You're welcome.
It is a snow apocalypse.
Oh.
Here in Calgary.
It is, what's happened, what is going on?
It's lake effect, right?
The climate is changing, it feels like.
It feels like there's a change to our climate.
Is there a turn of the seasons?
I don't know what the heck is going on.
Now, you're probably not the best equipped to opine on this, being that you walk nine
meters from your front door to the studio.
It's about nine blocks. I enjoyed it today.
Yeah. Whereas Princey and I have a bit of a jaunt to make it in.
Yeah. It was a little hairy today.
For the second time, as Rhett spins the camera. Look at that. Yeah. It's beautiful.
The second time in basically a week, it has been slow going out on the old roads out there.
Lots of shoveling this weekend, Rhett. I hope the shovelers doing okay in the, in the, in the
the clear and warm.
She's grumpy all weekend, so maybe she needs to get back there
and pick up a spader.
Get that shoulder workout going.
Yeah.
Yeah, it's one of those things for sure where I
lower back.
You bend your knees.
Don't use your back.
What do they say?
I don't know.
I don't know either.
What are you supposed to do when you're shoveling?
Where's the shoveler?
Get her on.
Well, do you got that ergonomic handle?
Or do you got the straight blade?
No, just straight.
You got the metal on the end.
I'm building a huge pile.
You got to use your knees then.
And you know what's great is when you're doing the push and you're going, okay,
and then cluck!
You fucker!
Oh, God.
Good start.
So then you kind of, then you go at the angle, right, so that you're not going to catch it.
Then you catch some ice.
Cluck, fuck.
Oh, Jesus.
That's two.
How we doing, everybody? Welcome to the Monday show. It is Barnburner. It is Boomer and Pinder and Warner and...
And Princey and Alex. And I'll tell you what, we can all rest easy. If you're a Flames follower, if you're a fan, great news.
They're no longer in Calgary. They got out of the province. They got out of the province.
No more home games in a row here. Home games, done. Winning starts tonight because they're on the road.
That's simple.
That's all they've been waiting for.
Thank the good Lord that we've got out of that place.
Our home ice advantage, we don't have to worry about that anymore.
It's done.
By my math, nine of the next.
Big stress relief.
Nine of the next 11 on the road.
11, yeah.
So nine wins.
Wait, wait.
What happens if it doesn't go well on the road, though?
Well, then they've got to start planning some neutral site games.
You've got a Kansas City exhibition, send them over to Helsinki.
Let's go.
Right.
And if they get home.
Mice and the playoffs, can we...
That'd be a good problem right now, wouldn't it?
Home ice, that means you're tough to.
Give it up, just...
So anyway, I was... Listen, listen, all we've been waiting for,
all anybody has told us, well, it's just too many home games.
You know, all you get in, you gotta get...
Of course they're going to win.
They're on the road.
All we've heard for about a week to a week and a half
is how awful it is, this homestand, the schedule maker,
they're bored, they're tired, their wives are next.
their pets heads are falling off.
All of that is a big part of why they've been losing these hockey games.
Now they're out in the road.
They're in hotels.
They're bonding.
That's right.
Bonding.
The roondog finally gets to meet his new running mates.
Weager doesn't know who the hell any of these guys are.
No, they don't talk.
Dubey Mange and Mange Dubez.
Wrong guy.
Spun around.
Wrong guy.
Doesn't know who they are.
Hubertoe, you know, broken English.
He needs to get out to that Eastern Time Zone.
115 points last year.
Who is la Salle de Ben?
And no one.
talks to him.
Is that the washroom or the bathroom?
It's the window.
Window.
Don't shit on the window.
Right.
Another, another loss.
Damn, birds.
On the, on Saturday.
Oh, that's just glass half full, Dean.
They got a point.
Fair enough.
Sorry.
Big point.
They battled back to get a point, Dean.
Battled back.
They showed Moxie.
Commitment and savvy, veteran savvy right there.
They also showed not a lot of defensemen that look like NHL defensemen.
The injury bug has arrived, my friends.
I don't know if you noticed.
I'm sure you did.
I didn't think we would be at a spot where you would be,
Jesus, Stone got injured.
That's not good.
Whereas Michael Stone's been,
he's been one of your more reliable guys.
Yeah, makes in a tan of injury and a Connor Mackie grenade handling session.
And next thing you know, it's Nick D. Simone making his NHL debut tonight.
my 11-year-old who can barely skate,
considers himself a defenseman,
was watching the game and actually said,
what the hell is Mackey doing?
We're sitting there in the second level.
We're made of what he said.
You can hear the conversations around you
because it's quiet.
They're down early.
And it's like,
is that Mackey again?
Mackey again?
Like,
is the only words you heard were Mackey and expletives
through 20 minutes.
Poor guy.
He was on for all the goal.
Well, I'd set up the third with a penalty as well.
It wasn't like he was just on.
He was racing out of the box of a penalty he took.
That's a shitty period of hockey.
It's not great.
Yeah, it's not great.
But the guys were building them up.
That dog was doing some things.
I was saying to Dean before the show,
if there's a six flags near Buffalo,
the craziest roller coaster's got to be nicknamed
the Zad Dog or Zadorov.
Like, the experience is unbelievable.
How long's the line for the Zodorov?
And it's like, I can't do the Zadora of anymore.
I did it once.
I just, like, I had vertigo for a week.
Can you buy express passes for the Zadorov?
It's like, yeah, it's not the longest line, but it is the craziest ride.
Yeah.
It's once a week that ride.
You can't go on more than once.
I loved.
I loved in the second when he had the confidence to slow the game down.
Last man back.
Yeah, that's always a good time to get cute.
Fuck me.
And was, and like, had a good game.
But it's just like, it's the two brain fart decision.
where you're like, why do you think you're Nick Liddstrom?
You can read the back of your hockey card too.
You're doing things that like 70 point defensemen only try.
You're not Eric Carlson.
And like, there's simple plays to be made.
It's the nuke-louche.
Don't think.
Just throw.
Don't think.
Just go.
Don't, don't, don't.
Yeah, there's a few don't thinkers on that blue line.
But, yeah.
He ended up, like the numbers really like the season he's had to this point.
quite defensively.
Which numbers?
Do you mean?
What?
As mass metrics.
Do they?
Yeah, even strength, he and Stone up heading until obviously when Stone left had been
one of the top ten pairing defensively in the NHL.
Now, they're going to be sheltered because that's your third pair, et cetera.
La, la, la, la, zone starts, but they've done what you've wanted them to do.
I don't know that I would have found that reading my notes because you notice the brain cramps
with Zodorov, but like hasn't been bad in terms of when he's on the ice, shot at
chances,
etc.
Hence the reason
advanced stats
can take a hike.
Okay.
The devil's are pretty good.
They built the team on them.
No, it's information.
It's not everything.
You're right.
You're right,
and you will argue it to the death,
but you're willing to tell me
that Zadora has looked good in your eyes?
No, I didn't say that at all.
I said the metrics have liked them
to this point of the season.
But that's what I'm saying is that
like I just said,
my viewings,
would not have arrived at the same point,
but it's one of those things where maybe it's not pretty,
but yet when he's on the ice,
they aren't getting a lot of shot against, right?
Like, those two things can exist at the same time.
It's not super likely, but...
But you can spend two minutes in your own end
and not give up a shot.
Yeah, sure.
And you can spend two minutes in the other end
and not get a shot.
I get it, yeah.
It's, again, not everything, but...
Anyway.
Don't give up.
But you're, I find it.
Anyway, the fact that they actually support his play is staggering,
and that's why the stupidity of it all is,
there's no way he's playing good hockey.
Like I said, it's the craziest ride at the amusement park,
but the results could be a lot worse.
I don't think he's been like on the ice for like 15 goals against or anything.
But that's what's funny about, so now I'm mad at you because you just at me,
which is ignorant.
Well, dude, come on.
Like, there's only one.
area of any shell.
You're actually bishing.
You're actually complaining about his play.
