Starting point is 00:00:13 Another glorious day for a podcast. Hey, here in lovely Mardaloo. Welcome to season four of Barnburner. Is it? Yeah. We started on opening day four seasons ago. You ever stay at a four seasons? I'm going to actually,
Starting point is 00:00:32 for a hockey tournament coming up, up in the cultural capital, Shelbyville. About the four seasons? Oh, sorry, it's a four points. Four points. I have stated the four seasons in Houston with the... Sage. Do they even have a four seasons?
Starting point is 00:00:46 There's a cultural capital. No, they got fantasy land zebra rooms at the mall. I know they have the high-end kid hockey now. It's big money in kid hockey, but we're staying up the four seasons. Four points. I would have blown away. They got four seasons in Emmonson? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:01:05 No, it does. Very nice. I don't think I've ever been in a four seasons. Very nice. Someday. Brett, I'm guessing I have, but I don't know. You would have been on the circuit. somewhere staying at the four seasons.
Starting point is 00:01:15 Yeah, you would have for sure. It all just blends together, different five-star hotels, different names. I'm not fancy I can stay anywhere. Do you remember when first-class flights used to be cheaper? I remember living in the back of Terry Carcner's truck. He had a foamy in the back of this truck. Sleeping. Yes, couldn't afford a hotel room.
Starting point is 00:01:33 Well, I could afford a hotel room. We're at Bartenders Week in Isla Marada. No rooms available. Ruffing it. And he'd sleep in the back and you'd close it all up and you can pull the thing down, but then it gets a GD hot. Yeah. It starts sweating.
Starting point is 00:01:48 Then you'd open it up. Guess what would happen? Bugs. Fucking mosquitoes. Drive you nuts. Malaria. That is the Zeta virus. Presentation of Bet 365.
Starting point is 00:02:03 Whatever your bet is, it's never ordinary of Bet365. Start a new hockey season. That just means more action on your Bet365 app. Oh, baby. Get the app. Get the app. Get in the game. You must be 19 or older game props, player props, totals, the money line. It's all there.
Starting point is 00:02:18 It's just waiting for you. Use the coordination if you haven't already signed up. And please bet responsibly. And over the course of the show today, if you've got a comment you would like us to interact with and you'd like to see you on the show, it's easy. All you need to do is put a little money down with it. We'll take the money and get it to the use centers of Calgary. That feels like a song, putting the money down.
Starting point is 00:02:39 Put your money down. Money for nothing in the chicks for free. Money where your mouth is, that sort of thing. How are we feeling today, men? The mode police are out and your mood is terrible. I was going to say, I feel like, I'm judging. I'm feeling much better. Great.
Starting point is 00:02:54 You even have a voice. Yeah, it's still kind of. Just don't get so excited. Don't get too excited. Like fries with that. 14-year-old pinders here with us today. That's right, yeah. We're here in the McLeod Law, LLP Studios.
Starting point is 00:03:08 I checked in so far no lawsuits this week. Really? Yeah. We're litigation free. Good. But it is only Wednesday. And the season's only starting today. Yeah, especially with that whole how that Connor stuff came down on Monday.
Starting point is 00:03:23 I wondered if. Wow, it's tough to start the week like that. Right. Taking runs of politicians. Yeah. It's shady. Katie taking some heat over a shady 50-50, all that stuff. Somehow we skated.
Starting point is 00:03:33 Shady prick. I got two texts from who. One was my kid. One was a friend. One was your. I laughed at the shady prick comment that read throughout. Yeah, it's good to know people watch. And anyway, we're here from the McLeod Law LLP studio.
Starting point is 00:03:56 And here's hoping that you as well have not been sued so far this week. Yeah, don't get sued. Yeah. Feel free to sue, but don't get sued. Yeah, sue away. Sue away. Yeah, sue your. To your heart's content, Dean.
Starting point is 00:04:08 Yeah, for sure. Do you think if I went and bartended, the shoveler would allow me to attend bartenders week and either morata again? I think it's probably a tap in, yeah. I think so. Seems reasonable,
Starting point is 00:04:19 right? Maybe the three of us should bartend a little bit so that we can, this is a work trip. Is it flare bartending? You're going to be flipping them behind your back and stuff?
Starting point is 00:04:27 No, I'm not going to flare. I might flash. Yeah. No flare. I heard about you bartending at Cowboys once. That was in a unique uniform.
Starting point is 00:04:38 Less interested in your flash bartending all of a sudden. Just keep your clothes on be great. Then I remember swimming in the ocean late at night and there's hammerheads all over down there. That was a bad idea. Hey.
Starting point is 00:04:52 It's like two weeks later we went tarp and fishing. Yeah. And the guide was like, yeah, like if you fell in right now, you're done for it. Is that right? Really? Because I was just swimming. I survived. Are hammerheads a bloodthirsty animal?
Starting point is 00:05:07 Are they a creature? Mammal? Animal? Not a mammal. They'll take a limb. Yeah? Dolphins. breathe sharks gills got it i think yeah whales too did you know that jack no what are we talking about
Starting point is 00:05:21 animals jack you're the one that said that you're in a good mood i'm a good mood look at dean look at how good mood he looks you would have thought his yankees lost six nothing last oh yeah well no you can't he's worse than me i get mad when they celebrate he can't even smile playing a team that sucks on the road against so modest is what it is just bottom he's humble he's got a little bit in coming up the series is over can have fun sports sucks sucked last night for those jays fans I won't watch anymore I jinxed it okay thank you jinksy pants you're not going to want to watch today either
Starting point is 00:05:55 today's a bullpen day that's not been a recipe that works well I thought yesterday was a bullpen day I turned into one they got a little boonie on yeah it got a little bowpenny on both sides yesterday I think Bieber was great but it's like right but who are you going to Joe Siddell said he had no problem with it. He couldn't say it wasn't great. It's just that you're asking for how many innings, seven and four? The Babs could have touched the Bronx Bombers.
Starting point is 00:06:23 Well, they had six pretty quick. Yeah, the bullpen. They didn't touch the bullpen at all. Correct. They didn't. Not at all. They didn't even make a pitch. Not at all.
Starting point is 00:06:31 Not at all. Not at all. Sounds like me. Yeah. So anyway, that's coming up today. How we feel? Isn't it over? Or you mean the game.
Starting point is 00:06:42 We're feeling good? We're not feeling good. Fellas. Look at him. He always ducks the tough ones. He really does think that he can have influence. It actually makes me mad when I'm grumpy. Because there's no chance that Dean Mulberg, the boom cat, in Calgary, Canada,
Starting point is 00:07:00 if he has an opinion or a smile, has any input on the Yankees versus Jay's. Going head to head, enjoy the cinema. But he actually believes that in his. his head that might be considered a mental illness. That's crazy. Also known as cuckoo for cocoa puffs. Hi, dude. Fellas.
Starting point is 00:07:22 Fellas. Get your helmet on. It's a Calgary Flames game day. Game one of 82, the March. 84 or 82? Begins tonight in Edmonton. How did you put together a montage? No, I did not.
Starting point is 00:07:40 Shit. That would have been good. No. I thought you were leading right into a Jack special, the new Sora 2 Flames montage. Like, so easy to do. Why didn't we do that? Wolfie had a nice montage, right? Who?
Starting point is 00:07:52 Dustin Wolf. Pushed it on his socials. Did it? Yeah. There was a famous. Self-promot. A broadcaster from Marta-Loop's voices he found. Is Wolf on the payroll?
Starting point is 00:08:01 Selfish, self-selfish, selfless. Selflessly. Self-promoting? Act, yeah. I don't, well, he's excited to play hockey in Calgary, sign an extension, he's fired up. Thanks for letting us know. Thanks, wealthy. Good for him.
Starting point is 00:08:17 Yeah. I got to get on this. I hope you got some good sleep last night. You could be very busy today. Yeah, I see there's a lot of, uh, you know, we can do it later. We can do it now. I would just, you know what? It's all going to be okay, everybody.
Starting point is 00:08:32 What? It's all going to be okay. What's matter now? Was it? Well, I was on social media. Did you think about the Yankees? No, no, listen. There's, it happened a little bit yesterday on this program.
Starting point is 00:08:41 there's a lot of people concerned about saying per reckon how much he's going to play oh for abses he going to play is he not going to play he's in the press box they get well what the h is going oh you guys this yeah you always give me the lecture they're not following for the trolls do that again i don't know what i did oh it's uh do good it's diggish yeah also
Starting point is 00:09:08 the flames play Tonight? Yeah. What? They play tomorrow? No. And they play again on Saturday. Afternoon.
Starting point is 00:09:19 Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday. That's three in four. Travel. Early afternoon game on. Is Wolf playing back-to-back games this early? He can't be. What are we doing? We'll go overplaying the kids.
Starting point is 00:09:31 The guys. The guys. The guys. The guys. Gish. Mm. Folks. Fellas.
Starting point is 00:09:36 Fellas. It's all going to be okay. It's all going to be okay. It's opening night. There's 81 left after tonight. Zane's going to play plenty. He's going to get lots of games.
Starting point is 00:09:48 He's going to play a ton. I would guess by Christmas, I'll be able to throw it out there. So are we concerned about Zane Perrick? He's playing time and all that sort of thing. I did it kind of work itself out. I feel like it might. Yeah, that'd be great.
Starting point is 00:10:02 You know what, Dustin Wolf? He's fresh as a daisy right now. You say it all the time. Back to back playing games. Fine. Let me just, I'll play back to back. Then give me an extra. me that next one off so then I got more time off.
Starting point is 00:10:14 I don't think they're sitting them for the home opener. Who cares? Who cares? It's the start of the season. If he can't play them all. He's five. He's 20 some years old. What are we talking about? We could be back to Kippler. Load management. We got to worry about the load ban. It's a fucking season. Oh, got to see. There it hasn't even started. Go back to date. Guys, it's going to be okay. Trust me. Trust, trust your buddy. Look at this. It's all going to be.
Starting point is 00:10:44 Okay. It's all going to be okay. And by okay, you mean the playoffs. No one's dying here. Well, no one's dying in the crease. No one's dying eating popcorn in the press box. There's going to be a game tonight. They're going to play it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:00 There'll be a game tomorrow. Some people are going to play in that one. Yep. And then on Saturday, they're going to play again. Yep. And it will be the third game in less than four days. Did this sneak up on people? Everything's going to be okay.
Starting point is 00:11:12 did we this is we yeah it's funny when did they release the schedule just just like last night it was a while ago yeah it is a compressed schedule because they're taking a two week Olympic break so you are going to see a lot more three and fours which the flames start their season and the rangers played last night tomorrow Saturday and Sunday they'll start with four and five four and six I can't discuss this you guys go ahead
Starting point is 00:11:41 yeah is what it is man everyone's going to deal with it So the schedule is the schedule? That's correct. Oh, yeah. Yeah. But there's, yeah, I mean, maybe I'm wrong. No, you're not. Maybe I'm the outlet.
Starting point is 00:11:57 Maybe I should be worried. Maybe I should be more upset or concerned. But I feel like I'm not right now. No, you're definitely not concerned. Are you though? You kind of are, though. No, I think if you ask a goalie department to map out how they're going to start their goalies, this is a tricky opening three games.
Starting point is 00:12:15 I don't know what the hell's going on in this world. Why is everything not perfect and laid out? Why didn't they consult the goalie coaches and the goalie? Why is it tricky, though? How did this happen? Because, well, are you comfortable starting coolly tomorrow in Vancouver? Why not? Well, he kind of got shelled last time he said Vancouver.
Starting point is 00:12:32 Well, I'm not comfortable starting coolly at all. Where are you comfortable starting coolly? Right, exactly. So that's why it's like, are you comfy playing wolf three times in less than four days? Well, don't blame this. I mean, that's not the schedule's fault. You picked him as your backup. He's your backup goalie.
Starting point is 00:12:45 If you don't want to play him and get somebody else. You should take a run of the conroy's in. I'm not taking a run of anyone. It's just pointing out. It's an interesting. It's the goalie dad now we have to deal with. Mr. I am over compassionate.
Starting point is 00:12:56 It's a little bit of Kelly Rudy where the goalies don't screw up. It's the goalie union. It's the goalie union. We've got a full-fledged union member over here. That's a tough shot for the goalie there. Yeah, came from center, but there were two guys. Screen in front there. So I'll ask you this.
Starting point is 00:13:13 How do you lay out the first year against your goals? Because you just said, Wolf today and tomorrow. I don't lay out anything. The FACN, HL puts a schedule out. You have to live with it. So how are you going to approach the schedule? They've had the schedule for two months. What are they playing?
Starting point is 00:13:24 72 games. That's how many games Kiprasov played. Sorry, Mr. Wolf. That's my standard. You okay with 17 for Wolk? Can you look at Ashik's games played in like the late 1990s? Keper had like five years. Like what are we talking about?
Starting point is 00:13:41 We're talking about how many starts we're going to give the backup. I just, none. If you're a, if you're a, at game two of the season and you're already hand-wringing over, geez, are we going to have to start our backup tonight? What are we talking about? How about this? Hey, I'm not answering.
Starting point is 00:13:56 I just think it's an interesting discussion about how they're going to use them for the first three games. I don't think this is hand-wring at all. This is Zerry and Cowboys during Stampede. This is not interesting. Yeah, I don't know how it's it. You have two goalies for a reason. Well, these are back-to-back games.
Starting point is 00:14:10 Okay, so this is where you'd use one of them. And so if they don't use Kooley, you'd be upset or not? No. I don't care. Yeah. But some people are like, What are you going to do? Like you just said, it's interesting.
Starting point is 00:14:18 I don't see, I don't, I would. I would go to Mr. Wolf and say, hey, listen. You're comfy with three and buds. You want to play them all? It's up to you. I don't give a shit. You're our number one. You decide.
