Hi, you guys.
Welcome to the Wednesday edition of Barnburn, Boomer and Warner from the Home Studios today.
We kind of called it last night.
It felt like it was going to be a home show this morning after our after burner at Richmond's Pub last night.
And it's a good thing, retro.
Seems to be.
Huh.
Weird.
We get criticized for going from home from not going, oh, you guys.
Oh, going from home again, going from home.
Um, if we weren't going from home, there'd be no show today.
Zero.
Nothing.
Capoots.
Bit of a technical problem going on at the, uh, at the studio.
I feel like bringing Jack in, but I think his hair is on fire right now.
So I, I don't know that we should do that.
We spoke so highly of Jack and his ability to roll with things last night and now, you're
right.
Freaking the F out.
Yeah, he's, uh, he's having a day.
It's a, it's a bad, bad hump day, a bad start to his Wednesday.
today.
So that's the downside.
That's the negative.
The positive,
we're Pinder free for at least a while, it seems.
Perceivable.
You know what I mean?
Yeah.
Oh, it just feels,
doesn't it feel like there's so much more space?
Who?
You don't need to like,
do you be jumping in to get ahead of them and stuff?
It could just kind of relax and have a conversation.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
But what about the Pinder report?
That's a good point.
I think Jack will have it figured by then.
Why better?
Well, the thing is, too, I mean, it's not like Pinder can't go from a phone or
sure they haven't thought of that, though.
See, that's thinking outside the box and that's not Pinder specially.
Yeah, you know, you put on some headphones and, you know, that sort of thing.

We'll have some bets, I'm sure, coming up in just a little bit.
We get into our opening statements for McLeod Law.
Give them a call, give Peter Klein a call, depending on what's going on in your life.
403, 254, 3864.
Visit them online, MacLeod-Dashlaw.com with Peter Klein.
He is the guy that he means business.
you've been you've got these disability insurance company kind of giving you the runaround maybe so where's those insurance of the benefits that I paid for I could use some of those right now being that does something to oh um Peter Klein you have Peter Klein okay well we'll we'll patch you right through that's the kind of stuff that happens no more of the runaround when you get Peter Klein on your side they're the best we were we were remarking last night watching the game not to name anything but watching the the broadcast the the flames game it's
There's an ad for some legal company out of somewhere.
It's like, that's, I can tell you right now without, that's, I don't want them on my side.
That's not my crew.
There's some real greasers there.
I'm not sure that that's who I relate to.
I relate to Calgary people, good, honest people who live here and who want to be here.
That's what it's all about.
Kind of the same with the flames.
You do guys that want to be here that live here, proud to be from?
here.
Yep.
Uh-oh.
Somebody's phone in me.
Are they?
Is it Richmond's?
It might be McLeod Law.
Oh, oh.
And I'm not even joking.
Do you,
because I can carry if you want.
No, I think it'll be okay.
All right.
Well, we talked about it last night, and I don't,
here's the thing.
We're now talking twice about a game
that was tough to talk about one time,
Just one single time was challenging enough as the flames shut out the Columbus Blue Jackets 3-0 on home ice.
I mean, the good thing.
Hey, they got another home ice win.
Home ice record continues to improve.
Dan Pledar shutout.
Big shutout for Dan.
Big save Dan with a win.
And I'm just kind of reading in the chat on the side here.
There are a lot of people who are chalking up.
a not super entertaining game to the fact that the emotions would have been high.
And for us to sit and watch, we have our emotions, but we were in a pub last night, right?
It's like, oh, this is very sad. This is moving in that.
And then they go to commercial.
And okay, well, whatever.
But for those players, they've been around it for a couple of days.
The Godreau family had been in town.
They've been in the room.
They've been going and doing things in the community.
They've been together.
It would be very challenging.
Now, I was thinking if you would have done anything, there was the, there was
the 9-11 game, right, that you were part of?
Can you just, and I know you've told the story, but it's all kind of a new world here on
YouTube, but going back to when you were in the Eastern Conference and we know what happened
in New York and everything with 9-11, to play a game when your mind is elsewhere, your
emotions and heart maybe elsewhere, what that's like.
Yeah, well, that one was really, I mean, I can't imagine last night.
I said it to guys that I was sitting with, like, how do you play?
Yeah.
how do you have animosity when real life has entered the building right so in New York after 9-11
I'm pretty sure it was the first major event that happened like sporting wise anyway after
mess had the helmet on right it was it was scary though it was a different type of
distraction is not even the right word you're not you're not saying it correctly but
To focus on a hockey game was damn near impossible.
I guess what I'm getting at.
You were thinking about it.
In that situation,
you were actually worried about
is there going to be more attacks?
And if so,
sure seems like Mass and Square Garden
might be a target.
Yeah,
right?
That sort of thing.
So it was a little bit different.
I just saw Monaghan last night and you're so happy
he's having a good season,
kind of found his game again.
Yeah.
But to play with that heavy a heart,
like my goodness.
Yeah.
And last night would have been even more so with all the memories flooding back.
But he's doing that on a daily basis.
Yeah.
Every.
And it's until you've done the circuit, every building you'll be going into,
he'll be asking questions about what it's like.
How's the emotions this and the carrying the legacy and carrying the memory and all of that sort of thing.
Well, in our world, in our world, sorry.
The flavor of the day, I mean, it's 24.
for our news cycle right like it's it's kind of and not to say that we have forgotten but that's a
short period of time from when it happened to now yeah and it's real fresh still for a lot of people
just sitting watching the family as a group you know meredith with the kids and the parents just
putting on such a brave face right it's i'm sure in some ways they enjoyed and they were happy to do it but on
on another side, I would just think you would just want to, please,
I don't want to be out in front of everybody.
It would just be so hard.
And I cannot, and you can't imagine what they've gone through.
So you hope for them, I think it was nice for the Flames fans, for all of that.
But you hope for them that this is the positive experience that you hoped it was going to be,
that this is part of actual healing, you know, healing, that they will get on a plane and fly home
and feel really good about how ever.
everything went and that even maybe even without knowing they've taken another step in in just coming
to grips with it's it's it's it will be an un you might not recognize it at the time but maybe
down the road you'll look back to go that was helpful even going back to when torts brought ghee
onto the ice it's like well maybe is it too soon or whatever that was probably really important
even though gey wouldn't have known it i'm out here and it's just something else it's a distraction it my brain is
diverted to something that I enjoy for a little while.
And they deserve that.
They deserve a lot of that, frankly.
So the Blue Jackets move on, flames move on,
and we now look ahead to Thursday.
It's St. Louis.
And again, I don't really know what there is to say from last night.
You get the disallowed goals.
You know, got to stay on, offside or whatever.
What was the other one?
They're both offside.
I'm trying to remember.
Um,
yep.
We needed more goals in the game, you know,
would have help maybe.
Well,
I don't know.
Flames got three.
What are you talking about?
That's true.
Yeah.
It's pretty good for them.
Is that a season high?
Is that,
uh,
yeah,
that's not bad.
Um,
almost nothing,
quite honestly,
almost nothing to take from the game.
I,
I kind of halfway joked last night,
uh,
for a guy like Jacob Pellche,
it gets into a season debut in that game where you're trying to
muster some energy and really get some things going.
there was not a lot going from one shift to the next as far as momentum or any of that.
So we'll see he's with the injury to Kirkland.
I'm sure he's going to be around.
He's going to get another opportunity.
But it was it was tough to get any kind of emotion going in that game.
I think probably in a lot of ways, both sides, certainly the Flames.
And then, you know, for Monahan and those guys, they're just happy to get this game done.
Let's play this and be.
Yeah, and be done with it.
And for the flames, they get a couple points.
they get to move on.
We'll get into the insider hotline now.
We move on.

Our buddy, our buddy, TSN analyst Jamie McClennan joins us.
Hey guys. Hello, James. What's going on? Not much, buddy. No, I see a Christmas tree in the background.
That's very nice.
Yeah, there's a little, like, it's kind of just a little guy.
It just kind of sits on the, uh, little churning down tree.
There you go.
Yeah.
So we'll, uh, and then retro in down in his dungeon.
Did you go get a new tree?
Because yours is too small noodles.
Come on.
No, I, I, I told my wife, I said, this is the last year of that one.
And it's going to go, it's going to find its way into the garbage.
I have to build that damn thing.
It's okay.
And the lights and all of that.
And it's, the box is all weathered.
Oh, yeah.
Like, I just, I don't know, Christmas, I don't, I'm not there.
And we, because I got a seven-year-old, this elf on the shelf is a problem now because you forget.
And then my, my 11-year-old who's coming 12, she still kind of believes.
So she's like, ah, finger and vanilla didn't move last night.
And I'm looking at my wife going, you forgot to move these things.
Spoiler alert, James.
We have people of all ages that watch, uh, the watch.
Oh, yeah.
But no, and you know what, he can be crafty that, that son of a gun.
Makes a mess and then you're left to clean it up.
Exactly.
Exactly.
So these elves, they move everywhere.
Yeah, we know what we could do probably as a group of guys, we could compare notes just to see what everybody else's elf has been up to.
Just so we maybe know what to look out for, you know.
Yeah, on the lookout for him getting into the, uh, spilled out, got into the bag of oranges and they were all over the floor.
Getting into the Oreo Coke.
Oh, my goodness.
What?
Is that Oreo Coke Zero?
Yes,
Oreo Coke Zero.
I saw it.
I was just that shopper's drug mart.
I'm like,
what is this?
So I bought it.
And you went for it?
I went for it.
It does taste like Coke with like an Oreo.
If you dip Oreo cookies in it.
So is this,
you've experienced that before?
Like that's a,
that's a dietary choice you've made in the past?
No, I just saw it.
I'm like, I'm going to try it.
Like, all right.
Like I,
I like,
I like, you have cold.
I like stuff like that.
I like healthy, what they call healthier soda if you're going to drink it.
But this was staring at me at shoppers.
I'm like, I'm going to try this thing.
And I don't know.
I don't say it disappoints.
It's a bit weird.
One and done.
Yeah, like I'll be, it'll be one and done.
Maybe I thought about like if you could,
wonder what it would it be like you threw a little vodka in there or something like that, you know?
It's just never too early to try.
Well, it is too early to try.
It's only well.
36 here and it is way too early for me to try.
You know what's not too early noodles?
What?
Me licking my chops waiting for those cheese toast and steak at Caesars.
Oh, baby.
So you, how are we going to win this bet here?
Like, what's going on?
Your team has to be in a playoff position.
It ain't happening.
You said the Predators were going to come back and make the playoffs.
And Rhett said no.
And it was a double order of cheese toast at Caesar Steakup.
Well, listen, they've got points in eight out of
11 games. We'll see, like, it's still, like, we're still in a, we're in a marathon, not a sprint.
And, you know, we had Barry Trots on. I chatted with him yesterday. And it was, you get great
perspective. He said, you know, when he did his research on, like, guys, like, he called him legacy
players coming over to your organization. He said, sometimes it takes them a while to settle into
their environment. He said he talked to one manager that it took one of his players a full year
before he felt comfortable in his new environment. And he said, but that guy ended up staying for
like five or six years. So he goes, you know, you got to look at this as an investment.
He goes, I have talked about maybe blowing it up. And he goes, that's that he goes, I got too
strong on those words. He goes, it would be a retool to give some of these young kids.