But if I,
but the advanced stats say he's playing good.
So he must be playing good.
Not I'd say that I'm willing to say both things.
I understand that.
I just said the advanced stats clearly aren't showing how he's playing.
He's been playing shitty.
That's my opinion on it.
I don't care what the advanced stats say.
You're saying I haven't seen him play good,
but the advanced stats say he's playing good.
No, no.
I said he's.
an amusement ride. Like, there's a lot of nice plays, and there's some crazy decisions. I'm not saying
he's playing bad. I'm saying the roller coaster is him. But you're defending the measurement.
No, I'm just saying that I saw it. And it's like, by some measure on some model, he's playing well.
And that's interesting. I noted that and thought, huh. It also says Yusufal Mackie's look good in Arizona.
So who knows about the model? Did he get the call up? Because I know they're out on the road trip.
They had they bring in a couple.
So will he play tonight?
Oh, with Arizona.
Not. What do you mean?
Is he playing against the Islanders tonight?
Waiver claim.
You know, the guy that the flames kept ahead of Alamaki Mackey.
Yeah, yeah.
Valmaki waivers.
Oh, is he?
Yeah, he's a coyote.
Shit.
No, but he was untouchable two years ago.
He was.
He was great in that playoffs against Colorado.
Then three catastrophic injuries, three seasons in a row.
And it's like tough, man.
That stings.
He had a defenseman sitting there doing player development, guy out with a knee injury, young defenseman.
Let's not put those two guys together there.
Just, man, just observation.
So, no one knows what I'm talking about.
I think we do know exactly what we're talking about there.
So Valamaki's in the desert.
Shillington is in Sweden.
For nothing.
For nothing.
Yeah.
Waiver claim.
So he's going.
He's not here.
Hannah have injured, Stone on LTIR.
Not L-T-I-R.
Sorry, I-R.
And they have called up Nick D. Simone.
First game tonight.
And congrats.
Will the D. Simone's be able to get in in time?
I think they probably should.
Where did you say he was from?
He's in East Hamhurst, which I think is like Rett's Hood right there.
No, that's Gilbert.
Dennis Gilbert.
Those are the two.
He's a big beast.
Yeah, those are the two calls.
I made a real ass of myself actually talking to Dennis Gilbert.
Did you?
I know his father and his uncle, blah, blah, blah.
But he said he signed in Calgary.
And I said, well, that's good because the Wranglers, that's a nice spot for the Wranglers.
It'll have you set up real good.
And he goes, well, it's, it's, what's an NHLD.
Yeah.
Nick D. Simone is from East Amherst, New York, USA.
So they're both from the hood.
No way.
Yeah.
Shut up.
27, 6-2-195, played at Union,
and has been in the shark's system for the last five years.
So they're both from...
That's Connie's turf.
Princey, could we get some...
Did I send you guys the picture of that?
Not that I'm doubting Pinder, but I just...
I just pull up the page.
I'm not doubting you, but just so we have...
Sounds like you're doubting me. I'm not. I just feel like Red is doubting you.
It seems odd that two defense... Well, they're... I mean...
He's a Buffalo Juniors.
your saber, the OJHL.
Yeah.
It actually says he's from Quebec.
Nick D. Simone,
right here, number 50.
I'm just, I'm just messing with you.
Pinder is correct.
Number 21, 1994. Welcome to Earth.
East Amherst,
New York, United States. Pinder is correct.
Go to bed, you two.
Yeah, but that's an advance.
We can't just trust that's his actual birthday.
Oh, geez.
Maybe the Shubler knows this young lad.
Okay, settle down.
You can ask her.
another, they score first on Saturday and then mistake, mistake.
And it's not just, we have seen, and I, again, I feel like we're seeing things
that went away when Daryl took over the team.
Like we're back in previous coaching territory.
Yeah, this is Jeff Ward, Jeff Gullochson.
Yeah, like, whatever, whichever one you want to throw it together.
Glenn Gullets, it was good.
You lay down.
Just glaring mistakes.
lack of intense.
This all looked like Sutter had nipped it in the bud when he came in.
And now it just looks like you're really back to square one.
I think when, I mean, again, we're caught up in what we saw most recently.
That's a very normal thing for the human brain.
We have to remember that after 40 minutes against Edmonton,
none of these things were super prevalent.
There was an odd period here there.
Okay.
But it's been a bad week.
and I thought frankly after the first,
given they were down to essentially four NHL defensemen
and Mackey having an awful night,
that it was better for the final 40.
Because even the first game of the season,
the first shot went in and then two nights later,
it's kind of the same thing.
This, starting on time.
We talked about that all the time.
What do you got to do?
And they fell behind two nothing to Vegas and Carolina.
So again, they're on the road.
Everything's fixed.
And I guess
So there's two things.
There's like they don't look like a setter team
and starting on time.
And that's part of not looking like a setter team.
But really what I think is the bad sign
is that turnover's lack of work ethic,
that in the last week,
I didn't see a lot of in the first seven games.
Like just sloppy.
Like the Seattle game was garbage.
Like Nashville was a deplorable effort.
And I thought because they fell behind early in Jersey,
they actually did put their work booths.
on a bit, albeit now you've got the injury bug fighting you.
But it hasn't been a team that looked anything like the one Daryl operated last year.
It looked like the one trying to figure out Daryl two seasons ago after they canned Ward,
where it was like you saw flashes of a really strong possession team.
And then it was like, oh yeah, they still haven't really learned this stuff, have they?
Silver lining.
There's a lot wrong right now.
The lines went back.
We were bitching and complaining.
They had to.
They just made no sense.
They went back to the original lines.
they didn't look a whole lot better.
The power play is right in the ditch.
Yeah.
Right now.
Four games, nothing, not a sniff.
You said it off for 13.
And I don't see them like threatening.
And they looked really good again until that Oilers game.
Yeah.
It's like, I don't know.
And I obviously, Eubertoe's in a real rough tar off here, like probably one of the worst 10 game stretches of his career.
But you can see in his decision.
making, he's feeling it, he's in his own head, he's trying to get cute. And I don't know that he
shot the puck. Everything has to be a sexy pass apparently. Like just fucking put it on net man.
He's done. He's done. He held up on the effing. He kind of, he double clutched on the effing.
Soft. Take that back. Was that 15 bucks? Take that.
Can you play that sound effect back?
Huberdough, one shot in that hockey game, just under two minutes on the power play.
I just think if he held the puck 12 times in the offensive zone
in a position to shoot he passed at 11 right
he's just trying so hard to set up something sexy just shoot it
and it was another one of those nights notice him in a great spot to shoot
yeah it's just always yielding always always always I don't we like honestly
how much do we see this guy play we love the stats you knew Florida was a dynamic
offense but like here we go no no and I just I don't if if you asked flames fans to
describe he were to before the
He got here.
I don't know how many descriptions would actually fit who he is.
Like, clearly the GM of the team knows what he is as a player.
Like, you know who saw him play lots?
Tell me.
You know who some play lots?
Bill Zito.
The management?
The management in Florida.
Yeah.
He decided that probably 85 assists is not going to be a regular occurrence.
No, but he doesn't have a 150 point guy.
Jesus, if he can be an 80 point guy, you'd be thrilled right now.
Did you just hear that, for instance?
Did you hear that noise?
Debexel.
That was the sound of the wheels
falling off the Hubertoe bandwagon.
Plang! Bang!
Plying!
There's lug nuts flying.
Look out.
Well, Rett called him done.
I said he's in a tough stretch
and he's feeling.
He's in his own head, right?
Like, those aren't the same thing at all.
You also said,
how often did we actually see him play?
To like, I don't know stylistically that people knew,
like, how much did we watch Florida?
I'm not saying like, ooh,
I was way wrong.
what I thought Hubert was going to be. I'm saying, I don't know that, like, Flamescans see the
hockey card and they're like, oh, he's big. He's more physical than Johnny. No, he's not.
He's hardly physical at all. But like, people had this image of him that wasn't that real.
