Try that again.
How are we doing, everybody?
Welcome to the podcast here on a Thursday.
How's our levels?
How are the levels?
Check, level?
You can hear me?
Everything good?
Sound all right?
Can you hear, Dean?
Why is it called a podcast?
Deep question to start the show.
Well, see you, buddies.
See you, buddies.
Thanks, Red.
No, seriously.
I have no.
Why is anything called anything?
Jack?
Why is television called television?
I don't know.
I think it's because it's Latin for.
technical visual.
Is that what it is?
So what is podcast Latin for?
No, it's Spanish.
How do you know?
It's Spanish.
Podcast.
Yeah, that's right.
I'm not going to argue with your Latin.
I know that.
No, you're not.
No.
When it comes to you and you're Latin,
I'm going to just defer to you.
And when I get into my pig Latin,
really look out.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Well, you know, it's, here's the thing.
Let's do the thing off the top,
and then we'll move on to happy stuff.
Do you want to do that?
You drive the bus.
Hello?
Yeah, the thing.
Okay, go do the thing, Dean, let's go.
You're the driver.
Last night at just outside the west doors of the Saddle Dome,
an emotional night for, I mean, an amazing crowd
that showed up for the candlelight vigil.
for both Johnny and Matthew Goddrow.
We saw in Columbus.
And, you know, I thought it was, again,
greater minds than I,
I wouldn't have thought for the two teams
to collaborate and come together,
but they did.
They had the one in Columbus,
which was followed up shortly thereafter
by the one in Calgary,
both teams, of course.
Mourning the loss of Johnny Goddrow
and, of course, his brother Matthew.
And I guess, I mean,
we can, you can see some of the,
the,
some of the sites and the visuals from last night.
They had the,
uh,
they had the drone up in the air to kind of give some perspective.
That's an amazing shot right there as, uh, at sundown.
They asked everybody to turn on their camera lights.
They also had a,
uh,
kind of a flame thing that you could download on your phone off of the flames app.
Yeah.
And there it is there.
Uh,
pretty amazing stuff.
Proud of the city.
Proud of the team.
Michael Backland, Lainty McDonald, Craig Conroy, great job in honoring Johnny.
And in Columbus, I just wanted to share a little bit of this.
Of course, Erica Branson and his teammate from Calgary, they both went to Columbus in the same off-season.
They were good friends, their wives' friends, the whole thing.
Here's a little piece of what Good Branson had to say last night.
Last year, all our equipment staff were really losing their minds the day before training
camp because John used the same skates for two years and he showed up with a skate with no
toe cap on it and they couldn't fix it. And it turns out the day before he was drying his gear
in the driveway and he ran it over with his escalade.
Yeah, and on a personal note, it's something that I'll, uh, I'll, uh, yeah, and on a personal note, it's something that I'll,
very dearly missed.
I had this little thing with John where I'd pick him up and give him a bear hug.
And I wouldn't let him down until he told me he loved me.
And he wouldn't tell me for a long time.
But I know up here today that it was because he enjoyed the hugs.
And it's just we just missed him so much.
Cole Cillinger also had some words to say, I believe it was Boone Jenner, the captain also took to the mic.
Funeral will be held in Philadelphia on Thursday.
Sorry, on Monday.
Today is Thursday.
So I don't know what that scene is going to be like.
As I can only imagine, I'm told the church holds in the neighborhood of 750.
They were saying they could hold it at the Wells Fargo Center, and it would be full in Philadelphia.
Philadelphia. So it's still, it's, I sat there watching that thing last night. It still doesn't seem real.
Just to, to see all of the people and all of the emotions for a guy that you can't, I just, it's, it's terribly tragic.
It's just not getting any, it's not getting any easier to wrap your head around for sure.
Does it make any more sense today than it did a week ago?
Yeah.
a lot of tributes and things are, of course,
pouring in from around the hockey world.
One of the ones that came up,
I guess it was a couple days ago,
as Cole Caulfield,
American, smallish forward,
highly skilled,
looked up to Johnny Goddrow, hero.
He is going to switch his number
to 13 with the Montreal Canadians this year
in honor, tribute,
to Johnny Goddreau.
So that is, yeah.
Yeah.
And again,
there's all,
kinds of things that are going on, but, uh, missing them, still missing them. And the funeral will be,
uh, I know that the flames are sending out a huge contingent as you may expect. And that'll be a
tough day. You talk about things you don't look forward to doing, but that'll be a tough day for
everyone involved. And whether you're there or not, that'll be a tough one. So there, that was
what I was saying, we'll get that stuff
kind of out of the way. Well done by
the flames, by the way. Looked great.
I was there. It was. They did a great
job. Like you said, Lanny and Craig
spoke very well. Backland had
did a fine job as well.
So the people out there, it was
pretty emotional stuff
down at the dome last night.
Yeah.
Unbelievable crowd too.
Which is not surprising,
but to see it.
it does make you proud.
I know that Blake Coleman had put on Twitter.
He had reposted it.
I think it was Ryan Leslie had put a shot of the crowd.
He's like, I've never been more proud of the Sea of Red.
And it's down the road.
And it does not matter.
But it kind of felt like one of those nights where as a team,
as a group,
hasn't been a whole lot to cheer about if you're a Flames fan.
Sure brought a lot of Flames fans together.
A lot of people have.
and proud to be Calgary and to be Flames fans and take pride in the jersey and the players
and the history and all of that last night.
The craziest part is the actual team that knows them the least.
Like there's only a handful, less than a handful of guys left since Johnny's left,
which is crazy.
But this fan made.
It's like Backlin, Coleman, Anderson, Lidar.
That's it.
Yeah, I guess so.
Not wild.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Backland, give him credit.
That's, I mean, look at me.
I sit here and I mumbled and stumble around.
Guy knew him for whatever it was, nine, ten years.
Entirety, yeah.
Yeah.
So that is that.
We move on with, uh, now I don't know what else we're going to do today.
There's, uh, there's some football that's going to be played tonight, I believe.
Of the, uh, four down variety, as they say.
Talk to Doug yesterday.
with DUG, very excited for some quality couch time.
It's that right, eh?
It's starting.
Well, I know Jack's excited because the Labor Day was Monday.
So now the CFL season is started as well.
Yeah, now it's real.
So we have two fun of all season.
You must be so excited.
Also,
like Christmas.
Also excited because my team looks so good in fantasy.
And I'm sure we'll get to all my picks and why I took them.
Four bills.
I was curious who was picking your team is as,
as the draft,
on. I'm like, okay, Blake Corum,
Roma Dunes, who's picking Warner's team? Because it's not Warner.
So who was picking your team? It was,
it was clear as shit who,
that you were not in charge of your team. No,
what I did was I could only stay for all because I had to get down to the dome.
And so I picked the first,
the first few, but then I queued, no, I didn't want,
because that stupid auto pick, pick you a defense in round five.
Just whatever the highest ADP play.
And I just went click, click, click, click, click.
Because I'm like, I can get a kicker today.
I don't need a round six.
You do need to go to a new kicker.
You know what?
It's like you always say with central scouting.
It's like, why do you even have a scouting department?
Just take the central, NHL Central Scler.
They send that shit out.
Just who's next?
They do.
Click, click, click, click, click.
It's probably not a bad way to do it.
I was very impressed with your team.
I was impressed with your team, Dean.
You had a steamroller of a draft.
going. I'd like to a lot of your picks.
You moaned about your draft position,
which is, I think, the ninth anniversary
of that, no matter where you are, you moaned to.
I didn't complain one bit.
Dean yesterday on the show mowed about picking first
over as I want it.
Back to back years, I had the first pick
and then I had to sit and watch a whole
string of players go.
At least I didn't have to do that this year
because I was 14th out of 14.
As I watched a whole bunch of players go.
Where did you like to pick, Dean? Maybe we'll just
put you in next year.
Yeah.
If you,
although it would be the end of a tradition of whining about no matter where you pick.
And what do they call that,
the Calcutta?
You could buy your spot in the draft.
That's not quite a Calcutta,
but sure.
I see what you're saying.
You could do that.
We could bid for a spot for sure.
Where would be good?
Judging by his logic,
it would be right in the middle.
Seven?
Wouldn't you want to be somewhere in there where you're not having huge swaths of players being
taken?
It's just different.
I don't know.
I'd say it's better or worse.
I mean,
It's nice when you've got a list and you can say right now I can take two.
Like that's nice.
But you're right.
Then you've got to wait a bit.
I feel like you're less probably worried about ADP when you're picking it at the ends because it's like you got to 20 guys roll before you get up again.
If you like, I take them now.
It's hard because you don't get to really kind of take gambles, I think, early.
Because if you don't take a quarterback, you've got 27 players going before you pick again.
It's like, if I don't get a quarterback now, I'm going to be stuck.
with Bo Knicks or something.
I don't know one quarterback league.
There's lots of quarterbacks.
But I hear what you're saying.
Like it's if you wanted one of those top five tight ends,
if you put Kincaid and or Trey McBride in the group with the four guys,
like that.
Yeah.
It's like if you don't get one.
Let's see simply the breast.
It won't be there.
Let's see the retro.
Simply the breast here.
So Alan went early.
See, that's the thing, Dean.
If you like a guy, go get him.
Yeah.
Alan went.
very early. Roma
adunze,
Blake Corum,
Josh Downs, Key on,
I was like, what is happening here?
Look at all the youth.
Xavier worthy. If they pop, they pop,
baby. It's going to be impressive stuff.
How many bills?
Four. Just four. It's got Ray Davis, the backup running back.
All Putsi over there took my running back.
Just four.
Just four.
Here's the thing about James Cook,
available in trade rest.
Well, McCaffrey's
up for sale as well. I think that's a fair deal. Let's go. Let's go to the drunken, where is he?
The drunken or it was neutered dad. I thought it was drunk.
There we are. I still don't have a kicker, which is giving me a issue. Neither do I.
And I really was waiting for someone in the tight ends that no one was left. Jack scooped me.
I was looking for the, uh, the Muth and the Hawkinson double up. But I've got great depth on the
bench. So we'll see what that leads me to. I hate my tight ends. So how long is
Roshy Rice, I went early on, love him.
I think he's going to have a monster year.
I think Casey's offense is back this year.
