Oh, look at this guy.
Look at them.
I love working in the summer.
Don't you?
Me too.
Time off stinks.
Yeah, I know.
It takes you down.
You get out of your routine.
Yeah.
It's hard on a guy.
I am out of sorts.
I am out of sorts.
I just can't wait to get in here every day again and start prattling on endlessly.
Ryan to about things.
Yes.
Ryan update coming up in a little bit.
Welcome to the show, a proud presentation.
of Bet365. Check out Bet365s.
Five run early payout when your ball team.
Talking about MLP. It goes up by five. You get paid. It's that simple.

If you're watching this thing,
God love you. Please help.
And the Super Chat, if you are in the YouTube as we are live,
you put some money down with your comment. We'll put your comment on the show.
And then, of course, the money goes to the youth centers of Calgary.
Hello and good day to everybody over at McLeodlaw, setting us up here as always in our McLeod Law LLP studios that are a little bit, they're a little quieter today, not as much jibber jabbering.
Maybe we can get McLeod law on that.
How do we just keep him out of here?
You know what I mean?
Everything's, there's less stress and angst and everything.
It's just the whole mood is there.
Everything is definitely different.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I don't know we need some kind of waiver.
I don't know.
HR?
Maybe.
Do we have an HR department?
Yeah, Jack.
Yeah.
I think we do.
Okay, Chuck.
Well, is there any way we can de pender ourselves?
I mean, we probably could if we really wanted to.
The problem is there are days like today where I would be happy to have him rattle on about nothing because there's nothing to rattle on about it.
Well, he is that guy.
I don't.
interact a lot on social media anymore.
Really?
But it is the true testament of Pinder and his,
just how deep it sits inside my,
my craw.
I'm looking for,
it's looking for stuff,
anything to talk about on the show.
So I'm scanning,
scrolling, scrolling,
scrolling,
and then I see his dumb X account pop up.
Now he's in,
he's in Chicago.
He and his lovely wife,
they've gone away for a week.
I don't think they took the kids.
Anyway,
they're on vacation.
Lovely Tuesday. Maybe they're out at a cafe, grabbing a coffee out in the windy city.
Lost dogs and the Cubs play today.
That's right. That's right. But instead, this is what I see from Pinder while he is in Chicago.
Corey Prawnman with the athletic has put a power ranking of teams, U23 talent pools.
And Pinder flames way up from last year. Deep system.
That's at 8.49 a.m.
I'm just like, oh my God.
Like, does it ever, does it ever rest?
Does the, there is no off switch to the nerd machine when it comes to him.
There's a level of importance.
Yeah.
It's like, hey, nerd, you're on vacation.
Give it a rest.
Like, it's just, now people want to hear from.
Right.
He's got to have his hot takes.
He believes that.
And well, like, this is no shot against Corey Prawnman.
I love Corey Pran.
You know, he's, you know, I'm sure he puts in some work looking at talent pools and giving his
opinion on who's better.
way up from last year.
So from last year's Corey Prawnman article,
this is a big,
so good on the flames,
well done Craig Conroy.
In the Prondman rankings,
you've gone up.
Deep system.
He did respond as you knew he would.
He put a photo.
There it is.
Yeah, that's just it.
So why are you?
To which I said,
they're awesome.
Now go get a hot dog.
Shut your phone off.
Yeah.
Have some deep dish and do your best
to keep your thoughts on goals above expected
and war to yourself for a few days.
Somehow X will survive without you
or whatever the hell you're doing.
Yeah.
Do you think he talks to his wife about stuff like that?
No, I think she would lose it and rightfully so.
Can you imagine?
Like I really think Jonathan Castania has a chance
in a year or two.
Who's the Wittenbach?
Is it a Wittenbach?
This guy's going to be a hundred goal score.
He's the Wittenbach.
What a Sienbach?
Yeah.
It was just an amazing draft pick.
Can't skate.
He's out of shape, but probably can score.
We're at a show.
We're at a theater show.
Would you shut up?
People love you, Ryan?
Love you.
Yeah, you're right.
Chicago.
Yeah.
Steeltown.
Steel town. Yeah.
City by the Bay.
You saw it there.
Great town.
Great town.
We'll actually talk about the Cubbies coming up.
There was a unique kind of a thing last night because you were right.
It's the White Sox.
The Battle of the Birch.
And the Cubs.
It's the North Side.
in the south side.
Was Depot a North Sider?
He did it all.
Yeah.
He went deep.
The Depot Mafia.
Yeah.
Chitone.
Mark Deepa Squally, great guy.
He's the longtime trainer,
equipment manager of the flames.
I don't know when you say trainer,
you start to think,
well,
he's not running out there to help him
when players when they're injured.
Well,
they shouldn't be laying on the ice.
Yeah, that's right.
Get up.
But he's the equipment guy.
He's from Chicago.
He grew up in Chicago.
He loves the whole thing.
works his way in as a hardworking young lad with the Chicago Blackhawks.
Oh, he was in there.
Gets in there.
It's like,
this guy's,
I like the cut of his jib,
said the Hawks.
We should give this guy.
Works his way up,
works his way up.
He was what the assistant,
one of the assistant equipment men with the Chicago Blackhawks.
But boy,
things in Chicago for the Hawks.
It's a dark time.
Real quiet.
5,000 people on a Sunday at 5.
Yeah.
Eric Gauze and Kyle Calder.
And they're just not,
uh,
there's not a lot of wins.
in Chicago.
Old Daryl Sutter.
Darrell Sutter, his team has just
gone on a big 04 run.
This team is excited. Do you see the
Dome in 2004? The crowds are crazy.
Hey, Deepo.
Why don't you come up here and be my guy?
Come on up here. We'll give you a gig.
We're going to win some cups. It's going to be great.
Okay. I have to leave Chicago. I am from Chicago.
It's my hometown. Yeah, I am from
here. I'm an American, but I guess I'll go through that
because I would love to.
to win a cup. I want to win a cup. That'd be so
great. It ain't happening here.
Oh, dear.
Sorry, Deepo.
Oh.
Yeah.
It's just three.
This year, though, this year?
Big year.
Well, you saw Promin.
Yeah.
Do argue with Pinderman and Promin?
No, you can't do it.
Not happening.
D system over there.
She's the. It was a lot of ease there.
Yeah. Yeah.
So, yeah, Chicago.
You always talk, what I say?
I might go to Chicago, you're always like, ooh, stabby.
It's not a great town.
Do you feel that or do you just do that to kind of take the wind out of my sense?
Oh, I think there's a bit of both.
I love Chicago, actually.
It was always a fun time.
Brand into Depot the first time we really met him.
Really?
Yep.
Gibson Steakhouse or something.
We were there.
The shoveler and I were engaged, I think.
Oh, young love.
Yeah.
That's what it is.
Then it gets old fast.
But we were having a nice steak, and he can,
came up and said, I'm coming, I'm like,
what hell you're talking hockey for it?
Yeah.
It's a lockout.
Yeah.
Why are we doing this?
I don't do Pinder.
I'm in Chicago to have a good time.
Yeah.
Talk business.
Yeah.
You're, I'm in the league.
I don't need to talk about the league being, being from it.
Yeah, I wonder, I know that they, I think they're going to some, going to see a ball game.
I don't think they were there last night.
Where are they playing?
Riggily.
Oh, that's okay.
I wouldn't want to go to that place.
Yeah, apparently.
I don't know.
There's a lot of stabby parts of
a lot of dying going on.
Have you ever been to Riggly, Jack?
I have not been to Chicago.
You and your idiot friends
would have the most wonderful of times
if you went to Riggily.
Well, I saw there was a big scrap
in the bleachers last night.
You could do one of those.
Get into a big Donnybrook
with some other mouth breathing.
Is it true?
The football team is leaving Chicago?
I think it's bluster.
Yeah, okay, good.
That would be horrible.
Yeah, they're moving.
moving to Indiana or something.
It might be bluster, but the mayor of that town's a real.
Is he?
Oh, way worse than ours.
How do you feel about mayors?
Mayors are so bad.
Because I know how you feel about the New York mayor and now the Chicago mayor.
And even our mayor?
Our mayor is an idiot.
Nenshi?
Nenshi.
Yeah, Rent will come in and say, this, this friggin, Mbondonier.
Jack, what's he talking about?
I don't know.
some guy somewhere he's
careful, but he's an idiot.
So who's the Chicago mayor?
A boob.
A useless
What is Darrell say?
Like tits on a bull.
Yeah, like tits on a bull.
Daryl's got a book coming out.
I thought it was out.
It's coming out.
It is done.
It is written.
Pinder had Justin Bourne,
the,
the co-author.
Typist.
Yeah.
I mean, he helped.
In fair, this is not a shot.
It's going to sound kind of like a shot.
But Darrell is kind of one of those guys.
Let's help work.
I'm shocked.
Our sentences and words.
Not in a bad way, but I'm shocked.
He did it.
He would have amazing stories.
That is my first.
It's quite a journey Daryl's had in his life, blah, blah, blah.
And it would be very interesting for people to read it.
Off air conversation.
We're going to, we need to do an interview with Daryl about the book.
I want you involved.
I want to try and coordinate like a.
I guess we could do it over Zoom, but I'd rather,
God, there's a lazy bastard to drive in.
It's probably calving or haying or.
I don't think so.
I don't know what he's doing up there.
Personality, he's creative.
But I would love to get him in the room here so we could sit and talk to him for a little bit.
But that's got to be one of the first questions.
A guy who's very private, does he,
there's not an excess of words with that guy in general.
If it takes five words for the answer, he's not giving you 10.
I guess just this is what you need to know and nothing more.
That he wrote a book,
maybe you get older,
you get more sentimental.
Is it something for your kids to have?
Is it like a legacy piece for family?
Yeah.
I don't know that.
I don't know what Bourne would have dabbled in front of him to,
it was kind of like getting depot to come to Calgary.
Yeah.
What are we off?
I almost wonder if,
again,
questions for him.
If the idea of the book came up.
about and then he enlisted
born to help him, maybe.
Bob Boren's kid, I kind of,
I don't know, I don't know, stuff for him.
But the thing about it is, and that's the
great, it's the thing about Daryl, we've always said that.
If you ever spent any time and he,
he'd drop a little nugget.
He's like, well, back in, you know,
at the Canada cop, or it's,
oh shit, were you at, so you were part of that and you did
holy cow, like you played with him for him,
that sort of, there should be a book.
Absolutely there should.
The guy comes from this,
this storied family makes the NHL,
has a career,
leaves to attend a family,
like just leaves his NHL career,
then comes back,
starts coaching,
looks like,
well,
he's not,
he's not going to win.
The Tinseltown Hollywood
bring in the farmer
to coach their team.
I mean,
he's literally driving the truck,
the pickup into Staples.
center parking and
wins cups with the LA Kings.
It's a tremendous story.
So I look forward to, you know, reading it and talking
to it, but that is coming up.
Jack?
Oh, boy.
Ooh.
Can we lean on you to do the reading of the
book for us?
Does it have Dorrell put you through the ringer if you don't.
Yeah, I do want to read that.
Can I get the audiobook? I want an audiobook of
Darrell reading. I don't think Darrell's
going to read. That's what I was, could we
get Daryl to narrate the book.
Then I'm in. I'd be hooked right
away. It would be tremendous.
But yeah, I look forward to that. That's coming up.
I think he is doing some stuff I saw with
Cam Jansen. Yeah, I saw that drop in. Andy Strick on
the Cam and Strick podcast. He's going on that one with those guys.
So yeah, I'm coordinating.
So he's not answering you?
No, it was just, it was, Pinder was kind of doing it.
It then got handed over to me. So that is born and our guy to have
involved in anything with Darrow.
Like that guy epitomizes the person
Darrow would like to sock in the nose.
Yeah.
It's true.
It's absolutely true.
And Pinder did exclude himself
from the interview, which is nice,
because we don't need to talk about
how many goaltending starts is
right in 2026 for goalies and what the workload is
grindy. Well, I don't like your answer.
Yeah. You're wrong.
Dumb.
Uh, capital.
Shev, you know what? Last week, it kind of, I didn't realize it was how, I, because I don't
pay close enough attention. But Matt, a capital chef, he runs that place. He was asking me a while
ago, he's like, my kid loves ACDC. Oh. And they're coming to Edmonton. Yeah. Like, do I take,
it's Edmonton, it's outdoors. A lot could go wrong. Do I take my kid to, he'll be mad at you down the
road if you don't. When he turns,
it becomes 18, 20,
so you had a chance to take me to see
ACDC live and you didn't do it just because
it was outside and they're kind of
old. So I guess
Matt took the kid. He went.