Right? Like, he's not physical. He's big, but he's not like he doesn't pay people.
And I think he, but you're also expecting him to replace some of the flash that.
Yes.
He's been a perennial kind of a top 10.
scorer in the national hockey league.
Yeah, I think people know that.
And right now he's well under a point of game.
Yeah.
Right.
And see, and it wasn't just line.
Is he making the moves or was it?
No, he didn't play with Barkov much the last two, three years.
They did away back, but it was a lot of Sam Bennett.
But it's secondary.
Sorry, go ahead.
Well, I'm just saying that that's fine.
And I'm not saying that.
Barkov, but if you're not playing with Barkov,
who's the other team covering?
I mean, it's kind of a cross-me-alkin thing, right?
One guy's superb at both ends and one's an offensive guru.
I don't think that's why those teams win is they're hard to defend.
And I know you said 80 points would be great.
He's done it twice.
Well, I mean, how many, is it injury issues or what are we talking here?
Like, point per game is kind of what we're talking about.
Like, if you play 70, you get 70, I feel like that's what we're talking about.
We had 92 points and 82 games and 115 points.
points in 80 games.
And those are the only times he's broken.
Regretts just.
He had 78, I guess.
I don't think it doesn't look good.
I told you from the start.
It's going to be a tough, tougher.
It's going to be a tough.
You definitely like,
wondered out loud.
You didn't tell us this is what happened.
Now you trailed off there at the end.
You're on Wi-Fi.
So the quality isn't great.
I told you this is going to be.
What's it going to be?
Yeah, what did you tell us?
It wasn't because of the Wi-Fi at all you putts.
Don't whine about it.
Why don't you idiots turn your lights on there too?
You're going to sit here and critique the rest of the rest of the
We brought in a profession.
We have experts.
You guys got your own.
You got producers and you got lights guys.
You still look like shit compared to me.
Oh, geez.
Now that's,
Hey,
I'll go find some racquetball glasses if that's the difference.
If I need to get over the top,
I'll go find some.
He's in for my eyes.
I got,
you guys were no problem.
You had felt sympathy for me when Eisenman stuck me and I was a flame.
Now I got to take care of my eyes.
It's my own problem, right?
I hope they compensated you politely for such a tough occupation.
Would you give up your eyes?
No.
No, no.
Hey, Rhett.
Apologized to me.
I'm sorry, Rhett.
What?
Go ahead.
Thanks.
Tell us what you told us.
I don't know what I was talking about.
You said, I told you guys.
I told you this whole thing.
It was Hubert all.
I told you this thing's going to.
Why, you guys, everyone was so excited.
It's going to be great.
It's going to easy street, smooth sailing.
They brought in a new guy.
They're going to replace them.
It's going to be wonderful.
Yeah, who rings and parades.
Let's do it.
Retro, the voice reason.
Let's give it some time before we get too excited and sign a guy to a nine-year extension.
Let's wait and see.
We can sign him later in the year.
If he's doing great, there's no downside to that eye.
Let's get him sign to sign him up.
And now he's terrible and he's going to continue to be terrible because he hates
Calgary and the snow.
Right.
Okay.
Good stuff.
So just to clarify Rets, I know this is numbers.
I don't want the, these are very unadvanced metrics,
but he's been a point per game player for four seasons in a row.
And that was kind of what I was doubling up on there asking you about,
because when he plays 69 games and has 78 points,
that's a really good year.
When he plays 55 games because of, you know, the pandemic
and gets 61 points, that's a really good year.
Four years in a row, he's been a point per game player.
The question that Flames fans are asking themselves right now is,
is something wrong with human,
or is this just a bad stretch?
Oh, God.
So we're already to the Monaghan BS?
This is nothing to do with Monaghan.
No, I don't think that at all.
I think people are wondering.
It's the same scenario.
Is he shitty or is he hurt?
Well, I don't think he's hurt.
Does anyone hurt anything about Hebrot being hurt?
I haven't.
No.
What did you just say?
Something wrong with him.
Like, okay, he's not doing this like he used to.
Or, you know, here's an instance where he used to do this.
or the system that he played in Florida is so different,
he hasn't figured to sell yet.
That would be something wrong versus,
or is this just a bad 10-game spell that,
you know, like if Jerome hadn't scored by now,
it's like, is this another slow start
or is something off with Jerome?
And then sure enough, he'd end up at 35 or 40 by the end of the year.
Like, is it just a bad 10-game segment
or is there something fundamentally not fitting
with his line, this team, this coach, or something else?
And that's the question.
I wish I had five points in a bad 10-game segment.
Well, and it just feels like one of these nights the power play is going to look right,
and it's going to be, oh, one goal, three helpers, and away we're back to nine points
and 11 games, no so on.
Until it turns into a nightmare and never, the flip, the switch never flips and it just continues on.
And we're all like, oh, boy.
Yeah, it would be a huge outlier for that to happen, four consecutive point per game seasons and then like,
listen.
Not, right?
The good news is, though, the flames have never gone and made a trade with Florida and brought in a guy who saw his
offensive numbers hit the skids.
Bowmeister.
There's no history there?
Yokinen.
Boeaster had back-to-back
15 goal years, came to Calgary, would have
three the next year.
Was Yokinen in Florida when they traded from?
I thought it was in Arizona.
Oh, you might have been Arizona.
Either way. And like the other way, at least it doesn't
work. We never saw a guy go there in his number of skyrocket Sam Bennett.
Chuck's doing all right.
He's going to get in the wallet.
He's going to miss a couple.
He's got a pliper game.
The third period, Daryl decided to bench Milan luch each.
Nothing.
Zero shifts in the third for Luch.
One for the Rune Dog, as Pinder calls.
And Backlin played two shifts, then sat for the rest of the third,
got one in overtime, the penalty kill, which they did not kill off, as you may.
Do we mention the Devils won the game?
We did, I think.
You noted that they're losing, and I said, hey, they got one point.
So not totally surprised.
I don't know.
Darrell loves his fourth line guys.
He loves Luch.
He was on the second line.
And that is something, right?
Because last week we talked about it.
If Jacob Pellche had some of the turnovers Looch had against the Nashville or I guess Seattle.
Yeah.
So Penthouse, the Oathouse for Luch, it's Roondog.
But for Backland, I was kind of curious because I haven't really had a problem with how
Backland's been playing.
Now, it could be very spotty.
It might be just one shift.
One battle or something.
One battle in a game where you're,
now you've lost four in a row and it just rubs the coach the wrong way and you sit them down.
You're that or you like someone or you're saying, we're all three lines and someone,
someone's going to pay the price.
But no, I agree with that.
I didn't think there was an egregious night for Backland so much as, you know, he just,
it felt like he was the odd man out.
The other two, it's like, yeah, you're going to have to do a little more.
So retro, from a coaching standpoint, there's things that you do.
You change the lines.
You bench guys.
You'll rip them a bag, whatever the case.
So we've seen the line change.
We've seen the goalie really neither here nor there.
I thought Markson was fine on Saturday.
I thought he was too.
I hung out to dry.
And honestly,
like he made some big save to keep him in that game.
They're down, what, early, big time there.
So I, he's played a lot of cards.
So my, that's, that's my concern is that Daryl,
I think that Daryl right now, or the coming into this,
year. I mean, he's, he's been around. He's done it all, but he's not one, he wants to be in control
of what's happening and make the right moves. And he's trying to think, but I think he might be over
overhandling it. Yeah. That line change thing is so weird, right? You're like a one fluky mistake
against Edmonton. Yeah. That's it. Exactly. Like I, and there's a history of Daryl wanting
things so much that he'll do
almost, like we said,
overhandle, overkill.
He can push too many buttons sometimes
whereas it's like, wait a minute,
there was changes, let this team
morph into what it's going to become.
They were fine. Pinder said they're a goal
away from beating the Oilers.
That might keep the momentum going. All of a sudden
you're sure, shit, not changing those lines
and they beat Eminson, right?
Yeah, right? There's no way.
