Starting point is 00:00:01 Look at us, ready to roll on a Thursday. Welcome to it. It's Barnburner here in the McLeod Law, LLP Studios. A beautiful day out there. The sun has shine. Look at that. We've got some leaves on the trees. Yeah, it's greened up nicely here.
Starting point is 00:00:15 Think about all that moisture on the weekend. May long, baby. So good. Jackson, great spirits. I'm wearing shorts and flip-flops. I think so, yeah. You're over your hangover? I can see your toes.
Starting point is 00:00:27 Yeah, you can. It's a good day then. It is. Yeah. Beauty day. Good stuff. Love it. what do you think about
Starting point is 00:00:33 Rhett I was going to beat you better much I can't tell you about the city loading it out this show brought to you by Bet365
Starting point is 00:00:44 Hockey fans Check out Bet365 And the three goal Early payout Your team goes up by three You get paid It's that simple Download the app
Starting point is 00:00:52 Today must be 19 or older Please play responsibly And the super chat Money comes in As you chat live during the show, money to the use centers of Calgary, we then put your comment on the show. I was thinking about the three goal early payout.
Starting point is 00:01:07 Yesterday said, well, you could get the three goal early payouts, three nothing Vegas. Do you, like we did with Minnesota, do you dip back in? I think Colorado. Colorado plus two and a half would be a move, wouldn't it? I wasn't feeling it. Plus two and a half? Obviously, the money line's a huge hole.
Starting point is 00:01:24 Just for them to come back from the 3-0 deficit. They did it against the wild in that clinching game last round. watching the game last night. I'm like, I don't know. I'm not feeling it tonight, boys. Well, you're sad. I got it to 3-2 and I'm the smartest guy alive. The plus 2.5, yeah, we don't pay it.
Starting point is 00:01:44 I don't know what you're talking about plus 2 and a half. He just needs to make everything difficult. It just, it's, what is plus 2 and a half got to do with what he's saying? So when you have the early payout, it's 3-0. The line they'll offer you on the puck line is not going to be minus 1.5, plus 1.5. It's going to be two and a half because they're up by three typically. Or you could just take them to win. Yeah, the money line, which again, to come back from 3-0, very big ask.
Starting point is 00:02:09 You'd have huge numbers, handsomely compensated to come back from 3-0 in a playhouse. I think you're right. But the live line would be plus 2.5. I think you're right. Our early, our pre-show conversation, he's going to take things of unique paths today. I asked Ryan, hey, because when we left yesterday, Ryan's probably going to be. Probably going to have a few It hit a patio.
Starting point is 00:02:32 What are the odds? I don't get a few beers. So I asked him prior to the show. So did we get cranked? Did he go out last night? Go out last night? I went and signed a baseball card. Oh, inside baseball card.
Starting point is 00:02:53 Didn't go out last. I should have. This is the problem. I always get shit for going out. When I don't go out, those are the days I struggle. Who gives you shit for going out? This old grumpy bath. Oh, do I am?
Starting point is 00:03:02 I don't know if he does. I really don't. He gives you. I just recognize when as the only person that's insinuated, I'm an alcoholic in my life. Did you not say before the show, I only had one beer yesterday and then you sighed. Yeah, I wish I had found something to do and have another beer. I had a good little window then. Anyway, um, beer.
Starting point is 00:03:22 Bet three six, yeah, with the three-go-old early payout, regardless of the two and a half, was Colorado going to be able to come back and win the hockey game? Like they did against Minnesota. they did not. They ended up losing by a score of 4 to 2. That's all I was getting out. Boom, no. He had the vibe.
