Good day, sports fans.
Welcome to another edition of Barn, Burner, Boomer Pinder, and Warner here on another snowy day.
It's not given up.
Persistent.
Old Mother Nature.
She's about a third of a centimeter to a centimeter every hour, nonstop until the end of time.
Yeah.
Is it still the same out there or not quite as bad, Josh Allen?
It's not.
It's windy.
which makes it cold because it's a wet cold here.
It's not a dry cold.
It's not a dry cold.
It's a wet cold.
So it really gets into your bones.
Yeah.
No more snow.
Okay.
Right into the marrow.
This is like snow globe stuff here,
do you know?
Like it's just soft floating tiny flakes all day.
When I actually have to leave the house today.
What?
God damn it.
No.
yeah i gotta leave the house oh well listen enough complaining all right you got uh parent teacher
interviews tonight like i do it's something along those lines i need to get a kid and then take
them somewhere and then take another kid that got just you know kids today so desensitized
from movies and television uh it is not a flames game day still no but yet today
big flames news ah which is just
down the pipe.
Not good news.
No.
Not necessarily.
Not good news.
No,
not at all.
But news,
nonetheless,
as the flames have announced
that Dan Bladar
will be having season
ending hip surgery.
How are your hips,
Rhett?
My hips are the shits right now.
My whole,
my whole girdle is out.
Your trunk?
My girdle.
Your core,
everything?
You have some longer to do?
What are you saying here?
My,
my,
my obliques.
Yeah.
My triads.
Yeah.
That's a shame or something.
My trifectas.
Yeah.
Everything.
Yeah.
My fact is.
Superfectus.
Everything's just out of whack.
Well, and we've been seeing Wolf.
We've not seen a lot of Dan Bladar as no.
And this was one of the things.
We want to see more of these.
See the other goalies.
If Markstrom's not going to play see other goalies, it feels like we're not going to see Dan
Fadar.
And maybe we need to take some stuff back.
Because we were kind of.
of skeptical as to maybe the nature of the injury around Dan Vlodar when he was
But was that a lower body one?
He was backing up one night and then he's on the injured reserve list the next night.
So this is the same thing you're suggesting.
No, I'm just wondering if we need to take it back.
Because I think we kind of suggested that, well, Wolf flew out to New Jersey because
you had to do New Jersey deal possibly done.
And then that is true.
Why did you let a hurt guy back up?
I don't know.
You know me.
I just want to be fair.
Yeah, that's true.
I just don't want to be accused of being a jerk.
If we've been unfair to anyone, we take it back.
And especially to Dan.
I don't think shit back.
What's he done to anybody?
I'm sticking to my guns.
I think he's faking it.
All right.
Disco Dan.
Faker.
And you mentioned something.
So again, tease and peas, Dan.
I don't think it's ever good to have hip surgery.
But maybe it'll,
I'd like to
clean things
all surgeries
if all things are equal.
Yeah.
I remember I was watching
one of those things
where they do things
on the TV documentary
kind of a thing,
kind of one of those things.
And The Undertaker
Oh,
had bad hips.
And he said actually on the day,
the same day that he had the hip,
it wasn't a replacement,
but he went in and cleaned some up,
whatever.
He said instantly the same day
as surgery, they get you up and moving around.
And he said it already felt better than how he had been dealing with it for the
whatever year and change prior.
So we're hoping, I would say as a group, the three of us and Jack, I suppose,
the four of us and, okay, and RJ, the five of us,
hope that's the case for Dan Vladar,
that you are up and moving around soon and that it feels great and whatever discomfort
that you're dealing with on a daily basis is gone.
I hope he's dancing tonight, ballroom dancing with his wonderful partner.
It's only one surgery AeroLant.
That's the Neurilink.
I got to get dialed in here.
Yeah.
So you don't want emails in your phone, but you want a computer in your head.
Is that what it is?
I would have such witty comebacks like right there.
If I had a neuromats.
I would have zung you right there.
You're a loser.
We all know this.
Ha,
ha.
Could you imagine?
Then I could just get an AI version of myself to sit in the shitty chair in the
shitty room.
And it just.
With your shitty hip.
Yeah.
Dance.
You could be in Panama getting stem cells injected to you while your AI guys doing the show.
100%.
Now, in, I guess on the more serious nature, Ryan, you had said before we got started on the
scintillating pre-show.
God, the pre-show is good.
We should charge.
We're going to come up with something for all you folks out there that are interested.
We're going to come up with something.
Take you behind.
We had wardrobe changes, all kinds of scintillating conversation,
racy behavior.
Anyway, it's not available.
You had said that
can't really trade a hurt guy.
So if there was any appetite
to make a Dan Bladar move in the offseason.
Well, I think there's been an appetite
for a Dan Bladar move for multiple
off seasons already. And you have three
goleys that are NHL caliber goalies.
How good they each are depends on
when we ask the question, what year it is,
and how people view the players.
But this would be the offseason.
You've now seen Wolf.
this would be the year to do it.
So arriving at my point.
Well, but you started by saying they want to trade him every offseason.
It's not about it, him every offseason.
It's just that this is finally the time.
And now he's got to.
Can both be true.
He's got, he's got surgery.
No, I'm sorry.
I'm just trying to give context.
I think there's one year left on his deal.
It would be a nice summer to move him if you're not going to move Jacob Markstrom.
And to have the option to move Vladar and Markstrom would allow you to sort of gauge the market and say,
okay, where are we getting the best deal?
Where do we, if you really want the mentor for Wolf,
okay, we'll keep Marksham, we'll move Ladar.
Ah, the deals are a little soft of Lodom,
maybe we move Markstrom, whatever it is.
One of those is off the table.
No one wants to add a guy coming off hip surgery
that hasn't played.
Nobody wanted to add.
And that's what he's going to be this summer.
He's going to be an asset coming off surgery
that people have questions about.
Just let him go.
I don't know that anyone wanted to add him anyway.
Mike, I'm going to actually double back on you there.
I'm going to spin this around and how right back.
in your face.
Now it's the season you want them to get healthy and be your backup next year.
Yeah, which is probably how this thing shakes out, right?
I don't think you want to trade them because you can't trade them.
And the other two, you're going to keep Wolf and I think the other guy's going to wait
bye by-bye.
Yeah, it's a shitty-
Let's go into detail there, Red.
How do you see this?
So you, do you think it's a?
I think it, I brought it up.
I forget who was one of our insiders.
I brought it up last week.
have been drager when you weren't on i actually said that to it i said is there a chance you know
if they're keeping markstrom and they've got huberdow and they've got cadry and they've got back
let's have got coleman is there any chance and i said it in reverse in reference to
bole and byram i think they should have got bole and byron and if they had got bole and byram i think
you're immediately back into a let's stack the shelves and go
and go for it again.
Because you're old, you've got a
really good goaltender, and
you're not going to be bad enough to drop
out of it. And if you'd
have got Byram, you'd have a top three,
you'd have three really
young, good defensemen.
You'd have a top four. Because she had, Chillington would be
your three. That's what you're getting us. Thank you.
Without Byron, it
kind of changes things because I think you're short
on the D side. But is
there any chance that you keep
Markstrom, Wolf moves up,
he learns under Markstrom, he plays 25 games or whatever rest Markstrom needs, 30 games.
And they go for it again.
Because of all that stuff, they'll have cap space.
You can move them on Jopani.
You've had a bunch of young kids come up that have been good.
You know who it would be like?
Philly.
Philly's supposed to be shit.
Nashville too.
Yeah.
Yeah, Nashville.
Philly, they're supposed to be shit.
They're going to make playoffs.
Can you do that?
I don't know, kind of went on a tangent.
I have no idea if I answered your question.
Well, it just talks about moving Vladar keeping Markstrom, right?
Yeah.
I was, I was wondering because you had said you needed Bladar to be your backup.
I guess you're insinuating that Wolf would also be here and that Markstrom wants out or would.
I'm saying that I wonder if that, sorry.
Yeah, that's the answer I needed to finish with is.
I think what's that thing you're going to get in your head that'll make it.
The narrow.
Neuro.
Yeah, it'll clear the same.
Right up.
That's why I got to get it.
Straight and really well thought out.
Stay tuned.
Yeah.
Technology.
It'll be so well thought out and delivered.
You'll understand what I'm saying.
Yeah.
But I think there's two scenarios.
Conroy's got to,
I think they probably leaning towards the other one,
just trade Markstrom and keep the rebuild kind of thing going.
But if you can't get real return,
maybe that other option is available.
But ideally, I think Bladar and Wolf are your, I mean,
but isn't that a shitty thing to say?
Because I don't think LeVladar and Wolf were taking it to the playoffs.
Yeah, but like if you're not going to make the playoffs next year,
that doesn't mean this hasn't worked.
That would be a bonus to make it next year.
What you're really trying to do is develop players
and collect more young assets next year, right?
Yep.
But I think you're right.
The two outcomes are Wolf with.
Markstrom in a tandem or Wolf Vodar in a tandem.
What you can't have is Wolf in the American League again.
Wolf's freaking the fuck out if he sent him.
You think you're going to send him to the minors again?
He's like, I'm out of here.
It's just time.
Like what more can he prove there?
Nothing.
We need to figure out what he is at the NHL level.
We know what he is at the American League level.
And so with Bladar's injury,
Dino, it limits a little bit of what, you know,
potential moves you might have.
I don't think it's easy to move a guy coming off hip surgery
until he proves that he can be back to the lovely was.
And to be fair, we still have a tough time telling everyone what Dan Blodar is.
He's been here three years.
Like, I don't know.
He battles.
There's some soft goals.
Sometimes he looks great.
And to the point, you would come into camp next year.
And that's the word is, and that's what they're hoping, that he'll be on track to be ready for the start of the season.
If it's status quo, if Markstrom is still aflame and those three guys come in, then Vlodar is put on waivers for the purposes of going down.
Coming off that injury, yeah.
If he's picked up off of injury,
okay, he's a $2 million goalie.
If somebody wants him with one year left,
it's probably more of a likelihood,
but I don't know if it is because he'd be coming off hip surgery.
So, but I'm with you.
You can't send Wolf down again.
No, it's time.
And look, Markstrom's going to control a lot of this.
If he wants to play nice,
Connie can probably get a haul.
If he wants to be difficult,
that could really limit what you get in the Markstrom trade.
If he keys in and says,
this is the one team I want to go to,
and that team knows it, there goes your leverage.
And he's got that right.
He negotiated the no move.
He could also be the, hey, I've enjoyed my time here.
Thanks, Connie, you've treated me well.
My issues with upper management weren't with you.
They were north of you on the org chart.
You let me know what works best for the team.
Run some markets by me and I'll let you know.
We don't know which of those outcomes it's going to be.
We hope it's a deal that's not like, okay, here's a pick.
And here's another one, conditional,
if we win nine rounds in the playoffs.
If we win nine rounds, you'll get a second.
Nine rounds, wow.
And if we don't win nine rounds, you get nothing.
And here's a player that you need to for sure Google.
Yeah.
And go five or six deep on our prospect chart to find.
Yeah, what you'd want is a very good pick and or a very good young player,
like the Alexander Holtz kid whose name's been floating around out of Jersey.
I don't know that Jersey is shopping for a goal anymore when you bring in Jake Allen.
It would be good if we had someone that was really good at researching and going and looking at like Boen Byron types of traits.
Yeah.
There aren't a bunch of them.
You know what's weird, right?
They're just, goalies don't move much, right?
I just, I'm sorry, I'm not so much stuck on the, the goaltender moves.
But bear with me again, because I've had a lot.
I did, I took some pills, the focus they're called.
Maybe it was too much.
I don't know.
Crazy pills.
Too much focus.
Yeah, I'm ultra focus.
You're too sharp.
It's too much.
Too many, Trev.
They have got all these picks.
Well, we don't know what the hell they're going to be.
Yeah.
The Kedgenus mentioned Holtz.
Do you feel better about him or do you feel better about a,
I'm just pulling the number of 23rd overall pick in the first round?
It's a great question.
Yeah.
You'd have to be really, really way up in front office to figure that one out, right?
Right.
Like, my draft year is.
Is it?
Where do we need the kid?
Because there would be teams that don't have room for a kid that might be really good
that would prefer the pick because I need this two years out.
I'm stacked up right now.
I can't get him in even if he's really good, Bowen Byron.
Like, are you better off, is Conroy better off trying to assess that and target those types of assets?
I think the good thing about the spot to Craig's in is that both of those could work for him.
