Starting point is 00:00:04 Ho, ho, ho. Are we feeling it? Hold friends. Are we feeling it? It's coming. I was blasting some carols yesterday. He's out in the cold weather. Feeling it.
Starting point is 00:00:22 Christmas trees getting a little full. Living it, Dean. Are you living it? Yeah, brother. Nice. Nail it. What Christmas carols are we blasting? What are we?
Starting point is 00:00:32 I've played Christmas carols. since Thanksgiving, American Thanksgiving. And I've gotten so adept, I've gone from jazz to pop to country to classic to instrumental. I am, I'm every day, it's something different, Dean. Something different.
Starting point is 00:00:50 You want to come over? I'd love that. Something different. Yeah, I would love that. Yeah. Practice getting the boys ready yesterday. And the kids hate it, but the parents think it's good. Well, no, because you can get them the new groovy ones.
Starting point is 00:01:01 Like the latest Grinch movie, you got Tyler the Creator making tunes. he's like a hip hop guy i turned on the new grinch movie and i left my kid to watch it well he's animated or the acting one animated okay and it's no good and he said and my wife came home and it wasn't on and he i so i asked him i said grinch no good he goes no i already knew what happens in the grinch there's been so many editions i don't even know if i can keep him straight like how many times is that loser go down the hill on the sled and steal press like enough we get it he's grumpy look at that guy he looks like the grinch today
Starting point is 00:01:34 this guy yeah you get to scowl on there there it is all your little hooville idiots you're in trouble stop smiling so much out there you there you go what is the greatest christmas movie i started watching so i turned the tube on and i'm trying to do the family stuff because the big dope's home and Christmas vacation was on. Yeah. And I was chuckling on the couch and I thought this is going to draw him in. Like they're at an age, this is good. Like he falls down the ladder and the lights don't work.
Starting point is 00:02:16 Sure. Nothing. Shitter's full. It was they were okay with it for 20 minutes. That's their attention. And then they started to scatter. Yeah. They're losers.
Starting point is 00:02:31 Now, did I see they did a, like a reboot with like Clark and the Fed, like, like Chevy? Yeah. On, like on prime or something. I thought and now maybe they were effing around. I know they did it for a commercial. A year or two ago. Yeah, I kind of remember the. The Cape bucket or something like that.
Starting point is 00:02:52 And they kind of rejigged it. But, uh, yeah, I don't know. Best, uh, best, best Christmas movie. That's Christmas music. I just think like, because obviously you're skewed in. just age like my kids aren't i can't do the christmas vacation yeah that's a little too early but like home alone absolutely slays they love all the physical comedy some good acting in there i don't know something about that just doesn't get old yeah calkin home alones are good one and two are solid
Starting point is 00:03:19 too yeah after um well i think i was saying uh kind of about american thanksgiving i said we had one of those things made up and then you guys said oh that's a calendar i said that's right right But we put together a chart with days on it and then wrote down, okay, who's here for supper? Who's got something? Who's got ringette? Who's got whatever? Put it in there because you know what's going to happen? We're going to get right up against it.
Starting point is 00:03:41 And then all of a sudden, well, we didn't make the cookies that we always want to make. We didn't get to watch the movie that we always want to make or that we want to watch. So we have got, I'm saying the one kid wanted the Muppet Christmas Carol. It's all right. You said that that was. Yeah, it's not great. And even for me, who was a kid when the Muppets were a thing, the Muppet show was kind of a thing then. We watched the Jim Carrey Grinch, which to me is still tremendous.
Starting point is 00:04:12 I actually saw Carrie talking about it. He said, because when he was doing the makeup, it was, I forget how many hours a day. Oh, yeah. Every day. Now he had, he had like Navy SEAL training, mental training to keep from losing his mind every single day. It was like torture for him for however long it took. Could you not, can you imagine how much the world's changing in that? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:37 He said with CGI and some stuff, I would entertain doing another one. But if not, I'm, we'll never again. And then they asked, well, what about the mask? Same thing. If the CGI and if the, the technology allows it, then I would do it again. What's his latest? I don't want to get too sad track, but like, well, he's in the Sonic stuff, right? Sonic the Hedgehog.
Starting point is 00:04:56 Oh, yeah. It's been brutal. That's gross. That's hard times. Yeah, I don't have cuckoo for a while. Yeah, isn't he an artist? Come on we all. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:09 Yeah, he likes to paint and do artsy arts. We should do one day. Actually, speaking. Just Bob Ross. The chubler went to one of those whiny, painting. Yeah, yeah. And painted the Grinch's hand. Just got blasted.
Starting point is 00:05:22 Stealing the last thing off the top of the tree there. Well, yeah, yeah. I know our buddies at origin. They have a beery drinky thing. As opposed to a whiny drinky thing. There's is a beery drinky thing. So you can go to the tap room in Strathmore and get beery and painting. Beery painting.
Starting point is 00:05:43 Yeah. You can check it out online. Thank you, Penty, beery Penty. Yeah, I guess that's what I was trying to say. So we got it. Can I interrupt you for one second? Go ahead. Because Jack is of a different era than, you know, Ryan's kind of on the,
Starting point is 00:05:57 outskirts of our era. Jack, what's your favorite Christmas movie? Elf. Yeah, okay. That's going to get into the rotation because my kids, I think, like that one. They will love. I've only seen it once, maybe. Oh, Elf is big. Yeah, Elf, I'm surprised they haven't.
Starting point is 00:06:15 They will love it. I think you've seen it once, but I think it's now part of the, like, okay, on the 24th, we're doing a movie marathon, dun, dun, done, those are the three. Home alone, I have to have Elf, and then we'll find another one. Yeah, yeah. I'm trying to think it's about it you know you kind of get into it at least ones that everybody can kind of agree on everyone they'll watch home alone everyone's in for elf pretty much everybody's in for the Grinch but then you start getting into some of the other what
Starting point is 00:06:43 about what about the old ones uh I love it's a wonderful life I like I was telling you I like watching that Christmas Eve it's kind of a but there again you're going to be watching it by yourself you've got a bullet cool book yeah you are going to be sitting by yourself for any matter of moments because they're going to go. Yeah, we got to do Christmas. What's the Christmas movie where the kid
Starting point is 00:07:08 sticks his tongue to the pole? That's dumb and dumber, Jack. No. And he gets the BB gun for Christmas. What's it called? Is that a Christmas story? Christmas story. Yeah, Christmas story. Yeah, Christmas story. Yeah. That one, that one slipped right through my childhood.
Starting point is 00:07:24 Never got that one. Never did get that one. Oh, we watched one the other night. almost despite ourselves. Okay. The new Lindsay Lohan Netflixy thing. I mean, I've seen worse. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:43 You know, here's what it is. The person's choice. Completely new kind of a, kind of a slant on a movie. A girl moves away, comes back, finds old flame, rekindles. Spoiler out, I'm sure. That's such easy there. But, you know, it was like, She was in a skiing accident and had a brain injury and can't remember anything,
Starting point is 00:08:07 but her lover, her ex-boyfriend. Speaking of injuries, did you see that picture? I did. We can't show that. I'm going to say it. All you parents that are, the kids are going out on the ODR, put your helmets on. All your kids out there playing on the ODR, beautiful game. Love your boys.
Starting point is 00:08:28 Make sure you're wearing your helmets. Okay. Okay, Ryan. And like we're, he's trying to actually be serious about it. There's a young man who had, has a serious. He's getting serious surgery this morning because he was out on the ODR last night. Which for those who don't know means the outdoor rink. If you're out on the pond or on the outdoor rink.
Starting point is 00:08:46 Yes. Because it's not seem very cool to go into Tuk. I can see my one kid being, yes, like just. Tell your. Imagine how cool I'll be if I don't wear my helmet. Bang, Puck to face. Oh, they're going to scream and yell at you when you say you have to wear your helmet. I hate you.
Starting point is 00:09:01 Yeah. You're the biggest loser ever. Yeah. Right, but you're not going to have surgery tomorrow. So, you know, E. Stevie. Here, just let me get a horse and kick you in the head. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:11 Oh, did I see the, uh, did I see the words hematoma in there somewhere? Yes. Not good. And nerves and no. Yeah. Nerves are quick healers. Yeah. If you like bite your tongue or you cut the inside of your mouth,
Starting point is 00:09:24 heals real quick nerves. Nah. Long time. Arteries as well. Kind of. Don't like that. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:30 Yeah. Well, I mean, these are the, no, that's good. Look, see, we're very festive. Very festive. On a game day, get your helmet on. It's the Ottawa Senators. Something. Remember we used to have those.
Starting point is 00:09:45 You're excited about the sense. Name that senator and we could, you couldn't do it. Could you name five senators and you couldn't do it? And the senators have won four in a row and six of their last seven. And Olmarch's been nails for eight starts now. Like just awesome. 9.55 over that stretch. So that sounds like the flames when they were really good.
Starting point is 00:10:07 That's right. And so when any team gets 955 goal tending, you're up against it because you're going to need 20 shots for one goal. Why has we not figured this out? Well, I think we know that. It's just how do you get the 95 goaltending? That's harder. It's like rolling snake ice twice and roll.
Starting point is 00:10:22 It's kind of made a big difference. Yeah. It makes a huge difference. It's made a huge difference in their fortunes. The wins have been plentiful with when it's 1.36 goals against over an eight game stretch, that sort of thing. Now for Allmark, will we see him? Because he started four straight. He's coming off a shut out.
Starting point is 00:10:46 Pardon me? Forsberg's a little gimpy. They got him listed as not healthy, but also as healthy. Like he's not on the R. They've got this Manilinen guy that's up. I thought it would be Mad Sogarde or one of these other dusters. seen over the years young guys. I think you're just riding the hot
Starting point is 00:11:03 hand here. Don't overthink it here. It's not like it was back to back. It's up to Linus. Linus is rolling. Like you keep... Hey, Linus. You want to play? Yeah, yeah, I'm going to play. You're going to play then. Yeah, yeah. Go, Linus. I thought maybe it would be up to Pierre Dorian because I thought he did the hockey. He does not make
Starting point is 00:11:22 hockey decisions. Is that over? He made hockey decisions. Yeah, and I'm particularly good ones, but I don't totally get multiple. The old owner was a lunatic too. Allmark, look in the nets two nights ago. They're not cheap shots. It's
Starting point is 00:11:37 well documented. He was a lunatic. And his daughter's did a wonderful job after his passing. And the new owner's great. They've got a new rink coming. They have an exciting team. They're going to get the hell out of Canada. Everything's coming up roses for the same. You're, he's doing a great sandwich. You're a piece of
Starting point is 00:11:54 S, but you're doing a great job now and you're a lunatic. Okay. So like, he's doing the opposite sandwich. He's doing the meat on the outside of the bread. You're a billionaire. You can do what you want with your team. But just because Eugene Melnick passed away doesn't mean he wasn't
Starting point is 00:12:09 a crazy man. We called him a crazy man when he was a lot. Listen, when people pass, they're all great. Okay. That's the standard. Are you in funeral? What a wonderful human. Ryan Pender is a sober family man who liked quiet time in reading by the
Starting point is 00:12:25 fire. We will miss him. Yes. That's what you'll say? A hundred percent. Can you imagine if Ryan were a billionaire and had a pro sports team on his own? He'd be hands off, eh? I mean, he'd have no opinions.
Starting point is 00:12:41 I'd have the same. Can you imagine. Jesus, Jesus, I know the history of this. The man banks over 20 million in the NHL, and then he goes around talking about my parents, like they played in the NHL.
Starting point is 00:12:54 Billioners, I mean, soon enough. Speaking of money, how's the visa? Wisa. How's the, How's the tap?
Starting point is 00:13:02 How's that card? I'm telling you. It's kind of a, well, let's see. I looked it up again. Wow. Okay.
Starting point is 00:13:09 Check the balance. Yeah. Yeah. I've got some coming here. My cut off for payments, perfect. So I think I got cut off like the ninth or tenth. And I'm like,
Starting point is 00:13:18 ha ha. So I'm going to get walloped in January. Yeah. I always wonder. Remember the black Monday, the most depressing day of the year. That's coming up. Not great.
Starting point is 00:13:27 Not tomorrow. It's the happiest day of the year. So anyway. Uh, this game. So yeah, so the senators, here you go, news flash, uh, been winning games. Four in a row, six of seven over the last seven games where they've, again, have won six of them. They've trailed for just 12 minutes and three seconds. Jeez.
Starting point is 00:13:48 In seven games and all of it was against the New York Islanders. The Islanders had a lead for 12.03 or whatever it was. Other than that, they've been tied or leading. They are getting offense from not talking about trading. all their young really good players? No, their young players are actually leading them in points and goals and over a point of game.
Starting point is 00:14:08 Wow. Finally, they got Kachuk stopped requesting his trade to the Rangers. Just took a little soft tampering to get these guys going, right? That's what it was. It hasn't worked for the Rangers, though, has it? No, no. They need some of a soft tamper with them.
Starting point is 00:14:22 That's Karma Dean. It's the Christmas season. And they were in the wrong spirit. The hockey gods frowned upon soft tampering. They hate it. See? They really don't like it. off tampering yeah five players with double digit goals uh they've got got three what batherson kachuk
Starting point is 00:14:40 and stutzler all over a point per game their gold tending is great they're young other than that same old sands deep down the middle so playing in canada which team was it oh is detroit right where i rattled off players ages and it kind of struck struck struck a lot of old guys yeah got a couple old guys here. Yeah. I got Claude Giroux and Travis Hamannick. They're all older. But other than that, they have young,
Starting point is 00:15:11 now here, we'll just kind of go through it. Zach Ostupchuk is 21. Now is that, fourth line center. Ostopchuk, that sounds like a name from your part of the world. It does, right? Yeah. Sounds like he should be from,
Starting point is 00:15:25 a pair of house. Well, yeah, you should, Dauphin for sure. I'm trying to think of a more fringy, fringing town in that area Ethelbert. He might be from Ethelbert, Manitoba. Austerichuk from Ethelberg? That's a lot. I'm not sure. Stutzla, Jake Sanderson,
Starting point is 00:15:41 Tyler Cleven, Ridley Gregg, 22 years old. Shane Pinto is 23. Bernard Docker, Kachuk, and Cole Reinhardt, Calgary Kid just got called up there, 24. Norris is 25. Bathurst and 26. The gray beard, Thomas Shabbat is 27.
