We can go to one tournament in town. So not 48 times. No, we didn't make it to Vegas and then down to L.A. and then over to Boston. Also, Austin, Texas is really good for a good tournament. There's some good ones in Florida in May that you must attend if you want your kid to have any chance of success. Totally.

After new contracts for Zeri and Ball, and Morgan Frost and signing a backup goalie, the flames are probably still going to be around 15 to 20 million in cap space. Should Craig Conroy say, hey, we suck at scoring goals. We've got a franchise goaltender. We played strong structural defense. Should we go dangle 14 million in front of Mitch Marna?

Does it matter if you dangle 14 million? I don't think it does, but we're playing along here. We're really dying here. No, but I'm curious. This is your favorite game, the what if game. I'm not fine with the what if game, but I'm thinking it might not be Mitch Marner is the big fish that you can even attract.

What other fish are big out there? That would be my question. Well, that's exactly. And that's what I was going to ask you was I'm okay. Well, is Mitch Marner elite? I think so. Can he help your team put up some points? I think so.

Would he come here for $15 million? I don't think so. Maybe. I don't know. I would think if he could get $15 million here versus like three or four other places, this might not be his top pick. the window of it doesn't feel to me. Your taxes, your window, your climate, maybe the new rank helps.

of doing some homework. So 2025 unrestricted free agents. We're sorting by cap hit. Now, that's not perfect because some of the older guys, but essentially we're going to get better players earlier. John Tavares is coming off 11 million a year. He's got the least pajamas. I think he's staying in Toronto.

I think he goes him to nowhere and I don't want him. Mitch Marner 10.9. What's he worth? I would think if he sees Ranting and getting the 12-ish, he's going to want at least that. Not because he's better than them, but because that's not. Okay.

So if he's 12 to stay. I don't know. I think Toronto still wants to keep him. Yeah. Can they pay him 12? And if they can, I think he stays. And if he's comparing 12 in Toronto, what are you going to pay him in Calgary to get him to come out here? Their taxes are slightly better. But it is his hometown and he doesn't necessarily want to go from a team that's tied in the second round.

You have to attract him to Calgary with cash. So you're going to have to pay him more than Toronto by a significant margin. So it's 14. that's 14 million over seven years. Is that enough for a guy that's going to have a hundred and some million in his back pocket? 98 million bucks, I think that is. That's my math.

I'm just saying that if the leaves are giving them 12, and you're saying, well, we'll give you 14. You can only give them a seven-year deal. So seven, and you're giving them two, so seven times two, 14 million bucks more. I don't know. I don't know what drives Mitch Marner. I don't think he's coming here, though.

I think he wants to stay in Toronto, and I think the only reason they wouldn't want him is if they could get Miko Ranting in, which is when they asked him if he'd wave. You said, no thanks. And they've already crossed the barrier where they might risk him for nothing. Oh, they for sure have.

He's making almost eight. So sticker price feels big gamey, but the name doesn't feel that way. Now, here's the thing about DeMich Orlov. He's a left shot defenseman, and they need one desperately. On the right side, you have Uighur, you have Anderson, you have Perak,

you have Miramanov, who's still under contract, you have Coralov now, Carolina. He likes it there, I'm good. although he is from Novo Kuznetz, Russia. So I don't think it's his hometown in. No, but it's bounced around a bit. I would be, I like the idea, Orlov. I think he's a good defense.

33. So he's younger than some of these other guys you're looking at. God. Would you give him two or three years? Would he come for two or three? Is he a guy that you'd feel comfy with playing in the top four? Next. Next, okay.

Is Aden Hill hurting his team with the antics and 70s creesaret? What do you do to stop this nonsense? What's happening? I think Aiden Hill is, I don't think he's hurting his team. I think his team got shit pumped and the oilers are better and they're going to continue to roll.

It looked like Vegas was scared and couldn't keep up last night. I think Aiden Hill's trying to get some emotion into the game and his team didn't want to play with any emotion. So I'm okay with it. And I don't think he has played well. So maybe he's got some, he's, maybe he's trying to get into it more. I don't know.

