Starting point is 00:00:14 All right. Well, we're all here. So we may as well do a thing. I mean, you're here and you're here and I'm here and Jack's here and Alex is somewhere. I don't actually know where Alex is, but he's somewhere. Oh, he's at the Palladium for sure. Is he real? Alex? Yeah. I don't know. Is he AI? AI? That's what I was wondering. A new AI. The stuff they're doing with AI is, it's like they've got to slow this shit down, right? You can either be petrified or excited, and I'm not sure which one you should be. Probably both, to be honest, right? It's like, hey, the internet's going to be crazy and change our lives. For the better and for worse, right? It's like pretty cool not having to mail shit anymore. Except this is going to advance even faster.
Starting point is 00:01:00 Totally. Yeah, the world's... And has already, yeah. So we had a dinner party on the weekend, and one guy said, let me take like three or four pictures of somebody's face, and AI will generate all these really crazy photos and pants. paintings of the person. And now we're seeing on Twitter, people are like, hey, here's 80s hockey players as country
Starting point is 00:01:18 singers. And it's all AI produced. It looks unbelievably. Like, holy shit. Like, this is nuts. I had heard this was on the Macciffy show, I think last week. And Will Sassau, who you may or may not know anyway, he did this podcast. And as part of it, he had AI put together Tom Brady doing a stand-up comedy gig.
Starting point is 00:01:39 Because that was Tom Brady's thing. And it's, it's his friggin' voice. It's Tom Brady. Oh, my fuck. And he's telling like, knock, knock jokes. It's video, not just the audio? Well, I don't know if there's video. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:01:50 I just heard the audio. There could be. Yeah, I don't know. So you're seeing on the one side, it's like you've got these bots that can produce writing that's really smart and better than most humans. And then you have the visual side that we just talked about. Now you're saying the voice can make the voice.
Starting point is 00:02:04 I told you. Don't send your kids to school and waste their time. It's not a big deal. Not a big deal. So what should they do instead? Learn how to use. Use AI. or use AI for school.
Starting point is 00:02:15 No, because that's a waste of time. Yeah. Do online school. You can do it all AI. You're done. You'll have your GED in about three months. What's that? GED.
Starting point is 00:02:25 Yeah. Wouldn't you be D-U-M, though, if you just have a computer do all your work? No, no, you'll be SMRT. You just say computer do this. Yeah. Do you use a lot of your schooling on a day-to-day basis? Or is it common sense that tends to get you through life? I'm dumb as shit.
Starting point is 00:02:43 though. But that's the point, right? Is that, and you're still surviving and getting along. It's not about what you're learning at school. It's about interacting in a little society where you learn the rules of how to behave. With a bunch of asshole kids? Shut up. Okay. So you don't need to learn
Starting point is 00:02:59 how to behave in social environments? No, I got AI to hang out with. Okay. Well, that's probably fair. If you don't need to hang out with humans. And welcome to the Tower Chrysler Studios. Tower, Chrysler, Dodge, Ram, Jeep. Calgary's favorite Chrysler, Dodge, Kids don't interact nowadays anyway. What are you talking about?
Starting point is 00:03:16 They're on their phone or they're on the video. My kids don't have phones and they interact kids all the time. Wait till they get them and see. I know. I know. He's still in the naive world. Oh, I know he is. Yeah, I know. All I know is what I have.
Starting point is 00:03:27 I'm not saying your issues aren't real. I'm just saying, soon as you get them. People still need know how to interact and do this, right? That's not a lost thing. It is a lost thing. Okay. Well, it is a lost thing.
Starting point is 00:03:38 So they don't need to go to school to help learn that? No. Are they allowed to use their phones at school? Play sport. You can learn that in a lot. I agree. Sports great for that. That's the biggest reason.
Starting point is 00:03:46 It's much better than school. Because in school, what are you supposed to do? You're not allowed to interact until the teacher says you're allowed to interact. If you're listening to the teacher. Damn, teachers. You know what they have a tower? Real humans that you can talk to when you walk in, Dan.
Starting point is 00:04:01 Tower Chrysler. Consumer Choice Award winner. 10-901 MacLeod Trail South Online. They're not bots. Priser.com. Towercrizer.com. Soon enough. I didn't know that's the way we were going to start
Starting point is 00:04:16 the old program, but yet here we are. Welcome to the, welcome to the pod. Do we have that Sarah Valley hologram on today? Yeah, Alex. Yeah, we do. We do. It's a flames game day. Put your digital hat on.
Starting point is 00:04:31 Flames. Tinfoil hat. Your tinfoil hat. What are the other? Flames and Hawks tonight. Biggest game of the season must win game. Yeah, until tomorrow. Biggest game of the season.
Starting point is 00:04:44 Fuck it up tonight. If you lose tonight, it takes, who cares about tomorrow almost? Well, I mean, I agree. They are 30 second overall. Yeah, and they were when they lost to them twice before this year. It's those two conversations we have. It's the, can they make the playoffs and then are there any good? So we're very much in the, just make the playoffs.
Starting point is 00:05:09 We'll forget, we'll worry about the big picture of the macro, all that stuff. We worry about that later. Just right now, can you make the playoffs? It's a good point. And like Frank was on last week, he's like, there's issue here. There's going to be changes somewhere. That's true, but still please make the playoffs. You can sift through the ashes later.
Starting point is 00:05:25 Get in. Frank is standing by. I want to mention quickly, though. Thanks again to Madrose Pub, $50 gift card and a nice little, nothing like experiencing hockey, you know? A little flames experience. Madrose Pub. Great for socializing, meeting other people.
Starting point is 00:05:40 We had our contest on social media over the last day or so. on Twitter. Congrats to Dave S. Davis? Dave S. is going to be experiencing some Madros goodness and some flames goodness as well.
Starting point is 00:05:56 I think the recommendation, the wings, fried them baked, and then we got to do a wheel if you're there. What else is the moon? I'm going for a wheel on Saturday. Saturday?
Starting point is 00:06:07 Yeah. Okay. Should we give everyone the heads up, blast on social media? You could write your name down a few times, make some money when you're up there, signing event? No. No. I got events out at the edge
Starting point is 00:06:18 that we're going to go take in and there's a little break in between and I'm going to... Stony? Yep. 15 Royal Vista Place. Love it. Sauce, dough for those pizzas made fresh every day. Great food, great people. And online, madrose.
Starting point is 00:06:32 Dot pub. You can do the dashing and the skipping and all that too if you want. Sure. Have it brought to your door if you're lazy. My concern would be if I Had it delivered, it would be cold by the time. I know. If you really want that Mad Rose experience, here we are telling you how great the food is,
Starting point is 00:06:50 you have it brought to your door. Now Madrose is playing from behind. Don't judge them on that. And they're getting better at it, but it's nothing better than being in the rest. Are you kidding me? Go to the rest, though. Jeez. Bring in our NHL insider Frank Sierra Valley, who joins us.
Starting point is 00:07:07 From Pennsylvania. Hello, Franklin. Not a hologram. And if I did have a hologram, would it at least be 40 pounds lighter? I think you can design what you want. If AI really wants to look smart, they wouldn't get too thin. They'd be like, I don't know about this. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:25 You know what? Stop running yourself down. Yeah, you're hard on yourself, Frank. You and boom. There's a lot of similarities. Love just taking runs at yourself. Well, Frank, you'll like this. Obviously, you see Warner's here.
Starting point is 00:07:37 He, uh, for the Calgary show, he decided to come to Calgary. walk i walk in last week haven't seen them in months hey retro oh oh pretty gray a lot of gray's a lot of gray there what a prick we talk every day it's not a big it's the first time they'd spoken in person seeing me seeing me for the first time ever so when did you start going gray what age uh like 19 what yeah yeah so are you white not gray is that sort of the spin there or what do you do when you're 19 and that color comes in? Yeah, I mean, this is, it's as white as snow white. And I think the problem is, too, like, if I let my, if I don't shave for a few days,
Starting point is 00:08:24 that's all gray too. Oh, it's wisdom. I think you look distinguished. Very Clooney-esque. That's what I see. I see George Clooney. It's like talking to Clooney every Tuesday. Clooney Tuesdays.
Starting point is 00:08:38 Clooney Tuesdays here on Barnburner. I don't think so. No. What's happening with you, pal? What's new out there? We're just kind of chasing down a playoff spot, seeing all these other teams. They've had them locked up or they're locking them up all the two more teams last night. What's your hurry?
Starting point is 00:08:53 What's the rush? Take your time. How about a little drama? I'm all for the drama. Like Wednesday night, that's a six beer special on Wednesday night. Like there's lots of things happening on Wednesday night. And the crazy people. part about that Jets Flames game is that it's really not to say it's not going to mean anything because
Starting point is 00:09:17 there's still a path but if the flames don't win tonight and take care of business against the Blackhawks then there could be a nail in their coffin on Wednesday night yeah I agree if they can't beat the Blackhawks there should be a nail in their coffin yeah that would be a winless season against the Blackhawks they fell in overtime in January they came home and shit their pants against them later on in the new year and this is the third and final meeting If you went 0 for 3 against the Hawks and missed the playoffs by like two or three points, like it's a nail gun at your own head. You did it to yourself.
Starting point is 00:09:50 Yeah, I mean, they're not even trying to win. No, it's eight in a row for them. That's the best part out of all of this. They're awful. They don't even have an A.HL caliber lineup. Like, that's how bad their team is since the trade deadline and plucking all those pieces off. They went from like 29th place to 32nd. like a weight in a swimming pool.
Starting point is 00:10:13 Like that's where they're at. They do have a five-game winning streak this season, something the flames don't have, though. Flames could change that tonight. But it can have tonight. Kind of interesting, yeah. So are they doing the tank correctly? Because I know there's certain ways you have to tank.
Starting point is 00:10:32 You can't be too obvious about it. You have to, you are still trying to win. But they are last. They've traded off some assets. They didn't trade Athens C. They trade a domi. I mean, could they be worse? Are they tanking correctly?
Starting point is 00:10:42 Is it subtle enough for you? It's not even really that subtle. I mean, they were not a great team heading into the season. They probably exceeded expectations for a while. And then I think they did it in the best way possible, which is you're not asking your players or you're not putting them in a position where, hey, we, you know, wink, wink, we'd like to mix in a few more quality losses here. They've done it.
Starting point is 00:11:10 I kind of think in the best, you know, most proper way, if that makes any sense in that they just don't have the horses. They don't have the goods to be able to get it done. And that's sort of what you're seeing play out on a nightly basis is they're probably even concerned about the roster that they're icing and trying to protect whatever valuable assets they have in their lineup because that's that's how bad this team is. And so, yeah, McCabe, Kane, Domi, lots of departures. You sort of noted you want to insulate young guys. I mean, let's say they win the draft lottery, Taves is up, like, how quickly do they turn this around if this is going the right way for them? Well, I think what it does is it shaves a couple years off of what their timeline is. All of a sudden, you know, when you have a generational talent like that who's really, I hate the comparison.
Starting point is 00:12:07 because it's so crazy and makes your head explode, but the numbers and the parallels, they're not with McDavid, they're with Gretzky. And that's something crazy to think about. And I'm not saying he's going to be the next McDavid or Gretzky, but that's the level that he's been playing at, taking a Regina Pat's team that really has no business being in the playoffs out to a two-nothing lead against the Saskatoon Blades. He's the real deal. and what if in Chicago you're looking at a five to a seven year plan all the sudden that becomes a three to a five year plan and you get players knocking on your door this summer saying hey I want to be around this kid I want to be on this team and you know I think what's really interesting and thinking back to a parallel about Chicago look a lot of things need to happen in order for him to land there they still have a 74 point
Starting point is 00:13:04 point five percent chance that he doesn't end up there based on the way the lottery odds work. But the parallel exists from, think about the time that Jonathan Taves and Patrick Kane stepped foot into that locker room in 2007, that team was a blank canvas. It was theirs to make. It was they were the sort of guys that were going to dictate and determine where that team went next. There was no veterans hanging over their head. There were no rules.
