So Monday's a holiday, so we won't have to work that day.
Is it Friday holiday?
It's a holiday for teachers and kids.
Is it?
Are they getting Friday off?
Come on.
I know some.
I got to check that.
I got that somewhere in here.
Should we just take Friday off too, Jack?
Yeah.
I've been trying to get a day off for years.
You and Wrette should go grab a drink on Friday.
Sure.
If I get the day off, I'm leaving town.
Where are you going?
Actually, yeah, I'm gone too.
You should go to Montana.
I should.
Oh, hey, welcome to the show.
It's presented by Bet365.
We'll get back to Jack's vacation plans in mere moments.
Just moments.
Never ordinary.
Bet, 365.
Have some fun.
You're watching the games already anyway.
Maybe you don't want to watch a certain series anymore.
Maybe you've had enough of it.
Maybe.
Maybe.
Maybe it's putting you to sleep or maybe in a different series of team you want
desperately to lose is winning.
You don't have to watch that.
You can watch the Js in the race tonight.
You can also hedge your first.
fun so you could have a happiness edge oh you're hedged hard last night it's not working does that mean
i'm not betting enough no hang on don't do that welcome to barn burner it is uh pender retro jack the
producer and the wolverine rar rummaging in the back is he he's rummaging we had a day yesterday
we're men about town where you yeah high flute nay we're at the pub over there with the uh the good
sandwiches and then we went over to McMahon, top secret there.
And then we ended up playing darts for a bit.
I fed him.
That doesn't sound like a men about town.
Men about town go to like those fancy Bow Valley Club and this and that and hang out with high flute and people.
Why does that be fancy?
You guys were two skids trying to find a free beer is the way it sounds to me.
Yeah.
Okay.
That's not men about.
We were not men about town yesterday.
We were losers looking for free beer.
It might be referred to as hooligans.
Hooligans indeed.
Welcome to the program.
Today it's a free for all.
I guess there must not have been hockey last night.
Nothing to talk about sports-wise.
It's too early for the Jay's games to matter.
Jack, you have anything to say last night?
Is there a game yesterday?
I don't remember any.
Nope, nope.
I can think of.
So if you got a comment, fire it in.
It's my uncle's 60th birthday.
Happy birthday. Happy birthday.
Happy birthday.
Oh, not your drunkal.
No.
Well, he drinks too much too.
Oh, really?
Yeah.
He married into the family as well.
We don't really like that.
Interesting.
And did he have the drinking problem before?
I think so.
Okay.
It's been a life long.
Happy birthday.
Jack, any comments?
You just want to fire in.
Let's just get them rolling.
You can get to the front of the queue.
Can we call Dean?
Maybe Dean has some uplifting news.
No, no, I was joking.
Yeah.
I was going to say if you want uplifting.
There's a lot of oilers comments.
Oilers?
Are they still going?
Are they?
Huh.
Okotoks?
Got to be.
They might be.
Okotoks Oilers.
Are they playing the Canucks in the Centennial Cup championship?
Last night, Brooks defeated Penticton and the BC.
They knocked them out?
Yep.
And Tickton's played their final game in the BC League.
But the Oilers would be in the A.J.
So that is.
They're not in the A.
They're not in the Bs.
Oh, they went to.
That's right.
So they got dust too.
I saw them.
That's right.
That's right.
Of course.
So they've been done for a while.
They got playing.
Koed round one.
Conucks tournament that's going on.
right now right we should go to that maybe that's hockey jack you're gonna go with connect's games
sure okay yeah he's a good question from grant yeah grant what's up
Rhett do you think you would make this current flames team in your prime oh hell yeah you
kidding me I'm not letting you answer that wasn't a bad player grant I don't know what the
grant did you see how much miramanov and Hanley and chris salov we had your chris tenev
i can play longer arms yeah and longer arm
It was either.
It'd fight someone.
So tough.
Tan, I've taken strays early.
If you want to jump the queue on our comment,
Paloza today, it is the Super Chats for the U-Senters of Calgary.
Put a monetary amount on any comment you got.
We'll run it right to the front of the queue.
Jack, super chats, get on screen when they're made today.
That's the rule.
Okay?
We're doing it for the kids.
Use centers of Calgary.
Unless we get a guest on, or it's as long as, hey, we got Jay Rose still coming on today.
I think the Leafs are still playing.
I'm a little worried about it.
Sam Bennett's playing.
We'll play off Sam Bennett.
Sam Bennett's still going.
Tonight.
Comments come in when.
Just throw them up.
Just get them in.
If you see a good comment, Jack.
And it's a super,
super chats right in.
Comments,
we fit them in where they fit.
Comment Paloza.
It's Tuesday.
And the US of Chicago take care of the kids
between school when mom and dad get home.
Great thing in communities that need a little help.
We can talk AFL.
You watch it more?
Huh?
You watch it more?
Oh, I love it.
You got a team?
I watch it.
Your Fremantle guy?
What do you got?
Oh.
Brisbane?
Collingwood.
Collingwood?
Oh, yeah.
Okay.
Say Kilda?
No, wait.
Which team is Ozzy Brats?
That's the team I got you for.
You good question.
Forget.
Don't you have a jersey in here somewhere?
Yeah, I do.
Where did all that stuff go?
There's a drawer by your legs.
Yeah, I think it's hidden.
in there. Someone brought one back from Oz for us.
Appreciate that. Very good.
So yes, we are underway. We have Jay Rose Hill today.
He was in Toronto.
Is he traveling down south with...
He didn't go down south.
Eight-year-old hockey and chasing Stanley Cups and agents?
I confused because Nick Alberga did go to Florida for the Florida game.
So when you said down south, I'm sure Jay Rosell couldn't go to Florida because he's grooming so many NHLers on his spring team.
and had to go to like left.
Huawei, yeah, we can't be taking days to go watch hockey
that isn't involving my kids hockey
where I'm spending out landish amounts.
It's spring, so they're all going to be NHLers.
They need the time and attention.
There's got to be a tournament Boston somewhere we can get to.
Come on, let's go.
What is the farthest you've traveled for spring hockey?
I've never played spring hockey.
Really?
My kids playing spring hockey.
My youngest is playing spring hockey this year, I guess,
technically.
No, it's fine because we're just practicing twice.
We can go to one tournament in town.
So not 48 times.
No, we didn't make it to Vegas and then down to L.A.
and then over to Boston.
Also, Austin, Texas is really good for a good tournament.
There's some good ones in Florida in May that you must attend
if you want your kid to have any chance of success.
Totally.
Tough these days.
That's not easy.
Yeah.
It's not easy at all.
A lot of fundraising.
you did bottle drives raffling off Lamborghinis what they're not you know what they do they mule drugs across the oh that's good yeah well that's easier you know that you're on those trips so you'll just no you bring it north or you send it itself what you whatever both ways make more money you don't want to have an open leg you got that
you got that hollow leg fellow something both ways baby let's go uh so yes it is comment paloza it is a tuesday we are still without our
Ray of Sunshine.
Yeah.
Only update we had was from the...
I don't want an update going into this.
I didn't know what the F was going on.
It makes less sense the more I learn about it.
I'm going to... I'm just... Let's pretend it didn't happen
because I would love to berate, but it's not worth it.
No.
We could talk politics. That's always fun.
So good. Cabinet came out. We could talk
about all the people who...
Caharney put into cabinet positions.
Did they get free, Jeff?
from foreign countries or no hell yeah hell yeah yeah yeah like a gig jack you're on your own jet you gotta get
into politics let's go on jack you'd be a great politician would i be good would i be good oh yeah because you're
just flying your head i got a bit of a cut yeah let's see no it's not on camera just for
you later get a bad cut the hell's that supposed to if you shaved your head what were you expected
get some comments in jack do some work come on you know what else we can do food i could eat on camera
today. Could you? Well, I'm just, I'm trying to avoid things that aren't worth talking about.
Oh, my favorite steaks at Mercado.
I've not been to the chairmen's down in mahogany. I have. It's exceptional. I heard it is phenomenal.
Have you been. Well, I think it's, they just called, what's that? It's a steakhouse out in the
foothills towards high river, not high river.
Critus area?
Further south.
Like south of Turner Valley and Black Diamond.
I've heard about this.
I've never been.
Yeah, it's very.
Is that at the fancy hotel thing or is it separate than that?
No, I don't think it's like.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, turning.
Okay, I've heard about this one.
What's that one called?
I forget.
Yeah.
It doesn't really matter.
Now, here's the thing.
If you're asking about a great steak in Calgary,
that's like asking about a nightclub in Vegas.
I mean, we are spoiled here.
There's a lot of great places.
Hard to screw up Alberta beef here in Albara.
It is true.
There's a lot of great options.
You're downtown.
There's a ton of loan.
What is that?
Just go on the top and put steak in there once you got it certainly.
Longview steakhouse.
Yes.
That's it.
In Longview.
In Longview.
Good place for it.
Beautiful view.
Didn't they name the city after the steakhouse?
Huh?
They named the city after the steakhouse.
No.
No.
But it's supposed to be good.
You can't get in.
That's, uh, it's like, it's like Marlup.
You can't get in.
Yeah, over.
They trap you until you surrender your wallet.
It's the whole business plan.
All right.
I do have some flamesy stuff.
Let's jump to,
we're going to steal something from the Pender Report.
