And I went to checking the social media. I figured the new RET, the new gig. He's spamming us with all kinds of Buffalo updates. I think I saw Playto Wings. That was the only update all weekend. It's like it was a regular weekend in Buffalo and nothing had happened. Nothing happening in Buffalo retro?

But again, it was, I'm not going to critique this win. I know it would be, you know, glass half full of me, which I'm not at the, I just, I'm Mr. Positive. Hey, look, it's, we've talked a lot about process versus result. They got a result. And some of the process. process was good. But again, another two-goal lead blown and what are you doing goal for Markstrom? That seems to be hallmarks of the season so far. So is that, I was thinking about that.

Is that a bad goal? Does that count as a bad goal when it's a mistake behind the net? Oh, it's an awful goal. I just don't know that you put it in the same category as whiffing with your glove, right? Because it's very different. One's like, ooh, don't want to see that again. I think what would be more concerning for me about a glove whiff is like your job's to stop the puck and every goalie in the league is going to have a gaff or two behind the net at some point. He's already had two or three straight whiffs on point shots that were unimpeded. that would be more concerning for me because it feels like a trend whereas behind the net's just like he had the big save off

Schillington, whatever. Like, has he not built a really strong case to be next man in? I've liked him better than Mackey. Yes, 100%. Because you don't, and it's not just because he's fighting. You see him fighting. But it doesn't hurt. But you don't see him making the horrible mistakes that Mackey was making. The one period against the Devils was enough for Mackie to be like, okay, why don't you just go for a month to the A? I think

the waivers get involved now, but still, it's like, I think Gilbert's their best option of Stone and Shillington aren't here. Look at Typey Typerson there. Get your out of your phone. is not to get exploited by Barkov and Kachuk in these types of players. He hasn't played a ton. Like he's making a strong case to be their number seven or eight guy. I don't know how we put Chillingen into these things because I don't know if he's going to be here or not. Played 11.5 minutes minus one. I don't know. Got the scrap.

He's fine. Just don't be a complete greater. Don't screw it all up. That's the job for the 7, 8, 9, 10 guys. So what are we seeing with? Rizitschka. Is this a nice little run here? A big two-week run from a guy that comes up.

It happens. Sometimes guys get in and then they come back to where they probably should be. And then... Trying to think the last time happened to flames. I mean, the thing is, he's been up for a long time. And we had, we chatted with Connie last week and he was talking about like, man, this guy dominated in the American League. Like, he was clearly better than the competition.

And so some of it you have to think, okay, well, here's some opportunity now. You're not going to be out there with Lewis. and Luchich or, you know, not to slander those guys, but these are entirely different skill sets he's playing with. And to be fair, the type of player he's played with this whole career until he arrived at the NHL. So I think you're happy with that, but it's also a hot run. Like he's not going to average.

Four goals on 12 shots. Right? Like that's 33%. He's probably going to shoot around 12. And I was thinking kind of the same thing. When's the last time? And is it Sam Bennett? Scenarios are different, but the last time a new face came in,

played and found the net at this kind of a pace and not even to this pace. Yeah, Sam had that near 20 goal rookie pace. But that's, that's different. That's a number three overall, number one central scouting. Rizhka's been working for years after you're drafted. I know. Just in terms of seeing a new face come in from the farmer wherever and step in and make an impact. Honestly, it's a different position, but the way Stone stood up for this team last year

after hardly playing for like two and a half years, and you're like, geez, like, when's this hot chuggan and you're like, well, maybe he is power play too, guys. And then in the playoffs, he steps into bigger role. I think that's kind of similar because they've been around, but just not playing. Rozychka's going to be pumped to be compared to Stone. You're a lot like Stone. The guy who... PTO every year.

They're going to keep you around. Well, I don't think either of those are great cops, Bennett, nor Stone. But I don't know. You're used to seeing guys in Pittsburgh show up on Crosby's line of put up points, but not here. I'm saying it just doesn't have much. Young player prospect, not my... Michael Stone. No, fair.

Young forward to come in. He's five years old than better. So how much of this is sustainable, Red? How much of this is he's, well, stop, stop, because Manjapani did it. That's who did it. He kind of went one, four, line three,

line two. He worked in there and find his way and he's going to play on shitty lines. And all of a sudden he gets on a better line and he starts producing. And he knows, he's an NHLer and you got to rely on. He has been terrible this year, but he's going to get better. Why can't Ruzich can't, be that. That's fair. And you know what? Just like Rizitschka, he's had significant time in the American League and dominated at that level before earning his chance on a bottom line here and moving his way

up. I think that's a really good comp. I can't, I can't think that I'm brave enough to say he's going to be, well, I don't even know what his point per game, that he's going to be 60 points every year. But I, we said it. Connie said it. We've all thought it. It's nothing to do with skill set. No. Well, he's got eight points in seven games, right? So, you know, he's not a 90-100 point guy. Whatever. I know. But I just wonder.

But why not? Why isn't he a 70-point guy? I was going to say, as you watch him. Is a skill set not good enough? No. Just let me ask the question. Just hang on. As you watch him, I feel like we're not seeing him just getting backdoor tap-ins as the

other guys are doing all the work. Yeah, he's contributing. He's a part. He is very much deserving of the success he's having. What are you seeing is it you laughed last week at the at the chemistry line, but there's there's something kind of there. He's looking more confident. This doesn't, he's not going to score at this rate, but it doesn't feel like he's a week away from being back on the fourth liner in the press box. I think he can fit there and I think he's the third best player on the line. And I think for whatever reason, those three guys have fit well together. He's a nice bigger body that skates well and can retrieve pucks. Go to another. Probably one of those situations where, let's not try to read too much into it. Let's just keep playing. We don't need to talk about while he had a chance

and then he got comfortable and he faltered and he got lazy and his inconsistency showed up and now he's in and out of the lineup again. Do you know what happened to his eye? That becomes a real... Darrell Popham one at practice one day or something? He'll wash his hands after the wash him. A little pink time. Jesus.

