Barn Burner: Boomer & Pinder with Rhett Warrener - Do The Calgary Flames Have The WORST Forward Group In The NHL?? | BB Clips

Episode Date: August 25, 2026

Pinder and Rhett take a look at the Calgary Flames' projected forward lines heading into the season and... man, this could be rough. Expectations aren't exactly high in Calgary, but when you actually ...put the Flames roster together line by line, the lack of offensive firepower really starts to stand out. The guys break down where the goals are supposed to come from, which players could take a step forward, and whether Calgary might legitimately have one of the weakest forward groups in the NHL this season. Are these Flames lines as bad as they look?Video Link: https://youtu.be/7t9Go9thgDk#nhl #nhlshorts #nhlplayoffs #nhlpredictions #nhlhockey #nhlpicks #stanleycup #stanleycupfinal #calgaryflames CHECK OUT OUR STUFF ⬇️BARN BURNER MERCHhttps://nationgear.ca/collections/shirts/FlamesnationBARN BURNER SHORTS https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLj_bcGtvvo-cW2DHEDZ6dEO5ePDmlhZc9&si=jo8iNGxT4ImhS2Y8📲 Follow us:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/fnbarnburner/X (Twitter): https://x.com/barnburnerfn?lang=en🎧 Listen on:Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/be/podcast/barn-burner-boomer-pinder-with-rhett-warrener/id1648562889Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/3Mc6Qd5U22R2zbMlQ7RxIiProducer: Jack Haverstock Hosted on Acast. Starting point is 00:00:00 What are the lines going to be? Yeah, the same lines we've been talking about for two months. The worst lines ever. Yeah, it's going to be Frost playing with Coronado and Gridden. Jack. It's going to be either Zary or Hansick playing with Backland and Fairby. Stromes your third line center with Yigore and Zaria Hansik. And then Cipakon with Clopka and probably Tyson Gross is your 4C.
Starting point is 00:00:22 You have that written down. Every day. Top right corner. Jack, you have the lines. I can throw the lines. J. What about the kids? Is cons like the kids?
Starting point is 00:00:34 Sorry. What kids? Tyson Gross is like 24. The guys he drafted that rashny and they're not coming to camp. They're going to college. What? You can't come to camp if you want to college. What a loser.
Starting point is 00:00:46 College. College. He's like college last year. What are you talking about? I want him in the NHL. You'll have them in spring. That's my promise to you. Deal?
Starting point is 00:00:55 Well, if it gets hurt. He won't have it in spring. deals off okay let's pull up these lines yeah that's really it's really are there other kids that are coming to camp um i mean you're soonieves like that big d man that's in with the tigers he's gonna beat up my kids yeah he'll be there is he can beat up your kid oh that's really so dear is he threatened him or spirit Luke spirit him or so probably he probably deserves okay i got to go watch rick ear warner battle yeah this one's that i think when's that you got more of that in the Pinda report. So hold on to that thought.
Starting point is 00:01:31 Oh, hey, okay. So there's a few things that we need to discuss. Number one is Jonathan Heberto Hill. Sounds like he will be, but until we know, we don't know. Because he's coming off major hip resurfacing. Take a 10th. Number two is Marty Pospicil center. The more I watch, the more I've said no, and yet there he is. The more I watch of Marty Pospasal, the more disappointed I become. He looks like you're locked to be a 13th forward. And unimpactful. Yes, that's why he's not playing and hammering popcorn. Sipulkov's going to get some reps unless he has a miserable camp.
Starting point is 00:02:04 It's his last year of his deal and he needs to prove he's an NHella or it's over. I mean his old man, just get pissed in Buffalo, boy. Oh, baby. Love his winks. You're sure? I'm not positive, but. I have Tyson Gross at Center. I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:02:21 Go ahead. It's just a side note. Go ahead. Like the Peter Marr thing last week and all the accolades. I'm professional. Afterwards, I'm like, I'm going to be better. I'm not going to just take cheap,
Starting point is 00:02:36 shitty cheap shots. Pete's inspired me. I'm going to be a more professional. He inspired me to build these guys up. Rush me's a loser. Go to college, an idiot. One show later. It's a good idea.
