Starting point is 00:00:17 Did that sound weird to anybody else, or was it just, uh, was it just me? That's not good to me. Did it? One ear in, but yeah. All right. How are we doing, everybody? It is, um, uh, the 15th of April. A Monday.
Starting point is 00:00:30 It's a Monday. As we're halfway through. I guess. That means I got to start doing my taxes, which is a pile of work. I have no interest in doing. You're American. That's the day, by the way. Oh, really?
Starting point is 00:00:42 screwed it up. Yeah. I hope you didn't screw it up, Rhett. Not quite American. Yeah. It's confusing. Yeah. So what is, is it a big job for you there, Pinder?
Starting point is 00:00:52 I don't know. I just have a pile of receipts that I've done nothing with them. That means I know have to do something with them. Yeah. Probably is a big job talking to you. You said it's consumed a lot of your last two months. It did. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:01:02 It was, uh, you know more than I do at this point. He's got seven or eight businesses going at least. Yeah, I got a lot on the go, Ryan. I mean, it's pickle fest enterprises. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:01:14 PFE. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Big. Big 20th. PFF. PFB in 2020.
Starting point is 00:01:20 What's the stock? Lots going on, guys. Yeah. We're not. Pekyll Fest Enterprises. Yeah, we've got a lot going on. Well, it's good to have everybody long. The Calgary Flames have won three of their last four games.
Starting point is 00:01:33 These sons of bitches. That's what they do. No, no, it's okay. It's fine because it makes picking a gindla that much easier. Well, I was just going to say. That much closer to him. The debate is less. If you're picking at six or five,
Starting point is 00:01:49 So here's the thing. When Seattle steps up at 8, who passed the flames last night in the Inverstandings and selects Tija Gindlin, you're sitting nine. How will you feel about it then? Well, you're going to go down to Ron Francis's room and you're going to clobber. He's going to come in and clean his clock. Listen, here, you old gray-haired bastard. Now, Ron, I'm sorry to do this, but Jerome has a few back.
Starting point is 00:02:09 Oh, Jesus. How could you? Yeah, it's going to be a very steady topic of conversations. Now, from what I understand, The Colon Rockets, Teague's team not faring so well against Prince George. Well, Jimmy Playfair's got the boys from PG fired up and ready to go. Look out. NHL coach.
Starting point is 00:02:30 I believe that's what I had heard through the old. Nobody wants us to drive all the way to Prince George. Bus legs, Dean. A lot of bust legs. The old PG flu. It happens. It happens. But yeah, now all things being equal, it was a win last night,
Starting point is 00:02:47 but yet was still entertaining. so as bad as awful as the news is yes it was actually a very good game and bad hockey can be very entertaining last night a perfect example of it yeah like bowls and mistakes and action and yeah people look like they're playing defense for the first time it was a doozy yeah it was the just get me six boys and we'll put this thing to bed we're good six five the final and it's Connor anger mont team tank what the hell's going on there jesus and he's that a great year too How many, he's got like six shutouts or something? He's the league and shutouts.
Starting point is 00:03:22 He's the league and shutouts. Time for the league lead. Don't get it. Bad beat. He's four nothing and five nothing. PG beat Colonna games one and two. Those are. Yeah, they got.
Starting point is 00:03:32 No goals for Teague and don't need to look at the box scores there. Shut out twice. That's right. Yeah. So anyway, Flames Coyotes. You were at the game, Ryan. So tell us about it.
Starting point is 00:03:45 That is incorrect. Oh, not at the game. Oh, Rhett, you were at the game. Yeah, I love it. it was a great game love the fight also action yeah that was that was a very good fight for one of the two people yeah you know what i was going to go to the game but it was so nice out that i thought better get started on my tan plus bender didn't give me this tickets yeah i don't have any tickets i don't you always have tickets you go sunday at six they went first overall that was a tie i couldn't
Starting point is 00:04:14 get my pause on them the first overall draft pick with it whenever arizona comes in in april on a Sunday at six. It's, it might not slide to you in the draft. Hot ticket, hot ticket. So you weren't that game either, Dean? No, I was not at the game. He's been to his two this year, hit his threshold. Yeah, that's it.
Starting point is 00:04:30 I'm good. You were focused on the golf because it was Masters and you're, you're into golf. Scott Schuette Scha Schufeffer, a huge, Scotty Sheffler fan. Scottie Sheffler. The, uh, the Kuzmenko, Cadry pairing. Yeah, train. Let's call it a train because it's running down the track.
Starting point is 00:04:51 The Kuzmenko-Codry train. It's chug-a-chug-a-chugging away as both gentlemen. You know what they've done? They found some chemistry. They're going to point a half a game, these bastards. They're on a huge. They're ruining this thing. They really are.
Starting point is 00:05:07 They're trying to get a ginlet to frickin' Seattle. These jerks. Another. He didn't like Seattle once already. He ain't going back to Seattle. He already said, give me that. Hell out of Seattle. Well, you want to play junior until he's 20?
Starting point is 00:05:19 He's got that option, I guess. Seven multi-point games in the last nine for Kuzmanko, 16 points in those nine games. Nine goals and nine games. Seven assists to go with. And Cadreys lost 10, 15 points. And then everyone's going to bitch about it because, oh, the games don't matter.
Starting point is 00:05:40 So now he's playing well. Is that kind of the... I wouldn't go there. I think... I'm not going there. I thought I heard those rumors, those rumblings. No. I think, you know what?
Starting point is 00:05:48 It probably just changes the conversation a bit. Because when you looked at Kuzmanko is very streaky and, you know, he had some games where he'd show up and then you'd see large swaths where he didn't look interested. This is a really, really good run for a guy that has vastly outperformed Elias Lindholm since the trade and was one of five pieces Craig Conray got and that you have to make a decision on him the next year. He's a free agent essentially next summer.
Starting point is 00:06:12 Well, I've already made mine. Can I submit something to the group? Please do. It is my understanding. I've had some high level discussions. Oh. That apparently when Kuzmenko came to town, he was quite sick. A viral type of a thing that he was dealing with.
Starting point is 00:06:30 So when he was being healthy scratched, healthy scratched, he wasn't as healthy as as you might be led to believe. They call it, or upper body injury. He was actually quite sick and wasn't feeling good until recently. and now, obviously the production is speaking for himself, but, and you factor that into new team, comfort level, feeling better. Linemate too. Linemate doesn't hurt.
Starting point is 00:06:56 And now you talk about, again, so I just wanted to throw that because I do believe, this from the team. Yeah, he was actually, he just wasn't very, wasn't feeling great. Yeah, and they said they were consistent with that the whole way. I think it was more the conspiracy theorists, right? Now, you said it changed the story a little bit, Ryan, back to you. Well, he's on an over 40 goal page. since he's arrived in Cowdery.
Starting point is 00:07:17 And it just, something about it was so weird that a guy is a rookie, albeit 27 or whatever he was, could score 39 in his first year in the NHL. Like, guys don't come from other leagues and score 39 in the NHL ever. This is wild. Does it matter who you're playing with? Obviously, it does matter. But I mean, it was because he was with Patterson.
Starting point is 00:07:35 There's been a lot of guys that have played with Julius Patterson in the last 10 years that have got nowhere near 39 goals, and none of them have been rookies. 10 years? Is he that? Yeah, sure. Okay. I wasn't being a dinko.
Starting point is 00:07:45 Yeah, I just mean like, look, Elias Patterson plays next to two guys every year. How many have got 30-9 is a rookie? Zero. He's the only guy, Kuzmenko plus zero. I don't think there's any debating the skill level. Yeah, yeah. He's a special talent.
Starting point is 00:07:59 Yeah. And so that guy somehow Rick Tocke didn't want on the ice before he got sick at certain instances this year. And that's just, that feels like a red flag. And when you watched him when he wasn't 100%, to your point, Dean, you can kind of put a little more weight in that red flag. And now when you see him with Caudry on a nine-game heater where he's over a point and a half per game, looking like their most dynamic player and a power play suddenly come to life,
Starting point is 00:08:27 now you're putting less stock in that red flag and saying it's all fit and look at here. They just had too many bodies there. So I just, over the course of these, what, since he got traded the deadline, two months in Calgary? we've been on a bit of an emotional ride on how you feel about the guy because of all these things that have changed. That point you make is exactly what I was thinking is, so what happened in Vancouver with talking at the start of the year. So if you take last year and his impressive performance and then what we've seen here over the last, however many, whatever it's been since the trade deadline, for the most part, when does one outweigh the other? what we didn't see and just what we've heard is speculation and healthy or reduced ice time with talk it and how much talk do we put into what we're seeing
Starting point is 00:09:17 with our own eyeballs and what took place a year ago. One is starting to, there's more in one of the buckets than there is in the other. Yeah, especially when he's in the rookie year, right, Dean? So you basically have a year and a third where he's looked like a dynamic offensive player with a rare skill set in the league. And then there's two thirds of a season. And he's like, well, I didn't look like you get along with the coach.
Starting point is 00:09:39 And somebody's in the chat. And I think it's what everybody would agree. You wish he was younger. Or had more term on his contract. Yeah. Yeah, fair enough. Or he had, because it will be a, you talk about discussions that we will no doubt be having. What do you do with this guy?
Starting point is 00:09:54 And I know, you've used the, you know, the pump and dump. Yeah. Give him ice time, give him opportunity and then trade them. Yeah. And, and I said it last week at the same time, this team has been devoid of high level. skill for so long. Now you've got some. How old is he?
Starting point is 00:10:11 He will be 30 on his new deal. He's his 28 year old season this year. He's 29 year old season next year. That would be my concern is that is he part of the age group that can help you move him? No, and if you're going to trade him, you would be adding someone that would join that age group. Like if he's going to, let's say you've got him on a 40 goal pace next year as you head into the deadline.
Starting point is 00:10:33 That's a very valuable piece. and so while I think Kuzmenko's a great player and the type of player the team should try to go get, there's also teams that he'll be more valuable to in the final year of a contract before his UFA. Like that's an attractive rental for a team that loses a winger that can score. Maybe the offensive productions drop just a bit. You'll be able to chew contract. You'll be able to eat some money. And it's also a situation where to your point, Dean, the Rick Tocket experience looks like maybe potentially
Starting point is 00:11:05 the outlier, not half of his resume. And so you could keep him and he's a good player, but if he's a good player, that means you probably get a lot for him if you trade him next year. Yeah, you're, and you start to think big picture now when, when things are good. What's it never, you know, don't make decisions when you're super pissed off or you're too high or too low, right? This is not the time. Plus, they've got all kinds of time.
Starting point is 00:11:31 It's, what it is is it's fun to watch. he's an exciting player that they've that they've not had for a while and yeah he and codry they're dangerous out there and they're making things happen it was uh again i don't know what you call last night's game it was a bit of a rodeo at time 11 goals blown leads was three over kind of all over the place but for being this late in the season it was a fun game to watch they get a win it's kind of whatever, but I do feel like it's a pump the brakes thing, even though there's nothing else really for us to talk about right now. It's a great development.
Starting point is 00:12:13 It gives Connie more options. If this guy's playing like shit, it's exactly what you hoped for when you traded for. Totally. When we were in Toronto at All Star Break and they made this trade and the pieces started fell out into the public space one of the time. It was Cozmanco. Then it was going to be a first. And then, oh, there's probably a conditional pick.
Starting point is 00:12:29 And then there's this Bristavich kid and oh, there's another finished. defenseman or Swedish defenseman as well, you know, the thought was okay. Like it hasn't been a good fit under talk it there. Could you restore some value in Kuzmenko? And then you've got the choice of signing a good player or trading a good player. And that's happened. Yeah. It's the best case scenario.
Starting point is 00:12:49 Hey, you know what, Red? You're exactly right. That's what we said. Because on, on the Vancouver side, it was being framed as a salary dump. And here it was, well, maybe it could be a bit of a reclamation project. check. Yes. And get back to the level that he was playing at before. And then he's an asset, however you want to use it, whether you're keeping them or trading them or whatever. So, so far is so good. Yeah. And for those that are like saying sign them, sign them,
Starting point is 00:13:16 sign them, let's say the flames are competitive when the new rank opens. And that feels quick. That's a pretty quick turnaround. That'd be fall of 2027. You're talking about a guy that'll be 32, 33-ish. Like, are you sure what you have at that age? Like, those are the years where scores start scoring less and players go into decline and at certain positions, be at a powerful or physical defense, you just might be done. That's not necessarily the match in the window. And that's sort of a counterpoint to, he's great. He's the type of player you want sign them.