Starting point is 00:03:36 Dubu. Just, uh, no Kail McCar. Nate was, you know, Nate was buzzing around. It just didn't have that. Kind of weird. Weird energy. Carter Hart was tremendous last. Did it not feel like watching Jacob Dobish and the Habs where it's like,
Starting point is 00:03:52 yeah, you're probably getting outplayed a bit, but I don't get the feel like the goal is going to let another one in here. Shot clocks starting to tilt to the Colorado side. Carter Hart making saves. Made a big save off of Nazam-Caudry late in the first period in power play. I want to say since like the early stages of that Utah series, he's really been very, very good.
Starting point is 00:04:11 I think. I thought you said that he was not. He's had a miserable year. And then all of a sudden you look at the last two weeks. You're like, damn, that's a nice run. You know what he needs? Like his regular season numbers are very bleeping pedestrian. When did he start?
Starting point is 00:04:25 Well, he didn't play to the last seven games of the season or six games. He got in in the fall, but then I think he got, Chris Hardley in and then he came back way later and you wonder how much is like boy he hasn't played a lot of real hockey for the last two years versus he just got to get some reps. The other thing too the coach has faith in him
Starting point is 00:04:42 and the coach is toward it. I'll get better to be fair too. You're going to be our you're my guy. You like that song Jack? You're going to be a big guy. No, I don't. My guy? No, faith. Oh. George Michael. Then you can tell you to me.
Starting point is 00:04:57 I got a mouth. My guy. Carter Hart in the playoffs 13 starts. He's 9 and 4 has a 2.35 and a 920 safe for example. I don't think you did the reads. See, uh, on the crappy. I think we were doing the reads.
Starting point is 00:05:13 And then he interrupted us. Well, I got the Bit 365 in. I did mention McLeod Law. We're here in the McLeod Law studio. I think we're good, rat. I think we're good. Yeah. We did the youth centers of Calgary.
Starting point is 00:05:24 Is everyone all right today? I don't know what's happening. I was up early. Nosebleed at 3.30. We had a 5.30 wake up for. Holy. It's still skating early. Can you drink enough coffee where it works in reverse?
Starting point is 00:05:37 That was all. That was your question. That's my second round of a double Americano. Like I could drink another coffee, but I'm not convinced it's taking me in the right direction. Jack? Yep. Let's go for a drink. Let's go for a beer.
Starting point is 00:05:51 It's finally nice. It's a long weekend. Is it? Yeah, Friday's off. Oh, that's exciting. Memorial Day. You're American. Poor drags.
Starting point is 00:05:59 We're a lot of America. We're American. Yeah, we'll have to let a lot of it. No. By the way, in the Pender Report today, we have Pittsburgh Jack. So if you ever wonder, man, if my family had stayed there, I found him. That's what Jack would be if foot daddy'd stayed in Pittsburgh. It's got to tie it.
Starting point is 00:06:15 Jack, you like mountain climbing? So we're done with the game? No, I actually didn't know that you did all the reads. I felt like we got him in going all over. But, yeah, well, you guys are idiots. I'm smart, but I'm also an idiot and you're smart because the best three, six, five. I took the J's and the avalanche. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:38 Well, Parlay. It's close. Pinders, you savage, Schlitler. That paid. KVath. Also, our shot bet paid as well yesterday, which is good. He had double hit, and I think it was plus 190 and plus two something. So I took Vegas to win the series, but not win game one.
Starting point is 00:06:57 So it didn't. Did I take Colorado in six? I did. I just looked. You had six. I had five. Jack Scott, Vegas. Vegas in seven, seven and retroz Vegas in six.
Starting point is 00:07:07 Wow. Boy, check. And you were pressing, Dean. Like, are you trying to be a shit disturber when you're picking Vegas? And, well, we got to catch the leader. And no, but actually, I don't know. Yeah, I was just, I was just curious. I got more belief in Vegas after last night that I did yesterday, but I didn't think they
Starting point is 00:07:23 had any chance yesterday. I'm with you. And I don't know how much of that is maybe rusty. Yeah, but McCona. They only one day more than Vegas. That's it, if I'm correct. The Kale McCar thing is a real deal. I agree with that.