And then Rico Doudal could be the man in Dallas
because all he has to do is be better than a couple fossils.
I had Doudel,
Brian Thomas Jr.
And Roshy Rice is my,
those are kind of my heart picks.
And you took all three.
It's a beautiful.
Well, Jack, where's your team?
Jack, come on, Jack.
Come on, Jack.
Come on, yeah.
Come on, Jack.
We got a boomer team, too.
Little Antonio clown.
Let's see it.
I don't even remember.
I did so many.
This is so funny.
You're going to love this.
before I went on air.
He's like,
who took me?
Who ended up with Malik neighbors?
And then I pulled out on the roster.
Oh,
shoot.
I've got a lot of drafts lately.
Probably too many, Jack.
I know.
I'm liking my team here.
Look at the stack he's got here.
This is a DJ Moore,
Caleb Williams.
This is the Williams Moore stack in Chicago.
And he's got Malik.
Interesting.
Derek Henry has a raven.
fascinating. He's got both running backs tonight.
How about that? Pacheco and Henry.
And then, yeah, I stole Hawkinson from you.
He's got Nick Chubb in every league. He loves dead guys.
That's exciting.
Doing the dead guys again this year.
Only one IRR spot, hey, Jackinson and Chubb.
Only one of the odds. One of those guys plays in the next month and two months.
I don't know.
I don't know. I like this. I didn't want Caleb Williams.
I was telling Ryan, someone took Mahomes and then they took Tua.
It was Wills.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, he, he took my homes and then two a later.
Took my homes and then took two a later and then offered my homes for a trade.
I was pissed.
Let's see Bomer's team.
That's the only thing we haven't seen here, isn't?
Yeah, you put mine up.
Did we put it up already?
I thought we started with rents.
No, started with mine.
Yeah, started with mine.
Exciting.
But you can put it up, Jag, if you want.
I mean, it's for the 14th out of 14.
I, uh, I love the analysis.
Uh, before anyone's played a snap.
I'll have feelings about our teams and none of them are valid.
I don't recall getting my grade, my draft grade.
Are they doing that still?
Do we get you right?
You can go out of your grade, I'm sure.
I don't know if I did either.
Here's the thing.
Whichever draft service you use and go off their list, they're giving you the A.
So I was like a D on Yahoo and then fantasy pros are going to A.
I'm like, all right.
Well, I find whichever website you drafted off.
Wow, they liked your picks.
If you just did that auto pick where they take the next highest ADP according to their list.
God, they love you.
great. God, you're smart. You're so smart.
So now the, I guess we're heading into week one of the NFL season. So what is it,
Ryan, the Jack chart? We've got the Jack chart going. We've been working on the Jack Cam,
having a tough time with the Jack Cam, but we will have RJ next week with the
official Jack chart after the week one result. He said earlier this week, he's a five out of
10 on the Steelers enthusiasm meter on the Jack chart. So it's Thursday. Things will wrap up before
Sunday, but Russell Wilson has been announced as the starter.
Najee is ready to go.
I took Najee in support of my good buddy.
Yeah, you did?
Yes, I did.
He was two a couple of weeks ago on the enthusiasm out of 10.
He was five earlier this week.
I think we need to check back in.
He's not looking at me.
I'm still right in the middle.
I'm not too high.
I'm not too low.
It's a feel out game.
Pickens.
Pickens.
Hey, their offense is just, they don't have any weapons.
Noges is going to run it.
He's going to run.
Naugy better.
Run his ass.
Give us a really enthusiastic.
Russell Wilson's a great guy.
I'm not doing that.
Let's ride.
Let's ride.
Yeah.
Let's stretch out the plane.
Let's ride.
It's not riding.
Let's ride, Jeff.
After week one,
I might be ready to ride.
They got Atlanta.
I don't know if Atlanta's good either.
That's a weird game.
Yeah.
I don't even care.
I just want to be on my coach with food.
Oh, Red Zone's going to be.
excited.
Scott.
all of a sudden.
Mm-hmm.
He's done okay.
We found out where I'm going to start my own,
but there is a Bill's Mafia bar here in town.
That's right.
Yeah, there is one.
I'm not going to mention it because they're not part of the show.
Good for you.
No free plugs.
That's good.
Oh, that's an excellent segue to what?
So you are my own Bill's Mafia thing.
I got to find a spot to go.
Okay.
Who's behind me here?
Sunday morning.
we have brunch,
Caesars,
beer and clams.
Sure.
What do you hang?
Oh,
I'd rather watch Red Zone.
The guy that is up for everything,
I want to go watch football.
Yeah,
okay.
We get Red Zone on a separate screen.
I'm there,
let's go.
I know it's tough.
I'm not a Bills fan.
What the hell?
Support me for once.
Okay.
Done your shit for years.
I hope that James Cook has a great year.
Now,
Chargers.
Yes.
Uh,
What's the jack chart for you and your hopes and dreams?
Here's, I think it's funny because I think some people are irrational fans.
Most are.
I think I've been very, very logical on how bad this team has been for and not fallen for the hype.
And they finally do have a good coach.
They're still not good.
I mean, last year they had.
This is the worst fan I've ever heard.
You're terrible.
They've downgraded the tight end and a wide receiver and probably at running back.
But they rebuilt the line.
They were in Capel.
This is the turnaround begins.
They're not going to be good,
but this is when they start to stop being idiots
and going for it on fourth and three at their own 20
and dumb shit like that.
Now, who's their coach?
It's Harbaugh.
Right.
Did you guys watch the Harba?
Well, it's not the Harbaugh, I guess.
But on Netflix,
they have those,
I guess they're kind of documentaries
about the sign Steeler
with the University
of Michigan with the Wolverines and Harbaugh.
It just came out a couple weeks ago on Netflix.
And it's about this guy who was a huge U of M fan growing up,
loved the Wolverines, Michigan, Michigan, Michigan.
And he started on his own deciphering.
I forget what he calls it sign deciphering.
He doesn't call it sign stealing,
but because you can't have headphones in your ears in college football.
So he would be watching the other.
sideline to see what they were doing as far as, you know, signals to the, to the quarterbacks
and that. And then, you know, this kid's pretty good at this. And he wormed his way in. And all of a sudden,
the, the Wolverines went from straight shit and Harbaugh doesn't know what he's doing to
quite a turnaround. And how about this? They won on the Rose Bowl on New Year's Day and then all the
way to a national championship. Well, how about that? It's pretty good. It's not a small program.
And they've, they've had lots of runs. But, uh, yeah, I think if you know what the other team's
trying to accomplish, that's a nice little advantage you've got. It seems helpful. I don't know.
Seems like you should be trying to do that like, you know, everyone else would be doing.
Yeah. Yeah. That'll check. Apparently now, because of all of this, you can now have,
they've got the headphones. Headphones. Headphones. Now we have nerds stealing the signals in the air to
the headphones. Got it. That's right. Now, wouldn't a really techy guy like Jack.
here just pick up some sort of thing at Radio Shack.
Like a ham radio.
Radio Shack.
Transistor.
Radio Shack.
I'll tell you what.
Latin for house of radio.
I've been talking to this for a while.
We're in the process of trying to clean out all of our stuff to get our,
you talk about Radio Shack.
There is some old gear that this guy has held on to over the years.
Never mind before the radio thing starts.
Oh, what's the?
Cutting tape?
Some realistic radio, some radio.
Oh, yeah.
I've got some reel to reels down there,
some three quarter inch tapes that I don't know where you'd even find the machine to play
them anymore.
Oh, yeah.
Rett's starting a Bell's bar.
You should start a museum.
Oh, yeah.
That's true.
So where are we putting this bar retro?
I don't know, but it's going to have to be a little bit south, I think.
Yeah.
It's got to be somewhere where you can.
I'd have you, but I'm a, I'm a cards guy.
We're going to have you over here.
Don't think you're getting any drink specials.
I've already bankrupt to this place with my time.
tabs.
He's going to New York this weekend.
He's going to tennis.
You're a tennis guy.
No, I want to trip.
I don't give a shit.
I miss that guy.
Me too.
Yeah,
I love that guy.
Washington's a cover machine.
You know what?
I've got a little, you know how I am with math.
Mm-hmm.
That scares me.
What do we got?
A little work this morning.
I don't know who.
deserves, who deserves, maybe McLeod Law, I'm not sure.
Because maybe, I'm trying to think, Mike Milbury, probably could have used some legal assistance, could have used some help anyway, could have used some help.
But we'll do this, this little kind of maybe day in history or walk down memory lane for McLeod Law.
Shane King, partner in the litigation and dispute resolution group specializing in areas like employee rights being laid off or terminated can be hard.
Shane, he'll review your situation, make sure you've been treated fairly as.
the law requires using a practical approach in plain language, not that legal mumbo jumbo.
None of that stuff. None of it.
It's like Latin.
It is, if you say so.
McLeod-dashlaw.com is the website.
Whatever your situation is, whatever your need is, personal business, they're the people.
Calgary folk.
Now, back in 2001, where were you in 01, retro?
How was it, Beelow?
Buffalo.
2001 draft
blockbuster deal
blockbuster trade involving the Ottawa
senators and the New York Islanders.
Now,
Alexei Yashin had just sat out an entire
season with the Ottawa senators.
It was not playing.
The 99-2000 season,
he said,
I have a contract for $3 million,
but you know what?
He was doing the NFL thing.
He says,
I don't care about this contract.
He's doing his suit,
Jamar Chase, before Jamar Chase was born.
He's like, three million.
I am worth much more than that.
So I'm going to hold out.
So we did for the whole year,
missed an entire season.
And then at the draft,
the Islanders finally found it in themselves.
This is a guy we need.
This kind of guy who will just sit out
at the expense of his teammates.
The ownership in Long Island.
This is exactly who we need.
So yes.
Mike Milbury swings a deal.
Off to Ottawa.
Mike.
For Alexei Ashin.
Bill McCall
Colt.
Criender, you know.
Windsor Spitfire.
It's a tall guy in the deal, I think.
Young hulking defenseman, not sure if he'll pan out, Zadano Chara.
That's the one, yeah.
And a first round draft pick in an upcoming draft,
which ended up being a second overall pick
where the Ottawa senator selected Jason Spetsa.
Oh, wow.
So Chara Spetsa McCall, for a disgruntled Alexey Ashen.