Starting point is 00:13:32 There were no hazing, so to speak. that that's a real thing. But they were able to shape it and make it what they wanted to. And I think that's sort of the same path that would exist for Connor Bredard or whoever steps in next. And by the way, pretty decent consolation prizes in this year's draft if you don't end up with the number one pick. Is Taves a lock to leave?
Starting point is 00:13:55 Is there any part of him that maybe wants to just be a career hawk, get his number put up? And of course, he's been missed so much time with health. What do you see the future being there for Taves? Yeah, I think the point is I don't really see a future. And I don't mean just in Chicago, I just mean anywhere playing again. Maybe there's some kind of summer that he has that changes, you know, the outlook and table. But I think the way it's looking to me now is just that he had this amazing kind of comeback on Saturday, getting back into the lineup.
Starting point is 00:14:31 up and it certainly feels to me based on his comments and reading in between the lines that this is a guy that's staring down retirement at a too early age for giving the impact of player that he has but his body just hasn't cooperated um i can't i can't put myself in his shoes and understand what he's feeling but when he talks about really struggling to get out of bed most days dealing with this long covid and the after effects i can't imagine then trying to ramp up and play an NHL game and then to have this sort of feeling that's been lingering the last 18 months or two years like that's a long time so he's made 116, 120 million dollars in his career he's accomplished just about everything you could why go through that again unless you know you
Starting point is 00:15:20 absolutely have to so that's the path I'm seeing or the hawk's not going to say come on and join us in the front office or if you want maybe they do maybe that's a path that that happens or unfolds strikes me as a guy that probably just wants a rest for a bit you know take some time to enjoy yourself and everything that you've worked for instead of jumping right back in but he's got a competitive spy competitive fire that has been pretty much unmatched for a long time that he could I bet that guy could do anything he wants to next I wanted to ask about uh rechained topics a little sure playoff format there's been a lot of bichin and moan in about the divisional two-threes and how unfair that can be. And it also happens to be that Toronto's been in a tough spot for a few years.
Starting point is 00:16:09 So, you know, the megaphone of the biggest hockey market in the world is always exaggerating things. They're going to get a softer touch this year in where Tampa is in the conference standings versus what it has been in the last few years. It looks like New Jersey is getting screwed. I don't mind the divisional idea. You're more likely to get rivals head-to-head in round one. You get, you know, fan bases that can travel more easily. In theory, you have less travel in round one. where are you on the divisional playoffs versus the one through eight in the conference? I think it's much ado about nothing. Like what you have to beat the best to be the best, whether you face them in round one,
Starting point is 00:16:45 you face them in round three, who cares? And let me remind you that the Toronto Maple Leafs in recent years, it hasn't just been the lightning or the Bruins. They also lost to the Columbus Blue Jackets followed by the Montreal Canadiens. So whatever lack of success. that they have is by their own doing. And I don't understand the belly aching or complaining. Right now, as you mentioned, it's the five, six matchup technically in round one, if it were
Starting point is 00:17:16 one to eight. And for the bulk of the season, it was still four, five between Leafs and Lightning. So that's what the matchup would have been. I like it the way it is. If I could tweak it in a small way, what I would do is if there are wild card teams from both divisions that make it, that make sure that those wildcard teams remain in their actual own division. So meaning Winnipeg, you know, if you make it in the eight spot, you don't cross over to play the Pacific teams. If that's the way it ends up shaking out, you play just the
Starting point is 00:17:51 central teams. But I'd actually like to throw the whole thing out. And if you really want to value the regular season and put a true emphasis on rewarding the team, that had the most success, like the Boston Bruins, let's go 116. And who cares about carbon offset from the planes? You know, I don't care. I want the most entertaining bracket possible. And if that means in all California Stanley Cup final
Starting point is 00:18:21 or a Pacific Division Stanley Cup final, who cares? Well, what would travel? Let's truly value the regular season. Like, what if you had Vancouver, Tampa? That's a nightmare. That's a six-hour flight. Like, is that not a disaster for round one? Hey, you're the one seed.
Starting point is 00:18:33 Welcome to the biggest travel of the whole tournament. But why is it any different for the cup final? Why does no one belly ache then when we have Vancouver, Boston? Because it's fair for both teams. It's the same path, right? They both start in division. They both travel more, and then you have an East-West final. That's why.
Starting point is 00:18:50 Well, what's fair about playing the eighth place team instead of the 16th if you're number one? Yeah, no, that's fair. I mean, if you had the top eight all in one conference, sure. I wonder too Is that part of the consideration Is travel? That's the way I see it.
Starting point is 00:19:05 Why do you have to face this? Why should it be? Remember when the Kings and the Leafs played in the same division for Christ's sake? Like, why is this a thing? Travel's gotten easier or not harder? What's it like as a player? It sucks. If you play in the East,
Starting point is 00:19:22 I went to the finals twice in the East, and Florida is tough travel when you're in the East, and it was still easy. A couple hour flights. In Buffalo, you didn't notice the travel, hardly at all. Traveling when we went to the final with Calgary? Awful. You also had really shitty matches.
Starting point is 00:19:41 Awesome. San Jose is not close. We were lucky to start with Vancouver, but even with Vancouver, you had the time change. So, I mean, it's still something. Yeah. But yeah, no, it can be brutal. But they're not going to change anything anyway, so I don't know why. And regional rivals are good for sport, right?
Starting point is 00:19:57 Like the more Battle of Alberta, more Battle of Florida, more Battle of Ontario, the more Battle of Pennsylvania. That's good for fans, right? We like that? I think so. I mean, again, I don't expect they're going to change anything. So the hockey, playoff hockey is not bad. I don't hear anyone bitching and moaning at the end of round one going,
Starting point is 00:20:16 this was terrible. I can't believe this. Only the team that loses goes, oh, this wasn't fair because we had to play. Well, like Frank just said, if you want to win, guess what you have to do. Win. And I think it's not so much round one.
Starting point is 00:20:30 everybody loves rival one. I think that's... Let me put a bow on that up. Mike. Get hit. Yeah, go ahead, Frank. Mike, yeah, my connection's finally back. I would say, um, the other flip side of that is that if you'd really do a 1-16,
Starting point is 00:20:50 it's all luck of the draw. So you could end up with a really close Stanley Cup final matchup geographically where instead of it getting harder as the round goes on, you end up with an easy travel schedule for the last, you could be the last two rounds or three rounds depending on what it looks like. A couple things, I guess, kind of related. Handicap that chase for the wild cards in the east. Everything else is locked up. You've got the Islanders, Penguins, and then Florida on the outside.
Starting point is 00:21:17 It's been a battle for Florida. And secondly... Even Buffalo with games in hand is right where Florida, yeah. With the Panthers, when is the... Can you recall the last time a hockey parent of an NHL player came out and just absolutely torched his kids' NHL team the way Keith Kachuk did. Did he get blowback?
Starting point is 00:21:39 I guess it's different when you were a player. If it was like, I remember Carl Lindross always just, well, this guy, he's a crazy hockey dad. I don't know that I heard anybody really bitch and moan about what Keith had to say, maybe because it was true.
Starting point is 00:21:51 And maybe it's because he's Keith and he played. But I just don't remember seeing a dad crush his own team like Kachuk did last week. Yeah, I can't remember anything like it. And I actually touched base with a few people on the Panthers. did not get a response from one, got another response from someone in their front office, and said, what did you make of Keith's remarks?
Starting point is 00:22:13 And he sent back a bunch of emojis, like laughing face emojis. I'm like, so are you not taking this seriously? Like, should you be taking this seriously? It'd be different if it was Carl Lindra, some Joe Schmo, not to say that, you know, he doesn't know hockey having raised his kids, but Keith Kichuk is a borderline Hall of Famer.
Starting point is 00:22:32 Like, this is coming from an authentic voice an authentic place. And so maybe you should pay attention to something like that. So it definitely grabbed my attention. I don't have a parallel to it. And when I look at this team and the playoff, Chase, what stands out to me is, I guess looking at the last, you know, week I didn't realize how vulnerable the New York Islanders are.
Starting point is 00:22:56 I kind of thought, you know, last week saying, man, maybe the Islanders should send Brian McClellan a basket of of wine in Washington. Like, thanks for the free spot on the card once the caps decided to sell and bow out officially. And now I look at this Islander team, which has lost a couple in a row, and they have the goalie, but they don't have the goods to score. They've got some veterans savvy, and they could be an interesting first-round opponent,
Starting point is 00:23:26 but you've got to get there. The team, to me, that in an odd way has also scuffled up late, but I think just has enough savvy enough skill to get in and we'll do anything possible. We were reminded of that on Sunday is the Pittsburgh Penguins. You know, they have this emotional day. They lose to the Boston Bruins on Saturday. Chris LaTang plays this 1000th game on Sunday, get off to a slow start, somehow managed to get ahead and then stave off a late charge from the flyers. And I'm thinking, okay, that's what we have to look forward to for the pens. Like Sidney Crosby is going to make sure that he drags that team across the finish line and they're going to get there.
Starting point is 00:24:06 It's just, will they be pushed by the Panthers? Will the Panthers get in and the Islanders be out? That's sort of what it comes down to for me is I see Penn's in and that Islanders spot, the final spot is a true toss-up. You don't believe my sabres are going to put a charge on and get there? You know, games. They do have games. Only them and the Nashville Predators both have.
Starting point is 00:24:32 seven remaining, if I'm not mistaken. And they get Tage Thompson back tonight. Tage Thompson, by the way, I think he hits 50 goals, which he's at 44 with seven to play. But this man, Tage Tastic, he's four hat tricks this season. Like, including a five-goal game, like that's someone eminently capable of getting to 50. I just the Panthers I as much as the Sabres are battling for their playoff lives this is kind of their last gas
Starting point is 00:25:06 I feel like the Panthers tonight just have a little bit more to play football. That's a good game right there right Buffalo Florida what about the West drama two more teams Dallas Minnesota get in last night wild card stuff here in Calgary we're right in the thick of it
Starting point is 00:25:24 Nashville Falls in Dallas last night six left now but that's the thing we were saying yesterday The thing about having games in hand is you just got so many more games to play. So much hockey. Gosh, we've got to play all these games. Flames, Jets, Predators. Walk us through your thoughts as we come around the final horn here. I got to say with the flames, as ugly as the weekend was,
Starting point is 00:25:51 meaning there was nothing pretty, nothing to really be excited about. they did show me a little something being able to come from behind both times in the third period for the first time all season. 018 and 3 heading into Friday night and they end up 218 and 3 by the time the season is done trailing after 40 minutes. I don't know if it's enough, but at least this team has a pulse. It has a heartbeat. It actually, you can tell, has a heart.
Starting point is 00:26:25 Again, I don't know if that's going to be enough to get them in. Their schedule is in their favor. The Jets have a much tougher road. But if you don't take care of business tonight, Wednesday, it's going to matter, but not nearly as much. So to me, you've got to start with Tuesday night. If you're the Calgary Flames and then take it from there, I think the Jets also, I was debating in my head over the weekend, and which team had the better weekend. I give the edge to Calgary for showing the heart,
Starting point is 00:26:59 but I really like what I saw from Winnipeg on Friday, particularly with the lineup changes that they made, moving siphly to the wing for the first time, and getting all those guys off the Schneid at once, followed by a romp of the New Jersey Devils, had put that team sort of back in the driver's seat to control their own destiny. and yeah, I think the Preds, it's been a nice and admirable run, but I just don't see it.