Item three.
So this came up today.
Pender Daily, here we are.
Good.
Thank you, Doug.
Doug, you're reading my mail, you creep.
Good boy, Doug.
Doug, get your binoculars off my front yard.
Doug.
Doug.
Doug.
Doug.
Doug.
You prefer the Dugg spelling, though?
Doug the dog.
Dig, Doug.
yes this is said article
now I don't know who Anthony DeMarco is to be fair
you probably doesn't know who we are so that doesn't mean anything
I don't know can you write
AI can write and if I just put my name
am I allowed to submit what would you tell I had to write
what are the odds the flames are going to go
big game hunting this summer
no we have to define what big game hunting is
like maybe maybe Connie takes
uh
takes Dave known us out on a hunting trip
does that count well that sounds dangerous
Is that like when who was the
Genie
got his buddy in the face? Do you remember that?
Oh no. Oh no, no, no.
Amy of the animals.
Okay, so here it is.
Anthony DeMarco Daily Faceoff,
which is a part of our network.
I'm sure that you've got to do some stuff
to create content in the summer, but not quite there.
And he makes a compelling point.
After new contracts for Zeri and Ball,
and Morgan Frost and signing a backup goalie,
the flames are probably still going to be around 15 to 20 million in cap space.
Should Craig Conroy say,
hey, we suck at scoring goals.
We've got a franchise goaltender.
We played strong structural defense.
Should we go dangle 14 million in front of Mitch Marna?
Does it matter if you dangle 14 million?
I don't think it does, but we're playing along here.
We're really dying here.
No, but I'm curious.
This is your favorite game, the what if game.
I'm not fine with the what if game,
but I'm thinking it might not be Mitch
Marner is the big fish that you can even attract.
What other fish are big out there?
That would be my question.
Well, that's exactly.
And that's what I was going to ask you was I'm okay.
Well, is Mitch Marner elite?
I think so.
Can he help your team put up some points?
I think so.
Would he come here for $15 million?
I don't think so.
Maybe.
I don't know.
I would think if he could get $15 million here versus like three or four other
places, this might not be his top pick.
the window of it doesn't feel to me.
Your taxes, your window, your climate, maybe the new rank helps.
I don't know.
And I'm not, I'm not, S talking Calgary.
But there's just more appetizing places.
Exactly.
Everyone always like, oh, you talk better.
No, there's other places out there that are like, this is real nice, better taxes, better travel, ranks done.
Okay, I got some names for you here.
All right.
of doing some homework.
So 2025 unrestricted free agents.
We're sorting by cap hit.
Now, that's not perfect because some of the older guys,
but essentially we're going to get better players earlier.
John Tavares is coming off 11 million a year.
He's got the least pajamas.
I think he's staying in Toronto.
I think he goes him to nowhere and I don't want him.
Mitch Marner 10.9.
What's he worth?
I would think if he sees Ranting and getting the 12-ish,
he's going to want at least that.
Not because he's better than them,
but because that's not.
Okay.
So if he's 12 to stay.
I don't know. I think Toronto still wants to keep him.
Yeah.
Can they pay him 12?
And if they can, I think he stays.
And if he's comparing 12 in Toronto, what are you going to pay him in Calgary to get him to come out here?
Their taxes are slightly better.
But it is his hometown and he doesn't necessarily want to go from a team that's tied in the second round.
You have to attract him to Calgary with cash.
So you're going to have to pay him more than Toronto by a significant margin.
So it's 14.
that's 14 million over seven years.
Is that enough for a guy that's going to have
a hundred and some million in his back pocket?
98 million bucks, I think that is.
That's my math.
I'm just saying that if the leaves are giving them 12,
and you're saying, well, we'll give you 14.
You can only give them a seven-year deal.
So seven, and you're giving them two,
so seven times two, 14 million bucks more.
I don't know.
I don't know what drives Mitch Marner.
I don't think he's coming here, though.
I think he wants to stay in Toronto,
and I think the only reason they wouldn't want him
is if they could get Miko Ranting in,
which is when they asked him if he'd wave.
You said, no thanks.
And they've already crossed the barrier
where they might risk him for nothing.
Oh, they for sure have.
Yeah, you've walked him past trade death.
Yeah, we'll go sign Besser or whoever else is.
So there we are.
Let's get some other names.
Jamie Ben, he's not young, nine and a half.
He's not coming here, and I don't want him.
Brent Burns.
I like his game, but.
Brent Burns, 40.
Carolina's rolling.
Demet, Demetri, Orlo.
is interesting.
Orloff's not an incredibly sexy name,
but he's exactly what the flames need.
Is that big game?
Would you consider that big game hunting?
He's making almost eight.
So sticker price feels big gamey,
but the name doesn't feel that way.
Now, here's the thing about DeMich Orlov.
He's a left shot defenseman,
and they need one desperately.
On the right side, you have Uighur,
you have Anderson, you have Perak,
you have Miramanov, who's still under contract,
you have Coralov now, Carolina.
He likes it there, I'm good.
although he is from Novo Kuznetz, Russia.
So I don't think it's his hometown in.
No, but it's bounced around a bit.
I would be, I like the idea, Orlov.
I think he's a good defense.
33.
So he's younger than some of these other guys you're looking at.
God.
Would you give him two or three years?
Would he come for two or three?
Is he a guy that you'd feel comfy with playing in the top four?
Next.
Next, okay.
I would be comfortable playing him in the top four for now.
Orlo's been a name I brought up a couple times just because they need a left shot
D and they got money to spend.
Yeah.
So, okay.
Jack,
what are the comments?
Like,
we need some comments here,
Jack, get to work.
We've got some super chats.
Let's go.
Come on now.
Super chats right in.
Interact with us.
Interact with the show.
Is Aden Hill hurting his team
with the antics and 70s creesaret?
What do you do to stop this nonsense?
What's happening?
I think Aiden Hill is,
I don't think he's hurting his team.
I think his team got shit pumped and the oilers are better and they're going to
continue to roll.
It looked like Vegas was scared and couldn't keep up last night.
I think Aiden Hill's trying to get some emotion into the game
and his team didn't want to play with any emotion.
So I'm okay with it.
And I don't think he has played well.
So maybe he's got some, he's,
maybe he's trying to get into it more.
I don't know.
I don't think his antics are hurting the team.
They're not as good.
Jack, I just saying something.
So Aidan Hill has been one of the better golden nights in the postseason in his career.
He's been an excellent playoff performer, with one exception, this year.
Yeah, he's not.
He has been below average in the NHL postseason goaltending metrics.
We've seen them in negative numbers and gold saved above expected,
which is a nerdy way of saying it's not stop as many pucks as you'd expect an NHL goalie to.
And that was an area where you'd give the Golden Knights an edge ahead of the series.
Aden Hill's ceiling is greater than that of Pickard and Skinner hasn't proven to be that case,
the series.
Here's his three playoffs.
So they missed, what, a couple years ago?
No, I didn't.
They just not getting up pumped.
I've only focused on goals against and say percentage far right.
22, 23, great numbers.
They win the cup, 2.17, 932.
Like, that's stellar stuff.
Last year, shorter run, 1.7, 931.
This year, yuck.
Like, way off his numbers.
That is, those are Stuart Skinner numbers.
there.
Like, yeah.
You needed, if the, the, the gold knights are going to win this series,
you needed one more saving game two.
Win that one, now your square going home.
And it, you know, that's getting real nitpicky, one more saving that game.
But point being, he's sporting, uh, 870 something.
Yeah.
And that's, that's not giving you any edge against the oilers who have a better forward
group.
They've got two superstars.
And the antics.
I don't think the antics are the reason he's playing poorly, I guess, is my
opinion on the question.
I'd agree with that. Yeah, I don't think he's playing
poorly. Hence, man, he's pissed
off in the anthics, sir.
He was a nice little
bit of dark arts last night. He draws
that penalty. It looks, everyone's like,
oh, you look at this, going to the net, you can't
do that, you're tripping the goalie. He puts
his foot right out there.
Insid against contacts, Nicky little move.
Didn't win the game, but
more comments, Jack, we need
other free agents. We've got our guest.
Oh, shoot. Well, there we're here.
Okay. Let's get to it. We do it for Crystal Waters.
Man, it's air conditioning season. It's coming. It's going to be hot.
You're going to be miserable. Right now is your chance.
10% off air conditioner.
Brand new and a year of preventative maintenance.
That's all from Crystal Waters plumbing and heating.
It's your crystal clear choice for all plumbing, heating, and cooling services.
It's getting hot. That means it's time to call Crystal Waters.
403-219, 4100 or go to Crystal Clear Calgary.com.
The star of the drinky show, he's also got some other things he does.
He's grooming future NHLers on spring hockey teams.
It's Jay Rosell by checking in from old.
Sir, how are you?
What's up, boys?
Hate to ruin the party.
I don't know what you're talking about for hours on end on your show,
but you're going to divert over to me, I guess, man.
I'm doing all right.
I'm doing all right.
I'm in the thick of things over here in the playoffs.
But it's normal leaf stuff happening, man.
So two questions.
Number one, we saw you in.
Toronto at the Greta.
Just living the Leafs Nation life.
Bathing in postseason play.
Soaking it up.
A series win even.
And then I see
Canadian Psycho, Nick Alberga, down in Florida,
and you're not with him. What the hell's going on here?