Yeah.
who has one like no more special.
Jeez.
Ashin was good.
I mean, yeah.
Yeah.
He was a third best player in the deal for sure.
Wasn't as good as Spenta.
Not at the time.
You didn't know.
Well, that's why we were tipping the camp.
Yeah.
So where this day falls in,
so they make the deal at the draft and then we got to get a deal worked out.
You know,
we've got to figure this out because this guy needs a contract.
Well, it was on this date in 01.
Yashin would sign a 10-year
$87.5 million deal.
September 5th and 2001.
Now this is 01.
875 is a lot of money now.
That's a hell of a hell of a good deal in 2020.
How good he was.
He was.
After six years,
one of those years was a lockout.
So there was no hockey to be played.
But after six years, three coaches, two GMs,
four fruitless trips to the playoffs,
one wrist laceration that cost him
almost an entire season, and
some locker room strife as the
C was taken off of Mike Pecca and put
onto his chest.
The Islanders bought out Yashid's
contract on June 6th of 2007.
Now, there was in,
now just for to kind of set out the math,
I had forgotten about this. Remember, well,
Brett, I don't need to tell you.
There was a CBA thing in 0405.
Yeah.
Contracts were rolled back.
24%
So he was making that
whatever 875
He had to have it rolled back to 7.6 million
Because of the legal
I don't know
You guys agreed to it that's so
Yeah
I don't know why you did to be fair
So it was easier right
This is great
It's only it's only 7.6
So the Islanders bought it out
The last four years of his contract
For two thirds
Of the 26.445
million left. That was going to be paid an equal yearly payments of 2.215 million over each of
the following eight seasons. So in the money that he made in the five years of hockey,
$58 million, a little more than that, almost $59 million, to be fair, plus the 17-7 in
eight years of buyout, he made, sorry, the total is $58 million.
million, $871, $448.448. All told, he played 346 games for the Islanders.
Made just over $170 grand a game. It's good rate if you can get it. Why not?
Finally, some hockey players getting their dude. Yep. Finally.
Alexei Ashen got paid. And you'd like to be able to, you know, son, daughter,
child here you can't behave like this he had a contract you got it you got you got to own up to this guy put himself first he didn't care about anybody else and this is a lesson clearly you can see why that type of behavior should not be uh condoned no good will come from it i think uh to be fair uh we'd all sign the paper if it was slid in front of us but the asking out ottawa thing was interesting that was kind of where they were a good team too the nchel drew the line and it was like
I think it went for arbitration or something.
Like, no, they give you your left or you.
It's owed.
The NFL is not like that.
It's probably something to do with you being able to cut guys
in over you want and not guaranteed salaries,
but we have not seen a holdout since then.
A guy has a contract and is refusing to show up.
We don't see it ever.
Well, and what's good?
You know, listen, it didn't work out well for the Islanders, right?
No.
Clearly, that's a lot of money for not a lot of,
you traded away good players.
You could have had them, at least.
they learned their lesson.
They're paying Rick D. Pietro every year
in a buyout until 2029.
Yeah, but they drafted him.
Mike also went and picked up,
disgruntled Mike Pecka.
So Milbury has twice he went and got guys
that didn't want to be around.
Yeah, he sure did.
We need these characters guys.
Well, and then they said, you know what?
Maybe Mike Milbury, who's a wonderful guy
who's a great storyteller and used to play.
And gosh, everyone's,
like so maybe he's not our GM.
Why don't we go get the old Goldie to be.
He's good.
And then Garth Snow started signing crazy deals.
Well, wasn't it snow that gave DePietro the.
Yeah.
Hey, buddy.
Hey, back up, buddy.
How?
How do you fall for?
I have not been cursed at all, but I've not had that sort of luck.
Why can't I fall up and just,
I think you've done.
Okay.
President of the NHO.
Oh, thank you.
There's four.
people on the show. I don't know that you've been
hardest hit with bad luck. I'm not saying, but there's
other people that have found themselves in
positions of power and you go,
how? So how's this
fall? Like, what
what were the details that
makes sense? How did this pass this
NIFTAS? You were the backup
last year and now you're the GM.
Ah. Okay.
Yeah.
Who was that owner?
Charles Wang?
Yeah. There's a long
Wang. That's who it was, right?
They had that whole light host project.
They fell through.
The whole thing was a disaster.
Yeah.
Christy's asking, when did the aisles finally make their last payment?
Well, I think they are.
I think it's every year until 2029.
When did they make their last one?
Not yet.
Yeah, like July 1.
It's like the Bobby Benia thing.
How long's that one going?
Because the Mets are paying that guy.
That guy in a ton of a year.
Yeah.
Honey, it's July 1.
Pick your favorite steakhouse.
Bag in the minute.
Yeah.
Pop the corks, baby.
We got another million dollars.
I would love, and there's no such video exists,
but I would love if you were able to
have a fly on the wall cam
where some of these players are signing these deals.
Because I remember seeing the one with Ty Domi
when he signed with the Leafs.
He was like, okay, so this is,
okay, so this here,
but his agent's like, yeah, that's every year.
That's every year?
That's the, that's not the total?
It's like, no, you're getting.
if not every year.
Where's the pen?
Like he's laughing out loud at the,
the atrocity of the contract
that has just been slid across the table to a pen,
pen, pen, pen, please.
Who gave pen, pen, please?
Who was the D-Man,
the Flamescline out of Pittsburgh?
They went to Vegas.
Oh, yeah.
Eric.
No, England.
England, yeah.
It was, oh, geez, that's the,
that's per year.
That's not total?
A year for three years?
That's three years.
What?
Were you working at the radio?
for that one?
Were you on with me that day?
No.
Well, because I'm at the dome.
He was on the phone, right?
Yeah.
So I'm at the dome with whoever.
Might have been Kerr.
Might not have been,
I'm trying to remember who it was.
Either way, I'm on my side of the table.
We're doing the July 1st stuff.
Steinberg is probably who it was.
And you don't have a direct communication
to the radio station,
except for the producer to talk,
into your ear.
And it's very faint.
And you know how my hearing is, right?
So we are going over this contract that has been given to Derek King.
Well, is it 3.3 or 3.5 million?
3.9.
3.5.
3.5.
3.5.
3.5.
We thought that was over three years.
It was a year.
Yeah.
There's something like that.
Yeah.
And I had texted Brandon Sutter, who played with him in Pittsburgh.
He's like, oh, this guy's awesome.
Everybody loves this guy.
He's a leader.
Sticks up for guys.
He'll fight.
They're going to love this guy.
So I'm in the middle of my
That's great and all
I'm sure this guy is a fine
A fine citizen
And guys are going to love him in the room
But this guy, he was healthy,
scratched in the playoffs.
I could have sworn you were working with
Because a guy didn't play in the playoffs
This guy's played home
Hardly any games, this and that
This is way too much.
And for three years or whatever,
however long the term was,
this is,
you cannot be spending this kind of money
On character guys.
He's standing up.
We've got Derek England on the line.
Joining us now, Derek England of the Calgary Flames.
Good afternoon.
Derek, congratulations on the deal.
Thanks.
It turned out all right.
Awkward.
Yeah.
He was healthy scratch for the Penguins of the playoffs year prior.
That was not true.
Yeah.
And then, of course, there was the, you talk about fly in the wall.
Give me a pen, pen, pen, pen.
we talked, we've talked about it,
when we had Mike Commodore on the day that he signed with Columbus.
I was going to say.
How's your day?
What?
Mike Commodore,
who at that point had played about,
what, nine games?
I,
boom,
played for the flames in the playoffs.
One full season in Columbus.
Yeah.
But he played,
Carolina and 06,
he wins the cup.
So the year after the lockout,
he's in Carolina.
Is that what it is?
Okay.
Yeah,
he wins the cup and hits free agency.
Sorry, yeah.
It goes to close.
And it's a monster deal.
Hey, Mike, how's your day?
Pretty good.
Won't lie to you.
Just, hey.
And that was Scott Housen,
the former assistant GM of the Oilers,
the newly minted GM of the Columbus Blue Jackets.
The newest up-and-comer.
Yeah, he was.
So I'm on a milk carton the other day.
Has anybody seen him since?
Jesus.
Like, where the hell is Scott Housen gone to?
I think he's the commissioner of the American hockey leagues, you know?
Is he?
Oh, you know what?
That's right.
Yeah, I don't know if he is still, but I already had that gig.
Anyway, hey, he was GM of a NHL club.
What have I done?
President of the H.L.
There you go.
Scotthausen.
Yeah, there you go.
Scott.
What did you do the day you signed your, the last extension, the three-year deal,
three-year deal, right?
Three-year with Daryl?
I knew it was coming.
I'd earned it.
Yeah.
I went to the shoveler I said.
I went to the gym.
Got to work.
You must have been one of those last two in my work boots.
Because if you're going to leave you for the time.
The sense of time for men.
You were at Fat Cap.
You were stressed.
Actually, we.
I don't want to go into it.
There was a lot of stress in life at that.
No, it's not the time.
All right.
All right.
We won't get into it.
I think I know what you're talking about.
Oh.
We're going to do some football stuff here.
Yes.
I feel like I want to do it now.
Let's do it right now.
I don't even want to wait for the pin-
One of the NFL season.
Let's go.
You want to do it?
Yeah.
Let's do it.
We should do it.
The NFL is back.
And what a banger of a game we've got for you tonight, ladies.
What a banger of a game.
Rematch team.
The defending champs,
the Kansas City Chief,
and the Baltimore
Ravens.
The new look Ravens
with that big,
big, big, big, big,
big running back they've got now.
He's big,
so big.
He's so big.
Led the NFL and rushing yards last year.
Is that right?
Believe so.
I was,
that caught me by surprise.
I'm like,
huh, still, eh?
Well, when he rips one off,
if he gets,
if he gets going,
that big body gets moving,
it gets in the clear
and bangs through a few,
Look out.
He's going to
like the
AACC.
Sorry.
It was,
Christian and then Derek.
Christian led the NFC.
Derek led the AFC.
Who's Christian?
McCaffrey.
Oh,
my,
you took it one.
The spot that he doesn't like picking from.
That's right.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Click, click, click, click, click, click, click.
But we're going to get into it.
Bet 365.
There you see at the top of your screen.

