Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? It's on your eyes.
Well, the host of this show always wears sunglasses.
Oh, is that a thing? I don't know.
Why is he wearing sunglasses? Does he think he's cool?
His eyes are very old.
Sensitive.
Sensitive to light.
Lippin' lazled. I'm not hung over, but I will be tomorrow. It is a Friday show.
It's why you have way more. T-shirt day. Good morning.
Rhett, there is a boomer today, but he will not be joining us in studio this morning.
I think we got some video from him.
We'll play later, which is great.
And a reminder, today's the big party day.
We're heading to Origin, the OC 943-28th Street, Northeast and Calgary, live stream this afternoon.
Join us, book some phony bologna sales meeting.
There's lots of meetings that need to be here.
Gosh, you know, boss, I'd really love to get on this all-hands meeting, but you know that
key client that we've got, apparently major.
strategy discussion session and they want us to be a part of it.
I called called this guy and he's excited to meet.
I can't. I've got two Zooms already and I've had to push one off.
I mean, it's a, it's a, Jack, you deal with this stuff all the time.
A lot of meetings this afternoon booked.
I mean, how many of meetings?
I don't know.
So come to origin and do your meetings there.
Yeah.
Can't wait.
Music, food, party.
High kicks.
Come to origin, bug boom.
Bug boom.
You know what it is?
I heard it's free hugs today from Boomer.
Boom's all in.
Yes.
Jack, is that right?
You normally charges.
Jeez.
I mean, people got to be excited about that, no?
I think the hugger's coming.
See, that's awesome.
Oh, that makes my day if the huger's there.
Red doesn't like hugs.
I don't know.
He's,
well, it finally happened.
The Calgary Flames lost in a hockey game,
not a three-on-three or a shootout thing,
but a real five-on-five hockey game.
So they didn't even get a point?
That is correct.
For the first time, all season, they didn't even get a point.
Why?
Well, I was going to ask you that.
They got outscored?
I mean, you played in the league.
Is that what it was?
Theoretically, you would have seen some of this game.
They were outscored 4 to 2 on this night.
Why didn't they get a point, Red?
They're not as fast, as good, or as ready as the Carolina Hurricanes.
Fast.
Good.
Ready?
Yeah, I didn't think.
think they had a very good first half. I think they probably had a nice little bit of pop out of the
gate and then it very quickly was Carolina's puck and we have a very tough time trying to get it
away from them. I guess you could say they started out well, but they didn't carry the play in the
whole for the, no. So. And I can't decide if that's just a another game and you can't always
dominate the game, not that they have the last couple, but if it's just a minor slip up or if a sign of
things to come. Well, it was interesting because post
game. And again, that's a good team. Sorry for.
It really good team. Yeah. And you had said they're not a contender
yesterday, tongue and cheek. This is a team that's
been in the final four a bunch. They're a home ice team
in the playoffs almost every year. They're
usually a favor to win their division. They play
for Rod the Bod and Rod the Bod
demands that fellows work and
move and they tend to do that.
Red Vines? Red the Bod.
I don't. Did you head down to the dome and give
him any licor? No. No.
Okay.
It's a Commodore.
Codry and Backlin, two members of this leadership group, two veterans and two centers in the NHL,
that they might only be there only two.
They spoke about if we play the way we did in the second half of that hockey game,
because they were, I thought their worst stretch was like the opening seven minutes of the second period.
They only had like two shots.
They allowed a couple early.
There was no pushback.
And then all of a sudden, the chances started piling up.
It's a two on one that Kuzmiko almost gets his stick.
on its glove by Gochettekov, Zeri's jamming at the side of the net, Pospasal hits a post, and finally
they get on the board. But the stretch before that was brutal. And post-game, Caddrian back to it,
if we play like we did the second half of the game, i.e. once we were down three-nothing,
getting it all the way back to pulling our goal and trying to tie it, we can beat anyone in
this league, we can hang with anyone in this league, whatever. I'm paraphrasing. The challenge being
when this game was in the balance and not a three-goal deficit, Carolina was a very-goal deficit,
Carolina was a vastly superior club.
And Dan Vladar might have been your best player.
It could have been four nothing, five nothing at that point.
My question.
Yes, Backland and Cadrear, right.
But you always say, isn't there a score effects?
There it is.
Was Carolina giving their best effort up 3-0, or do they start saying, okay.
This is starting to look easy.
28 minutes left.
All right, dump and chase, boys, short shifts.
Like, they're not grinding for an extra goal like you would.
If it's tie game, boys, tie.
Wow, and I'll be honest that they got it to three, two.
and I thought Carolina turned it up again.
Because they felt threatened a bit.
And look, I'm not here to contest what the players say.
The player's job is to believe in themselves and try to go win.
You know, the player's job isn't to mail it in and be like,
oh, we're in a rebelled.
Do we need a higher pick?
I'm not going to try.
That's not what players.
Your players show up and they work their hardest.
I don't have to try every day.
Yeah, that's not it at all.
And so, I mean, I guess it has been inspiring how they can come in waves.
and I thought their physicality got them back into this thing in a way.
And their work ethic tip tends to be better than the opponents on most nights early this year.
And I think that's goaltending and hard work.
It really has been why they're five one and one.
Wow.
And it's the only reason they might have a chance of staying in it.
They're not going to outskill to these teams.
Exactly.
Throughout the lineup.
Totally.
Like it's,
yeah,
the only thing that's,
you go to the goaltending,
you're probably not getting the checkmark.
Although the goalies have played very,
very, very well.
Yeah.
The defense as a whole.
You're a man off ball in the top four.
I don't know that many teams in the league do that.
I'm not giving them the check market.
Great seasons for Weger and Anderson.
Forward's really skilled and threatening.
They have guys, but I think they've got a lot of second and third lines.
It's going to have to be group, effort, work.
Well, the goal tend to continue to prove that they're capable.
These are opening statements.
I don't know if you realize that for our good pals, of course, at McLeod Law.
They have been partners with us since season one.
We can't thank him enough.
Peter Klein, as well as our other pal, Shane King over there.
We told you about Peter.
He, of course, disability insurance claims personal injury guy,
but Shane is a partner in the litigation and dispute resolution group.
Boy, that sounds easy.
We need the dispute resolution group over for Sunday night dinner.
Can you say that?
Dispute resolution.
So when my kids start chucking knuckles at with each other.
That's a dispute.
That's the guy.
And so if you need a resolution to that dispute,
if I can't resolve anything.
Resolve anything.
That's the one.
Shane specializes in areas like employee rights.
If you've been laid off or terminated, probably not easy.
And you could probably use some expertise.
Shane can review your situation, make sure you've been treated fairly.
And as the law requires, not like, hey, my feelings.
my feelings were hurt, but hey, legally they have to provide this, that, and the other.
Are those being met? Check in with Shane. He uses a practical approach in plain language,
not legal jargon, personal injury, community, any sort of legal issues you may be facing.
It's got to be our pals at McLeodlaw. Find them online and social media at McLeodlaw, LLC.
Cloud Law, good pals of the show. Looking forward to seeing them as the season progresses.
So opening thoughts will continue.
a controversial Wistel
in this game. Now,
I'm going to put Jack on the spot. I know we had it
last night for Afterburner.
And by the way, it's going to be a bit
of an abbreviated show today. We did a full
afterburner last night, Camia myself.
If you want the full analysis,
if you want 10 minutes on Peter
Kachekhov losing his helmet
and... Deep dive.
What's the... They call it a deep dive onto a
a certain topic? The Double D. The Deep dive.
Yeah, we did it last night.
And so there's
more there for if you like, but the controversial play, especially given that the flames didn't get a
quick whistle in Vancouver and it led to a goal, there was, there was some upset fans. It's not
same same, but I think.
Here it is. Weger, half assed in the puck. Here it is. There's the shot. Kachatka makes the
save. Anderson gives him a little of the business. Helmet comes off. Whistle is blown. Weeger,
half-assed fires it in the puck. Lots to digest.
here. Like last night, I'm going to go backwards. Weiger's feigning that he didn't hear the whistle.
Bull S.
100% bullshit. Watch him shoot the puck. If this is a chance to score a goal, would you ever shoot the puck like that?
No. So he's wind up and let it go full normal speed jack. He knows it's over. And then he's playing
bullshit and Huska is saying, I didn't hear the whistle. He said post game in his opinion. It was a quiet whistle.
Okay, guys. Corroborate your stories. That's fine. Yeah, you're better off. If he'd have ripped it,
I'd been like, he didn't hear the whistle. That's right. If you unload one, but
The thing is, is you might kill Peter Kachetkov if that happens.
Also, yeah.
Like, look at the goalie's head where his eyes are.
He is straight up at the lights.
That's like me at origin at 6 p.m. tonight.
He's splied out on his back looking at the seal.
I'll say this.
I think the Uyghur knew the whistle win.
I think the refs made a decent call.
