Starting point is 00:00:10 Oh, hey, buddies. How we doing? Welcome to the show on another snowy. Beautiful January day. Another snowy, yeah, January day. Honestly, you'd take this in Jan. Boy, nice, mild, mighty. No, I don't need to take this at any point. Christmas Eve is when I want this.
Starting point is 00:00:29 Yeah, this would be all right, Christmas Eve. Maybe even before that. No, not too early because I still want to get to the mall to get all the shit done I need to do without it being too sloppy. Snow gloom. 23rd-ish. 23rd, 24th, 24th. 5th, 26th. Christmas Day. You want a white Christmas. I do want a white Christmas. Even a buildup. Even a little bit of a buildup. What would you be singing if it were like the 24th right now?
Starting point is 00:00:51 I'm dreaming of a white Christmas. Or what's that one I sang? It was really, I made it famous. Red's nuts. That one's good. Yeah. No. I sang it at the. You made it famous? Yeah. I sang it at the old place. Well, you did a lot of singing. Amazing Grace. Amazing Grace was big. Yes. I wanted you to sing Amazing Grace last year at the draft, and you said no. Yeah, why you such coward?
Starting point is 00:01:25 I wasn't inebriated or not. Can we work on that? I wanted to bring Red up and say, we were going to do the nat. Here to sing the anthem. Here's Rett, and then he would just sing Amazing Grace. But not the actual Rett's version of it, which changes. It's fluid. Turn my cans down a little.
Starting point is 00:01:39 You're blasting me out of it. Hey, Jack Attack. turn my cans up a little. Oh, yeah. See, you were sitting over here, weren't you? I was. Yeah, there you go. As Rhett said before in the pre-show, welcome to a three-banger here on the show today. As we are all in studio, now we await to see what piece of gear will fail.
Starting point is 00:02:01 I want to make an observation just because I realize my setup in Buffalo is quite unique and attractive. Jankey's the word. Oh, Jankey. But this, this is... Dead! This is professional.
Starting point is 00:02:17 This is so high end. Now I see what you guys are talking about. If we can just hang a Bill's flag behind him. Now I see what you guys are talking about. Don't blow our cover. Don't let people have no idea. They think it's great. Yeah, you're sitting in front of a small tripod with a tiny camera on it.
Starting point is 00:02:35 What a really low couch, too, I've noticed. It is. camera than yeah well you know here was our thinking on that because we've got the couch over there with the foot peg still on it yeah yeah yeah we took the feet off of the love seat so that it could sit in front and be down just a little bit so you could have almost the interceding for the TVs that we put up and then one's been taken down i don't know where it is it's in the next two and uh the other one just sits there and never gets turned i could use that one yeah my what my tvs in the house are so old You know what you get used to a smart TV.
Starting point is 00:03:09 They actually works. Like these were first version smart TVs. So not that smart. They're not smart at all. I'm smart. Now that place in Buffalo, you pulled the, the owners you rented from out of storage. Great TV.
Starting point is 00:03:20 Yeah, upstairs. Take that one home. Now, do you still have the one that you dropped when you were taking it off the wall at your place here and it fell and I don't think so? Didn't it give that away as a present for someone? That was a while ago. That was a while ago. That was a different one.
Starting point is 00:03:35 Well, we got a lot to do today. Oh, it's game day. Okay. Penultimate game of the flame season tonight. You're going to be done with that word pretty quick here. Yeah. So you can only use it until that one's done. And then you're on the last one.
Starting point is 00:03:49 So ultimate. Yeah. You're on the ultimate. So Thursday against San Jose feels like the ultimate. There's nothing. Well, as long as San Jose shows up like they did last night. Yeah, they look good. Oh, I turned off at 9-1, but I might have missed a lot.
Starting point is 00:04:05 because that was still pretty early. Yeah, I'm trying to think. It was three. I think they had three on the board when I flipped it on quickly and then. I don't know if sounds they had a shot before the third goal had gone in. Yeah, it was either three. Yeah, it was three nothing and they had one shot. Oh my God.
Starting point is 00:04:23 That's enough. There's two nothing. No shots the other way. That's enough. Yeah, I got it. So for the Calgary Flames, get your helmets on. It's a game day. They're in Vancouver to play the Vancouver Canucks who are off to the playoffs.
Starting point is 00:04:33 Life's good. Yeah, right. Yeah. They're happy. They're loving life. They can cinch up top spot in Pacific with a victory tonight. High as a kite. Also not snowing.
Starting point is 00:04:43 Not snowing there, we don't think. Good weed there, I've been told if you're into that kind of stuff. Go to the aquarium. Get whatever the hell you want. You don't stop there. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:51 The weed was big in Philly, I noticed. Really? Big everywhere. You go walk down the streets in New York City. It's everywhere. It is a heavy haze. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:00 Well, there's a lot of stress in people's lives. I guess. now if if you were allowed people to just kind of drink liquor like in Vegas which I think is legal but I think don't know how legal it is
Starting point is 00:05:12 Yeah I can walk down the strip and up Which is my thought But I don't know if it's Anyway Would we see as many people Every time you get a whiff Of the gonja Would that be the equal to watching
Starting point is 00:05:25 Somebody just taking a tug on a Mickey Or having a quick Bud light or something Oddly I was watching Slurpy booze things watching curb last night and he had the flask that's right so everyone grab a flask yeah and we'll just old school yeah it's acceptable it's whatever you needed to be i guess yeah just waiting for the fun guys to get acceptable let's roll are they not already no soon though right i thought that was pretty close
Starting point is 00:05:51 very close great investment opportunities that's what they said about weed i don't know that it's true but they didn't say that because that was very some of the places that have opened up the the doors to the drugs oh yeah have realize that maybe we got a little loose and they're starting to close the doors again. Is that right? Down in the States. Yeah, some of those cities where we don't charge you for the school, whatever you need to do. It's so hard to get it.
Starting point is 00:06:15 It's not going to go stores for people to find something. Yeah. People are loving it. Loving it. I had to, are we talking flames yet? Yeah. I had to MF a, MRI. MF a lady yesterday.
Starting point is 00:06:29 Whoa. Me. Because I went to the movie Civil War. Yeah. But I book seats in the VIP. Whoa. So I was taking my kid with me, who actually looks 18.
Starting point is 00:06:42 Yeah. But she was IDing him and giving him. I'm like he's with his father. Like, what are we? We're in here to do something. Yeah, your booze. Yeah, we're going to sit here at the bar before. I drink with my children.
Starting point is 00:06:54 So was he trying to get a drink or just get into the movie? Couldn't even get into the movie. Is that right? Oh, no. IDing for a R-A-to-film? It was in the VI. It was in the. 18 plus section.
Starting point is 00:07:04 Oh, I guess. Now what comes with the VIP? Is that like unlimited popcorn or? Nothing. They deliver your food to your seat. You don't have to miss anything when you want to It's like a door dash right at the theme. Love it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:18 All you need is catheter's built in and you don't miss a moment. Yeah. Yeah. We believe Thatcher Demko is going to be back for Vancouver tonight. That sounds like it. Yeah. Old Thatch. Just in time to get a couple of reps before they play somebody in round one.
Starting point is 00:07:33 Yeah. He has, I was looking this morning, 14 games was injured back on the 9th of March. Koducks without their number one goal tender, went 7, 5, and 2. Which for them, is not great given the season that they've had because they are quite good.
Starting point is 00:07:51 That's basically Dustin Wolf's record. He's 7-7 and 1 all the time. So would you say with, if they'd have kept them, they might have done better? Might have done a little better. I'd agree with that, yeah. Might have done a little better. He is a better goalie than Casey to Smith.
Starting point is 00:08:03 No offense, Casey to Smith or anyone. What about Archer's? sea lobs. Is he better than sea lobs? A small sample, but I'd suggest he is. All right. Yeah. Fair enough. Canucks are just good. Let's make fun of Lindholm. Yeah, we can do that. Well, you guys thought he was pouting. Maybe he's just not good guys. Wouldn't that be something? Because there's nothing to pout about there. You're like a one seed. He missed seven games. He's got five goals, five assists in 24 games as a Canuck. Five goals, five assists in 24 games.
Starting point is 00:08:37 Kuzmanko has what, 14 goals. He almost did it. I know. And which is odd for Lindholm and it is odd for the Canucks. And again, I know people, oh, the plus minus or whatever. He's a minus six, which for him is odd. And on the Canucks, everybody's well into the pluses. Yeah, well, he missed that heater they were wrong. They've been just okay since the trade.
Starting point is 00:09:01 He's supposed to help them not. He certainly was. Yeah, they get over the first and a lot to get him. Well, I mean, Kuzmiko has been considerably better than him and was more of a throw in slash balance the money type thing for Vancouver. Never mind the first. Never mind Bristevich, the really good defensive prospect of the O, never mind the what, Yermot? Another defenseman and a conditional.
Starting point is 00:09:24 Yoni Yermot? Like, it's, that is absolute trade slaughter right there. Connie, chalk up two Ws for that one. And it's another one of those things where, well, we don't think the Canucks are going to be able to sign him. I don't think the Canucks are going to want to sign him. The Canucks are not signing him. Right? At his number. I mean, unless they have, if he's awesome in the playoffs, he can make up a lot of ground, but. But they got to pay ironic this summer.
Starting point is 00:09:47 They're already going to be way too tight against. Just in terms of his value, though, like what his, what he's done. It's still remember noodles. He's driving up highway too, just firing buckets of cash out of his car. Pouring him out the window. He is. And it's not gotten any better.
Starting point is 00:10:00 Now, you have a playoff. You're a center. You can somewhat redeem your cell. Somewhat, though. You're not getting what you would have got last year. No. The offseason. money you said no to is you're it might be 60 70% of that now so this that's the catch right we applaud
Starting point is 00:10:16 guys you bet on yourself you go out you prove it you do it yeah good on you know aniffin did that and he got it he got to a contender he got more after tax money and yeah like like let go Noah wow bet on yourself look at that good job Noah uh Elias let him not so good man you're a real idiot you should take yeah and that's another one there's no way because it didn't happen and so there's no way to kind of qualify it or put it into a column or anything but what a what a huge bonus for the flames to not have given to not have nine million oh for him not to have taken a contract points or 25 games yeah yeah yeah be pretty bleak around here if you had that and huberdow and jesus it's kind of like we'd talk yeah and we were always saying well he's the guy you want yeah well and when he was the number
Starting point is 00:11:07 one center like that was he just ain't that this year i don't know that he'll be that again. Maybe he's a number two He's the number three center for Vancouver right now. They got him playing with Connor bleeping Garland. He's a two, and Dakota Joshua. Your son is here. Tell the dope.
Starting point is 00:11:21 Oh, he's brought the, he's brought the, can hand him to your father. What did you call them? Pooh tickets. The poo tickets. We're out of,
Starting point is 00:11:27 hand them over to the old man here. No, I don't want him. Yeah, let's see what you got. What did we get? Oh, the ultra plush. Push. Geez, look at that. Free plugs for Royale.
Starting point is 00:11:36 Royal. Well, with cheese. Our who's going to be great. Deserves the very best. So that's made with baby cats. Impressive. Very nice kitten fur.
Starting point is 00:11:43 Try that out. Do you think people have done that? Just taking the nice white little kitten and the caveman is for sure. I could tell you the worst. I can't even say it. Come on. Do it? Okay.
Starting point is 00:11:53 Yes, you can. I'm not name and name. Because I know where you're going. Come on. I've told you this. Yeah. So big fisherman friend. Fisherman's friend goes up out east and one of those provinces out there where you can catch musky.
Starting point is 00:12:08 Uh-huh. What do they use? for bait don't say it yeah not cool jack wants to know what you're talking about what do they use for bait i don't know what they use for bait i heard rumors that this was they would use that for bait we don't condone i don't i can't confirm or condone using kittens or anything as bait dead puppies is bait how dare you don't do it is my kid want this or not i don't know no he's not here anymore What times this game tonight? Six.
Starting point is 00:12:51 Oh, Yeah, wrong way. There's an hour time change. You're right, Red. Yeah. Vancouver's still not in the central time zone. Still.
Starting point is 00:12:58 Wrong way. We keep trying. We keep trying. Yeah, Kuzmiko, heater that he's on right now. May as well keep going, I guess. Yeah, as long as you're going. Nine games, 16 points. Nazum-Codry.
Starting point is 00:13:11 Show up, Lindholm, for sure. Yeah. For sure. Did he play? Have they played? They played since the... When we were at Greta. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:22 Didn't he get one, too? scored one or two? I was hammered. Right. Yeah, I was right out of it. We actually had two credit games against Vancouver, now that I mentioned it. One was before the one was before.