You didn't take the free trip to Florida?
You're already out in Toronto.
I know.
Like I said, man, like you said, I'm trying to mold young
NHL superstars. It's not going well.
And I don't know what I'm doing.
But the rest of life calls.
I wish I could be on your program where you just gallivant around anywhere and have no schedule.
And this show is your life.
I wish, I wish.
But they can get to the third round, man.
We might put some miles on in that big smoke city.
So how do you like rally?
Oh, I love it.
Carolina's two of my favorite states, man.
That'd be nice.
Or was it just sort of me?
We never stayed.
Spent any time.
No, quick.
Yeah, like when I played there, I was like, well, I don't really get to see it.
You stay at the Umstead Spa, which is very nice, but you're kind of in the middle of nowhere.
And you don't, that's not why I like it.
I've gone there and played golf and been there with my brother.
And I like the people mentality.
I like those states a lot.
Any fights in the stands this weekend?
Were you at that Lethbridge thing?
Were you, were you hockeying in Lethbridge or not?
I was hockeying in Lethbridge heavy with the young men's.
No dramatics there.
But on the other side of things, my kid in lacrosse, parents kicked out of the stadium.
Coach kicked out, suspended for two games,
and they still pulled off a golden medal win.
So there was some fireworks.
I wish I could at least witnessed, maybe taking part in.
La Crosse is good for that.
There's some heavy activity in the stands, always.
Even the seven-year-olds are you getting laid out?
Like, there's no.
And then the, yeah, get a word.
That's my son.
Stop it.
I do like it.
I do like it.
You got an extra off day in the series, Florida and Toronto at 2.0.
tired. Everyone was feeling so good in Leaseland, I'm sure, but cats don't go away.
The rats, the cats, whatever you want to call them, it's, you knew they weren't in trouble
until they lost at home. And sure enough, they'd take care of business winning two in a row
in Florida. I would have thought the story would have been, yeah, you know what? You lose,
still ours. That's just going to have, but Wol's been fine. Yeah, like, especially on Sunday,
a game four, Wool gave you a chance to win. I mean, they were somewhat in that game,
at least on the scoreboard, thanks to Joseph Wall. But
Game four, the cats played, they just gave a master class in playoff hockey.
There was no time and space whatsoever.
Every guy was pulling in the same direction.
They were totally committed to playing a certain style and they executed it perfectly and gave the Leafs next to nothing.
But the Leafs are a good team and they did get a few chances.
They were few and far between and they were, they really had to work for them, but they didn't bury on them.
And that was the difference maker.
on on Friday though in game three i mean they there was a dream start they scored really early they
got up two goals um they they relinquished that lead but they got another two goal lead later in the
game um and it came down to overtime and got this weird bounce from marshan of all people that
went off morgan riley um you look back at that one and it haunts you because that was the game
where joseph wool you know could have played like he did in game four uh he didn't and he had
an absolute squeaker let in from just inside of the blue line, which, I mean, that's going to
haunt Leafs fans forever if the series doesn't go the way they're hoping.
We always felt this was going to be a long series, especially when Leefs went early.
Like, I don't think anyone thought it was short.
It just feels like it's a Leafs way.
It's going to be six or seven.
They're going to be these huge stress games.
But it does feel like this group's a little better equipped to deal with them.
Maybe it's just a decade of doing it, or maybe it's a bit of a change in the DNA with some of the
guys they brought in the coach.
but when you see Florida win two and turn this into a best of three,
is it like, oh, shoot, here we go, leaps are cooked?
Or you're like, no, this is kind of what we expected.
A little bit of both, like the ghosts of playoff paths were there.
Just seeing the Mariners of the world and the Matthews of the world just completely irrelevant.
Like, Mitch didn't get a shot on net the last two games.
Like you go down to Florida, not one.
It's like, come on, guy.
Like, I've already made my mind up on Mitch Marner.
But this team's good enough to win if those.
guys aren't themselves. Austin Matthews is a shell of himself, whether he's injured or not.
The fact of the matter is he's not a big factor in this series. And you'd think they wouldn't
have any hope in the past and they haven't if those guys aren't going. But they're not really
going. Mitch has been decent so far sometimes in the past, but not the last two games that they
lost. You got the Matthew Nises the world. And Neelander has stepped up in our dear, unbelievable.
And we got goal tending depth. Craig Brubay's got them committed to a style of play that is more like
the Florida Panthers.
I stroke the Florida Panthers all year long.
I think they're the best team in hockey.
They are the definition of playoff success,
and they've all bought into it.
They've got dogs on top of dogs, on top of dogs.
And, you know, if Mitch Mariner and Austin Matthews don't become dogs miraculously,
somehow this team still seems to be good enough and be able to get it done.
So it's no small task, like you said.
No one thought it was going to be easy.
Maybe some idiots did when they went up to nothing
and thought it was going to be like that the whole time.
time but like the cats found their game and it's going to be a it's going to be a war i thought they
had them when it was game three over the weekend they got up in game three i was like that's the one
it's like that would have been incredible to go up three nothing on them and you know you had to
split down in florida right you you're still in complete driver's seat if you split down there i mean
i don't think anyone realistically thought they're going to sweep them but you could have pulled off that
friday game three and then it would have been maybe a scheduled loss on sunday fine but you're going
home up three one it's a totally different story and
they were so damn close.
But I think that the one thing that people don't forget,
and everyone in Leifes Nation melts down as soon as they get a semblance of the past,
right?
Because there's so much scar tissue,
but it is 2-2 going home.
And as bad as that game looked on Sunday,
it wasn't even that the Leifes lost the game as much as it was,
the Panthers won it,
but they were still in,
it was a one-goal game.
Right.
Chances you had a Nealinder breakway,
you had Nyes kind of almost open net backhand where Bobber wasn't in a position
to score.
Two shifts later he gets a full.
on breakaway. They're missing nets
and stuff. You've got to capitalize on those chances.
It's going to come down
to the wire. I think you're right. But
God, it's got to be the Leafs time. And if they get
by the Panthers, man, I think the doors
just booted open for them, you know,
to win a cup. I was going to ask
the best game in hockey. I was going to ask you,
like the path through, if you can get by the Panthers
who I agree, well, they've played
the way champions
play the last couple years. They're good.
So if you beat them, it's
looking like Carolina. Is that a
matchup the Leafs lick their chops at or is that a I don't think you're licking your chops at anyone I mean they're going to knock off you know one of the better teams this year potentially I mean that series not over but I haven't watched a ton of Carolina hockey but there's nobody that is the Florida Panthers they are well coached they have Vesna winning caliber uh uh goaltending their defensemen or like just look at you got Ekblad you got to chuck you got Marshawn you got Bennett you got Reinhart and you've got experience you've already been down here you know
it takes, you know what it looks like, you know what it feels like. They're unbelievable.
And the fact that the Leafs had them down to Cobb and we're looking like they could go up
three says a lot about the Leafs. Now you're in a dog fight. But again, if they get by them,
I don't think there's a team like they're not going to take the next round, you know,
the Eastern Conference final lightly if we can get there. But I mean, you've already
summited the Mountain if you get by the Panthers, in my opinion.
Jay Rosell from Leif's Morning Take joining us,
the Alberta product.
You said you made your mind up on Mitch
Marner. We were kind of dancing through
some free agency. There was a story on Daily Faceoff
today about the Flames, big game hunting. It's not about the flames,
but you said you made your mind up on Marner. What's your mind
made up on and what is the position you hold?
Well, I don't think there's ever been a bigger
disparity between the regular season
and the playoffs as there is now. Like the league's
quite soft compared to how it was 15 years ago. That's no secret.
But in the playoffs, it's the dogs that show up.
It's the playoff mentality. Who can
do those dark arts who can play through more who can forecheck harder who can take those hits who can
get involved and like elevate their game when it's difficult and my knock on mariner has always been
like yeah you're fancy as hell and you can go through your legs and you can backhand sauce it with
the best of them you're super talented no one's questioning that but when the going gets tough
and you need those dogs that I mentioned that are on florida to elevate and get you over the hump
and be the one that's making it difficult he goes away he just goes he hasn't got a shot on the
net in two games. And he's done other things that are great, but it's always like he's
doing all these things that are great until it gets tough and then he's gone. And, you know,
they've got too many pieces in place right now with what tree living's done, where Barubei's
taking this team. They've already wasted nine years. Like this isn't a hot take of me going,
wow, that's a lot. Like this, we see this every single time. It's proven. And if they resign him for,
I don't even know, I don't even care what it is, like that's the definition of insanity doing the
same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. We know what this guy is.
He's not a dog. And I'm sorry to say it, but that's the reality of this situation that he's put
himself in by fading and becoming a ghost every time the going gets tough. They can win without
them in your opinion right now. They're good enough? Like a guy like Matthew Nyes, like he steps up,
Nealander's still there. I mean, John Tavares, he can play in these games. He's older and he's not
that fast. But, you know, you get in those down low puck battles where you got to use your body and you've got to
spin off a guy and you got to be digging and mucking and you look and you see something opened up or
that d man just closed on me too and he can use his body spin off and center and make those plays
Mitch needs time and he needs space and he needs to do the loop de up out there and la dee da and when
the panthers are playing their hockey he he can't do it i'm just yeah i'm just curious like i'm
thinking about marner in the future in Toronto and what do they do because you're right like
they need it i feel like he needs to contribute a little bit
if they're going to win or go to the Stanley Cup finals this year.