Starting point is 00:15:57 Jeez. That's their guys. Yeah, and Reinhard, he scored against the flames. earlier this year when they play. He sort of lining up to be a healthy scratch. We'll see if he gets back in. But they're very young team. And the biggest issue they had, I think, was, you know, maybe defensively not great,
Starting point is 00:16:14 but certainly not getting any saves. They were getting undone by goaltending, no matter what swaps they made, Talbot in, Gustafs sent out, bring in this guy, that guy. Finally, they've got, like, what, two or three years ago, Omar won the Vezna?
Starting point is 00:16:27 Like, that's a guy that can win you games. And he's in a zone right now where it's like, You get two, you're probably going to win with him. His last six starts, two once, three with one and two shutouts. Like that's, well, they, yeah, they lead the league in shutouts. They've got five on the season. Jeez. Best in the national, four on the road.
Starting point is 00:16:46 They, I looked this where I was going through the notes. They've got four road shutouts. They have three in the last decade. It's, what? Like, I don't know. If we've been waiting for them to turn the corner, we're maybe watching it. Right in front of our. very eyes. It could be finally happening.
Starting point is 00:17:04 Have they ever had a good goaltender? I mean, Allmark's awesome. Craig Anderson, it was definitely good, but great would be maybe tougher. They haven't had steady goal to since him. Oh, he spiked and played well. And then... I think he was a consistent guy, but he was never great.
Starting point is 00:17:19 Well, he had been looking around a lot. Didn't he? He had a long stretch in Ottawa. I feel like he was probably six, eight years. I think he was, I think he was quite good, but they were quite bad. That's my point is, where have they where have they had a backbone of a goaltender that's...
Starting point is 00:17:33 Laleem, same thing. He was good for a stretch. But then... Yeah. Yeah. By fire. Ray Emery, you know. Is he good?
Starting point is 00:17:43 I don't know. Solid. I'm just trying to think of guys that were there for an extended period. Yeah. When I say Craig, Haschick, I think it was a good goal. How long was he there, though?
Starting point is 00:17:53 Still, he was a senator. It really is. Yeah, look at this. Okay, from 2010-11 to 1920, a decade of Chris. And he was that long. And he was 939, 914, 941, 911, 923, 916, 920. The teams weren't good, but he was rock solid for them. Not a Vesna guy by any stretch, but like, that's why he been looking for a goalie since Craig Anderson is what I would say.
Starting point is 00:18:17 Yeah. And before, and when they had Craig Anderson, they were looking for a team. So they've never combined the two. Yeah. And they had a couple runs. Like Anderson would have gone to the cup final with them in 17. They went to the cup final. Well, almost. Sorry, they lost an overtime, but what, Game 7 to Pittsburgh. I'm trying to remember. Pittsburgh. No, this guy will remember. Ottawa, Eastern Conference final.
Starting point is 00:18:37 Carlson on one leg was unbelievable. Koon had scored the game winner. Do you remember that? Yeah, Pittsburgh beat him. Way to go, Jack. We were in Tokyo. We were watching it on a phone. Somebody's streaming.
Starting point is 00:18:47 Tokyo, I was going to go to Tokyo. Cheap flights, cheaper to go to Tokyo than Toronto. Yes, very cheap right now. And again, 40 work week because they want people to mate more. So see all the more reason, Dean, we've got to get to Tokyo. Yeah. Yeah, I saw that. I just, again, I don't know that that would work.
Starting point is 00:19:04 It would just be more time around the house with each other. You're not a Tokyoan though. Not banging. That would be what it is. Oh, great. So this is just another day where we're passing each other in the hall and not, you know. That might be a different issue than the work days. That might be.
Starting point is 00:19:21 Could be soft. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. What's on? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:26 Docki. Oh. It's all. We drank it all. We drank so much Socky, me and Bondo. Who else was there? We were at the Asian Mexican restaurant in Scottsdale. The what? Yes. That's a hell of a combo. Houston's?
Starting point is 00:19:42 No. You see Biz? Yeah. We crushed Sock. Love Socky. Great drunk on sake. Yeah. Rice wine. Is that what it is? Yeah. You get it hot, you get cloudy, red, cold. whatever and all kinds of stuff. Sweet. We drank a ball that day. We were at the crazy sushi place in Vegas where they were dancing
Starting point is 00:20:05 on the tables and singing and they brought us the, what was it? The dragon. The Godzilla platter, whatever it was. Is that where you got all sour? Because Dave's had the cup or was that different trip. Oh, that was a different one. Yeah, that was a different one. I want you to be upset in Vegas. Yeah, I mean, it can happen. Sends are going to be good. Tough out for the flames tonight. Definitely. Jake Sanderson will be pumped up to be home.
Starting point is 00:20:31 Ladar back in first coming off that. Oh, he's done pouting? If that's what it was, yes. If it was a lower body injury, it's in a spot where he can play again. I'm not. Quit being hurt, Dr. Norrisicologists. Just quit being hurt.
Starting point is 00:20:45 He does come up gimpy a lot. He usually stays in, but it's like every third game. He's just like laboring to get up. You're like, are we all right here? I tell you. I live the line. Does Dusty Nickel need to grab some gear and get to the dome? Like, what are we doing here?
Starting point is 00:20:57 You know what I got for you? An early Christmas treat. Treat? It's Thursday, but yet Darren Dregor today. Really? Yeah. Crystal Waters, plumbing and heating. It's the Crystal Waters Insider

Starting point is 00:21:45 Yes. A treat on a Thursday. There he is. TSN hockey insider Darren. So about your cards last week. I assume they lost. Yeah. Ah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:56 I took a lot of things. that. Yeah, I would have taken a lot of heat. I did. So I shower and I brushed my teeth. I comb my hair. I even put a suit on for you guys. That's very nice. Final edition before Christmas. So.
Starting point is 00:22:08 That's right. Yeah. Look at Stanza hood. Huitter. Yeah. Those wearing their Christmas best, Greg. I love it. That's kind of wondering what you were wearing there. Couldn't really tell. We got the senators here in Calgary tonight to play the flames. And ordinarily,
Starting point is 00:22:23 it's, well, the senators aren't very good. So this is a must win game. while you don't want to lose this one. But on the flip side now, it's the senators, I think, Ryan, they're the hottest team in the league right now. Maybe about the best number of anyone. And I think Olmark has a lot of five goals in his last six games combined. That's a task if he's in.
Starting point is 00:22:41 Yeah, individually and collectively, the senators are rolling right now. Yeah. We're wondering, have they turned that corner that we've been waiting for them to turn forever? Has it finally happened? Well, that kind of feels like the kiss of death or doom for the Ottawa senators to officially announce that they've turned the corner, but it looks like they have, right? And I think that that's more credit to management and coaching for keeping things real tight. At times in recent history, it would get chaotic there.
Starting point is 00:23:09 And, you know, whether or not that was Pierre Dorian, the general manager at the time, I like DJ Smith. I think he's a terrific coach. But look, there was a lot going on around that organization. That was one of the first areas of Michael Landlauer, new owner and general manager, Steve Stales, wanting to clean up. Just make sure that the players have the creature comforts that you need to do your job in the National Hockey League, which now they have, and then take the chaos out of their day-to-day.
Starting point is 00:23:39 Just let them focus on playing hockey. And again, if this is Stales, it's his job as architect to fill the holes if there are holes that are glaring or that they feel that there's an area that needs to be addressed. And I think for the most part, he did that. Like, goaltending was such a huge issue in Ottawa. You know, every night you didn't know what you were getting. The wildly inconsistent. Okay, well, at the draft, stale swings for the fence and lands Linus Allmark from the Boston Bruins.
Starting point is 00:24:07 And then there's the uncertainty, okay, well, this is a leap of faith here. And I don't think there was a wink, wink, any of that, you know, in terms of having a contract extension parked in a desk somewhere. I think they felt that they had to prove to Linus Allmark that Ottawa was the best destination long term for both his hockey future and his family. And then, look, it got a little shaky there too, didn't it? Like, you know, Allmark wasn't very good early on. But the one thing that I appreciated about any player, in this case, Linus is he owned it. He came out and it was getting to a point where you're already going, okay, let's not pull the Jack Campbell card here. It's not always your fault.
Starting point is 00:24:46 You know, the puck goes in the net. Sometimes that's the goalie's fault. Sometimes it's just the calamity of events that has happened before that. But he needed to settle, and he has. And he has been terrific. Their goaltending has been good. So maybe they have turned the corner. But I think that that's also inflated the tires of those around.
Starting point is 00:25:07 And the speculation around Brady Kitchak was quickly wiped out by ownership and management and all of that. So collectively, I think that the players most important, importantly, see a buy-in from coaching, from management, from ownership that those guys that have been around there a long time, maybe I haven't seen for a while, if ever. We, I don't want to take runs, guys, but like you talked about stability around the organization. The late Eugene Melnick was known for sort of the, maybe some classic oversteering or over-involvement or just really a volatile front office where you'd have high-ranking executives get hired
Starting point is 00:25:42 and disappear soon later. Like, what does that meant from like, let's say, Brady Kachuk's perspective? Yeah, you know, look, I think one of the messages that was delivered to Brady when new ownership came in. And again, I'm going to lump all those guys together, Travis Green and Steve Stales, in this case, Mike Lanlauer. The messaging of Brady was, we see you as being the key piece of this operation moving forward. So in saying that, we're going to do everything within our power to build around. you, right? I mean, look, you know, he's still developing player, but what you see is on most nights a real competitive leader. Does he have some flaws, some wrinkles that need to be ironed out?
Starting point is 00:26:27 Sure he does. Again, relatively young. But they believe in him. And that's why, you know, ownership and management gets so frustrated when these trade rumors service, right? Like, who's planting this stuff? Because, hey, and look, I mean, you, if you're a general manager, you can call any other general manager you want. I mean, you can ask for Connor McDavid if you want. I mean, you're going to get a hard no, but, you know, if you feel like that's doing your job. So undoubtedly, the calls would come in to Steve Stales.
Starting point is 00:26:58 But I think that by design, you know, they more recently came out swinging with the soft tampering allegation and all that against the New York Rangers to try and just dissuade reporters and others from wild speculation again. That's just, that's how they value Brady Kachuk and their belief that he is going to shepherd them into the future of success.
Starting point is 00:27:22 And that goes beyond Klojuru and all the older pieces that they have. Those guys are the insurance, and they're the experience to help in the here and now, but they're not the future. It's, you know what? It's, I feel kind of happy for them. I feel happy for Kachuk,
Starting point is 00:27:37 because even at the time, when he signed that long-term deal, and why would he sign, in Ottawa. Why would you do that? But he did. I don't know if he saw this coming, but we, you know, then on, we were kind of joking about it, the soft tampering. It's turned around the Ottawa senators. It has not turned around
Starting point is 00:27:58 the New York Rangers. Right. They continue to slide sixth in the metro, five of six and have three wins in their last 14 and then pull the trigger. And I think it was last week. Maybe we were or the week before talking about Apocaco. He's gone to Seattle for Will Borgon, a third and a sixth. Yeah. Doesn't feel like great return for the second overall from 2019, but it's a move, it's another move by Chris Drury.
Starting point is 00:28:23 Your thoughts? Well, you're right. It doesn't feel like a great return. With all due respect to Borgon, who, again, we don't know what his game is going to look like in a year or two, five years from now if he's still around. Just based on the reaction that I got from other club execs around the league, when that deal went down.
Starting point is 00:28:42 I would say that Chris Rory probably left something on the table. But, you know, I say that, and I would say this, too, Capulacca's name has been out there for a long time. That's not new. We're just kind of retread an old tire here in the insider business, right? So, you know, that's kind of where we're at and where it brings us to now. And all I know is the teams that I talked to after the trade just,
Starting point is 00:29:11 I mean, we didn't know that that was going down. So that tells me that maybe Drury felt like this is the best he was going to get and there's no search shopping it or fellas, this might be more to the point. I don't have this directly from Francis. He's an hard SOB to deal with Ron Francis of the Seattle Cracket. He does not play the media game in any way, shape, or form. And it wouldn't surprise me. I don't have knowledge of this, but it wouldn't surprise me if he's made a comment
Starting point is 00:29:40 like, Chris, if I read about this on social media, the deal is off. And you're not getting anything. Or if I get a call from another general manager or somebody else or anybody in my group gets a heads up that you're shopping this deal, I'm pulling it off the table. I mean, that happens a fair bit. Sorry, I didn't need to step on you there. But no. That sounds like I get Ron Francis's take on this. What the hell is Drury thinking in my opinion?
Starting point is 00:30:07 Like, you're, like, I'm just, I'm looking at my phone. I'm like, I should call Conroy and go, would there no way you could have taken a stab? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So that seems ridiculous. I see two things happening here. One, the ceiling for Cabocaco has been dramatically reduced in the eyes of hockey people.
Starting point is 00:30:27 No one sees a star here anymore. I think it was a fourth hit around pick and. Ryan, I don't think that's true. I don't think that's true. Okay. So what, yeah, I think what you're saying, and I'm not trying to, words in your mouth here. To this point, I can appreciate why you would feel like that.
Starting point is 00:30:43 But I think, and look, I'll throw the Montreal Canadians out there. I know Kent Hughes tried to get something going with the Rangers in the summer, specific to Kako. Now it makes sense. Jeff Gordon, who's the grand poobab of hockey in Montreal, was the guy that drafted him in New York. So you've
Starting point is 00:30:59 got a little internal intelligence here. The belief around this kid is, for whatever reason, he wasn't comfortable in New York. And maybe that could be the coaching carousel. Maybe that's just, you know, I don't know, whatever the market was, but the belief is that this kid's going to pop offensively. And I, for whatever reason, this kid has been on my radar from watching him,
Starting point is 00:31:21 and I think I said this to you guys a week or two ago, I watched him at the Men's World Championship where he played in that finish lineup as an 18-year-old. And I'm on, this kid, like, he can't miss in the NHL. Now bigger ice, but the way he protected the puck, You know, used his body. He was so confident. I just, he, he's going to be a tap in top sex.
Starting point is 00:31:45 Now, maybe that speaks to my lack of hockey IQ. But I'm like, whoa. But the feeling I get from the teams that were interested in them, this kid has got a lot more offense in them than we've seen to this point. To me, it reeks of, sorry, I'm jumping in front of you again, but it reeks of the, of Sutter trading Finoff to the Leafs, where the rest of the league was like, what? You just.
Starting point is 00:32:07 How'd that happen? And Caco just went public with the quote that said, it feels like I'm the young guy. It's easy for me to scratch, but I'm not, and I'm paraphrasing. Yeah. This feels like Nikita Zedorov in Calgary last year.
