You know what it is?
It's game day.
So it's game day retro.
It's a game day, Flames, home opener, season opener.
So you know what you do on a game day?
You get your helmet on.
That's what you do.
Make nachos.
You do on a game day.
Get your helmet on, everybody.
Welcome to Barnburner here on a Thursday.
We are pumped for it.
We finally got here.
This is kind of, when does the flame season start?
When does the regular season start?
have to wait a few extra days training camp rookie camp eight preseason games the whole works were
finally ready to drop the puck let's go so let's go so you're pumped i kind of am i'm i'm not like
not that no i'm not going oh god don't um he's not leaving his house but he's excited but i'm going to
watch i mean but you don't have to get up like really really early anymore like your excuses are kind
to yeah you know what i were always it should have tickets i don't have tickets i don't have
the i don't have reached out or little i no i don't really i don't feel like i like so in other
words you don't want to go i would love to go i would go so but i don't have tickets if we get
tickets by two you can commit to going i honestly i because of this new world we're in are you saying
Are you going to fall through it?
I will go.
I get tickets.
Did you die your hair?
Where are the tickets?
Like, well, if I ask.
No, I mean, put the seats.
It's not sitting in the three hundred.
Now there's a disclaimer.
No chance.
Just curious.
Hard to get like hot.
Thin blood.
That's right.
That's right.
Then oxygen.
Why do you think that's what it that's where I'd be?
No.
I just thought, you know, this show has enough of a following.
Someone's got a pair for you.
No.
So it's.
I don't like doing it. Take your kid. Take your, you're too late for kids.
Take the person that doesn't get to go.
Hold an opener on kids, do you? I know. I would go. Um, now retro, you won't be going.
As we've established, you were in Buffalo. Now, we didn't think we were going to get you today because priorities.
You were going to go to New York to watch baseball. We're lucky to have it today. Look at the commitment.
I'm showing. Yeah, it's two straight days. The first two in a row you've made. I guess it's three,
leads to well and to be fair the game was postponed that's right so uh game two between the guardians
and yankees will go tomorrow at one eastern that's bad news bears you know what's great is there was a show
we used to do and it was too early and it didn't work right so we moved it to 1030 mountain time yeah
and we're led to believe that this time is no good either i think it's right right would work really well for
But then he moved to Buffalo on 48 hours notice.
Yeah.
So now the time two hours later doesn't work.
So now this doesn't work either.
Is that right?
It's more the set schedule type of thing.
I like to adapt.
I'm adaptor.
You don't like planning.
No, we can't plan.
Planning's no good.
We've got to be spontaneous.
Like tonight, we should feel like we'd just be adapting to your schedule.
Yeah, I feel like it.
Oh, please.
Oh, who's taking off tomorrow?
Who's taking off next week?
I'm off next week.
Oh, oh, my God.
How's the commitment left?
Well, we'll see it probably a second out of three.
Where are you going and can I come?
Uh, Mesquite, Nevada.
It is the 20th annual gentleman's annual poker and beer invitational.
Get out of here.
I'm going to watch us.
I'm going to watch a sporting event that's relevant to the show.
We got a big fan sitting there.
Boom, boom.
Huge Yankees fan.
I could do some reporting.
But here's the thing.
here's the thing. I would love to go, but I have work. And it's not just, it's not just work.
It's kind of the new job week one. So it's like a career. I, yeah, I would love to go,
but this is very important. I can't miss work right now because, you know, it just started.
You put part of the love of this new gig was, flexibility, flexibility. Got the flexibility.
He's working for, he's angle on this four day work week. He's been talking about it for a decade.
This is one of the hills he'll die on.
The four day work.
How am I doing with my mic?
Do I have to lean in every time I talk?
Or if I'm back here?
No, you're good.
No, that's no good.
That's no good.
So get close to talk is what I'm asking.
Whatever you're doing is working.
You can sit back to sip coffee.
15 years we did this thing.
And how many times?
It's a different mic.
You're always getting mad.
You're yelling me for not beyond.
Brett, Brett, your mic's off.
Your mic's off.
Your mic's off.
Yeah.
Brett again, your mic's off.
The thing about a microphone.
I figure out how to turn it on and off again.
That might be good.
That's bad news.
Yeah, but if I'm going to close, you've got to listen to this.
That's right.
Now, not to be a negative Nellie,
but the Calgary Flames have a little bit of a streak going.
They're streaking.
I don't know if you've caught it.
Not a good streak, Brett, no.
They have, I believe it's a record.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's like an Iron Man streak.
Not to be fair, some teams haven't been around long enough to, like,
Seattle.
can't touch this record it's not their fault the flames have lost 12 straight season opening hockey
games now my math isn't good as we know but i believe the last one goes back to edmonton a 5-1 win
october 1st he's pointing at himself i think he was playing i was going to say which i think
you would have had to have been involved i think we pull up this game sheet every year and it's a
year since we've done it so we've forgotten and we go look and ret's probably plus one with a minor
And, you know, 17 minutes of ice time.
Yeah, something.
I don't know if I did play.
I'm doing the math in my head.
And that would be very close to well.
If it's 08, I played.
If it's 09, I didn't play.
12 years, that's a little between 10, wouldn't it be?
Something like that.
No, this year it would be 13.
Yeah, this would be.
That's true.
Yeah, they haven't lost it yet.
So they're at 12 last year.
That's a good point.
You remember it well, obviously.
Oh, yeah.
Bond memories.
Nope.
Now I can't say no.
Who do we play Edmonton again?
I got a fine.
I mean, I figure it.
It's nice that we're playing to cup champs tonight.
Isn't it?
Well, hopefully they're really tired because they got,
they beat Chicago.
They got banged up drunk the day before getting their new Stanley Cup rings.
They flew in here, got in about three o'clock.
We'd be taking the flames totally lightly, right?
Oh, yeah.
They ran the show of Edmonton.
Yeah.
And Edmonton ran Cal.
show oh it's probably why even show up three game series if they play the best to
say I haven't show up yeah a bit different but different look they lose obviously
Nazim cadre comes to Calgary different goalie different goalie Alex Georgiev got the
win against Chicago the other night so it's Fransoz and Georgiev yeah yeah but
didn't big do you say they're a better place to land was HEPA didn't big D say
last year there's no sense playing them they're too good waste of eight days yeah and
And fuel, Jeffield, yeah.
If you were the wild card team and you had to play Colorado, it was going to be a waste of eight days.
And it turned to be, I think exactly that with Nashville or like one day off.
Pretty much bang on.
Yeah.
Pretty much bang on.
It is, it's Barn Burner.
We are here in the tower, Chrysler Studios.
I feel like I'm going there every day.
I was in a tower again yesterday.
I picked up my truck.
How many trucks do you have now?
This is crazy.
It's just the one.
Okay.
Now, my timing is usually shit.
How was this for timing?
Was in there?
