Hello buddies. Welcome to Barnbiter. Welcome to a new age we call the intranet. It's a brand new technology and we're excited about it. Can't wait to get started on this brand new venture. This is a microphone that we'll be talking into. You're watching us on probably a monitor of some sort. We will learn as we go along. We'll figure these things up. There are kinks and we're going to iron them out. That's what you do with kinks. It's you get them and then you hire them out. I have very capable people that I've got beside me to join me on this on this venture please to join, be joined by a good friend Ryan Hinder. You know, we were saying this shot if you're watching us on YouTube, the shot, it looks like we're oddly like there's the bookcase thing there but see it's not we're not sitting on each other's a lap there's separation it's not it's not weird.

If I reach out because it's not you no it's not great. Hey, is it intranet? That's exciting. The intranet. Yeah, what, uh, I've heard some things about this. What can you? It's a web. It's a web. It's a web and it spans the world. It's a worldwide, a world, worldwide, maybe is what I know. Okay. It's wide. It covers the world. That's got to be wide. It's covered the world. So that's what we're, uh, that's what we're doing.

So we could bring someone in from around the world. Yeah. From here in our city. Sure. Right. Yeah. Yeah. Another country, another world. That's that's that. That's the thing about the internet. Oh, that's not. So Pinder, myself, and our good friend, we welcome Red Warner as well to the program, who, of course, you heard this show before.

He was very rarely in studio. So this is nothing new, but again, with podcast, is that what it's called? The Intranet, the internet podcast of the world that we're in. Red Warner is also going to be part of the show. So excited to welcome Red. Haven't seen him in a long time. Looking forward to seeing him again.

Because he's not in this room. Well, I don't know. He loves being at home. He doesn't leave his basement. He, there he is. Like that. Well, ladies and gentlemen. Just what we didn't want was a bad, slow start, and you guys have nailed it.

I don't know why you're, there's nothing wrong. There's nothing. Everything's fine. Why would you bring? Boone's going to start. That's what goes. He's the host. Energy.

You guys are supposed to say. Energy. Positive vibes, plenty of energy. I had on my notes, just basically, how did we get here? And I don't really, nice of both, see how I'm nicely dressed I am today? I put on my best, my best stuff. Warner, you got a cowlick, Pinder, you've got some kind of a, I'm not sure what you've got. I thought this was a big day.

It's supposed to be a big deal, it's a big day. Does it not matter to anybody else besides me? Is that what it is? I think the whole thing looks good. I mean, I can't speak for red, but I don't. This is this doll here. We're looking sharp now. Are you in a basement? Is that what you're doing? It's somewhat basementy, yeah.

You want to look around? You got to zoom out or how do we do that? You've got a nice studio. Yeah. Yeah, that's nice. Well, we'll hang on. We'll get into the particulars of that. But here we are.

The three of us formally did a radio show in this city. We are now doing this thing that is a podcast. There's video, there's audio. audio it's it's completely new i gave all of this ever happening two percent chance two percent never say never so that's zero then there's one two one would be like ariotia's winning the cup maybe that's closer to zero okay so in Montreal one of the final that's yeah like it's just pretty rare when when we finished the radio show Like that was it.

Warner, you quit and sorry, I keep moving around. I got to stay up shot this whole. I didn't quit. You quit and then I quit and then pinned your footers. What was your plan? Because you don't need to work. You were just done. Why are you doing this again?

I missed you guys. That's not true at all. That's one of the worst lies I've ever. I did not have sexual relations with that woman. Like what do you mean? Come on here. You missed him screaming in my ear, yelling, obscenities. But seriously, why?

Because we like having fun together. That's why I'm doing it. Shouldn't you be an assistant coach with some sort of hockey team somewhere or some funny job for one of your battles or what? I've, I have put out a lot of feelers over the last couple months. Okay. Not, no huge returns. Did you not get, I'm not, see, I heard there were return.

I'm broken, I mean, it's a little late now. I heard there may have been returns when you were, maybe you're just the picky pants. Is that where it is? Somebody just, somebody called me the other day about an assistant GM job. Oh, with, what? Joe. Bow Valley, Peewee, which one? But, no.

