Oh, buddies, welcome to another edition of the podcast here on a,
we were just talking about in the pre-show,
another rainy day here in the city of Calgary,
according to Environment Canada,
the 17th day with moisture,
17 rainy days out of,
I believe today's the 30th.
So just about half,
just about half of the days have been,
been rainy and wet here in the city.
No wonder you moved away.
I mean, this is the shits.
Farmers are, well, I can't, yeah,
I guess if they've got the seed in the ground, the farmers are probably
happened.
I would think,
now.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Mitigating the, you know, the, the whole, uh, drought, dryness, that, that, that, all those
concerns.
Because there was, uh, talk of, you're going to have to have water bans and, uh, all that
sort of thing.
It's been pretty quiet on that front.
But I would think probably about it, if it's a, if we get a sunny weekend somewhere,
it's not, uh, just back off.
unless you're really, really thirsty,
if you could not drink,
that would be great.
We believe we might have a Pinder performance
at some point during the show today.
Can I ask a question on that front?
Yeah.
If he calls in, is he automatically added?
Or can we just, is it like I get a lot of phone calls
on my telephone?
Right.
I don't pick up.
No, what it'll be is on my screen here,
I'm seeing all of this.
plus I have the chat on the one side.
And then underneath in the bottom,
there's a little kind of a thing.
And I see my face and I see a screen with Jack is there.
And then you're there.
And if he comes in,
another window will pop up and he'll be there,
but kind of blurry or whatever.
It'll just be,
but you know he's there.
He only comes in if we allow him.
They call it the green room.
You'll be waiting in the green room.
And you can't just barge your way in unless we say,
okay, come on in, bud.
So yeah, he could sit there.
Yeah.
That's what I was wondering.
Yeah.
He could sit there.
That's what would happen on the afterburners,
where he would show up unannounced,
just because he doesn't want to do the show,
but then shows up to be part of the show.
So I would just kind of leave him there and then badmouth him,
and then he'd eventually just leave.
Or I would kick him out altogether.
I'm not sure.
I don't know if it was an oil or loss last night.
He'd have probably been in here by now.
He probably would have jumped right in.
He'd have been so excited.
But it was not an oiler loss last night.
night. It was
kind of a reversal.
What do you do? A, you know,
a spinnerooney from game number
three where one team has a great start,
gets out to a two nothing lead, and then
shits the bed the rest of the way.
That was quite a thing last night.
Quite a thing.
First shot on net, one nothing.
Was it the third shot on net?
Two nothing. Oilers, zero shots.
The rink.
dead quiet
dead quiet
they're like we're fucked
and then the star said
okay
so when we fly home tonight with that
3-1 lead what do you got you want to go and have
some barbecue what are we doing
having some beef ribs what are we doing
can we golf tomorrow can we
because they shut it down
yeah they did they did
all together
what the age
if I'm Pete DeBore
I'm having a hard time not really flying off the handle
but it's the
and it was obviously the reversal
of the game before what I don't understand
and what noodles alluded to
Frank has alluded to
and other prognosticators
have alluded where's the want
where's the where is it yeah
right
like I watched that
the, um,
Harley,
put that shot into the pads and then playing a two on one short-handed and he does nothing.
Yeah.
I did want to ask you about that.
Don't ask because I,
how do you explain it?
He does nothing.
It's like he's never played the fucking position before.
Yeah.
It's embarrassing.
The power play has not been very good.
They give up a short-handed.
The, the penalty kill for the Oilers,
23 of 23, the last eight games.
And they have been good.
They just.
It seems to be very simple.
They just put a lot of pressure on whoever's got the puck.
We're coming at you.
And you're going to have to make a play.
And if you make a play, there's a good chance.
You might catch us out of position because we're being aggressive on the penalty kill.
But we're going to roll the dice and see how that goes.
And it's gone very well for them to the tune of 23 of their last 23.
But yeah, Harley, now, I'm trying to remember who it was on the wall.
He just kind of spins and sends it back to Harley at the blue line.
Harley hits his own guy.
He hits Marchman right in the took us with the puck.
and then it's a two-on-one the other way.
And to your point, he's skating backwards,
but I'm not really going to take the shot
and I'm not taking the pass.
So, but I'm here if you want to, if you need me.
We'll take a look.
I know Jack's got it there.
It was embarrassing.
And that's just one example.
There's no reason to shoot that puck.
There's no rush.
They haven't had a good setup yet.
It's been a shit show trying to get in the Zon,
own and get it set up.
And he absolutely, look at, what is that?
Yeah, he's got two options there.
He can go back.
You can just stop and hang on to the puck and gets everyone.
Okay, let's set up.
Yeah, it's Duchen here on the wall who sends it back to him.
You can put it back to Duchin or you can certainly, although, you know, the sticks there.
Maybe you go back to Duchin or take a step.
You don't have to move the puck immediately.
Yeah.
You can move your feet, take it towards the wall.
buy yourself some time get it set up like you probably don't have the clip jack to go back further
but they that whole power play they were running around they couldn't get set up yeah and they
finally get to a spot where okay we can settle things down here let's let's get the power play
set up and don't be whoa and these are supposed to be your guys that have the confidence with the
pot yeah i know yeah i know right um so and i
I don't know what it is.
If it's credit to,
so there's a real good look at it.
From the,
yeah,
there's,
there's no urgency to,
to get that puck on.
You don't have them outmanned in front of the net.
You're not ripping a one-timer.
You're being fucking lazy.
And look at that.
Yeah,
that is not.
That's Beer League two on one.
You want to win the Stanley Cup?
That's your effort.
I'm not saying you're going to stop them,
but that's your,
look at this.
Look at this.
apologies for the people on the audio portion.
Look at.
Oh, darn.
I can't believe he passed it through the slot.
Harley's Norris nomination lost in the mail.
No, it was.
Hey, Harney, got yanked.
Yeah.
I would have a real,
but the problem is that you're in a Stanley Cup semifinals.
You can't go ranting around the room and getting out of hand.
If you're Pete DeBore.
But my goodness.
but this again
Harley's an example of what
the Oilers proved the game before
oh we're going to get up and we're going to kick her feet up
and we're going to be lazy about it the rest of the day.
Yeah.
What do you mean?
And the thing was because that's in the second period.
They, it felt like they had already kind of packed it in by then
because you go through the sequence of events.
It's one nothing early.
Wyatt Johnson with a great shot.
The two nothing, it's Lendell shot goes off of Darnel Nurse
because of course,
and I'll nurse. Everything's going against him right now.
Then Segan has that backhander in front.
It kind of hits Skinner and he dives over to his,
I guess it's his right, try and fight it off.
Then the Oilers get their first shot on net.
And then the play where, I mean,
nurse interferes with Ryan Suter,
who tumbles into their frigging goaltender.
And then McLeod is there at the doorstep.
That was it.
The Oilers did not look back after 2-1 with six and a half left in the first period.
I don't know if Skinner had to make a challenging save of any kind.
Dadanoff, he stopped.
He'd stopped Dadanov on a kind of a play,
but Daddnav was half-ass tied up and had to shoot it.
It kind of went back towards Skinner.
But regardless, yeah, they weren't challenged.
You got a guy, a goalie on the ropes or too early again.
Where's the killer instinct?
Like, and again, I'm, where was it with, for Edmonton?
Am I misinterpreting this as, because the other side, how can you hang on to leads or want to put Carolina gave up, I mean, the Rangers poured it on them.
Yeah.
You gave up a three goal lead.
No, it's, it's been a story of the season.
It's, I think it's, it's, it's a trait that we're seeing.
Dallas,
game today.
No.
Yeah,
it's,
it's happening all the time.
Yes.
It's happening all the time.
Blown leads and multiple goal leads.
That was a 2-0.
And much like in game three where
Edmonton was roaring in the first and had other opportunities to go up 3-0-4-0-0 and couldn't do it.
Same with Dallas here.
Rupa Hintz has a breakaway,
shoots it and misses the net high and wide.
There was that play by Seaghan and in front where the backhander is stopped.
It could have been 3-4-0, and maybe it's different.
But for a team that,
has the depth and you would think the experience and is well coached and all of that.
And they've been through this before.
They were to a cup final in 2020.
And they've been to, they've done this thing before.
To, to just now give you have to give the Oilers some credit because they were a lot to
handle.
They turned things on.
But it was one of the things I was going to ask you, how much of it was the Oilers really
taking over the game and how much it was just the Oilers taking what was presented to them,
which was the stars just sitting right back.
And it did not feel like there was a lot of,
I think it was a lot of fight from Dallas, which is the latter.
And I don't think it's just a Dallas issue,
because you've seen it in other series and with other teams.
And you saw it with Edmonton two nights ago.
So it's, it seems like it's a league wide thing.
And maybe it's great.
Maybe, you know what I mean?
Like in the 90s, Jersey gets up by two, go to sleep.
Yeah, turn the game off.
It's over.
Monopoly, anyone?
Because this is over.
They're going to Danico this thing right to the final buzzer.
And so I don't like that either.
But I just, and the Harley thing stands out because we've watched it.
We're looking at it.
I don't see any desperation or intuition as to how to win a hockey game at that point.
