Hello, everyone.
Welcome to the show.
Bugatti.
I think so.
Jack.
I'm so G.D. nervous.
Definitely a Bugatti.
Poop.
Total baguadi.
What Bugatti is this?
Why?
It's not a fairness.
It's not a boo gaudy.
That's a vehicle.
Bagotty.
Bagotty.
Do we need an apostrophe in there?
Like B.
Apostrophe.
Godi.
I think because it's an abbreviation you don't.
Yeah, unless maybe one of the words you're abbreviating.
A couple English majors here, Jack.
It's put me to sleep.
You want to go for a drink?
Bet365 presents Barnburner, whatever the moment.
It's never ordinary at Beth 365.
It's unbelievable.
Must be 19 or older.
Please play responsibly.
And, of course, throughout the course of the program, we've brought.
You could throw down a little comment with some money.
And we'll take the dough and give it to the youth centers of Calgary.
And then we'll take your comment and put it on the show.
What's that song?
What you do for money, honey?
If you've got the money, honey, I've got the time.
Nope.
What's you going to do when I'm gone?
What you're going to do?
What you're going to do when I'm gone?
Not that one.
No.
Money, honey.
Yeah.
Stay gone.
Stay gone.
Please, please.
Inside you.
The big bopper?
I ain't got no money, honey.
Come on, baby.
You know what I like.
Here we go.
it's the stupidest karaoke song
a lot of time.
Men?
Get your helmet on.
It's a game day.
We don't know how many more of these is going to be.
So, you know, that's also odd, isn't it?
There's possibly two games.
This could be it.
This is game 81?
This could be the first of like nine more games.
This could be the last.
meaningful game of the year. It could be either.
Well, my red pens out of ink,
so may it's stressed. Oh, there we go. See?
Just like extremely high. All right.
Pens are stressed.
Yeah. We're worked up.
We got a lot on our plate.
Yeah. A lot of hand ringing going on
before the show. Rhett's very
nervous. Did you say something about
hoop? Yeah, you bunged up. I'm so nervous
I can't. Bunged up from the baguetti.
Usually it's the other way.
It's all that adrenaline. Weird start.
I feel weird
We gotta start selling the pre-show
Do you feel weird?
I feel.
Let's talk through it's walk her way.
What do you think of my new head?
I look hot.
You look awesome, right?
You're ready for the beach.
Saskatoon,
Saskatchewan,
Pondhawk.
And look it matches the shirt.
Look at the colors.
I did not.
Jack,
what do you say?
You drag the stud guy down to Montana?
I love it.
Yeah, the shirt,
the hat.
Jack, we should be like,
we should be on the beach right now.
We should be the, like,
the guys's point break.
the surfers.
Yeah.
We should just tour around wherever the good surfing or skiing is and Rob Banks.
Oh, baby.
What you think, Jack?
That sounds awesome.
Hey?
Go down to the keys.
A little ushay on the Inc Bay, Aubrey.
Well, that would only have necessary.
Can you surf?
Damn right.
I can surf.
With those shoulders?
Can't paddle out.
But I can surf.
You have to tow them in.
I got to get towed out.
Yeah.
So all the big wave guys are doing.
Yeah.
They're not doing it.
I go to Portugal.
Yes.
Did you watch that dog?
I did.
Oh my God.
It is.
It is.
And then you think about what is it.
You can die there, aren't you?
Yes.
You're going to die.
Oh.
Why are you guys is going to die?
What don't you be?
Sorry.
Stay with me.
Okay.
You mentioned point break.
What was the character's name from point break?
Which one?
Johnny Utah.
Oh.
Utah.
Big tonight.
Tonight.
Holy flip.
How did you pull all that to get?
That's wild.
High five.
Yep.
All we've never high fived in our life.
That's our first ever high five.
You're all right.
It's crazy.
Johnny, Utah.
Get your,
get Utah.
Put a unit down.
Fuck.
Your big unit down.
Hey, get you.
That set.
Put a unit down.
Yep.
Johnny Utah is against the St. Louis blows tonight.
That's what their name should be.
The Utah Johnny's.
Hmm.
Uh, we'll work on that.
Jack.
Because the Utah's last night,
they defeated the Nashville Predators.
They're not going to stand around.
Seven to three.
Damn, right.
They did that Mattville out to him.
They're saving Ventimocacchino.
Take a look at us.
Yes.
Tom, you're our friend of the show.
Our buddy, Thomas Drance,
had this, had this tweet.
We talked, because Vermilker,
the milk has,
don't even know who the backup
is. This is before yesterday's game.
The Utah Hockey Club finally going to start
their backup goaltender for the first time in months
for the first leg of a back-to-back. To preserve
Vemalka to take a spoiler run at the Blues in Game 82
is a level of petty that we should all applaud.
Utah understood the assignment.
We'll applaud that.
Started the backup. Got a win.
Vamalka fresh for tonight.
Johnny Utah, down go of the Blues.
Flames win, then win again.
Playoffs.
You have to cancel that vacation through the playoffs.
I don't know if there's much canceling that one.
And that's not a vacation.
I know.
It sounds like punishment.
Take more days off.
Oh, my God.
Okay.
Just sort of curiosity in that chat thing you got there.
How many people are pissed that we aren't just diving right into coverage of the Bogotti?
No, I think they're okay.
Sorry.
Well, I said to me yesterday.
There's no lot changed.
I mean, we'll get into it.
I don't know what the Vegas is going to look like, but I'm comfortable suggesting
they're not going to look like the Vegas is what of a week ago.
Let's, well, let's take a look for Bet365.
Breaking news coming in from Bet365.
Every nail biting overtime win is a barn burner.
Face off, hat trick, power play, shot on goal.
Penalty shot every suspenseful minute in between is amazing.
Whatever the moment, it's never ordinary at Bet365, official partner of the NHL.
Download the Bet365 app today.
Use the code Nation to get in on the game.
Must be 19 or older.
Please play responsibly.
There is what you see tonight.
The Flames at home.
Underdogs?
Dogs.
Five and a hearth, the over under.
I don't know what to.
I mean, there's not a lot here for Vegas.
Right?
It's a two.
There's nothing for them.
No, there's nothing to be gained by a win or a loss.
But are there some kids playing?
Are they going to be all jammed up ready?
They're not real flush with kids.
They got a lot of bodies.
I wonder if they wish they had that Suzuki.
guy.
Yeah, they probably do.
Look, they're cutthroat and they live for the now.
And it hasn't really thrown them into a rebuild.
So I think they're probably okay with the decision.
Do they miss Suzuki?
Sure.
Do they miss?
Did they like him?
Matt already score 40?
Did he score there?
There was hurt.
Anyway.
It hurts since.
That's, it's the biggest game of the year.
Yeah.
If you want,
their young guys are.
Montreal last night.
Pardon me?
Who wanted Montreal?
It's complicated.
Dean can.
It's a little complicated.
I know, but somebody won.
The point I'm making is that even if you're not playing for anything.
Yeah.
For good or for bad.
This might be the hardest time of the year to actually forecast what the hell is going to happen in a game.
Which is why.
That are out of it can be loose and great or can just be totally disinterested in home over.
So that point, bet three, six, five.
We went in looking for a different action.
It's kind of locked down.
They locked down the anytime goals.
They don't know.
I have not seen all year for a flames game at this time.
It's a bit of a wide.
card for sure. Yeah. We, we know what the flames are going to be doing, which is putting their best out there in desperation.
Well, they start better than the last game, too. Yeah, that'd be good too. I think it being Vegas and not the shocks would probably help with that.
But the last time we saw Vegas, they don't have anything to play for. They're finishing first in the Pacific. They can't catch Winnipeg for first in the West. They are what they are. They're just waiting for playoffs.
they had Patrangelo sitting,
Nick Hague on the back end sitting,
obviously Jack Eichel up front sitting,
and they've been rolling a lot of Akira Shmede,
the backup, and really a third stringer
because they've got some injury issues
instead of Aden Hill.
I wouldn't be surprised if we saw that again.
Brett Howden's playing number one centers.
And if you don't like how,
if you don't like to be a star,
but yeah, he's not a number one center for this team.
Jack Eichel is.
So I don't know.
that, like, they hosted Vegas, what, two Saturdays ago, I want to say? Yeah. Was that the game? And that was
Schmead and Net. Schmead played that night, but it was the full cast of available players that were to
injured. Now they're giving guys rest. As you do. Yeah. And so they're young guys. They aren't really
young guys. It's Alexander Holtz or maybe Cole Schwintel. It looks like a decent lineup.
Yeah, it kind of looks like the flames. That's a, that's a lineup without superstars, but a couple of really good
players like hurdle and stone and riley smith we know what they are it is game 80 for them so it's
it's only 80 they got two more after this that's what i'm seeing so their games played are 79 right now
oh really how they can play three times you know 80 so this is give me 81 tonight then yeah they have
two games remaining right so in game tonight what i what i was saying is if this was their last game
i wouldn't be playing mark stone oh i just i don't know i stone's playing anyway i'd be sitting
him. Maybe he's not.
They might. Yeah, they could bring in a Schwint or
a Rondberg or an Olifson,
I suppose. Is there a Schwint here earlier?
Schwint was claimed off waivers. That opened the door for the
Justin Kirkland Costco vibes.
Yeah, so this is game 81 for Vegas. They've won after this.
This is kind of an awkward in-between phase
for them. They're like, we're not in the playoffs yet, but we do
have to play these games. But we don't want to get
a guys injured, but we don't want to just go through the motions.
And you also understand you're affecting the standings
with who you play. But again,
it's not about them no damn you're damn right dean just like the person you live with told you
if you're waiting for them to lose you're hooped you got to go and win it and then you got to do it
again this is this is the thing we saw it in that first period against san jose when it felt a little
bleak you're not going to come this far you're not going to dig and scrape and the soil yourself
All of this to then drop one, all due respect,
but to San Jose in this fashion,
and then they got it going.
There's nothing left to learn about this team.
We know what they are.
They are what they are.
The record shows it.
They got heart.
We love the fight, the whole thing.
But at the same time,
you do that to Vegas,
even with the reduced.
Vegas is a good team.
William Carlson,
good player.
Riley Smith put it right in there,
took us the last time.
He had two that night.
Yeah,
during a nice year.
So better just, you're going to have to be better than you were the other night, is my suggestion.
100%.
And I think if it's the Vegas, you don't get outshot 12 to 2.
I think you, the urgency is higher.
I asked yesterday.
Those other games start earlier, though, right?
One hour earlier.
So basically when they get to puck drop in Calgary, you've had 20 minutes in the books.