And then you're in the situation while we got the finals,
how do we walk away from this guy?
I know.
It's an anomaly and they've been there for a while with like,
how do you walk away with this guy who does XYZ and does the things that he does?
He is a special player in many aspects.
But it's that last finishing thing that they need to get over the hump,
the Maple Leafs, and that is like no one cares that they had a 116 point season
or that they win the Atlantic or any of that stuff.
Like it doesn't matter.
It's only playoff success in that.
that city and he has done everything but but that and it's like i think everyone realizes to a degree
that he is very good but like he's not the one that's going to get us over this hump and it is
if they lose this series that will be the talk of the town him and matthews like you're our top
dogs you get paid you want this and you want that and you're like everyone else who goes deep in the
playoffs has their big dogs step up and elevate their game and they're doing the opposite like it's
it's just people have had enough but i crazily
enough the you know their depth um the other guys that they do have like there's the games where those
guys are kind of ghost matthews has been a ghost all like all all series long you know he's doing
other things which is great but people are like trying to say oh he's reinvented himself you don't take
a rocket richard winner and turn him into a decent third liner walking shots and winning faceoffs and
say that's what he meant to do he's a shell of himself right now and um despite that though they're
still in the series and and they've been in control for a lot of it so we'll see what happens
Yeah, and see, I agree with a lot of that.
I thought the Four Nations things probably helped Mitch a bit.
I think he's talked a lot about being around Sid and seeing the calm and the poise.
And we saw Mitch having tantrums on the bench last year this time of year, less of that.
And to be fair, it's the best of three.
If those two guys want to put together a couple of games here,
you've kind of rewritten stuff a bit.
Now, that doesn't mean you have to resign this guy, but I don't know.
It's a weird spot to be in because I think they like Mitch.
I think they love Mitch.
And when you're paying what he's going to be asking for,
you probably got to love a guy.
Look what Rantin's doing.
Look what Dry Sattel and McDavid are doing.
Look what Barkov gives the Florida Panthers.
Like if you're going to make that kind of money,
you've got to be a money player.
Yeah, for sure.
And I mean, there's no guarantees that if you let him walk.
I mean, that hurts to let him walk for nothing if that is the case.
There's no guarantees you're going to go shopping on July 1 and, like,
fix all your problems.
And it's very likely that he'll go off somewhere else and have a bunch of success.
And all the lovers of Mitch will say,
see look what we let but i mean this is the ninth year with this group and it's the same story all
the time when when the rubber hits the road and it's that he doesn't really have that dog in him i he's
not pinder at at the the pond hockey tournament where it is pinned his hinders stanley cup this is
mitch's stanley cup and he never elevates um people are getting tired of it and again you've got to
commit a massive amount then you're literally just doing the same thing and you have the same team
and you don't have enough cap space to work around and get the guys that you need um
I just, I'm sorry, I can't watch it anymore.
And so a lot of people are on that as well.
He has been better since Four Nations.
He was good in the first round.
He's done some good things.
I'm not, he's not terrible by any stretch.
But it's like, do you commit that money to him knowing what you know and what have you seen?
And there has been one constant.
And it's when you play a team that you have to beat to get to the Stanley Cup, which is like the Florida Panthers.
He's not capable.
He's not.
It's not the type of player he is.
and he has success in the regular season because that's regular season hockey.
He doesn't in the playoffs because that's playoff hockey.
And he's one guy who's just proven time and time again.
He's not suited for the playoffs so far.
I mean, it's up for grabs.
There's a game on Wednesday.
Do you want to change that Mitch?
Let's go.
I'm all about it.
And I'll change my tune to a degree as well if he wants to try to do that.
But he's going to kind of have to reinvent his game almost and do things he's never been willing to do
if he's going to get over that hump and be the guy that rise.
above, especially against the Panthers.
One of the things Trill Living always talked about, you talk about,
you've mentioned it already. It's just how different
playoff hockey is in regular season.
And so in a regular season,
you would always take Mitch Martyr
ahead of Sam Bennett's 50 points, always.
But I think this time of year,
you look around the room and all of us would take Sam Bennett
over Mitch Marner.
100%. Look at those guys down there.
It's a perfect description of how different
the styles are. And when you get into seven-game
war, well, that might be
the exact scenario.
Maybe.
Yeah, because Sam's a free agent.
The other thing, too, is like,
I don't know if you're hearing much in Toronto about it,
but like Matthew Nyes is going to be a very, very juicy offer sheet target.
If the Leafs just get him locked in at 8, 9,
and get that sorted away, let Mitch go and now see if they've got enough left for Sam Bennett.
I mean, you're sort of telling me Matthew Nyes is a more important piece in the postseason.
In the regular season, he's naughty at a good year.
But everyone would give up.
that in the playoffs.
Stupid regular season first place for
for a deep run.
Of course you are,
especially in Toronto because you've had the 100
point seasons every GD year and it's led to nothing.
Yeah,
and it's because you have the guys like Mitch who are,
no one cares about his hundred points.
He's only done that once in his career,
by the way,
but that's fine and dandy.
But then you have to totally flip a switch
and it's like game,
you know,
seven games against these teams that come up
that do well and have success in the playoffs,
which the template right now is the Florida
Pant.
there's that doesn't get you anywhere.
Like the stuff that works in the regular season doesn't work now.
And if you look at, you know, the impact that Bennett has made in this series,
it's just,
it's astronomical compared to Mitch.
And you look at Matthew Nyes and like this kid is a workhorse.
He embodies what it takes to have success in the playoffs.
The physicality, the forecheck, the big body, the turning puck's over and just he's,
and then he's got the skill to finish when he gets opportunities.
He's a horse.
yeah, he's not getting to any offer sheet opportunities.
He's not going to make it to July 1.
I think he wants to be here and they're going to lock him up.
And it's whether it's a bridge deal or more or whatever, he's going to be locked.
Sure, I'd give the guy, like, look at where the cap's going, where the league's going and all the rest of it.
Even if he signs like a five year deal on the third year of that deal, you're going to go, oh, my God, we got to make hay with this kid while we got him at this number.
Because, I mean, his ceiling is through the roof.
You've got to surround, you got to build around that kind of thing.
And, like, Nealander tends to step up when the going gets tough.
He's scored big goals.
He's been big in the playoffs before.
Like, there's kind of your franchise.
And I don't know what's going on with Austin Matthews.
Is he hurt?
Is he what?
But I wish he had more of that dog in him, too.
He tends to kind of just be the look on his face and his body language is just kind of like,
and I want someone that gets pissed off and says, get on my back.
We're going to war.
I haven't seen that out of him either.
And he's taking some heat for it lately.
We had our first fight in the postseason last night.
Yes.
Midway through round two.
I want you to let's just sit back and let Uncle Jay walk us through what's going on.
Turn good guys.
Nobody gets hurt.
Whatever the Don Cherryism is.
Let's go to Edmonton.
Frederick want to fight?
Trent Frederick and Nick Haig, large humans.
Head down.
Jay jump right at here.
Two hands, like holding on with two there, he gets it going a little bit.
But when you're getting fed, I mean, holding on with two hands, they ain't doing anything.
And burying your head ain't doing anything either.
You got to stand up tall, tuck your chin, hide behind your visor if you want,
and get one hand free and start throwing.
He did for a second there.
That's the only time in here you go.
Only time he's in the fight is when he's not holding it.
Like, why are you grabbing his hand?
Why are you grabbing with your right hand right now?
That drives me nuts.
And it just, he's just like, okay, now you're not throwing any punches at me.
I guess I'll go on the offense and away it goes.
But the bottom line is he showed up.
Tensions got high.
Things escalated.
The gloves came off, which I'm shocked they don't more in the playoffs with the stuff that
happens.
I've never understood that.
Why? Just because it's the playoffs, do you not scrap?
It's the most important time you can momentum is worth everything.
If you can get a guy to drop them with you, why don't they do that more often?
It blows my mind.
Look, we did a podcast for two years, J&I, Department of Discipline.
And if I got a nickel for every time, you said, don't lower your head.
Like, you're just, at the moment you duck your head, you're losing the fight.
It's like 95% of the time.
I can think of one time I did it in junior.
I wasn't really much of a fighter yet or know what was going on in this big,
tough guy named Wenzel and the Alberta Junior Hockey League.
He played for Brooks.
I put my head down and he was just feeding me upies and I kept thinking,
oh, I can get myself back in this.
I can get myself back in this.
Meanwhile, I ate about seven.
The whole side of my face was swollen.
It was a disaster.
And I realized like, that's not a position to be in ever.
And as I started scrapping more, if anyone put their head down,
you're just laughing.
You're like, okay, relinquish complete control to me to do whatever I want.
But I think that's just the natural human reaction when you're,
when you're scared and you're trying to.
to protect yourself you duck and go into a
little ball but it doesn't do you much on
on an ice hockey fight does it
are we uh
are we seeing a team
to the north
play uh real good hockey
right now
because coilers
because they shit pumped
Vegas last night don't like this Jay
they ran them out of the
I don't even like to say it I don't like
discussing it I don't want to do it
they were very
Florida Panthers last night.