Starting point is 00:27:27 When you look at those three Pacific teams, all of them are in, Vegas, Los Angeles, and Edmonton, I don't know if I think probably would have picked maybe two of those teams, maybe all three, depending on how you looked at it. Who surprised you the most, and it's still the division title is up for grabs? But of those three, after Vegas did what they did last year, and we saw L.A. play, Edmonton and all of that, who's the biggest surprise to you? you that they've that they're in and in this early if you will um probably Vegas if you told me the way this season would play out that they'd lose mark stone for the
Starting point is 00:28:03 you know bulk of the year jack ikel would be rather marginal and they'd have a stretch where they have four goalies on one-way contracts and win four games in a row using four different goalies and then still have a chance to win the division i'd say you're crazy um i thought if they ran into a lot of the same problems that they did last year on the injury front that they'd probably miss the playoffs again they've been able to battle and withstand that i'm not really surprised by the kings but i'm surprised how much better they've gotten this year i picked the kings to win the division title and with that you know that that that was one of my preseason picks i didn't think that kevin fiala would lead this team and scoring and more to the point with this
Starting point is 00:28:49 trade, I thought Corpus Sallow could be better, but not this big of a boost that he's been, you know, 9, 30, save percentage essentially since coming over in the trade. And he's your likely game one starter now for the Kings. And the way it went down, trading a franchise icon and Jonathan Quick, I thought there had a real chance for that trade to be disruptive. And all of that said, no team in the Western Cross. conference has a better record since early January than the Edmonton Oilers. So the Pacific division is up for grabs. The essential division winner is up for grab. And both teams teams in both
Starting point is 00:29:33 divisions have a ton to play for because that means you get one of the wild card teams in round one and avoiding really what I think is a bunch of coin flip matchups in round one, I think would be a big benefit. You talked about, you know, Buffalo and Florida being a great matchup tonight. We talked about how important this game is for the flames, but Kings Oilers and a potential round one rematch preview again tonight is also a pretty significant addition to the Tuesday night's slate. All right, fellow, we'll let you go, but I know we were talking. I think it was yesterday we brought up Rhett wanted to know if you enjoyed the whiskey that he sent you. Yeah, the booze that he owed, for the snowstorm. I didn't get a thank you card.
Starting point is 00:30:15 that's because I never got a whiskey I find that hard to believe is it easier now from Calgary to get that done that shipping or? Did you? Yeah. Check your mail, Frank. Yeah, look for a big brown bag
Starting point is 00:30:32 and a bottle. Maybe check your mail. Yeah. Maybe that'd be there for you. All right, Frank. Be good, fella. Take care of that, take care of that hairdo.
Starting point is 00:30:42 Looks good, buddy. Always someone else's fault. That's good. Take care, buddy. Thanks. Appreciate you. There he is. Frank Cerville.
Starting point is 00:30:48 NHL Insider, Daily Faceoff, DailyFaceoff.com, DFOLive and all that stuff. There's Kings tonight, too. Heck yes. Look at this. What a slate. Yeah, there's 11 games. It's a lot. It's a lot of games.
Starting point is 00:31:03 How many teams? 26 teams in action tonight. Math checks out. It's almost all them, right? All them? It's almost all them. Now, should we give a reboot? I'm trying to, because seeing it on the feed, it's a little lag.
Starting point is 00:31:18 Frank was having. So I don't know, was that a Frank thing? Is that an us thing? I'd ask Alex if he could talk down the line. I know. I'm trying to figure. I'm trying to. You know what I'm doing?
Starting point is 00:31:26 I'm trying to suss it out. Suss. Seems fine now, doesn't it? Maybe not. Maybe it's a little off. I think we're a little, maybe a little off. Penguins devils tonight too.
Starting point is 00:31:35 Yeah. Preds after that loss in Dallas. Oh, um, good, good effort. Off to Vegas play again tonight. This schedule is just a nightmare for them. It's too bad. It's just a shame. Feel terrible.
Starting point is 00:31:47 Oh, and then they get to go to Carolina. Play Carolina, excuse me. Do you not send that whiskey? I did. I don't believe him. Yeah. Because there was once you... I knew he was at the GM meeting,
Starting point is 00:32:01 so I sent it to the hotel in Florida. Where was it in Florida again? The meetings? Beaches. Right. That's right. So it wasn't in Orlando. I think you nailed it.
Starting point is 00:32:12 Beaches. Yeah. I just said, you know, the lobby. Sarah Valley, the hotel, beach, ocean. A pool there. Yeah. That was good,
Starting point is 00:32:24 that was good brown liquor we had in here the other day. That's, that's one of Greg's favorites, and I think it's because he knows what Rett's favorite is. Yeah, it was all right. Well, when you only had one and it was enough to get you going. Yeah, well, let that. Oh, heavy hands princey there, pouring triples.
Starting point is 00:32:42 Yeah. I want to tell you about St. Eugene golf course. We were just talking about this morning. I wonder if their ears were burning. Because we were talking about St. Eugene getting out there. Championship golf course, casino, spa, restaurants, mountains everywhere. You just turn, mountains. Turn out.
Starting point is 00:33:04 Mountains. Try and get away from the mountains when you're there. You can't do it. I don't think you want to. I know. Time to discover or rediscover. The St. Eugene Golf Resort and Casino. They have their, the spring swing special is, is on right now.
Starting point is 00:33:20 259, starting at just 259. You and a friend can enjoy a one night stay and a round of golf, including a power cart. I'm going to say one more time, 259. You and a friend, a night stay, round of golf, and a power cart. They got the hot pools, you're in nature. Not, dude. Come on, you kidding me? Let's go.
Starting point is 00:33:40 Spring swing is available from April 21st to May 17th. you go to the website, St. Eugene.ca. You go on the social, Twitter, Instagram, at St. Eugene Resort, and I know we have plans and we're working on it.
Starting point is 00:33:55 Well, these dopes miss the playoffs. Like, you know. I mean, by all means don't, but. Time to get out there. Yeah. Time to get out there. St. Eugene in near Cranbrook,
Starting point is 00:34:06 British Columbia. There's your phone number on the screen and again, the website, St. Eugene. com. Great partners. Great. We're going to be out there.
Starting point is 00:34:14 I'm some fun. This is right away. That's right. Looking forward. You love golf. This is my year. Then I'll get to the 11th T-box and think, you know, maybe next year. I'm not saying it's 18 at a time.
Starting point is 00:34:28 Yeah, he's 12-ish figure. 12's the number. 12-13. Just go out, you know what? Just go out and have some fun. Don't worry about the numbers or the swings or the- I don't judge you guys when you want to keep playing. Yeah, that's fine.
Starting point is 00:34:40 I have done the- Hey, guys, let's go home, man. No, I just, where's the beer card? It's a big boozer. Oh, yeah. Big drinker. We're going to take a break. We'll come back.
Starting point is 00:34:52 Pinda Report still to come. Details on how you could win yourself an autographed jersey. The old Bill Huberto. Bill Huberto. Autographed Jersey, our Betway bets of the day. And we'll do a little walk down memory lane. But quick break as we reset, we'll come right back. Part two of the program continues here on Flames Nation.
Starting point is 00:35:30 Welcome back. Time for the Pinda Report. brought to you by Village Honda, located in the Northwest Auto Mall, online at VillageHonda.com. We were talking with Anthony. It was use cars. Let's fill that lot.
Starting point is 00:35:42 They've had people going in. If you do go in there, and you're going to, you know, they want to take a look at your car. They're going to buy your car. Tell me, yeah, we heard on Barnburner. Heard the boys talking about it. Let's, let's whip up a deal here.
Starting point is 00:35:57 Let's get a deal going. Get your piece of the million dollar buying event, cash for your vehicle. top dollar and Village Honda going to throw in a tropical cruise to boot. See more at Village Honda.com. The Pinder Report. Fellas, great news for the Calgary Flames potentially this morning as they welcome the Chicago Blackhawks as the second of three games and four nights for the club.
Starting point is 00:36:19 Let's have a little gander who was taking a twirl with the fellas. Yesterday, it was an off day, but some of the not or less regulars getting some skates in. Chris Tanna fellows. Hello, look at this. There's the franchise tweeting that out. That was from what? Yesterday. And not only did he go for a little twirl yesterday,
Starting point is 00:36:43 he was on the ice at morning skate today. And here's a look at the lines. Tweeted out by our good pal, Pat. Patrick. This one's from Pat. This one is from Pat. The lines back to the new standards. And would you look at,
Starting point is 00:37:01 the pairs. They've switched on the back end. Hanifin's skating with Tanev, Weiger back up with Anderson, Stetcher moves back to the right, and Zedorov, down from the second to third pair. That means Michael Stone and Dennis Gilbert are extras at this point, and still no sign of Pelche, Rizichka, and Coronado, as we might expect. Daryl's going right back to his horses, including Markstrom and net tonight. Rett, this sets up Markstrom to start three games in four nights, albeit only 20 minutes played on Sunday against Anaheim. Get up by four in the first and cruise through this one. Give up 20 shots.
Starting point is 00:37:38 It's just a warm-up game for them. It's not going to get tired out tonight. They're playing the Black Hawk. That's right. They'd never have issues with the Blackhawks, guys. How could you have, they're the worst team in the league. They're not going to be defending a tight lead late in the game. He'd work harder at Morning Skate.
Starting point is 00:37:54 Yes. Let's have a look at the Blackhawks because I think Red's making some very good points. here. This is not a cup contender. Here's the lines for said, yeah, wow. Taves just back was on the fourth line yesterday, up today, that Lucas Reichel, I recall, doing some damage. Yeah, he and Domi. Domey gone. Put it in there, Tuckus.
Starting point is 00:38:18 There's a few names there, but yeah, that's a team that definitely is keen to add Connor Baderd to the group, isn't it, Rhett? You know, boy, you're just a Baderd away from really starting fresh. and building around badard. You're more than a badard, but yes, you're a badard away from building around. That's right. And that's kind of what this season's been about.
Starting point is 00:38:36 As for Chicago's recent play, it has not been good. Eight losses in a row. Loss, loss, loss, loss, loss. Loss, loss. And in those eight games, outscored 37 to 13. Oh, damn.
Starting point is 00:38:51 So how did they mess this up? Mess what? The Hawks don't want to win this game tonight, and the flames don't want to lose this game tonight. Sounds like Sunday's game, doesn't it? Don't that sound like Sunday's game. They're not going to. It's fine.
Starting point is 00:39:02 You guys are wound up tight. It's Chicago. They'll screw. They're not, no chance. Guaranteed win night. Guaranteed win night. The only thing the hawks got going for them is they're going to get
Starting point is 00:39:16 Badaard and have lots of cap space for next year. They do. And they will also not have Duncan Keith's cap recapture penalty on their books or at least a much smaller number as well, which I know everyone is wanting to talk about today. Chicago has, successful with the flames. I don't know how we did an after burner you and I ret on January 8th the 4-3 overtime loss for the flames win for the Hawks that was
Starting point is 00:39:40 particularly ugly with Alex staylock in net and then you know three weeks later in Calgary Jackson Stobber yeah I got to do that one and that was a 5-1 victory for the Hawks over the flames and might be their worst effort on home ice of the entire season a lot of 5-1 5-1 so the Hawks so far four for four on points against the Flames in the season series. Flames could finish with three out of a possible six points if they get a win tonight. And boy, if they missed by one or two, I think we just mentioned a couple games. I don't like living in the past, but if the fellows realized if they had maybe another one or two against the Hawks, things would be a little bit different.