There's no, the, the, hockey sense or,
willingness to have some desperation to make a play again they might admit to might score but you did
nothing to stop it yeah yeah you did nothing like you did absolutely nothing and so you can so you
excuse the shot why did you make that shot that's well i just okay okay okay but okay what about the two-on-one
situation well exactly well what yeah and you didn't do anything
And the bulk of those goals, now the, the McLeod one was kind of a, I mean, it was kind of a shit fest there in front.
But again, it's Cory Perry, Ryan McLeod, guys that had, McLeod was a healthy scratch the game.
It's been five straight without Cory Perry.
That line shouldn't be giving you fits.
And it was a, it's a dumb play, I guess, sooner.
I had to go back and see, what the fuck is this guy doing?
You've played a thousand games or whatever it is.
Don't fall on your goalie, but he kind of got tangled up with nurse.
Okay.
But then from that point on, the.
the Bouchard goal is off of a rebound that's essentially an odd man rush or turns into because
there's no Bouchard, it's not even him joining the rush. He's got the zone to himself. Everybody has
collapsed to the near side. If you're watching on TV, to that near the near boards,
he's got the whole friggin zone to himself. He's going to bang that in. So that's kind of an odd man
thing. The Yannmark one we showed you. Same thing with the dry sidel. No hope for Ottinger.
there are odd man rushes two on ones wide open nets
Dallas you were you could have been five wins away from the whole thing
and that was how you come through I don't know I'm with you I don't I
it's like old men yelling at the at the clouds here but God forbid and the oilers have
done it maybe play some defense and see what happens compete the oilers have found
if we what if we back check and what if we're not just so focused
focused on offense.
Although I don't even think that was what the stars were doing.
But it's very part for the stars.
If we keep speaking about the stars and we can give credit to Edmonton, sure.
That's maybe that's a sign of a team that's starting to mature.
But the stars have had shitty starts where they don't show up.
And then they've had, they showed up and scored a couple.
And maybe they weren't even that sharp.
You don't know.
Because the first two shot, you know what I mean?
Like, yeah, you scored to, but it was so early on.
that were you going to be good or are they flat?
Because for two and a half periods or just over two periods,
they were pretty flat.
Yeah.
And the game before they were flat and game two in a desperation spot to win,
I actually thought that Edmonton was the better team in Dallas in game two for two periods.
Maybe I'm wrong.
They've, listen, yeah, they have been,
they've been good in this series.
They deserve to be tied at,
worst, I think they deserve to be tied. And, and who knows what the hell happens now.
Now, one of the things that's probably key in here as well, as we talk about Harley and how he
played that puck and just the defensive part of their game, what if they're without Chris Tanev?
Now, he takes what looks to be, it's a shot here early on.
I don't get that one. And it's hard to see where he took it almost, but he hands off the
shot blocker and you can see he's limping. So he's taken one off of the, uh, the, uh, the,
the foot ankle area.
And he's in distress.
And there it is.
That's your,
somebody in,
there's the,
the Halloween costume.
The Tanev walking down the tunnel to the locker room.
You can just have your,
your Tenev jersey,
get some shower curtains and hang some drapes off of it.
And you can just be Tenev continually walking down the tunnel to the locker room.
But he doesn't come back.
He played eight and a half minutes,
I think is what it ended up being.
They,
they,
that's not going to be good.
huge loss and it affects you there because it's early enough in the game then you're
you're you're scrambling with five guys one of them being whoever the hell it is petrovic
or whatever all due respect but um yeah all of a sudden if you're without him it changes
things in a in a big way for dallas big way yeah and it is and again at home in game five
if he's not available when you can match things up a little bit more like well they didn't trade
for him because he wasn't going to be a big piece of it.
Well, and remember too that he and Lendell were the pairing that at home they had out against
the McDavid line and they got scored on three times.
So even there's going to happen against some of the best players in the world.
I'll tell you what.
I mean, there's there's no, there's no telling what's going to happen.
You can't predict it.
There's, it's, so it's good in that sense.
Yes.
It sucks if you're, you know, if you're a fan of one of these teams.
But I got upset again.
I was yelling at the TV.
You had it in the bag.
Yeah.
Come on.
Come on.
It's odd that it's back-to-back games where you really felt like one team was cruising.
Yeah.
After their performance in the first period and for Dallas not so much first period,
but the first, whatever, 12 minutes, this is it.
And look, if they find a way to steer that thing home last night, the series is over.
It's over.
don't come back from 3-1, let alone Edmonton against Dallas,
and that's no disrespect to Adam.
And you just don't do it.
And Skinner letting in too early, good or not, after being, you know,
there's some question marks all of a sudden, Edmund, you, yeah, you have a, you got to win four,
but you, you, you score a few more and you put them to bed and you, nighty night and move on.
They've, they, we did it in our semi-final against San Jose.
We went into San Jose, won the first two games in San Jose.
Oh, we got it.
And we lost three and four at home.
Not good.
Not good.
Now, we, we pulled it out, but.
The stress that it, more games, more chance of injury, more travel, more fatigue, it just,
you don't need to have that.
It all adds up
and not in your favor.
And you know what?
You look at the Tanev thing and it was game four.
So it's not as though you went deep into a series.
But that's just the kind of stuff that happens.
It's round three.
He takes a shot.
I don't know if it happens in round one.
If he's,
there's no injury,
but still just even watching plays,
Hayeskin,
it was going hard.
I think it was back into his own zone.
He kind of got tripped up and fell into the end boards.
And you think, well, that's going to add up.
And that's going to add up.
And that's going to.
add up it just you keep going four five six seven games and and and dallas has had to do that they
were up to nothing and against that what it was yeah they were up two nothing against vegas and then
have to roar back to get oh they were down they were down to nothing yeah and then had to
find a way so I i just it was the rink was so quiet red it was beautiful it was a beautiful
it was a good it was so quiet in there I was this i went this morning to hear the uh the tnc
broadcast they actually didn't say much
after the puck went in
and it was just
you could hear the kind of
flung, flung, flung, flung, flung, flung, flung.
Just the poor organ player
kind of doing a,
nothing, nothing to see here,
everything's fine, don't worry.
Plunk, plunk, plunk, plunk, plunk, plunk,
and you could just hear the buckering.
Just bungholes tightening.
And they walked out.
They're good, though.
Tell you what,
tells you a little something about a team
that just folds it at two to one though.
It's two to we're up two to one.
Oh shit.
Look out.
Here they come.
And then you got to give up a shorthanded goal and and and.
If I was Jake Ottenger, I'd be pissed off at my team.
But you know, and you're right.
But I did when that fourth goal went in.
It was four on 20 or 21 and too many.
Too many.
It's too many.
Is it your fault?
Nope.
Not your fault.
Four on 20, 21, however many shots.
Too many.
Yeah, it took the Oilers eight minutes to get a shot.
And they win this thing five, two.
I'm wondering if some of the goalies are better off being peppered.
I was actually going to ask noodles that yesterday with Bobrowski and Shisterkin, both wicked goaltenders, right?
Bobrovsky is getting less shots on him, I think.
Maybe there's shots, but not as challenging a shot.
You know what I mean?
and if some of these goaltenders,
Ottinger being one where maybe he's better off getting pumped early.
Shasturkin seems that way, doesn't he?
Right?
Like, that is.
The busier he is.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I think it's,
I think it's for sure the case.
Get a feel,
get into it.
But they did Skinner a favor.
You potentially had that guy on the ropes with the first shot going in.
And it was a good shot,
but,
you know,
I mean,
it's make a save.
You're a big guy.
Come out, challenge,
that sort of thing.
and then the second one, I don't know what he was going to do
because it goes off of his hoop, I believe it was.
It doesn't matter though.
You've got into his head and then you.
Sure.
Yeah.
But I just didn't think that eight shots in the third from Dallas,
but did not have the feel of a desperate team.
Never had it.
Kind of my calling card is always,
if a team gets outshot while trailing in the third period,
just pack your shit.
you're done but they did out shoot them eight six but they give up the empty net goal whatever but
they didn't they didn't threaten and again i don't know if that's friggin the oilers give that
that might be the oilers playing well and they apparently it's an evenly match to i guess yeah i guess
round three i guess you deserve to have some moments yeah and that's the thing we're we get
caught up being on being so anti-edmonton that you you failed to give them some credit
it.
Us?
I think we're fairly fair.
Yeah, we don't have a bias.
Try not to.
Try our best not to.
Yeah.
But no, I mean, yeah, you're right.
And people are like, oh, this is too much.
Why are we talking oilers?
Get out of here.
What are we talking about?
It's a hockey show day after playoff game.
What are we going to talk about?
I get, you don't want to hear about the Oilers.
We don't want to really talk to us.
You want to talk Jays?
Do you want to talk Alec Manoa?
We can do that.
But, no, best of three, you have to feel like this thing's going to go
seven now just with how this thing has gone back and forth and back and forth and a game seven in
dallas so it's going to be what friday sunday tuesday all right sure i'll make plans i'll make
plans i don't know who's going to win i don't either there's no way there is absolutely no way
to uh to have to have a feel on it especially after last night you felt like okay maybe the oilers
have a bit of crap their pants blow a lead kind of a thing did not say
see the Dallas stars doing what they did last night.