Starting point is 00:13:34 And Nazim Khadry, who we talked a little bit about, which we said we're going to put a pin in, which you don't need to visit today. I got a little Nassam Khadry note. Oh, yeah. Again, and I've trotted this one out a few times. His start to the season was, not good eight games one assist is how he started the season yeah and in the 72 games since then
Starting point is 00:13:53 73 points part per game gnazum is gravy baby yeah so he's been as down as we were 365 ago yeah with this guy out this time we were it was that awful game against was a chicago second or third last game of the season we were ready to run him out of town well it looked like he was ready to run himself out of town to be fair, but despite all that, he has been superb this year. Superb. What would you just have the overrunner on points? Like, it's been excellent. He's flirting with 30.
Starting point is 00:14:25 He has been. Yeah. Don't know that we saw that coming. No, I sure didn't, Ryan. The power play. Heater. It is rolling. Marksavard, you extend him.
Starting point is 00:14:36 He is so happy right now. God, he's a genius. Oh, he is just loving life. Is this the Matt Canada? We keep in Matt Canada? What are we doing, Jack? all savvy he's he's he's he's putting down payments down now he's like oh this is good yeah I've always good like in a place out in canmore I love the mountains uh power play has scored
Starting point is 00:14:54 in eight of their last nine and over that nine game stretch 41.9 percent jeez small sample but it is a small sample but could again they haven't had a sample like that all year to be fairly that's been none of those samples no no take a few more no nothing quite like that so uh Hey, you know what? It's good for Vancouver. Now, what's the ballpark on that? Who are they playing? Vancouver? Well, they're likely to get wildcard one, which would be Nashville, most likely.
Starting point is 00:15:24 But again, Nashville's not locked into wildcard one, I believe, and Vancouver's not locked into Pacific Division I. Does that jingle our bells? Not really, but I think it could be sneaky good. We just have to keep our expectations low. Because this is going to be some first-time jitters for Vancouver, guys. They played one playoff thing in the bubble in Edmonton. nothing that's a real playoff series for this group none of them i shouldn't say none of them but
Starting point is 00:15:48 like the core we're talking about here it's you know what i'm having a problem with what's not i look at the teams make the playoffs i don't like who's playing who like there's there could be some even i was hoping vegas edmonton yeah still could you know i was kind of but yeah la edmonton again vancouver nashville doesn't no i mean it's not that it's it's it's going to be bad hockey it's It's just optically before it starts, you're like, oh. We're going to get five or six bangers. You guys are focused on the three bad ones. That's half almost.
Starting point is 00:16:22 One of the islanders and the Rangers, that isn't going to happen. No, that's actually one of two matchups that is locked in. Isles and Carolina is going to happen. And the other one that's been locked in for a bit is Winnipeg, Colorado. It's actually odds out for those two series already on Batway, which I was looking at. And Winnipeg, the home team, but I think Colorado's favored, correct? Uh, yes. And, but can Colorado still catch them?
Starting point is 00:16:46 That I wonder. Let's look right now. Jets have two games remaining. They have more reg wins. They got a point. Yeah, it's abs. Yeah, if one of big loses out in the abs run their last game, it could be a Colorado home series.
Starting point is 00:16:58 Yeah. Oh, well, we'll watch it, right? I'm gonna, we're gonna watch it. I think I would. Jets abs will be really good. Yeah. Dallas Vegas could just be clash of the Titans round one because Vegas will be healthier.
Starting point is 00:17:09 We know that already with Markstone skating, hurdles starting to look like a significant contributor there scored in the last few if I'm correct. And this is not me taking a run at the, because it's kind of a, everybody's getting all, hey, we should redo the playoffs and we should go back to one versus eight. This is not me doing that. No, it is. I'll just say it is too bad that we will lose one of Florida, Toronto in round one
Starting point is 00:17:32 and one of Winnipeg, Colorado round one. If you start one by eight, you're going to do the same thing. The four-fives are going to be real good. It's just unfortunate. It is unfortunate. I could see. Florida, Toronto is a four-five matchup in the east if you start one through eight. So no matter the format, you're losing one of them.
Starting point is 00:17:45 Sorry. I'm sorry. I just like having them around because it gets everybody invested. Well, what if they win? Even better. It really is good. Well, you want the station to believe that they're good and then have their hearts ripped out and pull out of their chest. Like last year, we want Florida.
Starting point is 00:18:02 Exactly. Yeah. Yes. All right. Here's Florida. Here you go. Narrowly a wood sweep. Cablamo.
Starting point is 00:18:09 Cablamo. Now last night, we were, now we were talking yesterday about our buddy Jack. We were all on board with Jack. It was the penguins must win territory. Tattoos. We were all getting tattoos. We were. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:19 Might still. Probably not, but might still. But so much going on last night. And I was telling Ryan, my daughter, she's all into hockey all of a sudden, just flip of a switch about a month ago, six weeks ago. And I said, you know, tonight, you're going to get a chance to see what this is all about. Yeah. Because there's four teams. Three of them are playing.
Starting point is 00:18:39 we don't know who's into the playoffs they got to win this whole thing so we were bouncing around third period and we stumbled upon the Detroit uh that we were watching Pittsburgh and I said well they're up four to two and I think Detroit has just they were down they were down four to one and four to two I think maybe we should go watch this Detroit game yeah so jack let's uh let's go here and take a little look see because this is kind of what we ended up watching last night and we all watched it together I thought you're fishing for musculoscious so you're 52 the Another one came out, but the octopus hit the ice with 10 and a half to go in a 4-2 Montreal lead over Detroit. Across, quick shot.
Starting point is 00:19:52 Augustus Bear, Peron, cuts to the middle. Down low, Raymond, chance to shoot. He's got. He's got. Look at that crowd. What a night. Wow. It's been a long time in Detroit. I'm okay with Detroit now.
Starting point is 00:20:40 I am too. It's Cain. It's DeBricketit. It's cider. It's a fan base that's been starving. You could not make this up. Unbelievable. Oh my.
Starting point is 00:20:50 And if Gostas is Shane Gosses there, he jumps up to keep that puck in. That's a high points that thing. If he doesn't get it, there's a Montreal for we're going down. It's empty net. Yeah. There's 90 seconds left.
Starting point is 00:21:01 You probably lose. Yeah. Right. That would have made it five to three. It's cooked. Yep. And you missed the playoffs. And instead, look at this magic.
Starting point is 00:21:10 Manages to, I mean, I don't, is he, how tall is this guy? He's got some hops. He's got some hops. He's a hooper and a dimer, I bet. But, and again, this is one of those things. And if you're, I guess if you're cheering for anybody else, but if you have no vested interest, you're sudden, you're cheering for the wings.
Starting point is 00:21:29 Well, come on. Now tie this thing and let's get to overtime. Well, okay, now win this thing. Because it sets up a little bit more drama coming up tonight because these two teams, Montreal, Detroit will play back in La Belle Prevent. A night after Rock in Montreal. How about that, right? Sammy, what's his name there?
Starting point is 00:21:45 Sammy Zane. That was a hell of an entrance. Yeah, I sure it was. There you go. Lucas Raymond, pretty good player. Turned out to be. There's people in waiting, right? Was this good for Jack?
Starting point is 00:21:57 Because you started talking to Jack thing. No, this is horrible. The Penguins did win. Oh, that's good, Jack, right? Yeah. We're not going to watch. So, sorry. No, there's nothing about it.
Starting point is 00:22:07 Just to clarify, Jack, last night, Wings winning. It was horrible. Okay. I'm so sick of this guy yelling Raymond. I've watched two Red Wings games. Raymond. Everybody loves them. Everybody loves them.
Starting point is 00:22:19 Because remember, they blew what, a four-goal lead against Toronto on the weekend, only to win an overtime. Leifes almost came back from the dead there. Yeah. Raymond. And then they blew, Pittsburgh blew the game, but they won an overtime because of Raymond. Friggin' Raymond.
Starting point is 00:22:34 Pittsburgh had that on the panel. Steve Y's first ever draft pick. Pittsburgh had that 4-0 lead against Colorado. Remember the highlights of that? They came back and they... Wasn't there another team out there last night that had some say in things? The Washington Capitals. Washington.
Starting point is 00:22:48 They were taking on Austin, right? Juggernauts. And I know I've sat here, maybe all of us, but I've certainly sat here and told you how crappy the capitals are. Boring. They took on Boston, shut them out. Lindgren, his sixth shoutout of the season, 2-0 over Boston. The Capitals, on February 8th,
Starting point is 00:23:13 trailed Detroit by seven points for the final wildcard spot. Cooked. Seven points. And now, and the other game, we mentioned, Pittsburgh does win. So we go into tonight with everything on the line. If you had to guess the four goalies that lead the NHL
Starting point is 00:23:31 with six shutouts. Yeah, it's not a, It's not a Vezna class. Sure isn't. Tristan Jari, Connor Ingram, Charlie Lindgren, Chuck and Serge. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:44 Bob Brodsky. Washington, 89 points. They are at Philadelphia. They own the spot. Detroit is in Montreal. They have 89 points. Pittsburgh tomorrow will be at the Islanders. They've got 88.
Starting point is 00:23:59 And as mentioned, Philadelphia. They're hosting Washington. Not dead. 87. should be a very hungry Philly team. They need a lot to go right. And the other teams need Philly to get a result too. Everyone's here in Philly tonight.
Starting point is 00:24:11 Is that tonight? Philly? So yeah, Philly Washington tonight, Detroit, Montreal tonight, Pittsburgh Islanders tomorrow, which may mean nothing by the time tonight. It means nothing for the Islanders already, but if it could mean something for Pittsburgh, my God, that would be we have three nights in a row where it's like, whew. Yeah, the Islanders got it done.
Starting point is 00:24:28 They're locked into the three spot. I don't know how that. I don't either. What was that they had backed? they had matching seven game winning streaks, six or seven game streaks after Patrick Watts. How about it? How about it? Probably too late for coach of the year because he only came in.
Starting point is 00:24:44 I want to say like Feb March. Yeah. But impressive. Old Rick Toshae, he's probably got it. He's had it locked for a while. Probably got it sewn up. But how about sports, hey? How about hockey?
Starting point is 00:24:57 Spots. We haven't even started the playoffs and we're already on the edge of her seats. We're glued to it. Yeah, just glued. Seven out of eight for the islanders. Wow. And the loss in there, they picked up a loser point. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:09 Seven, oh, and one. Heading into that Pittsburgh game tomorrow night. If you need it. That's how you lock it down. It's how you lock it down. So well done. So this has been fun. This has been amazing.
Starting point is 00:25:22 We've had games that teams may be not great, but the circumstances made them great. Wouldn't this take the wind out of the sales if you had some stupid playing tournament in a week between these teams? you're like, no, we don't need it. Like if you had to watch St. Louis play Vegas, you're like, I just don't care. Like, no, we don't need that.
Starting point is 00:25:39 I think everything changes, though. It's too simple. You're simplifying it too much. And I'm not, and I'm not fighting. Oh, the last, it wouldn't matter as much because like, oh, well, they got the playing tournament anyway. The last three nights would not be nearly as good because, like, well, they're all going to the plane. Yeah, but every, but the guys trying to get into the playoff tournament would be fighting. It just changes it.
Starting point is 00:25:55 Every year's a little different. I just, like, I keep looking at the nines and tens, each, the last two years, this, this thing been floated and I'm like, no, they don't deserve it. And it's like, no. Well, that's different than would it be exciting? You can have bad hockey teams give you an exciting result. That's what we've watched during nights and roll. I'm saying that that excitement would have drop if we know they're all getting into this tournament.
Starting point is 00:26:15 It wouldn't, though. It wouldn't. You'd have, it would just be two teams lower doing the same thing. Everything changes if there's more teams accessible to a play in tournament. Even your trades are different. As it stands, like if you had nine and ten going, it's the exact same teams. And it just last night would have my time. You're simplifying.
Starting point is 00:26:32 You are simplifying. I'm just looking at the standings telling you how a play in tournament would look. You're saying a play in tournament would take away excitement. Because nine and ten wouldn't have had lose in your seasons over last night. But 10 and 11 would. They're too far back. But they wouldn't be. Well, they are.
Starting point is 00:26:49 I'm looking at the standings. But they would have played different. Everything changes. Your whole approach to your season. Yeah. Your trade deadlines. When Minnesota is out last week, they don't shit themselves against Vegas. Well, they don't, like, okay.
Starting point is 00:27:02 They don't, they don't even pull their goal. Remember, they, Minnesota pulled their goalie? Twice. Twice in overtime. Like, all these things play out differently. You can't. That's fair. That's fair.
Starting point is 00:27:12 I'm not saying it's, I mean, you're, you're definitively saying that it would, well, I mean, it wouldn't be exciting. What I mean is the specific games we watched wouldn't have had as much mag to, but you're right. There might have been Buffalo and New Jersey games that were more exciting. I just, those are even worse fucking teams. And it's like last year if you had to watch Calgary, Winnipeg, like, man the 9-10 teams aren't good they just aren't well last thing it was montreal detroit if you watched too crazy exciting well we had we saw 7 8 9 10 in the east play that's why i was excited
Starting point is 00:27:42 if it's playing tournament they're all already in so you don't like winner take all stuff i do i don't want to tweak a tournament that i think's awesome i think the first round of the n-h-l's the best like why are we messing that up i don't think it really does you're messing it up you're tweaking the tournament and at the portion that i think is the most interesting. I'm not, there's no point. Well, I mean, what's your position on?