Starting point is 00:32:19 Yeah. You signed a monster, what, five, six year deal with Boston. They got a third and three years and a fifth for him. Yeah. They needed to get that guy out of the room. He was poisoned in the well. And maybe this is jury's way of saying,
Starting point is 00:32:30 look, if you're going to come out and speak publicly against the owner and the GM, I'll take less get out of it. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. I'll just, And I guess it wasn't jury. Jury's been too public with all this shit. So for him to turn around and go,
Starting point is 00:32:42 you can't be public. Let's turn around. You're going to be the squeaky wheel. You're out of here. Maybe that's... Maybe. He sees himself as the guy that controls all that. You can't trade the gym.
Starting point is 00:32:53 I don't know. The way jury's being portrayed to me, sitting in, I don't... So you think it's a total coincidence that happens within, what, 48 hours of that comment? I don't think that's coincidence at all. I'm saying it's a coincidence. I'm saying it's very hypocritory.
Starting point is 00:33:06 critical and short-sighted of Drury to go, I'm going to get rid of this kid. I have no idea. Let's call Conor and ask him. We'll get it behind the scenes even to ease her own mind because like Drag's just said, he's a second overall pick that has hardly effing played and you're dumping him for a defenseman that anyone in their dog could go get. It doesn't make sense to me. All because he says something.
Starting point is 00:33:31 Maybe he's managed your house better, Drury. And guys wouldn't complain. It didn't come directly from the Rangers, but the messaging post-trade was this had nothing to do with him spouting off. But the fact that that would be included in the synopsis of the deal without a guy like me asking that very question indicates it. And look, you know, owners, it's their tickle trunk, right? The owner doesn't like what a player says.
Starting point is 00:34:03 Maybe that does factor into a point. But what I know is this. And you don't have to be an insider or a fan of the New York Rangers, you know, or covering this team at all to see what's becoming increasingly obvious. There's a lot of fingerpoint going on around that organization. You know, we would like to look at the owner because he's such an active guy internally, not publicly or externally. Yeah, I mean, Chris Dury is general manager.
Starting point is 00:34:30 He needs to be judged on what he's done to this roster and what he'll continue to do. But it feels like to me, it dates back to the Trubicrider stuff coming out. And the player's going, no, we're not having this. I mean, you can trade anybody you want. You can try and apply pressure to anybody you want, but there is a human and a personal element to this. And so if there's any finger pointing, that finger pointing, in my opinion,
Starting point is 00:34:56 is coming from within that room. But it's not finger pointing at player to player. It's finger pointing at Chris Jury. It's finger pointing at Peter Lavialut, who an experience, Coach is is challenged with trying to get this team back mentally on track and it might be too far off the rails. It just might. Sorry with Laviolet, obviously you just said great coach, great career, great record, all this.
Starting point is 00:35:21 Another coach that wears out is not as welcomes wrong work. He's got a shelf life too, right? Yep. And sometimes the squeeze when you get close to squeeze, you squeeze a little harder because you think, I'm going to squeeze. this much more juice, and we're going to beat the Florida Panthers and get to the Stanley Cup finals. Is it possible that he should be taking a little more responsibility
Starting point is 00:35:44 for what's going on? Yeah. From here, I'm like, it's dreary and they're a pain in the ass, and they've made a mess of things on the dressing room, and the guys are pissed off. But that's skipping past Labia left.
Starting point is 00:35:57 Yeah, I mean, I don't think there's anybody associated with that organization who shouldn't be accepting some responsibility. Now, a lot of people can't do anything to change the in-game product. The head coach most definitely can't, right? Most definitely can. And what I heard from Capo-Cocco was, and I'm just reading between the lines to just go back here a little bit,
Starting point is 00:36:17 was a sense of frustration over maybe a lack of communication between coach and player, right? So, yeah, it's easy to sit the young guy. But, you know, Peter Lavellette, you know, on a real short-term basis, has benched Pannaron for a shift or two. like he's he's he's tried some in-game tactics that haven't haven't resulted in anything meaningful. I just think that they're managing this strictly as like I'll tell you what, you name any player on that roster. You name any player and I guarantee you there's a trade rumor. I read something about Adam Fox yesterday.
Starting point is 00:36:56 Guys with no one. Like what are we doing? Like come on. But, you know, instantly my experience tells me that can't be. real. That can't be true. And then you look at some of the stuff that we know is gone on around the New York or Angers. I mean, I can't, I can't discredit it either. So you're going to take Caco for that. And I'm, yes, anything could happen. Because if the owner's. That's the thing. Anyway, I. So what is Caco? I think this is what I'm, he's played 330 games. This is not a puppy anymore. He's played six seasons in the NHL. He's got less than 40 points his last hundred games.
Starting point is 00:37:34 He's got a career high that's not 20 goals. He's never had more than 40 points. Like, is there, what's the probability? He's just a third line winger. And you know what? He went high because he was a great 17, 18 year old. Yeah. Well, but is that, is that?
Starting point is 00:37:50 But I'm suggesting maybe they do think that's the case. Otherwise, you're not accepting a depth defenseman in a third and a sixth. Right. I wouldn't argue with that, though, right? So again, now I'm going to go back when he was drafted. And it was at that same world. championship and I happened to be walking down the street with Gorton and I asked him but what he saw on the upside and he thought best case scenario would be top six but they felt like the way that
Starting point is 00:38:14 they were building you know and you got to be mindful of the fact that and I'm trying to think of that draft in terms of the depth of that draft have a quick look for me and just spout out some of the names because you do go year in and year out and you know normally when you're drafting top three top five top ten you're getting players that that should could be can't miss doesn't mean they're all going to be stars and there's a lot here that that would classify as misses whether it's their fault or just some bad luck jack hughes goes one he's a stud capo goes to kirby dock at three is having an awful year with the habs yeah and everyone thought chicago was crazy we do given this yeah at least i got a first but he has not bounced
Starting point is 00:38:54 back after the wrist injury no uh you got Alex turcott fifth overall from the kings he's been just got to making it now yeah olin byroves in there who still feels like more potential than actual product at this point. And then it's like cousins, they'd probably want more in Buffalo. Most cider, good, maybe not great, but it looks like a good pick at six. That was way off the board. Broberg at eight. Oilers wouldn't even pay them top four money, but having a great year.
Starting point is 00:39:18 Boldie and Caulfield down the line a little bit. But yeah. So I guess that's, I guess that's my point though. So, you know, if, if Coco can get it back or I guess not back, if he could take that extra step, it even seems strange to saying. in development because, you know, you play over 330 games. He should have a pretty good handle on him. But what if he's a 50, 60 point guy.
Starting point is 00:39:43 And, you know, you've got a decent Seattle team. And he can drift between second and third line. I don't think that's a mess by a long shot. I mean, that's just the reality of his career. It's just that I think the days of us talking about him as a star. No, I would agree with that. I don't think he's that. And we can move on because it doesn't need to be the Capo Kako hour.
Starting point is 00:40:03 but looking at is how did he never play any American League games? How did he not play? He went from, he was drafted, made the Rangers and was an NHL or despite clearly him not being at an NHL level. How does he not play anywhere else? He was like Sam Bennett, Dean, doesn't it?
Starting point is 00:40:21 I was just going to, because I wondered, is this a guy that because of waiver eligibility, they couldn't send him? He never played anywhere else. Yeah, it's a bit strange. And again, they must have saw enough of them.
Starting point is 00:40:32 And that happens. you go through training camp, you come through the preseason, things are trending well. You know, you've got a goal here, there, using the body, and then all of a sudden, I don't, see, I don't know the kid. I don't know what his mental toughness is. And that sounds ridiculous to say that. But, you know, sometimes you just got to chew through adversity and find a way,
Starting point is 00:40:52 as we know. I mean, it's not going to be perfect every single year or through stretches, segments of five or ten games. But this is the thing for me. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. I am. But a fresh start has to flip the page on this guy. Otherwise, you know, maybe end the year when things haven't worked out,
Starting point is 00:41:10 if they don't work out in Seattle, we'll be having a different conversation. I want to throw another name in out at you guys, because I'm going to be talking about it, I think. We'll see how the day unfolds on insider trading tonight. Trent Frederick of the Boston Bruins. UFA this summer, right? 26 years old.
Starting point is 00:41:28 And Boston finds himself in a bit of a pickle with this guy, right? You know, the Bruins are still trying to figure, okay, what are we? You know, what direction are we going to go? You know, they're going to need to know that by the 7th of March. You can't let a kid like that just flat out walk. 6.3, 220 pounds. He's got a little bit of bite to him. You know, I wouldn't say he's tough, but, you know, he'll drop the flippers when he has to.
Starting point is 00:41:56 He's got some physical presence. He's got some offensive upside. if I were a team looking for a forward and there's so many of them, including the Calgary Flames, I'd be putting a big ostrichs beside that kid's name, man. I like him a lot. Because I don't think Blaston wants to pay him, Boomer. I don't know what that number looks like.
Starting point is 00:42:17 I just don't think they do. So the right, this is what I love about Billy Garon. I love that Billy Garon goes into a trade offer and says, here's what I'm giving you. And it's multiple pieces. And yeah, you can tweak it a little bit. But he's not trying to rob you. He wants the player that he's offering them.
Starting point is 00:42:39 So if I were a general manager looking for a center or a winger with upside, maybe it's a sign in trade if you're lucky enough to do that, at least you get them early enough. You've got a window of opportunity before July 1 to prove that you're the right fit for them and all of the, those things. I think this kid is going to be coveted. Now, he's a St. Louis kid, right? So chances are he'll end up playing for the blues because that's how Doug Armstrong seems to get these guys. But he's a name. I think we're going to be talking a fair bit about here in the week's ad.
Starting point is 00:43:14 Yeah, I like, I like him. And we just saw Boston and I can't really tell you that he stood out to me. No, that's fair. But I do feel like there is some grit that there's some gristle to his game because he's engaged. And just looking at those numbers, 18, goals last year, 17 the year before. I now just top of my head. Has he been playing power play minutes? Is he been playing top line stuff? He's a bit all over the place.
Starting point is 00:43:36 Yeah, he kind of felt like that third line. Yeah. Guy. Before that, it's coming right. Yeah. Another kid who might need another kid might need a fresh start. I'm not saying he doesn't like it in Boston. But if the Bruins aren't Jones and to lock this guy up and they're not, you know,
Starting point is 00:43:51 they're sitting there going, okay, we're not ready to pay you yet. So we're going to weigh what the trade interest is versus. what it might cost to extend you, and they're probably not making that call anytime soon. Those guys get paid. Like, it's the 10 or Geno thing. Like, you didn't have a great year, but there's still a lot of team. That guy's a missing piece. You're 6, 3, 2, 20.
Starting point is 00:44:09 You'll fight and you can score 20. Like, I love you. Get here now. You can't go like, yeah, there's going to be Sam Bennett, guys like that at the top of the food chain. You know, Mariner's probably going to extend in Toronto. Miko Ranton is probably going to stay in Colorado. You have to have that next tier.
Starting point is 00:44:24 And absolutely a kid like Frederick. He's going to get paid. just a question of, you know, whether he's part of the long-term solution in Boston, because they're never going into a rebuild, I don't think. Or if somebody steps up with a trade of value, maybe they decide to cut bait and away you go. Rett, should we contact Conroy on that one too? I didn't know that one. Oh, he would know about it.
Starting point is 00:44:49 Yeah, I bet he would. Yeah, I bet he would. And so the Kako trade goes down yesterday. Also, Alexander Carrier is traded to Montreal. all. Carrier just signed in July, a three-year UFA deal. And before Christmas, he's traded to Montreal. Hell of a pay cut, too, with the taxes.
Starting point is 00:45:08 Gosh, going from Nashville to Montreal, it's just, couldn't be standing wise. It's kind of a saw-off. But what is, is very trots. He's making some changes. Now he gets Justin Barron back. He was a first round pick in 2020. So there's something there.
Starting point is 00:45:25 But odd. Almost admission that some of that July work was not the best from Barry Trots. Not almost. 100%. Look, he's wearing to wear it. He's wearing to take his blows. You know, we're not going to beat him up anymore and he's already beaten himself up in this process. I think he's lucky at it, as you point out, getting a little bit less expensive, right,
Starting point is 00:45:52 with Baron coming in there. They feel like they developed defensemen well in Nashville. And from Montreal's perspective, and there's more to come in Nashville, obviously, right? I mean, it feels like they're going to try and chip away and do deals like this. In Montreal, I guess it makes sense to me because you bring in Carrier, so there's some local interest that comes along with the Quebec guy coming back. They need the experience, and this reads to me like they're going to move one of their veteran defense, right? So that's Savard or Matheson.
Starting point is 00:46:24 Yeah. And so you can't completely, you know, throw Lane Hudson to the wolves here. Or, yeah, some of the Reinhockers come, Logan Mayu, Scruble is there, Arbor Jack Eye is there. So I think that Kent Hughes just wanting to backfill, get a piece that they like. I mean, a smallish defenseman, but Kerry can play the game and give themselves some flexibility in the weeks and months leading up to the trade deadline.
Starting point is 00:46:54 as the interest picks up and the time gets closer on either Savard or Mathson or both. I don't even know that Alex Kerry would have cracked the top four mistakes that Barry would have knowledge in the summer. Is this just moving deck chairs? Like what are we doing here? Like, okay, you're wiggling and moving a boat. But the real issue is you brought in three guys of big money for long term into their mid 30s. And it hasn't worked. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:15 Yeah. I mean, that's a challenge. And those guys aren't going anywhere. Do those guys want to go somewhere because it has if it's gone? So do you know what I mean? Like, they just signed them, and I don't know if the contracts are movable, but do they want to go somewhere? Because none of those guys that signed there envisioned this. No, and it doesn't sound like it.
Starting point is 00:47:36 And, you know, I can't imagine that Trots goes to those guys. Marshall, Stamco's Brady Shea, to say, it's not working out the way that any of us envisioned. If you want me to investigate other opportunity, I can do that. We don't get the sense that that's happened yet. And it feels like that's the only way it would happen. You know, I just mentioned Montreal. If all of a sudden, Jonathan Marshall goes, yeah, you know, I like Nashville. The taxes are great and all that stuff.
Starting point is 00:48:04 And my family's happy here. But, you know, if there's a chance for me to go back to Montreal, then, yeah, I mean, I'm just spitball in here, but I think that that's the only way that would happen. Kids coming home, everybody home for Christmas, for starters. And for you, you strike me as maybe you're a beef guy. Maybe it's a roast instead of turks. on Christmas Day, but just walk me through it. Beef, drinks.
Starting point is 00:48:28 Yeah, no, no, no, no, no. We got the proteins covered here. The only thing I don't do around Christmas is fish. No fish. Yeah. I'll have the traditional turkey, which my lovely wife, Holly, she can manage that. That's the traditional in the oven. You do all the nonsense.