And when you're setting head now for the third period in Calgary, those games are final probably if the end in regulation.
about them Dean it's about us and our fans and what we want to do come on fans make some
noise take all don't forget tonight is clark wilm suck night that's right did someone make your sign let's
have a sign a couple of on the glass please yeah if only during warm up yes but get up against the glass
get down there get some photos send them in we need them on the show willm sucks well you suck
that works too yeah it's much space you have how many letters how much ink um
It'd be nice to see Sammond Govich continue.
Got his role.
He's got four goals in his last three games.
I don't know why it wouldn't.
Don't go changing things.
What?
He's switching back to the steak.
I don't know.
Steak?
He's got a steak and he's got a steak guy.
Doesn't look like a steak guy.
I think it was chicken before.
So how are the vibes?
In my brain?
Yeah.
I got a lot going on up there, but for this game.
Apprehensive.
Apprehensive.
Is that okay?
or do I have to have a, we're going to win or lose.
You have to explain it.
No, it's fine.
Well, apprehensive because I think Vegas is good.
I think there's going to be a lot of chatter behind the scenes.
And this team's going to have to find a way to stay focused.
But if those other teams are winning by the end of a period,
they might, let's go.
Somebody's going to say something.
I am more worried about the out of town scoreboard than I am the flames laying an egg tonight.
Is that fair?
Can we look at that, uh, at the standing?
Do we have the standing skisking around?
Because on one hand, yes.
You go and play.
Don't worry about anybody else.
You can still do that and be in trouble because of that right there.
You don't control your own destiny is what we're saying.
Exactly.
That extra point really would have helped, eh?
Lots of extra points.
You kept bringing up the back-to-back in St. Louis.
Don't do that right now.
You'll really hurt.
That 3-1 lead to Anahe.
last week, four to play still feels.
They've had a few that got away from them.
I have to go over the course of this.
They've also had a couple of comebacks as well lately in the third.
It's weird after 80 games.
They'll give us clarity.
Talk to us after tonight.
I'll tell you what.
By Thursday at midnight, we'll know what they are.
Thursday at the playoff draft, we'll have answers for you.
We're going to know.
We're going to have great answer.
We're going to have great answer.
Maybe after the draft's done, but at some point we'll.
Wow, whatever, don't you?
So tonight, just because you were talking about those other games,
the out of town scoreboard, for clarity, what are we talking about?
Okay, well, Minnesota and St. Louis are both at home.
St. Louis hosts Utah, Minnesota hosts Anaheim.
And if you're, take yourself out of a Calgary market,
doing a Calgary show about the Calgary Flames,
and you place yourself in St. Paul or St. Louis,
you're saying like, okay, guys, you're good teams.
You have good rosters, you've had very good runs this year.
You need to play like it is the playoffs.
You need a point.
they don't have games after this.
This is their last chance,
and they control their own fate.
So I think you should see the best of Minnesota
and St. Louis, and the question is,
how are Utah and Anna?
I'm going to handle that.
Like, I just don't think you're going to see St. Louis
going through the motions tonight.
I don't think you're going to see a laxadaisical Minnesota club
like you did on Friday.
But?
But who won in Montreal last night?
Chicago, Chicago.
Chicago.
I just, these are veteran teams.
when you look at the course of these teams.
Montreal, this is their first time.
And so if you pissed down your leg the first time you're on stage with the spotlight,
I get it.
There's a lot of guys that have played a lot of playoff hockey in these two rosters in Minnesota and St. Louis.
Now look, it's still the league where, you know, bad teams beat the best teams every year, seemingly every week that happens.
It's a bleak.
Not being bleak.
They are being bleak.
But I just expect if Utah and I'm going to win, they're going to have to play really well.
It's not going to be like, oh, yeah, Minnesota didn't show up.
tonight. Maybe they're nervous.
Maybe they are.
I don't think Utah and Anaheim are nervous to your point.
And that's the puncher's chance.
Utah,
paying a seven spot last night. They're feeling good.
Oh, baby.
On the road.
Dean's deep. Is there any point in doing the
win, lose, or extra point game?
What about this?
Is it kind of too late?
We have a graph that grids, grids, grids,
is yesterday.
Grids up and chids. Grids, graphs and charts.
That should definitely be a segment.
featuring Ryan Pank.
Yeah.
I'm writing it down.
I don't know what to think of those other games.
I guess it doesn't matter what I think.
Well, we don't know.
Like we said,
it's this time of year,
it's impossible.
What would be worse?
A Saturday night scenario where those,
but they lose?
I think we laid it out,
is that you're still alive going into
Thursday.
Thursday.
And you tie for points and lose on a tie break.
Or you like win in overtime.
There's your time.
Yeah, exactly.
Exactly. It's the time.
Oh, my God.
Yeah.
Because they can still get to that point, plateau you were talking about.
Minnesota just needs a point.
They're in St. Louis win and in regulation.
If they don't, that opens the door.
See, what sucks is the math's now gotten to a point where I can kind of understand it.
Yeah.
And it isn't good.
You can't lose yourself.
You can't lose yourself in your own stupidity.
No, it's like, well, maybe it's not as bad as I feel like it is.
I'm an idiot.
and I don't understand.
So maybe we're in good.
Well, what if they get three points?
Or can you get three?
I only got one game left.
There's two and one.
What if they play each other?
I don't know.
Oh, shit.
I will see next week.
So, I mean, here we are.
We'll get Pike off.
So there's two games left.
That's four possible points.
Add four points to what they've got.
And then look at the other two teams.
Well, darn it.
It's not going to be hard for them to get to that number at all.
Maybe it is.
They only got one game to do it.
All right.
So let's do that.
The flames with two games left.
That's an advantage for the flames.
They have more games remaining to get points.
Shift your focus.
You know what a fun outcome is?
Minnesota and St. Louis win tonight,
but St. Louis wins in overtime.
Minnesota punches their ticket,
and the flames have to win their next two games,
not just win, but in regulation.
Okay.
Slow that down.
That's not fun at all.
That's the most mind-bending.
Slow that down for me.
Minnesota wins.
They're in.
Overtime.
They get their.
point, whatever they need, they're in.
St. Louis wins, they get to 96 points.
The flames can get to 96 points.
So if both teams get to 96, how do we decide who goes in?
The role.
Ret Warner's, regulation wins.
Yeah.
So if St. Louis gets a ret Warner, they're in good shape.
They're in.
If they get an overtime win, the flames need two rat warners and they're in.
See, now I'm getting lost.
This is perfect.
I need to get you lost.
You're feeling good.
I got it to the book.
I'm not feeling good about any of this.
So we're ready to celebrate.
Both the blues have 43 regulation win?
No.
Oh,
that's just normal.
This is just normal way.
I say this.
I say this, folks.
I say this.
I say when the flames secure,
playoff victory or spot,
spot.
I don't like the word spot.
It's too simple.
Birth.
Birth.
Playoff birth.
Clinch.
Let's rock the red mile.
Brett just wants to drink with Jack.
I'm totally blessed.
Let's rock the red mine.
Jack, are you ready for a drink?
I'm still so confused.
Okay, so St. Louis wins in overtime.
The flames could have the tie break.
Yeah, so St. Louis will be done.
They'll have 82 games played.
They'll have 96 points.
The flames, if they win, they're both, they'll also get to 96 points.
And so then you will go to which team has the most regulation wins.
So the flames would have to win the last two in regulation.
Okay.
And then they would hold the tie break on St. Louis.
Screw you, St. Louis.
So there is still a confusing way that this can go, which I know we were all hopeful for.
Yeah.
Real confusing.
Yeah.
Yeah, the regulation wins story, just so we're absolutely crystal clear.
Is that true?
31 regulation wins for the Blues today.
If they win in overtime tonight, they're stuck at 31.
The Flames are 30 regulation wins.
If they win both in regulation, they get to 32 and win the tie break.
You're confused.
I've won.
Pinder is wrong.
It's not even a game.
It's not for you to win.
I'm not, that's math.
No, no.
But yes, regulation wins, Daryl, that's what we're saying.
RW.
Argue with him, Pinder.
RW.W.
The blues have.
31, the flames have 30.
Where is that chart from yesterday?
Do we still have it?
Because you had the, you got rid of it, right?
I can screenshot it and send it now.
Fellows, this is a fact.
Darrell's out to lunch.
We're not talking about R-O-Ws.
We're talking about regulation.
Let them have it.
Pinder.
Don't tell.
First tie break.
Can I just step in?
Just from a purely entertainment standpoint, this is painful.
Unless I apologize to everyone who's listening.
I want to get Pinder wound up yelling at Daryl.
It'd be great.
I was going to say, yeah, if you like the comment.
You're right, I'll just
just going to let
let Ryan go there. I just wanted you to
feel lost again. Ryan is
running. Ryan is giving facts, not
fiction. That's my promise
at least. Okay. Sent to Jack.
I hope you're wrong, because
then we can ridicule you, but
wouldn't it be wild if both these teams win tonight,
but somehow you're still in it? That
is what happens with the St. Louis
overtime victory.
The times are also winning.
Who do they play?
Utah's, the Jack, Utah.
Jack, Jackie.
Just mini player.
Johnny Utah.
Anahe?
Anahe.
Oh, I like that.
Anahim team.
Do you?
Dostal.
Dossel looks like he's going to start.
Oh, shut out.
Shut out.
Shut out.
Utah's.
You deleted the,
I said,
I know,
but it's like,
get rid of the graph.
No games between yesterday and today.
And today, be like,
well, we can use that.
There it is.
Stupid Jack.
So first tie break is RW.
Luce have one more.
Jack, we love you, man.
So if the blues win in overtime tonight, they would stay at 31.
Calgary has two games left.
They won them both in regulation.
They would go to 32.
32.
Regulation overtime win?
Yes.
And so you don't want it up a 31 because you are going to lose the second tie break,
which is ROW.
Now it's getting even more comfortable.
So it's,
we don't like all the three point games in that.
At least there is some value being given to winning in regulation.
Absolutely.
We need that.
Oh, yeah.
You don't want stinking skills competitions determining.
I don't want the playoffs.
That'd be a good offseason conversation to have.
What rule changes would you like to say?
Are they maybe a three points for a regulation win?
During the four nations,
when there was nothing to talk about.
You do wonder, though, if teams would bust their arse a little bit harder to win in reg.
Yeah, they would get points.
It should be done, but Gary likes the, it tightens the standings and falsely keeps bad teams
to hand around.
It's good for business.
Like the team recovering.
Yeah.
100%.
It's failed.
No, it's good for business.
If you did the standings at three points,
there's a lot of teams would be out of it sooner.
I agree, though.
It'd be great if there was a play end game.
Yeah.
You're tied.
Get ready.
How would you?
Who would get home ice?
