Starting point is 00:00:16 We jump right into a live. Oh, one moment, please. Yeah, well, yeah, for sure. I've heard great things about your son. Oh, yeah, and I think yes, for sure. Well, I thought he should be getting some power play time, you know. Yeah. Oh, you're muted, buddy.
Starting point is 00:00:32 Yeah, you didn't want us hearing that. Yeah. I can't hear you. Yeah, no, that's all right. Can you hear me? Oh, there he is. Hello. I don't appreciate your BS.
Starting point is 00:00:42 Oh, what's what BS? Your S talk behind my back? I heard it. I could hear you. I was going to hear me. Oh, hey. Hi. How are you?
Starting point is 00:00:52 Oh, yeah. Little Jimmy's mom. Oh, so also it's a separation. Oh, well, that's terrible. Oh, boy. That's terrible. I hate that. Welcome to the show here on the something of October, 29th, let's call it.
Starting point is 00:01:08 October 29th. Oh, Hallows Eve. Yeah, it's the penultimate, no. No, I think of two. It's from the Hallows Eve, aren't we? So where yet? I'm at the big marble here. The big marble go center.
Starting point is 00:01:23 The what? The big marble go center in the medicine of hat. Marble go. Oh, you're going to get a lifting a swim in today? Oh, yeah. Or shizzle. Just go. Go team go.
Starting point is 00:01:40 Go team go. Got a big match, the young lad? No, he's an idiot. All right. It's the best, I guess. Coach is bagging, though. This is good. I'm sure this is my kind of coach.
Starting point is 00:01:56 Look at that. So down the back. Oh, you're right. There we go. Look at it closer to the action. Doubted back. This big ice, too, Olympia. Why do you make it the goalies do that?
Starting point is 00:02:07 What is this doing for them? Is he on the team? He can do them. Well, he can do up and the butterfly, then. At least something that's going to help him. Such a goalie dad. This is just, Rhett, this is what you used to talk about. You're like, we're doing things because we used to do them,
Starting point is 00:02:23 not because it makes sense to do them. Like, oh, let's do a, we're going to run the team around the stampede, the horse racing track. Listen, there's not a lot of playing hockey. There's nothing better for a player than a six-mile run. Nothing correlates better to play in hockey than running in six inches of mud in your running shoes. Hawk and Loub almost turned around and went back to Sweden. That's how stupid that training was.
Starting point is 00:02:52 There you go. That a boy, Jason. Well, then at least make him skate like a goal. He's going to skate. Good start. Great start. Well, it's better than what else we're going to talk about because it's not ideal. Oh, Dean, you had the challenging task of hosting Afterburner last night,
Starting point is 00:03:14 which meant your undivided and incredibly laser-focused attention was on that. Yeah, no, it, it wasn't actually. Okay, I was going to say the Yankees are playing Monday they flip. You know what? It was a sobering kind of evening. I won't lie to you. It was, if you were looking for some solace, I'm not going to find it there. Yeah. I'm not going to find it there. Big Giants guy too. It just became
Starting point is 00:03:38 very obvious watching that game. There was not going to be a whole lot of in-depth analysis on a post-game show because one team was good. The other team was not. It was not close. It was not close. I forget what I, because I looked at my notes, I was doing it with Googled last night.
Starting point is 00:03:58 Oh, that's one of the first notes I had, I think. Codry takes shot off foot and the next note outplayed considerably. There was, there was a, there was a, is my assessment. Isn't it, isn't it good to have clarity? Clarity's good. That's one game, but yeah. I think this is more what we expected, isn't it, right?
Starting point is 00:04:16 Well, it was very clear in that game that one team was good and one team wasn't. I'm just right. Sometimes it makes it life easier to have a little clarity. Yeah, you know what there wasn't? Moral victories. Right. There were none of those. There was no fooling anybody about what took place.
Starting point is 00:04:33 Spoiler alert, if you haven't seen it, 5-0 was the final score in Vegas last night. They scored two in 15 seconds, I believe it was in the third period. That's hard to do. The fourth line, run them through the ringer last night. Well, they got Cole Schwinted, guys, and that's happened a lot in this city. It just happened to be the Ranclers, Stons, NHLC. Yeah. And, you know, it's, because we were doing it.
Starting point is 00:04:57 Oh, Cole Schwent, oh, what the hell is it? You're going to live without Cole Schwint. You're going to be just fine. But when you're Conroy and you're the brass sitting there and Cole Schwint puts up two points, it's like, it is what it is, but at the same time, it is what it is. I would be lying if I said I didn't go find the Col Schwint anytime goal. goal line and I was really hoping that was a Vladar stick, not Colossar in front, because that's kind of how things go around here. Not that you haven't loved what Justin Kirkland's
Starting point is 00:05:26 given. And it's nice to see Cole Shrink get a chance somewhere because it wasn't probably going to happen here for whatever reason. And change of scenery is very nice things for players sometimes. Ask Pahall and others. I mean, there was a lot, I think there's five guys playing the former teams last night. Could have been, yeah. Obviously, the Schwint Hanifin on one side. in the Mantha Miramano of Pahol and the other. Right. Manta really counts himself as a Vegas golden knight or a night. Well, he was there last year.
Starting point is 00:05:54 It was his last team. But yeah, he did get, he was more of a pop. He was more of a couple. He definitely knew the press box well. I don't know about the players. He never, he never saw the ice a ton. They saw some of him and they said, we're good. Yeah, pretty much.
Starting point is 00:06:09 Which kind of is what the last five games have been for him after a really, really good start. Oh, we'll talk about him. Again, this is got them on the list. This is the book. Yeah, I got them on my list here. Yeah, this was, they were outshot 3816, 32 to 10 over the final two periods. They went 23 minutes without a shot on goal. This was never, this never felt like, oh, here they come.
Starting point is 00:06:32 If they could just get a bounce, maybe they'll be back in this thing. And, but this is, again, we talked about it. I kind of went back to three one. You go back over because it's now four out of five. They've now defeats. A 3-1 win against Chicago. Remember, they score and then the bald captain tips it in there, Felino.
Starting point is 00:06:53 The bald captain. They get a goal. It's a 2-1 game empty-knit. Okay, you beat Chicago, but it's also Chicago. All those, you know, the six goals, the big offense of outbursts, they're gone. Totally. And it's Chicago. So you win three to one.
Starting point is 00:07:06 And then you lost the Seattle in overtime. Very low event game. Just, yeah, it's very low event. That's right. Yeah. then you beat Pittsburgh in the shootout. You're outshot 3825. They had the lead until Cadry ties it in the final minute.
Starting point is 00:07:22 Yeah. And we know that the penguins are straight poo. Yes. So, all right, you got the win. But again, everything just kind of seemed to be doing it. Then you lost to the canes. And yeah. Then you lost to the jets.
Starting point is 00:07:34 And you can kind of skirt around the edges while the perfetti thing. And with Winnipeg. Yeah, Winnipeg was a bad hall. Weird goals. They were, they were the second best team really against Carolina. and Winnipeg. Yeah. And now.
Starting point is 00:07:46 Not even close. There's no window dressing here. Yeah. Got beat. Yep. It's a four or five game stretch where the offense is really dried up and they look pretty mediocre at five on five where they excelled in those first three games. And look, I don't think it's like them stopping doing something they were doing. I just give their coaching staff and that room credit for coming out working their tails off first three games of the year.
Starting point is 00:08:10 It takes some teams some time to, okay, we're back into it now. Like they came flying. lying out of the gates. They worked their tails off. They were undeniable with their work ethic. If other teams are going to match the flames work ethic team, how are you going to win? Are you going to skill them? You need a goalie, I guess. What I would say is, I mean, what it does is it shows you what happens when they don't go all out. Yes. When they, when they don't bring it, this is what can happen. This was, this was, I'll look for your descriptor after a flabbergasted, flustered, flummoxed. We love flummoxed.
Starting point is 00:08:44 Rasmus Anderson post game. Second and third period were brutal. Obviously, they're a good team, but yeah, that was not acceptable. The last second and third period was not acceptable, and it's not to our standard. And, yeah, it can't look like that. That's for sure. 23 and a half minutes or so without a shot.
Starting point is 00:09:11 That's a long time. What happens? Say that again. That's what the... 23 and a half. because it was in the first period, I think, with about 541 left, Zeri got the last shot on goal, and nothing until the end of the period.
Starting point is 00:09:24 And then it was not till Pospisal got a shot late in the second period. Oh, so yeah. 23 and a half minutes without a shot. That's, uh, because I heard it. I think Dean might have just, the number might be, no, that's,
Starting point is 00:09:39 that's the number. Yeah. That is an incredibly horrid stretch. And there were close shots. There was actually, I think there was a three on two or a three on one where they didn't. where they didn't get a shot. That's not the right pass.
Starting point is 00:09:49 Either way. But, and I don't really, it just, you weren't surprised by it because Vegas was just coming at them all night. They were, they were good. Yeah, they were good enough and their fourth line had a great night.
Starting point is 00:10:03 Stone go, like once you get up two nothing again, we talk about it a lot, it's like, okay, well, is Vegas floren it like they need one more? And the fourth line did give them credit. Cole Schwint clearly was up for this one. Keating Coles are probably best. Yeah, because they were getting ice time, because they were usually going to get that.
Starting point is 00:10:19 These are the score effects. Are you going to start double shifting your first line when you're up two or three, Red? Probably not. No. I'm going to say you to talk about a rocking chair shut up. What was it, 19 saves? What did it end up 16? 16 saves for Aiden Hill?
Starting point is 00:10:38 Well, I might be just thinking even strength. So, yeah, let's see. Let's pull it up. No, it was 16. What? Jeez. Do we recall? And I think maybe his toughest save.
Starting point is 00:10:47 was when Pahal kind of fanned on one. Yeah. Sort of in close when Hill was on his stomach. And that's on Pahall, not in Hill. If Hill could do what he wanted, he'd probably scorpion there, right? So I don't really know what kind of quality shots he faced in the game. And I'll take you back to Winnipeg. Where did the Flames really challenge Eric Commer to make a good save?
Starting point is 00:11:08 Yeah, it's fair. And Kouchev, I thought, did have to make a few good saves. But what we're seeing is a team that struggled offensively in the last handful of games to create chances and high quality chances. And when you see Ryan Huska go to the line blender, people react different ways to it. But he's doing that because he's seeing what we're saying, which is these guys aren't creating shit.
Starting point is 00:11:30 I got to people in different spots to try to let them know that it's not okay. Because Manko, you can go play on the fourth line for a bit here. I just, I somewhat disagree with you. And I only disagree. I only disagree with you because I think Huska has, to recognize where and what this team is. And the reality of it is, Huska can say what he wants.
Starting point is 00:11:56 Oh, yeah, we're going to out-compete. We're going to find a way to make a playoffs. You know deep down. And the point I'm getting at is that if he starts blending these lines and mixing and matching, he can lose those guys too early. We're still early in the year. We're, what are we?
Starting point is 00:12:13 How many games is it? 10, 9, 9. 5, 3. Yeah, so what do you do when they're not working hard enough? Because that was last night. I leave them together and say, go play. Just because what are you going to do in December when they're not? Yeah, I think it's a good point because Ryan Husk is coaching this team to get in the playoffs.