You're changing all these lines. That's not
working. You're trying to
send a message by play and luch up the line-
You're benching them two nights later.
Yeah.
Yeah, it's,
be careful you don't confuse and lose those guys, right?
We all know Darrell push his button.
He's hard on guys and he's a great coach and he demands a lot.
There's going to be around enough of those guys for a while now that they,
it's going to be like, okay, enough, quit it, right?
Like a player does get to that point with Darrell.
I wanted to ask you about this because it actually came up at dinner the other night at the game.
And just the topic of this.
Wonder behind closed doors.
How is Darrell handling things?
This was before the three unanswered in the first there, whatever you want to call it, three straight in the first.
And then the benchings in the third and into overtime.
When there was a time where you guys, you the veterans on the Flames team, would take the room.
I just tell Darrell, whether it be postgame or whatever.
No, no, we got this.
Don't come in.
Did that happen?
When I was playing?
Yeah.
All the time.
You have to do it with Darrell and certain coaches.
You have to take control of the room.
But I don't, I mean, but the Flames team this year, they've got enough veteran guys.
They should know it.
They've got lots of guys that know Darrell.
But there's new guys, right?
Yeah.
There's a lot of new young.
Huberdo's got an A.
Like, I don't know.
But you're not, you're not relying on Huberdo and the new guys to do that.
It's the guys that know, Darrell, and have been around it that should be going,
whoa, whoa, whoa, we got this.
But you know what it is, retro, is guys like you and Robin,
comfortable, confident, and are of an ilk that you're strong enough to make that step.
There might be some guys in the room who will be thinking, God, the last thing we need right now is him coming in here and ripping a
again or doing whatever.
We just got to keep them out.
There may not be guys who are wired to do that.
Or at least right now, not yet.
Codry, for example, we talked about it.
Looks like a guy that if they were going to name a captain,
he'd be a strong candidate.
Is he less than a month into his time with Daryl
going to tell Daryl what's up?
Or is it going to have to be a guy that was here last year
and when Dary took over for Ward that's going to be like,
we see how this goes, we have to say something now.
Like, I think if Codry,
and Uberto and Uberto and Wigger and Rooney had all been here a couple of years,
that's a conversation they obviously would have, but I just don't know if you're comfy.
Well, I'm just saying.
That's what I'm saying.
You probably aren't.
So.
Yeah, but they don't all.
It doesn't take 22 guys to walk into Darrell's office and say, just chill out.
So who's the guy?
Takes one.
Like give me an example.
Luch.
Okay.
Cup bench.
Luch is the guy.
Tanaf.
Yeah, but hurt.
Luch is, but it doesn't matter.
Mila Luchin has played thousands of games.
He's been benched before, maybe not for a very long.
It doesn't matter if you get benched at his stage in his career.
You're why and say, no, if he's been out of the lineup and barely around the team for a year,
okay, a little tougher to walk in and go, hey, coach, chill out.
And it's not just one game.
It should have been done two games ago.
If Daryl's been flying off the handle since day one,
why have we waited to this point to take control?
like these guys have been around the game long enough and i guarantee you huberdo doesn't know that
he can walk into darrell's office and say dude like leave me alone i need some time here to get my head
figured and i think cadre's probably the same way and the young guys but there's enough of a leadership
group there chris tannive can't go hey coach we got this and you know what yeah there's all kinds
of guys because when i said that guys aren't wired like maybe i'm not looking to let
them off the hook because I agree with you. You need someone in that room that has that,
the confidence to do it, to stand up to the coach, the experience, obviously enough tenure in
the game where you have, where the coach is going to say, okay, fine, I'll stay out, that
sort of thing. It's not letting them off the hook. But as we start to go through, like you,
even if it was just the other night, well, Luchy's got bench. Tanev isn't playing. I, Zedorov
Backland is, maybe Rasmus becomes that guy. I think, but I just don't. Tofoli would have some
To Foley might be a guy.
Cread with him, obviously, with cup rings.
I was looking, I mean, Trevor Lewis,
maybe Lewis and Tofoli were both in L.A.
When they were, that was kind of what got Brown,
ended up taking the sea off of his chest
because he was getting into it with Daryl on a near nightly basis.
Is that what it was? Because those two didn't see out of eye,
and everyone thought Dustin Brown was done.
And then Daryl leaves, and he's like, oh, shoot, this guy can still score 30?
Like his minutes went way up and he was a player again, you know.
But with a coach like that, you need to have a strong room.
Yeah.
And I think they're still getting there.
Yeah. And like, Brett, I don't think, I think you're absolutely right that there's lots of guys that could.
I just wanted you to flush through that argument and talk about, okay, which guys could, which couldn't.
Because I don't see it with Manjapani necessarily.
I don't necessarily see it with Dubay, who was in the doghouse a year ago.
I don't see it with Lindholm who might be a quieter guy.
Tanniv's rather quiet human.
Hanifin, I don't think's the guy.
But there are enough vets around.
It's not like this is a young team where they're all rookies.
They don't have a single rookie.
Right? So I think you're right.
It's just you could kind of, it almost falls into that conversation of like, yeah, you don't have a captain.
Like I think these things are kind of related in a way.
And I don't think that the last game was the instance that someone needed to go into Daryl's office and say, hey, my speculation.
And again, we're talking about stuff that we have no clue.
He might not have been in the room at all.
The only reason I bring it up is because we were talking about it the other night.
And it almost looks like maybe a team, and maybe it's part of, who knows, right?
It was, you hear about these coaches that I'm going to be the villain right now
so that they come together as a group.
I'll take the heat.
To stand up, maybe that's what Daryl is doing.
Cedine is not Swedish for Spear Me, right?
Like the whole Brian Burke stand up, take some flack.
I don't know.
But what's Daryl doing to make you talk about it that way?
Has he come out?
In the lines?
Benching guys?
They just, it looks like a very,
Yeah, but benching guys is part of Darrell benched Iggy.
Like, he will bench guys.
But they're 10, they're 10 games in.
And I mean, we're had fun with an I'm being sarcastic and facetious about it.
They've got to get on the road.
They've been at home.
Life's been pretty easy.
No one's, there's some nicks and dings, but they're 10 games into 82.
They're not exhausted.
They look melancholy and beat down.
They've got no answers.
They look like they know.
losing is an inevitability with how they're playing some of these games.
When they got down 3-1, did you think they were going to lose?
Do you think I'm going to see these guys fight back?
I thought for sure they're fighting back in this.
It was what they needed in the sense.
There's a few things there.
They came out for they scored, but I wouldn't say they came out and dominated.
Like after they scored, the play completely shifted back into their own.
And they were getting out skated and out worked and out chance.
And then they got out scored.
Taking penalties, albeit some dumb calls.
Yeah.
Yeah, to say they were ready to go because they scored early is, it's, is almost a falsehood.
Like that's, it's, it's a bit misleading.
No, I agree.
And that's how many, how many games in a row has it been?
Flat Buffalo, flat Seattle, flat Nashville.
Edmonton was a good start, but that's your, a lot lately.
That's the biggest rivalry with a big buzz in the room or in the city and the province and across Canada.
And it's like, you should be able to.
get up for those games that shouldn't be too much of a request right where the other ones the
buffalo game it well they looked past it you're willing to give them that the benefit of the doubt
because it was the first time and they just played edmonton and beat them and come home right like
it was kind of one of those but these last few are somewhat inexcusable there's no reason for the
to be that flat and that disjointed and i did i when they went down three one i thought they were
going to lose. I didn't think they'd play as bad as they did in the first for the rest of the
game. But you got to remember when you're up three one, you'd start to play your style game.
The devils play a little differently too. So. And the other thing, I'm still shocked in today's
hang on my last thing on it. I'm still shocked in today's world in hockey in general. How many
come from behinds there are. You know what I mean? Like again, it used to be you get up a couple
of goals and there's no chance you're getting back
in that game and it seems to happen
quite often nowadays. I'm trying to think
just to the flames. They were down 2-0
to both Vegas and Carolina, down
3-1 to New Jersey. That's three
games in the first 10 where they've come back from two.