How do you decide?
Coin season series winner.
Probably.
It's better than a coin.
So it'd be in St. Louis because they won those two games in San
Oh.
And the one here.
I think.
Yeah, they beat us here.
Yeah.
It's three for three.
When I was beacon Robert Taunis for being terrible.
Smooth.
He's very good.
Yeah.
I thought it was supposed to be better.
Sterrell still yapping or is he conceded, Jack?
I need this.
W.
Yeah, we don't get him at home.
You're right.
Yeah.
This is, this is the essence that you can, you can try,
but there will be nothing will come to a conclusion until.
If he's not winning.
He's not losing.
Lay down your,
lay down your queen.
Yeah.
There is,
Pender will never lay down the sword.
That's right.
Richmond's tonight going to be jumping.
Richmond's pub.
Sports live here.
3919,
Richmond Road in the heart of Glamorgan.
Great food.
Is it Tuesday?
It's a wing day.
Oh,
let's go.
What's your order?
I'm pretty standard hot.
And deal pickle.
Yeah,
that's a good order.
I want some fellas there a couple weeks ago.
They had kind of a,
Honey hot.
It was like a hot, hot sweeties.
It was very good.
Korean barbecue.
I would go for a smorgasbord so we can all taste.
Bring them out.
Just a large platter place.
Do you like to have the wet ones and the dry ones.
They have them separate.
So nice.
This one dry.
This one wet.
Don't sleep on the pizza.
Oh, that was so good.
Drink specials.
Barnburner blondes in the cans.
Origin brewing there.
Oh, it's the weather for a blonde.
It is.
blonde weather is. It's blonde summer.
Might be blonde summer again.
A blonde summer? Cold blonde summer.
Richmond's pub. Sports live here, 39.19.
Richmond Road.
So I'm apprehensive.
You guys didn't answer.
Can I?
Well, we did go through that there.
Yeah, I was saying the out of town stuff is,
I'm not worried about the flames.
I think they're going to play hard tonight.
I like the chances.
The whole thing has me apprehend.
Can I, do you think there's a chance
we can get you to cautiously opt to,
like kind of elevate that a little bit yeah yeah yeah why not okay oh wow that was
cautiously optimistic yeah why not yeah i don't know why i'm to have to be let brought up to
cautiously you guys threw in a towel last week i heard yesterday you played in the league so
i didn't know that i mean that's important he played if he's accomplished cause i tell you we should
all be cautiously did i tell you that's been before my time don't call that sure
I forgot I told you.
I got to remind people that more often.
Yeah, you do.
Ret Warner, NHL, 772 games.
You should just have a shirt.
I played, you know.
Why apostrophe?
No.
Yeah, I know Wachs.
I played in the league.
Thanks, Wax.
I played.
You mentioned the Chicago, this Habs.
A lot of chicanery up there.
Get a win.
You're in the whole thing.
Get one.
We told her out about Demandhov yesterday, too.
Yeah, we did.
How exciting was that?
Yeah.
Well, we can start with Demadov.
A lot of pomp and circumstance.
Ivan.
Ivan Demadov, Russian phenom, made his debut yesterday.
They were, they were.
Look at that.
Six minutes into the first nice dish.
Dish.
Like his number two.
Out to the slot.
It doesn't get easier for Alex Newhook right there.
And then, still in the first period.
That play, maybe, back end.
How many minutes been there, really?
That's 13.
13. 13.
And there was another shot of him on the bench,
reacting to the crowd.
He does the, holy fuck.
Did he?
The crowd's losing their bananas.
I don't know if there's a better crowd.
No, not when they're playing like this.
I don't think so.
It's also the most exciting time.
What's the goaltender doing on that?
You're a goalie dad.
like, what on the duck one?
Like, are you fucking sleeping or still hung over?
That's your language.
Damn it.
It's war again.
It's Montreal.
If you want to stay out late, if you're a night out, there's things to do.
Must be right.
Well, if it's night, he's not allowed to.
So I won't mean that rudely, but like, you're literally asleep.
Oh, it's dumped in.
Oh, oh.
Fake shots in a little freeze him a bit.
Did the game start?
So where does this shit?
The hands are quick, fellas.
Why aren't you poking that puck into the corner?
Loading up for a shot.
It's a nice little fake.
I don't care what the Demadov's doing.
I'm watching the goaltender stand there and look at it like a idiot.
It's too hot of a hop.
No, it's not.
Is the hop too hot?
No.
That's not a hot hop.
All he's got to do is poke check the puck into the corner instead of let the guy have a breakaway.
You're an idiot.
Okay.
Sorry.
I'm just.
He does bounce back.
I'm having a bad day.
He does bounce back.
As we go to.
Let me set this up for you.
before we go.
They tie the game, the habs do, with three and change left.
Barn explodes.
Wow.
I thought the habs were up to nothing.
Well, yeah, Demadov gave one away on a silver platter.
Chicago took a lead late.
You don't worry about that.
It's all right.
This kid's great.
Peaks of that.
Don't worry about it.
That's a full experience.
They tie it, go to overtime.
Who, hey, it was very clinical over, very coach, coachy.
Slow it down, back up.
No, no.
Hey, possession.
No, they all the old, stupid possession.
Even my kids were whining about that to the day.
with Vancouver.
They need a rule.
Yeah.
It's awful.
So they get to a shootout and, you know,
what you need to know is someone named Frank Nazar,
who plays for Chicago.
Love that name.
Goes in, loses the puck,
gathers it, goes backhand,
puck must go out of play, no goal.
Like, okay.
Patrick Line, go.
Goes in, does not score.
What?
Linae always, I know.
So then it's time for, uh,
Ravinen to shoot, which is where we can bring you to now.
But before Tera Vina shoots, they're like, okay, oh, hey,
just, before you go, we've gotten a phone call from the uppers.
They're like, there's a chance that that Nazar shot where we don't know where the puck went to.
You know where we said.
There was no goal.
Actually, it's in the net.
You mind.
But this guy scores, neither refs sees it.
I don't see it.
They send line A to center.
He shoots.
Zarr sticks up.
He's selling.
He knows it's in.
I don't know if he does.
I don't, I don't.
He sees to go in.
And then they're getting ready to let Tara Vine and shoot.
Guys,
it was in.
The puck is still in the net.
That's so hacky.
So to kind of capture,
so that,
so Nazar goes in,
shoots.
I guess the refs thought the puck went out of play.
There is netting in Montreal, I think.
Or into the equipment or something.
So they grab a new puck, throw it out to center.
Now.
Is that because the league?
It's tough because the refs really in a poor position.
Yeah, it's hard to.
They're getting paid off.
The league is.
I better know.
Out to screw the habs.
Is that what's?
No, they're to get them in.
They tried to make it.
Well, yeah, I guess that's how that would go.
Yeah.
Except then the league calls and says that's actually.
Well, it was too obvious because everyone in the was phoning the league saying,
Why are you guys cheating for Montreal?
That is that's not even how do you miss that?
I happen to be watching it live and it was one of those but you didn't
you didn't really think about it.
Well,
the refs okay.
It's in his gear or what?
And then they do stop it.
And my kid is like, yeah, like what was that last one?
What's up with that last?
Does he not look like he's raising a stick to sell here?
Yes.
He thinks it's in.
And rightfully so.
If that's your shot, he sees it.
Look at his eyes.
So the rest must have been like, yeah, that wasn't in Chicago.
It was like, whoa, whoa, whoa, why we had zero on the scoreboard here?
That was in from Nizarar.
But there was no celebration.
I can tell you, like Nazar just skates back to the bench.
That's what we're here to do.
We don't have to overreact.
Anyway, that's a bad look.
No one knew it was in.
The broadcast crew didn't know.
That's gross.
Refs didn't know.
Thank goodness for replay.
That's what we say every morning here on the show.
Thank goodness.
I always get it right.
Thanks for having replay.
That's right.
Yeah.
Make sure you call down.
Also last night, more controversy.
More.
I'm sorry to bring so much controversial content to the show today, folks.
Hot takes.
Oh, he's upset by this one.
Well, no, it's just tough.
You know what?
It's a burden to bear, Dean, and it's yours.
Tough night in Edmonton for the Oilers last.
Oh, no.
What happened?
Is that Evanton playing?
We're taking on the Los Angeles Kings.
And as we kind of laid out for yesterday, home ice, they're going to play each other in the first round.
It's the fourth year in a row they're going to do this, the same match.
Yeah.
Who is going to have home ice?
It looked like the Kings.
They have an advantage.
But this game, because it's still lots to be decided.
The Kings beat the Oilers 5-0.
Oh, they beat them about the head.
There was, yeah, but there was no about the head and shoulders.
Yeah.
More on that in the moment.
No McDavid, no dry sidel.
Ackholm is injured.
He'll miss the first round.
They were without a lot of players.
So you can miss the whole season then.
I think at Combs effed.
So now this play, you know what it's like when you're frustrated like you are today.
Yeah.
Right.
You're frustrated.
Yeah.
This is Quinton Byfield.
You play at the left side of the net for old.
Roll pickard.
So NERS kind of gives them a take down and then one of those.
But I thought Darnell was a big proponent of head safety.
Safety.
Yeah, I know.
That's Corey Perry noted.
No, no, no.
Last year.
Earlier this year.
or last year.
Well, he got drilled by Reeves.
Yes.
Why would you target someone's head?
I'm playing great sense.
I don't know.
So like how.
Look at this right here.
This is full intent.
Bonk.
Whoops.
Hey,
we're playing a series next week.
Maybe I'll just give you one of these.
So Byfield leaves the game.
Does not return.
Nurse is given a game misconduct.
Will,
will there be supplementary discipline?
Can you roll it back, Jack?
The first part's almost worse than the second.
Exactly.
Exactly.
Do it.
Because you're kind of like suplexing the guy,
taking him head first to the ice.
It's deliberate.
You know what?
If you asked Darnell, he'll tell you,
we don't want this in the game.
So, yeah, he should get suspended,
at least two.
Now, there was just for context,
five minutes left in the second period.
He gets the game misconduct.
No, no, no, I know.
Let me just walk through all the details here.
He has.
Just because not everyone was watching this game.
He gets five-minute major,
the game misconduct.
They're traveling today,
and he won't be available
to chat the league until later tonight.
If I'm the LA Kings, I'm going to make sure
the league has an injury report on Quentin Byfield
before these two parties chat.
Because is it just like this game's meaningless,
we're already up for nothing, quitting you go sit?
Or is it like, no, he's concussed
and he might not be available around one.
Because that's going to affect the ruling.
What did Ben get?
That was in the playoffs, right?
Dallas, Vegas, when he cross-checked Mark Stone.