Yeah.
I will, on the other hand, the only catch is there should be no quiet whistle
on a play like that.
Yeah, let a rote d'all on his ass with his helmet off.
everyone, all those whistles
should be screaming.
Now, I'm racking my brain for the,
it's imminent. That's the word. This is the key word.
Imminent. Because before.
You're all seeing this happen as a ref and
alignsmen. Of course. And we get the
benefit of replay and watching
it over and over. Fans were upset that this
was blown dead because in Vancouver game one of the year
a play was not and a goal
stood as Dan Bladar lost his helmet.
The difference being
that was an imminent chance.
So you have to blow it dead unless there's an
imminent scoring chance. Now, when you bobble
it in the slot and it gets sent to
the point, you're no longer in imminent
territory, in my opinion. I think
the refs got this one right. I'm trying to remember. Was he up?
Like, was he standing?
Or was he laying on his back?
He was not as vulnerable as
Kuchakov was, but more to the rulebook's
point. It was like, bang helmet off, finish
the shot. For good or for bad,
the refs have to have some room to
interpret what's happening.
I think they got to f it up.
but last I didn't think it is.
I do believe they got it right.
I really do.
I love you guys.
It's the best, especially minor hockey.
A little scare.
Are you as,
if Rets,
ret's been consistent about one thing,
he's a big fan of minor hockey.
I love you all.
Rules.
Yeah, he's,
refs.
They've done a great job.
Associations.
Volunteers,
except to get married.
The bureaucracy.
Idea guy.
He's been racking his brain.
Nothing he could think of could improve.
Let's not change this one.
All right.
Damble at R.
You all right?
No.
You hurt?
Yeah.
You're going to miss time?
A week to 10.
I'm going to take the under on that.
I have been sniffing around a little, but I think there's some optimism that he will be able to back up tomorrow.
That's missing time to me.
Well, I mean, they've been alternating starters.
It's true.
Okay.
I'll give them one game.
Yeah.
So will he be ready to go Tuesday?
I suppose the question.
And, wow.
Guess what they won't do.
Tell us?
Yeah.
give us the extent of the injury.
It's actually the Rosslovich shot, which I don't know how he stops.
I think it's the butt end of the stick, like is above his blocker on his goalie stick,
that he looks a little bit.
Oh, that's he feeling it a bit?
And then he has to go splits post to post on the wraparound attempt.
And that's the one where he's sitting there like, ooh.
It looked a little tweaky.
And then he has to skate to the bench twice for an extra attacker late.
and he was skating like a timidic.
He was doing the one leg push.
It was three-year-old on ice for the first time.
That's what it looked like.
He was not moving smoothly or fluidly.
And I think there's something there.
And if you want a free look at Devin Cooley,
who's been in the lights out in the American League
with the goals against under two and a 947 for the Wranglers,
you get a free look if you want.
Do we have a goaltender controversy?
I wouldn't say controversy, but you could take a look under the hood if you want.
You don't have to buy the car, but lift the hood, take a peek.
Colorado could use a good.
Lots of teams could use a goal.
None of them took Culeon waivers when they had the chance.
And so we'll see where things end up with Vladar.
Are we nervous?
Because I'm not.
He's played really well.
Again, he battles.
He makes saves.
You think he has no business making.
I'd like him not to be injured for a while.
I'd agree with that.
Yeah.
Seems to be a thing.
You get his one hip done in the summer.
You hope that he's a better goalie as a result of that procedure.
But it's funny because if I told you to close your eyes and think of a dandle at our game,
I bet you there's three or four great saves and there's still a three or four on the board.
Like it's just how it goes to them.
And you're like, oh, man, he was great.
At the end of the year, you're like, shit, he's an 895 goalie again.
Like, and whereas Wolf, it's like maybe his positioning has to be superior because
if they're similar, Vlodar is much larger and covers more, Nat.
So is that science?
Like if you're bigger, take up more?
I would think if you're playing the way you're supposed to, that would make sense.
Yeah, that.
Jarring.
No one's tried the Jab of the Hut strategy in that.
I still am waiting for some bold GM to give that a move.
Japanese sumo rest.
That's right.
Multi-sport athlete.
What?
And these guys can move.
Tell me they can't make some saves.
Quick twitch.
Holy.
You've been to Simwell?
No.
Do it.
I love it.
It's awesome.
Big fan.
Huge fan.
So we'll see what we'll have a little sneak peek tonight as to what's going on because the Wranglers play tonight.
If the Flames needed a coolly tomorrow, I don't know that they address him tonight.
Maybe that doesn't tell us much because he's going to back up Wolf anyway.
Yeah, I would play him.
Whatever.
So that that's sort of the two big talking points.
The goaltender, the contract.
controversial whistle. Carolina looks good, like really good.
Yep. They look like Carolina always looks.
And they get goaltending. It's never necessarily the sexiest names, but I would
not for nothing. It would be a fun team to play behind because you're going to know damn well
what they're doing. And we talk about their blue line, their blue line, their blue line, their blue line,
Slavin's the only guy left there. Everyone else has been brought in the last two years,
but it's still structure is the same. It's, it may as well be the same old blue line with Falk
and Pesci and Dougie Hamilton.
They're the Andy Reeds of the NHL.
Totally. It's a well-coached team.
The front office knows who to get to play
what parts. Totally.
What should we do here?
PIN report later.
What time do we have Darren Dregor?
10.30?
23 minutes.
23 minutes. We got some time for that.
I want to tell you about outdoor dental
because I've heard some vicious rumors.
Are you keeping people up in your house?
No, but that person that fell on the scooter
should have went.
Person that fell on the scooter.
Remember I told you about the team party?
Oh, yes.
Yeah.
Okay.
So you're at a team party.
People getting a little happy.
Abriated.
They were going to scooter home, caught on the doorbell cam, a massive wipeout.
Oh, dear.
Facial tissue injuries.
And just readjusted.
Outdoor dental could have helped out.
The face meal.
Outdoor dental.
If it was open, it would have been very helpful.
Yeah.
I don't know.
the hours are pretty normal, but 2 a.m. on a Saturday, not normal hours. Outdoor dental
is dentistry with no needles, no drills, no stress. They have a salaya laser, which is just this
incredible tool. It's a solution for people with dental phobia. Also, one or two minutes,
you'll feel relaxed, comfortable, pain free, back to your day. Snoring treatments available
as well. If you've got your face meat rearranged, maybe there's a little in there.
Two, 50-minute treatments, increased tension in the soft palate. That reduces snoring. It is a non-surge
and pain-free solution.
I've done it.
Two 15-minute sessions, no pain.
You're sitting back, looking up at the roof.
They got a little TV up there.
You're watching The Simpsons, National Geographic, some nature show, whatever.
15 minutes, you're out of there.
Snake show.
I'm back in a month.
You're done.
Watching snake videos and watch crocodiles cross the street.
Just hanging out.
You know how I roll.
Dental implant treatment can be scary, confusing, and expensive.
Outdoor dental uses cutting-edge dental technology to ensure you're happy, healthy,
and feel confident in your results.
They have like a 3D printer there.
They're like printing stuff for your mouth.
It's crazy.
They're like from the future.
Outdoor. Dot Dell. Check them out.
It's been a bit of a dry patch for the flames offensively.
Remember those first three games?
Six goals against Vancouver.
Oh my gosh.
Should you score?
Six goals against Philadelphia.
Oh, my gosh.
Four goals at Eminton.
That's averaging over five goals a game, rat.
Is that what that is?
Since then, right around two goals a game.
tough to win.
I don't think it's a two one league anymore.
Yeah, and if you are winning two one.
And I'm not sure it's even that.
Tip your cap to Dustin Wolf if you're going to win two one.
That's a harder league.
Get to three or four,
you got a better chance.
Better chance.
Yeah, for sure.
They've also been bleeding shots.
43 last night's Carolina,
38 to Pittsburgh,
Chicago got 32.
Seattle was a pretty low event game,
but I'm starting to worry about sort of the things that we're worried about
before the start.
Well,
I just don't really believe.
that unless they work way harder than the other team,
they're going to be able to outchance other teams.
And so maybe they can get better goal tening.
Like the whole thing about, well, maybe it's a year
that they're going to pick in the top 10.
You got, you know, the rebuilds on.
The one wrench in that is what you saw in 2004,
which is goalie changes everything.
Yes.
If Dustin Wolf wants to be one of the top five goals in the NHL,
all bets are off on this team having a pick in the top 10.
Yeah, if he has a 1.6 goals against that.
What was the...
We've got a lot of chances.
Kipper came in your first year,
169?
Something like that is dirty.
Yeah.
I don't think that's happening.
The problem,
problem.
They've lost one game.
They've played well.
The issue going into the season was for them to have success,
you're going to need.
Goaltending,
all the D are going to have to step up and play their best ever.
Yeah.