I don't think his antics are hurting the team. They're not as good. Jack, I just saying something. So Aidan Hill has been one of the better golden nights in the postseason in his career. He's been an excellent playoff performer, with one exception, this year. Yeah, he's not. He has been below average in the NHL postseason goaltending metrics. We've seen them in negative numbers and gold saved above expected,

which is a nerdy way of saying it's not stop as many pucks as you'd expect an NHL goalie to. And that was an area where you'd give the Golden Knights an edge ahead of the series. Aden Hill's ceiling is greater than that of Pickard and Skinner hasn't proven to be that case, the series. Here's his three playoffs. So they missed, what, a couple years ago? No, I didn't. They just not getting up pumped.

I've only focused on goals against and say percentage far right. 22, 23, great numbers. They win the cup, 2.17, 932. Like, that's stellar stuff. Last year, shorter run, 1.7, 931. This year, yuck. Like, way off his numbers. That is, those are Stuart Skinner numbers.

I was hockeying in Lethbridge heavy with the young men's. No dramatics there. But on the other side of things, my kid in lacrosse, parents kicked out of the stadium. Coach kicked out, suspended for two games, and they still pulled off a golden medal win. So there was some fireworks. I wish I could at least witnessed, maybe taking part in. La Crosse is good for that.

There's some heavy activity in the stands, always. Even the seven-year-olds are you getting laid out? Like, there's no. And then the, yeah, get a word. That's my son. Stop it. I do like it. I do like it.

You got an extra off day in the series, Florida and Toronto at 2.0. tired. Everyone was feeling so good in Leaseland, I'm sure, but cats don't go away. The rats, the cats, whatever you want to call them, it's, you knew they weren't in trouble until they lost at home. And sure enough, they'd take care of business winning two in a row in Florida. I would have thought the story would have been, yeah, you know what? You lose, still ours. That's just going to have, but Wol's been fine. Yeah, like, especially on Sunday, a game four, Wool gave you a chance to win. I mean, they were somewhat in that game, at least on the scoreboard, thanks to Joseph Wall. But

Game four, the cats played, they just gave a master class in playoff hockey. There was no time and space whatsoever. Every guy was pulling in the same direction. They were totally committed to playing a certain style and they executed it perfectly and gave the Leafs next to nothing. But the Leafs are a good team and they did get a few chances. They were few and far between and they were, they really had to work for them, but they didn't bury on them. And that was the difference maker. on on Friday though in game three i mean they there was a dream start they scored really early they

got up two goals um they they relinquished that lead but they got another two goal lead later in the game um and it came down to overtime and got this weird bounce from marshan of all people that went off morgan riley um you look back at that one and it haunts you because that was the game where joseph wool you know could have played like he did in game four uh he didn't and he had an absolute squeaker let in from just inside of the blue line, which, I mean, that's going to haunt Leafs fans forever if the series doesn't go the way they're hoping. We always felt this was going to be a long series, especially when Leefs went early. Like, I don't think anyone thought it was short.

It just feels like it's a Leafs way. It's going to be six or seven. They're going to be these huge stress games. But it does feel like this group's a little better equipped to deal with them. Maybe it's just a decade of doing it, or maybe it's a bit of a change in the DNA with some of the guys they brought in the coach. but when you see Florida win two and turn this into a best of three, is it like, oh, shoot, here we go, leaps are cooked?

Or you're like, no, this is kind of what we expected. A little bit of both, like the ghosts of playoff paths were there. Just seeing the Mariners of the world and the Matthews of the world just completely irrelevant. Like, Mitch didn't get a shot on net the last two games. Like you go down to Florida, not one. It's like, come on, guy. Like, I've already made my mind up on Mitch Marner. But this team's good enough to win if those.

guys aren't themselves. Austin Matthews is a shell of himself, whether he's injured or not. The fact of the matter is he's not a big factor in this series. And you'd think they wouldn't have any hope in the past and they haven't if those guys aren't going. But they're not really going. Mitch has been decent so far sometimes in the past, but not the last two games that they lost. You got the Matthew Nises the world. And Neelander has stepped up in our dear, unbelievable. And we got goal tending depth. Craig Brubay's got them committed to a style of play that is more like the Florida Panthers. I stroke the Florida Panthers all year long.