Starting point is 00:28:06 Are you four or against it? I'm, if I would want to see, let's take a look at it. I'm not sitting here and saying it would take away. Like, how can you winner take all stuff? When is that ever? Not exciting.
Starting point is 00:28:19 Oh, I mean, you could have 32 teams like the playoffs if you want it. It's just at what point is it worth it versus not? I would say this. If you're going to take this league to 34 teams, you're going to, I think you should have. I think when they expand,
Starting point is 00:28:30 it'll it's coming i don't like it but i feel like it is i think you're hard line on it is i'm not for or against and i'll give a shit because it's fine like watching last night it's great tonight great but that doesn't mean that if you have a play in that it's not going to be great i think whenever you have a game or a setup where winner advances and the loser's season is done do you like the jays uh do i like the jays i love watching baseball do you like when the jays have those i don't particularly love the three wild card setup if you're asking me to be honest it's okay watch it and get excited oh i watch and get excited i just i thought the prior playoff formats are better
Starting point is 00:29:09 it's the more exclusive of the club i mean i don't know we're we're way more excited because you go one more NFL playoff games like kind of some shitty teams i'm like i don't watch it for sure it's tied to revenue the league loves this shit but i'm just looking at the teams beyond 10 in each conference i'm like well how do you differentiate between And like, is St. Louis that much different than the L.A. Kings? Yes. I think out west there is some, but again, St. Louis, who's behind St. Louis even? Calgary.
Starting point is 00:29:41 So Minnesota. They're too far. Yeah. And they might do it. And look, I'm the next year we look at it, it might be totally different. Like, man, if we only have the play in tournament, this would be way more exciting. And there have been years like that. Remember the year in the east where it was like Feb and it was like, oh, all the eight teams are pretty much locked.
Starting point is 00:29:57 What if you had a play in tournament where the east of west, had to combine. See, I'm almost for that. Right. In this day and age with charter flights and everything else. St. Louis, St. Louis, ain't far from. Why does the Stanley Cup final, the two best teams, why does it have to be East versus West?
Starting point is 00:30:15 What if the two best teams are Dallas and Colorado? Well, I'll tell you this. If you want to make it that we're getting ridiculous because it ain't going to have, but if you want it to be more realistic, I've done it. Travel in the East, you have a, way bigger advantage. A massive advantage over the Western Hawks. Like that's when you think about all of it, right?
Starting point is 00:30:36 And it's, well, who's the best team? And then you get to the final, but it's got to be East versus West. Well, it's. Yeah, like, why can't the Islanders and Rangers beat in the final? Why can't they meet in the final? Why does it have to be? You may have a team that comes out of the West or the East in any given year. You could float the one versus 16 thing.
Starting point is 00:30:55 I just think, man, if you got like a Vancouver, Florida in round one, that is just nightmare. It doesn't matter. Why is it? We had shitty travel. We went Detroit, San Jose and Florida. Yeah, Vancouver, Florida is way worse than all those. But yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:08 Well, it's, it's, travel's not fair. Again, you're taking the extreme and it could happen. Yeah. But yes, they don't care. Why is it okay for the Eastern Conference teams to not have to do that? Why is it okay for the Rangers to travel an hour? It's possible they don't leave their freaking. Their bed.
Starting point is 00:31:28 It's all of it, right? Like, Yeah, you could go Islanders, Devils and then like Philly in the East and you can sleep in your bed every night. You can sleep in your bed every night and Vancouver's bouncing all over. Like it's, there are reason for it.
Starting point is 00:31:39 And I don't think that changes anything. I don't think they'll ever do anything different. It's fine. I'm just, if you want the best of the best, that's how it should be. It won't change. No,
Starting point is 00:31:50 no. But I, but I think there's some rationale as to why it should be. It's just because of geography. That sets up, your final two teams are. Seems kind of silly. I get it when you had to take trains or buses or whatever,
Starting point is 00:32:06 but everyone has their own plane now. Wow, the problem becomes if you're playing one to 16 is how do you set up the regular season where it's fair that it's... It's never going to be. You can't say it up fair. There's people now talking about, oh, you've got to adjust salaries for tax climates.
Starting point is 00:32:22 And it's like, no, you don't. Just build good hockey teams. Florida had a great tax time forever and they were dug shit. The thing about life is it isn't fair. No, it sure isn't. Yeah, not fair. So how about that? Service Big Share is back.

Starting point is 00:33:25 $1,000. We were on the show yesterday. we were talking about origin brewing and Barnburner Blonde. Apparently, summer's coming or the warm weather's coming. It's going to be. Yesterday, it's a barn burner weather. Hey, this is beer. Let's go to the patio.
Starting point is 00:33:41 But anyway, you know what we said, if you're drinking barn burner blonde, you take a picture, take a video. Put on your show. We'll put you on the show. If you own an establishment, you got a pub, you got a store, and you're selling the barn burner blonde, we'll put you on the show. This came in yesterday. Come on.
Starting point is 00:33:58 Let's take a look. Hey, I'm Ashton from the Nottie Grape in Okotokes, and we are now carrying the Barnburner Blonde. So this is from the origin, malting and brewing up in Strathmore, collaborating with the Barn Burner podcast, which is, I mean, it's hilarious. It's the only one Mike and I agree on, but the beer itself is super light. It's easy drinking, you know, very crushable, only 4.2%. And it's now available at the naughty grade. Noddy grape and Okotokes pumping and firing out the barn.
Starting point is 00:34:34 Good little review as well. How about it? Crushable. And we're not lying. Delicious. Take a video, send a photo. On the show. On the show.
Starting point is 00:34:45 Notty grape. Far from the house. It really isn't that far from the house. It's a great podcast she was talking about. Yeah, I don't know which one she's talking about. It's the only one we can agree on. Yes, a lot of couples. That's what the show is.
Starting point is 00:35:05 It's about agreeing. and jumbaya really do enjoy it really do enjoy it what what's wrong i don't know is jack mad about something no oh good what do you want to talk about i tried to float a little champions league conversation but no one's interested in that so i'm not try it again fired out there p sg barcelona today one pm clear your throat first no are you feeling okay i'm worried No, my nose is a faucet today. You're dripping. Yeah, I know.
Starting point is 00:35:48 And I haven't even been around, so it's not on me. Can't blame you. I love the fact that you did get sick from your trip. Yes. Yeah. Yes. I would have been tombstoneed into a grave if I had returned home from WrestleMania sick.
Starting point is 00:36:02 Yeah. Truth. Truth. I think you should go right to the Pinder report. Figger? Ficker? You figure? Jack, how are you doing?
Starting point is 00:36:15 It's going to be better than that. this. I'm doing good. The chat's acting up today. What's going on in the chat? You arguing about fried sandwiches again? He's making five accounts and he just wants to piss people off. Oh, come on. This pop again. Well, you know that that's, you know you're excelling in life when you've got time to do that. Just troll the chat. Just show on their internet. It's probably highly successful. Probably Elon Musk sitting there. AI. I'll bet he's got an AI bot. Probably does some kind of bot. Musta has been caught with a few. They call those burner accounts? Remember when Brian Colangelo jumped to his own defense?
Starting point is 00:36:47 It's a normal size collar, bro, pick a new angle. That's right. Because you have the huge custom colors. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Just stay out of the comments. Yeah, it's comments. Is what you need to. Just don't ever.
Starting point is 00:36:59 Rhett, don't go into the comments. When you're doing all your social media work, just don't bother going out of the comments. Social media work. Yeah. I'm busy. You get a side hustle that I don't know about? Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:11 Yeah. It's number 44 only fans. Is that what it is? Yeah. Okay, we can do the paper. Let's do it. I said, new in-stock inventory on the ground over at Village Honda in there.
Starting point is 00:37:26 It's the CRV once again, see? This is why you need a CRV from Honda. No kidding. Unpredictable weather we've been telling you about. No matter the conditions, the CRV sits atop the pack among compact SUVs. You'll feel confident behind the wheel of your CRV. Honda's included a plethora of driver safety features.
Starting point is 00:37:43 They all come standard. Take one for a rip, Bud. Northwest Automol, online, VillageHonda.com and VillageHonda presents the Pinda Report. Just out for a rip, are you, bud? Are you, bud? Just out for a rip? Let's start with, well,
Starting point is 00:37:58 it was going so well, fellas. It was going so well. When the flames decided to do some winning, that green line is the top five. All of a sudden, they're ninth, and they could finish 10th if they did something so stupid as to collect three points in the next two games.
Starting point is 00:38:19 I'm looking at you, Kuzmiko. Settle down. Cadry? Whoa. Savvy, back to the original. Yeah, go back to the old power play. Yeah. Safe now.
Starting point is 00:38:30 Get the Rund home when you need them. Get the roon dog out there. Straight. Equal opportunity ice time tonight. Here's the details from Pike. Remember, fifth wasn't out of sight a week ago. But win here, when there. Seattle needs to earn more points than the flames.
Starting point is 00:38:47 That's not ideal. Seattle has two games left. The flames have two games left. And the flames have a tie break the wrong way. So you need to do less than the Cracken, who've got a tough schedule. So Seattle better get Cracketton. Seattle.
Starting point is 00:39:06 Seattle. Oh, Jack's doing the shopping. Whoa. All right. Shopping. Some rider, Jack. Let's give it a spin. Now the flames down a five,
Starting point is 00:39:18 percent chance. Stinking Ottawa, get out of here. God damn it. Yeah. Chicago. Yeah, it's like a league like they'll come there. And. And so, yeah. This could be no fun. No, this is not must see TV. Wherever. Now here, this is off-air conversation on air. They haven't announced the date or the time for the draft lottery yet. But it will be the second round, usually an intermission. of an Eastern game.
Starting point is 00:39:50 So let's call it six local. I think we should get anyone that's ever done at Afterburner or a Barn Burner, and we all live stream and feel the pain together. But here's the thing, because you know how they do it. They count up. They count up.
Starting point is 00:40:05 Yeah. So how far? 16, 15, 14, 13, 13, 12. And then it's like, uh-oh, the flames can be 11. If two teams behind them win, okay, they're not 11. Now you go to 10.
Starting point is 00:40:16 You're like, please don't be 10. Please don't be 10. and then if they're not there at whatever respective position we will know they will be drafting first or second overall you're ready for this disappointment we have to live it together Dean right
Starting point is 00:40:29 you love misery this is perfect a play in tournament would be boring us doing a live stream of that exciting I don't know that it was a one versus the other but they are going to do the draft lottery here's what we should do we're all going to get together depending on the
Starting point is 00:40:46 cost of alcohol we can make anything. I was going to say, we can empty this beer fridge, put a shift on that and watch the feel pain together. Because they just rattle through those bottom ones. At 16, and Buffalo. And Ottawa. They just kind of rattled through it. Okay, well, no movement
Starting point is 00:41:02 there. And then what is it? Who is the, the guy that blew it last year? You blow it! Going into the commercial break. Oh, so Columbus. Oh, they did have a screw up last year. We haven't done Columbus yet. Whoopsies. Kevin Weeks. That's who it was.
Starting point is 00:41:18 Weeks. It was weeksy. Weeks he's big as a house right now. Is he? You know what? Good on him. No. Why not?
Starting point is 00:41:26 No. Uh-oh. Insulation? Lots. Living in Manhattan. Great restaurants. This is what Frank was saying. It's not his fault.
Starting point is 00:41:34 It's not his fault. It's not your fault. So much good bread out there. They know how to do bread there. Kid me. You get one of those sandwich shops downstairs from us. If you had a New York style pizza place on this block? Well, they'd be closed because of
Starting point is 00:41:48 the construction, but. Oh, other than that. I went to walk through the construction to get there. See that article on the paper the other name? No. Yeah. Is there paper?
Starting point is 00:41:57 They still exist. Something like that. Crazy. What did they say? That's awesome. I'll share it. The old bakery down the street and the. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:05 They're not very happy. No kidding. Yeah. May have hurt the numbers. Yeah. Business down considerably. Oh. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:13 Which are the bike lanes open up, though, because spikers love bread. Oh, yeah. They pop in real quick. Grab a coffee on the. Yeah, so you get the little cup holder there? For guys like you and me that live in the South part, we'll just hop on our bikes and wheel in. Yeah, it's easy.
Starting point is 00:42:25 Up the river. It'd be a fun bike right up the river. Great. It would be sought. Come on, awesome. All right, let's move. Three stars of the week. We're announced yesterday.