So what's, you know, when, you know, when, you know, bands show up to play a concert. They have what's called a rider. It's like all the things you need for them backstage. Like eight bottles of whiskey, ham sandwiches, no mayonnaise, whatever it is, you can put it on the rider. What's the riter, Warner rider or assistant coach? What's got to be in the game? Five star hotels. That's what are we talking here? Yeah, you got to have private jets. You got to have Wi-Fi access for this internet. Wi-Fi. I don't think, I think that we would have to abolish video. You've got to get rid of all video.

We don't want to bog the players down with, you know, details and such. So I think we got to get rid of that. Less food. There's too much food around. It's the never hungry league. We don't need that. Guys are getting fat as they have in the past. So we'll eliminate a few meals.

Less food. I'm like a player's surprise for me. I would for them. I would like a player's salary if I'm doing this. If I could have a players. that would be good that's about it no a four day work week for a four day work week it's still on the break i'm stunned that's that nothing's come through for you yet given all of that that seems very manageable yeah now now tell what it's going to be for long time

four day work week's coming tell the truth you got offered a video coach job as sorry they And like you of all guys that hates video, you got offered a video job. Yes. Right. I was going to have to drive like an hour and a half each way, each day to do this video job. They weren't going to give you a driver so you could do video in the back of the town car or something. There's an option. Don't some of the cars drive themselves.

Yeah, that's right. No, I thought that was good, but I, there's just some things that don't really connect. Red Warner and video coach, that's near the top of the list. But we're doing this thing, and I mean, I'm still stunned that we're doing this. My thing was, I'm tired of getting up at 3 in the morning. I've done this for it forever, years and years. I had no problem with Rogers, no problem with SportsNet, love everybody there. I'm just done. My wife is expanding her business. She's going to get to potentially ownership of what she's doing. It's like, you know what? I'll figure something out. I'm taking the summer. And now here I am. Again, you two don't think the captain's going to be. Like, what the hell is the matter with me? Like, neither of you need to do it. You don't need to do it either. I didn't do something. What do you know? You don't need to do it.

I've seen your house. I've been to your place. Yeah, well, I'm just fine. My wife's house for sure. My roommate, my landlord, I call her. Yeah, yeah. You know, it's already... That's what they're... That's what they're...

That's what they're... Whoa. There's a lot of it. I don't know. Take the thing up. It's going to ruin my head. Oh, watch your headphones there. Dude, I'm telling you, it's out of...

It's out of control. It's full... There's a lot. Side show Bob. It's side show Bob for sure. I don't really... Everyone's like, what's... the plan? I'm like, what's all these plans? I've kind of gone through the rep playbook here.

Do I have that plan? Why don't I just let it grow and see what happens? And I'm at the point where it's like, okay, now I've let it grow and I've seen what happens. And now I feel like going to plan. No, don't, you don't want to plan. Plans will screw you all up. Then you'll ruin the plan. Then you'll feel bad about it. So I think it's, uh, you know, my brother called it hot dad summer because I just didn't work and like hung out on beaches of my kids and had I looked like a guy that's diving through dumpsters for empties and like yeah all time I'm gonna roll and go Hawaiian t-shirts and shorts flip flops all summer so this is what I turned into so that is truly wealthy person that doesn't care about anything

opportunity to have a little more fun do her own thing swearing you guys said of course all that so it's a good point because at this point there's a lot of things that we need to do on the show today we're gonna welcome some new sponsors we're going to introduce you to It's a princise, we're going to do all of that. But throughout maybe the first two or three days, a little segment that we have cursing because we can. Oh, yeah, because we are on the internet. We're free to do these sorts of things now. Yeah.

Are we ready for this? Well, I don't know if I do it. I clearly, I have a chance to do it. They just kind of slid right behind. Did you want to start or retro? I don't want to start. I want to be the last story. Okay.

Get us started. Would you mind with cursing? No. Because we can. Shit. Yes, that's what I thought. I could have used a little more pizzage than that. Easy.

I just got to ease it. We're breaking the ice here. So don't want to yell. I mean, there's always words that really that's all good. So, Rhett, you're not in studio again. We quit the last job. You wouldn't come into studio.

We started a new one. We get a new studio and you still won't come. Is that? What is it about us that you hate in person? Why won't you come in? I'm a little, I'm far removed. I'd love to drive in every day, but especially for what time is it there? What happens in for a day or nine?