They didn't win against Jersey where they got it to overtime
where the horrible penalty
was called by someone that's blind that's
employed by the NHL or something like that.
That's a weird call.
Blind jokes, eh? That's nice.
Yeah, sorry. I forgot.
Ratt, sensitive with that.
One, no, here's the thing.
This has not gone well the last half of this homestand.
And we always talk about narratives and excuses,
but Red called this two weeks ago.
Like, not that it would look like this necessarily,
but that it was, this was a shitty start to the year scheduling wise.
And so I hate sort of playing into these,
oh, first game back.
Oh, you know, they're at home too long.
Like they sound like such soft excuses.
And yet we're watching it play out.
Like, would anyone be surprised?
if they had a workman-like
Darrell-type effort on the road
against the Islanders tonight. Like, I wouldn't.
And that's the point I was going to make
is, I feel
the same way, but I feel like there's so many
parts of their game that look off.
It's something.
It's not just that they aren't this
they aren't this team.
I don't think they're this team.
Turning Pucks over and their
D's own awareness and just getting run
around by teams, they're better
than this. And maybe it
happens on the road and all of that and then it'll be oh see they were at home for too long they're
capable of playing much better than this and where it starts a sad narrative because you always want to
have a great home record and make it the hard it's everyone's objective we're the hardest building to
play in nobody wants to come to our rink and play and now we have to say well we need to get on the road
because it's we talked about it after Pittsburgh came in and they lost the is is the alberta is
the fear of Alberta may be back.
And devils weren't scared.
Sabers weren't scared.
And it was crazy.
Swept Western Canada of those teams.
So the Flames fly out yesterday.
They play the Islanders tonight.
The Devils tomorrow.
The devils are waiting for them.
Yeah.
Right.
So they now have that six-game win streak that they feel great about.
They're just sitting at home and waiting.
Oh, but first game back.
They are sitting ducks.
Yeah, that's right.
Fair enough.
They have outscore.
In that six-game winning streak, they've outscored their opposition 27-11.
Flames didn't really contribute.
much to that. It's an O.T. goal. I think they'll be good against Jersey on Tuesday for whatever
reason. Like, I don't, like, the devil's really, I don't know, like, I think the Flames would
be pissed at them. There's a little more flopping around than I think NHL teams like to see for
officials. And then they score the OT winner and they clear the bench and hang out. And it's like,
okay, you had a great road trip. But whatever, yeah, they're a good team, but it, it wasn't a
dominant performance. It was a hot start and then the flames were better.
They were given glorious opportunities.
They were, if anything, they'd have been laugh. I would think kind of laughing at the end.
I was wide open.
I just put my stick out and it redirected it in the top shelf.
It was one of those nights for the devil.
So.
In their division. Fuck.
So, St. Street, Burger, Swarger, getting a workout today.
I'm going to have to talk to Brian.
We're going to have to put a cap on.
this cell street burger every uh every sunday this month they're over at the optimist arena 1245 pm you your
family whoever whoever you're invited out for a free skate they will have giveaways and prizes they've
partnered with kids sport calgary south street burger seven cell street locations across calgary uh let's take a look
we don't need to look at our NFL stuff from the weekend i think we absolutely have to it's uh intellectual
I'm more, I'm more, uh, thing about tonight's action.
There is the, the flames are playing.
We have ravens in action.
Very quiet.
Get off football.
I mean, it's not really about NFL right now.
We are talking about our picks for tonight with Betway, the Betway picks of the day.
Was there football yesterday?
Dean.
It was Sunday yesterday.
It's tomorrow.
It's tomorrow.
Hey, listen.
Snuggle up to that mic and tell us what the hell happened to the bills because you would have
watched that whole thing, I'm guessing.
No, I had to drive to Rochester to do a charity event.
What was the charity?
They were the Buffalo.
Because you were texting me, you're like, no, no, no, charity.
What were you?
Yeah, I was handing out stuff at one of the biggest women's hockey festivals in North America, I guess.
I know.
See, I thought you were doing kid hockey.
All we heard about was your kid going to Rochester all the time.
I went to, I did.
I did a game.
Then I drove to Rochester.
did the stuff in Rochester, drove back and did another game.
So what am I supposed to tell you about?
Well, I was just that the bills lost to the Jets and that really no one would have seen that happening.
They had a lead too.
It wasn't like, it's come up.
They have attendance.
It looks to me, they may have a bit of a tendency to get ahead of themselves.
Yes.
The Miami one, right?
Yeah, that's been the criticism too.
Like, they didn't really finish off Green Bay so much as like threw a bunch of picks in the second half backdoor cover.
not that they care about covers,
but they just haven't buried teams
when they've gotten up
necessarily as much as you thought they would.
Yeah, well, I just, like I said,
I didn't watch it, but apparently everyone talks about it.
They just, they didn't play.
Apparently?
They weren't, they weren't there to compete and to play,
and they looked like the flames last three games.
Tough world.
And it's Buffalo, right?
Buffalo will do everything they can to screw things up, so.
How's the shoveler?
Yeah, it must be just shattered.
She hasn't had the best attitude lately.
Oh, hey.
Little dusty.
Well, I saw, I have video actually.
From Buffalo for me.
I don't know, because you were on the road.
You were in Rochester.
And the shoveler, she's a big Buffalo Bills fan.
And it was not their day.
You lose to the jets of all teams.
Division rival.
20 to 17.
Josh Allen, what are you doing?
Get picked off.
Getting picked off.
Tough day.
and it continued even for the shoveler.
Now, I don't know if this is before the game or after or when it was,
but much like the flames, when it's not going your way, retro, it's not going your way.
Let's have a look here.
So here's the show.
I'm not sure about the form.
Oh, see, it was that kind of day for Bill's fans.
You know?
Now, you hurt your ribs.
Does she have some hurt ribs there?
there might be a knee and an elbow there
you gotta flop onto your back
and they're hitting the middle
you've spread out your weight there
shoveler you're right
come on
can you buy tables
bad form for someone from Buffalo like come on
yeah she knows better than that that's horrible form
like is that a tourist or is that the show
come on are you sure that's in Buffalo
I mean it says Bill's Mafia
and it's on the internet it has to be true
it's got to be true it's got to be true
it says Bill's Mafia would not
Well, exactly.
Yeah, that's one of their own, really letting them down.
Really letting them down.
I don't think it's Buffalo because I think if this person did this in Buffalo,
they would get absolutely, like the people would be one, they go there on the ground.
They'd be throwing beer cans and boo.
Now, if you're listening on the podcast, we apologize.
There is some maroon jerseys.
I don't think this is Buffalo either.
Somebody jumping from one folding table to another.
So where was the shoveler if this isn't Buffalo?
landing on the right you know i was in rochester so you never know yeah landing on the table and the
table did not go down that kind of day for this for the bills mafia so what do we want to do for
for betway are we going to do picks for tonight are we going to go back what i've got hockey for
tonight i got hockey for tonight i got hockey for tonight later on social media well we'll see if we
got time for it which everyone pretty you know i actually didn't do any fun of aisles let's go you
You, and I, you know, I actually didn't do any flames picks tonight.
Wow.
I mean, you've been combining everything with a flames win for the last week.
So I can see.
Yeah, that one hurt.
That one hurt.
That's enough.
So Betway bets of the day.
So you've got two flames picks.
I got two for tonight.
All right.
So we talked about it.
Like, clearly all their problems are solved.
They're going on the road.
Second best road record in the NHL last year.
Only the caps are better away from their home building.
And who was spearheading all these wins on the road,
especially in the first.
half of the year? It was Andrew Magiapani.
That's right. 23 goals on the road last year,
tied for sixth in the NHL.
Talk about a road sniper.
Is he sleeping in a dumpster? He loves the road.
He loves it out there. Loves the road.
Hates Calgary. Is he sleeping on bricks at home?
Can't believe he signed here. Pelos here at the hotel?