FN bonus.
FN bonus.
Whatever the sport, whatever the moment,
it's never ordinary at Bet365.
So over the years, we've just kind of come in.
We each pick three games, our three picks.
are the same. Sometimes we're on the other side. Sometimes they're completely,
none, no agreement across the board. But Jack had the idea, we should do a show parlay.
So maybe what we can, we can do our picks and then at the end, we'll, we'll kind of come together.
We'll see what we like, what we don't like, what we can agree on. And then there's other stuff too.
Come to a consensus. Maybe there's a way we can use our huge, huge brains. Right. And enlarged
hearts to come together with a sweet, sweet parlay.
Because parley is the way to go, right?
That's what you want to do.
Instead of we got on a show, you'd say the word parlay and you'd
burn that.
That's right.
Why you stupid?
There's only stupid people do parley.
Hey, to each their own.
Whatever you want to do in Bet 365.
We're not here to judge.
So we can get into some picks.
Rhett, you always, you never want to go first.
So let's, too late because you've already submitted your picks.
You've already submitted your picks.
Walk us through it.
We're doing point spread, of course.
Here is a look at what Retro's got.
Give us, give us the go ahead.
My deep analysis is that McCaffrey's going to pick up where he left off.
And I've also got Samuel as a wide receiver.
So for sure the nine, for sure the Niners are going to crush the jets.
Also, I don't like the jets and wild bill, no cheers for them.
It's all gross.
A division arrival.
You can't be doing that.
Well, except I went with Miami.
so I kind of am going against that.
But I think Jacksonville is the shits.
So I had to pick Miami because I think Miami might be decent.
And of course, my Buffalo Bills led by the one and only Josh Allen.
He's officially single.
He's not only that he's dating.
I said last year he finally got rid of that girlfriend.
It was going to be his year.
I was wrong.
He started to date someone.
He got confused.
He's single.
He's ready to roll.
Min is six and a half.
The bills will absolutely crush the cart.
Now, is he single or is he still with that girl?
I have no clue.
Okay.
I'm pretty sure he's not single.
I think he's with.
I'm pretty sure he's with, yeah, he has no idea if he's single.
Either way, this is the kind of deep dive you could expect on a weekly basis with Rett's football things.
Yeah, bet three, six, five is like, wait at this is what?
Oh, my.
Well, you can, okay, well, fine.
Just book me in for the bills all year because that is happening.
I was going to say, the underdog team that's so good.
everyone's like, oh, they didn't get a receipt.
They'll be fine.
What are you going to do on a buy week?
It'll be lost.
Three picks.
Look at that.
They're taking a pitcher next to the April towel here.
It's going to be good.
Young couple.
Are they,
it's not nice.
I love young love.
You were talking about a fly on the wall for Mike Melbury.
I'd be on a different wall if I could be in any fly.
Well, there you go.
So is there any thought that the Jets could be good this year?
Absolutely.
I think the defense.
is elite.
Yeah.
And we haven't seen Aaron Rogers in a while, given the, what, he lasted two snaps last
year or something gross like that, but you're going to get much better play than you got
from Zach Wilson.
Garrett Wilson is a star ready to blossom on the wide receiver position.
We love Breece Hall.
They've upgraded the offensive line.
It was probably one of the worst in the NFL last year.
There is very good reason to believe that the Jets should be a good team.
I just don't know if they're in the contender, when your division home field spot yet, but
absolutely they're a team the UFC that could make a good team.
the playoffs why not they're going to be a tough out dean that monday nighter's
it's unbelievable because the jet's defense is unreal and there'll be great anticipation for
rogers and the aforementioned stars in the offense and then it looked like two weeks ago
san francisco was in deep shit there's like you don't have iuk signed i mean trent williams
hasn't even shown up at the facility mccaffrey has you playing a dangerous game of chicken mcalfrey's
nursing something uh debo's nursing something and then here we are they're playing
on Monday and everyone's signed everyone's a practice everyone's healthy yeah that's gonna be an
amazing and their first round pick out shot that is correct he's not healthy the rickie rickie piercell
yeah got shot in the chest by a minor during a robbery teased not a deals yeah sounds like he's
apparently like millimeters from like this doesn't end well yeah and he'll probably play this year
not unlike Brian Robinson Jr.
who got shot right after a couple years
ago, yeah. Yeah, before his debut season.
He came back and played and it's great.
It's not good. No good.
Not recommending that, by the way.
No.
All right, Ryan. The Jets will be good.
Let's get into the Ryan pick.
I said Jack too. I want to make sure he's got the latest and greatest
because I want to change one thing.
Why don't you go first, Dean? Is that possible?
Just confused the hell.
Look, this guy looks like a guy.
Are you doing the Warner thing where you send him like five picks?
Well, this is why I want to make sure he gets.
right because I don't want to be accused of this Warner
chicanery where you pick both teams
I've changed. What do you mean you check? So what
just so we know? I picked three teams.
What happened to your picks, Ryan? What did you?
I just am moving away a game I did
I had down. So serious that
it's big.
I know you hate you hate being
wrong. Well, it was an hour ago.
So it was right. He hate being wrong when he was
terrible. That was an hour ago. That's
correct. On a Thursday morning for your Sunday
picks. It was an hour ago. Okay.
We'll do my picks. That's fine.
Now, this first game, but it's not in Philadelphia, right?
No, it is in Sao Paulo, Brazil, D.
It's in Brazil, guys.
It's in Brazil.
I'm going to say there's no home field advantage in a situation like this.
And I've been doing a little bit of reading from some of the quotes coming out of the Philadelphia Eagles camp.
They are not happy to be playing a home game in Brazil.
They're sour about it.
Packers, I think, are going to be sneaky good again this year.
Even better, Jordan Love, take another step.
They got some good young receivers.
Got a pretty good running back there, I think, and Josh Jacobs.
I think he's going to be good, too.
I don't know, getting points on the road.
Yes, but so are the Eagles on the road.
Give me the pack, plus two and a half.
The Minnesota Vikings are at the New York Giants.
I don't know about the Vikings.
I know that Jefferson is quite good, but I don't.
Are you back?
Sam?
Aaron Jones running back, Sam Darnold quarterback.
Giants are at home and getting a point in a half.
Gimmie, gimme, the Giants, plus one and a half.
And Denver, who I think are straight shit.
Yeah.
I just, this team is no good.
And Seattle, not a lot of changes there, is there?
It's still JSN and DK.
There's a new offensive coordinator, if I'm correct,
but it's, I think you're going to see some,
more committed to
Ken Walker. Ken Walker.
Gino, I think.
It's the same crew coming back.
Bounce back. Yeah.
Minutes six and a half at home.
Teams don't like going into Seattle.
Denver's no good. Give me the Seahawks,
minus six and a half. So I originally had the Broncos,
and I'm like, what am I doing taking like the worst team in the league?
So I had to get them off my card.
I didn't want to spoil it, but you've got them there.
Like Denver is awful.
And McBride was next to me last night.
He's a big Seahawks saying, oh, they're a big trouble against the Broncos.
I got sucked in.
So I've changed.
These are the games I like.
You're listening to McBride?
Well, he's a Seahawks guy, right?
So he's got all that at Intel, eh?
So you were going to take the Broncos to spite him or what?
No, because he's like,
Seahawks are screwed.
The Broncos and I'm like,
I needed to step back and realize that McBride
had had a bunch of pints before cycling home.
And that was a horrible take.
I can't be putting money on that.
So here's the interesting staff for you.
Quarterbacks drafted first overall.
Zero, 14, and one.
in their first start since 2002.
Is it J.P. Lossman in there?
I don't think he was first overall.
But Caleb Williams did go first overall, Dean,
and he is in Tennessee.
And they are favored by four.
Yeah, that's a lot of points.
So they can still win.
I like the Titans here against the rookie quarterback,
who may indeed be great,
but even the greats have had some really awful,
miserable, no good rookie seasons.
Think of Peyton Manning amongst others.
So I'm going to ride with the Titans plus four.
in Chicago.
I like Dallas to cover two and a half of Cleveland.
I've been listening to Jack. Jack, how's Cleveland?
They ain't it good?
No, the quarterback barely plays football.
Do we remember what Deshawn Watson looked like?
Because it was Joe Flacco that made this team look good last year.
We'll see, I'll ride with the points to the Cowboys on the road.
And I love the Texans in Indy.
This is an offense that could be elite, elite, elite with C.J. Stroud,
all these great young receivers.
They just added digs to that group.
I like the Texans a lot this year in the AFC
and the Colts are just me.
Going to take Houston minus a field goal
on the road.
Three road teams, two dogs.
There you go.
Yeah, I like the,
that the Bears one, but, you know,
I'm a huge Bears guy, so I can't pick that one.
But I agree.
How are you feeling as a huge Bears guy?
Well, there's some excitement, right?
You don't know that there's ever been more excitement.
Caleb and Rome.
When you've got a young,
star quarterback.
Is that not the funnest part of the life cycle of football team?
Wasn't Fields?
No, he was no idea.
Well, he wasn't a big fan.
That's Jack's guy now.
Jack's excited about it.
Jack's just Jack attack.
Speaking of Jack, he's always got some
colorful descriptors when it comes to his
football picks. Jack, walk us through your three.
First off, I'm not picking the Steelers every week.
I lost too many last year.
doing that.
He's the worst fans.
I know.
Binders not picking his team.
Pender's not picking his team.
The favorite by one.
And Jack will not
big fans,
big fans.
You heard that.
Turing is different than gambling.
I'll say zero and 114 for
But I'm on the same page as Ryan
for a lot of these.
Like I think Dallas being an
underdog against the Browns,
Deshawn Watson hasn't played football
in like three years, four years.
I don't get the Browns thing.
Texans going into Indianapolis
three point favorites
they got a loaded offense
the Colts like I don't even know
Richardson will stay healthy for this game
and then twice he's
healthy for a game yeah
and then the Bengals go at home against the Patriots
the Patriots are going to be dog shit
Jacoby Berset throwing the ball to
I don't know who Kendrick Bourne
Hunter Henry wait I got a guy I think
Bourne's something
Douglas Jr. Antonio Brown
or Antonio Gibson
I'll take the Bengals minus eight at home.
I really like Cincinnati is a very popular pick for Survivor.
