Starting point is 00:00:13 Hi, buddies. Welcome to the podcast. The positive podcast. Positive podcast today. We're very positive today. Today's feeling good. We're feeling great. Why wouldn't you? Still 2025.
Starting point is 00:00:28 You have a choice? You can feel any way that you want to feel. So I travel out my kids and people in my house. You can choose to feel how you feel. If you want to feel that way, you can feel that way. If you don't want to feel, you just, you don't grab a hold of it and change it. It's the kind of day we're having. based on the temp in here jack who's having the best day
Starting point is 00:00:47 probably red that's maybe cabby about is cabby here cabby left okay yeah cabby would have been inspired either usually he's a flip side who's having the worst day it's probably a tie between me and you i think it might still i want to throw my hat to rain i want to you throw your hat okay there's a lot going on behind the scenes with old retro i could see that you guys were down but being the good team guy.
Starting point is 00:01:13 I'm just trying to, like you said, probably the troops. Trying to find some ray of sunshine and I guess that's my role. Yeah. I'm good at that. You know what I'm seeing? It's technicalities.
Starting point is 00:01:29 Yeah, Jack's dealing with. Jack's dealing with some technical issues. I've had some technical issues. Which is really when you think about it's not something to get you down. It's not something to sidetrack. It's not the end of the world, no. Say, fuck it. Ignore it. Move on.
Starting point is 00:01:44 Just say fucking move on. Let's go for a drink. Welcome to the show. A presentation of Bet365, game props, player props, totals, the money line, whatever your bet is, it's never ordinary. A bet 365. Download the app. Get into the game.
Starting point is 00:02:01 And we've got the super chat going for you today. Proceeds going to the U. Centers of Calgary, helping out the kids of our city. All of it with your generosity. We'll put your comments with that are accompanied with a little. cash donation, we'll put him on the show for you. We'll talk about him. Can I just, sorry, I interrupt you.
Starting point is 00:02:20 Good. If Pinder reaches out, Jack, do not let him in the show. Yeah. I'm worried that this is about the time when he'll start feeling the need to, and that will just put us right over the edge. I don't think we saw him last night, did we? After Burner.
Starting point is 00:02:37 No, I haven't heard from him at all. Yeah. Glorious. Good for him. Yeah, glorious. Usually he's sending a million things in the Pinda report. I know. Nothing.
Starting point is 00:02:47 Yeah. Because it doesn't know how to put them in the file themselves. No. He's no idea. Is that hard? No. It's the same as sending it to Jack. It's just adding another step in the process.
Starting point is 00:02:58 It's a here you do this. Yes. Take a photo and either put it in the folder or just send it to be and then I put it in the folder. Okay. So he's got it on his screen. Let me. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:09 So it's there. And so you can click and click to folder. or click or to email. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Got it.
Starting point is 00:03:20 It's either, it's as easy as that sounds. It's the same amount of clicks. Yeah. It'd be like if you were sitting at a table, the three of us, and you needed to hand something to Jack, you hand it to me first,
Starting point is 00:03:34 so then I hand it to Jack. There's absolutely one, too many steps. It's a three step, it's like a two-step thing with three steps in it. One step forward, two steps back. Well, here we are.
Starting point is 00:03:50 Flames last night. Low event hockey is how they characterized it, that Mike Futa, Mike Futa and David Amber, electrifying on the old Sportsnet broadcast. Electric. Yeah, electric. You didn't watch the game, eh? Did you?
Starting point is 00:04:11 Of course I do. I watched it when I watched it. I got home. Yeah. So I saw the nine minutes, five. No, I saw the, I saw, yeah. I saw the overtime goal. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:28 Then I watched, I got this, well, I should, maybe I get in trouble. There's new vehicles. They got this, that fancy Bluetooth. Yeah. You can watch. Yeah. Yeah. So I saw some.
Starting point is 00:04:43 Saw enough. I listened on the way home to old Wilsie. And when Wilsie's falling asleep during the game, I know it's not going to be... Yeah. Must watch. No, it was... I think I thought him and Megan said something about,
Starting point is 00:04:58 well, the Flames don't have a shot yet in the third. And Wilsie said, well, I guess the only saving grace is the Bruins have two. Yeah. Okay. Yeah, they ended with... That wasn't at the end of the third, but... They had one shot in the third. protecting that one-one tie.
Starting point is 00:05:19 So it was just basically a whole period. Yeah, shots were 25-20 in favor of the Bruins. Goal in the first period. Kind of Andrew Peake cutting to the net, loses control of it, and it kind of finds its way through. It's, oh, did he kick it or not kick it? No, it's just... Call the interference.
Starting point is 00:05:43 It's like this game is going to need all the goals. Let's allow it. be calling off goals. And then Blake Coleman, what a year. The Texas Tiger. The Texas Tiger. That's just effing terrible, by the way. It's not great.
Starting point is 00:06:01 Now, I hope he's being cheeky with it. And if you are, then it's okay. Yeah, it was his dad on the dad's trip. He called him the Texas Ties. The Texas Tiger. So again, you know what it is? It's that duo that you love so much. It's Backland with the little,
Starting point is 00:06:15 little no lucker to the slot. Coleman kind of gets all of it, but not all of it. You can't get a whiteboard. Whiteboard. I'm going to show you something. Thanks, Rhett. So this is the Warner Whiteboard. We're going to break it down.
Starting point is 00:06:36 This is big. Good finish in the corner there. Way to go. Yeah. Go ahead, Jack. Or are you looking for the whiteboard? No, I was going to, because that is part of it, is that's Coronado and our buddy Zadorov tied up.
Starting point is 00:06:50 in the corner. And they got tied up and one was hanging on to the other guy's stick and the other guy was hanging on to his stick and they kind of started to mess around and then Zadora falls down. Anyway, what I was laughing at was this is really cheeky. Watch this beauty. This is a Rett Warner assist from the blue line. Go ahead. Oh, oh, I'm following. Yeah, I was not ready for that. I didn't want that bag. You can't give me that pass. I go. I guess. that's Joel Hanley wearing 44 appropriately enough that a boy Joe and these two they know where they're going to be so that was the exciting play and Lee
Starting point is 00:07:31 yeah there's yeah there's a lot there it's the Zadorov in the corner mucking about with Coronado the the sure footedness of Hanley at the blue line but again for Blake Coleman if not Lomburg Got to be one of the hottest, one of the hottest goal scores for this team. He is handsome. 12 on the year, that leads the team. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:58 For Blake Coleman, that's unbelievable. Last year he had 15. It was like, well, you're not, you can't count on Coleman to be getting those kind of goals again. Look at them. It's doing great. And they get to overtime and Connor's area, a guy that we both, we're both fans. It's been not a great year for not productive. Not productive.
Starting point is 00:08:18 It's still hopeful. that things are coming around. You felt like if the guy could just stay healthy for any amount of time, he'd really start to take off. I think he's due for a good second half. I hope you're right. I think the injuries, I don't care what you say.
Starting point is 00:08:31 Slow you down to start of the year. So it is a power play. She's a beaut, Clark. And yeah, it's a shot and rebound. And it's in the net. Sometimes you've got to win the ugly ones,
Starting point is 00:08:47 do you know? Was he testing cakes there? And then the puck went in? It did have very much. It looked like he was kind of testing. He had the toothpick out. The one-handed cake tester, your game winner. Couldn't stop.
Starting point is 00:09:05 Had gone eight games without a goal. He gets one there. To your point, hopefully it opens the floodgates. It still shows spots where you're like, there's a lot of talent there. Yeah. I was saying to Kent last night on Afterburner. I kind of like it better when he's got a bit of a prick in his game. You know, the guy can be a bit of a prick.
Starting point is 00:09:29 It's hard to teach kids that. And is that a confidence thing when maybe you feel like you're not scoring and you're down and your confidence level is down? It's probably confidence. It's energy. It's, yeah, yeah, focusing on. I think a lot of it would be, are you just out there having fun and playing your ass off? Or are you worried about, oh, I haven't put up some points. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:48 I do think that. So it's another win for these flames. I'm not, well, good for them. And I'm not surprised it was a dog's breakfast. They had the big game to get the days off. You have the back to back against the Oilers. And then Boston comes to town. And unless you hate Linholm, there's a door off.
Starting point is 00:10:09 What are you excited about? Yeah. Still the holiday season, I don't care what anyone says. Those guys, they got families around and they've had to live it too. Outside of John Beecher, not a lot of reason to be. No. have a lot of animosity towards the Boston Bruins. No, because you don't even know what the Bruins are.
Starting point is 00:10:28 Yeah. What are they? And I don't know what they are. They don't look strong. They have a couple of guys out, but they're not game changers. This is their team. They're mucky middle. They're mucky middle.
Starting point is 00:10:47 They're mucky middle. They paid the goalie last year. They brought in Zadorov and Lindholm on July 1. those are their guys. Obviously, McAvoy's back there in Hampas, Limpone, but it's not a young team. Is there a little bit of J-E-T-E in Boston?
Starting point is 00:11:09 Just what, window closing? Yeah, just overall the way they're built. It's from the goaltender route. I don't know if Swayman's being what they were hoping for the last year and a half. The D. McAvoy's good. It's the door of. Zadorov. I think Lori's supposed to be good. He was supposed to be
Starting point is 00:11:30 turning into something. The Jets have Hellebuck. They've got Morrissey. They've got Pionk and they've got solid. I feel, again, I feel like the Jets are still a level up. Maybe. Pasternak and Yeah, I mean, Pastrnack. Pasternak, I mean, he should be a stud. Didn't see a lot out of them last night. I think he's frustrated. I think the Pasternak's going. Yeah. Jesus, I had a real good thing here. We were a first place to you.
Starting point is 00:11:56 I'm playing with Marchand and Bergerna and whoever all of a sudden. What did I do? I do like Bergerna. He was great. Everybody liked him. Anyway, and you know what? Because they had been losing some games and reading, they need to get this Aspero back.