Because I was around for weeks. You didn't see it? I would suggest that if he can stay in that spot, that really helps them balance the second and third line. I love back on Coleman together. I'm super happy they put the cadre, Dubay Manjapani line back together, albeit not big minutes overall for Dubay on Saturday.

And I think the fourth liners belong in the fourth line because they're fourth liners, right? They're all vets that have been in this league a long time, whereas Rizitschka, who at one point was a fourth liner, at least you're like, well, there's a skill set. where he hasn't been a fourth liner at every other level. Maybe he could not be a fourth liner for this group. We've said the lineup looks like they're a top nine guy short,

and if he wants to play anywhere in that top nine and contribute at a 50% rate of where he's at now, that would be a really helpful addition to this team. How many posts has Dylan Dubay hit this year? A thousand. Hit another one on Saturday. To the point I'm now feeling bad for the guy. He's cursed.

He's got to have at least five or six goal posts. What animal does he have to kill and in what process and to what gods does he pray? Because, like, there's a, there's a curse upon him. And I felt that way about Manjel a little earlier, but he's just not around it as much as anybody's been able to. What's going on with Manjapani, Red? Big contract.

Fat cat. Is that it? Is he F and S? Fat and sassy? I don't know. It's probably more in line of, I got to live up to this than it is. Squeezing it.

Kicking the feet up and, yeah, right? It's probably more, man, I'm getting paid. I got to show up. I got to produce. I got to produce. I got to produce. And it's, yeah, he's a little bit stressed about it. I mean, he's looking up at Brett Ritchie in the stats, right?

You know what I'm seeing with him? He's never been an elite distributor. Like, he's fine, but he's yielding the puck a ton. Like, you see him on two on ones, odd man rushes, moving into the net. Like, he's not shooting it. And it's like, that's a guy that always shot it. And now he's always passing. That just seems feels like a guy that's in his own head.

I don't know him there. No one's acting there. No. I just see him passing one. It's like, why are you passing there? You're in the house. I guess I haven't noticed it as much. It just doesn't look like he's involved enough to me.

I mean, have you seen him irritate anyone this year? Not like usual. I mean, I think we saw the stat a couple of years ago. He had like one of the shortest distances on net from his average shot. That means you're always on the paint in the action. And I think there's less of that.

for sure. And it doesn't have to be, but if he gets irritating guys, he's going to get no, you know what I mean? Sometimes it drags you into it, right? All of a sudden, guys are pissed off. Yeah. You kind of put a target on yourself and you can't not play. He was one of those guys that would just kind of work his way out of stuff like this.

It felt like you never, man, you just never. It's a weird season last two, right, wasn't it? You had all those goals early on the road, almost nothing. at home and then the second half really dried up offensively for him. Because remember last year, Daryl, the one after the one practice or something, he talked about how hard it is to play. He's like compared him to a sports car or something, I think that day. He's like, it takes a lot of fuel to go that hard to be, to play and to go at that

highest speed. And I'm, I'm with you. I don't think he's put his feet up. I don't think it's a situation where it's like, no. Now my unborn children don't need to work. I don't think it's that. but it's it's part of it's part of the ups and downs of it for sure three goals

three assists in 17 where's how many shots has he got you got that in front of you or no 32 yeah so he's shooting it under 10% that's not 9.4 that's not like whoa there's huge aggression coming but it's below what he'd normally but he's probably somewhere 12 to 15 so that's the game against the Florida Panthers anything else any other takeaways from that one

I mean I well fill the buck They've beat Florida, top team, Carolina, top team, Vegas, top team. Edmonton. Who else have the? Carolina. Edmonton. There's been some good teams.

Stupid devil's got them twice. What else was I thinking? They're in a similar spot to Calgary. Like I look at them. They're just outside the playoff pitcher in the east. And that division, we know, like Boston's way healthier, way better than we thought they'd be at this point, given how, I don't know about their off season. Like, these guys won't be back to Christmas.

They're all back. They're good. Getting lights out gold. And Toronto for all the drama early on, they're right up there. Detroit's pushing a bit. And like Tampa's there as well. Like they, I find them in a similar spot to Calgary in a way. It's a season, an offseason of a lot of change.

And they're just on the cusp. You're okay with that extension, right? Because you didn't know how he's going to fit in there. But they extended him right away. Who, the Cachachuk extension? Is Bill Zito okay? It's a sign and trade, but never saw him play a game in the jersey before they brought him, brought him in with that big fat contract. He's taking a run at you is what's happening.

I'm trying to. Yeah. Are you guys trying to? I'm not trying to do anything. I'm just trying to keep the show moving. It's all I'm doing. So Philly tonight. Well, it's a hot start, right?

How about Raspus Anderson? Pretty nice winner. I wasn't sure when I saw Raspus Anderson coming around fine. I would say the flames were fortunate to. but he's not a power play quarterback is my point. I still think they're missing that guy. That's a piece that this team doesn't have as an elite power play defenseman. He's an average. That's what he is. He's had an average 17 games. I won't fight you on that.