Because he goes, he said, we could have as many as nine players in the world.
Junior tournament.
So he goes, we got some good young players coming.
And but that being said, he goes, I expect them to be better.
He goes, we, you know, and I personally, I do.
I think they're better on paper.
We'll see.
They play the Leafs tonight.
So who knows?
Did Trotsy mentioned the cheese toast?
Did that come up in the conversation?
Yeah, because like next year.
Like next year, like these takes guys a little while and next year and world juniors
and all that.
But noodles, I'd get your wallet out because it's going to be double cheese toast.
It might have to be like, I'm not giving up yet.
That's my point.
It is,
it's lean,
very lean.
Like it last.
This is a team that won 18 games in a row last year.
That's a normal thing.
That happens a lot.
So you can go ahead and expect that.
Do we bet on that not happening again?
Because I'll take that bet as well.
That's not going to happen again.
And I don't think the Oilers are going to win whatever,
16 in a row.
But I do think these teams learn that when they're back is against the wall,
they've got to play a lot better.
I think Nashville is a better team than they show, but they have to show it.
So it is what it is.
I mean, two wins in their last 10 games.
They've played 25 of them.
It lost five in overtime.
Yeah.
Or shootout.
That's the thing.
He goes, that could go either way.
And that's the truth.
But you've got to get those points.
That's the biggest thing.
You've got to get those points.
So maybe tonight.
How hard are you pandering for a job in Nashville?
I don't want a job in Nashville.
You don't want a job in Nashville.
I don't want to job.
You know why?
I don't want a job in hockey because as long as I don't swear on air,
I can sleep with myself.
Like I can go to sleep at night.
When I finish a broadcast,
Ottawa senators lose to Anaheim the other night in a shootout,
4-3.
The minute that the producer goes,
and we're clear,
I forgot about the game.
I don't live with it.
I don't got to go over.
tape. I don't got to answer to an owner. I don't got to get on a quiet bus or get on a,
you know, the plane and have a coach come back and have to give me heck and all of that.
I'm done my job. So the minute you start working for a team, your hair goes gray.
I'm losing my hair, but it still has a decent color. You know, allegedly there has been a little
bit of shoe polish put in once or twice, but that's fair. But for the most part, like you're,
relaxed. It's like, okay,
it's like you guys. Do you want to work for the
flames or talk about? Like I, I'd
rather talk about it. Like, I just,
you know, that's the way I look at.
Conroy would never hire me.
He didn't like you.
He loves you, actually. You were a great
teammate with him. But I just,
I look at it and, you know,
those guys are under stress daily.
They got to manage up and they've got to manage down.
Well, speak about it because in Ottawa, you're
around it.
little bit what is the stress level there are they doing well enough is it's a new coach so it's a
little more laid back like they have to come around at some point i guess and are they uh you know what
i think they've got um to me they've got like a little bit of reprieve with the new new man like
the new manager the new coach the new owner but there is an urgency
Like, you got to make strides.
Like, I think the Ottawa senators should be pushing for a playoff spot this year.
That's it.
Like they got it.
And to me, out of the teams that are on the bubble that were on the bubble last year,
Detroit, Buffalo, Montreal, I think is not there, but they would be another team.
I do believe Ottawa is the best out of all of those.
But you got to show it.
And people say, well, you need top in talent.
Well, Tim Stutzel is on pace for, I think, 100 points this year.
Brady Kachuk is, you know, a very unique guy because, you know, you've got a guy who could score.
Especially nowadays.
Yeah, 30 to 40 goals and can fight and do everything.
You know, Drake Batherson makes $4.8 million and he's a 75 point guy, 70 to 75 point.
Like, they've got some pieces there.
Jake Sanderson's going to be a wonderful player, but he's 21.
like you know 22 like Josh Norris is 25 uh Shane Pinto's 22 like I look at it their
their group is young and immature but that's why they brought in Amadio cousins perron
traded for Janssen all of those guys if you ask me I don't think that they've been able to
raise their level and help this this team like depth scoring has been a problem
The top of the roster scores.
Like, Stozla's got 29 points in 23 games or whatever it is.
It's the bottom of the roster.
Nick Cousins has scored his second goal the other day.
Amadio's got three.
Noah Greger's got one.
Like, you know, David Perron hasn't scored.
Now, he's had some personal stuff.
To me, there just has to be more.
And honestly, the biggest thing that you could get for all of this is they've got one goalie
that's one stolen game from a goaltender.
And that was Allmark the other day, literally.
He stole the one in San Jose where they were outshot 39 to 11.
So they got to play better.
What about San Jose?
Like they're winning hockey games.
Well, they're better than, they're better than they were last year.
They've got capable goaltending.
I like Blackwood.
He might get traded.
I think he's a nice goaltender that teams would be looking for.
But I think they're deer like state.
And this Celebrini's a player.
Like he's a player.
He's not a project.
This guy's a player right now.
And I can't wait to see what he's going to be like two years from now.
But he's more, I laid eyes on Bardard the other night and I laid eyes on Salabrini.
I think Celebrini might be more rounded right now than Bedard.
I guess the threshold for Badard seems to be there to be as.
superstar. He just is kind of having some, I think some sophomore, you know, looks right now.
But Celebrini is like all over it. And they got this other kid, Will Smith, who's a really
nice player too. So I think you look at San Jose. Plus, I always tell people this too. And I don't
know whether you believe it or not. San Jose, Columbus, Chicago, they get everyone's backup.
they get everyone's like, hey, it's that.
That's a point night.
I'm going to, like, I think these teams are able to surprise teams because the team going in isn't looking at them, like, it's looking at them going, we're better than you.
We should beat you tonight.
And maybe there's a layer of respect that comes off of them.
And then these teams come out and they play hard.
And Columbus, I think, outside of last night, but I think is it six times or seven times they've scored six goals this year?
They've been really good.
They're one of the top, excuse me,
they're one of the top five on five teams in terms of goals scored.
And last night,
I think we were just kind of talking about for both teams,
you just kind of wipe it off of the ledger
because of the emotions and everything that was going into it.
Yeah, and I'm with you.
Just I feel like I need to start watching Celebrity more
because people are talking about him and like calling his numbers up here.
It's like because we know he was injured.
Playing center as a, whatever he is, 18.
He's got 15 points and 16 games, 19 minutes and 45 seconds on night.
So yeah, he's playing.
It's,
but then you,
to come back to it,
we'll move on because I don't want to be hammered on Ottawa necessarily.
But like you say,
if you layer the rosters top on top,
I'm going to take Ottawa.
I just,
there's so many of those guys there that I feel like are,
and now San Jose is where they're at,
but it's just.
Here's one thing too that I will say.
There's no margin for air with them.
So they go and get Nick Jen.
Jensen on D, who's a, he's actually been really good for them.
Artem Zub has been a real stable.
He's the Rett Warner, the stables, stay at home, can, you know, gritty, all of that.
He gets a concussion early and then he's got another injury now.
So all of a sudden, now you're asking Travis Hammondock to play against top pairing people
or play more minutes.
And God love them.
You guys know him, tries hard, good citizen, all of that.
there's nights where it's like, okay, now of a sudden,
Hamannock is is being miscast.
And then you're,
you're asking Jacob Bernard Docker to go into there and kind of come up like,
there's just no margin for air.
It's thin.
So their depth gets challenged.
So you hear Steve Steyos is in the market for a defenseman.
Well,
there's eight other teams that are in a market for a top four right shot defenseman.
So good luck with that unless you're willing to spend currency that.
And,
and, you know,
teams aren't at you calling you going hey i'll give you a life line i'll give you a real good defenseman
for a seventh rounder it'd be like i want that live roster player right now and you know that's
the interesting part right now i'm sure they're trying to do stuff but they're also asking in-house
let's play better let's like let's not give up high-quality chances and to be honest if you look
at their shots against like i think they're third in the league they don't give up a lot of shots
but they give up chances.
And that's where you need a goaltender.
You know, the goaltender masks everything.
You guys have seen it.
Dustin Wolf has been unbelievable in certain scenarios where it's like, okay,
that just saved that guy a trip to the video room because he burped one up into the slot or whatever.
Like that happens left and right.
They haven't gotten league average goaltending consistently.
They've gotten good performances and poor performances.
I think there's a lot of things I can.
and say that Ottawa needs to be better at, but I could probably go, I said that last year
and the year before too.
It's the big day for the Four Nations roster announcement.
I think there were some people chuckling yesterday as the, those jerks at TSN were releasing
the rosters because they don't, they're not a rights holder, so they're happy to throw
up to blow up the big announcement, the 430 announcement, everybody will know who's going to be
on the team.
I'm not looking for you to comment necessarily.
Kind of what it sounds like.
And from what we're hearing is there's going to be some surprises.
There's going to be some guys on that it'll make you kind of scratch your head.
And we were talking with Dregs on Friday.
And he said, don't be surprised if this is going to be more of a team,
more of a well-rounded.
They're not just going to take the best scorers and throw them on to four lines and then go and play.
There's some guys like Sam Bennett going to make this team.
There's some guys on the blue line.
Colton Pereko could be on this team.
where some other guys have been left off.
Is that the right approach?
Is it how much of it is due to maybe concerns in net
that you want to be able to play a better well-rounded game
to protect that net mining?
What are your thoughts?
You know, that's a great point.
I think if you are, because if you're making an all-star team,
some of those guys don't make it.
If you're making a team that you believe in a shortened tournament
that could gel, there's pairings there,
you know, Theodore and Petro Angelo,
you know, guys that have played together,
the chemistry, that type of stuff, I do believe.
I also do believe that the people involved.
Doug Armstrong watches Colton Pareko every night.
All of a sudden, Colton Pareco is in the mix.
John Cooper loves Anthony Sorrelli.
Well, Anthony Sorrelli's in the mix.
Brandon Hegel's having a great season.
All of a sudden, his name is floated by.
These guys who are involved, they're looking at guys that they know that they can trust, can work into a system.
So I do believe that hockey Canada is going with an approach is we're creating a team.
We're not creating an all-star game and an all-star team, which I don't know if that's the right approach.
You make a good point about the goaltending situation.
You know, do we need guys that block shots and, you know, lay it all on the line?
Or do we need a guy like Kail McCar who can just skate it out?
Or Evan Bouchard, who will make an 80-foot saucer pass through the middle.
and if it gets picked off, he'll look like he's out for a Sunday skate.
And if not, it's a great pass.
Like, obviously, they're going the other way because, you know,
and to be honest, I know there's people in Edmonton that felt that there were snubs.
Those players that were snubbed were not playing well enough.
That's the way I look at it today.
If you're looking at, you know, Zach Hyman had three goals and is injured.
I get that.
Bouchard hasn't played well enough.
And Stuart Skinner hasn't played consistent enough.
I thought he played, listen, the goal he allowed last night,
was a broken play.
But outside of that, like, it's a one-nothing game.
Like, he's actually played well in his last, we'll call it,
eight to ten games.
But. Yeah, you give up one a night.
You're going to win a lot of games in an oil or net.
Agreed.
Yeah.
So I guess my thing is, is we're going to question,
but we could also go, okay, the team that's laid out on paper today,
we can do an all-snub team, and that team would be a hell of a team, too.
Might be just as good.
It might be just as good.