Starting point is 00:12:15 The defenseman was playing really well. And they've not, is that the same guy? Yeah, that's the guy who was with the Wranglers a year ago. It's like, so you're relying on. relying on this guy to come in and shift your fortunes. They did make, and you said yesterday, you don't tinker with the lines. It's funny with the lines.
Starting point is 00:12:36 It's almost as though Huska's listening. He's like, go ahead, Warner, tell me what to do. And then goes and flips up. You're like, would you, yeah, can move these lines around. Do Backland? Like, do these guys have to be together all the time? Yeah, they do. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:48 And then yesterday, you're like, yeah, I kind of like. You don't need to shift anything. Move some guys around. put Zary with Hubert O and Frost, took Coronado, and put him with Backland and Coleman. I think that's a sign he doesn't like what Coronado spit up to. Yeah. Is that a message for Zeri? Is it a message for Coronado?
Starting point is 00:13:12 I like Coronado. But if he's not sworn, he's not doing a whole lot, is he? He's kind of cardio, skating around. look at me go. Yeah, I don't know. It's probably a little disrespectful, but he's a guy who was healthy, scratched, not that long ago,
Starting point is 00:13:33 and then he has responded when called out. Problem is, are we having to call you out all the time? Yeah, every 10, 12 games don't want to have to be moving lines around or moving you upstairs for a game. That said, you know, it was fine.
Starting point is 00:13:48 Worked, they won. Their game under 500, they could be 500 by 20, 2016. they could be 500 by 20, 2016. I wasn't sure if you heard me there. Just, you know. We talked about, so they sucked out of the gate. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:13 100%. A year ago, we thought they were going to suck. They were better than we ever imagined. Right. Battled for a playoff spot. And then they suck out of the gate and we're like, okay, this is your opportunity to make sure you get high-end talent in here. And they told us to go pounded.
Starting point is 00:14:31 sand. They did. We believe in this group, which is fine. And it's turning out that that belief is decently warranted. On the other hand, you feel like you're closing the door on the opportunity to dump guys now because you're going to put yourself back in the mix of, and I don't know where this turns out or how it turns out. Yeah. Because they are playing well. And you want to kind of for a team that's working and playing hard. Well, yeah, you feel like. They are. You feel.
Starting point is 00:15:04 Yeah, but you idiots are dropping them up. You feel like a bit of a dick. Yeah. Like you're trying to take away everybody's fun. We're not trying to do that. We'll get into it. But, um, Pike bomb, Pike bomb.
Starting point is 00:15:20 It's a Pike bomb. Pike bomb, baby me. Pike bomb, Pike bomb, Pike bomb. It's a pike bomb. Get ready for a big pike bomb. Damn, we had the same thing going. You click. Dry Pike.
Starting point is 00:15:44 Devin Cooley assigned a two-year contract extension with the team two times 1.35 million. Merry Christmas. Yeah, it's fine. You know, it's... They must like him in the room. That's good for him. Awesome. What?
Starting point is 00:16:04 That's a big part of being a backup. Oh, they must like him in the room. I don't know. Well, there's two ways I see it. Good job, kid. Good, good for him. Came in. He's a good guy.
Starting point is 00:16:25 Gets a contract two years. There was no guarantee. He would, I would just like a one-way deal, please. Just if I could not be in the America. This is better than that. He has started. 10 games going 4, 4 and 2 in those 10. Now it's the team.
Starting point is 00:16:43 I get it. 914, 2.40. It's also a bit of a commentary on their state of affairs in net. There isn't, it's wolf, and then it's just whatever. So this is what you do is you find a guy and you sign them. And they went and found Presvettes off and obviously not super enthralled with what he's brought to the table. They've got some other guys at the American Hockey League level. but Devin Cooley
Starting point is 00:17:10 played 10 games and got himself I almost make his own decisions I'm it's curious to me if I'm Devin Cooley and I'm looking around the league at all these dusters that are making tons of money and fake
Starting point is 00:17:30 starters and teams desperate for goaltending they're jumping on I mean you don't have a huge track record to walk in and negotiate for five, but you're not going to get any opportunity to ever become number one. Like, it's always that musical chairs with goalies.
Starting point is 00:17:54 There's just so few jobs. And I would, because it was not that long ago. He didn't know if he was even going to get the backup job. And when he won the backup job, the guy was on Cloud 9. It's like, oh, my God, it's unbelievable. I'm in the NHL. And then a contract, a two-year contract extension comes across. I think it would be hard to slide it back across and say,
Starting point is 00:18:15 no, I'm good. He's 28. But if you wanted to go and how old is he? 28. I think it's a great job by the flames, actually. Okay. Because it's cheap enough where they can, if he goes complete dog shit and they've got someone else,
Starting point is 00:18:31 but they don't need anyone else. Right? You don't know what I mean? I don't think they're desperate in developing someone else yet. They're probably going perfect. We'll get this guy in here. He's well-liked two years, cheapest chips. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:43 Two years, three years out, two and a half years, we'll start looking because then by that time, we could develop a guy for six years and maybe Wolf will be on his way. Yeah. I think it's a good deal. Yeah, for the flames, why not? You don't have anybody else banging on the door. This guy, like you say, he's kind of laugh.
Starting point is 00:19:03 He is well-liked. And they're both Californians, eh? Those... California. Los Gatos. well, you'd want to hang your hat here instead of California is beyond me, but whatever. Yeah, you wouldn't want to do that. Well, congrats to Devin Cooley.
Starting point is 00:19:17 And the flames. And the flames for getting a deal done. That's a good job. I can't believe Conroy works during the holidays. Good for you, kid. Well, he's got so much. He's going to, he's got to be watching this team. He's got the Wranglers on the go.
Starting point is 00:19:28 He's probably world juniors. Oh, he's in the States, Minnesota. Absolutely. Yeah. Hanging out of this boy, Billy G. Think so? Oh, tight as chip. Tight as chip.
Starting point is 00:19:38 Yeah, tight as chip. Chips. Chips are tight. Chips are very tight. Chipitis. There was a chip nomi at the ski hill the other day. Really? Tables flipped all. Chips everywhere.
Starting point is 00:19:47 No good. Did I mention we're in the McLeod Law Studios, Jack? I don't think I did. No, you didn't. The Cloud Law, LLP, they are the very best. Calgary-based, Calgary-born, Calgary, and they care about Calgarians. When you need legal assistance, you want to feel good about it. You want to feel that the people who are taking your cause and taking up, these people are the best.
Starting point is 00:20:08 And that's the nice thing, is they are. here. It's face to face. It's not over Zoom's not over telephone calls. It's face to face. And they are in fact the very best at what they do. MacLeod-dashlot.com. We've got a big 2026, I think, on the way with these guys. Well, I think they negotiated a Cooley's contract
Starting point is 00:20:26 too. Good for them. Wow. Got them involved. And you've said it's a win-win, so that makes sense. The player's happy, the team's happy. Everybody's happy. Tremendous. Tremendous. So we were talking about something. We could, I don't know. all the team can we look at the uh we look at the standings because it's another two points
Starting point is 00:20:46 for the flames and there were some teams that played last night in and around them and they didn't win it's not the flames kind of go up our october take is not a great take right now but we now we i'm taking credit for this i did say at one point are they actually a last place team based on their roster was that the bottom 10 more or less right there something like that yeah four almost want more because 38 points to 40 yeah that's observations overnight you look at the bottom eight teams there all of them from the west there has to be i mean winnipeg's a terrible place to live and exist but when you're losing that was the one thing they had was a good hockey team and apparently not
Starting point is 00:21:39 anymore. The Jets are second. I know we talked about yesterday. I said, yeah, by Christmas, you know, they should, they should not be there. They may not be Colorado or doubt, but they're not 34 points. Where did they finish last year? Well, they were a playoff team. Were they, they at home ice against St. Louis in round one.
Starting point is 00:22:03 Right? Yeah. So it's no point. So do we just kind of zoom in? Is that what we did that? No, I mean, this is the West. This is the West. Oh, I see.
Starting point is 00:22:16 Yeah. So I guess for the West, whatever, but I was just kind of looking at the bottom of the league standings because I feel like that's the, that's the conversation. Are you guys all West anywhere? Are you a lottery pick team or are you wild card? And still, you're with 38 points. You're not that far from the bottom, but, and you're not that far from a wild card. the kicker to me is if you're
Starting point is 00:22:44 it's fine and I'm not saying you're wrong at the start of the year they're not this bad okay so they're not that bad but I still there's still a team that should really be
Starting point is 00:22:57 strongly considering getting younger and trading assets away call it a rebuild if you want I don't care what you call it it's just what you do with what you're given and with this roster the way it's made up, the guys ages and what they're making and all of that. I'm 100% agree because when I look at those other rosters,
Starting point is 00:23:17 they're still, damn it, I want it back now. I mean, Winnipeg has stars. Chicago has stars. Nashville, they would be similar to the flames in my estimation where they've signed a bunch of older guys
Starting point is 00:23:32 that are no longer stars. And that's tough sledding. I forget all the people. I mean, whatever Seattle is, but it's they had a bad start. And I guess if they had more points, would we really view them differently? I really think.
Starting point is 00:23:53 Just sober observation. You're not going to be sucked in by thinking, oh, this is, no, this is a team. I wouldn't think of them differently, but a lot of people in town, if you added three wins in October, you're now above 500. And that's not, they didn't have many, wins. Like, they were absolutely dog shit to start the season.
Starting point is 00:24:14 So adding three wins isn't the far-fetched to in a month. And they would be, the problem being is that we haven't said it for a year. We haven't said it for two years. We've said it since Goddrow and Monaghan and Bennett and Kachuk all effed off. You have to redo this. You have to redo this. I'm not convinced. They're convinced.
Starting point is 00:24:37 Well, no, I don't think they are. I don't believe they're convinced of it at all. No. And if they are convinced of it, they're not admitting it or they're not saying it. No, it's their prerogative to go about it because in a way they're saying, you too, you, well, they don't care our opinion anyway, but you guys are idiots. Look at us. We're 500 now just right on New Year.