Starting point is 00:13:47 If you got time, you use it. Yeah. And they have until the deadline next year, essentially. They will definitely use it. They will definitely use it. Is there any kind of sadness towards the coyotes being done? Just seeing the jerseys and just the, it's going. If it's sadness, it's disappointment because what a spot to play.
Starting point is 00:14:06 Scottsdale, what a spot to go watch a game if you're a fan. You know, and from out west, it was a people did. There's people that flew down to Scottsdale and went to games. It was part of the hockey trips. Yeah, I think, I think, to go golf and watch Flames game. Short term, it's probably a little disappointed, but big pitcher, it's going to be way better. They're going to be back there with a less shitty owner in a real rank.
Starting point is 00:14:28 Like, it's just probably going to take three to five years. It's not possible. that aren't going to be around. No, you're not going to be around three to five years? Jeez. There's no guarantees out there. No, they sure aren't. And I guess there's not a guarantee that they do go back,
Starting point is 00:14:39 but it does feel like everyone close to this is saying they'll be back. I think it's also part of how they're going to extract this team from the hands of Morello is to say, oh, no, no, no, no. Like, you can have the team we come back if checklist and they know he won't be able to complete the checklist. That's, I think, the understated part of this is getting this Morello out. Yes. He's a total clown. Right.
Starting point is 00:15:00 Because if it was a, if it was a reputable owner, they wouldn't be in this spot in the first place. Well, let's just assume that the, the owner is well healed and is a good businessman. There's a rink sitting empty in Glendale. You know, that's the one thing you've not heard anywhere along the line is, is there no way that the NHL can go and broker some sort of a deal and just keep more. There's, as long as that Morello's involved. Yeah. There's, they're just done with them.
Starting point is 00:15:25 And can you imagine they're going to have to, the league's going to have to pay a billion dollars. to this guy now. What are the rest of the owners think of this guy? I think there's just a thought that some of them would be frustrated that he's going to make out like a bandit after being such a bad member of the club, so to speak. But remember, they're all going to get $200 million split amongst the 30 of them, not including Vegas and Seattle. They don't get relocation fees, I don't believe, because they're new to the club. But each owner will get a check of, let's call it, like, seven million bucks. and hockey-related revenue goes up, you remove the laughing stock building,
Starting point is 00:16:02 the laughing stock owner. But again, to make no, miss no words about it, if this billionaire in Salt Lake lived in Arizona, that's your optimal scenario. It's a better market than Salt Lake. It's the owner that's the issue, because the owner doesn't have the goodwill
Starting point is 00:16:18 to get a building done, and no one wants to do anything with this owner. He can't get shit done. They got voted down in Tempe. You know, the mayor's already against his proposal, land purchase north of Scottsdale. He owes the city of Glendale millions.
Starting point is 00:16:31 Like nobody wants to do anything with this cat. You got to get rid of him. And if you have to leave Phoenix to come back later to get rid of it, that's kind of what the league's, you know, shit. We have to pay a billion, but we're getting 1.2 for it in Salt Lake and we're getting this asshole out of the club.
Starting point is 00:16:45 It's a good spot to be in. You've put yourself, you're so undesirable that someone's going to pay you a billion. Just go away. Just to leave. Yeah. Just please give us the keys back to the thing here. and leave.
Starting point is 00:16:57 Yeah. It's not bad. We talk about quarterbacks or guys get, you know, quarterbacks that sign big deals and don't play or guys get smote out and sign out.
Starting point is 00:17:06 Oh, the coaches down in college football. That might be even, it's tough to beat a billion. That's a B. Yeah. And he's probably lost a lot on the way, but he's more than whole at that number.
Starting point is 00:17:17 Geez. Oh, yeah. He's not, he's, he might be down a couple hundred million at the most. And he's making probably six, seven hundred on, five to six hundred on the transaction. Nice.
Starting point is 00:17:27 Yeah. Let's do that. And for the league, it's like you can't just say we're going to buy it for 700. Ottawa just went for 950. Their job is to keep franchise values as high as possible. That's so crucial to Gary and you always hear it. So it's like, well, we have to pay this jerk, but it's good for everyone's franchise values. And we're going to get relocation money.
Starting point is 00:17:49 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Well, as someone, you feel for the fans. You feel for the people who are coyotes fans, and they're having their team ripped out of the, you know, ripping their hearts out. Can you imagine what that would feel like?
Starting point is 00:18:06 Dean, could you? Like, what, hey, tips. Yeah, that's how they got there in the goddamn first place. They did to Winnipeg and there was more than 5,000 of them a game, you ass hats. Anyway, I'm neither here nor there. So what do we got this week for the Calgary Flames? I don't know if there's too much else to talk about from the game.
Starting point is 00:18:25 It was a very exciting game. might it was it was a good game it was a fun game I don't know yeah exciting it was a fun game because good game as far yeah entertainment value entertain for sure and I think the fears of like this these last three weeks being just awful like they haven't really transpired they've worked hard they've lost close games and like they win and it's exciting like they just haven't been a lot of stinkers I was at the five three loss to anaheim it's kind of a stinker yeah stinker yeah is a fine And I've got six. Well, I know.
Starting point is 00:18:57 I'll be honest now that you bring that up, I feel like you've shortchanged us. If there's one thing we know, it's that your attendance guarantees shitty hockey and losses. You could have helped. And you could have been down there and you were selfish. Don't you want to teach you out first? Teach? Look in the mirror, buddy. They got one more home game.
Starting point is 00:19:22 I mean, I don't think I'm going to Vancouver. No. I'm not sure about Thursday. Yeah, but you could have went yesterday, early, still got to. I probably, I mean, I didn't have, you know, I didn't have tickets or anything. I don't know how I could have gone on in the weather. I feel like you're a part of the media and you can just walk right in. Yeah, that's how it goes.
Starting point is 00:19:39 Yeah, five bucks, have the food where you go. That's how it is. It's five bucks. Wow. Inflation of something years to be five. I bet you're 10 now. They can do it. You think so?
Starting point is 00:19:49 I'd do it, I'm sure. Yeah. But whatever, if you're not committed, that's, hey. I'm very committed, Rhett. I'm not sure you are. I'm very committed. I just can't find my, my liners.
Starting point is 00:20:01 I'm going to have to pronounce some liners here. Yeah, put some liners, but I want to tell you, that's kind of our opening statements, I suppose. Is there, come on. Now, what else is there,
Starting point is 00:20:08 Retro? Tell us, do you watch the game? Give us your impressions. Goaltenders, we're doing their best to let some shitty goals in. Yeah. Fight?
Starting point is 00:20:17 We're to fight, kind of fight, kind of a fight. And again, Kelly, Rudy. good on you pal to keep because hey that's pretty even fight both guys got some shots in i mean uh sure nope kelly you're not doing radio i think that one was tipped i don't know about that either hey kelly does a great job we're lucky to have him he's awesome color yeah and to be fair like
Starting point is 00:20:47 these when you're mathematically eliminated and you got oh lowly yotes coming through Rob Ray. So the broadcast teams would be much harder to watch. Those two have a great job this year. Not good. What were you going to say about Rob Ray? Well, he's just, he's been dealing with it in Buffalo for even longer.
Starting point is 00:21:05 13 years to be exact. And not an easy. So does he get to do playoff games when they make it over those 13 years? Yeah, what kind of pay do you get? Like, how is that going to affect that poor bastard's life? Like, if they make the playoffs, like you can't set it in stone. or like you can't you can't plan your vacation his annual april 20 t-time must get canceled yeah
Starting point is 00:21:28 yeah yeah hell 13 years man oh god don't do that here please 13 it's a long time it's a long time yeah it's a long time oh i just final thoughts on that i'm not taking a run of kelly love kelly and i think that he and rick you can hear the camp you talk about chemistry you can hear the the chemistry that those two guys like each other and you can tell and it's sound there's something about their broadcast that i do enjoy we're very very well we're very very lucky is a regional broadcast to have two broadcasters that caliber. Yeah. I will say one thing I'm starting to see and asked and tweeted about and just the conversation
Starting point is 00:22:04 around Dustin Wolf is, oh, is he not? Look at six goals. He can't be a starter. How many games are in his career? Like 20? People are really want to make up their minds quickly about the rest of his life. He's not playing 20 games. He's 10 maybe?
Starting point is 00:22:19 Like I think, yeah, he's probably two 10. One last year. And yeah. One last year and nothing until, you know, a couple of injured marks from spells and then Lidar goes down. But everyone's in a rush to figure out whether he is or isn't. Wow. And you're right. And we do try to.
Starting point is 00:22:34 And a word of caution, it won't be. If he does come in and play like Patrick Juan, they win the cup next year. Wow. Okay. That's. Well, then you can go ahead and put his name in the hall. Yeah, way to go. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:46 It takes guys time. More than likely he's going to come in and be at best average next year. Yeah. Like that's probably what you could hope and pray for. And that's how it goes for most guys that end up being very good number ones. Like Jacob Marsham cleared waivers in his mid-20s guys. Like this is one of the reasons I still have a tough time with high draftics on goalies because he might be a great goalie, but it's usually the second or third organization.
Starting point is 00:23:09 You've got to force tough decisions on waivers and contracts before these guys are really number ones a lot of times. I would, it would be great to go, you probably know it more. But go look at Soros in Nashville. Yeah, that would be the whole. Backed up Renee forever. Yes, but he backed up forever. And that's how you get good in this league, is you play lots and lots and lots.
Starting point is 00:23:28 And he's not going to have an NHL caliber decor in front of them for a while here. So it's just going to be a tough grading environment. He's never going to grow another three inches. And it's just people are, he's not big enough, he's not big enough. And now it's confirmation bias. Everything they see is he's not big enough.
Starting point is 00:23:44 A bigger guy would have stopped? It was like, well, have you seen Jacob Markstrom's number since they traded their best defensive pair? Like, they're not nearly as good as they were before. Wolf needs to be a top 10 when he's 25. Yes. Like that's, so you,
Starting point is 00:23:56 and it's just like, oh yeah, Jesus. I don't know if you mean, I was like, well, how the fuck would you know? He's played how many games in the league?
Starting point is 00:24:03 Yeah. You never know about any of these guys then. People don't want to buy stock in the wolf isn't it. Stock, you know, if that's what, yeah, then you're going to,
Starting point is 00:24:11 you get down the road. And if in fact, he turns, it's not a, not a top 10, not a number one NHL goalie, then they'll come back. I knew right from the start.
Starting point is 00:24:20 You could tell in your, one or whatever, then fine, you can do that. But to judge him right now, just based on the D, he's playing behind, and you watch those goals that went in last night, now maybe some goal he's got them, but the Gunther shots are terrific goals. I mean, it's not making excuses, but we're all thinking the same thing as you watch Wolf, because we've all got him under the microscope right now, the goal goes in, okay, well, should he have had it?
Starting point is 00:24:47 How quality of shot was it? Would Markstrom have had it? Would Hellebuck? Would somebody else have had it? There's just so much. Now, he's not going to get any bigger. That's the thing. And I, you do, I think, if anything,
Starting point is 00:25:01 he's relied on his athletic ability so much and he's so good at coming across. I almost feel like sometimes he's doing too much. He almost overplays pucks a little bit because he's having to come. He's so used to having to come over. I think he's going to be just fine. I don't know that we're looking at Patrick Waugh, to your point. but I also think that you can't judge it based on what you're seeing right now. It's the end of a season.
Starting point is 00:25:25 The D-Corps is no good. The effort is 80%. He has started 14 games this year. He started 15 in his career. I'm surprised at that. Well, it's still a low number. It's the last three weeks, really. But I mean, for people to say, well, I know what he is.
Starting point is 00:25:40 No, you don't. Because if you did, you'd be working in the NHL. Trust me, you don't. Like, you know, we watched Kerry Price, who's one of the greatest goalies of our lives, sit and watch Yarrow Halak play in the playoffs for the halves. Yeah, they were moving him to Philly. They were moving him to Philly because he was no good.
Starting point is 00:25:56 Like, they're goalies guys, remember. Like, you know, Shasturkin and Sorokin, maybe two of the best in the league. They don't come over until they're mid-20s. They're Dustin Wolf. They're still playing in the K. And like, you know, Carter Hart was the bloody era parents.