Starting point is 00:48:45 And then I got the smoker and the barbecue going, so we'll have risk it over here. And then we just might do a try tip, something along those lines as well. as well. So, yeah, I'm in a full meat sweats in the Dregor house. Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and a little splash of this. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. That's right. That's right. I would expect no less. Dregs, you're the best, buddy. Thanks for coming in here a day early. Have a great holiday and a Christmas and to you and yours. Yeah, same to you guys. Happy holidays. Awesome. Go easy on the missile, so. All right.
Starting point is 00:49:20 Yeah, there you go. Thanks, Dregs. There he is. TSNHockey inside. our hockey insider, Darren Dregger, on the Crystal Waters, plumbing and heating insider hotline. Again, if you're a Barnburn or Barney or whatever you are, hot water heater, AC, furnace, discounts and upgrades up to $1,000 in value. They're here for you. Something goes sideways. First thing that pops in your head is Crystal Waters,
Starting point is 00:49:46 your crystal clear choice. 403-219, 4100, crystal clear Calgary.com is the website. So that deal gets made yesterday. not the first thing you think, do you know, where it's like, man, for that price, should the flames have been out? Yeah. That's exactly what Conroy talks about being is adding guys in their age group, right? And it's like, he's going to be a challenging guy for contenders because you're going to have to
Starting point is 00:50:12 re-up him at two and a half and he's not earned it to this point. We got lots of gaps space. We can pay. And so, yeah. And then then you start looking at him and you're like, geez, he really hasn't evolved at all. Like he's a big strong winger that can't create scoring chances on his own. And that's kind of why I think Dori should or could have got a little bit more. But like he just moved out Truba.
Starting point is 00:50:34 He wants a steady third pair defenseman. Borgon's been that. He gets a couple picks. They're not high. It's almost just cutting bait because he's like he's a third line winger. I can always find a third line winger. It's not, you know, the challenge is that he's got the number two pick hanging around his neck like Sam Bennett did here. I would, well, and how's Bennett done?
Starting point is 00:50:53 Great, but I think the change of scenery was a huge part of it, and maybe that is what it takes for cacko. It doesn't mean that I think I would be okay with your analysis of that. If Drury had handled, doesn't look like such a, I don't know, I'm talking rudely at Christmas. I'm trying to tone it down. The way Drury has gone about his business lately doesn't look like an organized. I agree.
Starting point is 00:51:18 So if he was just, if this was a one-off and we weren't watching kind of the New York Rangers in complete shambles, I'd buy that. But it seems to me that it was a panic move. And even if it was a message that we're not going to listen to guys complain about being here. Well, you've created the issues in the room. So hard to be the tough guy now. Yeah, I don't think we're watching a Christiani Masterclass here.
Starting point is 00:51:44 And it does start to feel like there's a rift between the players and less the coach and more the GM. That's a weird spot for the players to revolt against the GM. But he's the one that put their names in public. Chris Kreider and Jacob Truba, I imagine were immensely respected men in that room. And now you're hearing like Sabindajad's name floating around. The extension was Shasturkin probably had some strain in there. It took a while to get done.
Starting point is 00:52:07 I don't know. It's an odd, odd thing for a team that was so close to get into the cup final to do. Yeah. The Finoff cop, I mean, it's not the same player, but teams struggling high draft pick feels like and the only thing is you knew a catco trade was probably coming whereas Funf, it was kind of out of left fields, but certainly feels like there's there's more there to give. So and we don't need to keep going down this road. But if so if you want, you're a flames fan. You're like, well, where were the flames?
Starting point is 00:52:36 So what would the, what would be the package? Because Will Borgon is, I mean, again, 28 years old. I think he's between, uh, ball and Bahaul. He's better than Paul Paul in terms of minutes and salaries. Probably doesn't not as young. He's 28. He's not the upside of the ball where you could be getting better. Somewhere between those two and a third and a sixth. Could have done it.
Starting point is 00:52:59 Yeah. I mean, but do, are they struggling to find wingers or is it already kind of like, God damn it, we need centers. There's too many wings around here. I think you. It's easy. I don't mean, again, it's Christmas. I don't want to be a dink.
Starting point is 00:53:12 But it doesn't matter. It's talent. You'll say we got too many. Wingers. What the hell's Peltier? If Kako's better, you go get it. It's dead. If he's better. And I feel like Peltier, at least you feel like there's lots of ceiling that hasn't been scratched. Peltier hasn't played 330 NHL games. Like he probably is what at 40, 50? It's, I don't give a shit. I mean, I get what you're saying that it's, I'm more curious about what Peltier. It's been a, it's
Starting point is 00:53:36 been a very Sam Benity 330 games. You thought Sam Bennett, we all did. Sure. We were very fine with that trade at that time. He's not going to turn out. He needs a change of scenery. Well, the 330 means nothing if it's been muddled shitty ice times with players that aren't good at scoring either, right? Like Sam Bennett was we all, he was, was he a center? He got to play with the Frennera bunch to Alaska.
Starting point is 00:54:05 I don't feel like it's the same usage issue that Sam had here. I don't. And the other thing with Sam, as we all said, when he leaves, it's going to get better. Like we don't see the star that he's become, but like you knew that weight of the highest pick in franchise history was a real thing and that we wouldn't be surprised
Starting point is 00:54:23 if it was going to work better, but not unlike Manjapani last year. We all sat in this room and said, you know what? He just needs a change of scenery. Let him lose. He'll be better somewhere else. Like he's just struggling here.
Starting point is 00:54:33 Dubey, we said the same thing. He's out of the league at this point, but there are spots in guys' careers where you can identify. The change of senior can be really helpful. Maybe that's it for Kako. But if he's just a third line winger that bangs and crashes
Starting point is 00:54:44 it scores 15 and there's tons of those in the league it's just the number two pick we're I said it with Curtis Lazar I'm like go get him he's a first round pick it's better to take a stab at it turned out terrible I feel this guy yeah and I but I and that's how I feel I feel the same way about it where it's like I would rather have this guy in my room trying to develop him yeah and get something out of them then will Borgon the Lazar thing's even worse because he'd hardly scored goals at all this guy's had 18 already point being and the second rounder instead of the third and the six, Christ. It's a bad deal.
Starting point is 00:55:17 Yeah, they can't get to Christmas fast enough. I was just taking, like Peter Lavulet is, can we got a time machine and just get me to Christmas? They're on a road trip right now. They lost in St. Louis. They got shut out in Nashville. Tonight they're in Dallas. Good luck.
Starting point is 00:55:31 Then they come home to play Carolina on Sunday. And then the Devils on Monday. We showed the schedule yesterday. It's a 15 game gauntlet where Chicago's in there. And everyone else was like, division leader, cup contender, or a playoff team from last year. Like, yeah. There was a video.
Starting point is 00:55:49 I was going to grab it too, but it doesn't matter. It was the video of somebody on their phone of Madison Square Garden. They had the watch party for the draft in whatever year it was, 2019, when Kako goes second overall. And they erupt when the devils take Jack Hughes at one, knowing that Kako was there as at two. He was such a manchild, right? Like he dominated against men. And that's so alluring. but like clearly the kid that's 510, 170 had a lot of room to grow or
Starting point is 00:56:17 Caco isn't much bigger I don't think. Or it was developed, whatever. It's probably a bit everything. It's never just one thing. But didn't spend a year over, back in, in Europe,
Starting point is 00:56:28 didn't spend any time in the American hockey league. And child. Like that's. And the team was terrible then. So they were trying to bring these kids along. So it didn't matter. They had written the letter. We're going to take a step back to be better later.
Starting point is 00:56:39 Here's our nice, young toy that we got. But you're right. One way out of this. I think they're cooked unless Shasturkin decides to absolutely just take it upon it itself and win their hockey games. That's the only way I see the Rangers pulling out of the way. They just need guys to be who they've been.
Starting point is 00:56:55 But the guys don't want you can see Ryan. It's sour. It's a cultural thing. Yes. It feels tainted. It's really. Vialette's going to get shit canned because the guys aren't going to respond and turn it around themselves.
Starting point is 00:57:06 It's not on him. It's on the GM and owner. Exactly. And even if they fire them and that's my point is it, They will fire Lavialette, I got my crystal ball out. They'll fire them, and I'm not convinced it makes any difference at all because the guys aren't mad at Lavie-a-let. You know what?
Starting point is 00:57:21 He might be a piece of it. This is the perfect Darrell landing spot, isn't it? Christ. Like, play some defense. You got to star goalie. Us against the world. Screw the GM. Screw the owner.
Starting point is 00:57:31 Screw me. You guys all get together. Fight as a unit against all of us. And it'll be short shelf life. We can be good again. But, I mean, they really got to get going here. They got a tough schedule and they're out of it. They're done.
Starting point is 00:57:42 like I said, Lesha Sterkins, 950, like, Omar, they're not. That roster is one of the best five in the league. I agree. They're all, it's toxic right now. Guys don't want to go to work. Like, Daryl's last year here, guys didn't want to come to work.
Starting point is 00:57:54 It's the same thing as Nashville. Nashville's lineup is not as good as the Rangers, but there's no way it's the last place in the NHL. Yeah, it's probably like 12 to 18 and it's last. That's something in there, too. It's too bad. Solving the problems for them. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:58:12 It's too bad. President's trophy. last year. Now they're. How many points out though? Like six? Like we're talking about it. It stays tight till the end until
Starting point is 00:58:24 you know what I mean? Oh yeah, it's close. Well, yes, it's close. But what signs are you seeing out of them? And why can't another team be better? And this is why Dean said, Philly out like this is why Dean saying they got to get to Christmas. These guys need to get away from hockey and go get hammered.
Starting point is 00:58:39 But not everyone has the flames Christmas schedule. No, I guess just it's just a break. Give me two or three days where I, don't practice. I'm two or three days. They can give it to them now if they're smart. They might be the best move for them. Yeah, we'll play the games.
Starting point is 00:58:53 Don't go. I understand your point. I think it's just, it's irrelevant. I get that they would want to get to Christmas. I get that they want to get away with it. I get that they want to think about other things. But guess what?
Starting point is 00:59:07 When that Christmas break is over, that shit pile is what you're stepping back into immediately. Oh, I got an iPad for Christmas. I feel good. No, it's a shit pile. We've all kind of been there, right? I would think that everybody, even at your work, you leave for a holiday, you come back. You know what? I'm re-energized. It's going to be different.
Starting point is 00:59:25 You know, I'm going to have a better attitude. I'm going to, you know what? It's going to be different. And then you're there like two days. It's like, this is the same shit. Fucking place. How did I think anything was going to change? Yes.
Starting point is 00:59:35 What's changed? I had 48 hours away from the ring. That's what changed. Darn it. We have a little, now, our, our, our friends. at the Maud Medical Clinic. We were talking about this the other day, the pelvic floor and all that sort of deal.
Starting point is 00:59:51 Japan. Really. Be aroused by Maud Medical Clinic. Optimize your sexual function. The doctors are providing leading edge technologies to enhance penile function. That should be all of our quest in 2025. That's the New Year's Resolution.

Treatments combined with pelvic, physiotherapy will improve your bladder health, prostate, sexual function, and the procedures at Mod Medical also provide aesthetic benefits. Check, check, check, check. Yeah, I'm waiting for the, where's the...
Starting point is 01:00:31 I know, there's no, there is none, right? There's none. Check out be aroused.ca for more information. There's a thing called, now it's spelled B-O-C-O-X, Bococks It's in the name You can figure it out All right
Starting point is 01:00:51 All right Beerhouse.ca I got a lot going on But I probably got time for that Men don't talk openly About sexual health But we really should And I mean we have some fun with this
Starting point is 01:01:04 But it's just about talking about it I've said it many times Oh my liver this or my prostate that Or what We'll sit around drink beers joke about it Whatever we have no problem talking about that Hepstine Better yet, don't talk about it.
Starting point is 01:01:16 That's my thing. Don't go to aroused. Don't talk about it. Just go and get it checked out. And right now, there's a chance for you. Whoever put this together, it's a great, it's very observant and astute. How are you going to be able to pull, let's take a look at that contest page there, Jack. Are you getting this everywhere?
Starting point is 01:01:38 How are you doing hockey tickets and 36,000 kegles? Never seen that combination. How are you getting that? Let's see, I'm salad chair. That thing hums, baby. How many of minutes? What are we talking about? Billions.
Starting point is 01:01:54 What does it sound like? Billions and billions. Not that. No. The chair? I know. It makes noise. I know.
Starting point is 01:02:03 I don't know that it makes that noise. But you can imagine it for that many. I would guess, yeah. Very active chair. So this is what they have up for grabs right now. It's a pair of tickets to go see Los Angeles and Calgary, plus a pair of. of Mcella treatments.
Starting point is 01:02:20 Well, I guess Encella treatments for two. It's two treatments here. We're going to make that draw coming up early Jan. So still an opportunity for you to do it. How do you do it? Well, you got to be followed. You go to the Instagram at B.DorRoused. B dot aroused.
Starting point is 01:02:37 Like and share the post. Tag a friend. You get one entry per person. You get an extra five entries if you share your post in the stories, extra 20. If you share the post in the stories and tags of people, it's it's a great prize and the emcella you can go and find out if the chair makes that noise if you're the winner it's almost more clicks and pops but yeah sure yeah 36000 it's a lot
Starting point is 01:02:59 it's a big number dean it's a lot it's like it's like when you're doing this right that's one of but like so let's all do it together shall we right now let's all let's all do let's get five to 10 in just right now i feel like 36 000 is going to take a while I'm doing this in my own, dude. Do that chair. Okay, I just got the 10. I don't know if I have time for 36,000. That's a lot of giggles.
Starting point is 01:03:32 We're a lot of time. We're going to agree with a lot of this, you know. And I guess when you're driving, you're in traffic, you could, all right, I'll kill some time with some cagles again. Still not getting 36,000. I know, I don't know how, I mean, man. Life. This seems like the better way to go.
Starting point is 01:03:48 And just for entering a contest. And beyond that, By all means, go to be aroused.ca to find out more. Last time, what does it sound like? I don't think it would sound like that. I don't know if it sounds like that. Just trying to imagine something with 36,000 RPM's around. It's a high red.
Starting point is 01:04:09 Yeah, it's something. Yeah, it is something. Let's get ourselves to the Pinder Report. Lots going on. It's a Calgary Flames game day. Get your helmet's on. Village Honda. It's the Pinder Report.