Had a meeting.
with the boys the other day hop into my truck turn it on it's like the thing comes up vehicle will not
start in 305 kilometers well that's like you're out of gas no it just range it just said hey stupid
you're already at the at the dodge dealer just give them the keys and let them fix it but it did
go through my mind 300k i could probably i get there and drive to working back a couple of days but
you know i left it there russell took care of it back in service right
Yeah, fired her up.
How old is that one?
Because that's not my truck?
Yeah, 2016.
It's not that bad.
Yeah.
Not like Warner.
I can just get up and move somewhere.
It's like, well, I guess I need a new truck and just go buy a truck off.
Yeah, like someone getting a thing of butter from the grocery store.
Just walk in and get it.
You just moved here.
We need some milk bread truck.
Just go get one.
Butter shortage this year.
Be careful.
Really, hey?
It's true.
Like since you moved to New York State, there's less there.
I believe that.
Lots.
your bond tonne yesterday powered through i don't have a freezer either to fill so it's hard to keep the supplies
yeah tough to keep the supplies wouldn't go um bonton order in so from the and because frank sarra valley
our hockey insider daily face off he's going to join us here coming up in a little bit from the flames
perspective put your your coach's hat on if you're darrell sutter you want the attention of your team
for whatever reason they do, the flames at times will seem to be puckered at home.
And it's not going to be good to be puckered at home because nine of their first 10 games are at the Saddle Dome.
The fact that it's the cup champs coming in, you would think this is now 13th straight season openers.
You're destined for it.
But if there is something that'll get your attention, it would be the cup champs.
Is it a good thing in a way?
Well, I don't think Daryl Sutter should have to say anything, should he?
You've got a bunch of new guys on a team, a bunch of guys trying to prove
themselves going up against the cup champs.
He should be able to stand back and let him out.
There should be no comments at all.
And none of them give a damn about the 12 game losing street to start a season.
Yeah, how many guys have been here for more than four of those?
Like Backland and who else, right?
That said, you think Daryl wants this group to be, like, it's different.
It's a different core, right?
it's I want to see how they play
Darrell asks players to play a very specific way
you better take care of the back half of the puck
we're not trading chances
you got to work hard
so and that's not rocket science obviously
but I do think there's some emphasis on like
they didn't finish the preseason well and that means
fuck all but they look pretty bad against
Winnipeg in some regards in both games
Markstrom wasn't sharp in the second one it was five on 10
at one point
And to be fair, their special teams are pretty crappy in the one before that.
So I think, you know, Daryl's always going to have, we better work on this.
He's never like, hey, you guys look great.
Have fun.
But to your point, Rhett, he's probably been hammering that all week, right?
They know what they have to be better at.
Yeah.
It's not a special story, that one, right?
That's, he saves that one for the every day.
That's your, that's your nighttime reading.
Welcome to the room.
Yeah.
How's your family?
the power play sucks we got to work on that yeah do you remember your uh i'm just thinking when you
go from florida obviously you go to florida your first game you're a rookie so that's a
first game ever unique situation but then you go into buffalo or then you come to calgary you've been
traded for you were a sought commodity by the team that's brought you in what's that like because
i can't help it feel like you try and do too much well you've got lots of energy that's for sure
again. You do try to do too much. I remember the first game I played. I think it was it,
wow, I'm pretty sure it was against the Vancouver and the Sadiens were just kind of,
I don't know if it was their first year or second year, blah, blah, blah. But it was like,
I'm going to run and crush one of these guys and all of a sudden he's dancing around.
You're getting shots on this. This guy can play. Look out.
It's actually. Those are the ones that step, uh, I think.
of to answer your question you have tons of energy so that's kind of the big thing going to play
for a new team but the season opener is for me the ones that stand out are when a guy like
kovulchuk gets the puck and he's coming down on you and you're like oh oh oh oh oh this
it's not going to be yeah wait a minute not seen this before so those are the ones that i
remember and then you've always said that it was the second third
fourth game that once you come down from that adrenaline, then it's it's a little harder to muster
up that same energy, right?
Yeah, it is.
But I think if you get off to a good start, it's not.
Depends on the room, too.
Like my first year in Florida as a rookie, I mean, I guess it's different because you're a
rookie, but we were playing competitive hockey.
We knew that it was a veteran group and they knew every game mattered.
So it was kind of, it depends on your lineup.
It depends on your lineup.
And I think that adding a bunch of new guys is probably helps you keep the energy up.
Having a coach like Sutter, you're not allowed to have downtime.
So every team's different.
I think with teams show the tendency to have those peaks in valleys early,
then I think you can set the tone for a tough season.
Well, and so this the old core.
So, you know, throw Bennett in, obviously, Goddraub.
Kachuk, Jordano, for whatever reason, there was wild inconsistency throughout seasons,
especially ones that didn't go well. You think about that no fans, shortened season.
They looked so good at times. They looked so disinterested. They disappeared for 20 minutes at a time.
A lot of that was cleaned up by Sutter last year. And to be fair, a lot of those guys aren't here anymore
now. Like I would, like if you say, man, it's just a weird habit. They don't show up in some spots sometimes.
that's not this group anymore, right?
There's just not a lot of leftovers.
Now, maybe they will be that way,
but it kind of feels like last Corps' record to deal with
or if they even care.
It's the Flames and Abs tonight.
It's game day, game one for the flames.
Time to bring in our hockey insider.
Our buddy, Frank Sarah Valley,
he, of course, daily faceoff, daily faceoff,
daily faceoff, live, daisov.com,
DFO rundown.
He is a man with many talents.
You're a writer.
those beautiful blue eyes.
They really show up in high death.
We had the show on here.
Man, it's really, really something.
Welcome to the program, my man.
Yeah, glad to be here.
Awesome to check out the show.
And I got to tell you, I was lurking a little bit in the group chat on YouTube.
And if you're listening on the pod, you should check it out on YouTube because it's really
quite funny.
And, you know, once they said in the chat that Pinder looks like Mike Smith, you can't see it
any other way. I'm convinced that if you took the, if you took the show and blasted it out and put
like Mike Smith over Pinder's photo, like people would just believe that Mike Smith was on the show
today. It's a big guess. You have that one picture where it's just a collage of Mike Smith heads,
but one of them is Pinder and you have to kind of, okay, give me a second here. Is it that one?
It might be that one. Yeah, there he is. Yeah. Oh, it is. But it does take you a little while to
pick it out. It does.
Even better, Frank.
Red popping in and.
Sorry, I was going to say,
Rhett's face when,
when Pinder dropped a gratuitous F-bomb,
it was awesome.
Like the YouTube is like straight up comedy.
Yeah.
Red,
uh,
Red has bare feet going yesterday.
Why is your background nicer than mine, though?
Like,
you should stop by my house,
Frankie.
Is it so?
Yeah,
it's so close.
I'm not sure.
It looks very similar to the new guy,
right,
right?
Yeah.
You would be.
shocked at how easy this is to do,
Rhett, like all you gotta do is go buy a couple
nice bookshelves and throw a couple decorations on there
and some $15 LED lighting from Costco.
And away you go.
Frank, Frank, you would be shocked how easy this is to do.
This is what happens when you, when you move in 48 hours.
I got lights.