Starting point is 00:24:57 We've got half the season to scratch a claw. How far out of the playoff spot? Two, three, four. Three points? Three points? Like, if they walked in you, and you wanted to have a debate. I know.
Starting point is 00:25:10 If you're McLeod Law and I'm McLeod Law and we're debating the flames, you can stand on either side of the fence and argue it. There's ground to stand on. But I don't buy it. Because you are not, did you watch Colorado last night? Yeah, if you've watched Colorado on any given night,
Starting point is 00:25:30 yeah, that's the, they're the toast of the league. But at the same, that's who you would be facing. If you get into a wild card spot, that's what you're taking on. Good luck. Oh, you're going to get your ass whoop. Good luck. The best you can hope for is the gentleman's sweep.
Starting point is 00:25:47 You might get a wolf's steel somewhere along the way. And with every passing year, Coleman and Backland are playing great right now. Awesome. You want to, you want to wager that that's going to continue for much longer? Well, you know what I love is that they have all this science nowadays, right? and numbers and stats and blah, bullshit, predictions and blah, blah, blah, blah.
Starting point is 00:26:17 I don't even know what they call it anymore. It used to be one thing called coursey. Well, there's analytics. That's the word I'm looking for. What are the analytics on 35-year-old forwards? Yeah, I was going to say, you don't need science to just look at birth certificates. Or if you have to base all your decisions on this, then look at it. Maybe that's our gig.
Starting point is 00:26:38 We should do the analytics on 35-year-old forwards. and what the likelihood of continued success is. Blake Coleman on a Dallas Stars team this year, one F of a player. Yes. That is. Blake Coleman on a Stanley Cup contender. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:00 Holy F. What a contributor. Drop Nazim Codry into Colorado. Yeah. Holy shit. Yes. Not when they're your kingpins. They are not the.
Starting point is 00:27:13 pivot points that lead you to success. Come on, McLeod law. Argue. Argue. But it's, yeah. And you just, you, you give credit to the coaches and the players because they are in my estimation, and there's a chance I'm wrong, but in my estimate, this is about peak performance, 10, 2 and whatever on home ice.
Starting point is 00:27:39 And they, this is as good as it gets. And I don't know that it's sustainable for a lot longer. Well, 10, 2 and 1 with anyone. is not so numbers. So feel free to prove us wrong again, but it's highly unlikely, highly unlikely. And I said it to a bunch of people over the break.
Starting point is 00:27:59 I never thought they should be last place, but I thought they should have taken advantage of being in last place. They're not. So, okay, they've climbed out of it. What they have is a group of guys that when they show up every game, they have depth.
Starting point is 00:28:18 So if everyone's on the same page, they can, and wants to compete, they can, they can do that. But it takes 82 full out efforts, four lines and six defensemen and the goaltender in 82 of your games. Because you don't have any game breakers. You don't have anyone that's going to get you two points just because. You might say wolf, but I don't think he's being that this year. Can he be? Yes? Do I think he's a really good?
Starting point is 00:28:51 Absolutely. He's not Dominic Hashek. He's not going to get six shutouts in December. No. He's a really good goalie. But that's what you have as a team. You have a group of pieces, a bunch of parts that are NHLers. And if they show up and work their asses off, they can give themselves a chance to win.
Starting point is 00:29:13 We should celebrate it. The problem being is we've had this for a long time in the city, and we're looking for more. And you can look up north and go, holy F, would it be nice to have a run at a Stanley Cup? It sucked for them to lose. I'm happy they didn't win. A semi-final appearance would be real.
Starting point is 00:29:34 And you're not going to get that out of these guys. Because when the other teams that are really good get into playoffs and they have more talent and they work as hard as you, you get your ass whooped. Yeah, you just, you want to have that team that if they go on a run and that that's that's a logical expectation of what the team's capable of decade of good hockey all to respect to you guys oh four that was you know what cinderella shit flash in a pan to have a team that you're not can they get into
Starting point is 00:30:06 where are you finishing in the playoffs playoffs playoffs yeah that's we're going to get through 82 and then it begins all of this would be would be great if they were if they were embracing more of a turn. Part of the sort. But I just, I worry because it's, I do say judge by their actions, not by their words. So I'm kind of talking out of both sides of my mouth here. But if this continues and they're right around,
Starting point is 00:30:35 I do wonder, because there will be three options with Raspus Anderson specifically. You trade them, you resign them, or you let the contract play out and then he bolts. I think those are the three. I know what my option. I know what I think they'll do. I'll guess. I think you think they're going to sign them. I think they will want to sign them.
Starting point is 00:31:05 I don't know if they'll be able to. I think they'll walk them to free agency at minimum. Oh, boy. At minimum. Really? I do. I think they're going to put themselves in a position where because it's what you've said. their actions are what matter.
Starting point is 00:31:23 What have they done in the past? For the past 20-some years, we've compiled players in the hopes of just getting it. They traded Lindholm, they traded Zedorov. They asked out. They asked out. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:42 They asked out. Zorov said, you guys suck. I'm the best defenseman in the world. Hanifan. They wanted to sign Hanifan. I guess that's the only... They wanted to sign Hannafin. We just heard how they wished they had some of the players.
Starting point is 00:31:55 That'd be the only wrinkle is that if they trade, is it a pre-deadline deal, or are they trading the contract rights in the offseason? Yeah. Before July 1, bullshit. And like we just said, you can argue both sides. Rasmus Anderson is playing effing good hockey. 25 minute a night defenseman.
Starting point is 00:32:16 He can play. We like how he plays. His effort is. often the best on the team. Yeah. Why wouldn't you want them? Who's playing with these young kids? They're looking at next year.
Starting point is 00:32:33 They're saying, we're not going to have this shitty start next year. And I hear Pinder in my head, and I think he's right, is that it's all well and good to want to sign them. It's what is that, what's the number? Rasmus has to be happy.
Starting point is 00:32:46 He's confusing, though Ryan's confusing, and teams are confusing because the cap's going up so it doesn't matter. but we can't Yeah, no, I know. I get confused. And then we trade them to another team that will pay him that much. And I'm not saying don't.
Starting point is 00:33:01 But they're going to pay them that much, but they're idiots. Or is he asking so much more to stay here? That's the thing. Because now there's layers to it is I don't know that they should sign them really at all. I think they absolutely should trade them. And then if you sign them, it doesn't feel like there's a whole, hometown discount. Even if there is, it's going to be, well, okay, it's another guy in his 30s
Starting point is 00:33:28 that you're going to have with a lot of miles on them. I would just rather that be somebody else's challenge and risk and dice roll. But past history, yeah, I, their past history speaks to where status quo and we're going to ride it out. We aren't swinging for fences. And the one that gets me mad is that they won't admit defeat. They're telling us that they're a good team. No, you're not. You have not made the playoffs for years. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:01 There's been no playoff success, history. Don't tell me that you're good. That's the one that pisses me on. Oh, you guys are playing hard. Huska's coaching them well. I give them credit for their effort. Don't tell me you're a good team. That's good teams winning the playoffs.
Starting point is 00:34:19 Michael Backlin's your captain and was like, oh, cheap shot against back. Michael Bagelan has hardly played a playoff game. He's played more than Gio when he was your captain, but he's hardly played. How many series had they won? Yeah, it's, yeah, it's there again, it's not analytics.
Starting point is 00:34:39 That's easy to figure all that out. What they are is, they are a average team that there's, I'll say this, there is something sort of special with how they play as a group. I think they have a good chemistry, and I do believe them when they say they do. In the past, there's been times where it's like, don't tell me you're a good chemistry, because I'm watching this BS on the ice.
Starting point is 00:35:02 That's not hockey. Yeah. Because you can't see it. There's guys you can see with Clapka and Lomburg and these, yeah. And I said we were talking last night. You look at teams like Toronto, and there's some other teams that they, they, It's so dysfunctional and they can't seem to get things right and they can't come together. And it's a matter.
Starting point is 00:35:24 Not with this team. No, I don't feel that. Every line that takes the ice, they go out and they bust their ass and they play hard. They scored one goal in regulation. And then got a kind of a bounce going their way. It's not a shot.
Starting point is 00:35:41 It's just to me really does seem like it's fairly clear. Do the old Daryl's. Noodles brings it up all the time where it's, all right. Jack, if you could do it, I don't know if you can't quickly, but find a team that's in a playoff spot. Doesn't really like a... The roster you mean? Yeah, the roster.
Starting point is 00:36:02 And just do the matchups and see. Oh, yeah. You know what, Jack, I don't even know if you need to... Yeah, don't bother, but... Because, yeah, it's... You're not going to win many of those battles. Frost Cadre backland down the middle. You have a team of second and third line.
Starting point is 00:36:24 Yes. It's fine. I don't just. You don't have any bona fide first line guys. And Weeger has had a heck of a season. And he is, I mean, he's battling. And I like the guy. But it's a struggle.
Starting point is 00:36:38 On that power play last night, they do the bump back twice. I don't know what's turned. So I can't decide. Is last year what he was? I don't think so. Is this sure what he is? No, I think it's somewhere in the middle. I don't think he's a,
Starting point is 00:36:53 he works his ass off. I don't question that ever. I don't think he's a 20-gold defenseman. I think he's an Olympic, Olympian. I think he's a real solid defenseman that can help your team and can play some minutes, and it looks like a good teammate.