Snipe City. Anytime goal pays plus 225
for Manjapani tonight, who feels like snake bitten and
Doo, and that describes
a lot of flames apparently, but him and
Dubet especially, you're like, man,
they're around it and they can't finish.
God.
Now he's on the road.
So he's got the soft pillows.
There you go.
The other thing that I work with, again, not to jump in on your bets here, but even when
Manjapani wasn't scoring, he was in it.
Yeah.
Right in it.
Dirty shirt.
Have not seen it.
You know what?
It's not for six games.
Not since then.
Fat cat, new contract, big money, show off.
We raved about that line for two weeks straight.
Play there you're supposed to play.
him Cadre and Duve reunited.
Let's get her going boys.
And then speaking of that line,
Codry,
five of his last six games,
he had four or more shots.
Mm-hmm.
The overrunner for shots is three and a half.
He's paying plus 110.
I'm all over that.
All right.
So it's plus money and five of the last six.
He's bested that total.
Yeah.
Did you notice after I complained about the shot clock keeper?
Their shot totals.
No, I didn't notice that.
The guy was listening.
Is that what it was?
Really?
Because I knew the numbers were good.
I knew our numbers were very strong.
I didn't know that Press Row was listening up at the...
Well, I mean, he stopped the team from moving.
He got Kiprasoff here.
Got the lines changed.
He's done everything.
Why wouldn't he change the shots if there was a mistake down, clearly?
Yeah, Mandjapani.
No, Mackie, though.
5.8 million.
It's fat cat.
Are you what he's in?
Yeah, I heard him.
Let him say, let him speak.
Valamaki.
You could have fixed Valamaki?
Well, I couldn't have made him worse, so.
Yeah, I could have fixed Valamaki.
What did you see with him?
He was one of the guys that came under fire immediately from Darrell when he took over after the ward firing.
He and Dubay, Darrell was hard on and said, basically, if we want to be a good team, we need these two to be good.
Leave him alone and let him play.
that's what I say.
Trying to manipulate him and this and that.
Holy smokes.
Different coach, different player.
But remember when
huge acquisition, Dougie Hamilton
was fifth and minutes on the blue line in Calgary?
Yeah.
Just ranted about let him bleeping play.
Just play the crap out of him.
If he's going to sit after every mistake
and he's in his own head on the bench.
Especially if you have like a two or three week window
or the games don't mean anything.
That's an ideal situation.
So like a pandemic year
when you're not going to make the playoffs,
that sort of thing?
Yeah, if it ever happened, right?
That would be really good.
Did it happen?
I have two picks for tonight,
quiet sked, St. Louis,
at Boston to take on the Bruins.
Bruins had some stuff go on this weekend.
It's not important.
Is it not important?
They're going to take on the mess.
They're taking on.
Saint loss blows.
The Blues.
They haven't fighting it.
They had their,
the GM came in.
Oh, no.
Maybe that's what you're,
for living.
He'll be on the trip,
go in there,
start kicking stuff around.
I'll let you get to your bet,
but also Pierre Dorian
just gave the dreaded
vote of confidence for his coach.
Oh, well,
DJ Smith,
pack your bags,
you got your vote of confidence.
See ya.
There you go.
Congratulations.
You get to spend Christmas
at home with your family.
The rebuild's over.
The rebuild's over in Ottawa.
You heard it last year.
St. Louis at Boston, I am going to go this way. I got a couple.
St. Louis actually, despite their struggles, I think they have the eighth-ranked power play.
Pretty good on the man advantage.
Should be.
Five-on-five? Yeah, they should have a very good power play.
I'm going over one-and-a-half power play goals in this game tonight.
Boston and St. Lus.
Total, over one-and-a-half.
And then I've got, it's another little parlay, Boston Money Line, Bruins are red-od.
Yeah, only the Leafs beat.
And it's before that, top in the league.
Boston Money Line and Brad Marchand, at least a point.
Seems fair.
A Marshand point and the Boston Money Line.
Do you have the odds on those or not?
I do have the odds on that.
Yeah, it is.
It's a minus 125.
I mean, it's, but we need some victories.
I like those things, yeah.
We need some victories.
It's some wins.
Those are our Betway picks of the day.
Are we not going to talk about our NFL
I don't care what you do.
You go ahead.
Go ahead.
I feel like our listeners, we're going to tell them what to do.
And then Monday we come in and pretend we didn't tell them what to do.
Ask Alex.
Whatever Alex wants to do.
Alex gets all mad.
His mom starts email on the show.
He starts yelling at me.
We'll do whatever.
Hey, listen, the biggest turnaround we've seen in the NHL season is Rett's performance since
Alex's mom aerated him.
It's true.
Like, you want to talk about a coach getting in someone's year and turning their game around.
Alex's mom has read like all-star performance since that letter came in.
he was he was hating guys trips and being a dick before that now he's unreal star of the show
every day i hate your guys trips because you act like you're 12 that's all and don't get invited
see that's we finally got some truth at the end yeah there it is yes that was a week ago oh beautiful
that was a week ago but since then so complete 180 he's been phenomenal yeah since he put the
rocket ball glasses on he's dialed let's do it yeah oh no i don't have a headache because my eyes aren't
straining so hard it's oh is it squinting is that what gives you the headache or is it something else going
on there i don't know but i noticed that's oh that's so botox or something doesn't someone we know do
that yeah the Aussie shila that's called channel 11 it's the two vertical lines there she's yeah
go see her if you could ever leave that country yeah uh i don't want to talk about
my picks very badly. But Brian, if you want to tell us,
we should all post the... I think the fans are interested. The listeners
want to hear. Well, okay, so you know what? I'm going to pump my own tires. If you
ever get a rookie quarterback in New England against the Patriots, you run and take that
nope. Didn't get that one. Bill Belichick beat a rookie quarterback
in Foxborough. Weird. Horrible pickpinder. The other two got
through. Washington loses by a field goal, but that's better than
three and a half, and Seattle's a good football team question.
You and I both had that one.
Boom, boom.
In real life, I actually had the commanders, but I had them at three.
So that was the push.
And you know what?
I had him at three, went to Betline the morning of the bets, three and a half.
So thank you, betline for the extra half point there.
It makes me a winner on the board.
Yeah, New England thumped the Colts.
Frank Reich fired today as the coach.
He gone.
And so to recap, and I know we're not.
super heavy NFL. He's had old man
Phil Rivers and old man
Matt Ryan and is like... And Carson
Wence. And like 10 games over 500
and he's fired. Yeah.
Maybe it's the GM.
40 and 33,
I believe his career record. Although he had a tie
against Houston this year. How was he 43?
That's a team, right? Jim's the
owner. He's... Get a driver, Jim.
Something like that. Yeah.
And stay out of the sun. It's very...
Is that right? Yeah. Okay. He's got a whiskey
nose going there. Oh, he does, yeah.
We'll take a look at my picks.
I believe I got the one correct.
Seattle, yeah.
Had the Seattle.
Did you see Hopkins and Little Kyler arguing on the sidelines there yesterday?
They were bickering.
They were in a spat.
It was like you and Warner, yipping and snipping at each other.
How about Kenneth Walker, the third?
Kenneth, yes.
Holy.
Guy's a player.
It's to the point now where if you're like a fantasy nerd and you're in a dynasty,
you're like there might not be a running back you want to own for the next 10 years more than that cat.
Good player.
had Carolina plus seven and a half.
You just loved PJ Walker.
Remember that throw?
You were in love after last weekend.
Five touchdowns for Joe Mixon as the Bengals,
4221.
So almost doubled.
I was very close on that one.
They come alive.
Yeah.
And I was with Red.
I felt like this was going to be a good for a blowout one.
A nice get right spot.
The Jets, look at the Jets.
They're running backs out.
Come on.
No.
Way off.
You know what the Jets do well?
Let's play defense.
Sauce.
Sous.
Sousy.
Statement game from the...
It absolutely was a statement game for the Jets.
With Zach Wilson, who left at one point and then came back.