They skated. They hit the
piss out of Vegas. Vegas
looks scared and the
Oilers completely
in control. They physically impose their
will. 100%.
And for 60 minutes, you're just in control.
You relinquish nothing. It's like a master
class. And yeah, that is like Florida
Panthers on Sunday. I was
hard on the Oilers all year long.
I'm like, they are a hot mess
of all these contracts
and nurse and what is up with Bushard? And
You're really riding in here again.
And it's just a nightmare.
I'm like, why are, why are they so favored still in the playoffs?
I was totally hard on them.
And I don't know what the future holds.
But when they put it together, they have got a lot going for them.
And they seem to have, they're like this, they're not rag tag group.
Nobody with McDavid and Drysidler rag tag.
But they got this group that's kind of like just a hot mess of like, what are you guys doing?
And then they all put it together at some points in time.
And they happen to do it when it matters.
Um, hats off to them.
I don't hate them the way you guys do.
Um, hey, good Alberta teams, I'm fine with it.
But God, they're, they're, they're, they're, if, if nothing else, they are absolutely
incredibly exciting to watch.
I just want to get this out there because I'm seeing some stuff online and talk to you.
We're just unbiased, uh, hockey fans, journalists, pros.
I literally, I literally, yeah, I literally don't really.
I don't know why you live in Alberta and, and just like, say you live in red deer and you
hate the flame.
but you just love it's like why like if if one of them is not in it wouldn't that be your second
choice i don't get it my brother cheers for the oilers i can never do it so it's john it's can't
it's fun that way though you create the rivalries and get the group chats chirping off it's uh
but you're gonna find yourself in positions like this where the flames are like what are we talking
about right now meanwhile your your rivals and your your hated franchise is is on a run it's that's
tough too. What did uh, speaking of brothers, big brother to J-Rose. So what did he say after you ducked your head
in eight, seven against Wenzel? Oh, good question. I think he went after there. Guys, we kind of
switch it a bit. I'm trying to remember. I think he just thought like, why, why are you doing that? But I went
after him again later on and had a better scrap. So maybe I was trying to get the respect of guys like
my big brother that I was, uh, following in the coattails of. Uh, looks. Uh, looks.
like we're going to get hayskinned back for the stars
potentially tonight. That's huge news for
Dallas. Last call for Winnipeg here.
I've been kind of, I don't understand
the hell of buck in the playoffs thing. It's the same puck.
It's the same size net. It's the same decor in front of you.
Sure, things are a little different, but
he looks like a guy in the playoffs and he's far and away the best
goalie in the regular season. Like, isn't that wild?
It's to be, like we're talking
heart trophy consideration.
Bezziasna is a lot of top.
Like you are a goalie. Look at his
look at his record in those losses
and his numbers it's like 6.6.6
7 goals like that's like what is this
a fucking is this lacrosse?
And then his safe percentage is like in the
sevens or so like what are we doing?
Do you're the best in the world?
It's upstairs 100%.
It's between the years.
I don't think anyone in the league could benefit
more than from a sports psychologist than that guy.
Whether he's seeing one or not, I don't know.
But that's a mental thing to me.
Like you say,
It's a four by six net.
It's a rubber puck.
Like, just you know how to play it.
Obviously, you're one of the best in the world.
But I really think that when the Jets were on the run that they were on through the regular season,
just what a phenomenal 82 games they put together.
But no one would give them their flowers or no one was willing to step up and say they're the team to beat.
And I think it's because of his record in the playoffs.
And it did not start well.
And I know he ripped off a shutout there recently, but he's going on the road again.
And we will see where that's at.
I think it all obviously hinders on him.
If he's not good, they don't have a chance.
Carolina is annoying, but I think they're kind of built for this thing.
I know, look, if we get four teams left, they're all good.
I don't think there's any frauds left,
especially if Dallas and Edmonton and Carolina
and whoever wins that other series is through.
Like, there's nothing easy.
But the way Carolina does it, it's kind of a template you've seen before.
It's a great goaltending.
It's incredible team structure.
It's a deep, deep team.
They don't allow you to get chances with any ease at all.
And they work their tails off.
Like, they're not fun to watch, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if that's the team coming
out of the east.
Yeah, and I think Brendan Moore at the helm, he kind of knows what he, his experience level,
he knows what it looks like.
And he's doing pretty good at getting those guys to buy in.
That's what it's all about.
Like the Panthers last game, you just have everyone buying in.
And Paul Maurice has done very well with that group on getting them to understand, like,
this is what it looks like.
And yeah, it's uncomfortable.
Yeah, yeah, your legs are going to burn.
Yeah, it's going to hurt.
And yeah, that might not be the way you've played.
your whole life. But do you want to win a cup or not? And that's the same thing in Carolina,
when they're deep and you can roll the lines and everyone's doing the same thing and you overwhelm
your opponent and they get frustrated and they start to reinvent, you know, their game plan because
it's not going well. Then everything just goes to shit and you just rip off a 60 minutes and say
thanks for coming. That's what you have to do in the playoffs. And yeah, they're pretty good at that.
And that is the most boring series and the one that people care about least, I'm sure. But again,
like you say, nobody that's going to be left over in the final four is going to be any slouch.
Okay, we're doing a full-on comment-palooza today.
Anyone on the YouTube comments have Leif's questions for Jay Rose.
Here's Grant weighing in.
What's your thoughts if you lose three of the core five this off season?
I don't sure about the core five, but I think it would be what,
Marner, Tavares, who else would be gone?
Nise.
So, yeah, Tavares, they were talking about like four and a half, five.
Does that get him done?
I mean, he was pushing 40 goals this year.
Um, character, leadership.
He, he's fantastic.
And he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he's, he, he's, he's, he's, he's,
he bumps him up to like eight, nine million bucks.
It's, it's, it's tough to know what he's going to get if he want, and I think he wants to
be in Toronto, right?
Um, I know he's kind of side note, he's got like some tax issues and stuff in the past.
I don't know how much he's willing to take a big old hometown discount. Um, but he's someone
that I think people would like to have him back.
He could be such a good depth piece, uh, you know, for the next couple of years.
he's 34. It's not like he's 37.
Nize isn't going anywhere.
They will bend over backwards to lock him up
and whatever the number is will be totally fine.
The longer, the better if you ask me.
And Martiner's the big question.
Nealander's locked up and Matthews is locked up.
So I just can't help but think they're just going to be too far apart
and tree is just going to be going,
we're just not at a position to commit that much money to the man.
We like him, blah, blah, blah.
And then he's going to go, well, look at all the comparables, blah, blah,
and they're going to say, well, did he do what ratting and did?
And they're just never going to come together and shape.
shake hands and he's going to walk. That's my prediction and that's kind of what I hope happens.
I don't, I don't have any personal against him, but just what I've seen, you need this team to
have some kind of a dog to get you over the hump and he's not that guy. Honestly, if you think
about it, I think Tree would rather pay Bennett 9 a year than he would pay Martyr 14. And maybe both
those numbers are high, but I just think this time a year. Well, look what Bennett's doing.
Look at his track record. Look at how well he can elevate his game and get into the fight and drag
his team, you know, to where they need to go.
That's not, Mitch does the opposite.
He does things that are personal accolades and gets his little trophies and stuff.
And he's on the posters and is signed by fucking, you know, Cheerios.
And that's great.
He's marketable and he's a fresh face little kid.
I don't care.
When the going gets tough, I want that guy that is going to go to war with you.
And he's proven time and time and time again, that's not him.
And that's all you need to know if you ask me.
Yeah.
Any other leafers in the chat, Jack?
Will Trill Living drop the balls?
Oh, geez.
Magic 14.
Come on.
What they ask?
It's asking, is Trillivian going to drop the ball this off season?
Which is a weird question, but it is Calgary.
There's some history here.
Have you liked the job he's done?
And do you see him making a mistake this?
I think he's done an unbelievable job.
He saw the team's weaknesses and their shortcomings,
and he rectified them quickly, our back end.
I don't think anyone gives them enough props on, like with Tanev and McCabe and OEL and
Carlo and Ben Waz, like a number six guy who's just all.
all the whole time.
And like, honestly, the straggler at times is Morgan Riley.
And he's like an all-star.
So they're super deep back there.
He got Stolars.
I don't know if he saw some other people's people didn't or if that was just a luck of
the draw type of thing.
And then he brought in some other depth pieces that, you know,
are more suited for the playoffs.
And I think that's why they're having success this year.
He's just been handcuffed with some of the no trade clauses that have been put out there.
I think he wanted to make a move to get ranting in,
which can you imagine what that would look like right now?
again, Mitch Marner blocked that.
There's just so many reasons that there's a flashlight, Sean,
right on the problem here.
And if it gets rectified or not, but I mean,
if Bennett's willing to come here and if he's worth $9 million,
I don't think you could get him to sign that fast enough if you were tree living.
We good?
Yeah, we're good.
Jay, thank you.
Appreciate it.
Good luck grooming those future NHLers.
Make sure you teach him playoff hockey, eh?
Oh, I don't know.
Keep your head up.
Don't drop your head in the scrap.
You got to wait till they hit puberty.
That testosterone's got to flow through them.
That's how you really know.
That's why I can't invest myself too much.
These are children.
Let them be children.
Wait till they're men and see what they got under the hood.
Godspeed, brother.
Be well.
Thanks, boys.
See you soon.