Starting point is 00:14:29 It's clearly not something that's going to break him. And yet he's what? How many games did he get last year? Do you recall? 50. So it's like there's going to be a massive step up in workload. And how many games did he play in the American League? I'll tell you this.
Starting point is 00:14:45 The American League, a lot worse than dealing with NHL. Yeah. And you're traveling in like horse buggies and wagons and stuff. Here's your salt and vinegars. Good luck tomorrow. You're catching a ride in the back of a potato truck. That's right. Pumpy roads. Yeah, it's like
Starting point is 00:14:59 planes, trains and all will be in the back of a pickup truck. Come on now. It's always got to get off social media. See, you get on. You kept telling me, don't look at that now. He leads the show with talking about people on Twitter. Come on. It just struck me as odd. that in games one and two of the season,
Starting point is 00:15:18 it's like, geez, what are you going to do with Wolf? What do you do here? Yeah, and it's less about Wolf. It's more about, do you have a backup you trust or not? And the answer right now is,
Starting point is 00:15:27 probably not. But if he plays well in Vancouver on Thursday, if that's you're going to start, then, if you don't trust your backup, you know, ever, until he plays well. And just to push it a little further,
Starting point is 00:15:37 what if he plays poorly? It looks like a good tank commander. You're going to play Saturday against St. Louis, and Wolf will go back in. It's like, okay, backup. Well, that's where you are today. Yeah. It's not like
Starting point is 00:15:49 it's going to be some huge curve or fork in the road that you're going to hit if he doesn't perform well in Vancouver. You had goaltenders. They went through camp. You sent one down. You kept one. He's the backup. You didn't take guys off waivers. They could have been upgraded the spot. The guy is here
Starting point is 00:16:05 to play games. His career high is 61 games. His second year in Everett. His high in the American League was 55. He played 53. I think he blows all those totals out of the water. this year. And I think he should. There's a huge gap from him to the second guy and he's proven to be a top 10 goalie in his first year in the NHL. So keep going. You know what? Those social media, you're right. You just got to stay away from it. You do. Because you
Starting point is 00:16:29 remember we used to do sweet tweets when the Twitter was a thing. This one made me laugh out loud. Ray Ferraro. He is a great guy. For my money, he's the best at what he does. He was being accused of hating on the Rangers. F-U-P. Thanks for the follow, Jay. That's, yeah, that's all you can do. You can't talk rationally these people. By the way, the Rangers got shut out by Jack's Penguins, so
Starting point is 00:16:55 you can understand why they were on edge. Like, oh, that's a little harsh. When do you get your, uh, she loves jersey? Is it in the mail? It's a three word tweet or whatever you want to call it, two of the words, offside. Yeah. That's well done.
Starting point is 00:17:11 Yeah, and the middle word aiming it directly at someone. That's right. Yeah. These are the two words. They're both aimed at you. Oh man fellas It's the start of the season Let's just Maybe you got that out of order
Starting point is 00:17:23 If you wanted the U at the front Yeah maybe I don't know Poor Ray's taking it right in the People are upset Let's just Former Ranger, wasn't it? Yeah sure
Starting point is 00:17:34 I think so Islander for sure They'd play for the Rangers Ray played a lot of hockey He's a hell of a hockey player Not according to that guy Well I don't know
Starting point is 00:17:45 I'm not totally sure. But I, you know what? I'll tell you this. He can handle it. Yeah, raise a big boy. Yeah, he can handle that for sure. Raise fine.
Starting point is 00:17:53 Raymond. As mentioned, it is a, it's a game day. 8 o'clock start. One year with the Rangers, 95, 96. There you go. That's the year. After a long stint with the aisles. We'll talk about this match tonight.
Starting point is 00:18:07 There's a lot of news and noteworthy things being The Jay's Yankees? Coming down in, no, in the Edmonton. Oh, there. Carson, thanks. They've signed a couple of players over the last few days.
Starting point is 00:18:18 Two on Connor Day. Poor Jake Walman didn't get his time in the sun because everyone was... Pretty rude of old McDude to do. Step right in front of him. You know, you think the contract, all he wanted to do was get in front of Walman, didn't one Walman getting any love. Either that or wanted to shield Walman from the 7 times 7. He said it was a good contract.
Starting point is 00:18:40 That's okay. It's market. It's not a deal. We'll go to the insider hotline, a presentation of Crystal Waters, plumbing and heating. Guess who was at my house yesterday, taking measurements in my garage for a new garage heater? Oh, Crystal honors. Correct. Well done. Good job by you. You're talking about it. Hey, blowing out air conditioners to wrap up the season. Great time to get a deal on one of those. Also awesome to get some, maybe a little bit of service or at least some intel on what's going on. What's your hot water tank, your furnace, all that. And yes, garage heaters. They're dipping their toe into the garage heater market. Have the trained professionals come to your place and get you set up for a nice,
Starting point is 00:19:19 toasty garage this winter. Either keep your vehicles nice and warm or maybe. I might put a flat screen up there. Darkboard. Yeah, might need a little beer fridge in the corner. Watch the game out here. Have some piece of quiet. Crystal waters plumbing and heating your crystal clear choice for home comfort.
Starting point is 00:19:36 403, 219, 4,100. Check them out at crystal clear Calgary.com. We go to the insider hotline and say a good day to a longtime friend of the show, Andrew Walker. Spoilers pregame posting on sports 1440 AM radio. Yeah, so still kicking. That's weird. How's it going, everyone? I thought that was like eight tracks.
Starting point is 00:20:00 I thought they were, I thought that it was done, but still going. Boomer, they've been forecasting the end of AM radio since the advent of AM radio. Yeah, since the 1920s. Yeah. The early 90s when I was going to college, they were like, are you sure? like radio's dead. We do only broadcast to about a 50-foot radius of the studio, though. So if you're really close to the studio, tune in tonight.
Starting point is 00:20:25 You get to meet your fans. That's exciting. So everything's great up there, eh? Everything's just great. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I could have done without the Yankees come back last night. But other than not, things are pretty peachy. You won't talk about it.
Starting point is 00:20:42 Ken, you said the series is over and not. When is it enough, blocks? Like, how much do you? you need like three games sweeps and three year deals and twelve and a half mill like what the when's it enough yeah well i'm i'm i'm married now so yeah i'm just like just congratulations yeah just like you guys now just waiting for the sweet release of death you know yeah it's uh all coming up walks well yeah now we can all we can all say it as a group if you get a chance to get married yeah angie angie angie's a big fan of barn burner as you know so i'm just kidding
Starting point is 00:21:15 He's a great gal. I'm not sure what she's doing. I got in trouble for shit talk in his presence the other day. So, yeah, be careful. Yeah, careful what you say on this podcast walks. Yeah, Tinder's wife got him a rat out there that'll rat you out. Got him a leaf blower. And he came on here and said, what the fuck am I going to do with a leaf blower?
Starting point is 00:21:30 I don't have trees. Somehow it got back. And then she stormed out of his birthday dinner later that night. You don't have to just blow leaves. You can blow anything. Yeah, you'd think. Because there are some things that probably won't. get blown for a while now. That's right.
Starting point is 00:21:47 So it takes care of itself. Guys, college. So it's just the best day ever Monday, right? It's just two years and it's the money. Yeah, people are pretty excited. You know, it'll come with, don't worry, people will get all pissy pretty soon again,
Starting point is 00:22:07 but it was pretty, it's pretty unique, right? Make sense of it for me, Wax? Because it doesn't make any sense. And I know I'm biased. This doesn't make any sense. So in quite a favor. Yeah, here's what I think. Like, Connor obviously wants to win, right?
Starting point is 00:22:24 Like, that's it. That's how your, that's how your legacy gets defined. And I know it would make all of you guys really happy if he won in a few years in a different market. I get it. But that it's a bit of a mark on his legacy if he doesn't win in Edmonton, right? And like, Crosby has three cups. and is it because Crosby is just, it's just, nope, he's just the best player
Starting point is 00:22:49 and best players win. Well, he obviously also makes 8.7, right? Like, that's why. Why does Tom Brady have seven Super Bowl rings? It's because he always restructured, right? If Tom Brady wanted to get every penny every year, he probably have three Super Bowl rings. So, you know, for Connor
Starting point is 00:23:06 and has been urban management failing around him, yeah, probably. Like, you know, he has Dritesidal. And at the same time, the way to, the way to win in a parody-filled cap league is here you go. Here's two years. Next year we're going to have 20 million of cap space. Go load up.
Starting point is 00:23:24 Like, you know, and Echholm signs for four today. Probably a large part of that is because of him. If you want to win, it's the best way to do it. Yeah, I would say the management piece is the best way to win that Florida would be the example. But he hasn't had that for the first half of his career there. I mean, you're saying they probably made mistakes. I mean, the first five years are littered with minefield. they've stepped on.
Starting point is 00:23:48 Yeah, no, listen, I know what you think, Bender. I get it. You like the Toskin and Deal. You like turning Everly into paperclip. You like their draft trend development track record. You like their cap management. Let's be nice today. Well, I mean, like, they fissed it for five years and you did them a favorite.
Starting point is 00:24:03 Let's not bring people on the show and then. Andrew can handle these big boys. Smash them. Yeah, listen, I'm, I'm no super fan. Given, given what, I don't know, I just look at the next. three years, right there, and I know it's hard to accept. He did it. He took 12.5. They're going to be an absolute wagon.
Starting point is 00:24:23 And they've been to two straight Stanley Cup finals. Like, let's stop pretending like it's some abject failure that they lost by a goal in game seven. Calgary did that. It's great. Listen, Calgary did that in 2004 and the city still is living on it, right? So it's... You didn't have McDavid. Anyway, sorry.
Starting point is 00:24:44 You know what I mean? I do. You know what I mean? They're really close. This is a window. It looks like he's matched this contract to their window when you look at the age of their guys and their contracts. Is that where you're seeing? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:55 Well, you know, this year there's only obviously so much you can do. We'll see it the deadline. We'll see how their goaltending is. And then it's just really interesting the next two years. Like the cap is going up and the way their salaries are somehow getting lower. Like that we've just never seen that before. So, you know, who knows? Maybe it ends up being like, you know, Sather when he went to New York, he had a little bit of money.
Starting point is 00:25:13 And he's like, holy, Malikov, like everybody. and then it didn't work, right? So, but, you know, next year, I mean, they can go out and, but there's no excuse, right? There's no excuse to be weak at any position. Need better fourth liners? Go get better fourth liners. You need a better goalie. They're going to give Skinner a run this year, but if he's not there, this is it.
Starting point is 00:25:30 This year, they'll cut bait and go sign someone good next year. They're like cap space is not an issue anymore. So, you know, that's, it'll be interesting to see. And it doesn't mean, you know, nothing's handed to you, right? Korea and Solani, you remember what you were still playing, Rhett, they, they, They went to Colorado for a million each. You know, somehow they didn't win, you know. That's the, I think that would be the, our hopeful side of the story.
Starting point is 00:25:58 And the fearful side for the Euler fan is that you could try and manipulate it all you want. It doesn't guarantee anything. One injury here or there. Favorites have about a one in 10 chance in this league typically, but they're probably right in that group of favorites, understand. It's the greatest gift of a athlete. of his caliber's ever given a city. And especially a, sorry, second,
Starting point is 00:26:22 not a top tier city in the league. It just isn't. Calgary is not either. It's not a slight. Any Canadian city is probably not, maybe Toronto, but usually you're not giving a discount as the best player in the world
Starting point is 00:26:35 to stay in a location that isn't as a desirable as a lot of other places. Yeah. Whatever, it is what it is. And we make fun of it because we're jealous. 100% we're jealous I don't know that it helps grow the game I don't know that helps grows league and I don't think he gives
Starting point is 00:26:52 a shit he's saying I want to win I want to help Edmonton win but you would agree you would agree even if you know even if even if deep down Connor and his wife like don't like it in Evanston right if legacy is important to you winning in four years from now in Boston
Starting point is 00:27:09 it's like oh he couldn't win in Edmonton whether it was his fault or not he has to win here. Yeah, I don't It's like if he leaves, if he leaves, if he was like, no, I'm out and the next year is a UFA signed in, you name it, he kind of become Kevin Durant a little bit. What about Ray Bork? I don't think so.
Starting point is 00:27:30 That was just, yeah, he was still wildly effective, but that was like, you know, but you know what I mean? 17 years in Boston. But you remember that as he was by far and away the best player in Boston? He won Norris trophies, but the team was never good enough. I don't think anybody hung the Bruins shortcomings on Bork. No, they also lost to the Oilers, right, when they made the finals. So, Wax, I view like this.
Starting point is 00:27:53 Like, if he leaves without a cup, I think that's a stain on the Oilers organization, not Connor. Like, he's basically been the best player in the world since he showed up. No, but Wox's saying it's on McDadegh, on his legacy. No, but it would be on McDavid's legacy, whether it was his fault or not, and it wouldn't be his fault. I think it would be on his personal legacy, in his own brain.
Starting point is 00:28:12 I don't think anyone would, else would. I don't think in 15 years when he's done and say he went somewhere else and won a cup, Boston, whatever, that anyone would go.
Starting point is 00:28:25 Well, you know who kind of went through this is LeBron, right? Because LeBron didn't win in Cleveland. He left Super Team, all that, Miami. They did their thing.
Starting point is 00:28:36 But then he went back to Cleveland because he knew there was unfinished business. And like that, he went back. He won. there and then he was at peace, right? He's also from Cleveland.
Starting point is 00:28:48 Right. So, you know, but when they- I wouldn't Connor want to go help the- It's going to at least. Walker just broken. I don't think it's, I don't think that's impossible. I don't either. Two years. Three.
