couple hours oh well i i had the completed product photograph by 120 p.m. and we had finished maybe our 65 minutes prior to that i was i was very motivated i knew i had the cream i knew i had all the ingredients that i needed in the fridge how good is i feel there's the retro oh yeah look at this now you don't have to use the stand mixer i just did you just i use the hand mixer but I will say that. And again, it was one of the first things we talked about when I got to the studio today.

How good was that? The reviews. Very good. Are we comfortable sharing on the show? I got yelled at because I took it on a road trip. That's how good it was. And the other person was like, came home. Ready to dig in?

Well, that's the real world. Dean owes you four pizzas. I owe you 14 pizzas. Four pizzas because you're ignorant and you cheer for the Broncos. I was not cheering for the Broncos. I just thought, was it eight and a half?

Is that what the line was? Bill's going to win this thing. Well, how to go for you. Not great. Good first drive. Yeah. It's like,

The best game was last night. Yeah. Awesome. But it took us all the way until that game before it was like, there's one we'll remember. All the others are like, And I feel like tonight might be a good one too.

I thought that about some of the other ones. I thought that the Eagles and Packers was going to be great. And it really was kind of a slog. No, we kept waiting for the Packers to do something. And then their top three receivers were out by, what, the third quarter? You're like, yeah, I don't know, this is going to happen. Almost like the Broncos bills yesterday on Saturday. The Chargers took a lead, looked good early, and then got thumped by the Texas.

That made a really good point. Like, their lives are in disarray. Yeah, not only are they not able to practice all week getting into the playoffs, but like, yeah, where are their wives and children and families? Surrounded by wildfire, if not evacuated. Wow, they would be evacuated. I'm sure they're safe. Point being, like, you think you're going to have some check-ins if everyone's been evacuated?

Like, where are they? What are we doing? Do we have this stuff? Like, but really what you saw was a team that had their way for most of the first half and did nothing with it. two field goals, a turnover, and then one drive from Houston at the end, and you're like, of course they're trailing.

There's emotion in that. I know I can. Last we checked, they were up 27-0 nothing on the Jaguars in a playoff game. This is not a one-off. This is two in a row where you've been in control, and, you know, very different,

but brutal second halves in both. Like, doors blown off. Be tough to be a Bucks fan, watching that one play out last night. That's a good game back and forth. It's a good game. Turnovers. Turnover, turnover, off the upright and in.

The doinkin in is exceptional. Yeah. We got some clips. Bad doin. The pit are standing in the rink in the whatever. When you see the video we have, you'll understand why it was doink. Yeah. The kicker was.

You kind of talked about the game coming up for the bills and who they play. but I don't for us anybody on with this show that's all eyes were kind of on the Steelers on the weekend against the Ravens and you had that video last on the Pinder report about how Steelers fan on Monday we're we're screw this is terrible by Tuesday you know I'll check for my team Wednesday you know pickens is back then that changes things and by Friday it's we haven't shown the many things I don't know what's got he's always coaching

horrible well and the ravens were the ravens the lord oh is that do they call that they flexed yeah they flexed whatever why are we even talking about i mean jack yeah i mean i should have expected it i had fully bought into the steelers winning until the opening kickoff where the steelers win the the coin toss and they elect to receive and i went oh no Kickoff? Yeah. And they never do that. They always defer. They take the ball. They go three and out. And Lamar and Henry run it down their throat. Every single play. The Steelers have never seen a read option. They let T.J. Watt go right at the quarterback. Every play. Lamar just keeps it runs. The second half, Derek Henry ran all over them. Like 200 yards, two touchdowns destroyed them. The offense was horrible. Wilson can go. I don't need to see. Oh, Russie. Come on.

Cush it for us. Give it some time, Jack. It's so fresh. It was what we expected. Well, he's talking about sending Tomlin on the Dave Cameron ship. Yeah, he can go to. Oh, my goodness. See, and that's the overreaction to me.

No, it's not, Ryan, because it's been eight years since they won a playoff game. And not only did they not win, they get killed every single game. They never show up until it's too late. And it's lamezy. Who is the best quarterback he's had in those eight years? Maybe Russell Wilson. And that's why I don't put it on Mike Tomlin. He made the playoffs with,

I don't think any other coach in the league makes the playoffs with those two quarterbacks. Maybe not. But when? So they need to go get a quarterback. They don't need to change a coach. But why haven't they got a quarterback to? Well, that's the GM's question, not the coaches.

