. If you're in the playoffs and your goalie gives up one in his absolute stud in net and the rest of the team plays like, Like shit, but you win? Are people pissed off about what the hell's wrong with this team? Get that out of your heads, you? Flames fans, enjoy the next five games. And here it is with Edmonton on this heater.

They have had an incredible march. 5-4 over coyotes. They blew a huge lead in that one. 4-3 over the coyotes in overtime. Why are you talking about the oil? Because we just talked about style points. Yes. And they're winning and no one cares.

San Jose, 5-4 in overtime. Like, they're playing bad teams and edging them out. No one can't. Just get the wins. That's, that's exactly what we're talking about. And in Edmonton, they don't give a shit. Well, yeah, I wouldn't either. You had three bottom dwellers. You could have lost them all. You won them all by one goal. That's, and it's a luxury because you're, you know, you're in. Way in. You've got the ex. Contending for the division. But it's like, at this point, would you play, would you prefer a really nice, good game where you get screwed by the hockey gods and lose or a fucking ugly one, but you got two points?

You take the points because it's the only way your season stays alive. I say they set up the big tent outside for tomorrow night's game. Get the crowd there. Get everybody riled. Let's go. Get them all juiced up. Make some noise in that building for these guys. Because if they were flat, I wasn't at the game, but.

Players live, or not live, feed off the crowd's energy. You do have the opportunity to influence the game, especially early on when a team. Oh, I know. Get them wound up. And you know what? That was a nervous crowd. It was. Well, how could it not be?

It's fucking two. and they score in the first shot. Like you can talk about the fans. Like what did the, what did the flames do to engage the fans in the first period? They gave up two. The goalie got pulled and the first shot went ahead. You need the chance going before the warm up.

Let's make it. Make it happen. They'll get that if they get in. But give them something to cheer about it in the first 10 minutes. Oh, shut up. No wave. No fun over there. Because you look at the last two games.

You've got to earn my cheering. You're a typical Canadian. That's what you are. You're a hockey observer. You're not a hockey fan. I'm just saying. You go to the. of Sabres game, they've been out since November,

fans are screaming and yelling and excited. American ranks do that. Here, well, we're going to go and somebody at my house on Saturday said they went to a game once. You could hear people having a conversation, they said. That's because we're hockey observers. Well, and it was the game that played right into the scar tissue. That's the other reason. You can't ignore the body of work all year.

That's the scariest game they play. bad teams, deficit early, lackluster effort against the bottom dwell. And you're like, holy fuck, they're going to do it again. That's what last night felt like, didn't it? They're going to blow it again. Just like Philadelphia, just like Chicago twice, just like Columbus. It's another bottom dollar loss coming. That's what that game felt like for 50 minutes.

I think there was puckering for sure. Yeah. Because you go even to Vancouver. In the last two games, both of them wins. They have not led for any significant amount of time. when you look back at it, right? They were down 2-0-0 and down whatever it was last night, two-nothing.

They get the goal from Topholi, and they get 2-38 left or whatever it was for Stone last night. Yeah, you're right. It doesn't matter how. It's that you got it done. Just, you know, be better against Chicago. Be better. The other thing, too, is shifts after goals.

Oh, yeah, yeah. Feel free to pay attention, fellas. That's two games in a row where the next shift, you give a lead back or you give up the tie, so to speak. Yeah. It's like, oh. Careful. Like Nick Ritchie scores there.

It's 3-2. You scored three in a row. That should be curtains. All we need to do is be smart. Once that momentum started. And instead of the next shift, you're back to even terms. Like, oh.

And they did it against Vancouver. The shift after the goal. Two-on-one, back of the net. Wow, that's a good play. Yeah. How about don't allow the two-on-one? What the hell was Rasmus Anderson doing on that? Two-on-one.

Spinning? Yeah. Like a top. Yeah, he was interpretive dance. Round and round. He goes. Hey, Rasmus, Rasmus, do you think they're going to try to use each other on this two-on-one?

Or, like, what was your interpretation on this play? Yeah. Is that Chizmenko or Bolivia? Which one was that? There was a lot of goals the last two games for a lot of goals. Yeah, it's a lot of goals. It's also probably part of it. It scored a lot, though.

If you're going to give up a bunch, you've got to score a bunch. You're going to win. Who thought when Huberto missed that the penalty shot? That was the nail. And I thought he had it on the first. backhand, but he just tries to outweigh the goal, and he's at a real estate. You can get that up, and that's not easy. But he's got space and time when he goes to the backhand, and then it's like, he's trying

to go low. I'm not going to evaluate how he should have done it. I just thought this is the, this is our season in a nutshell. Yeah, because every fan will be watching. And it depends, I guess, how you feel about Hubert. You'd have been, he's not scoring this. Yeah. But my thing, yeah, it was more of, if he scores, he's right at all the wrong.

I was just going to say it was RET last week. There's seven games flush the first, you know, what is it? 75 games. Here's your chance to make amends. Everyone will forget the first 75 if you win out and make the playoffs. So did he win you back when he scored a tie it? A little bit. I thought it was important.

Yeah, but it was. Yes. A massive goal. It's a couple bank jobs too in the last week because Walker Dewar had the one off the end wall too. It's like, those are some bounces we didn't see the first four months. Hockey God's smiling finally. Yeah, I was thinking to you last night. Me?

Zedorov and Stone and Richie all scoring. We thought of a stetcher for a while too. Yeah, I know. But Stetcher you like, the other ones you despise. But that's the shit you're going to need if you do make the playoffs. Is that depth actually making a difference in the game? They haven't done it enough. And to be fair, like, no problem with Stone being your eight here.