Starting point is 00:12:33 Yeah. When the honest, intellectually, honesty is what Feaster always said. If you take the 10,000 foot view and have an anonymous person audit 32 organizations, this isn't a playoff team. But Ryan Husk's job is to try to make it one. And, you know, if there's a 13% chance of the playoffs, his job is to have that one year, that outlier year where they can get in. But I still don't think I think.
Starting point is 00:12:57 So it's a tough spot. Yeah. It's a really tough spot. And that's hot. And I'm looking at it from a coaching point of view. And I mean, even job preservation for Huska, you know what happens when coaches.
Starting point is 00:13:10 Overting. There's a shelf life, right? And when you, and usually that shelf life starts to rear its head I'm speaking up in weird sentences. But the point I'm getting at is you start to tinker. That's when it usually, it's like, oh, oh, that foundation has started to, and now I'm trying to rejig this and get it to find itself again.
Starting point is 00:13:32 I just worry, you come out of the gates. You have great success. We're all excited and happy for you. We're going to push and we're going to do everything we can and everything's great. Don't lose sight of what you are. And the vibes are great, right? Yes. What did we?
Starting point is 00:13:49 Did I? It was with Dwayne on Friday or at origin. That's what happens to teams. Like Florida was like that when we went to the finals. There was a plan. We're in the Stanley of finals. All of a sudden, the plan changes? Like, it shouldn't.
Starting point is 00:14:08 You had a hell of a run. And I don't, I'm not saying that the plan has changed. Huska wasn't going to coach them hard. But I just worry that putting them in the, a blender too early. Guys, guys will get frustrated with it. And I, it's consistent. Like, you did a lot last year. And it's, and I think what he does is he goes back to the normal lines again. Yeah. And then it's, it's the stick. When you aren't working hard enough, I'll do this. So if you bring the work ethic, you can stay with your friends. But as soon as you start, you know,
Starting point is 00:14:36 not working, now I got to send messages. So maybe that's the middle ground. You don't start Wednesday with new lines, but you, you allow them the chance to, okay, these are our lines. Now, this time we work. And listen, this is going to Yeah. And this is coming. This is why it's very a coach team like this.
Starting point is 00:14:54 Like, yeah. It's there are. Collecting his thoughts. No, I don't think he is. No. Well, sometimes maybe the Wi-Fi is
Starting point is 00:15:07 collecting its thoughts. Restart there, right? We got you. It's, in San Jose, there's no expectations. Right? Zero. Yep.
Starting point is 00:15:18 So it's a lot of, it's almost, easier to coach there because they're not there's nothing. Here in Calgary we always think that there's going to be there's some expectation. We're going to compete. We're going to do this. I just worry that those guys
Starting point is 00:15:34 that were happy five games in, and I'm talking about Huberto and Cadry because those guys don't lose you're going to lose a lot of games in all reality. And if they stop having fun.
Starting point is 00:15:53 That work ethic is drops off. It's only going to get worse. And this is coming from a guy that's like, work your ass off. There's no, you don't get to take shortcuts and you should always be working hard. I'm just, I'm speaking from a coaching's point of view. And in a way, I think Huska, don't, don't overpush it.
Starting point is 00:16:14 Because it, make it fun. I don't, again, I'm, I'm babbling. away because I'm not sure exactly what the perfect scenario is. It's a tricky one for sure. It's a shitty spot. Yeah, because what there's different, depending on who you talk to, there's a different measurement for what success looks like for this team. Right.
Starting point is 00:16:32 For some, it's make the playoffs. For others, it's finished dead last. And somewhere in the middle, you've got a coach, like you say, you've got a coach who is only going to be judged by his wins and losses. You're not going to look back five years from now and say, he did a really good job of keeping morale high while they were a non-playoff team. No one cares about that. Before, I just want to mix this.
Starting point is 00:16:50 This was Huska, because there are some others, because we'll talk with the line shuffling and all that. But this was Huska talking about where they're at, kind of how they got there. And then what do you do to try and pull out of it? I think you remember who you are a little bit sometimes and just keep your game simple. Like if you're going through stretches where the puck play like it was tonight for us wasn't clean or crisp, it's been that way for a few games now where I feel like we're trying maybe a little too hard to, and feeling like we have to force plays instead of just. sticking with it, like the first period was kind of going and being prepared to do it for 60 minutes.
Starting point is 00:17:24 We haven't stayed with it the last few games for a full 60 minutes. Remember who you are. Yeah. When you don't come and bust your ass, you're not going to win many hockey games. It's about energy and forecheck. If they're going to win, they need good goal attending and they got outwork the other team. That's the formula for this group. And you probably need a little puck luck, which they had the first three games of the year
Starting point is 00:17:48 when they had 16 goals. Yeah, they had a lot of goals. Yeah, like the special teams don't look good. This is usually if it's a hardworking, like hard hat work boots team, you can have a good penalty kill. That's not there right now. Dan Vladar is taking on water the last couple starts. I think it's almost time to, depending on what happens Wednesday,
Starting point is 00:18:06 to start looking at, do we need to keep alternating? Because I think sample size is still small. But one guy's starting to separate from the other, my opinion, Dean. I think, yeah, I don't, I think it's pretty obvious. Because I've been, and I said it last night for a while, you watch Lidar play. It's like, man, he's making big saves. He looks good, but the numbers aren't there to support it. Now the numbers aren't there and he's looking a little leaky as well.
Starting point is 00:18:30 I don't know what, I don't know how much you blame him on what happened last night, but it's a five nothing game. And I have a theory I want to test. And I'll ask some goalie nerds. But is Dan Lidar as well positioned as Dustin Wolf most nights? I'm thinking the answer's no, because it always seems he has to make these circus bleeping saves and then he's still got an 8, 9, 5 at the end of the day. Maybe
Starting point is 00:18:52 when you're that much bigger and you're in the right spot, you shouldn't have to be doing the Hasek half the night. And I'm over exaggerating to make a point, but Dustin Wolf hasn't had to sprawl to make saves where I feel like that's been what we've watching for three plus years of Danvlar, whatever the track record is now.
Starting point is 00:19:10 Where are you at on the rotation, retro? Rotate. And look, the deck starts an important one. If Dustin Wolf ordinary Wednesday, you got to keep rotating. If he looks very good against Utah, you win, I'm open to the conversation. I kind of am too. Well, yeah, I'm not going to stick a right line in the sand or rotate, do what you want really at this point, but rotate, don't rotate. I don't think it makes a difference. I mean, are you, what are you trying to
Starting point is 00:19:40 find out if Wolf is the guy? Yes. And give him a run. If he's earned it. Yeah, I don't think you The problem with it is, sorry, and I'm not, it's not a problem. Something to think about is if the team's not playing well, is it worth having him in there if they're just, if the team's not playing hard enough to support them. Well, I got bad news. It's going to be three years. It's going to be tougher Dustin Wolf.
Starting point is 00:20:07 If those are the parameters we've got to have. Yeah, I know, but he can only, he can go in every other game. Do you know what I mean? Like, if you're looking, because what are you going to, well, you can evaluate. He's a goalie. Yeah. I'm just saying if he's getting bombarded. They're losing five nothing.
Starting point is 00:20:21 Is it worth running them out there again? And I guess you're saying don't. You're saying if he looks good to it. Yeah. And I think we understand when you get peppered and a goalie keeps you in one and you lose by one. We've seen a bit of that lately. That's kind of more of the,
Starting point is 00:20:36 that's a good night for the goalie. And if he had a better team in front of him, he's probably got a double. Has he had that? And I'm serious. Like the Wranglers seem to have always been a good team and a lot of it has to do with the fact that he's a good goaltender. But has he ever had where...
Starting point is 00:20:55 I think he's been so elite at other levels, that it was like Cooper. It's like what bad teams they ever played on. They're never bad when they... He's been a big part of why they have it. The biggest part. The biggest part. Like the Rangers were never good until he arrived,
Starting point is 00:21:08 whether it was in Stockton, Adirondack, Abbotsford. They started winning divisions and being favored in home series and going on playoff runs when Dustin Wolf got on the scene, period, stop. The goal tent, we'll probably, that'll probably, become a topic. It will. And that's the Thursday thing. This wasn't a Vlodar thing last night. He was part of it, but it was not of Ladar thing. Lots of time for that. Blake Coleman, one of the leaders of the team, talking about, echoing the same sentiments as Rasmus and as Huska, that this was just, they weren't good enough. But also wondering if maybe
Starting point is 00:21:38 the timing of things might be a bit of a blessing in disguise. It's a long season. You're going to have a lot of highs and a lot of lows. And this is, you know, I'm actually glad we're getting this early in the air. It's one of those, uh, see what you're made of points of the season and see what kind of guys are got in the room. Now, Huska didn't necessarily agree. He's like, I don't know that I, that we need to be going through it at any time necessarily. Well, the assumption that you come out of it is what Blake Coleman's making. Yeah. I think what Husk is saying is, I don't want to see efforts like that. Yeah. It's, we're going to go to these clips and we're going to just get, it's going to turn into, I've heard this before. Yeah, this is new to us this year, but it won't be by
Starting point is 00:22:20 December, January, February, March. Yeah. Probably won't be playing them then. Good chance. So now, so we talked about, I guess, just to kind of get into it. The third period, the lines go into the blender. And somebody messaged last night, like, Rhett said, remember Rhett last week, they'd been winning and then they changed the lines.
Starting point is 00:22:41 And Red said, don't do it. So I guess you were bang on. Yeah, don't bring Sharon Govich back. Don't bring them in. Don't do it. Um, and I wondered with, with how things shook down, how much of it was. I'm going to put Zarian pospousal back with Codry. It's not like pospals crushing it as, as a center.
Starting point is 00:23:00 Cooled off. This line had some spark for us last year. Put them back together. Uh, Matt than Kuzmanko can't, we'll move Kirkland up because at least he works. And we know that Lombard goes with Cuberdo and Sharon Govich back to the middle. it was all just kind of a kind of a mishmash. I don't think that there's anything there
Starting point is 00:23:22 that suggests we see it again other than maybe Caudry with Zarian Pospisal just because we saw it for a long time. But from a coaching standpoint, for Anthony Mantha, to healthy scratch him, it's not going to do him any, he is what he is by now.
Starting point is 00:23:41 He's an old player. He's not a prospect. He's scored. He's not scored the whole thing. I just wonder, yesterday we talked about the message that it may be sends by sending Coronado down while Manta is playing poorly. Now, if you keep, I just wonder for a guy,
Starting point is 00:24:00 does Huska for the accountability for the merit-based ice time, if you keep putting Manta out there and getting top six, top nine minutes, what's the message sending to the rest of the team? Because he doesn't deserve it right now. He deserves to be sitting and watching for at least a game or two. I think he should. He's got one shot in his last five games. Yeah, no shots last night.
Starting point is 00:24:24 Like five games, guys, one shot. What's his tool? What is the one thing he could use is his calling card? Yeah. Being big and shooting the puck. He's still big. Never going to not be big. You stop shooting the puck.
Starting point is 00:24:36 It's a one-year deal, retro. You're getting a better math of the game after. The only thing you're going to possibly do is hurt his feelings. There's nothing. There's nothing to me. There's no other real side effect. I don't, well, I don't know. Is he working hard?
Starting point is 00:24:50 Because that's what he can control. And has he had a tough time bringing work? I just mean in a negative sense. Like, oh, you might lose them. What's the sit sit. Yeah, I'm with you. Sorry, I thought you were framing it the other way. No, I was, I think there's lots of good.