Yeah, but the coach has to work with the quarterback. And they're guys like, he's got to put him in a position where they can do well, too. Yeah, Mason, Rudolph, Kenny Pickett, Justin Field. Russell Wilson, old, broken, Ben Rothesburg. He's had nothing at quarterback. And I'm not saying that it's a league trend where these guys don't turn out. So it's not just, I just find it odd.

I do too. I saw a stat. Doug Peterson has been hired, won a Super Bowl, fired, re-hired, and fired again all in the time that Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game. Oh, my. The challenge, I really think is Kirstein,

is that he gets these teams in that aren't that good. Well, that's the thing. On the surface, they, they, they, they, they, they, they were not better than the Ravens. Of course not. If they were going to beat them, was going to have to be some by hook or by crook, some chook, something was going to have to go sideways. So I get it that it's what, 2016 is at the, whenever it is. I just, I feel like this is one of those occasions where you need to just have some so, just,

just take a breath. Because, yes, it's a bunch of, they got, they got, they got the doors blown off, but they weren't going to beat the Ravens with the Ravens. with the Ravens playing that way. They pissed their pants on the way into the playoffs. Yeah. And they were supposed to have an elite D. There was nothing elite about that defense.

Yes. Yesterday. But for Tomlin, I feel like this one you have to just, yes, it's a losing streak in the playoffs and all of that. Who are we going to be? How good was this team?

Any of them? Like, when did they lose a playoff game? They should have won. But they were good for a while. They were 10 and 3 and they were just coming off a win against the Ravens. It played nobody pretty much. They beat the Raven.

That was it. That's the team they lost. Yeah, I get it. But it's like, we talked about it all year. That schedule was so fraudulent that they played. You did. You made good points. Well,

the other show we're talking to. Yeah. Anyway. I would definitely think if you change Mike Tomlin in three years, you'd be wishing you kept Mike Tomlin. That's my feel on it. Like Mike Tomlin find another job. No sweat.

Oh, yeah. Probably. No sweat. Yeah. He'd find a gig. So anyway, that's, so now, so now, You get the Ravens, Bills fan. I obviously live, breathe, and will die with my bills, but who don't like it.

Preferer an easier matchup. And the stupid Houston goes to Kansas City. Kansas City, man, they're going to get all the way to the semifinals and are still, I haven't beaten them. Houston's going to shock them. I hope so. God, I would love that. Yep.

What's the opening line? Fat cat, fat read, whatever. you would call it. I love Andy Reed. Sorry. He would eat. We could deal pickle dip together. Yeah. Yeah. I almost have more respect for what they're doing this year.

Their defense is spectacular. They're not put, whether they, they haven't scored 30 or whatever that's that is. They find ways to win. I mean, what more is the mark of a champion than not being at your best and you still get it done. Yeah, there's some fluke stuff too. There's some bad mispass

interference. One of that matters. That happens almost never. It's playoffs for them. But they're at that position at the end of the fourth quarter for that flu. Raiders. Yeah. Like they've almost lost some really bad teams. That's why I honestly believe that if a team is, I think Houston can beat.

I think anyone could beat them. But if they win, I'm not shocked. That's the thing. The chiefs can be the chiefs. The way the Bills, Ravens, Lions look right now. Those teams are playing better football. Those teams look at. So the challenge is because of the.

those six or seven games that all swung with weird calls or block kicks or crazy shit that's like how they're at home uh they get to sit and they get a dusty team but yeah if if she just drowned wants to play they did in the playoffs last year they'll be fine fellas it's a game day get your helmet on the road in the uh city by the bay chicago illinois Opening statements, presentation of McLeod law. But I was impressed with the goaltender a ton. He's starting to take over to boys. I was looking at it. He has been the man a lot. Eight of the last 11 games he started. We talked on the last show about, or whatever it was, about the Kings and Kings are they sitting second and they're in that division? Well, you look at their defense and you look at giving up the fewest number of goals and all that.

Flames did a pretty tidy job defensively throughout that game. If you just wish away all the chances they had in the first period. First period. Like that could have been four nothing at recess, but yeah. I mean, the goal is. So are you going to be willing to put some blame on Wolf? the end of the year here. Put some blame on when they don't pick in the top 10.

I would not put it on him. I would put it on people. Keep putting him in that. He's going to play well. So you you lobby for him to play more until he wins games and now you're saying the guys are playing him more. I think what you're, that's very penderesque, isn't it? What you're asking what you're different things.

Like when you want to talk about the development of a player, this is the best case scenario for Dustin Wolf. He said a phenomenal year, right? But he said if they finish outside of the top 10. We'll flush this out. All right. We can talk about it. We don't have to simplify everything down to like binary nonsense. Oh, okay.