Starting point is 00:07:38 They are a different team without him. What do you mean? Cale McCar is quite good, good player. Didn't play last night, Red. And he didn't play last night. Well, son of a good. Now, before we get to that, I just wanted to just again, while we're talking about, you know, being an S-disturber,
Starting point is 00:07:53 Jack last night, 7.51 p.m. We're well into the game. Jack sends a message to the group. Heart has been incredible. Oh. Question. were you just making an observation? Were you sitting there watching the game? Like, I'm going to chime in and let's just with the boys.
Starting point is 00:08:08 Or were you going after Pinder a little bit, knowing that Pinder has been highly critical of Carter. Both, both for sure. Okay. It's nice when you can check. Pinder is a big time hater. It felt like more one than the other, to be honest. The chat was a little quiet.
Starting point is 00:08:19 I wasn't sure if everyone was watching. All the vibe I picked up was the second half of that. Yeah, I thought he was needle and a little bit Carter Hart has been incredible. He deserves some flowers. He's been very good. Yeah. I think they looked like they were in trouble against Utah at one point. But since then, Hart's been the guy.
Starting point is 00:08:36 Like, I think he's probably, we talk about when goalies get on one of those 950 runs for a month. He's like halfway into one of those. I completely forgot Torts had him in Philly until they brought it up on the broadcast. Yeah, that was, I'd forgotten about it too until I think we saw them down the stretch here. Yeah. Because Torts made the move pretty much as soon as Hart was healthy enough to come back. And when they went to get him, this was always the plan.
Starting point is 00:09:04 But I think Torts coming and only cemented him. Well, Hill hasn't performed well since winning. Has he? Had a tough year this year. Really tough year. Did we like the game? Were we in? I like the end.
Starting point is 00:09:16 I mean, I like the Colorado at 3-0, 3-0, that could have been Snoosville. And you get the building into it. They get the power play. They pull the goalie. As much as you might have thought that there was no chance they're coming back. I mean, they had some looks to tie the game at the end. Yeah. which is all you can ask for.
Starting point is 00:09:31 I mean, 3-0 is probably not ideal for the home side there when you've only lost one game out of 9 so far, but not unlike the Minnesota game and when they fell down 2-0 to L.A. early in that series in a game, they don't go away. They can still score. They're not worried about getting the three. It was a weird one because it was scoreless in the first.
Starting point is 00:09:49 It was fairly even shots, shock-clog, more or less even. But there was no, it's like, here it comes Colorado, look out, grab a hold and hang on, because this is going to be a rodeo. for the first five, six minutes. And it really didn't get that the crowd was very quiet. I don't know if it was nervous energy or what it was, but it was kind of a ho-hum first period.
Starting point is 00:10:10 Perfect road game for Vegas. Yes. Like top seeds, high-flying offense. You just kept things dull for the first. The message got to, hey, let's just ride this thing out. They're going to be, oh, well, they're not going to be all over us. So I guess maybe we'll be following. A veteran crew over there, too.
Starting point is 00:10:25 Pretty veteran crew. Yeah, what do we say? There's 23 guys that have won a cup playing in the series. No. and Vegas is 12 Colorado's 11, something like that. They make it one nothing. And then Mitch Marner. Magic Mitz, double M.
Starting point is 00:10:41 Mitch Marner, mighty mouse. So many M's. We talked about the other day. Were we kind of being tongue-in-cheek, not giving him credit or we're... It was me running everyone's... Oh, look at Mitch. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:53 Well, Mitch had to play Boston, Tampa, Florida, of the first round every year on a team that didn't have winners. I don't know that Mitch Marner is a totally different reborn cat so much as you get to roll up a couple 92 point teams and he's slotted properly. He's playing on second line. Like he's, Eichl does heavy lifting. He gets to eat. They put him with what, Howden and Dorofaev?