Good luck.
Good luck.
See you.
There is Jay Rose Hill from Leafs morning take.
You can catch them on our sister show out in Toronto.
Who's sister?
The nation.
Our sister.
Oh.
You know, like sister cities?
you got a sister?
Easy.
I do have a sister.
Really?
Saddle down.
Jack, how's your sis?
I don't know, Ryan.
You getting along okay or?
Let's do the read.

I say Mitch Marner is not a
J. Rose Hill type player.
Well, if you lived there, you'd be.
I get it. I get it. I totally get it.
And you know what? Like it was,
it's not entirely different of the Johnny story here.
Because they're incredibly high skill players,
but the game gets way harder for them, especially
when it gets to spring.
Johnny didn't not have a single story. Yeah.
The size doesn't help and just the style is different.
And the roughing is different.
Yeah.
And your speed pace, your time and space is limited.
It's a willingness to take pain and,
and punishment.
Like that,
that's a big ingredient this time of year.
Anthra's not the most skilled team at them.
Really?
They just got the guys that want it the most, right?
Ogs, everyone's talking about dogs.
Yeah.

Some writing going on.
What's going on with the flames prospects?
Well, one already through to the Memorial Cup.
Oh.
As we know, Ramoski.
Is it Ramoski?
I think Ramoski.
Hosting.
That was not Rumsky?
What the hell is it?
When again?
Etienne Moran's team is through to the Memorial Cup because they're playing
Ramouski and Ramoski's hosting.
That's what it is.
Also, Andrew Bashar returned.
There's some notes on his excellent return after not playing since December.
Set up a goal, what, opening show?
two games in a row.
Sam.
Hanso.
Hey, be a guy.
Be all right if you were a player.
You don't have to be a superstar.
Come in here and be a good middle six player.
Let's go.
Don't play center.
That would help too.
Really helpful.
Scored yesterday for Slovakia.
God,
it's almost hard to imagine how,
like we ripped him.
Then he played really well,
made the team on a camp,
and then never heard his name again.
Yeah, and he got hurt again,
a thing like him and zary all of a sudden you're like boy love a good healthy season and it's uh you
know that's not their fault they're not trying to get hurt i don't think so that writer's his real name
samuel sam sidrian adrian kiss mr kiss hey it's uh it's kiss cullen what's up
good reading there as well flames nation they find all these writers a lot of writers it's
RET's AI personalities.
He's just collected money.
It's all RET's AI.
Master plan.
Last night got some results.
Apparently there was some hockey last night.
Now, you were riveted to a live stream of this early game.
Carolina, Washington last night.
Jack, tell Rhett what you were watching.
It was our boy, Heat Daddy.
And he had a special live stream watch along for the game.
He's pumping it up.
He's like, join me on my live stream.
Join me in my live stream.
He's a hockey personality on Twitter.
Oh, very funny.
And he just slept the entire game.
Literally had an eye mask on.
And for three hours, there was a live shoot
of him sleeping.
Which kind of works for this series.
The team we thought was going to win was going to win.
Yeah, but why did we think that team was going to win?
Washington was again,
president's trophy.
Yeah, but it's just really frauds.
They're frauds.
It's the president's curse in a way.
Just went in the east and first time.
I don't know.
Carolina's just been in control the entire postseason.
Whatever.
It's over.
Sorry, wash.
It's very wash.
The other one, a shutout for Stuart.
Carry on.
Next.
Oilers fans, uh, we'll close the show with you later.
We'll get to that.
Let's go to Pete Blackburn.
Another noted Twitter personality.
Uh, going Oilers, Golden Knights after Kane's caps is like going to the strip club right from
your nephew's baptism.
It's a hell of a double up, Rhett.
Yeah.
Jumping in the fast lane after.
driving into school zone zoom zoom zoom fights goals pushing and shoving i felt like it was almost
i don't want to say biased whatever it's like oh this is so intense what a great period and what a
great game well if you love the oilers it was if you're a golden nights fan you got your asses handed
to you yeah it wasn't boring i think that's more to this but you're right the oilers did
dominate most of that game last night i was hoping for a little more push from
Vegas. It looked real good in game three. Didn't happen.
Cains haven't lost at home yet.
That's not bad.
Seven in a row, they started their 20-22 postseason with at home.
This year, they're up to five.
That they beat in the first round? I don't even remember.
Yeah, they didn't exist. It was the New Jersey Markstrom's.
He was good and everyone else was injured.
What a cushy.
Soft path.
A Washington team that is.
But why is Washington shouldn't be?
I just think it's a lot of guys first playoff.
Like it's not for Ovi and Carlson, but a lot of that crew, it's their first cut at it.
Yeah.
The protuses, the McMichaels, the, you know, they're a good team, but I don't think any of us in the regular season are like, oh, yeah, caps are winning it this year.
They're like, no, they're good, but Carolina's been the second round, seven years in a row.
They've been here before.
We showed you the Oilers and Vegas fight.
Here's a different angle.
This is why people were so fired up.
This is the strip club from the baptism because he's got feisty early.
He's a different angle.
All the cousins up there are fired up.
That was a lively barn last thing.
And Vegas, I'll tell you what.
They got pushed around most of the night.
They won this fight.
We didn't win the fight.
They won the fight.
Lost the war.
Tonight, just one game.
We told you there's an off day between Leafs and Panthers, an extra off day.
Josh Morrissey's returned.
And guess who else is returning?
tonight. Chuck Norris.
Chuck Norris is suited. No, Miro Hayskidin is
suiting up for the Dallas Stars. What position
would Chuck play? Whatever he wants.
That's a good answer. Yeah, it's a true question. He didn't fall for it.
What position did Chuck Norris play?
All of them, for sure. Hayskinan
skated this morning. Looks like he'll be back. John Bartlett's
doing the play-by-play on this series. So he would know.
They might run 7D.
Okay.
hate 70.
Yeah, and is he healthy or not?
Because you're up to 1 here.
That's what I wondered.
It's like if he's good to go,
you should probably go 12 and 6, right?
Toronto goalies.
We've got a little update there.
We know Anthony Stollars.
Let's look at the odds first tonight
because Dallas has been in control.
But, yeah, they're still favorite.
Yes, they are.
Okay.
I haven't liked the Jets game for,
round one or round two.
So they're hanging in.
Yeah, they've shown some moxie,
but they haven't been the better team, have they?
Not really.
No.
Toronto's got goaltending news.
Anthony Stollars is back on the ice this morning with the crew.
And a drag's saying,
look,
he's been on the ice before.
You just didn't go to Florida.
And Wohl was good in game for.
Maybe do,
what do you do with the guy coming off a head injury who hasn't played for a week?
Well, you don't take Joe Wall
after his last game is what you don't do.
Yeah, I think that's what Dregs is leading to here,
leading us to.
Nice that he's probably close to being ready,
but you wait till Wall loses one.
I've still stunned that it got that far that he was that injured.
Yeah, again, brain injuries.
We don't know a lot.
Except that one day you were.
One day you were at the hotel,
you didn't know what city you were in.
How many days later?
Can't remember.
Brain injury.
Okay.
we talked a lot about offer sheets.
This is very nerdy stuff.
Actually, first, yeah, here we go.
So this is the offer sheet compensation.
Hey, offer sheet, nice, offer sheet, nize.
I think you got to make it over 9.3 to make it difficult for the lease here.
Or maybe the move is to go just right under 9.5.
I'm not.
Maybe I'm underestimating where the market is and what nize is.
But my God, that sounds like a lot of money.
Yeah, well, and the cap's going up about 10 a year.
Which then, yeah.
We've been living in this cap universe where it's been flat for what feels like a decade.
COVID's a big part of it.
They got a new couple TV deals.
Like what is a nice age numbers like nine and a half?
He's a 230 pound power for that you could probably put down for 30 a year.
So, you know, it's not a lot of those guys, right?
That's the dog this time of year.
Nine and a half.
And again, these will not be 2025 first rounders because you can't off-sheet until beyond the draft in July.
These are your McKenna and DuPont draft classes.
You're talking about your next two firsts.
What's what I'd been doing?
What's the most someone's ever been off-sheeted?
Joe's second.
Like in terms of the compensation?
Yeah, just like, because I recall the flames on O'Reilly would have been a monster one.
That was going to be like four first or something crazy.
Shee Weber had a monster one.
It was a 13-year deal.
He can't do that anymore.
He's still on payroll somewhere.
I think.
I think of Weber was huge.
Rain, was it?
No, Philly offered it to.
Yeah, Philly.
National matched.
It was during a lockout year.
Nashville was seen to be as a poor franchise at that point.
They matched tournament of P.K. Saban.
Didn't go well.
That's keep moving.
Didn't Ajo get offered she did once?
Yeah, it was like an 80-year.
Carolina immediately matched.
That was in response
what Coquine Emmy came right after that.
They got him. That didn't go well.
In terms of the big, like four first rounders, not many.
I think the O'Reilly one with the flames would have been
one of those bottom two thresholds, which is a lot of first.
That really could have screwed you.
Getting him.
Get them and get with a first.
Geez, yeah.
That could have been an epic disaster.
Tip of the cap to those people that did that.
They don't work there anymore.
That's the good news, flame stance.
J.T. Miller, what's he up to?
Just singing and dancing and having fun.
Birdie juice, baby.