Starting point is 00:37:13 But I don't. Yes. So he is two, he's two years removed. He had 20, goals in 23, 24. Last year, eight goals. Yeah, but he had and 47 points. And now it's, I mean,
Starting point is 00:37:25 he went from plus 18 to minus 16. It's a struggle for him. And how old? He's 31. So when do the he's 31? I'm telling you. It just, yeah. There's too much of that. It's not a shot against him. It's against the organization for
Starting point is 00:37:45 compiling a bunch of guys that, I don't know, what's the average? age. Maybe I'm out to lunch. It feels like these guys, they would be older than most of them. But it's fine if you're a team that's in the playoffs and you're having success. Yes. Not when you're trying to build
Starting point is 00:38:02 into. Not when you've been missing for years. Yeah, that's a good point. Cadreysand Backland, one, two, three, and team scoring. Okay, keep going. So, Cadry's 30 mid. Yeah. Anderson's 30, right? Yeah, well, yeah, whatever. Backland is
Starting point is 00:38:20 30 plus. On the back half, 30. Then Coronado, then Coleman. Then Frost. Coleman's old. For this world, he's old. He's 34. For this world, he's old.
Starting point is 00:38:40 He ain't improving. You know what I mean? If you can hold on to status quo, which he's playing damn good hockey, that's all you're praying for. Who else? Hubbard is old. The shitty thing for me is that all our best players are old.
Starting point is 00:38:55 Yes, that's what I'm getting at is that you can say Coronado is, but he's going to have to have someone to play with. And it just feels like to me, if I'm a fan, if I were to sit down and have a beer with the guys running the team and they're, hey, look, no, we're, it's like, you know all your guys are over 30. No, we're a veteran team. I would just, I'll buy his beer and I'm out. I can't listen to this shit. Well, and your rebuttal was a very good one. Yeah, but you don't make the playoffs with your veteran team. Yeah, so how many rounds did you win last year with the veteran guys?
Starting point is 00:39:34 Oh, none. Year before? None. This year, still, you're not in a playoff spot. So you're not good enough to get in the playoffs with your veteran team, which was younger years ago. It's the hardest thing about doing this show because they deserve a lot of credit. It was a slop fest last night. I am not.
Starting point is 00:39:55 I'll say, what, you know what a good, what do good teams do? They win when they're not at their best. Oh, they're out of whatever. Yeah,
Starting point is 00:40:01 there's family in town. It's Christmas. It was a shit. It was a bit of a shit show. They found a way. That's what good teams do. And, uh,
Starting point is 00:40:09 I seem loathe to give them credit. And it's not that. Yeah, but you're not critiquing the players in their effort. You're critiquing the organization and their approach to what, what they're trying to sell. That's the criticism. We do a daily show where you need to have a,
Starting point is 00:40:24 small, like a micro kind of focus. But I can't, I'm so focused on the big picture that I worry about the short term success affecting the big picture. And you would hope that they know what they're doing. But I worry at times that they know what they're doing. Because I think they know what they're doing, but they do things the way they want to. If you're behind closed doors and you're like, like, this is great. Then yes, because Blake Coleman is playing his balls off. He'd bring in a ton in trade. Rasmus Anderson has not been a distraction.
Starting point is 00:41:07 He's been a stud. You'd get a ton of in a trade. I don't know what you do with cadre. You don't need to do it right now, but shit. Why not? If you can make the decision that you're going to try and expedite this, dump. It's like, oh, what does that do to the room? The room's going to have to get over it.
Starting point is 00:41:26 Because if the return is out there for these guys who are playing some of their best hockey that we've seen them play in years, we're going to have to make moves to get better. But if it is one of those, oh, we think we're, did you look at the standings? We're right there, guys. You're going to have to throw in some beers with that. See you later. Coming up tomorrow, I think we'll have Jamie McClennon joining us. I haven't touched Ace Jamie.
Starting point is 00:41:56 I think that's not very nice. I should have sent him a text. I mean, I got his ass whipped by the razor. And he has come out of the hospital. That was the 23rd, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because I think, yeah, he was working last night.
Starting point is 00:42:11 Oh, so he's safe. Yeah, I saw him working last night. So he survived it at the very least, yeah. Yeah. Covering the Ottawa senators. I was going to say, like, because we bang the flames about a little bit. they could look at the senators what are they because they've been building they've been stockpiling they're through this they're one point out of last in the east oh it's been a bit of a struggle
Starting point is 00:42:45 but but again three points out of a wild card yeah there's just no there's no separation there's no separation three points out for the flames three points back of the sharks for this for the wild card. And four points out of last. All right. Fair enough. Like how many other teams? All of them.
Starting point is 00:43:09 Like where's Chicago? Are they, their bottom? They have 34. Flames of 38. So Chicago has a long... Bernard skating yesterday. He's expected back here soon.
Starting point is 00:43:23 That'll help. But yeah, that doesn't feel like it's a playoff team or a team that's going to go on a real run. The Jets are a funny one. Vancouver have actually been okay since the Quinn Hughes trade. I don't think St. Louis is very good. No. I don't think Nashville or Utah or Seattle are very good. Yeah, but are they really bad? I just think those will be the teams when it's said and done.
Starting point is 00:43:53 Maybe Winnipeg finds a way to pull themselves out. there's a lot of climbing. It's a lot of climbing. But then again, I'm only looking at because, oh, they're way at the bottom. Yeah. Points wise, maybe not. So anyway, I assume Jamie's going to join us tomorrow. He'll do it on the Crystal Waters plumbing and heating insider hotline. Crystal Waters.
Starting point is 00:44:19 Did you have a nice warm Christmas? I bet you did. I know I did. I feel like it was one of those things because the guys of Crystal Waters that came by and they installed my garage heater, but they also did the, well, we're going to look at the mechanical heart of your home.
Starting point is 00:44:35 And I feel like it was one of those things where they, not that it's bad, but I don't know if I had full disclosure. You know, where they're kind of, oh, yeah, yeah, no, we'll take a look. Yeah, I mean, there's some things here. Do you have any filters, any, the furnace filters? Because I'll throw one in there.
Starting point is 00:44:54 I feel like what's like, dude has not been looking after shit. I feel like they were kind of doing me a solid by. So is there stuff? Yeah, no, I mean, there's a few things. We just kind of some cleaning up here. I wonder if they just, they pull that thing off.
Starting point is 00:45:10 It's like, oh my God. Okay. Well, he's not here. Is he? Is he up? Okay, good. He's having donuts upstairs.
Starting point is 00:45:16 Because this is going to take, this is going to take some work. Wasn't expected to see this. Crystal Waters, plumbing and heating. Your crystal clear choice for home comfort. 403, 219, 4,100, and truly, something goes sideways in your home. Something's not working quite right. They are the ones.
Starting point is 00:45:32 First thing that pops into your head, crystal clear, Calgary.com, crystal waters, plumbing, and heating. What do you think Jamie does, like, he's so wealthy? He does so much. It works so many jobs. A beautiful home. He's got Tesla's driving him around Toronto. Like, what do you get? literally the guy that has everything.
Starting point is 00:45:56 What's, because he's a little finicky too, right? He's kind of, find out tomorrow. Yeah, find out tomorrow. He likes popcorn. How are you feeling, Jack?
Starting point is 00:46:09 Yesterday, you said you were kind of battling. You felt okay, but your voice was kind of labored. I feel better today. I think I sound a little better. Let's have a drinky show tomorrow. Should we not invite Pinder?
Starting point is 00:46:24 Yeah. When is Pender back? Who can't know? New Year's Eve party. You have? Pinder. Yeah. Now, you were saying, Jack, you've got after burner tomorrow for the New Year's Eve.
Starting point is 00:46:39 It's an early game. Isn't that it's kind of? I think it's a 730. Oh, later game. Okay, never mind. With my luck, it'll go to overtime. Yeah, got to have some overtime. Well, I'm not working.
Starting point is 00:46:49 I don't think. It's not you? I don't think. Well, I don't know. I haven't looked. I knew it was last thing. Is this ordinarily a big night for you? Do you love the New Year's Eve?
Starting point is 00:47:03 Not really anymore. It's just another day. What am I going to do? Floor it because you know the next day. That's the attitude. What am I going to do? It's gone to the point. Every time I go out and floor it, I'm just sick.
Starting point is 00:47:17 So I'm just going to stay at home. That is true. Yeah, I've started to notice that. And people in my life have been telling me. me that. You have a very flimsy kind of air about you. Yes. Very delicate flower. Yes, apparently. I'm going to have to think about this. Someone brought that up. Every time you go out and get super drunk, you end up sick for like a week. Like, yeah. Yeah. I think that's true. Yeah, your batting average on that is quite high. Yes. So maybe just staying in. Now, you're a big
Starting point is 00:47:51 party animal. Oh, wild guy. Yeah. What do you got tomorrow? Oh, yeah. there's been a lot no there's been some discussion on a few things got invited to the Gleons house thanks Wesley oh okay thought about having a usually we go to castle
Starting point is 00:48:10 yeah could do that but the in-laws are here and then you feel bad because they don't want to be on ski yeah get stuck then I'll sit around to do nothing hanging out watching flames here yeah there's nothing wrong with that.
Starting point is 00:48:27 Maybe I should go. Maybe I should work. You should go to the game. Maybe I should do after burner. Yeah, I don't think you want to do that. No. No, probably not. No.
Starting point is 00:48:38 You know what? I'll tell you what, and we don't talk about it enough. Because we start this show after, it's well after 10 o'clock some days, but it's, you know, 10, 50 and somewhere around there. You're driving into work. You want some, well, the game was last night. I would like some. We do after burner after every game.
Starting point is 00:48:55 therefore you're it's on the YouTube you can download it listen to it there you yeah that's wearing the shirt right there look at afterburner big fan head on last night fire it on in the morning on your commute into work here any number that we got cammy keppke we got mike gould we got ryan pike we got some sort of paradox that's the paradox if the team guys do well the team does well which makes it more you heard can't throw that out i did i've i caught the same thing. It's like paradox. That word doesn't come up on our
Starting point is 00:49:26 shows very often. That's an impressive word. He's, you know what? He's a, he's a sharp guy. He's a writer. Does that make you smart? Well, I don't think it does, but I know that he's a smart writer. Like he's doing, he does stuff for the Herald. He's done stuff. He's a sharp dude. Doesn't they give DeHajuck something yesterday? I don't know. Yeah, they gave him an award.