Starting point is 00:42:36 Oh, yeah. Nossum, God, good company. Oh, you know. Hey, bud. Hey, buddy. Hey, pal. You know. It's pretty darn good.
Starting point is 00:42:44 Two points a game. Noss has been great. Roman Yosey's been. on a heater as they, well, they've been sensational the second half. And Austin Matthews, I mean, I guess if you like goal scoring, he's having an okay year.
Starting point is 00:42:57 Pass the puck. Puck hog. Puck hog. We have a hog later in the Pinder report, by the way. Oh, it's delicious. Yeah. A sweat hog? Some fat sweat hog.
Starting point is 00:43:08 85 points and 82 games for Romanios. One of my favorite lines ever. Sensational. Ever. And then it's this season. It was around this time of year. It was round one against the sharks. for the Oilers and some sweat hog.
Starting point is 00:43:21 Yeah. Yeah. And then, you have the guy in Anaheim as well, Burlives or whatever. That was a bad year for fans. Burr lives. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:30 Whatever the guy's name was. I tried to grab that. It's just the audio is so bad. It's from so long ago. Yeah. Just couldn't. Someone's peeled enough of VCR. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:39 Adjust the tracking. Some fat sweat hog is getting into the ring. Jess. Jesse. Yeah. Yes. That's Adrian Adonis. it's not some fat sweat hog.
Starting point is 00:43:51 Yes. Take a look at the Canucks. All right. Yeah, there's your third line center, Elias Lindholm. Good job. Bad a boy, Elias.
Starting point is 00:43:59 You can ever get your paws on a third line center. I mean, I'd give away a 40 goal guy first, the third. Boy, we just crush, hey, we just,
Starting point is 00:44:06 you know what? I don't mind crushing him because I think he pouted and he overplayed his hand and I don't think he was good about it. I don't think he's trying to be bad. It's just not gone well at all. He might not.
Starting point is 00:44:19 not be a player. Like he's at that age now where it'd be a little early, but it wouldn't be the first time a guy. And you know what? Slowed down real quick. Even Coleman kind of buried him after he left. He did. That's some guys that didn't want to be here. Zadora of for sure. Yeah. Yeah. Let's keep looking. How's your snooter?
Starting point is 00:44:35 Just leaking. Fawcett. Fawcett. Want a high five? Quinn Hughes, Phil Pironica, needs a contract. That's their top pair. Susie's healthy. He's missed a lot of time this year. He is with one of the two giraffe lobotomies. That's Tyler Myers, the dora of the other and the third pair at the end call.
Starting point is 00:44:53 You hate Tyler Myers. I don't know what Tyler Myers did to you because he's done nothing but try and play. Yeah. Plays every game. Perfect third pair defenseman. The city wasn't want to pick. Truba, Buffalo and Myers, all right shot tea. They just paid him to be a three.
Starting point is 00:45:10 That's not his fault. Nope. He's got a good agent. Oh. It's Matt's Dagenitis. You get a good agent. So you hate Myers. No. Because teams want to do. Because he took a good deal. No, again, I don't. I hate Myers. He's a really good third pair of defense.
Starting point is 00:45:25 You called him a draft lobotomy? When he and Zadora, I play together. That's the giraffe lobotomy pair because it's about 13 feet of poor decision making, typically. You saw Zadarov here, right? Yeah. Is Myers at that level? I would put Myers. Not this year, but he has.
Starting point is 00:45:45 Myers is just a big. Maybe underachieving for. where he was drafted, but just the big ice-chewing defenseman. You want to talk big ice-chewing defensemen? Yeah, I do. This draft class is locked and loaded full of them and NHL Central Scouting
Starting point is 00:46:02 released their final rankings for the NHL draft. This morning. Playoffs are even over in junior hockey. Well, the teams will continue to adjust, but for the sake of central scouting, this is what we're looking at. Now, is it Selyev or Siliyev? I don't know, but he's
Starting point is 00:46:18 kind of got the old I'm 6-7 and I'm playing in the K, which are really impressive things to do at the age of 17? Monster. Huge. Yeah, this guy's a monster. Demadov's a forward that has piled up some stupid numbers in the junior league there. And then, yeah, I mean, there's a lot of D. You see 4D in the top eight out of Europe?
Starting point is 00:46:39 Would that be Sammy Hellenius' kid, you suppose? I don't know if it's Sammy. Let's check. And then the name we're all looking for, let's go to the North American side. You can find, scroll and find him, Brett. Where is he? Who? What do you mean who?
Starting point is 00:46:51 He's too far away from the screen. I can't see this. Now, who would you be interested in the North American skaters right in this? Well, I'm looking at the guy with the Tigers jersey on. I'm like, who the hell is that? Lidstrom. He's scored at the tour at pace, but an injury short in the season. A monster.
Starting point is 00:47:07 I think already over 200 pounds at 6.3 or 4. And there is T. Jiginla at 9 in North America. Seems low. See, if I were at home, I could play the thing. But I'm not at home. I'm here. What thing? Iggy,
Starting point is 00:47:22 woo, woo, woo, no. Well, what else did you play? What's his ranking? Nine. Oh, you guys keep wanting me to come in here. I mean, you could take that thing. We do miss a lot when you are here.
Starting point is 00:47:37 I could have like fart noises and play. Still do that here. Nine. Yeah, Teesh up to nine. Now again, that's North American. So then you factor in the international slash European skaters.
Starting point is 00:47:49 Squarsh them together. If, Central scouting, it probably comes in at sort of like 12 to 50. Yeah, which is where... Yeah, I think. Blood, you know, the blood, the blood, the blood that runs through his vein. There's some pedigree there. Could we go back to the North American skaters there real quick just because we focused on Teage immediately.
Starting point is 00:48:08 But there's a lot of really good players. A lot of really good players. A lot of good players. Until they're not. Yeah, that's correct. But as of today, all the information we have, Russian, sorry, Bell Russian defense when playing at Michigan State. Lefshunov's had a monster year.
Starting point is 00:48:25 Zeev Bouillon, there's a name for you. D.U. National champ. And Perrick and Dickinson, the two D-Men and the O, that you like this Dickinson kid, right? I've heard good things about old Sammy Dickinson. Also, no, Berkeley Caton has piled up massive, massive numbers.
Starting point is 00:48:42 The question is, will he be a center at the next level? Can he be like a Suzuki point-sized centerman, or is he slide to the wing? And if so, where does that put him? I don't know. Interesting. And they've got Teage listed at center, despite I'm not playing center this year. That's odd. Weird.
Starting point is 00:48:57 Okay. We'll move. Let's go. See, the thing is, again, is listed as a centerman everywhere. He said forwarded in a lot of places. He's center on the Western Hockey League website. He's center there. He's playing the wing.
Starting point is 00:49:12 So I don't know. I mean, I don't. I'm just texting. I'm going to ask. I know. You should text his head. Like, is he the middle of? I texted.
Starting point is 00:49:19 Like, how many of your viewing says Teage played center ice? zero. Okay. Yeah. So there's some, you know, information. There's just a breakdown somewhere along the line. Could he be a center?
Starting point is 00:49:33 I don't know. Maybe. Oh, boy. Let's go to changes in Buffalo, Rhett. This is your opportunity. Finally, we've had a good time on the podcast with you, but it's time for change.
Starting point is 00:49:44 Rett's timing is shit, hey? Is it? He's been back in town for two days or whatever it is. Fire the coach in Buffalo. You're in Buffalo all season. I'm packing my shit. nothing happened hey last year you're in buffalo sutter out trilling out you come back here and he didn't even answer my call i know so here is uh let's stay with chris johnson here 13 year playoff drought seven
Starting point is 00:50:05 head coaches rough see ya roleston see ya nolan gone bilesman nohousley n uh cruger see ya granato see you i don't remember ron ralston yeah it was very short feels interim me very short and rough had just been there for 20 years So I mean, let's go back. Let's take roughs, how long rough was there, which would be, so in 30 years. I was going to say, so that's 13, which would be the same as 20. And he had 25. He had at least seven, I think he was 17 or 18 years.
Starting point is 00:50:38 So in 31 years, they've had seven coaches. So it's like when you compare the Steelers coaching to other teams. This is just that Chris Johnson trying to make things look bad. There's more. Justin Bourne watched him a bit and had this to say. Casey Middlestat got traded. Oh, sorry, so this is the money extension just kicking in. So that's $8 million to not work.
Starting point is 00:50:59 How do you get some of that, Redd? Jesus. Great work if you can get it. What's your move if you've got two years to make $8 million? And maybe you want to get into coaching afterwards, but you certainly don't have to rush and you want to keep collecting. Are you just straight to an island right now? Or what are you doing?
Starting point is 00:51:11 I think so, yeah. Feet in the sand. There's real good fishing out of Costa Rica right now. Is that right? Oh, yeah. Really good. Part of those blues. People live longer.
Starting point is 00:51:21 There's a big Marlin tournament coming up. Which early March May? What tournament? Marlon. Marlon. Oh, a fishing tournament. Yeah. Geez.
Starting point is 00:51:31 I'd love to go fish. The most scathing review I heard of the Sabres. The season came from Casey Middlestad. This is Justin Bourne tweeting. We went to Colorado and simply said, boy, they practice hard here. My question is, are they going to clean house? It was a video coach and assistant and John Granato. The GM's only been a couple years in.
Starting point is 00:51:52 I like some of things he's done. What else would there be to do? Are there more coaches you would want to see? Well, how do you know? I mean, and I guess if you bring it in a new coach, he's going to have some say, who sticks around. Because wasn't Granato, the interim, who then took over the head job?
Starting point is 00:52:08 He's had some success. It's just been a really bad year. They've not looked good at all. And they had expectations this year. Last year they had that incredible run, Cage, I'll flirt with 50. Like, I guess I'm just thinking in terms of Kevin Adams. he was there before Adams and Adams kept him.
Starting point is 00:52:23 It's not really an Adams higher. I believe that's correct. Right. So this would be his opportunity to go and get his guy in theory, although that guy's got to want to come to Buffalo. It's a good young team. It's position. I agree.
Starting point is 00:52:35 With coaching, there's 32. Yeah. I mean, there are certain guys that can have some say, but a lot of guys that would be dying. Like Craig Barubi feels like a fit, but he feels like a fit in every opening, doesn't he?
Starting point is 00:52:45 Yeah, he's not going to. No. I feel like, I don't think so because I think that, Pagula learned too that you try to to overpay to get a guy that's not like remember he was in on Babcock
Starting point is 00:52:54 Yeah, yeah We're gonna pay the buzzer They settled for Bilesmouth I should have got on Baccock Yeah I mean Joel Quinville's popped his head out of the sand I don't I hadn't go to Buffalo No no he wouldn't
Starting point is 00:53:09 And again we're waiting for Ottawa And there'll be some teams that you know Like I think L.A. probably is going to solidify and not be Hillier Smith Don't Don't just push under the rug that 4 million either. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:53:24 Right? Like that, like if somebody told me, Ryan Huska was the 32nd highest paid coach in the NHL, I'd be like, yeah, probably because Sutter is making four. He's not in the top 10.
Starting point is 00:53:34 I can guarantee you that. Yeah, and that's what they did with Glenn Gulletson when they were paying Bob Hartley, and then when they got rid of Bill Peters, that's what they did with the Jeff Ward. Like, if you're paying a guy,
Starting point is 00:53:46 a ton of dough to not coach, you often won't have a lot of budget. Here's the question I have. How was Don Granado worth four? I was just going to say, could we hear those numbers again? That kind of slid under the radar too. It's like, okay, well, yeah, coach got fired, so he's going to continue to get paid. What was the term and the dollar on the dollar?
Starting point is 00:54:04 A two-year extension at $4 million each year. And that's basically what Sutter signed as well. What the age? Yeah, what has Don Granado done to? Well, it looked like he turned around last year, but he clearly hadn't. And I don't know why teams are so afraid to run a coach in what he used to call lame duck years. It's very commonplace now. and like if the flames had done that with Daryl, like, God, you'd be in a way bar spot.
Starting point is 00:54:26 Mr. Edwards would have to say it to bunch of dough. And then so would Mr. Pagula have. So I think there used to be this notion that, oh, my goodness, if their coach is in his walk here, like, lame duck, you can't have it. And it's like, no, I think you can absolutely have it. I'd be trading it like a free agency. I'd be saying, here's your chance to really wow me and get your bag. And I get why coaches would want it. Sure.