Oh.
He's trying to qualify for the U.S. Open.
How cool is this?
I don't think it's cool at all.
Look, he's done.
The Rangers miss, not his fault.
He's like, why, let's try to make the U.S. open.
Focus on, I don't know.
If it was one of your players, you'd be like.
It's May.
When did you step on the ice?
how about you should be fucking playing.
But now that he's not.
I don't know.
Anyway, a two over, not bad through nine.
Pretty good round.
Yeah, I wish I could do that.
Doesn't have the birded you so yet.
I lied.
A lot of pars there, J.T.
It's all right.
Do you think he's got EP40 on the bag,
Elias Pedersen?
No, I don't.
Okay.
I don't think so at all.
Oh, really?
No.
Weird.
We had a fight in Florida.
He just showed the fight.
No.
Because this one was in the stands.
Now this is some Edmonton action right here,
although it is different fan bases, at least here.
Look at this.
Leifes guys, we got our shorts,
we got her kicks.
We're going down to FLA.
We're going to watch the Leafs.
It's going to be so fun until Johnny Miami steroids comes in and says,
I want a piece.
Sleave Monster got him and he's ready to go.
Look at this.
Who wants some?
Who wants some?
Do so.
I ain't fight.
So what's going to happen to the guy who says I invite him?
I'll give you one guest.
Bang.
Oh,
no.
You might as well throw.
Stole the Canada flag,
threw it away.
Other guys are jumping.
Now they steal their hats,
throwing them.
What's going on in Miami,
Rhett?
I don't know.
It's for a Loderdale.
It'll lead with a kick to the Nads.
That guy's working out on the beach every day.
You don't want to scrap him.
Hat,
gone,
see you.
Jack's cheering for the Panthers here.
I can tell.
He likes this.
Where are these fans fighting?
Concourse.
Yeah.
Why or where?
Why?
Tariffs.
Tariffs.
Yeah.
It's an unstable geopolitical time, Jack.
Let's, uh, one.
It didn't look like the Leafs guys were doing a whole.
They didn't want to fight, which is probably the move when you're in a building with
17,000 people for the other team.
I did push that.
That popped like a little kid.
Now, that guy grabbed the wrong guy, it felt like.
Johnny sleeve monster.
I don't know what.
Nielander was stepping in and then saw that he was juiced up.
up and decided to,
says I'm not fighting.
They're going to throw me in El Salvador in prison if I fight.
I can't fight here.
You have to make the statement that I'm so much tougher than you.
That's,
Rick Tocket could fight,
hey?
Yeah, he could.
Remember much against playing against him,
upside from just hating the Flyers?
I avoided Rick as much as part.
Yeah, people not avoiding Rick Talkett,
the Cracken, the Bruins,
the Flyers.
So the guys who have coaching jobs?
Yeah, I just is there not a juiciers?
I don't really love any of those spots.
Maybe Philly they got Mishkov, Lucchenko, they got some young guys.
He played there.
They played there in Boston.
Boston looks like a mess.
I wouldn't want to go to Seattle feels like.
I'll take the Boston.
Fine.
I'll do it.
Right?
You're putting your name in the hat?
No.
No.
It's a lot of stress.
A lot of trouble.
Ludo's completely changed my outlook on coaching.
I don't know.
You got to go home after a loss.
So do you like sleep?
Yeah.
How's your stress level?
Good right now.
Well, it won't be if you've coached.
No, imagine your head coach, and you are stressed, and you can't go fishing.
Oh.
WHL, game three tonight, Spokane, first of three and four.
Is it on a TV today, or is it a good question?
First two were.
I don't know if they will.
Uh, if that's a very good question.
It'll be on victory plus for sure, because I know they got the rights for the postseason,
digitally.
Spokane, Tuesday,
Wednesday, Spokane Friday, rip back to the hat for a Sunday, Monday.
Who gets toit.
That's heavy.
Yeah, that's five games in seven days by my math.
You're an off day in the 15th off day and the 17th.
That's it.
Uh,
lot of hockey.
You got to want it.
Damn, right.
Speaking of what,
we're all going to pick one game here.
The NFL released their international schedule today.
All but one team have been announced.
It starts opening week of the season,
second day of the year.
We just heard yesterday the opener is going to be Philly
against Dallas on September 4th,
the Thursday opener.
Chargers in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Why have they not announced it to the other team?
I'm sure there's a good reason for it, right?
I have no idea.
Jack, why are they holding that back?
I have no idea.
They're announcing it tomorrow.
They're doing the stupid thing where they spread out the news.
Makes a lot of sense.
That's one of your options.
I like it.
I'm a Chargers guy.
Always wanted to go to Brazil, Rhett.
Lovely people.
September 5th.
What a day?
Festive people.
Hot weather, beaches.
You should go.
I'm keen to do it.
September.
Let's do it.
Here's one for Jack.
Dublin.
Vikings Steelers.
Croke Park.
That seems all right.
You like Guinness, Jack?
I don't really like Guinness.
Get into it.
It's awesome.
You'll like Guinness.
Everyone's afraid of Guinness and then they get into Guinness.
It's so good.
It's not heavy.
It's just a dark color.
Less calories.
What's the date on that?
The 28th.
September.
September 28th.
Vikings stay out there.
They play back to back in Europe.
They go to London from Dublin.
Jolio Lung.
It's not really good.
Now, if you're a Vikings fan,
are you somewhat pissed off or it's like,
so I got to go to you?
Europe to watch my team now?
I've been pretty excited to go for like eight days.
That sounds unreal.
Yeah, they play Sunday Sunday.
You could eight days, two games in Europe.
Go get it, Vikes fans.
Broncos Jets in London as well.
Rams, Jaguars in London.
Colts, Falcons in Germany, Berlin,
Red.
Don't like the teams.
I like the Berlin.
And Madrid, Spain, dolphins, commanders.
Pick a non-stealers one for us, Jack.
Steelers are your first overall pick?
What's second?
What's October 1st?
These games are that great, I'll be honest.
Again, it's, we're going to another country.
Yeah, true.
I got to pick, I got to really look at where they are.
I'm blue.
It's Brazil, boys.
Come on.
Yeah, Brazil.
Madrid?
I'd do any of them.
I'd like, yeah.
Ret, fuel up the jet.
We're going to Brazil.
Let's go.
Let's go.
Any other NFL news, or is that all we got?
wasn't Aaron Rogers going to sign today, Jack?
Has he signed?
Hasn't happened yet.
Oh, this guy, Chief Seaholic, 32 years in prison.
Damn.
Had a good run as a superfan and a bank robber.
The bank robbing part, putting them in the clink for three decades plus.
Hmm.
Isn't there a movie or story?
Yeah, there's a dock on him that's supposed to.
Have you seen it, Jack?
No, I haven't.
I bet you it's unreal.
That's a crazy story.
I'm not encouraging anyone to dress like a wolf and go to sports games and Rob Banks,
but that's a crazy story.
We're just start looking into the more people that dress up,
making sure they're on the up and up here.
That's right.
It seems to be a clear indicator.
NBA drafters last night.
Was it?
The lottery, excuse me.
Oh.
And this is the most rigged thing of all rigged things, Jack,
stretching back into what?
So rigged.
The 80s or 90s for when Patrick Ewing went to New York.
So Dallas, Dallas.
Dallas.
they moved up 10 spots.
What did they just do?
Remind us.
They traded Luca to the Lakers.
One of the best players in the world.
The biggest market.
The dumbest trade of all the time probably.
And what are they?
We're going to jump you 10 spots at 1.8%.
And they had 1.8% to do that.
And the stupid Utah is, look at that.
The winning percentage.
It's 17 wins all year.
Yeah, you're going to pick fifth.
Oh, never.
change NBA, never change. And the guy that's supposed to go first, Cooper
Flag is unbelievable, apparently. Yes, it's a year you want to pick first.
Like, you'd probably almost want him over Luca. I mean, he's younger. Yeah. And he's
going to be a star, they think. Oh, yeah. Toronto dropped two spots. Yeah, they went to nine.
They're trying to reel in Janus because he's, uh, in Tentacompo. He's up in Milwaukee. It's
time probably. He's not up, but it's like, they got to rebuild. Do they get Janus? Maybe not.
league probably wants them in a bigger market.
One NBA executive estimated privately
that winning the draft lottery be worth
$500 million to a billion dollars for the franchise.
The Mavericks just won the lottery, literally.
So happens we trade donchage, right?
It could get rewarded.
Trade Luca to our biggest market, we'll get your flag.
That's the kid that goes wrong.
Hey, commissioner said so.
Everyone thinks this is rigged, right, Jack?
Yeah, without a doubt.
Because we joke about the NHO and being rigged,
I'm like, yeah, I don't know.
You saw the ping pong balls.
This one, they're like,
I wish I grabbed that list
because there was like the,
the calves getting LeBron.
They trade LeBron and then they immediately get
the first pick. Yeah, something like that.
Like, there's just a list of superstars leaving
and then they just get the first pick.
You feel sorry for you.
Here's a first overall pick.
We're just great coincidences, right?
Shit happens, Ryan. You never know, man.
Go back door of that stuff.
Is that our
The rest of the entirety of our NBA?
We got on to baseball.
Let's go to baseball.
We love cracking on bad calls from umpires.
This might be the worst of the year.
Check this out.