Starting point is 00:29:00 How do they, because you noted it, they're going to be swimming in cap space next year, which is unique in this Connor era. Like, basically since they've been competitive, they've been capped out. How do they address the goal, I think? Because it's not like we haven't been talking about them adding a goalie for three years here, and yet there they are with, you know, the street hockey backup everyone loves and a number one that everyone thinks probably be better suited
Starting point is 00:29:20 to be a platoon guy. Yeah, I mean, it's one of those. So there's no more draft than develop, right? You're not going to go draft to Jasper Walshsted. Oh, in five years, it's not about that. It's three years. So it's just a matter of who's out there. I mean, I still look at could Sorokin now eventually make his way here? It's a possibility. because the islanders aren't going to be great. We'll see how St. Louis's year goes, is Bittington that guy. Politics aside, I would have loved to see him get Carter Harrike, I'll be honest, but I understand why he wants to play stateside.
Starting point is 00:30:00 So it's just a matter who's out there, you know. And again, goaltending is so funny because, like, Conor Hellibuck's best in the world, can't make a save in the playoffs, right? Like, Jake Ottinger, yeah, you'd rather have him over Stuart, Skinner, no problem. Back-to-back conference final, Skinner's straight up outplayed Ottinger. Like, you know, it's, it's tough. And I don't think there's a, there's a hashic floating around there, right?
Starting point is 00:30:24 That is just guaranteed, like, how many goalies, like, guaranteed he's going to be great no matter what? Bob has kind of turned into that guy a little bit. Losing, Tampa. Basilevsky, Schisturkin. Maybe you put Bennington in that category now after seeing Four Nations. It's a small list. Bennington at least is the guy that I do feel the Four Nations and then the cup final previous to that kind of changed our view.
Starting point is 00:30:50 It's like, no, like there are big, there are big game guys. Like clutch is still a thing, right? Are you at a lumber camp, a tree planting camp? You with Kauai? Plant trees? Just sounds like somebody's. Yeah, I can close the window. There's some construction going on.
Starting point is 00:31:06 It's all right. Someone got a leaf blower? Yeah, somebody got a husk varna out there. That breaks down. I got one for sale. Yeah, really good. We haven't talked about it yet.
Starting point is 00:31:15 A extension for Matthias Ekholm. He's been a very solid fine for the Oilers. Another three years for him. 35. But it's three times four. The cap hit is... That's nothing. Four millions.
Starting point is 00:31:29 As long as a second pair were better, that's a deal. He's been a 20-minute guy. And again, for that guy, what's left for him? Like, he's not going to win a Norris, right? Like, what's left for him? It's winning. That's it. And there's just really no better spot for him to win now.
Starting point is 00:31:44 And I think you're going to see that a little more, whether it's guys extending or some surprise free agents. Like, well, you know, I want to win. They have cap space. It's the place to do it. And if Connor leaves $8 million a year on the table, well, I guess I'm signing for a little. Not everyone thinks that way. But I could see it going that way, like $4 million for Ekholm. Right now he's still a top pairing guy.
Starting point is 00:32:07 And in two years, he might be a second pairing guy. Who knows how he ages, but he's been really good. Like for all of the managerial mistakes and Ken Hall on this and Peter Trelli, that, that's one that they got right, that getting Ekholm from the Preds was an unbelievable trade. Yeah, Tyson, Mary went together, but that works really well for them. And Reed Schaefer. What about Isaac Howard, Matt Savoy, David Thomas Eck. These are Deppstein.
Starting point is 00:32:39 Yeah, what? Not commodities. Howard is a first rounder for New Tampa Bay, familiar with him, obviously, Sal. But it does feel a little thin, or at least this is a real opportunity for these young guys, but it feels like, hmm, I better be ready.
Starting point is 00:32:57 Yeah. Yeah, it's also, it's also different, right? Like this isn't the, you know, PRB, Eberley, Nuge days where it's like, hey, we got these kids and we're going to force feed them. And here's the keys. and everyone get excited. You can only, like, you're not going to play kids when you're a contender to, like,
Starting point is 00:33:16 try to make it look like you're doing a good job. You contribute it or you can't, right? I think Howard needs some time in the American League. I like Savoy. I think for a team that needs to get faster, and he spent a whole year in the A and had a pretty good year, he's going to get every chance and probably kill some penalties. And then Thomas Eck, who knows?
Starting point is 00:33:36 He looks like an NHL to me, but it's preseason. And I think, tonight he'll get a look on power play one in the hyman spot because he's a big body he goes to the net um but yeah i you know i don't know if one of if one of those guys ends up being a pretty good contributor to this team that would i think that would be a a win what's the hyman situation i forget hurt well i know he's hurt but what's the timeline he's they they didn't want to put a date on it because then it's like oh if he's not back october 20th now everyone's mad right so they're just saying week to week.
Starting point is 00:34:11 So, yeah, I would say if he's back by November, that's pretty good. Your laundry's down walks. That would be the dishwasher. Quite a show. Yeah. That's the dishwasher. That's of my marital duties. What about, we were talking a little bit about it yesterday.
Starting point is 00:34:35 And you kind of forget. It's, well, you know, Vegas, they got beaten the, whatever it was, the second round didn't look real good. Oh, they were a 50-win team last year, and they go and add Mitch Marner and L.A., well, there's a chance that maybe they're going to be better. What do you make of this division? It hasn't always been the toughest, but there's some, going to be some work to do it to get to the top of it, for sure.
Starting point is 00:34:56 I don't like L.A. I think L.A. is, I think L.A. is the worst they've been in five years. And it would have been interesting to see them play anybody but the Oilers. because I kind of like the way LA's been built, and I think they got worse this offseason. Now you have the Copatar retirement tour, and maybe, I don't know, maybe Dowdy is thinking about finishing his career elsewhere. Who knows?
Starting point is 00:35:22 I think that maybe. Can't beat him, join them. I think the bigger story in the division around the league is there's only like, I think there's only two like easy spots now. It's like Chicago and San Jose. I like the ducks. I think they're getting better quickly, right? Vegas is going to be really good.
Starting point is 00:35:42 They just added a hundred point marter for nothing, whether he can do it in the playoffs or not, who knows, but he's going to be good there. He just is. But yeah, I think the ducks are better. I think I hope to God they're bad, but it's hard to see the Canucks being any worse than what last year happened.
Starting point is 00:35:59 There has to be some bounce back there. I mean, it's still kind of, they ran it back. Like they brought back every guy who always gets hurt. So like, I don't know. Who knows? I don't think the Cracken are very good. But, yeah, I mean, and San Jose is probably a little bit away. But, you know, I don't think they're going to be.
Starting point is 00:36:20 I don't think they're going to lay down for everybody. Nashville might be in that group, boys. Yeah, Nashville could have a tough year depending on they signed some. I mean, they also, they also can't be worse. I was just going to say last year at this time, everyone was touting them as cup. potential. And now a year later, not you, Rhett, not me. Not right.
Starting point is 00:36:41 Honestly, now they're going to be dog shirt? Like, what do we? They wore a dog shirt last year, so I can see them being dog shirt again. Yeah. But they have the same personnel that last year said this is going to be good. Yeah, but we know better now. Now that we've seen it. A year ago today.
Starting point is 00:36:56 Hey, hey, whatever. I told you last year. I didn't want to listen. What, Luke Evangelist is not signed yet either. They don't have a lot of young talent. They're signed. He signed it. Who's not signed?
Starting point is 00:37:06 Is there not a guy that was, or was that last week? Yeah, Evangeloista signed last week, but that was a bit of a hairy situation for a while there, yeah. All right. Yeah, I don't know what to say. They're good. They got Evangelesda. They're good, no.
Starting point is 00:37:17 Yeah, they're set. I think, I think Brady Shea is a pretty good player, and he was not good last year. Like, I think he's better, right? Like, I don't know. It's hard to see them being, like, last, were they, like, three and 20? Like, it can't be worse.
Starting point is 00:37:31 Oh, they were terrible. They were out of it in November. Yeah. Yeah. And then Yosey's dealing with some weird. ailment, but is skating and looks like a play. That would have been a big blow. Yeah, they're running the first round pick as their first line center right now. I don't think they're a playoff team, but they're not going to be an easy out quite like they were last year.
Starting point is 00:37:49 What do you see when you look down the road here? Sorry, Rhett, you're about to ask one. I mean, obviously, you know, you're familiar with the markets. We're very close to everything. This is the Oilers greatest rival, the city you work in. But when you look at the flames, we always end up talking about sort of this long-term plan versus short-term competitive, and I feel like that's probably a lot of the debates they're having in-house. But what do you see? It's tough because I think last year, I think last year, Calgary was a very great, likable story. Like, man, they great goaltending, and, you know, they were a tough out,
Starting point is 00:38:26 and they had started well, and they damn near made the playoffs, but didn't. And to me, that was like, that's everything going right, right? Like, like, I thought they were great last year. So when I look at Nashville can't be worse, like, I don't know if there's another level for Calgary this year, right? Like, I think that I hate using the term regression, but I think that they could play just as well and finish, you know, eight points further back. Like, I still think for Calgary, they'd be better off getting mechanics. Hannah then, you know, making the playoffs. Not that you can choose that, but, you know, like I was telling Boom the other day, like, you know, Wolf and Zeri and Perak, like, I like those guys.
Starting point is 00:39:13 And it's, I think it's fun for fans and you should get excited. And, you know, it's good to have good young players. And also, like, every team has those guys, right? Like, every team has a core of young players they like, for the most part, right? Unless you're an aging contender, I guess. But, yeah, I don't know. It's just that we've had this conversation, even, you know, when I was working there, and Aginla was their best player.
Starting point is 00:39:36 It's just really tough being in the middle, right? And are you trending up or just not good enough? I, you know, I don't know. I think the flames are still a couple of like, you know, if Sharon Govich bounces back and Coronado ends up being a 40-goal guy. Like, yeah, there's some, I think there's some ceiling there. But I don't know. I don't know if I quite see it.
Starting point is 00:39:55 Yeah, I'm kind of with you. Like, Wolf's the guy that could be a star. I don't know who else they have that you're like, oh, that guy's going to be a star. good position to have it but yeah and i know you guys and you guys have been talking about you know preck it's just like you know just because you have this new school of d and everyone wants to play like kail mccar that's awesome and you see it even when kids are 11 years old doesn't mean you are kail mccar right it's like step it's like step curry ruined basketball every everybody just bombs you go to men's league everyone bombs threes doesn't mean you can just because that's how
Starting point is 00:40:25 you should play the game doesn't mean you can play the game that way so you know preck is super exciting. But yeah, like, it's a long way to go for just, just to be instantly, like, Bouchard gets 80 points a year and people still shit all over him here, right? So. Even in Calgary, some people have shit on them in the past. Not real.
Starting point is 00:40:46 On Bouchard. Yeah, some people. Yeah, hard to believe, I know. Yeah, weird. Well, you can still get the 80 points and try in your own end. Can't you? He does the deer in the headlights after turnovers. Or is that you can't.
Starting point is 00:40:58 Not allowed. Is that a new rule? You know, Gary? Guess that rule out to allow him to play him both in. His body language sometimes could be better. He's so good. You know, like you, right? So good and sometimes looked like you weren't trying.
Starting point is 00:41:16 Even though you knew what you were doing, you're in the right spot. Is that what it looked like? Yeah, yeah. Yeah, but sometimes somebody accused you of not try and harden up. What makes Bouchard really good is what also, gets him in trouble sometimes because he's super calm, super poised, doesn't panic,
Starting point is 00:41:37 you know, and he runs a power play and bombs it away and, you know, tight spaces he's good and then, yeah, he's kind of maybe a little too poised in his own zone and doesn't panic and all of a sudden, you know, like,
Starting point is 00:41:52 but yeah. I'm not sure if you've heard, I've heard it referred to as a bush bomb. Yeah, You know what? You could use that night on the big pregame. That's free of charge from Barnburn. Yeah, you could do that.
Starting point is 00:42:06 How do you feel about Rhett? When someone asked you, you worked with Ret Warner, didn't you? What do you tell them? What do I, what do I say? You're Jack laughing in the background? It's a win already. I say that I work with a lot of pro-ex-pro athletes. and I would say
Starting point is 00:42:30 Rett is less affected than most. He's, Rett is very close to being a normal human one of the guys. Close. Not all the way there, but pretty close.
Starting point is 00:42:41 He's a near common human. Is that nice? Wow. That's very nice. That's a compliment. Thank you. Or an almost compliment. Like you think if they added P.K.
Starting point is 00:42:52 Sue Bann to Barnburner, he'd be like a normal, cool guy. Probably not, I'm thinking. I can't see him doing that anyway. It's kind of annoying. comparably you would be the normal one. The looks, the looks that even having guests in studio,
Starting point is 00:43:04 the looks back in the day that Boomer and I would like give each other when we had like, I know, like rest in peace, but Zarli's Elapski and who is the, who is the, who is the insane Winnipeg jet that came in? It's not Morris Likwitch. It's not important. Like, you know, these people, it's like, we're kind of like, what is he talking about, you know?
Starting point is 00:43:27 We had an anthem singer in. That guy wasn't. close to a common person. Yeah, we've had, we would cycle them through. It is, it's damning testimony that this, this guy is the most normal of the bunch.
Starting point is 00:43:38 It really is, yeah. It's like you think when like an astronaut goes to space and they're up there and they see the little marble we live in and like they're floating around, they come back. Like, like, it's hard to just like go to the grocery store after that, right? Like, you know,
Starting point is 00:43:51 it's like nothing matters. Everything's insignificant. And that's, you know, playing in the NHL and the Stanley Cup final PTSD. It's like, pretty normal. C-T-E.