The forwards that didn't score last year are going to have to bounce back and start
scoring again.
Huber don't guys.
Zari's going to have to have another career year.
There were so many boxes.
that need to be checked.
Right.
And they did it for a few games.
Yeah, this is a great start.
You're 5-1-1-1.
You've got to see if you can,
you've got the best team in the league
coming in on Saturday night.
Go ahead and win that one.
And it wasn't as if this was a team that was like,
well, they all had down years last year.
They're due for regression.
Like Blake Coleman 30 goals.
Great year, right?
We saw that.
Same thing.
We've been career high in goals.
Anderson, room for improvement.
We've seen it this year.
He's much better this year.
But it's, you're not going to,
to line up one roster versus
the next on a game day and say, boy, the flames have
way more talent than this team. You cannot.
Very often this year. Zero chance.
Yeah, like maybe when you get a couple of these.
Yeah, and being a bit, you know,
bleak, but really, where
if you just took rosters
and lineups and put them up there
and it's, okay, we're going
from one to 32.
You're not in the top 20.
No. And to be fair,
why would they be? They were
ninth from the bottom last year, and they've,
liquidated players since midway and last year.
Like you delete the Hannafin, delete the Tannov, delete a Markstrom.
That's one thing I did pick up on last night was the penalty kill isn't as good.
And it's like, no, it's not surprising.
Some of the guys you lost.
Yeah.
I still think Coleman Backlender elite, but you're right.
And don't forget, Sharon Gulliver, which is a guy that can help there.
He's out.
But you're right.
Like, you miss Chris Hannave.
You just do.
Well, Hennif and Tanniff are pretty good at that.
Really good.
really good.
So we'll see how it goes.
I don't know if you have the schedule handy, Jack,
but it's all of a sudden there's only one game off
in this homestand.
They haven't got to win yet.
They, of course, have the loser point from Pittsburgh,
regulation loss last night.
And of all the teams that you'd want to face,
sorry, overtime winning points,
not overtime loser point.
My apologies.
Down one, the time.
Kirkland.
Got two.
Costco.
Do you see the Kirkland family last?
night.
We're the Kirkland
signature t-shirts.
I like that.
His girlfriends from the UK has no idea
what's going on, but it's been following them around
through all these HL, like
28, their wife, I guess.
It's pretty
incredible.
Yeah, so there they are. They have
two of a possible four points so far.
Excuse me. That's a tough lineup right there.
Well, I was going to say,
who talk about a gauntlet.
How's the jet season been going, right?
Real good.
Ryan.
They lost yet?
Not quite, but they tried to do it last night, but they somehow found away.
Yeah, they're up 3-1, needed overtime.
Eilers, off the bench with a delayed penalty on the way, laser 7 and 0 to the season, jump into the glass.
Vegas has been very good.
They extended Theodore, Shea, Theodore yesterday.
Seven years, 51 million, so a hair over seven.
Would you give that contract to Erasmus Anderson today?
I'd give that to Rasmus the summer.
There is a rest.
Start to the 7.0.09. Yep. Sign it. Yeah. Ross. Career flame. I ain't thinking
Rass is taking that deal. I didn't think Shay Theodore would be taking that deal either to be fair.
Where's he live? Yep. And how's the team been? Yep. And are you comfy? Do you like the guys? You think you're competitive?
Tax is good? Yep. Oh. Okay. There's a Canada tax. Sorry.
Well, taxes tax. I mean, New York State, not great. No. California. Not great. Canada.
and not great for taxes.
And then, yeah, you know,
Shane theater is Canadian boy,
but for some guys,
like, you're going to pay more to him to Canada,
for sure, no question.
I'm,
I'm,
I'm,
I'm,
let's,
let's be honest.
The team's won.
He's been great since he got there.
He was an expansion draft deal with Anon.
Why would you want to leave?
Why would he want to leave Vegas?
And so do you take a little bit less to be,
you're going to get 25 million more somewhere.
Okay, well,
I don't start to consider this,
but he's also had a little bit of injury stuff lately.
It's like,
let's just lock in something long.
term and safe.
Thank you, Mr.
Agent.
Here's a 3%.
That's a tough five they've got
coming though.
Vegas, Utah won't be easy
and that barn, I don't think.
Correct.
And then after that it was.
They come home for the devils and Markstrom.
And Edmonton.
Oilers on a Sunday night.
They play the oil.
There's only three times this year, Jack.
Two of them on Sunday nights.
That sucks.
Who's the schedule maker?
Gary.
Gary.
I have some lackey doing that.
It's Gary Baucan from Frontier.
Okay.
Ran the,
well, does you have an email address?
I'd like to yell at them.
It's a grocery store.
Okay.
So that's kind of what they're looking at.
And then after Edmonton, you know, those are the next five games.
Winnipeg, the two in the row, the two at home.
Then they're off to an eastern swing.
Montreal, Boston, Buffalo.
I've just, those next five teams are really good teams.
And as much fun as the first five games where I don't want.
want to see the opposite.
Yeah, and I don't think you will in the sense that even...
The problem is you could because those teams are good and you can play well and not win.
You could have play really well in a five one goal losses for sure.
You absolutely could.
It's just that they have, I'll give them credit and it's something of it's hoping we'd see
and thought we'd see this year.
They work.
They do not show up and not work.
I'm not under Huska.
But it's a skill deficit, right?
It's a skill deficit.
And the worry for me.
going to the year was a slow start
and it compiling because
you're like oh, free build year, we're never
winning, but you can work your ass off when you believe
there's a chance. There's a chance.
You lose a few in a row. You're like, okay.
All that, all that jam you had is.
20 points out in March.
Come on, guys, we're not dead yet. Like, it's just,
it rings a little hollow. It's called a professional work ethic,
not a genuine. Okay.
Yeah, and so we'll learn more.
I mean, look, it's no one had them at 5.1 and 1.
Could I have to test the Moxie?
It's going to be a test of their moxie.
Winnipeg Saturday.
Moxie off.
Wolfback in net 5 p.m. start.
That's the next action.
Speaking of the games, next Friday, Jersey here, we told you.
Yeah.

Local sports update.
Calvary FC on the road this weekend.
They are in the...
Need a big win.
It's the shortcut to the final.
It'll be Forge at Tim Horton's field.
Hosting Calvary winner will host the final.
So Cavs win.
We will have a final in November.
Get your tickets.
At Echo Field.
If Forge wins, they'll have a break till the final and they'll host it there.
Meanwhile, the four played the five.
Three, I play the four.
And the loser of this contest on Sunday will host the semi-fellgellors.
final with a birth in the final.
Here's a question.
Fire.
Soccer, like,
like some sports, you get momentum.
Mo.
Is it better to play regularly?
Or do you want that big break?
No, it's the 25th,
26, 27th?
I feel like it's only like a week away.
It's not that long.
So it's fine. That's what you want.
Okay, then win. Yeah, win. Just go ahead and win.
Go ahead and win, fellas. Come home. Tommy.
Well, I mean, I mean, I don't,
I'd feel bad for them to try to have a parade in Hamilton.
Just have a parade here.
That's easier.
Celebrate here?
You already know all the friends are here.
Let's go Forge.
That's a Sunday contest, I believe.
Caves at Forge, watch parties at Kildare's, Elephant and Castle,
ship and anchor.
Good muscles.
You're talking about.
Kildarez.
Are they talking about Marco Gruducci?
Because I know you're saying.
No, that would be the shoveler.
Shoveler.
Big fan.
Big fan.
So those are the three pubs.
If you want to watch, Caz, let me just get you the start time here.
I had this written down and I can't find it.
I've got a whole thing of.
Beepop boop.
I know, I know.
Just settle down.
Skip for now.
Well, I'll give you a little pop quiz.
Is the Stan Peter season over or do they play this weekend?
Do they actually play?
I thought I said, it's a quiz.
It's a quiz.
I think they play because I thought I saw something pop up on my phone saying they play.
And I'm like, aren't they done?
And God, they wish they were if they're not.
it's back to Jake Meyer.
Yes, it is.
Season finale, I hope, in Saskatchewan
against the Durs.
Do the Durs need a win?
Or is that going to all set?
You didn't do as much digging?
Well, I got it right here.
That's all right.
Okay, so in the West, you got the Blue Bombers at 20 points.
Ders are one point ahead of the Lions.
Lions are nine and nine.
Ders are nine, seven, and one.
So the lions are done.
Saskatchewan is a game in hand.
That's what they're playing.
So I think potentially they could pass Winnipeg for home field.
Yes.
So you need Winnipeg to lose.
And Winnipeg is playing in Montreal.
Montreal has been strong out east.
They're leading the entire CFL.
Yeah, they need a win.
Get a win.
Come on, Durs.
If you're a Ders fan, which is not.
And it's two o'clock start Sunday for Calorie and Forge.
If you needed it, it's a Saturday Stamps Ders game in Regina.
drive over there.