They went to Evanton. It was going to, it was supposed
to pour rain. My idiot brother had tickets and
took a bath on him because he decided
not to do. Really? Yeah. And he
well, you heard it there. He sent me
the photo and you see from their seats,
there's the stage.
Boom.
The star, you hell's bells kicks in.
The place goes crazy.
The kids losing the shit.
It's awesome.
So you can ask Matt about that if you go in and, you know, buy a truck.
Capital Shep.
Capital Shep.com.com.
sev.com.
13103 Lake Fraser Drive in the southeast.
It's Calgary's truck destination.
That's.
It's over a year from now, but apparently I've been told to buy one of those
Colorado.
Oh, really?
Yeah.
Well, I can't tell you for 2027, the Sierras are, they're changing the whole,
the whole dash.
Like, the whole thing is going to just like a.
screen and digital and stuff happening.
You've maybe heard about the $99 lease.
That is a real thing.
It's a big inventory, competitive price of a team that knows how to keep things simple,
just the way Calgary,
13-103 Lake Fraser Drive in the southeast.
It's capital-shav.ca.
And you can go see my buddy, Claire.
Have you not ready?
He's, yeah, Warner's down here.
I don't know where he's.
I think he says hi, but I don't know exactly who he is.
Oh, he's real short.
It's bow-legged.
It's a real
real hick.
Yeah.
Real hit down there.
There's a few of us.
Is it hick country down there?
Oh, there's some wonderful human viewing.
Some hillbillies.
How's your brother doing?
Oof.
Not good.
Because he's the,
oh,
come on.
I don't want to talk about it.
Okay.
It's going to be sad.
False pets.
Okay.
You don't have said too much.
Feel bad I brought it up.
Feel bad I brought it up.
Um, we'll have the Pinder report coming up.
And I'll tell you what it is.
Um, I hope it's him in Chicago.
No, it's God, please don't let.
I don't know.
Uh, I was going to use like a cooking analogy of Jack,
have you ever made cinnamon buns?
Yes, once and they were awful.
Okay.
The thing about cinnamon buns is I was talking with somebody.
Oh, actually just the other days.
Even when they're at their worst, still sugar and butter and doughs.
It's got to be okay.
But if you're not good with, okay, so you build the dough and you lay it, you roll it out, you do some of this, you sprinkle all this sort of thing. This is how I'm getting to my Pinder Report thing. All right. Then you roll it into a thing. And say your recipe calls for 12 cinnamon buns. And you're like, well, I'm just going to eyeball it. See? Dun, dunk, bunk, dunk, dunk, dunk. And without fail, I would be too big. And then that last one, you're kind of like trying to cobble. It's like, maybe can I roll this? So it's like,
little little that's the pinder roll today oh it's the last the last cinnamon bun after i've
overextended the first 11th yeah um it's it's it's going to be a cinnamon bun but not much of
one but hopefully it's a taste still delicious just a little still delicious more so that is uh that is
coming up a little bit later on um what's new with you jack really nothing red asked me on the ride here
because I was taxi and wrecked today.
Big update.
What I did on the weekend,
nothing.
Really nothing.
I don't know how to describe it.
That it was 30 minutes of silence.
Yeah,
then we just listened to the radio.
No.
Yeah, nothing new.
My dad's coming to town on Wednesday.
Nice.
That's tomorrow.
Yeah.
What do you guys doing?
They're going to go to some fancy steakhubs.
Yeah,
they'll be going to millions of dollars.
They'll be taking me around town.
That's nice.
I told you're going.
should check out Mercato.
Yes.
Not though.
Dude, I was there Sunday night.
The lady I lived with, it was, it was her birthday yesterday.
Don't ask because I can't tell you.
I don't know.
But we've been going to Mercado for years.
Love it.
I was in, by you, introduced to Mercado Bayou many, many years ago.
Still my favorite restaurant.
And you over drank that day.
That's not accurate.
That's, you stole the, you know his move.
move? I told this story. No,
Red's move.
Rhett goes out with, say, like, four or five families, go out couples, have a big dinner,
and it's family style. So you order all the path, so big bowls of pasta come out and you take
some with the tongs and everybody has some of the big, the besteka, the big steak
that they cook. It's this thick when it goes on there and it comes out, they slice it up,
lemon and arugalin, they got coarse salt, it's delicious.
You order a lot of food.
sometimes like it's a lot of food so they pack it up for you your
leftovers rent takes them all
this guy right here
I have no big bag of
leftovers set aside by the back door
thank you very much out the back door and
misses misses the bill and grabs the lefties
I've paid enough bills
yeah went there the I had to text
Dom.
Dom, who's, of course,
Mama Kathy and that,
the family has owned that place forever.
I'm like, dude, I've been coming here for years.
And this is a Sunday night and whatever.
We had,
there were six of us there.
It's maybe the best one we've ever had.
The Caprazy salads.
In our house,
because we got kids leaving home here in the next couple.
The tomatoes are right at the,
like the Caprizi salads and the asparagus is done just right.
Did you think you can make the Caprizi?
Yes.
How?
I don't know how they do it.
my kid asked me he's like how did they get it because the asparagus is cooked just perfect
but it's got the prosciutto wrapped on it and it's also like did it do you do you blatch it do you
cook the asparagus a little bit before and how you doing down there don't know what they're doing
they got this jili right now this this kind of it's got some spice burly pasta
I might have to go stop I did I text though because I'm a nice guy right but I was so compelled
right now.
There were six of us.
Everyone was blown away.
The caprizy salads and shilly just to let you know your staff and your food as good as ever.
We said, shut the,
he said, shut that boy.
Oh, you like food, do you?
Tubby?
That's a shock.
Yeah, you're hard to impress.
I could have put anything in front of you.
You'd have been texting me about how great it is.
We were going somewhere.
Wednesday, the 19th, Jack.
Let's see what we got here.
Let's see what's cooking for five.
Oh, no.
we got talking about because and then you pivoted to Mercado from the stake of the Jack and your dad.
Are you going golfing?
No, no golf.
How's his hip golf?
I don't know how the hip is.
I'm sure he's doing better than he was before.
Yeah.
Well, I hope so.
We'll see.
Yeah, I guess we'll see.
Wednesday's no good ready.
He gets here late anyways.
I'm not taking you.
He's taking as other people.
He's not looking for you.
That's what you need to know.
Okay, listen, the adrenaline source for sports.
Oh, that place will be hopping.
It is hopping.
And here's the thing, you know what?
Just get it into your head, skate sharpening.
Two things are going on.
Hey, where you're what?
From now until September 30th, there's two things.
You go into any of the adrenaline shops.
So there's McLeod Trail, Northland Mall, Flames Community Arenas.
You go in there and you say, hey, I heard on Barnburner about a free skate sharpening.
what do you think you get?
Hey, oh, hey, hurrah.
One per customer, don't get greedy.
Don't ruin a good thing.
A free skate sharpening just by mentioning
barn burner at any adrenaline location
from now until September 30th.
Show them.
The 30th.
This is one of those things.
It's like, well, we're going to track it
and see if any people watch Barb or do that.
Show them.
Show them, folks.
Even if you don't skate anymore.
No, don't do that.
I'll throw a few of those grinding wheels.
The other thing, and this deal ends on September 30th.
The winters are a long, long grind.
See what I did there?
Let's buy this.
The unlimited skate sharpening cart.
Right now, $300.
That is 50% off what they're usually going to be charging you.
It takes about 25 sharpening's to break even on this.
It's good for the whole family.
It's not just one kid.
The family.
unlimited skating cars, valid for unlimited sharpening
at any of those locations,
McLeod, Northland, and FCA,
until June 30th of next year.
So you're getting the full spring,
full winter, the whole deal for 300 bucks.
But that deal ends on September 30th.
So there you go.
Thank you, adrenaline source for sports,
taking care of our city's young athletes.
Yeah, I'll be popping in there.
Our ringette players and our hockey players
and referees and coaches.
Beer leaguers.
Beer leaguers.
adrenaline source for sports.
Why don't you get on a team, Jack?
I was just going to say,
is there any part of you that thinks about...
I've thought about it every year.
It's tough with the afterburners, to be honest,
when I'm working those nights.
I thought I was you guys.
I like to...
I'll sub.
Like, when I'm not working,
I'll sub like once every two weeks.
So I do that.
But I'm not on a team, no.
It was probably about eight years ago.
I'm just trying that because 2020,
finish with radio.
It was well before that.
So say,
anyway,
doing mornings.
And I got convinced,
coerced into,
I just,
it's a good group of guys.
We're in the lowest division.
It's just for whatever.
It's like,
it's hard because on the nights,
I'm not watching Flames games.
I'm pretty happy just to,
but I watch something else.
I'm just,
yeah,
it's just whatever.
Ah,
sure.
I think I made it out twice.
And that was it.
That's the last time.
that I played.
And were you excited to get out there both times?
The first time.
Yeah.
Second time was like,
this feels like the last time.
And I was right.
I was right.
That was the last time.
And I don't know.
What about noon hockey?
What about that sort of thing?
Good.
Lunch.
Pinders asked me out a couple times.
Oh, my God,
I don't want to distance yourself.
I haven't gone.
Exactly.
Distance yourself.
That is not the type of people
you want to be hanging around with.
Yeah, because I'll tell you what happens
is you do this show, you leave,
you play hockey,
the next day you come in with a story
about how you've lost your wallet.
You don't know where your jacket is.
Your hockey bag got stolen from outside of
all because if you're enthusiasm,
the rose and crown, 1230.
Yeah, exactly.
I wouldn't accomplish anything the rest of the day.
What'd you accomplish this weekend?
Nothing.
Oh, yeah, I mean, I should have done
summer league hockey. Is that a thing?
It is. It is a thing.
My idiot friends
had a Sunday night
at like 10 o'clock
all winter. I'm like, why don't
you do it in spring? Yeah.
A lot less likely
to get off the coach when it's minus
25 than. Yeah. That's my buddy
beef. That's what he does back
home. He runs rec hockey leagues
in the winter and in the summer.
And a lot of those guys from back in
Manitoba, the
I'm not sure. I'm not sure.
or like the Cody Eakins and guys.
They would play in the summers out there.
Yeah, 8.30 ice, 745.
That's better, Jack.
You could do that.
You could do that?
I could.
You should do that.
There's less ice available because I think some rings
obviously take them out for the summer.
You just only need one sheet and to be on one team.
You don't need to play pickup hockey
with a bunch of people you don't know.
Because there's that.
There's old man hockey,
pick up hockey at like Cardell.
Every day.
Yeah.
You could go out there.
Show me your stuff.
I could.
What about you?
No, I'll never put on skates and play the game of hockey again.
Oh, you just did?
I know.
I was extremely nervous and I kicked ass and now I'm done.
The Shorzy.
Shorzy.
Yeah, I dominated.
I saw the video.
I was the best defenseman by far.
What did you do there?
It was like a triple Lutz.
Chirked a beer.
You should have seen some of my outlet passes.
Yeah.
Way better than when I played.
Yeah.
Took more risk.
That's why you should maybe get back into it now.
No.
You're older, you're wiser, you're seasoned.
Grizzled.
I took a hard stride and pulled a groin muscle, so now I'm pretty good.
I can barely sit in the shitter right now.
I did a leg workout three days ago.
It's no good.
That's when you fast.
Babe, I have to fast because my legs are sore.
Babe.
Give me a hand out here.
I need a hand.
What are you doing?
I just can't get up.
Happy birthday.
I've done everything else.
I just need,
hell,
I got to stand up now.
I can't do it.
Some assistance.
Exercise is so stupid.
Don't exercise kids.
It's the worst.
GMC employee pricing.
That's the best.
GMC employee pricing for you.
The event is happening now.
The best part.
It's for you.
You don't need to be employed.
I get there might be some confusion there.
It's employee pricing for you.
As happy as you might be for,
employees of GMC dealerships.
Oh, that's great. They're getting...
They're not to work there.
They're getting wicked deals, I guess.
No, no, it's for you also.
Right now, you can get up to $16,240 cash purchase credit on the 2026 Sierra 500 Denali Ultimate.
Enjoy quality features like available 16-way heated and ventilated front seats, massage function,
available 12 speaker Bose premium sound system.
Head over to your local GMC dealer today to take advantage of employee pricing for you
before it ends. Now, if you want to grab a resume or something, if you'd like to work at a dealership,
that's fine. Nothing wrong with that. I'm sure. But to get this deal, you don't have to be an
employee, which is kind of nice, which is kind of nice. It was last week, I shared a story on the show.