Starting point is 00:26:10 And obviously he's not playing anywhere right now due to the 2018 lawsuit or court filing. or whatever you want to call it proceedings. But like that's a guy that never reached stardom and was taken very, very high. Spencer Knight, he was his teammate at two World Juniors, Dustin Wolf, went in the like 12th overall. And he's not even the league right now.
Starting point is 00:26:31 And Wolf, like, he's a seventh rounder that may be a number one in this league. That is such found mine. Win. Huge win. Yeah. Yeah. But you're, you are right.
Starting point is 00:26:44 People are, for whatever reason, really want to have a final say a final grade on this guy after 14 friggin starts yeah 14 starts like and go ahead 500 in his career he's 7 7 and 1 in 15 games you want to talk about the caliber of of team he's played in front of it was meaningless game 82 last year and mostly since they deleted hanathan and tanav here this year like 500 in front of that with that team in front of you that's pretty damn good for me and i would think the expected goals numbers would would reflect that as well. It's been a tough environment for anyone. That is our opening statements for McLeod Law. Shane King is a partner in the litigation and

Starting point is 00:27:56 You're going to have to send a sonar out here to our buddy Frank. Oh, yeah. Frank Singer-R-Rally. See if he's going to join us. Anyone watch the Masters? Anyone? I got to last.
Starting point is 00:28:11 God, you know what? Antclamatic. Someone said it, it's like, God, is the master going to me? It's like, yeah, but is it because you can nap like unbelievably? Or added on, you're just dialed to the action. Like I was, oh, did I have a great like 25 minutes apper. So epic for mapping.
Starting point is 00:28:27 It is unbelievable. It cannot be. And there's even less commercial time in the masters because of the way they structure it. So it's just more of the goddamn piano and soothing voices. I was out cold in no time. It was perfect. Just put it on repeat. Yes.
Starting point is 00:28:42 Kids are playing mini sticks behind me. I wake up. Video games are going on another floor. I'm like, okay, I guess I've lost a quarter of an hour there. it makes you want to golf though right just to be in that place yeah oh man yeah i'm pretty i can't wait to get out there it's going to be great going to get the get the clubs out it's going to be great then you get out there and you realize i'm not scott shodd mollberg on the first tea he's sliced that into the water fountain and there's thrown his club club when he's not golfing again
Starting point is 00:29:12 for the rest of the year he's lost you next year d four balls on the by the second and hole. He's completely frustrated and pissed off. And thanks for joining our coverage of Boomer's back in golf, 2024. It's a great, it's my favorite turn. And I guess it's because it's early in the season, but it does feel like you have more time than ever
Starting point is 00:29:39 to sit and let the, and glaze over. Yes. Oh, you're not. Yeah. It's so rushed for. Yeah, it's the TV contract. It's the time of year. It's the excitement to get the hell out of winter in this
Starting point is 00:29:50 part of the world. And it's also not at like 3 a.m. when you're watching the British Open, which is basically the same, but just, you know, the hours don't work. It's not the British Open anymore. It's always been the Open championship, but you know what I'm talking about when I said a British Open. People do love to froth though. People love to froth. A bunch of frothers out there. And maybe if you were, maybe you needed your Douglas mattress. Maybe you'd get up from the coach and just slide right into the big old Douglas mattress. Starting point is 00:31:16 That's a $650 value. that is yours free when you order now at Douglas.ca.ca. slash flames nation. Douglas.com slash flames nation. There you go. Made right here in Calgary. I've got an update of some sort. Have we got an update? Updating on what?
Starting point is 00:31:37 I've got an official update. This from Jake Gouda. The Yukon men's basketball team has four wins and the White Sox have two since opening day. White Sox are having a tough go. Our boy, Soroka. Did anybody, sorry, I'm interrupting you there a little bit. Did anybody watch the NCAA Frozen 4 final? No, I heard it was awesome.
Starting point is 00:32:00 Denver again. And what is that, three and seven years, 10 all time? D.U. Pioneers. And that was the first game that that line for Boston College was held off the score sheet ever. Ever? Because I think it's three guys that are either drafted or, we're going to be drafted really high.
Starting point is 00:32:18 It's. Ever, ever? Is that Cutter Gochay? That's the, what's cool? The mean, cool, ice cold. Yeah. That's a cutter.
Starting point is 00:32:25 Cutter sign. He was in Anheim. Let's find when Anheim's going to Philly next year, Dean, because you know the city a bit. Yeah. And I want to see people throw batteries at opposing players. Ryan. What? You don't think that'd be a good game to go to?
Starting point is 00:32:38 Ryan, I'm not going to throw anything. It's not necessarily reflect those of Barnburner or Flamesation. Well, it's a reflection of the fans in Philly, Dean. Well, don't throw batteries. You can. Well, they do. Hurl obscenities.
Starting point is 00:32:50 How about that? They will. I can guarantee you that. I'm telling you. If you had to pick 10 games off the schedule next year, there's no way you could take that out of my top 10. Cutter Goce, going back to Philly of all cities.
Starting point is 00:33:01 My God. Yeah. No, they'll be sour. They'll be throwing gas on that fire leading into it. They will be sound. I'm not talking about that guy. Are we done here? And torts will still be there, right?
Starting point is 00:33:13 Oh, yeah. A rough go for torts. It's been a rough go for the flyers. If they did the season backwards, everyone is absolutely in love with torts. It's just the problem was that the hot first half. That's true. They were never that good. Did lose a goalie.
Starting point is 00:33:26 Yeah. And like, no one, this is a team that you probably would have had plus money to just make the playoffs. Never mind, you know, the good first half they had. Yeah. Yeah. I think you got to go to the Pender report. I was going to say, nowhere from Frank. I, uh, oh, hang on.
Starting point is 00:33:45 Is it a holiday there was? No, no, no, no. He, uh, he forgot. No. We've had communication with Frank. We've had communication. And in fact, we have a Frank Serravelli sighting. Where is he?
Starting point is 00:34:01 No need for prayers, thoughts and prayers, teas and peas. And we have found Frank. All is well. We'll find out in a matter of moments. But we go to the insider hotline, a presentation of Tell us, entered to win one of six monthly prizes, including tickets to Calgary hockey games. Awesome. tech like AirPods, Apple Watches and more.
Starting point is 00:34:21 No purchase necessary. All you have to do is fill in a quick survey to enter for your chance to win. Go online, tell us.com slash flames contest. Good day to you, sir, Frank, Sarah Bellet. There is. How we doing? I'm sorry. I got so horny for lunch.
Starting point is 00:34:38 I just was like, boom. Click the X on my screen. And I was just there's thinking about lunch and what I was going to order. And then I did so. What did you get? What are you going with? What do you got? There's a fantastic Jewish deli around the corner from me.
Starting point is 00:34:54 I went hot pastrami sandwich with American cheese, a deli mustard smear, as well as a side of potato lotkeys. Oh, any dipping for the potato lotkeys? Sour cream. Yes. That's well done, Frank. It's, I mean, I told you, I was horny. I missed it. I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:35:17 I didn't have a great chat here hanging out. There's something about Philly. The food is, it's terrific. I mean, I know I'm fat all on my own, but it doesn't help. It's not your fault. This is not a bad place to live when it comes to food.
Starting point is 00:35:37 Because, I mean, you're talking pizza. You're talking sandwiches, the cheese steak. I mean, it's. Dude. Yeah. I had an unbelievable white. pizza last night. Something Canadian people don't know anything about.
Starting point is 00:35:51 Please explain. So it's no sauce. And sometimes there's like a little light dusting of like olive oil. Yeah. And then you go cheese and you go garlic. And it's just, just chef's kiss. It doesn't seem,
Starting point is 00:36:11 I know, Canadian people are like, what in the F are you talking about? Like pizza. Sounds like those pizza sticks. And you know those can be good if they're done right. That's what it's a whole weird. It's it's it's my crack cocaine.
Starting point is 00:36:23 I had one. It was, it's that place that I took you to retro one time we were in Vegas. He's a Buffalo guy that now moved to Vegas. He was one of the head chefs or something at one of the casinos and then just started his own place. Naked city pizza. Was that on diners? It was on diners.
Starting point is 00:36:40 See, look at that. You can't look. I just right. There's drive ins and dives when you said it. And I saw it. I'm like, I got to go to this place. He does the square. pizzas and he has the one and it's got
Starting point is 00:36:50 it's like a white sauce but he's got meatballs on it. It's a, I don't know if it's a buffalo thing, but it was his thing. It was called the Guinea. That's that's that's, that's slander. Yeah. That's I know. I understand. That's what I'm telling you if you go and just I wonder what that pizza was called.
Starting point is 00:37:06 That's what it's called. And yeah, it was the white, kind of a white cream thing. I'm like, I don't know if I'm going to, I'm going to try it anyway. Delicious. Frank, we're going to take you to Caesar's here because. Oh, yeah. I've been to Caesars. And the cheese bread?
Starting point is 00:37:20 Oh, yeah. Okay. Yeah. I don't mess around, man. I've been around the NHL circuit for 15 years now. I could tell you places in every city. Is the saloon still open in Philly? Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:36 That's where we used to hang out when I was with the Panthers. Oh, yeah? You went to the saloon? There's been many people known to hang out there affiliated with, organized crime. Is that right? Rhett? I like to be in,
Starting point is 00:37:54 wow, an expose here live on the show. Well, we'll get into the hockey, but there was a lot made recently about your jacket and how I was hanging on to your jacket. I wasn't going to give you back. You came out for the pond hockey tournament
Starting point is 00:38:13 in Jasper, you brought your jacket, it was left in my vehicle, you flew home. I flew to Toronto with the jacket, left Toronto, leaving the jacket with you, except I had taken the wrong jacket. I took my wife's Canada Goose Parka,
Starting point is 00:38:30 not your Canada Goose Parker, and yes, a lot has been made. But everyone, so you went to Philadelphia for wrestling. Did you get Frank his jacket? Did Frank get his jacket? Well, here's,
Starting point is 00:38:42 let's take a look at the adventures of get Frank his jacket back. Operation, get Frank his jacket back, is officially on. Not the best day, but we have to get Frank his jacket. It's a five-hour flight, but we are determined and ready for the task at hand. No pretzels or cookies, but coffee on board, and it was delicious. Watch some episodes of Curb Your Enthusiasm. I love Curbier Enthusiasm.
Starting point is 00:39:17 Larry David, so funny. Still a long way to go. It is kind of boring, but thought I. would do some light reading. The Airbus A320, a lot of very interesting facts here. Worth the read. A wonderful day for air travel, and on a trip of this length, sometimes you'll fly over cities that you've only ever heard of. Wait a minute. Shaboiegen? Yeah, we sold about 623 copies of that. In Chicago? No, Sheboygan. Very big of Sheboygan. Starting to make our descent. Must be close now. Hang on, Frankie Boy. We're on our way and touchdown.
Starting point is 00:39:56 Hello Newark. We've made it. We're feeling good now. Just need to hope that the suitcase has made it. Very nervous, very nervous. But then there it is. Oh, we're so close now. Off to Steve's Prince of Steaks in the rental car and away we go.
Starting point is 00:40:17 Goodbye, New Jersey. Next stop, Philly and Frank. And what's that order? double meat American without. Oh, mama. And a cherry soda. This is how you do it. My kid was very excited.
Starting point is 00:40:38 And then it was off for some water ice over in Ritas. Chocolate peanut butter. My kid was very excited. And then the moment of truth. Yes, yes, yes. We're back, baby. Mission to conference. So there you go.
Starting point is 00:41:27 Though behind the scenes, real life, we're just like you and everybody out there. How's the jacket doing, Frank? It hasn't left the closet. But at least it's back in the proper country. First off, and second, I would say,
Starting point is 00:41:45 man, that that cheese steak just, when you see it from the side angle, you're like, holy crap, how do I do that? And then. Yeah. You feel pretty bad about yourself. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:58 You said it was without. What does without mean? Onions. Without onions. So that's, there's the language you have to speak, right? Exactly. Technically, it's wit out.
Starting point is 00:42:08 That's how I was going to say, because when I went, the first time I, it's cheese steak and then it's wit, with, American wit, whiz, wit, whatever, provolone or whatever it is, and then with, wit or without the onions. Never forget the first time I went to a real cheese steak place. I think I was like four.
Starting point is 00:42:30 And my mom was like, let me show you how it's done. And she went up to the counter and like spoke some language I never heard of before. And then it was like, you have to order that way or else they just laugh at you and maybe spit in your food. And then what was the place you sent me to in the market?