Starting point is 00:25:04 I think there's nothing negative. Yeah, yeah. One year deal, what are you going to, oh, you might lose the player. You might get, I think you get better player coming back. I don't know. This is where all that stuff that we didn't want to have to talk quickly. coming out. Matt, that's going to be great.
Starting point is 00:25:21 Ebertoe's going to be great. He's searching for a fight. He's going to, he was looking for T.J. Miller. He's going to get some retribution for his teammate. He scores in the first period. Oh, this guy, you can trade him. It's not always necessarily the, it's not the calling card of Anthony Matha. He tends to disappear at times.
Starting point is 00:25:36 And yeah, has he disappeared? But when you have, you're mixing in youth, I wonder what, you're thinking about Klapka, now Coronado and Peltche and some other guys We're, okay, we're going to buy our time. But we're going to bide our time. I'll be a healthy scratch. I'll play in the A. I'll wait.
Starting point is 00:25:55 But why? Why is this fella here? Yeah. I think that the message, so they have the hot. I'm thinking as I'm talking as I'm thinking. And so I'm Conroy. I'm in Conroy's shoes right now. I'm in Husk's head.
Starting point is 00:26:10 I'm trying to think of how I would approach this. And I think probably I'm going to go a few more games as is. And then around, depending on how the team's doing, and he doesn't really matter, it will be a meeting of everyone, coach, GM players. This is how we're going to treat the rest of the season. If you're not going to work, you're going to sit. Don't pout about it.
Starting point is 00:26:36 I'm not going to put up with the agent's phone and me and whining. Here's, here it is. It's laid out in front of you. That's very, you know what? Very level-headed and fair. I think that's the approach. I think what's key in there is that you address it internally before it becomes public. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:26:52 And when you, a healthy scratch, you got in the rafters, all 32 teams see it, all fan bases see it. That guy has to go to the rink. And everyone that works there says, oh, that guy's healthy scratch last game. So we don't know if that conversation has already happened or not, but it's getting to the point where it's five games where, God, the sport would be easy for a lot of people if they had the tools he had. But the one thing he doesn't have is that consistent work ethic. On the one thing. If you could be that big and that strong and shoot it the way he does. does Christ.
Starting point is 00:27:18 The one thing that Huska, I don't think is, is blinded by, you know, by shit that ain't happened. And I'm trying to think of the word, the one thing that he is coveted and has demanded is work. He said that last year. He said it this year. He said it through camp. We're going to work. We got to outwork.
Starting point is 00:27:37 Here's it. Work. I just don't think, I don't think he was fooled. But it's the one calling. It's what he needs to see out of his team on a nightly basis. And to sit anybody. specifically, you know, Manta. Who's fighting, who's going to fight him on it?
Starting point is 00:27:53 You can be pissed off, I suppose. But the message should be sent that anyone that's not going to work can sit. Like, if you want to have a week off, that's fine. You'll get a week off. But the problem of being a, well, it's not a downer, it's reality.
Starting point is 00:28:11 This team can go out work. Other teams are still not going to win. That's right. We haven't seen that yet, but that's the thing. Yeah. This team is going to go and you're going to have a, a stand. and you're going to make these demands. And if we work hard, we'll have success.
Starting point is 00:28:26 Maybe. Last night, they saw what can happen if they don't. Yeah, that was the real first game where I'm like, you go up to. This is the issue. This is the issue that Conroy and Husker are going to have to face is how to keep morale high enough when you lose 4.3 and you worked your ass off. And you've now lost five in a row and you've actually worked really, really hard. You just don't have a point or a win. Like what's, where's the apple?
Starting point is 00:28:54 You know what I mean? There's sticks. There's carrots. You can beat. You can, like, how are you approaching it? Hey, coach, we just lost five in a row. But we outworked four of the teams. Yeah, we haven't seen it yet, but you're right.
Starting point is 00:29:06 It's a definite thing we'll see stretches of. The one thing I'll say is there's lots of room for improvement on the work ethic. I mean, if you want to just ignore contractual status and service time in the NHL, you can put some guys to watch and bring up some kids. Hans is theoretically healthy soon. Pelche has been, you know, lighten up the American hockey league great amongst the league leading scorers.
Starting point is 00:29:28 Coronado should be back with a massive chip on his shoulder. Anthony Mather does not need to play for this hockey club. If Huska is trying to win like he is. Sure, a couple weeks ago, we're trading him. No, but look, the whole thing is the work ethic, Red. Like, again, if he wants to come up to be the hardest-up Wednesday, they're going to keep him in the lineup. It's that simple.
Starting point is 00:29:48 He does a work. It's the reason he's available. I just know how to work consistently. And I don't, I, and as a coach, Husk is going, I can figure this. Oh, okay. We'll see. So awkward, more awkward, but similar.
Starting point is 00:30:04 Where are we at on Kuzmenko? Because I know when he's right in scoring and creating plays and the wizardry offensively, it's just, it's so fun. And yet, routinely, since he arrived after the trade with Linholm, for Linholm last year, when things haven't gone well we've seen in huska put him on the fourth line the same sort of like treatment he got from rick to look at uh albeit to the lesser extent in vancouver i mean this is still a guy a lot of people
Starting point is 00:30:30 are like sign him sign him sign him and i the more i see of this the more i worry like yes he can be great at times but the consistency is just so it's mantha ask yeah the shirty part is the consistency and putting them on the fourth line okay i i I'm telling you, we're going to get stuck in the mud on these conversations because what are you going to do? Play them, play him, play him, play him offensively. What are, well, he's got to work. He's not working hard. Put him on the fourth line.
Starting point is 00:31:04 Sit him out. But the deadline's coming right. We might be able to get a pick. Yeah. Like that's going to be a lot of the chat. How do you keep the morale up where these guys want to come to the rink? They're enjoying it. Even though they outwork the team, they still aren't scoring and they lose the, I'm, it's, it's, it's, it's.
Starting point is 00:31:20 is a it's going to be difficult. And I don't know what. He's not going to be your hardest working player. No. No, he's never been that. So he's going to be an offensive guy. And if he's not feeling good offensively, he's probably not overly interested in playing.
Starting point is 00:31:40 And I don't, I'm being a little drastic, but. Do you remember preseason? He said he wanted to get 300 shots. He's got five games with one. 300. shots what are you talking about? Yeah, but when you know, I mean, it was a misquote. I think, you know, they reiterated
Starting point is 00:31:56 to Husk and he said, I don't think we said that number. Like, well, Vetchkin gets 300. Not a lot of guys. But it's a point about if you're going to be an offensive player, as Rhett saying, you better be doing something offensive because otherwise you're not much to us. Yeah, and I think Kusmanko is that to a certain
Starting point is 00:32:12 degree. I think he was, he's, I don't think he's going to be the guy. He wasn't going to grab everybody and pull them into a battle or. No. lift their heads above water. The other hard part for him is he wants to be offensive. Well, even if he is,
Starting point is 00:32:27 so say that he's on the top of him and Sharonovich and Huberto find our top offensive players. And I'm just making shit up. Who are they playing against? Like if you're the knights, you're saying, well, okay, Peter Angelo and whoever, Hanifin, you're getting top pairing defensemen against you. are you that good that you're going to do you know what I mean like yeah how good offensively are we
Starting point is 00:32:57 I'd be more worried about a coderpossed so zeri line at this point it's probably more of a statement they don't have a top line but a bunch of good lines that's my point I'm making is that they're not offensive enough to even go let's go running and that's for these guys are available that's why you got kuzminko back in a deal where you gave up lindholm and you got a first and you got two prospects and you got a conditional you're not fully the team was if he was a hard and fast top line winger, he doesn't come back in that deal. They go trade him for assets. They don't add him in.
Starting point is 00:33:28 Ditto Mantha being available on a one year deal at three and a half. Like if he played like he did against Vancouver night one 20 times a year, he'd be locked into a contract like Pierre Luc de Bloch someplace. I'm still, it was surprising. And if the thought process was sign this guy for a year, put him in all of our offensive, our top offensive scenarios and situations and see if we can trade him at the deadline. But the signing of Manta came out of left field to me. Because we talked to, you got so many wingers.
Starting point is 00:34:01 They're trading guys out to get rid of wingers and then they brought him in. It was an interesting signing and remains to be because who's at this point, it's the, you're kind of selling at the bottom and you'll try and pump that stock up. But who's in the market for a, um, mantha? No, on deadline time, what, I know that they, second or something like Vegas gave up. Yeah. I mean, if you could get a third from great, but it might.
Starting point is 00:34:24 Yeah, and Kuzmeco's same. So what you need is a situation where a team is competing that year, and they're saying we're moving assets to try to get better at the deadline. And our whole is the skill set that these players bring. And so for Kuzmenko, maybe it's a team like the islanders that struggles, struggles to score, struggles to speak. And for Manta, maybe you're a smaller forward group and you've got great work ethic, but you need a little more touch and help on PowerPlay 1 or
Starting point is 00:34:49 two. I don't know. It's harder and harder to sell the worse he plays, but after game one against Vancouver, every team would add that guy. We'll move on because there's more to say about it, but it's a long season, like you say, Red. So we'll keep our negative mantha takes in the holster. Hey, when he's great, he's great. Just have great games, bud.
Starting point is 00:35:07 Then we'll pump you up like we did after the first game. So positive, Ryan. Good job. At a boy, Ryan. Yeah. You're welcome. Appreciate that. Vinova, moving to Market Mall, opening November 1st. Now, I believe that's still the plan. I've not heard from Justin to say suggest otherwise. I actually saw what somebody sent us a photo.
Starting point is 00:35:24 Did we see the new? It's a video. Looked nice. Market Mall, the new home base for Vena Nova, Calgary's lab grown diamonds specialist. The only store in Calgary that specializes it exclusively in lab grown diamonds. They were ahead of the curve. Everybody's doing lab grown now. They've been doing it for years and doing it better than anybody.
Starting point is 00:35:43 And it's all that they do. Visit vinanova.com or very soon, the market mall location November 1st. Love it. I'm so happy for job. Looking good. And they had the old
Starting point is 00:35:55 mystery paper up on the window. No, no, no, no, you can't see it yet. What's been to know? No,
Starting point is 00:35:59 not, not yet. Coming soon. That's right. I'll tell you what's not in there. Dirty, dirty, dirty, dirty, dirty, dirty,
Starting point is 00:36:08 dirty, stinking dirty mind diamonds. Look at this. Look at this. Look at that, Rhett. Oh, look, there's lights on in there.
Starting point is 00:36:15 They're hiding behind that, there's curtains, paper. That's very, construction board. What do we got? That's chic. Curtains.
Starting point is 00:36:21 Iron chic. Camel clutch. I'm confused by this. So there's windows above. It looks like it's going outdoors. It's a beautiful spot. Beautiful. Beautiful.
Starting point is 00:36:33 Labgrown diamonds. Christmas coming. New location market mall. It's all coming together, boys. It's all coming together. Viena Nova.com online is where you can do some shopping as we speak. Love it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:46 Indeed. What else did I have written down? It's got to be enough about that game. Utah on Wednesday. That's probably the next. And Utah's in a, well, a bit of a spin. They had a great start too.
Starting point is 00:37:01 Right in the emotions of actually having fans and a real owner. Do we still have that in the old chamber from last night? Because they were in a good spot. San Jose stinks, right? The charts can't win. They're 07 and whatever. Breaking records. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:12 Sounds like. No, they're no good. And they were taking on Utah last night, who used to be the coyotes, red. Utah, the Utah Coyotes? No, it's the Utah Hockey Club. Utah Grizzles?