It might beat the team that, you know, like it just depends, like on any given night.
Now, you could argue, I still am biased that I think Canada is putting the three best players on the ice in any given, you know, in this tournament, which would be McDavid, McKinnon and McCar.
And then everybody else falls in under, you know, another, yeah, no Matthews.
And I know Kach and the kid, Jack Hughes, guys like that.
They're all special players, but I think Canada has the three best,
and then everybody else falls in underneath that.
Certainly not the case in net,
but you need one guy to play solid and just be good in it.
And, you know, Bennington, that's the one thing.
If you're going legacy, these guys, two of them have won Stanley Cups,
and Bennington won a game seven on the road, you know,
to deliver a Stanley Cup.
And Aiden Hill came in in a pressure situation and played very well for Vegas
and they won the Stanley Cup.
So on the biggest stage, they've excelled.
Montembaugh has a history with hockey Canada.
World Championships played very well for them.
I think they look at it.
He's in a tough situation in Montreal.
And it might be looking towards the future
that we think this guy's a good goalie.
And we want to bring him into the mix
instead of bringing a Mark Andre Fleury-Lurie legacy guy into it.
That's probably what they're thinking.
But, you know, we could debate it all day.
Well, Rhett and I are real.
hungry to to debate. Yeah, we love diving in. You know what? And I don't want to be that guy.
Because if people, it's best on best, there are a lot of people that are very excited.
And I don't want to, yeah, I don't be the curmudgeon. It's like, definitely. Let's watch it.
And let's, let's hope it's great and all and all of that sort of thing. But it's not,
does not feel the same as an Olympics for me. But we'll watch it. Hey, right, we'll watch it.
Popcorn. I love popcorn. Yeah. So good. You guys, I don't know if I've told
you this, I'm not very interested in it. It's not best on best because you could argue that
four of the top 10 players on the planet are not playing in it in Kuturov, Drysaitle,
Camarin, you know, Vasilisselvsky. If you believe that's just Sarkin, like, I get it,
but what we, I'm not not going to watch it. I'm going to watch it. But, you know, the one thing is,
if you win, like, is that sitting on your mantle going, I'm when the Four Nations come,
But that's what they're trying to create something.
They've tried to do it in the past, and it doesn't work.
And I've argued with Pinder about it.
Why do we need it?
Why is the Stanley Cup not good enough?
Like, it's best on best.
That is the best on best.
That's the best two teams in the world.
Yes, I agree.
And the Stanley Cup finals, at that moment, those are the best two teams in the world.
Enjoy.
Yes.
Instead, we have to dismantle it.
I get the Olympic side, because the Olympics has.
been around forever.
And if Canada is in harpooning in the Olympics, I'm watching.
Yeah.
Right?
Like,
which is super exciting, to be honest.
I just,
is that one of those trial sports?
That's trial.
Harpooning,
yeah.
But the point being,
there's a history to the Olympics that goes back one hell of a long way.
The four nations is just a clear cash.
Like it, oh, there he is.
He'll argue the other side.
This is ridiculous.
You're telling me the two best talk teams in the world that played in the final last year.
You wouldn't have mopped on the floor by USA or team Canada.
Get out of here with your horrible takes guys.
How are you this morning?
I think Florida would probably.
Come on.
Get out of here.
Look at the bottom six.
You always line up over now.
It's not how it works.
Tinder.
It's not how it works.
You could still punch one of those guys in the face and see what happens.
I have a full team of face punches.
I can get my Tom Wilson's and everyone else on that other team.
Don't worry about it.
It's not best on best.
Four of the top 10 players on the planet are not playing in it.
Yeah, but everyone's doing anyway.
You're the best player on the planet, in my opinion.
It's going to be sitting in Bahamas watching.
We're missing the team that always finishes like fourth to six.
That's what we're missing here, Russia?
They're fourth to six.
I don't think.
When have they done well in these tournaments, Olympics?
Walk me through it.
I still think the best players of the bat.
You're using the word.
best on best it's not best on best for four hundreds it is yeah it's it's for the five best nations
on earth for hockey that's what it is and and until russia politically is out of the penalty box you can't do
anything about it i'd love to see russia there for the hockey but politically it's it's a peer
nightmare for the league i understand why it's that way i get it but my my thing is is it just when
they say it's best on best it's not because the guy who won the heart trophy will be drinking
beer in the bahamas okay so von zay copatara wins uh heart then it's not best on best of
Slovenia's not in?
Well, best players are best players.
That's what, like, my point is, is like, you can't just go, hey, you know what?
Like, who's the best artist on the planet right now?
Taylor Swift?
Like, she, but she's in the wrong country, so we're going to bring in Drake.
So until Germany's in this tournament, we can't say best on best because Leon's plays for Germany.
I'm just saying best on best, the Olympics, or is Germany in the Olympics?
They might qualify for a pool.
they might not. I don't know. Oh, Ryan, you're being a bucket tipper. I am, but you guys are also being
classic old man shakes fist at cloud. There's some room in the middle for the truth, I'm sure.
Okay, so let me ask you this. If you win, if you win this, what is it called the Four Nations
Copper? This is a Four Nation face of, yeah. Do you think these guys are like, I won, skate around
and put it on their mantle? What I do think is that you're starting to build a business model that
allows players and owners to make more money, monetizing. That's exciting. That's what gets my blood pumping
The business models that make money for the old dad's excited.
Because USA Canada should be the best robbery in hockey right now,
and we've been missing it for over a decade.
Nope.
I'm not missing it.
I'm not missing it.
That's the point.
It's because you haven't seen the Kachucks go out and punch Krasby in the face.
Well, of course you're not missing.
They're not going to in these silly, stupid short tournaments.
It's not the same.
You don't go play.
It's not a best to seven.
It's not NHL.
We love the NHL because it's a war of attrition for two months.
and the guys that are committed to have to battle through it and suck it up and compete.
And sometimes you can send a message.
You're playing a five-game tournament.
You don't get to punch someone in the face.
I agree.
Because you go in the box and you get scored on and you're eliminated.
I assure you this is not what the NHL wants is the finish line,
but they have to get out of the blocks.
Yeah.
And that's what this tournament is.
You make a compelling argument there.
They're trying to do something other than an All-Star game or whatever.
I get that.
And before you came on, all three of us,
admit it. We're watching.
We're not going to go, oh, I'm not watching it because it's this or this or this.
I'm watching.
I'm just not as invested in it because it just, it's, like I say, it's a starting point,
but it's like, all right, I do get it.
I'm more interested in the Olympics, but again, this, you know, the Olympics is next year.
So we, you know, this is what we have for right now.
I'm not turning it off.
I will watch every minute, every game, every, every,
you know, fist punch or whatever.
Can I ask you a question, Noodles, being an ex-player?
So you're still playing in this event's going on.
Are you disappointed?
You have to go or excited?
And I'm not joking.
There are guys that get invited to this shit and they don't want to go.
They want to go to the Bahamas for the 10-day break.
Like, come on.
I think there are guys that are going, yeah, I've got to do this thing.
You know what I mean?
I got to play in this thing or I want, you know, I think,
but there also been.
sold that this is the precursor for the Olympics.
That's what this is about.
Yeah.
So this is we're building.
I agree with Pinder on that.
Like this is a precursor.
This is kind of the appetizer.
It just, there are guys that I do wonder in the final game,
is there going to be a guy that like blocks a shot?
Like, you know, I'm trying to caution people because everybody wants this.
But keep in mind,
your best player is subjecting himself to an injury, potentially.
And, you know, in All-Star games, guys don't get injured.
They just skate around and half of them are hungover and whatever.
In this situation, there might be an injury to a top-tier player that changes the course of your,
your favorite organizations, you know, the way that they chart towards the playoffs
or into the playoffs.
That's what I'm concerned for.
and I've talked to a few managers.
I'm in the rinks all the time.
They're terrified of that.
It's a same risky run with Olympics, right?
We saw John Tavares will break his leg.
Or is it Stamcoast?
There were some big names that we lost.
Tavis.
Ferris got hurt at the start of.
Well, I wasn't that Eric Stahl blew his knee out
because air off or whatever hip checked him, like,
low bridge.
Like, I get it.
You run the risk.
We also run the risk of going to the bar
and stepping off a curb and snap.
Like,
I'd be careful in Chicago.
Got to be careful.
I know a guy who cut his hand in Chicago two days before the game and got sewn up in a kitchen.
And you know what?
Yeah, cut his whole every limb.
And almost the corado artery in his leg and all.
It was all hellbreaking loose.
Yeah, tough town.
Very stabby that Chicago.
It's very.
And the dive, when you do a table dive and you don't slide this way, you just land on top of things.
and I think shoot up.
That's what's appealing.
That's what that is.
That's allegedly what I remember from that dire night.
But at the end of the day, we will be talking about it.
I don't know, Pinder, where you are on the rosters or whatever.
Like, what do you make of Pereco?
I think if Poreko's not a blue, he's not on this team.
I think you kind of alluded to that.
And that doesn't mean it's a bad pick.
Like, he's a very good defensive defenseman with no offense right now.
And he kind of came into the league on the other side of that spectrum.
Yeah.
So he's going to be good at what they,
want him to do, which is be a shutdown third pair guy.
I just think if Doug,
if Doug Armstrong had Chris Tannav on his blue line,
he'd go there. If he had McKenzie Weiger
who could play both sides and give you some
offense, he'd be there. It just feels a little
biasy. Hagle's having a great year. I have no
problem with that. You know, point was
a lock, so the Cooper thing I don't really see.
Raleigh? I love Sirelli. He's
a perfect shutdown center. You look at his defensive
metrics. He's through the roof. Like if you want to shut
down fourth line, it's stone that guy,
Hagel? Sure. Absolutely.
Dean, have you looked at his defensive metrics?
not not recently no no and i get it you guys don't and that's fine you don't have to but i mean results
matter like no but i'm but you can't you can't so i like to see what the what the data is saying
about his defensive play that's why i look at it and i did no the point being is if you're going
to point a paraco and be like well i don't know oh sirelli the point is the star caliber players
there are but there's higher caliber star players that are not on the team i agree so whether
you're okay with Sorrelli and not okay with Perrako.
They're building a team.
Are you with that philosophy?
Are you okay with that philosophy?
Because remember, it was, well, Rob Zaminer's on the team.
Well, Andy Murray coaches him in Tampa Bay,
so he's taking him to the Olympics.
And it was a fart in church.
It fell so flat.
And they had, yeah, was it Brindamore or somebody else that went to you?
Just like, oh, that's not the best one available.
Well, it was Zaminer, yeah.
Zamner and another guy in Nagano is no good.
So I don't think it's a binary where you either build that team.
or the All-Star team.
Like, it's a sliding scale.
And I think even when we're talking about this world junior team,
like you left four kids out of the top nine picks at the last draft,
didn't even invite them to the trial camp.
Like, I think sometimes Hockey Canada does get a little too,
oh, this line has to do this and this line has to do that.
And we forget that, like, oh, an All-Star Centerman can actually check and play
on a third line if you ask him to.
He's got greater, he's better skater, better hands.
He's smarter than the guy you're going to replace him with,
i.e. Zamner.
But I don't think they've gone off the deep end with this roster.
you know, I always would like to air a little more on the side of skill.
Like the junior team lost to Chequilla and couldn't score last year at the tournament.