Starting point is 00:42:46 Oh, De Nix roast pork. you got to go roast pork with broccoli rob long hot and sharp prevalone yeah and that's I read it verbatim off the can I have the roast pork with provoelope sharp provolone broccoli rob and a long hot I don't know what that is but I'll have one of those please and it was terrific next it was terrific yeah so good do the onions or do the onions just kind of take down for the count. I can handle the onions. It's the differences each place does their onions differently.
Starting point is 00:43:25 Like Steve's Prince of Steaks, one bite and you're a loyal subject for life, you know, they have theirs like squared off and they're caramelized so they're good. But some places are like rawish. Some are long and scraggly. Like I just, I'm a texture guy. I mean, if I'm going to get onions, I got to know what I'm looking at. I hear you. I hear you.
Starting point is 00:43:50 You ever tried making them at home? We'll move on. We'll get to hockey here. But have you ever tried doing the, I guess, why bother when it's right there for? Why would you? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:59 It's one of those things. Because it's all I've thought about since I got back is how am I going to make, I got to try to make one of these things. It's kind, well, it's, it's problematic.
Starting point is 00:44:07 And I, you guys are going to laugh because I played in, in a charity golf tournament, uh, last fall. And the tea gift, such as it were, was it.
Starting point is 00:44:17 an uni pizza oven. Yeah. And it's sat in my garage in the box since then because, first off, I'm liable to light my entire house on fire. Right. Second, you go nuts trying to get the ingredients, do it right, not burn it, all this stuff. It still costs money.
Starting point is 00:44:39 I could drive down the street and get the best pizza on the planet for 18 bucks. Why be an amateur? Yeah, all that work to finish fourth or fifth place in your neighborhood. Screw that. Fourth or fifth, I'd be like 67th. Like, what do I need that for? You're the sharks. So what are they doing?
Starting point is 00:44:57 Welcome to Sandwich Talk with Boomer and Reds. Like the one you had there, the double meat and was it American? Double meat liquid American. Yeah, so how is it so melty? Because the bun is still soft. They keep it in that vat of whatever that is. It's just like heated all day. It's just a liquid thing of cheese.
Starting point is 00:45:20 It's just an absolute artery clogger. I saw something today that actually it put the fear of God in me. Someone tweeted something like, have you ever heard of the phrase disease through the gums? And I was like, no. And then I was thinking about it. And it was like, you ever, do you get plaque on your teeth? And like, I guess occasionally like anyone else.
Starting point is 00:45:42 And then I was like, am I more, do I have more plaque than others? this mean I have plaque in my heart? Am I going to die? We're all going to die, Frank. I got bad news. I know. But then like, you guys are laughing, but like my buddies are making fun of me? They're like, are you going through a midlife crisis? I said, I don't know. Am I? And my wife said, well, 35. I mean, it's going to get there. Yeah. Denial. That's the first step. 35 for you. That probably is midlife is what she said. Oh, geez. And I was just like, I never really thought about it like that. Holy shit. I'm having an existential crisis this weekend. Yeah, it happens, Frank.
Starting point is 00:46:17 Eat your way through it, Frank. That's right. And like I just say, just push all those feelings down. That's right. All the voices in your head just push them down. Well, that's why I eat in general, but I would say I'm not fat. I just have more fun than you. Yeah. More than fun than me. Witt. That's debatable. I mean, no one really has more fun than Pinder. We all just try. We'll get the hockey. We've been, now our buddy Jack instead of he's a big. I give a shit meter, unfortunately, is higher than pinders,
Starting point is 00:46:47 meaning like I can't just sluff off the rest of everything else to have fun. I have the actual. I'm in the lobby? What are you talking about? I have actual responsibilities. I've tried to keep those to a bare minimum. We noticed. We've been keeping an eye in the east because our buddy Jack is a penguins fan.
Starting point is 00:47:08 And we're kind of pulling for him and for Sid to get in and that. And again, you wake up this morning. and Washington is in the second wild card. Washington, they've gone two, five and two in their last not. How are they still in the second wild card with two wins in their last nine games? Because I feel like the penguins have been red hot. How? I mean, what, what, what, what are we water, water, what are we missing here?
Starting point is 00:47:39 It is a complete, whatever you want to call it, a turtle derby to get into this spot. and it's still, I still want Pittsburgh to get in there. But I, I'm stunned by the capitals and their ability to hang in there, I guess, because they've not looked good for so long. I've been, anytime the caps absolutely must have need a game, they've found a way to do it. And that part has been really impressive this season. They have, there's been zero quit.
Starting point is 00:48:04 And that kind of brings us to this amazing thing about the Flyers, which is if you have the Penguins, caps, and Red Wings all lose in regulation, that means Flyers' caps on Tuesday is win and in. Whoa. Which is insane. We thought Philly was dead. Insane.
Starting point is 00:48:24 So let's, you know, I just thought of this on the fly. Let's have a draft, okay? For these four teams, I just plugged all four of our names into a randomizer. Okay. And Rhett has the number one pick. Of these four teams remaining, Rhett, Penguins, Islanders,
Starting point is 00:48:43 sorry, Islanders are in. Penguins, Capitals, Flyers, and Red Wings. Who is your pick for the eighth seed in the east? Who do I think's going to get there? Who do I think? I think Washington's going to do it. Okay, so Rhett chooses Washington. The second overall pick in the 2024
Starting point is 00:49:03 Barnburner playoff draft belongs to boom. I will take Pittsburgh. Okay, I got three and I'm going to go flyers. Perfect. So that leaves Pinder with the wings. Wings have a home and home tonight and tomorrow with Montreal. Have you seen the way the Habs have been playing the last couple of weeks?
Starting point is 00:49:28 I get it. But I'd rather have that than Boston, who Washington has to play tonight. And Washington, sorry, Boston is playing for something. They're trying to reel in Florida or secure top seat spot in the Atlantic. I don't know that there's a better on. paper schedule than the Red Wings, I'll take through Detroit. Fell under your lap. It really did. I thought
Starting point is 00:49:47 it was cooked. Washington's won three of their last 10, Detroit 3, Philadelphia 2, and the Penguins are 7-1 and 2 in their last 10, and were in a playoff spot, but have fallen out of it. It's like, do we need to actually go back and watch that these games actually exist?
Starting point is 00:50:07 This is actually happening, because it does not seem possible. The reminder is that a team might get in the playoffs with less than 90 points. And this really is a... Oh, yeah, it's not the least contest. There is not a good team getting in here. It is the best of the rest getting in. Now, someone did send me a link over the weekend to professional pillow fighting.
Starting point is 00:50:28 I didn't realize that was a thing. It's kind of like the slapping. How are the uniforms, Frank? They actually wear like UFC gear, like... Come on. That's disappointing. Shorts and stuff. I don't know. It's very odd.
Starting point is 00:50:41 And there's like a ring and everything. I did not know that was a thing. But that's kind of what we've been watching. And I don't know how to feel about any of it, to be honest. Yeah. I think if it's Sid, we'll be excited. But other than that, it's like, yeah, it's not a good hockey team that's getting in there. What do you make, just kind of moving on, what do you make of Colorado's weekend?
Starting point is 00:51:03 They get rolled up 7-0 by Winnipeg Saturday afternoon. And then last night, have a 3-0 lead early in Vegas. and then lose four to three in overtime. Sources say not good. Yeah. I thought what was most fascinating was that their coach, Jared Benar, was publicly critical of goaltending. Now, not a shock when you're giving up goals like that.
Starting point is 00:51:27 And they've been outscored by a significant margin against the top teams in the West and in the last four times they played them. That said, it feels to me like a deadly combination for them. Not only has Georgiev not played well and his numbers aren't great, 897 on the season, but he's also played the most games in the NHL, and they've been trying to spell him over the last six weeks with Eustace Annen,
Starting point is 00:51:53 who's been fine. But my God, that doesn't leave anyone feeling any good about anything heading into the playoffs. Yeah, because I did, on one hand, it's here's a team that's cruising. You don't worry about them. it's the last week of the regular season, they'll be fine. And then it's the flip side,
Starting point is 00:52:12 like you say, well, everyone's been talking about if there's one, you know, if there's an Achilles heel that's going to be, that's going to pop up, it might be a net, and the goaltending got lit up on the weekend by two teams that one they're going to face in round one and the other one they might see down the road if they get there. Typically, I would agree with you and say that that could be their
Starting point is 00:52:32 or would be their Achilles heel, except they won a Stanley Cup with totally, totally average goaltending. Darcy Kemper entered the 2022 Cup final with an 8 something save percentage. Yeah. The thought is they've done it once without getting more than just
Starting point is 00:52:49 okay goaltending. Could they do it again? It just looks like a tougher path this year. Now they've got to start on the road against Winnipeg. Maybe. And you're running. No, that's true. I mean, they have one game left and they're one point back. Winnipeg's got two. But they're not in the driver's seat anymore. They're more likely to start on the road than have home ice. And your face of Connor, hellabuck,
Starting point is 00:53:05 and round it on. Like there's a clear edge of net there. But how about this? They've also gotten shellacked by Winnipeg this season. The Jets were 3 and O against Colorado outscoring them 17 to 4. It's like the Edmonton Vancouver thing. It's a weird matchup, hey? It doesn't. And by the way, they've gotten romped the Jets have by Dallas all year.
Starting point is 00:53:28 0 and 3 against Dallas, 3 and 0 against Colorado. Someone helped me make sense of that. Well, I think the flames are 3 and 0 against the Jets too, which is not insane. Not that they're in this conversation. but weird season series. That flames just made a signing, by the way. Who is it? Voltaire Ignatju.
Starting point is 00:53:45 What do we know? Philpilla. Nothing. It's a little longer in the tooth. I was actually going to say we could have College or Europe. pronouncing that. Retro.
Starting point is 00:53:55 Just your thoughts, I mean, Colorado, I, we love the avalanche. They're going to watch them because Rantan and McDavid or McKinnon and Cariam. That's, that's how they're going to. to win, don't pretend that the goaltending is going to be the difference in winning and losing.
Starting point is 00:54:10 Like, if their goaltending can be average, they're going to have a chance to win. But I think all those teams at the top of the West are good hockey teams. I think Colorado and the Jets are good. There's no reasons that Jets can't win. Colorado, just one. So there's still, we love them. The Jets are good. They're deep.
Starting point is 00:54:29 Like, they're, they're going to be a tough, tough out. Ellibuck is elite as far as the goal. They play a different spot. they're not going to have a flashy guy. Like there's only one McKinnon. There's only one Rantinan. It's just different hockey. Shut those guys down.
Starting point is 00:54:44 You're going to beat Colorado. Yeah. I think Colorado, like you, to your point, it's nobody has McKinnon, Rantan, and McCar. No one has those three, like you've got a hasten insurer. Bouchard's nice, but no one has those three players of that caliber in the West. It's, you're going to have to make it up on the goalton side if you're going to beat this team. Colorado, 39 and one at home.
Starting point is 00:55:08 home 19, 16, and 6 on the road. What are they at home? 39 and 1. I thought you said 39. That can't be. No, 30 of their 49 wins. And there's not, and the McKinnon point streak at home,
Starting point is 00:55:25 like they've been damn near unbeatable, but now you give up the home ice potentially to Winnipeg. Does that change things? Yeah. Anybody else, anything else going on? I don't want to keep you for. Just real quick. What needs to get ironed out to close off the Arizona to Salt Lake thing,
Starting point is 00:55:43 or is this just already done and the rest is just lawyers bickering? I'd like to say it's already done. I mean, the template of it has been agreed to. I think the language is going to be really key, and they've got to do, the NHL has to do whatever they can to make Alex Maruello happy because they need this to happen. So he's going to want language that's ironcloth. lad in his ability to get a franchise back in Arizona in the next five years.