So if you had a hope or a wish for, if you work for the flames for the development of Dustin Wolf this year, what would it be? Look like a number one. Get 50 games under your belt. Proved to be a difference maker in the league at the goal time position. I want to be confident going into next year. He's my number one. And if you wanted to get really greedy, you'd say not even a number one, but an elite NHL starter. He's starting to look more like that than anything else, fellas.

It's wild how good he's been. But yeah, if you want to go big picture and zoom out from the player development side and just look at, okay, the next five years, how do we add potential superstars? Well, pick it in the top 10's it. His play alone has kept you out of the bottom 10 in the NHL. So that's the conundrum. That's the wrong. That's what I'm asking.

That's what he said. You said, blame the guys that keep starting. No, I think if you've got after the deadline, like if you can make the playoffs, go get it. No one thinks you can. No one thinks you got the team on paper. everyone's been consistent about that. Clearly they believe more than we do, and rightfully so. They've been greater than the sum of their parts.

They've played really, really strong systems. They don't give up a ton and they've had great goaltending. They work hard. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. They've been better than everyone thought. If they get in, there's no, oh, I wish I would have could have should have. But there are five spots in the league that are the spots you don't want to finish. 11th from

the bottom, 12, 13, 4th, and 50s. So there's no playoffs and there's no top 10 pick. That's the danger zone. So when do you start stick handling that? I don't know. late in the year with a month left. So if the standings are more or less what they are now, it's safe to probably assume that that's what is going to be just in, just out, that sort of thing.

Would you be lobbying for Vladar games? No, not now. So then, or like you say down the stretch or what? Yeah, down the stretch. You're at the half point of the season. If you think that this team that's played this much above themselves on paper, do that two halves in a row, I think there's great cause for concern.

I still think they come back to Earth. You can't do that, though. Do what? Start sitting wolf. No, I'm not saying. I'm not saying, if you're out of the playoff race, you sit wolf.

But that's what I say, say they're out with 15 games left. Yeah. Cooley, roll, baby. You get two or three. Even though Wolf, like, alternate games, whatever, yeah. But that's what they're doing now.

They're not alternate. He's played eight of the last 11. Okay. That's the furthest thing from alternation. What overall, it's the, Pretty close, but he's taken over, man. They're riding them. How can you say they're not alternate?

In the last two and a half weeks. Like it's been four of five, six of eight, eight of eleven, three in a row. Coming off loss, he's played again. It's not alternate. You can always say, but you always say you can't just take a little snippet out of there and say this is. 11 games is a month. I mean, if you want to ask how they're using the goalies, it's not. Yeah, but they also missed the game on Wednesday night that they would have,

Bladar would have played, right? They're back to back. You'll probably see both guys next two nights, right? Anyway, I just, you didn't answer the question. So, ask me the question again. The question is, are you going to be willing to put blame on wolf for screwing this up? No, absolutely not. Because I will.

I will pile on him. Ask a player to not play hard. That's the thing with this whole. Same with coaches too. The GM has to my head. I keep going back to what is the position of this team. We're riding it out with what we have and just going to find out. at the deadline they'll either add or they'll subtract that's what my guess is unless they're like two out then they sit on their hands

i don't even know what you subtract you subtract you subtract you subtract and you stop playing there's no lidar deal to be made especially he's not going to play just you just said he's not going to play like someone could move a fourth and upgrade their backup for sure i don't know that that moves the needle for you but at least you get a look at coolly before you've got them slotted to make one way money on your team next year. You get to look at them in the NHL level. That'd be good. Oh, it'd be good for the flames. I just, I don't know that a goalie deal

is there. What team would be saying, I'm going to give up an asset to take on him. I don't know what team needs a goal in March yet, right? Yeah. Like, there's going to be injuries. Either way, he's been very good at home. Not so good on the road. Wolfie. Yeah. He's gone, well, at home,

11, 2 and 1.1. 1.98 goals against 936, say percentage. Sub 2, man. That is crazy. Of his 22 starts, only eight have come on the road in those eight. He's three, four and one with a three point four eight goals against in an eight seventy-nine. Those are not going to. He's partying on the road. That's what it is. Oh, four

shizzle. And to be fair, like the team in front of them, same story. You've been much better at home. With Fla-R, it's the same thing. Tougher on the road, better at home. It's just been a group that's thrived at the dome for some reason, because we don't see that often necessarily. Oh, it's that rock us crowd. Well, that's the thing.