I just, but there are similarities
when a guy is laying on the ice and you go at the back
the neck and the head and you know
damn well you're doing it.
Yeah, that's an intent to injury.
There's nothing else there.
There's nothing hockey about that.
No.
He's already down and out of it.
Whistles gone.
I'm angry.
One more.
Oh, here you go.
Ben got two playoff games,
obvious, two games.
I think you should get two.
It gets two.
That'd be the final regular season game and the first
playoff game.
I sort of think this is a fine to one game
would be my range of expectation.
I kind of agree with you.
But yeah, it is hilarious when he and Cody Perry are both vocal proponents of clean play.
And they're just grease balling it up second half of the year.
Philip Dono at the one of the intermissions.
This one got, it got away early.
Lots of penalties.
It was three nothing and four.
I mean, it was very much lopsided.
Dono said, you know, they got their B team in there trying to hurt us.
And then they asked Perry about it afterwards.
Fuck.
What are we supposed to do?
What are we supposed to do?
Oh, I mean, I'm out here playing clean hockey, being a model citizen.
I'm not sure that's what he said.
No, it's not, but he definitely was acting as if he was that.
Just like when he said he was really worried about goalie interference earlier in the year when Skinner took one.
And then he, like, what, three games ago, literally rammed his skates into a goalie's head.
I kind of like it, though.
Oh, but just, yeah, he's a heel.
Let me, let me.
Why one game?
Why not two?
Here's, here's, Ken.
Ken says the question is there's two headshots there.
There is.
he's twice targeted.
So do you look at the takedown and then the cross check?
I don't know.
The whole thing.
I don't know that the take down gets you.
I thought the take down was worse.
If he's concussed, it's not from the second.
It's the first.
And there's not a great camera angle of does the head hit the ice directly or is there a glove under there?
It's tough to see.
But if Byfield's out with concussion, like you can go beyond a game here.
No sweat.
That is part of the league's form.
And Bifields better be out with concussion if he's not.
The Kings aren't.
stupid yeah you're hurt he definitely can't play in game 80s no no he won't be available Thursday
against the flames no I'd sit a lot of them I take that copatar guy he's washed up
yeah another 20 go I don't even it's all right you know we need a ding on your soundboard we did
the ding for four or five years I had a lot of things was not time to move on well when I have an idea
you can use it for that too.
Ding!
Before you forget.
But I think the Kings have two games left.
If I'm correct.
I believe you're right.
Right there, right?
One for sure because they do play the flames.
They play Thursday.
I think they'll one more before Thursday.
Kings have two remaining.
Yeah, because I know they had one less game played
than the Oilers who only have one left.
So how?
Let's call J-Rod and see how it is up in oil land right now.
Or they, it doesn't matter.
Honestly, it's gone awfully, but.
None of that matters if they look good in game one.
The team that they had in the ice last night was.
Yeah, it was no good.
Because you saw what happened, what, two nights ago,
McDavid comes back, they beat the Jets in Winnipeg.
It's kind of hard to even equate what three.
Oh, are you sick?
Are you sick?
It just got healthy.
Oh, man.
Are you sickie?
No, I'm good.
Can't be coming in here.
Are you eating your veggies?
Sleep, water.
I just sneezed.
Sick people.
Yeah.
Not good.
Well,
huffing on those smelling salts all day.
I hope it works out for the Oilers.
I'll hear you.
Yeah.
I hope they get some good news.
They're doing some good news.
Yeah.
Maybe get a break.
A while since they won a draft lottery.
I know, right?
Probably down in there.
Luck.
Vinanova is Calgary's lab grown diamond specialists.
The only store in Calgary that specializes,
exclusively in lab grown diamonds, the largest selection of loose lab grown diamonds and jewelry in Calgary.
They have moved within the last year to a location at the market mall.
You're a big fan.
Secret location.
Yeah.
No, it's not secret.
No.
It's not secret.
Very public location.
Yeah, very much public knowledge.
November is when they moved.
It's been a while now, yeah.
Unlike Dean's pickle guy, they actually, you know who it is.
That's tough.
Labgrown diamond has the same chemical composition and crystal structure as an earth mine
diamond it's kind of like
it's very devious
hey
it's like hey
how you doing
it's up with you
nothing why
I don't know
just something right
no no
same hardness
and light refraction
as any other diamond
over here
I don't know
what you're looking for
you know
yeah I see that
I mean it looks yeah
I don't know
tell you a secret
I was bored
in a lab.
Whoa.
The diamonds talking.
Yeah.
You can, and you know what?
You get someone like me?
You might save up to 80%
instead of what you'd pay for
one of those stupid dirty, dirty
dug out of the earth diamonds.
Dirty, dirty.
Those dirt diamonds?
Dinosaur poop diamonds.
Don't you go telling anybody.
And then, you know who it was?
That was Justin. And then he went and opened
Venova.
So you can't trust him, I guess.
Yeah.
No, you can.
I'm joking.
He's a good guy.
Great spot.
Why?
The diamonds are in many cases better quality than earth-mined diamonds.
And you save big money in the process.
Vena Nova.com.
Valentine's Day is coming.
That is true.
There's some things coming.
What about Mother's Day?
Christmas.
Mahathas Day.
Christmas is coming.
Thanksgiving.
Canada today.
Oh gosh.
That banger that is.
Chances are you've got a anniversary or a birthday coming up.
Both probably.
Vinanova.com.
Why go anywhere else and enjoy that parking because I know you will.
So good.
So good.
Any grids in the Pinder report today?
Nope.
Damn it.
It's yesterday.
How.
Asterisk, Dean.
Asterisk.
I come here to learn, Ryan.
I come here to learn.
See, you didn't.
understand the asteris yesterday because when I explained it this morning that blew your mind the whole
st. Louis can win but in overtime with flimging really it's possible i was going with a bit but for sure
explain it well maybe i was going with a bit too you just i think if it was purple we've all would
have had a better understand yeah i blame pike purple wrench even jacks is jack got her look at this
jack's got a wrench i got a wrench i got a wrench i got a wrench i got a wrench why you why you're
hammering a dart in that photo what's going on here jack throw that back up a second i don't think you were uh
much for dances.
What's going on?
What is happening there?
Didn't you have the old Utah hockey
inside it for a while there?
Oh,
bags?
No,
that's on my WhatsApp.
Oh,
got you.
I should have had that guy on.
Oh,
I want to say the big win for the Johnny Utah's tonight.
We'll get them on.
Yeah,
we'll get them on.
But to your point,
all of this,
you know,
the grids and graphs and charts
and everything has been a lot of fun.
Yep.
Has it?
lot of learning.
We thought we would have months, like plural,
months of meaningless hockey.
There has been zero meaningless hockey from this team.
One way or the other,
it all kind of comes to an end.
Maybe not tonight.
Well, the regular season does,
and then they go to two months run
on the back of Dustin Wolf.
And then we all believe that we're one player away,
just like I've been saying.
Yeah.
And you go over for agency.
10 a year.
bottom out.
Shit.
You and Jack,
they're going to have a lot of time for beers.
You and Jack
can have some time for beers this spring.
You've settled in nicely, though,
because there was a while you were,
you got to get,
come on,
you can't get bottom 10.
You can't be giving up this draft pick.
I think they went through the deadline
and didn't trade
and we understood why they were in a spot.
But yeah,
like if you're being honest with yourself,
like,
you probably aren't going to get as much
verasmus as you were then at any point.
If you're going to trade them,
probably resign him. I don't know. Like, I just think,
making any sense. You were the guy that said a first threat. Daryl's
year with the replacements, the first year of Nazim,
the first year here, Rodeau, the first year of Uyghur, you scream to rebuild.
Yep. And like, less than a year into one, you're like,
they should have tried it for a score, get rid of some picks and get some guys.
And what about Zegras and what about this guy? And I think, you do need to pick a path
here at some point. Well, what's not you? Like the flames. What is it?
Well, I think what they do with Rasmus and Anderson is going to be the.
Yes, but we all know.
They couldn't give up.
If they trade Rasmus, they're going to be aiming to pick a little higher.
And if they resign them, careful now, they're going to be trying to get in the playoffs next year.
I think guys will be pissed if they trade Rasmuch.
I think they will too.
But I also think if you just look at asset management.
But I think if you're going to trade.
That could be a dangerous contract to hold on to for eight years.
Move more than one because like I said, I think guys would be pissed.
if they moved to Anderson because it sends that.
Unless you go replace him in free agency.
With whom?
A left shot guy because you got a billion or 80s anyway.
But yeah, like,
Demetri Orlov in two years,
I don't know.
Oh, God.
Yeah,
it's hard,
it's hard just to pick a name out of the air,
but that's what you would do.
It wouldn't play a man short,
you wouldn't not replace him.
It doesn't mean,
it just doesn't make,
well,
they will replace him if they move.
Like,
at Blaz's a UFA.
He probably stays in Florida.
There's some D out there,
but.
It's not like there's deals July 1.
And Rasmus is a year away from one of those not a deal guys.
He's, I don't think he's in the deal.
No, I guess my, because that's lots of offseason talking.
Yeah.
I guess I just mean with this team, it just, it's hard.
But once you kind of settle in, they're not that good and they're not that bad.
And you admire the hell out of the game.
They are going to be right where most fans loat them being, which is.
Ninth in the West.
Right.
Maybe we shouldn't loathe, but I do too.
I loathe it.
Yeah.
And look, I don't see a huge amount of roster turnover.
Like everyone's saying,
all the trade all these old,
all the old guys have no moves.
And they believe.
Like, you're not just going to trade.
Yeah, they got wives and Uigher or,
like Coleman.
They all have no movements.
Like, and I'm not saying you should trade them,
but you're going to return a very similar roster in the fall.
There is,
but I think also, you know,
Jacob Markham had a no move.
If somebody like Coleman or it,
it's just that they won't want to.
Why wouldn't say?
Because they believe.
Look at them playing right now.
Well, you don't,
but we don't.
Well,
if they don't make the playoffs,
they don't make the playoffs,
what are they believing in?
They believe they make sure we might last year.
Yeah.
But so you might get eight or seven,
maybe seven.
I'm just saying that I don't understand.
You're not the fucking GM as the player.
So you can believe all you want.
And if the GM goes on,
I'm making moves.
No moves.
Yes, but they can move other pieces.
and they can tell the guys, no, we're, we're, believe all you want, but I'm moving your buddy.
Because we're not, we are rebuilding, right?
Like the players don't, the prisoners don't run the pen.
Like they don't, I understand what you're saying, they believe.
Yeah.
But that's quickly changed when you send a message.
I'm not saying he well.
This is dumb conversation almost.
But if the GM sends the message, no, no, no, no, no.