Starting point is 01:04:21 From now until the end of the month, it's the end of year pre-owned clear out. Over 70 units in stock starting from only $11,988, up to $2,000 trade bonus. All makes, all models, all budgets. They're just for all people. They're your dealership for life. Ryan Pindee, Ryan Pindoo. And they present the Pinder Report.
Starting point is 01:04:41 Game Day, fellas, as the senators are in Calgary for a 7 p.m. start. There's Cotter's Ari. You keep her going, young man. Look at the flow. Yeah, he's looking good. Setterman. I think he's a centerman. That looks like RJ a little bit,
Starting point is 01:04:57 didn't he? There is some RJ in there. Sinald down. Do you like cats? Loves Disney. All right. We'll move before he gets too heavy of a beating here. Here's a West standings.
Starting point is 01:05:12 It's a dangerous spot to go down. Flames in a blast spot, boys. Look at that. Up on Colorado. Suck of Colorado. You suck, you bums. Canucks got a loser point in Utah last night in a wildly entertaining game.
Starting point is 01:05:26 And, well, that's, what's up for the sketch? I couldn't turn it off. You fell asleep. That's the way, yeah. Or couldn't turn it off. Here's the schedule before Christmas. Two to go since tonight. Matinee Blackhawks, Rhett alluded to it,
Starting point is 01:05:41 a beautiful Christmas break, almost a week. Saturday to Saturday between games over Christmas. Oh, wow. Time's tough in the NHO. Times are tough. Rett's jealous of the current players. We're all jealous of Red,
Starting point is 01:05:57 because he was a player. We get paid in thousands of dollars. They get paid in millions. The key to it all is that we're jealous and that's a good way to be. Is it? Yes. Oh, for sure. Yeah, it's part of a balanced breakfast.
Starting point is 01:06:12 Yeah. Heavy dose of jealousy. Because I feel like you hear a lot about social media. Like, get off. That's so you can't trust social media. You know what? Okay. The advice in social media.
Starting point is 01:06:23 So jealousy and key. You're going to listen to something. Is it going to be us? Yeah. Or social media. Show them what you're wearing and you tell us who we're going to trust. You want to go to these people in social media or a guy wearing a George Costanza? Like a bit of this idiotous goodness.
Starting point is 01:06:40 Must be. I'm right. Make sure you've got a grounding back. Vandalay Industries. Vandalay Industries. The East sends their in, boys. Look, maybe it's just a 955 run and when they get mediocre goaltending or league average, they fall back to Earth.
Starting point is 01:06:58 but they are in a playoff spot. They are three games over 500. Jack's Penguino trying to chase them down. They've got two games in hand. And you start looking around the division, they're three back of Boston with two games in hand. Can they get up in the Atlantic? I don't understand it's 29 games.
Starting point is 01:07:17 Rett's really bothered that there's like a five game gap between New Jersey and Tampa. He's muttering. It's bothered him. He's not going to be able to sleep. Give us the point percentage, so it makes sense to me. It is a lot, though.
Starting point is 01:07:28 If you're playing three to four games, games a week. If Tampa won five of those, then where would they be? Tampa had the one game canceled because the hurricane. We know that. But if they won them, 30. Man, they'd be really good. Five games.
Starting point is 01:07:39 They will all play 82. It's a promise. I'll give you one eighth of the season. Let's move. Sends lines. What do they look like? They look like this. They're good.
Starting point is 01:07:49 They're young. They got talent. Lots of centers. Too many centers. Brady Kachat. Get a center. Top line left side. They go Norris Stutz Lapintoe
Starting point is 01:07:58 down the middle, which is a pretty nice one, two, three punch. I like them having Cachuk and Stutzlaw on different lines given that they can both dominate and drive a line. And then it's, yeah, Bathurst's having a great year. They brought in some veterans that have been in some playoff runs. Amadio, cousins just won the cup of Florida.
Starting point is 01:08:16 And then they like this young Ridley Greg who's up on the right side of the fourth line. Good buddies. Sanderson, he doesn't usually pay with Travis Hammack. That's only because Artem Zube is out. you normally would slide everyone down. Bernard Docker, the former Okottox Euler, right side of the third pair. And Noodles has been talking about Tyler Clevin for two years on this show. He's finally in the show.
Starting point is 01:08:41 Good for him. Mary Lahn, the backup, unless Forsberg's ready. You see, he's hurt but not on IR. Peron and Ryanhart, same story. Zubes out long term. That's the sense. Yep. Back to me, Dean.
Starting point is 01:09:00 Lena Solmark, been good. How good? Well, here's a little summary of what's going on. After a rough start, this is Domless Gish and 16 stats. It looks at the numbers behind the league every few weeks. Olmark has returned to form for Ottawa. He looks exactly like the player fans thought they were getting from Boston, a Vesna caliber starter. Over the last few weeks, he's posted eight straight starts in which he's saved more goals than expected. During that stretch, a 955 save percentage, 13 and a half goals saved above expected. So they're terrible. they're probably fine defensively,
Starting point is 01:09:33 but they're elite when he's doing this. Leading chances. Unsurprisingly, senators, 7-1-1 in those eight starts during the stretch and are seeing their playoff chances jump from 20 to 55% over that eight game run. Why not? Picking up 15 of a possible 16 points.
Starting point is 01:09:49 That'll help. Allmark, the catalyst for this turnaround. During the Christmas break, I think you and I should do a show and you can explain to me all of these fancy terminology things and how the advanced stats work because I want to get involved. That would be the boringest show ever. I want to get involved.
Starting point is 01:10:06 Let us move to some other news. We talked about the Capulacaco trade. More on it. Here it is. Where are you looking at the dog there? No, I'm just doing something. Oh. Yes, it's very self-serving.
Starting point is 01:10:19 Jack, if you could keep that, just keep the one shot. You can continue. No, no, no, no. The, whatever that. The Elmark Dom thing will come back to it. Great. Can't wait for that. Capo caco gone to Seattle.
Starting point is 01:10:36 Coast to coast. Him and Shane, right? I was just thinking about it. If Drury was really the biggest prick ever, how long's a flight from New York back to, like, Finland? Similar. Six. And how long is a flight from Seattle to Finland?
Starting point is 01:10:50 Ten? Don't you go above the top? Yeah, but there's nothing direct than guessing. You think there's a Seattle, Helsinki? I'm going to check. See if there's a direct flight, Seattle to Helsinki. You would be going over the top. That's a good point.
Starting point is 01:11:00 A third and sixth, they'll also go into New York with Bill Borgon. A former punchline on the show. He was an expansion draft pick from the Buffalo Sabres, I believe. Oh, we just like to say, it's all Bill Borgon. Double B. Billi Borgon. Billi, boy. So now, O'Mark, he's playing for Ottawa.
Starting point is 01:11:19 So there's like goals and that above expected. Old save above expected. Yeah. Unbelievable, right? Very good eight game stretch. Do we still have that? Because I know you played, you just had that story. and I'm kind of looking for Jack now to
Starting point is 01:11:31 To back up. This is not going to be worth it at all by the time it's done. I'm just kind of what's, No, the second paragraph at the bottom there, Ryan, what is that? What is that? Unsurprisingly,
Starting point is 01:11:42 the senators are 7.1 and O'Mark starts during this stretch and are back in the thick of the East playoff race. Their playoff chances have climbed from 20 to 55% during that stretch. 55. You know what? This sucks. Was that, it was,
Starting point is 01:12:00 that we can't play our, some good tunes you can play that that's short enough i'm not going to flag for that's great i know but it's where dean's heads at the fantasy footballers love this yeah so it's it's an homage hammer it's really good they have a good question of drops it's not boomer good but it's yeah yeah yeah i don't see a lot of directs right that's what i mean jrary's just screwed on me you You know what? The stop is a nice stop, though.
Starting point is 01:12:33 Amsterdam. Yeah, decent airport. The Dutch. Holland? What's C.D. G's the Netherlands? CBG. The C.D.
Starting point is 01:12:44 Copenhagen. No. C.D. C.G. B. C.D.G. Dean. Charles. De Gaul. That's the name of the big airport. Charles.
Starting point is 01:12:56 That's the name of the big airport. Oh, Chuck. Oh, Chuck. Chuck to go. Is he a good guy? He'll kill people. Charles? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:13:07 Do what he had to do, Rhett? Hey, Charlie. Actually, it's Charles. I don't like you already, Charles. Alex Carrier, now a member of the Montreal Canaanis. This is... Alexander.
Starting point is 01:13:22 Yeah, I guess. Now that he's at home, he's definitely had more of that than... Just call me Alex in Nashville. Justin Barron going the other way. who is not really likely to ever be as good as Alex Carrey. Can we go through with a lot of these first round flops one day? Yeah. There's a lot more happening.
Starting point is 01:13:40 Someone have the stats on your likelihood of being like a good NHL or even just an NHL or if you're being in the first round. It's still horrible numbers. So it doesn't matter if you get drafted to junior. It doesn't matter if you get drafted to the NHL. It's certainly not as great as you think. But it doesn't guarantee you F, right? It's like you said, Alex.
Starting point is 01:14:02 Turcott like top five overall yeah very excited to get Alex turcott yeah and then boldie went 10 well down that list and he is he's a horse and Cole Coffield seems to know how to put the puck in the net goal coffield very good yes there's some there's some great picks later there that you'd love to slot at 2 3 4 5 if you're some other teams all of a sudden you want coffee jack make my coffee come on jack you should spin it for sorry uh here's the thing on the
Starting point is 01:14:33 carry a deal like uh puck daddy Greg Wosinski had this thought which was how do I wrap my head around them not trading carrier at the deadline extending him in free agency and then immediately trading them like Barry's doing so much stuff here in different directions it's tough to like they didn't trade them because they were trying to make the playoffs and then they extend them because they like him and he's been himself but the big stars haven't played well so you're out of here it's it's a lot I'm not saying
Starting point is 01:15:01 it's bad move it's just a lot of arrows and different directions. They get younger. They save some dull. Yeah. And to flip it, I don't know what Barron is going to be. What's Carrier? He's a solid second pair guy that's not special offensively.
Starting point is 01:15:18 Yeah. Should have got Caco. Where's Conroy on that one? Yeah. Why isn't, why isn't, so we could have Caco and, uh, you could have had there. It's like carry a ball combo going. Let's go.
Starting point is 01:15:32 Or Bill Borgon, because, Apparently he's expendable. My Conroy. My connie finances. Tough ship for Marchment in Dallas last night. He already started his Christmas break team. Is that what if, well, six days isn't long enough for Conroy? 12 days of Christmas for that guy.
Starting point is 01:15:49 Yeah, it is. Sorry, Ryan. Back to you. Back to me. Thanks, Red. Tough shift for Dallas. This was a Mason Marchment. That's correct.
Starting point is 01:15:57 Bang. Oh, Connor Timmons, right to the kidneys. Oh. And sometimes that hits padding. you're fine. Other times it's like, oh, that got me good. And then, oh, your stick broke. Oh, well. Oh, dear, amazing.
Starting point is 01:16:10 I've, form relief. That prick cook cross-checked me like that once in the back. It was not good. And at the start of that, it almost looked like the, he took a puck in the jibs. It did land on his head, didn't it? It's a tough sequence. You're going to take one of those right there. And, oh, ow.
Starting point is 01:16:27 Oh, oh, the puck on two. Good spot. I got a puck in the jibs and then, damn stick. actually this is funny the shots were like 164 at one point Toronto scored twice in like 20 seconds won this thing last night pretty good game didn't reeves cheap shot someone too I saw it sounds accurate I did not see that tonight let's look at the games what do we got big slight dino oh nine games dino nine
Starting point is 01:16:53 oh nine thank you what do we like in the best game what's the best game what's the best I think Vancouver Vegas is interesting. Vancouver's fascinating. We didn't get to dregs on them, but there's now this conversation. Maybe this is just how crazy Vancouver is like,
Starting point is 01:17:10 while J.T. Miller's back and Elias Patterson, can they coexist? Like, what do you mean? Can they coexist? You get two stars playing center ice. You want both those guys. And then it's like, Frank was saying there's going to be likely a deal done
Starting point is 01:17:22 by the Canucks before this roster freeze. Like, what the hell's going on in Vancouver? Really? Yeah. They've gone, uh, do, do, do in their last six. they got Demko back. He was great last night. He's been good.
Starting point is 01:17:35 But yeah, it feels like there's a lot of drama. Talk it's called out his leadership group. Hey, Mark. Hey, Mark. Also don't mind the Boston Oilers game. The old 1990 Stanley Cup rematch. I wonder which game Jack would pick. Oh, you know exactly.
Starting point is 01:17:50 Last place team against the penguins. He's going to get all hopped up thinking how good the penguins are. This is a three TV kind of night. Well, and the Thursday night, there's a gem too, fellas. We get to that. Popcorn, penguins. Holy shit. Life is good.
Starting point is 01:18:02 Very good. Speaking of Thursday nights, look at it. It's going to be fun. Two AFC West teams that aren't good enough to get the chiefs out of first. Broncos have been quite good down the stretch here, fellas. The chargers are fading. Those jerseys,
Starting point is 01:18:18 all this liking on Herbert's head that's caused the problems. Go back to those jerseys. They're so sexy. Dean said it and I walked all over. It's a better setup in football than that. The powder blues. I dig him. Khalil Mac.
Starting point is 01:18:36 Love to see it. Derwin James. Let's go fellas. Return of the Mac. Now, I guess while we're, yeah, we'll roll through the rest of the art.
Starting point is 01:18:43 LA, that new stadium. Oh, that's Bo Knicks. Hey, last week he was Bo Picks. Eh? Eh?
Starting point is 01:18:49 Terrible. Look at that. That one's not. Is that pick six? Why was he on a? Did the stampeters lose pick six to the NFL? Yeah, what's he down here?
Starting point is 01:19:00 How was the whole? Where's the horse down in the bottom left they're running from? Yeah. It's just it's a crazy Mustang. I don't know. Well, yeah, it's like Denver,
Starting point is 01:19:10 Bronco. It doesn't look like LA either. Yeah, but there's no coast in Denver. Where's the coast? Obviously a river. Come on, Red.
Starting point is 01:19:19 Oh, the games in California. Right. They're on the lake. Yeah. You know, they call them the Lakers because there's so many lakes in L.A. You didn't know that?
Starting point is 01:19:28 Probably not. Huh. somebody didn't want to critique it, right? It's like, well, Gillian put a lot of work into it. Almost CFL-E. What was the line in Dumma-Dummer, Rocky Mountains? I don't have it on this board.
Starting point is 01:19:45 John Dender's full shit. That's all you need to. Okay. Now, John Bender, geez. Let's jump ahead. One, the Chargers social media team is the best. And I'm not saying that because I'm a Chargers fan. They do that anime movie for the schedule release every year.