Starting point is 00:11:19 Yeah. And they've just been awesome. A little bit everything on that line. I can't decide if you're giving him credit or take it. Yeah, I don't know. I think he's playing better. So here's the power play. Hurdle gets it to Marner.
Starting point is 00:11:29 This is a hell of a play. Zoop. To Dorofiav who gets it off in a hurry and Marner. Again, not regarded as the most rugged guy, but he takes a pretty hard check here, but still makes the play to make the play happen. Wedgwood's
Starting point is 00:11:44 going the other way, and that makes it two nothing on the power play. And it was, that's what it's like, ooh, I think everybody even in the building, you're watching on TV. Okay. Okay, you got my attention now. We're maybe in one here. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:12:00 If you're not given, if you're not giving him credit or, and I don't, I don't know that, when does that happen? When do you start to look at it and say, okay, well,
Starting point is 00:12:10 maybe, I just think that Leif's, he's always been a very good player. And it's just that market was so toxic and that court didn't win. And so people were trying to say he was never that good and now he's better. It's the same guy. But part of the knock. But part of the knock is,
Starting point is 00:12:24 though, that playoffs come and you can't depend on him. Well, he's leading the playoffs. and scoring. He's got 19 and 13, 14 of those points are on the road. He's making, he's making Vegas better. Well, I go along for the question.
Starting point is 00:12:39 I should argue with you to say he's slotted differently. Well, he's one of the top paid guys. He's just, like, and he's playing with talented players still, and he was making. You could argue more talented. Like, would you try to more talent? Well, I just think like the guys in Toronto, that core, no one ever thought they weren't good in the regular season.
Starting point is 00:12:56 But what happens when we start talking about the playoffs? William Nealander this, Austin Matthews, that, Morgan, like, you go through that roster and you just tear these guys apart for not being spring players. He's suddenly on a team surrounded by guys that have rings, all of them. Half the roster's got rings there. Like, he led the forwards in ice time. Yeah. So it's not like he's in a secondary role. No, I just mean like he's not on Eichl's line, which, you know, that's good and bad.
Starting point is 00:13:19 You're not going to get the Eichl plays, but you also aren't going to get the Eichl matchups. I'm impressed. I'm impressed. I'm impressed. They don't need. and he doesn't need to impress me. I mean, who the hell am I? One of the most influential internet hacks out there. That's right.
Starting point is 00:13:36 And if in Toronto's like, Jesus, great, you know, what a hell, what a voter buddy Rosie thinks. He's a big, Martin. How dare you? Who do you think you are? Thank you.
Starting point is 00:13:48 That's kind of more my take on it, is that he was never as bad as he was vilified to be in Toronto. And of course, if you get out of that toxic spot with a group that couldn't win, now it's like well look he's changed what if he's just a good player
Starting point is 00:14:02 and a different good team that actually knows how to play in the spring you're still confusing me with your take so I don't yeah I don't really know what I'm kind of saying he's good but he wasn't good is he a different player the same player I guess that's the real question because like he's always been in the league distributed of the puck that maybe he's a little bit soft
Starting point is 00:14:17 but could make plays pile of points when he's hot and it changed or just the surroundings that's really what I'm trying to get at well what I'm getting the league and scoring in the playoffs yeah but if you played nine games he wouldn't be and that's where Nathan McKinnon is like he's played 13
Starting point is 00:14:33 versus 10 or whatever it is. So are you saying he's good? I'm just saying I think he's the same player in better surroundings that's all. Well, okay well then I can argue that well he's playing with frickin Tavares or Matthews or like whoever it was in Toronto it wasn't scrubs. They were
Starting point is 00:14:49 in the spring though was kind of the point right? In the regular season those guys were always good of pawn points. But now he's doing it in the playoffs. So it's just that he's on Vegas. Is he a different player or is surroundings better or is it both? That's sort of the way I pegged the conversation. So what's your answer to that?