Goodness.
Where that miss?
You see the picture?
That is his middle, middle.
See it again.
Watch the pitch's reaction because this is easily strikeout, ring them up.
Goodness.
Where did that miss?
Oh, see.
Is that our boy, James?
Czky at the dish too.
Classic.
Did he fall asleep?
Maybe.
Yeah, that's it.
That's not a ball.
No.
Speaking of baseball,
the Seattle Mariners are cowards.
You know why?
They moved the Blue Jays series
off the summer and into non-summer to May.
I wondered about that.
Okay.
Why are they so afraid of all the Blue Jays fans?
You just think all these Canadians are going to come down
and invade you with Barnburner huddies, huh?
All right.
Look at this.
There we go.
Woo.
That's a co-lap for the ages.
Origin hoodie and a barn birder hoodie.
So this is my mom's friends from Vancouver Island.
Making the track.
The trip, ripping the hoodies, and the Js swept them.
Did they not?
Jays won all four.
All four.
To get back to 500.
What a time to be alive.
Oh, go Jays go.
But yeah, it's not July August.
There was a lot of Jays fans,
but there wasn't the 20,000 that come down in July.
Look at this.
Well done, team.
Love to see it.
Barneys, get some photos.
I would love to see it in person.
Yeah, so put it back in July, August, and we can go.
May, kids are in school.
Take my kid.
Rain in May in Seattle.
I won't warm weather.
I don't have a private jet.
Just fly my kids in Seattle to watch a game like you do.
Not yet, hey?
Say your nickels.
I'm sure it's coming.
We're doing the 999 May 30.
It's a J's game.
But we found.
something even more intriguing than a 999 that I think we're going to get you to do in the fall
man dressed his happy Gilmore character pulls off at 18 18 18 18 that's holes of golf
beers and dogs who and a hole is probably a lot less time than a ending of baseball part three's you
a lot of time to get a dog and a beer in you good work it's also easy to just make this statement
Is this say I'm jack or did this guy actually do it?
He does have the outfit.
I don't care about the happy Gilmore outfit.
Anyone can put on a stupid outfit.
Can you actually consume 18 beers and 18 dogs and 18 holes?
That's a challenge.
Quinn is a journalist.
He would not mislead you.
Quinn Eaton.
And that article apparently is two years old.
Good stuff, guys.
What did you say you did in India famously?
Wrote a bear?
We got some.
video here you are red riding a bear in india
i can't say russia
i'm sorry i'm sorry for medvedia
i don't know you're hammered red
oh yeah all makes sense always
it would be nearly as scary if you're in the bag
so crushed he's destroyed

It's a sliding scale.
It works that way.

It does what it's supposed to do.
They're doing their part for sure.

Yeah, we need a little breakdown with the house. No, it's just the cleaning people.
Why wouldn't people walk in here when we're doing a show? It's like they have no idea what's going on.
They definitely don't have an idea what's going on. You're right. But like, what does it look like we're doing?
That's a good point.
It's a dark room, but there's bright lights on one spot.
Yelling.
Your microphones in front of us.
There's cameras rolling everywhere.
Hey, guys.
Just wanted to touch base on the cleaning service.
You're not busy right now, are you?
Grab a seat.
We've got an empty chair, right?
Like, come on.
Are those rolling?
Do you mind?
I think we got to do it.
It's like Kramer when he had it set up in his apartment.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, Jay.
Talks.
That set was unreal.
Uh, bets.
B'a, ba, ba, ba, bat, bet three, six five.
Didn't get you're over yesterday.

We're riding Vladdy over a base and a half.
This does not include walks.
So a single double would do it, two singles would do it.
You can figure that up pretty easily.
507 first pitch tonight.
I like that one.
Shane Baz for the raise against Jose
Barrios of the Jays.
the Dallas stars we like may get the return of Mira Hayskin and will face Connor Hullabuck in
that I'm going over three goals that is a team total not the full game over under Dallas
over three they hit four plus 145 wow a couple plus money bets there I was also looking at
ranting in shots not count on Hullabuck to find his way no I'm not no in fact I'm betting against
hellebuck finding his way let's see if that pays off tonight or not you don't
don't have to follow me. You can do your own thing.
Get the app. Get involved.
Never ordinary at bed.
365. We'll be back tomorrow.
There are two games tomorrow.
See if Carolina wraps things up.
And we got the Toronto series back on.
We've got lots of super chats to go through.
Let's get some chats. Let's get chat. And we told you a lot to chats today.
Let's get to it. Super chats for the youth centers of Calgary, whether it's a ward
Neil, playing with pals.
There's a quiet time of the book, whatever it is.
You send us a Calgary are there.
Help make life a little less stressful for the youth in our city.
What's up with that?
1399.
I will be in Cowtown Middle of June, flying out from the rock.
Do you want me to stop by the studio as a special guest and chat flames, right?
Middle of June.
Well, you come up.
Yeah, maybe you come in and we'll do a deep dive into the draft position with the flames
and what they can get and what they need.
That'd be good.
What's up of that is a huge draft.
guru so we'll dive into the second round and beyond what the flames are looking at what's up of that
you okay good at that it is that time of year but bring us something from the rock uh r and b weighing in
r and b loves talking rosters and trades and this good little run for him or her auto needs d man
send weger there i hope to see anderson stay weger seems to be slower low i kuber kind of that's
very nice of chertano two straight good years value on contract he's 32 next
your thoughts. My thought is this. I'd rather have the remaining, what,
five years on Uighers deal than nine more of Anderson.
My thoughts of this, I'd rather have McKenna or DuPont and neither of those guys, if that
can work out. So that's the cards. I'm not going to fight you on that.
Those are the cards I'd like to play. I don't think it's going to happen.
And you know what? It's even if you trade both those fellows, there are no guarantee.
The Dallas Mavericks might win the NHL draft lottery.
Now, who knows?
Yeah, I don't understand why Mr. Edwards can't get.
Come on.
Welcome Mer, let's go here, win this draft lottery.
Yeah.
Cut a check, trade a guy.
What do you got to do?
Gary, how much?
Gary, what's the number?
Let's go.
What was Darrell Payton in Edmonton all those years?
Yeah.
We'll add inflation.
Let's go.
Got a new barn coming.
We need a spot.
Let's go Panthers.
That's from Marvin.
Two bucks.
Billy Bob Warner agrees with you, Marvin.
Yeah.
Billy Bob, all in on the Panthers.
Handsome Dan.
I need to talk to you because I got to go fishing.
Text me the best spot that you got where I can fish.
Handsome Dan said they're biting right now.
Well, I'll come out there right now then.
Friday's off.
Ten bucks from Handsome Dan.
He says,
Retro,
who are the people you played with?
Would you most want to back you in a bar fight?
And which would be your best to tour you through a museum,
Dougie Hamilton stuff?
I actually watched Paul Laos top 10 fights last night.
I'll take Paul in my bar fight.
You always pick Paul.
And it's probably one of the sneakier tough guys of all time.
Yeah.
And who's the best museum guide you play with?
Museum guy.
They didn't go to museums.
Who would, on the team that you played on, want to go to museum?
It's got to be one guy at some point.
I'm not going to a museum.
No, correct.
And which one would be?
You're dodging the questions for the kit.
It's 10 bucks.
And which one would be best to tour you through a museum?
Like, let's say you're in Washington.
One player comes up like, hey, Red, great game last night.
Uh, the guys are meeting at lunch here.
I was thinking we could go through that aeronautical museum.
Like, who is that?
Is there one guy you played?
I'd go with my boy, Monty, because we'd be wasted.
Right.
Come up with our own interpretation of this.
You'd make a left and miss the museum and end up in some seedy hole.
It would be a museum of sorts.
Right.
Things to look at anyway.
I'm putting down, Monty.
Rest in peace.
What a beautiful.
Thank you, Brandon.
Black heart bucks.
Now what's that?
Is he Braveheart?
Blackheart?
He's got a pooch?
You definitely have to get a black heart tattoo if that was your last name.
Brandon, we're going to need a question there.
We can't just be reading empty bubbles.
Does he follow that up with anything?
Not that I saw.
Brandon, if you have a question, put it in.
Brandon fired in.
You don't have a lot of time.
Other supers.
There's Ken.
Ken five bucks.
Hey, please show that cartoon with Pinders Flatbrim Hat.
Jack. It's for our boy,
Darrell who watches the show. Oh, that's
this stuff. Look at how curve the
rim is none of that flat pender
crap crap for me.
And what's the name of the cream
and on the desk there?
That's the me time moisturizer.
Pick some of that up
of your local pharmacy.
Daryl's, look how
happy is, eh? That's like
when he drafted Dian. It's like the biggest
smile I've ever seen.
Sprinting up to the
podium. Oh, red deer
Dionnev. See, Darrell
loves it. Hey, people
whoever floats your boat, does
you got you, buddy? Okay, how's the ranch? Is there anymore?
That's all.
That's all. It was a pretty good day.
It was a good day for the kids.
Good day for the kids. Good day for the comments.
Tough day for the Vegas nice fans amongst us.
We don't talk about Vegas and not
in the situation they're in with the team they're playing
against. They're dead.
I agree, Jack.
It's only one thing left to do, friends.
Send you out with a little oiler on oiler pain.
See you, buddies.
Is there something that happened?
God damn it.