5 o'clock.
It's a short little drive to see the Durs.
Anyway.
Is your kid playing in Saskatchewan?
Yep.
Why don't you go see the Ders and go him?
Big road trip.
Why not?
Let's go.
Let's do a Pinder Report.
We'll do that before we get to
Darren Dregor, our NHL Insider on a Friday.
Pinda Report, of course, brought to you by our good friends
at Village Honda Day Winters, our pals in the Northwest
Auto Mall and online at VillageHonda.com.
of course your dealership for life.
They've got a new 28-month flex lease.
Give that a spin, CRVs, HRVs, and civics.
Also, of course, new in stock inventory on the ground
where new vehicle pricing is MSRP.
And of course, access to over 500 pre-owned vehicles
in the dealer group, villageonda.com in the Northwest Autoball.
Check them out.
Dealership for life.
What you usually, you used to do the full.
For life?
So what happens when the school teacher's gone and you get the substitute teacher that comes into the class?
Oh, I remember one time.
It's not good back at Silverwood Heights School.
Silverwood Heights.
So the regular teacher's gone.
Yeah, Miss Nadine.
And then all of a sudden.
I don't know.
This duster came in and it had happened before in life because substitute teachers happened, but this one took her right on the chin.
And so when the cats away, the mice will play.
the inmates running the asylum.
There's all kinds of mayhem.
So who's not here today?
Jack, is anyone missing?
Attendance.
Rhett, are you here?
Dinner.
Present?
Pinder, present.
Jack, you're here?
Boom.
Boomer?
All right.
Let's get to some dumb shit.
Screw the sports.
Here we go.
Look at the size of this gator,
Red.
Ooh.
Moving.
Hey.
It doesn't look that big from the same.
Go on,
go on, mate.
Go on.
Go on.
Oh.
Come on.
Get it.
Good boy.
Good boy.
Oh, yeah.
Good.
Yeah.
That's a big.
I don't know if that's my approach.
Like if I was out in the woods here, that's kind of like a bear.
I don't know that I'm shooing a bear away.
Well, I do have faith in your ability to outrun that thing, Red.
I don't know.
I heard they're quick.
I think it's a quick couple steps.
Kind of like offensive linemen.
Like for 20 meters.
Bye bang.
And they tail off real quick.
Big fella.
Another big fellow here. Let's check it out.
I believe this is
when you fly south for a vacation.
Life does not.
Oh, my God.
That is a girthy fellow right there.
You're heading back to your villa after dinner
and you see a big snake passing by.
Yeah, just get right back on the,
right to the airport place.
Oh, dear.
Look at the size of this guy.
I don't like this.
Whoie.
that is
disappear your children

Oh, no.
It's the problem with the quad.
If it lands on your, it's great.
Oh, jeez.
No, I think you've got injuries there.
I do like that you're wearing a helmet.
That's a good part, but everything not named your skull.
You landed on your helmet.
That was something.
Tough shit.
Yes.
Hey, booms away.
Come on.
Oh, thank you.
You're down.
Now, the shoveler, is she out of fun of a ladies, a gal's weekend?
Oh, because I saw this video and I thought this was my wife.
So they're heading to the airport.
They got the cooler.
I don't know what it is.
They're at the mall.
Maybe they're already there, but this video just arrived in my inbox.
I don't know.
This is.
Oh, dear.
You're already.
Oh.
I love the end of that.
It just keeps getting a little.
Oh, no.
Face down in the muck.
And there we got.
I'm not even trying to get out this like.
Yeah.
Good for them.
Enjoy life,
a little.
Enjoy your trip,
ladies.
Good luck.
And you know what?
I don't know how you get that cooler on the plane.
Yeah,
they must have already landed.
Yeah.
So you get to the hotel and then immediately you go to the mall to load up.
That's the thing.
You wouldn't be trying to carry a cooler.
They got to be in the States because you can buy beer anywhere.
Totally.
Although those ladies,
probably some sort of a mixed beverage.
Yeah,
you're right.
Yeah.
Yeah.

D.I.
I thought there'd be some sort of quackery pseudoscience where it's the water scale.
I'd be fishing for an earlobal.
Supplement.
Throwing my lure right at them.
It's essential fatty acids and the fish that run off.
Maybe that's good for them.
It's got to be.
It's got anything else.
And I think we had one more, Jack.
Two more. What do we got?
Two more.
We got the Tony Amonte and then.
Oh, God.
Okay. Tony.
Let's go back down memory lane.
Tony tone.
Love tone forever flying.
Let's go.
Really good.
What's up, tell you.

I don't know.
I'm not talking to you.
Fuck off.
Jeez.

Anyway,
I know you're feeling
cheapish about swearing,
so I want you to feel better.
A lot of people swear.
I'm glad he was man.
He was bad when they put me on the ice.
Now give us the context of that again.
Is this the OT winner?
You've got in trouble.
What?
You missed.
We'll put it back up.
Somebody's upset.
Oh,
Dex,
we have like the explicit thing on there.
Like it.
Come on,
Jack.
You know what,
Dex?
Yeah,
he must be,
he must be out of us.
Yeah,
Dex,
you knew here.
What the hell's going on,

Absolutely not supposed to be.
That sarcasm.
Shut it,
Dex.
Yeah,
the comments.
Get them,

Get them boys.
And finally,
I think we got boom on the line.
Well,
wait,
we got drag here.
Oh,
we got drugs right now.
Yeah. Okay. Well, Dregs can hang for this real quick because Boomer is not in studio.
You can pull up Darren if you want. We'll get the Crystal Waters read it in a moment.
But Boom is joining us live. He's late today. He's going to meet us at this watch, this little live stream we're doing later.
And I think he's busy at breakfast. Here's, sorry, Rhett and I are here. Dean at breakfast.
He's joining us now. Let's go. Dino, what's up?
I love Nutella.
Mattela.
Oh, my God.
Oh, oh.
Dean.
I am in the gentleman.
I am eight.
Dean, you got to get an orchard in like two hours.
All right.
That's enough.
Cut his cameras, Jack.
I'm sorry.
That's your Pinned Report on a Friday.
Brought to you by Village Honda and the Northwest Automol and Online at village honda.
Let's get to our insider hotline.
We do that for Crystal Waters Plumbing Company.

It is Darren Dregor of TSN, Ray and Dreg's podcast.
Sorry about Dean there.
I don't know that.
So, yeah, no, so I'm watching all of that.
It's impossible not to laugh.
What?
But then I'm sitting and I'm like, okay, I don't know what I'm actually watching or if I should be laughing at it.
And by laughing at this good, he's getting in trouble.
No.
Well, I mean, maybe there's some anti-Nutella people out there.
That's probably true.
You know.
So I apologize to all those anti-Newella people.
You only come on Fridays.
And that's typically when we get a little goofier.
I'm always running a Hawaiian shirt.
I really do wonder what you think about the show sometime.
I actually, I mean, I haven't, with apologies,
I haven't been watching me at this point.
So when you said, Boomer is joining us on the phone.
I actually, I thought he was joining us on the show.
Well, he was.
Now he's got to clean his car,
and then he's going to meet us up at the brewery.
We're doing a live stream at noon.
He's a teleman.
No.
I was wondering we did at home.
And in the next hour or after hours,
he invites like 14 dogs into the vehicle to lick the Ntelehoff.
That's after hours.
All right, Darren, it's a great chat with you.
And we'll chat next week.
Crystal Waters, ladies gentlemen.
How have you been?
And what's lighting up your phone these days, Dregs?
We're kind of into that.
Some teams are around 10% of the way in.
It's not a lot, but it ain't nothing anymore.
We've got, you know, one out of 10 is gone now.
So you guys will find this amusing.
but I got a call this morning from one of the people I deal fairly closely with around the Edmonton Oilers
who are kind of cheering for the Boston Bruins tomorrow night because the Maple Leafs are in this sudden funk, right?
They get slapped around by Columbus and they get beat last night by the St. Louis Blues in Toronto.
So that's taking some heat off, some Canadian heat off oil country.
Not feeling it internally in Edmonton, but at least the national focus isn't.
fixated on what the Oilers aren't doing.
Now it shifted here to the center of the universe in Toronto.
Yeah, okay.
So let's go there.
Skinner has had slower starts.
The team's had slower starts.
Last year is a perfect example.
I don't think you want to count on a 17-game winning streak to bail out every year.
Clearly, we get that.
But there are some troubling things that are more than just in a slow start.
Like we understand they're going to score more.
They're not going to have a bottom 10 power play.
They are going to get better goal-tending.
Those things are all going to change.
But they're still missing a top-fifference.
defensemen. Victor Arvinson's shot rate is way down and has looked rather ineffective.
And for a group that got rid of three or their younger players that were getting better,
all of a sudden, most of this team is guys in their 30s that you'd expect diminishing returns
because they're in their 30s. How much concern about the augmentation of the roster is there?