You could take a first rounder in 2026 like you did with Vegas that's unprotected.
We don't know where that pick is.
It might be a horseshit pick.
It might be a lottery ball pick.
Who knows?
Or you could take a player that's 20 and that's like just, you know, on the cusp of needing waivers
and this contender caliber team just can't squeeze them in the lineup.
both of those things could work for Craig Conroy.
He's got tap space.
He's got some roster flexibility.
And I don't think there's a hard,
we have to make the playoffs next year so much as,
as long as this team's competitive when that new rink opens,
I think that's where everyone's in lockstep.
How we get there, I'm not quite sure.
I agree that it would be a nice touch.
I don't think, I'm not circling anything,
because I don't know when this rink's going to be finished and built
and you can project this.
Fall 27 is a pretty safe bet at this point.
There's even some like hockey Canada.
I just think it's really difficult to try fall of 27 is okay,
we're going to strip it down, but by fall of 27,
God damn, we'll be back and we'll be deadly, right?
Like it just doesn't.
And I'm okay with stripping it down.
I'm just saying it's, if it can coincide, wonderful.
But yeah, I don't think that that should be the over.
I think that's bonus.
Yes.
If, if they're in a, if they're in a good spot.
by the time the rink opens, then that's great.
Totally. And that's a quick turnaround. If they have it.
But you don't ever, I don't think you ever want to be
terrible for any amount of time.
I mean, gosh, I think we can all agree.
The quicker you turn things around,
the better it is. And,
and who knows? Like the Holtz kid scored his 15th
of the season. He's seventh overall
from 2020. He's hardly getting
ice time on the power play. He's way down the depth
chart in terms of minutes. Like, that's a guy that's
blocked because of all the great young forwards New Jersey
has. That's a guy they should be keying in on.
for as an example of the type of player that would flourish here and maybe be
you know blocked as I said elsewhere what you don't need more of is the Kuzmenko's where it's like
I'm one year away from free agency and I'm 27 it's like not liking how my buddy
kuzminkov is rolling here let's get going score some goals buddy yeah there's some skill there
uh the rest a lot of question marks
is he too oldzy
man, he scored 39 as a rookie.
Like, how many guys have done that in this league?
Like very, very few in our lives.
Like, it's nuts.
And so why would that guy be expendable?
Well, there's warts.
Yeah.
That's just the way it is.
If Rick Tocke doesn't want a guy that scored 39 as a rookie,
there's got to be something going on there.
Yeah, not ideal.
Not ideal.
Sure isn't, Dean.
Frank's every other going to join us coming up in.
Speaking of Connie.
He and Frank chatted in Florida at the GM meetings.
And Frank's got a new article up today.
So we can ask him about that as a lot of what we just talked about is kind of referenced by Frank in there.
After this five UFAs have been traded, one has been re-signed.
And we assume another will be resigned in the form of Oliver Shillington.
It's been, he's only nine months on the job, Connie.
But it feels like he's done a couple years worth of transactions.
Yeah.
And yeah, we'll have Frank in a matter of moments.
but he also kind of gets into,
there's the summer plans,
who are you trading?
Are you trademarks from what are you doing there?
But also, you are,
for the first time and a long time,
we're going to have some cap space.
You're going to have some money to spend.
Now, we know what the old GM would do
without cap space.
I think so.
Yeah, you could take a gas anyway.
Get some fucking lighter fluid
and immediately set it on fire.
Right.

Our insider from Daily Faceoff, he is back in the city of Brotherly Love after he's got a lot
of sun.
I saw a week on the beach with Frank Sarajevoly.
He was out beaching last week.
Nice glow.
Down in FLA.
You can see the backwards hat tan that I have right here.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Looks more red on the top than the bottom.
I know.
You got to have, you can't get, can't get your neck burnt when you're sitting at the
swim up bar. Is that right?
Yeah. It's a good spot.
Swim up bar. Damn. Well, I have a little
something here and we'll play it because it was 20 years ago
today. I saw some history in the city of Philadelphia.
I'm wondering if this was a sad kind of moment.
And also, this was taken off of live television.
You can go ahead, Jack.
We are approximately live TV.
30 seconds away from the actual implosion.
Here's a live shot from Chopper 6.
As we take a look at the situation up high.
Here's the final countdown.
Two, fire, fire!
And there it goes.
So in the background, you can see, that's the old spectrum.
The Wells Fargo Center, or whatever it would have been at the time,
is fairly new and in the distant background.
But veterans, veterans, it's coming down.
I'll get your thoughts in a moment, but again, live television.
You never know what can happen.
ladies and gentlemen at 701 on this sunday morning we can officially say veteran stadium is no
so there it is was that uh a sad day were you sad to see that one go to the ground no it's actually
like when you asked the first thing i thought was my god that place was a dump and so when that guy
was saying bleep you i'm like yeah i mean sounds about right that's that was kind of everyone's
feeling was like it was a
nondescript.
Like the, the environment was always good,
but that was because the fans.
But for the most part,
whether it was baseball or football,
it was an absolute toilet.
And I don't miss it.
And the environment has carried on
into the new places,
which by the way,
are 20 years old and not exactly new anymore.
It's amazing how fast stadiums become,
they're not dated in any way
because they've kept up with them.
But the useful life of an
arena now is like 30 years.
These like these places are well into their,
their tenure and you know,
Rhett, look at the Sabres.
I mean, that,
that was the same era as,
as the Flyers.
And it's one of the worst in the league now in Buffalo.
Yeah, it was my rookie year.
My rookie year, we played the last NHL game in the spectrum.
So it is exactly the same.
I was at that game.
Yeah.
Well, I see the old,
the old Reds.
See, we have a difference of PINN up north here in Buffalo, but in Calgary.
The folks in Alberta, like we like to hang on to stuff.
Like the Saddle Dome, there is no need to upgrade.
I love it.
I can't even explain how bad the Dome is.
Like, if you're just to attend NHL games in Calgary and, I mean, obviously you can see a difference,
but it is a straight up time warp back to the 80s.
Yeah.
And it is functional, but it ain't pretty.
Cinderblock mess.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I think they found a bronze medal from the 88 Olympics the other day.
It was in the back by the Zamboni room.
It's like, well, somebody left it here, I guess.
When was the Olympics?
88A.
I'm really excited for the new arena in Calgary.
I know our intrepid reporter Ryan Pike has been all over it.
Yeah.
But I just think it's going to totally change the viewpoint of players thinking about
and potentially considering the market.
I know, you know, it's still cold
and it's still going to be all those things,
still in Canada.
But like, yeah, the team in Edmonton has been way better
and they have Connor McDavid and Leon Drysidal,
but the living situation is totally different.
Like their new arena has changed downtown Edmonton.
I mean, the flames brought in Markstrom, Coleman, and Tanniv
in free agency.
Oilers have Hyman and who else in free?
agency. Like I hear what you're saying. I don't just don't know. I necessarily agree that it's
revamped to what they're selling here. You're going to Edmonton to win with McDavid if you're going
to Edmonton. It's not the rank. No, but you at least know that the place that you're spending a
majority of your time is clean, new, modern and beautiful. You have every, you know, amenity that you
could possibly want in that oilers 20,000 square foot space. That is their locker room, their weight room,
all that stuff. Plus, if you want, you can live in the tower that the team owner owns right
across the walkway and you never even have to go outside. So who are the wins then outside
of Hyman? Okay. And for agency. No, I'm serious. I don't think it's done a lot. I think David's done
everything. Okay. Fair enough. I would say even just from a visiting team perspective, too,
people actually like going there now. Yeah, I'd agree with that. Frank, if you could just say you hate
Edmonton.
Yeah.
I'll watch me.
I'll move on.
Then we can move on.
Okay.
Okay.
New article up on the front page of daily faceoff.com.
You spent some time with Craig Conroy.
Yeah.
And speaking of that, a great actual segue to the free agent talk is surprise.
I mean, I was certainly surprised to hear this when Craig Conroy said it, but he's excited and
looking forward to free agency.
And I think we'd
all be sitting back saying, okay, retooling, rebuilding, whatever R-word you want to use for the
Calgary Flames, spending money in free agency isn't typically one of those avenues that you see
teams take. I think that they're not going to be enormous, they're not going to be big game
hunting in free agency this summer, but I think they're going to be all over a bunch of mid-tier
guys to try and keep this team as competitive as they possibly can. They're not going to
to be tanking. That part isn't really a surprise. I think they needed to turn things over to the young
guys and, you know, what you're seeing from Conor Zari and, um, and Pospicil and the rest of the
group, like that's been the big shot in the arm this season. That, that's not going to change. But when you've
got 18 or 19 million bucks to spend, um, and you could have a couple guys come in on two, three or
four year contracts that can sort of prop you up in between, well, that seems like that's the
target that the flames want to go through.
Right shot D?
What else would they look at?
Yeah.
I would guess some middle six help forward wise.
Ah, they got like 12 guys under contract already.
It's crazy.
We just talked about taking some of the assets that they've got.
For me, it was Bowen Byram and Pinder keeps saying, Pender, I forget the guy's name
again, Holtz.
Yeah, Holtz in New Jersey.
If those are the kinds of guys now, you're not, that's not free.
agency.
No.
But if they're looking at not taking a long, slow redo on this team and organization
and staying relevant, is that a possibility that they target those types of players?
And are those players even really that available?
Well, I think they're available in the right deals.
But he acknowledged in our conversation, Craig Conroy, that it's really hard to make
trades for those players and I don't think that they really want to dip into a lot of their futures
and assets in order to try and pull it off. So that's what I was reading between the lines.
He did obviously talk about the Markstrom situation and a conversation that needs to be had.
They have not addressed it yet. The elephant in the room, which is Markstrom's comments from
a couple weeks ago now where he said that things could have been.
handled better up top or handled differently, I believe, is the exact quote.
He doesn't seem concerned.
He said he takes what Markstrom said with a grain of salt.
He thinks he's a true pro.
And, you know, but obviously the competitive factor of where will the flames be and what's
their plan for this summer, that's going to be a big part of the Markstrom conversation.
And now, especially with the news today of Ladar being out.
not just for the rest of the season,
but I know he's,
according to the release,
going to be ready for the start of next year.
Anytime you have a hip done,
I think it raises some real questions about your game.
Is there a chance that the tandem next year is Markstrom and Wolf?
Yeah, we were kind of kicking it around.
The one thing that you feel like of many things, maybe,
that held back of Lidar D.L was he's got another year at 2.
Whatever million.
now it's into the final year
and maybe he's more tradable
and now he's a guy that's coming back
from hip surgery.
There's some options there.
Wolf Markstrom, Wolf Lidar,
I don't think Wolf is going anywhere.
The one thing that we agreed on
is that Wolf has to be on the NHL roster,
whether that means putting Lidar on waivers,
maybe you lose him.
You have to do whatever you can.
I don't think you force a Markstrom trade,
that's going to work itself out,
but you need to find a way
to get Wolf on the,
on the roster to start the season.
Yeah, and I don't care whether it's Wolf and Vladar or Wolf and Markstrom,
he needs to be the constant.
I think you watch these games that he's played this month and you're like,
okay, yeah, like it's not progression in the NHL is not always a straight line,
but it's abundantly obvious that this guy is your goalie of the future
and could be an absolute star in this league with the right continued development and patience.
but the Markstrom thing is going to be interesting because I think the O-Mark
availability really kind of, I don't want to say it throws a wrench into things,
but if you were thinking heading into this summer based on, you know,
the run-up to the deadline before deadline day itself,
that Markstrom was really going to be the only guy that's the top-year goalie
available, the flames were dealing with an absolute position of strength.
now, not to say that they're not, because they do have these three guys.
But if O-Mark is there, and it certainly seems like the Bruins,
they not only tried to make a trade, but had gotten to the final stages of it before he blocked it.
Is L.A.?
Yep.
That that really, to me, it changes the complexion of the goalie market itself.
So just to back up a tiny bit, they have Swayman and O-Mark.
Swayman's an RFA this summer.
Olmark's got one more year at five.
You believe the Bruins have arrived at the conclusion that they're keeping Swayman and
Olmark will be moved.
Correct.
Well, Swamon's, as you mentioned, as RFA, needs an extension.
And his numbers have been better this season.
And he's way younger.
He's the guy.
He's the guy that they're going to pay.
And you'd have to think that he's somewhere in between five and six, at least.
He was at, what, 3.7?
Yeah.
Yeah.
So he's getting a pretty big raise,
and you're probably not going to want to be spending more than $10 million in goal attending.