And it wasn't just the two nothing lead.
They just had very little in the way of pop after after taking that lead.
I think Stuart Skinner, as, as Noodle says, he was in his rock and chair back there.
It was a very easy night against the guy.
There's a bit of fragility there, a bit of fragility and they didn't take advantage.
One power play, they've been keeping, and that's the other thing that hurts you too.
You've been disciplined.
You haven't been giving up a bunch of power plays to the Oilers because that's how they
feast. They've been disciplined. They've been good. Give up a short-handed goal. Goosh.
But we move on. But no Tanaev is a big deal. Big deal. And on a weird one, because it didn't
look like. I still can't really tell from that angle where he's obviously taking it on the foot,
but I can't really see. Is it ankle, heel? What, how did it, um, but you know what they say about
tent of so soft, right?
It's just so soft. He's not going to battle through anything.
It feels like it's got to be the heel.
Yeah, it looks like the heel of his left foot.
You know.
Yeah.
Well, you know.
Ape and Advil to it.
Yeah.
Rub some dirt on it.
Get back out there, sweetheart.
Oh, well.
Would have been a fun game, though, if you were an oiler fan in there.
Because it would have gone from worst ever.
Yes.
I spent all this money.
I can't believe I spend this money.
We got babysitters.
We come out to this game and it's so excited.
We missed the great, you know, we met, thank God, we missed game three where they had the lead and we thought it was awesome.
And then they lost.
Oh, my goodness.
First shot goes in.
It's two nothing.
It's two nothing.
Oh, my God.
How much did we spend on these tickets?
No more beers.
That's it.
No more $20 beers.
We're not spending any more money on this night because this is terrible.
Five two.
Best ever.
best ever god damn that Cory Perry
could have been made made some money
when it was too nothing
could have made some money for sure
you know people it's coming up in the chat
that Corey Perry his the feet are kind of gone
so have Pavelsky
yeah Pavelsky you don't even really see him
yeah he's done but the thing with Perry
he hasn't lost that brain no he's right
he just kind of knows where to go
the I'm going to go to where the pocket
is going to eventually be.
When the puck gets to that point,
I'm probably going to be there.
But it's probably going to,
it's like a good poker player.
The odds of this thing.
Yeah.
I've got it figured out.
Yeah.
He was,
uh,
he was good.
All right.
God.
Wash this out.
You know,
a spender hasn't shown up.
It's going to wait until we're done talking about the oilers.
Yeah,
he doesn't want to be any part of that.
He doesn't want to be part of this.
Either to be,
frankly,
but,
um,
but as you said,
I mean,
if you're looking for peak sadness,
then I guess losing in the final would be that.
Granted their two wins away from getting there.
We're also good at, you know,
getting overly caught up in things,
living in the moment because we do a show every day.
All you can do is react to what's most recently happened.
It's not an old song?
Which was it?
Living in a moment?
Yeah.
That was, yeah.
Anyway.
Firehouse, sweathouse, sweat hogs.
Wendy's frozen pox are awesome when they're in the back of the other guy's net,
but that doesn't mean you'd want to eat one.
That's why Wendy's only ever uses fresh Canadian beef,
and that's never,
the beef that's never seen the inside of a freezer,
goes in all their burgers.
Whether you order a Baconator,
a Dave single,
or even a JBC,
you'll only ever find real fresh beef that's juicy and loaded with fresh toppings.
Download the Wendy's app,
check out the latest deals,
and order a burger that's,
only job is being delicious.
Get the Wendy's app.
We had some Wendy's brought in the other day.
The kid was out doing something.
He said, hey, I kind of feel like some Wendy's.
Do you guys there want some Wendy's?
Yes, yes, everybody wants some Wendy's.
And my middle kid, I believe there was a Baconator that he asked for and got.
But as I looked to see if he was enjoying it, it was just gone.
So I don't know if the dog got it.
Something.
It was consumed some way somehow.
Jesus.
That's not like a little, what do you call them, the slider?
Yeah, no.
It's a big burger.
That's not a one bite or.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Thank you, Chad.
It's life house living by a moment.
That was a big song.
I believe I was spinning tunes still back then, retro.
I was using Napster for that.
Yeah, yeah.
For sure you were.
See, look, we're done talking about the Oilers and the donkey.
shows up who looks to be on a golf cart so oh nice yeah yeah this will be good yeah okay let's uh so
we just finished talking about the oilers so your timing is perfect oh so good best run team in the league
dynasty banners for days let's go you realize they're two wins away from getting from getting
yeah and they're two losses away i mean hey i saw the first period last night and there's a much
more important events going on guys come on cochella valley fire
birds played the Milwaukee Admiral's last night.
And I got to watch Troy Grossnick against Chris Dregor in a goaltending battle.
Okay.
You want to talk some hockey?
Yeah, let's hear it.
I'm hanging now.
You got me, don't leave me here.
2-1.
Daddy had Coachella Valley minus one and a half.
Really could have used that empty another.
Yeah, could have for sure.
So this is the league final, is it?
This is the West Final.
I don't know who's in the East Final.
Yeah.
So this is basically, I think, where, yeah, the round after where the Wranglers got knocked out last year.
So it's a best to seven now.
They've gone from best of five to sevens.
Milwaukee against Coachella Valley.
And what's the series at now?
That was game one.
So we didn't know who they were going to play until a couple days ago.
I think Coachella Valley swept Ontario.
And then Milwaukee was playing somebody and that took a lot longer.
So you could buy tickets before you knew they were playing.
Because I'm going to Millie Walk.
really well they should be there i would think midweek next week because it's yeah i'm going
i'm going tuesday there should be a game Tuesday i bet because see milwaukee yeah uh milwaukee is the
reason oddly i the reason that red is in buffalo and not calgary right now i was uh i feel like
i missed a good red travel day story yesterday yeah you did yeah it's not yeah it's not yeah
it's pretty good it's it's not like uh it's not for st john for two
it's not like when you live in calgary and then go to the airport and go home it's when
you live in buffalo across the border drive to hamilton go through security get to the gate
then turn around and go back home right i got to because i got to go to milwaukee
because i got to go to milwaukee on monday yeah and this is wednesday and i'm in hamilton
while living in buffalo so anyway yeah so what's happening it uh is
Is this just how we commute or are we golfing?
Because you're on a golf cart.
We're going to the driving range.
The young men, they're antsy.
It took about 48 remand.
Oh, good.
Exactly.
Yeah.
Wi-Fi doesn't work when you, oddly, when you leave friggin yard.
That's all we need, right?
That's enough.
Is that enough?
That is more than enough.
He doesn't want to talk Oilers.
He already said it.
They're two losses away as well.
as two wins away.
It's, you know what?
That is Pinder to a T.
Yes.
You know, Ryan,
they're two wins away from the cup.
Yes,
but they're two losses away from being out.
He is caught.
Again,
he's this.
Sorry.
He's that.
Jack.
Just cut this guy loose.
Well,
sorry.
I mean,
just leaving the house.
I'm not satisfied.
I'm not excited or not.
I'm good.
The head of the fella.
Okay.
Well, tell us about,
tell us about game.
four last night. How did you take it in and your
thoughts? Really like the start.
Great start for Dallas.
He didn't watch it. He was watching Coachella.
No, I watched the
first and then we left. We left that
but you can tell
once you're like, oh boy, this has got
game three.
Boom loves to watch
comedies or awkwardness
and he will do it and then I have to
jump in, Jack. You're going to have to
recognize that about boom he would have he would ride this till midnight tonight he would
bribe and i'm not joking peter simpson when he goes in his awkward hours of it yeah i do like
cringe yeah you love cring yeah yeah i'd be happy just oh come on bring him back bring it there he is
yeah no jack get him out of there all right don't allow it
I laugh because you kind of,
you kind of nailed it on the head there.
I'd be very happy just to soak and swim in the awkwardness.
Yeah, go on, Pinder.
You're doing great.
Tell me again, Ryan.
So tell me more about your day.
Anyway, well, why don't we,
I guess we could do the Pinder report.
Yes, we had a quick insert.
Yeah, very quick,
a little dip in there from Ryan.
The Pinder report is a presentation of Village Honda,
the CRV, it's built for Calgary.
Unpredictable weather, no problem.
No matter the conditions, the CRV,
atop the pack of the compact SUV field.
You'll feel confident behind the wheel of your CRV,
as Honda has included a plethora of driver safety features that come standard.
Village Honda, your dealership per life in the Northwest Autumn Mall.
There is.
Really good connection, I'm guessing.
No, Rhett,
Rhett's giving it to me because I'd be happy just to swim.
I said,
So can swim in the awkwardness.
Just kind of let your signal go in and out.
Gring, go, go and just kind of take it in for hours.
It brings me great pleasure.
We had to drive to the range.
Yeah, I know.
What that was about.
How long before you're sweating right now in Palm Springs?
I just got out of the cart.
So it's been about 30 seconds.
I bet you in another 45 seconds.
Is that right?
But it's a drawing.
We're going to hit 40 today.
It's dry, but it's still 40.