Starting point is 00:54:46 If I'm the coach, I've got my agent or whoever does my negotiation, I'd have them in the GM or president's ear saying you better get I'm still I want to go back not to interrupt you but Pinder's take on this is too simple because it looked like he'd turned things around yesterday that's how he jumped into four million four million we haven't played a playoff
Starting point is 00:55:04 game didn't make the playoffs yeah that's a hell of an agent again wow that's kind of your going rate for what I would call a top 10 how good were they last year they were they missed the fucking playoffs that's how good and Tage Thompson was the story of the league for a couple months
Starting point is 00:55:22 at least. It had felt like they'd turn it around, but the only caveat was that, look at their division. They still have Boston, Florida, Tampa, Toronto. That doesn't change next change. And so that was sort of the like, wow, they could make it next to then. You're like, ah, it's still, that's a shitty division to be bad. And like,
Starting point is 00:55:38 you're not, you've got to pass some really good teams if you're going to get in the playoffs. I'd be four million. Wow. Anyway, good for him. And no real head coaching experience prior. He's done a lot in American.
Starting point is 00:55:55 It was clearly not his, it would have been his third contract there. Yeah. So he's an interim guy. He gets a two or three year deal. And then with a year left, they give him this. Because I'm thinking of guy,
Starting point is 00:56:04 remember Alan Vino signed the deal. He got gas, but he had been a head coach for a long time. Stan, like a final team. Like this is, it's not even, that's what I'm getting at is.
Starting point is 00:56:12 Four million sounds like a guy. Darrell signed for four million dollars. And Darrell's got the pedigree. He's got two Stanley Cups and probably a Hall of Fame coaching career. Yeah, I agree. Yeah, if you want just the published salaries, like Jim Montgomery's only making two, and he left Dallas under weird circumstances.
Starting point is 00:56:28 Jim had to come back and resurrect his name. Peter DeBore in Dallas, four and a quarter, three years. That's significant money. Again, doesn't seem like Don Granato's class. That's a tear above Mr. Undefeated in Game Sevens. Paul Reese, Maurice, make it 3.9. So four is kind of like your top 10, you're an alpha coach and all that Don was there. No.
Starting point is 00:56:46 Three million for Marty San Luis. That feels like an overpaid. Peter Laviolet 4.9 in New York. What does Brindamore make? It's not published because it's Carolina. Because I was curious, right? Well respected coach, 50 wins, three years running, but that coach, that relationship with the owner there. I wonder what he makes.
Starting point is 00:57:04 It seems like whenever his deal comes up, he's got to go to bat for his staff, for everybody to get paid. So Jackson like this, Torterella makes four a year, three year deal. Guess what Mike Sullivan makes and his new year, his new deal that kicks in next year. six. 5.5 for three years. At least he has something. Solomon to the bank, not to the son. He's got a, he's got a cop.
Starting point is 00:57:30 He's got cups and success behind his name. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, I'm not saying he's not worth it. It's just it looked like a team that needed a coaching change this year at times. I think that that, the Red and I are still stuck on the how did Granado get? No, I know. None of these are in the same category. And Bruce Cassidy, four and a half a year for four years in Vegas.
Starting point is 00:57:48 Those are the only guys around four that is published. There was a big push. One of these things ain't like the other ones. Coaches a whole bunch of money and get him paid. And remember Babcock's, we've been underpaid forever. I'm going to set the standard, blah, blah, blah.
Starting point is 00:58:00 And he did. He has, but is it going to come back a little bit? Because I would just offer less term, yeah. Yeah. You want four million? Sure, two year deal. And don't sign it a year before you get there.
Starting point is 00:58:14 Four. Shufflight just isn't long enough, right? What did Babs have an eight-year deal? That's just insane. Six years, yeah. Like what? Which coach lasts that long?
Starting point is 00:58:24 Did you do it for $4 million? I would. Well, how about three? I think I will. Okay. But you're in the West. You're going to have to travel more than you. No, no, we're talking.
Starting point is 00:58:32 I'm talking, go back to Buffalo. That's assume Pagula is like, I'm paying this coach not to coach. Well, I'm only going to go a million and a half, two million on this next coach. I'll do a one year deal, half a mill.
Starting point is 00:58:43 Half. Oh, the coach is going to be pissed. Jack, could we get to Terry Pigoole on the phone? I got to establish myself. I got to show. You got a podcast show? I have to show. Would you still do the show when they hire you?
Starting point is 00:58:55 I would have to because it wouldn't make enough money. Now, are you still suspended by the junior saver, the league or whatever? Did you get that email thing all straightened out? You can coach again? You don't want that hanging over here. I know. Terry Pagula comes calling. You know, Rhett, we're really interested in bringing you in, but says here something
Starting point is 00:59:11 about the whoop-to-do tournament in Rochester. You flew off a handle. It was poured your on, wasn't it? wasn't me. Boy, boys were wound up. Very disappointed with the behavior of this Buffalo Jr. Port Hero.
Starting point is 00:59:25 All right, that's the kind of, that's what we want out of our Yes, senior savers club. That's what they need. Rasmus Dahlene pops his shoulder out, game one fighting. Damn it, Red. No, they have catered to a bunch of guys that are soft. Okay, so you're going to go in there. You're going to be the coach.
Starting point is 00:59:42 Who are you bringing? Me and Ryan, what are we going? No, I'm not. Video. I don't want you on the bench. I kind of want to be in the bench. Your legs are going to get sore all like like jelly. You remember when Jell and I was on the bench?
Starting point is 00:59:53 Just kind of what are you going to get her going boys? Hey, let's get her going. Concessions. Oh. Come on, Red. I just got a cooking show. What's wrong? You're going to have to interview.
Starting point is 01:00:05 You're going to have to. Oh, she's no favor. I'm not just going to hand it up. Jeez. It's rough. Who's on your staff? I got to check my. budgets like decaprio having to read a script to get a gig i know what i know what i know what i would
Starting point is 01:00:19 do and what adams should have done and what i would go and get the bet i would go get vignon or uh quenville and say pay up pay me i'll take sure i'll have the title and i'll make half a mill and you pay him too to be my assistant because he knows what he's doing right i'll learn a associate coach i'll learn a lot from this guy there you go maybe babbs could be your assistant because i'm a team guy i'm about having success for the team it's not about oh ret could get a four million dollar contract it's not about you don't give a shit it's about the team because we're going to win a stanley cup and then mr coo pooh that's right in with his billions and just dump up it in the rink mr cabuga is going to make us all rich
Starting point is 01:01:03 it's going to be like one of those place to meet you mr cabugga in the world win thing with the dollar bill's yeah yeah you got three minutes in here and they're hondoes Thanks, Mr. Bluga. We love you. Let's go to the Eastern Playoff Chase. You saw it earlier. Shane Gostis Bears hops. Save the wings.
Starting point is 01:01:26 I'm on a roll here. I think that that would be, that's my salary. Once a week, I get two minutes in the whirlwind of cash. So what bills? American hundreds? What do we do?
Starting point is 01:01:37 It's got to be Hondas. American hundos. Usually it's direct deposit into your checking. This is Rhett going into the hurricane, of hundos to grab his minute you sticking them into your g string i could just see him he's like god damn we had a big win last night i'm hung over his shit oh fucking shoulder oh god his damn shoulders cost to me 20 grand i had like eight of them and then i dropped my shoulder shit hundred fuck wings and Shane goss despair yeah needed to stay alive they did that impressive
Starting point is 01:02:14 It wasn't for a while. Yeah, and that boy, if you could just flip it two inches higher, you might win the game there. Lane Hudson, everyone in Montreal, very excited about him. He's NHL debut last night, 20 plus minutes. American kid, NTDP? He was the one trying to break up that two-on-one and overtime. Yeah. Busting back there.
Starting point is 01:02:37 Either way, the wings win. They still aren't in. Washington won as well, Pittsburgh one as well, and we might get the chaos extended. for one more night beyond tonight. There's your look at it as it stands. One of those teams gets in, just one. Philly's still alive. Torts, save your best speech ever for tonight, buddy.
Starting point is 01:02:56 It's hard when you get to this point of the, and you think about a point. Oh, you go back over the season. A point. You think about a gindlin night for the penguins here? Yeah, they had it. Just don't completely soil yourself in the last minute or something.
Starting point is 01:03:14 and find a point somewhere. Yeah. Well, and they blew that lead against Detroit earlier. They gave Detroit the loser point when they played, when Pittsburgh played them, what, a week ago, Jack? It's been a great season in most cities, or at least for the observer. And by the way,
Starting point is 01:03:29 look at the point totals here. Remember when we used to tell you about 95 points it gets you in? That's got to be one of the lowest in. Yeah, big time. It's the turtle derby for sure. But good hockey still left to, we'll see who gets in. And then on the flip side, saw, and I should have grabbed it, but I saw a tweet yesterday, a list of the players who would
Starting point is 01:03:49 have won the Art Ross in 2015. Oh, with their point totals from this year. There's about 30 guys. Jamie Ben won it with 87 points one year. Yeah, Jamie Ben, I think that was the year Ben won it. And it's, yeah, it's about 25, 30, like, different league. Tons of guys that would be, because I looked this morning, what was it, Panarin hit 140. He's the fourth guy to hit 140 points. No one's had 100 helpers in the league for ages. Connor hit it last night. You're like, wow, what a feat. When will we see it next?
Starting point is 01:04:19 Maybe on Wednesday. Yeah, maybe on Wednesday. It's one assist to get to 100. Crazy. Tonight, let's look at the games. And Max Chaos. I think Elliot was tweeting about Max Chaos. If you're a team chaos,
Starting point is 01:04:32 there's some games to talk about tonight. You need Philly to beat Washington, 5 o'clock start. You need a result from Montreal against Detroit. Man, that's a big Washington, Phil. Isn't it huge? And then Pittsburgh's game tomorrow against the Islanders who are already in and sealed would be the win and you're in. And that would be the, if we could string this at the most high leverage games possible between now and the end of the year, that's how it has to go. Now, I have a hard time keeping up with Jack and his strategies for how this work.
Starting point is 01:04:59 So he shits on the penguins so that they play well or he abandoned all hope. He won last night. He has no hope now because if he did, they'll lose. Okay. So Jack, how do you feel about tonight? What's going to happen here with these games? I feel good about Philly. Like I think they come out.
Starting point is 01:05:15 Yeah, I think they beat Washington. The Montreal, Detroit thing, I don't know. I feel like yesterday was the one they had to have. They're up three. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:05:26 I don't feel good. Like I said, for a week, it's over. It's beautiful. Something's just that unbridled enthusiasm, the roller coaster. There it is.
Starting point is 01:05:39 Yeah, that's a tough one. Clinch. Yeah, clench hard there, pal. Tough. We're all with you. W.H. You want the update right here it is. Buckle up. We got, well, a few series that aren't that close.
Starting point is 01:05:53 Look at Portland's up three rip on Everett. Cougars up two rip on Colonna, heading back to the Okinawagon. And the blade's been a wagon. They dusted off red deer a couple times as these scenes switches in central Alberta. Maybe we should go up to red deer. Roads look great.
Starting point is 01:06:09 Why not? That's a good point. It's a little snowy. Now, is it at Billy Bobbs? Is that Tuesday or Wednesday night? Every night. Well, no, they do. I'm not sure that Billy Bob's.
Starting point is 01:06:18 What, T-shirt once a week? Can't remember. Tie that in with it. I'll look for you, D. Thanks. So you guys don't go to Flames games, but you're going to Red Deer? What t-shirt night? What are you talking about?
Starting point is 01:06:34 Yeah, come on. Daniel Jones? What was I looking at? Weirdo. Billy bombs. Daniel Jones, weirdo, quarterback giants. Yeah. Look at this.
Starting point is 01:06:46 Kind of just start off with the obvious. How are you doing in your rehab and where do you think stand? Rehab's going well. Making good progress coming along. Obviously, spent a lot of time with the trainers here and shrink staff. So I feel like things are going well. And yeah, so I'm, yeah, I'm coming along well. Hey, Daniel, just a build on that.
Starting point is 01:07:10 Have they given you a target date? The eyes are just dinner plates here. That's the look of a man who shit himself right before the press conference started. This was you on the Christmas show. This is him trying to sneak out a fart, shat himself, and it's like, oh my, OMG.
Starting point is 01:07:32 I'm sitting in my own fecal matter. Hi, Daniel. Wondering about the season. Let's go check in on our boy. And none of you act like you haven't been there. We know you've been. Tim Dot Nagy! Let's go to Tim.
Starting point is 01:07:49 67. Going a blackjack and betting 10 cents every Instagram follow. I've got coming in off a two-day hiatus. There are 780,000 of you in here now, so a $78,000 bet. Coming right up. All righty, ladies and gentlemen, day 67. I don't love the look of our dealer. Kind of bloke who looks like he'd use.
Starting point is 01:08:06 iron covers on the golf course says a lot about them the adventures of tinted merch gets a run three's disgusting 12 plays a jack oh can we pull one off again we got away with one before the hiatus and we are looking to escape an absolute hiding here go low for me take a seven eight or nine please give him a nine seven seven so you're telling me there's a chance 19 plays a jack seven eight nine on his in now would get the job done return sir with a big fucking win. Go low.
Starting point is 01:08:39 Yes. Yes. Fucking yes. We've scraped in. It doesn't matter an inch or mile. Vin Diesel said it best. It's a W. Regardless.