In a long shelter, you have lights.
Where are they?
There's lights.
See?
Rob Ray gave me those lights.
I just haven't hooked them up.
Looks like a fly trap from a farm.
That's good cord management.
I look at the cord management on your mic cord there.
That looks very good.
It's very tight.
Mind your own Mr.
professional over there.
So do you have like bottles packs of bottled water and batteries for when the world
comes to an end in your bomb shelter?
Is that one of those, what, an escape room or something?
He's got MREs.
Yeah, I do have some of those actually.
When I go out and a fly.
and get lost.
Well, let's get into it.
It is, it's game one.
Game day here in Calgary, the avalanche come in.
They win last night against Chicago.
They cruise.
This will not, I was looking, do you just pick up where you left off?
Outshot the Hawks 3519, 4 for 6 in the power play, four assists for Ranton and the
Chushkin two goals, Makar, a couple of assists.
So the, the cup champs, despite losing their goaltender, one of their top centers,
they seem to be just fine.
And, of course, their captain's injured right now, too, but they look to be just fine so far.
Yeah, that Caleb McCar guy is pretty good.
I don't know if you guys saw that clip from the commissioner, uh, leading into TNT's coverage.
But yes, news, breaking news.
You guys should put it at the bottom of your scroll right after the Connor McDavid is still good.
Like, Avalanche still good.
Snapping it around four goals in the power play.
Are you kidding?
Crazy to see that start.
And obviously an overwhelmed and overmatched black hawk.
team that no one's really expecting a lot of this season as they're going to be squarely in the
hunt for Connor Bedard, the hashtag suck hard for Bedard. But in this case, you know, I love the way
the flames are entering this because they're not wading into it. You know, you've got the abs right
out of the shoot followed by the Oilers in a battle of Alberta and who knows what to make of the
Vegas Golden Knights next week. So a nice little test to warm things up and just get right into it.
Yeah, I was looking at it. You get, uh,
the Kinnan McCar tonight.
You got Drysidal McDavid,
and then you got Stone and Jack Eichel.
We'll see how the new guys fit in
and Darrell's system pretty quick, won't we?
Yeah, and you know, I heard you guys talking
to start the show.
Like, when you, I know that there's a tendency for guys
and Rhett was talking about this
to maybe try and do too much when you're new to a team.
I think the biggest reminder for any of those guys
is like, we signed you to these mega contracts
because we like what you already do.
Don't try and be anything other than what you already are because we like that.
We just paid you guys $200 million between the three of you to stay here for quite a long time.
And so I think that's maybe the message.
And I agree with you wholly in that this is a freeing moment for like who cares and where's the baggage of last year's playoff exit and however many losses in home openers.
Like that's not this group anymore.
That group is sprinkled around the NHL right now.
Sean Monaghan scoring a goal in Montreal and Johnny Goddrow making his debut with the Columbus Blue Jail.
Those guys are gone.
So this is a totally new team with new expectations and a lot to prove.
And I think we're all excited to see it.
We talked a little bit about it yesterday.
And Red, I don't want to, I even kind of forget what your take was.
But Cachuk needs out.
You've got to find a deal.
There's maybe five teams.
the Kachuk group gives you five teams.
It really felt like the return from Florida was solid.
Now, you're giving up a lot in terms of age.
You're getting, there's quantity coming back and there's obvious quality.
You then sign them to really big deals.
Hubert O before he even steps onto the ice and for McKenzie Weger,
before he plays a regular season game.
Is that just good business?
Does that just make sense?
They're going to be UFAs.
You can't lose another player again like you did, Goodrow.
Or is that, is it maybe a little bit of penned?
showing just a little bit there by the flames and maybe Brad Trilliving to lock those guys in
without could you have done it a month or two or three in?
It might have cost you more money.
Why would you want to go down the same path that you just went down, leaving that window
of doubt and consternation?
And frankly, on shows like this one, conversation.
Like, why would you want that to be a talking point for your team?
The biggest thing and the biggest issue for the flames was the lack of commitment.
You heard Brad Tree Living out there.
I had to stand up for this city and this market.
And that's what he did.
And then put the money on the line from Mary Edwards and the ownership group to say,
we're backing you and we're going to prove it.
And you want guys that are bought into what you're building.
And why I believe those contract extensions are so key is it keeps the Calgary Flames competitive
and their competitive championship caliber window open for at least the next four years.
the next time that you have to think about this team potentially not being in that same
championship conversation is when Jacob Markstrom's contract is up. And that's it. Unless the
wheels fall off at some point in between and there's some unforeseen injury that we don't see
coming, this group is ready to compete and contend. I think playoffs last year notwithstanding. As I mentioned,
it's a totally different crew now. You have to look at this group on paper and say they have just as
good a chance to go on a deep run as five or six, seven other teams in the league.
But they haven't gone on a deep run.
And like, Huberger hasn't gone on a deep road.
Cadre has.
What I was saying yesterday was the flames have never stepped back and taking a long-term
approach to it.
I don't think.
Now, you can say, well, signing these guys to these long-term deals is a long-term
approach.
But you don't know that they're going to gel and work and fit in with Sutter.
I think we all suspect or expect that they will.
But there's just as much chance that it goes south as they stay.
Everyone falls in the line and does the right thing and plays the way they're supposed to.
I think the point I was trying to make was you, well, I don't know if you could have waited,
but if you did wait, it gives you the option of seeing what these guys are like.
And I don't know the contracts in stipulation when and if you could sign them after the
season started any of that stuff.
But I just worry, we've got teams like Colorado, Edmonton there.
They had no chance against Edmonton last year.
They got spanked.
And it's great to say, well, we're as good as last year.
Well, last year, it got spanked.
You hardly got through the first round.
You had to battle and find a way to beat Dallas.
And Dallas played hard.
But Edmonton owned you.
Are you that much better this year?
I can't say that we are.
I think we are, but it's it's pretty early to jump out there and say, well, we're going to, yeah,
we can go into Edmonton now and beat him up.
Man, I did not see this coming.
I didn't see Rhett being the worrier.
Like, where did this come from?
Because I hate old guys getting long term contracts.
That's why.
You're just jealous.
That's all it is.
I was going to say, yeah, you didn't hate it 10 years ago.
Look, I look at this team and I say you needed to put a flag in the ground.
You needed to say we're not going anywhere.
We won't be deterred.
We don't care that, you know, our two fancy Americans are going south of the border and don't
want to play here anymore.
We're a proud team and franchise and we're going to be there in the thick of it.
And look, who knows if any of this is going to work?
Who knows if the Colorado Avalanche taking Nazar.
some Cadreya out of the picture significantly impacts their chances. They've changed out their
goaltending. Like every single year in the salary cap world, no team can stay fully 100%
you know, together. The Tampa Bay Lightning were an oddity in that they basically brought
19 out of 20 back and went out and won another Stanley Cup. That almost never happens.
It's a constant moving puzzle in the general manager's office on the big board as he's moving those
magnets around because every year there's some kind of change. And to look at this Flames team,
I happen to think that they're better suited for playoff success than they were last year.