Right?
Yeah.
Just to kind of double back, because we didn't talk about it briefly,
and then we kind of got into the Markstrom thing.
I think ordinarily when fans hear their team has cap space and they have money to spend
and they're going to be active in free agency, you get excited.
Well, who's it going to be?
What's who's coming to town?
This is awesome.
But to Ryan's point, it already feels like there's a glut of wingers.
Yeah.
You could all, every team would love to have another center.
You need some blue line help.
We've talked about in net.
I don't know.
And I,
I think this is a fan base.
This is,
and this has got for Conrad tired of overpaying guys or paying guys too much just to be here.
I don't think that's going to happen.
I guess I'm cautious to kind of hear that it's great that you've got the cap space.
Depending on the market and all that, I almost feel like, just hang on.
Just, what's the rush?
So, yeah.
That's actually been the huge refrain in my mentions today on social media is like,
oh, look, it's ownership overreaching again, that they want this team to be competitive
and they're going to go out and spend and get themselves into trouble.
Can't we just stick to the script?
But let's rewind a little bit to the conversation we were having a year ago, which was,
this team's never actually going to bottom out.
Not with Markstrom here.
Probably not with Wolf if he plays well.
Not with Cadry, Weiger, Huberto.
They don't have the ability to get to the studs,
to tear it down to the studs.
There's no chance that they could do that.
So do you at least try and,
if you don't get yourself into trouble with term,
try and go from being a team that played at a nine,
93 point pace for the last 70 games of the season,
maybe bump that up a little bit so you could be a seven or eight seed.
In the meantime of where you're trying to continue to develop these players and prospects
and also drafting for the future.
Like, is it possible to have your cake and eat it too?
Where by the time you get to, you know, your top level draft picks are in the lineup
and these prospects that you've now traded for that you feel like,
it can be something two, three years from now, by the way, when this new arena opens,
can you hold, you know, at least a competitive balance between now and then while keeping
the door wide open for all those players to come in?
So I've mentioned this a bunch.
I don't know that, like, I want to know your thought on how important it is.
Next year, they owe a first for Sean Monaghan.
It'll be their own unless it's the top 10.
Otherwise, it's Florida.
We assume Florida's not going to bottom out next year.
Florida is good.
It would be quite a disaster of Florida
didn't have a very late pick next year.
In the philosophy of asset management,
next year would be a very good year to finish
ninth from the bottom,
eighth from the bottom,
10th from the bottom,
or worse,
and keep a high-end pick in the draft
rather than give that to Montreal.
How much would that one variable play into your roster building this summer?
It's not.
And I even left some quote,
on the cutting room floor,
Craig Conroy could not say more clearly
that there will not be a culture of losing or trying to lose.
Yeah, but they're not trying to lose this year,
and they could very easily be a top 10 pick, right?
They're 12 right now.
They're closer to being 16 than they are to 9.
I think there's a bit of,
and it's not, to me it's less about culture and that,
I think to take an 82 game season to start essentially in a month.
and crafting a roster to get into the top 10,
or the bottom 10, whatever you want to call it.
Like I get, you build a very good case there, Penderlo, you can totally get it.
I don't know that's, I don't think they're bad.
I'm with Frank.
I don't think they're bad enough.
If you're San Jose and you look at it, okay, we've got, we got really nothing in
that, our defense, we've got one guy who's a veteran.
That's easier to do.
Chicago, they won for years, then they were really bad.
I just, unless you're getting rid of Cadre, Huberdo, Coleman, Anderson, Weiger,
they're not that bad unless the goaltending completely falls open.
It's the whole thing, right?
I don't think you start, I don't think you plan for that.
No, no, I'm not saying go try to be bad.
What I'm saying is you're really close to already that bad,
and you got 60 games from Tanev and Hannafin that aren't here next year,
and you got Vesna votes for your goalie.
You don't have those things next year necessarily.
So you might try to be good next year and say,
oh, we'll go out of right shot D.
and you still might be bottom 10 anyway.
They're getting, they got one of the, by many measures,
the top goalie by goals saved above expected in their net this year,
and they're 12th from the bottom.
I think we all agree on that.
But when you say next year's a good, a good year to be bad,
so what I guess what would you do if you're Conroy?
Or what would you want Conroy to do?
Well, you move Markstrom.
That's what you do.
to find the best young assets you can get for Markstrom.
And unless that market is very soft or he's keyhold on one team, then he comes back.
But otherwise you move him because you're going to have less saves next year,
almost no matter what, if Markstrom's gone.
Even if he's back, he hasn't had two consecutive strong years here.
And this is about as good as he's looked ever.
Can I ask Frank?
Because I'd rather have Frank's opinion than you two idiots.
But can it be done?
Like, when you look at the good teams out there, it feels like a lot of,
lot of them weren't very good and they've got a high end center and they've you know what i mean like
there are there they're they're they're trademarks to really good squads right goalie top end
d as goalie you know a number one center that's dominant right like can can conroy thread that
needle is it possible are examples of teams that have done it there's one right in front of you
staring at you in the face the nashville predators they're they were not trying to be good this
year.
They made a bunch of changes.
There's a difference between being good
and I guess what, sorry,
I think,
and we talked about this last year at the end of the year,
what Flames fans, what pinders annoyed
with, I get sick of, boom,
gets sick of, flames fans in general
get sick of is this middling
fucking middle that we seem to
find ourselves in forever.
We're not really bad and we might make the playoffs
next year. Absolutely. That is 100%
sent the case. And if you make the playoffs, you have a chance.
But damn it. When you look at our lineup, you really got a squint. You really got like
who's a Zari's been awesome. Pospicel's been awesome. They're a million they had like Pinder
just said. You had best in the goaltending. You had top four defense when they were really good.
You're still nowhere near the playoffs. They're one point out of the top 10 pick, but with all the
things that have gone right to. Anyway. One point. But even with all that.
that aside, can you thread the needle to becoming an upper echelon team where you're locked into a
playoff spot for five to 10 years and you know you're going to be good? Because I don't know that the
flames, they might make the playoffs next year, but they could finish fifth. That's a big variance.
I, I, so here, if, if I were to spell out what I, then this wasn't verbalized to me, I'm just
reading between the lines. That if, if, if, if, if,
I think the way the flames are looking at these next two seasons beyond this one are
Lip-a-coin, if we get in fine, if we don't find, it's not really our focus.
Our focus is 20-27 and trying to make the playoffs from 20-27 to 20-32.
and being to your point a really strong team that has a chance to contend then and the only way to do that is by drafting well and getting picks and piling and stacking those things up on the back of your scouts.
That's how I think they're really thinking about it.
But in the meantime, knowing that you're paying these other guys anyway and that you're, you know, it's not like you're going out and instead of spending, you know, 62 or,
82, like it's still a significant sum of money, whatever the floor is next year,
you might as well spend just a little bit more and at least give yourself the opportunity
to get there.
Well, and you can go get those assets.
And if it doesn't work out, trade them as well.
Well, you're the point is they're not going to be getting married to anyone this summer.
That's going to be a pain in the ass contract at any point in time.
That would be the fear, yeah.
And so it's not going to go shopping and buy nothing.
it's not going to be for big money.
I was going to say, don't do anything day one.
Don't be a day one team.
You have cap space.
You have cap money.
There will be bodies.
I feel like the bodies that they would be interested in or should be aren't top of
the market guys.
Then that's what I said right off the hop was not high end players, but the mid-tier guys
for two, three, four-year deals that can help bridge this gap between here and there.
when not only do you need warm bodies,
but to Craig Conroy's point,
you need vets that can help teach your young guys.
And they've got some of those guys,
but did you guys see the clip this week of Nick Folino
battling with Kevin Korninski in Blackhawks practice?
I could not, and I,
we played the clip on our show today,
could not love that clip anymore.
36-year-old guy,
1,200 games into the league,
10 to 15 games left in an,
otherwise dreadful season with a team that has a 300 points percentage.
And they're doing battle drills in front of the net.
And not only is he battling hard and is willing to get pushed around by a 20 or 21-year-old defenseman,
but then afterwards, after battling his ass off is slamming a stick on the boards,
loving it and celebrating the whole process.
Those are the types of guys, not saying Nick Folino specifically,
maybe there's a better version of that.
But the culture part of what the flames are trying to build,
I hate the word culture because it gets thrown around so much.
But they need something better than what they've had,
I think, the last few years.
I think Backland is a big part of that.
But they've got to ratchet it up a bit.
And this whole idea of, to your point, Pinder, of being like,
hey, you know what, we want to try and get inside the top 10 for a pick next year.
like that I don't think that's any part of their thought process.
Yeah, well, that can't seep down to coaches and players.
You build a team to try to win, but also understand if you didn't get
Vesna goaltending, you're firmly in the top 10 right now.
What did you have there, Red?
I was going to say it because I love what Frank's talking about because it
well, it pulls up my heartstrings, to be honest,
because I believe that there's not enough guys in the league that have that in them.
And I'm talking about what Felino's showing you.
Anyway,
to tie it to the flames.
Classic ret boner there.
I think there's,
there's leadership in that room,
but there's no personality.
And to me, I don't know
Felino personally, but from the clips
that you see, he's got personality
along with the leadership stuff.
Do you know what I mean?
Like,
Codry might be considered a leader,
but there's quiet leaders
and then there's guys with personality.
My complaint about the Flames organization right now,
their leadership group doesn't have personality.
It doesn't have pizzazz.
It doesn't have a sense of humor to it.
I know Backlin,
I know him personally,
and I think he's a good person,
but that's not him.
Right?
Like, he's,
he's not,
he's not like that,
Felino.
And I think that what you're saying would be a part of it.
So you don't want to be building any more Lego towers.
Is that what you're saying?
You know what,
but you need to,
because it does take a special guy.
Because you can have guys who are later on in the career.
And if it's a non-playoff season, they may have zero interest in babysitting or being a
Crash Davis for Nuke Leluke kind of a thing.
But Nick Folino is doing that.
And we've kind of also that.
We saw him bugging around with Badaard and stuff.
You love seeing that.
I just wonder how rare it is to find a guy who realizes I'm probably not winning.
I'm just trying to think because Felino chased it for a while, right?
he was in Toronto for a year.
It didn't work for him.
But who better,
who better to go out and find that though than Greg Conroy?
Well,
does you don't have that in like Weiger,
Coleman and Anderson?
Like I don't see any lack of personality with those three,
Red.
Don't know them.
Maybe.
He actually raved by the way about Hubertoe
and the work that he's seen behind the scenes.
Oh, get out of here.
Don't give us the reporter bullshit.
Conroy, get out of here.
What's he going to say?
He actually talked
exactly about that. He's the guy that's
taking everyone out for dinner. He's the guy
that's getting everyone together and going
places. I hope it's
I hope I'm wrong. I'm not there.
I don't know, but I'm just telling you what he
brought up unprompted was
the leadership.
I saw
that you had a meme. I think it was maybe on one of your
other shows, one of the other 10
shows that you do. I'm guessing this was on
this here is the race for the Eastern Conference wild cards.
So you've got New Jersey and Washington.
Look, there's the Islanders and the Red Wings.
It's all kind of the same.
I looked this morning.
Detroit, two and eight in their last 10.
The caps, three and three in their last six.
Islanders have lost five in a row.
Buffalo has won four of their last nine.
New Jersey, two in their last six.
Pittsburgh, two, five, and one in their last eight.
It is a turtle derby for the final spots in the east.
Does anybody want it?
Yeah, I was going to say that is absolute bullshit for Tampa.
That's the team I'm still afraid of if I see them in the spring.
Especially in like, I really like the Panthers and what they've got.
Like I think they're one of the teams to beat.
But like if you were to put Boston and Tampa together in round one, like I think it's a 55, 45, 45 close to a coin flip.
We'll talk to whoever's building the meme there.
I know you just took it off of Twitter.
So I'm with you outside of Tampa Bay.
But I would say the rest of it is, I would say it's a pillow fight, but that's a disgrace to pillow fights, because at least pillow fights can be entertaining.
No.
I mean, seriously, like, you watched the caps last night.
They lose by four.
They're no good.
They're not great.
They lose by four.
And that was their 26th regulation loss.
Okay.
Out of those 26 regulation losses, 21 have been by three.
or more goals.
So not only are they not good,
but for many nights,
they aren't even close.
Yeah.
That's what everyone's hustling for.
You want that top seed
so you can hopefully get Washington in round one.
You know who's got the best playoff position in the east?