Starting point is 01:20:00 They're hilarious. Last year, do you remember they have kicker? Dicker the kicker head is like crazy lawyer, like 1,900. Like very funny. Different angle this year, but Cameron Dicker's still very good and still wants you pro bowl vote, Dean. Have you ever wanted to make the poll with the fans that didn't vote for you? And as a result, you lost your lawyer job and now you're selling you as cars at super slash prices.
Starting point is 01:20:25 Me either. My name's Cameron Dicker and I'm still kicking for you. We've got kicks that can handle. your toughest drive. Knoxman through how elite is this guy? Check under this hood. This leg's got horsepower. Don't let these other dealers go like you.
Starting point is 01:20:43 Kick is off the upright again. It's the upright. Who's got better kicks than me? Oh my day. Pull those deals down. Don't front of these bills. They'll be gone in a second. Don't believe me.
Starting point is 01:21:00 Ask this satisfied customer. This is my quantum Thor motor coach from Cam, Dicker. It's done me right. So go to chargers.com slash vote and send me in my leg to kick for you. And I will not stop making these until you feel. Yeeho. He's not his lawyer. His car salesman versatile.
Starting point is 01:21:24 He's buying into it. Yeah, leaning right into it. He's good. It's good. Nice. And sometimes it's like these kickers. They get a nickname. Everyone thinks they're good.
Starting point is 01:21:34 They're doing backflips and they miss kicks and they get cut the next day. He's managed to continue being good despite doing this stuff. Very well done, Cameron. What more is the guy got to do to get a vote? Seriously. Yeah, who are you voting for? Who else is going to these lengths? Not Justin Tucker anymore, boys.
Starting point is 01:21:49 Let's go. Let's get ticker the kicker of the Pro Bowl. Yeah. I hear your lines on bet three, six, five for tonight's contest. Line was three yesterday. It's moving towards the Broncos a little here, fellas. Over under 21, 40, sorry, 41.5. That's not a huge number.
Starting point is 01:22:09 They did meet in week six. It was a 2316 win for the Chargers, so 39 points there. Denver is feeling good. They've got some Mo. Chargers have been a little bit of late. They haven't been able to run the ball like they did the first half of the year. and the defense hasn't held up. Baker absolutely cooked them last week.
Starting point is 01:22:32 40 plus points against. I thought the defense had been pretty good prior to that. Yes, these two teams are tied for the lowest scores against them in terms of points against average. Denver and San Diego. It feels like it might be an under. That's where the number is so low. So there's the hook. 39 last time they played.
Starting point is 01:22:51 That might be my goal on this game. If I was going to if I was going to bet 365 this baby. Mm-hmm. It might be chargers and it might be the under. I've got my picks coming up later. Oh, really good. But it's tough to win both of a divisional series and one team's got a little more Mo than the other at this point. It's twice you've said Mo.
Starting point is 01:23:15 Momentum. You don't like that. Wow. It's just. It's cheesy. How old are we? Let's keep moving. Big week this week.
Starting point is 01:23:22 I just, I really want to let everyone know early present from the NFL. We will have football for the next five days. Just a few. And that's just the NFL. I mean, you've got lots of college, too. It's incredible college stuff on.
Starting point is 01:23:35 The nice thing about having all that football on is that there's nothing to get accomplished right now. You can park your ass and just turn the tube ball. Get your shop again, folks. Let's get it up. Nothing else to do. Nobody's coming to town. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:23:48 It's quiet time. It's shitty outside. Just sit on your coat. And you know what? Saturday. So, Jack, tell me about your Saturday. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 01:23:57 Oh, man. I'm going to be so. hung over and then I'm just going to get right back after it on Saturday because this is awesome. Texas Chiefs. What time is that at? 11? Steven's 11 a.m.
Starting point is 01:24:12 I'm getting right back in the bag after that. And then 2.30 for your Steelers and Ravens. Oh, it's a great doublehead or two. And I believe the flames play at two as well on Saturday. It's another triple TV thing. And the college and the college games. And then I think
Starting point is 01:24:28 Sunday is just going to have to be a complete write off. Yeah. Get an IV bag and hang out with red. Get the IV bag. Get some extracurricular paraphernalia. Yeah. Chill out. Well, T's and P's, Jack. Yeah. Yeah, I'm so excited for your-
Starting point is 01:24:43 If you need anything, Jack. Pending three-day hangover. Good luck, too. Yeah. And good luck. I've never been more happy for Jack. Me neither. Uh, so the jets are dysfunctional.
Starting point is 01:24:53 We know that, right? The J-E-T-E. That's right. Layers of dysfunction, though, run very deep. Oh, yeah, no, the Winnipeg jets are, wonderful. They know how to spell their name, all that exciting stuff. Apparently, apparently, the Jets were very close to adding
Starting point is 01:25:07 wide receiver Jerry Judy. Of course, was in Denver, had a nice little breakout under James Winston and Cleveland, an actual quarterback that could throw the ball. But the Jets owner Woody Johnson didn't think his Madden rating was high enough and shot down the train. Some people are really fucking stupid. How do you get so rich if you're that, though? I think you're good at something else.
Starting point is 01:25:30 I don't think he got rich by playing football or coaching football or GM in football. I think he was probably good at like selling widgets. Yeah, well, like, or is it old money? Is he there's that Woody Johnson the second? Is it Woodrow's the third? What do we got to see on our hockey team? How about that? Woody Woody Woody.
Starting point is 01:25:49 Wow. Cause you got to be a billionaire, right? We're talking bees here for this guy. NFL team every young. Right? Everyone's a, it's a bee. Oh, heavy bee. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:26:00 yeah to be stupid and have a B. No, but us, we're brilliant. That's right. I have a T actually. I'm a thousandaire. Yeah, I'm also stupid. Although it's December,
Starting point is 01:26:12 Christmas. Are you still a thousand there? Uh, maybe down to the age. End of January is going to be. 2025 is going to, yeah, you're going to be.
Starting point is 01:26:21 Talk to me in Feb. We'll let you know if I'm a thousand error or a hundred there. Hopefully not a negative number error. But. that we see this all time Francisco Akeleini, a lot of money Doesn't mean he makes good ownership decisions Darrell Cates, a lot of money, doesn't make you be
Starting point is 01:26:36 good ownership decisions. Apparently you can go live by You can do the whole bleeping league. Apparently you can go live by Kate's $4 million in Edmonton for a house right beside Darrell. That's it. I don't think he loves there anymore but he definitely owns that house. Well, whatever. He's got that $120 million. He might pop in and out.
Starting point is 01:26:51 Now and then, yeah. Hey, Jack, can we check Jerry's rating? Jerry Judy. Judy Judy. Judy. I'll take a look. Woody might be completely out to lunch on this. And what is the standard?
Starting point is 01:27:04 Can you imagine your scouts who you've literally paid? You're like, I'm a billionaire. This is my bill. I want the best scouts. I want the smartest coaches. I want the most savvy GM. And they're like, Woody, here's what we think. This is a really great opportunity for us to get better.
Starting point is 01:27:17 He's an 83 overall. I don't know what. I can't have an 83 playing for me. I don't know what's good or bad, though. Like is 83 decent? Can you imagine Daryl Sutter being told he can't add Rhett Warner because his NHL 94 rating was too low? I'm going to check the Rhett Warner highest rating in NHL video game. NHL video game.
Starting point is 01:27:46 I don't know the D ratings, but I think you would have topped out around a 76, I'm going to say. Oh, no, I was way above that. Really? Oh, yeah. 80s? Come on. I was definitely in the 80s. I thought you'd be a power.
Starting point is 01:27:57 My kids have used me. They've used me. Like, I'm not that shitty. Over and over. Okay. And it's not just because I'm their dad. Either way, very normal things for owners to do. We're looking at Madden ratings, right?
Starting point is 01:28:08 I can't find it. At least he doesn't regret that Aaron Rogers signing, right, Dean? No, that one's worked out great. Yeah. And Aaron, the thing about him is he'll just do his own thing. He doesn't want any attention on him. Yeah. Butterfly is just, I was going to say, to set this up appropriately.
Starting point is 01:28:28 he's an ayahuasca guy like he's he's he's he's a nutbag go too far with the ayahuasca yeah now so what is what is iowa it's kind of like a are you drinking that or you are you yeah so you're you're you're in it's an imbibe you're you're drinking the iawaska and this is erin after at least a couple it would seem of iawasca do we have a couple of butterflies is just another term for the Caterpillar. It's really a caterpillar the entire time. And... Wait for it. Caterpillar opens his wings and just cannot fucking leave.
Starting point is 01:29:07 This is my life now. I get to fly around. I get to smell flowers and eat flowers. To live like that. Living your wildest dreams every single day. We're not drinking that tomorrow, are we? I hope so. How long is it last?
Starting point is 01:29:28 I'll do that for 20 minutes. I can't live like that. Just like the jealousy thing, you've got to work through these issues, man. You've got to deal with some things. How long this stuff lasts? Like 12 hours. Like, is that the stuff?
Starting point is 01:29:43 You don't do it alone. You want some. No, you'll go right. Yeah. Cuckoo for Cocoa Puckoo. You want to be in the wilderness? With or without people. It's not a casual.
Starting point is 01:29:53 Society, no society. The Steelers game and enjoy. type of thing. It's more of like eat a bag of mushrooms and walk into a forest for a week kind of thing. You know all that stuff? You know how you do this, Dean? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:30:05 You just kind of take whatever. With that, it, everything that you've been pushing down forever. Boom, finally erupts. Decades of compaction. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:30:18 That'd be quite a show. You don't want to be around people for that. Nope. Just so, in case you're wondering. Warner's ratings typically ranged around the mid-80s. Wow. I'm no Jerry Judy, but.
Starting point is 01:30:36 Woody Johnson loved to bring you in to play wide receiver, right? That's great news. Back into that good NFL money. I'm not that tall, but I've got long arms. He does have great levers. Injuries, hurt teams.
Starting point is 01:30:49 We know that. Here's the list. Kind of like J-Kuda style. Who's been hurt the most? Look at the lions, guys. What are the, 11 to 2, 12 and 2. That's crazy.
Starting point is 01:31:00 They're still that good. 22 players on IR Popper out for the season. Jeez. And there's the bills of the bottom. Retro. Staying healthy. Knock on one, quick. Dean, knock on what?
Starting point is 01:31:13 Dean. I am. Thank you. Jack, where are your Steelers here? They're right in the middle of the back. 11. Okay, good.
Starting point is 01:31:21 Broncos, I don't like that you brought this up. This is. Oh, yeah, it's just more conversation. Detroit. I didn't even look at the bottom half there. Ignore anything I've said if it bothers you. There's great fake punt in college football, I believe this is college. High school?
Starting point is 01:31:37 Maybe high school. Either way. Looks like college. Oh, and walks of a run right. Look at this. It seems past. Inside the tens. That's not the punter.
Starting point is 01:31:52 It's Jerry Judy fast. Yeah. So it lines up looks very normal. and then Jack, you played some football. You're a big football guy. Jack played football. Walk me through that play call. It's a fake pun.
Starting point is 01:32:07 I don't know what the play call is. It looks like. I just mean like you drew that up. Is that genius or is that completely disinter? I've never seen this. It's like a shovel pass from the punter. Right? Number six should probably follow his man.
Starting point is 01:32:20 Yes. But he goes back and he's wide open. Room to run. Must be fun to go for. 50 yards where someone touches you. Yeah, the number six gets enough. Yeah, he probably tried the next time. Hey guys, you're trying 60 yards.
Starting point is 01:32:33 No, touch me. Love football. Fun game. Oh, let's go get an offense. Go back. Oh, you see something like that? Jesus, red. Let me guess.
Starting point is 01:32:43 It's not the honeybee guy on the, the mascot. How does it be? Yeah, I didn't know Cal had a bee for a mask. That's great. Aren't the bears? All right. Look at everybody's happy.
Starting point is 01:32:54 Kids love it. Kids love a mascot. Kids love the bees. I love when you get to dive into snow. We had that crazy soccer game and Evanston, I go now the football teams and shovel the field. Woo!
Starting point is 01:33:07 Just don't go over the plan. You know what? The snow was so crispy yesterday. My kid dove in and said he hurt himself. Yeah, it's itchy, scratch, no good. Tebracci ice right now. Tears and peace. New MMA sensation sweeping the nation.
Starting point is 01:33:26 You like combat sports? Yes, I do. What if you could dress up an art? armor like it's the 1500s. There we go. Oh, my God. I'll be trying to keep it, G. I think we're allowed to curse on it.
Starting point is 01:33:40 We are, but, uh, yeah, I'm trying to keep it struck. Dang. Whoa. Did you see that home? Beautiful. That was so cool. That's the one disadvantage with the halberd is he. Do you throw?
Starting point is 01:33:51 There we go. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. That's, that's, that's, that's, I mean, I knew John.
Starting point is 01:33:59 I love John. So that's how they used to do, right? Yeah. Just line up and slash. Wow. That armor works. Decently, like, not enough for that guy's jibn not to be cut open. No, but I mean, can imagine if it wasn't there?
Starting point is 01:34:13 It'd be a lot worse, to your point. You and Dean? Oh, I'd love a shot at that guy. Which guy? Boom. He'd have some gimmecky bullshit. I would. Yeah, I would.
Starting point is 01:34:26 You know what I would? I'd be very cunning. I would out. Fox you. Wait a minute. He's got a taser on the end of his sword. Tazers run around in the 1500s, you ass have. I told my kids about your taser
Starting point is 01:34:40 new tasers sport. They're very intrigued. They feel like their cousins are coming to town and maybe maybe a little taser tag in the basement. You've heard a laser tag. Now we have Taser tag. Happy holidays. Everyone. Now, Rhett, you've been
Starting point is 01:34:56 talking about the credit card bill. and, you know, the shoveler, we used to see the delivery trucks wheel up from your Buffalo studio all the time. I know some people, and it might be a little selfish. Maybe it's protecting someone else. They have a little secret stash of money.
Starting point is 01:35:10 They don't let other people know about. This is, check what Rett's doing with his cash here, dude. This is wild. A lot 50 spot right there. Shuffler's not getting any of that. Make sure that's snap tight. You don't want to lose that. You got to seal it.
Starting point is 01:35:28 I'm not saying this easy to do, Dean, but when it's that, look, look at that, Red. That's a Canadian 50, too. It looks like it doesn't it? That's Red. I got a couple for Dean here because they involve dogs, and we love dogs, but Dean loves dogs and hates people, which makes his love with those even stronger. Horse race going on, and I don't know if that's bear, who is that? Let's see how to look here. I'm going to tell how to stop house time.