Starting point is 01:08:51 And I will see you tomorrow. After the adventures of 1010 secured a W when we'll be bidding even more. He just doesn't lose. I, I, it's so great. 12 against the Jack. I was nervous.
Starting point is 01:09:04 12 against the Jack. You're cooked. Damn. Jack, how's he doing this? I don't know. Every hand he does gets a little more ridiculous. I'm starting to...
Starting point is 01:09:15 Are you doubting that it's legit? What have the last three been? He's had like 12, 13, and then he hits like a low card. Four, four, four. Yeah, 21, didn't he have the one where it was... He just had 20. Didn't he get dealt a pair of face cards?
Starting point is 01:09:34 I feel like he's about four of his last five. I've yet to see him lose two in a row. He has not lost two in a row. Which, that's not me at the black truck table. I don't know. Listen, we're, Jack,
Starting point is 01:09:43 God, like, don't bring your negative tips. I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, to the show, Jack.
Starting point is 01:09:48 Stating facts, I've got no problem with Jack. If there's going to be a sour pussy here, it's going to be me, all right? Whoa. Like, I'm,
Starting point is 01:09:55 stay in your turf. I'm the, I'm the sour prick in the room. Okay? We don't need two of us. It's just a penguin's stress talking. Sorry. So,
Starting point is 01:10:04 what was 150, some thousand win there in your pocket. 156. Out of boy, Tim. Not a boy, Timmy! This is not the time to start. Don't remember. Don't remember.
Starting point is 01:10:16 Don't forget where you broke the media curse. Right in that seat over there. Happy guy. That's where you were. Someone didn't know about Diet Coke and Mentos, but they found out the hard way. It was another challenge, right? I've had several requests to do this one.
Starting point is 01:10:33 I'm going to give it a shot today. I was bet $200 I couldn't drink it. Anyway, we got Diet Coke Mentos. Ah, I don't know how to put it in there, but we're going to try it like it's right there. We got us a submit to like here. We go over the hot. Idiot. I bet he's going to put it in there.
Starting point is 01:10:49 I don't know. How about that? Oh, it did. Oh, listen, here we got. You ready for this right here? Okay, we got to put three. Three. Okay, I don't know what to do here.
Starting point is 01:11:00 Oh. That does. Have you ever done the Diet Coke? Is he? That's some serious shit. Is he without legs? I don't know. He looks like he's sitting cross-legged, but I, yeah.
Starting point is 01:11:25 I was sort of more focused on the Diet Coke fountain that he launched there. Yeah, the Diet Coke or the, the, I just have to be diet. I think diet is soft drink Mentos is kind of the thing, right? I think there's something in the diet version that is part of the chemical reaction. This is going to be another great off-season show. We're going to have to have a science. Or if we. Barn burner, science fair.
Starting point is 01:11:55 Yes, yeah, totally science fair. And if we have to move out of here, we go to a different studio, the day before our lease ends, we'll do that here. Otherwise, outside. Yeah. There's no room to do anything outside. It's construction. It's not safe.
Starting point is 01:12:10 It's going to be Beverly Hills, I'm sure, anytime now. I'm just waiting. But it looks good so far. Really good, yeah. It's good mud. Like, my kids haven't lost her shoes in the mud before. And I'm thinking about bringing memories, right?
Starting point is 01:12:20 Yeah. Yeah. When we were kids, get a boater. If something common, so good. Yeah. Uh,
Starting point is 01:12:27 not sure how this started, but look how it ends. Got a boar. Now, keep reading about these wild boars in the States. That's true. That's a good, he's a little.
Starting point is 01:12:43 Is he laughing? So was he run the dude up the tree? Is that what's happened? Yeah. No, he's just going to, it's not true. Nice friend.
Starting point is 01:12:49 you're going to help me? No, I'm going to get a video. I'll roll tape. That is something you have to remember on these viral clips. What's the camera person doing? Yeah. That was not a trail cam that caught that one. No, it was not.
Starting point is 01:13:04 Is it still a thing in Saskatchew? Oh, yeah. Still, hey? Very hard to get rid of. And they get smarter. Now, guns are still legal in places where bores are? Like, are they that hard to get rid of? You couldn't.
Starting point is 01:13:18 In Texas? you can go shoot them from a helicopter as many as you want forever. What does that cost? I'm into that. No, that's a thing. Honestly, I think that's a thing that they're running a while. The whole thing is they get more wise as they avoid death so that they're not going to be trapped a similar way again. So bars are like the final boss.
Starting point is 01:13:38 They're like the final boss to give you the people's elbow. That's right. Croc one. Let's go to it. You know when we have crock one that also means to. So you're going to check the pond before you go fishing, right? And that is, look at the pace and size of that, my God. That looks like a tepid pond with nothing in it.
Starting point is 01:14:00 I still feel like at some point we are going to exhaust the Internet of Crocodile videos. I keep waiting for it, but because it's two, three a day. The more I doubt, the more I find is the irony of it all. That's a hind quarter that that thing just evaporated. It hammered it like a tic-tac. This one is called Croc Kayak Not the position you want to be on the Nile Are they scaring it away or is this some
Starting point is 01:14:31 I would worry Kayak is going to raft together here stick together Strength of numbers Oh boy Fuck up Ozzy? I saw that for me Sorry, it's okay?
Starting point is 01:14:50 That's all good, dude, nice, well, Jesus. Fuck, that was a big cut. Whoa! Fuck you. Just another country, Dean, where it's okay. Fuck, I wish I've hit him hard on, man. That was a fucking bad crock that, man. There it is, there it is.
Starting point is 01:15:05 It's like 10 o'clock to you now. Yeah, that's a better question. Ten o'clock, get out of there. What are you doing? Is it that important that you ride these rapids? Shout out to him for standing their ground. to them for standing their ground and fighting off the crocodile. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:15:21 I just never understood her. Yeah. Thumbs up here. Now, are you warming up a little to these animals? The more you see and learn about them. Oh, I can't wait to get one for a pet. Yeah. No, not at all.

Starting point is 01:16:00 That guy died there, right? I'm just glad you're happy, Dean. You look happy there. Whatever pets keep you right state of mind. You can get it off the screen now, Jay. Those big snakes. Village on a Pinderport. Are we done?
Starting point is 01:16:26 That's how we go out with Dean and his pets. Village haunt, a huge selection of used vehicles, makes all models, all budgets, over 90 units on site. I grab this here, just to fill for me. Coming up after the tail end of the program, Alex Halat is going to join us from Chestermear, where the hockey marathon for the kids is ongoing. Started this thing back in 2012, Rhett.
Starting point is 01:17:32 other year they've done it. 262 hours straight of hockey. That is 11 days. The fellows are operating about 14 to 18 hours on the ice a day. Injuries are mounting. They're done at 5 p.m. and they're trying to reach their goal of, I believe,
Starting point is 01:17:48 a million and a half raised for the Alberta Children's Hospital and kids cancer fundraising, which is incredible. These guys are warriors. So we'll hear from Alex at the end of the program. That's that fulfilling. Very good. Very good. So hockey marathon.com for more.
Starting point is 01:18:05 There it is. We were talking about Billy Bob's conflicting reports. Yeah. Jared says Billy Bob's is ruined. Now called long riders. Yeah. Steener. Sad to hear.
Starting point is 01:18:15 And now this is Billy Bob's is still open. And maybe he means the bar, but maybe it's under a different name. We need to do some reconnaissance here. Starting point is 01:19:17 when playoffs were coming and it was. I had the photos pop up today, you know, the old, this many years ago. Yeah, yeah, yeah. What are we doing? running into the street winning tickets where are we going for the game who's what's remember casey was running that contest yeah man seven years since april 17th yeah outside dome looks busy 17 young boys at the game yeah well and it's it's less than two years ago
Starting point is 01:19:48 those scenes with the tens of thousands of peoples in the red lot remember when it blew over going crazy yeah that storm came through ooh mama Yeah. Yeah. It feels like longer than two years ago in many ways, because there's three, five, three forwards, two defensemen and a goalie left from then. Is that what it is? That's it.
Starting point is 01:20:12 Yeah. You got the magic panty back on Coleman, or left from that era and Shillington Anderson. Marks from the goalie. Everyone else on that team that was in the Battle of Alberta is gone. No, Walt. But you can, now you can still enjoy. You got Chuck's going to be in the playoffs.
Starting point is 01:20:27 Sam Bennett. Sean Monaghan, Mark Giordano. Toff. Tos Foley? Tough. There's a lot of guys that used to play here that'll be in. Tannave. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:20:39 Lindholm, a third check in line role, yeah. Both L.A. goalies? Yeah. We're definitely cheering for them, right? Definitely cheering for them. If they play, Eminton, you're goddamn right. A little less for Derek Ryan. Not really cheering for him at all, actually.
Starting point is 01:20:53 He can go. Yeah, he can beat it. He can beat it. So that's what it's going to be, I guess. Garnet Hathaway. Could he get in with Philly? Do you a miracle? I hope not, right, Jack?
Starting point is 01:21:07 Yeah. That's what we're saying. You got a former flame on the penguins, anyone? He's good, or one. Jankowski somewhere. Jankowski's in Preds, he's going to make the playoffs. A lot of, yeah.
Starting point is 01:21:21 You think anybody does that? A Flames fan, they find. I don't know. Maybe if you have our favorite, but like to cheer for all of them, no. Are you really going to cheer for Florida because you have a Kachukchurz if you're the biggest Kachuk fan ever maybe Kachman.
Starting point is 01:21:34 I know one got it mature for bad. And we're forgetting about Ryan Lombard, former flame. Oh, and maybe that's. Did he reach like five career games at the Flames? You definitely played a lot in Stockton. Good question. It's a good question. I remember he played for sure.
Starting point is 01:21:47 We saw him here. And look at this. Redeem Zahornah. Pittsburgh. There you go. There's your flames connection. Me so Zahornah. That's right.

Starting point is 01:23:39 No, it's, phone broke. I'm not going to tell you who or what. Yeah. But it is a, it's something that I'm getting an email for, so it's a place that I've been. It's a place of business. Ah. And they have sent out a mass email to all customers, apparently. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:24:01 Hello, it's got my name in there. What's your name? Ferguson. We will be requesting all customers remove their shoes slash footwear upon entering. This policy is in place for safety reasons and to keep the place clean. We will be enforcing this policy year round. Please feel free to bring. bring a pair of socks with you to your appointment, especially during the summer.
Starting point is 01:24:35 We appreciate your cooperation and understand. I'm like good sweaty socks. Keep things clean. No shoes for you. That's what they just said. Well, I could see it a day like today. Hey, you can't be wearing. Even in the summer though, right?
Starting point is 01:24:49 That seems always. What the Americans do? They never take the shoes on. Never, ever. That's weird. Horgon knows. Curb your enthusiasm. Remember Larry?
Starting point is 01:24:57 It's not taking a shoes on. Even in Ontario, I noticed that. You know, she yelled out of it. We're in the shoes. That was with the porn guy, right? Oh, boy. Who was better call Saul? What was his name in real life?
Starting point is 01:25:08 Oh. He was the porn, the porn actor. And I think went to his house and Larry broke a lamp or something. She don't get the fucking shoes in my house. Oh, I love curb. Gurb. I don't even know what else to talk about with today. Well, we've got to go.
Starting point is 01:25:28 We got a big meeting today. Yeah, why did you push it off? Because I got to drop that kid off somewhere. Oh, I. I see. The wheels in motion. Because that's usually the one when we got to lunch. So let's,
Starting point is 01:25:37 I want to get ready to eat. How about 1230? He's like, oh, about 1245. Wait, what do you think he's doing something nice. He orders a bunch of appetizers for the table.
Starting point is 01:25:45 But then you realize those are his appetizers. Yeah, he does one of these. Thank you. That's mine. That's an entire tray of nachos and buffalo chicken dip. Yeah. And wings.
Starting point is 01:25:56 Geez. Yeah. He's like, uh-huh. And what are you going to have today? I don't know, start to get it into your headspace. Think about,
Starting point is 01:26:02 I think there's a meatball on the appetizer. Because I was thinking about it. I also like fish and chips, but I don't know if I'm going to do fish and chips. Puts me down. Yeah. Guys, it's a soup day.
Starting point is 01:26:14 Just look outside. I don't know. They're hitting miss with soups. They get a little too funky with soup sometimes over there. Keep it simple, folks. You've got a beat porcupine. Yeah, we've got a cold gazpach.
Starting point is 01:26:27 No. Who the hell orders cold chicken soup? We got a, Hemorrhoid cactus Bisk. No thanks. Don't need the hemorrhoid cactus Bisk, please. Hard to go wrong with the steak sandwich
Starting point is 01:26:41 unless it's really bad. Steak sandwich is a very safe order. If you're ordering it well done, then yeah, you can mess that thing. But if you're in the medium rare, they're not generally going to overcook it so bad you can't eat it. Well, and if you're cooking a well done steak. Give your head a shake.