And they pass over for the top nine picks in the draft.
That seems like genius branding a lot more than this Four Nations roster.
They better, my thought process with this world junior team is they better win.
You have to.
Like that.
And maybe they went with a more veteran.
It sounds like they're going with more like older guys, like 19 year olds.
And I get that.
but you're right like this yakim chuck like i know ottawa's pissed like i get the the pulse of the statement
yeah but he's he's a nice player like physical big yeah like tia ginla like i okay this is me personally
and this this is i'm taking this more personally because i love jerome love the family all of that
but like you everything jerome's done for team canada that is a weird i would call them up and go lose
my number. Like I would literally go, do not ever ask me to help your organization out again.
If you're going to jam, don't even invite him to the camp.
That's the thing. It's not a snob that they didn't make the team. They weren't invited to
try out. Like at least let him get on the ice and make a decision who you like more. I think this is
idiotic. Well, that, you know what it is? Hockey Canada has this arrogance about them. They always have.
Yes. It's like, hey, we're smarter than everybody. Great. If you're smarter than everybody, you better damn
will win. That's the thing. Because they can look back if they win and go, we chose the right team.
No problem. And I want to give them the benefit of the doubt. There's a lot of smart hockey people
there. But I'm also looking at the big picture. You're looking at the future too as well.
And a camp, not even two, like here's the final team. Just to the training camp, they're leaving
off the future of that world junior team. And to me, if one of these guys next year plays in the
NHL and they
get the option to go.
They're going to say to hell with you.
That's the way I would look at it.
And I don't know where Teesh Oginla is in his
progression.
I think he's smart enough and a good enough player
to fit in there and to not get him
to camp after what his dad
has done for Canada alone.
I don't know. Again,
I'm biased.
He's done enough on his own two feet, let alone
what?
his old man did for you.
That should be a tie break, but he's there on his own merit to begin with.
It's silly.
I understand that.
It's just, I guess that's just the emotional side of me going,
I was just blown away when I didn't see Tija Ghinla there.
Just on so many different levels.
Like even if you say to Jerome, like, you know what,
we don't know if your son will make the team,
but we're going to put him there because we think he's good enough.
He might be a future there, but like give him the experience.
If you're talking about, you know, next year,
a lot of these guys would probably be on that team.
I just, I was disappointed in it.
Again, I want to give Hockey Canada the benefit of the doubt,
but I hope they know what they're doing because.
And they've done this before.
1990, 1996 or 98 in Nagano,
totally galaxy brand themselves trying to build a team
rather than taking the best hockey players available.
And they took an older, you know, name brand,
but not the best players team in 2006
and got walloped and finished, what,
seventh in Italy? Like, that's embarrassing.
Then last year at the World Juniors again, so
I think Ocky Canada, like, they probably have philosophies there, but you got
to revisit them if they don't work. Like, if this team
loses at the World Juniors, that's two years in a row, you've left
really talented players at home. Yeah, that's fair.
That's fair. Ryan, did you want to roll out the red
carpet for our buddy, Jamie?
For next month. Okay, so here's the thing.
Ottawa plays on the 19th of December here
in Calgary. That is there one visit
of the year. We usually chat with you on
Wednesdays, that's the 18th.
I don't know your travel plans, but Boom, Rhett, myself, and the Barney's, all are listening.
We're going to chip together the cost cancellation or rebooking fees because we have a
drinky, drinky show on the 20th, the Friday that is an annual event that is our most highly
acclaimed and critically acclaimed show in our show's history of coming up on two and a half years.
I think you've been a guest.
So you want me to be on the show on the Friday the 20th.
I don't know what the send schedule is.
I don't want you on the show.
I want you in the studio.
We need to hear.
So what time is that at?
We will.
Here's the problem is I would do it.
I got to do overdrive that day, remote.
See, that's a problem.
You can do it from our studio.
Yes.
I can't be Bernie Lomax.
Yes, you can.
You guys pull on a string and my arm goes out.
Hey, how are you doing?
Now, you guys are enjoying yourselves.
Enjoying is an understatement.
So the premise is 90 minutes, 10 drinks.
I can come on, but I can't do the festives.
Like, I can't, you know.
Wear an official's jersey.
Because I have a day job.
You can officiate.
I'll give you my glasses.
He'll never know.
Exactly.
But we will discuss, but I would absolutely and gladly come on the show.
I just, I would have to figure out, like, I would have to come and meet you after.
That's basically, I'll be on the show.
After for puddles.
I can't.
No, you know, listen.
No, it is what you need it to be.
If you need to just kind of let off the gas a little bit, then that's...
Let's discuss.
Let's work through this.
We'll discuss.
We're loading up with coves.
We're going to roll out the red card.
We'll discuss off air and then we'll come up with a solution on.
That's great.
When are the Sends done?
Do they have one more out west before they go home before Christmas?
No, I'm in Evanston on the 22nd, the Sunday.
I do that day.
What's the time?
So they...
You're in Ottawa.
I'm sorry, they're in Vancouver on the 21st.
That's not our game.
That's not our property.
I'm going to Edmonton.
I was supposed to go to Edmonton on the 20th.
So I figure that out.
The 21st is a good day too, though.
We'll over you up there.
No problem.
And, of course, cheese toast, right?
Yeah.
I mean, I don't know they're going to be...
You come on the show?
Nashville's not going to be in a playoff spot in two weeks.
You're not going to be eliminated either, right, noodles?
Exactly.
They're still a,
they're still Mary Swanson.
One in a million.
There's still a chance.
Unbelievable.
I like in spin and he's like,
points in eight of their last 10.
You're like,
there's two wins in there.
Yeah,
but there's five overtime losses.
That's the math.
Yeah.
Five points.
So it's,
they're still coming.
Flames see them next week.
I'm curious.
All right.
I got to go.
Get out of here.
You're trying to get drunk on air.
I can't do that.
Yeah.
I'm a professional.
Didn't you guys know that?
That's the only reason people watch us.
I was drunk on air last night.
Yeah, he did a good job of that.
Just funneling coronas.
They were evaporating on site.
Nothing wrong with that.
Like last night was emotion.
We didn't even talk about it.
I mean, it was, you know, it's just heart.
My heart like hurt, you know, it just was so tough.
But, you know, it's, it's, I thought the flames did a great job.
That really did.
And, you know, the fans were very gracious and, you know,
Ghee and everybody like this.
It just was,
And for the team to win and then to make him for a star and Johnny first star,
it was just, oh, I was all cried out, put it that way.
I was watching it last night and I was choked up.
Thanks, Bernie.
I'll talk to you next week.
We'll see you later.
Chatlain.
Did he drop a weekend of Bernie's reference?
Is that what I said, I can't be Bernie Lomax.
I didn't get the last name, but now I get it.
Okay.
Yeah, with the, so basically saying he'd be a corpse, yeah.
And you know what?
Because I think about Jack,
can we have these references.
I know for sure he's not going to know Bernie Lomax.
No.
Would he even know, would you even know a weekend at Bernys?
I think there was like a hip-hop dance, do the Bernie where the people are like
Oh,
yeah.
And that might be like a pop culture tag for him.
And then and then the subtle Mary Swanson in there at the end with the one in a million
talk.
It's he's so good at it.
It's unbelievable.
He's one of these.
He's first ballot hall of famer when it comes to name drops.
Fantastic.
That is the insubes.
the insider hotline.

Does Jack have a microphone in front of his face?
Does it work?
I think he's got the old earbuds with the microphone.
What's the situation?
I don't know if you can hear me, and I'm probably going to echo, but you would hate this.
We can hear you, but we can tell you're not on a, on a, I'm right beside.
Ryan.
Yeah.
He's in the boom chair there.
What's with the camera?
Why does it look?
Dark.
Yeah.
Do you have all the lights on?
You know what?
We have a camera right now?
I'm not starting to picking that.
Yeah, yeah.
We're running off a laptop in front of me, not the big tower.
I see.
Yeah, yeah.
Power issues.
Does Jack have any kind of a...
He'll troubleshoot today.
I know how he rolls.
But has he kind of sussed out what the issue?
might have how it could have arrived our updates uh we did some power cycles uh didn't go full
cursing and swearing like jeff would have done but everything else has probably been diagnosed
till he'll tinker around this afternoon get it right i'm sure yeah yeah yeah he's very leery about
rj poking around in here yesterday oh really well it worked well last night
the rogy shows up turns off the camera till it didn't till it didn't friggin well how come the
stream ended like it did well you know
don't plug in the laptop.
I was after he knocked out the camera plug midway through the show.
Yeah.
Quite a session he had.
It was quite a night.
Yeah.
Yeah, it was quite a night.
You were on fire last night.
You were dropping some Disney adult references.
I couldn't believe that that show should be taken down.
You're going to get canceled.
Okay.
Way to go, Dean.
Thanks.
Congratulations.
Paid leave?
Yeah.
Well, I don't know if it's paid leave.
Just leave.
Yeah.
Either way.
Get some gone.
Either way.
Well, I mean, hey, Pinda Report, right?
Yep.
Yeah, rock and roll.
No, I want to do that.
Is Jack able to do everything with the show?
Is he got everything?
I think he's giving me thumbs up, whatever the hell that means.
Okay.
Because I want to, we kind of threw it out on the show yesterday.
It's the, with Orange Origin brewing.
Our buddies at origin.
It's the holiday burner bundle.
You're going to get a four-pack of the Barnburner blonde.
You're going to get a four-pack of our brand new origin,
after burner pale ale.
Delicious.
And then you get on there, they give you some options.
Would you look, a t-shirt or a hat?
They have different types of shirts.
There you see it.
50 bucks.
I don't know what you, but when you get to the holiday season,
I don't know what to get this person.
I don't know what to, I just, I, but I want it done.
I want to be a good gift, of course.
But I want to be able to just strike this off and know that I've got a good gift
under the tree for this person.
One other thing with a gift like this, Dean,
is that that person might let you enjoy some of it.
There might be some sharing.
Yeah, to come back your way.
They give each other.
That's right.
Love that.
50 bucks.
Red probably spends more than that on his America T-shirts.
You never mind all the free beer that comes with it.
That's unreal.
Well, he doesn't spend it on his tab.
Anyway, after burner pale ale,
barn burner blonde, a four pack of each.
And then a t-shirt or hat of your choice.
And they have all them.
That's just kind of, we just took a quick shot there.
Originbrewing.ca is the website to go and check that out.
And there it is.
Right there.
The brand new ones.
Fine, Dean, I will.
Take a look.
Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm.
We're pretty proud of it.
Damn, right.
People are, they're catching wind of this last night at Richmond's.
They're like, I know you guys got the barmeard of blonde here.
I'm having one.
When's that?
When's the afterburner pale ale on?
There you go.
Very excited already.
Well, I'll tell you what.
Our buddy,
Man Deep I saw on social media yesterday.
It looked,
BK Beaufort Liquor out on the west edge of the city,
out by COP.
And Spar, baby.
I'm not sure if there's an origin beer that he doesn't have.
Got them all.
He had the full library.
He celebrates the entire catalog of origin brewing.
Wow.
Yeah, he does.
Yeah, he really does.
And then of course,
how you go about it.
Of course, they have the tap room and the brewery
out in Strathmore, 60 Spruce Park Drive,
and the new location in Calgary, 943, 28th Street, Northeast.