I did kind of feel I was maybe going to save it until Pinder was back, but because at the time,
we're all working together. But I told a story last week about something that happens routinely.
at my house. And I figured if I wait too long, it could. It's going to go away. It's,
it's going to go away. Well, maybe did it just happen once? I talked last week on the show about,
I guess we were talking about our dumb kids and just how dumb boys are. They're smart. Um,
Jack's kind of a go getter. Now getting into your, you know, mid to late 20s. You've kind of grown
out of it, I think. A little bit. Although it does sound like you don't have a lot going on. So maybe it's
still there,
which is kind of,
uh,
just that,
that mode that teenage boys are in.
And I had said that the one kid that I have,
the mornings,
you're just,
just full on,
getting him up for his,
and he works early mornings when he works,
and it can be a struggle.
He went and changed his alarm from a piercing,
because that wasn't working.
Well,
maybe something like a song or something that's going to get me.
So he switched his alarm to kickstart my heart from Motley Crew,
which starts with the burr,
or burr da da da da da.
Maybe it worked for a while,
but it does not work anymore.
So I think I told that story on Tuesday of last week.
This was from Wednesday.
And like they're at the bridge of the song,
by now.
So they've done the intro.
It's loud of clear.
The first, that's the second run through of the chorus.
And that's affecting the audio is the fan that he has on his desk that's blowing
air directly at his face.
He's a good sleeper.
Excellent sleeper.
He is, yeah.
His REM and all that, tremendous.
Just.
Yeah.
He does not need any sleep doctors or anything.
I don't need your whoops and your, none of that stuff.
No, it's good.
I'm dialed in here.
Wow.
I'm jealous.
So proud.
So proud.
Um,
did you wake him up or did you just love him keep sleep?
Forget what we had to do that day.
I did have to wake him up.
Then I just kicked them.
The hell are you doing, son?
Kick the end of his bed.
It's like, let's go.
And then he said, dad, were you talking about me on the show?
What?
Oh, why?
I went, well, I heard that you were talking about the?
Yeah.
Yeah, I was.
He thought it was great.
May I've made mention.
So are you, like, is there any level of embarrassment?
Like, are you kind of?
No, that was great.
So cool.
So, hilarious.
And you got a video?
Are you going to show it?
Yeah, probably.
Oh, oh my God, that's amazing.
Amazing.
Yes, you're inspired.
Amazing.
Amazing.
It's like, he's not breathing.
No, again.
You check to see
is the chest moving a little bit?
He was breathing.
You need not worry about that.
I had a message from
our buddy at Vinova,
Justin.
I love it when
because Justin,
I think,
he set the photo.
He had a hot water tank issue.
So who does he call?
Crystal Waters.
It's the barn burner
the family taking care of each other.
Sends me a note.
He's like,
I went to Bonton.
the other day. The person helping me was really nice. I asked for the number four of the potato
salad. Now the number four is the big one. She gave me the slightest look of like, you must be one of
them. I love it. Could I get the number four? I see. We know who you are. I see. I have no
problem with the number four. I've also purchased a four at the same time as the number three.
I've purchased two fours and sometimes three fours. I don't, I love a 44.
How that's see that should be that's there. There's a promo in there somewhere four fours.
It's the it's the Warner. I've never promoted. Greg all the time. I've never promoted our potato
salad anywhere. Even on your show, I've never promoted it, but you guys keep talking about it.
And we just have to keep. And they do. They just have massive.
bowls of it and people just keep coming.
It's just. We went to the
tailgate party. Greg Cook.
I brought kids that had not had
access to the
potato salad before.
I watched them return
to the potato salad tray.
Numerous times.
Yeah. Numerous times.
I'm sorry, Greg.
I love the potato salad.
And it's funny. There was one,
there was a person and only one
that I won't mention her name.
my newest addition to the family.
But the first time she had it, she was like,
it's okay, it's all right.
We had it a second time.
She's like, boy, you know what?
I was, yeah, I don't know what was up that day.
This is amazing.
This is really good.
Thank you.
So she kind of got pigeonholed into needing to try everything twice
before she can finally figure it out.
But, I mean, it's not all about potato sale,
but that's a nice thing about Bontan.
I'll tell you what, Jack, your dad's coming.
to town make a quick trip up there he's never been there get up there grab some have a little picnic
yeah grab some meat pies they've got the beef ribs and the roasted chris they got all of it in there
you can you can take it home of course because it's a meat and deli and you can cook it yourself
or you can pretend that you cooked yeah they've got pork ribs beef ribs well i got my my dad's parents
are coming to town too so we i might just have to do a whole feast how old are they they're like
uh 80 something because your dad's oldest my dad's
61. Yeah, they're in their 80s.
That's awesome. It's awesome.
Each rider fans, do you? Big writer friends. I bet. How are the riders doing?
Good. How's everybody Mace doing out there?
We'll talk about the stamps in a little bit. I feel bad for everybody, Dave.
Why? The stamps, they're leading the league in points.
They're in every game. They've got leads. They've got leads in the second half and then
happen again the other?
Happening out.
I thought they had the new revamped defense that was going to.
So they're on a buy this week.
Dave was perplexed at the end of the last game.
You can see he was, I'll say he was biting his tongue a little bit.
Going into the bye week?
Going into the private.
Yeah.
Well, you know, it's a good time for the bye.
Poor Dave.
But they're exciting to watch.
They'll come back refreshed.
They will come back refreshed.
What do they say?
Nothing matters to Labor Day, Jack.
It's what they say about the Canadian Football League.
It's pretty soon.
It's pretty soon.
Have you ever been to a Labor Day game?
Yeah, I've been to a couple, I think.
Labor Day classic.
Mm-hmm.
Yep.
Gonna go this year?
The weather's good.
You want to go?
Weather's always good on Labor Day.
It's like a guarantee.
Mm-hmm.
From David Spence.
and Dar MacBoole.
They guarantee good weather for the afternoon match.
I do love the afternoon match.
Maybe you take the train down there.
Do Dar and Spence have any indication of the comedy fest weekend?
Like is that full of rain?
Not looking good.
Still?
Not looking good, yeah.
Who'd you say he's coming at?
Fife, right?
Matt Rife.
Matt Rife.
Bill Burr.
Oh, Bill Burr.
Right.
tail burr and others
old belly burr but it's going to rain
well again it's a long ways out
it's not the long weekend so
yeah it's possible
they should have held it that same afternoon
it'd be tough for the for the fans of
Calgary what do you do which ones do you go to
well I guess we can do we read the prawnman
how good the flames
well I've heard deep system
deep system deep yeah it's a deep
system wow I throw in a little super chat right now
there's Jeremy growing up in Montana I found
Peter Mar and the voice of the Calgary Flames and the fan 960 AM and became a Flames fan.
I wouldn't be a Flames fan if not for Peter Mar.
No.
Amen.
Peter Mar had the ability to draw you in for sure.
I literally, there's certain moments that I remember living in Red Deer at the time, listening
to 960 a.m. in the games.
And it was, it would have been before the Kipper trade, after the Turrician,
injury and not knowing now, not knowing then that we know now, he would have maybe had the
broken sternum by then, right? Wasn't noodles noodles playing with, he had taken a shot and who was it?
Was it Rollston? Ryan Rollston hit it with us and he could shoot it. God. And poor noodler is in there
playing when he should not be playing, but they've got no goalies. And I think, I think McClennon's,
they're going to win. McClellan's playing his heart. Listen to Peter Marr and said,
Great Sam, McClellan, just dive at a cross.
They would not win in the end.
It's just poor noodles.
I feel like maybe he could be a number one.
Maybe he could be a guy if he could just never quite go out there.
Never quite.
Great career.
Then he got traded New York.
That was just about it, right?
How did his career end up Florida to play with Bobby Lou for a couple of years?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Bobby Lou loved them.
Remember those funny little videos they do?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
He makes it enjoyable to be at the rink.
Yeah, he'll be back this fall on the Chris.
He'd probably do it for free.
Looking at it now.
Have you talked to noodles about the fall?
I haven't.
I just, I'm assuming, feel fairly confident that he'll be a part of it.
The Crystal Waters, plumbing and heating, insider hotline, every Wednesday,
Jamie McLennan.
He's a funny dude.
He will make you laugh.
It'll be interesting to see what he did.
all summer.
Italy, of course.
Went to Italy again.
He doesn't seem like a big eater,
but it does sound like he really enjoys himself while he's there.
You say,
and a lot of people say that the wheat and the grain that they use for the
past is different there.
It is.
That you don't.
He was a hugely picky eater.
Yeah.
But he likes chicken and noodles.
Yeah, I was going to say,
he'll order the kid's meal from P.F. Chang's just to have some noodles or
something.
Yeah.
So noodles will be on the,
the insider hotline.
Crystal Waters,
plumbing and heating,
your crystal clear choice for home comfort,
crystal clear Calgary.com.
Be like Justin from Vina Nova.
Be like any number.
They,
they just take great care of you.
They take great care of you.
I was worried the other day.
It's like,
oh,
it was my hot water tank.
I got to call Crystal Waters.
Oh, it's just the pilot light went out.
You should be able to fix that.
I did.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I was like,
is there a,
a chance. Oh, there's no hot water. What's the problem? Is there a chance maybe somehow that the,
uh, could you, would you be able to do that, Jack? If, if, if you suddenly had no hot water.
No. I'm calling crystal water. You're just that first things first. And then they come out and
they're like, yeah, there was, I guess a gas like Pender. Yeah, like Pindor and his garage thing.
Like it's garage heater. No, I'm not felt that was, which I do have a similar story,
embarrassing to share. It was many, now many years ago.
I was a new homeowner.
You're a young boom.
I was just a young boom.
I didn't know how things work.
My freaking garage door is not working.
What the hell is going?
It was working.
No, it ain't working.
Call the garage truck.
I don't know what the hell.
Now, maybe they can give you a recommendation on the phone.
Well, have you tried this.
Have you done this?
But no, okay, I will come on out.
And as it turns out, there's a, it's like a laser beam,
a freaking laser.
Oh.
a sense some sort of sensors that sit near the bottom of the garage door on the inside of it.
And if something breaks that beam, it stops the garage door.
Safety first, Dean.
Because maybe there's a car.
Maybe there's a kid, the tricycle, something.
And if the garage door just keeps coming down, it could squash somebody.
And there could be something terrible.
It's a terrible half.
It's right.
So when that beam, up it goes.
I believe there was a hockey stick or something that had been set there.
Here, just let me.
So the garage door dude came over
And 200
Moved it there
It was an easy 200
Yeah
Yeah that was an easy
As I recall
Even back then
You're like this guy's so stupid
He won't think the 200 is unfair
He'll pay it probably gladly
I made him sign an NDA
You tell nobody about this
Stupid this person's house you are the hockey scene
I'll pay 200
Charge you double here sir
or else I'm going to
Oh,
Cripes.
Let's try it.
Somebody said,
No,
Crystal Waters doesn't do garage doors.
I'm just saying it was similar to,
because Pinder couldn't get his garage heater.
Couldn't get his garage heater to work.
And he just had to turn the,
if you push,
if you turn the power on.
Yeah.
There's a switch.
You turn it on.
It'll work a lot better for you.
Time for the Pinder report.
A presentation of Village Honda.
Coming up.
Saturday, August 22nd, the sixth annual Honda and Accura show and shine.
Calgary's automotive community comes together.
They rejoice in everything.
Automotive builds, classic favorites, modified rides, standout, off, make vehicles.
Maybe you just want to come by.
It's free of charge.
You want to put a vehicle in?
Cheapest chips, retro.
Cheapest chips.
You can register online.
10 bucks at Village Honda.
There's a swag bag for all the people who get in and
proceeds from the event. Go to kids sport. Love that. Village Honda.com up in the Northwest
Autumn Mall. I know there's there is a bit of some confusion. It's like, well, Flames
Nation's done. So it's now a daily face off Cal. Oh, yeah. Change. Um, but the website is still
flamesnation.com. There's some, I don't know, what do they call? Like, uh, shadow bands.
There's, there's some internety stuff that they just switch it. It's like, well, I guess there's
some repercussions potentially that could happen.
Really?
Yeah.
That's what I'm led to be in a negative way.
Yeah.
January-ish.
Going to take some time.
They're going to have to kind of shadow bound.
Sounds like a Tom Clancy.
Yeah.
We're going to have to work the way in.
So for the time being, you can still go to flames nation.
dot CA and see what the writers are writing.