Starting point is 00:37:24 It used to be, it was the Arizona Coyotes. So they moved to Utah now. And the thing about the coyotes is they were never really any good. They were okay at times, but not really good. So now they went to, because I was looking this morning, their start. They started three and oh, the hockey club, the HCs. A three and oh start, maybe all they needed was to get out of the desert.
Starting point is 00:37:47 Maybe it's too dry. It's still very dry, I would guess. very darn so like it is the Anyway, last night, they've got the Sharks who, again, no good. They got a 4-1 lead here with the under 5 to go. Perfect. That's easy.
Starting point is 00:37:58 Big dub. Lock it down. Yeah. Tough dog. He's got five snipes on the air, I think. 4-1. That gets his second of the game. 4-2.
Starting point is 00:38:15 Another minute's later. Jesus. He's 4-3. It's a net behind in there. holding that early, Rhett? Yeah. Well, you're down by three. Four minutes.
Starting point is 00:38:24 Just keep winning draws to Foley. Off dog. And then to overtime. Oh, wow. So there it is. First win of the season. It's a miracle. Yeah, they blew a third period leading game one.
Starting point is 00:38:53 So you got that one back. So congrats to the sharks. Yeah, I guess. Congrats. Positive five. Good job. Tough dog, man. Putting up numbers.
Starting point is 00:39:01 You don't need to lose 10 straight games. Mix one in every once in a while. Utah, though. Since that 3 and 0 start, one, four, and two since. So. There's some parallels here. I was going to say.
Starting point is 00:39:19 They do have better excuses in Utah. They've lost very good defensemen for considerable amounts of time. But yeah, there was a very emotional fun start for them. But that's what's going to be waiting for them is a team that pissed away a 4-1 lead with under 5 to play to the only winless team in the NHL. Yeah, there's two miserable. They might have a bur in their saddle. Surly?
Starting point is 00:39:44 They might be a wee bit surly. Okay. As Rets, as you can see there, he's trying to think of what word to use. Yeah. Nine points for Tafoli. All right. Yeah. Looks like the ghost.
Starting point is 00:40:00 center could use some, uh, their Wi-Fi. Who's checking out right there at the counter? Sure, yeah. So back to that, Jack. That bird? Hey, why don't you tell you? Hey, yeah. Well, Jimmy.
Starting point is 00:40:13 Uh, let's get into the Pinder report. The Pinder report for Village Honda. More flexibility, more payment options, explore Honda's new 28 month stretch lease. Ooh, feels good. Stretch it out. Stretch it out. Village Honda. What's, what, well, what is this?
Starting point is 00:40:32 about what would it ask him about it 28 months that doesn't seem crazy right it's a nice little thing you get it in there yeah CRV HRV the civic on a stretch lease ooh that feels good offer in soon though don't dilly dally don't be dragging your feet on this northwest autumallom online at village honda dot com and they present rindindindindind oh pin a report you'll be surly you'll be so surly you'll be surly dilly dally you'll be surly dilly dally and you know what else don't be lollygagging. I like dilly dallyan. Do you?
Starting point is 00:41:07 Yeah. Depending on the day, if I got nothing going on, I'm up for a dilly dally. Can I mention Anthony Mather or do we move on? No. Is he lies? I feel like what he's doing, it's more hurtful than dilly dally dally. If I'm getting 3.5, I'm not dilly dally. There's people that are depending on him.
Starting point is 00:41:30 Dillie Dillie Daly just sounds like, oh, he's made to do some dilly dilly dally. Dallie. I just do some running around today. I got nothing else. You know what? I think he falls into the lollygagging. Yeah, he's lollygagan. That's not me old.
Starting point is 00:41:39 There's a little, there's more shame, I think, involved to, to lollygagan than Dilly Dalygan. You know, it wasn't, uh, either Lolliggan or Dillydallian last night and was not surly, but maybe was heading in. It's Colchewin's world baby. Two points for the fourth liner for the waiver claim acquired by the
Starting point is 00:41:57 Vegas golden nights from the flames. Good for him. Two assists. and the fourth line really took over this game and made it a laffer in the third period. Congrats to Cole. And I don't mean that cheekily. No, I don't either. When you get waived by a team and then you play them, it's one thing that you're still with the NHL club when you play them again,
Starting point is 00:42:17 because I did not expect him to be a Vegas golden night. I figured they'd be sending him down fairly soon. And then you get two points against the team that told you to beat it. That's got to be, it's got to feel sweet. I hear the standings. Flames are not unlike the Utah Hockey Club, tumbling from the top down. Let's start with the league,
Starting point is 00:42:37 now down to 12th in the league. It's still a tidy record at 5 3 and 1. It's just that the first 5 were all the fives in the wind column. Remember, could I just jump in? Yeah, please. Remember we were at origin the other day on Friday? We started going through top five Kim Mitchell songs, and we stalled out.
Starting point is 00:42:57 I got up and I went for a piss, and then I was standing like, oh, fine. that's, I mean, logger and ale. How did I not think of logger and ale? I thought you went out to go get a soda and nobody got hurt. No, because we did go for a soda and I'm a wild party and patio lanterns. Then I, then we, I, that's the hold.
Starting point is 00:43:15 Jeez, I was upset with myself. That's top five, not boomers. Then I came back out to jump back in, but you, you and Jack could shut it down after about three minutes. Yeah, I don't know if you're going to carry the show, guys. That'll do it. Yeah. That did it all right. Anyway, Ryan, back to you.
Starting point is 00:43:31 Let's take a look at the wildcard standings in the West as you see the flames hold one. And there's some good teams behind them. Primarily, I look at Colorado. You can scroll way down, but I'm sure the Oilers are still in the West. Anyway, we'll more on that later as they'll play on Sunday at the Saddle Dome. I have no feelings about a Sunday game. Love Sunday games. Start it even later.
Starting point is 00:43:53 Let's go. Right. Schedule, let's go. In fact, this is where we look, glance ahead, Rhett. Have you been to Salt Lake City? No. Noodles have all the pointers who talk to him. He's been there. I've driven through.
Starting point is 00:44:06 I kind of want to go. I kind of do too since I saw that they had record beer sales, which I guess requires them to actually sell beer. Yeah. So that sort of changed my mood on it. Does it make you think what they've been doing at basketball games to that point? It took one NHL game for them to set a beer sale record. It does be in Frutopias.
Starting point is 00:44:26 What are we, Snapples? What are we doing at these basketball games? Jeez. I'm a mix one in guys Christ it's all right crystal clears what are you remember those uh yeah one left on the two game roadie it's a two game homestand Markstrom ball rematch game and then uh the the oilers limping into the Sunday affair we'll explain more uh very quickly here then it's off for an eastern three game swing it's a Tuesday in Montreal we're going to have a lot of watch party for that I don't know
Starting point is 00:44:57 Boston Bruins on the road and then the Sabres read on Saturday the night and 11 a.m. Matinee. So that's what's coming up ahead. In Buff? In Buff. Montreal, Boston Buffalo. Nice. Yeah, sure.
Starting point is 00:45:14 And Cavs final that day, double it up. Let's go. Make a little double header. I know where I'll be. On your couch. I'll be in Sherwood Park, actually. We've got to talk about that. Gross.
Starting point is 00:45:24 A big tournament. It's going to be massive. Anytime you can get to Sherwood Park in the second week in November. It's where you want to be. Are we getting away? Yeah, we're getting away. Well, Hawaii, the place we usually stay was booked. And the thing about, I've heard that Disney World is quite busy that week because it's a weird holiday in Florida.
Starting point is 00:45:44 So we're going to head to Sherwood Park. Yeah. In November. Oh, was there a seat sale or something? No. Really? No. Broose.
Starting point is 00:45:53 That's right. They got that new train running up there, Dean? Is that where the mall is? No, it's a little to the west of there. Jeez. That's almost my Commodore country. Just you go a little bit further to Fort Saskatchewan. Fort Saskatchewan.
Starting point is 00:46:10 Yeah, that's right. Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. No, no. Fort Saskatchewan. See, I would think Fort Saskatchewan would be in Saskatchewan. You would think. Yeah. And meanwhile, Lloydminster, it can't make it.
Starting point is 00:46:22 That's like, yeah. Where's Fort St. John? That just won't even. Then you got Calgary Trail. You think that's going to be in Calgary. It's in Edmonton. We got an Edmonton Trail here. What the hell they're doing?
Starting point is 00:46:32 It's actually not that bad. It's not the real place. Figure it out. Yeah, figure it out indeed. Ryan, back to you. Thank you, Dean. Pike bomb, Pike bomb. Very nerdy roster news here. It's full roster now after the activation.
Starting point is 00:46:44 Sharon Govich on the weekend, Hanzek, day to day and already skating. There's some whispers out there. You might be playing next in Utah. Well, and here's the thing. Kirkland is going to require waivers if he plays two more games. Come on, you can't do it. So you can tuck them back into the American League.
Starting point is 00:47:01 Talk it into your belt. You've already lost a Schwint. You wouldn't want to lose your Kirklands. What? And I'm actually kind of being, well, I'm serious. This is a very serious question. Kirkland plays two more games. He's played well.
Starting point is 00:47:16 Is anybody wanting them? And is it your duty to make him available? Do you know what I mean? Has he done enough to earn his? I don't know about that. I think he's plugged a hole that was decently. It's not like he's leading them
Starting point is 00:47:31 in hits and shots and an undeniable force, but he's doing his job well. He's being a role player. He's being a 13th, 14th forward. I think Hansik absolutely would play ahead of him until Hansik shows you he can't do it any longer at this level in the sense that, you know, there's a lot of excitement early.
Starting point is 00:47:48 These rookies usually hit a wall. If you lost Kirkland, you'd be even thinner at the center position organizationally. We've talked about it for months, how horrid the state of the center position is in the org. You're a Sam Morton, Hank Horton, Rory Karen's appearance away, which that's not where you want to be yet. You got deschinted, right?
Starting point is 00:48:07 So now we're having fun with it. But honestly, I think you are in a position. Get Klapka in there? You can't really two organizational centers to lose over the span of two or three weeks. No, thank you. No, thank you at all. And there would, it does raise the question. There's going to have to be a roster move.
Starting point is 00:48:27 You can't just activate Hansick. Someone's to go somewhere. They like the 8D. You've seen Hanley and Barry roll through. Doesn't like the 8D. I don't know what we're doing. And then is it okay? Is that Kirkland time to go down?
Starting point is 00:48:40 Would you entertain Hansick straight to the minors to play? Do you want to allow them a chance at the NHL level? Conditioning extent? Conditioning. Could do that in theory. Buy ourselves some time. And you've also got Pelchay playing very well down there. And that was probably the message.
Starting point is 00:48:51 Play well. and what are you going to do for me? I'll bring you back up. Well, because I was going to text you. I texted, well, was there an injury to Bean? Did something have because Hanley played a second straight and a second straight miss? I mean, Bean scores against Carolina. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:49:05 He's okay. And then I guess you want to get Hanley in the mix, but you got Barry kicking around. It's too many defense. There's a lot of six sevens, right? That's the thing. And so six sevens, you can probably rotate them. I think Pahal has been head and shoulders the best of the four, if you want to include Hanley, Bean, and Barry.