Go to originbrewing.com.ca.
To find the deal.
You can also order beer and merch on its own,
but that is the new bundle until we're sold out.
but then you can go there and pick up different hours,
go to the website for the hours at each location.
They're open a little bit more in Strathmore.
Then they are here,
it's kind of a,
they're getting into it.
They're starting to get things going.
But I'll tell you what,
they are pumping out beers left, right and center.
They are busy right now.
I would think so.
I would think it's the most wonderful time.
Thursday and Saturday.
Those drinking days,
that's like you want to,
by the brewery there.
I wouldn't even mind,
a burger bundle.
That shows up
another tree.
Someone's shopping for boom.
There you go.
There you go.
There you go.
Um,
hmm.
What to be a bike bomb if we found out
who was or wasn't on Team Sweden?
There was a Calgary flame.
Sure.
Pike bomb.
It's a Pike bomb.
Pike bomb, baby.
Pike bomb.
Pike bomb.
Pike bomb.
Pike bomb.
Pipe bomb.
It's a pike bomb.
Get ready for a big pike bomb.
Rasp Sanderson has been reported as making the Trey Kroners,
the Swedish team for the four nations per expressinin.
Mekalatinin has got that report.
I don't know if it's the real of the fake mecalatinin.
You've got to be careful.
Yeah.
Is that the verified mechalatinin?
I do see a checkmark.
So I'm hopeful that.
Elon's got the right.
Mika Latinen.
And deservedly so.
Now this is just off the top of my head.
I know there's, you know,
very talented hockey players go from Sweden,
but,
and we're a bit biased.
We see him on a regular,
but I mean,
guys having a hell of a year.
He's a hell of a year.
He's a hell of a year.
You know,
like it's night and day.
And I get it.
They were probably trying to do the Haniff and run the power play
because you know you're probably going to trade him.
And they also had some other guys that were getting showcased.
And you bring in Miramatov.
Let's see what he looks like.
Andrews is,
I'm right here, guys.
Right here.
Can I get some power play time?
Yeah.
Get a load of me.
I did that for my whole career.
No one listened.
And that does tie into the Pinder report as well, which you will get to.
But someone did move right next to Rhett in the all-time Calgary Flames stats last night.
Wow.
What a day for them.
Check the game notes and see if it's in there.
Yeah.
Well, yeah.
Well, and luckily for Rasmus, he doesn't have to feel that sting that Red felt being left off the Olympic team.
There's nothing.
painful than a snub yeah i was ready and i could have fit it on that 98 squad for sure
they needed a glue guy here it was yeah you're not gonna i was ready you already been to japan i knew japan
yeah i knew the language love sushi yeah i could get around no problem yeah not a call
weird but lany did call you for the world champion did call me from team canada for the world championships
and then I flipped him the bird.
As you do to Lanny.
That's the treatment that Lanny's used to getting.
I think Rett felt like he was 13th in line
and rather than ask him when he could have been a top six
that he said if he'd called me two months ago,
maybe I'd feel differently.
If you'd indicated any interest at all in the past
as prior to the other 18 guys saying no,
you might have had a chance at me, Lanny.
But my pride got in the way, and I love Australia.
Down and da.
It's dry, mate.
Get some V-Bs.
I was called.
Pirate Bay.
Oh, fine, yes.
Go and see the Opera House, Mawn.
Everything on the IRA in Melbourne, mate.
Let's do the Pender Report.
It's a presentation of our good buddies over at Village Honda.
VillageHonda.com, Northwest Auto Mall.
We've been talking a lot about the ridge line, but you know what?
It's not like that's the only all-wheel drive vehicle you have,
because Calgary is an all-wheel drive city, specifically from about, you know, October, well into spring.
Yeah.
The ridgeline, I'm biased.
I think it's great.
They've got the passport.
They've got the CRV.
They've got the pilot.
Whatever the size of your family, your budget, new, pre-owned, they're going to find a tremendous vehicle for you because if you're out there right now,
without winter tires, without all-wheel drive,
you don't know what you're missing.
You don't break a sweat with Calgary winters
when you've got an all-wheel drive Honda
underneath you and, you know, that sort of thing.
You'll find one with Village Honda,
located in Northwest Automol.
It's a Pindrault.
It's a Pindrault.
Fellas, it was an emotional night at the Scotia Bac Saddleum,
and for all the incredible memories we will have
for what happened off-ice and powerful moments.
The game certainly lacked almost any of those.
But the final minute was something to see and here.
Let's go back to the dome last night.
Hockey chin in Calgary with under a minute to go on the third.
That's how you do it right there.
The fans remembering a guy that will go down is one of the greatest flames of all time.
It's family in attendance.
We saw pregame and post, all kinds of, I suppose, what, just involvement.
There it is, the two teams.
The only two teams, Johnny ever wore the jersey four.
in the National Hockey League.
His parents out for puck drop,
an incredibly emotional.
Sean Monaghan,
tearful, Rasmus Anderson,
post game with Michael Backland and
Gie Goddrae, emotional.
I don't know how they played, Rhett.
I know you guys alluded to it off the top.
It's different than a national health crisis
or a terrorist scare,
but to go through those emotions
and then just say, oh, yeah, I'm going to work now.
I'm just going to punch this card here.
I know you.
Weird game.
Yeah, without criticism, the game was a little.
It was brutal.
Felt a little flat.
And I think that this is the major cause of that.
Well, you look at that photo.
I mean, that's a beautiful thing.
It is.
I like to tell they got the fans to get the flashlights out too.
That was kind of cool.
We saw an empty seat in the house.
Everybody there.
That's, I mean, that's just beautiful stuff right there.
Love that.
The owner's suite, of course, had the Godreau family,
lots of friends and family,
and we got to see Craig Connery holding little Johnny Jr.
This is heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time.
I think it's beautiful.
I like not to get overly dramatic.
I just,
and I know I think the guys on Flames Nation,
they had in one shot they had the pick of him handing Johnny
that Flames jersey,
the day that they signed him before he got on the private plane to come to Calgary.
Yeah.
Side by side with that.
And Connie,
Connie's looking the same.
And it's like there's,
with,
with the young goodro boy,
I,
it's,
it's beautiful.
It kills the inside.
It's gutting.
Um,
but that is,
it's,
you know what it is?
And not,
not that you're surprised.
I'm proud of the city,
the fan base,
the fans and the team.
None of,
none of the emotion that you saw was contrived.
No.
Every,
tear was sincere. Every, every, every, you know, as my voice, it was sincere. And I think that the
family truly knows and can leave, you know, to get on a plane, they'll go home knowing
sincerely what Johnny meant to this, this city and this fan base. Yeah, we saw his,
uh, wife chatting with Ryan Leslie Pree talking about how, you know, it felt like home again and
all these friends. We saw a post game, Guy in the locker room. Uh, congratulations.
congratulating the fellas, even had a jab about scoring three goals.
How rare that is for the team?
But if this somehow, some way, helps the healing process for the family
and the tragedy they've had to go through, all the better.
Never mind this fan base.
And kudos to the cavalry flying.
The first class job all the way around right from the moment that the memorial started gathering,
I guess what, sticks, skittles, gatorades on the west entrance to the saddle, though.
Yeah, loved it.
Okay.
Let's move to more hockey-ish things.
Mike Gold had this little
gem you dug up from last night
as Kevin Ball is now
tied Ret Warner and career power play goals
at the flames like just
knocking names down the list
Ew!
Congratulations, Kevin. That's a big day
for you.
Go wrecking ball next to
Rhett. Brose.
Sit in the pilot seat at
one power play goal each.
Had to avoid baller.
Do we have the clip? Because I'm sure he was
asked about it.
I feel like they had to,
emotional night.
Yeah.
Media room.
There was so much attention on it.
The home road splits are becoming stark, fellas.
Let's take a little look see here.
There's Calvary's home record 10-3-0.
Look at the West.
Vegas has 10 wins.
Same record at home.
Minnesota, 7-3-1,
not as impressive as the flame.
Still very good.
Winnipeg 9 and 2.
That's really good.
Dallas Best in the West, 10, and 2.
Flames are right there.
Their home record is the reason that this club
is still in a playoff spot as they
hold the first wildcard, as you can see
in that photo. I looked at
the numbers. There are plus 10 on home ice
and goal differential.
There are, I believe, minus
15, minus 17, something like that
on the road.
And we heard McKenzie Weger talk about it at the end
of that last homestand. There's an identity, and part
of that is making the saddle on a tough place to play.
They haven't figured out a way to take that
on the road yet since game three of the season
when they won 4-1 in Edmonton, one
road victory since then. That's it.
So one road win in their last 11 road games.
At home, one of the best teams in the NHL.
It's really weird.
Power plays clicking at 5% higher, penalty kill, 14% better.
They're scoring way more per game, allowing almost half as much.
Another great goaltending performance.
Maybe this is just a weird start of 26 games.
Maybe there's something to this home road split because it's stark.
It's hard to come up with any kind of a rationale as to why.
remember when Vegas in their first year,
their home record was so great. Well,
Vegas is a new town on the circuit
and the crowds are bananas
and that whole thing.
To your point,
it is so stark. It's hard to know why.
Yeah. It's a touch
odd to be sure. Okay, we'll move
to the wild card stand. It's a regular
one. See where everyone's at.
Emmonson Oilers are below the county flame still after
a one-nothing loss last night to Vegas. That's odd.
Colorado and Emmington feel ominous there, don't they?
It's like, Plas are nice, but look at the rearview mirror.
Yeah, the rear view of mirror is not good, and I don't know who you're taking off the top.
We mentioned L.A. yesterday.
They're in Winnipeg.
They're really spoiling themselves.
Maybe, yeah.
I don't know that you're better than Winnipeg, though.
They've got a six-point edge on you.
Still 18 and 8, even with a...
It is true.
Yeah, what are they, they've lost 7 of 10, and they're still...
Yeah, I come up with a different name.
And fellas, feel free.
Oh, I'm with you, Rhett.
And I don't know.
I mean, St. Louis is coming in.
They've won, I think, three in a row since
new coach.
Jim Montgomery's coming in.
Or three of four.
They've, yeah, the mood has changed.
3.1.
That's what it is.
3.01 since they beat the Rangers in New York.
That will be a charged up group coming in.
That's a team that suddenly isn't out of reach of the
Calgary Flames.
I expect and really hope there's a higher pace and that St.
Louis maybe ups the ATM.
that came last night. We can't have another one of those.
Sorry, Jack, can you just throw that back up there again?
Do we have any thoughts on Vancouver right now?
They're treading water nicely.
They went 4-1-1-1 on a six-game roadie.
They're doing it without T.J. Miller.
Demko still hasn't returned. We keep hearing. He's close.
Close doesn't mean he's in that.
And Heronica had surgery.
Yeah.
He saw him back in Florida.
Lower body surgery, upper-body issue that didn't require surgery.
he's a big piece because he played next to Quinn Hughes all year last year.
I wonder about them just a little bit.
They're doing this while they're hurt, Dean.
That's why I'm not worried about them.
Like you are going to get Demko back.
You are going to get Heronic back.
I think you're going to get J.T. Miller back.
And there are only four points out of five points out of the division lead.
Like I give him credit.
Yeah, one of the few games played as well.
So I would be very worried about Vancouver.