I think, you know, even, you know, taking out a guy like Matthew Kachuk who has some edge
and really disappeared, oddly, you know, in that playoff series in the Battle of Alberta, you know,
Nazim Cadre comes in and he replaces that. He's a guy that's going to drag your team into the fight on
a nightly basis. We just had our distributor rankings posted on daily faceoff.com.
We see Jonathan Huberto as a better playmaker than Johnny Godreau and project him to have a better season.
Then you look at the back end, definitely stronger, probably one of the five, six, seven best defense corps top to bottom in the NHL.
And they've got Marks from Annette who you look at the oddity of that playoff matchup.
How many times is that going to happen again?
If the Flames and Oilers play that series a hundred times, I bet you the Flames win it 60 or 65 times.
It was just an odd turn of events as Pinder was in net, Mike Smith.
He beat Markstrom.
Like, and Markstrom was no good.
Like, how often is that going to happen?
I don't know.
But I'd be willing to bet that it, if it were to happen again,
you know, just as likely to be the opposite.
Well, I said yesterday, Trulivian is either getting a street named after him or run out of town.
So it's going to be one or the other.
What do you think about?
And that's fine, but I like the, I like the balls, the size of a dump truck approach to the summer.
because it would have been easy to borrow a phrase from my good friend and mentor,
former Flames GM, Craig Button,
and say that the flames this summer would have folded like a cheap tent and a soft wind.
That would have been the easiest thing to do is go sit in the corner and suck your thumb
and say, you know what?
We'll be back at some point five years from now.
But that didn't happen.
Is there any way that the workload maybe changes for Jacob Markstrom?
I don't know that it had any, I don't know if it had any hand in what happened in round two.
He was great in round one.
By that point, you just are what you are.
But the knock, or at least the story around Markstrom has always been, don't overplay him, don't overplay him.
And Darrell Sutter has been I ride number one goalie.
Somewhere, you know, those two don't mesh very well.
I think that they have a very good backup here.
I think he's shown in the limited number of times we've seen him that he's capable of
playing more but is there any chance that darrell sutter changes that philosophy i think they should consider
it i mean i just think back to the way the oilers approach the series and i point blank you know
reading between the lines j woodcroft taking a run it at the oiler saying you know even as they
have their whatever 40 or 41 year old in mike smith in that they go hey well we we our goal he didn't
play 63 games this year i mean he like he was not shy in and hinting
at it that they felt like they had a big advantage because Markstrom might have been worn down.
And how much does that need to be adjusted is a good question because you still need to be
successful in the regular season and there's no doubt that Markstrom gives you the more
consistent and better chance to win. Is 50 that number? Is 55? I think, you know, that would
make sense to me, but I'm also not privy to the sports science and numbers of what's behind that.
So I'd be curious to see what the metrics looked like behind the scenes of Jacob Markstrom and where he was at.
It's a big year for Lidar, too, Arbright's RFA.
You got a great prospect here.
That's going to be interesting storyline.
Free agents this coming summer, two in Chicago that lifted a lot of hardware, raised a lot of banners.
St. Louis has two significant players that are coming up and David Pasternak had four points last night.
He needs a deal.
Any of those sort of frame the biggest news of the year if you have to sort of project what the biggest stories will be?
be as we move forward? Yeah, I would say everyone's really focused on Patrick Kane and what happens
there. And it's the decision's not around the corner. And I can tell you that there may be a possibility.
I don't know, I couldn't handicap it 10%, 20%, whatever it may be. But Patrick Kane raises his hand
and says, I'm not going anywhere. I want to be a Chicago Black Hawk for life. There's going to be a statue of
him outside United Center already, not far from the one that has Michael Jordan, Air Jordan in the
air and maybe he just wants to stay a hawk. I think you have to allow for that possibility.
What I can tell you with Patrick Kane is that he's not ready yet. He's told the Blackhawks that
he needs some time. His family lives with him in Chicago. I've mentioned this before. His dad goes to
like 70 Blackhawks games a year, which is like mind-blowing how much he's on the road with that
team and around the team. They're a big part of his daily life there. And so he's not ready to
make the move. They're not ready to make the move. And if it comes to a certain point, Christmas,
New Year, somewhere around then, where they begin to have those conversations and it picks up.
Maybe he tires of things before then.
There's a lot on the table.
I would say keep an eye on a couple teams in particular.
The New York Rangers, the Toronto Maple Leafs, and the Edmonton Oilers.
And you say, okay, well, how could any of those teams make that work?
Cap-wise, the secret is in letting some of this season pass.
His contract obviously gets paid down.
And then you take that and you chop it twice.
You send it to another team and then bring.
the basically 25 cents on the dollar, two and a half million dollar cap hit in.
And that's how you make it work.
The extension is another conversation, but could you imagine the talent on those teams,
the Rangers are uniquely positioned with a burgeoning pipeline of prospects to send the other way?
That's the team I would have circled at the top of the list,
but no doubt there's going to be no shortage of suitors for Patrick Kane,
Showtime potentially on Broadway.
I know we've got to let you run, but he's a Buffalo,
kid. Rhett says he'll throw a cot in his dungeon over there if Patty Kane needs a place to
lurk for a little bit. Yeah, I'll throw a cot in Kane's dungeon. That's, there's an upgrade.
If that doesn't entice him, I don't know what it will. Frankie, good to talk to you again, buddy.
Thanks for your time. We'll do it every Tuesday. We were a little underwater on Tuesday,
but every Tuesday we'll have you on. Appreciate your buddy. Be good. Glad to do it. Enjoy game one,
everyone. Thank you. There you go. Frank Serra Valley, Daily. Daily
Faceoff.com, daily faceoff live, BFO run down. He's all over it. We encourage you go and check out daily faceoff.com. Lots of good stuff there. Line combos, breaking news, all of that sort of thing. Wouldn't that be something if a superstar American chose Edmonton? Like the franchise history is people leaving Edmonton. Yeah. And I get it. Like it's McDavid and Drysout. You got three years of those guys under contract. It's now. This is their window. I mean, it has been forever. But they finally are a good.