I think they're the best team in hockey. They are the definition of playoff success, and they've all bought into it. They've got dogs on top of dogs, on top of dogs. And, you know, if Mitch Mariner and Austin Matthews don't become dogs miraculously, somehow this team still seems to be good enough and be able to get it done. So it's no small task, like you said. No one thought it was going to be easy.

Maybe some idiots did when they went up to nothing and thought it was going to be like that the whole time. time but like the cats found their game and it's going to be a it's going to be a war i thought they had them when it was game three over the weekend they got up in game three i was like that's the one it's like that would have been incredible to go up three nothing on them and you know you had to split down in florida right you you're still in complete driver's seat if you split down there i mean i don't think anyone realistically thought they're going to sweep them but you could have pulled off that friday game three and then it would have been maybe a scheduled loss on sunday fine but you're going

home up three one it's a totally different story and they were so damn close. But I think that the one thing that people don't forget, and everyone in Leifes Nation melts down as soon as they get a semblance of the past, right? Because there's so much scar tissue, but it is 2-2 going home. And as bad as that game looked on Sunday,

it wasn't even that the Leifes lost the game as much as it was, the Panthers won it, but they were still in, it was a one-goal game. Right. Chances you had a Nealinder breakway, you had Nyes kind of almost open net backhand where Bobber wasn't in a position to score.

matchup the Leafs lick their chops at or is that a I don't think you're licking your chops at anyone I mean they're going to knock off you know one of the better teams this year potentially I mean that series not over but I haven't watched a ton of Carolina hockey but there's nobody that is the Florida Panthers they are well coached they have Vesna winning caliber uh uh goaltending their defensemen or like just look at you got Ekblad you got to chuck you got Marshawn you got Bennett you got Reinhart and you've got experience you've already been down here you know it takes, you know what it looks like, you know what it feels like. They're unbelievable. And the fact that the Leafs had them down to Cobb and we're looking like they could go up three says a lot about the Leafs. Now you're in a dog fight. But again, if they get by them, I don't think there's a team like they're not going to take the next round, you know, the Eastern Conference final lightly if we can get there. It's not about the flames, but you said you made your mind up on Marner. What's your mind made up on and what is the position you hold? Well, I don't think there's ever been a bigger

disparity between the regular season and the playoffs as there is now. Like the league's quite soft compared to how it was 15 years ago. That's no secret. But in the playoffs, it's the dogs that show up. It's the playoff mentality. Who can do those dark arts who can play through more who can forecheck harder who can take those hits who can get involved and like elevate their game when it's difficult and my knock on mariner has always been like yeah you're fancy as hell and you can go through your legs and you can backhand sauce it with

the best of them you're super talented no one's questioning that but when the going gets tough and you need those dogs that I mentioned that are on florida to elevate and get you over the hump and be the one that's making it difficult he goes away he just goes he hasn't got a shot on the net in two games. And he's done other things that are great, but it's always like he's doing all these things that are great until it gets tough and then he's gone. And, you know, they've got too many pieces in place right now with what tree living's done, where Barubei's taking this team. They've already wasted nine years. Like this isn't a hot take of me going, wow, that's a lot. Like this, we see this every single time. It's proven. And if they resign him for,

I don't even know, I don't even care what it is, like that's the definition of insanity doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. We know what this guy is. He's not a dog. And I'm sorry to say it, but that's the reality of this situation that he's put himself in by fading and becoming a ghost every time the going gets tough. They can win without them in your opinion right now. They're good enough? Like a guy like Matthew Nyes, like he steps up, Nealander's still there. I mean, John Tavares, he can play in these games. He's older and he's not that fast. But, you know, you get in those down low puck battles where you got to use your body and you've got to spin off a guy and you got to be digging and mucking and you look and you see something opened up or

that d man just closed on me too and he can use his body spin off and center and make those plays Mitch needs time and he needs space and he needs to do the loop de up out there and la dee da and when the panthers are playing their hockey he he can't do it i'm just yeah i'm just curious like i'm thinking about marner in the future in Toronto and what do they do because you're right like they need it i feel like he needs to contribute a little bit if they're going to win or go to the Stanley Cup finals this year. And then you're in the situation while we got the finals, how do we walk away from this guy?