Starting point is 00:15:07 I think he's the same guy. I think the surroundings are way better. I don't think that group gets tight if they're down or they're trailing in a series. If you're in a room with 12 guys with Rings Red versus Zero, like tell me about the vibes in the room in the playoffs. I don't know. No, but you've been on teams where you've got, you get surrounded by guys that have won. No, I haven't not.
Starting point is 00:15:28 So none of the teams had a bunch of winners? No. Okay. Like Brian Scruelan won a Stanley Cup and he would have been our only Stanley Cup guy in Florida. A little Buffalo. No one. Really? No one.
Starting point is 00:15:40 And in Calgary, Stefaniel? Yeah. No, we were the scrubs. So you were the green guys. We were the scrubs just trying to hang on. There's no real answer to it. What is what is happening is the guy is playing well. And it's, is it a coincidence?
Starting point is 00:16:00 I don't know. I think he's got it. There's got to be part of him that's happy to be away from that spotlight, all that scrutiny and pressure and leave. And you've always said, if you can't, well, don't go to the grocery store then. Then just stay home. But there's, there's something that's a little more relaxed. The irony is that he's had one of his more pedestrian regular seasons.
Starting point is 00:16:19 He was 80 points. Yeah. And he was the guy you could put down for a hundred in the regular season in Toronto. And then he wouldn't see him in the spring. And now he's having the monster spring. got to be happy for Mitch life's good right now getting bounces is fun
Starting point is 00:16:31 this was the 3-0 goal the uh ben Hutton I believe it is is in the penalty box and the abs are on a power play it's the end of the power play an old uh I think it's Sam Malinski all Sam Natius back to the point Sam's going to let the shot go
Starting point is 00:16:51 it hits Howden in the skate and bounces right to Hutton coming out of the out of the box shot save it happens so fast another bounce it lands right on his tape base howden gloves it knocks it down and gets a stick on it before it goes in i mean he's on a heater right now him and new hook are the like what which high is red hot yeah it's howden's third game winner and he's got goals in six straight road games wow and he's on that line obviously he's not with with marner there but you know you're getting the balance his shot block right to the guy as he's getting out of the box
Starting point is 00:17:33 rebound right to the guy hits his glove I'll get the bounce and I'll tip it all before it goes in so maybe just not Colorado's night well so if that's Kail McCar shooting the puck maybe it's a different play than Sam Winski how dare you Sam's I love Sam McArr took morning skate he's been averaging 20 basically 25 minutes a game and he's one of the top five three to whatever in the world at what he does you can't replace that they try i mean old breck
Starting point is 00:18:05 koolak he played 23 minutes david braves had 27 and a half but then it's old brent burns we all we love him he's 40 some right plus yeah he's four years old jack o's john joshmanson johnson sam melinsky it's okay but it's different it's not the same you delete a superstar perennial Norris candidate, you're going to notice it. Yeah. Like if you take Quinn Hughes off the wild, you're going to notice, right? Yeah. I don't know. It's weird because he finished game five, but he clearly did go for some attention in game five against Minnesota.
Starting point is 00:18:43 Are you getting cute trying to buy extra time? Do you think he's going to be significantly better if with an extra two days off? Is he lost for the series and they're just playing it like it's day to day? I don't know. Like it's a big mystery box. A little bit of the Gerdano go for warm up. well it was kind of like the last series with the wild uh brodine uh is injured he's uh day to date he had surgery he was he was not coming back at all yeah it is the it is the season of misleading everyone with spent and and just blatantly lying about injuries yeah yeah but uh regardless
Starting point is 00:19:18 this series has now got a little bit of teeth to it even if you still might still be Colorado in five but as we sit here today they're not waiting at five all right doesn't feel like it? No, I thought they were sloppy and not great, but there's also a lot of poise on the Vegas side. And the marner piece is interesting because it's like, we can get outplayed, but there's a guy that can, you can hold them off the score sheet all night, but one play, it's like, shit, there it is. You know who doesn't like losing? Nate McKinnon. Yeah, he was a little Kurt post game. It's a good, yeah. Did he get fined? Kurt, I don't think he'll get fine. No, I don't think he'll get fined. He was allowed to speak to the media. They opened
Starting point is 00:19:58 the room. He did speak. Per regulations. Got to be careful. If you're, you got to, you know, get your, keep your hands up.