Yeah.
You could say you could worry because,
they've got those injuries and those guys out,
but I'm actually worried the other way.
What happens if those guys come back?
How good are they going to be then?
And I would expect them all to come back.
It doesn't sound like the JT. Miller one's ominous,
although who knows what's being sold to us,
but it sounds like he just needs a breather,
a mental reset.
And I like Rett's preseason prediction,
the oiler season ending at the hands of the Canucks.
That was a great series.
Canucks had two chances to wrap that thing up.
They didn't have Brock Besser.
They did it all without Demco.
I mean, I think that's a dangerous club.
if and when they get healthy.
Yeah, yeah.
That Dempca one's weird, right?
Yeah, and then let's say he's healthy.
What does he look like?
And how healthy for how long?
Right.
Yeah.
Okay.
I want to say big hello to Tim Hunter.
Timmy.
He did,
he made history on this day in 1982.
How about that?
First Calgary native to score for the Calgary Flames.
Love to see it.
Oh boy, Tim.
Big tough.
My goodness.
Yeah, there's some other things he did for the flames too.
like punch faces.
Aside from his goal scoring prowess.
Right.
He's in a lot of team records.
This guy would probably,
if he stayed in Calgary,
have most of the record books to himself.
Unfortunately, there's point 600.
Boy, that happened quick.
600.
Yeah.
Chuck already.
Yeesh.
Really good player.
Yeah.
For a guy that doesn't skate very well.
And he doesn't,
but he sees it so well.
Yeah.
Yeah.
We'll just keep moving.
If you watched the Vegas Edmonton game last night and didn't fall asleep,
you did witness some of history.
It's the fifth ever regular season game to have just one goal and zero combined penalties.
It did happen recently back on Feb 20th, 1944.
Yeah, that was the zero-zero tie, right?
Yeah, yeah.
Remember that post game?
We were just dying for content.
Yeah, gosh, guys, I don't know what we're going to do for the post game.
Stream was good.
I remember that.
We didn't have any tech issues.
Yeah, no.
We didn't have some dummy kick in the camera.
Yeah, the transistor worked well.
So we were fine on that one.
Okay, tonight's games, look at the slate.
What do we, what do we, what do we, what do we, what do we, what do we, what do we got?
Okay, Nationals in Toronto.
There we go.
We'll revisit that in the bet 365 who ages of the day.
Boston, Chicago, good original six matchup there.
Bruins would look quite a bit better with Joe Sacco, the interim coach, taking over.
Bidadard, a lot of criticism about a slow start.
He's been better of late.
Vegas in and on.
This is an interesting one.
Ducks have been a trickier out.
then you'd think. Lucas Dostel's posting
some of the best goaltending numbers in the NHL
and Vegas did play last night.
And then Dallas and LA,
bad news for Dallas yesterday is Tyler Sagan's going to go under the knife.
He's out for I believe four to six weeks.
Oh, shoulder?
Shoulda?
I believe.
These guys that complain about shoulders.
Soft.
Just get the surgery and stop whining.
Geez. Every day.
Go to Germany like everyone else is doing.
That's right.
Get the surgery.
literally have a family member who just went to Germany.
Oh, yeah, they've been doing this surgery for 30 years.
Can't do it in Canada.
No.
Yeah.
What?
What?
Highly controversial.
Very, yes.
No, no, they do like 50 a day, this one guy.
He's not a mission.
Yeah, great success.
Does he hide?
He's Googling?
Like, what the hell is this?
Where?
Oh, I never seen that part of the.
Okay.
World Juniors.
So we saw the snubs.
Top 10 players.
that didn't get invited
for the top nine picks in the last year's draft.
McGillah, we saw,
we saw a bunch of others.
Rydos made a good point.
Sorry for interrupting you, Ryan,
but he did make a good point about the old man
has done one or two things,
and I know it's not supposed to be political,
but you've got to think that that kid's probably good enough
on his own and his old man.
And not getting a spot,
getting an invite.
Exactly.
Yeah, I agree.
I agree.
And here's the thing, like it's a 19-year-old's
tournament. We know that it's the U-20s. These are all 18-yearles we're talking about, but these are
exemplary talents. And so if you want to go with an older roster, cool, invite some young kids
see who they fare against the older guys. You might change your mind. What's, what's the harm in
again land of camp? Who's coaching this? Fishing. Well, who's picking this team as one. I'm worried
about. Here's a reminder, though, like, it is a U-20 tournament. What about if we could, the candidate
could just, any teams want to loan these guys out? Because there's some players here. You want to
throw Bernard
Celebrini on this
roster.
They're still eligible.
Jeez.
That'd be a nice
one to punch
in the juniors,
Red.
Where's Sard?
Brini from?
Vancouver,
North Van.
Oh,
believe.
I thought he was
American just because
he grew up.
His dad,
I believe, is a
sports science guy
working for the
Gold State Warriors.
So he grew up
in the Bay Area a bit.
So was he a duel?
He went to college.
He'd be a duly,
but he's Canadian,
yeah.
He plays for Canada.
Do.
Dill.
I think I got
one more four nation rosters are going to be revealed they kind of been blown up as you guys
talked about um fun to not be right soldiers and use your sources rather than pretend you don't know
the teams uh there are your odds on bet three six five Canada favored but not even money
so that looks like we got a competitive tournament in finland clearly the long shot there's guys
that i think they only have seven defensemen in the n hl so they're all on that team what are
the other countries getting for uh very very big numbers dean in fact some have said uh impossible
that's the top four that's the top four
four. I just wanted. Yeah,
good long shots out there. It does
show the name of the tournament at the top, if you want to
give that a read for us.
Just weird that they wouldn't
put odds on all the teams taking place. Maybe
we're in the semifinals. There is a qualification.
The teams haven't been announced yet, Dean.
So those teams, how do you give odds when you don't
know that's part of the announcement? They're just buying.
They're vying for the, yeah, exactly.
Okay, NFL, let's do this. We got
playoff pitcher. Ret, look at this. Bill's
trying to chase down. Stinking Kansas
Chiefs for that one seat that's a buy
to the divisional slash wildcard round,
whatever it is. And then the
matchups we'd have, Jack, how do we feel?
I see the Steelers
would be facing.
The Ravens?
Here, there's the Ravens.
A divisional battle.
Come on.
Dean, your team not in.
In the NFC apologies,
Rhett, we love your team.
And my squad that
still kind of not really sure if I like.
I love a matchup with Houston. They've looked
lost at sea the last month.
You have to go on the road.
All right.
No real threat to get in that's out in the
AFC, NFC, very different.
NFC West still totally up for grabs,
not to mention a hard charging bucks
team that is trying to reel in Atlanta.
Other NFL stuff,
here's the other end.
I mean, if you're not in that list, you better be on this list.
This is your odds at the first overall pick.
Jacksonville's that bad again, eh?
Trevor Lawrence is going to fix all that, I thought.
Giants might still give them a run here.
Three two win clubs, a huge swack of teams at three wins,
including both, well, the other New York team, I should say,
two and AFC North opponents of Rich Jacks as well.
And New Orleans kind of hanging around for all those teams have a chance.
I mean, I would think from eight to one,
all have a chance at that number one.
Yeah, I was going to say, four wins is going to be tough to catch for some of these teams.
But I agree.
if you're one of those top eight, you're in the mix, baby.
And it's weird.
Carolina's been much better, even what they lost in the weekend, but could have won that game.
Jack's taking Cleveland straight up.
That's right.
That was bold.
Do you want the plus six, Jen?
Yeah.
It's charity.
Doesn't want your charity.
Oh, Rhett, you're going to be jacked for this.
Aaron Rogers is like Rhett, totally into pseudoscience.
Check out this documentary coming out.
Oh, my God.
I live between two worlds of the extroverted.
One, two, three, dollars!
And an introverted lover of silence.
I'm trying to beat back fathered time and the expectations.
Aaron Rogers ain't for everybody.
Rogers has shared controversial and crazy conspiracy theories.
It just feels like you're either for him or against it.
Losing friendships, family.
It was heartbreaking.
Here come the Jets.
Rogers has something to prove.
It is on.
Protection breaks.
Down goes, Rogers.
Aaron Rogers has officially tore his Achilles.
It's catastrophic.
He's a time for him to retire.
What does the future hold for Aaron Rogers?
I'm coming back to do it all.
Once the race complain, that's not a normal.
People getting to see behind the curtain.
Have you thought about going into politics?
Once I started my spiritual journey, everything shifted.
The metamorphosis is happening.
Most people are not doing the walking.
I'm not most people.
I'm trying to find what a new edge is.
There's football legacy.
Rogers, a touchdown.
And then there's character legacy.
It was going to be the big dog with me.
Do a stop.
Who are you going to be?
I can't wait for Christmas.
Yeah, it's less than two weeks away that one.
I might not be able to go to the drinky show because this thing's just coming out then.
You got your ayahuasca journey.
And when I see it, I'll get all wound up to do all of it.
And I'll just disappear.
Yes.
I'll be between two worlds.
The extra.
Some people are really fucking stupid.
Dean, or just?
I'm not sure.
I laughed yesterday.
I don't know why, but our old fellow Jason Lackett for it came up on Twitter.
And then he had the quote is hard pass.
He's not, he's not in for it.
I there's going to be two two ways to go when you come to the I have a new appreciation for Aaron Rogers
the commitment that he has to you know stepping out on his own and there's some courage and the
strength to walk his own path I I have a newfound respect and then I think there's going to be
another path that some people will take as far as uh yeah yeah I mean look it's interesting he's not
he's not a normal football story
like we get that that's it's it's there's going to be things that you're like I did not know that
I'll say this it would be more it would be very compelling if he came back and was tremendous yeah
right yeah so it's a little harder to he kind of just looks like he's a washed up old guy that sucks
now the jets have all that gross everything around them and he's 41 yeah here's the real this at
37 38 it would still would still be amazing the work that you need to do to your body to
at that elite level.
If we hadn't seen Tom Brady do this at a much higher level
till his mid-40s, I think this people
be like, wow, how's he doing?
You know what I mean?
It's just like, it's the wrong time to be like,
look, I'm 41. They're like, no one cares.
Brady was way older than you and won a Super Bowl.
But the real redemption would be if he went somewhere else
in one, because then it's sort of you could wash away
the stink of these last two years and just say,
oh, that's just the jets are dysfunctional.
I wonder.
I wonder why, I mean, it's money.
It's got to be. I wonder why he would,
because you're opening yourself up to heavy criticism there.
He's not afraid.
I don't think he cares about that.
When he comes on McAfee, it's the same thing.
Like he's not going to pull punches and he doesn't,
he's not really interested in people's opinion of him.
He is interesting.
I don't think, you know,
that's why I wonder why he does it because.
Yeah.
Because he doesn't really, he doesn't care.
So I wonder why he would care to share.
Yeah, that's a good point.
Interesting.
It cuts both ways, doesn't it?
Yeah. Okay.
So, yeah, Rhett, we're going to miss you on.
I'll pencil in a replacement on the 17th.
Or I could, or I could be there.
And we could try some of these,
Aaron Rogers.
What was that?
We had alternative therapy.
We could do some face painting.
We should probably just come to your place because you've got all the gear there.
It's right from hauling it in.
I'll go hang out on the grounding mat.
I'm into that.