Well, there's got to be concern. And Stan Mulman, you know, tried to dismiss some of that earlier.
And we're talking three, four games ago.
So not that long, though, by saying, look, you know, it's not on our 4-560.
It's actually on our top players.
They're not performing.
And I think that that still holds true.
But I also know that Bowman is making calls.
So different than Ken Hughes, Barry Trots, all the underperforming general managers are definitely scouring the market.
By virtue of what they do, that's exactly what they're doing.
But, you know, people are thrown life.
they're thrown anchors, not life preservers right now.
And the truth is, like every other club in the league, even teams that are doing well,
like Calgary and Winnipeg is blistering right now.
But they're also trying to figure out what they have.
So there's a heightened level of urgency with the teams that aren't getting it done.
But when you drill down on Edmonton, I do think that they're going to have to address that
blue line.
You know, aside from the obvious fact, the one thing about the Oilers blue line now,
that seems to be exposed is it's undersized, you know, like they don't, they're going to have to add
something with some significance back there. And that's problematic. I agree with you in your
assessment of Arbetson. And that surprises the two things, two guys that stand out for me up front.
Fact, Zach, Tynman doesn't have any points or goals at this stage. It blows my mind.
I mean, you're talking about a 50 plus goal score here. He still seems to be trying to do all
the right things. So is it puck luck? What is it? You know, but it does feel like that'll level off.
I thought Victor Arbitson was going to be a great fit in Edmonton. I thought he'd slide in that top six.
He's a line driver and energy guy and it just hasn't worked there. So you can mind all that,
you know, shoddy defense, ineffective defense, goal-tending that's inconsistent and, you know,
offense that has to be driven by the top guys and not everybody's hands on yet. And that puts
the lawyers in the place that they're in right now.
What happened to Toronto last night? Because they
got beaten the second half of a back-to-back,
but it was after a victory. They had, I
thought, a pretty decent start not
long ago, but while
Thursday night football in the game we were watching,
and the post-game show we did was happening,
apparently William Nealander
and Austin Matthews didn't win over many
doubters last night.
Well, you know what? It's the old Jacqueline Hyde
that has plagued the Toronto Maple Leafs
for a number of years. And
I like the way that Craig Barubei
coaches and and I do think that they're going to find it.
It looked like they had it up until two games ago.
And, you know, look, we do the regional games for the Maple Leafs and we did a pregame show
on Tuesday going into that Columbus game that now in hindsight, I mean, I'm going to lose sleep
over that pregame show.
Really?
Because we sang Kumba Yaw for 30 minutes.
I mean, you're sure?
Yeah, this team is great.
You look at this.
You know, they're playing the right way.
They're in on the forecheck.
Austin Matthews is the captain.
and wants to play this level of physicality,
and everybody's following them,
their goaltending is in check,
all of these great things.
And then it didn't happen in Columbus.
To a man, they didn't show up.
And so the takeaway for me from that game,
last night aside, was,
so they humbled the Tampa Bay Lightning.
They chased Andre Vasselowski from the net on Monday in the second period.
And they looked really, really good.
So Tampa Bay comes out of that game.
they didn't play well against the Leafs, probably a bit embarrassed.
They go into New Jersey on Tuesday, a real good New Jersey Devils team, and they beat them.
They just said, you know, good teams do that.
That's what good teams do.
And Toronto instead lays an egg in Columbus.
Like that, you know, and when you look at the end of the year, fellas, you know, a game like this in October may not mean a whole heck of a lot against Columbus and then last night against St. Louis.
How do you win divisions?
How does Tampa Bay and Florida challenge for that top spot in the division?
They don't piss away the games in October that you're going to need to have in April.
And I think that's going to be the upselling the challenge for Craig Barubing.
And I like the way he approached it last night again.
I don't know closely you guys watch.
Austin Matthews has developed into a pretty good defensive center.
He is.
He's pretty solid.
He was awful last night.
You know, he and TANF had a miscommunication on a podcast.
power on the penalty kill.
That leads to a power play goal, Dylan Holloway.
Former Hoyler was all alone in front.
He scores.
And then the Texie A goal to make a 3-1 after Toronto had breathed a little bit of life into their game.
Oliver Ekman-Larsons scores.
Again, Matthews just comes unglued in the corner, loses his battle.
And now it's a two-gold gap again.
And then you see Craig Barubei on the bench giving it to Matthews.
And that matters, right?
That stuff matters.
You got to hold everybody accountable.
You can't, you know, sit Timothy Lilleber and in favor of Connor Timmons or whatever.
So this is coaching 101, but these guys are either going to get it or the tough love is going to continue on a shift-by-shift basis.
One of the games I caught last night was earlier was Dallas and Boston.
Excuse me.
That broadcast.
The Bruins guys, there's concern.
The underlying numbers aren't great.
Swateman's been very good.
They're getting out chance a ton.
and I think we've sort of fallen into this.
Oh, the Bruins are always good.
We've counted them out before.
Of course, it'll be good.
But it's not been a good start.
I believe they're the most penalized team in the league.
The Toronto plays Adorova on the top pair.
He had a minor in seven straight games to start the year.
Like, where are they at?
Yeah.
So Dorov hasn't looked good in Boston.
Let's just be honest.
And I think we're seeing, and look, you know, again,
we always preface everything at this stage of the regular season.
It's early.
He'll find his way and he's far from alone.
But going into the year,
I looked at what Don Sweeney did and the overall look of that Bruins defense,
and I thought they were going to be formidable,
maybe arguably the best in the league.
I mean, we talked about the size that the Oilers are hoping to add on defense.
Well, Boston has that and then some.
Then you go back to earlier in the week,
and you had the exchange with Jim Montgomery and Brad Marchand on the bench.
Yesterday, Marchand comes out, which I love, by the way.
Veteran guy's been there and done that, and he's like, come on, people.
like really we're grown men here.
You know, why are we going to make a big deal of this?
You know, he held himself accountable and just dismissed that there was any issue there.
Okay, that's fine too.
And, you know, Marchand hasn't been good this year.
Their top guys haven't been great.
This guy's had three surgeries in the offseason.
You know, he's an older player so we can appreciate it.
It's going to take a little bit to get him going again.
So they go up against the Dallas Stars and you nailed it, man.
Like, they came undisciplined.
And how about the start?
You know, the 20-year-old Matt Potter makes a great play on the forecheck.
Gets a puck out front to David Pasterner.
It's in the net.
They've got the start.
They want it and won nothing.
And then Dallas ties it up and all hell breaks loose.
They just, there's a string of penalties, three consecutive power play goals by the Dallas stars.
And we're all going on what is going on in Boston.
And so here's where I got a little.
This I'll bring you into my world this morning.
Okay.
right so i learned this morning that a scheduled practice not on social media you know one of my
people there says hey we just had our practice pushback well i don't know i'm like okay hold on a
moment here what you know so okay is jim montgomery is the final year of his deal there's no
way they've gonged this guy you know they're not 10 games in but again that's a volatile group
in boston it's believable um but i think what's happened now and i don't know if it's
It's been firmed up on social media.
Correct me if I'm wrong here.
I think the coaches went out on the ice and the players held a player's only meeting.
Which is never a good thing.
No, I don't know.
Like, take us into that.
Things are going right is what it is.
Take us into that world for a moment.
I, you know, Red, I'm sure you're in a dozen of them or more over your, your, is that the
captains, the leaders calling that and starting to point the finger or is it an open forum for
everybody to have the mic?
Usually it's an open forum.
The leaders will call it and say, we've got to get.
on the same page here.
Why aren't we playing better?
The problem is I don't,
has it happened?
Sure is my memory,
right?
No,
but I don't recall many early season team meetings
where the team rebounds and actually does.
Usually when you see that,
it doesn't mean the team won't make the playoffs.
It just is an indicator of something's not right there.
Yeah.
There's something's missing.
And it's better to do it than not,
but it's best not to have to do it mostly
because usually it's a sign that something's wrong
and I don't know.
There's meetings that pull the team together
and you get going better,
but it doesn't, I don't know,
it never seems to make as big a difference as you hope.
I would say it's not necessarily correlated
to getting things back and going right,
but it's always correlated to when things have gone wrong.
So if you're having one, you're in the shit.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I mean, it's a hot,
spot now for all the the the wrong reasons right and and maybe Nashville feels a little bit like that
they got that one at least yeah yeah but and look I mean both general managers tried to be aggressive
certainly very grots was aggressive like you said last week Brett maybe a little you know too much too soon
but in in in Boston all of the the areas of concern I think that don sweeney addressed you know
they needed more experience in center ice they bring in linome you know they've got tyner johnson
who's just twisting in the wind there he's not even in the lineup right they just they can't afford to
have him in the lineup so he's being patient they need him to be patient but in the meantime
we know that ownership group we know hands on camille is i think patience is wearing 10
i'm just sorry i don't want to braid on a coach this early on in the year and a really good coach
but I thought I remembered over the last couple years
where Campbell on the bench during the playoffs
basically flipped his lit,
which is not always the end of the world,
except I thought the reaction from the guys was like,
oh God.