There it is.
Mike Gould, the summer prospect rankings, kind of like Corey Prondon.
Everybody's got their thoughts on this system, this young system,
Tyson Gross, went to college.
signed as a free agent with the Calgary Flames,
got in a couple games at the end of the season,
scored a goal.
Well, he had, well, he had two.
And then what, was it offside or something like that?
Damn it.
Anyway, Tyson Gross,
he got to be a part of what's going on
with the big, great future of this Flames team?
You can read about it with Mike Gould.
Ryan Pike, who I believe is abroad,
he's over in Tokyo, I think.
I think he's in Japan.
Anyway, he's got the mailbag.
The mailbag, let's be honest.
Lazy.
I don't know what to write about.
So send me letters and then I'll just answer them and that'll be my article.
Get a little lazy, Pike. Be flat on us.
That and I know that the people at Flames Nation.ca.
Kind of walking through some of their favorite memories of the Saddle Dome,
which is entering its final season of Flames Hockey.
There were a lot of memories.
Gonna go?
It's a lot of pressure.
I mean, geez.
Hard to get a ticket.
You're the guy that doesn't like the plot.
I mean, this far out?
Probably I'll get.
Don't make promises.
There was some guilt from some of the kids the other day.
So this is the last year of the rink?
Yeah, this is last year.
I sure don't get them any games.
It's the last year?
I didn't.
Two.
We're so hard done by in this house.
Hey, just so hard done by.
We're saving up for the new rig.
Dad,
it'll be tougher to get in that one.
Dad didn't get us enough.
We're like a month out from preseason.
preseason starts September 19th.
I looked on Bet365 in the app.
You can already,
they're already on there.
Really?
Preseason games are in it.
Bet 365, boy, they're in it.
Flames first tune up will be on the 20th of September.
That's a home game against the Seattle crack.
Who are the crack?
I don't know.
We've talked about it.
We'll probably continue to talk about it.
I just don't know.
I don't know.
So yeah, we're about a month away from preseason.
Obviously, camp's going to open a little bit before that.
Less preseason games more.
regular seasons games.
I think it's less, yeah, less pre, because it used to be what,
eight? Kill me.
So many preseason. Yeah, they've trimmed the preseason
roster and they've added two regular season games.
So an extra, one extra opportunity to get to that
saddle tone. Maybe that'll be the one I get to. That one that's an
extra little. Yeah. Now, this is a photo. I couldn't, I couldn't
remember Jack if Pinner showed this on the show or not.
No, I don't think we did. Um, Nate Bargazzi, talking about comedians.
Very funny guy. It's from Nashville.
Uh, you go into Nashville. You'll hear his voice on the
Hey, I'm Nate Bargazzi. Welcome to Nashville. That sort of thing.
Very funny guy. He's got Netflix specials. He's a very one of the top touring comedians right now. He was in Calgary last month. And he was, he received a Flames jersey as teams do. Sporting teams, they'll give the incoming artists and famous people stuff like that. He was the first artist to receive a Flames jersey with the farewell season patch on the shoulder. So there's Nate. He's got big eyes. He kind of talks.
about it's maybe one of his specials.
And I'll be honest,
I dig it.
Like I've got this
free jersey now.
Yeah, that's right. What are you
say? You want a free jersey? Do I want a free jersey?
So now you want to your, that's what you're
your well I mean, listen to the team. I just know Brent Gibbs
and the staff over at the flames and the fanatics store. They do an unbelievable
job and I see the top of it Jack.
It's it's kind of got a it was that concave?
convex cuts it's got a dip in there
it's like the dome it's like the roof
it's a 8th 3rds it's a dome farewell season
I just like the way
it blends in with the jersey
it's not like woof it's too much
whoa hey look at that
love that I would love to see it
in person myself yeah I'd be interested
it's kind of one of those things you see it in a photo
my guess here is though
even better in person
boy I can't wait to see one
so there it is those are going to be on the
game-worn jerseys of the flames this season.
And that's the other thing, too.
If you get one, it's going to be, oh, well, that's the one year only.
Because that's the last year of the dome.
Or if someone went south on the other building.
Boy, I hope not, Redd.
Although I do hear there's rain in the 40s.
Oh, these damn, mayor.
Mayors yelling and scorn.
Yeah.
Love it.
Wow.
Frigin Nate Bargotsie.
Boy, Nate, he gets the first one, not.
Nate doesn't even know where that jersey is.
Not someone who's been.
Living in the city and covering the team.
Big supporter, always down at the dome,
cheering up to frigging years and years pumping their tires.
Anyway, some other hockey stuff.
And again, there is not a lot of hockey stuff right now.
But the word out there is,
remember earlier this summer, Leo Carlson
signed an offer sheet from the Philadelphia Flyers.
Danny Breyer says, you know what?
I'm going to upset the Apple card.
I'm going to get everybody in the league pissed at me,
except for the players.
They're going to love me.
$18 million a year, kind of a contract.
I'm going to kick some ass.
And Anaheim says, well, we're going to have to keep them,
so we're going to have to pay them.
Now, they have other players who also want to get paid.
The Ducks offered Cutter Gochay,
$13 million a season,
but on a shorter term deal, like a three,
that kind of thing.
And he said,
I'm good.
Nope.
not going to do it.
He might be tough to negotiate with the old cutter.
He might be. Because remember he was a flyer and said,
screw Philly, I'm not playing here. And they have to trade him to
Anaheim. And now they've got to sign him.
They have roughly $9 million in projected
salary cap space. Oh.
Partly because they're paying a whole bunch of that to
Leo Carl. It's 18 million eats up a big chunk of that.
So they have good young players. And I think it's actually
last week we talked about it. The Ducks
great young team exciting all of this.
Their D took a hit.
Their defense on paper, at least right now,
looks far inferior.
Yeah, like that's the word.
Very thin compared to what it was.
They keep Leo Carlson,
but now you've got some,
might be some,
I hope that's not the case.
I do like that. Why not?
Why are the numbers released?
Yeah, well, again, who wants that out?
Is it the team?
Does the team want people to know
that he's turning down 13,
million does
get 41.
I didn't know it was a sweet.
I didn't either actually.
He plays for the Americans.
He plays with the U.S.
I thought he was American.
So it must have been born in Sweden.
That's it.
Yeah.
But what,
he is six foot two,
205.
2004. I was
whooping ass. You were.
Oh. Yeah, you were.
22 years old
went from 20 goals in his
first full season to 41
in his, so let's just keep
double.
in the 80
80 goals season
on 84 games this year
that's right
yeah look out
sky's the limit for cutter
I do you know what
I hope it works out
for all cutter
and the ducks
we could sign them
yeah
they won't have to
give up all those picks
gonna have to give up a lot of picks
yeah
I don't think
cutter's coming up there
I don't think cutter
is coming here either
yeah I don't think so
that's the hockey news
that's good
That's what's making news in the hockey world.
That news for the ducks.
Is there anything else?
I was listening to Secarus and Price, a little clip that they had talking about Thatcher,
Demko, who remember him, he, good goalie when he's healthy, can't play when he's hurt.
When he's injured and out of the lineup, he can't play.
And then the team, they're not as good without him.
He was supposed to be real good.
It's supposed to be real good.
It's kind of cornerstone from the organization.
Yeah.
And they had a real kind of a thing in their hands.
Well, we need to sign him.
or not sign him.
If we don't sign him,
we don't really have goalies
that are any good at all.
But if we do sign him,
it's going to cost a lot of money
and he sure gets hurt a lot.
They went with Plan B.
We're going to sign him,
but he sure gets hurt a lot.
So they signed him and then he got hurt.
And now, the Securus Price Show,
they were basically saying,
you know, if this guy just wants to stay hurt.
Oh?
Because they are expecting another down year
in Vancouver.
There's no need for
Thatcher Dempco to go in there
and steal a few points.
Give some of these other goalies,
give Kevin Lankett or whoever they've got,
give him some games and just,
you don't need to worry about it.
Really?
Yeah.
That's a terrible thing.
It's not great.
I wonder what Thatcher thinks about that.
You'd probably like to be healthy in play, I would think.
How old is this, man?
Thatcher be late 20s.
Look at them.
30.
30.
Do I get credit for it?
Late, late 20s?
right there.
Yeah, so now.
30.
That'll be 30, hey Dean.
God.
Do a lot of things different.
So many changes.
A lot of changes.
So that's the other hockey news?
Yep.
Was that scarce surprise?
No, yeah, yeah.
Well, I was like, oh, good, there's something we can talk about.
It's like, oh, it's not really anything to talk about.
Yeah, I think he's not going to be ready to start.
What's wrong with them?
Is it the same thing, the muscle that no one?
and her.
Yeah, the ligament or whatever it was.
Like, doctor's like, what is this thing?
Like, I went to,
I went to medical school for a hundred years.
I don't know what the hell he's talking about.
Let's look at the NHL.com and see they're doing their.
Is Peter Laviole coaching an East Coast team?
No, he's coaching the LA Kings.
Oh, who did I see was coaching a East Coast team?
I thought somebody with a big name guy.
Does it must have?
Do I just sit here and wait?
No.
Why you remember?
I don't care.
Because I got time.
No, you carry on.
McCar and Werenski are among the NHL network's top defensemen in the league.
How do they determine that?
That's breaking news.
How do they determine that?
Yeah.
It's opinion.
Yeah.
Jordan Mardinook rides with Stanley Cup in a corvette.
No way.
Yeah, he's.
like that.
Born in
Muslim.
I've covered this with his mother.
A lot of people say he's from Brandon.
She's like he's not a brand.
He was born in Brandon,
but because there's not,
I've had to fight that came up in a whole one in Saskatchewan.
I know, right?
You would appreciate that.
So not from Brandon,
although he was born there.
And,
uh,
I believe his mom lives in,
in Ladook and they had the big Ladook day with the cup.
And again,
unselfish.
It's why everybody loves this Martinuk guy.
Oh.
What do you want to do?
get one day with the cup he took it to the rink they had huge lines for kids to come and see it
take the picture with it giving back what a loser no it's more fun things to do than
i think you had some i think he rode with it in a corvette i guess that's cool hosic copatar
kids want to touch the cup they should go win the damn thing that's right long lineup come
just hold life for that would you stand in line with anybody to go in get that thing out of here
it's the cup here oh god
Copatar retired from the LA Kings
when last year is last year
I don't think he should
they're going to retire his number this year
number 11 immediately up to the
up to the thing and I think he's getting a statue
you know outside of whatever they call it like a rocky thing
because they have the they have a Gretzky statue
like there's a Magic Johnson statue
they've got Shaq kind of doing like a rim rocker
up from like the
so now Kobe's
going to get one. How do you know you never made it to the rink? I've been, I was outside the
ring earlier in the day or the day before, something like that. Oh, good for him. I like him.
Reggie said he's an awesome dude. I bet he is. Uh, Brock Nelson is looking forward
with Colorado after crazy year. I guess it was a crazy year for Brock. Uh, is Colorado going
in the wrong direction? And I mean this seriously. I thought about this on one of my long drives.
they're old.
Everyone else is
youthful and young.
They thought,
I think they really thought
they were going to win this year,
as I think did we.
Yeah,
for a good part of the season.
McKinnon is 30.
We'll start with some of the younger guys.
Fitt or Svetchkoff is 23.
Some guys you've not really heard of are younger.
Martin Natchez is 27.
It's fine.
On the back end,
Kael McCar is 27.
Zamilinski, 28.
Then, yeah,
it gets...
It's old.
Nate is 30.
Brock Nelson,
34,
Landeskog, 33,
Codry 35,
Lekanin 31.
They signed Jaden Schwartz.
He's 34.
On the back end,
Devon Taves is 32,
Kulak, 32,
Josh Manson,
34.
Burns is 41.
And their goalies.
Blackwood,
29 Wedgwood 33 so chop chop boys would be the message I think from management there
I'd be worried I'd be worried if I was an avs fan there's a little too much veteran presence
for my liking I know we've talked about it as a lot of people have with how McKinnon is
wired yeah he's gonna be a he's gonna be a hard guy to be around he is a hard guy to be around
when things don't go well.
I think that's
impressive analysis.
Pretty astute.
Yeah, yeah, I do.
You're welcome.
Yeah, I do.
Sports.
I looked at the Bet 365 this morning.
Oh, and who's favorite?
Yeah, playoffs, not playoffs, that sort of thing.
They still feel very strongly the Colorado's going to make the playoffs.
Really?
Yeah, they do.
They really do.