Starting point is 00:56:16 But how much is the NHL willing to guarantee that, I think is a really big question because I think we all see the writing on the wall of, you just got out from under this guy, why would you want to hop back in bed with him in five years? And by the way, have you seen the, did you see the memes going around over the weekend? Did you see their statement that they sent out that was like in all caps with like a really basic font? Well, someone like AI generated. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:56:47 Someone then re created the same thing. But with like hilarious stuff in there, if I can find it, I'll read it for you. I mean, I laughed out loud. Maybe I'm an absolute simpleton, but I laughed out loud yesterday for like two hours of just watching that statement. Yeah, it's kind of easy And there's a lot of people That are really taking pleasure And dancing on the grave
Starting point is 00:57:13 Of this whole thing I'm laughing at the incompetence Of their ownership Which is totally different than what I feel about The emotions of that That fan base losing their franchise Can I read this real quick or no Sure
Starting point is 00:57:26 The Arizona Coyotes are going to build An Entertainment District with 65 ice rinks A Subway Sandwich Restaurant The finest sidewalks money can buy and new living quarters for my large adult son. Attend our exclusive Coyotes X fanatics apparel pop-up activation at the Scottsdale Fashion Square for a chance to win 5% off Southwest Airlines tickets to Salt Lake City in October.
Starting point is 00:57:51 The lucky winner will also receive a signed portrait of Howler the Coyote standing next to CEO Javier Gutierrez. I couldn't write that if you gave me two years, let alone some guy just turned that around in five minutes in his basement, like just in the same font, I just like, so good. And what is howler going to do? I didn't even know that there was a howler. You know, it's, he's dead.
Starting point is 00:58:18 He's going to have to be reactivated in five years maybe. Yeah, sad, sad, sidelie off the cliff, Wiley Coyote. He's just blubbiting and free fall for five years. All right, Frank. So what, now you are Canada bound still. Is that the plan for round number one? Yeah, Western Canada bound. I am heading to Vancouver.
Starting point is 00:58:39 There you go. Franks are a valley. Yeah. That's a good time you're to be in Vancouver, Frank. Don't be gone for too long because I'm coming your way with a bottle. Oh, yeah. Yeah. I'm getting pregnant too.
Starting point is 00:58:54 It's that 18th month that typically he pays this stuff. I made it. I made this one for you. I've let it. Yeah, he's been into the sink in a spare bedroom for a while just fermenting. He's almost done. Rett is to paying his debt. as Alex Maruello is to pay.
Starting point is 00:59:09 Oh, dear. Watch it. Cut them on. Cut his, cut his Mike. Thanks, Frank. Thanks for popping in. There you go. There you go.
Starting point is 00:59:18 God, serious slander. Enter to win one of six monthly prizes, including tickets to Calgary hockey games, awesome tech like AirPods, Apple watches, and more. No purchase necessary. All you have to do is fill out a quick survey to enter. For your chance to win,
Starting point is 00:59:31 go online, tell us.com slash flames contest. Frank Cerrevelli Daily Faceoff and our hockey. I feel like I want to make one of those I'm going to try those sandwiches tonight. That's a problem though. Can I talk? Just when you feel better because I don't want to be around you.
Starting point is 00:59:50 I know, yeah. But when you feel better, I think maybe one day we do a bakery tour. Because we have to find the rolls. The rolls are the bun. We have to have the right buns and roll. Like there's no sense going down this path and putting in this time and effort.
Starting point is 01:00:07 If you're going to slather this stuff between two pieces of white bread. Like, it doesn't work. And it can't be, it can't be too dense. No, it's right? Like a faucage is really like dense. And it.
Starting point is 01:00:23 It's not chabada. Yeah, like chabada, you can't do that. And you can't do a, like a crispy roll. Because these ones that, they're like sponges. There's no crispy, there's not, no crunch to it. I know, buddy. I hear you. know that because of the altitude we're at,
Starting point is 01:00:41 it's difficult to make great sourdough here. And so if you can perfect, you have to change things. It changes the chemistry of how you want to get it. The water makes a difference. Yes, the water and the altitude because things boil a different difference. All that crap changes. If we don't have a good bread, Dino,
Starting point is 01:00:56 you can't start your sandwich shop. That's square one here on the bingo board. Does anyone have a bakery that we need to? There's one that I think is the best in the city by the model. now but now get this right because there's bakeries and are they bakeries sweets because we're not looking for sweets no we need someone to make us bread for yeah yes i've got one all right there is a no one cares about this shit i think everyone cares about this shit sandwich there is no one gives a rat's ass about the six five game yesterday all right there's a
Starting point is 01:01:31 pizzeria that i had first gone to when we were in new york in brooklyn it's called grimaldies now it's become a bigger chain. There's, you can go to, I think they have one in Vegas. They have a couple in, there's one in Scottsdale, there's one.
Starting point is 01:01:43 And they went to the, you talk about the water. Yeah. They went to the effort of determining what was in the Brooklyn water elements and stuff like you talk chemistry. They went to all this work. Rad pen crack and they got to throw that in. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:01:59 Yeah. And then set up a filtration system in each of their restaurants to mimic the water that that they used to make. make the dough for the crust of the bread. The sauce they could do, the sauce, the toppings, the cheese, that can all, that's all kind of what it is. But if you're making the dough in Arizona, it's going to taste different than it does in Brooklyn. Got to want it, Dean. That's commitment.
Starting point is 01:02:28 Bakery tour, hey? Yeah. Okay. Do we need a RV? Jack, can you drive an RV? No. I'm a terrible driver. It'd be good to have an RV, Dean,
Starting point is 01:02:40 because after you pig out at the bakery, quit nap, then hit the road. And I'll be drinking, so I can't be driving. We need Jacksonville. That's true. What are we going to do? Red and I are going to be asleep. We're going to have meat, sweats and be passed out
Starting point is 01:02:52 from eating all these hoagies. I'm playing dance music. Blackout drunk. Jack, you got to drive. Trust me, you don't want me to drive the RV. That'll spice things up. Let's get RJ. RJ will drive.
Starting point is 01:03:03 Yeah, I've seen RJ operate. I don't think I don't want him. I'm not sure that's the answer. I'll take the accidents rather than 10 under the limit. I can't be driving with RJ. Oh, dear. Let's get to the Pinder report. It's a presentation of Village Honda,
Starting point is 01:03:16 the 2024 Honda card redesigned last year. Chosen by Car and Driver magazine is the number one mid-sized sedan. One of the most reliable vehicles on the road. It's now better than ever. It's got that superior ride quality. It's reliability. It's impressive fuel economy, and it's all thanks at the EXL Hybrid.
Starting point is 01:03:33 Test drive one today at Village Honda, located in Northwest Automol online at villagehonda.com and Village Honda presents. Ryan Pinda. Ryan Pinda. And the Pender Report. Well, a heartbreaking win last night in a must lose game for the Flames Against the Arizona Coyotes. Let's go to Afterburner where the In the Dome Guys got to talking about the game when they were done making fun of people's appearance. Here we go.
Starting point is 01:03:55 If you're not worried about the draft position and you are of the belief that, hey, let the chips fall where they may, that's a really enjoyable game. I thought Coronado was really good. I thought Connor Zeri looked really good. Igor becomes the highest single season scoring Belarusian player. An awesome cadre was fucking awesome. Dustin Wolfe had some shaky moments, but he gets the win. So there's a lot to like about that. But that's kind of a tough one for Team Tank.
Starting point is 01:04:18 You're a big proponent of this anti-tank thing a little bit. So what do you think of the game tonight? I can't do it. It's not my nature. I don't think it should be in these guys' nature either. I mean, you see it when you're getting clocked from a team. It's a blowout. All you're looking, if you're a team.
Starting point is 01:04:33 team is to get a little momentum at the end of the game to take into the next game. You see it time and time again. So I think it's the same thing. You know, you're going from season to season. You're going to want to go into the off season with something substantial, you know, as a team, as a player, as an individual, to be able to, you know, prepare yourself for next season. Tough team take.
Starting point is 01:04:58 Fun game to watch. I think I agree with the fellas there. And Jordan played. I think was it BC League Jordan played in there? Yeah. And I definitely agree with the momentum thing in season. I just don't know that anything carries over from spring to fall as much as we talk about it. Especially if you're going to have a turnover on your squad. Especially if you move a Jacob Markstrom where you make it of the trade and maybe the guy you drafted jumps in.
Starting point is 01:05:19 Like it's a totally different season. And to be fair, there's been lots of shitty teams that have played fancy free for the last month. It doesn't mean shit the next year. At the end of the day, if you're not, I'm sure we'll do deep dives into this when the season wraps up. With this draft class, do we know that number four is clearly number four, number eight is number eight? No. Do you know what I mean? Like if there's five guys that are like, well, we're going to draft to our needs, the teams,
Starting point is 01:05:45 and there's five guys in that bucket that are kind of similar. There's no discerning factor that makes this guy number four and this guy number five, this guy number six. Then what the hell? Maybe who cares, right? Yeah. The one thing you'd hate is to really keyhole on a guy and be like, we can get him. And he goes one before you and you're like, shit. that can happen. It sure can. Because the guy
Starting point is 01:06:05 drafting, if you're drafting at eight or nine, it doesn't matter, the guy at four might take it. If those players in this draft aren't, if it doesn't differentiate that much. There aren't. And I'm, I'm looking at a bunch of different rankings and there's a lot of different guys of two, a lot of different guys at three, four, all the way to eight. Yeah. So. And so
Starting point is 01:06:22 the further down you fall in the draft, the more likely someone's going to snipe the guy you like the most. The good thing is, though, you know what, whoever they get, wherever they pick, they'll get the guy they wanted. Oh, yeah. This is the guy we had targeted. This is the guy we had.
Starting point is 01:06:38 Yeah, it's amazing. I can't believe he fell. This was our guy. Yeah. Fell to us. Can't believe it. The other guy that's ever dropped that ball? Tim Murray.
Starting point is 01:06:49 In Buffalo? In Buffalo when he got Eichol. You've never seen a guy so disappointed to get like probably a future home. This is our guy. I know. The rest of the hockey world really thinks McDavid is the B's knees, but we love this. character. It's a hell of a consolation prize.
Starting point is 01:07:08 Oh, it's going to spin out of my Jack! The odds decreased by 1% over the weekend as they fall to 9th from the bottom. Freaking Jersey out of there.
Starting point is 01:07:20 Jack, reload. You're not underwear shopping today. Hey, Jack, that's interesting. Buffalo. Finally catching a break. Poor bastards. 10 spots. Wow, that's not idea. He's picking a 10 there.
Starting point is 01:07:30 I don't know what that. All right. One more. There we are. Two. All right. That's real good. Real good. Love it.
Starting point is 01:07:40 Pick your favorite D. Go get it. Teage it to. Make the t-shirts. Hashtag. Tzmenko plus Vancouver's first to get into the top 10 so we can pick T-Gel later after we take a defense minute too. Come on, now, Connie, let's make it work. I don't know.
Starting point is 01:07:55 A new, new flame coming up. What do we got? It's clap on, clap off the clap cut. He's coming back. I thought a rather. pedestrian what four games already this year with the flames but make a statement strong year in the a they give him another spin here and uh you know the fellows are talking about you can't try to lose well no of course not players play to win but as a general manager you sure can get a look at the
Starting point is 01:08:18 kids and rest veterans that have nagging injuries and they've kind of been doing that a bit we've seen man japani sit for a while we've seen coleman sit for a bit we saw shillington miss a few games uh keep doing that you've seen everybody right and i know pelche is in the a and he's the only got That's where it's going to probably finish for him. But you've seen everybody else that I think that you're really, within reason, had hope to see. They played the kids. They played Wolf. I think they've done a good job.
Starting point is 01:08:44 Should we pump Coronado's tires? That was a hell of a shot. Hell of a shot. Yeah. It's a third that beat a goalie this year. But the shot tool is what's supposed to make him a lead. It's been a really, really lumpy year for him. Like it's a lot of time here, a lot of time there.
Starting point is 01:08:59 No minutes here. Lots of minutes there. Good to see him finishing the season strong. I'll say that. I like that he just said, I'm good to, yeah. Yeah, and it is the Rune dog over there. That's the right decision. 10 times 10, no decision.
Starting point is 01:09:11 Poor Rudy. What? Rune. Rune. Just catch him straight. Doing exactly what he's supposed to do. He's the best decoy in the biz. Look at him.
Starting point is 01:09:21 Stick on the ice. People thinking he might even get that puck. Ingram was kicking himself after. He's like, oh, Christ. If I don't know when it was Rooney, I'd have played the shot better than that. There's no way he's passing to the Rundon dog. And Rooney's been fine. No shots at Rooney.
Starting point is 01:09:33 It feels like a shot. No shots at Rooney. It's been an endorsement in the skill set of court out of sorry, Rudy. No, it was. I'd hate to hear what a shot at Rooney sounded back. Absolutely a four by four to the back of the head. This news just to happen as Frank was on, while Terry Ignatju has been signed by the Calgary.