Yeah.
Come on over.
Good.
Big shaker.
Done.
Except you, Jack.
Big shaker.
So Jack was busy studying, trying to figure out what the hell is going on with this computer
last night.
He missed it.
But it debuted last night.
We had hard,
You do the preseason training camp one.
They've been in season one.
Did you know what the in season one is?
I saw this.
AFC North.
Talk about Jack's pocket.
Like right in the wheelhouse.
Bangles.
Steelers, Browns, Ravens.
Great stuff.
That debuted last night.
So we're going to lose Jack for a bit too.
Just lower on the topic of
Go ahead.
I'm pretty sure he was.
Speaking of video,
this got to be embarrassing.
I think you probably thought you were under the cloak of
anonymity when you were at the
Bills game on Sunday night
when they destroyed the Niners. We got footage
buddy, I'm sorry.
I didn't know you went to the game.
Shirtless.
It does be colder when you're going no shirt
in this weather than then pouring beer all over
yourself. Oh, but the victory warms
your heart. Yeah, also the
mass amounts of chest hair. Is that a cashmere
sweater, right? What are you wearing there?
Wow, that's, you got to grow it in a little.
If you can do it, you grow it in.
that's quite something
he's got the keys he's got gloves though he's got gloves
you're holding beers all day you're going to need the gloves
no tarp no hat no shirt at least they're not having fun in buffalo
you'll bless him football's better when buffalo's good
I'd even accept their hockey team being good yeah
yeah oh man he fakes it hey you see you know how much those beers cost
he's going to say it's like 40 bucks us didn't yes it's a blue light
that he's dumping on himself there.
Tall boys.
Let's see if we
understand where the memes are at. Jack loves
the memes. This is an AFC North meme.
So this is a foe, I imagine,
texting conversation with Wifi.
Don't forget tonight's your daughter's first dance recital.
And the husband sends back a picture of
Justin Tucker attempting a field goal.
What's that mean? I'm going to miss it.
Jack really enjoyed this.
It's a tough goal.
Best kicker of all time.
can't make a kick.
Gonna miss it.
Got the yips.
The Beaverton does some great journalism here in Canada,
and they are covering the free agency and the majors.
This report suggesting Juan Soto's reached out to show you a tani
about the best way to get Canadians' hopes up
before crushing their dreams.
That's good to see as the Blue Jays are reported to be the highest bidders
thus far on Soto, but of course, that doesn't really.
Doesn't make a difference.
if he doesn't come here.
Also,
bad news for the Calgary Flames is breaking news.
Pat Steinberg reporting on Twitter.
Barn burner.
We do have breaking news this morning.
The team is also reported.
Thanks, Dean. Back to me.
Justin Kirkland's season is unfortunately over
ACL, surgery,
the Costco story.
Son of the.
Did he get the surgery at Costco?
I hope not.
Although it probably would have been hired.
Do they have like a ER beside the eye center there?
On the liquor thing.
We kid, but he's been a, it's an excellent story.
He probably only gets this chance because of the Colchewant claim.
He's made the most of it.
Proved to be a versatile weapon in the shootout, I believe two of three on the sea,
three of four on the season in the shootout.
Yeah.
And establish him himself as a kid that's capable of maybe sticking around.
And now.
20 wise, what the hell happened?
Happen son of a silver lining is he's going to make NHL money the rest of the way because he's injured while he's up, down, but I'm with you, Rhett.
This is a tough blow for a guy that was just starting to establish himself as an everyday NHL.
Battling. The guys liked him. He was doing what.
Decades.
Won the coach over as well?
Big time. Well, I played to the coach earlier too, right? It's twice.
Frick.
Ah, that sucks.
Pour out a little bit of your soda with your two-banger today in honor.
Tough fear for.
Peace and peace.
Yeah.
Turkey.
I hope that's not the...
The good news, though, is just looking at the Flames for...
Successful ACL surgery.
Oh, good.
So it's...
I've never seen this before the opposite, but it is good to hear that it's successful.
Yeah, we took our player to the doctor, and he underwent unsuccessful surgery.
He's going to miss nine years because of this botched surgery.
Should have gone to Germany.
There was a line, so we allowed Rett to pull up YouTube.
and do the surgery.
Unsuccessful.
You can learn a lot.
When's your doc coming out?
Yeah.
What?
Your documentary.
Oh,
I thought you meant my doc out of the lake because it's winter.
I'm like,
well,
it's already iced it.
Is that where you threw your doctor in your lake?
It's already.
I didn't get out in time.
Jeez.
Stop.
Okay.
Red's dumb kids out again with their parkour.
They're finding new twists to do it every day because I'm looking for the light pole here.
I don't see a light pole,
fellows.
I'm getting worried.
very worried about what's good.
You're a thought about this?
These hedges do kind of look like big sponges.
Don't miss, fellas.
Even if you do.
Is he excited or sore there?
I think he's excited, but I definitely think the long sleeves and not short is the move.
Remember what noodles said about diving on the table?
That direct down now, there's going to be branches in there that could be very stabby.
Hence the long sleeve and not sure it's out.
You don't want to get punctured.
I can't believe you're alive after that story being told.
We only alluded to it today, but goodness, you have no place on this earth.
You're already house money.
Like, how many of those left?
Picks and those, right?
Yeah.
Rett loves the rings.
He's always said that Lord of the Rings.
I did.
No, no.
Onion rings?
One of my favorite.
I do love onion rings.
Men's gymnastics.
It's so much so that he got this crane to do a little show in his backyard.
Isn't that great?
The core strength, right?
Wow.
That's a mess.
long arms
extra strong
I'm going to spins it
oh god
I was okay
fall
you can fall into a hedge
Brett's Cirque show at the wind
has taken up
oh
somebody
somebody
cut the rope
I don't know what that was
or did where you did so many spins
that it started looping and it just unhooked itself
Somebody, there was some, I don't know what the word is, but chicanery.
Chicanery.
They were out to get sabotaged.
Sabotaged.
You got some of the Olympic qualifying.
Schpler saw the life insurance package.
Yep.
That whole life.
I could spend that.
That's good stuff.
All right.
Did you ever tell boom when you moved up to Alaska and did that deep sea fishing?
It was short-lived, but I did.
What?
What? Because he would invite himself
if I told him. I didn't know. I love him.
Aaron Rogers, like you like to do
these little personal things. Don't need to blow it up.
We'll see it in the dock when it comes up.
Can't believe you'd keep that from me.
Yeah. Anyway, found some weird stuff out there in the ocean.
What species is this, right?
That's the cod.
That's a big host of chance.
Now, you think that's made of it.
you're headed? I don't know, Rhett, why don't you try?
That is horrifying. What a creature. A lot of teeth. That's, yeah.
I don't even know there are teeth. It's just a huge old gross
mucky yap.
Trust me. Yeah, I don't think that's a bass.
There'd be some teeth in there. Maybe multiple rows even.
Yeah. Potentially. Anyway, glad you're feeling better, Rhett. A couple stitches. You'll be fine.
And we always think about crazy like these cats are, because, you know, we see dogs
around and we see, oh, they're kind of athletes.
Do you want to hear something weird about cats, right?
Sure do.
So in all of history, there's always been cat ladies, right,
that have all these cats around and they get addicted to actually having cats.
I like the nuts.
I was a cat lady for sure.
No, apparently cats get a virus that there's a scent that they give off,
that attracts rodents to them.
Have you heard about them?
No.
So now the rodent actually, the rat is actually like going up to the cat.
You called?
I love you.
Yeah.
And the cats, what the-you rang?
So what they're saying is that these cat people must have got some of this cat shit on them.
And now they are attracting the cats and they don't know how to say they love cats.
Interesting, right.
Well, you love cats, eh?
I'm a big, well, I'm an animal lover, really.
Yeah.
well i mean aside from that that one tiny little issue with the human society and the
dog but yeah you like cats hey oh yeah it's all i can do to kind of keep from making some sort
of a being drawn to pussy joke that right there's something there i feel i'm just rather than go
there i'll just move past it and grind yeah so anyway like the dogs are good athletes but cats are
next level man cats are insane you can like throw them off one story building red don't do it
i'll like land on their feet they're fine they've only got nine lines it'll be fine
Yeah, like, Rhett jumping on glass.
Here's the, here's some video from like, I think, a zoo cage.
These are leopards, I believe, although Jack probably labeled it like Sasquatch.
These are not your average everyday.
No, and check out the hops.
This is unwa-laced.
Lunch.
I'll screen that bad, that is sick.
Massive hops.
That's what my kid wants.
A leopard?
Oh, yeah.
Or a parakeet?
A partridge and a pear tree.
But Jack has it labeled as Jaguars.
Yeah.
It's not a Jaguar.
The sheriff's black, yeah.
Probably spelled Jaguars wrong too.
Actually, that's all right.
They have an NFL team.
That's probably why.
Wait now.
Is the Jacksonville?
That guy.
Wait now.
Wait now.
You said they're black.
I don't know if that's true.
What colors the Jacksonville, Jaguar?
Oh, maybe you're right.
I'm thinking of Panthers.
The black Panthers.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Mm.
Oh my God.
Smart.
No.
That's right, guys.
That's your Penderport today.
No snakes, Dean, sorry.
There was one snake thing, and I just thought, you know,
Dean needs a break today.
I saw one yesterday.
Was it under the hood?
It was a gator with a snake.
Oh, yeah.
And you didn't send it to us?
A mahus.
Mahous of snake.
And you didn't think of me in this show.
No, I immediately did.
But it's like, how can I criticize and like browbeat you daily?
And then submit a snake slash gate.
vid for the
things here that might not be good for
us but are good for the show. It would make me a
hypocrite. Just watch you.
He's Jack going. Be selfless for once.
Could go around the camera?
Oh, boy.
You know what? This guy's attitude
of the last 48
sucks. You know what it is? It's this week.
I don't know what happened on the weekend.
I'm careful. Devil may
care attitude.
He's not very much. He's back.
Say hi, hi, Jack.
Hello.
We're not fond of your attitude this week.
What do you mean?
And it's only Wednesday.
It just feels like you've got some, you know.
You've had a bad attitude.
There was no pizza.
You threatened me that you'd beat me in a wing eating contest last week.
Oh, that was idiot.
So dumb.
Like, you're not making sense, I guess, is what we're saying.
Something's happened to him.
He's changed.
I might be having a court of life crisis.
You got a lot of stress?
No.
Dean told me that you know.
On the ride home last night, Dean said,
Jack's the best because he doesn't experience stress.
It's not part of his repertoire.
Does that what he said?
Yeah.
No, I was.
I was saying the other day,
now we can't get too much into it,
but, you know,
Jack's vehicle,
he gets into a car wreck of some sort.
He's stranded on the side of the road.
He's got some things going on,
his personal life.
Comes into work the other day.
coming up the stairs
it's like nothing faces this guy
or maybe something else happened on the weekend
I don't know and like I said
that's exactly how boom he's learned that from boom right
because boom is always
let it go man
laissez-faire is that a word
that is yeah
two words
French words I feel like stress release is important
if you have stress because we all have stress
how do we deal with that stress
we find a release valve
is there a way that we can reduce
reduce our stress.
Sure.
Whether that's marching into the rainforest there in Rogers and putting
toad blood on our face.
How do we reduce our stress?
And Jack's good at that.