Yeah.
Gotcha.
Well, it's raining here again.
Is that right?
Yeah.
Doesn't look too bad there.
It's not too bad there.
It's empty here.
No one's hanging out here.
It's too hot.
Too hot.
Everybody's left.
All the blue hairs are back home.
Oh.
Contact.
We choke up.
Contact.
Better night.
Yeah.
Wow.
Take,
that.
So what?
What's it?
Yeah, I'm hot.
Geez.
I'm sweating now.
You've got the kids.
What's everyone else doing?
What's happening?
Well, it's just us now.
We've scared off all the guests.
Nice.
And we're going to go.
There's this,
it's called a Palm Springs surf club later today.
It's like a manufactured surf wave.
Oh.
Cabanas and restaurants and cocktails and a lazy river and a wave pool.
So we're waiting for that place to open because it's an hour earlier here.
So this is a great.
exercise installing for like half an hour.
Oh, nice.
So we'll get in the car and hopefully Mama drives home because I've had too many margaritas.
That'd be the move.
Are the, uh, Uber.
Are the boys too hot?
Because they're, they're out there swinging clubs.
You're just kind of, they look at a light.
He doesn't need his jacket, so that's good.
So if you got, you got a left and a righty there.
A lefty and a righty?
Yeah.
Oh, good.
Two sets of gear.
That's right.
I'm going to play baseball swing on that.
Same with hockey, right?
You've got a player and a goalie.
You've got to complete the different sets of gear.
It's perfect.
You like this boom.
So my goalie's a left shot,
but he catches with his right hand.
So when he goes to net,
he has to use a right shot goalie stick.
That'll bend your brain.
Yeah, that's pretty good.
Yeah, it's pretty good.
See what he does.
Yeah.
All right, it's the Pinder report.
Oilers last night,
they gave up two quick ones.
I don't know if you noticed, but they,
they did come back.
58 seconds in, 1-0-0-0-Dalice.
Next, what, third shot on net, 2-0-0, Dallas.
Dennis Rupa hints on a breakaway,
misses high and wide,
Seaghan, and backhander fought off by Skinner.
Takes eight minutes for the first Oilers shot.
Oilers go on to win by a score of 5 to 2.
Gush.
Not good, not good.
And one team looked,
definitely better than the other.
For whatever reason, the stars just were not interested in battling much the rest of the way.
Well, you didn't watch all of it.
But like, did it come across that way to you, Pinder?
Where it was like, is Dallas packing it in?
Like, is this?
It just felt like the Moe at the end of the first period was all Dallas.
Like, it's trouble.
When you're down 2-0 and you get that all square, you may as well be up two or three, it feels like.
Because we saw it with Dallas the prior game, right?
The game before.
Yeah, they tie it up with about six and a half left, that McLeod goal.
And it just felt like the Oilers didn't look back.
The game became a pretty easy game from that point on.
They get a short-handed goal.
Odd man rushes.
It was not physical.
The Oilers were far more physical.
Again, whatever stock you put into hits, 21, like 43-21 for the Oilers.
They were more physical.
Jeez.
No good.
And the coach.
On Cana, right?
Tanev leaves with what looks to be a foot injury,
played 837, didn't come back.
That could be a a pivotal swing in the advantage for the,
for the Edmonton Oilers.
Yeah, it's not great, not great.
But your buddy Chuck Knoblock is getting a lot of credit and a lot of praise.
His swing from Skinner to Pickard back to Skinner.
He got kudos last round.
and now the Broberg in, De Harnay out,
McLeod out, McLeod back in.
He scores.
Corey Perry comes in after five.
He gets a helper.
He's getting a lot of credit for,
whatever, pulling the right strings,
playing the right notes.
He seems to have done good stuff.
I mean, the last series when he,
it's worked out.
So, yeah, I don't,
it's hard to do this, Dean.
Can we move on from praising the orler?
I know.
No, Box Challenge.
The big challenge is you got to stay away from game seven against Pete DeBoer.
He's undefeated, right?
That's true, yeah.
Knoblox's going to win this in six or he's dead.
Yeah.
Broberg came in, old Philip Broberg, 1421, even on the night.
Just kept his nose clean.
Like you said, just don't, just don't want to notice you.
Didn't really notice him.
Don't mess up.
Pindler, go hit some golf balls.
You don't need to stand here unless.
I'm sweating.
Yeah.
Goodbye.
Thanks.
All right.
See, fellas.
it's not much use after the oiler stuff i guess i do love much going to be of any use today at all
anyway so yeah it's not a great day so oh yeah oilers uh even the series of two games apiece
they'll go back to dallas for game five we know there will be a game six and that'll be coming
up uh on the weekend because you're gonna go up there saturday not a goddamn chance not a chance
uh so so what do you think of the new rink never been in it don't plan to go
at it.
I don't leave the house here.
For me to go all the way to Edmonton and then go to an oiler game,
who we're talking,
like it's point zero zero zero zero.
We're really,
man,
I don't know what the bet.
Are you buying the 50-50s?
I haven't been,
which I,
you know,
I'm not against that because I think the money goes to a good cause.
I'm sure that the,
that's the one does.
You know what?
The Oilers Foundation do a lot of good stuff.
The good cause would be your pocket.
I didn't even think of the winning aspect of it.
It would just be, where's the money going, a good cause?
Okay.
No, no, because the shoveler was asking me last night on the couch.
She's like, why am I getting emails from the oilers,
commie, whatever they call it?
I'm like, well, you bought me 50, 50 tickets at some point.
And that's my, they got your email.
Buy some for us.
We'll split it.
Okay.
I'll do that.
Jack,
in.
Jack,
you want some fitty fitties?
Oh,
yeah,
man.
Didn't it get to like three million yesterday or something?
Which seems low because in the past it's been seven.
No one loves a fitty,
fitty like Edmonton.
Remember you go to the,
I almost said the Elks games.
Those would always be big.
The oilers 50,
I don't know what it is exactly.
But Edmonton loves a 50-50.
Do it.
And sweatpants.
They love their 50-50s.
And high tops.
And they're sweats and high tops.
That's right.
Meanwhile,
tonight,
massive game at MSG.
Where's that?
That's New York.
Broadway.
I'm on Broadway.
Hey,
hey,
hey,
hey.
I miss New York.
I haven't been in years and years.
It's such a,
you know,
it's such a great spot.
Leave your kids at home.
Take your chick.
Take your significant other.
It's not really a kids thing,
is it?
It's not a kid's.
Considering taking the kids and going,
I'm like,
why are we spend?
10 grand to take our kids to New York City?
They've never asked to go.
Yeah.
Take them to Disney or some, you know,
Knotsberry fire.
I don't even know what's something like some sort of a water park.
They don't want to go to New York.
You want to go with your significant other.
Let's go have,
hey, let's grab a morning paper.
Let's grab a New York Times and sit on a little outdoor,
little patio with a little cafe,
cup of coffee, read the morning paper,
take in some nice sunshine,
listen to all that is New York,
all that just the the the the new york sounds go and have yourself a nice maybe some nice bowl of soup
or a nice sandwich oh deli go and uh you know what rent a rent some bikes go bike around central
park maybe go walk the bridge go go down to uh you can do a boat ride yeah yeah it's awesome
that have you got shows at night great meals all games ball games
damn and you're right there when i when i
kick my kids out of the house in three years?
Yeah.
15, right?
No, 60.
So, four years.
Is that when you get out?
Then I'm behind.
Yes.
Get them out.
Yeah, I got two years.
The longer they stay, the harder it is.
I'm going to spend a one month per year in New York City.
I'm going to go to all games.
I'm going to do exactly what you said.
Are you going to get a place?
Like a, get a brownstone, drop four or five million on a little place in Manhattan?
Yeah, taxes aren't.
They're light.
Taxes are light.
Yeah, it's an affordable place where people really choose to retire
because your money goes further there.
Yeah, it really works.
But it's going to be the Panthers and Rangers tonight.
And this one's kind of gone back and forth.
You know, oh, look at the Rangers.
They're so resilient, get to overtime.
But the Panthers have been very good.
Panthers have been very good.
And probably deserve to be up in this series, but they're not.
But they might be.
They're not.
So guess what, Dean?
What's that?
In the words of a wise Ryan Pinder,
They're two wins or two losses.
Yeah, that's right.
Yeah.
Two wins away from a cup final.
Two losses away from being eliminated altogether.
One of those peak sadness types of scenarios.
It is.
Yeah, it is.
I'm not sure.
Is there anything else?
Is there anything noteworthy?
I haven't seen a lot this morning.
We know that Chris Kreider grabbed the mouthguard of Matthew Kachuk the other game
and he threw it over his shoulder.
and if it would have gone into the stands,
could have been a suspension
because you can't do that.
You can't throw stuff into the over the thing.
Can't do it.
So we'll see how that goes today.
What time are we playing that one, Jack?
We're going to go like 5 o'clock or 6 o'clock for that one, I mean?
Probably 6A.
I would think it's 8.
80s, 6, 6,000, 6,000, man.
I could still get there.
You sure could still get there.
And there again, tickets would be real,
affordable, I would guess, around three.