Starting point is 00:40:21 It's a must win. They should absolutely beat this team. The Hawks are in horrible form. And yet, there'll be some ten. in the building if they don't get off to it. The first five minutes. It's just cruise control. Luchich, if the goalie stop on the puck,
Starting point is 00:40:36 bam. Who was the guy that took out Marie the other day? I guess. Lucas Raymond, I think. Lucas Raymond, I think. It was Lucas Raymond. That noted thug. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:42 Lucas Raymond. Here's a look at the standings. Here's the situation the flames are in and why we may be lamenting two losses to the Chicago Blackhawks this season. Flames, two points back of the Jets. Games played even. They'll play tomorrow night in Winnipeg.
Starting point is 00:40:57 And again, it will matter a lot less if they somehow stub their toe against the Hawks for a third time this season tonight. If they take care of business, it sets you up for an incredible finish. If you can win tonight and play well in Winnipeg, there certainly is a pathway for the Calgary Flames, who essentially are three points back. Winnipeg does hold the tie break if the teams end up with the same number of points. They can't be caught in regulation wins. That's the story in the West. And we should also note Nashville lost.
Starting point is 00:41:27 last night. We'll get to that in a moment. They all of a sudden, yeah, one game in hand and now three back of the flames, five back of the jets. The schedule only gets more daunting and arduous for the predators who have six teams left on the slate, all of them fighting for their lives or for playoff seating. There's no dusters, no bums, no bottom dwellers left on their schedule. Out east, we talked about it with Frank. Really intriguing matchup for the wild cards as well. The aisles have dropped back-to-back games.
Starting point is 00:41:55 That leaves them only a point up on Pittsburgh who holds. a game in hand. Florida's also got a game in hand on the Islanders. They're two points back. And Buffalo ain't dead yet, boys. Dean hates having all those games in hand, but if Buffalo managed to win them, they're not in a bad spot for finding one of those two wild cards. Four teams for two spots. Everyone else has punched a ticket for the playoffs. It doesn't happen every year, but we've got some pretty meaningful races in both conferences with less than seven, eight, five games to go for these teams. It's poor sabres. I've got to be sitting there. How come we got to play so many more games.
Starting point is 00:42:28 A lot of games. Look at these other teams. We got to play like two more. Well, they had, that one was, they got blizzarded out, right? I know. So they should be at seven,
Starting point is 00:42:36 they got screwed by Mother Nature. Same blizzard that cost red, a theoretical bottle of whiskey that's lost in the mouth. They should have McDavid anywhere. That's true. It's true. Glitch, they should have to fix that,
Starting point is 00:42:47 get McDavid in. At least they got Eichel. Do they, uh, we'll fall up in that in a bit. Nashville last night was in Dallas. They play again tonight in Vegas. That's a tough.
Starting point is 00:42:57 Back to back. And yeah, last night didn't go so well, unless you were listening to my bet. Way bets of the day, Dean, because it was indeed a Dallas victory by more than a goal and a half and Miroskinan with a couple of power play helpers as well. This was all stars.
Starting point is 00:43:13 And look at Robo. Huh? Our boy, Jason Robinson. Not our boy. I don't know why. A good player. 100 points. What's everybody doing getting 100 points?
Starting point is 00:43:23 Everyone's getting 100 points. Are you kidding me? It's like we're back to the early 90s. with this shit and I am here for it. I love the, we talked about it, no lead is safe, high scoring games, superstars scoring 50. Golly suck.
Starting point is 00:43:37 McDavid had 100 points by Halloween, I think. This is great, right? Yeah. If they're not going to fight, they might as well score. I suppose that's one way to look at it. Yeah. That's right. And if you ever had a game with both,
Starting point is 00:43:50 I mean, goodness, this could be a really, really hot sport for fans to watch. Bad news for the Toronto Maple Leaf. we talked about it yesterday and a little more confirmation. You got dumped by noted Thug Lucas Raymond, we told you moments ago. He is out listed day to day. It's ahead stuff.
Starting point is 00:44:08 No one's going to say concussion. No. Oh, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. A head, upper body, neck, things, a loose timeline. Anything but saying the word concussion is what he's been talking about. Look at Mason's brother.
Starting point is 00:44:23 Oh, boy. Is that Mason's brother? The family moved a bunch. Didn't see that coming. Did he play for Northwest? Northwest Sweden? I'm not sure. The family moved for the missionaries?
Starting point is 00:44:40 Move on. Figure it out later. Tonight's schedule. Let's take a peek. Lots of great games in here. We talked about it with Frank. We could have the Kings Oilers clash. Both those teams still could get first in the Pacific, although Vegas,
Starting point is 00:44:52 I'm going to be tough to reel in. What it might determine, though, is, hey, you want home ice in that two, three? here's tonight's game. Both been really good. I think LA best since the All-Star break. Edmonton best since the turn of the calendar. That'll be a fun one. We also get that Florida Buffalo game, a loss in regulation for either of those clubs clashing right at the top of the screen. That's going to be a serious blow to playoff chances. And of course, Calgary's got to get it. Done. Seven o'clock mountain time against the Hawks to set up, well, maybe the game of the year tomorrow night in Winnipeg. Let's go to WHL Hockey. The Cowkees.
Starting point is 00:45:26 Higman came home yesterday, Rhett. Got that split on the road. All my nice advantage, big crowd. Dean was obviously very excited about the rebels and hitman, and he'll be a little bit let down by last night's result as the rebels iced this one with an empty netter. Look at this. One goal game, watch the save.
Starting point is 00:45:47 Oh, throw that pat out there. Sean Chagall nearly ties it. We'll see the play will continue for a moment here, but we'll get a replay of this. This is a tidy little save and a one goal game. And we need a game six here in Calgary, Red. You get the Sunday, fun day crowd at the dome for a game six, Rebels, Hitman. That would be something. Come on, guys.
Starting point is 00:46:09 Come on, guys. They fall here, and this is, here's your replay of the save boom. I know you've been looking for here. There's Segal in front tips it, and then the rebound, the pad out of nowhere. There's no rebound. So there's the tip. Nope. There's one and, oh.
Starting point is 00:46:23 Two shots. Then he jumped on him like Rett's telling Lutich to do. Yeah, if you like to score, Land. Two saves, and he took a cross check. Rebels back in the driver's seat leading 2-1 in that series game four in Calgary before they switch back to Central Alberta. Okay, we're going to go to baseball. Remember rule changes, big rule changes.
Starting point is 00:46:43 Pitch clock. No strikes. Bigger bases. No bumps. Still have bad umpires. Oh, my God, there's another one last night. Are you effing blind? That is wild.
Starting point is 00:46:54 Let's go to some data from Jeff Pats. Hasen, noted MLB insider. Here's the difference four games into the season. They've shaved a half hour off games ret. I like that. That is very good. Now, some people like a slow, long, eat up your whole day baseball game,
Starting point is 00:47:10 but it's good for your sport when you don't have to need three hours and ten minutes to get a result, never mind a longer than average game. We've also seen batting way up, stolen bases, way up. And yeah, you're forcing pitchers and batters to get ready. sooner. And you can only pitch over twice, bigger bases, easier to swipe, shorter distance. This is all good for entertainment. The shoveler, when a game goes too long, she drinks too much, and then she gets out of hand. It's frisky. Yeah. In the ballpark or at home.
Starting point is 00:47:40 Yeah. It's getting handsy in the stadium. It's awkward for everyone in the whole section. He did. I'm up in the jumbo trial. Careful. Elsewhere in baseball, a walk-offs are fun, right? Yes. And back-to-back, home. runs are fun. What if you have back-to-back home runs in a walk-off at home? Would that be fun? Yes. I don't know if it can happen.
Starting point is 00:48:06 Now, what if you're in San Diego with that gorgeous ballpark? Yes. Let's go. Let's see what it looks like. 4-4 here against the diamond backs. Let's please do that. Look at this place. Jumping.
Starting point is 00:48:19 Hassan Kim. This bitch. Good. And the guy's talking like this. It comes out like that. Wouldn't it be cool to be in San Diego? Yes, it would. You can watch the dads play.
Starting point is 00:48:41 Although, you'll probably get to it. San Diego didn't too well. The state in the other game last night. Oh, yeah, no, we're not going to tell us. Aztecs? N-C-A. U-K.N.C.C.O.A. Yukon. U-K. Huskies.
Starting point is 00:48:56 Huskies. Huskies. Huskies. Do you like Huskies? You know what? Their eyes freak me. out a little bit. You get a lot of the different colored eyes
Starting point is 00:49:06 They're beautiful, but it's kind of, you know, it's you're a real dog, are you a robot? Are you AI? Look a wild, they're wild looking. And then you see some of the videos of how they kind of howl. They're very noisy. They're one of those, yeah. Yeah, it's almost like not even a dog noise.
Starting point is 00:49:25 It's very strong. Very wolfy. I'll find a video. Okay, thank you. I'll share with you. So good and bad news in San Diego. Good, could put a bow on. If you get a chance to go to the ballpark in San Diego,
Starting point is 00:49:37 make sure you take advantage of it. And it used to be empty because the team sucked. They're finally good. They got the gorgeous ballpark. They're paying people. $4,000 craft beers available. What are the Yankees in San Diego? Let's send Dean to San Diego to watch the Yankee.
Starting point is 00:49:51 He's not coming home if he does. That's San Diego. I'd love to go, yeah. Pacific Beach. I would love it. Tarp's off. It's playing beach volleyball. It's never that warm.
Starting point is 00:50:00 It's going to be that scene from Top Gun. We'll send him in July. It's cold. Oh, really? careful. That Gulf, that stream come down from Alaska, chilly water there. Master's Week, let us go to...
Starting point is 00:50:12 Man, I wish you could play the music. It would be so good. I know. Do we have a keyboard we could bring in and record? You hear it. Just think about it, and you hear it. It's in your brain. Time for the Masters.
Starting point is 00:50:22 Hello, friends. A golf tournament, unlike any other. I'm Jim Nance. Canadians wrote getting a warm-up round in. Four. They have enough for a four-sum this year. Remember it was just Mike Weird? nobody else?
Starting point is 00:50:35 And then it's like, well, this Cori Conner's pretty good. And hey, McKenzie Hughes won this year. He gets a master's invite. Adam Svensson just won. Look at these cats. That's a Swedish name, isn't it? Adam Svensson? I mean, yes.
Starting point is 00:50:48 We all come from places far away, I suppose, many of us, at least. Yeah, like Moldberg. Moldberg. Mexico. Anyway, they're all out there today having some fun. And we got some tea times for the Canadians and groupings as well. It's Svensson's first masters. Corey Connors is like a lock for top tens, apparently.
Starting point is 00:51:08 That's all he does here. We're won it, of course. We will play with Kevin Naa. Big live guy. Look out. Creasing dirty and so on. I don't... Conner's in a nice group with Dustin Johnson, Justin Rowe is this while.
Starting point is 00:51:22 That's a nice group. And Patrick Reed with Adam Swenson, nice guy. Patrick Reed, yes. If you, you know what? They say you're not trying. If you're not cheating, Patrick Reed is trying. That's one of the biggest triers in golf. Spencer, just give him a little...
Starting point is 00:51:34 right in the shin with your putter. Oh, sorry. I think I saw this morning. I was sorry, I step on your line? Sorry, Patty. Yeah, went for the practice round by himself.
Starting point is 00:51:45 That sounds like Patrick Reed things. I'm like, you going with anybody? No. It's a shame that Brooks and Bryson, and his live buddies weren't there with him. That would get the most hated threesome of all time. And Mac Hughes with a couple of beauty euros.
Starting point is 00:51:57 Shane Lowry, here's the thing you might want to factor in. I don't want to give way too many to trade secrets with the master's pool. The weather and a guy, is absolute horseshit for the world. No, I hate that. Round one Thursday is going to be beautiful. Look at 29, no problem.
Starting point is 00:52:11 But Friday, Hoet and Saturday, you may as well host the thing in a swimming pool. They might not play Saturday. I'm okay with that. The shoveler's leaving, I think, on Monday. So if I could have a round of golf to... So you're sick on Monday? Is that we're here?