Starting point is 01:36:01 Well, he's very excited. He's got a. He's got the triphals. affect the triactor and dialed no emotion just steely focus he's got a lot on the on five he's got a lot on five this is awesome oh god give the tail it's like that's the hell it's like that's a thousand minutes yeah uh dogs
Starting point is 01:36:42 now dog watching horse race is good But sometimes dogs are trying to do everything, and you've got two windows open in the car. Which windows got the better sniffs? Let's check it. What? It's going from side. What? What?
Starting point is 01:36:59 The dog! That dog loves the car ride. In the new dog in two months. Isn't that great? Merry Christmas, boys. Yeah. You want to go for a car ride? And the overpays, one and a half smiles for boom on the show.
Starting point is 01:37:33 It was the line today. Two dog clips, two smiles. They're right. Love it. How do you make chocolate milk? Many people ask this question. This is how you make chocolate. Here, let's leave it to the experts.
Starting point is 01:37:44 How to make chocolate milk. How to make chocolate milk. French music. She nods. Like, yep, it's right. It's a good blend. Yep. Got the ratio.
Starting point is 01:38:10 Yeah. What if you, so she was using, is that the liquid or the powder? That looked like the liquid. The liquid quick. It was the sauce, not the powder for sure. Um, we love Aussies. We like Ozzy swearing. What about Ozzy swearing while golfing?
Starting point is 01:38:24 It's a beautiful game. Fuck. Shit. Fuck. Shit. Fuck. Shit. Shit.
Starting point is 01:38:39 Fuck. Oh, shit. Oh. Oh, fucking shit. Yeah. They pull it off of such grace. Yeah. It really is something special.
Starting point is 01:38:53 It's a great game. I know. Smoking the hookah in the back of his motorcycle the other day. He's got tricks galore. He can be more than just that. Remember he was at the balance? I have, shit. So he's been messing around with fireworks since his time in Buffalo.
Starting point is 01:39:08 That's left an impression on him. What are we doing here, Red? This was after the bills? Why are you so excited? We're leading the charge. The aliens look down and just shake their heads. It's like a video game. Look at this.
Starting point is 01:39:27 How wicked is that going to be when I get out on the lake this weekend and do that? Oh, yeah. They'll see you go winners on. I love that. He's got the Santa hat on. Said Santa or a rooster. It looks like a, yeah, it looks like a rooster. Maybe it was just the Christmas spirit.
Starting point is 01:39:45 I saw sound. I want to see Santa. Dean tells me with a soccer game. It looks like some sort of an exhibition that you were. Yeah, walk us through this one. I'm big footy guy. He doesn't want any competition in Calgary for tickets here. Both teams are very strict on the roster.
Starting point is 01:40:15 Both teams are very strict on the roster. You would think, how big does the net have to be? That is. That is pizza on our jerseys, as you can see. Has steak, but it's pizza. Yeah. Galazzo, that's the goal. Anyway, what team were on?
Starting point is 01:40:43 I hope you won. It's a deep bench because cardio is key when it comes to footy. Yeah. So we got 60, 63 man rosters. That's a lot. Quick changes, boys, quick changes. Keep them tight. A hard 8, 10 seconds and then you're off.
Starting point is 01:41:02 Don't make me rattle the door. Let's go. Back down to Florida. Checking in on a lovely couple, having a romantic date. The Everglides. That squawed puppy, hey, name? Having a sandwich hanging out. I don't see their midland, man.
Starting point is 01:41:33 I smell beer. What's what are they? I tell you. The geese look different. All right. My damn, pork Lloyd. That's a vibe there. That looks like John Daly.
Starting point is 01:41:50 Geez. Good done, Johnny. Would surprise you? No, it's surely. Nope. I mean, the only missing is a good 60 pound or something, but yeah. Finally, have ever watched a wrestling promo in reverse? Kind of get into this wrestling thing.
Starting point is 01:42:06 Not sure. Let's give it a spin. see what it looks like again again again if the aliens are coming they're the germans the germans yeah i thought he was the the great american but maybe he was yeah he was upset there at uh macho man for uh right march man for uh right march Assuming that he was with Miss Elizabeth. Hoban's much scruples, higher, higher morals than that. That's it for your Pender Report on this fine Thursday date.

Starting point is 01:44:03 a little, kind of a little thing there. You're going to get a discount. promo code kind of deal. And if you go in store at Market Mall, their new location since the first of November, you say, I hear you about you guys on Barnberger. You're going to get that.
Starting point is 01:44:14 I said we've been banging the drum for the discount last few days. How have things been going? He says, appreciate you. Last push. Thank Warner for me. The shoveler's great. There you are.
Starting point is 01:44:27 She is great. She's great. That's what everybody says. She's a winner. Interesting. Me included. Great. Labgrown diamonds, Vena Nova, there's a discount for you, Barn Burner online in store.
Starting point is 01:44:45 You're welcome. Tell them the shoveler sent you. Yep. You're welcome. Easy peasy. Lemon squeezy? Is that how that ends? What about lemon meringue?
Starting point is 01:44:58 Oh, I like that. Do you? I don't. My daughter brought it up the other day. She says, I love lemon meringue pies. When have you ever had lemon meringue pie? How could you do me like this, Dad? Or what did you call you? Chubby, tubby? Tubby, tubby.
Starting point is 01:45:10 Tubby, yeah. Maybe you should whip some up, tubby is what she said. I love it and get to work. Yeah. And I said, well, I'm not real good. You just use egg whites, tubby. You have recipes all over the internet. Come on.
Starting point is 01:45:27 Yeah. That's the meringue part, Ryan, is the, you take your, your eggs and you kind of do that sort of deal. Just keep the whites and then you whip it. Whip it good. Let's get to the great clips inbox. Great clips. It's going to be great. Get the app.
Starting point is 01:45:47 If you have it already, what are you doing? Let's step up your game, more than 4,400 hair salons throughout the United States and Canada. World's largest hair salon, brand. How about it? Largest. Not small. But yet, all of everyone that you go into,
Starting point is 01:46:03 locally owned and operated. I like that. I like that. Both worlds. Use the great clips check in app. You'll find the wait time on there. You can check in in your phone. I'm not even there, but yet I'm in line.

Starting point is 01:46:23 you're 15 minutes out. Time to get there. Let's go. Chop, chop. I say thank you, app. Great clips. It's going to be great.
Starting point is 01:46:32 For more information, go to their website and check out greatclips.com. You can, you can send your your questions, your thoughts, that sort of thing. Queries. To the show, queries. Great clips inbox at flamesnation.ca. Is the, uh, the old deal there?
Starting point is 01:46:50 Email address. Is that what we're going with still? I think so, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. All right. Yep. Uh, let's start with this one. It's from Michael.
Starting point is 01:47:04 Hey, Michael. Guys, on Friday, you were talking about recent contract for a Zeri comp. How about Lundell on the low end to Baneers on the high end? Both are setters, young two-way players, recent extensions, and get points but aren't 90 plus point guys. Cap hit should probably be closer to Lundell's, but add the Ford attacks, discount,
Starting point is 01:47:27 then add back the weather discount and then playing for a contend. So what, six, six and a half million? So he's using Lundell and Maddie Baneers. Yeah, Lundel, not Lundell. Linda Lindele and the and Baneer is interesting. Yeah. I mean, Benier's is a little bit younger.
Starting point is 01:47:43 He's younger and a little higher ceiling probably. Yeah. They're talking to be an absolute superstar. Dylan Gunther was extended. I think in the summer by Utah. That's another one people have looked at. Yeah, there's no perfect fit.
Starting point is 01:47:58 And some of these guys have been a little more offensively. Like the way we talk with Zari, people must think he's on pace for 70 points. But it's like, he's just really, really good and smart. And we believe there's going to be more ceiling there. Um, yeah, maybe Lundell's a good comp. And maybe, and part of it is, like we talked about, we've kind of been deprived of
Starting point is 01:48:14 exciting young players. Yes. Yeah. It's, it's a valid point. So he also came out of nowhere. No one was talking about Connor's area at camp last year. It's true. Didn't make the team.
Starting point is 01:48:25 It's called up right before that outdoor debacle in Edmonton. Uh, and has been arguably one of the rest players since then. Correct. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:48:36 Yeah. Baneers came with a lot more hype and all that. Eric, Hey, Rhett. I don't know what he's done. Boomer mentioned a while ago that everybody needs a buddy like you. Someone when you go to a restaurant of a different cuisine, you always know what to order.
Starting point is 01:48:55 What sneaky good thing are you ordering at an Indian restaurant? Ooh, Navratam Korma, but I don't think that's sneaky good. Never to who what? But to me, that would be, because I would have no idea. Yeah, do lay that up for us. It's a veggie dish, but it's just a different curry. It's, it's, it's amazing. I like the vindaloo, lamb vindal, but it's spicy hot.
Starting point is 01:49:19 But again, that's not off. No, it's not off menu at all. You know what? But you know what it is? It might be something off. That's the man. I need to. After you've besmirched him and his family, he's going to give you the good stuff.
Starting point is 01:49:31 I, you two idiots wouldn't, anyway. But yeah. that's what I would go with. But I don't, again, I'm so, I don't know how far off the map that is for a normal order. Do you know what I mean? And again, you're asking for a unique take on Indian food. That's not really Say it again. Navratam Korma.
Starting point is 01:49:52 Well, there's levels to it, though. Now, we're not going to walk into an establishment and you're not going to be able to have some direction on the menu. You see me, you know, I'm going to have an opinion. The Vietnamese, Indian food, like wherever we you go, you're going to be able to, yeah, oh, this is what you should, this is good. And maybe you do have some off the beaten track stuff, but, uh, favorite things I like to do is a good restaurant where I'm not. And there's a big group, tell the chef to feed us. Yeah. That's a great
Starting point is 01:50:20 move. And then there, there was also because we are buddies as people are tight. Spent a lot of time together. Are we, we're nut buddies, right? Still? I think so. Does Jack know this? Once you're a nut buddy, you're, it's Jackie, you wear the history here? It's a blood bond. It's a nut buddy. Yeah. Yeah, Rhett and I are long time nut buddies. And I believe we're also bucket buddies.
Starting point is 01:50:48 Yes, the bucket would, yeah, 100%. You got to just put it's for Jack. He's spinning. What's the, what's a nut buddy? Okay, we'll start with nut buddy. We're nut buddies because, especially this time of year, it's good to have a nut buddy. Yeah. If you go somewhere and there's a, maybe a bowl of mixed nuts or maybe you buy the big,
Starting point is 01:51:08 they're expensive now, but you buy some of the mixed nuts. Ret and I are nut buddies because I'm a cashew guy. I'm going to be fishing out the cashews. Likes the soft. And Rhett, he has no interest in the cashews. You're more on the, what, the. A firm nut, a hard nut, a hazel nut. Hazel.
Starting point is 01:51:27 Yeah. A Brazilian. What about the almond? Do you like the almond? I love the almond. I love the almond. I like almonds. And see, yeah, it's, I could do without, I'm, I, I'm a soft nut guy.
Starting point is 01:51:38 He's a soft, give me the, what's the other, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, yeah, yeah, it's the, the, we're, yeah, yeah, it's in middle of the road. Yeah. So we're kind of, we're, we're, we're, we're not buddies. We would get along great. Jack, if they sit down with a huge bowl of mixed nuts, they're going to, like, No, they're not fighting at all. We're not going to be chirping at each other. Hey, stop eating all the, there's hands out of there. Blank.
Starting point is 01:52:10 Same holds true with the bucket of chicken. I do like the white meat. The breast. The breast. Rett says, that's dry. I want no part of that. Give me the, give me the thigh.
Starting point is 01:52:23 Yeah. Maybe a whing or a leg, a drumstick. We're never going to, I'm never going to be looking in there. Hey, dude, don't eat all the big, beautiful breast. Like white meat? What are you doing? and he's not going to be coming at me. You ate all the thighs.
Starting point is 01:52:38 Bucket buddies. Makes sense. It's great. This time of year, Nut buddies is crucial. Nut buddy. Yeah. It's entertaining.
Starting point is 01:52:46 A lot of mixed nut holes. Yeah. Brown liquor and nut buddy season. Prime. Big time. Yeah. Yeah. Why do you bring it up?
Starting point is 01:52:56 Well, it was just going back to that, just talking about you with restaurants, because he said here, Boomer mentioned a while ago, everyone needs a buddy like. you. So that's kind of where I went to with that.
Starting point is 01:53:11 Now this fella, he's a big long time listener. He comes out to events. We've seen him at Richmond's and that. He as promised, and I didn't know he promised, but as promised here is my mom's cabbage rolls recipe. Oh. I'm the youngest of eight, so we ate peasant food from Poland and Ukraine.
Starting point is 01:53:34 and beside borsh, potato soup, and petahehe, our favorite was Holopsee, which is, you know, bacon and rice cabbage rolls. That sounds good. Do you want me to go through it or probably? Well, that's a weird look here. This is the, I'm not, I like recipes. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:53:53 I, but I have a hard time believing that that was the request. Yeah, I don't know that recipe. How about you drop off the cabbage rolls and then we're every. Yeah, pizza bet's not. popping off a recipe to make a pizza. It's the actual pizza that we're interested. Oh, right? Anyway, sorry. I don't want to be ignorant, but related, but maybe unrelated. And thank you for emailing in. I had some unbelievable cabbage rolls last weekend from where I can't tell you. Is this the pickle? Stop it. No, different, but similar. I know it's different, but it's exactly.
Starting point is 01:54:28 It's you being an ignorant. Selfish. Yeah. So we're not cabbage roll buddies? Nope. Apparently not. Maybe off air. We could be cabbage roll buddies, but we cannot be over. We cannot be YouTube cabbage rolls buddies. No chance. What about the sour cabbage roll?
Starting point is 01:54:48 Had that? No. My uncle makes a sour cabbage roll. Yeah. At first. That was delicious. Is that your drunkle? No.
Starting point is 01:55:04 Different guy? What makes it sour, do I want to know? Sourcrow. The cabbage. The cabbage is soured more of like a sourcrow. Okay. I like sourcrow. And within reason, there's no,
Starting point is 01:55:16 yes, there's no rational why the cabbage roll should taste good. I don't necessarily care for cabbage. And then it's cooked and it's all kind of wet. And it's just rice with, and depending on different kind of bacon or whatever. Okay, fine. And then you pour tomato soup over top of it.
Starting point is 01:55:34 Sounds awful. Give me more. I can't get enough. I can't get enough. Who's got the best roles in town? That's what he's not telling you on there. Best roll. I tried to sneak it in there.