Starting point is 00:49:24 Young Rhett is really solidified himself. That's no McLeod Law. Hanley Bean and Barry? I don't trust those guys. Don't know. If you have legal issues, stay away from those. It's McLeod Law. If you got to scrum at the side of a net in a three-goal game,
Starting point is 00:49:36 I still not sure I want Hanley, Bean, and Barry. I'm not sure in what scenario I'm looking for Hanley, Bean and Barry, but definitely not with my legal affairs. That's a good point. Okay. We've got a nice little co-lab happening, and it started with the Justin Kirkland, who you just talked about is meteoric rise to Calgary
Starting point is 00:49:55 fame, albeit potentially short-lived. There is his wife Madison. She's British. She knows very little about hockey, but she is a beauty on the old Twitter and Instagrams. You heard about Ryan Longberg getting them married during COVID. He had like two cameras going, one
Starting point is 00:50:11 for each family. I don't know if I did know that. It's a pretty funny one. And there is the beginning of what might be the most awkward jersey for a long time or potentially the greatest cult hero of all time. It could be Rudy. We don't know how it ends yet. For those that aren't watching, someone went and got a blasty jersey with a 58 on the back and a Costco name bar. Now maybe that's an old Shillington and you just needed to re-label it.
Starting point is 00:50:35 How could they do that to all? I don't know. Yeah, geez. But it's not the only place that people are thinking about this co-lab. This is at Costco courtesy their TikTok accounts. They're printing off Justin and Costco name label. They got him one of the Kirkland huddies. Oh, baby. That's great. Yes, lean into it, people. The world doesn't have to be boring.
Starting point is 00:50:57 You can have some fun. Out of the flames of a side, Justin Kirklandmore. To Costco South, Glenmore Trail. He's on a conditioning state where I'll be running a forklift for two weeks. Would anyone like to buy a 58 Costco Flames jersey? No, is there not no high demand for that? I'll be stocking two kilogram boxes of nutmeg for the next week.
Starting point is 00:51:20 I will move. Last night, not a good night for the Edmonton Oilers. Anytime you see this, Oilers fans lose sleep. Opening shift to the game rat, 37 seconds in, looks very innocent. Left foot. Watch the left foot. And we'll get the slow mo, but it's a little trip. And the left foot kind of jams and then goes into the boards.
Starting point is 00:51:39 The right's foot's the one that gets tripped, but it's absolutely the left. Look at them go off the ice. And apparently is, ginger. So right's okay, right's okay. Left foot clunk. Wow. almost doubtiesk. Remember the doubty injury, how he went in?
Starting point is 00:51:56 Very much, yeah. It's high ankle sprainy. That does look very high ankle sprainy. Hopefully it's not a break or anything. We're in a boot that's pretty stiff. Break is better than a sprain, isn't it? That's what they say. Yeah. Well, it'd be a shame if it's a sprain. Ryan. What? Well, I'd be a shame. It's worse than if it's a break.
Starting point is 00:52:12 What? It's very compassionate of you, Ryan. You're suggesting. Just stop talking. Just stop talking. You're getting into. serious karma territory, not just professionally, but personally. Okay, okay, okay. F around, find out.
Starting point is 00:52:30 That's, yeah, don't do it. Fafo, okay. Got it? Fafo. Ryan, back to you. Thanks, Dean. Conner's people, his medical people and the Oilers, apparently meeting with him in Edmonton.
Starting point is 00:52:43 And yeah, that's a bit of a nightmare period, period indeed, Ryan Rishog. Three goals on six shots, McDavid, done for the night and traveling back to Edmonton. So that's, that's worth mentioning, too, right? he's not staying with them. They play in Nashville next. They're sending them home. So they play Nashville and then Calgary,
Starting point is 00:52:58 but he's back in Edmonton already. So obviously, best case scenario is he's not playing, you would think. You won't play in Nashville. Until they're back at home on it. It's November the 4th. If he needed to get to Calgary
Starting point is 00:53:09 and things were fine, that's fine. But it does. You don't get sent home off the road trip. It feels, it's got to be more than day to day. Fair? Can I ask?
Starting point is 00:53:18 Is he flying commercial? That's what I don't think so. I said that. last night. Do you think they hand him a West jet ticket? He's like, it's like Warner. Here's your room at the Renaissance. I think I'm just going to go at the dub.
Starting point is 00:53:33 Here's the thing. I don't know how many midnight flights to Calgary. They're out of Columbus or Edmonton even, because you know, no, that's clearly not. The other thing was people started scoring that I'd never even heard of. Like, this is quite something for the Oilers. Not good. Not good at all. As a Columbus team that we talked about yesterday,
Starting point is 00:53:52 had been sneaky good, that line with Monaghan again. Two goals for Monaghan. And this was five in a row to open the game. The tough guy, Matthew Olivier, he's got four this year already. And someone named M. Pai Hatia scored. Jesus, by a vowel, son. By consonant. What do we got there?
Starting point is 00:54:11 And so if you had Columbus plus one and a half of the money line, you were happy. So bad night for the oil. Which makes some people happy. Yeah. So there you are. League leaders, let's take a peek. We're ways into the season, fellas. What was it?
Starting point is 00:54:26 We're almost a month in. There's your goal leaders. Ecoeisha's got four on the power play. Kyle Connor, of course. All he does is score goals. Would you like fries with that? De Kutchev's still good at hockey. Sam Bennett, have a UFA season, son.
Starting point is 00:54:40 Bulls in five straight. Have a UFA season. And here's the thing. I'm sure he and the Panthers are traded numbers. Just keep raising yours every time you score more. You're on pace for 80. Ask for a lot. Good for him.
Starting point is 00:54:53 Great for him. And goal Caulfield, a good start in Montreal personally. You know what that is? Good karma. Switch the number to 13. He's scoring. Love it. And looking great.
Starting point is 00:55:04 Former teammate of Johnny Goddrow is coming up in the U.S. system. Mark Stone leads the league in points. He patted that total last night by one. Former flame. No, almost a flame. Oh, Michael. Kale McCar. Right.
Starting point is 00:55:19 The better brother. Michael. McCarland. Second in league scoring is a defense. Brother, brother, brother, brother, brother, brother, brother. Brother, brother. Kill doesn't have a brother. Uh, yeah, you're right. Reinhardt, McKinnon, Eichol, that those are some good starts to the season, fellas. Well done. They had Ryanhart's brother. Brother, brother.
Starting point is 00:55:35 Did they? Brother, brother, brother, brother. Brother, brother. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. They got to be, they got to do better brother homework. Yeah. Here's the dubious. No surprise that Connor Hella buck. They had the wrong Granland. Yeah, they did.
Starting point is 00:55:50 They had the wrong. The wrong stone. The wrong burray. Definitely the wrong burray. That's right. And who knows, maybe the wrong again. We'll see how it pans out. Oh, geez.
Starting point is 00:56:04 That's, screw you. Screw you. And by the way, Rasmus Anderson could be a Utah hockey clubber. If that's the case, if that's the better again, do anything it takes to get them. Goalies, Freddie Anderson's had a monster year. And as Freddie Anderson does, missed the game with injury yesterday.
Starting point is 00:56:22 No. Leading the league in state percentage and goals against. Very tidy start. Boy, maybe this is the year, Freddie. We have an announcement. Freddie Anderson's hurt. The wrong Niedermeiermeiermeier. Chris Chubes said the wrong Niedermeiermire.
Starting point is 00:56:34 Brother, brother, brother, brother, brother, brother, brother, brother. Damn it. Did they have the right Kachuk? I think they. Fellas. Yeah, I know. Come on. Great news, guys.
Starting point is 00:56:45 We drafted Meatermeyer. Any other brother? Just hit us in the comments. This is the defenseman or the forward. The forward. Just go sit outside. Let's take a look at the games tonight. Lighter slate on whatever day today is.
Starting point is 00:57:06 Flyers Bruns. You've got Seattle in Montreal, blues, senators, Ducks, Islanders. I'm really just reading names at this point. It'll be Mark Andre Fleury. Here it is. I knew there was something interesting in here. Mark Andre Fleury.
Starting point is 00:57:20 in Pittsburgh. That's going to be his last game ever in Pittsburgh. He is going to start. And already we're seeing the tributes on Penguin social media. It'll be a coronation for the flower. One of the guys at origin on Friday was going to Pittsburgh to watch the Monday nighter. And then this game. Is that right?
Starting point is 00:57:40 Was it Jack? Big Pittsburgh guy after all. Jack, you're back. You on the road. That would have been a hell of a trip. Yeah. I hope Pittsburgh gets. Oh, geez.
Starting point is 00:57:53 What are you talking about? Shut out for Flurry. Pittsburgh gets dominated. That actually would be going. They do stink. They really stink. I can't believe they signed Crosby. And the nightcap is the,
Starting point is 00:58:07 I can believe it. I signed them for 15 years. It's a terrible deal. I'll tell you that. Of course, Sid. I don't even know what there is to be said about it. It's terrible. And the Kings take on the Red Hot Sharks, they've won one in a row. Yes, they have streaking.
Starting point is 00:58:19 If they're like, Rangers, uh, Panthers. Rangers, Washington. Ah, shit. I don't want to watch that.
Starting point is 00:58:30 Yeah, the Washington's are a little dull. So I was going to say that could be a big East battle, but, uh, yes, sir. Here's the action you want tonight. And I might actually take the little weasels to this if they want to behave
Starting point is 00:58:39 for once. We've got Wranglers against the goals. San Diego at the dome tonight 7 p.m. Is that AI or who is that right? The picture there. Play, Albert. Who the have?
Starting point is 00:58:53 You can be plenty of burdows. This kid's hockey? That is the helmet logo of the... I'm a bet three, six, five guy. Personal. Let's just ignore that, Red. Jeez, come on now. Is that Coronado?
Starting point is 00:59:07 I believe it is. Big baseball game tonight. I am very sorry about the state of your Yankees, Dean. You have a good regular season. Beat up on some bad teams and they got to the World Series feeling good. God damn it. and I'm just looking. Aaron Judge has zero hits in the World Series.
Starting point is 00:59:33 The Yankees as a team hitting 186 in the series. It just fucking sucks. And as noted here by Ben Nicholson Smith, their free agents include Juan Soto, Gleber Torres, Clay Holmes, Alex Verdugo. That's not nothing. That's bad. Don't pile on him.
Starting point is 00:59:55 question for you. Do you send Stanton? Send. Stanton. What into the home for the tag at home place? Yes. He slows. Malac's on.
Starting point is 01:00:08 Yeah. And you just hit the pitcher. You just had four great at bats against him. And you send Stanton? Like it's the thing about Stanton is hammies are so like they're like we share hammies. Yeah. And people crush them.
Starting point is 01:00:24 Because he doesn't. Well, if they want as bad in the lineup, he can't run because he gets hurt if he runs. He kind of reminds you of a Clysdale, those big horses that are like the size of a two-story building. Because they're big and muscular and super strong, but you're like, no, no, that guy don't run fast.
Starting point is 01:00:39 Not built or speed. That guy's a toer. He's not a, how do you send him? How do you send him? This is a good point, pirate. I'm still, he was. Waiting for our Yankees highlight packs.
Starting point is 01:00:49 At that point, come on. Surely to fuck we can deal with this. Jeff in the comments. also agrees you're at horrible send you don't send them there you don't don't send can't send won't send don't send you know i kind of tilt to the glass half empty side you since when i tried my best i sat down all right three straight games at home here we go did you convince you sitting top of one nothing off oh can't watch this see many many people would a lifetime to watch their team in the World Series.