team and with these two guys it's probably too late because they've started on the path in
chicago but what changes if if taves leaves or says i'll play for a million bucks what happens
if cane says i'll play for a million bucks can you go and buy in chicago no i want to stay i want to be
a hawk forever i'll play for a million bucks i got lots of money i got three cups i want to stay here
but i want to be competitive i'll play for a million bucks yeah i free agency's not usually the best way
to build teams but they're they're just so bad aren't they like you look at that roster
Chicago might be the second or third worst roster in the league and that's saying something with
how bad Arizona is and it looks and they made those moves to brinket out yeah right Kirby doc out they
it's like they're trying no there's there's got to be something more to that doesn't there
well Connor Bidar is I think what is happening there maybe but you're right like why would you let
a guy like to break it go he's young you've got tap space doc doesn't that the exact
tape of player you want to keep what's that red sorry well i'm just saying i don't think that doc is
gonna get rid of the dock is getting you three standing he was he was one of your recent first round
picks tough i know right to bring it and yeah that's what i'm saying i'm agreeing with you i'm saying
that getting rid of doc doesn't make you that much worse it's you why would you dump this kid i
there has to be more to that story were you going to be the gm there wasn't that what that was
yeah weren't you going to go in there my idiot
roommate would give me a job but he's oh oh god nothing for you you so that what it is yeah
who's your yeah pay your pay your rent you bum does that burn that must stick right in your
your took us hey like soupy campbell you never it's like dumb old soup and now he's
running the chicago black man see that high right now yeah this is brian not jack campbell
i know there's a lot of soupies out there no brian yeah brian yeah brian campbell sorry about that
that right yeah your time's coming take take care of a guy for years and years and this is the
thanks you get wanted to bring this up now we've we're very interactive on youtube hashtags
social media with instagram all that coming up we're going to do ask ret and the responses has been
huge there have been a lot of people that have a lot of questions for you hope street building
i feel yeah hope street jumped on the sponsorship of this so they are going to
to present Ask Rhett. How's your mind? Are you, are you caffeinated? Do you have your adderol?
Are you all ready to take some of that in? I don't take them fancy drugs. I got a coffee,
but it wasn't the one I wanted. So I'm a little bit about one of those fancy machines where they
make the espresso for you. So maybe I'll pop upstairs. Good have it down here, maybe.
Sell Street Burger jumped on board as one of our sponsors as well. They have been, we've been in touch
with them, Brian DeHaan.
Braetting.
Great guys.
Yeah.
And it's a work of progress.
We'll see where everything fits.
They think they found a little part of the show that they'd like to be,
like to be part of.
We've been doing cursing because we can.
Yeah.
Rett had one.
Now, you, I mean, you swore earlier, but you haven't really done.
I was trying not to swear.
And then you asked me about that Blue Jays Wildcard game.
Yeah, it really opened up the floodgates.
Didn't really, did you notice that?
You notice that?
You know what I feel coming.
It just out of once, yeah.
This might be a good, maybe the final.
time for a cursing because we can't you've done one Rhett's done one at least me yeah now again
we're allowed to say I think so that you're asking worries me a little bit you said we're
swearing there's still like there's a couple that just you know well you know what
go ahead I've traveled a bit and it's not that bad of a word in some places
cunt oh that's like you say that to a buddy
Australia, mate.
I'm out.
That's too heavy.
You said we can swear.
Princey, can you edit this, please?
You got the five second stall thing going?
Go back and delete that.
I'm on pender's side.
Let it fly.
Let it fly.
Oh, my anti-care, my auntie Karen is not going to be okay with that.
Well, it's a good time to bring this up because South Street,
Seltsryburgh had nothing to do with that, by the way.
This is from Brian DeHan, the owner-operator,
the big boss over at South Street.
Good morning, boomerette and Pinder.
Congratulations on your new show.
Hang on, I got to put these on, I guess.
We are happy to have you fellas back in the zeitgeist of Flames Hockey.
Do you know what that means, Rhett?
We're in the zeitgeist.
We are proud to be a sponsor of the show.
That being said, the internet is a different beast,
unbound from the constraints of the CRTC and publicly traded companies.
We hope.
We are all excited to see what you three can do.
That being said, South Street Burger is proud to introduce the South Street Swearjar.
Every time one of you fellows let us a piece of profanity loose from your blasphemous lips,
South Street Burger, will be making a cash donation to Kidsport, Calgary.
We've narrowed down the swear jar words to the Big Five.
to the big five.
The F word that rhymes with duck,
the S word that rhymes with tit,
the B word that rhymes with hitch,
and asshole, and McDavid.
So any of those, it's going to get you fine.
So not the C word that rhymes with Hunt?
Apparently you're free and good.
Again, we are happy to see the band back together.
Just ask that you keep it clean, you fuckers.
Yours in profanity, Brian DeHaan.
So there you go.
Brian and everybody over at South Street.
It is the South Street swear jar.
Love it. We will keep track. Maybe on a daily basis at the end of the show, we can do a little running total and see how much money is going into the swear jar and then South Street Burger.
Going to fire all that over to kids sport gallery. Love it.
Who knew? Who knew? We're going to jump here for a couple minutes. Still to come more on tonight's game.
Did you watch the crowds in Montreal and Edmonton last night? Well, Montreal does opening night opening anything better than anyone else.

It ends October 31st over at Tower.
We're getting closer to the big announcement with Tower, too.

Announcement.
Yeah.
I want to say hi to Joey at Joey Wheeler 85 on Twitter.
Watching the show.
He's got it going on in the living room as he's,
it looks like he's folding laundry.
He's got some stuff going with his son, Billy.
How old is Billy?
Like, 25?
Not old enough.
Not old enough for what just happened.
So there's that.
Anyway.
You asked for it.
What am I supposed to do?
I don't know what I'm supposed to do.
I'm not sure.
Avalanche and flames tonight at the dome.
Lines are out.
You want to, who's playing with who?
Is anything a shock at this point?
Morning skate taking place over at the dome.
Not for the flames.
It's been pretty steady Eddie for what, I want to say two weeks.
Hubert O, with obviously Lindholm's centering to Foley and Hubert O, Dubay on the,
on the wing with Cadre you, man, Japanie, Coleman, Backland, and Trevor Lewis.
And Rooney, which I'm still, you know, it's going to take a while.
Rooney, uh, with Luchich and Brett Richie.
Yeah, there's a settery bottom six.
It is.
Yeah, it very much is.
Haniffin.
He's coach in the team.
Yeah.
Haniffin with Anderson, the, uh, the impressive tandem.
Now, Tanaf came back here the end of the preceal.
in bat annav with weger and zedorov and michael stone last we saw tannov in games that mattered it was
uh everything was hanging by a thread on that one shoulder and there was neck issues it was and red

helping busy homeowners manage their rentals become armchair landlords who sleep easy.
We, uh, it's like pressing the easy button.
Big time.
Cause it can be, cause that's why you're not doing it, red, renting your house.
Well, what's going on?
Is there?
Tentets, okay, trust this guy to pay me.
I'm not around.
I don't want to worry about it.

My furnace stops work.
That's right.
Home Street's going to take care of all that for you.
Got it.
So I found them.
But then you guys said I had to come back and forth and visit sometimes and
and all that stuff.
Yeah, thanks for that, by the way.
It's great to have to that.
Yeah, I'll be back a bunch.
So you can go to New York for baseball, but you can't come back to do your show.
That border thing.
Oh, I see.
Ask Rhett, we've taken between Twitter, Instagram, YouTube.
People have reached out.
Something else.
It's been bottled up for a while.
It has been.
So we will hit you up here with some questions.
These have been filtered.