I think it's the most pick team for if you're in a survivor or elimination pool.
I just would love to get some clarity on Jamar Chase.
Not that it changes how I feel about everything,
but eight points might turn into six.
That line could change a ton if there's no Jamar.
Not what I'm saying?
Yeah, it's eight.
So that's what he picked.
Well, right.
And I'm saying I like that pick.
I just, I think I'm going to wait for that line to change if it does.
But I don't know.
Like the Jamar thing's weird.
isn't it two years left on his deal.
Yeah, that's, I've never seen that before.
But everything, everything you hear is this is how it goes in football.
This is, this is okay.
No, the one year ones is totally normal business.
This is the first instance where a guy said two that I can think of.
And it's like, ooh, now it's the rookie deal.
So I get it.
He's severely underpaid.
I think everyone kind of forgets because it was like Joe Burrow was hurt most of
the last year.
Like, Jamar was like one of the top two guys on earth is like his rookie year with
Burroughs. But with some of these guys
you wonder, missing camp, are you
worse off or are you okay?
I would put money down on a hammie if I could
get some good odds. Like the hamstrings, that's
usually what you see. Last year, Jefferson
missed a bunch. He had a hamstring issue
that plugged him in the season.
The reps would help.
These guys are so good. They could still
have success, but you
wouldn't want them running routes with
Burrow right now? I think you would.
Yeah. Is he maybe doing
his own thing? You don't know, right?
What's important?
Dean, you've got to have the timing.
You need the timing.
Timing.
Timing.
I know.
I know.
But they could be scary good, the Bengals this year.
Like you say, with Burrow healthy, if he is indeed.
And if they get the, the chase thing would piss you off.
If you're everybody else, it's worked hard to get that team back and to get right.
And then he's with two years left on his deal saying, I need more, please.
Be sour.
What would you think as a teammate, rat if you're a superstar, young superstar kid was
sitting on the sidelines with two years left in his deal say.
Oh, like Giordano, that big honking, he got a cool guy.
Is that what it was?
They wouldn't give him a one way.
Is that the comparable to Mark Chase?
Darrell wouldn't give him a one way.
Had a 22-year-old Mark Giordano or whatever he would have been at the time.
Yeah.
Superstar.
This undrafted guy who was okay in Omaha is holding out, it's screwing us.
Yeah.
Oh, when you put it like that, you're right.
Yeah, you're right.
I can understand why that was major sour.
I can now see why you always give Gio such a rough rise.
Yeah, dick.
He's such a jerk, that guy.
Okay, so now we, uh, Jack came up with the idea.
Jack, what's your idea about putting up?
Now, how are we going to do this?
What's your thought?
So I'm thinking we're going to build a parlay together.
And then we're all going to put $10 on this said parlay.
Oh.
So I think each of us make a pick.
And then maybe we try and get a YouTube community pick in as well, five picks.
So we each pick one.
Do we have the patience to do the whole weekend here?
We don't do a show until Tuesday or do we want to focus just Thursday night?
It's just the Thursday night game.
I don't think we.
Oh, this is just so we five legs from the Thursday night football game.
Then we each put down 10 bucks each week.
Let's see some months here.
Okay.
I've got one to pitch and if you guys don't like it, just let me know.
Love Rashley Rice or however we're saying his first name.
Monster second half of the year.
I think the Kansas City offense is going to be unreal.
a rice anytime touchdown is plus
175. Just anyone object to that.
That is my contribution.
Plus 175 for a house call for rice.
What's the Kelsey there?
Plus 110.
It's not as good.
Travis Kelsey five receptions.
Super boost in the bet 360.
I don't want to do the boost.
I can't do some of it.
Can't do the best.
So does anyone, like how do we feel about that?
Are we not buying rice?
Like I'm very, very high on them this year,
but I might be the only one.
in this room.
I like him for, yeah, I mean, I don't hate it.
I don't hate the Xavier worthy, the rookie, exact same odds.
I like Rice way more than a guy in his first NFL game, for example.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, all right.
Okay, all right, I could be convinced.
I could be convinced.
You mentioned Kelsey.
He was great in the AFC championship game when these two clubs played for the right to go to the Super Bowl last year.
There was a 1710 win for the Chiefs.
There was only a field goal in the entire side.
second half. It was a lot of Travis Kelsey finished with a touchdown and over 100 yards.
Because remember last year he was injured. He missed week one. He's ready to go. It feels like he's
kind of. He tapered off hard the second half, but was great that game against Baltimore.
Now, is there any concern in this Baltimore defense, which is highly doubt. How many points are
the chiefs putting up here? They only put up 17 in the FC championship game, but I don't, I think
fantasy-wise, it's expected to be a very good defense.
I don't know that necessarily that means in real life they are.
What do we got for rushing yards?
Is that?
Eric Henry plus 145 for 75 yards.
You're on here.
Five, hell, yeah.
Over 65 and a half for Henry.
Yeah.
Checo 58 and a half.
Hmm.
Of Pacheco.
Take them both.
You want both on the over?
Yeah.
As much as we love Bet 365, they don't have their bearings yet.
This is week one.
They don't have, they're not right in their, they're not in the pocket yet.
Well, and we just talked about it.
Like, we don't know what teams are good against what.
Defense has changed every year.
And you could think here is, you know, the Ravens.
They're bringing Derek Henry.
They're going to want Henry to feel good about himself.
See, it's a, you came here, that you should be happy here.
We're giving you the rock all the time.
I like the over on that one for sure.
Okay.
I'm with you, retro.
I don't mind that.
We like Pacheco over the 58 and a half?
Maybe even Mahomes.
Oh, what's his number?
20 yards?
One scramble.
Where's our boy Lamar?
Because he's always scrambled.
49 and a half.
That's too high.
That's a lot.
Yeah, I like the Pacheco and the Mahomes, maybe.
Which one do you like, Jack?
Yeah, I'm good for both of them.
I was going to add with a Derek Henry touchdown.
It's, uh, what is it, minus 110?
But at this point, you're throwing out on a parlay.
Look at us.
Parlay.
If they get it, if they get it.
get it inside the five you know it's Derek Henry 10 yeah
yeah this is the odds changes you keep adding to the parlay but yeah that's right keeps
going up just all right keeps making more and more sense so we how many legs have we got here
now is that three legs do we want to add anything else do we like a team an over under total
wait wait we've got okay we've got three yeah but we didn't do
we've got nothing for Pacheco or or Mojones do you want to have Pacheco or Mhombs
Do you want to have Pacheco, Dean?
You like Pacheco?
Well, yeah, I do.
I think he's going to be a big part of that offense.
I agree.
I think he's going to be,
he could be a top three running back.
I love Pacheco in this offense.
Are we doing a four-leg parlay?
Now we're doing a five
because we're going to let the fans pick one, aren't we?
Oh, my God.
We've got it up to plus $1,400.
This is amazing.
14 to 1, baby.
All P.
The parley haters are going to just be steaming right now, Dean.
Oh, parlay haters.
Yeah, it's, uh,
uh,
statistically,
you've got better odds by playing each of these bets
singularly without the chance of one of the propositions
going to the wrong way and root.
That's right.
All we do is.
Thanks.
That sounds fun.
Harp and complain that there's no single game betting and then you get it.
Oh, God, can I do a nine-team parlay?
All right.
We like it?
I like that.
Anyone in the comments?
anything? I haven't seen any suggestions here.
Let's go. It's good. Get out your bet
365. Let's see what you like. It'll be hard to
be hard to factor that in, perhaps,
the, uh, the fan betting.
I thought that's what he said. Well, I know it is what he said.
Well, I know it is what he's idea. Now you're
like how you're going to say you get 30
people chiming in and everybody has a different one.
Well, we would have, I would have done is if we got some
suggested and then yeah, we would have done a poll.
That's one's a little gun shy today.
Wisdom of the masses, Dean. It's the first.
It's week one.
We're just getting the rust off here.
All right.
Fair enough.
We ended up a plus 1,400 there.
14 to 1?
Baby.
What are we going to do with all this money?
Like have a big shaker at the end of the year?
Yeah, I'm ready for a party.
Nice.
It's not a bill's party.
You don't want to,
no,
you won't come.
Oh,
I'm happy to come to school.
There's no party like a bills party.
I've told you.
We've got to pound through some tables.
I get why you don't want to come because they would throw you through the tables,
whether you wanted it or not.
Yeah.
That's right.
Understand that sentiment a bit, yeah.
Good stuff.
Good stuff.
We'll iron out the,
uh,
it's a start,
Dean,
the betting portion of the program over time.
Let's do the Pinder report.
It's presentation of Village Honda.
Now,
if you go to VillageHonda.com,
and I was on there just this morning,
and you start sniffing around.
You'll see a little thing in the bottom corners.
Hey, are you looking,
are you looking to sell your car?
We would buy your car.
And,
trip to Vegas.
Very good.
How about that?
Go to village honda.com and find out more.
They're not just trying to sell cars.
They'll buy your used vehicle as well
to get more selection for their customers on the lot.
Why not?
Your dealership for life, Village Honda, and they present
Ryan Pinda, Ryan Pinda.
The Pender Report.
Well, some images and video from last night's
candlelight vigil from the Scotia
Saddle Dome honoring Johnny and Matthew Kachuk, one former flame drawing thousands of fans in his
jerseys in between the new convention center and the old Saddle Dome. Incredible visuals from yesterday.
And as you noted off the top, a superb performance from Calgarians and a proud moment to be a
in the way that people came out and supported
this guy that always felt like a flame.
Even when he was gone, Dean, you'd never said it felt right.
It just, he's a flame.
Remembered last night with huge numbers outside the dome.
Sad, man.
I don't know if you saw, but we,
the Blue Jays, actually, Jimmy Campbell,
who hosts Blue Jays games on SportsNet,
had Daryl Sutter and Chris on their broadcast.
Let's jump to that clip from,
Darrell, Jamie and Chris Sutter at Rogers Center in Toronto.
I don't know a single Canadian that I've spoken to in the last week that hasn't been impacted by the passing of Johnny Gujarro and his brother.
And you obviously know him very well.
What kind of impact first, Darrell, did he have on you?
You know, I think everybody's spoken so much the last few days about how great a player he was.
But, you know, he was everybody's friend, Johnny.