In Boston?
So, uh, yeah,
Jim Montgomery.
Oh, sorry, yes.
Yeah, yeah.
And because Bruce Cassidy before was that.
And then Jim was supposed to be,
ah, this is the easy going, everyone loves him guy,
but he's already yelling at his guys.
I mean, it's just all of it points to friction, I guess.
Yeah, I mean, it does.
but I'm not also calling out Brad Marchand for explaining it the way he did.
I mean, there's a real well-seasoned, you know, NHL player has been there, done that,
he's seen it all.
He just doesn't want to make it a bigger deal than it was.
He felt like he made a bad play.
He was held accountable.
Everybody move on.
The problem is they didn't move on as a group.
They find a way to stay in that game, you know, against Dallas.
We're probably not even having this conversation.
So I did they squeak out a point or a better yet a,
a win. That Dallas team is loaded for bear, as we know. But now they're must watch. And I mean,
tomorrow, you know, they play the Leafs. They host Leifes in Boston. I mean, it's a can't lose
environment for a hockey insider because there's always something juicy in that always, man.
Boston loses on home ice to the Leafs, well, then that's a developing story. If Toronto loses
their third straight and they get manhandled by the grumpy Bruins, well, that's a,
a big story in the big smoke.
So, yeah, it's must watch TV.
It's funny how it works.
Anytime the Leafs seem to be at some inflection point or at a pivotal moment or pressure is the highest.
Oh, it's Boston.
Seems to be.
For whatever reason, Boston's always there at these crucial moments.
No players only meetings.
Maybe I missed it.
And I haven't seen the coaching all the players in Winnipeg.
So that must have been.
Okay.
Yeah.
I actually did see Scott Arneal.
Was it the Pittsburgh game?
I can't remember three or four games ago where he didn't lose it per se,
but he started to give it to the boys on the bench.
And at the time,
I think it was because that was the comeback game, right?
I think Pittsburgh jumped out to the two nothing lead and then Winnipeg clawed back.
So they're an interesting study.
I mean, they're not as good as their record indicates.
I mean, come on.
You can't be undefeated.
Yeah, I mean, but they're good.
They're good.
And what makes them dangerous, aside from the obvious, and that's, you know,
Besna winning goaltender, we've talked about Helibook many, many times.
But there's a connection with everybody there top to bottom.
You know, they've really gelled and come together as a team.
You know, it would have been easy to present the storylines going into the season.
You know, you look up the middle of the ice and you see some great things in Shifley,
and you see Adam Lowry as, I don't know, second, third line center.
It depends how we've maxed.
is up game in and game out.
But then, you know,
Namestka jumps off the sheet and you're like,
okay, if he's your number two, is that
another area? You know, is shoveling up
going to have to go out and find another Sean Monaghan,
something like that. And to be fair,
he didn't really help much in that series. They got stomped.
No. Colorado.
It didn't touch the puck. Yeah. Colorado was certainly
speed limits up here and that's not really Sean Monaghan's
game. And honestly, guys,
that's what Nags, Winnipeg, and that's what's
going to hold them back for
maybe the rest of the regular season. Is that
series. You know, it's, it's great to be this good out of the gate. And everybody can say that
doesn't matter who you are. I mean, you're going to run into lightning in a bottle in any seven
game series and, you know, some real good teams get dispatched early. But Winnipeg can't be that.
So we'll see how it plays out. But, you know, all of the negative storylines and the wrinkles
have kind of been ironed out. Like even Cole for Fetti, right? Like there was a bit of a,
there was some animosity there
and that negotiation was a bit more trying
and probably both sides were hoping.
Cole misses a chunk of training camp and whatnot
and then he comes in and he's been a point producer
he's been very, very good.
So is it sustainable?
That's the question that you have to ask
with the Winnipeg Jets.
What do you see and hearing out of Vancouver,
Elias Patterson off to a really slow start offensively?
And in fact, when you look back to him signing that extension,
I mean, last year down the stretch,
it was a big storyline,
his absence in the, you know, point column in the playoffs is well documented.
I mean, it's a really rough go here for a guy that doesn't look like a hundred point
player anymore.
And I think we all thought he'd be that when he signed this extension, a huge money.
Yeah, I mean, I was in the camp of, at least to having the conversation preseason about
him being in the possibility of a heart candidate.
You know, I really felt like this guy was going to seize opportunity here, park all the
nonsense from last year, feeling good, health-wise, mentally focused, all of those things.
And it just, that hasn't been the case.
I mean, he hasn't been good enough in the majority of games the Vancouver Canucks
have played.
And I didn't see it.
I just read about it, the exchange that he had with J.T. Miller.
And I read Ray Ferraros.
Well, yeah, was it Farhand Lology or somebody making a bigger deal out of the exchange at
J.T. Miller and Patterson had in a practice.
And Patterson kind of gave him the business, like grow up or whatever he told him to do.
And Ray just came in with the hammer and just said, oh, and that never happens in football.
I mean, there's clearly hard feelings around the Vancouver Canucks because they're not playing as consistently as, you know, how they know they need to play.
But, you know, they'll get Dakota Joshua back.
And is he going to be a game changer?
No, Demko, 100%.
If they can get him back in the mix of the next couple of weeks,
that is a game-changing ad.
But the coaching staff they have in Vancouver is the right staff
to juggle all of those personalities.
But to go back to Pedersen, I mean, that's on him.
He's got to figure it out plain and simple.
You know, he can't be coddled.
He's not going to be coddled by anyone there.
And at the end of the day, I can tell you who's not worried about his contract.
and that's Rick talk.
It doesn't give a rats.
You know what.
Who makes what inside that room?
So Pedersen is going to demand the ice that he's given.
He's going to have to earn it.
Otherwise, that's going to change.
What's the trade buzz like right now?
Quiet.
Is there always little murmurs?
There's a rumor season where you're saying,
okay, everyone's going to wait to the deadline anyway.
Where are people lining up and gathering information?
Yeah, just as you'd expect, man.
You know, you're lucky at the teams that haven't done well.
You know, Barry Trotz didn't think that he'd be scouring
the earth looking for help, you know, especially at Santa Rice, but here he is.
You know, Edmondson for sure making some calls, nothing front burner. Likewise, of Ken Hughes and the
Montreal Canadians and, you know, dip down further down the list from there. Montreal, we haven't
talked about. That one's curious to me too because, you know, that market can get hostile in a hurry,
like any other Canadian market, but, you know, you can only preach patients so long. Right. And then enough
is enough. And that's where the Montreal
Canadian's fan base is. They didn't
think that they were going to be a playoff
contending team, but they
didn't think they were going to be this either.
And you know what? Yeah, they've
endured some tough times. You lose
line eight rate out of the gate, but they didn't
have Patrick Lione last year when the fan
base expected this team
to be better just naturally, right?
Kirby Doc is healthy. Hasn't been effective.
You know, Nick Suzuki,
hit or miss. I mean, Cawfield,
is their most consistent offensive performer,
but they need way more than what they're getting up front.
I mean, you can say that across the board.
Sam Montaubon in his first game.
I mean, Pierre LeBrun did an insider trading segment
talking about this guy being in the crosshairs of Canadian management
for the four nations position and goal.
Well, maybe, maybe, but they need to see a lot more from him
and the goaltending of the Montreal Canadians in general.
So Kent used as a GM that I think is out there.
He's just trolling.
You know, I don't know what he's got on the line for bait.
He's trolling hoping he catches something.
But we'll see.
Like I did something on Dante Fabro.
And, you know, he'd be a curious target for me out of Nashville.
You know, only because he's the right shot team.
And he's got some experience.
And he's reading that kind of wheelhouse, right?
26 years old, expiring contract in the year at 2.5 million.
The thing that he lacks is size, right?
86 feet, you know, I don't know what he is, whatever his weight is, but he's a dependable
defenseman. So there are nights where he can pair with Roman Yossi and play 18 minutes, but then
there are nights where he's in the press box because he just seems like a misfit. But, you know,
for some of these teams that need some help, like Utah, I don't think he would help Edmonton
too much because he doesn't bring a level of size. But that's the type of player that Barry Trotz
is willing to package to try and get something perhaps bigger.
to facilitate and eat it in the middle.
Drags love it as always.
We've got a busy day.
I'm sure you do as well.
We've got a business meeting.
Is it with Nutella?
You guys have bought stock?
I mean, Dean's got to go to the car wash, hose himself off and then the inside of his vehicle.
And then we're meeting at Origin Brewery who brew our barn burner blonde beer.
Oh, good for you.
Absolutely hit here in Calgary.
So it's a business meeting.