They have, the one thing that they have,
I was just kind of, okay, so what do you,
odds on making the playoffs.
And I find that Bet365 super smart when it comes to this sort of stuff.
Like what do they know?
How did they know?
What,
how could they possibly know?
They have the Boston Bruins,
just based on odds,
a longer shot to make it than miss.
What do you,
when you think about the Boston Bruins,
do you feel like they're a team that's,
I don't know what to make of the,
Boston Bruins.
They had a hundred point season last year.
There's nothing to.
Yeah.
But in that conference and in that division,
I don't think anything's guaranteed.
What's, uh, what's the goalie's name?
Jeremy sway,
man the sway dog.
He will be the deciding factor, I would think.
Where are the Boston Bruins?
I think they were plus two.
Plus 275.
Yeah.
He's thinking of putting a little.
No, I just, because looking at other teams, Toronto's minus 110.
But other, other teams on that kind of side on that, the Islanders plus 240.
Now, they just missed Boston 275, the Blackhawks plus 350, Rangers plus 225.
I don't know.
I just, I didn't, I don't see Boston as being in trouble, I guess, but maybe.
I just think that division's so good.
Yeah.
What's Ottawa, minus 105.
So they think they're significantly better.
Yeah.
They've got Ottawa making it.
They got the Buffalo Sabres making it,
if you want to look at it that way.
Yeah.
Tough news for the penguins,
though, Jack.
Yeah,
they're screwed.
On the wrong side.
Devils minus 140 to make it.
I don't,
I don't get that.
Every year you.
The Metro is weak, though,
but I would think I'd take Washington over them.
I think I'd probably still take Pittsburgh over the devil's.
Would you?
Really?
I think so, yeah.
Just based on what I've seen.
Science.
We had, um,
we recorded with Sean Avery.
it'll come out later. He ripped Sheldon
Keefe for five minutes.
Dad coach.
Just writing that down.
Penguins over devils?
August 18th, Jack.
I like the penguins.
I don't think they'll make the playoffs.
Just to time stamp these sorts of things.
Just to have a, yeah,
so we can go back into the old time machine
and take a visit.
Yeah.
You might not be far off with Keith's
coach because he's not accomplished anything he was supposed to.
Yeah, Avery wasn't a fan.
And as far as odds, Stanley Cup,
the Florida Panthers plus 650,
Carolina to repeat plus 700,
Colorado plus 750.
So they've got the Keynes and Panthers ahead.
I dare say this.
Well, I'm already writing stuff down.
You let me know.
I would put the Oilers ahead of the apps.
I think I would too
I know
like how gross is that
like summer must be
well they don't necessarily
they don't have them above
but the oilers are next
at plus 900
abs plus 750
oilers plus 900
don't like it Dean
it's I don't want to get into it today
because we will talk about it
what gives you that
what gives me that feeling
is it I think the abs are old
I think that
I guess more so on the flip side
what gives you
I think they're rested
yeah
And I think they're focused.
And I don't know that Babcock is the one fly in the ointment is what's Babcock like?
I think they hired Babcock because they're all mad at Bouchard.
And I'm not joking.
Yeah.
They say, well, we need a hard, someone to push.
I don't think they mean push me.
Yeah.
I think they mean push our 90 point defensemen and everyone's going to go, oh, you're being hard on.
No, I do.
I think that you've seen McDavid and drive.
Seidel and the rest of the group, roll their eyes and have a big sigh after Bushbaum decides,
yeah, we're going to lay a turd in the middle of our whole zone and the team's going to score.
Like maybe even beyond Bouchard, but it would be part of it.
And it's not to let the other two off.
But I don't worry about the commitment of McDavid and Drysidal.
Those guys are dogs.
They're driven.
There would have to be those nights where with Knoblock as the coach, things would happen during the course of the game.
and maybe it's something during the game on the bench
or just afterwards where you just get sick and tired
of the losing and the melancholy attitude towards it.
It's like, we need somebody to come in here
and rattle some frigging cages.
We got to hate losing.
It's all that cliche shit.
And he might be the guy for it.
He might not be.
He might rub everyone wrong and it might blow up in their face,
God willing.
Yeah.
But I think they're rested.
I think they've improved their goal tending.
I think their D is as good if not better.
I don't know why, but.
Yeah, there's not much to suggest.
I don't think that there's any reason to think they'd be worse unless the coach is the X factor.
If it goes sideways, then yeah, it can it can torpedo the whole thing.
But if he can just be a more assertive guy and keep the other stuff.
Well, and manage your bench better.
Noblock was terrible at it.
Well, we joked all the time.
Oh, so you're down in third?
Oh, so McDavid and drives together and just doubled.
He'd be up.
I was still.
I was always saying there was a game in L.A.
during the C, they're up six to or something and he's.
Yeah.
Regular shift.
Yeah.
What are you doing?
After the, what was the Four Nations tournament?
Yeah, that's right.
You're playing McDavid.
Yeah.
Saturday afternoon in Philly.
What?
No.
That could be that.
Well, we don't want, no one gets prefer.
differential treat, but we're all the same.
We gotta keep our...
Well, okay.
Poor Knobber.
I don't feel bad for Nobber.
Knobber's living his best life.
He's collecting four sitting on a beach.
He is, yeah.
For three more years.
Came close twice.
That would...
I guess that's the only thing you think about is...
Well, at least you had the chance.
Yeah. That's what you get to hear the rest of your life.
Oh, it's better to be there, right?
What an experience.
Shut up.
CFL, stampeters.
3026 loss at home to BC on Thursday.
They got Nathan Rourke in the end.
Tough.
Tough.
Turn over.
Kind of a rainy night of man.
They had a lead at the half.
And then Vernon Adams injured.
Diedrich Mills injured.
Dave afterwards is kind of like,
well, they look like head injuries.
So it's hard to know what we're looking at.
They get the buy.
As well as they've played, best offense.
They're still four and six.
It's a share of last in the West.
Get into playoffs, go from that.
They, of course, have the home and home Labor Day with the Elks.
Oh, and they're playing well.
They are.
Yeah.
Yep, they've turned it around.
There is a game before that, though, and that will be the next home game.
The Hamilton Tiger Cats.
Matinee at McMahon.
You know how I love a matinee, Jack.
1 p.m. kickoff says here, should be a great day.
Weather looks awesome.
It is the annual Family Day game.
opportunity bring the kids out it's kind of that last hurrah before they got to go back to school and
they get all pouty and you got to buy all the school supplies and stuff family day look at that happy
family the weather will be good it can be a great day that's the same day that's weird it'll be a
great day family day at the at the ballpark one o'clock that's not this saturday but next
saturday because they are on a buy Greg back the potatoes that's right uh and
NFL stuff is just, I don't know if you've been paying close attention.
No, I try not to.
NFL wound up.
I don't want to be like Jack can't sleep at night, analyze it.
You know, just everybody getting hurt.
Anyone you're excited about in the NFL, they're all getting hurt in training.
Too much training.
Too much.
Yeah.
Oh, this McCoy Lemon.
He's going to be great.
Out.
Jeremiah Love, this stud, ruddy.
Out.
Everybody's out.
That's where you get sneaky with the draft picks.
It's the weird thing with, with, and again, I'm not a football.
I've never played.
that whole thing.
It should be.
But it's like,
how come we're not practicing in pads?
We should be practicing.
Get ready for battle.
Then guys get hers.
Why are they in pads?
Why are they doing all?
They need to cut.
Why?
Get enough contact.
Yeah.
These guys,
your football players,
they don't have,
they know what they're doing.
But yeah.
Now,
granted,
I think the,
Jeremiah,
I love it happened in a game or whatever,
but it's hamstrings and groins and high ankle stuff.
Not great.
that's fine.
No one on the bills has hurt, so we're good.
Apparently, though, because you heard all the bitching and moaning out there about the,
I can't see from my seat seats,
there's some talk now that the grass,
the turf that they got in there.
It's real grass,
but it's kind of dying in some spots,
and they're having to reseed and it's chunking up.
And some of the players like,
hmm,
and I like that it's crap,
but I'm not sure.
Make it better.
That's what they're doing.
They got some time to make it better.
That's what they're saying.
Just give us some time.
Season's not starting today.
It's probably true.
Season's not starting today.
You know what your lawns like, Dean?
That's right.
Spent a lot of time tinkering, working on it.
That's right.
Do you get your tickets yet, Rhett?
I didn't.
I'm not going.
What?
What's happened?
What do you mean you're not going?
This was on the radar so long ago.
I'm not going.
Just drop it.
Okay.
I don't know why you guys.
Oh, geez.
It's just
Jack dropping.
All right.
It's a Pender report.
Let's move on.
During an interview with a German news outlet.
The Germans.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell was asked about NFL expansion to Europe.
Oh.
To which he responded, quote,
At some point, there will be NFL teams outside the U.S.
Too sweet.
I have no doubt that this will happen one day.
Really?
I don't know how I feel about it.
Obviously, the first thing that comes across,
don't like it, but maybe that's not fair.
Maybe there's something about it.
Earlier games.
I don't like the earlier games.
I wake up on Sunday.
It's like, oh shit, this game's already on.
You know what I mean?
I don't know.
I hate it.
But they've been doing it for years.
It's not like it's go with one team or would you go over there
and just to open up a whole division?
Yeah, I don't know.
What happens if some of the,
these dusters get in trouble over there and then they can't cross the board.
Dusters over there.
And they will.
They get up to all kinds of shenanigans.
Yes.
I've seen movies.
I've heard about what goes on over there.
You watched.
What's that Ted Lassow?
Yeah.
We heard what you were watching on your Starlink.
You may as soon as it invest on your favorite NHL teams in the stock market.
I did see that.
Did you see that?
Tell me more.
I don't know nothing.
I'm reading.
Somebody sent me this.
A new S.E.C.
see. I don't know what that stands for.
Filing proposes 32
ETFs tied to each team in the NHO,
which would allow fans to trade on teams
on-ice performance within the stock market.
The filing is still in a preliminary stage
without any official approval or launch date.
Well, I know my...
I'm a big investor.
I was going to say my experience with the stock market
has been nothing but positive, so count me in.
Can't wait.
Cabalry,
see. Remember last week
Pinder was in here. That's stinking forge. He hates
forge. Big matchup.
I think there was one point separate.
One two, one two, one two every year.
Come on now. And he wasn't
going because he's too emotional about it.
Massive two one win.
I think they were down one nil.
Bang bang. Two one doesn't
really do it justice. I know the shots on goal
and the scoring chances were through the roof of cavalry.
So a huge win over
Forge who now sit where
at the top of
of the table. That's where he should be, Tommy.
Tommy's got him at the top of the table. Now, Forge
does have a game in hand, but Calgary,
sorry, Calvary is two points clear
with 37 points.
And no rest. They just keep playing games.
This weekend,
Atletico, Ottawa is here.
In town. In town. Jack,
take the old man.
Take the old man. Yes.
Why not Saturday?
A little two-third. Saturday, August 22nd,
at CoField, Atletico, Ottawa.
You know what you should do after that?
Get a booking at that Fox Trot.
That's a fancy restaurant.
It's a nice little restaurant over.
That's Bruce Meadows.
Oh, okay.
Good spot.
I've never heard.
There's a lot going on down there.
There's a lot.
I know, we're kind of cheeky.
For you, Jack, or just for anybody,
if you've not gone to a game,
this is great.
That's great.
The season starts when it's very cold and snowy out,
and it ends when it's cold and snowy out.
But this is.
But Saturday at 2.30 will be prepared.
Oh, yeah, David Spence.
Partly Claudius Scott.
Let's call.
Anyway, that's the next one up.
And they do, the season, these guys are 27.
Beautiful.
Beauty.
And they travel.
The season is so long.
They play those other games for different league championships and stuff.
So much.
Meanwhile, Jay Hurdman, he is leaving Cavalry FC.
He has been transferred to Bali United FC of the Indonesian
Super League.
Wouldn't that be something to wake up?
That's right.
Going to Bali.
Okay.
Joined Calvary on loan from the White Caps in September of 24.
He was part of the CPL championship that November, signed on with Calvary in 25,
and now he's moving on.
So good luck to old Jay.
I could live in Bali.
Yeah, I mean, we could do that, right?
Just start doing the show.
What difference would?
I don't know what the time change is.
Who cares?
But all that's, but.
Vitamin D, the sun.
Yeah.
The older I get, the more I need the warm, warm weather.
The old bones, did I tell you about my legs?
Jeez, okay.
Get off the shitter.
It's currently 1.30 a.m. there.
You got the trainer?
No, I'm just kind of.