Starting point is 00:52:27 You're watching it here? Live viewing party. But... So, yeah, if you're going to lean anywhere on your... sheets. Just remember which players, you know, grew up playing in shitty, rainy conditions. Shane Lowry. Brits. Irishman.
Starting point is 00:52:44 And, yeah, it looks like better Sunday, Monday. But will they be able to get 54 holes in through Saturday? That'll be a big question. Monday would, I know it works for you, but a lot of people would be very disappointed. I don't give it about the other people. That's great for me. You should know better than that by now. The hell difference is it.
Starting point is 00:52:59 It's probably better for me too, actually. Yeah, okay. Good. Let's just gas the show Monday. out of the house. I've done. I'm going to gas. I'm a gas.
Starting point is 00:53:27 Friday is a holiday. That's not gassing. When the holiday, it's a stat holiday. He will be gassy. It's my guess, either way. You doing a, because one of the, the, Monday, you're doing a big dinner? Easter dinner? Yeah, we got to do a big dinner. Yeah. Now, you, of course, we have Derek Newman on the afterburner program, the realtor in town. You only know him through email because of. Yeah, he's only taking my money through the master's pool. Well, if you win it, he would give you. He distributes it, I'm sure. But I have donated on numerous occasions. Are you in yet this year? Not yet. You're still doing your homework.
Starting point is 00:53:41 I need to get together with my golf gurus. Yes. Plural. Oh, yeah. It's a vast network. It's like my goalie guys, Dean. It's a lot of roots. Top 15 in the planet.
Starting point is 00:53:53 Could be. We'll find out next year. Certainly. Already, though. I mean, that's a lot of it. Can I just to have an observation here? I love that you continue to do. this to try and pull this
Starting point is 00:54:04 and it just keeps your microwave or your microwave and it just it's good it's a it's a it's a it's it doesn't go up there's a there's a little screw because this thing is as tight as she goes but then there's a little thing you need the Alan key in there and it doesn't really
Starting point is 00:54:20 what if you did this it only goes so far though eh hey wants it closer because he always used to give me shit for not it's uh get up to the mic no your thing was you would be like this and then you turn to talking about.
Starting point is 00:54:34 I'm not sure if you get. It comes back to the middle. You got to move the mic with you. That was the only thing. Fellas, the master's pool, I'd love to tell you, is there a master's pool?
Starting point is 00:54:45 We talked about it in yesterday's show before you had whatever, that thing where you reset the brain, the Ben in Black, you forgot about it. No one else is forgetting. We're up to 250 people already. That's less than, what,
Starting point is 00:54:56 24 hours since we posted the link? Didn't I tell you to do it? I did, you told me to do the, have you got your team? Have you got your team in? He's got his squad. Have you got your team?
Starting point is 00:55:06 Oh, yeah. Fuck, can't wait. Let's take a look at some of the decisions you're going to have to make here. There's an example. So we got four Canadians. Got to pick one there.
Starting point is 00:55:13 Steve Schaeffler? No, that's not it at all. Don't try to read. You're blind. Zander Bogart. Get your glasses on, man. Zander Bogarts. That's not.
Starting point is 00:55:21 Zander Bogartz. He's good. Look at the double glasses. This absolutely fucking kills me. Read us some names, Dato. All right. What do we got there? We got,
Starting point is 00:55:31 uh, McKinzzi. Moore, Steve Svensson, Patrick Connors, old Patrick Cantley, Patrick Cantley. He's American.
Starting point is 00:55:44 Justin Thurman Thomas. Thurman Thomas. This is a pro am? What the hell's going on here? Anyway, it's as simple as this. You just check the boxes. We'll announce prizing tomorrow, but you know, we got some friends in high golf places.
Starting point is 00:55:59 We got some cool things this part of the world, so expect it to be pretty awesome. free to enter. And if you got the best out of the 250 plus, you've been top three, you're going to be in the prize. Got to love it. So if you win the smoker, do you get to keep it? Well, that prick ain't here.
Starting point is 00:56:14 Yeah, that prick. I'm not a prick, but, you know. Kind of a prick. He lined us every day or that. A lot of good it did, hey? Really keep things on the up and up. Yeah, yeah, for sure that. Finally, we had some trouble with the video yesterday.
Starting point is 00:56:31 Let's go to Rhett renewing his vows Dodger Stadium of all places Southern California nice place for vacation Remind the ones you love Well you did both There's short commute Here's Rhett jumps the fence to make a proposal Pretty bold
Starting point is 00:56:44 And look back down to a knee Got to do this quick security's coming Shoveler! Shoveler! I love you Let's spend the rest of our lives together And there she is Oh she's so happy Look at this, it's a beautiful love story Oh God!
Starting point is 00:56:58 Son of us! Ouch! Now with that be considered unnecessary. I mean, if the ring's lost, I think that's a little over the top. If they delivered the ring back to them. Did they think it was a firearm? Holy moly. Yeah, they think he was lining up steadying a knee for a sniper rifle?
Starting point is 00:57:15 Come on, guys. You don't know. You don't know. I'll tell you one thing. These security guys do not miss a chance. Like, you get a chance. Look at them tee off on this. He went too far out.
Starting point is 00:57:24 He didn't have to run so far out. And you know what? He's got to be more aware of his surroundings. Yeah, has Perif. Yeah. His peripherals are not very strong here. He is absolutely. Oh, geez.
Starting point is 00:57:37 Hat and suns. That hurt everybody. Rings missing. That guy played some high snowball. So I'm right at the last second. Clunk. You miss 100% of the tackles you don't make, right? He knows that's his only chance of the day.
Starting point is 00:57:49 Bang. But yeah, he drops the ring for sure. Yeah, rings gone. Sunglasses. Hat. And you know what? That's being in love, right? When you are that smitten still with the shoveler,
Starting point is 00:57:59 it's tunnel vision. all you can see is there's the pink hues and your gal right there in front of you. So did he think he was going to get away with it? That he would just go down there, do the thing, and then just climb back up the wall? He gets the yes, and then he puts on the greatest jukeying exhibition since
Starting point is 00:58:14 Barry Sanders was a pro front running back. I don't know. Stupid for getting married and stupid for getting out in the field. Not just Rhett we've got video of. Recall, we caught Boomer doing some dancing in the stands a while ago. It was a couple months ago. It gets into it.
Starting point is 00:58:29 Dancing Boom. Love it. And I don't know where you were last night, but check this out. Dancing Boom is back, boys. Shorts, Dino. Long-sleeve shirt and shorts. My stampede shirt. I wait until you see Dino's boots here.
Starting point is 00:58:42 He is dialed here with the footwear. You're too good for the section. Get in an aisle. Let's go. I don't know about that shorts and long sleeves. You know what the thing is? I met this guy. Big calves, though.
Starting point is 00:58:56 To have the movement, right, to be able to do all those high kicks and stuff, it's not conduce. It's not conducive. Jeans don't work. And yet somehow, still the retro cowboy shirt. The dedication to the kit's pretty impressive. Thanks, pal.
Starting point is 00:59:10 And, uh, preish. You know, don't be so sheepish and shy. Break out those dance moves a little more. Makes you happy. Dancing's good for the soul. Only if I get paid. All right. I make good clink.
Starting point is 00:59:18 That guy does get paid. Yeah. It's weird. I think that's not even that guy that you're thinking of because that guy. It is that guy. I thought it's a different guy. Wow. Wow.
Starting point is 00:59:26 Yeah. It's the same stick for sure. Yeah. Yeah. That guy wrote a book. I think there's still good copies available. I was around him once and there was a lot of energy drinks being consumed.
Starting point is 00:59:37 Well, it's better than the alternative I had in mind that he was. Okay, very good. That's your Pinda Report. Brought to you by Village Honda, Northwest Automall Online, VillageHonda.com. Detailing packages. Wouldn't it be nice to get your car cleaned inside and out? Get that winter off of your rig. Book your detailing package today.
Starting point is 00:59:55 Your dealership for Life VillageHonda.com. You know I'm noticing now with the weather. All that melt and warm. Yep. It's like dog poops in the air. And now you're stomping that into your ride? Get that thing cleaned out. Because you go for a while where you're just going to spray it down
Starting point is 01:00:09 because you know it's probably going to get sloppy and dirty and all that again. I think you can do it now. Get the wax? Go and get her all done. Inside outside. Get that detailing done. Do you wax your car anymore? It used to be a thing.
Starting point is 01:00:21 I remember I'm my old man wax in the car. I don't. But I do like to use it at the car wash because it smells good. It smells like bubble gum. It does smell good. And it will. the water beads. It is oddly satisfying that the water beads off.
Starting point is 01:00:41 See, it's dirty, clean it, and then you get the old wax on and then just, and then beads off. Imagine how good there at Village Honda with the wax, too. Wasn't it Homer? Hot wax. Didn't he, Homer love the hot wax? Eat it? Yeah, I think so. I think that's how that went. Well, I mean, oh, I'm sorry. And in true spirit of, you know, the three of us idiots doing talking about sports and such, I've highlighted some of the great entries to the master's pool.
Starting point is 01:01:07 So some names. I specifically got a chuckle out of Winnipeg Airport being one of the team names. We have Pig Mask. Good to see Pig Mask back in the tournament. A lot of Walker Doers with a lot of use and ease. We got those in. We have Huckleberry Jam, which is great to hear. You like some HuckleBerry.
Starting point is 01:01:27 Sweathogs. Yeah. That's because that's a shout out. All that is a shout out. That's a shout out. Clark Wilm fan. Club is in the master's pool. That's great to see.
Starting point is 01:01:36 I don't know why, but... That's got to be him, right? I had two... I have two Clark Wilm jerseys in my bedroom. In case you lose one, you have home and away? What's the story? Like flames jerse? Someone play a prank on you?
Starting point is 01:01:53 Signed! Oh, yeah, yeah. You got to bring one in here. Bring one to the draft. Get it on the wall. That's good. That's true. All right.
Starting point is 01:02:00 Let's get her on the wall. We got too many stars. We don't have enough plumbers. We need some heart and solars up in here. Let's go away. Yeah, he led him to the playoffs. Sloppish, joined the tournament as well. That's a Rettism.
Starting point is 01:02:10 Does that be? Yeah, it was, yeah. Oh, damn. Boomer Shades, that's a new one, but it's not going to be, I think it's got staying power. Shoveler's side piece, that's a little concerning. And Rett's shoulders, Red's shoulders also in the Master's.
Starting point is 01:02:26 No word if Rett's shoulders is the same owner as. So can you give us, again, the loadout? Where do we find this? How do we do this? Social streams. There's a link, and you'll need just a short code, cut and paste it from our tweets. Throw it in.
Starting point is 01:02:41 And then all you do is pick from the boxes that's free and we'll have a golf theme. That will be won by the top three. It's weird. Scores. You want players that are good, that make the cut, and then we'll go aggregate score.
Starting point is 01:02:53 All right. You miss the cut. You're going to give it an 80. Get the bleep out of here. All right. That's what? Keep that in mind. Butter is mudd.
Starting point is 01:02:59 Don't give everyone advice? I'm trying to throw them off the center. I just. Just forged that weather report. I like Patrick on the A2. Bees? Beads. Beads? Beads. It's, yeah, beads. Beads.
Starting point is 01:03:12 These beads. I was going to show you know, let's, I want to do, you were talking about, is everybody just going to score how many hundred point players? I was laughing. Ryan Whitney was on chicklets. He was talking. I didn't play in this league. I played in a league, not this league, where it's goal.