Starting point is 01:55:48 I know. Yeah, I don't know. I do make a pretty good roll retro. Wouldn't know. You've never. Bring a man. Prove it.
Starting point is 01:55:59 I've never eaten anything you've cooked. I feel like if by the time, I would need to make it day of. And I would want them very quickly to go from oven. to your jib i'm seven minutes away that is true that bridge is it's nice now some people are still confused they're idiots and they think it's 80 across bridge still it's wide open you can go a hundred that's why they built that's why they built it it's four lanes
Starting point is 01:56:27 is idiot it's all lanes like that there's like six lanes it's a lot of lanes back to you dean Back to me. We'll do this one. It's Mike. I have a question about the low Canadian dollar and how players are being paid in American dollars and how it affects the flames. Well, Mike, their revenues will be flat and their expenses are rising by the same amount the Canadian dollar is declining against the American dollar. Back to you, Gene. Yeah, I saw, I'm trying to remember. Does it affect the players. I can tell you that.
Starting point is 01:57:03 It makes the players wonderful. It makes better because they can turn it into more Canadian dollars than they're living here. Oh, that million dollar house? No, no, no, no. $700. The, uh, it was like Chris Johnson or somebody was on, maybe it's that the, on Twitter, whatever it was, but was talking about how one cent difference in the Canadian to American, every time it goes down.
Starting point is 01:57:27 Yeah. It's 20 million. 20 million dollar impact. So if it drops five cents, that's 100 million in HR, which sounds like a lot, but we're talking about over six billion dollar business right now. So it's significant, but it's not like, Save the Flames rallies are coming. I was out tapping my card last night at Pro Skate. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 01:57:50 And the amount of Americans dabbling into the, very excited. The Yanks, this very excited to. I would say go through your house and whatever you can put on eBay to send to the states. Yes. Do it. Now that those Canada posties are back. working. Good for you guys.
Starting point is 01:58:11 I think they got forced too. They're not happy about it. They're not happy about it. Yeah. I mean, I wouldn't be happy either. I love not working. Listen, we're already in trouble with the hippo union. We don't need to go.
Starting point is 01:58:20 Yeah, the big hippos all over us. We've got settled on here. Back to you, dude. Phil with a comment more than anything else, Charles de Gaulle tried to get Quebec to separate and got thrown out of Canada. I believe he vived Le Quebec Libra. Did he vive in Le Quebec? Yeah, he was viving Le Quebec Libra.
Starting point is 01:58:38 He, uh, he was viving LeCbec LeBra. in Vivla, Quebec. Yeah, he was saying something along the lines of Vivla, Quebec Libre. Interesting. It stirred up quite a thing at home, believe it or not. Yeah. Home like your home? Like the Quebec home.
Starting point is 01:58:52 Oh, back home. Because they wanted to be Libre. I thought Ozzy Sheila was pissed off or something. I'm like, what, what's her stake in the game? She would have to learn about this, though, with them. Oh, yeah. She's a Canadian. Vivlo wallaby.
Starting point is 01:59:05 That's what she's big wallaby back. Vivella Veggwinez. Brady. What does Calgary need to do to build ourselves for a contending run this season? This season? Can it be done without destroying the rebuild in the future? Yes, it can. No, it cannot be done.
Starting point is 01:59:20 It's miraculous, but it can. Walk us through one, just for example. You look for a miracle. Yeah. And then you don't do anything. So let's call whoever's running the Oilers, whether that's Paul Coffey or the old agent or Stan Bowman or the owner. No, I still think you'd have just bring in McDavid. that's a start if macdavid's wife's new franchise the clothing thing doesn't take off she said she's coming
Starting point is 01:59:47 to calgary and she's bringing him with there you go see and that's get them to me now i'll give you a fifth rounder you guys can't hit it first you listen if this guy can't succeed in edmonton i don't know how we're going to make it work in calgary but then what do we need after that so you go macdavid cadry backlin one two three quadr i think if you thought Connor you'd be all right so there's your Miracle. Another D, though. Drury's shipping guys out. Go get Fox and Shister.
Starting point is 02:00:11 He loves it here. Fox has had a big, what is it about face? Is that what? He's looked in the mirror. He's reflected. A.k.a. A miracle. He's done the city wrong.
Starting point is 02:00:22 He wants to make it right. Make it back up to the Calgary. So you add Fox and McDavid. I think you're there. I think we're putting too much into this. I think the answer is nothing. Brady. Appreciate you, you know, being part of the show, but there's nothing there.
Starting point is 02:00:35 You don't think that wouldn't help. like David and Fox? Yeah, I bet. This one's from Jack. And I don't think it's our, it's a different email. You would just talk about it. Jack wants to know, hey, retro,
Starting point is 02:00:49 did you see the Bill's Reds? What do you think? So I grabbed a photo, a few photos. The bills are going with, I think maybe is it this weekend. They're bringing out the Reds. The Bills Reds. I've seen these before, haven't I?
Starting point is 02:01:05 I think so. Weird jerseys a couple years back where everyone wore like full. Yeah, the color rush. The Thursday night color. Yeah. I'm fine.
Starting point is 02:01:14 White pants, the red pants would be really. It does sort of look like, what, Houston Texan Z. It's got a little, uh, throwback Patriots.
Starting point is 02:01:23 Patriot vibes a bit. Yeah. I don't think it matters. Their color scheme, so I don't know what else you should do. Have you schemed up any other schemes? I'm not scheming at all. I'm just.
Starting point is 02:01:34 Yeah. You don't want it here. They're fine. Here's the thing. Does it have a flying buffalo on it? Yeah, it does. Charging at Eisen? Yeah.
Starting point is 02:01:44 Then I'm a fan. That's what it's doing, right? Is the, that red streak? It's just, yeah. A lot of inertia. Jace.
Starting point is 02:01:56 So is Boomer the singing voice of the Pike and Frank bomb songs? Oh, that's straight off the internet. Yeah, it's a famous singer. You know. sex bomb Tom Tom Jones Tommy
Starting point is 02:02:09 he looks like your uncle herb he kind of does oh there's a yeah definite yeah it's that's uncanny actually nothing Frank bomb Frank bomb
Starting point is 02:02:22 it's a Frank bomb Frank bomb baby Frank bomb baby Frank bomb Frank bomb it's a Frank bomb get ready for a big Frank bomb
Starting point is 02:02:35 If the show goes under, not because we weren't, you know, like, billing people. It's because we spent too much on the Tom Jones hooks for drops. Now, the Frank Baum song. No, I can't tell you. I mean, am I capable of that? Like, that's the Frank Bomb song. And then there's the... Pike bomb, Pike Bomb, Pike Bomb, it's a Pike Bomb, Baby, Big.
Starting point is 02:02:57 Pike Bomb, Big. Pike Bomb, Pike Bomb, Pike Bomb. It's a Pike Bomb. Starting point is 02:03:54 Speaking of Harry, you get booked right in. Don't have to wait around. That's right. It'll be less hairy. Yeah. Speaking of Harry, you're keeping your beard for Christmas. this beard's been here for since like I started working with you guys. I'm thinking of going back to the stash.
Starting point is 02:04:09 Yeah, you should go back to the stash. Hell yeah. Well, especially if you're not getting enough respect around the house. Wow, and we're going 70s country Christmas this year. That's the theme. There you go. There's no doubt about it then.
Starting point is 02:04:21 Maybe some big old handlebars on that what else do you need for you need that fake wood on the wall? Remember that stuff? Yeah, yeah. Like that plyboard. Yeah. You're going to get a mechanical bowl for the living room?
Starting point is 02:04:36 No, I'm going to get a pool table. You need one of those. Put it in the money. Those big wooden spoon. There's a big wooden spoon and a big wooden fork. You hang that. You get like little collectibles. I'm trying to remember what the hell that was called.
Starting point is 02:04:52 You could order them off a TV and you, I got, hey, I got this little vase and the next month this vase comes out. You're all in. Yeah. Yeah. The plates, too. Hang the plates on the wall. You're watching silver spoons on a platter thing on the wall.
Starting point is 02:05:07 See that? And you back then. Don't forget, maybe the most important piece. An ashtray. Yeah. Because what we've got to do. Getting back into it. It's the 70s.
Starting point is 02:05:19 Yeah. Who's not smoking? My old man had the ashtray. That's all it was. It was like on a pedestal with feet. And then on the top was just the big, big glass ashtray. What's this? This piece of furniture, it's an ashtray.
Starting point is 02:05:35 I wonder if you showed your kids. That's what I mean. You know what? They deserve to see it. Weiny bastards. Brown liquor, lots of ice and darts. And like you're, if you're, like, you're the old place we used to work out, there's a newsroom. You're guys literally with bottles in the cabinet.
Starting point is 02:05:57 Jeff was ripping darts. Constantly. Like, anchor man, man. I wasn't that long ago. It's ripping darts on smokes. What is a house trailer, Dad? That's where dad grew up, sweetie. Tubby, that's terrible.
Starting point is 02:06:14 That's good bad for you, Tubbs. Gee, I'm sorry. That's Christmas. Bet 365, because there's stuff going on. Oh, yeah. A lot. A lot going on. Hockey, football.
Starting point is 02:06:27 Bet 365, there you see it, the official gaming partner and presenter of Barnburner. Get that promo code. Their nation. use it when you sign up, download the app, and start having a ball. Huge range of markets. Whatever the moment, it's never ordinary at Bet365. Ryan.
Starting point is 02:06:45 Oh, there's a wee lad. Wee lad, McConkey. McConkey. McConkey, conkey, conky, conky. 100 yards. We're laddering this sum be up to plus 320 half a day. Oh, young ladley. Get her going tonight, would you?
Starting point is 02:07:02 The line, I think, is around. 64 or five. I am a large believer in lad today. A large believer is a small lad. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You don't have to ramp it up that higher, ladder it. I do like Cortland Sutton hit the over as well. He's seemingly clicking with Bo Nix of late.
Starting point is 02:07:19 64 and a half the total for him. That's at a very reasonable minus 110. So depending on your appetite for big game hunting, Dean. Two games on the Thursday nighter. I wouldn't even dare look at Alinas Olmark shut out either with the senators in town to play. The flames. He's only two in his last three games.
Starting point is 02:07:36 It'd be rude to even do that. Yeah. Yeah, it'd be very jinxy for sure to do that. To do that. Especially after you jinxed the Lindholm thing two days ago. Exactly. Can't do it today. Use your powers carefully.
Starting point is 02:07:46 Yeah. Cortland Sutton's having a crazy good year, right? Suddenly, right? The only people that know that are people that have them in fantasy. I look at his house, Jesus. Gosh. So he must be playing him this week. No, I just kind of.
Starting point is 02:08:02 I was maybe offered him in a train. I'm like, get out of here. I'm no idiot. And then you put it in the scouts and you're like, oh. Ooh. Maybe. Maybe. Goodness gracious.
Starting point is 02:08:13 About 365. The world's largest sports betting platform. Although I want. You don't work. Super chat. We've got a super chat. How the super chat works. It's a cost you a little bit of dough.
Starting point is 02:08:31 You fire it up. And you get a guaranteed mention on the show. Your question, your thought, your query. It gets used on the show. Garundaranteed. we're taking the money that comes in and donating it to the youth centers of Calgary. So we go to the old super chat today and give it a look. See 699 from RideStar 17.
Starting point is 02:08:51 What's your three's go to game seven slash Christmas drinking show walkout tune? Oh. Right now, Van Halen. Streets have no name by you too, maybe. Beautiful people, Marilyn Manson. I'm going to go with public. service announcement by Jay-Z. That's just when the beat drops, that is a banger.
Starting point is 02:09:12 The walkout song. Yeah, if we're introducing it now. You're coming out to take it. You're going out for the UFC or you're coming out. You're what you're. Hmm. Just the jigolo. David Lee Ra.
Starting point is 02:09:32 Doesn't really drop. I know, Rhett, you're, oh, Lord, it's hard to be humble when you're perfect in every way. That's, that would be yours for sure. Thank you, Dean. Jack, you've a walkout song? Thinking. It's got to be some nickelback, I think. Dean, something's going on over here.
Starting point is 02:09:50 Is that right? Jack looks like, looks messed off. Really? Oh, he's got to look to him. He's been looking at us. What's going on over there? It's not right. I'm sure you're here this week to see Jack and what's going on with his life, Dean.
Starting point is 02:10:10 Misses you. use some sage wisdom about now in his life. Walshying in with this one. Probably Freebird should be appropriate. Takes you long. Unless you're walking in for a kilometer. Yeah. If it was maybe like the outdoor game and that long walkout,
Starting point is 02:10:28 maybe that would work. And this guy here is dead. Is saying maybe stay away. Yeah, that's true. Yeah. Stay away from those guys. I didn't realize he's going to get roped in on that. That's bad news for a lot of people involved.
Starting point is 02:10:41 We're getting out of here. Two little things. A little fun fact, because you know, you know we love it. There is an outdoor game coming up on New Year's Day. Do you know where it is and who's playing in it? Yes, because you make fun of it. Finally, the Hawks get one.
Starting point is 02:10:55 Yeah. Riggily? Who are the playing? I think it's a not traditional outdoor team. Utah. Southern marketing. I don't know. I mean, it's just like, Atlanta.
Starting point is 02:11:06 It's St. Louis, I think. Yeah, okay. Because I saw the, Episode three of the countdown to the winter classic, which I like those, you know, the behind the scenes and that sort of thing. Used to be awesome. Yeah. Episode three, I have no idea.
Starting point is 02:11:22 The Amazon stuff's really good again because it's back to like the HBO stuff before they started neutering them out. Like you get the raw and that was part of Amazon's. We'll come in and do Monday nights, but we need this kind of access like Connor losing it at his teammates and game seven of the cup. Yeah. The, the NHL in-house pretty. stuff was pablum it was there's nothing media in there um so i'm glad that amazon's doing that again like
Starting point is 02:11:46 remember the epic budro rant sure like that was hbo that was not the n hl but they would never have let that see the day the light of day people have time to watch all this stuff paid to watch sports about a concept hello uh and there are seven players who have played at least 100 games for both the senators and the Calgary Flames. Seven. In the world? In the world. Universe?
Starting point is 02:12:17 Yeah. Hammondick? Travis Hammondick. Dean McCamond? Dean McCamond. Curtis Lazare? No. Elliot wouldn't have out of enough games in net for Calgary, would he?
Starting point is 02:12:32 Nope. Hammondick is one. Dean McCammon, is one. Think tough. Oh, yeah. Bigern. Bigern. Bigern.