Starting point is 00:44:01 C-T. Thanks, Wox. That's great. You're welcome, buddy. Unreal. Yeah. We're going to go in a little compliment circle. We'll go around the room.
Starting point is 00:44:09 Yeah. That was awesome. Great start. All nice. Thanks for staring. I'd say I'd give you a hug, but I tried that one time and, you know, didn't hear the end of it. Grill out of my face.
Starting point is 00:44:20 I love you, man. I'm good. He's still not a hugger, which is weird. You'd think maybe you get old and sound like. Did you hug after scoring, or do you? you high five. I went back to the, that's what we're here for, man.
Starting point is 00:44:34 That's what I do. Van Bell's here, guys, out of my way. Then the, what was the last goal? The luchador mask doing somersaults on the plane? Was that the last one? Yeah. That's what is it.
Starting point is 00:44:48 Good, good shot. Yeah, top shelf. No, the only guy he would hug is Kiprasov because he made him about a kiss. $10 million. Oh, yeah. always the goalies.
Starting point is 00:45:00 Yeah, another plus 25. Yeah. Yeah. Beautiful. All right, walks. Let's go to talk to you. Yeah, you too. Yeah. Where do people catch the post game show if they want to
Starting point is 00:45:12 pre-post? What are we? Oilers. Because you said the radius is 50 feet, but I'm sure there's other places you can get this show. Yeah, no, it's better than that. It's the sports station up here, 1440, not the Stauffer one, the other one. And, yeah, they pay me a little money to go on the radio. So, you know.
Starting point is 00:45:31 Nice. Say how to stop. He always watches, loves the show. Yeah. Yeah. You had a bob. You guys have gotten into a few heads up here. That's for sure.
Starting point is 00:45:41 Oh, well. Yeah. Yeah. I don't follow the politics of it, man. I'm just here enjoying life. Politics. Politics. Red took a run of the prime minister.
Starting point is 00:45:51 You've got to be careful. Gosh, we're going to get sued. Mark Carney. Mark Carney's not going to be happy. He loves the oil. Spoilers. MC Hammer is coming down. His jobs to make us happy.
Starting point is 00:46:03 We're not here to make him fucking happy. F-bombs. Remember that. Separation. Independence. Yep. All right. Bye.
Starting point is 00:46:17 Andrew Walker, Sports 1440, whatever that is. And doing pre and post. Their studio is at the mall with the rink and the boat in it. And they ate all those. That's awesome. So that's, so when he goes to go, he has to go to the, to the mall. What a highlight. That's not work.
Starting point is 00:46:35 That's, some Sinsabonds. No, no, no, no. Sizio. Wetzels pretz. Some pretzels. What else are you going to have it? Get the Wetzels pretzels. They're delicious.
Starting point is 00:46:45 They got a Japanese village in that, uh, really? Yeah. In the big mall. I gave me a really good chance to plug the website and you just basically said, delicious sauce. Get your bunny years out. Yeah. Sports1440.c.
Starting point is 00:46:57 Is that what it is? Good. Yeah, they got the steak sauce and then the, Jack, you ever have the steak sauce at Japanese Village? I've never been to Japanese. Oh, geez. You're not living, man.
Starting point is 00:47:09 That's hilarious. You know what, Jack, what we're going to do? Team party. We're going to talk about taking you and then probably not take it. Yeah, Christmas. We're going to take you for Christmas. Yeah, we'll go for you and then probably not go. That's fine.
Starting point is 00:47:19 What day are you free? So shoot us some dates. Yeah, shoot us some dates. Shoot us some dates. Shoot us some dates. Shoot some dates. Should it don't work. Crystal Water is plumbing and heating and crystal, uh,
Starting point is 00:47:27 I mean, it's a crystal clear choice. Yeah. For home comfort. Walk's supposed to have him up there putting in a dishwasher. Ding dong. Ding ding.
Starting point is 00:47:36 Get that shit off, Wox. It's got to be some menu where you're always something. But you know what? He's cats in the background. You're not great with it. The two people,
Starting point is 00:47:47 the worst that I've worked with. With technical ability with stuff, Walker and Peter Labardius. And it's close. It's close. It's close. That's a massive indictment on Walker. He's a leadite?
Starting point is 00:48:02 I can't hear anything. We'll plug them in. Oh, I don't even, I don't know how to, you just plug in your head. Like that that took place today. Miracle, I would bet his new bride was probably in the room to help him with that. He's winning. Because there is a word that we can't use anymore. But he is a technical.
Starting point is 00:48:25 I heard that word's coming back. not on this show only C bombs that's right only C bombs we can so we can fire out C boss we can't use that one we can't MF the PM but we can't say that right okay got us we were saying the other day do something for us I'll stop MF in we were going to get some streamers and balloons hung from the ceiling that if we ever get to the point where it's so we're running hot in here that somebody fires out an MF or because an MF that's a big heavy that's yeah that's yeah But Jack, it's kind of like the Japanese village. It ain't going to happen.
Starting point is 00:49:02 It's probably not good. Talk about. Which the MF or the streamers? No, the MF will happen. The streamers and the confetti. If we worked at it, we could do it. We just have to poke you, poke you, poke you, poke you. Because you're the guy that wants you.
Starting point is 00:49:12 I would love to try and achieve it with Robrey. Oh. What a highlight that would be. It would be good. When did they pass through? Yeah, when are they here? Let's go take a look. You kind of got your dander up yesterday.
Starting point is 00:49:26 What? We cruised to the whole show, and then right in your show. at the end when we were talking about, what are we doing? Perrek or Perik? Perak? Who cares? Perk. 19. December 8th.
Starting point is 00:49:38 Then you two kind of did a thing. And then the temperature rose and then you... I was just bringing the energy trying to bring... Is that what it was? Because Jack's always telling me, more energy you got, the better the show. I think you... You called him a name. Did you? So I recall.
Starting point is 00:49:56 Jack, is this true? Yeah, it's true. summer 8 buffalo Sierra, Jack was just saying. Like buddy? No. Pal? No, no.
Starting point is 00:50:08 Chief. It was kind of derogatory. It was like a... That depends on tone and tenor. Tone was great. Yeah, the tone was... Well, the tenor. Tenor not great either.
Starting point is 00:50:21 Poor tone. Not great tenor. Just trying to bring some emotions. Appreciate that. Great job. Thanks so much for doing it. Clarity as to the eating. of Pinders take some sort of outdoor dental
Starting point is 00:50:34 solea laser oh yeah I don't know if I need that but I need dental for sure do you need dental what's going on in your jibs I need them scrubbed up I haven't been for a cleaning in too long it's too long that's not important Ryan this guy gross dr. Jays right there is to the point where when you go in there you feel like you need to have a sit down with the hygienist prior to Okay, so listen, this is not going to go through some stuff.
Starting point is 00:51:02 Yeah. I used to have a job where I had benefits in that. Since then, I've not had benefits, so I'm paying out of pocket. And the visits have been less frequent than maybe they would have been otherwise. So don't hate me. Or just tell them you've been trekking in the Himalayas for four years. Better story. Less judgment.
Starting point is 00:51:21 Yeah. It's not ideal. So when you go in there, don't be judgy. When you go, they don't, you know, don't, when you're, and that outdoor dental, they won't be. They're not touching. I don't think they are. Yeah, which is nice.
Starting point is 00:51:34 Dr. J. Take care you. Yeah, which is nice. Why don't we get a two for one deal? We'll both go. You want to do that? Not really. She wouldn't even go to George straight with you.
Starting point is 00:51:46 He's getting his teeth cleaned of him. And I don't want to go with him. Certain things. Got some computer things going on over here. Got some things. Walker. Maybe. Magic.
Starting point is 00:52:00 Maybe. Well, I'd suck if it shut right down and we had to back it in. So is this? You guys got two more. So is this the thing? Yeah, I completely forgot that I made this last night. I was maybe wrong. Because, you know, we do a two-hour show and we talk about a lot of things.
Starting point is 00:52:18 I'm, you know, math and out. So Salele a laser, the outdoor dental, we didn't really talk about it. No. Sleep like a kitten. Stop snoring. Dentistry with no needles, no stress. Solea laser. Cutting edge.
Starting point is 00:52:30 Yet, no cutting. I like that. Yeah. Snoring treatments. What? The dentist? Yes, that's correct. Two 15-minute treatments.
Starting point is 00:52:37 Increased attention in the soft palate. Reduce the snoring. It's non-surgical. It's pain-free. And if you have these benefit things, you can even do it. You shock them right up there. You bet you.
Starting point is 00:52:47 It's, uh, and the salia laser. It's not like you're going into every dentist office. Yeah. Salias. No, no. It's a nice piece of machinery here.
Starting point is 00:52:55 Two in the entire city kind of thing. And Dr. J. Patel has one of them. Go see Dr. J, book yourself in. Outdoor. Dot Dental is the website. Check it out. Learn more. Book yourself in.
Starting point is 00:53:08 Don't be gross. Like some people. Yeah, we got talking about, it was right here at the end of the show, too. I was like, wow, because the lines came in and said, hey, look, there's the big, big guy in the top line there.
Starting point is 00:53:21 I'm not sure if he's going to stay there or not. Oh, Sharon goes down in the fourth one. I'm not sure about that. No, it looks like Perak is going to be eating popcorn tonight. Oh, hey, oh, hey. Oh, yeah, that was the other concern. Yeah, that was a big concern. concern and then it came up.
Starting point is 00:53:37 And so what happens when he goes out there and learns that he can be a shitbag defensively? And three years from now, when you want to be good, he's still going, he's going, no, this is how I play. So you don't see a lot of teaching moments in a year where he's made defensive mistakes? You're an idiot. Just throwing random bullshit out.
Starting point is 00:53:55 You know I'm right. I don't disagree what you're saying, but I think they're absolutely going to try to teach him the defensive side of the game. Yes, but if you're not held to some. sort of standard of a yeah so what i'm saying is the standard is be better than miramana of being like that's all the standard is
Starting point is 00:54:13 if he's as good as them and they're playing it's not because if that's what you want out of this fucking kid that he's useless what are you talking about so so the standard is being you just said bean was shit and you want this guy to be good so your standard is being i'm saying if bean isn't good don't be sitting a kid for him he's recalating on one side i couldn't raise my voice Maybe they might have escalated on two sides.
Starting point is 00:54:41 Oh, it sounded good. It did sound, and then I did like the, it's just kind of like the actual little poke. We don't need to revisit it. We're trying to have fun. I just sent a note to Jack. Did he call him an idiot or a fucking idiot? During that,
Starting point is 00:55:00 just an idiot. Yeah, it's not that bad. And we got a shit bag in there, which I feel is a bonus. Jake Bean, ticket, strange. Right? Yeah, poor Jake Fee. Better than that.
Starting point is 00:55:12 He's just like, you said he's a shit bail. Yeah, it's not me. I said he had a tough preseason. Like Jake. Yeah. That's what we do for a living, folks. Is this show actually good? Because sometimes I see clips and they make me laugh.
Starting point is 00:55:25 I was like, oh, that's pretty good. But I'm so close to it here. I hate it. Yeah, when you're here. You just hate this show. It's the worst. God. I can't get just head stop.
Starting point is 00:55:34 God, help me. Let's do the pin of a part. With last three. Yeah, less squeaks today. We'll see. Depends how excited you get. Your car is squeaking. You got to get up to Village Honda, all right?
Starting point is 00:55:46 They present the Pender Report, Northwest Automall, dealership for life, village honda.com. The new 20206s, get excited. Let's go. You got a weird winter in Calgary? Yeah, you do. You want a reliable car? Yeah, you do. Village Honda.
Starting point is 00:55:59 Yeah, you do. 2026. It's right away. Does that feel? Sound weird? Kind of just around the corner? Yeah, there's only like six years left on that Hebrito deal. Let's get to a Flames game day, shall we?
Starting point is 00:56:11 He's not in it. It's not his fault. Capp's going on. Not your fault. Not your fault. Oh, look, there it is. There's a young guy that could have a big step up. I'll show you regression.
Starting point is 00:56:21 How's 40 sound? Let's go. Matt Coronado and the boys up in Edmonton tonight, 8 p.m. start. We're going to be a Cowboys Casino at 7. More on that in a moment. As for the topics, du jour, let's head to, that's the soup of the day. It sounds delicious. Flamination.com.
Starting point is 00:56:36 not been great on opening nights in Edmonton or versus Edmonton if you want to dive in more pike Scott. Also, Matt Bay Gridden, the youth movement starting to arrive at teenager on opening night. It's an exclusive club. I would like to see that list. Brick a tall button big guy, eh? Look at them. Yeah, Todd. He's just towering over everybody. Gary's like, this is the worst. Todd was a great center for the Nuggets. Todd was a great center for the Nuggets. I don't know if you remember that in the 80s. That right. She's boxing guys out.
Starting point is 00:57:09 Slamma jamma. Rebound machine. I'm wait, Toddy. TOD. Now, here's the thing. Where's this season going? We don't know. We've had guesses before seasons.
Starting point is 00:57:19 We're usually wrong. We know it's going to start very busily. Three games in less than four days. They'll start a date tonight. They'll be done by their third game by eight on Saturday. And it's, well, three different cities. Two teams that we think are good. Ebenton for sure.
Starting point is 00:57:36 Vancouver should be better. We're in consensus there. How much better we don't know. And the blues after Montgomery came in were one of the best teams in the NHL. Not the easiest of starts. Big test out of the block says Pike. I agree.
Starting point is 00:57:49 How does that affect the big pitcher? Well, luckily, Ryan Pike's broken this down for us on his YouTube page. Will the flames do better or worse this season? Buckle in for 22 minutes and 21 seconds of analysis. And it's getting some run. Oh, boy, Pike. Pike's got a good channel going. Is that a Mr.