Starting point is 01:03:33 Goals, goals, goals. You can't, no lead is safe, that whole thing. You've talked about it for years as well. This is a tweet, I was going to get to it yesterday. This is Pierre LeBron. Prior to last night, watching was it Joe, Robo Joe or whatever you call it? Robo. Yeah, Jason Robertson.
Starting point is 01:03:49 NHL averaging 6.37 total goals per game. Highest average since the NHL average 6.4, 8 goals per game in 93,94. NHL is on pace to have 12 players reach the 100 point mark. Jamie Ben won the NHL scoring title in 2014-15 with 87 points. 87. That'll be the 20th best score. Right? If that.
Starting point is 01:04:16 Oh, you're a little over a point per game, so that's pretty good, bud. How about the other thing? 12 players over 100, Oilers have three or will. I don't know if... Yeah, I mean, Nugent Hopkins is on pace to get there, no sweat. 12 players over a hondo. Imagine having, like, okay, Nugent Hopkins career, Dreisseld. they still have it's third.
Starting point is 01:04:34 They still have it's first, but it's like, it's not even that big of a deal, it seems in a weird way. He hit it last night. He's at 101 now. So you can throw him into that group. I don't know. I'm okay with it.
Starting point is 01:04:45 It's been a fun year. And look, do you turn off a game when it's a two-goal lead after 40? I'm telling you, when Red was playing, it's click. Like, it's over. You used to watch because there was fights and rough stuff.
Starting point is 01:04:56 And now you watch because there no lead can be protected and guys are scoring and the skill's amazing. It's something to cheer about. So do you do your hockey camps and stuff. You've got to change the way you're teaching these D. No, no, it'll swing back. Everything's like...
Starting point is 01:05:13 Did you hear Daryl? Because we played it, I don't know if we played it for you. When Daryl was asked... The 10 years ago thing? Yeah. About whichever game it was last week. They held on for a... Whatever, 2-1 or whatever the hell the score was.
Starting point is 01:05:25 It was against the L.A. Kings midweek, yeah. You must have been very happy. This is your kind of thing. And he says, oh, not really. maybe 10 years ago, my thing now is if you've got a one goal lead, get another one. Yeah. And it's, yeah, I guess 10 years ago, he was that it's a 2-1 league, it's a 3-2 league, you've got to lock it down, play defense, don't worry about it.
Starting point is 01:05:46 Now, I don't know if he honestly feels that way. He doesn't. I don't think he does that. But I feel like-content with a 2-1 or 3-to-win. I feel like it's probably good advice. If you sit back, you're probably F'd. Yeah, and we've seen that. them blow a lot of two goal leads.
Starting point is 01:06:03 I mean, they did it twice in Dallas, end up winning the game. They had that game in St. Louis, where it looked like it was in cruise control, and they coughed up that two goal lead. It's just way more difficult. You can't even, like, people always ask me to teach the kids
Starting point is 01:06:16 from, you know, coverage in front. It's like, you can't do anything. You'll stand beside that and try and tie it. Oh, just mug him, right? You know, in the old days, yeah. Power play. Oh, their power plays at 34%. So, what are we watching? I think power play percentage
Starting point is 01:06:33 would be higher than a shootout percentage now. Like if you could pick between the two, I think you pick the power play if you're a lot of teams, like the Oilers, absolutely. McLeod Law, they are Calgary-based, Calgary-born, and they are very proud of their Calgary roots. It's a big part of their longstanding client relationships. They understand this city, the people in it,
Starting point is 01:06:53 and the way that things work here. And like the communities they serve, McLeod Law team varied, diverse, sharing a commitment to making a positive impact in our community. There you see Peter Klein, personal injury lawyer, but McLeod Law,
Starting point is 01:07:08 full service law firm, MacLeod-Dashlaw.com is the website. And a little memory lane for you today. Remember Gary Souter? Man, maybe one of the most underrated flames of all time. Gary Souter,
Starting point is 01:07:22 heck of a player, as it turns out. Another one that maybe it was all about Al McKinnis. I mean, I'm not sure. If you talk to people who were season ticket holders, they would probably say, you're stupid. But I do feel like maybe Gary Suter,
Starting point is 01:07:36 it's a little forgotten how prolific he was. There he is. On this date in 1986, Gary Suter set the NHL record for most assists in a game by a rookie. Assists. In a game. In a game by a rookie.
Starting point is 01:07:52 He's a D-Man. Six helpers. Oh. Nice. That's a good night out. That's Badaard shit. Good job, Lanny. Just putting a puck in a day.
Starting point is 01:08:02 Probably all second assists, right? Second assists, yeah, probably just all second assists. Come on. And isn't that nice how they took that, if you're watching on YouTube, that photo they took of them and they put it over a 1940s back. It does look like he was. There's no board ads. It's all like where's the chicken wire?
Starting point is 01:08:16 Is it a black and white photo? Do we have lights in the rink? Jesus. 9 3 win against the Oilers. Oh, that feels good. Look, he's getting freight train. Moose is coming in on them. Oh, oh, dear.
Starting point is 01:08:28 So not bad as a kid, six assist game. Decent. Congratulations to Gary Suter. Now, this one, it's a little video that has nothing to do. And I mean, we'll tie it with McLeod Law, but it's not really any Calgary ties. But it was on this date in 1998. There was a bit of a humdinger.
Starting point is 01:08:49 Now, again, the video we could play it. This looks like it's out of the Stone Age. But this is the Islanders and the range. Those are the Captain Highlander jerseys. It is. And take a listen, because we had a good one here. Bill Berg This is Langdon and Charon
Starting point is 01:09:11 dancing out near the islanders Lula And now this is Linden and Burke The big fella Bill Burr I don't have to big fella Any fighting lessons or not But if I was him
Starting point is 01:09:25 I would get in and use my height and wait Because I don't think you saw him too often And right now he's not I don't know Look out And here Stalk D.J. Stock and Tchaikovsky
Starting point is 01:09:40 O'Marrousy O'Marrous See ya. Hang on. Here's, this is the wait for it part. You don't think Tchaikosky is a noted fighter. You don't think. Oh.
Starting point is 01:09:54 There's a big bookaboo. Yes. Dan Clucay. Bennington, has been known to get into fights in the minor league. Bennington, eat your heart out. Oh, he's out of the gear.
Starting point is 01:10:08 Now you're in trouble. Look at him feed. Tommy. Wow. Tommy. He's got a family. The Toy Crisp. Guys down. Stop.
Starting point is 01:10:24 Now wait for it here. Look at him. That sounds like Terry Crisp, too, call it. And how clutchie. Chalachie challenging the islanders bench. Oh, man. Wow. Chara's got to get loose here.
Starting point is 01:10:47 Come on. Langdon has still wants a piece of chera. Yeah. It cools down pretty quickly after this, but Dan Clucce was like, he likes the fight guy. Really? He was a hard head.
Starting point is 01:10:59 Now, Bucca boom, skating by the guy. I remember the beach ballster Clucce's legs like Sands through the Argos. I didn't remember the likes to fight guy, I think. Bucca boom beat the piss out of me in New York. Really? He was a straw.
Starting point is 01:11:10 Who? Lucaboo. Eddie him and Eddie were John, and I thought, oh, I'll help Eddie. Jovanoski. Jovo, yeah, good for you. Yeah, I really. What are you thinking? Did you buy you steak after that?
Starting point is 01:11:23 Jesus. You'd be like, yeah, Joevo, you show him a thing or two. Yeah, yeah, that's right. Yeah, you show him. So a couple things. First off, like, that is what you would stay for if it's 2-0 after 40. Yes, that's 100% what you see. It's that, you know, the Rangers are pissed.
Starting point is 01:11:39 They're going to start some shit. Let's go. Yeah, it was three nothing there. And then secondly, that was obviously before Zadano Char figured out how to fight. Now, Langdon's obviously no... I don't know. It's not true. Langdon is one hell of a fighter.
Starting point is 01:11:51 He was the smartest, maybe the smartest fighter of his era. I wouldn't contest that at all, but Zadano at the end of his career became that. With that reach, he just destroyed guys. I don't know that's a loss in a decade. I'm not saying that. I'm just... It was a different era. The guys that were fighting and...
Starting point is 01:12:09 Oh, yeah. That's a head of the... That's a good call. Because Chara was tough as hell. He beat the piss out of Joey Tataranko who's living around this area in junior, like, is as it gets. Okay, so he did know how to fight. I take that back.
Starting point is 01:12:22 Yeah. So depending on, because it was in 1998, so that's his rookie season. Charas. I remember the first game against him. There was a bit of a scrum in Florida. And I turned around and he was standing there. I'm like, oh, how?
Starting point is 01:12:37 Oh. Oh. You're a big fella. Well, how? Look at you. Look at that crest in the middle of your chest, which is at my eye level. You're enormous. How are you up there?
Starting point is 01:12:50 You freak. Yeah, he played 25 games, got 50 pims in his first taste with the islanders. And he was a fine wine, boys. Like, it kept getting better for him. He was terrible. Yeah, he was really bad in junior, and it was kind of one of those, like, project picks at the draft. he's so bloody big and then by the time
Starting point is 01:13:11 he's a free agent signing in Boston it's just all starting to click and he becomes a hall of favor at that point. Okay, so here's a question for her. Great. He's huge. If it wasn't that era where huge was everything,
Starting point is 01:13:24 Chris Wells, if you were tall, you got drafted. If it wasn't that era, the anti-small era, does he play at all? No. He wouldn't get the runway to develop.
Starting point is 01:13:35 There's no way. There were so many big, guys that got drafted. Big. He couldn't play. Just projects. Yeah. And like the only way it would happen, he would have to go Honest Craft in Europe or
Starting point is 01:13:47 the American League or something, probably Europe. Because honestly, the American League, all those spots are. And he was such a bad player at the beginning. I don't know that he'd be good in Europe. Like bigger ice. I don't know. But that's the best free agent signing in the history of the league. I believe that.
Starting point is 01:14:01 July 1, Boston. It feels like a career brun. He had a couple stops before that, Ottawa and the Islander. and he's a Hall of Famer for basically Boston on to the end. I just remember back, and this was when you were in junior, and so you had guys like Dingman and B. Lack. Chris McAllister. Right.
Starting point is 01:14:22 And then every once in a while, a kid would show us, I don't know who this guy is. Oh, it's his second or third WHL game. And he'd be bigger. They just brought in guys to see, well, he can fight, but can he play at all? And the answer was, no, he can't play at all. And that those big guys got to the NHL, I don't know.
Starting point is 01:14:45 It's either you had to be really good fighting or you had to have some kind of skill. But yeah, it was the blinders were on so bad in terms of, well, yeah, he's a skill guy. Brian Murray traded Stu Barnes and Jason Woolley for Chris Wells because he was six-six. Well, remember, you went down to Florida All-Star Week and you played in that Panthers alum thing. And we started talking about Peter Warr L. I don't know if he was there. You saw him or we just talked about him because he's a former panther. But like skating backwards?
Starting point is 01:15:14 No. In the NHL. He could hardly skate forwards. And so this was the area you played in. And that's kind of like back to the starting point where you were with Whitney. Like that doesn't happen today. And that wasn't uncommon. It might be the biggest example of it of that era.
Starting point is 01:15:28 But if you could beat the tar out of someone, the rest really didn't matter a ton. Because remember Scott Parker? I don't know that he was. You don't want to throw anybody under the bus. It was the era that it was, but yeah, they were not being taken because they could skate or score or play hockey. Remember when Steve McIntyre, what, 6-8 of the Oilers, just right as Yvonans, the Latvian,
Starting point is 01:15:51 that punch lands. He didn't resume cardio activities for over a year. And he was in the Flames Farm System after taking a full season. Like, it was spooky big humans. It was not like, hey, go score. It's like, you're going to get five minutes. And on those five minutes, you should be in the box for five minutes. That was your job.