Starting point is 01:01:28 Not play like this. I know, but they're there and it's not over. Oilers fans didn't tune out after game three period one. No, they didn't. They flashed their things. Yes. Got on a roll. Jammers went down to the bridge, got famous, took off the clothes for Playboy and went on spitting chicklets, and they all the way to game seven.
Starting point is 01:01:48 So you need to actually don't do those things. You got to go all in on this, boom. Come on. There is a recipe for success. Flash those odds again. Yeah. I'll say this. Coming back from 3 O against the Dodgers,
Starting point is 01:02:04 be unbelievable. There you go. See? That's the positivity we need. And look who's favored tonight. Bottom right. The money line, Yankees minus 150.
Starting point is 01:02:14 Huge favorite. Same as last game. Huge. Same as last game. Now it's a bullpen game for the Dodgers today. I haven't seen a start of this for anyone. Have you? I feel like this is the point of the series
Starting point is 01:02:25 where you're just, if guys are even a start a game, I don't know what the F that even means, but I heard it last night, so it's a bullpen. It means we're so unintimitated right now by this team. We're just going to throw it a bunch of dusters. We're going to rest are really good pitchers. You know what?
Starting point is 01:02:40 We're going to be so tricky. You're never going to same pitch twice. The next time you'll be a different pitcher. It might even be thrown from the other side. Different number, different mustache, everything. Let's take a look at the fantasy football standings. Another week in the book, Steen, and in the Media Hacks League, we have,
Starting point is 01:02:55 look at this neutered dad that's myself two hole behind I noticed we didn't see these last year when you were the shits we did actually I'm showing myself in the bottom Dean third place well done Jack you've fallen off to 500 I need a statement about your four and four Antonio clown I played a dead guy this week
Starting point is 01:03:14 T.J. Hawkinson oh that doesn't help I'm in too many leagues like there's way too many things going on I can't keep track of everything how many are you in yeah how many are you in You do have a busy life. I do have a busy life. I'm in four or five. Yeah, you can't go more than I twos my max.
Starting point is 01:03:30 I'm in four this year. It's too many. It's too many. Because you can't be sharp in all of them. And then some of them you're like, ah, this team sucks anyway. I got to focus my attention over here. I've been one.
Starting point is 01:03:39 I'm here in right. There is 13th out of 14. He has one more point recorded than last place. Get, get ready for the moss pit, right? That's going to be fun for you. We'll send you up with the camera. We'll get you a nice motel. It's a nice motel.
Starting point is 01:03:53 McDavid's hurt. They're not making the playoffs. To McDavid get hurt? We've talked about it. It is something that's curious. Where are we out on this? I don't want to, again, the Carmel thing, but this is a recipe for disaster.
Starting point is 01:04:08 And finally, Rhett and Dean, I know you're a big baker. And I know Rand Candle's a big baker, yeah. And I know Rhett is a big doper. Do you guys ever co-lab on hash brownies? Well, we're not going to tell you. Okay, yeah, listen.
Starting point is 01:04:27 This guy did. Let's find out what's up here. His dad's... Where did you get those brownies? Where did you get those brownies? Back in the fridge. Right. Okay. How many have you eaten? Hmm. Nice to do it. Okay. Okay. I don't want you to worry, but those had hash in them, like a lot of hash. Those are my birthday hash brownies. You're taking drugs. No, no. I hadn't taken them. I haven't taken them. I'm taking them.
Starting point is 01:04:49 I'm basically saying what? You've eaten a whole box of hash brownies. What's going to happen? Um, probably nothing. Fucking hell. Dad, Dad. What are you doing? Got the shops. Did that ever happen at the old bun bakery, Dean? No, we're pretty good at keeping.
Starting point is 01:05:13 No weed buns, no hash buns. We've got canisters for everything. Right. It's very clearly labeled. Separated and childproof and all the, yeah. The hair makes that. It really does. The hair really does help that shot.
Starting point is 01:05:27 Got the Ernie McCracken vibes. Yeah. From Kingpin. Yeah, because, hey, he might have his shirt off. could be hot we have no idea hard to tell but the hair kind of gave uh he look kind of actually looks like uh what do they call him from uh back to the future doc yeah a little bit of the doc vibes well he's definitely time traveling right there 100% yeah that guy where sonos playing next year he in 2024 uh let's go to some uh aerobics at the park i know ret loves this he's on the road
Starting point is 01:05:58 and you don't have your normal gym pass so you can just go work out at the park Do a little. That might not even be funny. That's a spine on the railroad tie. And that kind of looks like concrete. I'm hoping it's rubber. I don't like my chances of being. It wasn't a lot of give.
Starting point is 01:06:18 No. No. Didn't look supportive. You guys ever wonder who'd win in a fight between a hippo and a water buffalo? Every day, Ryan. Well, that's why we're here on the Pinder report so that you can sleep better tonight. Let's have a look. The jaw,
Starting point is 01:06:34 I'm rat. Water Buffalo. Water buffalo is like, I am so out of here. I thought I was tough. All it took was one chomp. See ya. Look at that. Wow.
Starting point is 01:06:44 Jeez. You can fit a Buick in his mouth. I don't think that there's many that can take out the old hippo. I agree, Rhett. I may have to go back to an old take that I had and take it back. But hippos in the water versus land? No, this, I had the, because I've done more research since. Okay.
Starting point is 01:07:04 I think a lot more with the internet. that has come to, uh, come to light. I, my, my take was that put me and a hippo at McMahon's stadium. Yeah. Because of how I can, I can,
Starting point is 01:07:17 I can turn tight for the hippo. I don't think they can turn as tight. If you're in the water, it's tough because as we've seen those, those videos, his home turf. Woo. Like they're amazing swimmers.
Starting point is 01:07:27 But I felt like if he's chasing me, I could just kind of do the ole and kind of get away from. He's going to tire himself out at some point. Right. I figure I'm going to, it's going to be boomer one, hippo, thing. I've aged
Starting point is 01:07:38 wiser since I'd be worried that I'd pull something I'm hauled and then sorry you're worried about your own foot speed decreasing or are you learning more about the hippo's prowess? It's a little of both. Okay. The hippo I underestimated the just the sheer killing ability of the hippo. It's the most feared animal in the
Starting point is 01:07:57 almost in the world, right? It's it really is. It's a sneaky one. You're like, what that fat thing, that overgrown pig? Here, boy. Oh, let's give you a Oh, look at his ball. Oh, look at his, look at his. Back a couple comments. Have you ever Olayed anything or anyone? He's drank a few.
Starting point is 01:08:16 Those are in the summertime on the beach. Oh, wow. I really like that, Marjorie. Walmas are so good. You're a seasoned O'Lear? No, I don't know that I've ever been put in a position to Olay. Halloween's coming. I feel like you and a, what are those people called the O'Lears,
Starting point is 01:08:35 the conquistadors At the doors At the doors Luchadors You are a lichadorian And a madatorian I think you've got your Halloween outfit Comedars French adores
Starting point is 01:08:48 Swinging adores Well listen And Ryan You get a hippo You get a hippo to McMahon Stadium I'll show up and I'll go through with it But I don't want to speak at your funeral That's the only stipulation
Starting point is 01:09:02 I'm willing to take back Maybe I was a little bit overzealous in my ability to We're getting some reaction in the comments. I'd like to go live with this, Jack, if you don't mind. Because people noting that hippos kill more humans than any other animal in Africa. This is what I'm learning. Undisputed heavyweights.
Starting point is 01:09:20 I mean, I do understand you're bringing them out of the water and under your home turf, but this is a dangerous animal. Very dangerous. Hippos can run 30 miles an hour. Now, again, I'm not saying, we're not doing straight lines. I'm saying if you're going to be able to There to see You are scared shirtless of sharks
Starting point is 01:09:41 And you are like I take my chance I'm not going in the water It's the water thing The water Put a shark at McMahon Stadium I'm not going to be scared of that prick I mean that's like yeah
Starting point is 01:09:52 I'm going to have to see some video proof Of your elusivity Well Kind of bragging it up It is a bit of a humble bray I don't know that it's not really a brag It was just kind of you know Bringing the hippo
Starting point is 01:10:09 Down to Earth a little bit Hey, take them down. Just come, you know, everyone's Oh, killing machines. All right. Yeah. Let's maybe get on get on our turf a little bit. I might, you know what? I may not take it back. That doesn't sound like you're walking that back at all.
Starting point is 01:10:25 It sounds like you're just digging the trench even deeper. You're stuck in it. I mean, who's throwing these out, right? I bet you it's the hippo. It's big hippo, right? That's letting all these. Yeah, the big hippo lobby. Got a little dough.
Starting point is 01:10:36 Yeah. They're not, uh, sharks. Sharks, they want no, none of this PR. The hippo's happy to let you hear about it. Have you seen, you know, there was a Jaws movie. What about Hippo? No. Is there a hippo movie?
Starting point is 01:10:46 Big hippo wants none of that. They want you to think they're just big cute piglets that are like 10,000 pounds. A hippo movie just to make people aware. That's right. A hippo awareness movie. They're killing machines, are they? And we won't have the funny yogurt, Dwayne Johnson to play the lead, so you'll do it. Hollywood.
Starting point is 01:11:04 Hollywood doesn't seem to think so. Hippo against boom boom, boom. We've seen snakes on a plane. we've seen Jaws. MF and snakes up like. Right? All these other killing machines.
Starting point is 01:11:14 They got hurricanes and tornadoes full sharks. Yeah. It's a lot, Red. I don't know whether I feel bad for the hippo or whether I think it's a bunch of shit. Did you see that a bear that did a bunch of cocaine? That was a movie. Why got nothing on hippos?
Starting point is 01:11:26 What was the megaladon? Is that like a, what is that? Yeah, that's a super shark thing. It's a dinosaur shark. Nothing on hippo. Could probably kick his ass. Maybe that's why the hippo, the death numbers are up. They've had enough.
Starting point is 01:11:38 They're just not taking it anymore. That's, we need, if we are going to be recognized globally as killing machines, we need to start all, we need to get all in. Everybody, are we up? Who's killing today? Say I, oh, oh, ho, ho. I don't know what hippo sounds. So that's what's happened.
Starting point is 01:11:58 There has been a concerted effort. There's been a drive put together by Big Hippo. Let's go get, let's everybody do some killing today. Are we up for it? We're making a statement. I guess they'll, Lots coming in on the comments. Hipples are not to be trifled with.
Starting point is 01:12:13 A bad attitude around 9,000 pounds. A mouth that opens four or five feet. Giant teeth, 30 miles an hour running. That's a recipe of a bleeping killing machine. J.C. Remember when they ate the, I've seen the videos of them eating like pumpkins and watermelon. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 01:12:31 The baby. Another one coming in, hippos bigger assholes than kangaroos. That's a huge development. Well, listen, I, wow. I need facts. This is the big hippo lobby. hiding all the hippo videos. We only have videos of kangaroos being assholes. None of hippos. Let's get a fist fight with a hippo. Yeah. Hippos lives
Starting point is 01:12:47 matter. I haven't seen that before. See, the hippo thing, if you get them on their haunches, I feel like you're going to have the reach advantage potentially because I think they're kind of, you know, they got their stubby hippo feet and legs. Yeah. It's not a bit, Brad. Not everything's a bit. you think I'm just all for shits and giggles, I'll talk about taking on a hippo at McMahon Stadium. You don't throw that kind of
Starting point is 01:13:15 stuff out there unless you're serious about it. Ready to back it up. And I'll take on all hippo comers. My world's fastest cow, you don't see them doing the hippo stuff. Never. Too dangerous. We've been sleeping on the hippos. We're going to be watching hippo videos for the next.