Starting point is 00:49:49 Did they? Well, he's deserving, whatever it is. He used to write. Yeah. Eric Duhatchek, Globe and Mail, Calgary Herald. We should do the Pinder Report and put it in there. Sure. Do the Pinder Report? I suppose we can do that.
Starting point is 00:50:05 Why wouldn't we do that? I could do it right now. It's the Pinder Report. It's brought to you by Village Honda, located in the Northwest Auto Mall and online at VillageHonda.com. It's the Boxing Week's spin-and-win event for the next day or two. Until the 2nd of January, every spin is a winner. You could earn a CRV bonus.
Starting point is 00:50:25 of up to $10,000 on all in stock, 2026 CRVs. That is now at Village Honda. VillageHonda.com is the website. Flames Nation. Yeah, they got riders. I don't think Kent's writing there anymore. Used to. Maybe he will again someday.
Starting point is 00:50:44 But they got the writers writing. The latest, a Flames victory. Another home ice win. Flames found a way to win ugly in overtime. triumph over Boston. Seems accurate. Grind it out. It really was. It's one of those things when everybody kind of is like, ooh, did you, yeah, okay, yeah. Mm-hmm. Yeah. It's like we say retro. Sometimes you paint the masterpiece and sometimes you paint the barn. And there was some
Starting point is 00:51:18 heavy barn. Heavy, heavy barn. Yeah, but the barn's got some, got a new coat of paint. A new coat looks good. I do like the Boston Unis. Yeah, classic. Yeah, so classic. It's way better than that. What do they call that heroin bear? Yeah, that weird kind of, is that what they call them? I don't know what it is, but it's not complimentary, whatever.
Starting point is 00:51:45 It's a thing like Boston, when you play in all these outdoor games and that, oh, we've got to get our old jerseys, you guys change jerse, dude, you, you run out of stuff after a while. Just wear your jersey. Just wear your jersey. Just wear the jersey. It's fine. So that's the scoop there.
Starting point is 00:52:02 We've looked at the standings plenty. The flames are within striking distance of a wild card spot. They have 38 points, three back. I've got it too. You've got it? Let's have a, a wager on whether they will ever get into a playoff position this year. If they're not to do it today, something to think about.
Starting point is 00:52:26 Like they just have to be there for one day. Will they ever? Crack in to the top eight. You know who would not like to do that or would have stipulations? I do. Would be the hairy one at the end of the table. We'll have to do it before he gets. Because it would be a points percentage because if we with games played,
Starting point is 00:52:42 it's going to be odd. He can't do make believe. He can't pretend. Well, you can't context. I mean, now for context. For context. The hell does context have to do it. Edmonton.
Starting point is 00:53:01 You know what? I will say yes. Yes. I will say yes that for even a moment or let you know what, it's got to be the morning after all the games are done. Because it's like, oh, well, so-and-so is still on the ice. Okay. But as a, yeah, start of the day.
Starting point is 00:53:18 There has to be a morning where you wake up and look and points percentage wise. You're in a playoff spot. My God. I'll say yes. I'm going to say yes too. I think it's going to happen pretty soon, honestly. their schedule seems pretty do like they can win the next four Seattle, Nashville, Flyers.
Starting point is 00:53:42 And all they do is win at home. Yeah, they got four in a row at home. What are you thinking, Red? I'm kind of with you. It does make much fun of a bet. Now, with the assholes, why wouldn't we be happy for them? Okay, that's the goal. I'd be happy if they're correct and they're,
Starting point is 00:54:07 assumption that they can make the playoffs because if you sell me on we're a playoff team okay I can't argue with you I don't agree with it I don't buy it I don't think it's a long-term plan with a bunch of older guys but it is the playoffs all right it's like winning the Stanley Cup you have carte blanchev right like we went all in on this and yes we're screwed for this year but see I'll we have banner if they make the playoff and win the cup. I'll do the full the mea culpa, the apologies,
Starting point is 00:54:42 I'll lay it down all the weapons. Hey, I'm an idiot. You guys are so smart. Here's the next question then. In the Pinder report. Yeah. Will they make the,
Starting point is 00:54:53 have a spot in the playoffs ever this year? And we all think yes. Will they make the playoffs? I still say no. I still say no. Jack? No.
Starting point is 00:55:04 But I don't think their division's very good. But no stipulation. It's a yes or no. Nope. Okay, so none of us think they make the playoffs. Do they ever, how much longer are we doing this? A year or two? Let's say it's a decade.
Starting point is 00:55:20 Oh, God. Any chance at a Stanley Cup in that time frame? I said this. I don't know how much time I got left. In my lifetime, they have one cup win. I'm not sure. Is that a state? statement. They have one cup win
Starting point is 00:55:43 in my life to this point. Will they win another? It's hard to win, Red. It's not easy. It's hard to win. Some good teams out there. Some real talent. By the time Colorado falls off, Chicago and San Jose are going to be real good. That's another five to ten.
Starting point is 00:56:10 So the question. Jack, you were dead when they won. Will they ever win when you're alive? God, I hope so. Just once, please. Just one cup. It's funny, because you think about it's like there are generations of baseball fans that cheered for their team. Oh, yes.
Starting point is 00:56:30 I've never seen. Yeah, there's a lot of teams in the NHL. Like, you don't get one every 32. Look at the Buffalo Bills. Four in a row, Dino. Four straight, made it there. Couldn't win. Oops.
Starting point is 00:56:45 Ooh. So will they make, will they be in a playoff position for even a sniff? It's kind of, we say yes. Yes. Will they be at the end of season? Jack, you seem to be the most positive. I'm going to say no. Okay.
Starting point is 00:57:04 Will they be in the draft? Like, will they, like how far, will they be in the bottom five, let's say? No. I agree with Jack on that. These assholes. If they made the playoffs, we're playing. All they do is it just feels like they want them to lose.
Starting point is 00:57:31 They go out and they beat teams and then they bitch and moan about it. It's because we're stuck in the middle. Yeah, we, what place? It's Steelers wheel. What place are we? Oh, yeah. Mid. All right, so last night, Flames win by a score of two to one.
Starting point is 00:57:51 Good boys. Connor Zeri gets the overtime. winner had gone eight. It was his ninth game. He's got one goal in his last nine. That's it. So hopefully that turns things around for him. Junk or not for the offense. Anything else from this game? Again, we've talked about it. Coleman Backland continued to. Please move on. Go down. Let's talk about the Sabres because I would love the Buffalo. Sabers won. Do you want to talk about? That's a charge. No, I was going to just did. Michael Backland has 24.
Starting point is 00:58:25 points in 39 games. Pretty good. Trade his ass. He just signed a contract. So what? Perfect. He's under contract. Michael Backland leads the team with a plus 15.
Starting point is 00:58:38 I'm never and haven't questioned Michael Backlens' ability. I've questioned his hand. Can he help them win? 24 points in 39 games. His career high is 53 points. Last year he had 32. 56 points. pardon me it's crushing it he's crushing it's what you need veterans to get you 50 points
Starting point is 00:59:10 don't do that it's so cheek it's so sorry sorry so what's next it's the philadelphia flyers 730 that kid they drafted it he's not exactly uh who mishkoff yeah Isn't he supposed to be light in the world? He's got nine goals, 20 points, and 37 games. Yeah, I think there was more expected. There was more expected of him. But I think it's important we give these kids time. I'm patient.
Starting point is 00:59:49 Trevor Zegris has cooled a little bit, but he's still a point of game guy for them, 37 points and 37 games. I like Travis Kineal lot. He's a little, you know what he is? He's a little bastard. and I love every I love every bit of it. Love every bit of it.
Starting point is 01:00:06 And they've got that, they've got that goalie there too, right? I wonder if we'll see that goalie tomorrow. Let's, I don't know who that goal is, but I'm sure you do. Sure we will. Like just, he's good, though. You know him well.
Starting point is 01:00:20 Yeah, he's awesome. Like that guy. Real good. Dad Ladar. Oh, I didn't know. Yeah. He used to play here. He's a good chance you see him tomorrow, maybe.
Starting point is 01:00:35 That'd be fun, hey? Yeah. For sure, would you? Grumpy bastards. No, we're not. Flyers are in Vancouver. Oh, this evening. So they'll have that travel to deal with.
Starting point is 01:00:52 And the time change. Yeah, the altitude. Coming back with the altitude and the longitude and the latitudes and all that sort of thing. Big benefit for the flames. Elsewhere from last night. Is that it for, move on to the outtown score. 40, Jack? Yeah, let's...
Starting point is 01:01:05 The Florida Panthers, 5-3 win over the Washington Capitals. Have you seen what's... Brad Marchand is up to? This guy is killing it right now. Vitamin D, Jack, get some vitamin D. He's leading the Florida Panthers in scoring. 44 points. He has 22 goals.
Starting point is 01:01:28 How old is he? In 37 games. Maybe he... Maybe that's his... He's an old goat. 37. See? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:01:38 It's like the universe is just saying, F you guys. Oh, young kids get young, Bubba. No, Brad Marchand. Now, Brad Marchand on the Boston Bruins still. Hard pressed to see him having 22. But in Florida,
Starting point is 01:01:53 playing with the likes of the guys that he is, I believe it was another two or three point night for Sam Reinhart. So anyway, they find a way to win last night do the do the Pantaros when you talk about teams that are just
Starting point is 01:02:09 hanging around waiting for the playoffs to start Belzito's not listening to me either remember I said just tank yeah you did say that yeah I did
Starting point is 01:02:23 yeah I think they should they're not gonna and why do you think they should because you don't have Barkov and Kach and they're hurt and I don't and it the likelihood again you could get in the analytics and the of winning going to the
Starting point is 01:02:43 finals four times in a row I don't think they're financially in need of a playoff run and they could quickly add a top five pick to a roster that will immediately be awesome again next year with barkoff back and they're still hard I'm just saying they could throw in the towel on a season right I can see why maybe he's... They might not even have a draft pick. Not run headlong into that strategy. Tom Wilson had another pair of goals, I believe, last night. Tomorrow, is it tomorrow we get the rosters in that Washington?