Next year we're bottoming out.
We're going rebuild.
We're going to go get McKenna.
Then those guys are quickly going to go,
I don't believe.
And I'd like to get the F out of here.
Thank you very much.
Yeah.
It's just that all the guys you'd want to move are the ones that have that protection.
I don't think Connie's doing this either.
I don't think he wants nothing to do with the season that went like last year's
where he had the deal with moving like five veterans.
But if you're moving one, I say you do both five.
That's part of it.
And now Anderson, blah, blah, blah, blah.
But if you're sending that message,
and if you don't believe, what should he believe?
What?
Because ultimately it's Murray, Mr. Edwards, and Craig Conroy that decide the direction of this team.
What should you believe?
I think you should believe that they're very firmly placed in the middle of the league right now.
They're not close to winning a cup, but they're also not real close to bottoming, you know, to get McKenna.
Can you put the, the, uh, their 16th in the league?
I'm sorry, if you can't, you can't.
They're 16th.
Yeah.
And how hard would it for them to be, like you said, even a month ago, lose?
If you traded Rasmus Anderson, you'd be struggling.
There's a lot more Miramana.
Right.
Like, how many you're 16, 20 points less?
Even if they go into the season next year with the same squad as this squad, no guarantee
you're better.
They could very well be 20 points, 10 wins.
Yeah.
Right?
It wouldn't be that hard for them to have 10 less wins.
Yeah, it wouldn't take much.
to have a worse year with the same roster.
All you need to have is some sort of a setback or like 95% of what you see from
Dustin Wolf, never mind an injury.
Yeah.
Or you have an injury.
Well,
and you could.
Cadre Weger Anderson.
Those guys have been playing all year.
Healthy's probably the wrong word.
But those guys going away,
they don't have centers.
Can you name the centers under contract with this team next year?
Yeah.
And I feel for a lot of those players.
And I'm just using Coleman because here's a guy that's one.
And he's just got kids,
just out of baby.
Life's good.
That whole thing.
I would think that the trade protection is not so much,
don't trade me out of Calgary.
It's where are you trading me to?
I want to control.
So I don't, okay, I don't want to go there.
It's not that I'm,
that's competitive.
I won't accept the trade.
It's just I want to have a little bit of control as to where I'm going.
Yeah.
And I just think if they have,
if they play game 81 and aren't eliminated until either tonight or a Thursday night and
they miss, I don't think these guys can be like, well, that was a waste.
I'm out of here.
I still think it's like, we made some huge strides this year.
the culture in the rooms change entirely.
We saw the breakout of a star net liner.
And it isn't that.
It's if they're approached by management.
Yeah.
I don't think Connie would do that, but I agree.
Well, then he,
they have to have some.
This is what I've said a week ago to noodles and you guys and about the,
the,
whether you should have went and got a score or not, blah, blah, blah.
At some point, you're going to do,
and if it happens, it could happen tonight.
And what happens is they do it too down at the dome.
They get all the scouts and,
and GM and management and everyone sits in the room and they go over the year.
And that's what's going to happen is you're going to do an autopsy on the season.
And you're going to go, what are we?
Yes, it was great having games that mattered.
Game 81 matters.
But we didn't make it.
What are we?
Are we, is Sharon Govich scoring 30?
And that means we're going to have 99 points next year and we're a lock for the player?
else.
Like you're going to.
And what I'm getting out with your conversation,
or what you're saying is it's very,
for sure they believe in it.
Right now,
going to the rink at morning skate,
tonight,
going to the gate,
they believe.
Yeah.
What happens if they don't,
if it doesn't happen,
and it's made 29th.
Yeah.
I agree.
That feeling and that camaraderie is gone and you're
spending summer and you're,
and then you're doing an analysis of your team going,
all right.
Yeah.
Yeah.
The way to really rattle.
all the vets is if you trade Rasmus in the summer.
It changes everything for them.
Zane Preck coming or not. That's one of your
core players and it's a guy that
needs a contract in a year and change.
We'll have the conversation,
obviously. Again, this is a long way down the road.
A lot of hypotheticals in there.
But as one of your points,
if you just say, oh yeah, game 80, get ready
for game 81, it's going to matter.
All we said is, can you imagine
if that game against the Kings mattered?
You laughed.
And we kind of knew a bit about this team by then.
Because when was that game canceled?
Post-old from, right?
Early December.
Yeah.
A lot of fires.
They got a lot of heart.
They do.
And I think sometimes us talking about this team trying to get a little worse,
to get a lot better long-term,
is dismissing what this team's done.
It's not a slight on them.
This group here that's been put together has so far
exceeded the expectations of everyone
outside of that room. They deserve
the congratulations that
they'll get, whether they make it or not.
They've been so much better than anyone thought.
They've worked their tails off. They don't
often get outworked ever.
And every other league in this team is
spending a lot on players to work hard.
They're outworking most of their opponents.
We've taken some runs. That frigging Joel
Hanley's played his balls off. It's been unbelievable.
Hey, ball's been playing his balls off.
He's going to make himself some money. He's a free agent.
We agree. The goals are way down, but he's
He's been terrific.
Wolf has been playing with Miro or the last you hated plus.
No,
I just mean he's on the right side of the ledger on a team that's way underwater.
Keep it going.
We got nothing to do.
We got nothing to do.
I want to Jack,
Red Mile.
You want to fire up the Red Mile.
I'm going to that.
I'm going to buy a fire truck and just be cruising up and up and down.
We're just going to be a driver, I fear.
Police pull you over.
Oh, look at me doing.
I was trying to start a party.
I was trying to fire up for a block.
Like Will Farrow.
Yeah. Strieking.
On the quad, go with the quad.

All right fellas
It is a Calgary Flames
Game Day
Let's see what's cooking
On the old website
Okay
Pike's got it figured out for you
The wrench is on the case
What needs to happen on Tuesday
For the flames to stay alive
In the playoff race
I don't think it's that complicated
What about that same
What was overtime man
That's the one grid
That's the one fly
In the Oates
Because we've had that grid
Yeah, they win that grid.
And that really doesn't matter until Thursday.
Because if they don't win Thursday,
you know, tonight.
Win tonight for sure.
That's a good prospect stuff on the website as well.
Matt Bay Griddens had a very nice campaign in the QMJHL.
Five goals already this postseason.
He's cruising.
Another guy from the 2025 draft class that's had a good year.
Also in there, Arsetti Sergev signed the Penn State Netminder,
a two-year ELC.
Get to that.
Matt is one of the best goalies in the Big Ten.
Excellent collegiate career.
Suddenly a guy that I imagine
would be vying for some minutes with the Wranglers next year.
Seventh rounder.
They love seventh rounders here.
Wolf, Salov, Sergeyev.
Congrats to Transaction.
Transaction.
Looks a little big.
He's a large, large human.
There's that.
Let's look at the wild card again.
celebrating the deal. Yes, I sign big deal with flames.
That's a direct quote. Thank you, Orsini. Wildcard, there it is.
How did you get in touch with them? Text to get voice. Voice. Yeah.
Recorded a message in the times. Yes. Eventful Tuesday for the wild and the blues are both in action. We know that. Flames have two left. We also know that. We've gone over all this. It is tight. Yeah. It's crazy. We never thought this would happen. But it's, did you know the Minnesota logo is.
not just a scenery, but also the mouth of some sort of a carnivore.
Yeah.
Wow.
And it's like a bear or a cat.
Kind of looks like a feline-ish.
Yeah.
I don't know what that lump is on its head.
Maybe it got a ear.
That's its ear.
Kind of like a rat when you look at it as in here.
Negative space there.
It's kind of a year like that.
The river is the mouth.
Very deep stuff here.
In St. Louis blues, that's a note that you're seeing.
Because they've seen.
Music blues.
And you know, the way my stupid brain works,
I only see the head and then have to look for the,
Oh, the wild.
The stuff in the background.
The landscape.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Flames were named after a fire in Atlanta as well.
So there you go.
That's your update for the wild card.
Go everyone.
Flames got a big win the other night.
We've been showing you at odd junctures this season,
the Flames TikTok, because Rhett really likes getting into what the youth are into.
He's really keen on just relating to the youngs.
So this is what Jack and his brethren watch after you're on social media.
Brat, brad.
And Flames,
the what?
It is.
Good incorporation.
I could watch that for hours.
Of the fart sound effects.
I like the screaming gopher rate to Rasmus, similar facial expressions.
One more time?
Yes, please.
There's so much there.
Full screen on rat.
Brat.
Brat.
Brat.
Brat.
Bram!
Bablo.
Bablo.
And Flames the what?
That's a lot of ed.
That's a lot there to make that.
Nobody's anything.
That's AI and it's so easy.
It takes you guys.
So out to lunch, get up with technology.
Catch up.
That's what we're playing it.
We're getting you at the speed with the technology.
I'm just glad that the kids have that to entertain themselves with this world.
Should not let, do you hear the farts?
First of all, you're the Calgary Flames.
You should be classier than that.
If we want to do fart noises, we can do fart noises.
You guys are the NHL.
not the chel the n-h-l they're not doing that on the broadcast i don't give a shit what it is you're
farting around your organization it's the teens you're relating to the teens you know what i'd
hate well i'm not going to say it you know what ret would have been in those dads i wouldn't fire the
person that did that but i would have a stern conversation would you get to their office
or would they come to you're calling them up they'd be coming to your office this way okay
is you're gonna have the meeting here he needs this is oh get the bonkers is
GM hat this is your president's the bunker get that app here i want to talk to that yeah dickhead
that made that video oh dear okay language listen here loser any more of this horse shit comes out of
your office it'll be the last thing you won't be rocking on the red mile with me your socks
and burkins socks you got it yeah we're not going
going to be fired up the red mile together.
How many HR violations did you have in 30 seconds?
I like,
impressive.
I like how you really drove your point hole with your gritted teeth as you told it.
You should have seen my motivational speech with the plates.
I give me.
Oh, yeah.
They'll probably laugh at the green rice.
Yeah, look, you got a hair.
Rest of the West, we'll take a peek.
Right.
Right.
Right.
Right.
All we need to see is who these wildcards are going to be.
We know we got Dallas, Dallas, Colorado and the two, three in the central.
We know we got kings and oilers.
Hey.
Stop in us.
Here.
Who did the Jets want to play and Vegas wants to play?
Because Vegas plays the flames.
It could be, they could be thinking about this.
It could be.
Huh?
Eh?
Huh?
Yeah.
Maybe that's why our friends of Bet 36-5 are locking the bets.
That's called subterfuge.
So with that in mind, of the candidates, who do you think?
think Vegas would want to play.
Because we know,
Winnipeg is going to face the top.