Starting point is 01:09:56 Finish Netminder and a guy that stands 6'3, 200 pounds, played in Sweden. the second division, the Al-Svenskan this year and posted in 918 with four shutouts. Last year, 927 with four shutouts. All right.
Starting point is 01:10:15 Second division in Sweden, 24. There's clearly some tools they liked. Is it tools? And his name is Wall, like he's the wall. You know, it writes itself. There's a lot of letters from a Gnla in there, too. It's IGNA, close. Yeah, just spin it around, yeah.
Starting point is 01:10:32 You can't spell Ignat. without again. So, and look, they need someone for the American League to come in as a sort of a three, four. I think that Connor Murphy is probably a four there. Wolf has clearly graduated and I think they move one or two of Lodar and Markstrom this summer. Get a guy. You got a guy. Did the guy got a guy?
Starting point is 01:10:54 Get a guy. Next, schedule. Two games left. It'll be Vancouver tomorrow and San Jose here in Calgary on Thursday. That's it. that's all. Rhett saw you at the game. You were asking everyone else
Starting point is 01:11:09 if we went pretending you didn't go, but if you weren't at the game, then who's this? Because that's fours and that says popcorn. We know how you love popcorn. Talk about the butter? Layered and as big as you can get. And I might go to a movie tonight
Starting point is 01:11:27 and I'm going to absolutely crush a bag of corn. So that is you. And somebody's enjoying a malt there. Is she ever? Eyes closed. Oh, the moms. It's good. Delicious.
Starting point is 01:11:43 You heard the fellas on Afterburner mention it. Igor Sharon Govich becomes the highest scoring Belrussian in a single season ever. It's a Steinberg bomb. He passes Grabowski and Kostitzen. Same era is the Knots Dean and the Tens is the best Belerussian season ever for a forward. That's impressive stuff. It's been good, guys. That's going to be an 80-pointer.
Starting point is 01:12:10 I'll say that he could flirt with 40. Like, the finishing is awesome. And back to the wing, we're seeing it more again. I think if they could find a way to get him at the wing, you're going to love this guy. And I would absolutely talk extension with this guy, prioritize it over Kuzmenko because there's a little age and positional advantage for him.
Starting point is 01:12:31 Yeah, you love everything about it. he's he's come here he's fit in he's offence he's been a good he's been a good he's done whatever they asked him play in the fourth line center the first line sure whatever yeah and that goal he scored yesterday a beautiful goal we've seen him shoot it but even there that's hands in tight this guy you want this guy to be a part of your future for sure yeah and we remember we talked about this team in the offseason like geez like where's the high and skill well Connie there there's a couple there now that they can can beat you one-on-one. They can beat a goalie from distance.
Starting point is 01:13:05 Who's short of reaching their objection. Like, Coleman, Uighur is still a point goal? Wegener needs one goal. Coleman needs one. Dino, is that right? Yeah, Coleman's kicked up. Yeah. I know he won the Peter Marr good guy award for his, I guess, class and Peter Marr, good day. Gentlemanly behavior in dealing with the media. Second year in a row, well-deserved. Coleman, by the way. Yeah, so get those, you know, get those guys, let's get there. Come on, now. Well, and all of a sudden, And as Maudry's a goal away, fellas, because the heater he's been on, he's at 29.
Starting point is 01:13:37 Now, he had back-to-back 32 goal seasons in Toronto, but I don't even know if the most optimistic Codry fan at the time of the signing thought 30 was in the cards, what, 24, 26 last year, 26. I didn't. Yeah. First half. Steaming here. Steaming. I didn't realize he was up, but, I mean, I guess it just wasn't paying attention.
Starting point is 01:13:56 Yeah, 29 for him, 29 for Coleman. Get the 30, boys. Yeah, fellas, go, go get it. And honestly, now some, Codry. he took a lot of heat from this fan base, this program, and probably even in the organization for how it ended last year. He deserves all that more in terms of credit this year for how much of a pro he's been. And you look at the line that's been going. It's him at center, plus some guys. Somebody just made a good point. Is he being wasted here? I mean, is
Starting point is 01:14:21 train him? Yeah. I mean, we used to say about Evanston, like, man, they just needed some good pros around. And I feel like last year you wouldn't have said the vote in Aousand, but this year you are. Like, that's a good pro. I get that. But on his behalf, and, in all reality, he's again not going to be in your window. He's going to, if I'm there, I'm going. If he's a free agent next year, you're absolutely trading him. Like, you're not keeping him because it's like,
Starting point is 01:14:44 but regardless. As a player, if I'm thinking, I'm Nazim Khadri right now, and I'm going, NHL, good city, I like my teammates. The team I'm on this year, miss the playoffs. Yeah. And they might trade our number one goal. this summer.
Starting point is 01:15:04 It's going to get Vezna votes, yeah. Right? So what is, to your point, if I'm Nossam-Codry and we're doing a, sitting around the campfire with the family, talk about things,
Starting point is 01:15:14 what does this guy want? Yeah, and I guess what do you want and what are you willing to give up to get it is the other thing. Like he's not going to not show up and force their hand here. You don't get paid if you don't show up. But he will look around
Starting point is 01:15:26 and there will be playoff teams where he will be an upgrade on their second line center. Like Colorado, Casey Meadowstead, good young player. Cottier's better right now. And that's, it's an interesting conversation. The exit meeting with Conrad would be interesting because he's played his way into that conversation now.
Starting point is 01:15:40 Or it's like, maybe you could move him and you wouldn't have to tie him with an asset and even get an asset back. Yeah, like last summer. It was like, you can't move him because you're going to have to. Yeah, with a first. The money and add it. Yeah. Anyway. And there's still a lot of term left.
Starting point is 01:15:55 Either way, though, just tip of the cap. Been a great year for him. You know what, Red? We'll talk about, we'll revisit this down the road. Put a pin in that, Dean. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, we're going to put a minute.
Starting point is 01:16:03 I'm sure he'll have to be in that. Playoff race looks like this in the east. It is full, this is playoffs today if it started. Today. And Washington, does it start today? It does not. It starts Saturday night, the day after our playoff drafty,
Starting point is 01:16:17 which is on Friday, and that's the day after the season ends, which is on Thursday. Hawaiian shirt day. Yeah, that's a lot. That's good. Should I wear a white shirt to the draft? No. I think they would clash with my sequin blazer.
Starting point is 01:16:31 One, you said you bought a shirt, I did, I know. There's your East chase. We know Tampa's in. It looks like the islanders. I think they just need a point jack to lock it up. And so really what we have is four teams for one spot. Washington holds it at 87 points.
Starting point is 01:16:45 They have a tiebreaker against Detroit. They have one more point than Pittsburgh. Philly's got one game left. Washington, Detroit, and Pittsburgh have two. And again, Detroit, home and home with Montreal starts tonight. That's the best schedule left of the teams trying to get in. exciting finish. Should be.
Starting point is 01:17:03 Interesting what Frank brought up if that is a win in your in scenario. Well, and the last game here is Wednesday. Like Detroit and Washington will be done tomorrow night. They play back to backs. They play tonight and tomorrow, both those clubs. Wednesday, you could have Pittsburgh at the Islanders who don't need to win anything for the last playoff spot.
Starting point is 01:17:27 There's three good nights of hockey here. if you're okay watching these times. And it's going to get shitty out. So what are? They are. Yeah. Welcome back, right? Fifth winter coming right up.
Starting point is 01:17:37 Order just for you. NHL tonight here's the slate. A lot of these teams in action as noted. Right at the top. Wings at home to Montreal. Do you know? Islanders, all they need result here against Jersey. And that'll pretty much have their heels up, prepare for the playoffs. Pittsburgh hosts a Nashville team that needs one point to confirm they'll be wild card one, not two.
Starting point is 01:17:59 But I don't know if. if they care or not. Wild. Wild cad. And it is Washington hosting Boston. A Boston win here would go a long way, Jack. Yes, but we still need Detroit. Detroit's got a scuffle once here.
Starting point is 01:18:15 Yeah. Even if it's just a single loser point, something that. That's over. I agree. Beautiful. It's over. It's over. Where does the negativity come from,
Starting point is 01:18:28 Jeff? He knows that the only time he's negative about the Penguins, They turn around and win. So he's definitely playing into it. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's the happiness hitch.
Starting point is 01:18:39 And then finally, the other note in here, Rangers can lock up the president's trophy here with a victory against Ottawa. They will not be caught at the top of the standings if they get a win here. Impressive. Yeah. Hell of here. Yeah. Jack had noted to me that the Rangers are frauds before they rallied to win on the weekend. So he's doing everything he can to be to sway the honky.
Starting point is 01:19:02 They were playing someone in Washington maybe that you needed to lose. Islanders. That's what it was. Yeah. How about the Islanders? Now you had said they're in. They're not officially in, but they're in. It feels like you're going to be in.
Starting point is 01:19:15 It's a perfect storm to knock it in. It's crazy. The devil's tonight. Take care of it tonight. Yeah. And then they might have a meaningless game Wednesday night against Pittsburgh. That means the world of the penguins. That'd be kind of fun.
Starting point is 01:19:29 And it's like the Rangers. The last time that they won the president's trophy was in 19. for when they won the cop that year. Was that the year? Yeah. Keenan. How about it? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:19:40 Traded James Patrick, been there forever. Tough. Stought of a defenseman. You know, also got traded that year. Was Rasmusanderson's dad? Yeah. You went down to Florida, I think, at that point? Was Florida around in I-4?
Starting point is 01:19:51 It's a very fringe. Yep. Oh, that you're bringing up. Old man, played for the. There you don't know. You know that? It's right. Uh, you like free chicken?
Starting point is 01:19:59 Yes. Well, wait. We're not into the dumb shit yet. We're still in sports. is this okay. Ian, you like free chicken. Is this when I look away? No, this is good.
Starting point is 01:20:08 Now, the largest human I've ever met in my life is this man. I saw him in an hotel elevator in Boston that he had to like duck from. That's Boban Marjanovich. And he's what, like seven, four or five, something like that. He is a spooky looking individual. And I nearly shit my pants just being within two feet of him in an elevator. There is a promotion going on here at this game. It is the Clippers playing in L.A.
Starting point is 01:20:31 If a certain number of free throws are missed, whether it's why, guy missing both or the whole game or something i think it was if if somebody misses both free throws yeah then there's free chicken and so boban has got a chance here to be a man of the people eventually be some free chicken on the board if he misses the second free throw oh man's for me on the board yeah so that's why the fans are getting a little little floppy oh they're pointing to you think bovots play with the ground say you want chicken here's your job he's a man of people yeah he's a man of people yeah he's amount of the people. Now it does throw the integrity of the league into question. If he's
Starting point is 01:21:17 doing that for chicken, imagine the point shaving controversy. That's great. Someone needed an under on a point total. Now, do we know, does Boban enjoy chicken? Because if so, we've got a real controversy on our hands. There was post-game footage of Boban eating
Starting point is 01:21:31 a thigh and a wing outside the locker room. And Boban chicken inkstock rose 30% last night. It's in the house. Cavs were in action on the weekend. They were in Hamilton to face Stink and Forge.
Starting point is 01:21:47 Good start to the game, Dean. As we told you, Sergio Camargo, his 100th game as a member of the Cavs, the season opener this year. To defend in his club debut, sent in Moosey once again. Frampton's in. Headed on.
Starting point is 01:22:04 And Cavalry have a ball from a set place. Oh, they're booing the middle. What? Nice fans. It's Hamilton. They stink. I mean, I'm sure Brunt was there with a monocle and a pipe, but everyone else is a jerk in Hamilton.
Starting point is 01:22:22 They would come back and beat the calves. That one-nothing linked to not hold up. But look at the New Jersey's. They look pretty sick. That's the Blizzard kit we were telling you about. Look at that. Tidy Dean. Huh?
Starting point is 01:22:33 There's a lot of green. Well, green is their color, right? It's the collar and sleeves. I thought it was the red. Like red. Oh, green and red. Yeah, it's the two. Well, kind of making.
Starting point is 01:22:46 this up as you go, it feels like. Okay, year one, they had a red kit for home games and green for the road. Those are the two colors they started with at the introductory press conference. They had logos in green and red. I'm sorry. Let us move. I got Bowman written down twice. What do I have at 60?