Meditation, Jack?
Yoga.
Something like that, yeah.
Been a report brought to you by Village Honda,
located in the Northwest Auto Mall.
New in-stock inventory.
If you are in the market for a new or pre-owned and you go with,
okay, I hear the guys talk about Village Honda all the time.
You drive through the lots.
I don't really see kind of what
Go inside and talk to them
They're part of the
They're part of the dealership group
The Wood Automotive Group
They own multiple dealerships
They're going to be able to find
It's rather than you go in place to place
And driving around
And let them go to work for you
And find you the vehicle that fits
They're your red one
They'll find you the red one
Dealership for life
Is that right?
How good was that pizza
I bought you guys last night?
It was so good, Rhett
I said that was the other thing
I, Brett and I had quite a chat on the way home
That may be out of the pizzas
that we've had, which happened terrific, that was maybe the best.
And now, I think we need to go back and suss it out a little bit.
We're wondering if maybe it was the addition of the salami.
Because you had pepperoni, jalapeno, and salami on there.
Damn.
It's deadly, man.
Certainly didn't hurt things.
So good.
Thanks for picking up that tab, Jack.
Nope.
They were looking for you for sure, Rhett.
the lovely server who was trying to pay her way through school with her side hustle of serving tables.
I did it with a smile all night despite being an exam season.
Do you know where the fellow with the red shirt was that was doing the show with you?
He sure ordered a lot of food and drink.
What happened?
Do you think he's out having a smoke?
I love smoking.
I'm a big smoke.
I said, well, I doubt that.
So you didn't pay?
Oh, there was, no.
I said, don't worry.
We'll get that sorted.
You're such a.
Jack didn't pay Yosby pizza.
Jack was.
Oh, we made another bet.
It's triple or nothing now.
Holy.
It's not working out.
Triple or nothing?
No.
Yeah, it's a pizza bed who can eat the most wings.
It was a little confusing.
We had to kind of go through a couple of times.
It's not confusing at all.
It's a bet.
It's a triple nothing.
It's a who can eat the most wings.
And it's a pizza bag.
It's a pizza bed.
at all. Yeah. I put
a little something in the drive there, Jack.
It's just a small snippet
from our internal
chat on WhatsApp. Some people have like a
slack or whatever for their, for their company
and their corporate.
The first message is from Ryan.
Rhett, did you walk out on your bill last night?
Server was asking for the guy in the red shirt.
Rhett response, yes, with the next thing. Yes, I did.
I sure did. I woke up this morning.
like, did I pay?
I don't know if I paid.
I must have paid.
And I thought for sure
my buddies would cover for me, right?
I thought the buddies figured you'd cover your tab.
I'm good for it.
We know you're good for it.
Yeah, and I hope Richard's
you're good for it too, or we might not be invited back.
We love the pizza.
How's it going with the new sponsor?
Well, it was going quite well.
So one of the
Hammered stars of the show
Walked, is he, the prima donna thinks he just gets stored or whatever.
Yeah.
What were you making fun of me about last night, Jack?
Ignorantly, by the way.
Yeah.
What are you talking about?
He's watching the show.
Oh, you're crushing your pizza.
We got to get zoom in a view.
Gobbling that down.
You were laughing.
Who was it?
I want to remind you, the top shelf elf Christmas campaign continues.
We've not given, because next week there will be a big push and it's on right now and there's
going to be more things added to it.
But all of the money raised, and I don't know what it was, and it's not, but it's tens of thousands
of dollars that we're able to collect from you who donate, you auction items.
They're on nationgear.ca.
Click the auction tab.
And there's a bunch of them.
there's more being added daily. And you can see there's, you know, some still need a starting
bid. So it's starting. Maybe we're going to do a lot more to get things going. But all of the money
is going to closer to home. They then go out and buy gift cards to shopping centers, grocery
stores, that sort of thing for families who otherwise would not have Christmas to enjoy a Christmas.
And the money, it's turned into, it's kind of a big one for them.
the money that comes from this particular endeavor that we've thrown together.
So we will, there you see it, nine days remaining.
So we've got some time.
I would invite you to go to nationgear.ca and check it out.
And we would love to once again send over a huge donation on behalf of this show.
And all of you, that would be great.
There's some great things in there too, Dino.
Honestly, to sit next to Craig Conroy, watch morning skate and then go to a game that night.
Yeah.
You just can't buy that.
I'm sorry.
To go on the sidelines before a Stam Peters season opener,
chat with the president,
get a look under the hood,
so to speak,
at a brand new stampeters club
that I think there's going to be some excitement about
with Big Play VA coming in.
That's right.
Cool stuff.
And thanks as well to, yeah,
to our presenting sponsors,
partnering with us,
Village Honda,
Anthony and everybody up there to do so much great things.
We talk about the vehicles and that,
but they constantly have,
something going where they're giving back to kids sports or charities or whatnot.
And they are on board with us with this as well.
And our longtime friends at McLeod Law.
This was one of the things they saw what it was.
And once they, once they knew about it, they wanted to be involved as well.
So our presenting sponsors, McLeod Law and Village Honda with us on the top shelf, Elf.
Appreciate that.
More packages.
Well, I'll send it note it today.
We should definitely get those up for the end of the week because there's some other great packages.
not even shed light on yet.
That should be up by now.
So we'll get on that.
We'll get on it.
Jump on it.
Jump on.
Tomorrow on the show, we'll do the great clips inbox.
You got questions?
We've got answers.
Weird ones.
Yeah.
I mean, so long as you're not super fussy about the answers and the advice that you might get,
you can submit your questions, your thoughts, your dreams, the.
the email address, great clips inbox at flames nation.com.
And we'll get to them in a, in a segment that we call the Great Clips inbox.
aptly named, I would think.
So that'll be on the show tomorrow.
It'll be a Flames game day, helmets on St.
Las Blas.
We'll be it.
Yeah, we, I don't know what kind of entrance they'll have,
or red carpet at the airport, whether it's a police escort to the dome,
but Dr. Armstrong.
strong. Love you. Great work this past off season. Really
putting a crowbar into the ribs of the oilers. Appreciate that.
Holloways 8th of the year last night. Roberg back and healthy. God bless him.
One of us. One of us. Key to the city. What do you think?
Maybe to the studio.
Key to the studio. Yeah, come on in. Get rid of Retsky.
Have a barn burner. Yeah. Have a couple of blondes on us.
Have a couple blondes here. A little Bet365 on the way out here today. Bet365. You know it.
our presenting sponsor and world's largest sports betting platform.
Open an account with Bet365 today.
Use the promo code nation when you sign up.
I love for you there.
Whatever the moment, it's never ordinary at Bet365.
So we take a look.
Ratt's going to like it.
He has been a denier of any sort of predator's success.
And we are praying on the Preds here as the Leafs will host them in Toronto tonight.
2. Point Mitchell Marner plus 180.
2.0. William Neeland.
Oh, we willie nielander.
Also plus 180.
One of those hits, we are laughing boys.
A little big game hunting on your Wednesday for Bet365.
Mitch Marner has recorded a point in each of his team's past seven games,
including multiple points in four straight contests at home.
He's 1080.
Straight about it.
Very nice.
Very nice.
Who are we talking the other day about?
Oh, is it Jeff Merrick yesterday about Marner?
It's pretty quiet, eh?
Does the Marner stuff only spike?
in the playoffs is that how it goes yeah when they lose it's murder's fault then it's
martner's fault right if he plays like he's played in the playoffs yeah uh no i what like there's no
cards of the tail i think that leave want it quiet that he addressed it right away and said i'm
not going to be discussing this and here like i rather than pretending it's not happened he
addressed it right at the beginning of the season and it's i'm not going to talk about this so
we're not going to do questions on it yeah it's kept it quiet and they're playing it's do that with
more things i should just say i'm not talking about yeah uh about me getting in
at 4 a.m. and sleeping in the basement. We're not talking
about that. I'm not going to address it. So I'm not talking
about it. Thanks. Okay. See at lunch.
Interesting.
That's totally joking. I went to about
a normal hour last night. I see.
Did you? I did.
Yeah. Normal for you.
I was home
by midnight, I think.
It was odd because I did get home and I thought
about you and I'm like, so this is when
Pinder decides to go wandering
the neighborhood. Look in
search of drinks. Yeah.
I didn't.
He didn't.
It was a clocking back alley.
There's a light on in that house.
They must be up.
I bet you they'd be a friend if I said hi.
It's brown liquor scene.
And of course,
we can't complete any show without RETs top five.
Thank you.
Lowe.
That's top five list.
Available for sponsorship.
Contact our sales department.
not sure how you would, but reach out for Rett's top five.
My top five rappers.
Oh, wow.
Christmas,
Christmas rappers?
Yeah.
Highly anticipated list.
Beastie boys.
Number five.
Snoop a loop.
Oh, wow.
Dr.
Dre forgot about Dre.
To Pock.
Oh, wow.
Dead.
Eminem,
mnam,
ma'am,
m'am, ma'am, ma'am, amna, ma'am.
Oh, wow.
I feel like,
you stub,
The notorious BIG.
I'm a little worried about this.
But it's my top five, not these.
I geez.
So who do we have?
Beechis over the hell I want.
Beasties?
Dr. Dre, Tupac and Eminem.
Tupac.
Yeah.
The rest of the beasties.
Trees and Deas.
I don't know one of the Beastie boys to pass.
I saw Eminem's, uh, his mom died this week.
Oh.
Oh, I'm not giving a thumbs up to that.
Teas of peace.
Did they ever get back to get on, you know, on speaking terms?
because, or he did say F, U.
Debbie in, uh,
that's just a lot of the emotion talking,
Dean's it. Yeah.
This looks like a job for me.
Everybody.
I'm a name.
Controversy.
You had any Eminem blasting in the room before the game
with the young fellas at the rank?
My youngest wants that to be his goal song.
Abra, abracadabra.
You Stevie Miller hooks, love it.
What?
You don't know that one?
Never could ever.
It's new.
I don't go on the dressing room alone.
I'm not allowed.
Remember?
Yeah.
You shouldn't.
You can't go in there.
Well, after that thing you did.
I'm not surprised they made that ruling.
Yeah.
Thanks for that, Rhett.
She's probably talking someone at McLeod Law, I'd be honest.
Yeah.
Well, they were calling them earlier.
Somebody called you on there.
Something law.
M.
Something.
I think they're calling me right now.
No, serious.
I think they're calling me right now.
It's actually them.
All right, man.
So do we have it?
Any idea whether or not the studio will be in working form tomorrow?
Or is there a jack's department?
We'll get our,
our tech guy.
He'll be out here.
Yeah, he's going to fly out from Toronto.
I was going to say he's in,
Orillia.
I got a big day tomorrow, Jack.
Get this sorted.
You do have a big day.
Do you want to talk about that?
No.
Okay.
How I got railroaded into this, but whatever.
Thursday, game day.
Railroading.
Yeah.
We got Thursday night football tomorrow.
Good one.
Yeah, that's good.
Detroit.
Green Bay.
Woo.
Hartford.
Pittsburgh.
Country young.
Till I collapse.
That's the one he wants for his goal song.
Got it.
The problem is he's got to score and that's where.
Yeah, you need that for the goal.
All falls apart.
Yeah.
Sad.
See you, buddies.
Please.