There's no words like that in here, is there?
in here is there i'd open that they well you don't have to just read them burgundy hey ret what was the
most expensive team party or team dinner rookie dinner that you were a part of
now probably the forge and down in uh miami with with buffalo one year but it wasn't did you pay
me it were you were you in that rookie dinner rookie class i helped to organ i had to organize it because i'd
played in florida and they knew the guys that owned the place so it was great dave anderchuk
gilmore the boys good one but none of the ones i did were like some dummies have on social media
put pictures of the bill or the tab and stuff but yeah guys were making the famous one is the
it was 156 000 is what the the bruin's ringed up at their stanley cup celebration of what
against 2011, 2012, somewhere in there.
Yeah, no, we've like $3,000.
Yeah, that's fine.
So that night you did like the spread eagle naked
dive on the table in Chicago.
That wasn't a rookie dinner.
That was just because or?
That might have been a rookie dinner.
I don't remember.
I was on a table.
Medicated.
Then in the kitchen and getting stitched up.
This one seems relevant.
This is from Lion E. Steel.
Hey, Rhett, I just started a brand new job.
I've worked for two days.
Can I take a day off now?
Well, you've got to have good reason for it.
Are you furthering yourself?
And what's your relationship like with your boss?
I mean, that goes a long way too.
I don't think it's too early, though.
It's like Boom said about the team.
You always have a couple down.
You have the first couple big days.
You're excited to go.
got a you kind of crash so stay home that's what i said get ready for monday yeah what was uh so this
is game day and this one just general so game day morning skate what do you eat where do you eat for
you i know i think i know how it went but what would you eat on a game day knowing that you've got a
let's say seven o'clock game that night home game when i was in calgary or i mean it was the era of it was the
era of carb loading really yeah so what you started we were down in Miami and we'd sleep in the
hotel because it was too far to drive down for the games with traffic and all that garbage so you
drive down after morning skate and they'd have the pregame meal and it was I can't imagine the
amount of calories that were consumed like you would eat just two or three plates of spaghetti
couple bowls of soup with the nice rolls and maybe the halepanelope pepper on there and some
butter oh so good well it wasn't the halapeno one it was a spicy one but it was it was it wasn't
halapeno but it was it was delicious uh when i was in in buffalo we always went to chefs
chefs put on a big guys i always went there chicken parm spaghetti parm let me tell you there's
that was that was that was heavy the old spaghetti parm you've ever had that it's spaghetti with
sauce and then they bake the cheese on top just like chicken parm
Also, they put out the bread, the fresh bread with the butter and the meat sauce to dip in,
which was a nice touch.
Not a lot of veggies.
And in Calgary, I would go to Mercado and I would have the brusetta and I would have a tag
and I would have the steak.
Which is not a small steak.
It's selling it short to call it a steak.
That is so much food.
Yeah.
That's a crazy amount of food.
And the tag is the tag tagliatelle, which is off the charts.
And they usually recommend that steak, the bistagic.
That's good for two people.
Yeah, at least.
Yeah, and that's all that's third.
Yeah, it's all share plates, but we didn't have.
I didn't, I'm not big on sharing.
You're not good at sharing at all.
No, you're really not.
People are, there's, we had a number of them asking if you're, how many Stinger subs you've had since you moved to Buffalo.
Can you tell people what the Stinger sub is and then maybe do you have?
have any math?
I haven't had that many because I found a new one that I really like.
It's called the Pittsburgh, which is very similar to the stinger because it has the,
it's not really a Philly cheese, but for lack of a better, it's chopped steak with cheese and
sauce all mixed in.
So it's like a Philly cheese.
But then you take, you know, you got to have the mayo and the oil and the vinegar and
then the lettuce and then you put the steak and cheese on top and the Pittsburgh, which I've
kind of switched to is french fries on top of that really the stinger the stinger is chicken fingers on top
of that and either way you get the the deep fried crunch and it's delicious so is that like an homage to
the permante brothers from pittsburgh the french fries is that maybe what that's all about that i that i don't
know because you the primantes right you know you've definitely had that no no yeah that's uh
kind of the legendary sandwich shop in in pittsburgh and i think that's their
I think they can get like a fried egg on it, but I think they put the French fries on the burger
and that whole thing.
I'm shocked to do with me.
Are buffalo, our wings in Buffalo slash Buffalo wings overrated?
No, they're 10 times better than anywhere else.
Can you order Buffalo wings or they just wings?
Uncle Darrell showed up and he had, of course, wanted to go for wings.
And we ordered wings and he wanted to have, he's like, well, we'll just get the, you know,
how many are you going to eat?
I'm like, well, I'll eat 20, a couple dozen.
okay, I'll eat 22, so we'll get the bucket of 50.
Well, the wings in Buffalo aren't bite size, right?
Like, these are meals.
And they came out and Uncle Darrell was just blowing away.
He's like, oh, my God, we will never be able to eat all that.
I'm like, no, no, there's no chance you eat 50 wings between two people in Buffalo.
So is it some genetically altered chicken that they're out there in New York?
Steroided right to the max.
Yeah, 100%.
100%.
Why the Americans are so big.
You should see the dudes.
I went to the first tournament I was here with my kids.
I'm walking around the rink and I don't consider myself huge, but I'm certainly not a small guy.
I was just a we might amongst those people.
There are monsters everywhere.
Massive humans.
Red is the years ago.
Is the 1030 show too early?
Thanks.
Loyal lady listener.
We got the loyal lady listeners joining.
Good to have you.
the 1030 because it's 1230 for you again a lot of the planning that went into all of this was not
taking into account that you'd move across the continent on a moment's notice but so 10 30 mountain
how's that working 10 30 mountains okay most days but there needs to be some flexibility i've had to
complain and grumble about it already so i'm working on it i'm setting the yeah it's
He is working on it.
Yeah.
You really are.
So what, so again, for you then, what's the, what's the sweet spot?
Wow.
People are listening.
Used to listen to us in the morning.
So probably a little earlier would be 10 o'clock, my time.
10.30, my time would be good.
10.30 Eastern.
Let's do that.
Right.
So we're basically, we're back to doing what we were doing then.
That's good for Rhett, though.
No, it's not even close.
What if you were in Calgary?
Would you be lobbying for an 8 a.m. start?
It's 10.30.
1030 is.
1030 is great.
I was okay.
Now, American Thanksgiving on the way.
We just had ours here.
I don't know if you remember Canadian Thanksgiving is different than down there.
Pumpkin pie overrated.
Question number two.
Top five pies.
Wow.
It looks like poo and I don't eat it.
It's disgusting.
I hate pumpkin pie.
I've said it before.
it's gross i was at an event this week host cooked five pies all homemade so tough five like
who there's some goods in there i am a i'm a peach pie but then i'm i'm more of the banana
cream or the coconut cream kind of pie guy you keelime love key lime hate what about like a rhubarb
strawberry strawberry i can do the strawberry rhubarb but yeah
Beach.
A buddy mine can't do strawberry rhubarb because he's like,
oh,
my cat's piss on the rhubarb in the yard.
I'm not eating that.
That's freaking gross.
Come on.
That's what I told.
He's like,
oh,
I can't do it.
Dude,
it's delicious.
Put some ice cream on there.
It's unbelievable.
Nah,
animals pissing all over.
I'm not eating that.
Not doing it.
This is from Will Gunter.