See, a real top end sports show.
Uh-huh.
Would have this broken down as to how,
what the season series was like for,
does that matters?
For Vegas versus Minnie and St.
Louis and Calgary.
And same with Winnipeg.
Blues are missing hollow.
But we're not that.
So I don't give a shit.
I think both teams would rather.
I got slapped because of it.
All this I,
you brought up.
Idea guy.
You say you don't give me.
Details.
Idea.
Details.
Sorry, Ryan.
Back to you.
Ryan back to you.
Apparently.
Yeah.
As I was saying,
the Kings will have home ice in their series against the Oilers.
Yes,
they will.
One of the best home ice records in the entire league in the
Ever,
ever?
Ever, ever?
31 wins.
Is that what they had?
A lot of wins.
Five losses and regulation at home.
And how many do you play at home?
I'd say 41.
Right.
Like, they haven't even played 41 yet.
They've got one more home game.
Thursday.
going to lose, of course.
But it's in that.
So 31 of them is a lot.
Yeah.
To still have one or more remaining.
Right.
Decent.
Let's go to the opposition tonight.
The Vegas Golden Knights, these jerks,
tough on the flames,
especially on the strip,
less so in Calgary.
Good people.
Centering the top line.
We need Shankowski.
Uh, yeah.
We need Jankowski.
He,
had one hell of a game once against
this Vegas. A four-goal game.
Game 82 against the knights. Yes.
Huh? He's a stone cold.
Can we get a Spencer Fu?
As noted earlier,
guys that have been taking a pass
rather than playing, Petrangelo,
Hagel, Eichel,
Oloffson, Hill.
See who they start tonight.
I had a grandpa named
Olaf. Great Grandpa. Really?
Olaf. Olaf. That's a great name.
You see the guy with the candy factory?
This be a Norwegian.
This seems Scandinavian, doesn't it?
Swedish.
German, Olaf Colzig.
Keep moving.
Ufta.
So you're missing two of your top four here.
It looks better when you have the McNabb and the White Cloud a little further down.
Does that look worse?
If you put the flames line up side by side with that and they're missing?
It looks about the same.
Do the noodle?
Yeah, like your,
your Theodore Hanofan could be your
weaker in Anderson, just like
And then on the left side, yeah, they're going to be better
than Hanley there, yeah.
Ball for White Cloud, okay.
Third pairs, washy.
I'm taking a lot of times.
Sorry for the audio.
Samsonov is supposed to be their backup.
He's dinged up, Petrangelo, Ikel, blah, blah, blah.
That's not good either.
You can hear that?
Yes.
I can't hear that.
Do it?
Go, right.
I mean, stop making noise, you jerk.
Wow.
Easter standings, let's go.
I'm still mad about my meeting with the social media.
Toronto, one point away from clinching the Atlantic.
Oh, so happy for the Liefs,
Ontario.
Way to go.
Florida would be great as well.
I love you.
Metro is all sealed, one, two, three.
Wild card's getting interesting.
We talked about this with Montreal.
They drop a game to the Blackhawks in the shootout last night.
And what does that mean for the wild card?
Well, it means Columbus ain't dead yet.
two games remaining.
They will play at Philadelphia tonight.
They host the Islanders later this week.
If they win them both,
they can reel in Montreal,
but Montreal has one game left.
They win that they're in.
They play Carolina.
The Keynes.
We're very good,
but won't have anything to play for me like,
I was,
for some reason,
I was thinking about Commodore
and rocked me like a hurricane last night.
Really?
The dreamer.
Maybe that's why.
Maybe I looked it up.
I was doing my research,
doing my rounds.
Columbus's schedule we told you about it's a couple of teams you'd like to play this time of year rather than you know LA and vacuston guessing Montreal's just got Carolina left that's a huge game in Montreal the place to be jumping oh that's the best building in league right now today if you had a big game for this week you got to go to Montreal no other market is going to be wound up like this one I get that there's some emotions all I get it I do all do respect I would much rather
have Montreal. Yes.
And Toronto in round
one than Toronto, Columbus.
It would be Montreal, Washington, but yes.
Or whatever it is. I just
Montreal. Montreal.
All due respect.
NHL News,
tried it. Now he's back.
Gabe Landiscaug, two points, two games.
The American leads coming back.
This is incredible.
Terminated.
Must have been a real dick.
The conditioning.
was terminated.
Get this guy out of here.
Return the captain who hasn't played since they lifted the cop back with the abs.
What a journey.
It's quite a story, actually.
Yeah, it really is.
And we don't know what he's going to look like yet, but to get this far,
he's already beaten all the odds.
That's a bit cheesy to say.
But yeah, he's done a hell of a job battling back.
I'm a little cheesy.
So that's why it probably sounds that way.
Darnel Nurse, going to be in trouble.
not very nice to Quentin Byfield.
Chuck, you can't be cross-checking people in the face.
Come on, buddy. Hearing.
We also got some, a Dregor update that I alluded to earlier.
Emton traveling.
That means he's getting suspended, right?
No, it could mean he gets 5K, but the league's going to talk to him.
5K?
That's a parking ticket.
It's the maximum allowable amount under the collectively bargained.
Yeah, it's a parking ticket.
NHL draft prospects or do we have something else first?
feel like we got one more before that.
Owen power.
Yeah, bad news through the sabers.
At least it's another shitty year.
Okay, can we have more details?
Like, is there something?
Do we see something?
We need you to use the power of imagination.
All right.
He would be happy that it happened in, what,
game 81?
You'd like that right before the offseason hits.
Hey, I know you got a nice vacation plan.
Why don't you wash that out and come rehab for three months?
Yeah. Let's get you into the,
into the ER here.
No good. Sorry, Owen.
Central scouting has released their final rankings for the upcoming
2025 NHL draft.
Matthew Schaefer from Erie.
He hasn't played.
What do you mean he hasn't played?
But it was hurt. Is he from yellow grass, Saskatchewan?
Not if he's planning the yellow, I'm guessing.
But maybe I'm wrong.
Move there as a kid.
Go ahead.
Peter Schaefer.
I'll look at us.
I thought Schaefer.
I wasn't asking where I was.
It was exceptional status, Michael Mesa.
number two in North America and the guy that was number one at the start of the year,
Boston College.
What happened?
James.
Okay.
Is this the Shane Wright 2.0?
No, Shane didn't play in his draft year, actually.
That's a crazy one.
Meanwhile, in Europe, Europe, a couple teammates from Gergarten are the top two players
on the board, Victor Eklund, younger brother of William and Anton Freundel.
Really good seasons over in the Swedish.
skin second vision what do we think of the names let's just in inter if you're just going by names who
are you taking first overall because i might roger mcqueen the queen's pretty good roger mqueen is pretty

Mert, Mert, cut.
Well, that Jake O'Brien just, I think he's hurt.
Oh.
Did you find out if Schaefer's hurt?
He just said he didn't play this year.
Roger McQueen.
It's like going to the world juniors and such.
Roger McQueen hasn't played all year and he's still that hot.
He got back.
I want to see a month or so ago.
And he is huge and he is a right shot center and he is the guy.
I'd love to see slide to the flames,
but probably won't get that far.
There's Schaefer.
Pretty darn good.
Darn good.
You liked him a lot when,
he's not a world juniors.
I love this.
Tensity and
get itiveness.
Ovi was on Pat McAfee.
Let's do that before tonight's games.
I don't know if you saw this fellas.
So McAfee's beauty.
I think these fellows got really into the four nations.
They got into the goal chase a bit.
He's got the record. He's on the plane.

It's not super important.
Not super important.
Boston, New Jersey, Toronto, Buffalo, Columbus, Philly.
There's probably look at that.
They are only three games.
Very small font.
Games that matter would be.
I'm interested in this battle of Florida, not because anything matters,
but what we saw last night with the Oilers and Kings got nasty.
I expect these two teams to get nasty.
You know what they did?
They set the tone.
Set it tone.
Set it.
Come on, Utah.
Utah.
Johnny.
Johnny.
Johnny.
Johnny.
And we love the dog.
Yes, we do.
Always have.
Love them.
Cutter Goce.
You can't shut up with those New Jersey.
Oh, they look so good.
McTavish.
Who.
No.
Habs fans are loving the flyers tonight.
A lot of rooting for the teams in orange.
They need a Columbus loss.
Okay.
We'll keep moving.
Rory, this surfaced.
Everyone still basking in the glow of that incredible masters.
Here's Rory at nine years of age on an Irish talk show.
When you can't get out from the weather,
really bad I know that you practice in the house don't you yes and tell us how you

1999 glory
on a magical TV show
It's pretty good
One of the rare golf stories
Where
didn't come from
Feels good
From huge wealth
Yeah
This was
Blue-color family
That's right
Love golf
Something got a little weird
In Toronto last night
What's so great about that
The health difference doesn't make
What am I going to
All right
It's golf where you grow up
It's usually guys
The guy's successful
because his parents paid for a bunch of shit.
Is it that guy's fault?
Just different than like,
Charles Schwarz.
You're the worst person in the world
because your parents had some money.
Jerk.
Jerk.
Okay, so this is the Atlanta Braves broadcast.
That's for you?
Right?
Yeah.
That's why Pinner and I get along.
So, uh, tell me the friend.
Sorry, Ryan.
Go ahead.
Braves are up for a rip.
The Atlanta broadcast having some fun.
They've done the renovations at the old,
uh, Skydome,
the new Rogers Center.
And their roving reporter, their Hazel May.
I love roving is a dude roving at the Corona flight deck.
A lot of fun up here up the Corona rooftop.
Who do we got here?
What's your name?
My name's Lauren.
Lawrence.
And I'm Kayla.
Kayla.
And you guys hang out the rooftop lounge often?
Once a year I come out to visit.
Okay.
Well, we timed it pretty well.
How are you guys feeling about route for the Braves today?
Oh, I don't know.
I'm hoping for the best.
What about you?
Are you Braves fan now?
Not quite.
Not quite.
All right.
I'm going to go to work up here, guys.
Good luck the rest of the way.
Okay, Wiley.
You got five innings, four innings to get the numbers.
Come on it.
Come on it.
Get us some more Braise fans.
It's a good night and tears.
I'm dead serious.
They're saying to my right.
I shouldn't believe me because she thinks you guys are, are not making this up.
Even if you guys weren't, I might use that in the future.
That's a pretty, actually, pretty good move.
This is unbelievable.
So the best part of this right now is that Wiley could totally be faking.
This might be the new move.
Just walk around with a fan dual microphone and an earpiece in and convince fans that they're actually on TV.
I should have thought of this years ago.
Well,
one for one.
That boy Wiley,
I guess,
or it's either really,
really highly unprofessional or it's like great entertainment.