Starting point is 01:23:03 I feel like I have something else. Oh, look at the NBA playing tournament coming. Oh, yeah, you people. Why don't we do this in the NHL? Because we really don't want to watch a playing game between Washington and Detroit. That's why. speak for yourself. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:23:18 Yeah. Wound up. Essentially, seven will play eight. The winner qualifies for the playoffs as the seven seed. And then the loser of the seven, eight, and it goes on to face the winner of the eight nine. Where that matchup is the eight seed each conference. Now, is that bracket accurate?
Starting point is 01:23:33 Because I know you're a bracketologist. Yes. This was not done by the CFL nor any interns or grandchildren of CFL owners. This is a proper bracket that's been done properly and has been put across someone's desk that knows what a bracket looks like and approved to be pushed out. sorry CFO it's not usually this season
Starting point is 01:23:51 we crush you that's coming up kick off in a few months yeah real soon that's right do you see your boy throw out the first pitch
Starting point is 01:24:00 in Boston this is grog is it no so Buffalo time yeah and why did I think he was going to pump a heater when obviously
Starting point is 01:24:17 in hindsight he was going to gronk spike it getting gronked it's very good is the team in on it or is this all grunt Oh, he's in.
Starting point is 01:24:27 They're in there. I want it to be all gronk and he's like, yeah, I guess that's cool with us. I never thought about it. Yeah. Very good. I like it. Can we get some reality TV or something with gronk? I need more gronk.
Starting point is 01:24:39 I miss them already. Me too. Like, let's go, buddy. Why is it like, why is the wonderful human? Some gets, get us some gronk content. It's free money. People that make content. Gronk content.
Starting point is 01:24:54 Cronk. Yeah. You guys. know how to do a backflip. Yep. Yep. This guy thinks he does. Let's check it out.
Starting point is 01:25:02 He looks like he's a climbing center. Oh, this is a box. So you got to bend over. Sock feet. We want to explode out of those stocks. Oh, no. Boy, that rotation did seem a little slow now that I. I think how not to do a backflip.
Starting point is 01:25:18 They got the clips mixed up. Yeah, they just, it's that AI caption. Never stood a chance. Like, never. Never close. Oh. Now, how about a kink in my neck? I don't know.
Starting point is 01:25:32 In talk. I sleep on it wrong. I what's going on here? I know you landed on it. How much dumb money did they have in the pot to try that? Like what? Dumb money. Man.
Starting point is 01:25:47 Leading on your head's not good. I don't like that. No. Now this guy had a serious risk on hand. Look at the size of this ramp. I don't know if we can back it up a bit, Jack. But I think this was part of that massive outdoor ex-gamy type things. Dan and I,
Starting point is 01:26:00 in Australia. And this guy is steaming down a massive ramp about to do some crazy trick. Oh, go to the bike, grab the handles, and now you've got to swing it around and land on it. Come on.
Starting point is 01:26:18 Nothing could go wrong, Dean. It's the Pinder Report. That is impressive a bike trip trick as I've ever seen. It's the greatest I've ever seen. And then look, as he flies by the camera, he knows he stuck it, tongue out. Wow.
Starting point is 01:26:33 The dismount, he nailed everything about that. Yes, the Selly. I mean, first off, how do you even practice this? Like, you die trying to perfect it. How close the tires are to his jib? Yeah. Look at that. That's true.
Starting point is 01:26:51 It's like he could lick the wheel there. That is insane. Now, much like there had to be some failures. Yeah. Along the way. Are we doing this off ramps into lakes? Like, how are you, cannot be doing this on land.
Starting point is 01:27:06 Yeah, your lakes or foam pits. Yeah, totally. You've got to be training with the freestyle skiers, the aerialists. Yeah. Second most impressive thing in the Pinder report. Can I just say this as well, though? There's not an amount of money that that person's making that makes that worth it. No.
Starting point is 01:27:23 Well, now that he's stuck the landing, he doesn't have to do it again, sure, but he'll try again and he won't land. He'll have a new trick that he's going to have to try. But what kind of dough are these fellows pulling in? I don't know. I feel like you could make some Tony Hawk. 10 years ago money, 20 years. M's hopefully. Because you're going to...
Starting point is 01:27:40 That health insurance ain't going to be cheap once they see what you do for a living month. That's M's. Fill this box. Do you have high blood pressure? Are you an extreme athlete? Oh, no. Oh, yeah, no.
Starting point is 01:27:51 A million dollars a month. That's tough. Second most impressive thing, Dean, in the Pender Report today. You know what? I'm turning away already. What? Turning away.
Starting point is 01:28:02 Why? One. The microphone that hear the tunes. What kind of mic is that, do you know, you call it a lab mic? Is that right? How many were in there? Well, not many anymore. There's only three left, Dean. It looked like... That's probably good. Oh, no more. Come on.
Starting point is 01:28:38 Oh! Oh, no, stop it! You're gonna get a belly ache! Oh, what are you doing here? You're gonna get a bellyache. Oh, that's probably not. Exactly. Oh, maybe more. Okay.
Starting point is 01:28:54 I don't know how that clip ends. I just saw the first 10 days. That's a lot of cholesterol retro. Yeah, that's too many eggs. That's a lot of cholesterol there. I don't know what happens to your body after something like that. They come out the same way. Fom.
Starting point is 01:29:06 Fump. Fump. Target practice. Grab your ankles. Lift up your hiny. Fomp. Fomp. It's good.
Starting point is 01:29:23 Special dinner. You want to. Hell of a gal. You want to cook. hell of a spread and impress people with your culinary skills. Celebrate a big night. Crispy. Oh, not even a knife.
Starting point is 01:29:39 Just sideways plates. Okay. Oh, yeah. Okay. Fill your plate, Dean. That's your Pender Report on a Monday. Suckling duck or big. We've got to play Tim's blackjack hand.
Starting point is 01:29:57 Oh, right. Wait. I don't know if I'm mentally in the right place. I did see one on the weekend. No, I'm not going to spoil anything, but I saw one on the weekend. I saw one on, like, Friday, but do we have a new one since then? I don't know. I don't know if this is.
Starting point is 01:30:10 Okay, well, we haven't since Friday show, so you're right. I don't think this is from Friday. Okay. Well, it's the worst $70,000. It's not. It's day 66 going to blackjack and bidding 10 cents fever. Instagram follower of God. We have 725,000 of you weapons in here now, so a $72,500 bet coming up.
Starting point is 01:30:27 I believe this is the fourth attempt at break-in, the half-milly mark. Let's get it in. All righty, it's day 66. We'll go 70,000 on the nose. 1400 on the 21 plus 3 and 1,200 on the piers. We have been dry rubbing the labia of the half-million dollar mark for some time now. And if we can win this today, we breach half the millie. Show me 10 out.
Starting point is 01:30:51 16 plays a 9. Oh no, you hate to see it, but we will hit. Maybe I should have stood and done the dumb thing. 19. Oh, we've gotten away with one, possibly. If she turns an ace, I'll shit my pants live on camera. Give her an eight. Job done. Half-Milly. Go. Turn it, turn it, turn here. No, yes, yes, yes.
Starting point is 01:31:13 Hark the Millie! That's half the fucking Millie! Oh my God! Now I may not be back tomorrow, but I will be back. And we will be bidding even more. And most importantly, up the fucking wards. Yeah, he loves the Warriors. Get the kit there. Where's Tinkarian?
Starting point is 01:31:34 He's in trouble for a while. 70 grand on a hand of blackjack. And Eclipse is a half million. Jesus. Because, yeah, I think I saw the one that was before that because I think he's on a bit of a heater here now. Two in a row, I think. I don't that I've seen him lose back to back.
Starting point is 01:31:48 And I'm not asking for it. I want him to keep rolling, but I'm just, come on, buddy. He's got to retire soon. What was he rubbing up against? There was something. Is that a, is that a Kiwi? Is that a New Zealand slang term?
Starting point is 01:32:04 I'm not, because the wa is. Jack, what was that? I, uh, yeah. Dry rubbing or something. It's a dry rub. I just make it cooking. Delicious. Oh, that's your Pinderport.
Starting point is 01:32:14 Oh, good. Village Honda, huge selection of used vehicles. They've got all makes, all models, all budgets over 90 units on site, access to more than 500 more inside the dealership group. That's why Village Honda is your one-stop automotive destination in Calgary. They are worth the trip, Village Honda, located in the Northwest Automobile. I'm still amazed by how the whole thing The stones on that guy?
Starting point is 01:32:37 Yeah. I'm going to, what did he say? It was a bit of a degenerate in the first place. So it just kind of naturally, yeah, got to where he would play some blackjack on the internet on his retro base. Are we going to start to cheer for him to just pack it in?
Starting point is 01:32:55 Because I want him to do well. He's a great. I love to have him. I just want him to cash out so we can go hammer pints at the ship every day at one. It shows over, but I don't know that he has any interest in that. Yeah, that's, again, you. Yes.
Starting point is 01:33:08 That's what you want. Yes. Rett's concerned about him and when he should cash out because he wants good things for him. And you've brought yourself into the equation. Well, I just wanted to cash out half a million. Right. That's right. Got it.
Starting point is 01:33:20 This will be kind of the last, uh, kind of the last stretch here, I guess. I, I know, I got to, I, I, I don't know with Wendy's and the survivor, daily survivor with Daily Faceoff, we're getting down to it. Starting point is 01:34:11 New York versus New Jersey, a New York win or a New Jersey win? Those are some options. Will Claude Giroux get an assist? Will Crosby get a goal? Will Kutrov get over a point and a half? Will Edmonton get over 34 and a half shots? You get, so you pick one every day.
Starting point is 01:34:27 there's 10 potential outcomes. Some of them can, maybe only one can happen. Maybe all of them can happen. You get it right. You move on to the next day. And then the next and you get points and it's on your Wendy's app. And then you turn that into real food. It's been happening all season long.
Starting point is 01:34:43 And it continues today. But you want to start today so that you can continue and survive. That's how that goes. Five hours, 13 minutes, 41 seconds. TikTok. On the clock. I like that Islanders win there. Like, he could just completely lock in the response.
Starting point is 01:35:06 Oh, you son of a bitch. He does disdain my existence. What? Just the mention of an Islander's win, Devils. And he didn't, that didn't miss a beat. He really does. Jack, what's so?
Starting point is 01:35:23 Hey, Jack, why do you hate Ryan Pinder? I thought that was Dean. No wonder. That's actually not Dean. Okay. Yeah. no jack's jack's the boss he's the one running the ship anything else going on
Starting point is 01:35:39 just getting a little more intel on this goalie the flame signed late bloomer love the kid goal of the year last two years one in the second division of finland now the second year in second division in sweden so yeah it's betrayed in murky totally yeah i uh mark for this very different trajectory all we can do is just kind of pick up the pieces and connect the dots clearly.
Starting point is 01:36:06 One more Markstrom start. Vancouver. Yeah, that would make sense. Yeah. It's a more on then. Yeah, and it's Wolf's hometown team. He's played against the sharks a bunch. I think it could be his fourth game out of 15 starts in his career.
Starting point is 01:36:20 Mm-hmm. Against the sharks. Well, you have any kind of emotions watching Markstrom play in what might be his final game. No. Nope. No. Good goal, it's under. and really liked them,
Starting point is 01:36:36 but if you don't have a playoff run, you don't develop connection with the players, I don't think. Yeah, if he and the rest of the team were better against Edmonton, then yeah, maybe this would have been that, but it wasn't.
Starting point is 01:36:47 Yeah. So, good riddance, that is what you're saying. No, I mean, look, I wouldn't be surprised if he's back.
Starting point is 01:36:53 I feel like it's close to a coin toss, if I was guessing. Or a Toyn Koss. Toyn Koss. I've never done that. It sounds dangerous. Yeah. No,

Starting point is 01:38:23 Yeah. Must be a hell of an act. No. So is Pinder really? Only all the time. Yeah. Only, yeah. Only always.
Starting point is 01:38:33 This Friday, we are going to be at the Griegle. Yes, sir. It is. And tomorrow. This Friday, we're going to be at the Griegel. It is our playoff draft. Started it last year. It's back.
Starting point is 01:38:55 We're going to have the big ballroom set up. We've got tables galore. We're going to have people milling about. And then we're going to do, like at the actual door, do a roll call or McLeodlaw. Here. Do the whole thing. Make sure everybody sat down. They're going to be fed.