Yeah, see, it can skip. Mountain standard time, right? Mountain standard time for a day late. Yeah. It'd be nice to start at 10.30. No rush hour traffic, nothing to deal with. I could handle that, but I got, it's, I'm, I'm far. moved. I can't be there.

We haven't really got to the bottom of his location yet on the show. I mean, we referenced that he's far away. I've been a basement somewhere. See, here, and you know, what's great about it again? We're going to make brand plans. Okay. A new project. Yeah. This is we're going all in.

This is our life now. This is how we're going to make a living. It's our guy. Everything. And rent moves to another country. It's that kind of commitment and dedication and loyalty that you just don't find everywhere. Yeah, we're going to start a brand new podcast. It's going to be a lot of work.

They'll get up. You got all right slaves. Let's go. You got to sell it and produce it and do like accounts. That's not we have to learn. Paper work and write scripts. All this stuff is you have to do. Red moves to Buffalo.

So and just to maybe take us through this red, when did the seed of the idea start and when were there? Because I thought it was a pretty tight window. Tight window. It was a Tuesday. it was a tuesday it was a tuesday about eight o'clock tuesday the 16th to be honest with you of august and uh on thursday the 18th i believe we were here by eight o'clock at night so so you actually went on a vacation with less preparation than most people do

except you were moving your entire family fire winter we're wintering wintering there's a Well, and let me, what I love about it is you moved, you bitch and complain about the snow and I got moving out of here. You couldn't have picked a shittier place to move to and then Buffalo. Well done. That's the only thing that makes me very happy. He's like, oh, look at ready, leaving Canada and all the COVID and all that stuff. He was so cranky. Where do you go, Buffalo, where the winners are even worse than they are here.

Wow. Ah. Some lake effects. Oh, it'll be good. Good for the. So it was such a hard dog. Listen, the shoveler needed more snow to shovel. Shovelers happen.

Is that what it is? She's got the shoulders like a hulk, the amount of snow they got out there. So just so you know, you've missed maybe the nicest fall in the history of this. Oh, no, no. The nice. I'm sure you caught up. People are telling me. The nicest falls when I gave Boomer my dog.

And then I went on a trip when we were in Florida. And it was hurricane season. And you guys were enjoying 25 degree weather, all of all of October. October, November. You were in the Florida Keys. It was not, this is different. Like, there's snowbirds. And you get old, you retire, you have money.

You know, you've got most of that checklist done. You go to nice warm climates where you get golf all day and wear, you know, like turquoise is and pinks. And, you know, you hang out under palm trees with umbrellas and cockpics. That's not Buffalo, man. You're doing this wrong. Oh, we're getting, we're working on a waste. drunk with your drunk with your sleep mask on that's lit like that's like i was a little bit intoxicated a little bit yeah yeah you're listen boom i'll be jealous on thursday well we'll talk about that

in a minute we're gonna go what we're gonna do we're gonna jump out here okay get some technical stuff ironed down it's bar and burner back in two nights all right here we are baron burner day number one day number one And so I'm not sure. Are we starting like fresh fresh? Because we did, you know, a little behind the curtain. We were just talking for about 15, 20 minutes. I don't know if that's going to get to the podcast. I don't know if that's going out live.

I hope not. Really? Yeah. I mean, we can definitely do all that again. But you know, I don't know that it was that simple. Was it good or did it suck? I don't know. No, look here.

You know what it is? We are. Pinder and I are here in Calgary. We got Ret Warner sitting in now rental home. What are you because you're not where are you let you're with the in-laws or where are you living? Oh, I spend a month at the end, almost a month at the in-laws. Holy yeah. Two cars.

Oh, no good. So now I'm at a rent- Why you move there though was for the in-laws to be around the shovelers family. Isn't that what you did? Yes. Yeah. Yes. Right.

So now we rented a joint just down the street. It's walking distance, I hope. You don't want to be too far, right? Walking distance. Yeah, no, the kids, when they need a cake or treats or something, they run to grandma's. It's good. So is that your dedicated studio space that we're looking at right now on YouTube? Yeah, this is where we're going to be for two hours a day, I guess.

There's not much there behind you. That's just like a wall and maybe a pipe. Okay, there's some, there's some. some rusted pipes. Doug put that roof in. That's a makeshift ceiling. Is that what that is? It's this cheap, styrofoam garbage board.