I listen to a Rogan on one of my long drives.
You listen to Rogan?
I was talking to somebody and he's like, just hire a trainer.
Yeah.
Quit thinking you're going to do it yourself.
Like, just hire a trainer.
They will do it for you.
just show up my wife is not happy because i am i'm near the front of the pack of the all or nothing
yeah if i if i start somethings i love this this is so freaking i need bikes he was a bicyclos i need to
buy all the stuff i need all the stuff i'm doing all the stuff let's go we're doing some two
a days my wife's like just what just would you stop like i don't need to be do i don't we don't
don't need kettle bells like 90 pound out great training just can you could we just do a little like
all right babe i just feel like we're going to spend 30 to 60 minutes doing something may as
well get the shit kicked out of us let's fucking do this just oh my god why mind you she's the one
that can get off the toilet good for her uh baseball blue jays are in tampa play the raise jays took
two or three from the yankees on the weekend didn't like that
over the
over the last number of years it's been
expand but the playoff
picked how it's expanded in major league baseball
used to be you win the pennant or you're effed
then there's wild cards and play-ins
and all this sort of thing
the jays I believe are last in the AL East
but are a half game back of the
final wild card
they're only a half game back now
you know that might have changed I was
because they were idle yesterday
and I was doing this last night
so that may have changed depending on
They've certain results.
But yeah,
from the trade deadline on,
they've been one of the better,
I think they're nine and five or something.
Yeah,
just a half game back.
Yeah.
Wow.
Wouldn't that be something if they made it last?
Yeah.
Playoff ball is hard to be.
And those play in games,
I know it's a lot,
your whole season comes down to one thing.
If it's,
if you care about the fans at all,
then it's awesome.
It's going on with Facebook, Jack.
Why is this showing up on my,
thing.
Are you mad at you?
Oh, this.
Remove.
Reboot.
Are people still doing Facebook?
You'd be surprised.
Yeah.
Like, yeah, there's people that watch on Facebook.
Really?
I don't know what the age demographic is for that.
Because it's not me or my dumb buddies.
Maybe we got kicked off for my toilet talk.
Maybe.
My potty mouth.
See what I did there?
Because we haven't shown any highlights or anything that would get us kicked off
Facebook.
Okay, Zuckerberg, calm down.
He wants his AI data center out here.
Better start seeing.
Nice.
That AI stuff.
You know what I saw this morning?
I saw it was one of those,
uh,
spoil like, hey, this is coming.
Uh, by next year,
the new Apple AirPods things are going to have cameras in them.
Unlike yours,
that would,
the bulbs went inside your head.
These go outside to teach Apple and AI about the surroundings.
So that,
And the example that they gave was if you are on GPS, you're getting, you know, you punch something in.
And I said, turn right at the next, turn right at the post office.
Turn left at the Tim Hortons.
It's too much.
I thought that might be something you would like.
More of your personal data and info and whereabouts being tracked.
So we've got to get some of those.
What do they call them in the States, the flock cameras or whatever, Jack?
What's going on?
Yeah, what are those?
I've heard about it.
flaw cameras.
Yeah,
they just spy on everyone.
Yeah.
I don't know what that is.
But if you're not doing anything wrong, right, Dean?
Yeah, if you've got nothing to hide.
Just picking my nose.
It doesn't look a good,
crunchy boog every once in a while.
Doesn't make a guy a bad guy, right?
Cameras.
In my earhole.
I don't know.
Yeah.
I don't use Apple anyway.
That's right.
Pete Crow Anderson.
PCA.
plays for the Cubbies.
Pinder, instead of, you know, tweeting about
second line power plays with the
Calgary Ranglers. He could have gone to a ballgame last night.
This is PCC, first
pitch of the ball game, last pitch of the ballgame.
Plus highest walk rate. It is a really good offense.
Here's the swing and a drive. Right field.
It's a really good offense because of that guy.
Pete Crow Armstrong.
What a thing about by PCA.
He pulls off what Midroth tried, the first pitch, ambush.
The two one.
Fly ball.
That's to right.
That's back.
That is gone.
Ball game.
PCA walks it off in the 10th.
And the Cubs.
knock out the socks
in 10.
Gets a Wrigley, Jack.
That looks like a time, Jack, dude.
Pete Crowe Armstrong of the Cubs,
the first MLB player with a lead-off
home run on the first pitch
that his team saw, and a
walk-off home run on the last pitch
his team saw in a game since
Vic Power in
1957.
Pitch one and final
pitch leaving the yard.
42 years. Yeah.
This guy is.
is electric. He's also a second player in history to have a lead off and a walk off in the same
game and the 10th player to have back to back 30 homer 30 stolen base seasons. He crushing it.
He'd be good in fantasy then. Yeah, he'd be pretty good stealing bags. And yeah, there was a
big scrap in the bleachers last night. So that's your cubby update. I think Pinder is going
to a game. I'm kind of trash talking about he is going to a game.
Matt Wilkinson.
He was born in Vancouver.
Kevin's brother?
I don't think so.
Kevin.
Kevin's from Frontier.
Who is the guy that played in the
played for the Jets?
Neil?
Neil Wilkinson, tough.
Tough butter.
This is Matt.
He's 23 years old, born in Vancouver,
but played for the dogs and went to high school in Okotoketsoaks for four years,
parts of four seasons.
He pitched at Canada at the World Baseball
classic. You may or may not remember this, but he's up against some big names here at the
WBC. Wilkinson looking for one, two, three eight. And he's got it with a high fast
ball against the big dumper. Tugboat gets dumper. Bryce Harper. Swing and a miss for strike three.
So to the bottom of the ninth we go, fastening those seats. So there he is.
They call him the tugboat, Red.
I like that is Matt Tugboat Wilkinson.
Drafted by Cleveland a few years ago,
was traded to San Francisco early this year,
got called up by the Giants yesterday.
He's expected to make his MLB debut at some time soon.
So another member of the Okotok's dogs.
He got a little taste.
He's a character.
He looks emotional.
He kind of stepped into the spotlight at the Little League World Series.
Like he struck out 10 guys.
just mowing guys down.
And he's, he has the nickname tugboat, of course.
So you're going to get a little 6.1.270.
Oh, is kind of what they're, what they're talking here.
This is from the USA Today.
At a very young age, Wilkinson's dad's best friend gave him the moniker after watching him run the bases.
The friend described the pace of Wilkinson's running as, quote, similar to that of a boat designed to to
toe larger ships.
Yes, that would be a tugboat.
Yeah, he's a big dude.
He's emotional.
He's a character.
He has his best pitch because I guess he tops out about 90,
91, which is not, you know, it's crazy,
but for Major League Baseball, it's,
he calls it the invisible because of,
it comes on hitters quicker than they expect.
It's about where he really,
really low release and good extensions.
So the tugboat and the invisible, a little taste of the Okotok's dogs getting set for the major leagues.
Damn dogs are Galeak team.
I know, yeah.
Yeah, Sylvan Lake.
Yeah, Sylvan Lake goals won the league.
Back to back.
Yeah.
They beat the dogs out.
Time to take a look in the mirror there.
Dogs.
We last week, you weren't here.
I was here.
We had Andrew McBride in, Andrew McBride.
long time friend of the show,
the old radio show would get Andrew in all the time,
was a member and a captain of the
Calgary Roughnecks.
He is in our fantasy football league,
which was called the media,
kind of the media,
not sure anybody's working on.
The media to change that up.
Anyway, the Minto Cup,
the junior A lacrosse.
I got to ask to talk about it,
but I told them that we weren't doing any shows.
It's all.
It started.
It's, well, we had Andrew in last week.
He kind of teed it up.
All the games are at Max Bell.
Started on Sunday.
Now, through two games, they're doing the round robin.
Four teams through the round robin.
Both the Calgary Raiders, which is whom McBride is the GM of.
And the Calgary Mountaineers both are two and oh with wins.
Home cooking.
Final day of the round robin play goes today.
Lots on the line here.
So the Victoria Shamrocks will play St.
Catharines.
The winner of that is going to advance.
The loser will be done.
The Raiders play the Mountaineers.
Calgary versus Calgary.
Boom, boom.
The winner goes right to the finals.
The loser will play in the semis against that Victoria St.
Catherine's winner in the two, three game tomorrow.
So two big games today with huge implications on the line.
I will get the times for you.
And then the final is the best of three.
So they'll play game one Friday night.
game two Saturday night,
game three if necessary on Sunday,
all games at MaxSpect.
I like that instead of just.
Right?
Mm-hmm.
We'll see you tomorrow.
We'll see you tomorrow.
So that's,
uh,
and it's a hundred and some years.
What did we say?
Do you remember Jack off the top of your head?
I mean, it's been around.
Hmm.
It's over a hundred years old.
What?
The Minto Cup.
The Minto Cup.
So four o'clock for the shamrocks and athletics in Victoria,
St. Catharines.
and then it looks like we're at 8, 8 o'clocker at the Ken Bracco Arena at Max Bell,
the Raiders and the Mountaineers, both at 2 and 0, 125 years old.
There you go.
It's a long time.
That's the, she'll be a dandy.
I'm going to take my kid.
I'm going to try and take my kid.
Yeah, I don't believe you, but I hope you do.
I have a 15-year-old daughter.
Making life enjoyable for you?
just it's a different it's a different house that I live in now yeah it's not yours no yeah
when you used to ask if you know do I okay yeah okay I don't think so that's no do you think you
could do no like no I'm not like no I'm not the answer is no okay all righty that's already
good talk that I say sorry yeah good talk then so congrats to uh to the local
teams and everybody over it took up running through the end of the week this one here uh now the
three eagles of the bc jhl they released some jerseys online earlier this week and there is some
debate as to what we're seeing here uh because you do you should do a jersey reveal for
jerseys that you're going to wear and at some point these jerseys did not receive a very positive
reaction. Is this real? My belief is this is real. Now here's the question. So there you see it.
City of Surrey. Now Surrey's tough town. Tough town. Surrey. On the shoulder. So you can see the city,
the skyline and all of that. The reaction was very negative. People were very unhappy and unflattering
with their comments about these jerseys.
Now the,
whatever, the president of the GM is like,
hey, hey, this is just,
this was to kind of celebrate
kind of a thing with city council.
We're not wearing these in a game.
This is just right.
I'm not going to put these on our part.
Yeah, we would never wear these.
So now it's like, did they pivot hard
after it was a 99.9% over the top?
We hate these things.
It's like, ooh.
I would be with the people that voted,
to say they hate them.
That's a tough sell.
Yeah.
If that one's hanging and you got other choices.
Yeah.
And it's almost to the point I might believe them because it doesn't look like anything.
You'd make a person wear in a competitive sport or believe that you're going to sell.
Yeah.
Well, that's nice.
Office building.
Yeah.
We've got some buildings in the background.
And see, there's clouds on the sleeves.
I love the city.
That's really nice.
so I
hope this was just kind of a
yeah give one to the mayor
and hang one in the city hall
and then never speak of them again
but people that's the one thing
people are always very opinionated on
is sports jerseys
the islanders right now are doing something
they're bringing back
they're doing us
so they got the players involved
I think to kind of cushion the blow
and say hey I like this
and this looks okay
like this is so stupid
people hate jerseys or love jerseys
or go
I just hope works up
I see the islanders one
I think they
They're still picking.
They've got it down to two, I believe.
I don't know.
They all just look at this.
It says Islanders on it and red and orange and white and New York.
I hope it's got red.
That said, I know how I feel about that Flames jersey with that new patch in the shoulder.
God, where can the guys see one?
Are they available?
Can you get, Jack, could you call the Flames?
You should do a stand-up show and then maybe.
Yeah.
By the fanatic.
Or John at the dome for boom and get them.
I'm sure they'd love to.
present you some of the fellas.
Is there stuff we should do for the dome this year?
Should we try and do some commemorative things, shows, talk to people, do different things?
Sounds boring.
Again, but it's me and you.
I don't have the same attached.
There are some people that are very attached to that building.
Like you talk to Pinder.
Like he grew up in Calgary.
He loves it.
They'll be very sad to see.
And I said, the skyline to me will look.
I will miss the view of seeing it there because it is its own thing.
But as far as, I mean, I worked there for so many years.
It was kind of my office.
It's like cinder blocks and stink.
Yeah, it's, right?
You can't really talk about it because once you're downstairs, down below and it's a cavern.
It's like a, but if you go there and just enjoy games and have pocket dogs and ice cream, yeah, it's different.
It's a different deal, I guess.
Again, I don't think it was the building that made the memories.