It's, uh, if your quarterback's that bad and you can still beat the bills, that's a good defense.
Decent.
Hey, why don't we do this?
Let's do the Pinder report, shall we?
All right.
You put, uh, the boys have put in a bunch of work here to get to the Pinder report.
Yeah, it's a lot of, you know, talking about sports and reading Twitter.
These guys don't talk about this.
I don't want to hear about your life.
I don't care about your kids.
Shut up.
Talk sports.
Yeah.
Glad that's gone away.
Village Honda, your dealership for life in the Northwest, Auto Mall, everything automotive.
Go and visit village Honda.
Village Honda.com.
It's the Pinder Report.
Thank you, Dean.
Hey, it's a flames game day.
So you better get your helmet on.
That's right.
03 and 1 in their last four in action on Long Island, Nassau County, that brand new rink.
How about that, Rhett?
It's 7 o'clock Sabres time, 5 here in Calgary.
There's the aisles.
That sure is the same forward group that Lou Lamarillo's had forever, isn't it?
You're like, okay, Wallstrom's kind of new, and yep, that's the islanders.
That's them.
Right?
I mean, if you bought a jersey in the last five years, you're good.
And I don't want to get too off track, but remember when we're not.
when Daryl arrived and you're like, maybe the flames can be Islanders West.
And then last year they actually scored a lot and weren't Islanders West.
Please don't look like this in two years, Flames.
A bunch of vets.
Yeah, boy.
Clutterbuck.
Of course, he's clutterbucking all the time.
He's the best clutter buck he can be.
And I don't know how to feel about Noah Dobson.
He wasn't a flame, but it was the pick they traded to get Hamannick.
So if we stay to our old flame score against the Flames rule, I feel like Dobson's gray area.
I'm not playing the anytime bet.
And Sebastian Ajo, in fairness, star.
Just not this one.
And just misplaced here as a defenseman.
Yeah.
The one you know is in Carolina.
So that's who the Islanders look like.
As for the flames,
they went back to the old jazz standards.
And it sounds like the only changes from Saturday to tonight
will be Nick D. Simone,
the 27-year-old defenseman making his NHL debut
and paired with Connor Mackey.
Oh, boy, Nick.
Speaking of Connor Mackey,
We talked about we...
Connor.
You don't need...
I'll see.
It was a tough first period,
Rhett, and I don't know that the second and third were way better,
but he didn't get scored on three times
and take a penalty in the second or the third.
That is your tweet.
Connor McRanglers, am I right?
I mean, obviously, literally, they can't
because they're too hurt,
but if it's healthy Stone and Healthy Tannav,
like I think Daryl puts them on the Mars mission at this point.
And I do like the time.
time, 8.40 on the night of an 8 p.m.
That's the first intermission right there, I believe,
or at least after the third goal,
rough night for Connor. And look, they like
him, the organizations liked him for a while. I do believe
they liked him more than Velamaki, and it was a rough game that
doesn't mean he's horrible. I'm exaggerating, joking to make a point and get
likes here, but yes, it was a tough night. Is that what you're doing?
For Mackey, who's back in tonight with D. Simone.
Not being a prick. Oh, absolutely being a Richard. That's part of the
likes. Yeah. Got it.
Speaking of looking for likes, Dean had noted it just as I was tweeting it.
Down in the first period at a pathetic effort on home ice on hockey night in Canada for the opening 20,
some knuckleheads in the 100s tried to start the wave.
This is a Pinder backpack item.
The wave.
Pinder hates the wave.
Are you up five nothing celebrating what a wonderful time you're having?
The wave is a euphoric.
Hey, we're having fun.
What was fun about the first period and the devils if you were wearing a flame?
Jersey was no it was one of the worst periods they've had this year and some dunce is trying to
start the wave in the one hundreds like it's going to lift up the boys on the bench go and pender
you're just not a real fan you're not there to help the team you're just there to take that's what
you're not a giver like that guy uh so that's that those are the takeaways from the weekend the
mcrangler and the wave that's all i got from saturday that's good that's enough and duttons was
in fine form i're going to tear down
the saddle on some point and we'll lose the greatest bar in the city.
Let's go to some news that'll make Rhett very happy, I think, as the Buffalo Sabres had some news
this morning that some will say is very visually appealing.
Remember the old Buffalo Head jersey?
Kind of remix that with the red?
Made fun of it the other day.
Well, the Buffa Slug I don't like.
This one, I don't mind.
Thoughts here, Rhett?
I made it look good.
Well, I mean, who's to say?
Do we have any evidence or proof that you made it look good?
I mean, that's just a claim that can't be substantiated.
You could watch it.
People were watching it in June and the Stanley Cup playoffs.
Yeah.
I don't mind the red there.
See, I like, I like them.
Looks good.
But they're a little busy with the swooshes and the swips up the side there and on the sleeves.
If you just kind of, if you just go traditional with the stripe on the bottom, because I like the logo.
The color's good.
Colors are really good.
I kind of, yeah.
Yeah.
One or the other on the sleeves.
You don't need both.
Yeah.
And the font and the name bars and the numbers, it's atrocious.
Yeah, well, that's where they're showing the front.
It's gross.
Do we have a ret?
I feel like we have a ret.
We should have a rat.
So you wore these back in the day?
These.
The originals.
No, this is a long of see a remix here, yeah.
That's fairly similar.
Look at that, eh?
Wow.
Soft hands on that guy.
Soft hair, soft hands.
We're in a.
Hard fists.
Who was out?
Who was injured?
Oh, Dean.
Ferrada
Leader
Are you hung over there or is that
Stuy Barnes?
Was the Stew Bar is on the shell?
What's that face tell you?
It really doesn't matter if I was hung over
I still played great.
Either way, I was deadly.
Okay, so the Sabres, we like that jersey.
My advanced stats.
Yeah, you did have good metrics.
I mean, you didn't play a lot while they're there,
but a couple good years.
Off the glass and it works.
Don't crack on the guy.
So while the Sabers may have done that jersey right,
who's getting everything wrong?
The Boston Bruins.
I mean, on the ice, wonderful.
Players were apparently asked by management about signing Mitchell Miller.
Said, no, we don't really think that's a good idea.
Oh, we've done our homework.
We've been working on this over a year.
No, we didn't talk to the family of the victim here.
So in very Bruins fashion, they've more announcements on the weekend.
If you want to know more about the story, you can Google it.
It's everywhere and every show on Earth right now.
And it's a bad look for the Bruins and they've already rescind it.
It's twice that he's been.
signed or drafted and then immediately
undone.
It's almost like they didn't learn their lesson
the first time.
I'm not sure.
Could you have talked to someone?
Yeah, they should have.
Feel like you could have
there again, Google it.
A go, yeah, if you go, probably there's a
bunch of sites or
search articles, yeah.
Oh, look, there's a lot coming up on
this kid that we're thinking of signing.
Ooh, seems like a bad character.
Maybe we shouldn't.
Now, do we have the tweet about the Brun signing a bad character?
That would be lovely, Alex.
There we are.
Yeah.
So the Brun signed Jeffrey Dahmer entry-level contracts.
The internet.
Jeff.
I laughed a lot.
I really liked it.
Did you watch that?
I can't bring myself to watch that thing.
I can't either.
I can't do it.
You wouldn't like it.
The Ozzy Sheila's like, we got to watch us.
I'm like, you want to watch what before you try to get to sleep at night?
You're going to have nightmares.
No way.
Like summer.
No, not now.
Okay. Other NHL items, Rhett, Josh Anderson's suspension?
Nearly a flame, forever a flame? Josh Anderson?
Did you see this hit?
Alex Petrangelo got a huge bite of the dasher board in front of his own bench here.
You got to keep your head up.
And it wasn't the only suspension. Matthew Kachuk as well.
So any thoughts and comments on either of those would be just lovely.
Kach is having a tremendous season.
Suspended for two games.
Did you see this one, Red?
He's in a pile up around the net.
I didn't see it.
I heard they stuck quick in the face or something like that.