I know. It's an anomaly and they've been there for a while with like, how do you walk away with this guy who does XYZ and does the things that he does? He is a special player in many aspects. But it's that last finishing thing that they need to get over the hump, the Maple Leafs, and that is like no one cares that they had a 116 point season or that they win the Atlantic or any of that stuff. Like it doesn't matter.

It's only playoff success in that. that city and he has done everything but but that and it's like i think everyone realizes to a degree that he is very good but like he's not the one that's going to get us over this hump and it is if they lose this series that will be the talk of the town him and matthews like you're our top dogs you get paid you want this and you want that and you're like everyone else who goes deep in the playoffs has their big dogs step up and elevate their game and they're doing the opposite like it's it's just people have had enough but i crazily enough the you know their depth um the other guys that they do have like there's the games where those

guys are kind of ghost matthews has been a ghost all like all all series long you know he's doing other things which is great but people are like trying to say oh he's reinvented himself you don't take a rocket richard winner and turn him into a decent third liner walking shots and winning faceoffs and say that's what he meant to do he's a shell of himself right now and um despite that though they're still in the series and and they've been in control for a lot of it so we'll see what happens Yeah, and see, I agree with a lot of that. I thought the Four Nations things probably helped Mitch a bit. I think he's talked a lot about being around Sid and seeing the calm and the poise.

And we saw Mitch having tantrums on the bench last year this time of year, less of that. And to be fair, it's the best of three. If those two guys want to put together a couple of games here, you've kind of rewritten stuff a bit. Now, that doesn't mean you have to resign this guy, but I don't know. It's a weird spot to be in because I think they like Mitch. I think they love Mitch. And when you're paying what he's going to be asking for,

you probably got to love a guy. Look what Rantin's doing. Look what Dry Sattel and McDavid are doing. Look what Barkov gives the Florida Panthers. Like if you're going to make that kind of money, you've got to be a money player. Yeah, for sure. And I mean, there's no guarantees that if you let him walk.

I mean, that hurts to let him walk for nothing if that is the case. There's no guarantees you're going to go shopping on July 1 and, like, fix all your problems. And it's very likely that he'll go off somewhere else and have a bunch of success. And all the lovers of Mitch will say, see look what we let but i mean this is the ninth year with this group and it's the same story all the time when when the rubber hits the road and it's that he doesn't really have that dog in him i he's not pinder at at the the pond hockey tournament where it is pinned his hinders stanley cup this is

mitch's stanley cup and he never elevates um people are getting tired of it and again you've got to commit a massive amount then you're literally just doing the same thing and you have the same team and you don't have enough cap space to work around and get the guys that you need um I just, I'm sorry, I can't watch it anymore. And so a lot of people are on that as well. He has been better since Four Nations. He was good in the first round. He's done some good things.

I'm not, he's not terrible by any stretch. But it's like, do you commit that money to him knowing what you know and what have you seen? And there has been one constant. And it's when you play a team that you have to beat to get to the Stanley Cup, which is like the Florida Panthers. He's not capable. He's not. It's not the type of player he is. and he has success in the regular season because that's regular season hockey.

He doesn't in the playoffs because that's playoff hockey. And he's one guy who's just proven time and time again. He's not suited for the playoffs so far. I mean, it's up for grabs. There's a game on Wednesday. Do you want to change that Mitch? Let's go. I'm all about it.