One of the same, though.
It all kind of ties together.
So what did you want to do, boom?
He doesn't want to do anything.
He's not going to.
No, because I do, honestly, we are not the people to talk to.
But there's a lot of, oh, I've got to get to a game.
What's one thing you want to get from the dome?
Remember when, because Flames Nation, they're doing their top memories from the, from the dome.
Remember when McTabish pulled out
Harvey's tongue is the
I don't know
I'm just thinking out loud
for the fans would they have
part of the reason I'm not going to the Bell's home
opener because it's a
new stadium but guess what
the next game
they'll play in that
they're going to play there again again
yeah well that's what I think
yeah that's why it's which one you
want to go to the last one in the dome
or the first and a new one is the dome
yeah
I've experienced
trying to take a whiz in between periods.
Yeah.
What's that?
What was it like?
What was it like?
What was it like?
I did like it over the last,
I'll call it a decade when they started to dabble in a little higher end of food.
Some of the things they produced were phenomenal.
The malt.
I'll tell you,
we did a game there last year.
We took some sponsors.
And I do.
I give credit,
so much credit to the people who,
are behind the scenes trying to make things work with an old building that just doesn't
that just isn't built for it and was flooded out completely flooded and probably should have
been torn down then but they resurrected the thing that is some of Ken King's finest work how he
managed to get that thing back for Stampede he just said I'm not here yeah he just was on everybody
24-7 non-stop but yeah I do I I I do I
I do see it.
I see that there are,
people do have ties to it and they love that building and it's hard for us to see it.
Anyway,
and you're not from here,
Jack,
you're from Pittsburgh.
Imagine the igloo.
Yeah.
No.
Oh,
like,
the house I grew up in was nothing to look at either.
So I guess I had emotional attachment to that.
So.
Yeah.
It's like your first car.
Maybe it was a S box and you think about,
I had great times in that.
No, you didn't.
It was terrible.
Is anybody saying anything about it?
Because I do think.
Anyway, that's the Pinder Report for today.
That was not a tiny morsel of a cinnamon bun pender report.
That was really bounced around.
Yeah, there was a lot of it there.
I don't know how much substance there was.
Well, you ripped on Dave.
I didn't rip on Dave.
I feel badly for Dave.
You attacked, Dave.
The Pinda Report of presentation of Ville.
VillageHonda.
VillageHonda.com that show and the sixth annual show and shine from noon till 4 August the 22nd.
It's 10 bucks if you want to register.
It's free if you want to attend up at the dealership.
They'll have the parking lot full.
Best off make, best modified, best classic, best in show.
And money coming in is going to go to kids sport, helping give more kids the opportunity to play organized sports.
VillageHonda.com.
I see that too.
kids got to play sports
you got to get kids playing sports
got to
your kids play sports
uh
the oldest did
the middle guy you know it's one of
honestly one of those things i wish we would have
because he we tried him in everything
he didn't really
didn't love gravitate towards one
which made it hard
now he's listening to motley crew
and sleeping
it's probably not fair
but um
I was going to ask you about
you talk about kids getting out and stuff.
I think we're going backwards
because I see no end
of kids on motorized scooters.
Like no one's riding bikes anymore.
They're not using real scooters.
It's all just...
Why work?
Am I wrong, Jack?
In Cranston, there's a million of these motorized bike things
and they fly on them.
The motorized bike is a real thing too
because people that go mountain biking, guess what they have now?
Motorers.
It's crazy.
And they're wicked.
They're wicked.
They're wicked. But they go fast.
Yeah.
It goes against what it's going to be in 30 years.
The mall is just going to be full.
Everyone's going to have a motorized part because that's all we've been doing.
I think it'll be motorized for sure, but there won't be standing.
That standing is too big.
I saw that there's two kids on them.
How safe is that bloody thing?
What do you mean?
We used to double on the bike.
She's.
Yeah.
Handlebars are.
Posts on the back.
Posts on the back.
Then you get the 10 speed that's got the gears.
Like, well, I can't stand in the posts now.
This is the shit.
Get your old bike back.
Yeah, it's tough being a kid these days.
Poor kids.
No, it's not.
My daughter's got this thing where it's like the hoverboard,
which nearly cost you your life.
But you strap it to a seat.
Yep.
And then there's the handles.
I've got it.
Kind of pull back and forth.
I should have went on that.
Should have gone on that.
Yeah, at least you're seated.
Have you seen those, Jack?
Oh, yeah.
It's like it's a plastic seat that essentially you sit on top of the hoverboard with handles
and you pull the handles and it does the tilting back and forth,
slowing down, speeding up of the of the hoverboard.
Not seen that.
Can you drive it drunk?
That's what Jack's one.
Get home from the pub.
It's safe.
And the answer, Jack, is no.
I could barely get home on my own two feet.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Not alone one of those scooter things.
I've never been on one of those scooters.
No?
No.
Don't.
But even the, like the, the lime ones and the ones.
No.
Because I feel like I see some of the riffraff that are wheeling around on them.
Yeah, exactly.
Like, I should be able to.
You should, but fine motor skills are not good.
I dreamt I was playing hockey last night and I couldn't skate backwards.
Like I was trying to play a two-on-one.
Oh, no.
Terrible.
Signed a new contract.
Hadn't played in a while.
Holy, this is way harder.
I still got her.
Rocky View Hockey Academy.

Visit the website, register so that they know you're coming.
They want to make sure they have it organized
and know how many people are coming in.
So again, register for your spot
at Rocky Viewhockeyacademy.com.
Just to train there with old Richie Health Club.
Is that right?
Yeah, there is a nice spot up there.
Was that Simon's Valley?
Yeah.
Didn't like them though.
No.
We'd come all the way from the south, have to drive up there,
tire us out and put up those Simon's,
Salmon's Valley people.
I did have an awkward exchange one time.
Nothing to do with the Rocky View Hockey Academy, though.
Nothing to do with that.
It was a coach.
And I like to think he had it coming.
But in there on the one rink, they've got like the high,
there's the stands, I think,
and then there's the very top, tippy top where you can stand along,
the bar and I guess I said something to the coach casual though oh who did one of those then I'm
like oh boy I can either shrink or I can double down so I definitely doubled down so yeah that's right
and then inevitably you all kind of meet down in the lobby area as you wait for your kid to come
hard to avoid yeah yeah hard to avoid sometimes people go looking for each other in those
sometimes yeah areas yeah
I've seen a coach.
One of my kids' coaches get the boot out of that rink.
Really?
Didn't like the refin.
Could he just kind of?
Didn't like the ref and didn't like the other coach?
Could he go down the tunnel?
Or do you have to do the across the ice walk or around?
He was,
he didn't have to cross the,
you was safe that way.
Yeah.
That's always the walk of shame.
Yeah, you don't want to get booted then.
You're going to plan out your emotional.
You know what?
That's got,
it's got to be part of your game prep as a coach.
Okay.
Okay.
we're going to flip my lid am i starting lot who's starting to met what's our top and if i do get
thrown out am i going to have to oh boy i'd have to go across the ice yeah i can't say shit today i got
to keep it real quick i got to keep close to the vest today uh hey uh want to remind you about greta
like i told you i took the kid there i said what is this what is this so it's a bar and there's
food and video games.
Heaven. How have you not told, well, you need, yeah.
I mean, if you want to go in and have some drinks and that, you've got to be 18 years
of old, years of age. But I would think now if maybe you've got family in town or it's
the end of summer and you're kind of like, oh, we've kind of done all this stories.
Maybe you've not gone to Greta.
You've probably been before, but maybe this summer you haven't gone to Greta.
It's time to get back there.
2.13, 10th Avenue, Southwest, let the games begin.
They got the street food menu.
I think it was the Aaron Cheney Bowls.
Have you ever had Aaron Cheney balls, Jack?
Oh, yeah.
Shouldn't be that good.
No, it's odd where you're like,
just like, what is it?
So rice and what's, I guess some cheese in there
and then they ball it up and deep fry it
and put it with some mariner?
Mariner.
Weekly drink specials.
It's all going on at Greta.
I give Casey credit.
I say this all the time.
We had them in at the radio station.
Yeah, Casey from,
he's going to come in and talk about this thing he's opening.
And what is it?
well they're going to have like street food
I don't know the street food
yeah like street food snacks
just kind of like snacky stuff
and it'll be a bar
but there's video games in it
this will never play
don't don't tell them I said this
but this is a terrible idea
yeah bring them in we'll talk about it I suppose
but I don't know what the hell this I don't know what Casey's
thinking that was about 15 20 years ago
just one of the hottest places downtown
they've got the past
radio, the retractable roof, the video games, meet up with friends, set up a, get, like, end of sun, whatever.
It's Greta Y Y, Y, C. Greta Y Y, C. Arcade games, fun, man.
Oh, yeah.
I probably sweat a little more than the guy should, though.
Get that into it?
Yeah.
You and Commodore?
Shit ya.
No one leaks like Commodore.
No one leaks like our friend.
Seems like he's doing well.
It's been pretty quiet on the Commodore Badcock.
front when they threaten him yeah lawsuit i don't know yeah it was something along those lines i don't
really call them called mccled law he's it yeah that's right that's right let's uh let's do some bets shall we
yeah do some bets for bet three six five you find my thing here i didn't staple my i didn't staple my
paper so i'm kind of a little disorganized here it's bet three six five just got here they're here in
Alberta and they're here to stay.

so I try to keep them happy, and I also try to keep
all of us happy. So Jays are my team. You know me?
Me and Donaldson. Yeah, you're a huge Jay guy.
You got a Yankees guy. Am I right?
Where's Pinder?
He's in Chicago right now.
He's going to be watching the Cubs and the White Sox.
I'm going Cubbies at Wrigley and Jack
and his famed Pittsburgh.
I feel like you did this a couple weeks ago
and the pirates were like losing
6-1 before even got to the bet.
I think it was opening day.
I think it was opening day
that bad happens, Jack.
They're already down 6-1.
I feel much, I feel much better about this one.
Yeah.
So we're doing a four-leggar.
Good.
Come on, Jay's get in the playoffs.
Damn it.
And then the other Canadian sport
to say the bombers play the elks
and I hate the elks.
The festival.
Yeah.
capital of the world. So we can't go with them. And my beloved riders, doesn't matter who they're
playing. No, they're playing BC. B.C. Yes, they'll s pump them. I like it. Two likes. There you go.
Bet three, six five. Again, I think everybody's aware of the news, but earlier this year, the, uh,
the gaming online from your phone here in Alberta, it has arrived. And I've always, we've just always
gravitated toward bet three, six five. We started working with them.
The app is great.
I show it to people and they absolutely love it.
Yep.
The app is,
I don't need things to be any more complicated.
I don't need unnecessary complications in my life.
And the Bed 365 app is perfect.
I've got it all set up.
NFL seasons right around the corner.
Some futures for the national hockey league.
A lot about going on there,
but it's a little early.
It's a little early.
But the key there again is responsible.
Just have some fun.
Include some of your buddies,
have some laughs.
Jack and your dumb.
buddies, you pick field goals in every game in the football Sunday.
I can't wait to do that, actually.
I forgot about that.
I know.
Yeah.
That is the funnest bet.
Just 12 dudes packed into a room betting on field.
Shearing for field goals.
I don't know if it's the, as you say, funest.
It is fun.
But it is fun.
There's no question about it.
Yeah, football starts later this year, I think.
right?
Yeah, not until the...
Not much later though.
Not a lot.
A week or so?
Our draft is always on the same day that I can never attend.
The 9th, September 9th.
Yeah, which I think is a little later.
Yeah, it feels like Labor Day is on like a...
It's like a...
It's not.
Yeah, NFL's starting a week later this year.
No, it's not.
Okay.
It's always after an anniversary.
It's on the same day every year.
That is on the same day every year, yeah.
That's it, Dean.
Well, it's kind of it, yeah.
Kind of it.
Go sign up for the,
go to nationgear.ca.
Take a look at the,
the nation,
the stuff that we got going there.
The off season social club
with level wear.
This has been a massive hit in my circle.
I,
listen,
here's the thing.
The level wear stuff is real comfortable stuff.
I had the golf shirt on,
I guess,
whatever day it was last.
I just wore it on the weekend
because it felt good.
I'm wearing the hat.
You know what?
To beat the band.
I yelled at my kid yesterday.
I said,
Who the F said you can steal the hat.
Yeah.
I got the hat.
It's like, we'll save it and wear it on the show because it's branded that.
I'm just wearing it.
I'm wearing it on the head.
Because you're looking good.