It's baseball.
You can do it all there.
It's for nothing.
They're keeping us interested.
I was going to say it's like,
what game 12?
Run out ideas already.
God, it could be a long year.
Jesus.
I don't know.
He could have quite a lineup if this works.
All right.
What's next?
What do we got, Jack?
This is your,
I need to know what's next.
I've got to get the order right.
Okay.
Is this Rory?
This is a driver off the deck.
No,
that looks like it hurt a little.
Also not worth it.
Building?
Building.
building.
What building?
You're out of sorts today.
What's going on?
Out of sorts.
Spoiler alert.
I'm having a day like me.
Spoiler alert.
We chat with Tommy Wilden Jr.
for 10 minutes before the show today that will air at the end of this program.
And that's what took you.
And so that took some...
It's airing today.
Thank you.
Okay.
And that's what...
And so that we have a very, you know, labeling issues and such.
We still have our cliff jumping, which we need.
We love the cliff jumping.
All right, big guy, you got her.
Woo!
What's the last boat?
What's going to miss a ball?
The hell you're going to swim back?
You could die.
Boomer's arriving right now.
No, I just put down Tommy.
I didn't know we were doing that today.
Yeah, good.
So we also on this show, final thing,
we have a huge amount of respect for paid leave.
Oh.
There is a new guy on the leaderboard for paid.
leave. Mike
Boodenholzer was the head coach
of the Phoenix Suns. He is no longer.
He has four years
at $10 million a year
left on his deal beyond this
year. That's 10 million
US a year
for four years to
not work.
Gentlemen, if we could.
That is some really good
paid to not work. That's the key
is that you've got to maximize
lack of effort.
to its fullest.
And that's what this man is doing.
He can probably get another job.
As long as it's not coaching basketball,
he's getting all this money.
Don't get cute.
Well,
even,
yeah, like, you could go get it.
You know, maybe you'd be a bartender or a barista.
You'd be,
open your own doggy daycare, Dean.
But then, the question then,
once 2029 hits,
then what are you going to do?
Because, yeah, you'll have about 25 million.
Inflation.
and all that.
You guys got to make a living.
A good friend of the show, John.
You're going to be used to living on 10 million a year.
Yeah, you're going to have to scrape.
You got to change your lifestyle.
Idiot.
If you're wondering, that's 485,000 US a month after taxes.
Prove it.
Huh.
And so pre-tax, that's 833,000 month, US.
Good number for you, bud.
It's a really good number.
Which is over a million Canadian a month.
Phoenix.
Daryl settled out.
Very nicely done.
Imagine.
Giving you the double.
Yeah.
Give you the double.
So to Mike and everyone that knows Mike
and to Mike's bartender
and to the people who sell cars to Mike
and to Mike's new friends on his upcoming
four year vacation, congratulations.

Fine with people that do love it.
I'm not a lover.
of lamb, but you know like meat sauce or milk either.
And I don't understand that because you love meatballs.
Here's the thing I've,

It's just, it's the, the,

I probably could.

We never had meat loaf.
We'd have meat, lots of meat, meatballs, like you say,
whatever, hamburgers, whatever.
She's never had meatloaf.
I've never made it.
Imagine throwing that on the table for the kids.
They might be blown away.
They would be.
It's delicious as well.
They wouldn't know what it is.
A toasted meatloaf sandwich.
Yeah.
Well, maybe.
It's like a burger.
Yeah.
But it's a loaf.
Yeah.
Right.
Yeah.
It's made of meat.

So what was wrong with the show today then?
Do you know what?
Jack had a bad attitude because I beat them early.
And he's sick.
And he's sick.
That's what it is.
Right.
Of course it's that attitude.
Yeah.
Sneezing over there.
Getting your snots all over the stuff.
I'm not sensitive.
That sounds like something.
No wonder.
Pender didn't want to go to the game with you on Friday.
So sensitive.
What was wrong with the show?
I didn't say anything.
It was wrong with the show.
You guys are being sensitive.

yeah
are you upset
that we didn't have a grid?
Do we not have enough hippos?
Was it the round?
It's your own fault.
Because we didn't have the regulation win chart handy or the penguins lose last time?
Not enough grids.
Why do you berate him on the show live every time?
That's the problem.
I just go to Jack.
He's just trying to do his job.
I've got some news that a Winnipeg, Nicolai Eilers is going to miss what looks like the first round.
He's week to week, Scott our new announcing.
Oh, dear.
And so it begins.
Yeah.
Curse of the president's trophy.
Yeah.
that's very Eelers.
His hat is so tight.
My head is pounding.
You can take the top one or the bottom one.
Because you have two of them on.
I've got my safety hat on for safe today.
That was your team president hat today.
Because you put it on to give shit to the TikTok crew.
Right.
Yeah.
When you did all those HR violations, that's that.
I liked it.
How do you know that they have HR, those are HR violations?
Because they're a big company.
It's 2025.
They have the HR department.
Oh,
F yeah.
That's,
that the president can't say to some place.
And you know what we've got?
It's maybe bring it back around.
We have got a super chat.
Not a pressure.
Yeah.
Just like the flames relying on the fans.
Youth centers of Calgary about to get paid with a super chat.
Let's see.
Courtesy of Rydstar,
at great shows last two days.
Glad woke culture's gone.
Have we been, uh, is that us?
We were always.
I'm sorry.
What are we doing?
See, Jack's loving it now.
I know.
Jack starts the show.
He just wants to get us canceled.
Jack starts the show with his pronouns in the comments.
He's like, if these ass hats get canceled, I don't have to do this.
Yeah, he's the guy.
Collected of the check without work.
Hey, Lee.
Did we do something that would have been not socially acceptable?
HR.
I gave the TikTok.
I showed a video of a reporter hitting on women at a ballpark.
Oh, I see.
Some people think that's crazy.
I think it's awesome.
A lot of people did not think that was tasteful.
In comments or else?
Who the hell are they to stop, love?
Yeah.
Standing in the way of love?
Is that a song?
Go down to Vena Nova.
Buy yourself a diamond and start doing some loving.
Get some loving in your life.
Yes.
That's right.
Nope.
Is that the only super chat?
No.

You changed the way you pronounced your name.
You're a Littman and you're a flippie, floppy, flopper.
Don't like it.
Thanks, right.
And this young Warner fellow,
I think you'd like that long reach on the blue lines.
Sad news about Simon again the other day, hey?
Yeah, I didn't know if you wanted that in the Pender Report or not.
It's not unexpected.
No.
Do we want to do more, uh, bet three, six, five?
Sure, I got to come more if you want.
Okay.
Baseball tonight.
I really wanted to hit the Salmon Govich.
Yeah.
Because he's been flying.
He's got four goals his last three games.
He's been swimming.
It's been swimming.
Swimming.
Swimming. Right.
Spawning. Spawning.
That's not as good.
No.
Santander hit the over yesterday on this total.
And Kevin Gosman had 11 K's his last time out.
Not saying the Js are going to win, but I like Gosman to fan some braves and
Santander over a base and a half.
They have opened up.
They have opened it up.
Oh.
If you want to get on some Salmon Govich.
Yeah, I'm going to get some.
Anytime Saman Govich plus 350.
Oh, that's a big number.
Anytime goal.
Yeah, I'm riding.
Rodding with the salmon.
Delicious.
I like salmon.
I am really making noise.
Yeah, it's a lot of noise.
You spin that thing and you thump it around and I got a lot on my mind.
I know you do.
Really?
Stressed them out.
I don't talk about it.
It might make you feel better.
I won't get it out.
My answer was you, by the way, for that.
It was you.
All due respect, rest and peace to Chris Simon.
I don't really know where you are, Tony.
But against the Vegas Golden Knights team tonight, must win.
And you know what it is?
It's not just your ability.
It's your heart, your respect, your grit,
and what you're going to bring to that team into that room tonight.
And his mustache.
I wouldn't be hung over at all.
What would your, can you put on your player?
hat, veteran player hat,
if you were going to give a motivational
speech to the team before the game.
Yeah, I already did it.
What might it sound like?
You imagine this crazy
bastard going around the dresser, just
friggin' stare?
Do you want this? You gotta want it.
You bet you never break.
You had a kick of an answer.
Oh, okay.
Another late super chat coming in.
I don't know what the hell it takes.
Money, Honey by State of Shockrette.
Where's my?
Where's my ticket?
Where's my ticket?
Is that that song you were talking about?
Money, honey.
I don't know.
State of short.
I don't know.
I don't remember anything.
I'm so stressed.
I know.
You're really stressed.
Boy, Ritz on a tough day.
Let's find the song.
Afterburner tonight.
Yeah.
With Monsieur Pinder and Kent Wilson.
Is that it?
Is this the song you were thinking of?
Nope.

No.
Okay.
So, I mean, it's, so,
worst show ever,
according to Jack and.
What do the commenters think,
Jack?
Do they think this was a horseshit show too?
I mean,
we got a Bugatti tonight.
This was not our,
let's run a poll.
I don't think,
you know what it is,
is I think we're all apprehensive.
We're just waiting.
If we had a little bit more,
just if we had a little bit more confidence,
if we felt better,
we'd probably.
All the games tonight of St.
Louis had played last day.
Tomorrow's the show.
Yeah.
I think we've,
I think we've really tried to straddle the line and not be too negative and keep hopes up,
but I don't know how we're,
I don't know if we did that today.
I think we're some nervous Nellys in here.
It's a little bit of nerves.
Yeah.
A lot of uncertainty.
Yeah.
Maybe Tommy can save it for us.
Do you think there's a chance?
What are the damn game on Friday?
It's going to be nice.
16 degrees.
Mint.
First home game of the year for the defending champions of the CPL.
I'll bet you.
I bet you haven't been back since day.
one. I have been back.
He has.
Yeah. My kid, nose bleeding
your car. Yeah,
that was day one, wasn't it? Was that day one?
I've been back since then.
I hope so. How's your car?
It's fine. Yeah.
Shaw stacks.
Oh, dear.
God damn. When did that
go south right after you T-boned somebody
or somebody T-boned you? Somebody teaboned me?
So you ruined that?
Yeah. No, COVID-
that and COVID.
But it's like $8 grand for each one of those cameras on the front of that car that I can pin to rent.
Insurance got about $30,000 worth of the damage.
The driver's insured.
This is false.
It's not.
No fault?
No fault at all.
I don't know.
I got to talk to Peter Klein for answering these.
I was going to say, seems a little.
Now you see him apprehensive.
Some guy ran a red so late that me not leaving the stop.