It's working late on a Friday, but we'll do.
We have to do.
We're committed for you, fellas.
I wish I was there.
One of these times, I've got to make that Western Canadian trip.
We'll do this live and in person.
Make sure you wait until like January when it's minus 35.
Get the full effect.
Sounds good.
Yeah, right on.
Thanks, Dreggis.
Have you guys.
Have every weekend.
See ya.

Get out there.
So, yeah, Rhett.
A little tardy.
Your maintenance is a little behind.
I'm going to need the sun to stay out because something's not working in the house.
Really?
Okay.
There are a million things.
You know, we get hyper focused on the local team, as we should.
Yeah.
But there are a lot of, like, the Nashville.
That was, we really only touched, like, a lot of Canadian teams and, and big markets where
There's just the magnifying glasses on, like Vancouver, check, Toronto check, Montreal check.
What a big zone defeated.
We say hi, Boston's getting a little tense.
It's going to be hot.
And Nashville, yeah, like, that's not the start.
You know, Nashville, like, there, yes.
Dallas looked really good last night.
Now, every team looks good when you score in the opening 15 seconds of a powerplay
and then you add two more power play markers in like the next five minutes, but still,
I said it before and I'm, you know me.
I never missed a chance to dunk on the Oilers.
but when you look at those two rosters that played in the Western Conference final,
the Oilers got significantly older and they lost three players under 25 that played significant minutes in that series.
I expect Stancovin to be better.
I expect Robertson has another year under his belt for good hints.
I mean, on and on it goes, these young guys.
Yeah, they've got a couple of great beards there.
But the difference for me, if you stack those two rosters together,
there's going to be Dallas stars better than last year just because they're heading into their prime.
there's no one on the Oilers roster
heading into their prime.
It's guys declining in their 30s
or just the superstars,
Bouchard, Skinner, everyone else is old.
Wow, it's playing out kind of the way
we wondered about the moves they made.
And now, you know.
Like Victor Arvinson, oh my gosh, what's happened?
Well, he's in his 30s guys.
What do we expect?
You thought you were getting 27-year-old Vic Arvinson?
Like, he's not going to be as bad as he's looked,
but you really have to expect
if someone's 30, 31, 31, 32, 33.
The place to do it was on defense.
And you didn't address it.
You got worse.
Yeah.
No, I agree.
Josh Brown, three years.
Enjoy Bakersfield.
What the hell was that?
What are you doing?
Like a 6-7 on the Arizona Coyotes didn't help your second pair.
What?
How could we see this coming?
I'll turn the hat around so you know what we're up to today.
I like this guy here.
This is like, I don't know, the young viewers won't remember this.
This is like when you went to the TV.
TV with the knob twist and you got to a channel that was just there's no channel just fuzz
that's it that's an analogy my children your children will never never know never understand
the twist TV I should buy one there's got to be so there's lots of merch up there again the

hearing loss clinic yeah they did all the work
yeah took the credit for sure locally owned and operated
it's not about hearing loss or hearing impairment
It's about empowering everyone to be able to be more socially active or connected with loved ones.
And, of course, be confident in all aspects of life.
My dad lost his hearing in his 30s.
I know.
Dude, no conversations.
Stand in the room.
Just like, he yelled at me.
I was at his house and he said, stop trying to talk in my ear.
I'll read your lips.
Yeah.
How fun is that?
I might catch every third word.
I do my best here.
And so maybe you think you've got an issue.
Maybe you don't know.
Maybe you're curious.
by all means, go get your hearing tested.
Hearing issues can be especially challenging for kids,
all ages, it doesn't discriminate.
Studies show that untreated hearing loss
is linked to things like dementia, depression.
Go get a checked.
Can't hurt.
In fact, if you get the clean bill of health,
well, your hearing is great.
Boy, it's a weight lifting.
Straight around.

I'm going to take up...
You work with a sock.
Banding.
Custom ear protection, musician molds,
in ear stage monitors.
So I don't have to wear these.
Yeah, you can get off the
beats by Snoop Dog there, whatever.
Yeah.
Okay.
Thank you.
the hearing loss clinic and make sure to check out their social streams lots of good stuff in there all
the time do we have booms football picks or no yeah we do okay so we got football picks to do
do got to tell you about that and then i think we pretty much got this thing roped in now here's the
thing our young guy jack it's a second year running the show full time season two last year and i's a
rookies first year. We've got to hold his hand helping a little. Watch him stumble. It's how
they learn. It's like having a kid in the studio. We have watched him grow up right before our
very eyes this year as he has blossomed into quite the prognosticator, a sharp even,
and one of the insiders of wagering spreads in the NFL. Bet365 is the world's largest betting platform.

booms back over 500 and ret and i have identical 128 and 1st and 1st 3 in a lot mark i know he 3 in
last week yeah he did a good week he was way under 500 for a while needed just one point one point
Everyone's feeling good, but here's the thing.
What do you not want to do?
Rest on your laurels.
You don't want to get high on the hog.
Cocky?
Do you want to get cocky?
No, you don't.
Jack, you're getting cocky or no?
Nope.
I'm right in the way.
He's changed up his picks.
He thinks he's feeling it.
So, no, the only thing that I'm done differently this year is not take the Steelers.
Because here's the thing.
It's the head and it's the heart.
Yes.
So your Steelers, it's just your heart.
but your head's where you think,
your heart's where you feel.
You've got to stuff feel in the Steelers.
You're thinking about spreads now.
Like, look at them going.
I'm locked in.
Use this brain.
You lead off, Jack,
you're our clubhouse leader
with our football spread picks.
Well,
let's do it.
I'm going to take my first over under the year.
This has moved.
You took a money line week one.
I got trouble for it.
No, you didn't.
We had it over under the last week.
Did we not?
I didn't like it.
I can change it if you want.
No, don't change it.
Over 46.
Over 46 and a half.
the return of Tua.
He's got the weapons.
Jalen Waddle. Tyreek Hill is excited.
We saw that yesterday. They got a solid run game.
Cardinals on the other side, they can put up points.
I like this game to hit the over.
I feel like this should be like a 51 point over under.
Strike up the band.
That's what Tyreek said.
Strike up the band.
I just don't want to see Tua laying on the ground stiff as a board.
We all agree on that.
And he did go over a year without one.
He did all last season healthy.
Let's hope he's got a nice healthy year ahead of him.
is painful to watch.
And Tyreek wants the band together.
Do I want what Tyreek wants?
Let's strike up the bleak and band.
Next.
Next.
Atlanta heading to Tampa Bay.
Tampa Bay,
so many injuries.
God went out.
Evans out.
I saw Bucky Irving's going to play.
I don't know how much that helps.
He is?
Yeah, he is.
He's in.
He's not 100.
That's right.
He's not 100.
Rashad White's not a good running back either.
That's correct.
So Falcons got destroyed last week against Seattle.
They'll bounce back here on in the
road in Tampa
Bay, two and a half, I like that.
And then I'm going to take Rett's bills
going to Seattle.
Red has the weather in Seattle.
Why do you hate my picks?
I don't, I just, you guys can't be allowed.
That can't be allowed.
You can't be allowed off my team.
You don't support your own team.
Go ahead. cheat.
I'll take Rett's bills minus three in Seattle.
Seattle, really good week last week.
But Sunday in Seattle,
the forecast, high of 12 degrees,
Celsius, rain throughout the day.
This is interesting.
This is Slopfest weather.
You know what kind of weather it is, though?
Josh Allen weather.
Yep.
Because I understand.
Where's he playing?
He's the bill.
He's playing the channel.
That's perfect.
What do we got here?
Okay, wind gusting to 40 kilometers an hour.
Bass will be terrible.
Five millimeters of rain.
This is, uh, I think this could be a nice little start the fireplace,
get a little stew on and watch.
You're not in Seattle.
You're not either.
You talked about going.
I should have, but it's raining and colds.
That is the thing.
You're always like, oh, they're in Seattle.
It's a short flight.
And then you're like, we're going to stand in the rain with like,
I'm going to pay a lot of money to fly to Seattle.
Garbage bags over our clothes.
What are we doing here?
I don't know that I need that.
Fireball.
Probably Firewell would help.
That's fair.
Next.
Who's up?
Next.
Uh, you want let you go.
Brett.
Well, it's up to Jack's the boss.
Jack's the boss.
Jack who's good.
He's doing.
All right.
All right.
All right.
All right. So shockingly, my first.
No, I don't like that pick. You're copying Jack. He's in first place.
We can't have this to me is a block that you guys are all picking the bills and then I can't climb the leaderboard.
What are you talking about?
Cheaters. There's like 16 games this week. You pick any three you want, buddy.
Bills are beautiful and we love them so. And sadly, I was, boom was being a jerk to me all week.
Okay. So I'm going against his bears.
Why you got to teach me a lesson.
go with the commanders plus three points.