Thousand bucks.
I've looked. Wow.
Okay.
So that one's coming up.
Great analysis by us on that
one coming up.
Mike Yo was on the show yesterday.
We mentioned Mike Yo, he and the Vancouver Canucks
had, I guess, mutually
agreed to part ways.
I don't like it here. You don't like.
Yeah, I hate you. You hate me. Let's just
move on. Mountains. I'm out.
Now, according to a report and
reports are usually correct. He is a candidate to join the Ottawa Senators coaching staff.
Sends head coach Travis Green and Stephen Steyos, the team's GM, conducted an interview with
you. He's 50 years old. He's had head coaching experience with the Minnesota Wilde and St. Louis
Blues. He was an interim bench boss with the Philadelphia Flyers. He's been with the Pittsburgh Penguins
as well. We talked about this. He's been a lot of places. Well, that's the issue I'm having is that is that is that
Does that give you comfort knowing that he's being in so many places?
Or does that raise flags?
Yeah.
I think he might be a very good assistant coach.
He just gets fired.
Yeah, he gets fired a lot as a head coach.
He doesn't last very long and there's very little in the way of success,
but he keeps popping up as an assistant.
He must be somewhat of a nice guy.
Guy, you know, people must, he must be a decent fella, is what I'm thinking.
But if it's Travis Green and Mike Yo, those are two, like, to your point,
it doesn't feel like there's a ton of confidence in either guy.
Maybe if you add them both together, does that equal a lot of confidence?
What did Pinders say that the owner kept saying that they were going to be a,
I've got the wrong word, but like a premier organization.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
They, uh, they're not bringing in premier people.
It feels like they're kind of the second run of people.
Hey, listen, good luck.
Mike, yo.
Yes.
I don't know.
I don't know you really.
I don't know you at all, actually.
I've seen you at the draft and stuff like that.
He's a sharp dressed guy.
That matters.
I dress like shit and I can't get a job.
Yeah, yeah.
He's got, he's bald.
It's a very shiny bald.
Oh, it's buffed up?
Yeah.
We got one of those, you know, one of those things, I guess,
like kind of shiny.
that would be the thing
I think
Cam Moon's got a shiny one too
if you're
if you're going to be bald
do you want it to kind of be dull
and and
have some some kind of
whiskery
are they whiskers when they're on your head
I don't think so
stubble
stubble
do you want some stubble
or do you want to take her right down
and then and then buffer up
get some turtle wax up there
the problem with the turtle wax
and being taught is you've got to stay
on top of that you do yeah
Yeah, but I think now, can you use, if you get it down to that point, can you do use an electric?
What do you know what I mean?
I don't know.
I think you have to.
I think and you know, I think it's the same thing for, even for people, guys that have hair that have hair, whatever.
To look your best, it does take a bit of work.
Haircuts, product, manicuring, fitness, skin care, lotions, moisturizers.
that sort of thing, things to keep your wrinkles and the bags, the crows feet, all that.
I think there is some effort that's needed to maintain a presentable appearance.
Rumor has it.
So we need to cut out the cameras.
Basically, yeah, because there's no chance for putting that kind of work in.
God, have you seen how much friggin lotion costs?
I saw an ad for lotion on the game last night, some sort of new concoction that's going to keep you healthy,
which I'm all about, but when they mentioned,
it was going to help my skin.
You can keep it.
Well, I know you,
my skin can take care of it.
Yeah.
And I know you go through a lot of lotion,
but it's,
the Utah is getting a hockey team.
I think you heard that, right?
Yeah.
The Phoenix coyotes then became the Arizona
coyotes and then they got the heave hoe.
Now they are going to Salt Lake,
say, they're going to be Utah,
not Salt Lake, Utah.
It's going to be Utah thing.
and we're told that the team is going to wear jerseys that say Utah for its inaugural season
and we'll have a team name for the following year because there's not enough time to get a team name,
I guess.
Now, Ryan Smith is a billionaire.
I'm not going to tell him how to do anything.
If anything, he can teach me a thing or two.
I bet you he moisturizes.
He might.
I bet you he's big on that.
Well, he went on the Pat McAfee show yesterday on ESPN.
McAfee had the Stanley Cup in studio and he's gotten to know Smith.
I think they had him on the show.
And Smith seems to be a very popular guy.
Guys like this guy.
He's young.
He's energetic.
He's obviously very smart.
He's made himself a billionaire.
And so Maccalfe, just kind of called him up.
He said, hey, guess what I got here?
I got the Stanley Cup here.
This is what you're going to be playing for.
This is now your goal.
You've had many goals in life as you've become very successful.
This now becomes it.
And he said, I can't wait.
We're going to drink Mountain Dew and all kinds of shit out of that thing.
It's going to be great.
And then McAfee pressed him.
What are we doing with us?
our names. Where are we going here? What the hell's going on? And he said, this was a quote from Smith.
We've got our four, because remember, I think there was like 20 or something or 15. There's a whole
slew of them. I think mammoth is up there. Yeti is up there. I think a couple of other ones are
up there. It should be good. 20 options. End quote. The survey included 20 options fans were asked
to choose up to four. I think when we did, we looked at them. I think those two were very much in our
Yes, they were.
Yep.
Mammoth, Yeti.
Utah Yeti, either, I think it either sounds good or it's too much.
I'm not sure yet.
The Utah Yeti or just Utah yet, Utah mammoth, both are fine.
I think they're good.
Did it say?
Which, uh, there was, did you, do they?
He only, uh, because he was just on his phone call, he only spit out those two.
Yeah.
So, uh, just pick one and be ready then, if that's the thing.
It's me.
Yeah, May, June, July, August, there's going to be training camp in September.
You got time.
I don't know what.
Yeah.
Can you not get a maid?
Is that what it is?
No, I think you.
I think maybe what it is.
If you're going to sell 20,000 jerseys or 100,000 called.
Yeah.
Right?
Like the Kraken was a big hit with kids.
I think they sold out.
Yeah.
I kind of wonder if we're the guys to be giving a guy like that advice.
It's been very successful in business and everything.
I wonder if maybe he knows what he's doing.
Maybe.
Maybe.
Although at the same time, if he picks Mammoth or Yeti in a year's time,
it's like, well, you could have just done that back in 2024, say like April, May,
because we told you then.
And then he'll be like, I'm the billionaire, but you guys are the brains.
I wish I was as smart as you guys.
Maybe we could be trillionaires.
Too smart over analyzing two dummies like you and I.
True.
It's A or B.
Yeah.
Let's go.
Yeah.
for sure.
All right.
The Memorial Cup continues in Saginaw, Michigan, Easton, Cowan.
He's a Toronto Maple Leaf draft pick.
Had a big day yesterday.
Scored the go-ahead goal late in the third,
added an empty netter.
The London Knights booked their tickets
straight to the final beating Saginaw 4 to 2.
All the way through.
Not really a huge surprise.
A very good team.
They were the OHL champions.
That's how they got there.
Yeah, they won.
Yeah, they won the league that they play in.
So pretty good team.
the Spirit meanwhile, they were the host team.
I don't think that they didn't win shit, did they?
They just, you get there as the host team.
I don't even know how they fared in the, in the playoffs.
I don't remember either.
Yeah.
Anyway.
But they didn't win.
So the Spirit, the host team going to take on the W.HL champion Moose Jaw Warriors on
Friday in the semi-final.
The Warriors beat Drummondville yesterday, or two days ago, 5-3 to eliminate the Voltageurs.
What is a Voltageur?
Jack, what's a Voltageur?
just, we'll kind of just stall.
Electrician.
I was going to say, is it like booster cables or voltage,
voltage is, you're like a, like a Wichita lineman.
Are you up there with the lines and you're climbing the poles and you're,
you ever thought of doing that?
No.
Working for the electrical company.
That was a big thing when I was younger.
You wanted to work for hydro, work for the, you know, the,
SaaS power or whatever it was.
Oh, government jobs?
Yeah.
So you'd work for those.
Oh, government jobs are good.
Yeah, you'd get paid really well.
Rent bet you would work terribly hard and retirement comes early.
Safety.
Let's pause here.
I don't feel safe.
A bit of a breeze today.
I don't think I can go up there.
Sun's a little too hot today.
It rained yesterday.
The thing might be slippy.
Let's try again tomorrow.
Don't be a dick to the government workers.
I'm not being a dick.
I'm not.
Truly, that was like,
Like that's, oh, that was, that was what you wanted to do.
Stu worked for highways, worked this way all the way up.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Maybe there's still time for us, Retro.
I'll tell you what we'd be good at.
I don't like the idea of the heat or the cold, but standing there with a sign and doing nothing.
Well, and think of it by now, you'd be high enough.
You wouldn't have to do any of that.
You would just, you'd be driving in your vehicle, your, your truck.
And you'd go from site to site and just kind of, say, boys, how we're done.
fucking oilers, eh?
Shit. Yeah. Well,
how we doing? We're supposed to have this job. This is supposed to be done by what?
The 22nd. What's the date today?
29th. Well, I guess pick her up, eh?
But be safe.
All right. I'm going to go, uh, check the other fellow.
See the other boys.