He loved the game.
He loved sports.
He was a hockey player.
Anything you did with Johnny, he was a hockey player.
And you feel, and that's how his family was.
And the impact that he had on us probably is a family is our family was hockey.
His family was hockey.
It's a big family.
It's terrible, terrible tragedy.
I think when we got that horrible news on Thursday night,
you're literally sick to your stomach.
That's even last night watching the game here, you know, the Goodrose are huge, huge Phillies fans.
I was thinking about them last night during the game also and the family.
Really?
How do you feel about the relationship you had with Johnny, Chris?
My first son is here, Johnny.
He's a great guy.
Yeah.
Great fatality and his great score.
And he's doing his best.
Yeah.
Well, listen, I am sorry.
I know there are a lot of people that,
that feel the anguish as well,
even though people like me who didn't even know him.
But we are grateful that you guys came to town.
I took my son on a baseball tour of Alberta this summer.
You get to come to my home province.
It's great to see you both.
Chris Sutter, Daryl Sutter.
Thank you for joining us today.
Thanks for having us, maybe.
All right.
Let's have a great day.
Yes, indeed.
How about that?
The Sutter's head note to Houston sharing some thoughts about Johnny.
Kind of cool.
Good to see Chris on TV too.
What a beauty.
we're all feeling
to Chris.
We've all getting choked up
still to this,
to this day.
Tough one for sure.
A birthday we missed
since last show.
Well,
I guess we're not missing it.
We're talking about it
since last show.
No,
I'm not sure what he's doing
these days,
but happy 53rd
to Craig Convalift.
It's got to be a typo.
18, 53.
I know.
No,
507 games of the flames.
He was saying that,
you know,
with all the,
it's very somber right now,
is going to make up for it with the 54th birthday.
Going to have a big blowout banger.
So that is correct.
It's happy your times.
I thought he'd have more points.
We played with the,
not exclusively.
For much of the time.
A lot.
He's with Jerome McGindler.
Like, dish it over,
Lou.
Happy birthday, Craig.
Hey, Craig,
happy birthday from the barn burner fellas.
We thought you'd have more points.
I thought he'd have more points.
number one center you want points how about a right shot defenseman that had 55 points just two years ago
you want see of red let's welcome professional tryout Tyson berry hey he 33 years old right shot
amazing how many defensemen can't play after the age of 33 it's over so what are you saying
good luck
okay nice
last year
less productive
only gotten 41 games
15 points was not a fit in Nashville
he heard his name
swirling around and trade rumors
almost all season he stayed
brinette hate him
brunette he's that
brunette's such a jerk
yeah he's hard coach everyone talks about
how big a turn it to
brunette you're three for three if you do
couldn't escape
Johnny Barry
good this bad
wouldn't
slow like i can keep up like that would be a race me and bruno you know you do the kids in the
circle do a lap and then race for the puck at right center yeah yeah that would be tight you'd win
that one i would feel good going in okay i wouldn't you feel like around that pylon at the dot though
you totally would be two steps off the line this greaser never starting on time um yeah so good feet to
Bruny and thanks for ruining
Tyson Perry
signing a happy birthday
only 1100 games for brunette
Guy can't skate
realistically though gentlemen
he's a right shot
he'd play the right side
he's offensively talented
his defense has never been his calling
card and is not a strength
do you see a pathway
for Tyson Barry to make the Calgary
flames and if so
who does it come at the expense of
because we already have
six defensemen we sort of think are the opening day starters with obviously.
Do we have the list of defensemen?
Because I feel like Tengar is at least an NHL defenseman.
Ball in Anderson and then Bean and Pahall is your third pair.
Pahall plays the right side.
I think there's definitely room for him for if somebody wanted to play potentially out of
position on their offside.
I know Uyghur has done that.
Focus on a power time to time.
It exclusively does that.
Yeah.
don't think, I think it makes a lot of sense in a way. It's a very young team. I don't know that
Barry's a leader, but you can see. I'm sure there's leadership skills there. Let's let's be
honest. I mean, Miramanov was playing. We don't know what he is yet. And he wasn't playing in
Vegas. We do know that too. We do know that too. So, Hanley was picked up off waivers.
Correct.
And, uh, do they have to play every game these people that you name?
because it feels like they could also go in and out of the line.
Like a Pahal or anything.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So a Pahal for a Hanley, Rabin for a Salovov for a.
Very.
You're not taking ball out of the lineup, though.
No, and he's left shot and he does defend.
So that's the exact thing that Tyson isn't.
But yeah, I'd sort of look at the offensively geared right shot guys.
So it's like, okay, would you rather have him or Miramano, would you rather have him or Pahal.
Well, Pahal's pretty different.
He's physical.
He's not often.
And you.
In fairness, you've been trotting his name out for some time, Ryan.
We've heard about Tyson.
You've had a big, just a big.
I think it was more.
It was more we could take him and help Nashville out and might be able to actually.
Yeah.
And then the flip side here is if he does look good and you're like, shit, if the halls,
you're seven, that's probably where he should be slotted in the NHL anyway.
If Tyson Barry can look okay, there's no reason you wouldn't be able to flip him at the deadline.
that that's as it stands what you're looking at the only two lefties there are ball and bean weager plays his offside and the right side is Rasmus Anderson
miramano of pahal miramount of top pair hello yeah yeah yeah come on in I would think that maybe
Barry's agent is like a PTO are you sure you don't want to just I mean because I'm just looking at your depth
I've got it with the agent he's very enthusiastic about Tyson coming in earning a job and like just reestablishing the
player that two years ago at 55 points.
They're very bullish on this.
And maybe that's the role of the agent
and all this to keep everyone's spirits high.
But if you can look any like that two years ago, there's no
question he's an NHL defense.
My agent was 33.
My spirits is he was not bullish about rest.
You're done? Yeah, I guess I'm done.
Okay.
Oh, okay. Hello? Hello?
Hello?
Oh, dear. No, Warner can't play.
I love to get them.
You can't sign this.
Oh, sorry, Rhett's on this call.
He's conference called in.
Yeah.
Sorry, Redd.
Sorry.
You still here?
And Zane Perrick might be an upgrade on some of those fellows, to be fair.
But I think they could have to separate back to junior.
Now, somebody, I'm not sure if it's the, uh, Daryl Sutter on watching the show next day.
Daz.
Barry had 55 points with the greatest power play of all time.
Yeah, there is a, yeah, I mean.
Yeah, but when he went to Nashville, it didn't stop putting up points.
There was Nashville's power play.
one of the greatest of all time as well, Daryl,
while we've got you, just a quick question.
I'm, but I'm wondering if it's,
he was in Nashville,
won a game when he went to Nashville in the final 24 games.
You can't pick out 24 games, can you, like,
to do?
Well, he's suggesting, of course, yes,
if you play on that Oilers Power,
you're going to get points. Everyone knows that,
but the point is that he was good enough
to be on that Oilers Powerplay.
No?
Okay.
Friends with the agent.
Friends with the agent.
Got to be.
We'll move on.
real quick note, Mark Stahl, his retired,
he's going to take a player development slash skill
sort of role with the Rangers.
Pretty damn good career
for a pretty scary injury.
Could grow a beard, hey?
Mark Stahl over the years,
hell of a beard. Big beard guy.
NFL, baby, let's go.
We talked about it. Tonight's the night.
Here is just more things to get you excited
about a football game that starts in like five hours.
Six hours. This is unbelievable.
Oh, yeah, I'm on the different times.
Let's go.
baby let's go rave it's
messing me all up two stars you should have
something in the crock pot red
league MVP what do you do
at arrowhead look at this
are you not excited
620 here is that at the man that beautiful
well
I guess what you want 820 instead
come on then I don't feel any guilt about being on the couch
oh dear can't win here
those guys are good I'll get over
alright there's Kelsey still going
Are he in, is he still a Swifty?
They still together?
No idea.
He's single.
Yeah, okay.
Thanks for that.
Ravens fans, they're excited as well.
How's the coach in Calgary compared to the coach in Buffalo?
How's the,
you know what?
Almost the exact same couch and the Buffalo coach is going to be here on Monday,
probably for the Monday night or I'll be on that bad boy.
So that'd be great.
To do.
Dueling couches.
Room for both of us on that bad boy retro.
You betcha.
All right.
Shubla get rid of my best couch in the world.
Really?
When was this?
Couple of years ago.
Best coach in the world.
She gave it away.
Gave it.
Gave it.
Didn't even sell it.
It's falling apart.
Re-upholster.
Real upholster.
A lot of rugby been played on that couch over the year.
Holy.
This thing was.
No shit.
It's a lot of money for a couch.
You're going to be honest.
No, that's what it would cost me now.
I paid four.
Okay.
1999.
Buffalo.
Our house.
I want to go play some.
You are in Brazil.
Why are you phoning me?
Go away.
Stefan Ruffko.
That's tough day.
Friday.
Brazil.
What?
NFL.
We'll play NFL on Friday,
they do in week one, baby.
They've gotten confused on the Brazilian.
It's Sunday in Brazil, though.
With the time change.
They've been drinking too many caprinillas.
This is good stuff right here.
Packers, Eagles.
Brazil.
Why didn't we go?
I was talking about a road trip, Dean.
We asked you, Rhett, and you said,
I don't even know where I'm living.
How could I plan a trip to Brazil?
September 6th is a great day for me to be in Brazil.
You're like, by September 6th,
I think I might know what school to put my kids in.
I can't be impressed.
And by the way, they went to school yesterday.
So overrated.
School is or enrolling them in them?
Or your kids.
They didn't come home, super smart.
Holy.
you guys are smarter than when you left this morning.
The school system's the best.
Yeah.
Top notch.
So you like Thursday.
You like Friday.
I don't mind that.
You got a huge Sunday slate.
Super Bowls in New Orleans this year.
Oh, that's that where it is.
Marty girl.
The big smoke.
Look at this.
It's smart.
All the stars are going.
A lot of teams.
That's a lot.
That's your boy, Caleb, right at the front of the screen there, Dino.
Which is the worst one?
Like who?
Dostia.
guy who deserves to be here the least remandre stevenson i'm going to throw out
yeah romayne is probably the guy that's true max crosbie is all right max crosbie's fine but
who's the uh falcon at the front left there is that kirk it's got to get justice yeah
yeah i think that's kurt yeah yeah i'm going to say that probably romandre remandre
Seward me last year, first rounder.