It hasn't exactly. Is that what it is? Yes. It's not like they're riding a 300 game shut out or sellout streak here. I don't know. And what is it? Because they won the first two road games of the season. Yeah.

And since then have four wins in 16. Anaheim. We just watched one in Anaheim. Montreal and extra time. Those are two extra time ones. And then they won in Nashville. Nashville. They actually scored four of that game.

Crushed them. Yeah. Crushed. So you basically have two overtime. time victories, one against the 32nd place team at the time in Nashville and one other somewhere else since those first. Those are your road wins. It feels like it's going to be a disappointing thing for some.

Because if you're the coach, you're not, you're coaching, you're judged by how your team plays good or bad. So Husk is not going to sabotage the roster. God, no. So he's going to start Wolf if Wolf is healthy and playing well. He's not going to sit guys for the, no, the betterment of moving up a slaughter or two in the draft. and just the way they're with decent goal tending,

I think the story that we really defensively, they don't get blown out a ton. They don't give up a ton. They're in games. They don't give up a ton. Their defense has been actually very, very good for what they are competent. Last year they had Hannafin and Tanna,

as a part of this group. And I remember a game, I think it was around Christmas they played Chicago. And Jacob Marksham had to make six shutout saves, like breakaway saves. Yeah. Or partial breaks. And you're like, they don't do that anymore.

There's no there there's their systems are very good. Well, their D is not trying to join the rush a lot of them. So that's probably. Yeah. Wee's jumping up and maybe Rasmus down. Then that's about it. Whatever. You have to give.

Other than the odd individual. In general, the old halfway. A plus coaching staffs in A plus for me. It's not close. Like the power play struggled early. They fixed it. They, they're just getting more out of this.

roster than anyone thought they should. Nobody, like, go scour all the predictions. Nobody had them on pace for like 90 some points. No, I think 83 was. 81 and a half. We were like squinting hard thinking like, what would have to go right for that to happen? They could blow right past that. I mean, you give a failing grade to Kuzmenko. And then after that, it's, I don't know how you grade Sharon Govich, because it's not been a good year. It's probably a C minus or a D. 15 without a goal. But like, generally speaking, like everyone else has been really good. Really good defensively too, because the offensive, other than Huberto, who we're raving about somewhat, because he is doing what he's supposed to as far as leading

the team in points. But they aren't, you know, the couple years ago, everyone, the most 20 goals scores in the NHL, like, that ain't happening. Like Coleman last year, 30-some. Oh, my God. He's been fine. He's just not going to score 30. No, they're just playing.

It's the sum of the parts, right? Is that the same? Yeah. And I don't know, because we talked about it at the start of the year about how they finally had an identity and they were hard to play against. I don't know if it's the same now. They're not easy to play against. It's not. They work and they get goals. But you know, they're

kind of consistent. Whichever line is out there is going to play the same way. We're probably not going to have a bunch of scoring chances, but they're probably not going to give up a bunch either. How many years did we just bitch and moment about consistency. Yeah. And it was just like how, how, how, how could you go beat this team and play this

well and then not show up for 30 minutes here? Like that's on the players, but also the code. Like they're ready to play every night. They don't lay eggs. There's been a couple bad ones. And every goal in the NHL, including the Vesna winners, have bad nights. They've been really, really steady. There have not been very many bad days.

No. There have been. But they got their doors blown off in Vegas and Utah and back to back games in like November. A war game trip out east. Pittsburgh. Ottawa, Columbus. Anyway, where they didn't perform well. But even those ones, I don't know if they were horrendous.

They just lack high-end skill offensively. So you're going to be in to lower storing tight hockey games. Months ago, when you could have made this happen and you'd have eight more points. If he believes deep down that this is a playoff team, then yes, he's blowing it. But if he believes deep down that this is a group playing over their skis and it's not sustainable, then I commend them for not making that deal.

So they have 21 games to the trade deadline. 21. It's March 7th. How they perform in the next 21 games entirely dictates their path at the deadline for me. And I don't think that's a huge statement. I think we'd all agree with that. if you have just a four-game skid in there, you might look up and be six points out,

and all of this is very obvious. And on the flip side, if Demko gets hurt again and the Canucks lose five in a row, and all of a sudden, you're three points up on someone out of the wild card. It's like, yeah, okay, of course we could use some seconds and thirds to go get some guys to help here.

So let's play that out. Let's, if they finish in a wild card, which is probably, if they're in wild card one, season ends today, who do they play? If they're in wild card two, who do they play?