Starting point is 00:58:07 is that a potato head up top? That's a Gumba from Mario. Mario. Is that Mario? Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah, the thing of Mario. But he jumps on. Oh, really?
Starting point is 00:58:17 Like a mushroom deal. Yeah. But not the mushroom makes you bigger. Oh, okay. Or invincible like Rhett on a 4 a.m. on a Saturday. Right. After the fights. Different mushrooms.
Starting point is 00:58:28 Great opinion. Pikes, you know what? I can tell Pikes into it. He's turning out some content. He'll be in Edmonton tonight. Oh, making the trip. At the hippo. tank and he'll be checking in with us as, well, we're going to be live pregame show.
Starting point is 00:58:41 Boots on the street. From Cowboys Casino 7 p.m. join us in the sports lounge, comfy recliners. They have this thing that like swivels around like a table and then it tucks around on the side and it's got a cup hold. There's another cup hold of here. Food. No food. Drink.
Starting point is 00:58:53 Drink. It's unbelievable. Don't you don't put your wing bone. Slide it to the guy or do you, right? No, that's the, we do not recommend doing that. That's what you do. No, you don't. Just put them on the plate.
Starting point is 00:59:06 and then someone with the weight staff will come and take them away. But the whole table blows up. Slide him right in front of the boom. You can deal with your bone. No, don't do that. Boneyard. No. Be respectful and classy when you're at Cowboys today.
Starting point is 00:59:19 Here's the thing. Lots of screens, comfy recliners. Let's say just dream it up. There was two sporting events at the same time that needed your attention. You could literally sit back, order, drink specials and food to you while you watch both games without long bake screen remotes pretty good TVs yeah join us tonight seven for the pregame show eight o'clock buck drop and yeah there's some other sports and then if you uh you know you're bored maybe it's between innings or period intermission or whatever quick shoe you want to go play the piano for a little bit
Starting point is 00:59:52 you do that too feel the felt split eights even against face card says dean no down time how that goes right no down time good times coming up uh also tonight the debut of after After Burner this season. Following every Flames game, All-82, we'll have a 45-minute-ish show, recapping the events of the game, and we're proud to be welcoming on the Unicorn Pub. Two locations in town, Stephen Avenue,
Starting point is 01:00:20 also in Mission. And look at these Afterburners, Kent Wilson. Don't make me pose for photos. Gould, here I am, and the star of the show, Cammy, Kepke. And there's Ryan Pike. Who's on everything? There's Pike and Cammy and Gould.
Starting point is 01:00:33 and Kent is dialed in. You want me to what? Smile? No. Unicorn's been named by Molson as one of a very select few of actual Calgary Flames bars. The only two
Starting point is 01:00:49 within walking distance of the dome are the two unicorn locations. They're going to be showing up throughout the season. Molson, giving away tickets. People think they're going to the pub to watch the game. You're actually going to be at the game. There you go. So check in pre and post, mission, downtown, and heck, if you're not at the game you can stay and watch the thing.
Starting point is 01:01:05 Wasn't Canadian on special. Game nights. That's right. Yes. Mulsom bought us around on Monday over there. It's great. The unicorn. That's a song.
Starting point is 01:01:15 Who sings it? The Irish rovers. Who actually used to own that bar. Full circle. It is. Will the circle be unbroken? The other song. It's a big welcome to the unicorn.
Starting point is 01:01:28 Tonight, lots of NHL action. We'll get to that in a moment. But first last night, we had three openers. What would happen? if you put one of the worst teams in the NHL in the building of the champions when they raised their banners. Well, actually, it was pretty close, despite getting out shot like 18 to 3 in the first. I told you to bet on Chicago yesterday. It was one and a half. What was one and a half?
Starting point is 01:01:49 The puck line. Luckily, the money line hit. It was a late goal by Jasper Bowquist that was the difference. Florida was all over them. Spencer Knight was great. Frank Naser looked really good. He of the brand new extension this summer. but Dard rung one off the crossbar early and the Panthers still look like the Panthers. Good start. That's my game summary. I did not watch the second game.
Starting point is 01:02:11 Jack walk us through the debut of a new coach against the guy that used to coach the team you got the job from. Dan the man muse. What a coaching performance. He puts in She-Lovs, shut out. What a performance. What a performance from the coach.
Starting point is 01:02:26 Put together the second line of Melkin, Brazo, and Manta. They're all six-five. They're dominated. They need a name for that line, Jack. That's your job today. Okay, I'll think about it. The Meat Packers? What are you calling it?
Starting point is 01:02:39 They're all big boys. I don't know. Did the hitman kid play? Yeah, he did. He put on the third line center. He was pretty good too. That's the Ben Kendall. That's a big jump.
Starting point is 01:02:46 That's unreal. Rangers didn't look very good. Their bottom six is no good. Yeah, they do have a junk bottom six. It's fair. I guess J.T. Millie didn't play a lot in the preseason. He was dog shit. Yeah, I don't feel very good.
Starting point is 01:02:58 I'm pretty tired. One hit, no shots. dash and jimothy timothy that's not a good msg day i mean come on i've been said last year it's the captain come on now people are focused setting the tone first game follow me boys jury uh wants them all traded yeah it's uh confirmed yeah he'll make it happen and the night game was close till it wasn't abs eventually stopped the kings mcinnon natius mccar all look nasty at times they are so quick that team's going to be a handful fast talented old is real The superstars that on that team are good?
Starting point is 01:03:35 Yeah. Very good. Oh. Yes, quite. Oh. And the Kings, Cody Cici was doing his part. Out of my code. If he was being paid by Colorado, he was heavily outshot dash two and down to nothing pretty quick in this contest.
Starting point is 01:03:48 Yeah, but they got him signed early in the summer, so it was good. Kenny. Kenny. For your deal. I think, Kenny. Good Lord. Yeah. Signing to tell you about.
Starting point is 01:03:58 We saw Connor sign. We saw Caprizo sign. Now, Kyle Connor. What can you buy in Winnipeg for $100 million? Anything? Well, and the funny thing is that's 96 American million. So you're probably talking about $125 Canadian million. You can own Winnipeg, sir.
Starting point is 01:04:13 It's yours. In fact, the Jets franchise was purchased for $110 million. He just didn't deal for $96. Good for them. And the Jets, after watching the likes of Truba and others saying, thanks, but no thanks. They're not missing this chance. it's a bad day for the players don't want to stay in Winnipeg narrative.
Starting point is 01:04:33 And they love their KFC analogy. Kyle bleeping Connor, of course. Have a great day, dunking on false narratives. It's a big signing with them. They got Shifley back. They got Hellebuck back. Now, Connor, that's some great work. Eilers, of course, did leave.
Starting point is 01:04:48 But that's, I don't know that you would have had them resigning three of those four. That's a tough take after McDavid took 12 and a half to stay in Edmonton's. if every deal is going to be measured by that, they're all going to be tough takes, and you are right. I am right. That's up there with the Miramano of on the second pairing. I don't know that that's not going to be comparable.
Starting point is 01:05:11 They kept those shyfully, and I would think out of those three, out of those four, you'd be most prepared to lose Eilers because he hasn't been healthy. The other three are far more important to them. Sure. Yeah, if you were saying, you know,
Starting point is 01:05:25 who's been helping us the most, he's probably two behind hell of them. I'm kind of surprised. I guess I wasn't really thinking about it because, yeah, the season's starting and you don't want this stuff hanging. What a distraction. Such a distraction. You don't want to go into season with an impending unit. Because those guys that are up for contracts, usually they're terrible.
Starting point is 01:05:44 That's all right? We play too. Yeah. Distress and distractions. No distractions for Kyle. Some high fives from people in Winnipeg everywhere he goes. So I'm not to dig too far into it and get people in Winnipeg pissed off. But you are a year away.
Starting point is 01:05:59 Could he not have gotten that money somewhere else? Do you think July 1? Probably. You can't discount injury. You have a $100 million, whatever, $96 million contract. 40 goals every year, boys. Like, he's unreal goals for it. It's right there.
Starting point is 01:06:15 You pay for it. You've already sat down at the table and they've said. And when Caprizov signs for 17, that kind of looks like. That can be yours if you want it. 12. Like I looked this morning, he's played eight full seasons. He's had 30 or more in. seven of them. And the one year he didn't, he had 26 and 56th, the shortened season because of COVID.
Starting point is 01:06:34 So he's a 30 goal guy every year. I guess he's okay, he's okay staying in Winnipeg. More than okay. He's happy to. He just love millions, a lot of, like, yes, he's okay staying in Winnipeg, but he's also, right, earning. But all we're hearing is how much money, the cap's going up and all this. Yeah, he could easily go to UFA and get 80 to 100 million. He wants to be in Winnipeg. It's not McDavid, 12 and a half in Edmonton, but that's, that feels like it's a that's big for the Jets keeping that huge i agree it was not he's american guy too hey american i don't know i don't i feel like you want me to argue there no i don't i still think he made he's got a very fair contract and not everybody wants like he didn't
Starting point is 01:07:18 take discount no that's market got paid yeah and got paid yeah it's and to be fair that's what other guys like trubo wouldn't do they weren't willing to say i'm here long term Eelers, they tried to give them a bunch of money. He said no. So good on the Jets are keeping their best goal score. Yeah. I guess I'm just surprised that he chose, like, yeah, that's, he's getting that money July 1. Yes, but it's, I understand what you're saying.
Starting point is 01:07:42 But who, who wants to stay? Who wants to stay there? Hellibuck. Shifley. Connor. Where's he from? States? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:07:54 Yeah. Somewhere, I think. I could probably, I think I have out here. It's like, oh, he's an American guy. Whatever. Both sides are fine, apparently. Yeah. I don't know why we're.
Starting point is 01:08:04 Mishy. Mishy, Mishy. Yeah. There was a Blue Jays Yankees game last night. Despite Boomer declaring the series over, they did indeed push through and decide to play game three in the Bronx. Jays got up early. And Vlad Guerrero Jr. continued his assault on Yankees starting pitchers.
Starting point is 01:08:24 Let's start there. This is snotch. This is Ernie Clement, who mash his lefties. That's not blad at all. And here's Vladdy rounding third. Look at this dive. Hey. See, when you do the home run trot, you don't get to slide in the home.
Starting point is 01:08:41 He was jacked because he's mostly been hitting home runs in this series. And it gets us, once again, to head back to the old Twitter machine for our favorite account. So you chose that? Just hang on, hang on. Beautiful stuff. Sports, but art. Beautiful. Dean likes this account, but he's not talking. I don't see the need.
Starting point is 01:09:04 What is that bottom one? Is he like flying? That's a famous painting. According to who flies. It's not that. Or at least it is, it's a piece of art. Art enthusiasts might be familiar with it. Yeah. I mean, look at it.
Starting point is 01:09:17 It looks like, that's amazing. How does he do this? It does look like the painting. Yes. You would think it was good times. In fact, some were proclaiming at the end of the series at this point. but wait what is this game one ALCS in Toronto Sunday
Starting point is 01:09:33 this is a wrap this is about when I think Beaver was still in the ball game it was probably would have been right about there just before not long after that slide Arashvedani the decision desk is calling it a wrap game one of the ALCS in Toronto so he's tucked it in
Starting point is 01:09:52 out because right after that of course we saw a guy who's maybe even hotter than Vlad hit a pitch that should be unhittable to the moon. There's the pitch. High ball, deep left field, down the left field. Hey now, three-run, Humber, Aaron's Judd. This game is tied at six-six. I kind of wish Boom was there, but I also don't because he would have left.
Starting point is 01:10:23 Look at all these fans that stayed. They had belief. That was still early enough. I was probably there. Yeah, he probably hadn't finished. I'd eat food and drink. Yeah, I wouldn't have finished eating. I'd just be sitting there miserable and bathing.
Starting point is 01:10:33 Great chicken fingers. Disgusting. Honestly. Some of the best I've ever had. Now listen, it's all over the internet today. This pitch, the speed, the location. He's never hit a pitch like that. People don't hit it, let alone hit it out.
Starting point is 01:10:49 Incredible stuff. 99 on your hands and you keep it fair somehow. In fact, he's never hit a pitch that fast for a home run in his whole career. This is your home run king. This is not the 20 home run sample. We're talking hundreds of home runs, none on a pitch this fast, never mind one, not even in the strike zone in on your hands. Incredible.
Starting point is 01:11:08 Ties the game at six. And yep, the first time in MLB history, well, the stack cast era, out of 528 times, O2 fastball, 99 plus. And it's the farthest inside that's ever hit out. The guy's a bloody superstar. He's the best hitter in baseball. Ed was taking some shit. And not rightfully so.
Starting point is 01:11:29 Well, because on the other side, Vladdy's been unbelievable. It's like, well, where's the Yankee? Where's your big hitter? He was seven for ten before that. Yeah, it was seven. He's been fine. Yankees' first team in Major League history
Starting point is 01:11:41 would be down five runs and danger being swept to come back and win. Teams are 0 and 38 all time in that situation. Move on. It's a huge win for the Yankees. Just reminding you, Siri's still going. The Js played a part in it. I mean, they could catch some fly balls and make some routine plays. I don't know what the hell was.
Starting point is 01:11:59 was happening. IKF at second and the first cost them a run. You have other errors on Tonderry and right field late. Vlad lets one under his glove. Berger drops the pop fly that was an easy out. And this is a team that's been built on defense and not getting out at the plate. The defense was not there yesterday. Four miss cues. Maybe they're worst four in the series.