Hardly working or working hard, boys. What are we doing here today?
Hey, boy.
I got some Timbits in the truck. Come on over.
I'd be frigging great at it.
Guys would love me.
That would be so good.
I'll have to leave the house probably, though.
But you get your own company vehicle, right?
Work truck.
Yeah.
Yeah, work truck.
Good.
Yeah.
Is it dangerous, though?
No, not if you're just driving around to the truck checking on things.
The one might, my old man really tried to push me towards, but of course I had my life
figured out.
Look at you.
Look at me.
Yeah.
I'm on gravy train with biscuit wheels.
he's a you should work for not forestry um fish and game kind of thing what do you call that a uh game
ordnish kind of yeah yeah yeah yeah that sort of department of natural resource that's correct buddy yeah
yeah that's correct because i like fishing as a kid we'd go fishing all the time and that sort of thing
you should get into a fish and game wildlife be a conservation officer that's what you should be
get your own because there you had i think they were like the brown trucks they were a little bit
different green or brown and have the decals on there.
So you get where you're brown, your brown shit.
Look at all.
Hey, look at me.
Who, hey.
Kind of thing.
But now I had to go to brand and make about 22 grand a year spinning deaf
leopard.
And Ricky Van Shelton showed him.
What do we got on the Voltager front there, Jack?
How are we doing?
The Voltageurs, French military.
skirmish units created in 1804 by Emperor Napoleon the first.
They replaced the,
they replaced the second company of few sliers in each of the existing infantry battalion.
So they're fighters.
They're fighters.
They're proud.
They're not going to be pushed around,
Dean.
No, only by the warriors.
It's weird that they're up against warriors.
They're not going to be pushed around either.
Like, can we just get along, you know?
Flip going.
Just, yeah, you don't see a lot of that, eh?
It's, uh, the moose jawed cutlers.
They're in town to take on the, uh, drummond bowl softies.
Yeah.
The spooners taking on the cutlers tonight.
Game time, seven 30.
Okay, so that's that.
Yeah, so the, uh, warriors and the spirit in the semi, the movie, the winter will move on
and play the, uh, London nights.
The loser will just get on a, on a plane.
go home and feel shame
shame yeah
mind you there's shame and it's not like
well at least we got a silver medal it's not the
Olympics you losing the memorial cup final
there's no pride in that
well then you get
that well at least you were there
yeah you got the experience
yeah it's a shitty experience
kind of the same as a Stanley
Cup final I guess because if you win
you get the cup it's not like there's some sort of a
a trophy or prize for second
sure is it
Dean. You don't line up on the blue line. I'll tell you that.
Yeah, I hadn't thought about it until.
Calgary, Serge, dropped their second
straight to start the C.EBL season yesterday.
The Scarborough shooting stars they were o' and two coming in.
They win by a score of 104-97.
Jackson Row.
Jackson Row.
Led the way for Calgary with 17 points.
Serge, they're in, they take on the Vancouver.
Bandits on the road on Saturday. They're home next Wednesday
against the Saskatchewan.
Walleye.
That's right.
The Saskatchewan walleye are in town to take on the surge.
Next, that's the rattlers.
Are there a lot of rattlers in Saskatchewan?
Pinder would love it.
I don't know that there are.
I'm sure there's some down south, but.
Although maybe in Saskatchew is something different.
It's like when you've got 11 bottles empties in the 12 pack.
Yes.
They're rattling around in the box of the truck.
That's the rattling that we're doing in Saskatchewan.
The RBC Canadian Open, opening round underway for some of these guys.
They're already off the course.
Already done out there.
Nice day.
I'll tell you, it'll be a nice day to be playing.
Yeah.
Just looking here, uh, shot O'Hare and Sam Burns, Mr. Burns.
Off the course, they're both in with seven under 63s to lead the way.
Rory McElroy, he's finished up his opening round with a four under, uh, 4166 is where he's at.
Top Canadian Mike Weir, he ends the day at 2 under, 68, Taylor Pendrith, a one under, Will Bateman.
He is on the course right now, he's on 15.
Jason, boy. Is that Jason Bateman? Yeah, yeah, it's interesting.
Adam Hadwin, he is just starting, just starting. He is one under through one.
So that's a nice start. He's on pace for a heck of a round, rat, a heck of a round if he can keep up, just birdie the rest of the holes.
and you'll be in...
Ola Dallas.
Yeah, just do it.
Speaking to golf.
Good news for old Scotty Schaeffler.
The charges against Scotty Schaeffler have been dismissed.
My goodness, he's not going to jail.
You know what it was?
It says here it was a legal saga.
A legal saga that began with images of the world's top golf are being arrested and
handcuffed in Louisville during the PGA championship.
The Jefferson County Attorney Mike O'Connell asked a judge to drop the charges.
Sheffler didn't have to be there.
The prosecutor said his team reviewed the case in a thorough and expeditious, expeditious manner.
Sheffler was charged with a felony.
You know what that's all about.
Been there, done that, hey, retro?
Felonies.
Assaulting a police officer with his vehicle and three misdemeanors.
As it turns out, having video evidence, having everything on video clears a lot of things up.
He did this and he dragged me and there was all this going on.
Uh, actually, uh, we have some video here.
You, you, you, you, you, you were maybe, if anything, a little, as they say, overzealous, perhaps.
Oh.
And you weren't wearing your body cam thing that you're supposed to.
So actually you're in trouble and he's free to go.
Shit.
Jalen Waddle, Miami Dolphins receiver has signed a new deal.
It's a three year, um, three year, 84.75.
million.
76 million guaranteed.
It's a nice.
Don't pull in Antonio.
She's.
He's from Houston.
He was taking sixth overall.
14 games last year.
72 catches 100 or sorry,
just over 1,000 yards,
four touchdowns.
Four touchdowns.
Here's 76 million.
In Miami?
With the dolphins, yeah.
Don't they have that hill guy?
Yeah, they do.
Yeah.
He's also very good.
Makes a lot of money too.
Yeah, he makes a lot of money too.
of money.
Shoot, we had Pinderon could have brought up.
We mentioned Alec Manoa.
MRI coming up today.
He left the win against the white socks because of right elbow discomfort.
Two out runner on third.
Manoa checked on by John Schneider.
The manager came out there and did the old dime.
How's your arm?
Because he looked like shit.
It's a little sore.
You got some tightness?
Yeah, I guess.
I guess so.
Bring in the lefty.
He go.
He gone.
He is one and two of the 3.70 R a in five starts this year.
Tag for six runs,
four earned in a loss on Friday.
It's not much like many other things with the Toronto Blue Jays.
Manoa's career has not gone as hoped or as planned.
He looked to be a very, like a stud.
Wasn't he an all-star?
Oh, sure.
Two or three potential all-stars out there.
And now it's my elbow sore,
so I'm out.
Can we trade these guys?
If we do trade them,
can we get anything back?
Trade me, right?
How are we going to afford all these superstars?
Yeah, I don't know.
I don't know.
Like serious.
Well, we got the,
we got that Pinder, boomer,
Warner money off the books in Calgary.
So we're in good shape.
Lots of the bank.
Lots of dough there.
That's going to do it for the Pender report.
Brought to you by Village,
Honda,
used vehicles.
You're looking for maybe just a nice,
reliable, pre-owned vehicle.
And this is the place
to do it. 90 units on site. They've got access to more than 500 more. We keep telling you this.
I mean, we keep telling you, but it only works if you go and take advantage. Go in, look at the
used cars that they have on the lot, talk to some of the sales staff. I'm not really looking. I'm
looking more like this. Well, why don't you come in and let's go look at the database. Database,
database. I think that's probably what it is. That's what they'd say, right? Have a coffee. We'll
look at the database and see what we've got within the Wood Automotive Group. Our dealership group,
We've got 500 more vehicles that you can look at right here,
even though they're not on our lot.
Saves you from driving around and wasting gas money and safety first,
really, you know, safety first.
And if it's raining, you've got to run the wipers.
Don't want to do it.
Don't want to do it.
Village Honda, they're worth the trip located in the Northwest Auto Mall.
There you go.
Have you, uh, I think I don't know the answer.
Have you golfed yet this year?
The answer is no.
Okay.
So then my.
follow-up was going to be, have you, have you been tempted?
Is there anything enticing you to maybe go out and get around to golf in?
Spoke with Rob Ray yesterday, actually, by happenstance.
Yeah.
Brought up the, because the boys have been golfing, the kids,
mentioned what, asked what his thoughts on golf were, and they kind of mirror my own,
no good at it, not tempted.
Yeah.
what would be a if you were to get together and do something with rob ray like like guys why don't we hey what are you doing on saturday we should go for a round of golf okay if you were going to call rob ray and say hey why don't we do blank on saturday what would get you a yes what would be the activity he doesn't drink so drink you're not going for drinks isn't uh fishing maybe except then he'd be like well do i have because he's the one with the boat he's
That's right.
He uses twice a year.
Yeah.
So he might frown on that.
Grill and a steak.
He'd go for a steak.
I dropped up some steaks the other day because my kids are always in his pool.
Yeah.
I think he likes that.
You want to cut the grass?