Second in the,
yeah, second in the metro because you get Philly.
Yep.
Yeah, Philly might end up with a lower point total
than team out of the playoffs,
just by virtue of being in the metro.
Correct.
Arizona.
you were in you're in at the GM meetings
and I know Betman's talked a little bit about it
and we've seen that there's land that's coming available
closer to where you want to have land in Phoenix
if you're going to have an NHL rink I suppose.
So,
but we aren't going to know if the ownership gets it.
They got to bid for it.
They got to win the bid.
The bid doesn't come due till June.
And by then,
what's your read on this?
I guess is there confidence that the ownership
can win this bid looks confident there is i would say very little faith
um and trust i would i would say that's part of it um this is my unvarnished take this is my
behind the scenes here's what's actually happening we know that the league wants to be in
Arizona. They've put up with this for two decades because they are actually believers in the market.
Now, they had an opportunity to come out this week at the GM meetings and say, definitively,
no matter what happens in June at this auction, the Arizona Coyotes are playing in Mullet Arena next season
and we'll figure it out from there. They stopped short of doing that. And then they also said that if it
were to come to a June auction date and they were to lose,
that that probably puts them out of runway to relocate the team for next season.
So you would put those two things together and say,
well,
doesn't that just mean that they're coming back?
And if that were the case,
then you would have just said it and put all this to bed.
Yeah.
So that says to me that there's a lot happening behind the scenes.
And what I believe is the Arizona Coyote's owner in Alex Maruello is a confident
and I would say headstrong that he can win this auction
and actually get an arena project done.
And B, the NHL is trying to understand its own possibilities
and legalities of what would it take for us to wrestle control back of this franchise?
Should we need to go down this path where we feel like enough isn't getting done
to actually pull this off.
So one of the theories that's operating, you know, out there in the ether is that the league
will make the coyote's ownership whole every dollar that they've spent to this point
to buy the franchise, to cut the checks to run it, the debt service, every part of it,
they'll make them whole, take back control of the franchise, and then with a hefty relocation
fee coming from Ryan Smith in Salt Lake City, put the team in Salt Lake.
And then the owners, the rest of them divide up the profits.
And because the NHL had propped up the coyotes for so long, and there were probably some
contingencies as part of this team, the Maruello family buying the team, that the NHL
might have a path to do so.
Are they willing to fight?
How much of a problem or issue will Maruello be in order to do that?
will he get in the way?
And then what are the chances that they could actually win this auction?
Like there's all these things happening in the background that we don't know the answers to.
And frankly, at this point, the league doesn't know the answers to.
And they don't really want to act until they have to.
It was May 11th when Atlanta moved to.
May 31st, actually.
Sorry, May 19th, I'm looking at the article from the global mail that broke the story.
So that's what to win publicly formally announced it until May 31st.
Sure.
So point being, that's ahead of a land sale, but it's not an unprecedented amount of time to move things,
especially if you have the salt like people working behind the scenes, no?
Yeah.
And I would say that the other part of this is how does the NH, like let's say the NHL has to come in and be the bad guy,
which I don't think they're afraid to do.
if they have to.
How do they save face in Arizona?
The other component I think that would be part of this
would be that they announce that at some point
over the next five years,
they will have a formal expansion process
that will include putting a new expansion team in Arizona
with a new arena and either the same owner
or potentially a new owner that would be able to, you know,
run this team properly.
Yeah. It feels like they just need to distance themselves from this coyote's thing.
There's just so much stink.
I couldn't agree more.
I think this franchise as it's currently constituted as a laughing stock.
I think they need to go to Seattle or sorry, Salt Lake City and they need to rebrand.
They need a new name, new logo, new every, like I think their hockey ops and their management
is on the right track with all the picks that they have and prospects.
Yeah.
It might be better than an expansion team, certainly out of the shoot, and then come back to Arizona
without the toxicity of the coyote's brand.
And frankly, I think the added toxicity of this ownership group, not paying bills,
you know, losing a referendum, basically getting, you know, kicked out of Glendale.
Like, this is two municipalities that have basically been like, hey,
This isn't working here.
Yeah.
How many more do you get?
There's no rink in there in Phoenix.
Ah, there is.
And you used to play there.
It's actually a very nice rink.
But you ruined it.
So it's interesting.
You know what?
And I was just,
we'll let you get out of here.
But I was thinking,
if you're a billionaire,
what gets your heart racing?
This Ryan Smith and Salt Lake City,
how bad do you want the coyotes?
Just win that auction for that land in Scotts.
Dale in June and you're in
baby.
Making a nature reserve.
Let's go.
I spent a few hundred million on this land.
You know,
whatever.
That's a fuck you money.
It's still land in Arizona.
It's probably whether it's,
it costs you a little more now,
five or ten years from now might actually be a pretty decent investment.
And by the way,
everyone keeps talking about this.
You know,
and the coyotes just continue their subterfuge.
They,
they send out some,
some renderings yesterday.
Like,
no one has really even mentioned.
Like the site,
that they're talking about is still not really ideal.
It's still like 25 minutes from Scottsdale where everyone lives.
And it's a pain in the ass that everyone's been saying,
put the team where the fan bases are like, this is not really bad.
It's closer than Glendale.
But it's not Scottsdale still.
They need a full reset.
It's a disaster.
Oh, man, I got stories I could tell you for days.
They would require many, many beers.
Let's do it.
Maybe.
Maybe if I come to
WrestleMania with boom boom.
Red's got in his mind.
Red has it in his mind that I need to invite
him to WrestleMania for him
to go to Philly for WrestleMania.
Where's the invite?
I'm with you, Rhett. What the hell?
You know, Frank, when he asks somebody,
you kind of throw it out there
and hope for some return engagement.
Maybe you just struggle reading between the lines.
Maybe he just doesn't want to spend the weekend with you.
It's hard to say.
We'll more on that next week, I suppose.
Frank, appreciate you, pal.
Have a great weekend.
We'll talk to you, I guess, on Monday.
See you guys.
You bet you.

I think it's nice to be excited about free agency.
I would definitely temper expectations.
I was, when he first said it, I'm like, oh, I text, group chat.
Dude, gross.
well and reading between the lines like you don't want to go and say hey yeah yeah we're
definitely not going to spend any money and you know I don't think you're going to be good the next
years of course you're trying to improve your roster but we talk about what percentage of deals
signed and free agency turn out to be good ones it's a very small number and now you're trying
to convince someone to come to Calgary versus say a contender I mean it just feels like that's
where mistakes often are made that said
they do have a need for a right shot D-Man on the second pair.
They do not have a second pair heading at the next year.
If you went to an Alex Carrier or someone like that in Nashville,
that would make sense.
Otherwise, I don't really get it.
They got way too many forwards already.
They've even got to the off-season.
It's very specific.
You brought up Alex Carrier's name.
Well, what do you see on the right-shot defense market, Dean?
I'll ask you.
But do you have some intel?
Like, it's the one name that you bring up every time we talk about.
Well, it's just because it's not,
I don't like if there's a superstar out there
they're not getting them like Stephen Stamcoast can be a free agent he's not coming to
Calgary so let's not waste our time on the big names it's going to be a niche
small agreed fit type piece and so I bring that name up because people are like who and it's
like yeah it's going to be that type of guy someone that could play top four and that
isn't going to be a huge money or huge term all right but I mean by all means right
shot D they got to find one sift through the free agent market
We have time to do that.
Indeed.
As I believe yesterday was 30 days out from the end of the regular season.
I think I read yesterday.
Yeah, the 19th.
We're getting down to it, men.
Getting down to it.
Where are the flames?
How many points?
Eight, still eight.
Eight points?
Dude, they're one out of a top ten pick right now.
I just saw that.
There's some games in hand that aren't even, but New Jersey.
They got a W over Pittsburgh.
The other day, Buffalo's been playing better of late, not great, but better.
It just is right.
to say top 10 pick.
Doesn't it?
Yeah.
Feels real good.
If you got to pick between a defenseman or Teage,
like that feels like a good thing.
Listen,
this has been a banger of a year.
Conroy's been busy.
We've had some great hockey.
And we're going to get a top 10 pick.
Shut the front door.
Honestly, though.
It is.
When we were at November 1, and this team was 2.7 and 1, about to dress up like Hicks for the outdoor game.
You thought this was going to be a six-month death march.
Yeah, you weren't worried about not getting a top 10.
You were thinking of top three.
Well, and it's just like the games aren't going to be exciting.
They don't work.
The veterans all quit on the team.
The kids aren't good enough.
Like, it's just, it's a disaster.
You're looking at a San Jose type situation as things play out.
Instead, Sari and Pospasol arrive, they look great.
You get a lot of reps for defensemen that are in the system.
You've moved on from these veterans and added a bunch more picks.
Like, it's been a great year.
Friggin Huska.
Yes.
Hoska and Markstrom has a great year.
What the hell are you guys doing?
And they still could get a top 10 pick.
Well, we got to shit talk someone.
This is a Vard guy, he's got to figure his shit out.
This guy, I don't know what is problem.
You tell the Army to get that power play specialist.
Or he's committed to.
Power play was any good.
We would be in a playoff.
He's committed to that top 10 pick.
He's got the big picture thinking.
Action, good stuff, Savvy.
Brilliant.
Out of boy, savvy.

Nationgear.C.
Buy those tickets.
Looking forward to getting back to Greta.
For another big hockey night.
The last time we were there was a big flames win against the Oilers.
Yeah.
Now we're going to be rooting hard for the Canucks, I guess.
just how committed are we to this top 10?
Yeah, that is the thing.
The Buffalo won on Sunday.
That's the big four-point.
It's huge.
They don't have back.
Marsham sounds like he'll be back.
Markey always gets up for those games against his old team, it seems like.
You've got the Kuzmanko storyline.
You've got Lindholm and Zedorov.
I mean, that's not going to be a dull game, I'm guessing.
There's good storylines there.
That's this Saturday at Greta.
Tickets available at nationgear.ca.
and presented by our event partners at McLeod Law and Village Honda.
It's wrong with your camera.
I don't know what's wrong to my camera.
Is it just me?
Like on my side.
It's freezing at my end.
Jack,
is he freezing for you?
Yeah,
you're freezing a bit.
I'm just below freezing.
It's so cold.
The wires.
That's what it is.
You want me to get right out?
It's your dogs.
They've been chewing on it.
I could throw out of the Tinder report here and then just,
uh,
just beat it.
Do a quick reboot?
I can do it.
I can do that.
Yeah, sure.
After you throw the Pindre Report.
Right.
Well, and it's a presentation of Village Honda.
And let me tell you about Village Honda.
The 2024 Honda Accord redesigned last year, chosen by car and driver magazine,
as the number one mid-sized sedan.
One of the most reliable vehicles on the road is better than ever.
Superior ride quality, reliability, and impressive fuel economy,
all thanks to the EXL Hybrid.
Check out the Accord and more in the,
Northwest Auto Mall at Village Honda and at VillageHonda.com.
It is, they present, of course.
Oh, shoot, we got to get the thing here.
Ryan Tinder.
All right, we start with the goalie news for the Calgary Flames, fellas.
Dan Vladar, Rhett, shut down for the season.
HIP.
Markstrom ready to go.
That's the good news.
We'd sort of been hearing about Saturday as a potential return.
more and more looks like that's going to be the case.
Certainly as a roster player, maybe as the starter,
Vladar will not play again until we get to camp,
Rhett in theory, and Dustin Wolf ain't going anywhere.
That's the other takeaway here, which I think if there's silver lining,
is the biggest one.
That's the Wolf going to get a lot of starts between now and April 18th, I guess.
You get a nice idea if these two can work together.
It would be nice, yes.
And as noted by Frank, a 944 save percentage from
Wolf in his last and if we want to dig into it, I could do some analysis of this
Vladar injury and offer up some advice.
You would, uh, do you need to be in person, poke and prod?
What do you know?
Well, I might want to look at it, stretch it out, you know, see the, the imaging that they've
got there.
There are all kinds of alternatives out there.
It's not to hasty with the surgeon.
I, I'm stunned personally that Connie hasn't brought you in as some sort of medical
analyst slash advisor role here to help with this stuff.
I'm with you.
You could be shooting some stem cells into that hip.
Do we need to do surgery?
Where are we going?
We're going to Mexico.
We're going to Panama.
I will accompany the fellas on their medical knee trips, journeys,
whatever the hell you want to come.
I can source tacos.
You do the medical centers.
Danny's in good hands.
Hey?
Two weeks in Panama?