Starting point is 01:39:10 They're going to be watered. and we're going to be ready to go. Who will pick first overall? Who will go first overall? Who will go last overall? Who will be the first player that will be drafted twice? And we will rain down F bombs and laugh and point at them in embarrassment. We'll all find out together on Friday night.
Starting point is 01:39:30 There is still room. Now, I mean, it's, I'll say this. Contact Eden at Kidsport and see if and see where we're at. And because it's, we're right there. But I'm telling you, if you have not got in yet, it's worth the email. It's worth reaching out. Most importantly, because we're raising money for kids sport. And I know in talking to Kevin, this is no surprise.
Starting point is 01:39:52 The need is greater than it's ever been. And they're having to shell out more than they ever have. So that's kind of what this is all about. But for one night only, we get to sit around and enjoy each other's company and laugh and have some drinks and talk hockey and all that. And that's what it's about at the end of the day. contact Eden at Kidsport Calgary. It's E-D-E-N at Kidsportcalgory.ca. Get your business.
Starting point is 01:40:17 If you're, you know, if you're one of these big hot shot oil companies, come on. Get in there. Let's go. Let's go off your wallet, you cheap ass. Get in there. All the money to Kidsport.
Starting point is 01:40:28 And we're going to have a heck of a time. Presented by our buddies over at McLeodlaw. They're involved in pretty much everything we do. Can't do any of this without them. And good to have back for the second year in a row, pay built right atop the sponsorship train. Thank you to everybody at paybilt for getting in and being a part of this as well as we do it for the second straight year over at the great ego resort and casino.
Starting point is 01:40:51 Also, we will have the BBB. Very excited. Very excited. Origin brewing, barn burner blonde. It's it's blonde season for sure. Are you kidding me? Yeah. It's blonde season.
Starting point is 01:41:06 And I'm told because we have to. there's some news or there's something going on with origin. Oh. I'd like to believe it's very exciting. Good. And to get ready. I don't know if that's just us inside. I don't know if that's for everybody.
Starting point is 01:41:23 But hey, how about you're sharing it? Yeah, I am. As it turns out, yeah. It's not like you said, oh, there's terrible news. I have to tell you. I went to an OG on the weekend. Oh, I picked up some triple Bs. Yes, I did see that.
Starting point is 01:41:39 Well done. But Mandeep didn't reach out at all. He didn't, eh? Nope. You went to, so tell us you were on that end of the city, I know. Yeah, I was in that end of the city,
Starting point is 01:41:51 and I needed a birthday present for a big human. Yeah, what's true? And so I was grabbing a Starbucks, and then I was going to grab some triple bees because I knew the boys at BK, had it lined up. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 01:42:07 What a hit. What a hit. BK. Beaufort Liquor, one of many places where you can, find the barn burner blonde with origin brewing and of course our, that's it's a barn burner.
Starting point is 01:42:18 It's the connection. It's our show. It's a show beer. It's our beer. We didn't brew it. It was better than they did that. Yeah, we left that up to them because they're good at it. We left everything up to them, frankly.
Starting point is 01:42:29 And that's why it's as good as it is because we didn't have anything to do with it. I don't know. There's the photographic evidence. There he is. There's a show. I've never carried beer like that over my shoulder. that's nice yeah very heavy though wanted to get it in the shot yeah that's like a lovely new sign there as well good work yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah check our socials for all the locations it's
Starting point is 01:42:54 suddenly a lot which is great which means no excuse if you're anywhere southern alberta there should be something nearby that's right slinging the double triple quadruple triple triple b if you're buying barn burner blonde you take a picture of it you send it to our social media accounts wherever it is Twitter, Instagram, we'll put you on the show. If you're a location, if you're, if you're one of the many locations like Pinterest says, and you've got, you've got it in stock, you've got it on display, you've got it on the shelves, you take a picture of the shelf, we're going to put you on the show.
Starting point is 01:43:25 If you're a restaurant or a, uh, a watering hole of some sort, and you've got origin on tap, you take a picture, you send it to us. We're going to put you on the show. God damn right. We're taking over, baby. take it over. And there is shipping internationally now. We're going to get some details on that.
Starting point is 01:43:43 That's right. Got it delivered to his bloody house in Buffalo. Shovelers just shotgun and burnt. Oh, yeah. Blonds. Right now just bombed. Just in Rob Ray's backyard around a campfire.
Starting point is 01:43:54 Stlamming. In the backyards. There's a fed. Stay out. You don't want to hang with their neighbors? God, you would. A pool.
Starting point is 01:44:04 Rob's a nice boy. That way. with Betway, you can get a free bet up to $200 if your first bet loses. We don't want that. Nobody wants that. But if it happens, here's what you do. Create a new account.

You can then use that again to bet on your favorite sports. Nice little deal there from our buddies at Betway. Offer only available outside of Ontario.
Starting point is 01:44:36 There are eight games in the national hockey. League. Here's what we're going with. Again, Jack hates this apparently, but the Islanders at New Jersey, the Devils are two, five, and one in their last eight. Islanders rolling. 6.0 and 1 in their last seven. Give me a regulation win for the Islanders plus 140. And I'm with Pinder on this. Boston at Washington. I don't, Washington. I don't know. Boston is just way better.
Starting point is 01:45:06 So win it in regulation, Bruins. and we're going to take some plus money. So those are my bets of the day. Boston can wrap up top seed in the Atlantic as well. With the win tonight, lots to play for their, Dino, they can get to 111 points. Panthers can't get there. They only got one game left,
Starting point is 01:45:20 and they would be three back of 111. There you go. Here's my bets of the day. Jack's going to hate this at the bottom. Sid and Gino to score goals plus 650. I mean, if the pens are getting in, is it not on the back of those two horses offensively? Let's go.
Starting point is 01:45:34 That's a big number. I like that. That's big game hunting. And then I like Artemi Paneran. as the Rangers can wrap up top seed in the entire NHO with a victory. That a two point night for Panarin will pay plus 105. Did you see him the other night, scored the tying goal late in the third with the goalie out and then. Isles?
Starting point is 01:45:53 Then did he have the, it was in overtime or in either way. Panarin, decent as it turns out. Good hockey still, the bread map. See, no, we're all kind of rooting for the penguins. Why is he going, you know, get an islander win? here and then he's taken, like, why was he not supporting your your pick? Why would he hate it that I had
Starting point is 01:46:14 that pick? Because he wants them to be cooked. If he believes they're done, then they got a chance. If he actually thinks they can do it, they're screwed. It's the full reverse. I actually think they're done now. You see, he's playing into it here. Like the math. He's doing me. He's a math guy. This is like week 17 Steelers football.
Starting point is 01:46:30 They need like four things to go their way. Some team can't tie. They're cooked. Yeah, they're done. I don't want to get politically. There was a conflict going on in the Middle East right now. And I saw a nice Steelers meme that had noted 99% of projectiles had been intercepted. And Antonio Brown said, yeah, they got Kenny Pickett over there shooting those things for us. Jack liked it a lot.
Starting point is 01:47:01 With Betway, you get a free bet up to $200. If your first bet loses, create a new account. Scan that QR code that was on your screen. Redeem your bonus. And if the first bet loses, you'll get a refund of up to $200. This offer only available outside of Ontario. It's Betway. It's our buddies.
Starting point is 01:47:18 Bet the responsible way with Betway. The official gaming partner of Barnberger. That guy's still so pumped, hey? Yeah. That's our Tim Nacky. He's just because of a heater. Yeah. He's excited.
Starting point is 01:47:31 Super duper excited. Yeah. Yeah. Is your boy still out, retro? Kid is here doing his homework. Good for him. He's definitely not watching you. No chance.
Starting point is 01:47:44 No. You should sneak in there. It's the name of those twins. They do the homework on YouTube. Right. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:47:52 Awesome. So it's a little father, son bonding time this week? Is that we over to this? I don't need to bond. All right. It's time. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:48:00 I can't afford to take my kids to WrestleMania like you. I bring them back here and let them do homework. That's right. Yeah. That's the story that everyone's going to believe. I did. My middle guy this weekend, he wanted to come. He said, why can't I fly?
Starting point is 01:48:13 I said, listen, because I was going to surprise him because he's a big Panthers fan. I don't want it. I was going to surprise you, but I was thinking maybe we'd go to Florida taking a playoff game. And Terros. Oh. Not unless it's a finals game, Dad. What? Oh, well, okay then.
Starting point is 01:48:37 Sorry. Wow. Oil. Bradts. Maybe. And there's Leaves round one. You can cheer on the least losing and the Panthers winning. Beautiful weather, sand on the beach, the rails swim, the Mexican place.
Starting point is 01:48:51 We must be doing okay as parents when, well, maybe, maybe the finals, maybe. We're talking finals, right? Let's get pretty far out, right? I guess we're okay. Back when we were kids, hey, do you want to meet Johann Garpenloff? Oh my God, that'd be unbelievable. That guy plays for the Panthers. DoorDash, restaurants, groceries, pharmacies, bakeries, flower shops, you name it.

We got to go right to the Eastern Conference playoff chase, amigos. And that means Montreal in Detroit. Original six matchup, wings close their season with two games in two nights in two cities against the habs.
Starting point is 01:50:01 Tonight's, the Michigan half, tomorrow, the Quebec half. Nashville's in Pittsburgh. That's also a five o'clock puck drop. Jack, it's over. You don't need to watch it. It means nothing. And Boston in Washington, where the Bruins. They'll be the team in yellow, black, the jacket is cheering for.
Starting point is 01:50:19 Also on the mound, we have Yankees blue Jays. Chris Bassett to the mound. Jays are 500 and the Yankees look good, Dean, like good without Garrett Cole. I don't like this. Blue it yesterday, but they have looked good, yes. I think I'm going to a game next week. That's what's on the menu. For DoorDash, Nation 25, that's your promo code.
Starting point is 01:50:41 Grab it and get that deal. 25% off in zero delivery fees and your first order of $15 a more. that for the win with DoorDash. DoorDash, everybody's doing. DoorDash, everybody's loving door. Dash that for the win. To-dipat-do. Tomorrow will be a Flames game day.
Starting point is 01:51:09 The penultimate game of the flame season. The Caducs still playing for something. They still are, yeah. Edmonton is five back, but they have three games remaining. They could pick up six points. A Vancouver victory will secure top seat in the Pacific. Go get it. Go get it.
Starting point is 01:51:33 Go ahead. Again, I was watching the Kudoxia. I have no emotion towards them. If they're going to beat Edmonton, I got lots of emotion for it. That would be great. Yeah. If you don't do that. Please.
Starting point is 01:51:43 And they'd be good at that this year. Four and O? What is the likely, because Frank's going to Vancouver? It's probably going to be. what we're Nashville. Yeah, it looks like Nashville unless Vegas reels them in, which is rather unlikely. Dallas isn't going to get reeled in.
Starting point is 01:52:05 No. So Dallas, Vegas, Vancouver, Nashville. That doesn't help. Vegas catch LA, could you? We need to cheer for Vegas against Edmonton. Yeah. And then the second rounder reward for the flames of Vegas could win it. And we do know, right, that it is going to be.
Starting point is 01:52:25 the, the Jets and abs. That is the only matchup, I believe that's set in stone. And it's, uh, home ice still being battled for one game left for the abs. They are one back of the Jets who have two games left.
Starting point is 01:52:37 So I mean, you know, we kind of, we kind of crap on Gary. Yeah. But as we get into the final few days of the season, only one playoff series is locked up. There's still,
Starting point is 01:52:47 we don't know who's going to have that second wild card in the east. And I mean, this is all Gary's doing. I mean, he's brilliant. He's writing the script every year. Good job, Gare. Wow.
Starting point is 01:52:59 Where to go. Unfairly, verbally abused and villainized. He's been villainized. Yeah, he has been undeservedly so. It would seem. Yeah. Sure. Villanized.
Starting point is 01:53:13 Sure. Vilified? Maybe. That's probably the better word. Yeah. Probably the real word. Jobbill note. Or an actual word, yeah.
Starting point is 01:53:23 What's up for the rest of the day, Pender? your phone's not ringing off the hook Friday it was a busy day for you yeah kids get out at noon Friday and the show's not over at noon there's there's a good 30 minute rodeo section in there I don't have a time I gotta work out today and then kids and grandparents are back so I want to pawn off one of the twins with them so they'd stop warring with each other to the death all the time boys why'd you have two of them yeah I don't uh the same age too i mean it's weird choice by you yeah one is two minutes older than the other so movie tonight boom what do you think uh okay so no yeah see you buddies