Starting point is 00:02:50 Practice and practice. Probably I'll keep working on it. Back to you, Ryan. I would have Tyson Gross as the 4C. He was great on the, dot they used them down the stretch scored a couple goals one disallowed that one his dad's drunk too is that right
Starting point is 00:03:03 you're doing a really good job today Hansick's not on here he's going to be in there somewhere where zeri shakes out look here's the thing about Connor zerry everyone wants it to be good but you can't have him not earn it he's going to have to outplay people that's a good
Starting point is 00:03:22 point Ryan and it reminds you the same ben of things zary let's know because we want to see it work but you are going to be have to be better than the hansics and siplicons yeah and let's let's go what's the different student peptides and steroids by the way i feel like that me'll serve people keep asking me that too i don't know are they asking you to jack come on them is you're on the juice yeah jill or what's motivating you i have a real booster to your output i want to see zary play center again give him a it looked awful it doesn't matter what do you mean it doesn't matter the centers they ask thank you
Starting point is 00:03:55 Thank you, Jack. I agree. So can he be a center for the flames? I don't know. Yes, he can't. If they're that bad, he could be the center. Can I slap you in the face? Fine.
Starting point is 00:04:06 Put Paws or Zeri at the, why is Strom need to? Well, he's actually a center. So anyway, put Zari, I've said it last year, when you're shitty, and I don't be,
Starting point is 00:04:20 bottom of the league. And you're not projected to be a top tier team, make way else, then make, four equal lines and play them. And I'm serious, Huska, you want to get results from your guys. Play everyone and make them feel like they're part of it. I agree.
Starting point is 00:04:35 What difference does it make? Where are they loading up all this talent? Well, that's the problem. But if you want to see, I'm only speaking to Jack's point where it's like, because typically the fourth line's crap. Yes. Right? Yes, typically.
Starting point is 00:04:51 But you should have enough extra parts here to make it as good as your second line. monkey these guys around and make your lines however you want to put gridden zeri and simple golf is your fourth line i don't care it's kind of like we talked about the the power play for the dean to amateur i don't it doesn't matter it's you're all one i agree so so i will grant you guys that of course connor zerry is capable of to be out one of four centers on this team but my question you is if he's had an underwhelming season as a winger why are you giving him the harder path now you're going to have to play center i haven't liked him as a much at center and I want to see him shit as a winger either so what difference does it make just well i did like him as a winger before the injuries i'll say that that's a long time of it yeah and so the
Starting point is 00:05:35 issue we have with connor's area is he's not looked like as impactful a hockey player since the injuries fact the matter what position he's playing it's a more difficult job to ask guy to go play center at his size than it is to play wing i want to give him the easier path to success here's my thought process they have a million wingers yeah see if he can play center and if he can't just Get rid of him. He's not being impactful enough on the wing. I'm with Jack, and it's easy to argue either way. I don't agree with your take on it. And to be fair, they might take both approaches here.
Starting point is 00:06:04 He might get a run at center. And it's like, okay, well, this guy's losing more than half his draws and there's no points. Let's get Tyson Gross. Do you know that there's really only one way to get good at draws? Practice? Yeah. Yeah. I'd be doing a lot of that after practice.
Starting point is 00:06:16 Yeah. So if you're not good at draws, then. And look, if he's going to be there, fourth best option at center or their seventh best option at wing, you'd understand why no one would give a second rounder up for him this summer. Yeah. He's coming off a shitty year. Speaking of his injury. There was a lot of Craig Conroy video out there. Connie Peter Barr stuff because of the yeah babies. Boy, he was cleaning people up on the draw. Yes. Any damfus late game six. Oh. Yeah. He understands the value of a face-off winning centerman, which is why I
Starting point is 00:06:54 I have ties and grosses my Ford line center. But we'll see how it goes. I think we all want this area everything to work. And it's just sad when we had so much excitement around him. And now you see a stalled out year. But he is in very high risk of like getting passed by a lot of guys. Like Hansick's bigger is faster than him. If Hansik wants to start putting up points, there's another guy that's passed you.
Starting point is 00:07:15 Gridden's already passed here. We'll see. Want it to work. There you go. Want it to work, Connor. Want it to work. Is the chat happy now, or they mad at Art? Absolutely crushed it.