Are you kidding me?
commanders are awesome.
They are.
Jane Daniels sounds like he's not going to go.
Marcus Marrida looked great,
right?
He's deadly.
And Jack was really nice to me.
So I took his team.
But now I hate him and wish I hadn't made this pick,
but the Steelers will win.
Steelers six.
Russell Wilson's second.
At home.
At home.
Best game ever last week,
like Jack said,
best game ever.
Yeah.
There was the best game ever.
Years, I think.
What wide receiver they ended?
I know they've been in the news.
Andy Isabella.
Andy Isabella on the practice roster.
We were joking yesterday.
Like, boy, you know that the trade's going to happen in the NFL.
Once the Steelers are linked to a wide receiver,
because then he gets traded somewhere else.
They're going to end up with some duster at the end.
Sure enough today.
Andy Isabella has signed on the practice roster.
That's what they're missing.
That's five.
Run.
Yeah, he's so good.
Steelers, minus six.
at home versus who?
New York.
Nobody.
Nobody.
Danny Dimes and not Sequin Barclay.
Have fun with that, New York.
All right, my pigs.
Let's jump right in.
I like the bills as well in Seattle.
I'm only copying Rett and our pool leader.
What I want to do is not be able to make up ground on Jack.
So I've paid the same pick as it.
That's my strategy.
It's insane.
You've got a favorite team.
I don't see your favorite team on there.
I sure don't ever bet on them because they suck.
Dolphins are back.
I'm hoping they are.
Arizona, okay, sure, but I just think if the dolphins are the dolphins here,
we're expecting high flying, high octane, jack's got the over, Waddle, Hill, Aachen,
Moster, let's go, fellas, put up a crooked number that Arizona can't keep up to you.
I like laying four for the old dolphins offense that is back.
And I just something about this line doesn't feel right.
I know the Eagles aren't world beaters, but we're talking about Cincinnati here.
Two and a half points.
Bengals are getting right.
So you're telling me neutral sight.
Cincinnati, be favored over Philly?
I don't know about that one.
So I'm going to go ahead and take the points with the Eagles.
I can still lose the game and win the bet.
Those are my three.
Am I crazy on Cincinnati?
You've been a Cincinnati hater all year.
Maybe it's just rubbing off.
Yeah, I think their offense is clicking,
but I don't think their defense is very good.
Yeah, in Philly, they get the receivers back.
They've got some players.
Sequins having a monster here.
All right.
What's Boom got?
Read them out for us, Jack.
What is Boom got for us?
Saints at Chargers.
Saints are horrible.
The Chargers don't put up many points either,
so he's going to take the under 41.
Chargers, again,
they had their star quarterback
throw for 350 yards last week.
No touchdowns, five field goals.
I like the under there.
Colts heading to Houston,
Texans minus five.
It's a bigger number,
but they can be explosive.
They played this year already?
Maybe really early.
It's divisional.
Yeah.
So you do play twice.
I'll pull it up.
again, I don't see.
And then he's also on the Dolphins minus four and a half.
Let's check the updated line here.
Yes.
I've got four.
He's got four and a half.
We got to settle that.
He might have just moved.
He sent me this right before the show.
I just don't know any screenshot it.
So let's go take a peek.
I don't like that extra half.
No, it's right.
I'm just looking right now.
It's still,
I'm showing four.
Four, but I'll refresh again.
We'll give boom four then.
I think we have to give each other the same number.
That's four.
Give them a half point.
I want four and a half point.
you don't have this game
I know but I want it for you
see some weeks you're like I'm doing it for my friends
another week so like scry yeah guys you're trying to make up
you're trying to stick it to me I'm always trying to stick it to
you're right that's good for the show so there's boomers picks
I actually really like that under I might hit that right now with the
chargers it's a tough watch on what you're supposed to be doing
get straxed by your phone no it's charges under
bet three six five promo code nation
you excited about this afternoon?
I'm intimidated by this afternoon.
I get social anxiety and then I drink more
and I drink more because I'm having fun
and then I start to feel.
And then you lose social anxiety
and now you're just ripping beers.
I'm just cool.
Do you actually have social anxiety?
Do you get?
Like a little bit in some spots?
Like I'm the biggest extrored ever.
I actually did a deep analysis.
Yeah.
I probably would.
I'd be like, yeah, no, there's anything.
You're more introverted than I think people would
Yes.
Small town.
We know Dean is introverted.
And we know that I'm the largest extrovert that the face of the
ist ever seen.
And so I'm looking forward to it.
Dean's probably sweaty palms worrying about saying hi to people and trying to remember
people's names.
And you're just like, yeah, I'm going to need a couple to loosen up.
That's my social.
We're so similar.
The three of us.
That's what makes the show so good.
Jack, where are you on the spectrum?
I'm probably more like Rett, give me a couple beers, loosening me out.
I'm kind of worried, though, because my car's here.
I don't really know how we're getting there, how I'm getting home.
Well, I would put your car somewhere where I can just sleep.
And you can deal with it tomorrow.
Like, is that the move?
Like, do I need to go and have four or five beers and then?
You're not driving if you have four or five beers.
Yeah, I know.
Put it at the mall and I can pick you up at the mall.
Which mall?
Glenn Moore and that's Chinook.
Yeah, does you go to the hearing loss clinic there.
Yeah.
Don't use their parking, but some jerk next to them.
I should have just Ubered here.
Yeah, you should have asked me for a ride.
Uh, yeah.
And then, uh, what, hockey, hockey, hockey, three boys, three hockey teams.
Yeah, too much hockey.
Any morning practices?
Are you, 7.45 a.m. soccer match on Sunday.
Socker.
9 p.m. hockey game Saturday.
745 soccer.
Tighter turn.
We've, we've seen tighter.
I've, uh, but yeah, that's not ideal.
What are we doing soccer here?
I thought, uh, this is hockey season.
Oh, Jaime's, uh, he's a big, big soccer guy.
It's his, uh, Welsh roots.
Yes.
He's a Spaniard.
Well, an Italian roots too, no?
Yes.
Yeah.
These are massive.
Orza.
Oh, Orza Italia.
Is that who they root for a World Cup and stuff?
Yeah.
We've got a soccer ball signed for a by the, what's it?
96th the World Cup was in the States.
94, I want to say?
One of the around.
Yeah, 94.
98 was France.
Yeah.
There was 02.
Is that so Africa?
The Italian soccer ball.
I don't know why.
I don't know why.
Germany 06.
They were hanging out.
she was too young.
Germany was 06 and Germany was awesome.
Wow. Okay. Yeah. Cool.
I'm excited.
For my kids, 745.
No, about soccer.
You got me thinking about the Cavs game on Sunday 2 o'clock.
I'm thinking about Elfin Castle, the ship,
Kildare's, cheering on the boys.
I know you're cheering on your dirs to get home field lost.
Yeah, you got to get that in, too.
Jack's going to be all antsy and his fancy over a six-point spread.

Lowell is keeping us on task.
Every jeet, thank you, Lowell.
Jack, is Lowell doing your job here?
Yeah.
I didn't get this on my rundown.
Why is Lowell doing your work?
Is he, he just volunteered to do it.
Are you farming out work to Lowell?
Lowell, don't make, don't work for free for Jack.
Rett's looking at the fridge.
What are we got here?
Well, since we're going to origin, it'll go top five.
Top five origin beers.
No, I don't know that I've even had the cowboy.
I haven't either.
I'm very excited to try that.
I'm going to put it at a five.
only because I haven't tried it.
I'm going to go.
Number five, because we're curious.
There it is.
I'm going to go Mexican Lager 4.
I'm an IPA guy.
So, oh,
I'm going to go.
Number three, the Pioneer.
No, wait.
There's the Hasey and the regular IPA.
I forget which one I like more.
So three and four or two and three.
The Hazier's going to have more of that citrusy flavor and the Pioneer's probably a little more bite to it.
Number three.
Number of Duke.
it's only one number one,
Reds. Of course. I love Blonde's.
Well, and Candy gave yourself a nickname last night.
She's after Burner Blonde.
I like that.
I like that.
I like that. I like that.
Yeah. She all hammered up.
Ah, no. We did the show sober,
which is what we like to do sometimes.
So there it is. Number five on Rhett's top five.
Plus, there's a camera on there.
Cowboy paleo.
Number four of the Mexican. I'd have this late.
I hire. I'm number two on Mexico.
Not as much in IP.
That's right.
Which is why it's
Look,
lots of good choices here.
Red's top five.
Number three,
the Hazy?
Yep.
Number two,
the Pioneer IPA.
Yep.
And then number one,
Red's top five.
See you at a half an hour.
I might just work by way,
right that blood.
Right down the line.
Is this the order?
Yeah.
Start to finish there.
Hey,
guys,
what are you doing this afternoon?
Ah,
this order right here.
We're going to start here and work our way through.
Okay.
See you Monday.
What do you say?
