Barn Burner: Boomer & Pinder with Rhett Warrener - Are The Florida Panthers The BEST Team In The Atlantic?? | BB Clips

Starting point is 00:00:00 The Florida Panthers. The Florida Panthers. They're not young, but they are going to be healthier than they've been in a long time. And they are fresh off of three Stanley Cup finals in a row before last year that finally caught up to them with the mileage on the old chassis. Jacob Markstrom has brought in. Brady Kachuk had in trade. And they added two balls of muck in Radko Gudis, a former Panther and Garnet Hathaway, who would be a perfect Florida Panther. Departures, but Brobsky leaves in Free Agee.

Starting point is 00:00:33 Agency, excuse me, they move Mackie Samiskevich, Evan Rodriguez is gone, and Jasper Boquist out as well. I think that's a new saying. I think AG is the way to go. Free Agee. A little free agey ad there. I like that. It's like the chel.

Starting point is 00:00:46 I hate the chel, but. Free agey. I watched Bill Zito fishing on YouTube the other day. He did a hell of the job. Got some nice fish. Does he inspire confidence? Uh-huh. Uh-huh.

Starting point is 00:00:56 That's what he's doing, eh? I like the muck. I can't decide if it doesn't go well for Markstrom, is he going to put on his pouty face again, or is he going to play well? If it goes well, I think if he goes in there and it's playing well, this is great.

Starting point is 00:01:11 My biggest question of the team is exactly that. It's two new goaltenders and they did not inspire in their last stops. And again, maybe we're not the right city, fan base watcher watching Groot to talk about Markstrom. Oh, what are the Devils fans saying? We've been off Markstrom for a while. Yeah.

Starting point is 00:01:28 He went to New Jersey, and it didn't go well there. They got out of the Markstrom business. They didn't have to. Markstrom's supposed to be a difference maker, not just a stop gap, right? He's not supposed to be, in Florida,

Starting point is 00:01:40 it might be just make regular sales, but he was supposed to be elite, and he would have elite seasons, and then he'd be terrible. How many times did they score a first shot on that one year? That one year, like all the time. Then he would put on the pouty pants, and it was like, good God, man.

Starting point is 00:01:54 Oh, I can't talk about those. It's to do to distract. Yeah, holy Christ. He's 36. He's made. making six a year. The option was to pay more, probably for term. De Brovogovsky back. It's kind of like a fantasy draft. When you get to the end and you look back,

Starting point is 00:02:10 it's like, well, should I, would I have been better off here? Did I have other irons in the fire? I don't know. Both are coming up bad years based on their own standards. We, we throw flowers at the feet of Bill Zito for being a genius. Maybe he's a genius here. It's the one move I don't love. And it's the only time in his tenure as a GM, he's had to make goaltending decisions. He was inherited Bob for Dale Talon signing. It was a max term 70 or free agent deal of 10 of pop. They drafted Spencer night before he arrived.

Starting point is 00:02:37 That's pretty much who they've ran with for the bulk of Bill Zito's tenure. This is really his first foray into like, goaltender one action. Mark Strum and Marchand, the two things I don't like. I think Marshan is too long. It's not, I think it won't age. One of my favorite players, loved them, but I think they over,

Starting point is 00:02:55 extended on him. Mm-hmm. Yeah. And again, if people are forgetting, Matthew Ketrek did not play before Christmas. They didn't get a single game out of Barkoff. Bennett missed serious time. Barkoff's the favorite one, right?

Starting point is 00:03:08 But on and on, Marchand missed time. Landell missed time. Seth Jones missed time. Like, their core players all got hurt. Who's the guy that burnt his hand on the bar? Yes, that's right. Lister Ryan and barbecue accidents. Jack, careful.

Starting point is 00:03:24 You know how like Tiger Woods is getting pulled over? Why don't you have a driver? let's get a chef for Listerine Okay, get up for it. Yeah, Marcia. Get a grill master. Jack will be your grill master. Not to get into the weeds on it.

Starting point is 00:03:35 I still don't know how that deal is okayed by the league. He's 38. He's got five more years. Yeah, well, it isn't okay. If you can't LTA, like he is, that's a 35 plus contract. It'll be punitive if he can't play. Yeah.

Starting point is 00:03:48 It's, like you can't just bury it when it's a 35 plus. You can't retire. It can't even retire? Well, the capital stay. that's BS. Okay, well, I'm at the other side. 107.5 points is the projected total of Bet365.

Starting point is 00:04:03 They have $34,000 a cap space. They're up against it. You saw it coming last year. You had them as a non-playoff team. What do you see? Obviously, Brady makes a difference. I think Brady makes a difference. They'll be in the playoffs.

Starting point is 00:04:17 Once you get a playoffs, who knows. Again, Markstrom's got to stop the puck. That's the biggest question. The talent, the ability, the muck, savvy, the whatever you want to call it, they have it all. Yeah. They're fresh. They should be good to go.

Starting point is 00:04:31 Do they ever go away? I will say this, 107. and a half points reflects the talent level. They've never been a team that really needs to light it up in the regular season. They know when it matters. I might shade the under, but buy their futures for the cup, if you know what I mean. Yeah, they're a get in and then worry about it for sure. I mean, they were an eight seed one year when they wanted, I think.

Starting point is 00:04:48 It's crazy.