Starting point is 01:12:17 Like we joke about Jenksie or whatever. And the judge home run, Worth match goes off the foul pole. The foot left, it's a foul ball. Like holy baseball gods or whatever. That was a crazy night for all of that shit to happen. So I don't know. And we're both,
Starting point is 01:12:33 all of us are into this because you either have allegiances with the Yankees or Toronto. Or both. Or both. Yes. Or you're a Pirates fan is just mad at the sport like Jack. But it just, if you were an outsider, of course the two best teams in the American League,
Starting point is 01:12:48 there'd be some back and forth and it wouldn't be a sweet. I might double dip. Tied for the best record in the AL. Do you have one of those jerseys that's like half and half? I'm going to go one over the other. I'm going to double dip. Like the Shen brothers or something. He's wearing a Pirates hat.
Starting point is 01:13:00 I thought that you didn't wear pirates. Season's over. Okay. It's the handbook. He's got it back. How quick was that, right? The holsterer. Thanks.
Starting point is 01:13:10 Sorry, Jack. That's on me. It's hope for next year. Back to you, Jack. You're here. Got it. We showed you the slate.
Starting point is 01:13:15 Let's just pop that up again because we didn't talk about the other series. There has been some great baseball. Seattle needs two to one. That was not great baseball last night for the other. Two hour rain delay. I didn't help either. They're in Detroit for game four. Brew crew.
Starting point is 01:13:29 They're up to Rip. They're going to Chicago to Wrigley. Always fun to see games at Wrigley. And Shohei Otani and the Dodgers are up to nothing going back to L.A. Good luck, Phillies. Stupid L.A. Go away. Honestly, I understand the fatigue, but it's like, do you want to watch Buckebatch,
Starting point is 01:13:45 Shohay Otani, Freddie Freeman? Like, they're superstars. I'm okay with Harper and Schwabre and those guys. Big all right. It's a star power left. Cal Raleigh had a bomb yesterday. it's it's been good baseball if you're sleeping wake up and watch some playoff baseball do you see that highlight big dumper hits the home run yes a guy in like just on just outside of the bullpen
Starting point is 01:14:09 first round a dump 61 here he hit 60 in the regular season like hit caught the fucking ball so he dumped 61 right there took a sweater off dump 62 i mean it was ready just like jack what is this how incredible baseball goods we have a quarterback change to announce i think you're going to like this the browns in division moving joe flacco to the bengals late pick swapping directions jack give us your afc north breakdown i'm worried about his health like he's going to get that line is terrible that's what so you're taking a 40 year old man who can't move yes and putting him behind the worst line yeah of the bengals that's like elder abuse yeah and the memes were meaming
Starting point is 01:14:57 that was not lost on the internet as this gem came to us too soon, perhaps. Beating up an elderly old man, the Bengals O-line teaming up with Mark Sanchez. There is. Poor Packers got to play Flacco again. Yeah, I'm sure they're distraught about this. Yeah, they're probably real broken. Michael Parsons like, damn, I got to go face that Cincinnati O' line again. Damn it.
Starting point is 01:15:19 Sanchez. World records are hard, right? So what you got to do if you want to get in the Guinness Book of World Records is find something unique. This is the 100 meter Lego dash. How fast can you run on Lego, which is one of the most painful moments you experience as a new parent. Oh, bare foot.
Starting point is 01:15:34 Bare foot. Yeah. It's not you saying bold, but I bet you'd tap out after 10 meters. This is a world record attempt to us. Come on now. Come on. She's not even wincing.
Starting point is 01:15:55 She's on some sort of a painkiller. She's high as a kite. Got to be. Yeah. P in this cup, There she is. And the back of her shirt says World record holder? No, it says athlete.
Starting point is 01:16:07 Okay, God is so losing. Women are tougher than us. They have kids. They can run on Lego. It's fine. Man is not going to do that. Right? You can take a run at that world record? No. Why not? I think you could crush that. I don't care.
Starting point is 01:16:23 You don't want to be a world record holder? Not at this event. I'll have to keep looking for rats. almost went down. She did almost go down. Oh, geez. One of those
Starting point is 01:16:35 bridge pieces with the sheriff. That's, I mean, the balance is also. The dedication and the discipline. Unscoken. Yeah. Hey,
Starting point is 01:16:42 I'm a little bit. Kids are there with. They still make those world record books? Yes, they did. When I was a good. Yeah, my boys love what one does.
Starting point is 01:16:51 The other one doesn't read. Oh, one's fiction. One's not, so easy to shop for. Isn't that Jim Patterson, doesn't he own the Guinness book of the World Records?
Starting point is 01:17:01 Not sure about that. We're not going to be able to have it anyway because we're talking to be pre-show, all this AI stuff. Yeah, is that AI, Jack? Is that that new AI video? Prove it, yeah. That looks like, Jack, why don't you AI me winning some world record? We need the, for the Pinder Report needs a serious filter.
Starting point is 01:17:21 We could even know. I like, yeah, like, oh, remember that year? Look at the video. There's a final seconds coming off the clock. It's right here. Who's to say what's true or what's not? It's 20-20. Prove it.
Starting point is 01:17:31 So it's Hondaonda.com. If you're looking for new vehicles, tons on a lot, if you're looking for pre-owned, over 90 units there, never mind access to over 500 within their dealership group. All your automotive adventures begin at villageonda.com. That's why we're living in a simulation. Are we alive?
Starting point is 01:17:50 Or is this a simulation? I had a couple things I was going to share. One is hockey, the other is baseball. We can go to the baseball one. Now we talk Aaron Judge and Bieber. Why do you got to one-up the Pender report? I just remembered I had them. Supplement.
Starting point is 01:18:03 Just remember what I had them. And it may be AI. But the bet, great athlete, MVP's, Vladdy, judge, that sort of thing.
Starting point is 01:18:13 You know who you need to talk about is Ramon Fuentes. Fuentes. Ramon Fouentes. Ramon Fouin says, put on a show last night at Yankee Stadium. I forget what inning it was. But old,
Starting point is 01:18:27 old shulman there. No, no, we're not going to, we're not going to show. it. Oh, yeah. But there's a,
Starting point is 01:18:32 there's a fan on the field. Some idiot. We can't show this because our sphincters are tight and we can't have fun, but we're not going to show it, but there's a fan on the field. And now there's another one on the field. And they're going to have to get them. Okay.
Starting point is 01:18:47 Uh, so this is what it looked like. Now, Ramon Fuentes. Big Yankees guy is one of these security guards. He's wearing a light blue shirt. He'll come into your frame. And this is the first fan.
Starting point is 01:18:59 He's changed the game He's got his camera It did kind of change the game Now here comes Light blue took him down That's room Came in with the tackle On the right side
Starting point is 01:19:12 Now watch him He's going to get up He's not done Where's he going Ramona's like hey Is there another one? Not on my watch Come here you son of a bitch
Starting point is 01:19:21 Uh huh Oh you're going to cut Boom Couple shule ace tackles How's a lot of running Isn't that? I mean the jacks That's their 0 and 5.
Starting point is 01:19:30 They're right there. Give this guy a contract. These are your shoe string. This is some real. This guy should be playing safety. Look at this guy. How does he know? And then like all great players, the great ones, they have that awareness.
Starting point is 01:19:42 The motor. Yeah. Right? He knows that his job is not over. What are these guys doing with the shirts? Give him a raise. Man. Well done, Ramon.
Starting point is 01:19:54 Yeah, that guy's going to be, if they can somehow win this series. I still don't know why at the end you're still like. You know you're not getting out. You know you're not welcome back the rest of you. You know you can't fly international. You should have went to the mound. Yeah. Thank you.
Starting point is 01:20:11 You know what the other thing is too? What do we use to call people that would go on? They'd be called streakers. Right. These guys aren't even taking their gear off. These guys are half-housers. A bunch of lazy bastards. You're trying to make it on Barnburn.
Starting point is 01:20:24 They know if they're naked, they're not going to get on. Oh, why? No, they definitely get on. Is that right? Yeah. Why not? Jack's going to get to fire. If you're going to do this shit,
Starting point is 01:20:32 go all in. Take your gear off, be a man. How have you never done it? Because you've been at sports a lot and you're a drunk idiot a lot of times. Yeah, also never been in a fight drunk. Have you been tempted though? You've probably been tempted or has somebody tried to, hey, you know what? Honestly, I think I might know too much.
Starting point is 01:20:50 Like, the rest of your life sucks if you do that once. Like, good luck going into the U.S. If you've got that on your record, not having it. Really? Yep. Hmm. So traveling. Who?
Starting point is 01:21:03 What's that? According to who. It's a criminal record. You're cooked. What's a lawyer? I could be wrong. We can Google it. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:21:12 Let's call McLeod. Instead of relying on this bullshit, let's call McLeod law. People do not like it. People are very upset when that happens. There are significant consequences. What do you care? You upset people like hourly.
Starting point is 01:21:29 Right. So I'm going to upset people in a way where I'm allowed to travel still. That's the decision tree. So the Nashville trip? Want to be able to go to that. Okay. Because I was thinking if we can. Let's get them busted.
Starting point is 01:21:40 Yeah. You know, Pender would really be good as if somebody got onto the ice here. I was at one of those. Just going to know you. Like the guys in the bench are going to be freaking out on the way you buy. They're going to recognize you. Like scored a goal? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:21:56 Do the, dude. Come on. It's cold in there. I will not be at my best. I'm streaking. No. They've got good girl. cheese at that ring. Insecurity?
Starting point is 01:22:05 No little JL. I have there. The rink, but you could probably. I'll stay in the stands. I can tell us about it. So no? No. Okay. Jack probably. You said you had two things. I do have two things. What do we say? We say a lot of things, I guess, about the day, this day and age in the game of hockey. But a lot of times we talk about how today's young player, they're just not used to getting hit. Oh, they're skating around. They're not, they don't have to take big hits. So they just
Starting point is 01:22:31 kind of, okay, whatever. It's a little. Look, the puck's right in my feet. How about that? Headshot. And then every once in a while, somebody's like, maybe I am going to throw a body check here. Still out of the blue. Still a context.
Starting point is 01:22:41 First game of the season, Josh Manson. Now, at the top of your screen, you can play it here, Jack. That's the L.A. King player, Turcotte, I believe, has the puck right by the Toyota sign. Oh.
Starting point is 01:22:54 And he gets leveled by Josh Man. That's, sorry, it's Fogel. Warren Fogel. And he doesn't know he's going to get hit. He doesn't have the puck. Josh Manson says one potato. He dumps it in. Potato, bang.
Starting point is 01:23:17 And then we get a Donnybrook. Yeah, a little Donnybrook. I don't think Warren Fogel thought he was going to get, I was going to take one. None of them do. And guess what? If you weren't having your head up, your hoop, you wouldn't have got hit.
Starting point is 01:23:33 Because you'd have been aware that, oh, I'm coming through the neutral zone with my head. head down. And that's Josh Manson. Do you think, is he had to go to the dark room after that or whatever? Dad used to crush guys. Oh, yeah. It's tough.
Starting point is 01:23:45 Now, do you think that goofy silver lid protected his melon? Oh, yeah. It looks like blades of steel on the full screen. I don't know if you saw that, too, like silver and black. Yeah, what do we think of this? Didn't they warm up in their other jerseys and then come out of me? I read that online. It's basically the purple and yellow logo on the black and silver jersey.
Starting point is 01:24:04 But yeah, they wore the different jerseys. All the old, I'm tired. I'll pull you down. I like that. So it was a big night. Also saw A.J. Greer have a tilt in the first game as well with Nick Folino. Right. It was spirited.
Starting point is 01:24:19 Good to see a couple of tilts on opening night. That's kind of elder abuse. What's Felino doing? He shouldn't be. You're in there, okay. He's a big boy. He shouldn't be fighting anybody. He's good at it.
Starting point is 01:24:27 That AJ Greer, man, like, he was so good here. And then what? Broken ankle, broken tib, fib, something like that, weird angle on the boards. Oh, you could have resigned him. We could trade him for assets. He's a great fourth-liner. I kind of barely remember him. You're like 10 goals?
Starting point is 01:24:42 God, he was good. I get him on the roon dog all messing. No, I still remember Pinder raving about it when he was here. It was hard to. AJ Greer, how great he was. Yeah. He was a very good fourth-line winner. Back him up.
Starting point is 01:24:57 Back him up. Cup champ, eh? Yeah. I think he likes it there. I think he loves it there. I think they love him. Be happy to take less. You guys want to talk flames?
Starting point is 01:25:08 Flames. Something's happened to rat. What happened today? Why? You got to burn your saddle all of a sudden. I got up early today. Did you? Did you go hunting?
Starting point is 01:25:19 Did you get in there? Did you call someone an idiot? Would that help? I've said a few things. Call someone a shit bag? I didn't do it. Shitbag is such a good one. Oh yeah.
Starting point is 01:25:30 Pender said he was a shit bag. I didn't see. Yes, you do. Yep. He said he had like a 24% It's right there on the internet. What are we talking about? What'd you call the PM?
Starting point is 01:25:41 I don't know. Shady prick of some shady prick. Shady prick, shitbag. Well, I'll done this way. It's only Wednesday. Yeah, it's over. I just think it's lazy. You can just use F bombs and, like,
Starting point is 01:25:53 let's show you a little creativity in our cursing. Could we? I like it anyway. Well, we don't need to talk about the flames. What are you going to talk about? Flames. Well, we had Bobby. Munich had the thing on, I guess it went on
Starting point is 01:26:08 Flames things about, about Germany, but yeah, about you know, about this Flames team. Walks kind of, you asked Wax. Like, what do you think about this team? And he kind of nicely said, I don't think they're very good. He also didn't say they're really bad either.
Starting point is 01:26:20 They've got some young players, but a lot of teams. Middling. Ninth in the West. Who leads the Calgary Flames in points this season? Cadry. I know, barring a trap, but yeah. Yeah, I don't see who else.