Starting point is 01:16:09 The league went from tough, scrappy. Everyone kind of fought but weren't... They played hockey but got emotional and got in a scrap, right? Yeah. Two, these guys are professional fighters. This is nuclear weapon stuff now, right? They've got two. We need another.
Starting point is 01:16:25 We only got one. I was just looking. Nolan Yankman was a guy that came to my mind, but he actually played a little bit in the NHL. It says, you know, 6-6. but I remember the first time the Colonna came in. You didn't see Colonna all the time. It's like, what is this guy?
Starting point is 01:16:42 6-6-2, whatever the hell he was. This guy was, he was a box car. I think he played in Houston in the A. It was like spooky big. Yeah, I was looking here. That's the other thing you don't think about. Sorry for an interruption. It was the minors.
Starting point is 01:16:55 There was tough guys in the NHL. They may have been tougher in the minors. Because you had to prove if there was one injury or there was one matchup coming up, like, oh, crap, this team's coming to town. We need a tough guy up from the miners. So what the HL was is, who's the toughest competition so we can get called up? Because making 80 grand's nice, but 800 grand's better. Let's go.
Starting point is 01:17:19 Yeah. I was good of you to jump in there for Jovo. Yeah, he could have used your help for sure. Real good. That is a little memory lane for you. Oh, look at this. You're in San Antonio. That's what it was not at Princeton.
Starting point is 01:17:32 I like that. Now they retired Chris Neal's number, didn't we? I don't understand. They didn't retire Rob Reyes, Neal, but the number, Rob raised Neil. Rob Ray's number, but they do retire Chris Neal. This is an Alex special, by the way. We do talk about this, and I,
Starting point is 01:17:49 there's no real way, I guess, you could just look at numbers or games played, but I do think that Chara has to be the greatest July 1 ad. I mean, Marion Hosa was great for the Hawks. won cups there, but they... And then, you know, it's a 12-year deal, and he's alerted to his equipment. The whole...
Starting point is 01:18:07 They finished that chariot, UFA deal, signed him again, and then it was one-year, one-year-one. Like, he was a captain. They went to the cup finals twice. He set the tone culturally with Bergeron. Norris. Norris. I'm sorry.
Starting point is 01:18:19 He did everything. Yeah. And what was Ottawa thinking? Well, you know, they had Chris Phillips back there. Was Wade still? Wade Redden. They kept Redden instead of him. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:18:29 Wade Redden got some good time. It was just a purely run. I don't understand because there was no salary cap, I don't think, at that time. Was there? Or did it just come in? I think it would have just come in and Ottawa wouldn't have been a high spending team. And it was like, you've got these three guys, Redden, Phillips, Chara? Like, who do you like?
Starting point is 01:18:48 And Redden was a hell of a player in Ottawa. Hartford, too, after the Rangers sent him down with three years left. Alex is very, he wants you to know that the senators went to the final the year after they lost Chara. So if they didn't give Char away, they would have won the cup final, Alex. Wow. That's how close to him at all. That's how close they were. Didn't miss him at all.
Starting point is 01:19:09 McLeod Law, personal injury lawyers, there's none better. They'll take the stress off of your shoulders. You deal with your injury. They've got the rest. Legal insurance, medical claims, you recover. You're not alone. And McLeodlaw will see to it that you get the best care possible. McLeod-dashlaw.com social media at McLeodlaw, LLP.
Starting point is 01:19:30 And there you see the number and the email address. for Peter Klein on your screen. McLeod Law, great partners. Appreciate you. And I feel like Tommy Sallow gave him a call. I tried to have Clucay running. Holy crow. Peter Klein, I got assaulted by Cluchet.
Starting point is 01:19:46 Tommy Sallow. What was he thinking? Because he left the crease. Why did Tchaikoski getting dumbed by PJ Stock who's taking advantage of a guy that can't and never has five? I think Tchaikoski is Polish. He's like, I'm coming in to help my Euro buddy. He's supposed to be a great dude.
Starting point is 01:20:01 Yeah, that's right. I don't think Cherkovsky is much of a fun. Oh, that is a hot take for you. He's just eating lefts from PJ Stock. Stock knew what he was doing there. That was like, that was a fun one for a lot. Oh,
Starting point is 01:20:15 just just picking a spot looking around. Okay, taken, taken, taken, take and taken. Oh, don't tell me that guy's left.
Starting point is 01:20:21 Yes, perfect. Thank you. Uh, see what, I'm just trying to, where is it? You're putting out your hair or?
Starting point is 01:20:29 No, no, there's no bald spot. You're okay. You're good there. Good, good coverage. Oh, there. There, see it?
Starting point is 01:20:37 That's Bill. We're giving away that jersey. That one. Bill? Right there. Right there. It's autographed. See, it's got a signature right there.
Starting point is 01:20:50 That's not awkward at all, eh? Right there. Hubertoe, Jersey signed, giving it away, courtesy of the hearing loss clinic. Hearingloss.com. Hearingloss.ca is their website. And what do we say Let's do
Starting point is 01:21:08 I know that I was going to say we'll do it Friday Because Friday's good Friday It'll be a nice treat for somebody I don't know I don't want to be disrespectful Maybe you don't do that sort of thing on good Friday Well I won't be here Friday so Yeah well either I'm just but what I was saying was social media
Starting point is 01:21:21 Oh gotcha Because that's how you're going to enter We're going to do something on social media You'll have the hearing loss clinic There's the social media addresses there Or the whatever you call it the accounts for Instagram and the Twitter and we'll put it on the Flames Nation and ours and all of that.
Starting point is 01:21:35 So a chance for you to win a sweet Huberto jersey autographed courtesy of hearing loss clinic. Hearing loss. com. Oh, Rhodesy. Coming through with the Yerzies. How's Roosie getting these things? I don't think we need to ask. We just keep giving them away.
Starting point is 01:21:52 Hey, guys, I've got some stuff to give away. I'll off back of a truck. It's not a big deal. That's right. Need a CD player? Is that part of that train accident the other day? Remember the train accident in Montana? Yeah, beer.
Starting point is 01:22:01 It's what it was. Again, you talk about good people. It's the hearing loss clinic in 1993. It was founded with a simple mission to help make a positive difference in people's lives. Every aspect of your life tied to your hearing or lack thereof. You may not even know it. Go for an assessment today.
Starting point is 01:22:20 Book yourself in for Calgary locations. And even if you just feel like something not quite right, go in there, there's no pressure. And you'll have the best in the business. taking a look for you. A piece of mind never hurts. That's right. At the hearing loss on Twitter,
Starting point is 01:22:37 the hearing loss clinic on Instagram, hearing loss.ca. How's your hearing? My mom can't decide if DUG should go in or she likes that he can't hear anything. Yeah, he should go in. I think he should go in, but then just say, oh, no,
Starting point is 01:22:51 it's not good. There's nothing they can do. And I obviously have. Wink, wink. Yeah. You know what those, the hearings? They're on off buttons. My old man pulls this move all.
Starting point is 01:23:01 times. Oh, sorry. Sorry, I need, nope. You know what it is for me? I canvass my kids now, because I'll be in the kitchen or I'll be in some area of the house. And then the woman that I live with will be, and you can't. I got hearing, bad hearing, whatever, but you can't hear. So then I'll look around one of my kids. Now, did you hear what, can you hear her? No, right? Why, how come you can never hear me It's because you don't, you're not speaking loud enough. You're on another floor. That's just not fair.
Starting point is 01:23:34 See that all the time. Turn out the volume. Roadsie. So when are you, you got something up your sleeve here with Roadsie, don't you? Well, soon. Yeah. Yeah, very soon. Good.
Starting point is 01:23:47 Yeah, very soon, gonna get in there. Peace of mind's good for you. Fagger it out. So watch the Soch for that Bill Huberto behind me. Billy! That's right. I mean, who else could it be? Who else could it be?
Starting point is 01:24:00 Did you know, Rasmus Anderson? Should he get a point tonight? New career high. It's been a rather interesting career progression. He just gets a little bit better every year to the point where he's running the first power play. And you're like, yeah, that's probably where he should be. Oh, he's 50 point D man. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:24:19 Nice. 50 point D man. Come on. That's all fine and good. I mean, what's Rett teaches him about to play a two-on-one? I mean, the guy's basically an all-star. Yeah, that's true. You ate as two-on-one.
Starting point is 01:24:29 There was a restaurant. I do. Does anyone out, like, has anyone liked how he played? Is it two on one? I think he's trying his very best. Okay, well, that's good enough, then. I can see both your points. There you see it.
Starting point is 01:24:41 Well, he tried. Spin, spin, spin, spin. Oh, 11 goals, 38 helpers, 49 points in 74 games. Oh, yes, yes, yes. 50, hey? Wow. So what do we see there? I don't know if I, great, but we can't brag up 50. Guys are getting 100.
Starting point is 01:24:58 I know. Yeah, I mean, let's keep in mind that this was not a guy. Oh, he's going to run the power player one day. You did. You said Val Mack. He was going to be the one. God, if he is in Arizona, fuck me. Lube said he was fat.
Starting point is 01:25:11 Right? He was. That's why you got him in the second round. He said he was a little bit lazy and unfit. A little bit lazy, a little bit unfit. If he's in shape in his junior draft year, he's not going late second round, fellas. So what do we want there?
Starting point is 01:25:25 Milestones in the next week and a half. We know Tifoli's... I don't want any damn milestone. What are you talking about? Let's make the play. You're just the typical new age hockey guy. Oh, we've got to have milestones instead of team success. He's building a little trench here, I think.
Starting point is 01:25:43 I'm with you, Rhett. Honestly, all these guys would say, screw it. Screw these numbers. Let's just get in. Let's worry about our playoff totals. Come on, dobs. What's he got there? 18?
Starting point is 01:25:52 That's tied. You're tied for a career high for goal. Score because you're helping the team win. Yeah, all right. Jeez. Not so that you can get the puck with the take. A tape around it. 20th goal.
Starting point is 01:26:04 I don't know that you'd be able to 20. Forward. Now, again, I'd need to go back and hockey deep be it, but I don't think Huberto is in any danger of crushing any career highs. No, no, no, no, no, no. If he wants to do a playoff career high,
Starting point is 01:26:16 that'd be lovely. But the regular season stuff, that's long gone. You want to be good here. You want to start today. Even go back to Vancouver. Huge goal. After the missed penalty shot, yes.
Starting point is 01:26:27 Huge goal in Vancouver. So you just start there. Yeah, start there. With that ship, move forward. He's been good. 10 more points. How many games left? Five.
Starting point is 01:26:34 10 points. That'd be lovely. No, only if the team's winning, though. I don't want him to get points, Dean, if it's just about personal achievement. That's right. Me too. Tyler To Foley, 15 points in his last 10 games. What a monster he's done.
Starting point is 01:26:47 Remember last year, he was not invisible, but you just kept waiting for him to break through. Do you remember who he played with? I don't want to put you on the spot. I know, but he can shoot the puck. He was still on the power play. Yeah, power play that's, I, I, listen to that. He just seemed a long ways away. If you're playing with like a dube and a yarn croak, who's getting you the puck in the scoring
Starting point is 01:27:08 spots? I know what you're trying to do. But he, I mean, it didn't ever look like he had a good fit in that lineup because the Backland Manjapani Coleman thing was so good. And there was no way you were breaking up Lynn home Kachuk-Ked-Row. It was a tough, weird puzzle piece. Maybe you should. Not until the end of the season anyway. Then it got broken up. Real quick. Yeah. Oh, yeah, I see what you're saying. Ouch. Yeah. So Markstrom tonight. Yeah, we haven't really talked about. Markstrom versus the Jets. There's no question.