You kidding me?
Let's go.
Be back better than.
Let's go.
Let's go to the state.
Where are the flames at?
Well, they're still kind of where they've been for a long time here.
Barely over 500, but they are.
What hell Seattle doing?
Yeah, they got to get going here.
No, I want to make sure we're not, uh, I think the flames are three games over.
Seattle's one game over, if I'm correct.
I'm just going to verify that right now because, you know, this is Seattle's got Vegas tonight.
Come on now, fellas.
Yeah, they've got one game in hand.
I think Vegas is struggling.
I think he can catch them.
Come on.
It's, uh, it's not Hill tonight.
It's Thompson.
So we'll see.
Come on Seattle, pull up your socks.
Let's go.
Three back of the Cowdery Flames
in the Western Wildcard Chase.
The Frank article that we alluded to,
here's what she looks like up on Flames Nation.ca
and also I guess daily faceoff.
Maybe he'll double up there.
Connie talking about the summer,
lots in there,
including most of the conversations we've had today.
Now, Rhett, who is that great college free agent
that just signed at a Mancato, Minnesota State,
the centerman?
Michael Norton.
Hank Horton.
Horton hears whose.
He's back at it again.
Game two, Ratt.
Oh, he doesn't piss around.
Goes inside out.
Cole Schwit.
Tick-tack-toe.
Forty-five.
I wore 45.
What a jersey.
Where the hell did you wear 45?
Lord.
Wow, what a 24 hours for this young man.
Well, put Sandra.
Good 24 hours, indeed.
Primary helper in his first game, scores in his second.
Horton hears who's.
No booze.
Cheers for Sam Morton,
goal and an assist or two games,
the college free agent.
Not bad start.
Great.
Cining.
Yeah, that's what Connie.
Man, Kate.
Wouldn't it be the thing that you'd,
your legacy,
you'd want it to be in five years
if you're Craig Conroy to be like,
yeah,
they might have messed up an ELC deal,
but God,
he had an eye for talent.
That's what you want people saying
about you in five years, right?
I believe so, yeah.
Yeah, that'd be the thing to do.
We've got lots of scouting reports
in the comments as well,
people liking his skating,
blah, blah, blah.
Okay, good.
Greta's Saturday, we told you, Canucks Flames.
Check out the additions here, Rhett.
There were big screens before.
These are huge screens now, dwarfing the two tops.
No TVs in the alley at Greta.
Ready to rock.
Love it.
Nationgear.ca.
10 bucks all goes to charity, and you're going to get all kinds of drinks,
specials food, prizes, trivia, and Dean will sign your undies.
You can line up all that.
Hugs for Dean, free hugs.
What?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Free hugs from Dean Saturday night.
Did you see the new screens, big screens?
I did.
Thanks, Casey.
How about Case?
And very high probability he's less obnoxious than the last party when he had the bullhorn going in an oiler's loss.
I don't know if that's true.
I've never been around him when he's not obnoxious.
Sounds like someone we know.
Ovechkin back at it again last night, two goals in Calgary, and why not another against Toronto last
night. Problem is they made this nice
graphic and then he immediately scored again.
So he's now 49 away
with the rest of this season plus
two more and suddenly
at what, 23 goals on the year?
Like he'd go and get
25 fellas. No sweat.
It's too far out still.
Too far out. It's too far out. He ain't doing it this year.
No, no, he's not. But if you could get that total under
40 with two years left, you might have a
It feels like a slam dunk.
I think good.
Since Jan 27, when he got on this heater,
there's only two other players in the league
that have scored more than him.
That's my birthday.
Good company.
That's the day after Gretzky's birthday.
Yeah.
Save the best from last.
And if there's a Gretzky fan out there that's playing,
do you think they'll take a run at OV and try and knock them out so he can't do it?
Not sure.
I don't know that we talk about Wayne.
It's like, oh, man, the goals.
It's like, no, God, no.
He's like the points.
He's like a thousand ahead a second.
Good goal score.
That would be the opposite of trying to help a guy near the end of the year
get a bonus for incentives or something to knock out Ovi to keep the record intact.
That's poor sportsmanship.
You got to make it in for yourself, Dean.
You got to get noticed out there.
Do you?
We saw the Pashtonack Hattrick the other night in Boston.
We missed this.
This is good stuff.
So obviously throw hats on the ice for sure.
But this is a new vibe.
There's a snake in that guy.
This snakes or later.
This is a bear belt, Dean.
And Pass is like, you know what?
Wait now. Wait now. I'll take that.
Check this for ticks. And if that's clean, I'm taking it.
I don't mind that.
I can wear that to the team party.
Just make sure it's not soiled.
Yeah.
Yeah, I'll hang on to this.
Put that my honor.
It'd be great.
Man, you think about a team that lost Chara, Bergeron, Krati,
in like the last three years.
Tide for first and east.
Not bad.
Unbelievable.
There's your culture, hey, Rhett?
Yeah, I think there's something to be said about the culture in Boston.
Speaking of hockey, culture, leaders, glue guys, we challenged you all to go to the Puck Dooku yesterday as we helped design it.
So a lot of people sent them in.
Your photo for this Puck doke doke do is just phenomenal.
Isn't that?
Are you teaching people to surf in L.A.?
Look at all this.
Right again.
Wherever you need me to go.
All goalies but you there.
Look at that.
And that was, yeah, if you didn't catch on.
So wait a minute.
You qualified for all of them?
Red.
Well, now I, gosh, I feel bad because I was kind of saying, like, what kind of a plug?
Well, go to back, Jack.
It's 700.
Great company.
Go too bad.
Look.
Bedard, Tim Thomas.
Peck, Tej Tobs,
this is great players here.
You and Terry Sawchuck.
Always, we talk about you in the same breath.
Yeah.
Same era.
Yeah.
I don't know why the bra blocking white camera for him,
but okay.
Yeah.
Anyway,
I was a.
Mike Peck.
Peck.
Are you,
now,
are you,
incurred,
do you feel like,
is Pac doke?
I got to go check this out.
You can go check it out every day.
There's a new one every day,
bud.
I try not to use my phone.
Once he gets that narrow link,
he's in.
Yeah.
Look at a screen.
Once it's directly wired into the skull,
I'm in.
Look at this hair,
by the way.
Christ,
that's a mullet.
I was going to say,
does that qualify as a mullet?
God,
it feels like it does.
Look at short at the,
that is all business in the front.
It's gorgeous.
That's what it qualifies as.
Yeah.
Don't like it out into one thing or the other.
Take it all in and just admire it.
Take it all in.
From 90s to 08,
where are we here?
Well,
I think that's a Flames jersey.
Yeah,
that's a flames jersey.
That's a good hint there.
Yeah. Yeah, that looks good to stampede right there.
That's a vibe got that lazy eyes starting to kick in there from this C-T-E-S-P-N.
And, Dino, the follicles per square inch on that upper lip.
Oh, look at it.
Unbelievable.
Yeah, look at it.
I'm growing the flowback.
It looks like one of those, it looks like the side of a box of matches.
You know, you have the big boxes of matches on the side.
It's just that igniting strip.
K-Q, I'm growing it.
I'm growing it out.
I went to grow it out, the guy effed up the haircut.
Come on, buddy.
You got one job.
Can't be trusted.
I said long in the back.
Tonight?
I didn't go to great clips.
Yeah, apparently not.
A lot of non-flames games tonight, Dean.
Someone told me 11.
I don't know if that's true or not.
It's 11, yeah.
We'll dive into some of those with DoorDash and Betway later on.
We should do an 11-day game parley.
What?
If you think 11 games is a lot,
Buckle up because March Madness is here.
We got a little bit of a teaser with the NIT tournament.
So all the teams that don't qualify for the big one,
they were going the last couple days.
And this morning, as of an hour ago,
we are underway with March Madness.
I think we're around 100 people in our bracket.
You should see all the drunk people in Buffalo already.
And so how about a 16 game parlay?
That's what we're looking at for March Madness games today.
Here's how pumped up people are in the States.
This guy can't be sober.
The NCAA Division 1
Women's Basketball Championship against the night
on ESPNU for more information on Dave time.
Is that a woodwind?
That is a clarinet.
That's a woodwind.
Yes.
That's not brass.
And that's Montana at the NIT.
The question is,
is that guy actually in the band?
Or he just steal a clarinet and get up in there.
Is that Pender?
Or is that you?
Yes.
Well, I'm here right now.
But my doppel gang are busy.
I mean,
boom was a.
Edmonton two nights ago, I could have easily been at the
NIT yesterday. I wish to say.
And you love a great clarinet.
Yeah, you love having
a reed in my mouth.
Things in your mouth.
Now, we got to find a team to get behind.
And I noted this team yesterday. And then I saw
this on TikTok.
Take free money on the NCAA tournament.
Take Longwood plus 2,500 against Houston.
This is an absolute lock. And I will tell you why.
In each of the last three NCAA
tournaments, a team with a phallic name has defeated a two or higher scene. In 2021, we had Oral Roberts
defeat Ohio State. In 2022, we had St. Peters defeat Kentucky. And in 2023, we had Fairley Dickinson
defeat Purdue. On Friday, we have Longwood going up against Houston. Plus 2,500 moneyline.
I am absolutely hammering that. This is the lock of the week. Who's ready to be a billionaire?
What guy didn't blank once? Longwood. I don't know what the St. Pete is.
Is that something there in Phalaic?
Peter. The Peter.
Yeah. Okay.
Not as I guess on the nose as the others.
Longwood a 16 seed.
Before you take that man's advice, just careful now.
They are playing a favorite in one of the, you know, quarters of the bracket.
It'll be a big win.
One of the regions.
That's how upsets happen.
Oh, God.
I mean, how excited would you be if Longwood pulled it off?
Oh, I'd get a T-shirt.
I can't even start to tell you.
How excited I'd be.
I mean, imagine the enthusiasm around Longwood, if they could get through this one and just keep building and building in the crescendo.
Ryan, stop.
Let's move to some fails.
Okay, good.
Just had one.
Jack and his buddies.
Let's get away from the serious stuff.
Yeah, that's right.
Like Longwood.
Jack and his buddies, they're at it last summer.
They built a bike ramp here.
This is my down to Montana, Jack, I believe.
And these guys are having some fun.
hit the ramp
you need better supplies buddy
you come on idiot jack
jack you barely hit the ramp
writing a shitty
kuhara bmx
no no comments from jack
like that week you know that chip board
that ply board is no good
just a lot wrong there
yeah it's no good that's
give your head a shake right now
jack and his buddies weren't done there
the big bike enthusiasts
check out this race they were a part of
and then even got a Darwin award nomination
this is something
oh oh oh
the um this is getting worse
yeah this is uh wow how many guys are out here
if you're way back there you are bailing now aren't you
hit the brakes down this is holy crap
there's a lot of broken bike gears yeah yeah they're still coming
only minor injuries oh thank goodness yeah yeah yeah
Fat guy parasail?
All right, let's do it.
Up there for a second.
Okay.
Let's go back to that and let's picture that this happened in Canada and it's going to overwhelm the medical system.
Can we not charge these ass hats for being stupid?
Yeah, there should be a stupidity tax.
You enter an event like this.
There's like a thousand bucks that goes towards your future medical costs.
Yeah, you show up at the hospital and the doctor says, so how did this happen?
Oh, we were biking down a groomed downhill.
Yeah.
Because that's what I was going to say.
Yeah.
My question would be,
how doesn't this happen every race?
Yeah, or does it?
It takes one person to slip and fall and then cabong.
Not good.
And how many people are in this bloody race?
How do you get those bikes up there, that hill?
Great point in the comments as well.
We got a lot of questions.
I hope that's not in Canada.
I don't want to overwhelm the health care system.
Well, and you know what that is, guys.
That's some of the modeling the city's done.
That's what the new bike lanes in Bartolup.
What's going to look at?
Fat guy parasail.
Didn't even say your name, Dean.
Let's have a watch.
Oh, that's good.
It's really trying here.
Superman.
Oh, boy.
That boat does not have enough.
Not enough HP.
Yeah, the 9.8 horse there, the Evan Rude.
You need a, yeah, you need another Evan Rude.
Yeah, you're going to need some twin.
Twin prop.
Now that guy and his buddies, that was a tough day.
You know, walk it off, a little embarrassment.
But you know what?
A couple beers, let's get that behind us.
They're down in Mexico.
Still lots of good times.
That's one of Jack's Call of Duty nights it looks like there.
And somewhere in there, Pender is still there because there's people away.