We could go to, he's got a place in Ellicottville, Elegitville, beautiful.
Okay.
He likes driving.
It's drive to Ellicottville and Tinker.
What is the name of this town?
I feel like you've kind of punted around there two or three.
Ellicottville.
Ellicottville.
Okay.
Yeah, got to see where that is.
So is this like a lake?
Does he have a, is it a, uh, no, it's the, it's the ski resort, which it would be similar
to a ski resort, the, in the part of the world that we're from.
Gotcha.
Hill, not mount.
Right.
Yeah.
Okay.
And no snow.
Because I feel like he'd be a fun guy.
There's lots of stories.
It's not just about, hey, hey, tell us about when you fought prober.
Not about that.
He's just, uh, he feels like he'd be a, a, a, a,
fun guy to hang around with.
I've hung out with him.
Clearly,
but he drives around to all the properties he owns and he helps out the people and he
bullshuts with those people and then he goes to the next place and does it again.
He's,
you know what he's like?
He's your dream job.
The,
the safety guy driving around to all the,
that's his thing.
Yeah.
He gets up.
He's got to,
he cuts the grass.
He drives around visits for a while.
All right.
Yeah.
See it.
On to the next.
Had a big meeting.
They're going over to,
they're going over to Europe for exhibition
and a couple of regular season games.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
Leave big discussion on whether the media need to attend,
you know, travel with or call the games from back home.
I know what he's hoping for.
Because where are they going,
do you know exactly where they're going?
Germany, check.
Yeah.
Because I feel like that might almost be an enjoyable trip,
depending.
I think for those guys in that line of work,
and especially for guys that have played the game
and traveled that much already,
getting on the plane is not.
And then when you get to,
it's worse than if you're playing,
because when you're playing,
you've got 20 guys that you're hanging out with in the room
and you're going out and practicing and playing.
Those guys kill time.
Yeah.
In a hotel room.
Yeah, I guess.
And days, days.
days and days.
And you still have commitments
so it's not like you can just take a day
and go and see,
not just off and they do and do things,
but I think it gets,
once you've seen the Washington monuments.
Yeah.
Oh, we're in San Jose.
Sounds great.
What are we doing?
What are we doing?
Well, we could drive to San Fran
and go to Alcatraz,
but I've done that four years in row.
Yeah.
I guess I'll go and ride the bike
for half a few.
an hour. And you know what? If you were a golfer, I think that would be a good thing.
Because there would be certain places, obviously Arizona's gone now. But yeah, going to Scots.
Oh, nice. Let's golf. California. We get a round of golf. Yeah. Doesn't do it. It's a curious thing.
You know, I mean, fall disclosure, for whatever it's worth. Yesterday, it was announced that here in Calgary, Sportsnet 960, they're keeping the radio rights.
the TV rights,
they sound like a 10 year extension or something,
which is like a crazy term, it feels like,
to keep the games on sports net for the Flames games.
So that's great for Flames fans.
You got 82 games,
all of them are going to be on TV.
I don't know people bitch and moan about different things
and start times and blackouts and stuff,
but for the most part,
with Rick Ball, Kelly, Rudy, 82 games,
you're in pretty good shape for if you're a Flames fan.
And I think the radio deal was up.
but it has been renewed.
I didn't see anything in the way of terms,
but it just kind of makes sense that they,
if we're with Rogers for TV,
we're going to keep the radio thing.
But they have been not traveling.
I don't even know,
I mean,
it was since before COVID,
like COVID.
So they do the home games from the dome
and then do the road games from the radio station downtown.
I can't,
like Rob Ray.
Rob Ray would like to not travel for a lot of the broadcast.
I know for people like Derek Wills, I know Lombardius when he was there, that was part of the charm.
That was part of the perk because you get to go and see these cities and be in the visiting
rinks.
And from a work from a professional standpoint, it's easier to do the job when you're there to
call the game.
When you can see the game and talk about it, it is easier.
But I wonder how many teams, because even in Toronto, the Leafs, like Joe Bowman, they weren't
traveling.
Well, you just because of COVID, they realize you can do things differently and how much money do you save?
Not the police need to save a bunch of money, but.
And I know that there's still, they're still kind of at the point, but I wonder how close we are.
You just simulcast it.
If you're paying Rick Ball and Kelly Rudy to do the game, just use that audio.
Well, and I don't know anything about this, but apparently the big cost is to have the second truck in there.
to give your own feed.
Yeah.
Do you know what I mean?
Because if you're a Buffalo sabers,
well,
typically they're going to follow a saber off the ice.
It's not a Calgary flame,
and you're going to have highlights from say.
And you have your own in-game.
You've sold things.
Here it's time for the power play,
a presentation of whoever you throw that up,
that sort of thing.
So you'd have to tailor it a little bit,
but I guess it just depends how much you're looking to make.
What are you spending on radio rights?
What are you looking to make off of it?
Because if it's, if you're just doing it, then, then I don't know how far we are away from just simulcasting both.
There was also some talk, do they, do they do they do the flames just kind of take it in house and do their own kind of thing?
But they're going to, we're not there yet.
We're just not there yet.
What about the people in Didsbury?
What about the people in, in Okotokes?
Maybe they're out in the tractor, or they're out doing some deliveries or whatever.
I mean, you can.
If you knew what you're doing,
just get it on the phone.
Like with this,
you could just kind of turn it on,
but I guess we're not there yet.
So long story short,
good news for Flames fans.
You're getting your flames wherever you need them.
You're getting your flames wherever you need them.
But, you know, it's one of those things.
On the radio broadcast,
anyway.
Remember, we used to be on the radio?
Uh-huh.
Yeah.
we used to do three, four-hour shows,
like three to four hours a day, every day.
We have been on for an hour and 13 minutes,
and we've, I mean,
it feels like forever.
We've stretched that to the absolute max.
We'd have another two and a half potential the hours to do.
F that.
And we can say F, couldn't say that on the radio.
We didn't say that.
What the age, what the F?
You couldn't have got away with that.
Love, Paul.
Maurice's use of. Yeah, that's right. So much better off right now. So much better off.
What's up for the rest of the day?
Soccer game, big soccer game. There's a sports banquet that somebody said something about,
but I don't understand it. It's through the kids' school. Oh, good food maybe, though?
I don't know. This was a passing conversation. One of the kids is,
trying music, so he's going to one of those school of rock.
Nice.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
That.
Is he, uh, is he, uh, particular to a certain instrument yet?
They want to be, they suggested the piano type of thing to start just because our, my kids are not
musicy.
Musically inclined.
Yeah.
If that's a word.
Yeah.
So anyway.
They're not musicy.
Okay.
Yeah.
But not musicy.
And probably go, uh,
I think one of the kids is going to skate tonight.
That is that right.
They call pods here.
Pod.
Yeah.
Skating pod.
Go down there with a bunch of dummies and just skate around.
Skating.
So it's like shooting and passing it.
Oh, okay.
Yeah.
So what does hockey end when you have a kid who's on that age?
It doesn't seem to.
It doesn't seem to.
We were discussing that.
Like there's another thing in mid July.
And then hockey seems to start in September, right?
September.
But you'll know you'll have to get a campaign in August for sure.
Oh, yeah.
Get your skates back under you for sure.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So it's kind of, hmm.
And so have you made a decision, you and the shoveler as parents of a young
prodigy where the young man is going to be plying his craft this fall?
Is he going to be a junior saber again?
Is he going to be a, is it going to be a, is it going to be?
If we were stuck here, I think he'd be a junior saver.
Or maybe one of those prolific Western powerhouses that Calgary produces.
That's right.
Yeah, there are some powerhouses for sure.
Yeah.
Saha.
Wasn't there a new one in Calgary now?
One of those?
I'm kind of out of that loop.
Well, obviously, they're really in the loop, but I'm not that familiar with it, to be honest.
All I know is Mickey DuPont, apparently is doing good things and has a kid or something.
I don't know if Mickey's doing anything, but his kid is
His kid has really put his old man in the map.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Is what Mickey played in the NHL?
Yeah, whatever.
I mean, but how about, let's talk more about the kid.
Talk more about the kid.
Oh, I was going to see.
You know what I did yesterday?
My one kid that isn't a boy.
It was the track and field.
Oh, big event down by McMahon.
they have the foot heels of athletic part there.
So they were throwing
javelins.
Wow. They were running.
They were high jumping and all kinds of stuff.
We talked about this.
That she was able to take part in something like this.
It's good she has some of her mother's genes.
Because my athletic ability and build at stature,
length,
all of that, not conducive to anything athletic.
Zero.
I'll talk about it, but I can't do it.
So they,
they had to do the relay
where you've got the baton.
Oh yeah.
It also takes a little bit.
You don't want to slow down too much
when you're doing the transfer.
They call it the transfer of the baton.
You got to reach back,
but you don't want to look back
because then you kind of,
it was intense.
The crowd was into it.
And you can feel that roar.
As they come around that,
it's like a horse race.
Come around the fine,
like, oh, yeah, why is who I,
it was a big day over at foothills.
So,
Victoria.
Second in the heat,
fifth overall.
Fifth in the sixth.
They're going to take it.
Apparently, when you finish in the top five, you do get a ribbon.