Great job, Dougie. You nailed it. Yeah, no, no cost spared. No, is there on this project, Rhett? Is there a hum in the background? Because we're not far from the furnace and that. No, it's actually, I think probably your acoustics are better than ours. We're a little, uh, okay, we got some work to do in here with some,

sound deadening but um you're in buffalo at a rental home in your basement what was in that room before it became nothing wow what did that's that's that's a shower in there like a page for someone it puts the lotion in the basket i think it's mic's unplug too i don't think you know yeah just left us day one today things not really humming and there was i'm not sure His hourly rates phenomenal. It's just we need more hours. That's all. It's incredible. Yeah. Yeah. You know, there? It's done it better. Not in my experience. It's an art form, really. Yeah. I mean.

Because even from the old show. Yes. That's been cut in half. Yeah. More or less. What, 90 minutes? Right? Oh yeah. Yeah. And all and still it's like, gosh, I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to make that. Uh, I bet you got hungry. He just pulled a plug. Now he's upstairs in the kitchen. Hammering a sandwich or something. Yeah. Um, I feel like. If the key's there for a while, it's Rhett. Yeah. Like, hey, Red, when are you coming home? The answer is he doesn't know. We don't know. You and I have learned that it's kind of a fool's errand to try to project

Rett's activities and or decision making. So it's like he may never come. He may be back in a month. We don't have any clue. But at least until he moves somewhere else, we got an insider for the bills, which I feel like has always kind of been a, a show team of sorts. Yeah, he was rip,

roaring drunk at the game the other day. Yeah, the Steelers, the 14 points, they covered that in the first quarter or something hilarious. Was it 14? I couldn't remember. Yeah, it was a huge spread and they walloped them. And I think he's been to at least a couple of games. They started on the road against the Rams. Those was the Thursday night.

And they came home and pounded somebody, I think. Then lost in Miami. This is, if there's a year to have a Bill's insider, feel like this is the one. I want to see him get thrown through a table. That's what I really know. It's Bill's mafia. I mean, really, he's a pseudo-bufflonian or whatever you call them. But until I feel like it's an initiation of sorts to join Bill's mafia, he's got to do something completely idiotic while hammered tailgating. Now, I'm not looking to

send out any, you know, put up any red flags or anything. Can you just move to Buffalo and just live there for a bunch of time or is there some paperwork or some legalities you kind of need to do? Because I guarantee you if you do, he didn't do them. Well, that's the thing. I think he's finding that out now, whether there were or weren't. And certainly, again, plans get in the way. He just told us. Yeah.

He's moved there without thinking about, hey, do I need paperwork to be here? Am I an illegal? Et cetera. But my wife's from Buffalo. I don't know that that works. It's good for her. She can live in Buffalo. No problem. We know that. Probably works for her.

Yeah. And her kids, I think, are probably fine. Yeah, yeah. But the long-armed off the glass and out, Hall of Fame career over there, different story, perhaps. Well, you know what? Why do we take, I want to do a little bit of something here. Because we have, we've started this venture, Rocky Start, knew it was going to be. We'll get it all figured out.

It's only one day one, Dean. But down, down the line, I believe in Ottawa, we have our video producer. He's going to be the glue that holds all this. kind of this thing together. Alex is down the line. I don't know if we can hear him. He can hear us. We can't hear him. But Alex is the man. He does like nine shows straight every day of this. And when things go wrong, he's like, Alex, what's the matter? So then he's got to figure it all out. So when you're seeing stuff go from one shot to two shot and things going up and swooshing.

That's Alex. That's all Alex. He is a pro. We're very fortunate to have him. Big shout out's Alex. And we won't blame you for. or anything it's right princy that'll take the fall i think speaking of which over at uh what we have already dubbed the princy perch prince of perch mark prince who works oh there's there's right four shot so we've got we've got princey mark prince here in calgary my first i guess initiation with you was on the miss and curfew podcast with uh oh brian oh obbi and up up dog and And I mean, it's a good, it's a good podcast. This is very good.

It's very funny. O'Brien, former flame. Upshaw. Where's he from? Fort McMurray. Yeah. Oh, boy. So nice to suit's owned by anyone ever to set foot in Fort McMurray.