Yeah, DJ.
Yeah, you're doing high kicks and playing two.
I'm like, guys, wait for the banjos on the song.
This is in Riyadh.
where someone has climbed onto a construction crane, Dean.
He's putting chalk on his hands.
Whoa.
Way up there.
I'm not sure what he's saying,
I feel like he's loading up for his next trick, Dean.
So why did you put chalk on your hands?
Are you familiar with this technique?
like this.
I think it's
the boogger-snugger
because there's only one way
you're going out there.
Yeah, he might be a little wound up.
That's fair.
No, I think it's to keep
your hands dry so they can't sweat.
If he falls, I'm not going to like this.
On the Pender Report? No, gosh, we wouldn't
do that. So there's a cable there
he's got his feet on.
And, uh, okay,
his feet.
Jesus.
Off.
One hand.
And he's
going to eat a banana.
That's your fucking trick.
You need potassium for the muscles.
If he chugged the beer at that moment or open a bottle of whiskey, okay.
That is a man's man.
Nothing more manly than deep throwing a banana.
It's cultural teams.
Not a boost in the world.
Ladies, hit me up on the IG.
Can you go out for bananas together?
there's more bananas where that came from ladies
you guys
you guys familiar with parkour
it's kind of like ninja stuff jumping around
yeah I thought he did great at the
ceremony with Kipper
this is me before the haircut
doing some parkour here we go
intensity of it
look at the eyes he's just focused
oh
stuck the lambing
there again what's he trying to do
well I think he kind of
it's so focused here.
He doesn't see the beam.
I'll deal.
The handle there.
Oh, dear.
But the thing,
the beam didn't just pop out.
No.
And they were setting up the mat,
like setting all that up.
I'm guessing that beam was there.
What if he went a little bit for,
like what if he misses and goes to the left and gets impaled on that other one?
That's,
that's,
uh,
tomorrow's pinned report.
He's,
we'll have more from him.
You ever gone,
uh,
you ever driven a car in Asia,
Dean?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Because it's a great adventure.
It sure is.
So, I mean, the question really is, okay, there's lines on the road, sure.
They are irrelevant.
And, Rhett, you've traveled the world.
You've seen scenes like this.
Let's have a watch.
We're somewhere in South Asia here.
Oh.
Bustas, motorcycles, motorcycles, motorcycles, motorcycles,
I don't know what side of the road you're supposed to be on, even.
Doesn't matter.
You just got to get there.
Yeah, it's a good thing.
they got lines.
Yeah.
And just doesn't really stop.
Like this is all day.
Tractor in there.
Look at this.
You got to be alert.
It's not a Sunday drive.
Come on.
It's not the back roads.
See the guys like three-home microwaves on their motorcycle?
That's right.
You're not out by Longview with some country hick just
cruising the backroads there.
You've got to be on your toes.
ready.
Dean's big scuba guy.
Last time you went down to Florida,
he got the gear on,
he had a camera,
you were shooting all that Viz for the show.
So,
so he's on the right,
and he's got a camera in front of him there.
Looks like you found something.
Yeah, loves the.
Now that's just got to be a dummy.
That's got to be something floating.
Oh, no, I take that back.
No.
Just wanted to want.
It was interested in what the guy was filming.
That's the nicest.
alligator we've seen that guy is cool hey what's going what's in that man you got to smoke what's
there's some coral or something in there what are you looking at hey you settle down dude
what I hit before what I'm gonna bite you you do that again right you remember when Dean
bought ramps loves ramps yes he was so excited and the ramps are part of a dream and the dream
was to tinker to tinker on cars what is it a
Monkey wrench for a jar.
Grease monkey.
Grease monkey.
You just wanted to work on old cars.
Fix up old cars.
Just clear my head, tinker with cars.
There's a lot of passion inside them.
Yeah.
So, you know, Dean, this could be you if you just followed through on your dream.
Right.
I'm not sure we're going here.
Yes.
Yes.
That was my hope.
I actually think this is so much.
I actually think this is perfect.
98.
What's 98?
This could be a.
You fall through your name.
You're still here.
Okay.
Sorry.
We'll just go 98.
Here we are.
I was going to say the old, please let there be nothing there.
98.
98.
Let's steal a 98.
Here we go.
So this AC.
Do you want to set this clip up again, Ryan?
No, we're good.
Okay.
So there's some weird noises coming out.
We're tinkering.
That's too much.
A lot of leaves.
What the hell is that?
That's some sort of a snake skin for sure.
Right.
But how could the snakes seem to get in there?
Oh, hi.
It's still there.
Yeah.
It could have been in your air vent.
Yeah.
All right.
Now let's go to that Airbnb that we had in Nashville.
It said to that.
He took this video before the draft.
Look at the size of the fridge compared to that thing.
Jeez.
Yeah, that's a sizable spider of some sort.
Sizeable.
That's a sizable basketball.
Oh.
Oh.
You're not doing a lot for tourism of these countries, you know.
Some people love it.
They'll see you in the Northern Territory.
Some people love it.
Yep.
Like look at the comments.
Get the F out of here with that thing.
Yeah.
Can't wait to get the...
Well, so maybe it's cuisine that'll entice you to travel.
We've had a lot of great food here.
Do you?
Cuisine? Sound up.
Volume off.
What is it?
Because I'm not looking back.
Oh, it's just chicken.
Everyone loves chicken.
Yeah.
On the one in the report.
Done.
Brought to you by Village Honda.
Huge selection of pre-owned vehicles,
all makes, all models, all budgets,
over 90 units on site,
access to more than 500 more in the dealership group.
Make Village Honda your one-stop
automotive destination in Calgary.
They are worth the trip.
It's Village Honda located in the Northwest Auto Mall.
So Lidar's out and Markstrom will probably start.
Okay.
Zerry might be.
I'm nauseous by that.
That's gross.
You don't like chicken?
No.
Like Padres and Dodgers played a game.
Mani Machado hit this massive home run.
No, let's show some woman eating
some goddess, dude.
Spoiled jellyfish guts or something.
The pleasure that he.
takes in this.
Can I ask the people that are listening?
What are the roads like?
I think the DUG set out
in his vehicle.
I hope he told him you loved them.
Rett, can you just walk us through how
this is going to work? The people that are
listening, who's going to
who's listening at this moment?
Who's going to be listening live right now that's going to be able to
let you know what the roads are?
I don't know. So are they in their
car.
People that drove to work.
Watching on YouTube as we speak.
Is that what it would be?
You can just listen on other things?
It couldn't be a passenger.
Okay.
So if you're in a car right now and your passenger watching live on YouTube
the roads east of Calgary this morning,
maybe it came in from Strathmore.
Maybe it came all the way from trunk full of origin.
Dolmany.
Dorothy, it's out there.
Hannah is the first one that comes into your mind.
All of you folks out in Hannah, how are the roads?
Hannah Barbary.
Hey, Jack, Betty, or Wilma?
Betty.
All right, good.
Ryan.
Hey, Dean.
Tell me about your Douglas mattress.
Like it, Dean.
A lot of room on it these days.
Same size.
but you know what?
Sleep's cool.
You're not different.
When there are two people there,
not waking each other up when you're getting in there.
Yeah, that's right.
And the other one was about a billion years old.
So I feel like I've,
I've jumped forward in time to a better place
where mattresses are more comfortable
and I sleep better.
Love it.
Is there a determined,
I guess it depends on how quality
the mattress that you have is,
but how long are you supposed to be sleeping on a mattress?
Not as long as we are.
Everyone's holding these things too long.
Way too long.
If it was a couch in your living room,
you'd be embarrassed and you'd get rid of it.
Yeah.
But because it's not,
people hang on to these things way too damn long.
And it's taught,
so for a number of reasons.
Maybe you've had the mattress too long.
Maybe the mattress,
regardless of how old it is,
is not a very quality mattress.
Maybe you tried to save some money
and now you realize,
gosh,
I spent a lot of time sleeping on this mattress.
I deserve better.

That's not going to be there.
Slash Flames Nation.
There it is.
Oh, look at there it is.
Proudly made right here in Calgary.

Douglas mattress.
Canada's best mattress,
according to Canadian living.
Get on it.
That should be their thing, right?
Like get on it as in hurry.
But also.
Don't waste any time in buying a new Douglas mattress,
but also once you get the match,
you probably get on it.
Oh my God.
You guys are assholes.
No support.
Get on it.
You get to play on words there.
Right?
Yeah, I like it.
Rhett, I know you love getting to the near the end of the show and then starting to talk about new things.
So I have a few things here today.
We've hardly talked about any hockey last night, Red.
We talked about the capitals.
Now, Ovi got two goals and the caps lose because we don't think they're very good.
Toronto 7-3 win.
T.J. Brody, healthy scratch last night.
Hey, how's that tickle your pickle for a free agent signing on the back end this summer?
I love pickling and tickling, so.
What did you just say?
T.J. Brody, do anything wrong?
How does it what?
You like that?
There's a different structure of folks.
Did you?
What did you say?
Oh, nothing.
It's been one.
How does that tickle your?
You shouldn't have Tick,
Grody, really?
We lost all semblance.
Austin Matthews, two goals.
He's at 57, 57 goals on the year.
That's a good number.
Yeah.
Five point night.
And there was a vicious high stick by Tom Wilson in this game.
Vicious.
Came right around on Noah Gregor.
Wack.
Sure us.
Probably just a little fine.
Well, Jack said he was going to get it.
Okay.
I didn't get it.
The Minnesota Wilde, who we're hoping, like, come on, win some games here.
They got blown out.
Thumped.
Yeah.
Now, they're above the flames.
You're out.
Don't panic.
But if you were thinking he can reel in.
Yeah.
But still, I'll look at Jack.
He's scrambling to get it.
He's going to get it for it.
So here's Tommy.
Got the one hand.
Wack.
Oh, dear.
Now, maybe that's accidental, perhaps.
No.
As soon as it's done it is.
As soon as he's hit him.
How's he to know what's going to happen there?
I love if he grabs him.
Oh, geez.
I'm so sorry.
My goodness.
Oh, no.
Oh, no.
Oh, no.
Oh, did I get you right in the.
Oh, did I get you?
He's looking right at the ref.
Oh, dear.
Oh, oh, no.
Oh, oh no.
Look at the care I'm showing at this moment for this player.
I can't believe my.
Oh, goodness.
No,
me all the way in front of me and hit this poor chap right to chops.
Oh, boy.
Tommy.
Well, was he,
was he bent over at the time, you know,
reaching for a puck?
Not really.
Was there a fly he was trying to swat off of the helmet of,
not sure.
One of those big spiders from Tobago.
Take a few games, bud.
Do you think I was going to say now this is a guy that has suspending.
I throw the fucking book at him.
That's pretty reckless.
I feel like that's five.
God.
And I almost feel like I don't disagree necessarily.
That'll be a $5,000, $2,500.
So David Perron got six games for a two-handed slashed to the helmet.
Mm-hmm.
When his buddy,
whether it's Larkin got caoed or something like that.
I'm trying to remember which one was.
And then earlier in the year, Truba swung around, hit a guy in the head,
$2,500.
Yeah.
What are we doing here, George?
Well, Ryan, I'll let you know I'm just biting my time
till I get a GM job.
That's what I'm doing.
I'm trying to keep everybody happy
And where I want to end up might get some preferential treatment.
So you're not all in on Barnbury?
You're just biting your time?
Jeez.
Until you get a GM job?
George.
Sorry.
Boy, if I ever ran into George Peros, I'd have a few things to say to, oh, hi, Mr. Peros in the elevator on the way up at the All-Star Skills competition.
So, yeah, the wild got beaten by L.A. five job, George.
Huge. L.A. 6, Minnesota Zero.
David Riddick, big shutout for the L.A. Kings.
Big save, Dave.
So the, uh, Oja Kopitar, who remember was left for dead.
by some members of the media years ago.
Which way?
Last night, a couple points,
1,200 points in 1361 games for Ange Coptatar.
He passes Dino Cicerelli.
He is 51st all time in points.
And now is, where are we here?
He's four points back of Vincent Dampfus for 50th.
Would Ange Copatar strike you as being a top 50th?
score or all time.
I agree with you, Rhett, not to me.
I was shocked that he would be in that category.
Longevity, right?
Good on him.
Yeah, $1,300 is a lot of games.
Like he'd be more than top 15 games.
So he's consistent.
Who else is in that?
Because I was looking this morning.
You want some other, you want some perspective on that?
No, we don't want your lists of players.