Starting point is 01:26:57 Take a walkout, long walk off, walk off short period. what he said. Yep. You tell them, Dana. That's right. I want to tell you
Starting point is 01:27:06 about NordVPN. Remember when you wrote a new tagline for them? I got it. Do you remember? Safe and your stuff? Safeng up your stuff? Safen up your stuff. Again, not the official.
Starting point is 01:27:17 That's not the NordVPN tagline at all. No. But for guys like us, our whole lives, I think you said this when we were talking about it because we're talking about NordVPN and your online privacy and security.
Starting point is 01:27:32 There'll be some time. Can we just get your email address? Oh, gee, I'm not sure I want to give that up. It's out there. Rather not. They can get it if they want. Really? You think 7-Eleven or whatever is?
Starting point is 01:27:47 You need my email address? Oh, in the news, 7-Eleven had a huge data breach with email. Oh, fuck, I knew it. It's out there. Your stuff is out there. You have to be protective. You have to be smart about it in this. I don't know that many of us are,
Starting point is 01:28:04 which is why now you and I, you're already on Nord. That's been forever. And you and I go on the NordVPN. Yeah. And you do feel differently just about everything else that you've been doing. I really should have been smarter, maybe, along the way. With NordVPN, change your IP address,
Starting point is 01:28:24 hides your virtual location, encrypting connection to increase your privacy on So it's privacy and security. Yeah. But truly it is one of those things that you just need to have. And it's simple. One of the other things is like, oh, I just want to check the standings in my hockey pool and I'm at a place with Wi-Fi. I'm not going to let me look at the standards in my hockey pool? Like, is that really a problem here, folks?
Starting point is 01:28:48 Beep. Nord VPN. They're there. Virtual private network. That's what VPN stands for. Oh. There you go. Protects your internet connection.
Starting point is 01:28:56 It's privacy online. the, it creates an encrypted, encrypted tunnel for your data. I like the sounds of that. Got me an encrypted tunnel over here. I don't know what you're doing. Yeah. Safen up your stuff.
Starting point is 01:29:12 Your entire life is online. It's on your computer, your laptop, you go into NordVPN and you sign up, and here's the best thing about it. We got a little deal for you. NordvPN.com slash barn burner, and you're going to get an exclusive deal. just for the BarnBer listeners.
Starting point is 01:29:29 So you sign up today. Again, that address, NordvPN.com slash barn burner. Yeah, you're right. It's quick. Just give us your info. Sink. And you can hear the padlock, the virtual pad. Clink.
Starting point is 01:29:44 That's what it sounds like. It's like a safe closing. There's so much of what I've just said that isn't actual. You've done your best. I will say that. Yeah. Just trust us. It's something you need in your life.
Starting point is 01:29:56 NordVPN. They know more than we do. and they're good at it. They're the best. Listen to them, not us. Again, the deal. NordvPN.com slash barn burner. Safe and up your stuff.
Starting point is 01:30:08 There you go. There it is. Got some bangers. Are we ready for, now I understand. Today is the last day to sign up for the playoff draft. Sure.
Starting point is 01:30:20 Today is, are you saying sure? I don't know. Or you're just kind of going on. I imagine, yeah, like let's go. You're trusting me. This long. What the hell are you doing?
Starting point is 01:30:28 Coming up. on Friday over at the Grey Eagle. We are going to have the second ever Barnburner playoff draft. 24, there it is. Look at that. We are going to, we're going to have some drinks. We're going to have some food.
Starting point is 01:30:42 And we're going to hurl insults and obscenities at one another. It's going to be grand. A roasting type of affair. It really is, yeah. Yeah. If you're, if you're meek, it's probably not your event. Or just be prepared.
Starting point is 01:30:55 Like, be prepared to have a list. Yeah. And be prepared to get. absolutely railroaded verbally if you make a mistake or a bad pick. You are very leery about using the word annual. I am. So I've done the Googling because I see you just walking on edge chills every time I talk about it.
Starting point is 01:31:09 Occurring once every year is annual. Nothing is considered annual unless it's happened twice. So this would be the second annual. So it is the second. I was never sure. Because you can't have a first annual. Until the second occurrence. It's merely just a one-time event.
Starting point is 01:31:22 It's the inaugural or the one-time event. It just isn't possible to have a first annual if it has not occurred before. That's what I was saying. So excited. Second annual. Second annual. If you want to get in, today's your last day, damn it. And why wouldn't you want to get in?
Starting point is 01:31:43 I'm surprised there's still room left. I am too, actually. I am surprised there's still room left. So you don't like watching this hockey. You don't like having fun. Yeah. And then for that to continue to playoff? Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:31:56 If you want to watch Pinder do his Pinders things, because he'll be drinking. If you want to see Pinder in his full regalia and glory, this is your opportunity. Yes, a wild Pinder in his native environment. Yeah, we call it. You'll be very much at home. My ecosystem.
Starting point is 01:32:13 Hockey discussions and booze. And high kicks and sequenblazers. You'll be a fun guy, no doubt. Absolutely. In support of Kidsport, K. Webb will be there. Yeah. Somebody, you know, we're a big supporter of Kweb and kids.
Starting point is 01:32:29 sport. I was like, Quibb. Quabby. What is this spell? Webb. Oh, Kevin Webster sounds like the dark web, the K-web? Oh, Kevin. Okay, yeah, yeah. If you want to get your team, do it. Tables of eight. You don't need eight. That's kind of what a lot of limited. Two, three for whatever. If you're hungry, you just come with 60, you can split the food of the last two years. Get your table. We're going to have some barn burner, blonde origin brewing is going to be there. Village Hawn is going to be there. Of course, our events partner, Cloud Law is going
Starting point is 01:32:59 to be their pay build is back. You're excited. Paybilt back on board. Title sponsor from a year ago, back with us once again. Get your oilers early because paybilt's going to be all over there. They are, yeah. Yeah, they're massive oil. They took Sotikin and then.
Starting point is 01:33:11 Sixth round or seventh round last year. Good player, just maybe not the right window. Idiots. Playoff performer. Just, yeah. Sean Horcoff has been for example.
Starting point is 01:33:20 Any good playoff performers. It's just, I didn't know the last year was the best time. The reason Teakinen popped into into my head as I saw today was in 89 or no, Sorry. 91 in this date when Tickinen had the OT goal, game seven against the flames. Not ideal.
Starting point is 01:33:40 Not ideal. Wouldn't have been 89 in game seven. They didn't lose. Eliminated the flames. Flames did win. Here with Teakinen. Flames didn't play the Oilers. It fooled Vernie.
Starting point is 01:33:50 That's all you need to know. Bernie was very, looks like, like it was Brad Marsh, the defenseman. Maybe screened him a little bit. Are she? it's like dude it's game seven it's not overtime you know we're done now stuff the puck get out of the lane put a helmet on and smart get the hell out of the way
Starting point is 01:34:08 I think that's what Bernie was saying something about something like that something like that do our betway I'm ready all right with betway you can get a free bet up to $200 if your first bet loses you create a new account scan the QR code on the screen and redeem your bonus. Place a bet, no minimum amount required. If the bet loses, you get a free, well, you get a refund of up to 200 bucks is what it is. Then you use that money to go back in and bet on your favorite sports.
Starting point is 01:34:39 Now, this offer is only available outside of Ontario. So sorry to, I don't know, Doug Gilmore. Doug, you can drive down to the sundowner and make some bets grow over the fall. But if you're Ontario, it's a no, no fly zone. Sorry for you. Let's take a look at the Betway bats eight games tonight. There's some bangers. Washington at Philadelphia.
Starting point is 01:35:04 It's plus money for Washington. Sports books like Philly here. Plus 120. The better team, Dean's suggesting. They shut down the Bruins yesterday. What was the 16 saves for for? So yeah, it's, hey, let's go. And Detroit at Morial, Lucas Raymond.
Starting point is 01:35:26 Jack can't handle it everywhere he goes. he's hearing Lucas Raymond's name. He screamed at the top of people's lungs. Raymond! I'm going to say it's an anytime goal, take it, plus 162. So Jack is not happy with any of what's going on with me like this today. He's going to like mine a little better because I'm just on full team chaos, and that means we need Montreal to beat Detroit and we need Philly to be washed.
Starting point is 01:35:45 And that sets up a must win for the penguins tomorrow against the Islanders. Which is what we all want anyway. And if this goes to shit, it's your fault. I'm actually here in Calgary. I'm not playing any of these games. I've not yet secured my NHL contract with. the habs nor the flyers. Not yet.
Starting point is 01:36:02 Well, I mean, I'm working out. Anything can happen. So there you go. That is our Betway bets. Get that free bet of up to 200 bucks if the first bet loses. You create the new account. I don't know why you wouldn't. It's right there on the screen.
Starting point is 01:36:16 It's QR code. You do it. Redeem the bonus. When you place your bet, if you lose, you get a refund of up to $200. Then you use that to go back in and bet some more. This offer only available outside of Ontario. With Betway, you bet the responsible way.
Starting point is 01:36:30 Our buddies at Betway, the official gaming partner of Bar and Berner. Didn't get that green paint on his tongue. It's the only part of his body. Yeah, I know. Yeah, yeah, yeah. What could you eat to get green tongue? Breaking news from RJ. Uh-oh.
Starting point is 01:36:47 I don't know if you guys saw this. This from RJ, our buddy with the show. What is his, now I saw on the, he's our boss. What is he? He's Jack's boss. Jack is our boss and he's Jack. Because we got the email. I saw an email from RJ.
Starting point is 01:37:02 And at his designer and editor, I see is the title on his email. That's what he called him. So, Hey guys, can you hang on the stream for a few minutes after the show? No,
Starting point is 01:37:13 I can't. The Rets to know him. I really got a P. So I'm probably a note too. I have to talk to you about lav mics should only take about five minutes. Well, you're really,
Starting point is 01:37:23 we're going to need Rett in to get your thoughts in the lab. Yeah. What are your tics on live mics? I love them. they're great. I also love the lava limes. Yeah. Lava lamps, yeah.
Starting point is 01:37:33 What about the lava cake? Oh, delicious. Yeah. Vanilla ice cream. You ever made it? No. I'm kind of intrigued to make it. Because you make it,
Starting point is 01:37:42 you know what it is? You ready for a good word? The ganache. Oh, yeah. I don't know what that means. Good, good, good, good. It's the chocolate. It's like the chocolate.
Starting point is 01:37:51 Good, good, good, good, good, good, good. Gnosh. Pindjah, can say it. Gnosh. Gnosh. Yeah. Think of it. It's kind of it's kind of like.
Starting point is 01:37:58 It's like a, it's like a charcoaly. It's just, it's, and you put it in the freezer is what you do. So it's like your chocolate that you freeze it. And then you put it into the, the lab of the little cake. And like, think of it as a love mic. Like a cupcake tin. Yeah. And then when you bake it.
Starting point is 01:38:16 Yeah. The outer, like the batter turns into cake. Yeah. But the inside, because it was frozen solid, only warms up to a certain temperature. So it's the creamy chocolate. So when you open up the lava cake, you've got cake and then melty chocolate goo inside. Love lava. That is your ganache.
Starting point is 01:38:36 Damn. Lava, lava, lava, lava, anything else? Peter Laviolet? Laviolet. Big win for him last night. What did I see about Laviolet? You're just now stalling to ruin that's day. I can see this.
Starting point is 01:38:48 I saw something today. Laviolette. Coaches to win the president's trophy in their first season with the club. Pete. Pete LaVuette. That's great. Jim Montgomery did it with Boston last year. Monty.
Starting point is 01:39:03 Hope you that Pete LaViolette has better success in the play. Yeah, Monty flamed up pretty early there. Andrew Brunette did it the year before with Florida. Andy. As a fill-in. Yeah. That wasn't a plan. He wasn't good enough for them.
Starting point is 01:39:14 They needed to let him move along. He doesn't know what he's doing. Todd McClellan did it in San Jose in his first year. Oh, 809. Now you're still. Didn't really work out for him. Mike Babcock and Detroit 0506. Did they win?
Starting point is 01:39:27 Was that a couple of a couple of years? here for Detroit. 5.06. No, because a 506 was Carolina Edmonton. That's right. So Mike Keenan, 93-94. Never heard of them. Who is he? Seems like a nice fellow. First year with the club wins the president's trophy and wins the cup.
Starting point is 01:39:45 Good head of hair. How about it? Nice guy. Yeah. Didn't ruin Rett's career. And this is from, I look at this now and I wish I would have taken a screen grab of it because it says on here that Terry Crispy in 8788. Now, can Ginoche be crispy? Is that? Terry Crispy. Ah, dear.
Starting point is 01:40:12 We could doordash some gumash. I bet you could. Is there a place in town that's going to known for it? I don't know. Carolina, New York Islanders round one. Yeah. It's going to be a tough watch. That's fine.