Starting point is 01:03:21 What? Oh, I see. All right. See, that's the hard thing. It's not as... You're doing it all. Trying to fucking do everything here. I don't even know what the hell it's going on.
Starting point is 01:03:30 It's too late now. The rosters. Yeah, the big reveal party. Jack, we want to get together? Which, the Olympic rosters tomorrow? I think so. Like, where would it be? It would be under Wilson.
Starting point is 01:03:44 Yeah, but I guess I've got under B. Because, yeah, we do bring it up when it's a Wilson. It's not every Brian. No. Should be Wilson. Yeah. I'll work on it. Yeah, I think the rosters come out tomorrow.
Starting point is 01:04:01 Will you? There was a, uh, there was some leakage. on the internet. Some leakage on the internet, apparently. Fanatics, who does all the, you can buy your team stuff, merch stuff. Oh, I was wondering how you could get hold of this stuff.
Starting point is 01:04:21 Apparently. Apparently. On the old web there, you were able to buy some goodies. Well, if it's McKinnon and Crosby. Mitch Marner, Hockey Canada, Winter Olympics, textured puck Brad Marshand
Starting point is 01:04:41 Nick Suzuki I like Nick Suzuki I do too I don't think those guys would be considered slam dunks I mean Martiner was Who the hell are we to question The Canadian
Starting point is 01:04:55 Yeah not us We just sit here and We don't question management Much things take place Yeah Elsewhere last night The Rangers Fell in overtime to the
Starting point is 01:05:06 Carolina Hurricanes But they scored They did Yeah, but they were on the road. That Peter Kachetkov, goaltender for the hurricanes, it's quite good. He is going to quite likely miss the rest of the season having some surgery. He's had some issues, been dealing with it. They finally said, you know what?
Starting point is 01:05:27 Oh, get her done, son. Also helps that that Brandon Bussie goalie is just winning games all the time. You know what? You can, we care about your safety and your health first. Oh, okay. I wonder if the kid was shit and I was, would it still be the same thing? Oh, for sure it would be. For sure it would be.
Starting point is 01:05:46 The Columbus Blue Jackets beat the Ottawa Senators four to one. Trade involving the Blue Jackets and Jacks Pittsburgh Penguins yesterday. Igor Chinokov, the former first round pick of the Blue Jackets, shipped to the Penguins in exchange for Danton Heinen, a second and a third. Now, Hinen was placed on waivers, cleared and then, so probably one. happens there. It's, hey, we'd like this, this Heinen guy, but maybe there's a, you, we could do a little thing here. Chinikov, remember he was the guy
Starting point is 01:06:17 that was drafted by the blue jackets, when old Yarmal Kekyllian, we'd take Igor Chinikov. And no one know who the fuck he was. Everybody was like, our buddy Sam Cousantino was, oh my God, wow. She's the first round. What the hell is happening? No one knew who he was.
Starting point is 01:06:35 Like he's got three goals, three points, six points in whatever it is, 39 games this year. Said in the offseason, I don't like this coach. We don't get along. We don't see eye to eye. I would like to play in another city, please. That's good honesty. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:06:51 So that other city is going to be Pittsburgh. Love Pittsburgh. Rivers and hills. Yeah. So I get the trade for Columbus. Here's a guy that requested a trade to get them out. You get something back, a couple picks. I guess my question for you, Jack, is what are the penguins doing?
Starting point is 01:07:07 I don't know. I thought we were on the downtrend now. So I thought we're going to embrace the full tank and just keep losing. So I don't really know. I don't have an answer. If you can get a. There's still a, I guess he has untapped potential.
Starting point is 01:07:23 I don't know. He's a first round. How old is he? I think he was a 2020 pick. Yeah, there's still some youth there. But I think the luster of being a first round pick has maybe come off a little bit. Yeah, I thought they were stockpiling picks. And here they, that's a second and a third.
Starting point is 01:07:41 And I guess you can only draft so many guys. You take a shot. And they've been playing okay. Are they a playoff team today? They're out right now. They're just a Chinikov away. That's what Pittsburgh said. God, it's so tight.
Starting point is 01:08:01 That's the East. Games in hand for Pittsburgh. Yeah. About a lot of wiggle room. Dean. Can you go back to that there? Okay, so take a look at this. I'm sorry, buddy.
Starting point is 01:08:13 That's one? Yeah, so that's the East. So who's sleeping well at night there? I think Carolina's the only lock. Who's saying, oh, buddy, so we're good. I think Tampa's going to be there. Detroit, as we said yesterday, since McClellan took over on Boxing Day a year ago,
Starting point is 01:08:33 they've been one of the better teams. So maybe they're there. But who would surprise you by not being there? like if Tampa fell out of it with the position. The only team for me is Carolina because they've done it so well. I mean, I guess Tampa Bay has as well. But I don't know.
Starting point is 01:08:47 I just have a different vibe about Carolina accomplishing it. Yeah, like I feel Carolina's there. And then it's more on what they've done recently. It's Florida and Tampa. It just feels like they just get there. They're going to be there. I don't know about Philly. I think Washington will be there even though I picked them in my bowl.
Starting point is 01:09:04 I don't know how the islanders are there. Old predictions too. But again, they're two points out of, they got 46. Yeah. They had 44. Go back to the other one, Jack? Like the sabers are at 44. Yeah. Because the devils,
Starting point is 01:09:21 they would like to have a conversation about getting in there, I'm sure. The Rangers probably still feel like they should be in there. Toronto. And how about the Buffalo Sabres? 4-2 victorious over the St. Los Obloos last night. which runs their current winning streak
Starting point is 01:09:43 to nine games. There it is. And I felt, I loved it. They actually used the meme last night that we reference a lot here on the show. Nine times. Nine times. Nine times. Nine times.
Starting point is 01:10:05 Nine times. Nine times. Nine. There it is. Beautiful. You get it? Nine. Nine times. Good for them.
Starting point is 01:10:21 I'm happy for the Sabres because they've sucked for a real long time. You know what the turnaround was? I think there was a former player that went on their broadcast and had an impassioned plea to the fans to not lose hope,
Starting point is 01:10:34 to stick with it and keep the faith that better times were ahead. See, we're all positive. Yeah. All full of positive. Nothing but positivity. I don't know what else. Yeah, we're full of it.
Starting point is 01:10:50 All of it. All of it. Yeah, we're full of a lot of it. No, they get it done again. And the fans in Buffalo hate Josh Allen, so they need a team to cheer for it. Yeah, all of a sudden, we're done with this guy. And there is, are they in a rebuild? Where are they?
Starting point is 01:11:05 It don't matter. Get in. Yes. Get swept, losing five. It doesn't just get in. Get rid of this 14 years. If they get in, we're going to a game for the, playoff game of Buffalo.
Starting point is 01:11:17 Jack, Gid. Hell yeah. What? Why not? I would like to. That feels like one of those. Why not?
Starting point is 01:11:24 That we would. April and Buffalo? Oh, baby. That place would be rocking. Yeah. Would they do tables and stuff like the bills do? They're 14 years without your GD.
Starting point is 01:11:41 right. Yeah, they would. Did you see Gronk? He was going to dive into a table the other day. Yeah. Well, he's a sharp guy. Mm-hmm. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:11:48 From Buffalo. The Oilers went into Winnipeg and beat the Jets three to one. You don't say. The Jets have packed it in. They are cooked. Is that it? I don't think they're pulling out of this. Which is stupid because we just talked about how tight it is and a couple wins here and now.
Starting point is 01:12:07 But they just feel like they're headed in the wrong direction. Oh, they, yeah. There has to be something going on in Winnipeg. This is not. They should be. much better than this. But they have lost a, they're losing at an incredible rate,
Starting point is 01:12:27 Harry. Last night, they, they actually do out shoot the Oilers, 42 to 21. It was Calvin Pickard. Oh boy, pick 41 saves in the Euler net. Of note, no Andrew Mangapani in the lineup for the Oilers.
Starting point is 01:12:45 He was a healthy scratch. Healthy scratch. And, And the word Elliot Friedman, Mark Specter suggesting that the team and the player and the agent are working at finding a new home. You don't say.
Starting point is 01:13:01 For Andrew, he signed a two-year deal in the off-season. I think it's 3.6 somewhere in that range. So you don't want to play with McDavid or Trison. And I think that he's trying to suggest that he's not playing with those guys. So that's why things aren't working out. but I think the data shows that he actually did play with them for quite a bit at the start of the year and it wasn't a perfect fit.
Starting point is 01:13:29 I feel like the writing is on the wall for Mr. Monjapani. Yeah, it feels like Monjapani would be packing his bags. It was a sharp. This guy's awesome. Felt like it. Play with dry sideles. You know what it's going to be? It's going to be kind of like Hyman Light.
Starting point is 01:13:48 It's maybe not going to be 40. goals, but this guy's, you'd get 25, 30 goals maybe. Has not worked out. And their July 1 stuff has not worked out. They signed Trent Frederick to that eight-year deal. Only eight? Only eight. A couple years for, uh, man.
Starting point is 01:14:04 That's always hard when you sign a big deal team the first year. Is that what it is? Yeah. So just patience is all takes. Okay. We'll let them know. The avalanche win again. They're boring.
Starting point is 01:14:16 Five two. They defeat the. L.A. Kings, McKinnon, a goal, and an assist. And yes, it is, it's comedy. 16, 0, and 2 at home, they have lost twice in regulation in 38 games. They play 82 regular season games. Half of that, I believe, is 41. So the Avalanche have played 38.
Starting point is 01:14:48 39, 40, 41. to be at the, basically, the midway point of the season and have lost a couple times. They've given up 11 points, Dean. Yeah. It's an 11 game point streak. And if you're the GM, what are you adding to this team? I don't know if you do anything. Just going to sit back and watch.