I'm not with your list right now.
We don't, no, no, nope.
Yep, back on task, feed.
So he has more points.
But listen, you want to talk?
Longivity.
He has more points than Patrick Marlowe.
He's there's no one that are better offensive player than Patty.
Right.
But I mean, you talked about.
How many less games?
Like a hundred around.
Patrick Marlowe played 9,000 games.
So yeah.
That's a lot of games.
Yeah.
1779 for Patty Marl.
Jesus.
80 times.
Well, we had it the other day.
How had 2200 pro games when you had in.
the WHA, that's insane.
Imagine adding Rett's total
after Patty Marlowe's career.
How'd he do?
And then what's all, while we're talking about,
you talk impressive, all right?
So 1,700 games, 1,300 games.
You go to near the top of the list here.
There's Joe Thornton, 1714 games.
He's 14th and scoring.
Sid, Sid's 12th overall.
He's got 1,250 games.
How about Mario?
915 games.
Yeah.
Eighth all time.
1723 points in 915 games.
It's like half of Patty Marlowe's total.
Doc.
Yeah.
And Dallas got to win last night.
Back we got Winnipeg, Colorado, and Dallas.
93, 93, 93.
Those three are, it's going to be a dog fight to the finish.
It's fourth amongst active players and games played.
Oh, in games, gotcha.
Do you want to guess who's that more?
Well, I was looking.
I know Sid and Ovi are there.
Ovi's are more than him.
Sid's behind him.
Well, now I'm looking.
So it's.
Burnsey on the back end.
Yeah.
And Ryan Suter,
sneakily, which makes sense when you think about it.
Souter's been around basically since he's been 18.
He's getting that double salary thing that pay to not work at one place and also pay to work in a different place.
So good.
Yeah.
Double dip.
There are 11 matchups tonight.
How about the Rangers in Boston?
Love it.
It's in my bet.
We bets.
It's in my Dordash.
I'm jacked about this one.
Boston tops in the overall standings.
The Rangers are third but tied for second.
It's points per cent.
That sort of thing.
Every night it's shifting too, right?
It's like there's games in hand here there.
There's like five teams within two or three points.
It is unreal.
Pasternak 97 points.
Panarin's got 94.
Could I say Copatar pass?
Marlowe?
He'd need another beat season.
Five seasons?
Four?
Yeah.
It's 36.
Yeah, that'd be something.
Wow.
You'd be more excited about that?
I would.
Taking it away from a Sasker?
I don't know why.
Yeah.
Team never won, that's why.
Well, I think it is because of Hal got beat now.
And I'm like, oh, fuck it.
Everyone beat them.
Go ahead.
Artemmy Panarin.
So what do we got here?
He has played how many games left for the Rangers?
I saw this this morning.
I just went to double check because I wanted to make sure it was accurate.
And it is.
He has 94 points.
Should be a shoe in to get 100 here.
They've got a month left in the season.
He's never had 100 points.
Really?
95, 96, 92, and this year 94.
Wow.
Do you want, do you hope that Panarin becomes a hundred point guy?
Hell yeah.
Damn, right.
I sure you do.
Bread man.
Yeah.
Of course you do.
Pumped.
All he had to do is shave his head.
He got all his power back.
Yeah, his hair is too long.
The opposite of Samson.
Yeah, clean it up.
Hippie.
Tampa Bay, San Jose.
What a matchup.
This will be.
Less of that.
Yeah.
Kucherov is tops and scoring 118 points.
He and Nathan McKinnon have been going to do some of this stuff.
He's not playing tonight.
So 11 game assist streak for Kuch on the line tonight.
That is a.
team record. Well, he took all his time off at the fricking all-star break.
Yeah, that bounce pass drill thing there. Thanks for mail it in. Yeah.
Florida, they along with the Rangers, they're tied for second to the overall standings.
They've got Nashville and we know that Nashville's been red hot. Oh, hey, go bears. Yeah, Caleb
Williams can't wait. 13 0 and 2 in their last 15 games as we've talked about. The Predators are
scorching hot. An old Ryan Sam, Sam, Reinhardt, 40.
eight goals.
Sammy.
It was a big deal in it here.
Man, he got 40 goals.
That's pretty good.
He's feeling to pressure now.
He's not going to get it.
Don't think so?
I'll take the over it.
Winnipeg out in New Jersey,
the long-awaited return of Tyler to Foley back to New.
Big rivalry.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Montage.
Oh, hell, yeah.
That's the Fudential Center.
Yeah.
Go right after.
He's been good.
Four goals and six points in his last three.
The jets have won three in a row.
Jets are good.
You're free to lose tonight, Jets.
Really?
Do everybody a favor.
The devils get some, yeah.
How about Monaghan, five helpers in his last three games, just quietly, putting them, putting the work in.
I mean, I would dump him for, give up a first.
Give up the first to get that guy off your friggin roster.
Nice job.
Cactus cuts.
Shifley five points in his last three.
Get the hatcher.
You know, Monaghan's putting up points.
You don't see him getting healthy scratch, do you, T.J. Brody.
Yeah, didn't think so.
Vancouver, Montreal tonight.
Cuba within striking distance, the top spot, too.
And we talked about those, that the pile of slop that's trying to get in in the east.
Yes.
Two piles face each other tonight.
Oh, yeah, a pile up.
Here we go.
Eaming.
The wings won.
They got by Columbus in overtime a couple nights ago, yeah.
No time and overtime.
Yeah.
So the Islanders who are also there, they've lost,
I believe it's five straight.
They've got Detroit tonight in Detroit.
It's just one five in a row.
What are they doing there?
Yeah.
Come on Pat.
So the wings are one point up on Washington and three up on the Islanders.
But no one is playing particularly well in that group.
And there are other games,
but that's just kind of a quick look,
which I know you appreciate, Red.
Oh, thank you for that.
Did you miss the hottest team in the NHL against the best team of the
NHL? Did I? I might have.
Pantaro's Predators, baby.
A couple of cats, just battling it out.
I think, uh, tiger and I, I mentioned that Nashville 13, 0 and two in their 15,
Reinhardt, 48 goals, he got 40 and then he's, didn't miss it.
Yeah.
I have to pee really badly.
My brand's turned off.
I need one of those neural links in a catheter.
Tomorrow on the show tomorrow.
That's key to keep the show moving.
Don't shut it down now.
You really have to go.
Okay.
So tomorrow on the program, we'll go inside the Great Clips inbox.
If you have questions for the fellas, if you have hockey questions, whatever it is,
maybe you have some video, some footage you'd like Rhett to break down about the X's and O's and the strategy behind the left wing lock or something like that.
Send that in and we'll get to it on the Great Clips inbox.
Send your questions in.
The email address to do so, Great Clips inbox at Flames.
dot CA because of course great clips inbox great, great partners of ours, great sponsors,
more than 4,400 salons throughout the U.S. and Canada.
It's the official hair salon of the National Hockey League.
And Red, I guess, because you're growing your hair out,
is sad.
They won't be seeing you anytime soon or do you want to get it maybe cleaned up,
get everything kind of set up for the big grow?
Somebody said once to me that you get to trim just a little bit, it grows faster.
That's not I've heard.
Is that guy hammered or is that guy accurate?
No, I've heard the same.
You just kind of tips.
Yeah, you kind of.
How do the tips even know?
Are they talking to the roots?
It's like your cooler, Dean.
How do you know if it's hot or cold?
How do you know?
How's the cooler supposed to know?
You got your thermos, your Yeti?
Yeah.
How's, amazing.
Don't go hot in those things.
No good.
No.
Too hot.
Burned your lips.
Greatclips.com.
Go book your hair thing.
Get your hair, get the, the app.
Yeah.
The way you do it.
And then it's going to be great.
We'll do that tomorrow with great clips.
that way bets
oh yeah
that way bets
people still doing perms
are perm's the thing
people have been asking me
if this mallet's a perm
I don't know it'd be like flattered
or angry
it is tight
because I think a lot of times
once the hair starts to grow it
it kind of gives up right
it starts to kind of just
what does the perm do
just curled permanently kind of thing
is that what the old ladies did in the 80s
or the thing came over
and the other curls
and that was a
that was the draw
Yeah, you'd get, you'd get them all locked up there.
Yeah.
Curl them in and then.
So is that getting a perm or is that something different?
Oh, that's permanent.
I think it's permanent.
I don't, I can, you know what?
Speaking of what the old hat head dryer thing, I don't see those anymore.
No.
Yeah, I know.
That's, uh, what have we replaced that with?
What, what do we, who invented?
Blower.
Yeah, I hand a blow dryer.
Blow dryer.
Awesome.
Seems.
That's fun.
And more work.
Yeah, my arm's tired.
Labor intensive.
It's a back and read the magazine in the old one.
Yeah, probably more effective, but who's to say?
Oh, this is coming in.
We're not doing questions, but Marcus wants to know.
Hey, Pinder, can you explain how if we finish bottom 10 next year,
we get our first rounder as opposed to sending to Florida?
I tried to explain to it to someone and I made zero sense.
So they sent a first to Montreal in the Monaghan deal.
They owe Montreal first.
It will be the highest of the two first rounders between Florida,
which they received in the Huberto trade and their own,
with the exception of the flames pick is top 10 protected.
End of story.
Unless you think Florida's going to be really bad next year.
I'm not seeing that.
It will be the flames pick going to Montreal,
unless top 10.
You don't think they'll go from number two overall,
potentially to last place?
It would be very odd, Dean.
Although the Tampa Bay Lightning went to the Eastern Conference Finals
four years in a row, three out of four,
the one year missed playoffs.
So weird things happen, but still,
I wouldn't bet on it.
If only there were odds,
if only there was someone like Betway,
who would give you that kind of an opportunity with Betway.
Now is the time.
If you've heard us talking about Betway and you've just been holding off,
then maybe this gets things that greases the old skids or gets the wheels going for you.
Get a free bet up to $200 if your first bet loses right now with Betway.
Create a new account.
Scan the QR code on the screen.
Redeem your bonus.
You place a bet, no minimum amount required.
If it loses, you get a refund up to $200.
You can then use that money to bet on your favorite sports.
This offer only available outside of Ontario.
So the Betway Betts managed to nail both yesterday.
I wasn't sure because felt like the coyotes were going to get rolled up.
They did, but I needed a Schmaltz point.
He got it done early.
And had a big, had expected a big win for Toronto.
I would have had the Toronto money line and a
Nylander point. Yeah, yeah.
I think he had three points on the night. So let's
keep it rolling, shall we? Nice.
Tampa Bay, San Jose. Give me over
six and a half total goals and a Kuchera point.
Oh, I like that.
Here's the last,
again, you can double check this.
Tampa Bay has played very little hockey.
Since they played, remember they were,
they played the flames and lost.
Yeah, that Thursday night,
right? In Florida, after the deadline.
Day before the deadline.
They've played four games since then.
What?
They've won all four, but there have been four.
They have kind of weird breaks.
They've won seven, well, the games, they've won all four.
Seven nothing, six, three, five, three, and five three.
So I'm going to say, let's go.
I think they light up San Jose.
Maybe the sharks can get in there a little bit.
Over six and a half and a Kutrov point for a plus 100.
And Evgeny Kuznetsov has come on as a member of the Carolina Hurricanes.
First three games, he had nothing.
But in his last five games,
yeah, he's got five in his last four.
So he's over a point per game here over the last week or so.
They've got Philadelphia.
Give me a Kuznetsov point minus 105,
nearly even money for Kuznetsov to keep doing the thing.
Like it.
Is it an eagle or a?
Well, it's his Washington, the caps,
the old jerseys had the bald eagle, America.
America.
America. America from
She to shine a she
Pender's bets.
Stan trying to stay hot with you, Dino.
Let's do it.
Let's go.
Rangers in Boston.
The Rangers beat by Winnipeg.
They should be ornery.
Heading to Boston.
Nice little matchup here.
You're not going to see the Rangers
are plus 120 very often.
Good team, but there you go.
And I'm riding the hot hand.
Florida is a better team if I'm picking in the spring.
But today, National 15 games without a loss.
go get them preads plus 150
those are some tough ones you're you're not you're not shy
well we caught the uh the winnipeg win and the Tampa win in Vegas
two nights ago on that big slate go on with some good teams that were dogs we're doing
it again here 200 dogs plus money on both sides good luck and boys that way
two for ovi two for matthews last night that was easy
Yeah.
Get that new account with Betway, scan the QR code on your screen,
redeem that bonus, it will get you a 200 bucks.