And I'll tell you, when the, when the temperatures start to dip, I'll be wearing that hoodie.
You'd try and get me out of it.
You're not going to be able to.
Now I'm not going to show.
Nationgear.ca for that.
And Jack has been working on some barn burner stuff.
We always got a joke about it and whatever, but Jackie's been kind of work.
We've had some ideas, some fun, dumb.
idea for some dumb shirts that are very
if you don't follow the show
it'll be like what is that about what does that mean
but if you do follow the show you'll enjoy it
so that'll be coming up at nation gear
coming up in January it's the
Jasper pond hockey tournament details for that
at nationgear.cate so go slide by
there and see what's going on more stuff coming
probably within the next month and change
as we get back to back to business
pinner we're again
bad mouthing pinder jack was saying pinter's ready
to start doing five days a week he
wants to get doing shows like right away.
It's like, no.
There's no need.
We're doing two a week.
That's one vote and that's, we're doing two a week.
It's like, now what, what would we do tomorrow?
I explained to Jack on the right end that Pinder doesn't want to work, but his kids will be back in school so he doesn't know what to do with him.
That's what it is, right?
That's all it is.
He'd rather go run.
Yeah, he's saying the kids start school like late August this year because it's usually after Labor Day, I thought.
Well, it should be, but it's not.
But anyway.
He's amazingly.
tune with the Calgary school board schedule.
Well, in February, well, I think that's the long weekend.
How do you know this stuff?
How do you know what day?
Because like Jack said on the way in, Pinder doesn't like to not do things.
No, he can't do nothing.
He likes to have things organized and be active.
Idle time is his enemy.
It really is.
Can you just sit down and shut up for a bit?
You saw what happened with idle time.
He's on vacation.
He had five minutes of idle time.
You read Corey Prawnman's breakdown of every NHL team's.
Oh, geez, I look at the top 30 prospects in the system.
I must do that now.
Put your phone down.
Talk to your wife.
Be a husband.
Coming up on Thursday, the next show.
We're doing a show Thursday?
Well, here's what's happening on Thursday.
Okay.
Tell me.
People are either going to really like it.
They're going to really enjoy it or have no idea what it is and will have no use for it whatsoever.
Okay.
Tell me. Tell me more.
I'll find out what side of the...
I sat down because recently
kind of...
And again, it's been, it was depressing news.
Sportsnet 960, our old radio station,
shut the door. Just one day.
Boom. Everybody out.
The station went from Maddie Rose talking to static.
And static is what will be there forever, I guess.
I had a chat with Kelly Kirsch about the rise,
the birth, the rise, the fall, the characters that pass through the building,
and the ultimate death sentence for AM Sports Talk Radio over at SportsNet 960.
I can listen to Kelly Kirsch.
How it, because there was stuff even, I worked there for however long,
friggin 15 years.
There's stuff I, I didn't realize that's how that came to be or how he came to be hired
or how that's, that sort of thing was.
the room that we worked in
why did it have to be that way
didn't
the hot stove lounge
the 04 run
Mike Richards coming in
all that sort of thing
we get into so yeah if you
if you're not in Calgary and you've never listened to the station
it's like this does nothing for me
but if you like that sort of thing
and some good stories
even talk about retro the night of your roast
came up oh
and how high as balls basically were between being really sick on medication and hammered.
It was quite a combination.
How it all kind of intersected and what that meant for the night and for you and for all of us.
Yeah, I wish I'd have felt better.
He spoke very highly of you.
Kelly did.
No spoiler alerts, but I'll have to tune in for, uh, I love hearing accolades.
Not many former athletes can convey personality and that sort of thing as easily perhaps maybe as you did.
Some guys are still very stuffy and all.
I can't really kind of.
Maybe still, maybe you have more relaxing to do.
Maybe if we can get you to come out of your shell a little bit.
Got to work on it.
Yeah.
It's always, you know, you're never satisfied with who you are, Dean.
All these personal journeys and growth to be had.
We'll work on it.
We'll work on it.
Jack, let's go for a drink.
Yeah, that's right.
We had a super chat earlier.
We'll do one more here.
for the youth centers of Calgary
hey retro rank the tough guys
so lot guys here
McCarthy Oliwa,
Barubi, Simon McGrathen,
Jackman and Warner.
Well Jackman and Warner aren't tough guys
so they're off the list.
Willing to do it and credit to them.
Oh yeah, I've scrapped
but aren't tough guys. You didn't go into
another team's building
and their other teams go,
oh, shit.
There's Jackman and Warner.
Damn it.
The other five certainly are.
That is a list.
All five.
Ruby Simon McGratton,
Oluwock McCarthy.
Oh, Sandy, not McCarty.
I was thinking McCarty.
No, Sandy McCarthy.
I don't know that the...
I will say slouch.
Be careful.
Like, as you're listing these
and ranking...
some of these guys is less tough than the other.
Burubi would be the smallest but fought the most.
Yeah.
Oddly enough.
Sy was scary lefty.
Sandy was scary.
Yeah.
I watched Oliwa in his prime.
That one year he was here.
He was hurting people.
Yeah.
And McGratton loved it.
Like that's, I feel like Oliwa hurt people.
Like he was a punisher.
McGratton loved it and was very good at it.
But yeah, like Simon and Oliwa, scary.
Yeah.
On the edge of Scary Tough.
And you underrest of, well, or Ruby.
Like, oh, yeah, yeah.
There's no.
Yeah, he'll, he'll end your night.
I think when you're in that league, it depends on the day.
You know what I mean?
Yeah.
That, and I think it's because of, uh, uh, whatever, anyway.
In the last couple of weeks, that game against, I think it was Anaheim, that classic where Barubi is near the end and things have gone haywire.
Berubi is in the penalty box.
It's what coincidental penalties.
So they can't come out until there's a whistle, right?
And why this is coming up?
It's because of Sawyer.
Kevin Sawyer.
Yeah.
That's right.
Kevin Sawyer is expected.
It hasn't been announced, but is expected to be the new color analyst.
on Flames television, which I want to mention that before we go to.
Let me remember.
So, yeah, it's a big Donnybrook and Sawyer has run into Mike Vernon.
Yeah, right near the end.
Yeah, like he's back in Calgary.
He gets run and things are going crazy.
But Ruby is in the penalty box and it's coincidentals and it's right near the end of the hockey game.
So he wants to be somebody.
Time's running out, but they're not going to get out because it's coincidentals
and you don't get out until the whistle hits.
Dave Lowry has the puck on his stick, sees the clock going down,
and flips the puck into the crowd before there was a penalty for it,
just foop, whistle, out comes Barubi,
and they drop the puck.
Smiling, just pumped to be back.
I'm getting somebody.
Thank you, Dave.
I love you, buddy, and I'm getting somebody.
That somebody was Jeff Friesl.
Yeah, Greg Gilbert, I think was the coach then.
Never have you seen a coach less in control.
his bench. It's like so
Barup, okay, so Dave, you're going to fire that.
Okay, so Barubi, you're going to, oh, so you're going to take the
okay, yeah, just like two guys left on the bench.
It's just been a complete Donnybrook.
Yeah, Barubi.
Played in Philly.
They would have loved him there.
Yeah.
So there you go.
I think you got out of that without, uh,
I fought him in Philly.
You fought Baruch.
Oh, that's right.
What were you thinking?
Well, I was trying to have, I just got and traded to Buffalo, so I'm like, you know, see if the guy's life.
I didn't get beat up.
Didn't he say something to you?
He said, Warner, you're strong.
I said, chief, I drink whiskey too.
That's right.
That's today's, Jack, how was the show today?
You know what?
It was pretty solid.
Jack was not excited for the show, Dr.
Oh, I was a little worried.
I don't know what Jack's been doing, because usually I can kind of see his head.
He's facing towards us, so he's part, but then when he's not, he's too inside, but he's, I'm like dealing with interview things.
I've seen the side of his head a lot.
It's like, that's why you like to show.
Luckily, you're not really paying attention to it.
Before we go, though, today is Tuesday.
It's launch.
Tacos?
Taco Tuesday.
Should be good.
You're driving.
Taco Tuesday.
You're dry.
Yeah, he is driving.
Why is he driving you around?
Yeah.
Dumb kids, right?
Is that what?
That's what it comes down to.
Absolutely.
Oh my God.
There's a little emblem down there.
Taco Time.
Text Max.
Taka.
Taka.
Taka.
So good.
For 40 years, we passionately deliver on TakaTimes.
Original recipes, fast, friendly service.
Oh.
Oh, we used to go to Tocatime across from Bishop Mahoney.
Oh, so good.
Bishop Mahoney.
It's cool.
Unlimited beef or veggie tacos $2.25 each.
every Tuesday.
You know who loved Taco Time?
Who's a Sean Yak-a-Mission.
That tracks.
Holy yak.
Hard shell or soft shell?
I kind of like to do both.
But if I had to pick one, I go soft.
The thing I like, I go a hard shell.
Because sometimes when you do it at home,
you're getting it out of a box.
It's been in that wrapper for a little bit.
It's kind of, if I'd have a bit of,
And sometimes if it's sitting around and if it's humid, it gets, I want a crisp.
I want it fresh.
And that's what you get when you get a taco.
Here's the answer.
If you're pulling in to talk with time and you're going to sit your ass down, you get the hard talk.
Yeah.
If you're on a long road trip, it's off.
I think you have to go soft.
Okay.
So I'm going to have to do Mexico fries with the hot sauce.
I want the loaded ones.
You want the loaded ones?
I love the loaded mecca.
Yeah.
With the sour cream on there and the beef and the tomatoes.
Yeah.
Yeah.
there you go home of the original taco Tuesday it is taco time two dollars and 25 cents each unlimited
are you hungry jack like what would be the number today if we leave here you do whatever it is
you ought to do i don't even know what you do in general but so you leave here it's like yeah i'm
going to slide by taco time what's the number how many six wow i could do six six and a nice
nap this afternoon nice i like that i was going to i was going to say three three these things
here. Hey, those, it's like the beef that they, the crisp meat burrito that they've
that they lop into bites. Yeah, they lop into the, huh. Why? Did you have to at the end? Yeah. I got
stuff, I've probably got stuff to do today. Now I got to. Those damn churros. Yeah.
Do that all for you? Would you like some churos to? Yeah, yeah, I do. I do want some, yeah,
cinnamon sugar and yeah, yeah, throw some of those in there. To me a couple of them.
trying to get my daughter's good books.
Yeah.
Thank you,
Taco Time.
Good job, Jack.
I appreciate it.
This very astute.
Good thinking.
But I do want to say,
and look at us going now.
You haven't got anywhere to be to you.
Can't get anywhere.
Kelly Rudy spent many,
many years with SportsNet and Hockey Night in Canada.
He released the video.
It might have been,
it was last week,
I guess,
maybe a little bit more,
that his contract wasn't being renewed from SportsNet.
And after many,
many years,
I remember they had,
had the behind the mask.
Yes.
He would do stuff in intermissions on hockey night in Canada and then was doing panel work.
And then took over after Charlie Simmer left on the sports that broadcasts and was doing color for a long time.
I mean, tons of years.
People forget, I think, how great a goalie he was.
Those Islander and then L.A. King days.
The way to watch his highlights is amazing.
Go and Google Kelly Rudy, L.A. Kings, the bandana, the Hollywood helmet, the two-pad stacks, the diving all over the place.
Isn't he the goalie in that Washington?
He was in up until recently. I think that got surpassed, right?
The longest game in NHL history.
I remember being at my grandpa's watching that game.
I was at my cousins in Flynn, Flan, Manitoba.
Bob Mason for the capitals, Kelly Rudy for the Islanders.
It went into many, many overtimes, and then Pat LaFontaine, a little spin and fire.
Yep.
And Mason never really saw it.
I think it probably was kind of right along the ice,
hit the back of the net, and it was over.
He was in that one.
But yeah, so, no, he says he's not retiring,
but he's been a big part of Flames fans watching and listening for a long,
long, long time.
So Kelly Rudy, here's to you.
Have a taco, Kelly.
Have a, I'll slide you.
Don't, treat yourself.
I'll, uh, get two.
I'll slide you the five bucks on the, uh, on the interact.
I'll send it over to you.
Nice.
To the rest of you, have a great rest of your week.
enjoy the show on Thursday.
And I'm not here next week.
Oh, no.
So Pindra will have us in here just.
Yeah, he'll have some,
some charts and graphs and heat maps
and a very different show.
He'll have all that going for you next week.
So look forward to that.
How do I end this thing again?
All right.
See you, buddies.