Starting point is 01:13:31 I was just going to say we are now open for hippo submissions on the PIN report. Thank you, Dean. Appreciate that. And finally, But we've all seen that one video, right, of the hippo that comes off and goes into the water and starts chasing that boat. Have you seen it? Oh, my Lord. Ret, you've seen it. I have seen it.
Starting point is 01:13:49 No. This is all how, what? Guys. It's big hippo. You need to get in the, get in the, what are you doing in your lives? Like fantasy football? Too many teams? You have nothing else in your life?
Starting point is 01:14:03 I don't have enough hippo. I got too much fantasy football. You're fantasy football teams. Not enough hippo. More hippo research. Too much curling, not enough hippo racing. Guys are killers. You'll be a grocery store one day.
Starting point is 01:14:16 Someone's asking us to go look up hippo farting videos. Okay, we're good. I'm in for that. That's two of my favorite things. Back to me, Dean. Back to me, Dan. Jack and his buddies have been pooling their money from his sensational spread picks. And, you know, they're online gaming victories and such.
Starting point is 01:14:34 And look what they've got for next song. Chat, attack. Look at this. This is their fellows. They're in their 20s. They're young men. Nothing better at that age than getting together with your buddies. Those are awesome.
Starting point is 01:14:47 Don't stop the video. I want this a real going forever. So we gotta pick one each. Hang on, hang on. So the upside to this, as opposed to just building one, is what you have water by your feet. Yeah. What's a pool and it's a bar. Sit down to pee.
Starting point is 01:15:02 Do you me explain this to you? I see. I mean, I'm just. You can just build a backyard bar. Well, then it tested winter. All right. I'm sorry. You can't even enjoy nice things now.
Starting point is 01:15:15 I love it. You're going to S talk. I'm not S talking. Did you see the yellow and black one? That's Jacks because he loves the Steelers. You saw it. It's obvious. That's the one.
Starting point is 01:15:25 What do you call it? Russell's restaurants or? They got lights in there. Yeah. You should have heard these two going back and forth. Mostly it was pender. No, no, no. Poor Jack.
Starting point is 01:15:35 Jack's just trying to. be happy about his Steelers. It doesn't end. Ryan's the biggest Steelers hater. They win last night and he immediately texts me, the Steelers are mid. Who have they beaten? Like he's just smashing Jack while he's trying to enjoy a win. But it might be good. I just haven't seen it yet. Enjoy the pool bar though, Jack. Yeah, the yellow and black one. Look real nice. Those look really fun.
Starting point is 01:15:56 Yeah. That's PIN report on Tuesday, guys. And please, HIPPO submissions at Jack at the Nation Network. New in-stock inventory of course. 25s are in. Start your automotive adventures at Village Honda. New vehicle pricing is always MSRP. Stretch lease available for the CRV, the HRV, and the Civic. And yes, get the vehicle in for a service. Get it up to, maybe you're not looking right now.
Starting point is 01:16:21 That's fine. The vehicle you have, make sure that it's ready for winter. You guys will like this. Did you not even mention the football game? Like there was a Monday night football game last night. Jack's team, the Jack Ometer. Pretty irrelevant. It's a decent team against the shite team.
Starting point is 01:16:36 what we thought happened, happened. No big deal. Couldn't even make the Pinder report, the Monday nighter? Oh, we got the Jack Ommas. I figured that'd be its own standalone, but yeah. All right. I mean, just thinking about hippos. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:16:47 Okay, so we'll get into that. There's about two or three things I need to hit here before we, before we get out of here. Outdoor dental. I bet you hippos snores. I'm sure they do. Those gills are all spread out. Oh, they got their big yaps, their big trap open.
Starting point is 01:17:03 It's like, that's soft ballad. That's a flab. They're like, yeah, they get 18 kilograms of soft palate. That's right. You might have to go for three. Yeah, they need three sessions. For the mortal man, two 15-minute treatments at outdoor dental. Right.
Starting point is 01:17:17 Tightening of the soft palate, that could reduce or eliminate your snoring. It's not, doesn't say anything in here about hippos. It might be three. You don't call them if you got a hippo. Yeah. Or go to the website outdoor. And how are they going to get online with their big stupid hoofs? It's impossible.
Starting point is 01:17:32 Yeah. Is it heath? If you have two hoofs, is heaf? hooves. Dentistry with no needles, no stress, Solea laser. Dr. J. Patel invested big time in the Solaya laser and it's not just effective and the best thing going for your dental work. It also has been proven to help with snoring. Two 15 minute treatments increases the tension in the soft palate, non-surgical pain free. You sleep better, you feel better, more sleep, quality sleep, people around you sleep better. It's worth it. I mean, 10 times over. And you put
Starting point is 01:18:06 your benefits. Yeah, sure. Right. That's beauty. Outdoor. Dental is the website. Barnburner folk have been going there for years. He's an OG, is Dr.
Starting point is 01:18:15 J with Barnburner. We appreciate them. Outdoor. Dot dental.com is the website. So we'll get to the jackometer in a moment, but first with Jack. So last night, we are doing after Burner.
Starting point is 01:18:27 Oh, where, Rhett can't leave. This is right up, this show. Well, Rhett, really, but yeah. See there? Where'd you go? There you are.
Starting point is 01:18:43 Where'd you go? Don't be going away. It crapped out again. That's, yeah, sure. So last night, when the, the, the, Jack is on afterburner with myself and Gould. And because we kind of elaborated, there's, you know, 5-0, kind of a beat down, a lot of analysis.
Starting point is 01:19:01 So we were taking some questions off the, the thing there. And a guy near the end, he says, the most important question is, how much salt do you use in the water to brine your pork chops? So we kind of got into the talk about your, you're going to, it's your pork chops, but also your chicken, also turkey. I mean, you're not doing, you're not just taking this food and throwing it right on the grill or in the oven without doing some brining.
Starting point is 01:19:21 It's super easy. It makes a huge difference. And Jack, what happened? Because we started talking about food. And the game was an eight o'clocker. So 10.30, this is like 11, 11, 15. What time did we kind of wrap the show last night? Because we went like an hour last night.
Starting point is 01:19:34 Yeah, closer to midnight. Yeah. It's closer to midnight by the time we wrapped the show. and what happened during the show while we were discussing, like you got up in the middle of the show? Yeah, so you guys started talking about food, pork chops, and then I just decided that I was hungry. So I went into the freezer,
Starting point is 01:19:51 grabbed some frozen chicken wings, threw them in the air friar, and I came back five minutes later, and they were still talking about the pork chops. Yeah. So. So frigging Jack, Jack gets hungry at 1150 p.m.
Starting point is 01:20:04 As you do when you're 20s, yeah. And he's producing the show, I'm just going to. take my cans off, go down to the deep freeze, grab some wings, fire them in the air fryer, come back. Yeah, they're still talking. It's fine. No, if you started bringing up food, you used to get a five minute. I knew that was five, ten minute conversation. So funny. I was through that gap. You're fine, yeah. Okay. Yeah. Well, played. How were they? Delicious. Did that have anything to do with your subpar, uh, just kind of your whole thing this
Starting point is 01:20:28 morning when you came in? Yeah, Jack, how's going? Yeah. Late night food. I don't know. Yeah, it doesn't say older. I'm just, late night food's a bad idea. I mean, if you're hammering, great idea. Get a base. So great. Sober? No. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:20:41 So half the time. Who's making a racket over there? Tell them respect the program. I don't want to mess with those people. A couple hippos rolling around there. Some old. Be nice. What?
Starting point is 01:21:00 I don't know what kind of actually got down there. I got food being delivered by Jack. Wow. That's good. Jack, could you deliver some food to us to? Um, no. Bet 365 is the world's largest sports betting platform. Open an account today with Bet365.
Starting point is 01:21:19 Huge reins your markets, but really it's about the app. The app makes it so easy. It's up to date. It's, I mean, you think about all the apps you use on it, whether daily or whatever, but if they all worked as well as the Bet 365 app, the world will be a better place. Uh, use the promo code right there. Nation, when you sign up,
Starting point is 01:21:38 And a little love for you there from Bet365. So whatever the moment, it's never ordinary at Bet365. I've got a couple of bets for tonight. Let's look at the baseball game. What happened last night? Yankees are favorite at minus 150? Dodgers won. Yeah, they were.
Starting point is 01:21:56 What's happening tonight? Yankees are favorite at minus 150. I'm playing the Dodgers money line at plus 125. Freddie Freeman has been a world beater. Look at the over one and a half total bases. Plus 160? a single double and he hits the over? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:22:12 Dingers. That's four bases. That'll work too. Those are our bets. I really want to talk about it. I don't really want to talk more karma for Pinder. Just picking on people. I don't really want to talk about our point spread picks that we do every week either.
Starting point is 01:22:29 Felt pretty good going into the fourth quarter on pretty much all of them. But let's take a look as the records are in. Oh. Oh. Even at 12 and 12. Rett jumps up to 15, 8, and 1. Wow. Pinder 14, 9 and 1 and Jack.
Starting point is 01:22:47 Jack, what's going on? Almost lapping the field here. Another 3 and 0 weekend. And 6. God, that's good. And you, they were trying to keep up. I know it's hard. 3 and 0, Red?
Starting point is 01:23:02 Yeah, Rhett went 3 and 0. Jack 3 and 0. I'm 2 in 1. Boom 1. 1 2. All right. I'll stand by this as a show because there's a lot of other shows
Starting point is 01:23:14 you go out and chat. These guys are terrible. These guys don't know what they're talking about. There's at least three people here that seem to know what they're talking about. Dude, 500 is very fine because you've left yourself half a season to be better than 500. You're darn right. Brian, you're good at math.
Starting point is 01:23:26 What's our winning percentage? Collectively. Now, the other thing that we do is the jackometer. We wrote a roller coaster of emotions last year with Jack. It's just with Jack, he's a big Steelers guy. And the wins are great. The losses are crushing. And it was a lot of crushing losses it felt like last week, last year.
Starting point is 01:23:48 Now, Pittsburgh last night, another victory for Russ, letting Russ cook. To ride. And they get a big win to improve to six and two, Jack. Six and two. It's a tidy record. Let's take a look now. A big drop there. Up, up, up.
Starting point is 01:24:05 Oh. There's the problem. Is it not? a win over the jets propelled you back from a five all the way to a nine massive win. You said the biggest in years. Yes. Yeah. Now another big, would we say convincing win?
Starting point is 01:24:21 They left some points out there. But I mean, the one touchdown to, because there's the one that goes to Pickens with the two feet, one feet thing that doesn't count. Yeah. There was the other one to Pickens where they called it back. Yeah, face mask on a face mask. So yeah, there, there was points left out there in the first. half, but I thought overall, another strong game, but the problem is I'm at a
Starting point is 01:24:42 nine, so how can I? That is for me. It's kind of what we said. Yeah. It's like, again, you just played the two New York teams. Like, those are horsesher teams. And the question I guess you would have is, if they were going to the Super Bowl, if there were two teams remaining, one of them was the Steelers, where would the jackometer potentially be? I think it's out of 10. If
Starting point is 01:25:02 AFC North, I'm out of 10. AFC North, or AFC Final, sorry. Okay. I can't go up anymore now unless they drop like 70 points then I might. And so they're into buy or they have Washington? Yeah, they're in a buy now.