Starting point is 01:27:37 It's must win games and that's Daryl's philosophy. Yeah. And we saw some people out of the market being like, wow, Vladar on Wednesday and with it. No, no, no, you haven't been watching Daryl, have you? This will be the third back-to-back this year with travel that he's going with the same guy. Yeah. Three back-to-backs. Two for Markstrom, one for Vlidar where they played both. so it's not new territory.
Starting point is 01:28:02 And it'll be the third for Markstrom tomorrow unless something goes haywire here. Yeah. Notable games. But again, but you say it's guaranteed wind night, so. I'm not worried about tonight. Flames Jets tomorrow in Winnipeg.
Starting point is 01:28:17 Jets are sitting and waiting, feeling good. Since Sunday before the flames wrap. They're carb loading right now. Is that what you do? Oh, big time. Is that what you do? Best Italian joint in Winnipeg can't get in.
Starting point is 01:28:28 Jets just staying in. there camped up. What do you want? Spaghetti or is it? Ben ate at this time. Spaghetti. Isn't that the tag that you'd love to? Take some tag.
Starting point is 01:28:37 Some bread? Yeah. Do you have some bread there too? To olive oil. Yeah. Hey, you've been back for like three or four days. Have you... Nope.
Starting point is 01:28:45 You got it. Well, I had all that food from Bontan so I wasn't going to do it. Soon enough. Then you get me busy doing this afterburner stuff. Man, a lot of my plane. Yeah. Well, and you're in the right time zone. We can actually...
Starting point is 01:28:58 That's nice to have you here. it's good stuff. Get to the boom cat, a little extra rest. Never hurts. Yeah, look how a cheer he is. Yeah, I know. It's been great. I want to tell you about tourism, Jasper.
Starting point is 01:29:10 Summer, right around the corner. Right around the corner, golf course opens May 31st. Lakes, very soon thawing. You'll be canoeing or rafting before you know it. Or cold plunging. Oh, yes, Rhett's a big cold plunger. I got, okay, I'll get through this and I'll talk to you. the Jasper sky tram open.
Starting point is 01:29:33 Hot the front country camping reservations open. Backcountry, open. Start booking. Get your summer plans in place. And why not, Jasper? Still some skiing. This sky tram is something else. I just pulled up some images.
Starting point is 01:29:47 Yeah. They got a lot going on up there. And I was ignorant to it because I had never been. So when we went in January, I just kind of, oh, so that's a, oh. What's what is about here? Don't mind this little setup. Great skiing, the Marmot Basin.
Starting point is 01:30:02 They have the half-price lift tickets, the escape card. That's good till the end of the year. Conditions are still great. Yeah. There it is, folks. Go online, check it out. Book yourself in Venture Beyond with Tourism Jasper. Sky Tram, do you afraid of heights?
Starting point is 01:30:20 You're good. I'm not great. I'm not good either. I don't feel like I'm afraid, but I don't think it's a human, enjoy. It shouldn't be natural to like be on a hundred meter thing and look over and not have a little. I think that's part of the human body. Like, hey,
Starting point is 01:30:34 don't kill yourself, idiot. You ever do the bungee jump? No, that's exactly what it is. I did it. Your whole body's fighting. South Africa and your body,
Starting point is 01:30:41 your brain's going, you're not really considering this, are you? No, no, no, no, no, no. It's against everything. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:30:48 So take us into the, uh, it was a shoveler's fault. I was trying to impress at the time. I wouldn't do it now because I wouldn't care. But at the time, I was trying to impress. and she was all excited for this bungee jump and adrenaline.
Starting point is 01:31:03 Then I had to go first. Oh, yeah, yeah. Remember, Stan? And then that's what they say, right? They get you up to the edge. And they start talking to you, asking your questions, because they don't want to. Your brain turning on.
Starting point is 01:31:15 Okay, so is it a platform? Is it like a rock or? No, no, we're a bridge over a big crevasse and a creek in a valley. Like you're plunging to your death if that snaps. Well, you hope so. Yes, quick. Yeah. I would not want that if I was the shoveler fall in love with this long-armed professional athletes.
Starting point is 01:31:34 You don't want them dying. So yeah. Maybe that's why your arms are so bloody long. It's stretched out. Too much bungee jumping. So what is your, so you have to override the brain saying, don't do this dummy. You're just. And then as you're falling, you're like, oh, this is terminal velocity.
Starting point is 01:31:47 Yeah. And I had my eyes closed and I'm like, well, you might as well view it. If it's happening. If I'm going down a mess, we'll see. The hell difference doesn't make. Is there a white light? They're gates? What are what happens here?
Starting point is 01:31:59 Now, have you jumped out of an airplane? No. I don't want to jump out of the airplane because you have to be attached to someone else. And I'm like, no. What if it's at one of your friends? I feel like if I'm jumping out of the plane, there better be somebody with me.
Starting point is 01:32:13 I need someone that knows what they're doing here. If you could just control all this apparatus here, gadgetry? That'd be great if you could handle that. Just cliff jumping ever? That's another one. A little taste of that feeling, but not the full. I like those.
Starting point is 01:32:25 I like watching. I could never do. do it those clowns with the flying suits. Oh my God. They just go jump off. What are they call them the squirrel suits or something? Where they open the arms, they get the little flaps. Dumb.
Starting point is 01:32:37 It feels a little unnecessary. Yeah. And the thing is, somebody was the first to do it. Yeah. What do you think if I put this on and then like jumped off? Do you think it would? Well, and there's also the first guy that does it in lives. And those are often two different people.
Starting point is 01:32:52 You've got to be wild. Like, I'm telling you. You know, if I hold them out. You see the flying squirrel there. We could do that. I'd be able to do that, right? So the cold plunge. Really good for you.
Starting point is 01:33:03 It's, this is, you know what it is? I feel like it's very trendy. Everybody's talking about it. It's been around. Yeah, but I told you about it 10 years ago. And you go to different hotels and they have like the cold pools and stuff. Sure. You get a Nordic spot.
Starting point is 01:33:16 It's a big thing, right? Nordic spa. What is it, what is it your body does? Because it goes into, it shocks your system and it. It zaps you with a bunch of dope. mean that lasts for instead of half an hour, six hours. You also get, it promotes a lot of circulation if you go hot. It also, yeah.
Starting point is 01:33:35 It, it, it, it, I don't know the technical terms, but there's a white fat and a brown fat in the body. Right. You don't want the white fat. It helps to eliminate the white fat. Really? The brown fat. The white fat. You want the brown fat.
Starting point is 01:33:50 You don't want the white fat. I've been doing it all wrong. I got so much. You got the wrong thing. I think I knew people did this in other parts of the world, and you're like, yeah, whatever. And then you always see, oh, it's, we're going to do a Christmas Day plunge. You know, like, these people are crazy.
Starting point is 01:34:06 But I saw it coming into popularity when Rett's Twitter, he had retweeted some, like, cold punch guru who's doing like three hours at a time. See, this is the old, and I'm like, oh, my God, this guy's got a TV show. Like, what the hell's happening in society? Wim Hof. He's got a cold punch show. A T-shirt and shorts. Wim Hof.
Starting point is 01:34:26 and you've got to breathe. It's all about. Brimhoff is mostly the breathing. But the cold forces you to breathe, right? But it's another one of those things for your brain where you're like, you can do it. Because your brain's telling you, don't be stupid.
Starting point is 01:34:40 Get out of this cold wall. Why do you want to be in this cold? It's not cool. You can do it, Dean. You just have to believe. To our way bets of the day. How do you believe in those? Oh, no.
Starting point is 01:34:52 Look at this. Is this one of those squirrel suit that's got to be? Oh, yeah. Like, I'm sorry. You just like, you're, You're how close to dying here? And how do you know? This one's awesome.
Starting point is 01:35:01 Oh, boy, this is going to hurt. Get out of here. Oh, come on. No. Stop. If you're not seeing this, these are these flying squirrels guys. They're not just falling. They're aiming these things and flying like planes.
Starting point is 01:35:16 Get out of here. How do you slow down and be done? Or do you throw a shoot? I think they got a shoot in that backpack. There's no graceful landings there. Well, how did you get up that high on a mountain? just begin with. Helicopter.
Starting point is 01:35:29 Yeah, Red Bull Copper. Let's go. Chopper. It'd be like a heli-skine, right? Oh. Yeah, you're right. The first guy doing this? Didn't make it.
Starting point is 01:35:43 How do you? Yeah, I... It would be an unbelievable sensation. You're flying. You're flying. That's exactly the sensation. Some superhero shit. Okay.
Starting point is 01:35:54 So you have a flying squirrel suit. What's the thing? the highest. What's the one place you'll go and try it that you would actually try it? Bad shoulders. I really don't think I'd do it. Top of the house? Top of the garage. On to a trampoline.
Starting point is 01:36:09 You need a big drop to get enough speed to use them. High jump mats on the grass. Can't you see him on his roof just opening and falling right on his face plant? Like, oh man. Yeah. This is insane. Is this AI or is this real? So yeah, Heights. Don't like it. I got
Starting point is 01:36:25 stuck in my roof one time, putting up Christmas lights. There's no good. How'd you get down? Fireman. Firefighters. Yeah. It was a big scene. It's the shit. Betway bets of the day and then we'll get out of here.
Starting point is 01:36:36 God, are we keeping Alex too late? Sorry. Are we half past? Holy. We got to get out of here. Bet we best of the day. Or somebody else's show is starting late. Who comes on after us?
Starting point is 01:36:47 Who cares? Tuesday. It's the oilies guys? Yeah. Betty. Betty betty of the day. Get the bitway app on your phone. along, be responsible, be 19, enjoy yourself.
Starting point is 01:37:03 Going to the Flames and Blackhawks matchup for tonight. Brought his name up yesterday, and like you said, just be good from here on out. Yep. Come on. We'll forget about everything else to this point if you just want to kick it into high gear. Mangapani, two goals in his last three games, anytime goal tonight for Manj, plus 200. Oh, yeah. And then an anytime power play point for Tofoli is plus 175.
Starting point is 01:37:34 Man, just four away from 20. If he hit that with that first half, that'd be pretty impressive. Let's go. Not like 35 rolls impressive. Okay, my bets. I'm also riding the flames against the hawks. McKenzie Weeger has been putting up points, playing some good hockey, and he gets moved back to a pairing with Rasmus Anderson,
Starting point is 01:37:52 where he's had some great success with TANF, theoretically returned to the lineup a single point minus 105. That's almost even money. And Rasmus on the man advantage plus 240 for a power play point. Chicago's power play ain't the worst, but they've been the shit's the last eight. Again, outscored 39-13 their last eight games, all losses. Get them early, fellows, and get some points. That Anderson one came through for me the other night.
Starting point is 01:38:17 Yep. Power play goal. He had the second assist on that. I was going to go with that, but I shake it up. Hey, man. Shake it up. You do you. There you go.
Starting point is 01:38:26 Those are the Betway bets of the day on guaranteed win night. Oh, boy. I suddenly feel much better about this one. I'm going to pop some corn and just chill the F out. Cold plunge and some corn. Yeah, get some corn and be ready for retina and I and after burn it tonight. Are you, so you're not at all that the Hawks really weren't that good either when they beat the flames twice already this season?
Starting point is 01:38:50 Flames are dialed in. They're focused. It would be tough too. approach the hawks with the same lack of intensity they did the first two times around, given the stakes and the tight, small number of remaining games. Unless you're thinking about Winnipeg tomorrow. Ah! Son of it.
Starting point is 01:39:07 Go get them, plimes. It's either going to be the worst. The world's game is so big. Yeah, it's going to be Letdown Bill or the biggest game of the year tomorrow. Tune in for that. Thanks, buddies. That's Barnberry. We'll see you.
Starting point is 01:39:24 Oh, yeah. The Oilers suck. There you go. See you tomorrow, buddies.