And I'll change my tune to a degree as well if he wants to try to do that. But he's going to kind of have to reinvent his game almost and do things he's never been willing to do if he's going to get over that hump and be the guy that rise. above, especially against the Panthers. One of the things Trill Living always talked about, you talk about, you've mentioned it already. It's just how different playoff hockey is in regular season. And so in a regular season,

you would always take Mitch Martyr ahead of Sam Bennett's 50 points, always. But I think this time of year, you look around the room and all of us would take Sam Bennett over Mitch Marner. 100%. Look at those guys down there. It's a perfect description of how different the styles are. And when you get into seven-game

war, well, that might be the exact scenario. Maybe. Yeah, because Sam's a free agent. The other thing, too, is like, I don't know if you're hearing much in Toronto about it, but like Matthew Nyes is going to be a very, very juicy offer sheet target. If the Leafs just get him locked in at 8, 9,

and get that sorted away, let Mitch go and now see if they've got enough left for Sam Bennett. I mean, you're sort of telling me Matthew Nyes is a more important piece in the postseason. In the regular season, he's naughty at a good year. But everyone would give up. that in the playoffs. Stupid regular season first place for for a deep run. Of course you are,

especially in Toronto because you've had the 100 point seasons every GD year and it's led to nothing. Yeah, and it's because you have the guys like Mitch who are, no one cares about his hundred points. He's only done that once in his career, by the way, but that's fine and dandy.

But then you have to totally flip a switch and it's like game, you know, seven games against these teams that come up that do well and have success in the playoffs, which the template right now is the Florida Pant. there's that doesn't get you anywhere.

Like the stuff that works in the regular season doesn't work now. And if you look at, you know, the impact that Bennett has made in this series, it's just, it's astronomical compared to Mitch. And you look at Matthew Nyes and like this kid is a workhorse. He embodies what it takes to have success in the playoffs. The physicality, the forecheck, the big body, the turning puck's over and just he's, and then he's got the skill to finish when he gets opportunities.

He's a horse. yeah, he's not getting to any offer sheet opportunities. He's not going to make it to July 1. I think he wants to be here and they're going to lock him up. And it's whether it's a bridge deal or more or whatever, he's going to be locked. Sure, I'd give the guy, like, look at where the cap's going, where the league's going and all the rest of it. Even if he signs like a five year deal on the third year of that deal, you're going to go, oh, my God, we got to make hay with this kid while we got him at this number. Because, I mean, his ceiling is through the roof.

You've got to surround, you got to build around that kind of thing. And, like, Nealander tends to step up when the going gets tough. He's scored big goals. He's been big in the playoffs before. Like, there's kind of your franchise. And I don't know what's going on with Austin Matthews. Is he hurt? Is he what?

But I wish he had more of that dog in him, too. He tends to kind of just be the look on his face and his body language is just kind of like, and I want someone that gets pissed off and says, get on my back. We're going to war. I haven't seen that out of him either. And he's taking some heat for it lately. We had our first fight in the postseason last night. Yes.

That's the only time in here you go. Only time he's in the fight is when he's not holding it. Like, why are you grabbing his hand? Why are you grabbing with your right hand right now? That drives me nuts. And it just, he's just like, okay, now you're not throwing any punches at me. I guess I'll go on the offense and away it goes. But the bottom line is he showed up.

Tensions got high. Things escalated. The gloves came off, which I'm shocked they don't more in the playoffs with the stuff that happens. I've never understood that. Why? Just because it's the playoffs, do you not scrap? It's the most important time you can momentum is worth everything. If you can get a guy to drop them with you, why don't they do that more often?

It blows my mind. Look, we did a podcast for two years, J&I, Department of Discipline. And if I got a nickel for every time, you said, don't lower your head. Like, you're just, at the moment you duck your head, you're losing the fight. It's like 95% of the time. I can think of one time I did it in junior. I wasn't really much of a fighter yet or know what was going on in this big, tough guy named Wenzel and the Alberta Junior Hockey League.

He played for Brooks. I put my head down and he was just feeding me upies and I kept thinking, oh, I can get myself back in this. I can get myself back in this. Meanwhile, I ate about seven. The whole side of my face was swollen. It was a disaster. And I realized like, that's not a position to be in ever.