Like, like, fashion. Yeah. But I was listening to the podcast and they were talking about their producer. And then I, then they sit down there. Well, you're out there in Calgary. You're in Calgary. And they're in what, like Hermosa Beach or something. Newport Beach, California.

It's like, well, that doesn't add up. I don't understand that. But you're a Calgary-based guy. You were helping them still are kind of helping them with their podcast. Yeah, that's right. This is, this one's my priority, but I'm still helping the phone. That's what I like to hear. That's the right answer for sure.

So this is not a Ret. thing this is not operator error in buffalo somewhere down the line well that's disappointing i'd like to blame rat for this year i'd apologize to him if he were here but text in folks and i'll show you guys but yeah boys this is uh i've been with flames nation i joined right at the end of the season last year uh it was uh it was a wild season like i feel like with flames nation for me nothing has ever stopped like i i don't think i ever got an off season and we went right into flames oiler flames dallas flames oilers and we went right into the off season this and that I'm driving out to my lake, my cabin out the lake in Saskatchewan.

I get a call from, we're going to introduce this guy in a second here. I get a call from the guy at Wolverine. And he calls me and tells me, hey, I think the nation, I think they're talking to boomer and Pinder. And I'm like, whoa, whoa, what, what? And I'm 20 minutes away from losing complete service for a week. So then I have a week to process. Like, are we getting boomer?

Are we getting Pinder? Like, I had no idea how this whole process came to be. Here we are. It's day one. Technical day one. I think we're going to have a better day tomorrow. That's for damn sure. We're definitely going to go.

hit the mini fridge after this and shot kind of your beers after this episode but glad to have you guys here this has been it's been a long time time going well I remember meeting princie at uh I think it was B-O-A game oh yeah two two it was game two and

our good buddy Johnny Winwick from ATB had the suite and all of a sudden Munson's from all corners of the saddle dome were in this one sweet John I'm not getting in trouble I'm sure it was under capacity don't worry and so you got retro showed up it was Obey and Updog as you called him were there prince he's there i think like benny hebes the curlers it was there

there was a all of a sudden the sweets full and all the former players are in the back just boozing and telling stories and everyone else is like fingernails on the the it's the sweet so table in front of them watching and there's princey first time i met him like all right i why do i should know who this guy is he knows everything about our show and uh here we are working with them how many months later you mentioned uh the wolverine jerry Jared, part of Oilers Nation and the whole nation group. He's been with them for a long time. He's been, none of this has happened unless he's on board.

100%. Like none of it. Well, he's the Wolverine. He's, which you named him and it's aptly. It didn't take long. You can tell immediately. I mean, there are larger animals, but there are none fiercer than the wolver. He's ferocious.

And so here he is helping us get this thing off the ground. And then, you know, while this seven foot giraffe over here is thumbing out social media tweets, he's like precariously dancing on chairs putting up blinds setting up lights and unpacking computers guys maniac couldn't do without him any update on the warner microphone situation is it working am i working question if the fans are okay with it we might have to go have another technical break because we want to get warmer in here that may as well if uh if alex is okay with that why don't we do that we'll step away two minutes we'll come back and i'm going to tell you something special about this room that we're in oh really yep gonna tell you something special about this room

I don't know what this is going to sound like when it's cut up for audio, for the podcast listener. I pity that person, but we're here in Calgary. It's Barnburner. It's day one. We're moving forward. We're here in our studio. This is where we're going to be doing the show from moving forward. We'll add to it.

Yeah, I think this is a good start for day one. Got some gear around. Well, at some point, I know you gave the tour. We like, I think that's right. Yeah, that's right. Yeah. Possession of this place like 10 days ago or something. Like this is very.

Yeah, you wouldn't know it today, but a lot of work has been done in here. I mean, we're so well prepared. A lot of time put in. And I remember back a couple of weeks ago, we went into a office of a local business. And we said, you know what? This is going to be big. Yeah. This is going to be unbelievable.

You're going to want to be a part of this. And you weren't just saying. that you actually this i leave it i kind of believed it yeah it's a good day yeah we didn't have this kind of stuff going on that no no that day was a good day it was going to go off without a hitch yeah yeah we stepped in there we came flying out of the gates and we sat there with surge and nicky and we said you guys guys first in hey you know first in you want it and sirs like well you know i don't know a whole lot about a podcast we're like serge don't worry about it buddy we got your back here we are the professionals this is our You do what you do. This is an us problem. This is a we thing.