Starting point is 01:26:42 It's tough to see who else. What was he last year and what was Huberto? Well, they were close. He would have just got over 60, if I'm correct. It might be Huberto. He somehow, starting to hear hurt, though. Gosh, that's my caveat. That's my caveat.
Starting point is 01:26:58 Is that a caveat? I hang nine tonight. He's missing out. Pudreighted 67. Huberto had 62. It'll be those two again. Then Weeger with 47. Oh, weeks.
Starting point is 01:27:09 Wow. And Coronado. And Coronado. Yeah. Leader in goals. Coronado. Last year he was Hubertoe with 28. Or sorry, sorry.
Starting point is 01:27:22 After Caudry, 35. Hubert O 28, then Coronado 24. Huberto. Wow. You love Hubey. Nice. Hi. Holy.
Starting point is 01:27:37 Well, he's the highest paid player, so he's our best player. Okay. Interesting. Is there somebody that you're kind of, whatever, mid-off? Who would be the biggest pleasant surprise? I liked your head mentioned the other day of Joel Farabey, because he's been lighting up the preseason worth nothing, but a better omen than not lighting up the preseason.
Starting point is 01:27:58 And I'd love to see Frost have a good year, given that he's a young center. You can't get to pick everybody. What's that? When we get to pick one, you can't name seven or eight. Fairby's a good pick. You take five teams in our football picks. I'll pick two guys.
Starting point is 01:28:10 Your turn. I like Farabee. Sharon Govich. Yeah, I mean, it needs to 32 years ago. 3 plus, go get it. I'm not starting. Are you Igor?
Starting point is 01:28:21 Are you, Igor. How'd you get 17 goals? He was dog shirt most of the year. And then it's scroll. Joe Colburn. 17. Is this 20 questions? Yeah, that's kind of.
Starting point is 01:28:36 20 is too many. It was always too many. We used to do 20 questions, Jack. It was great. Yeah. Was it? Biggest disappointment. end of the year
Starting point is 01:28:48 I think probably last year Sharon Govich might have been a candidate for that. Oh, for sure. The D or the D? I don't think that's I can't say Sheridanovych. You're going to piss someone off
Starting point is 01:29:04 when you answer. I can't say Sharon Govich because he already disappointed last year and then I can do it again. Then I just said he was going to be the I'll say Devin Cooley. That's easy pickings too, isn't it?
Starting point is 01:29:19 It is easy. but yeah. He could be the surprise candidate. If he gives him some solid. Yeah, because he didn't in the HL for half a year and now he's in the NHL. Coleman. Last year, Blake Coleman,
Starting point is 01:29:33 15 goals, 39 points in 82 games. Yeah, it's, you know, when you're on that line, and he's checking, like that's, yeah, when you're on that line, it's almost like you're free of scrutiny. Well, it's just the points aren't how your measure.
Starting point is 01:29:46 So, yeah, you didn't score much. Yeah, but. David get a high trick. Sorry. I'm on the check. Oh, he's not doing it. I don't want him to, but he's got the potential to. I think the guy with the biggest potential is Huerto because of the price tag
Starting point is 01:29:57 and because of the bounce back offensively last year. He's a professional. Not suggesting he isn't. Rasmus Anderson. Will he be traded? When? And where? Oh, where?
Starting point is 01:30:16 Yes. Yes or no? Traded? Yes. Yes. For shizzle. I don't see how he doesn't. Please, guys.
Starting point is 01:30:23 please blood oath Vegas it's gonna be tough to make the money work there I thought they just dumped that Peter Angel that's why they got the martyr money yeah oh I'll say Tampa Vegas seems to find a way I mean Mark Stone's always available to free up 10 mil or so
Starting point is 01:30:46 but then you want them back for the playoffs little wrinkle well there's a playoff cap now so all that deal yeah they have to change their strategies they're dark arts it feels like Dallas is a great fit it always kind of has I mean Toronto would probably love them too To be fair, he's a second pair of right shot defensemen. Almost every team could use an upgrade. Yeah, any team that wants to win.
Starting point is 01:31:04 Huge. Huge amount of teams that would be chopping. But this feels like it's going to go to the deadline. That's typically where you get the most for guys. So it would make sense if they did that. But if you get an injury at the right time and this team's way out of it, don't wait. If you get an injury to the guy you're trying to. Yeah, that's, they don't want that injury.
Starting point is 01:31:24 Yeah. Remember the tan of one? He'd been down the tunnel like six times. Just trade them. I don't care what the returns. What number would you keep him at? I think the number would be term more than dollars. They're not capped out.
Starting point is 01:31:37 You don't want to buy the 16th through 18. I've got to be able to trade them at some point for, here's my philosophy on the team chat. I don't think they're knocking on the door. Can they have another good year? Yeah. Could they sneak in? Last year proved that anything's possible.
Starting point is 01:31:56 Are they going to get through? Alberta? No. Best case scenario, you play the Oilers in round three. Are you, really? Mm-hmm. All for what? What was it? Eight Days in Jet Fuel was the Sutter line? To me
Starting point is 01:32:12 So, I forget what I was getting at. What was your question? How many years? How much? Oh, I have to be able to use utilize him as an asset. And for him to sign, he's going to want a no trip. And I don't want to ride it out because here's an asset that I can use to get difference makers that are going to matter when it
Starting point is 01:32:32 matters. And you have that ability now to trade them to all the six teams. Hence, the trade. Hesitation to signing him at any number. Yeah, even though the cap is going up. Cap space is still important. There's still value in it. It just, well,
Starting point is 01:32:47 it's maybe not the best analogy, but it's just the way I say, you drafted Raspis Anderson in the second round. That's a hell of a deal. It's like when you bought a car, you're leasing a vehicle. He's been great. It's been great for you. You got a good deal when you bought it.
Starting point is 01:33:02 It's been reliable. You've driven it. But you don't. And you can sell it now for more than you paid. Yes. You can. The flames have a really unique setup that they have a ton of right shot players on the back end. That is unique.
Starting point is 01:33:17 Most teams don't have any. His market ability to other teams versus Uyghurs are ready. Perix are ready. You know, you got the Saskers are ready. Bristavich is already. has had four points in his NCAA debut. He's going to be a really good player. I think he's a right.
Starting point is 01:33:31 You're just swimming in right shot D. I almost don't care about the number. Go get young assets. Go find some people that it can come play with Zane Perak in four years and head into their prime, not coming out of their prime. That's my concern. Even if the lawyers are right with Echle, he's what, 35, right? Yes, they're in their window now.
Starting point is 01:33:52 Yeah, that makes sense. Anderson's still here when he's 35, can he be effective? I don't care about the cost. of it. Is it the right approach to your asset management? Yeah, it's a, it's a philosophy about building a contender. I don't, you, you're already going to have Uighurs longer in the tooth. You've got a ton of right shots. Like, you can't be expecting Prime Rasmus when he's 33.
Starting point is 01:34:15 Why? It's just like nine times out of 10, a 33 year old season for a defenseman's nowhere near his peak, right? It's like, Geo was the one outlier. It's tough to name a second guy. Like there would be more guys, but Gio was so close. to what we're looking at. The flip side of it is, and I catch myself there. It's just, I'm right, just get young.
Starting point is 01:34:35 And that you can get too young, you can get too young too fast. It can't just be about, you still need to play games. There's 82, there's fans and guys in the locker room and all of that. And meager places exactly. But I just, yeah, you've got, it just feels like it's time. It makes the most sense. And I will say this. I've been thinking about this.
Starting point is 01:34:55 It's because I, well, Conroy, but judge Conroy by his action. not his words. Because Conroy will come out and say the right things. It's like we love Raspus and boy, if there's a deal to get done like in that example. But if you look over the last few years, has there been anything that Craig has done that you've been like, oh, pulling my hair out, what are we, why are we, this is, there really isn't. If you are, if you are on, not even team tag, but you're more on team rebuild, get younger. He hasn't gone to July 1 and spent stupid money on somebody.
Starting point is 01:35:29 He's made the trades. He's traded everybody whether or not he got what you thought you were going to. He's traded everybody. He hasn't walked to anybody to free agency and then lost them. He has done everything that I think the rebuild fans want to see. Yeah. The critique would be he's allowing these things to run right to the deadline and the expiry year. Like you could have got a haul for Rasmus in theory at last year's deadline.
Starting point is 01:35:54 You don't know that. Brian Dumolin got a second last year. You don't know that. Of course you don't know. but it would be safe when you looked at the prices around the market that Rastos would be worth with it. They weren't prepared to trade them. They didn't go far down the road because they were in a playoff spot.
Starting point is 01:36:07 If you took maybe the bigger picture of you, you opened yourself to making a great deal there. They didn't. It's the last year of his deal. He's letting the issues come to him when they come rather than being super proactive. And I'm okay with it. I and again, without knowing, my thought there is, if there was a deal worth doing, he does it. In a playoff spot? Yes.
Starting point is 01:36:25 That wasn't what the insiders reported at all. They basically said he wasn't really on the market. It can be both. Yeah, it could be both. They didn't want to move them. They were trying to make the- No, we don't want to move you right now. We can move you next year and still get assets in return.
Starting point is 01:36:41 But if the trade was gone, I have to move them. I think he would have. I don't think the trades that were maybe being offered for Anderson last year at the trade deadline or whatever were the ones that he thought were. And already we heard there was an LA deal to be done, but Raspus didn't want to. sign an extension. That's not Craig's fault. No, but you don't have to worry about an extension if you trade him at the deadline last year.
Starting point is 01:37:03 You can't even sign an extension. But it wasn't, to get that package from L.A. was contingent on him signing. Right. But either way, you'd worked out a deal that was what we understand, to be a very good deal. Yeah, it sounded like some really good players, like a first and maybe green train. I don't know. I just, because Craig says the right things. Well, of course he does.
Starting point is 01:37:22 We're open to resigning him. Of course you are. Of course you are. He's going to sign for two years at $5 million. Of course you'd resign him. He's not. But and even if you weren't, you're not going to say that you aren't. Right.
Starting point is 01:37:30 Because that closed the door. That closes the door on it takes away leverage in a trade and all of that. I think Craig has done what you would want him to do. He's been, ah, yeah. He signed Anthony Matt a year ago. Okay, whatever. It was worth a shot. Didn't hurt anybody.
Starting point is 01:37:47 Didn't sign anybody this year, really. Brought back Hanley, short-term deal, low money doesn't hurt you. You know, I don't know, the goaltending thing this year. I don't know if that's even on him. It's just the kids are playing. It's not like there's when Coronado was ready to come up. He came up. What are you doing with Perrick?
Starting point is 01:38:02 Well, he's here. Gridden's got, he's here. Hansa, give me. Yeah. Now, if you could pick, would you have rather them dealt with Rassas by now? Only because. In a vacuum, in a vacuum.
Starting point is 01:38:13 Yeah, of course. And I think he would say the same thing to you. Probably. Yeah. Until I see the deal that happens. Right. Right. And everyone's healthy right now, relatively speaking.
Starting point is 01:38:24 And teams will get major injuries on the back. and what teams are willing to part with to get Rasmus will likely increase towards the deadline because that's how this league's operated for a quarter century. So I understand why they're taking him into his last year. I'm not worried about resigning them. I think there's a 0% chance they walk him to UFA. He came in in his opening press conference as General Manager and said, we're going to play the asset management game.
Starting point is 01:38:46 We're not going to walk guys to UFA like they did with Johnny. He hasn't done it. He's held his end of the bargain. Yeah. He hasn't done it. You know, you can nitpick certain things, but generally speaking, he's done a solid job of asset management. Would you rather have sent Miramadon and kept Selovia?
Starting point is 01:39:04 Okay, but we're really talking about seventh defensemen. Yeah. So I don't know. Well, I feel like this team is going to tell us all what they are. And that's what he's doing. He's letting the team tell them, right? It's not super exciting, but I said it a year ago and I was wrong. I just don't see how they're, I don't have real high hopes for
Starting point is 01:39:28 them this year. It does not feel like a playoff team. It feels like they're closer to that bet 365 number than they would than they were a year ago. Yeah, which is 83 and a half versus 96. That's a significant spread, 12 and a half points. And yeah, there could be some bounce backs, but not everyone's going to bounce back and there's going to be some regression from some of those older guys. Yeah. It's just going to happen. Hebrador career high goals. Does he duplicate or was that the career year? Yeah. Cotry, 35. That's a high water mark. for him. Does he duplicate or was that a career year? And we'll see with the goalie. What kind of environment seeing? We talked about it last week. It's the one thing that hasn't even gone into
Starting point is 01:40:07 my mind is that, well, Wolf could have an off year. That's allowed. You can still be a great young goalie and be top 10 in the world and have a stretch of bad games. Jeremy Swaven was in everyone's top 10 goalies this time last year. The team in front of him wasn't good and he didn't have a great year. He still got goalie. And they picked what, six. They got James Higgins, eight, somewhere there. Like, it can happen. Igor Shusirkins, or Sorokin's team, Elias Sorokin, like, that's an elite netminder.
Starting point is 01:40:37 His team picked first. They won the lottery to get there, but like, it's not like when you have a good coldly, you never pick high. UC Soros, good goalie. His team picked really high. You look around the league, even at some of the, you know, whatever we want to call it, bottom feeders, near the bottom.
Starting point is 01:40:52 San Jose Sharks, not very good. But getting better. They've got a number one overall pick. They've got some young players. there that you're very excited about. Hell yeah. Chicago. We'll see, but our exciting young player.
Starting point is 01:41:04 Nashville? Okay. Still some good players though. Philadelphia. They're kind of in it as well, but they're they just drafted Mishkov high. They've still like connecting that sort of thing. I don't know. It's there's a lot of teams out there that have some exciting young talent.