And as I started scrapping more, if anyone put their head down, you're just laughing. You're like, okay, relinquish complete control to me to do whatever I want. But I think that's just the natural human reaction when you're, when you're scared and you're trying to. to protect yourself you duck and go into a little ball but it doesn't do you much on on an ice hockey fight does it

are we uh are we seeing a team to the north play uh real good hockey right now because coilers because they shit pumped Vegas last night don't like this Jay

they ran them out of the I don't even like to say it I don't like discussing it I don't want to do it they were very Florida Panthers last night. They skated. They hit the piss out of Vegas. Vegas looks scared and the

Oilers completely in control. They physically impose their will. 100%. And for 60 minutes, you're just in control. You relinquish nothing. It's like a master class. And yeah, that is like Florida Panthers on Sunday. I was hard on the Oilers all year long.

I'm like, they are a hot mess of all these contracts and nurse and what is up with Bushard? And You're really riding in here again. And it's just a nightmare. I'm like, why are, why are they so favored still in the playoffs? I was totally hard on them. And I don't know what the future holds.

But when they put it together, they have got a lot going for them. And they seem to have, they're like this, they're not rag tag group. Nobody with McDavid and Drysidler rag tag. But they got this group that's kind of like just a hot mess of like, what are you guys doing? And then they all put it together at some points in time. And they happen to do it when it matters. Um, hats off to them. I don't hate them the way you guys do.

Um, hey, good Alberta teams, I'm fine with it. But God, they're, they're, they're, they're, if, if nothing else, they are absolutely incredibly exciting to watch. I just want to get this out there because I'm seeing some stuff online and talk to you. We're just unbiased, uh, hockey fans, journalists, pros. I literally, I literally, yeah, I literally don't really. I don't know why you live in Alberta and, and just like, say you live in red deer and you hate the flame.

but you just love it's like why like if if one of them is not in it wouldn't that be your second choice i don't get it my brother cheers for the oilers i can never do it so it's john it's can't it's fun that way though you create the rivalries and get the group chats chirping off it's uh but you're gonna find yourself in positions like this where the flames are like what are we talking about right now meanwhile your your rivals and your your hated franchise is is on a run it's that's tough too. What did uh, speaking of brothers, big brother to J-Rose. So what did he say after you ducked your head in eight, seven against Wenzel? Oh, good question. I think he went after there. Guys, we kind of switch it a bit. I'm trying to remember. I think he just thought like, why, why are you doing that? But I went

after him again later on and had a better scrap. So maybe I was trying to get the respect of guys like my big brother that I was, uh, following in the coattails of. Uh, looks. Uh, looks. like we're going to get hayskinned back for the stars potentially tonight. That's huge news for Dallas. Last call for Winnipeg here. I've been kind of, I don't understand the hell of buck in the playoffs thing. It's the same puck. It's the same size net. It's the same decor in front of you.

Sure, things are a little different, but he looks like a guy in the playoffs and he's far and away the best goalie in the regular season. Like, isn't that wild? It's to be, like we're talking heart trophy consideration. Bezziasna is a lot of top. Like you are a goalie. Look at his look at his record in those losses

and his numbers it's like 6.6.6 7 goals like that's like what is this a fucking is this lacrosse? And then his safe percentage is like in the sevens or so like what are we doing? Do you're the best in the world? It's upstairs 100%. It's between the years.

I don't think anyone in the league could benefit more than from a sports psychologist than that guy. Whether he's seeing one or not, I don't know. But that's a mental thing to me. Like you say, It's a four by six net. It's a rubber puck. Like, just you know how to play it.

Obviously, you're one of the best in the world. But I really think that when the Jets were on the run that they were on through the regular season, just what a phenomenal 82 games they put together. But no one would give them their flowers or no one was willing to step up and say they're the team to beat. And I think it's because of his record in the playoffs. And it did not start well. And I know he ripped off a shutout there recently, but he's going on the road again. And we will see where that's at.

I think it all obviously hinders on him. If he's not good, they don't have a chance. Carolina is annoying, but I think they're kind of built for this thing. I know, look, if we get four teams left, they're all good. I don't think there's any frauds left, especially if Dallas and Edmonton and Carolina and whoever wins that other series is through. Like, there's nothing easy.

But the way Carolina does it, it's kind of a template you've seen before. It's a great goaltending. It's incredible team structure. It's a deep, deep team. They don't allow you to get chances with any ease at all. And they work their tails off. Like, they're not fun to watch, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if that's the team coming out of the east.