Yeah, and it's just standing there.
And he kind of like pretends he's not trying to
and just subtly puts his stick through the eye hole on the goaltending mask.
And it's like you don't mess with someone's eyes.
I mean, Rhett today on the show.
If people are touchy, you don't mess around with their eyes.
It's not like goalies need their eyes, right?
Oh, quick was hot.
Oh, look it.
That's pretty good.
Yeah.
Got them.
You got them.
And finally,
Princey,
you had said
there was a wildly entertaining
Jamie Ben,
Zach Hyman interaction.
Did you see the whoop in the stars
put on the Oilers on Saturday?
Holy moly.
Tough start for soupy.
Well,
he usually settles in after three,
but he didn't.
Six.
No, six.
Hoof.
Yeah, yeah.
All right.
It's unfortunate.
American Hockey League News.
Is there a panic button's being pushed around?
I mean,
they're going to outscore most of those.
issues and skinner's been pretty good.
So I don't know.
There's a show after us will tell us all the reasons they're great.
So you can leave it to them.
They're good team.
Wranglers, big win on the weekend at home.
Oh, here it is.
Yeah, the friendship.
Oh, push your stick away.
Yeah.
Oh, and now I'm going to give you a shot.
A little shot right down the back of the head.
Friends off.
There we go.
But you watch it.
It'll start here.
So it's like, yeah, everything's good.
I'm just going to give you one of those.
Oh.
You really going to do that?
Oh, and then poke it away.
And then it was a vintage Jamie Ben Knight.
I don't know how many more you're going to see.
But this on a night that he gets a hat trick and, I think a helper as well, that's,
that's not Lady Bing material right there.
No, and you do remember he was a force of nature for a long time in this league.
It was like mean, tough, front of the net.
And, oh, yeah, there's an Art Ross or whatever.
Okay.
American Hockey League Wrangler is putting up some big numbers after a sluggish start.
the season in that opening weekend. They went eight three on the weekend. And look who's leading
the American hockey league and goals, Red. Oh, here we go. Didn't we just have this ramp the other day?
Ret did. I was quite impressed. I know. Ret went off. Bing! There's Phillips.
Eight in nine games. Is that right, Princey, eight and nine? Oh, man. What do you got to do?
What do you have to do? It's a good question. I mean, if you played defense, I feel like you'd have a
better chance of being up with where they're at with the cap and bodies. But it's good to see them
playing well. Conor Zari's getting a lot of nice reviews, albeit the floor mopped up with them
in a tilt midwink. Yeah, it's not a fighter. Can't win them all? And yeah, Phillips says right there,
top of the American hockey league and goals. Out of boy, Maddie. You can't control. Baba.
You can only control what you can control. Go play well, son. Keep it up. If only they had a guy
that could slide in the top nine, though. Looking for another top nine guy.
NFL real quick bills lose
Josh Allen with an amazing quote after a loss
There's not many they're usually pretty shitty
But here's here's the quarterback for the bills
Why the bills lost in New York
Against their division rivals the Jets
I like this one along it's very good
We're gonna need it at some point here
Perfect
It's tough to win when your quarterback plays like shit
He said it
Yeah no no that wasn't the coach it was the quarterback that said that
Well, he's honest.
I like this guy.
How do you not?
The King of Buffalo, the mayor.
So how many more performances like that and all of a sudden the shines off, though?
Right.
I've just wondered.
What are they?
Six and twos.
There's no shine off for this guy.
Come on.
Because he's beloved.
It's just confetti kissing his feet.
He's the greatest thing going.
Well, and if he's not, I know the guy who is.
Because as good as Josh Allen's been, who beat him in the playoffs last year and who with their game on the line in third and 16.
last night on Sunday night football
did this against a very good Titans defense.
Patrick Mahomes,
the arm wasn't great necessarily yesterday.
The offense sputtered,
but when they needed plays,
it was his legs that got it done
and it was magic.
Watch this.
Okay, this isn't the right one,
but that's my fault.
That's into the house.
Yeah.
He had a third and 16 scramble,
I believe, that same drive.
It's weird because he,
he's good at it,
but he doesn't look,
it looks to me like he's getting
a little clunky.
year now.
That feels like strong criticism.
I feel like it's Lamar and him.
Didn't he have the Liz Frank or what did he hurt his toe a couple years in the
playoffs?
Getting old.
I think you take that guy,
don't you?
Liz Frank.
What the heck are you talking about?
I don't expect you to know, Rhett.
Liz Hurley?
Finally, the Stameter season is over, boys.
I don't know if you how much caught the West semi-final in B.C., decent crowd.
I caught about a quarter.
I caught a quarter of it.
Yeah.
And it was Bowley-Vy-Mitch.
The last couple drives, he had more yardage than Jake Mayer, the rest of the game combined.
It was not a great day for that.
And a lot of questions to be asked, hey, remember the last time the stamps on a playoff game?
It was the Great Cup in 2018.
Really good regular seasons, I believe.
Oh, there was COVID.
COVID wiped out entire season.
You cherry picking.
They didn't wake up two seasons.
Cherry pickin is what you're doing.
19, 20, 21.
So two of the three years.
Yeah, it's been a while since they're in a playoff game.
And that's a hell of a program.
They need a bounce back.
next year, at least in the blouse.
That's it.
Boe! Enjoy Regina.
Bo's out.
Experience Regina.
He's going to love Regina.
Gonna love it.
Pinda Report, brought you by Village Honda.
Come and see why Calgarians are making the trip to Village Honda.
VillageHonda.com.
You know what?
Dealership for Life.
Village Honda.
Okay.
For Life.
Northwest Automall.
LW.
We are the outsiders.
We really are.
What's up for the rest of the day there, Warner?
More charity work, Dean.
We're going to go down and get people to check their PSA levels.
Public service announcement?
I don't know what it stands for, actually.
But it's for something.
It's for the kids.
Yeah, it's for something.
It might be for old men, I think.
Is it PSA your prostate stuff?
I think so.
I think that's a good preventative test.
Good reminder for everyone over a certain age.
Are you conducting the test?
Is that what you're doing?
You freak.
I don't know why we need to be there.
They've got us there.
I don't know what the...
To draw a crowd?
Well, they want to know what an asshole looks like.
Oh, boy.
I'm leaving.
Have a great day, right?
I'm done.
I'm done.
What?
He's done.
He's done.
You're...
What?
Even the sun couldn't save him today.
Just a barrage from both left and right on the screen.
Yeah, he clicked.
He's done.
He's frozen on the YouTube.
Have a great day, Rhett.
But he's gone.
Tomorrow, Frank Cerrivelli will be by.
Another game day tomorrow as well.
A lot of flames hockey here.
I had a food story.
Well, I was going to, for Bontan meets,
I was going to be able to loop red in and see.
But he left.
But he's gone.
So so much for that.
He didn't like the racquetball comment.
There's a lot of things he doesn't like.
But he's been much better.
He's been very good this week.
He's been great.
And last week, ever since Alex's mom ripped him a new.
Yeah. She is, she's the fixer.
Yeah.
Did you know that our boys over at Tower were in Vancouver for that game yesterday?
Come on.
Surge and Chris, they flew out.
Oh, man.
And, uh, well, they got to see Bose last few drives.
I guess so.
Yeah.
I got the photo, uh, took a photo with the bare naked ladies.
Really?
Stephen Page, bare naked ladies were at the game.
They were very excited to be there.
Tup, Tiff, Tif, Tini, Ticken, Ticka, Tick.
Something like that, yeah.
And your brain stops ticking with the lights on and Don Lomais on.
So yeah, Franks are of L.A.B.
And we'll talk about that big oiler or the big flame win over the Islanders tonight.
Yeah.
It's going to be game day again.
Can't believe Clutterbuck and Luch went at it.
Can't believe it.
Can't believe it.
But thanks for being a part of the program.
We'll be back tomorrow and that thing is.
Oilers Nation every day.
Coming up next on YouTube.
See ya.
See you.
See you, buddies.