Can we get a full tour of the Buffalo dungeon?
I don't know if we have time.
It's such a spacious room that we've gone there.
That feels like a social media event.
Yeah, we'll post one later.
Yeah, maybe I can do that.
Give us the, to your right.
Just show us the shelving to your right there,
because it's pretty fancy.
And then the pipe on the left.
What is on the shelf?
The shoveler put a picture up there.
Yeah, and what's in the corner?
That, uh, there's the roof.
And there's your printer.
Got that desk at, got that desk at a, uh, estate sale.
sale bubble like a garbage side of the road in Buffalo just you get a
mattress that's the roof it's a nice light fixture yeah and is that what a
hot water pipe or yeah oh boy you know what I think we've seen it all I don't know
if we need to do a social media well there's a lot there yeah kind of I got a
food's ball table over there around the corner you any good well against a nine-year-old I am
People always ask me this.
The win, so Calgary 04, the win against Detroit.
You're on the bench.
You fire your helmet at Daryl before you go on for the celebration.
What was what was that about?
I think he was playing me too much.
I was tired.
Is that what it was?
Don't need this for a few days.
You know what?
So now I can sympathize with Daryl.
It's either too much or it's not enough.
I need to play more.
What the hell?
What the hell?
It's too much.
It's too much ice time.
It's a very nice.
A narrow little channel there that he's happy.
Yeah, that's good.
18 and a half.
But you really don't remember, because I do get that a lot,
because the video is like, there it is.
It's the crazy goal.
Dome explodes.
And then they take the shot of the bench from the penalty,
I guess between the benches there.
And you can see Daryl, he's kind of down playing it,
but the coaches are going crazy.
The bench is erupting as guys are hopping the boards.
And Warner fires his helmet down the length of the bench at Daryl.
and you don't know why just felt like the right thing to do at that time yeah i wanted it yeah i told
them we were going to win a cup that year so yeah we didn't so close did you did you did you yeah
your go-to steak cut seasoning temperature size we got black reaction yesterday from your your meat order
by the way people are people didn't know whether to believe it or not and it's like you can't make that up
That's, yes.
And he turned and it was all, it was all right memory.
The frontal loat.
You can't remember where you parked your car in the parking lot last night,
but you've got that meat order nailed.
So I, for sure, I had eight of those boxes up there.
That's how much would show up.
Just go.
So would you, let me just throw this in.
Would it be different if you were at home?
Because you said you like the baseball.
Do you order a different steak at a restaurant, like a steak place as you would make it home?
Or how does that fall?
If you like, if you like beef, you order.
a rib eye and you I actually like it blackened I think that's a nice add on if I'm going to spice it up a little bit black and medium medium rare because there's different levels
splitting it again in the middle wow Jeffrey Steingart and was a famous and believe that's his name not Epstein
Jeffrey Steingard and was a great great guy was a famous restaurant critic and he wrote some books and
And he walked through and then you want the 13th cut, if you can.
I believe, I'm trying to remember this.
I'm not great at memory.
The 13th cut.
The 13th cut, the rib, the 13th rib is the most tender rib.
And you want it medium, medium rare because medium rare is a little too much.
You're just just above medium room.
Wow.
And see, I'm with you because sometimes you go medium rare and it's, it's closer to rare, which is fine.
People like, so what would you rather have?
too close to rare or too close to well done and you can't send it back i want it done right why do i
have to yeah that's true that's a true question dude all right what temperature does it need to be
for it to be chilly season chili i don't know i've ever out of chili season uh yeah you can't have
well that's not true because if you go to a ball game you can put chili on your hot dog and it could be
30 above. So no, you're never out of chili season.
Oh. And this is a same. I really like the theme of our question. This has been like nine food,
one hockey. Yeah. Good ratio. Hey, Rhett, soup, chili or stew.
The guts have been struggling with the chili lately. So the chili's been setting the off. Yeah. So I'm
going to go stew. Sour tummy. Stew this time of year, Rhett. Oh, with that lake effect coming,
bills wind all stew good stew but again that's a trick question you can't go wrong but i'm not i don't
want no what about gumbo is gumbo allowed in there i love a good gumbo well what what separates gumbo
like your your hamburger soup and then a gumbo which pretty similar right which but which by the way
is is on the stove right now come on you got hamburger soup going today boy i know you too well hey it's
We hung out a little too much.
That needs to, you talk about social media.
We need the hamburger soup day.
Hey, Rhett, did that slightly used and abused boat of yours make it out east or did you sell it?
Yeah.
I dumped it.
Yeah.
How did you decide about it?
It's going to say, it's a pretty quick turnaround there.
And you told us a few stories about ramming it into the dock.
Yeah, there was.
you do you know what when you go to disney do you get to go for free or do you pay to go on the
rights now we're asking about your boat though yeah yeah right uh how's the yak farm coming along
they can't yak down here it's too wet no yaks no yaks no yaks no yeah no yeah no yeah it's
too wet the yaks don't like the wet it's no good get footrock hey red i'm making brisket
how many and what are the perfect sides to go with the brisket
white starchy buns
coleslaw
oh
good coleslaw for sure
that's it just keep it just that's it pro
I guess you could say the bun is maybe not a side
but I thought that's you don't want more than that
first of all you're trying to enjoy the brisket
if you want to have macaroni salad
well make macaroni salad enjoy the macaroni salad
salad you don't make a brisket to enjoy the sides right you don't make it's not thanksgiving dinner
you're not making a turkey because you're in love with the gravy right whether it's a brisket you want
the brisket eat the brisket maybe some coleslaw on the side and finally we'll wrap it up for
it today hey rat did you take your dog to buffalo how is the pooch he's your dog i thought maybe
you would know no no dog no animals in the rental i had to tell my kids uh

will you be so you're you're going to baseball tomorrow one o'clock here's the question that i have
because you when this whole i might move to buffalo you were like this is good it's going to be
better for me because I'm going to have more time. This whole thing was going to be a positive,
the time change and the time shift and all of that. That's flipped now in two days because it's now
an inconvenience. You're going to baseball so to be determined. What time is the Flames game tonight?
By the time. By the time it drops in Buffalo. Yeah, you might be up till midnight, right? I don't
let that affect your travel plans. Early first pitch tomorrow. I got to go to the Sabre
game first then I'm going to come home and watch the flames game you're
actually going to the sabers game yeah I wonder why why are you going what dropping
the puck what's the deal you know who's in town Jeff Sanderson is watching his kid
plays first game really let's go Sandy absolutely absolutely oh and that's
I got distracted I got distracted because I got a can
I was going to sell these tickets.
Here's the question.
Yeah.
Do I just drive to Cleveland?
Oh, how far is the drive to Cleveland?
Three hours, max.
Dude, by the time you're lining up at an airport and all that nonsense and then taxying in and go to Cleveland's way cheaper too.
Great ballpark.
Don't your kids have school or hockey or something that you need to take care of?
Give a rat.