Yeah, and I think Brendan Moore at the helm, he kind of knows what he, his experience level, he knows what it looks like. And he's doing pretty good at getting those guys to buy in. That's what it's all about. Like the Panthers last game, you just have everyone buying in. And Paul Maurice has done very well with that group on getting them to understand, like, this is what it looks like. And yeah, it's uncomfortable.

Yeah, yeah, your legs are going to burn. Yeah, it's going to hurt. And yeah, that might not be the way you've played. your whole life. But do you want to win a cup or not? And that's the same thing in Carolina, when they're deep and you can roll the lines and everyone's doing the same thing and you overwhelm your opponent and they get frustrated and they start to reinvent, you know, their game plan because it's not going well. Then everything just goes to shit and you just rip off a 60 minutes and say thanks for coming. That's what you have to do in the playoffs. And yeah, they're pretty good at that.

And that is the most boring series and the one that people care about least, I'm sure. But again, like you say, nobody that's going to be left over in the final four is going to be any slouch. What's your thoughts if you lose three of the core five this off season? I don't sure about the core five, but I think it would be what, Marner, Tavares, who else would be gone?

Nise. So, yeah, Tavares, they were talking about like four and a half, five. Does that get him done? I mean, he was pushing 40 goals this year. Um, character, leadership. He, he's fantastic. And he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he's, he, he's, he's, he's, he's, he bumps him up to like eight, nine million bucks.

It's, it's, it's tough to know what he's going to get if he want, and I think he wants to be in Toronto, right? Um, I know he's kind of side note, he's got like some tax issues and stuff in the past. I don't know how much he's willing to take a big old hometown discount. Um, but he's someone that I think people would like to have him back. He could be such a good depth piece, uh, you know, for the next couple of years. he's 34. It's not like he's 37. Nize isn't going anywhere.

They will bend over backwards to lock him up and whatever the number is will be totally fine. The longer, the better if you ask me. And Martiner's the big question. Nealander's locked up and Matthews is locked up. So I just can't help but think they're just going to be too far apart and tree is just going to be going, we're just not at a position to commit that much money to the man.

We like him, blah, blah, blah. And then he's going to go, well, look at all the comparables, blah, blah, and they're going to say, well, did he do what ratting and did? And they're just never going to come together and shape. shake hands and he's going to walk. That's my prediction and that's kind of what I hope happens. I don't, I don't have any personal against him, but just what I've seen, you need this team to have some kind of a dog to get you over the hump and he's not that guy. Honestly, if you think about it, I think Tree would rather pay Bennett 9 a year than he would pay Martyr 14. And maybe both

those numbers are high, but I just think this time a year. Well, look what Bennett's doing. Look at his track record. Look at how well he can elevate his game and get into the fight and drag his team, you know, to where they need to go. That's not, Mitch does the opposite. He does things that are personal accolades and gets his little trophies and stuff. And he's on the posters and is signed by fucking, you know, Cheerios. And that's great. He's marketable and he's a fresh face little kid.

I don't care. When the going gets tough, I want that guy that is going to go to war with you. And he's proven time and time and time again, that's not him. And that's all you need to know if you ask me. Yeah. Any other leafers in the chat, Jack? Will Trill Living drop the balls? Oh, geez.

I don't think anyone gives them enough props on, like with Tanev and McCabe and OEL and Carlo and Ben Waz, like a number six guy who's just all. all the whole time. And like, honestly, the straggler at times is Morgan Riley. And he's like an all-star.

So they're super deep back there. He got Stolars. I don't know if he saw some other people's people didn't or if that was just a luck of the draw type of thing. And then he brought in some other depth pieces that, you know, are more suited for the playoffs. And I think that's why they're having success this year. He's just been handcuffed with some of the no trade clauses that have been put out there.

I think he wanted to make a move to get ranting in, which can you imagine what that would look like right now? again, Mitch Marner blocked that. There's just so many reasons that there's a flashlight, Sean, right on the problem here. And if it gets rectified or not, but I mean, if Bennett's willing to come here and if he's worth $9 million, I don't think you could get him to sign that fast enough if you were tree living.