Starting point is 01:25:15 They could have went down one this week. I could have. Can the jackometer move during the buy? No, I feel like it could. Absolutely. Some injuries or some trades. You watch Washington play. You're like, God damn it.
Starting point is 01:25:28 Whether that's good or bad, you get adjust for sure. Maybe they changed their starting quarterback again. Mike Tomlin can't do anything wrong. Yeah. He's the man. Were they four and two? and he switched his quarterback. Yep.
Starting point is 01:25:39 I've gone 400 yards offense, both games. Oh, unlike Ryan, I'm happy for my friend Jack. Thank you, Dean. His football team is getting wins. His spirits are high. And unlike Ryan,
Starting point is 01:25:52 I'm happy for him to be here at work and enjoying himself and... I'm starting to learn Ryan just likes to argue. This is correct. You're just picking this up. Yeah. It's been a year and change. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:26:04 What? Yeah, wait. Hot. cold bright dark Harry I mean this is new it's three wins over 2 and 6 2 and 6 2 and 6 2 and 6 2 and 6
Starting point is 01:26:18 What are they going to do? Can't put any playoffs Right of quarterback lost to Dallas Like that's the thing they haven't beaten great teams But there's also teams that you would put above them That have lost to bad teams as well Like Baltimore is Baltimore world beaters I don't think so stop Not doing it Ryan
Starting point is 01:26:35 Moratorium. Just let them have it. Can you just let them have it? Six and two is a wonderful record, Jack. I'm happy for you. Back to you. Very good, Jack. Very, very, very good.
Starting point is 01:26:52 You got us all. Whatever the moment, it's never ordinary at Bet365. Use that promo code nation when you sign up. That's very good is right. Go, Dutch. Well done. Well done. So what's up for the day, retro?
Starting point is 01:27:06 I don't know. I just got some Zah delivered. I'm going to stuff in the face. What do we got on there? Can we get a visual? Don't be arena Zah, better than Arena Zah. What do we do?
Starting point is 01:27:17 Hang on one sec. Don't go to what to me yet. Just, okay. Discuss amongst yourselves. Yeah, yeah. Take them off screen, Jack. Cut us, Mike. Thanks, Steve.
Starting point is 01:27:25 So now. Do you get a curling update? Because we're very, very happy. No, I don't. Actually. Not unlike Jack. We've played horrible competition. and have been racking up wins.
Starting point is 01:27:37 And we're getting cocky. So I didn't want an update, but yet I got it anyway. There it is. I always count on it. All right. Show me. Oh, my God. It's a jackel at it.
Starting point is 01:27:54 Is that what it is? Huh? It's a banana pepper thing there. Look at that. It's a pumpkin. It really is. Smiling pumpkin, right? Smiling pumpkin pizza.
Starting point is 01:28:06 This is a little different. It's not quite the heart-shaped pizza at Valentine's Day. Look how happy he is. How happy he is happy. Yeah. Show us that smile. So is that, is that rink pizza or is it from outside? That's from outside.
Starting point is 01:28:18 Yeah. Did I tell you about last year's pizza in Buffalo? They actually had a skull. It was like a. It wasn't shaped. It was a, it was a skull. I don't like skulls. Yeah, I don't try not to eat skulls.
Starting point is 01:28:33 I've talked with, I mean, for you. Halloween, I'm just, it's this, I don't get the lure. You're going to be scared. You're going to be. Coffee crisp, Pop webs and dark and the allure. Coffee crisp. That's an A1 chocolate bar, Rhett.
Starting point is 01:28:49 It really is. It's a superb chocolate bar. You know what I was thinking? And I messaged him last night, our buddy, Adnan, Virk. The prime coverage of the Jets and Leafs last night. He was in Winnipeg. Have you been watching any of that?
Starting point is 01:29:02 How's it looking? Yeah, it's all right. I mean, I don't know. It's. Because I was where? I haven't seen one. I'm waiting. And last night, obviously, it was a world series, football, and hockey.
Starting point is 01:29:16 And it was like, okay, well, I'm not going to watch that one. I'm actually kind of excited to see it because it's kind of been a monopoly on the national broadcasting rights, if you haven't noticed, and to see some other people operate and other ways of doing things. I know the documentary series that sort of got the hype around it was that access is unparalleled. So I'm kind of curious. Yeah, I didn't really, it was, I had it on and then I was football. Yeah, it was a big bouncer on that. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:29:38 But I'm happy that there is a potential for other ways of doing it. Yeah, yeah. Fresh ideas, perhaps. Well, and one particular company has increasing costs every year, and they've been cutting costs, they're getting worse and no pregame shows. So see someone else actually invest in it. It's kind of nice. And before we leave, it is time for RET's top five.
Starting point is 01:30:01 Oh, Rets top five, low, low, I, something, Lull is in Rett's top five. Alberta arenas. Oh, Alberta arenas. I really like, now, are we city-based or my trap? The whole province, right? The whole province. And I was almost going to see, I think probably talking rural or whatever you want, Saddle Dome or whatever they call that thing up there.
Starting point is 01:30:27 It's apparently the new ring, well, I haven't been there, so I'm going, it's number five, is that silent ice arena in Niskew is supposed to be silent ice. Yes. It's supposed to be unbelievable. Can I explain that to me? Look it up. Is that the name of the company? I thought it was called the Silent Ice Arena. There's a company that's called that.
Starting point is 01:30:50 So it's. So they're in their money. Niskew. Yes. All right. So you don't know anything about it. You've never been to it, but it jumps in it. It's that interesting.
Starting point is 01:31:00 Number five. I'm telling you, everyone raves about it. This is like the Clippers' new arena. But for kids hockey, you know, Right. Okay. Number four. Where are the Sutter's from?
Starting point is 01:31:14 Viking. Viking. Straight out to Viking. That rank, dynamite and the crispy chicken, buffalo chicken wrap. Phenomenal. Not the first time I heard that. Kids played at seven chiefs the other day, loved it. The big rink, not the small, shitty rink beside it, but that nice big ring, they thought they were all big timers.
Starting point is 01:31:37 Yeah, they were. Yeah. Number two. Two? Number two. Island ice, Viking, seven chiefs. I'll tell you what. I've had some great meals and some great beers at the Flames Community Arena.
Starting point is 01:31:54 FCA, it's a beauty. Oh, it's so good. I have done it and I've enjoyed it. So I'm going to give that. I put it some shifts there. It is awesome. What? I'm trying to think of the town and I'm going to say, it's not Wayne Wright.
Starting point is 01:32:07 It's east of Calgary through Strathmore, Dean. You're going to remember it. The best soup going. The ladies from the local town make the soup. It's not Bassano, is it? It's not Bassano. It's out in that. There's a rural rink out there and the food is, is.
Starting point is 01:32:29 Yeah. I was hoping you remembered because I knew what you were going to say and I can't remember. Standard Chancellor, Hussar. Lasar. Haasar. Ha, Saar. That's what it is. Hasar.
Starting point is 01:32:41 That's it. Yes. And it is great. Get the soup. All homemade foods in there. Maybe. Number one. Surprise you don't know.
Starting point is 01:32:53 Top five. There it is. Rett's top five. It's good one today. You'd like to sponsor. Rett's daily top five. Contact. I don't know why I have to answer my top five, but other people are giving the topic.
Starting point is 01:33:05 Wow. You didn't have your submitted today. So we just tried to help you. You never asked. But you know what it is? Do you have a top five? But you're so cultured. It's a look into your brain and into your life.
Starting point is 01:33:16 Yeah. I'm fascinated by it. You know, you want to know how cultured I am, Dean? I brined pork jobs this week. So how did you? And I got to tell you,
Starting point is 01:33:27 I got to tell you, my kids, ecstatic. I bet about the porch. Unbelievable. Really? I don't like pork chops. Don't like pork chops.
Starting point is 01:33:37 But those were good, dad. You know what it is? People don't like pork chops because usually they're thin and dried. Dry. Yeah, it's leather. You get a good. You know what?
Starting point is 01:33:47 Juicy. Here's my, here's my dare. Here's my challenge to you. Go into a place like Bon Ton meats and say, hey, can you cut me some pork chops? Yeah. You're always going to go steak. You're going to go beef. Get a nice thick pork chop from a butcher shop like Bon Ton.
Starting point is 01:34:01 Brine that, son of a bitch. And then enjoy yourself. But don't overcook it. Don't overcook it. don't. So the way you can run it over. Once those, you know,
Starting point is 01:34:13 the butterfly chops, they start doing this, they start all curling up. Yep. Just throw it out. See it. If you, if you've got it.
Starting point is 01:34:21 Yeah. No good. Cumping on pepperoni, though, that's a different kind of. Totally. Yes. Culture.
Starting point is 01:34:27 I mean, he's got a pizza shaped like a jackalander. There was a joint where I'm at. I looked at a, a, a menu.
Starting point is 01:34:37 And they had just, fried pepperoni. Cupped. Really? Yep. Wow. Some dip. Got a couple NFL notes if you'd like before we.
Starting point is 01:34:49 I'd love it. Stefan Diggs, ACL done for the year. Damn it. Houston. They already lost Nico Collins. Is he done for the year or just a bit? No. No, he'll be back.
Starting point is 01:34:57 Yeah. So that's tough news for them. Tankdale time stand up. And then the other one is the Colts benching anti- Richardson and going back to Joe Flacco. Are they? Yes. After he did the, yeah, I'm just.
Starting point is 01:35:10 tired, I'm going to take a rest. That was a huge story yesterday, retro. It was in the NFL was. Richardson on a play where it looked like maybe he kind of jammed his hip or his leg, he gets up, does the helmet tap to say, hey, I need swap me out. Thing is, that doesn't really happen for quarterbacks. Yeah, right? Like a running back. Yeah. Receivers, the odd time. Sure. Yeah. And then in the post game, he says, well, I'm going to, I'm going to lie to you. I was pretty tired right there. And everyone else was saying, Just for the record, I think, do lie to us next time. That's the worst look you could ever have.
Starting point is 01:35:44 Sorry, you were, just lie to us. Yeah, I was tired. God, I was gasped. You're 22. You know what he should have said. Oh, man, my lung, I just, oh, go, there was something weird and I just wanted to reset. Honesty is the best. No, honesty is the best policy.
Starting point is 01:36:00 I appreciate his honesty. That's great. Well, so do they. They benched. Yeah. It's tired. They have to bench. So tired.
Starting point is 01:36:08 Yeah. I had a lot of that idea. Oh, really? Then, you know, you're off the most. Then you're fine. Well, that's good news for Flacco Nation. I think everyone loves Joe Flacco. Fun story.
Starting point is 01:36:21 Sure. You know? It's weird. We didn't like him when he was the starter for the Ravens. No. But now he's older, significantly older. Who doesn't like Joe Flacco? It's a nice, nice story.
Starting point is 01:36:35 The, uh, we like it when people beat the odds. right? It's like the whole Jack Adams thing. As soon as we expected nothing from Flacco and he delivered, we loved it. When we expected him to be very good, we were disappointed. All Red is doing right now is like, I just like, please shut the hell up and let me stop talking
Starting point is 01:36:53 so I can eat my... So, Rhett, who is your favorite teammate? Hell of good. Hey, buddies.