That's where he was at the start of the season. Before you lost Valamacki and Mackey and Shillington didn't show up. Like, let's be honest about what he is. is. He's a phenomenal guy to bring in at league minimum as your eight or nine. I got no problems with Michael Stone doing that. How's Tanaev doing? Very quiet. He's right on the cusp, I think. Yeah, so cuspy that he doesn't have a locker. It's very cuspy. Yeah. Locker's still not there. That's close he is. That's still no locker. Well, and it's funny because it was kind of a, it doesn't sound too serious, was sort of the vibe at the beginning. And then it's just crickets and no stall.

That's a bad omen. Yeah. You know what? That's Stetcher. He's fucking winning me over. I like Stetcher. He played. playing his balls off. Last night, we gave him cheers of the game on Afterburner, and it's just like, look, he fucking cares a lot. He is playing his balls off. He looks like he's been a part of this team and this, you're right, that this matters to him as much or more of some of the guys.

He is the perfect example of what I'm talking about early in the year that you didn't see. You can watch guys playing. There's an emotion to him that you can, other guys, have to be feeding off of. There's an emotion. There's a care factory. You can sense it. You can visualize his emotion.

As a fan and as a, you know, follower of the team, there were how many nights where he was? They're faking their way through this game. There isn't pure emotion. They really don't care about winning. Stetcher, I watch him. Like, this guy was win. And it's, we talked about it last night.

Where has he been all year in fucking Phoenix? It's nice having a pool. It's nice to have a nice, you know, You got a little sun there, didn't you, Stets? You look really nice. But guess what's not nice? Knowing you're playing out the last 40 games of a meaningless season. And it was meaningless before they dropped the puck in Arizona this year in a lot of ways.

How jacked would he be, whether it was on the outside looking in or not, you're joining a playoff race. And he's a vested man. You don't question his try. And we have questioned a lot of guys try. And maybe it's not fair to do to everybody. Maybe you just play a different style or it's 82 games and you can't have it every night or what. whatever. But we sat here doing this thing.

A lot of times, you guys not give a shit? Where's the give a shit meter on this? And that guy has come in and you see it every night. But that, if you want to keep going, go ahead, but that's just it.

You can tell as a fan or as an observer, when guys care. He's the example of what you're trying to say is, why aren't the rest of your bastards doing this? This is the guy. He's going. You can't fake emotion. I can tell if you're playing with emotion.

Sure, there's games where you don't have it, but it can't be 75% of them. You don't get to decide to show up for 10 games a year and all I'll play with emotion. And there's just a few guys in this team that have brought it every night. Like I haven't worried about Tofoli, Backlin, Tanev all year.

And Markstrom, as much as it's been a shitty fucking year, it's almost like he's trying too hard. It's not lack of try. He's breaking sticks. He's pissed. It's not a lack of investment. It was a fucking shitty run. And whatever happened when he had his kid,

he's looked like a guy. Oh, he remember, He is an elite goalie. We wondered whether he could return to that at times this year. But the problem has been your highest paid guys. There's been a waiver of how invested they are. Like, oh, he looked really good. Oh, boy, it's like, what happened there?

And you know, like, Caudry's part of it. And I think sometimes when Codry's trying too hard, he's a shitty player. Because it's like you're doing laps of the ozone and you skate yourself back to the, you're trying to do it all. And, you know, I think there was a lot of very pointed questions about Uighur and Huberto coming. in and it is a new system, but it's clear that the forward and the coach have not been eye to eye right since essentially the first week of the season and how has that affect your investment

in the game. We've liked Weger a lot more of late, certainly. It's a nice run offensively and, you know, seeing him be the guy that you saw in Florida for a while, but their biggest players, it has not been a steady, you know what you're getting every night. The work ethics wavered pretty seriously. Manja Powney, you just keep coming, son. Just Keep coming. Keep working. 20s within reach. It's going to, you're, you're seeing it.

You can see it in him. He's getting a little bit more confidence back, and he's playing hard. And that shot, terrific shot. Keep coming, buddy. Just keep playing. He's around it, and I like him on that top line. I like him a skill. Keep playing.

Are we on? So as far as stature, just to put, are we, are we, are we, want him around next year? Well, they're over the cap next year, so they got some things to do. But, boy, you'd. But he's not going to. a big money guy. That's what I mean. He might be a guy that could be affordable. Yeah, if you wanted to move out a D of your third pair and add him for cheaper, that would make sense to me. I don't know how many people are knocking your doors down for the last year of Zadorov's deal.

He's certainly a guy that's fit and you love what he's brought you. You can complain about Zadora of all you want. He does play with emotions. He's got 10 goals. He's got the roller coaster of him. The cap thing's going to be a pain in the ass, but if you can have them, yes, you want him. He's not the only D that's high risk, high reward. in the league, right? No, but he's a guy that when you put him into top four, it's just a hard watch. I don't mind him at all on the third pair, and that's really where he's slotted to be here. If Shillington shows up or Tannav's not hurt, like he's your six if they're full. I have no problem with him as a five six. We don't have to worry about the cap. Stetcher's on our team.

Yeah. I want back. Bring back. And the other thing too is like, it is time to graduate Dustin Wolf and he will be your best goal in camp next year. Like the things we're hearing outside the organization and Ian about this guy, like I had some people that are in the profession of goaltending and teaching goaltending saying he's a top 10, 15 goalie on Earth right now. So you are going to theoretically move out some salary on a goalie, whether that's Vladar. He's a top 15 goalie on the planet?