It's nothing about them.
right now okay yeah worried about them no it's pretty clear who is priority one there's no
question so should i drive to cleveland or fly to new york in the morning go to cleveland and join
the show tomorrow didn't you buy tickets well that's what i'm on my phone right now while i'm talking to you
because i got to figure out how to cancel this sale or do i sell them i don't i don't think yeah i don't
I think that's a big, uh, you'd like Cleveland. Have you been to Cleveland?
No, I've never been to Cleveland.
Go to Cleveland. You've got to be tough. You're tough.
Who's kind of? The waterfront's supposed to be awesome.
I wonder if.
Well, the river doesn't catch on fire anymore. We know that. That's the good news.
So what are the expectation for the sabers out there? I know people here probably don't, don't care.
But is there, is this going to be a, a.
step forward finally for this sabres team i think everyone here is very excited they love tage thompson
they love the team they love the guys everyone's pulling on the rope together and all this talk they
don't they don't know what they got net like that yeah that's fair it's so it's i think there's
there's this good a chance that they go south this year is north right like i just it's all gold tending if
get goal tending, they're going to
be competitive. I like their team.
I like the kids. I think they're good players.
But if the goal tend to average
and you're losing three out of four because your
goalie can't stop the puck, well, it's going to
turn into a long year.
That division's just wild because
we saw it as four legit contenders for a long
time. Tampa, Florida, Boston, Toronto.
But all those teams at the bottom,
they're supposed to be better this year. Ottawa
is supposed to be better. Detroit's supposed to be better.
Montreal last night. Are they better?
They were last last year, probably better.
And Buffalo is expectations too.
Bad news.
Not going to be eight teams from the Atlantic making the playoffs.
Impossible.
It's not going to happen.
Yeah.
But there's some plucky teams.
People are like,
hey,
maybe,
but the old guard's still good there.
People are asking just before we,
we're getting ready to wrap things here fairly soon.
People were like,
so Bontan meets,
we hear you guys talking about them.
Bontanmeatmarket.com,
28 crowfoot circle northwest.
You know,
it's that whole crowfoot area.
Right.
If I noticed he'll drive there.
Now it's not on the main, you give it a over at the McDonald's.
It's right in behind there.
It's right in behind there.
Everyone knows where the, oh, the liquor store.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's right.
So you get in behind there, go in and it's a great spot.
Get your, it's great barbecue and weather.
The weather's great here, retro.
It's been unbelievable.
So even if you aren't gonna drop three grand on pallets worth of meat,
you can still go and get your stuff for the weekend and enjoy yourself,
treat yourself.
I suggest, I suggest you drop a couple of,
at least or drop a couple of grand yeah or drop a couple take a thousand bucks in there put it down
on the thing and say Greg feed me did you see who did you did you watch any of the games last night
now i they had the double header on yeah i watched the tail end i guess of the leaps and haves and
a bunch of that game leaps looked rather listless for yeah it's early and the habs worked they worked
hot crowd marty st louise got them working and did you see who found the best
of the net. I swear every year, go to Vegas, do whatever, get your, and put money down that a former
flame is going to score that night, game one, because it happens all the time. Oh, wasn't it Jankowski
did it? Neil had, what, four goals in the first game. Yeah, Paul, I just, I'm trying to think of
Joe Colburn at a hatcher his first game in Denver. You leave and you immediately score. Now, it doesn't,
it's not sustainable.
But Sean Monaghan scores last night in game one of the season.
Of course, because of course he did.
That's fine.
Do you want him to have some success?
I'm fine.
Yeah, I don't hate the guy.
Eric Engels covers the haves for Sportsnet, and he had a tweet last night.
Sean Monaghan's dad was in the Canadian's locker room after the game.
Asked him how it felt to see Sean score that goal.
Fucking awesome.
said Canadians players were thrilled for Monaghan considering all he went through the last two seasons he
played a great game so dad in the room noticeable that's and he what he's gone through the last two years
body was it was really tough for him to impact games yeah i noticed him a lot more last night one game
didn't you say he's getting 30 this year Rhett was that your 50 what was it
I said it's not going to be good if he does get 30 oh okay i couldn't remember
just brought up a number yeah you sure it wasn't a prediction though
no it's not a prediction i'll predict cadre scoring tonight though old team and first game
there you go all right that's very nice and uh the late game saw the oilers spot a three nothing
lead to the kinnucks and then just you know mick dude it happens all the time right we should
be betting anytime emerson falls down to nothing there should be a siren that like goes off and
you just oh look it i get like plus 200 a bit on the orleans amazing look at moni look how happy is
Does the cat be good and red.
Hey, look it up.
You thought that guy could be boring, hey?
Look at that smile.
I'm so excited to score my first goal.
I'm peeing right now.
Some pee came out.
I'm so excited.
Is that a new thing?
The patch on the...
Yeah, there's a lot of tea.
Toronto has the dairy farmers of Ontario.
They got milk on their jersey.
Oh, yeah.
RBC in the BMO city?
Oh, controversial.
Yeah, I guess so.
How long's milk lasts in Canada?
You go to the store and you look at the expiry date.
How long is it last?
You usually go to 10 days, two weeks and a couple weeks, probably.
Months down here.
Ooh, I don't like that.
No.
Can't trust that.
Bro.
Something shouldn't last that long.
No.
Ultra pasture months.
You can drink it in February.
Drink the organic stuff, Brett.
There was another video before we get out of here.
I wanted to play our buddy
Gino DiPolly.
Okotokes guy.
We've known it for a long time.
I didn't know that he got the Tigers.
He did.
I saw that.
I was so pumped for him
because he's been working his tail off
for years in the Alberta Junior League.
He's doing some summer filling with us
like four or five years ago at the station.
Even I knew that, boom.
Pay attention.
I know.
John Dino.
But of course, Bob Ridley,
the legendary voice after a lifetime
stepped away from the mic.
So Jito DePolly.
And he was a fan, he's a fan of the show.
He loves what we do.
Now, he had this on Twitter last night.
And I loved it.
Because if you know about us putting the bird in the air, you know, that whole thing was kind of a, he was, now we can play if we've got it there.
I don't know if we can, I'm hoping we can play the audio.
I'm hoping we can have that.
But he set the video from the road last night.
They're down doing a American division swing in the Western life.
Yeah.
And he says, no matter where he, yeah, go ahead.
There's no audio?
gonna buy free love it solo in the spokane or everywhere are we i love it i love it i love it
because he had texted or he had said a tweet he's like everywhere i go they're putting the bird in
the air boom everywhere i go so it's nice things they just people are expected it's in the universe
the bird yeah love it uh and also off the start we had that kind of the hype video right off

going to be tired that's that's tough that's tough schedule do you get higher than you can't a car on
your 21 or whatever is i don't know very nice do you know any bold predictions there
do you like the new organ guy i uh i'll tell you tomorrow oh very good i don't i don't have a
good feeling that's tell us tomorrow that's great but i'll tell you how that's odd coming from you
don't have a good feeling about things i know yeah i'm
usually so such a positive full usually such a positive positive influence so we'll see you
tomorrow right never know see you tomorrow we'll tell you to never know there he's coming on