Son of him.
Here's what week one looks like.
There's some bangers, Dean.
Although, in fairness, sorry, Jack, not to let you off the hook.
Can we go back to that shot one more?
Just one more time.
Jack, you're very quiet sitting in the weeds there.
I see a T.J. Watt on the right side.
Huh?
Yeah, he's great.
He's the leader of the team.
Frican superstar.
Your shit ain't Russell Wilson.
Was he a defensive player the year a couple years ago, T.J.
What?
I thought so much as a pro-est.
I was just talking about, I guess, about teams and who else you're going to put up there.
Yeah.
Let's ride.
DJ Watt.
Let's go, Jack.
Let's go.
He's trying to get fired up.
He's trying so hard.
Here's the week one, Slate, boys.
It's a gooder.
There's some bangers.
I just think you got a rematch of the NFC championship game on Sunday night.
That is the Lions and the Rams.
Let's go.
That was a ton of fun.
The Monday nighter has got.
Two of the biggest storyline franchises,
the Jets after Hard Knocks, Aaron Rogers,
the Niners with all the drama they've been through
and all the Super Bowl heartbreak they've had in the last few years.
Great games there.
Miami could be the most exciting team in football.
They got Jacksonville.
I like it, boys.
It's a hell of a week.
I was going to ask you to do it,
but then I realized that it's the Pinder Report
and you're kind of busy.
I'm just wondering where the lions stack up in futures
as Super Bowl champs.
I think they'd be tough four or five.
There's a lot of love for the lions.
I think your final four from last year, all in the top five in futures odds.
And that's the Ravens, the Chiefs, the Niners, and the Lions.
Those are all very, all, everyone is very bullish on those, those teams.
Niners and Chiefs plus 550.
Ravens, 900, Bills, 1,200, Lions, 1,200.
So the Bengals, Lions, and Bills, plus 1,200, then the Ravens and then Niners and Chiefs.
That's odd.
Yeah.
Look at this.
Her boy, Jack.
That boy, Jack.
Nice quick.
So what do we like there?
Some of these, don't we?
I mean, once they start the season, you can't do the futures.
Well, I guess they'll just adjust them, I should say.
You like the odds now and go get them.
And, yeah, you know, here's the thing.
We did our big fantasy draft last night,
and everyone wants to talk about their fantasy team.
So this was a nice little meme reminding you of what it's like
when you unveil your fantasy team to strangers
or your pals that aren't in the way.
There you go.
Like we did on the show.
Boom.
Yeah, so just keep that in mind when you're not the best of the job.
I really want to hear about your fantasy team.
You haven't told me enough.
Give me more.
Give me more.
Wait, who's on your bench?
Tell me more.
But who's your kicker?
How do your buy weeks line up?
Yeah.
So the Blue Jays having a tough year.
We know that, right?
We're tough about that?
lost again yesterday.
But at least a former top prospect
there didn't throw a no hitter yesterday.
That's right.
Not at least he was only through one inning of the no hitter.
But there's former top pitching prospect on earth.
Nate Pearson,
sporting some tidy numbers with the cubbies
as part of a three pitcher no-no.
Seven innings from their starter,
Pearson and Hodge close it out.
And the catcher the cut all.
114 pitches. A no-no for the Cubbies.
That's nice.
That boy Nate.
Dalton Pompeii get a hit or?
Did not see him in the box score.
No, I.
But Emilio Bonifacio.
Now, I believe I saw that my boy actually pitched.
Are you serious?
I think it was like 8-0 or 11-0-0.
Is this for the Pirates?
They fired Rowdy out onto the mound.
I think I read that this morning.
Oh, my God.
Rowdy pitching?
Yeah, I think the manager was asked about it.
Yeah, I saw that.
of nothing. Shut the, shut the bleep up.
I saw it. I saw that shit.
Their season went down the drain and I was scrolling
Twitter and I saw Rowdy pitching him. What the fuck's going?
What does happen? Why is Rowdy to Les
pitching? You gotta go find this now.
You gotta go find this. How did this not the algorithm?
Yes. Oh. Right. It is funny.
How did the algorithm miss you? It's just all
sikes or what? He's going to research that while he's doing that.
let's take a peek at week 14 for the CFL as we have the rematches.
Stamps got pantsed at home by the Elks.
That's never good.
They go up to Edmonton on Saturday.
We'll get the Banjo Bowl.
If I'm correct, boys, Prairiemen, please correct me if I'm wrong.
That is also the Saturday rematch between the right, the Durs and the Burrs.
It won't be Toronto Hamilton, but instead it's Toronto, Ottawa, and then you have BC, Montreal.
That's your slate for week 14.
Jake Mayor, be better or be gone?
That's my advice to use.
Oh, my goodness.
Four picks.
No, just be better, right?
It shouldn't be hard.
Four picks is high.
Like you want to throw three touchdowns and no picks.
I'm happy to support you.
One touchdown four picks on Labor Day, I can't go there with you anymore.
Three picks.
Is that better?
No, that's not good enough?
It's better, but we need to be better than that even.
Okay.
So there's a standard to better.
I would like you to have more touchdowns than interceptions.
That's a starting point.
for me.
You should talk to the coach.
I think the coach is on the same page.
I don't think that's crazy.
He makes some better calls.
Calvary FC, they are on the road this weekend,
but back with a nice little home slate.
And Don Klump, Defender of the Month.
How about that?
Player of the month for the.
What a boy, dogs up last year, like league-wide?
He was the best ones to play in league last year.
He's been phenomenal and scoring this year.
Go get him, caps.
We'll see you when you're back next week.
Do you have rowdy?
We get some rowdy action.
We need the rowdy.
Find the rowdy.
Have the rowdy?
Getting rowdy.
Now this, boomers.
Les, who, can you pitch?
I've done it before.
He's an athlete.
All right, you're in there.
I'm not covering.
I'm not covering.
Now, ball.
Double play.
Move 71.
Double play.
I'm not.
operate strike to freedom
46
I saw the 46 heat
got our signals crossed there
yeah sorry 49
Danicole
and they'll love this
kind of has the like
pros versus Joe's feel
you know what it's it's like the e bug
yes for baseball
it's better so much better
it's amazing I do love it
yeah yeah I do love it
I had the uh the box score
for old Rowdy there.
I believe a run did.
He was charged with a run.
One inning, three hits, one earned run.
Not bad.
6.75 BRA.
So could be worse.
They could use with the J.S. Bullpen.
Those are somebers.
Let's move.
Finally, Dean, you're a bit of romantic, a honey dripper.
We know that about you.
And even though you were busy with fantasy football,
and even though it's been somber times in Calgary,
you being the lovebird you are,
leaving notes for your wife around the house.
Here we go.
Don't flush.
I'm getting a tape measure possible.
It's a good week for fiber.
It kind of, you know,
it's a bit of a binder.
Keeps things.
She didn't find it funny.
She didn't appreciate it because she said I had to go.
I don't know.
I hope you got back right away.
She paid no mind to my sign.
She just did her thing.
thing and flushed. I was like, babe.
Guinness.
How do I get it in the Guinness?
I could have been poop famous.
You did set a world record since the last show.
We'll get to that in a moment. But first,
the shoveler was out trying to do her own thing.
Everyone's trying to go viral.
I think she had rollerblades on red.
Is that something you guys used to do together?
Yeah, here we go.
That's a tough start.
She misread it.
Yeah, she misread the jump.
It's got backseat there.
Let's just see she kind of lost her.
got back on her heels.
She's fine.
But from here on in, she starts, yeah, see, it's.
She yanked the cheese.
Yeah, I got to be over your toes.
Oh, she's all right.
You know how we have the conversation sometimes?
What was the best possible outcome of that?
Yeah.
Oh, she could have cleared that hole.
What?
So, yeah, so you, you hit the jump and then let's say you do clear the water.
You're still face planting.
Then what?
Oh, you've cleared the water.
You cleared the water.
Then you're on rolling.
blades hitting long grass yeah yeah dirt hmm hadn't thought about that well and someone that has thought a little
harder or dean congrats on your world record i didn't know you had this skill it's quite impressive
ping pong balls off the wall most bounces in 30 seconds being forever enshrining his
we've got to find something that's a world record holder right there that guy's that guy is in the guinness
Book of World Records.
You can't do that, Dean?
I'm going to say no.
You're saying this isn't Dean?
Yeah, I'm going to say
I'm not going to be able to do that.
What about the measuring tape one?
That one I can maybe pull off.
Give me a week.
Going to have to, you know,
figure, carve some things out of my diet,
put some things into the diet.
Add some more cheese.
Yeah.
Yeah, good for you.
We've got to get a T-shirt.
Very normal.
human behavior.
Yeah.
That's a,
on a Thursdays
you're being in
Do you do that at the bar
on a Friday night?
Like,
I don't know that guy.
Oh,
yeah.
Too busy beating away
with him.
Greta going to open up a
ping pong wall.
You know what?
That would be a thing
to have at the bar.
It's, we're going to invite
someone from the Guinness Book
of World Records.
They're going to be on hand.
Do their thing.
And you bring whatever you got.
And if you do,
they're there to catalog it
and,
and deem it as a,
official.
What kind of riffraff would you have coming out of the woodwork?
Guys like that.
Yeah.
Yeah.
What was the one?
I'm trying to remember who it was putting.
We've got a new segment.
Frigin, uh, close pins on their face or something.
Stip.
Oh.
I mean, the one guy was smashing bottles or cans of his forehead.
It was the beer one.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Oh.
What about high kicks, Ryan?
Could you do a...
Honestly, I thought I was...
I think for the general public, I have a strong high kick,
but there's people that are very, very limber,
like gymnasts and such.
It's ballerinas.
I've been put to shame by some professionals.
Retro?
You are a very accomplished leg wrestler.
That's right.
Get you laying down there.
Mobility is not what...
Good arthritic joints.
I think we'll come up with something, though.
I think this could be, this is our year.
Right?
24, 25 season.
It might get a little slow
come December, January of the hockey talk.
Maybe we put something together.
Jack, any ideas for a world record?
Maybe the largest parlay.
We don't have to rush into this.
287 like parley.