I got to go to the convenience story
right see if I could find that guy again
yeah shotguns embarrassed
the hell was that
you drive it yeah
shotgun a beer
he just didn't really care about
this answer
Take us home.
All right.
Tommy Wilton,
Jr., head coach,
general manager at Calvary
FC, defending champs.
Champs.
That's right.
First home game of the year
at Gofield of Spruce Meadows
Friday at 5.
Let's bring them in.
Tommy, Friday, coming up.
First home game of the year,
you've got to be excited.
Yeah, it's been a bit of a false start.
We've waited all this time to get going again.
We had a two-part pre-season.
You know, with Conccaf being the first part,
and then prepping for CPO after that.
And then we had a really good performance away at Forge.
The result just wasn't as good as it needed to be.
But we get to start at home and we get to start again and be back in front of our fans,
which I feel pretty cool because the last time we played at Spruce Meadows,
we were lifting silverware and tasting champagne.
So I can't wait to reconnect with the fans and I know our players feel the same.
I was going to say that.
I mean, the last time your fans saw you, everyone was smiling year to year.
Some people were crying.
There was a healthy glow on everyone's feelings.
face. You guys lifted a trophy. That's got to be excitement. It's season seven. What is what does
that first championship do for you coming in this year in terms of I'm sure there is as much
relief as there was joy and I guess celebration on that day? I just think it's there's something
addicting about lifting trophy, the hunt. It is definitely always the hunt. No matter if you if you
lose the last game of the season or finally win it and you have in five months until you play.
again. It's certainly more fun, but let the hunt, you know, the hunt for climbing the table.
We're in the hunt again now because of the buy week is we've got to climb the table.
So I think that's the addicting part of it. We know that you have to go through and suffer.
I think the best teams that are the most successful, know how to suffer, know how to get the gritty
one-nill games away from home or maybe not play so well and put points on the board.
But once we've done that now, you're chasing more because I've said to,
the lads and we've looked at it and said, look, we've won the league a couple times,
we've won the championship now.
What do you want to do?
And they're like, well, no CPL team has won the Cam Champ.
And we've got a really good draw on our side.
So you can't ever underestimate the people you're going to play because everybody wants to kiss
the trophy, but you've got to play the team in front of you.
So that's what we're looking for now.
You know, we want to chase more trophies because we want to be the best team.
again this year. All right. So a lot of us are just sort of, okay, snowing on and off here.
It's the very late start to summer in Calgary. Soccer. Oh, yes, yes. Okay, footies back. Nice.
CPL's back. Okay, let's get dialed in. What's the changes with the team?
You've brought back Tobias Wershefski, which is huge golden boot winner, huge gold in the championship.
I mean, he's just been money for you. We saw the retirement, I believe, of Charlie Trafford,
who was an integral part at times with the club.
If someone's asking you for the Reader's Digest Notes on what's changed since that championship game,
give us, get us up to speed.
Well, I think that was the big one.
We had, you know, we brought Toby, you know, out of the wilderness, you know,
taking a year, year and a half off, give him a low contract because that's what we had in the cap.
He was ready to go and just play again.
But we rewarded him.
The lad is a killer.
And he's so, he's a player that you want to watch, right?
because on some days he'll produce some elements of magic and other days you'll be like what's he
doing out there but for the most part the bigger the game the more he rises and that's what i like
to work with as a manager so as soon as the champagne had dried out we made sure the ink was wet on his new
contract so so for koum our assistant jm and i worked a lot on on that we also worked a lot on
you know we knew with dan klompi had rejected us what four or five times did over it and it was all with
the greatest respect and we just know that we haven't got millions to throw at him to change his life.
We're a salary cap of 1.125 I think it is or 8-5 now. So you've got to manage that.
So we knew that you can't replace Stan Klomp directly. So we have a bit of a moneyball system
and thought, right, what goals did he provide that say a Lowell Wright and a Malcolm Short,
the others that were missing and even a Willie Akio? And we kind of formulate
that into right, let's sign Jay Hurdman. He's young and he's an up andcomer and showed really well.
Kennege Elva, he was a free agent and a player that, you know, grew up in Calgary,
player for Calgary Southwest United and somebody that I'd played and coached against
as a youth coach. Fenomenal talent and very similar to Toby that he has wow moments.
So we thought, well, maybe his goals can replace it. And maybe it's time for, you know,
Cobser to take back that starting position that he did very well in 2023. Had he had
not being hindered with the injuries.
You know, Callum Montgomery, Tom Field, also very good.
And part of a back line unit that my brother works so well with,
of Brad Cairn, Fraser Ed, even Michael Harms played some role plays in front of Marco
Carducci that was the best defensive unit in the league.
So we thought, right, we've got to replace his goals the other end, and we feel we've done that.
And then when Charlie Trafford, you know, full transparency, he was actually going to hang
them up at the end of the season. But knowing him so well, I said, but Champions League, right?
You've only ever played in it once. You've earned that chance to play in it again. So if you're
still feeling that way, pre-season, let me know. If you want to come back, then let's have this
crack and we'll reassess because we have time to build. And what it did is it helped him create
more history. You know, his goal was important against the Pumas, but his personality, his profile,
you know, he's a local hero here, but he means a lot to myself.
and the lads and he's just a terrific player and another one that's hard to replace you can't get a
six-foot-three tough midfielder that's soft feet it's just it's a weird combination that he has but he had
it and especially his charisma on the pitch but with it we bought ourselves time to actually get a
michael baldissimo that is a younger different type of you know defensive midfielder but he's a
ball-player player midfielder that can pass it right and left foot he'll dictate the terms he's so savvy
that spent most of his time now in the MLS.
So we know with him, he's now on the upwards climb of his trajectory.
And then beyond that, we've got one more signing coming in in the next day or two,
and we'll be done and set for the summer.
Another defensive piece that we're excited about.
But we've also now, whilst we're, everything cyclical,
whilst we've got this championship winning squad
and we've got our core guys that remain in,
we're actually working on the next cycle underneath
that you see the Niko Moroniaks coming through
and myelon rees will come through and and i think these are these are good pieces for part of the
takeover geez i'm excited about the signing now is it ret warner by chance because he'd be a big sturdy
defender yeah a vet a vet a vet no longer the tooth i don't know but it's cardio maybe late minute
sub what are you looking at there i think when we say about parking the bus he'll be parking his
minivan and just sat in front of the six-yard box it's got a parking it all right yeah that's very good
Okay, so you've competed in the Concalf Champions League for a couple seasons now.
You got thumped pretty good by Orlando, which I think was probably a really good learning opportunity for you guys.
You had your chances, you weren't surgical, they had their chances they were.
How much better did you feel your club played this year when back in February you got to play a Mexican giant pumice
and actually beat a Mexican side, which is the first time a CPL club's done that?
And I think you've known this with our years of conversations is we're an adaptable club.
You know, one of our ethos is adapt and overcome.
So when we first had the opportunity to play Orlando, we knew we couldn't compete in the salary cap with the players they had.
But we didn't know the level.
We know we've had games against, you know, white caps and Montreal's over the years where we've been able to compete.
We said, look, let's just go toe to toe.
We're playing in it.
And we weren't even playing at home, right?
playing at Starlight Stadium is another one.
So we thought, right, let's go at them.
At a really good opening 15, 20 minutes,
put them on the ropes,
but like all good pugilists,
they then just picked us apart and pushed to bed pretty early.
So the second game became a moot point.
And again, we had a good go,
nil-nil at half time.
Second half, we went, right,
let's go and try and win this game to get something out of it.
And again, by doing so left gaps that they took in,
but we did score our first Champions Cup goal.
We learned, we adapted, we moved on,
went on to win the league by 13 points.
With it then we wanted to now learn from those moments,
say what can we do to be maybe a bit pragmatic
going into the first game,
but using the conditions, it's Mexico,
they're coming to the cold.
I think we can actually pressure them,
smaller pitch, because when we go down there,
it's gonna be a lot harder and losing a man
just before half time,
but playing 180 minutes and only losing by a goal,
It's pretty impressive from this group of lads.
Yeah, fair enough.
Do you worry about, you know, that's a really, really high point of the season in the sense that that's probably going to be the toughest opponent.
Your club faces potentially all year.
Is it tough to get back and up for regular CPL play or have you been waited long enough that you're a bit of the starving dog here?
You're ready to get rolling.
Yeah, it's funny.
The boys are being like caged animals right now because we actually had to set our own internal midweek league.
and my brother managed it, we call it the Dutch Masters.
So it's literally like the Davis Cup in tennis,
we're in different partnerships, different iterations of it,
and there's points on the board.
And the boys were looking at the whiteboard.
They're like salivating at trying to get three points on the table.
So I've kind of had them on the leash now.
And I said they're frustrated with the result,
but not the performance away at Forge.
And they know when we're back in front of our fans,
they want to entertain.
We're in the entertainment industry.
And, you know, you know, the way I like to play.
I like to play high energy football, attacking football, and the boys are in the same ilk.
They just can't wait to get going again.
Seventh year for the league, just some notes this season.
Your season opener was televised on TSN.
I believe you also have this Friday's game is going to be on TSN as well.
That's an exciting development for the league.
Does that move the needle at all for you?
I mean, obviously your coach, you're there getting paid to recruit players and win games,
but also you've got a stake in this league.
That's a, I think something you'd value a bunch,
getting this on regular cable.
Yeah, you and I talked about how do we get this onto the national networks
and how do we get the Canadian sports channels to back us and partner with us,
knowing that we're trying to grow the league here just before the World Cup.
We came into our start because we needed a domestic league for Canadians by Canadians,
but we weren't being promoted by Canadians.
But now we are.
And we had to last the course of time.
we're still growing but now as we're averaging you know four to five thousand
seats stadium although we snuck seven thousand in for the final we did okay but we
know we've got our we've got our core people you know you see them when i wave to the
crowd and boomer kisses do my salutes you see the same type of faces and you know that they feel
the same as you that this is an exciting club to be a part of it's the new eyeballs it's the you know
you go to the soccer center and you see the Paris San Juman or the A.C. Milan's or the Liverpool
Everton shirts that are around, those fans, we're happy to be your second team because it's the
next generation we've got to get it for. So by being on TSN, it's great that we are featured in it.
They obviously want, you know, that's an honor to be recognized as one of the top teams and a good
advert to have Spruce Meadows on it as well. So look, can we get those new eyeballs interested in the
league because it is a great league and there is a lot of talent here.
If people haven't been again, you talk about it, it's an incredibly unique sporting
atmosphere. It's unlike any other sporting experience in the city, dare I say, the country.
Spruce Meadows at Cofield, Friday 5pm, you guys against Vancouver FC.
Best of luck in your seventh season and good work on getting the Everton reference in.
Thank you.