Well, we are sitting. Yeah. In the Tower Dodge Studios. Yep, that's right. That's right. The tower. It was a, it was a great meeting. We met that day. We went into a Tower Chryser, Tower Dodge. Everybody knows where it is on McLeod. We sat down with Nikki and Serge. And we said, we're flying by the seat of our pants here, but we think that this is, is something that's going to be that's going to take take hold we have reason to believe that people are going to want to hear it and want to be a part of it and we're going to do things it's going to be

dumb and it's going to be stupid and it's going to be different and you're going to love it and you want in and they said you know what yeah we do want in we were blown away by the enthusiasm that they had and we've got some stuff already cooked up with the people at tower dodge they are in And that's what I've said. We'll mention some other people that. The traditional way of doing things is kind of, let's try something new and different. And we got that vibe the minute we sat down.

Nikki was talking about the TikToks that she's done and that they've gone viral and all of that. And then I think Serge kind of got the vibe of what Nikki was talking about and some of the sales guys downstairs, that big long, lanky, Aaron, the Euler fan. Employer of the year. Way to seven feet tall, way too tall, too tall. too tall i don't uh i mean probably great got to get you into a dodge ram i'm not saying don't trust them

because you can because tower dodge you know it's a very reputable place but him is his head touch on the roof i don't know tall it's too tall convertible driver probably hey but they are in for for some fun and i'm looking forward to it so these are we are broadcasting and we will be from the tower dodge studios moving forward our our studio sponsor and they were the first ones they were all in right from the start so i can't wait to do some dumb some dumb shit with these uh with these good people totally and and to pull the curtain back like people that know the old show and you know the dynamic of the three of us and how it's gone and how it goes it's like if anyone's going to be a little more i don't know if that's a good idea and what if it doesn't work and i don't know i mean we

He's in the pocket out there. So anyway, I get, as a celebrity, I get put on team South Street Burger. So Braden and some of the boys.

Now Brian DeHan, long time I was talking to him. I think one of the first, one of the first things that we did on the afternoon show, as far as a live show was with him, had the brand new South Street Burger location. Way back, Kerboo. Way back. Okay. Before mornings. out at Cross Iron Mills.

We're going to try the South Street Burger thing. We went in there. We did a live show. I'm in the back picking out what I wanted on my burger, the boomer burger, this whole thing. It was a great show. It was a huge success for him. And we've been friends kind of ever since.

A great trip to Philadelphia. May have had a good. I heard a lot of anecdotes on the Philadelphia. I know we're on censor. I still don't know a lot of the stories that work here. We went to the Seravelia. We went to the Trocadero, which is kind of like the palace, but way smaller.

and a little dingier before the rental you know okay um and there was an 80s tribute band they were called the leg warmers and we drank a lot we drank a lot you're dancing you got a hydrate right yeah good 80s cover band you got they were really good they were really good apparently like a regular too like their institution like the next morning we were still out and one of the guys was like running up the rocky stairs without a shirt on. Dun, dun da da da da da da da da da da da da that just bombed it's great anyway so south street burger but anyway braden was there and he's like so what do you do and i said i don't know it's i don't

know we're probably i'd just taking the summer we'll see how it goes and he's like if you ever do you know let us know yeah we'd love to be part if you guys ever do something i was like yeah okay yeah yeah kind of a passing thing and then this app's like well you know uh you did say you did say uh and we're going to figure that out. I think probably by the end of this week, we're going to be able to nail down. I love the idea. But again, South Street Burger, let's do something different. to start the year. Do they ever? A ton at home and a ton of the top 10 favorites to win the cup. If you go to a wagering site, maybe like your Betway app. Yeah. If you were to look at odds for Stanley Cup winners, the top 10 teams on that list, basically most of the flames, first 10 games of the season. There's a lot of contenders, a lot of teams that if things go right, could be great years for them. Obviously, Colorado's in that group. Edmonton's in that group. Vegas has a lot to make amends for after last year's cluster bleep of a season. Pittsburgh's coming through some other good squads as well. And it's a lot at home.

You better make, hey, well, the sun is shining here early. Because you know what it means if you're playing a ton at home early? When you're done that, there's a lot of games left on the road.