Pinda report brought to you by Village Honda,
located in the northwest.
Auto Mall, new in stock inventory on the ground,
always MSRP.
and of course their use selection.
All makes all models over 90 units on site.
500 more within their dealership group.
The Wood Automotive Group, they are great.
Your dealership for life for many reasons is Village Honda.
There you go.
Are you guys getting in my survivor pool or what?
I'm in already, yeah.
Are you?
Retro, what are we doing?
Josh, are you in?
He sent you.
Oh, I'm going to get in right after this.
All right.
What happened yesterday when you were in the league and then said,
you can't get in.
Can you invite me to send me in?
Send me an invite.
How'd you figure it out?
I think I've got two accounts
and I was doing the one on the computer
and I couldn't get in
and then I'm like, maybe if I just went on the app
on my phone, easy, peasy.
Yeah.
Done.
Did you draft from your phone?
Mm-hmm.
It's more difficult.
It's not as good.
I mean, somebody else was just,
drafting from his phone team like Corum click click click click
bro Madunesay yeah what's wrong with my picks your guys are
I love your picks you guys say you guys say a Corum I was that's what I was saying I was
like jeez these are very good picks not some guy who's not in the league anymore
yeah I did good so I got to download this thing
yeah do whatever you want do whatever you want do whatever you want
You need the app, go to the website, log in.
I don't know.
It's not your bread and butter stuff.
The whole logging in.
Did you send me an email?
You don't get emails.
Do you think this was an off air conversation, air podcast, whatever?
There's that thing we're doing in a couple weeks.
Got the text yesterday about the sponsor coming on board.
Do you think it's pretty much sure to mention that or do you think we're good to go and give some other?
I think that's a great time right now to mention.
You know what?
I want you to lay it out because you have been the driving force behind it.
You have the details.
as we're two weeks away.
We are less than that.
On the 13th of September,
we will be departing.
Rhett, obviously,
no commitments yet.
Heading to Penn Tickton for the Young Stars Tournament.
Canucks, Oilers, Flames, Jets,
will be basking on the beaches of Skaha and Okanagan Lake.
And we'll be posted up at a position where the water's close,
but the beers are closer,
So we are going to Penticton for the Young Stars tournament.
Yes.
And we're not at the rink.
We're not outside the rink.
We're not doing the games.
We're sitting on a patio beachside.
I mean, did you want to go to the games?
We could go to the games.
I'll get your tickets.
Or again, patio.
Or patio.
Yeah, yeah.
Rinks a long ways away.
It's so far, Red, to go from there.
You're a day.
Gosh, the cold.
these rinks. Does anyone figure out any of that ice
with doesn't need cold air? I think the
flames are streaming that thing, right?
On the heat or whatever. We could probably just
watch it from where we're sitting there.
Yeah, or just, you know, not watch
it. Or not watch it. Somebody'll tell us what happened.
Yeah, there'll be a box score you can read. Just like
old rowdy. We'll play out. Yeah, we're going to, uh, we're going to
Pintick and Young Stars Turnip. We're going to have guests joining
us from our broadcast location on the patio.
It seems very us to go to an event, but not
go to the event. But, uh,
you know, like when we go to the draft,
almost went to the draft.
I was definitely at a VIP cabana
an outdoor sports book with bikini-clad waitresses
and blackjack dealers.
Yes, I was there.
I was in Vegas for the draft.
Yeah, yeah.
So this is on brand for us for sure.
Yeah, perfect.
So we're looking forward to.
We are going to hopefully line up some folks to join us
and we'll be going live from Penticton
over the course of the Young Stars event.
Friday the 13th, they open their tournament.
They will play again Saturday,
and then they wrap things up on Monday night
and off day Sunday.
So it's Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday.
That's the entirety of the Young Stars tournament.
The Vs, my old employers,
they also have a Junior A game there on Saturday,
which will be fun to go check out.
Is it Sunday one of the two days?
And yeah, we'll be bringing action to you
live from the Okanagan from the Young Stars tournament
where Zane Perrick and Company will be
applying their trades.
So you'll check out the V's game, but not...
I'll probably go to all the games, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Got to work on accreditation now.
We've got this done.
Just locked down the rental car yesterday.
What outlet are you guys from?
No, we know this guy.
It's good.
It shouldn't be a problem.
Oh, good.
I'm going to listen to it to them.
And please to announce our presenting sponsor,
professional skate service.
Oh, yeah.
We were there.
You talk about two weeks, two weeks ago, three weeks ago.
We were at August 10th, it's almost a month.
The beautiful.
How many times I've been there since August 10th?
I guess it feels I was there two days ago.
Holy.
Helmets and stuff.
Beautiful new location of pro skate here in the city of Calgary.
They are your go-to place.
They've been doing it since the 70.
Yep.
The official skate sharpener of the 88 Winter Olympics in
Calgary.
Good Calgary people.
They have, they've made.
a huge investment in our city and it's awesome to see where they've come from.
Their little spot in Mardaloupe has grown to a massive location in the old Franciscan's
Silver Dollar Casino location.
You'll know where that is.
42nd Avenue Southeast just off Blackfoot.
And they are, uh, yeah, they are one of the presenting sponsors of our coverage from
Penticton of the Young Stars.
Is that next week?
Am I crazy?
It's next week.
No, I think it's Friday.
Is it?
Like eight days.
We were on a plane.
Holy dinah.
Holy Dina.
Is that next weekend?
That is next weekend.
It's also over evels, which is not gone over.
Oh, yeah.
Great.
Yeah.
With the two children and the one goalie.
Right.
Hybrid.
Half gold.
Oh, so you're going to be missing evals.
Yeah.
In fairness, evals take forever.
It takes so long.
A long time.
A long time.
I caught myself the other day.
I almost messed up real.
bad. We had the 9.30 start on Tuesday night. Night. Yeah. PM for the 11 year old.
11. 9.30 p.m. But I started reading him like, this does not make sense. Yeah.
Optional. Oh. It's just to give you some ice time to go and do. To practice the emails. Yeah.
Warners don't need extra time. Can't skate. What's going to? What's an
hour 15 going to change.
We're tired for the real one.
Why would I waste my energy?
That's right.
That's right.
Well, I think we've
like we've done our best today.
And for all you stressed out, parents, chill that
F out. Yeah.
It's okay.
You talk about all of the negatives
that came from COVID.
One of the few positives
is parents no longer being able to go
inside to watch the evaluation.
Are you not even allowed in?
there's a lot of them you're you're out we can't see anything at all um although there are the
psychodads that will just subscribe to the cameras in the rink and watch there it's wild well so this is
the issue though so it's two sides it's like so my eight nine 10 year old 11 year like I'm not
allowed to go watch him as how like you can watch crazy a society that this is you have to
ban me from this well I'm not going to
signing. Yes, but again, it's the, it's the kooks ruining it for everyone. Correct. That is absolutely
that's happened. And there's a lot of kooks. You coached last year, didn't you? I did. Any kooks?
We had some, uh, kook behavior. Was it kookish? Cooke-like behavior? It was kookish.
Yeah, some throat slashing.
Gestures.
Yes, good.
Yeah.
That's cookie.
Yeah.
I'm sure you dealt with what most coaches deal with,
which would be really, really rational parents that are level-headed and have great perspective on their child's place on the team.
Most of the, again, most parents.
Wonderful.
Yeah.
Wonderful.
Yeah.
A couple.
Most people are good.
Most people are good.
well I guess
good luck on that parlay
hey guys
yeah did we nail down
what that's gonna look like
or Sunday where we want to meet
were you guys in or check go
in the way
I'm gonna be totally
evals watching red zone on my phone
gross
I know
check oh
wow you enjoy that
yeah
thanks for
Bill's mafia going
what about you retro
what are your plans
I got the red zone
fired up over here
oh it's gonna be so good
You want to come see my dog?
No, I don't think so.
Jack?
Do you make a buns?
Jack, what do you?
I could make fun.
My girlfriend got the notice Thursday, Friday, Sunday.
I'm completely booked.
Evicted or what?
Yeah.
What happened?
The eviction notice?
Yeah, no.
What are you doing?
Oh, he's booked.
Bucked.
Thursday.
Tonight.
You put it in the calendar.
Tomorrow night, Sunday, all day.
Wow.
I'm going to different houses.
crowds of people
are popular
living in the dreams
see being in your 20s
that's just the best stuff
you know we got to get right this year though
American Thanksgiving
yeah we all gotta be together
we got to do something
well Jack you and I were together
we were until you bailed
well we'll make better plans
we gotta plan things
that good luck
yeah
the gentlemen on screen with me
are very good at a number of things
planning is not in the top
Listen, I was very planned.
We did a kitchen show, didn't we?
Yes.
Jack was at my house.
He produced from my place.
Bontan meat markets supplied unbelievable grub.
We had turkey cordon blue.
We had a whole bunch of big spread potato salad.
We had all that stuff going.
It was the, it was kind of like wedding crashes.
It's the American Thanksgiving crashing.
It's what we did.
But Warner, you'll be going back there, won't you?
I'm going back there, won't you?
You won't even be here.
I would think you're going back to Buffalo for it.
You used to always do that when you lived here.
We did.
I think there will people from the home front going back,
but I don't believe I'll be part of the committee.
Even better.
Is there some trouble?
Well, we're going to keep the House of Buffalo too just to see.
It's a planning thing, hey?
We'll talk about it off here.
I suppose it's all five.
But you're right, Jack.
You know what?
Just in general.
We could use more planning.
Is American Thanksgiving still in November?
I feel like that gives us enough time to get our ducks in a row.
Yeah.
Maybe I'll be there.
Brett,
will you be there?
Is that what we're doing?
Run Deets.
I mean,
I'll be,
I'll go somewhere.
I don't know if I want to go to Boomshouse.
I got a big screen.
Jack,
how's the TV and how's the same?
Excellent TV.
Have you a big screen.
Were you bragging?
You have a big screen TV.
No,
I'm just saying.
The world is a freaking,
like the big screen TV.
Big screen TV right here.
I'm inviting you over.
I just, I feel like I have a,
I'm set up to have you guys over.
We'll cook.
Well, my house.
We'll have some food.
I got two big screens.
All right.
These are the people I work with.
All right.
See you, buddies.
Are the bells playing?
See it, buddies.