Starting point is 01:15:15 I don't know that I would be. Just enjoy the show. See, that's what we want. We don't hate the team. we don't hate the flames. How do you guys? Wouldn't it be nice to be a powerhouse? To be one of those teams where they take to the ice,
Starting point is 01:15:33 it's like, well, we're in a dog fight tonight. This is, we're going to, there's a chance. If we're not good, we're going to get our asses handed to us. Because these flames are,
Starting point is 01:15:43 they mean business every single night. They're here to play. Have you seen that guy they got leading the league and scoring? Jeez. Unbelievable. They have 400 point players. Yeah. Nashville.
Starting point is 01:15:55 No, 4-3 win over the Utah mammoth. The Preds have been playing better. They're ahead of the flames. Do you think there's a highly successful YouTube podcast in Nashville where they're winning games and those guys are sitting there bitching and moaning all the time? God damn it. It's a frigging mammoth. Like, okay, all right, yeah, you guys are great.
Starting point is 01:16:21 Stamco's old. Marsha So's an old. Come on. Try to do it. Do you. Head out of here. Soros and eight years. What are we doing?
Starting point is 01:16:28 the Preds. 7 and 3 in their last 10. 3 points back of San Jose for the final wild card. There's a lot of those teams that have that same thing. Minnesota, they beat Vegas 5 to 2. It's a bit of a slide for the Golden Knights. A bit of a statement for the wild again.
Starting point is 01:16:50 Wild you're a good team. The sharks 5-4 win over the ducks. The ducks came back in that game, but the shots here, 42-13 Sharks. Sorry for the ducks. So that
Starting point is 01:17:06 Sharks goal is Ascarov Sellebrini does it again. Goal and two assists. Ascarov 38 saves. It's an eight straight? Yeah, it's bananas, man.
Starting point is 01:17:21 See that? We're supposed to get excited about Coleman and Beckley. Oh, poor call. Yeah, Celebrity. 60 points in 39 games, 21 goals. Well, we have a 60 point player. Not a chance.
Starting point is 01:17:43 Not a chance. Cadry? We trade for one. Godry. Codry's got 31 points. So he's on pace for, I'll still say no. Okay. So negative.
Starting point is 01:17:59 Why do you have to be so negative? No, we're a committee group. We're winning. Yeah, committee team. The Vancouver Canucks. They beat the Seattle Cracken. These Cracken stink. In a shootout by a score of three to two.
Starting point is 01:18:13 Liam Ogren. What's this stupid arena called? Climate Change Arena or something? Yeah, climate pledge. That's a weird one. It's probably nice, though. We should go. I heard it's an awesome.
Starting point is 01:18:25 When we're in Buffalo, we should stop by Seattle. Yeah, maybe Buffalo, Seattle, fine. Yeah, Liam Ogren, who was in that Quinn Hughes deal, gets the shootout winner. That deal's worked out just fine for Vancouver. so far the zy boyle i think it's a good deal they did damn fine the situation they were in they did they did damn fine boiom's gonna be good i'm well leum old graham and they got a pick so they got a good pick and that's fine so that was the uh that was a scoop there a couple tilts last night oh putting up the dukes yeah putting up the old dukes some heavyweights going at it uh i don't
Starting point is 01:19:09 I think we got it there, Jackie Boy, right? A couple scraps from last night. I love a good Christmas scrap. It's possible. It's not there because Doug had issues at the old... So you don't know how to put it in a folder either? No, I think I put it in the folder. You don't know how to...
Starting point is 01:19:25 Well, it's not in the folder. Where's the folder? I thought I put it in the folder. You impender should work. I definitely edited it this morning. Not in the folder. I can grab it quick. Fuck it.
Starting point is 01:19:35 Fuck it. No. Do you want me to pull it up my phone? and just hold it up. No, I mean, we could get it, but it's like, who fought? It's just kind of going through in my head the hours of work that I did between last night and this morning for fucking none of it to be here today.
Starting point is 01:19:56 It's good. Now, you were going to print that? No, the printing wasn't working, I guess, just edit shit, and then it doesn't, don't put it in the folder for sure. Christ. What if you find it and then you have to yell. No, it's not there. For sure, it's not there.
Starting point is 01:20:13 In fairness, it was, I mean, I just thought. Who fought? Elsewhere. Football last night. Bejohn Robinson's really good. Bejohn Robinson, two touchdowns. Two, like, went off, had a, what, 95-yard rushing touchdown in the first quarter. The Rams, I guess they don't, yes, whatever.
Starting point is 01:20:39 We're a good team. We don't need to worry about the Falcons. We're going to be just fine. But then the Rams did come back. And hang on. A Zane Gonzalez's field goal late gives the Falcons a 27-24 win. That's back-to-back losses for the Rams. Didn't they lose to Seattle?
Starting point is 01:20:58 Yeah, it's two to row. I think they are locked into the sixth seed now. Jeez, that's not. They were kind of the... They were the one seed forever. They were the best team in the NFL. Toasted the town. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:21:16 Top of the table, Tommy. Now they might just be toast. Hope not. I'm okay with anything in L.A. going sideways. Yeah, sure. I was thinking, Jack. This is a side conversation. Sunday night football coming up
Starting point is 01:21:31 is the Steelers and Ravens for the division title and making the playoffs and all that. This feels like something we should do together, like stream or something for it. I'd be down. It might be the most. boring game in the world, but... Which is why I think if we could ride
Starting point is 01:21:51 your emotional roller coaster with you, and I'll be... Again, earmuffs, I guess. Are the flames playing? I don't know. Not that it matters, I just... Because I was just thinking for just pure entertainment,
Starting point is 01:22:11 watching him struggle would be the entertainment there. If the Steelers go and roll to win... And he's... Doing a bunch of this stuff. I'd sponsor the Jack Cam myself. Yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 01:22:24 All right. Give it some thought. Yeah, I'll be down. Maybe we'll come in here, get some food brought in, have some drinks, some temples, and watch Jack just sweat it.
Starting point is 01:22:37 And that is the fourth? Yeah, this Sunday. Sunday. Nice. What's your vibe for it as you sit here now? Confidence level, your thoughts. Confidence level is very low.
Starting point is 01:22:52 The offense is just not the same without DK. And I'm still pissed at that fan that got him all wound up and punched him. I don't know. So stupid. Yeah, I'm not feeling very confident at all. I kind of hope Lamar plays for the Ravens. He sucks against the Steelers. If it's Huntley, they're just going to hand it off a million times and Henry's just going to destroy us.
Starting point is 01:23:14 Bestie in the league, I thought. Not against Henry. No. Curt. No curtain. So with the D.K. Metcalf situation, that's kind of what you're referring to. Yes. Sounds a little bit like blaming the victim.
Starting point is 01:23:33 So what you're saying is the guy that got punched by Metcalf. Yes, but apparently, this guy has had multiple altercations with D.K. in the past. Like he has gotten him kicked out of previous football games when he was on Seattle. I feel like if an athlete gets to the point where he's taken a swing, you've said something. Yeah. Offside. It's odd because I was saying, yeah, I'm not going to bring it up. No.
Starting point is 01:24:04 Probably could. It's just a podcast. Now I've got things to do. Got all kinds of time. Yeah, they don't stand a chance without him. They're throwing to Thielen, Marquez Velde, Scalding, and Scotty Miller. Why were they going to? The Scanling?
Starting point is 01:24:18 MBS. Rogers is just straight. Let's just run a fade to MBS three times in a row. No idea. It's not great. So, oh, Canada,
Starting point is 01:24:30 World Juniors, big win. They hammered the Danes. What, 9 to 1? All right. Nine. I need a better setup. That's all I got, though. Yeah, good for Canada.
Starting point is 01:24:46 Let a bounce back. That's awesome. They got the Finns tomorrow with a chance to win their group, Group B, win that son of a gun. Are the fins any good? I think there are a point back.
Starting point is 01:25:03 Don't sleep in the fins. No, he can't. That's my recommendation. That'd be my advice. Don't do it if you get all sassy, hot and cocky. They might just come and nip you're right in the bud. It hasn't drawn me in.
Starting point is 01:25:20 It will. Maybe it's because I go to the Circle K so much. You're going to the Circle K. Watch so much damn hawk at Circle K. You're thinking about ski hills and in-laws. Yeah. Having a great time. It's just kind of... What a halt that came to.
Starting point is 01:25:39 It does kind of feel like maybe we need to rev something. I feel like we said that, though. That was bound to happen. Oh, for sure it is. Yeah. We're going to have to find some sort of energy. We're in the doldrums. Yeah. Maybe the Sunday night or will be our...
Starting point is 01:25:55 Spark. Yeah. The spark that we need? Uh-huh. don't mind that. I'm going to say that's it for the pin. Oh, for sure it is. That was long.
Starting point is 01:26:07 I got to say that's it. T.J. Watt may return for AFC North title game. Does he play offense? It's not enough, eh? It's never enough for you, yeah. Negative. Get one of the best defensive players in the world back. It's like, oh, could you catch a touchdown?
Starting point is 01:26:26 He probably could if they would play him. His brother was good at that. Yeah, his brother was real good. Yeah. Gosh. That's a bit of report brought to you by Village Honda. End of the year, pre-owned clearout is on. All makes all models all need to move.
Starting point is 01:26:44 That's the thing about having a dealership and you've got, there's just a certain, there's a finite amount of space. And they are dedicated. We've been talking about it for years. They're buying your used vehicles, buying pre-owned vehicles. They want to have that lot jammed. But sometimes you get to the end of the year. You've got the next year's new models coming in.
Starting point is 01:27:03 So you're moving cars around. It's like, we've got to make some room. That's what Anthony and everybody's doing right now, trying to make some room. And you could be the benefactor of a great deal on a pre-owned vehicle now at Village Honda, located in the Northwest Automall. Across the street, there was a little parking lot. As sign went up earlier this week, sorry, this lot is no longer going to be a parking lot, which is great because there's just, I mean, there's too much parking.