Starting point is 01:40:27 That's why the first round is the best. You're never forced to watch, especially in early game. Yeah. There's so much hockey. You might have like Winnipeg, Colorado up against it, not even have to care. Beautiful. Dallas Vegas,
Starting point is 01:40:39 Toronto, Florida. Here's what I'm hoping that we get a Patrick Waugh meltdown. Yeah, I'm in for that. Somewhere along the line. Scale the glass, go crazy. Yeah. When I got home after the movie,
Starting point is 01:40:51 they had a top 10 coaching meltdown. Yeah. Oh, Jimmy Playfair up high on that one? Always top three. Always. Yeah. Oh, geez. I haven't seen a coach empty of stick rack in a while.
Starting point is 01:41:02 That was always a move I don't remember the Chris Clark. I don't think it's the same Chris Clark that he put the shades on and had the Oh yeah, he was doing the the, the mime bit, blind guy. Yeah, yeah. You need props for that, right? Yeah, you got to be prepared. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:41:19 Shades. But what kind of asshole has sunglasses on all the time? Creepy. Just can't think anyone. Just at the ready, it all go to any given time. Look into that. Get back to you. What's on the menu, dude?
Starting point is 01:41:42 Is today Tuesday? Yes, it is. Leaves Panthers tonight? No. But the division will be sorted out tonight. I believe, is it Least Pathers tonight? I believe leaves are at the Pathers tonight. That's the thing.
Starting point is 01:41:58 Yeah, it is too. Look at that. 5.30. Well. Leaves Pathers tonight? No. Because I'm so ready for the playoffs series. I know.
Starting point is 01:42:05 Because I was going to say 70 goals within reach tonight for Austin Matthews. It's a hell of the feet. What's more impressive today? 70 goals or 100 assists? It's what everyone's talking about? It's the big question. What's more impressive? I haven't talked to anyone about it,
Starting point is 01:42:24 so I don't think anyone's, it's not. Well, it's all over the, it's all over the Sosh. Biz and Whitdog were talking about it. Justin Bourne was talking about it. Everybody's talking about it.
Starting point is 01:42:38 I don't know. They're both very amazing feats. I'm going to have a hard time taking a stance. Yeah. Both very good. Now, there's more players in the neighborhood of 100 assists than there are in 70 goals. Would that be fair to say?
Starting point is 01:42:59 No, it's the opposite. There's more guys that have scored 70 than I've got 100. I mean, right now. Yes. Because Kuchrov can hit 100. This season, correct. All time history. There's four that have had 100 assists.
Starting point is 01:43:10 Kuturov could be five. And I think you probably got eight to 10, 70 goal guys in the history of the league. There's six that have got 75. or more. That's really, but it's been forever since anyone's gotten to that total. Someone just got to 100-sist yesterday. It can't be that impressive. Yeah, how hard is? Seriously. So my two-trop has 99.
Starting point is 01:43:30 McDavid's got 100. Like everybody's doing it. Where's an eight dog guy? He's 87. Yeah, he's not getting there. And then in terms of goals, you got Matthews at 69. Next, this is Ryanhart at 55. Not real close. 54 for Zach Hyman. How about it? He plays with that guy with all the assists. Is that right?
Starting point is 01:43:48 Yeah, that's the guy setting them up. That's right. 100. guy. Panarin 48 goals. Philip Forsberg finishes with 49. One shot. Sorry, 48. Panarin finishes with 49, Forsberg 48. They're done. Done. So he falls too shy
Starting point is 01:44:02 of Hawkenlib's Swedish record. Only one suite ever scored 50. God damn it. Perfect. Keep it in Hawkins' hands. Hawkins' hands. Yeah. Maybe if Forrestberg wasn't a little bit lazy? Yeah. A little bit unfit.
Starting point is 01:44:18 DoorDash ordering is easy. You get the DoorDash app. You choose what you want from wherever you want and you just get it to deliver it to your door. Right in your doorstep.

Starting point is 01:44:48 they play this time. in La Belle Provence, and it is a 5 o'clock puck drop. Also at 5. The capitals in Philly, you need to win if you want to make the playoffs. That's kind of a rule of thumb here, fellas. So now that should be fun to watch. Florida is hosting Toronto at 530
Starting point is 01:45:04 down in Sunrise, which is located near Fort Lauderdale. And I've even got a little baseball for Yankees, Jays, 507. If you need a matinee, Barcelona, PSG at 1. Champions League quarterfinals. Can we talk more about that? I don't think Brett wants to. What about Jack?
Starting point is 01:45:23 Jack, you big Champions League guy? What's the Champions League? So I'm going to say no. Because you brought it up today to Jack and I is, when you brought it up, I was like, a footie guy,
Starting point is 01:45:32 must be into that. It's like the Leo Messi Bowl because he played in Barcelona's soccer and then went to PSG and now he's come. Because I figured if it was you and me together in the room and nobody else, you wouldn't have brought up Champions League soccer. No. So I was like,
Starting point is 01:45:44 oh, I didn't know that Jack was into footy. He's a big fan. The look on his face. was perfect. You need the jack cam for that one. Yeah, maybe once in a while. Dash that for the win with DoorDash. Today's a DoorDash day.
Starting point is 01:46:02 Oh, DoorDash, good on you. Why don't you drive around? No, why don't you get it delivered to your front door? Just going to get it brought in. Just bring it in. Tomorrow, we're going to look back in this Flames game.
Starting point is 01:46:16 After analyzing it tonight, too. Yeah, going to talk about it tonight. And then tomorrow again, which is good. You guys want to cover for me tonight? You two do the show. Noodles. I said I'd go,
Starting point is 01:46:26 so I don't care who else is there. All right. Noodles is on tomorrow. Nudes. Where's he at? His Ottawa's traveling around. What do they play tonight? They play tonight?
Starting point is 01:46:37 Ottawa, we're worried about Ottawa? No, I'm just worried about noodles. I'm going to get the text. Hey, you know what? I'm flying to,
Starting point is 01:46:42 flying out of Boston. We got delayed. We've got to go to. I'm going to be a to do international. I'm not going to have cell service. so we'll do a Thursday? That's what's going to come on.
Starting point is 01:46:53 You've got a guest Thursday, too? I don't know. The guy's annoying me, so. And what's it about? We might not have Jerome McGillow Thursday. They asked if we would help him out with a promotion. I said, absolutely love to. Alumnist, Stanley Cup champion,
Starting point is 01:47:08 win a big jet. Nothing, but. Yeah, yeah. Did you send them the calendar invite? Not yet. I sent it to Jack to deal with. Come on, boss. Because I didn't know how to do a calendar invite
Starting point is 01:47:20 that got put into his calendar yeah yeah you couldn't just tell him and he could didn't do it i was he at that stanley cup party that uh you hated in Vegas no just johnny taves how many ranks did he get see one or two ladd couple well he had one carolina oh geez at least one isn't that who it is yeah you definitely oh lander ad sorry ralinds at. Jeez, son my calendar invite. Yeah. That'll do it. Thanks for joining us, Alex. How's everyone doing? Oh, we're getting there. We're, we're minutes away, or a couple hours away from finishing. I'm not going to lie to you. Body's pretty banged up. The mind's pretty washed up right now, but the light is at the end of
Starting point is 01:48:19 the tunnel. We're pretty excited. So final stretch. Yeah. And so originally, what, 12 years ago, you started this every other year. You've come back and run another hockey marathon. Each time, the greatest, the longest, trying to raise the most money. This is, this is quite a war. It's been, it's been an awesome feat. You know, unfortunately, cancer hasn't gone anywhere and in the last 10 to 12 years of anything, it's gotten worse. And when I reached out to the committee about a year and a half ago and said, hey, what do you all think? Should we do it again? All being older as well. And without hesitation, everyone said, you know what, let's do it one more time. So here we are, you know, 40 players on the ice and we're about $1.3 million into it.
Starting point is 01:49:02 Hopefully, hopefully close to that million and a half to $2 million mark by 5 o'clock tonight. So if people want to contribute, there's a donation button on your website, Hockeymarathon.com. There's also 50-50 tickets available. And you guys started what? On the 5th of April, you started playing? We started. It's been 10 and a half days, so 10 and a half days ago, I've probably got about 13 hours of sleep in the last week, our 10 and a half days. So starting to wear, like I said, these players are amazing. Like we're talking, you know, guys have blown their growing,
Starting point is 01:49:36 their hips, their knees, their quads, tenens in their feet. Well, we got this little guy here, his name is Colton. Colton's been battling cancer, the Yumbardy Children's Hospital for almost 2,000 days. So, you know, for what we've been through in the last 10 and a half days is insignificant
Starting point is 01:49:53 as to what little man's been. been through for the last 2,000 days. And the whole focus of this is to raise awareness for the Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation, especially raising money for pediatric cancer research. And the support's been amazing. And everyone talks about the 40 players on the ice. That's irrelevant.
Starting point is 01:50:10 The players are one thing. Literally over 2,000 volunteers to pull this event off. So I think we're about 2,100 volunteers to pull this event off. We're talking of ages from five years old, right up to 90 years old, bench helpers. laundry people, referees. It's been awesome.
Starting point is 01:50:29 You know, everyone got involved in this event this year. And I was a little worried, I'm not going to lie to you. I was a little worried how we're going to find that many volunteers. But it's been overwhelming, overwhelming in support for the community. And we couldn't think of enough. And so you alluded to it. The physical toll that these 40 players go through is they try to play hockey for what, essentially like 10 and 11 days in a straight, it's massive.
Starting point is 01:50:52 It's significant. You noted some of the issues. issues and injuries. Every two years you see this. This is a serious ordeal. People are putting their bodies through when they sign up to do this. So every year I discover, I told, I was on the ice with a couple of teammates. I forget, I, I missed the days where I could say I had a right shoulder and a left shoulder. Now I got a good shoulder and a bad shoulder. I got a good knee and a bad knee. So I've lost the, I've lost the ability to stay right and left. And, you know, to let people those that understand what the body goes through I take in almost 20,000
Starting point is 01:51:28 calories a day and I lose two pounds a day. This year I discovered one injury. I got hit with a puck above my ankle and the middle of the night I was sleeping and my foot was really, really warm. So I go on the chat, I'm like, I need ice. So can the medics please bring the ice? So they brought me outside. End up I had a hematoma.
Starting point is 01:51:46 So a vein basically ruptured above my ankle and my foot was blocked. It was just blocked. So they drained it right away, they quadded it, and I had to be on the ice in about three hours. So I went back on the ice, and I was skating around. I couldn't figure out, I knew my feet were going to swell. My feet already swelled two sizes. And they were starting to feel tight in my skate. So I went to take my skate off, ends up it ruptured again, and my foot was as black
Starting point is 01:52:10 as my skate again. So they had to pull me back off into the medical area and drain my feet one more time. But you know, like I said, these are minor things that we go through as players to get through this and I think the biggest toll for the players is just a mental toll like it's I probably met close to 40 or 50 little kids in the last 10 days that are battling cancer or be cancer and unfortunately a couple a couple kids that were working with us never never made it to the end of the game so that one that was a big one on the players and I make last night we're talking to in two in the morning one of the players in the room and I didn't seem on
Starting point is 01:52:46 the ice that someone said you better go talk to me you walk in the room and the players just breaking down crying you know shows you these things guys got good, good hearts. And we've got some amazing people. And if it saves the life of a child, this is all worth it. This whole game was worth it. What, how many hours a day would it average out to that you're on the ice playing versus being able to rest? And you're probably pretty excited to see that damn Zamboni every once in a while. So Guinness Book actually allows us to have a 10 minute flight every hour, 50 minutes. So the average player will skate about 14 hours a day, 14 to 16 hours a day, pending there's no injuries. If there's an injury, there's an injury,
Starting point is 01:53:22 in place and you got to cover for each other you're upwards of 18 hours i had an incident two days ago where two of my guys dropped due to bronchitis and uh we were so short-handed we actually had to play the whole four-hour shift with no spares and i'm a 280-pound guy so it was starting to wear me my uh my things were starting to give and my feet were just killing me but you know what you know you develop a brotherhood here we actually have two girls playing in the game as well which is awesome. They've done phenomenal. But yeah, I know. We're looking forward to seeing the light at the end of the tunnel here at 5 o'clock.
Starting point is 01:53:58 You know what? I will happily donate. I'm not brave enough to get in there. I don't think, Alex. But thanks so much for your time. Alex Hillout, the organizer and founder, Hockeymarathon.com. It is for the kids. And again, 50-50s. You can donate on the website as well.
Starting point is 01:54:13 40 players, 262 hours straight at the Chestermere Rec Center, score if you're curious 3,055 to 2,923. Incredible quest for a Guinness Book of World Record, as well as all the funds raised for the Alberta Children's Cancer Society. Thanks, Alex.