Essentially, you place the bet.
If it loses, you get refunded up to $200.
And then you can use that money again to bet on your favorite sports.
This offer only available outside of Ontario.
It feels good, right?
Because you're, oh, geez, Matt, did it feel great.
Boy, I'm nervous about this bet.
Not anymore, Dean.
Not anymore.
It didn't come through.
Wait a minute.
look at this.
Betway's saying, dust yourself off and give it another shot, man.
Bet the responsible way with Betway.
Old Jerry, Jerry in on the chat.
How come Rhett doesn't bet?
Jerry, that's quite the, again, Jerry with the photo there.
Well, Jerry, less is more sometimes.
The hot climate, really air and things.
Come on, Jerry.
Oh, Jerry.
Good old Jerry.
Very disappointed yesterday.
I went downstairs.
We were talking at the end of the show.
What are we going to do?
Maybe we'll door dash.
What are we going to do?
It's a cold day.
Definitely got to get inside and something's going in the oven.
I'm going to stay there at a long time, low and slow.
Text the woman that I live with, hey, what time are you home for dinner?
Oh, I've got to think, well, I work till whatever time and then I got this thing.
So I'm not going to be home.
Just take care of, you know, feed the kids.
Okay.
Yeah.
So then I text the, the older one that's back.
and is just living around the house.
Are you around for supper tonight?
No, I got a thing and I got to go and do a thing.
A lot of things all of a sudden.
So what am I going to do?
I'm making things getting away.
Cuts in the cradle in the silver spoon.
Made of mine.
A man in the moon.
Yeah.
Is he smuggling things across those countries?
Is that why he's got some.
Yeah, what is this?
This is racket.
He's running.
That ain't it.
That would mean there's a plan of some sort that he's put some
thought towards. So it was, you know what it was? It was some
Sozic and parogis. Oh yeah.
It was worse things. It was a fan favorite for the people that were here to eat it.
I'll tell you what. You did good. You made good on short, you know,
yeah. Was it extravagant, but that is far from a fail. Yeah. Thank you. I fried three onions
yesterday. You fried three onions? Could have gone with my parogies.
Exactly what I was thinking.
Did you put them on anything or just?
Not yet, but I'm going to make smash burgers today.
And then I'm going to heat them up again through.
Frye fan.
Griddle.
What are we how are you doing?
A riddle for shizzle.
Try it, Pindler.
I got it in my mind.
She contributed in your home at some point.
Yeah, there's been a lot of contributing in the last two weeks.
But prior to that, it was a tough run.
Yeah.
How do, now you have twin boys, Pender.
Yep.
How does their dietary intake change from when mama's home to when just dad is home?
Oh, that vegetable drawer is the only thing still full.
Everything else has been stripped bare.
Pizza pops again?
Yay, Dad, you're the best.
We found some gluten-free nuky yesterday.
One was just jacked.
Couldn't get enough.
Couldn't get enough.
And it's like make triple the helping and then put it in their lunchbox for the next day.
That's the move.
I'd like to see the boys.
I'm sure they've got a pass code at the club there.
Yeah, they're not allowed to charge.
Yeah. They've been busted now, many times.
Again, this would be a reason to have the pre-show.
Maybe subscribers could get the pre-show.
Retro, I'm hearing a lot of stories about
kid getting busted.
There are young for that, too.
There's some phone calls that come in.
We found Terwilliger doing something he shouldn't have been.
There's been a bit of that going on.
There are facilities in the club.
You don't need to do that there.
I love it.
The one I have no concerns about,
as long as he's not incarcerated,
he's going to get what he wants.
He's just too bleeping determined.
And, yeah, the other boss is heart.
Good.
Yeah.
Someone's got to pay the bail, right?
You need a pal to bail you out.
I was going to say when you started talking about
smash burger thing there with the griddle.
I know what's not going to happen.
Like, it needs.
somebody to help me out. I want to do my outdoor situation. My backyard is not great.
My deck I need to do something. I would love to have like a little kind of an outdoor kitchen
thing. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. My barbecue is okay. I'm happy with that.
Reposition it. Then maybe get the, uh, like the black stone alongside it, get a little thing there,
maybe a fridge underneath. I don't know. I saw what of a roof thing.
The, uh, Argentinian barbecue. Oh. Coal, real wood. Yeah, yeah.
They got the grates that tilt over the fire.
Oh, really?
Up and lower up and, oh, I might step it up, Dean.
Really?
Because I thought for me, that would be stepping it up just to get like a griddle, the grill, and then maybe a shaminger.
A trigger or something.
That's camping.
You're talking about camping.
This I'm talking about next level.
Like we're going to do goats and pigs and steaks.
and fajitas and chicken and like okay this thing's a whole it's a whole kitchen right so i make some
fucking pancakes so no i'm not allowed to do this no okay okay if you get a dream dream big would you
please a lot of food judgment on this show don't disappoint me with your bullshit
argentinian it is that's what we'll do or just order door dash that is that is exactly the
answer. I was looking.
I got him to go barbecue today. Oh, fuck.

What's on the tuberino?
Man, tuberino's got 16 games of March Madness.
First tip off is 1015 this morning.
The last game tips off at 805 p.m.
805.
We're talking 13 hours of NCAA basketball today.
And I know no one in this.
he would be more excited than Big John.
Because then a VAT.
But a walkback are favored as 10 seeds against number seven Baylor.
He will be excited.
He's jacked.
He's a,
I've got a bunch of people who'll meet you this time.
I have kids.
So let me try to pawn them off and I'll get back to you.
Yeah.
Because usually that does slow you down.
I needed another day here.
I could set up a play date.
God damn it.
Elsewhere, Rangers in Boston take on the Brooklyn.
and Nashville and Florida.
There's some good hockey and some great
buzzer beaters today, maybe.
That's what's on the menu.
Very nice.
Thank you, DoorDash, dash that for the win.

Sweet.
A couple updates for you.
In person hearing for Tommy Wilson.
So that sounds like they can go over
five now because it's in person. You can't do more than five without the in person. And then secondly,
we had a little late push this morning on the old bracket. Looks like we have 92. 92. Did you do
on red? Two bracket. I have no clue how to check it or find out how I'm doing.
Well, however you logged in and made the picks, just go to that space again. Chew those same
mushrooms and you'll end up there again. Hmm. I thought it was onions.
you made yesterday, not mushrooms.
I love mushrooms in my onions, too.
Put on my burger, both those things.
That's great.
Look out. Look out.
Drager.
Great clips.
In box.
And we're going to roll it for Tim Hortons.
That's a heck of a Friday.
We got tomorrow on the show.
And Flames game day, finally?
No.
Closer.
Maybe a travel day, maybe?
Still good enough, though.
Still reason to definitely come.
and visit us on Barnburn.
I want to know because it's shitty out here
and I'm going to be lazy all weekend.
Yeah.
What's the best series
to watch Sopranos,
Breaking Bad, All time.
All time, binge?
Yes.
Wow.
Band of brothers.
I think there's a lot of people
redoing the Sopranos.
Yeah, because it's been a long...
It's been a long time.
Yeah.
I watch Casino on a plane a few months
and I wanted to go back and watch Sopranos.
Oh.
Sound off on the plane.
I've didn't have headphones.
I was a whole.
What if you did a whole
mafia weekend?
Yeah.
Godfathers.
Godfathers.
Yeah.
Casino.
Casino.
Good fellas.
Good fellas.
There's a lot.
Donnie Brasco.
Remember Donnie Brasco?
Yeah.
And then what was the one with De Niro and Pacino
more recently?
Heat.
Heat.
That's an epic, like three and a half hours.
That's not really mob, though.
That's just crime.
Okay, my bad.
Yeah, that's just crime.
The person I lived with should realize that I can't answer the phone while working.
It's been an emergency.
Have you watched somebody in the chat?
Have you watched the wire, right?
No.
It's good.
Okay.
He heard that before.
Yeah.
I'm going to be honest with you.
You guys are going to throw your hats at me and I might just have to close my case.
Computer where you're never watched.
Breaking Bad.
Oh.
I also have something to fess up there.
I'm like eight episodes in since COVID.
I haven't picked it back up.
I want to.
It's probably my favorite of all time.
And it's kind of getting good,
but it's like there is this little build in season one,
right?
Do you remember?
Oh, yeah.
But they do a really good job of wanting you to watch the next one.
Yes.
I'm surprised it's taken,
but you got kids or whatever.
No,
I know what it is?
It's just if it's TV time,
it's like,
well,
I already saw this.
It's like,
okay, fuck,
I can do this.
That was what I should be doing it.
She's Dan Enda,
right?
Better call Saul's very good also,
which is a spin-off,
which is actually a prequel to the,
so wouldn't spoil it to watch that?
I don't think so.
No,
I don't think so.
I mean,
either way.
I should just finish it anyway.
You probably should.
There's a lot.
Peaky blinders.
I remember DeForrest at the old shop.
Love peekie blinders for a while
Of peeky blinders
Yeah
Killion Murphy of course
Of recent fame
What's the recent stuff?
He was in the shit
The movie that won all the Oscars
Oppenheimer
Thank you
Oh nice okay
Yeah
There's Jack
You're a fucker
The guy playing for the Steelers
Which got him so excited
Yeah
Ozark's good
Yeah I really liked Ozark
Are you up to speed with curb
Retro
I might be one or two
Behind
But yeah
You said you started
than this last most recent seasons very recently here yeah i watch god i love that show gettysburg address
episode uh yesterday i've decided one back i need more comedy in my life yep well and if you let i've said
it before but i kind of got it pan by you guys but um i think you should leave now is that what it's
called the tim yeah uminson it's a acquired so they're acquired taste for sure five to 12 minutes long
they're awkward, but you're never in that long.
Yeah.
And some very, very funny skits for the ones that you're like,
yeah, it was just okay.
The people that love it really love it.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You just believe that.
The Oscar Meyer weiner driver,
I don't know that it tops that.
That one is just the guy smoking the cigar in the car.
Have you seen that one?
No, you would know immediately.
Okay.
Yeah.
I'm sorry.
Well,
Oh, you guys are all in Yellowstone a few years ago, too.
Did that fade on you?
Well, it's waiting, waiting for the, what,
the final season's coming up?
It's,
do they spin a series off that too called like 1812 or something?
Oh, there's two.
Those are almost better because they're almost a little more
realistic,
maybe. Yeah.
Yeah.
Or at least we don't have the context to know how unrealistic it is.
Yeah.
Right.
Yeah.
It's like, there's a lot of people.
people dying.
Like bombs go off.
So you got your machine gun out and just blasted a few people.
Or you got hit by a machine gun.
I'm all right.
Is there a cop anywhere that's curious where these people have gone?
Are their parents?
Are their family members who are,
our son was there in Montana working in an office?
We heard there was an explosion and multiple deaths.
We've not heard from him since.
I wonder if they've checked in with local authorities.
to find out where their son might be.
Ah, you know.
And apparently if you're a livestock, if you are a livestock,
whatever it is, cop, you can do whatever you want.
Oh, yeah.
You can do whatever you want.
Powerful folks in the, unbelievable.
Yeah.
But I do like it.
I mean, it's kind of silly, but I don't mind it.
Game of Thrones someone through in the comments.
That's a banger.
Last season got a little squirly, but up until then it was awesome.
It was HBO, whether they got a little ahead of themselves.
I think they gasped the writer and they're like,
we need to wrap this thing up.
Martin and yeah, it was the shit.
All the loose ends just got tied up and everyone lived happily.
End of series.
Yeah, spoiler right, I guess.
For those who haven't.
I didn't see any of the Game of Thrones.
It's not your schtick.
No.
It's not boring.
It's really good, but it's not Dean's.
So describe it to me.
Ah, you're sort of set in medieval times.
There's sort of, uh,
dragons, magic.
Different noble families vying for a throne.
what feels like ancient Europe and then, oh, there's dragons around and some people control the dragons.
It's wild.
Lots of nudity, brothels, all the good shit.
I liked it, but I read the books when I was a kid.
You're a reader.
Love to read.
Such a good reader.
And Jack, you could learn one thing from Red.
I could read like a bastard.
Yeah, he really can.
My eyes move over the letters and the words, but there's no comprehend.
It doesn't go from here to here.
I was telling some people about your eyes last night.
They were concerned for it.
I bet they were.
The only person not concerned was that damn eye doctor
that kept shooting lasers in them.
Yeah.
It's nothing to laugh about, Ryan.
I wasn't laughing.
That was you.
See you, buddies.