Starting point is 01:27:38 But what they had done, is of course it was a pay to park kind of thing. So they had put, they had one of those pay machines where you go and do the thing. And when I was coming in today, there were two guys over there from the transit authority or something.
Starting point is 01:27:54 Clearly their job was to remove this concrete slab that the thing had been bolted to. So the machine's gone. And now it was just a concrete pad and four things. And it looked like there had been some digging and chisling. Yep. Always. Perhaps the ground is frozen because it didn't seem like they were getting very far with hand tools.
Starting point is 01:28:15 Plus five. So then there was a chain wrapped around it. Now, again, the pad is only about this high. So they've got the chain around there. It looked like maybe they tried with the truck to pull it, but it was maybe sliding off. There was a lot of this going on. Well, that's what a college education will get you. There's a lot of that.
Starting point is 01:28:41 There's a lot of that going on. I wonder, Jack, take a quick peek. I was thinking maybe we could help them after the show. Go over there and lend our expertise. You love digging. Do you see them over there? Or did they finally get it figured out? Because it looked like they were in a,
Starting point is 01:28:59 they were in a bit of a pickle earlier. Call it in the concrete. Reenforcement. Concrete was winning when, when I came across, what an hour and change ago, I suppose. They're gone now. Is the concrete gone?
Starting point is 01:29:13 Yeah. Good job, boys. See? That's what you need. Trust the city. Job Finch. Nice job, Ninchie. Well done. Let's take a look at our Bet365, bets for the evening. With Team Canada,
Starting point is 01:29:35 rosters being announced tomorrow. Okay. I'm going with a little Canada, just a little Canada vibes and whatever you want to call it. Oleg, Oleg, Oleg. Well, whatever. It's just karma, good vibes, positivity. Tonight, the Habs play the Panthers.
Starting point is 01:29:52 Sam Reinhardt, I believe, had three points last night. Marchand had two or, yeah, a goal for sure. And Sidney Crosby, he's one of the best in the world. Reinhardt, Marchand, Crosby, all to get one point tonight in their respective games, plus 2.15. Sid's got that new winger. That's right. He's got, well, if it's not Brazzers, it's Chinikov.
Starting point is 01:30:16 Options. Penguins. make it a charge. Canes are tough team. But I'm just saying, get some points here on the eve of the Team Canada announcement. Feels like a good bet for a plus
Starting point is 01:30:27 215 right there. You can do it and you can do whatever you want. You know what else is great? I'd have to throw a Suzuki in there. You can do that. He was available. He was absolutely available. You know what season we're getting into,
Starting point is 01:30:41 Red? And I know you love it. It's bowl season. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. We got lots of Bulls. Tennessee. Oh, this one's already started.
Starting point is 01:30:52 Is this one started? Because a lot of it comes down to teams I have never heard of before. I don't know who these guys are. This is fantastic. There's USCU. So you like the teams that you don't know anything about. Well, not necessarily. I'm just kind of saying.
Starting point is 01:31:13 College football. Got the college football. off, Ole Miss, Georgia, Alabama, Indiana. Bama. Bama. Roll-tide, buddy. Miami, Florida.
Starting point is 01:31:25 Got World Junior stuff here going. The double IHF World Junior Championships. Florida State, North Carolina. Do you like Seton Hall or Marquette? It's a basketball. That's the thing we tell you. They've got all kinds of all the market. It's all there for you.
Starting point is 01:31:44 If you're saying, man, I need me some Gonzaga. Well, they're 28.5 point favorites at San Diego. It's a big number, but it's there if you want it. It's a big number. It's a big number. Big number. There you go. Bet 365.
Starting point is 01:32:00 That is what's going on. On the best app in the world and the best gaming partner going, bet 365. We'll do some of this. We're going to get yelled at for being negative. Probably. And you know what? I feel like we deserve it. Now, there was a bit of a tone and tenor when we came in.
Starting point is 01:32:17 things weren't, Greg, I mean, I feel like we, we think we were good for a bit, and then we kind of got talking about the flames. Yeah. Yeah. There is a G-Fount. Hey, Rhett, how was being drafted at the top of the second round, and where did you think you were going pre-draft, cheers? Ooh, pre-draft, I had no clue, but I did not want to go to the second round, I'll tell you.
Starting point is 01:32:44 So I was sitting damn near in tears going, huh, I see. suck. They only showed the first round on TV. Sure. So. But then it was Florida. I'm like, ooh. That's all right.
Starting point is 01:33:00 Were you at the draft? Hartford. What a dump. Yeah. Hartford. Yeah. The great city of Hartford got to party. Now, you were kind of...
Starting point is 01:33:13 I also plummeted in the draft. Yeah. It's probably not going to spin your mood the right way, but you were, yeah, that entire year, you were very much. No. The year before, I was very
Starting point is 01:33:30 good as a rookie in junior. And I was rated decently high. Then I ate nachos. Much of Japan. If only someone would have told you, don't eat on Mondays. Yeah. Right?
Starting point is 01:33:47 You know what else is odd? When you offer advice, from a career as a father to your children, they really pick up on it. Yeah, they love to take that to heart. Oh, yeah. Thank you, dad.
Starting point is 01:33:59 You really know what you're talking? Given your life experience, that must be some sound advice that you're sharing. Yeah, it's much the same at my house. I didn't know where I was going. I'll be honest about that. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:34:11 I was worried that it was the Rangers at Detroit. I'm like, Boston. And I'm like, well, I'm not going to take Sweeney and Borkspot. Yeah. I'm going to be playing in the American League forever at this rate. Well, there you go. Handsome Dan is in. Two goals, 20 bucks.
Starting point is 01:34:30 What do you even say now? Are we forever doomed to the mucky middle? Lucky. I know he's, I'm trying it. Man, if we could figure out a way to get McKenna, that would be great. He and Perak looked good on that goal at the WJC.
Starting point is 01:34:44 Not sure how to swing that, though. It's going to be tough, Dan. Yeah, handsome Dan. It's kind of been the topic of this show. But Backlin Perrek? Hmm? Jack? Backlin Perck?
Starting point is 01:35:03 Could be Backlin Perck sooner than you think, depending on, yeah. Why not? No need to dream. Thank you, handsome, Dan. How's that guy looked at McKenna? He was really good yesterday. Hatrick, yeah. Robbie Anderson.
Starting point is 01:35:23 didn't he play for the Panthers? Now he's what, Robbie chosen? Yeah. 2799. Big one. Bam! They would be in a playoff spot if they didn't lose to the sharks. From someone with a half-ass level of hockey played,
Starting point is 01:35:43 they got guys starting to have the bounce back season. You guys said that they need to be competitive. Do you guys say that? Well, I think a while back. I think what it was was that if you were subscribing to the theory, you could point to some, could Zeri be one of those guys?
Starting point is 01:36:06 If everyone that played really good last year, plays good again this year, plus you get the young guys to do a little bit more. How do you, how do you, correct, surpass what you accomplished a year ago? And there would be.
Starting point is 01:36:19 You would think, even though we had whatever it was, 17 goals, Sharon Govich can be better. You could expect more out of Zeri. They're probably going to be a little bit more from Coronado. Maybe not from Coleman because he had a great year. But here we are.
Starting point is 01:36:32 So yeah, I mean, it's Robbie Anderson, 3927. If they didn't lose to the sharks. Well, yeah, and if they didn't beat Vegas. I mean, I understand what you're saying. I'm not trying to. Sharks are a playoff. That's because they're in the last playoff spot there. Not wrong.
Starting point is 01:36:53 Not wrong. No more? That is it. That is all. Big one to end on. That is it. That's all. Yeah,
Starting point is 01:37:02 big, nice little, nice little tidy day for the youth centers. If, if you don't mind tomorrow, Dean, put together your best
Starting point is 01:37:09 New Year's ever program. Right. That'll bring some positivity, some energy. New Year's thing is, it's not my thing. You love getting dressed up in the town.
Starting point is 01:37:21 No. Oh. Put your top hat on. No. It's one of those things, it gets to be a struggle to stay up. It's like, I just,
Starting point is 01:37:30 I just want to go to bed. Oh, I'm going to crush it. Are you? Oh, yeah. Yeah. I feel like the Flames have a home New Year's game every single year. I believe they do. Do I think?
Starting point is 01:37:45 Yeah. They make it a big to-do. They have champagne. They have fireworks. I think they have an after party. Yeah. Players used to attend the after party. Calgaryflames.com.
Starting point is 01:37:56 Go and check it out. Tickets available for the big New Year's Eve bash. So if you don't have plans, now you do. You're going to the game. Come on, Jack. Ah, you've got to work. Yeah, I don't work. Sorry, buddy.
Starting point is 01:38:10 Sorry, Jack. Oh, that's fine. I should probably just stay home, to be honest. Yeah, the way you act. Yeah. And then the fallout. It's heavy. Middle of the week, too.
Starting point is 01:38:21 Tough one here now. But we're going to work Friday, eh? It's tomorrow of the holidays. How was the show, Jack? Tough one. Tough question. Tough one. I know it puts you in a bad squad.
Starting point is 01:38:37 I think you guys had some good conversations. It tailed off. It tailed off. How's that? I thought it was going to be significantly worse than what we ended up doing. Really? Worse than what we just did. The first half was good.
Starting point is 01:38:56 We had nice conversation. It was good. Then the Pinder Report. That's such fault. It's not my fault, I guess. Anyway. tomorrow Jamie McClend will come in to save us with any luck perhaps find out what his Christmas holidays were like does he go out on New Year's the Senators play tomorrow
Starting point is 01:39:16 should probably check that out it might be he might be getting loaded you know what I mean he's probably that kind of guy so yeah we got a big show tomorrow and it'll be a game day it's the Flyers it's New Year's Eve wouldn't want to miss it nowhere else we'd rather be than right here with all you guys so we'll do that so we're going to do tomorrow See you buddies.