Not top three, top five.
All the top five get ribbons.
So, dad, we get a ribbon.
They ran out of ribbons, but.
Are they the shitty old ribbons too?
Yeah.
Yeah.
They even said on the, on the PA, if you finished in the top five, you are eligible for a, a ribbon.
if you want the ribbon,
just come to the desk
and so it's not,
you don't get a podium.
There was not a lot of pop and circumstance
or anything,
no flower bouquets or anthems or anything like that.
If you actually want this ribbon,
you can come and get it.
But of course,
we need the ribbon,
but they ran out of ribbons.
Apparently,
whoever finished in fifth,
they wanted those damn ribbons.
So just got to wait for it.
It's got to wait for it.
It's all right.
Tomorrow on the show,
great clips inbox get your questions your thoughts your emotions dreams prayers thoughts into the great clips
in recipes recipes yeah dirty stories all that sort of thing great clips inbox at flames nation
dot ca is the email again that address is great clips inbox at flames nation dot c a or you know be around
and you can do the uh the chat like mark today i really like your show i watch it a lot one big
concern I have is the omission of anything Calgary, Stanpeters,
Malik Henry just had a season ending injury before the season is started.
Thanks for the,
thanks for getting in Mark.
We talked about it yesterday.
We did say that Malik Henry was done.
And it's kind of a hockey show.
It's, uh,
we don't,
I know,
no,
I think the key to that statement is that the season hasn't even started.
So yeah,
you're going to have a Stanley Cup playoffs.
CFL preseason.
Yeah.
I mean,
if anything,
I feel like we already talk too much sports.
Yep.
I think it's way too
sporty.
It's way too much like
our radio,
like a radio show.
It's too much like a broadcast.
It should just be us,
you know,
talk about Rob Ray.
I still think you should start cooking again.
I don't know.
I know.
It's raining,
though.
It's not like you.
It's maybe turned around
a little bit out there,
but she'll be damp now.
Yeah,
she'll be a little wet.
Jack,
go cut my grass,
would you?
Who is taking care of your,
uh,
I don't know.
of your stuff.
There was Jack.
Come on back in, Jack.
I'm right here.
Got some butter.
Got some butter on your lens there, I see.
There we go.
There we go.
You look like you spry today.
Am I looking good today?
You're looking real good.
Have you?
Maybe it's the light.
Have you leaned out?
Yeah, I have.
You look very good, buddy.
Thank you.
Fitness guy?
No.
What are you doing?
Are you cut your carbs?
I've done.
some weights.
Yeah.
Yeah.
What are we doing?
Bench, bench?
What are we benching?
Benching.
Oh, we got the bench up to 225 the other day.
Oh,
saddle down, son.
I know.
You're still growing.
That'll you could put your back out of whack there.
Take care of your bones.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I was picking dog shit in the backyard the other day.
I still can't stand up straight.
Oh.
Oh.
Oh.
It hurts.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I took my kid to the gym, the big dummy the other day.
They're softest puppy poo.
Yeah.
They are just speaking of puppy poo.
Yeah.
These guys, these, oh, these really hard-nosed hockey players.
Oh.
Yeah.
Today's athlete.
Yeah.
You watched the game last night?
I can see.
I was going to say.
Trends.
Protecting two nothing leads.
Really hitting the gym hard.
But I don't feel, I don't, I'm tired today.
Oh, I don't know.
Oh, okay.
Yeah.
Yeah, let's go home.
So give us a Jack update.
Now, yesterday after the show, there was something you had to do with Pinder, what was
happening yesterday?
We were filming DOD and that was a disaster.
Okay.
Okay.
So he's got one of these shirt mics, right?
When he goes on the road.
And last time, he brought the wrong court.
So it had the USBC plugin and he needed the USB whatever.
So he didn't have the right cord last time.
And this time he brought the mic, he brought the chord,
but the cord like wouldn't work.
So we'd be recording 10 minutes in,
the thing unplugs and he's talking muted.
I don't know what the word is.
I know there's some words we don't use even on the,
it's just not right to use.
But when it comes to anything technical,
Pinder is so challenged.
He is so technically challenged.
When we were doing the shows at the Grey Eagle doing afterburners,
the one day he showed up with the light,
no power cord, no way to plug it in.
Is it just kind of, was it run on magic?
Like what, how does this thing, how are you going to power this thing?
Headphones.
Do you have, oh, you need the right headphone jack?
Oh, I don't have.
have the right headphone jack we are two years into this thing and still he's bringing i don't have
the right cord i don't have and especially when you are challenged you think you'd really kind of double
down okay before i leave here's a checklist of things that i need and he still kind of gets it
that's what's surprising too he's very organized or pretends to be i know notebooks and color
coordinated pens and he does yeah yeah in some ways not
much gets by him. Other things? Ether. Ether. So did you manage to cobble something together?
Because you're being the whiz that you are with some. Yeah, we did. We figured it out. He just went on
the phone and used his headphones. That's good. Well, and remember, it took forever for him to get
headphones. And then he bought headphones and they couldn't connect. And he didn't know, well, should I get,
do I need? What do I need? Well, that was a year in when he finally got some some headphones that he could
used to actually talk and hear on.
So anyway, what else is going on in your life, Jack?
We're going to get out of here.
Not much.
The golf thing, a lot of my buddies are into golf.
And I'm also one of the people that suck at golf and it's frustrating.
I'm thinking about picking it back up.
Okay.
But it's expensive hobby.
What do you need for that to happen?
How can we help?
I don't know.
Like maybe we got to go.
some balls or something you guys are you guys down to do that no because i don't want to go by
myself no no no my buddies won't golf with me when i'm a when i'm shit see then you're not a golfer
so just don't even it's golf is yeah it's an individual thing yeah it's your swing it's your
your club's your swing your mechanics that whole thing yeah because standing beside me at the
driving range yeah
zero bearing on your success.
Now, I get that you want the social aspect
and you're trying to pick me up again, but yeah.
One and done, buddy.
Yeah, appreciate you're trying to include us,
but not really for that.
Well, good luck with that, Jack.
Let us know.
Yeah.
Let us know how that goes.
Because I think there is,
it's kind of a,
there's some solitude.
Don't be a cheat and snibler bastard either.
You don't want to be one of those guys.
People are questioning your handicap.
You go into tournament.
Oh, you're 12, huh?
Oh.
Oh, you've found.
found that ball in there, did you?
Weird. Oh, wow. That's unbelievable.
Because I, I kind of saw it off the tea. I thought there was no way you were going to find that ball.
But I guess you're a very good hunter. Good job in there. Don't be that guy, Jack.
They make more golf balls every day. Don't spend hours looking for a golf ball. Don't cheat.
Just get, get in the, in the cart. Make sure there's two things in the cup holders at all times.
Two things in the cup holders. That's my tip.
There you go. You're welcome. Good luck with your golf game this summer.
Thank you.
That we're doing.
You're all going to do. Oh, shit.
So excited to get out of here. See, I didn't do a lot feeling well, guys. I've got a thing.
I got it.
Yeah.

Well, whatever it was.
The puck didn't go in.
I don't know if the puck was going to go in or not.
I don't either.
I think it was probably.
It looked like it was going to miss, but post an out or something.
We did hit the over.
Good job.
Thanks.
Today we've got Luca daunted first basket plus 550.
The Mavs have won three, the four jump balls open the game.
So win the jump ball, give Luca the ball and get the F out of the way.
And then we're going to continue with.
the overtime in this series.
Three or four games,
if it hit OT,
it's going to hit OT again.
And three in a row,
right?
Three and a row,
yeah.
The last three have all gone to overtime.
I believe if it's four,
it's the first time it's ever happened.
Ever,
ever.
I don't like that.
Now,
Dallas is up in that series three games to one, right?
The Hoops.
Yeah.
Now,
is that kind of a stunner?
Because everybody was excited about it.
I think so. Everyone was super excited about Minnesota.
And yeah,
Dallas is,
completely dominated the first three games Minnesota bounce back.
I think they take this one tonight at home.
Dallas or sorry Minnesota.
Minnesota.
Yeah.
Like they've played well.
Towns has been horrible.
Yeah.
Foul merchant.
You got tossed out of the last game, didn't he?
Filed out.
Yeah, he fouled out.
Yeah.
Come on now.
Anthony Edwards can't do all this himself.
Look at me.
Look at me talking hoops.
You proud of me?
Impressed?
No, my head is spinning.
Yeah.

Rangers post. Get ready for a big one
between the Oilers and the stars.
And I think we're going to talk to
dregs. I've not touched base with him yet, but
Friday is Darren Dregor day.
He was on his way to Saginaw a week ago.
I feel like that he can't still be in Sagina.
I was going to say that's a long time in Saginaw,
but it's a tournament.
That's what you're there for.
But I'll touch base with Mr. Drager today and see if he can be on the show tomorrow.
Either way, it's going to be a great one, you know?
Great show tomorrow.
It'll be real good.
Yeah.
I mean, I'm already looking forward to it so bad.
I don't even want to end this one, but I, um, I
guess we will yeah but that'll just get me excited for tomorrow's show rest up see you buddies