Starting point is 01:41:21 There's really one team that we're expecting to definitely be worse than last year. That isn't trying to make the playoffs and that's the penguins that's it. I don't know that there's a second team where they're like, yeah, it'll be worse than last year. Like, we think the San Jose and Chicago's and Anaheim's are going to be a little bit better. You know, we could talk ourselves into Nashville being better.
Starting point is 01:41:40 Everything went wrong last year. Ditto for Vancouver and New York. One team is actively chasing McKenna right now. That's Pittsburgh. That didn't watch last night. That's right. That's right. She lost.
Starting point is 01:41:53 She lost. That's a guy and the man. That's right. trade down at Arthur Cilovs. Imagine if you win the draft lottery. And the first time you ever pick first overall is when the guy like that's available. God, even if you pick second, that's really good. Imagine the vibe in this city.
Starting point is 01:42:09 People will be losing their GD minds. Something nice could happen to this franchise. That's what you're suggesting. Imagine. Can you imagine? I don't, and I don't mean, I've actually thought about this a fair bit. Are the kids? So McKinnon.
Starting point is 01:42:25 this year. Yeah. Are they that much better than they were, do you know what I mean? Or is there so much hype because you're, it's, it's strong, do you know what I'm getting at? I'll give you an example. He's a great player. Absolutely going to be awesome. But every year, the number one has to be. Here's the example. Was there a bigger hype train in the last five years than Bader at one? Probably not. No. And I, what was the circus and the, the, the buzz around Celebrini? It's okay. Who's better right now today? Celebrating. Like, it's just... And we're closer to it. Those are ones. Those are ones. I think DuPont's the guy you want. If you want my honest opinion.
Starting point is 01:43:05 There's another year away. I know. No, of course, you know, I'm just for the fans here. But, I mean, McKenna feels like... That's a star. No, but every time it's... No, I know. It feels like, oh, generational, generational.
Starting point is 01:43:17 Generational. That is Sheifer last year. Yeah. Schaefer wasn't, for sure. Power was kind of like that's COVID year. It beats good, but not a superstar. I just feel like there's a lot. a lot of generationals that are supposed to be.
Starting point is 01:43:28 Yeah, you're right about that. A generational should be once a generation, and we hear it every three years. That's not fair of these kids. The dude's the guy for this generation. It was Sid before him. Before that, you had Mario before that, you had Wayne.
Starting point is 01:43:41 Those are the generational in Mount Rushmore guys. Nate Buchanan's pretty good. Yep. You take a night? Not generational, but I don't know that it's, yeah, that's just it. And it sounds like you're slighting. It's like, no.
Starting point is 01:43:54 It's more just a hall of favor. It's just that the height train gets crazy. Crazy, right? Kail McCar is more generational, in my opinion, only because he plays defensemen at that unique. Since Bobby Orr. Yeah. You know what's crazy about the draft here is it's, maybe I'm wrong. But it's not, I don't feel like it's something that Flames fans, because it's never been high enough, that you get super pumped for.
Starting point is 01:44:15 It's more of like, please don't mess it up. Like, who's at 16? I don't even know who's left. What about 13? Oh, nine. That's exciting. Did he have one of those top picks? You're like, okay.
Starting point is 01:44:26 And A. Yes. Yeah, we can debate this till it's Or if you got number one, it just It doesn't have to It's just like Even think about what Leon at three did for the Oilers Because we always make fun of them for four first overalls
Starting point is 01:44:40 Leon's the second best player They've ever drafted. Pull Yarvey didn't work and they've had some Yakopov was a bust And he was a one. Ryan Nage Hopkins, a nice player, certainly not a star. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:44:50 But like dry saddle at three That allows you to have two superstars and theoretically have a dynasty. It's not doing a great job of selling this season The big get big watch party tonight of Cowboys It's gonna be fun regardless We're gonna have a hell of time
Starting point is 01:45:07 Just have fun watching Remember last year we were castelluling Oh I don't think it's gonna be that good The big fight right off to Go out Manza get him And then Gare and the Overtin overtime Woo look at this we had a montage Got all excited
Starting point is 01:45:19 That could happen What the draft 16th oh Yeah Montreal's pick Had that pick in Longue, yeah. I like the, I like the player. North Dakota.
Starting point is 01:45:32 Yeah. Yeah. Cole or Roshney. I made his uncle. Sure. Interestingly, the Canucks did pick ahead of the Flameson last year's draft. And Braden Coots made the team out of junior, right out of his draft class. We'll see how long they hang on to him, but you could see him in the line up against the flames tomorrow night.
Starting point is 01:45:49 Another center from the Western League. That big, written. Gridden made it. Took me here. Good work. Good work. Hansick's here. two years in a row. Even with a rat dragging
Starting point is 01:45:59 them down. Look at them succeed, huh? There's a lot of weight to carry when I'm on your back. Let's take a look at our 365 bets. Bet 365, get a little taste. Game props, player props, totals, the money line, whatever your bet is, it's never ordinary at bet 365. You've got to be 19 or older.
Starting point is 01:46:17 Download the app and get in the game. Watch you. All right. Oh, hang on. Hello, it's never ordinary. Download the app today. Use the code is, oh my. Oh. Well, I mean, we remember the last time these two teams played.
Starting point is 01:46:34 Leon scored twice. What did they call this? The sadness hedge or whatever is happiness hedge. And Vladdy, they started walking them last night. The books have not adjusted. It's brilliant. If he's up with two outs and a runner on first, you do not pitch to him. You walk him.
Starting point is 01:46:52 Booney figured it out. Only took him three games. over a half walk plus 200. Leon two points. Better than even money. There you go. Got 365. Took a look at some Mac Coronado shot totals,
Starting point is 01:47:07 some cadre shot totals. You can be in on McDude for his coronation. It's going to be an absolute circus tonight. Everyone in that building is going to be crying, thanking Connor for not leaving cultural capital. They've got the second place banner, the second place rings. It's going to be a big night.
Starting point is 01:47:24 I'm not sure if this is. works. What does work. I had to do a little reboot. We got the horn going. I hit it without even seen if we had one. Luckily, we got one. Super chat.
Starting point is 01:47:33 During the course of the show, you put a comment in with some money. We're going to show that comment, talk about it, react to it. Probably take a poo on you. And then we'll give the money to the U.S. Centers of Calgary. Danny Boy, some euros. Oh, look at that little play on words there. Last season ended with peak pain.
Starting point is 01:47:49 This season equals peak gain. Is it where how? I hope you're right, Daniel S. I hope you're right to it. Is he on Team Tank or is he on Team Flames in the playoffs? It feels like he's Team Tank. Yeah, again, it's not Tank. I feel like Tank feels like you are taking the team down a route
Starting point is 01:48:11 that they otherwise wouldn't be on. We literally just talked about McKenna. You're taking success and giving it the middle finger. We're talking about asset management and savvy roster decisions and getting high picks. Team Rebill or Team Reb. Team RB. It's the RB. It's the RB. Remember we couldn't even use the word?
Starting point is 01:48:30 We just called the RB. I'm with Pender Tank. Oh, Lowell. $5. Officially official. Eat a bag of Dix season for the Oilers. And then... Number eight, equal sign, equal sign, equal sign, equal sign, equal sign, equal sign, capital D.
Starting point is 01:48:46 It's a big one. It's a lot. Yeah. So a bag of Richards, says him. Kenny boy. Ken's got a wrench? How does a can have a wrench? Oh, he does.
Starting point is 01:49:00 He just puts it in his name. Oh, can you sneaky, Snickerson. Can come. $20. He knows. Okay, fellas!
Starting point is 01:49:09 I think I speak for everyone here. When are you guys going to have some barn burner gear available for purchase? Please take my money. Very, very sure. Dollar sign bag emoji, period. I've heard it's impossible to get.
Starting point is 01:49:22 Yeah. To make you. The world's out of fabrics. We can't make any. We left it on Jack's desk for two years. Nothing's happened. So I guess it's awesome. Oh, wow. Yeah, it's Jack's fault. Yeah, you don't want
Starting point is 01:49:34 to do it. Here's the thing. Somebody's got to be good at it. We're not good at it. And then somebody's got to be good at taking initiative to ask somebody else to do it. We're not good at that. I think we're going to shortly run out of excuses, though, because I actually think you could probably go on that little machine in front of you and just push a button and then push the mic button, and it would do it for you. Right.
Starting point is 01:49:54 But then you'd do it and then. It might suck. Grumpy Grumperson, but this fucking sucks. This looks fucking stupid. So then we'd be, okay, well. That's what you worry about at night is living up to Grumpie Grumperson standard. I'm sure you lose a lot of sleep over that.
Starting point is 01:50:07 It's not easy. It's probably a little sleep more. It's not easy. Your point's a good one though, Ken. Ken, we're going to get on that before the Cuberdo contract expires, leave it in our hands. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:50:17 We'll have it in time for the draft lottery night when the flames get that first overall pick. We'll have t-shirts for everyone. at our party that night. What should they say? Like just barn burn, or? Big dumper, 60.
Starting point is 01:50:33 Big 60. Thanks, Ken. Been there? Thanks, Ken. Love you, Ken. You know what that is? That's a little bit of, initiative.
Starting point is 01:50:46 That's giving us a little push, right? What do you call that? Proding. Yeah, sometimes you need a little bit of, hey, motivation. I don't know if it's motivation. Motivation through embarrassment? shame
Starting point is 01:50:59 yeah did you say year it was Ryan year four for us that's right yeah today year four today by year five Ken yeah year one we had merch don't what happened year two and three year four new year upon us we had some but it went so sideways it was good for a while
Starting point is 01:51:16 and it was awful and then we're like well we can't even put our name on that now here we are they made shirts that you can see through oh I like those yeah it wasn't a night in red deer hello he was just getting it to strain my gravy the other day who's going to wear this shit hey uh 995
Starting point is 01:51:32 this is just this is this is some bickering within the chat good yeah put your money where your mouth is yeah take that Lydia yeah Lydia I agree yep yep you should put your money where your mouth is you tell them 99 I think that's winner
Starting point is 01:51:53 gentleman gentlemanianiac yeah we've new arena equals generational player draft exactly. If you like conspiracies, it's a good one. Penguins in bankruptcy, lockout year, random draft for first overall.
Starting point is 01:52:07 Sydney Crosby goes to Pittsburgh. They get a new rink. Franchise selling for billions of dollars. What happened to Detroit? Detroit has not had any draft lottery. Islanders just finished a new rink. They finished like ninth or tenth from the mall. They won the draft lottery.
Starting point is 01:52:20 They moved up, pick number one, Mattis Schaeber. How about it? Empton Oilers, they got a new rig done. And they got four first overall picks. Awesome. Great. Cool.
Starting point is 01:52:27 That's what I'd like. I'd like to negotiate the four first of all the rules. Because I think the next two will be real good. Two more after that is Maddox too, isn't it? It might be the Schultz boy out of Virginia. Again, another. A lot of Western leaguers all of a sudden. You think about it like Fadarine, Salberini.
Starting point is 01:52:43 Can you have back to backs? They've changed the rules. The oilers screwed the whole system with their futility. They had changed the rules every year. Isn't there some wrinkle you can't? Now, you cannot win the lottery pick first and still win the lottery. But to win, it limits how much you move up if you win at a certain amount of time. I feel getting Daryl Kate's rule, yeah.
Starting point is 01:53:00 Getting picky about that feels. No, we're not going to get picky. Just pick high. Get some stars. When you've never picked in the top three, start to be, wow. Which year do we want number one? No, just any place.
Starting point is 01:53:16 That's it. No. Is there more? That's it. That's all. Are we doing Super Chat on all them? I guess so. Why not?
Starting point is 01:53:34 So tonight, Flames game starts at 8 o'clock. We're going to be at Cowboys Casino at 7. A little pregame show. CERN. You got no plans? Come on down. Reth's going to be there. Tim Hunter's going to be there.
Starting point is 01:53:44 Jack's going to be there. Yeah. It's going to be great. I'll try and be there. We'll see if the Blue Jays bullpen shows up. They'll be there in theory. Well, the bullpen's going to show up. It's whether they can do anything about that team that Dean can't.
Starting point is 01:53:59 Let's not get in. Here a road to day, right. Then the game's going to be on, and then the after burner afterwards. Busy day in the old flames of Asian U-tubes. Yeah, a lot going on. A lot going on. We're into it. Look, we spent all summer bitching a moment and nothing to talk about.
Starting point is 01:54:11 We're finally here, boys. Yeah. Congrats to Kyle fucking Connor on his new deal. Luckily, we're excited about it. Very much so. Very much. Yeah, unbridled enthusiasm. Probably that's the way to describe the show.
Starting point is 01:54:24 We had some real hockey talk today. Did we? I think so. God, that's scary. Yeah. I think we did. Hey, Jack. Hello.
Starting point is 01:54:33 How's the show today? Great show. Good to see Walker. Oh, yeah, he was on. He was on. Yeah, his dishwasher was singing. Diswasher is people doing his yard. I felt bad.
Starting point is 01:54:44 I had to kind of, that's kind of rain pinned her in there. Oh, come on. Like, you got to protect walks. Come on. No, it's just, it's like, it's a fun banter. He gets it. It's like, oh, what about Walker's feeling?
Starting point is 01:54:55 We're okay. It's not about Walker's. You can shoot barbs at each other. It's all right. You just, it levels and then levels. And then levels. And then. It's where it was headed.
Starting point is 01:55:03 They probably made some mistakes. Okay. Probably. I speak pinderies. I'm fluent in it. You deal with it every day. I don't know how it goes. So, yeah.
Starting point is 01:55:19 So good job by you. Enjoy the coronation tonight, everyone. Yeah, good job. That's it. We had a good show, Jack says. I'm married in the cultural capital. That's right. See you, buddies.