Starting point is 00:20:05 If you're part of the media, it's like, all right, just log. Duckins. Vegas. Nate, just a couple things here.
Starting point is 00:20:10 Just, I think it was kind of questioning. What, uh, what was happening? What happened? At the end of the game, what's,
Starting point is 00:20:16 what's going on, Nate? This thing to really take from how that game did or is this? I've just said execution like five. I think that's, I think that's what hers. he's got the uh the ret warner school of uh media which is don't stop asking the stupid questions he clearly had heard enough about what didn't go right yeah well how often can he say it i i do like it i think
Starting point is 00:20:43 he reached he reached his quota ret to be sure i do believe that i've given you an answer to that same question that you're reworded into a different type of question but it's the same five times execution you're trying to get me to say something what would you like me to say just Hammy and cards with it written down. And I'll just read it. And then you've got your clip and then you can move on. Crowfoot Dodge, Crofoot Chrysler. Crowfoot, Dodge, Chrysler.com.
Starting point is 00:21:07 Crowfoot Dodge. It's the, up at Crowfoot. Crowfoot rise. Number 20 Crowfoot rise in the Northwest. New ownership, new energy, same great Northwest location. It's Crowfoot Chrysler Dodge Jeep. Ram, all part of the Capital Automotive Group. The focus is simple, making buying a vehicle easy and enjoyable.
Starting point is 00:21:24 Doesn't seem hard, doesn't? Big selection of trucks, SUVs, everything in, between and a team that'll treat you like a neighbor, not a number. Whether you're upgrading your ride, just browsing for four puck drop, crowfoot building something fresh and worth checking out. It's no drama, no run around, just solid vehicles and solid people. It's crowfoot Dodge. Crowfoot, Dodge, Chrysler.com, 20 crowfoot rise in the northwest.
Starting point is 00:21:47 Good people up there. Capital Automotive Group, doing good things, taking care of people. Go and say hi to crowfoot. Also be great to stop by Bon Ton, grab some meat. out on the grill. What? Grilling tonight? Beer can chicken. What are we doing? You have to get potato salad anyway. That's a plug it to. You got to pick up some potato salads, so you may as well.
Starting point is 00:22:05 Meat pie for the ride home and then whatever everyone else needs. Yeah, that's, I'm parking lot meat pie. I'm going to say, we might need a nap at some point here. Yeah, just kind of before we get rolling. The meat pie is nothing. I can get through that on a drive. It's when I dig into the beef ribs with the sauce
Starting point is 00:22:20 and the steering wheel is sticking. I always worry about because the seed jack, the meat pies are all they're ready to eat nice and warm and you can't you never know about the inside right piping hot so if you dig it oh you're driving oh and your driver very dangerous so I make sure when I'm getting my meat pie on I'm in park get you've never had the meat pie have you I think he's been no I'm dirty dog even then what hell's the matter with you is that guy on he's on.
Starting point is 00:22:59 Is there any of raw? Do you want to say something? No, I wanted to go to what happened to you yesterday because that was the most excited of my life. I was texting with noodles and I was going to, I'm just going to set. Got time today. That's fine.
Starting point is 00:23:15 I think you'd like to hear about it. There's some conflicting. It's whether or not to show it. But I feel like I have to. It's, we've edited the name out. Good. Could be anybody.
Starting point is 00:23:27 McLeod lost. fire away. Crystal Waters, plumbing and heating brings you our guest hotline. Safe to say spring is here. Starting point is 00:24:12 And if you could say, Bsci-87-317-15-51, check them out at crystal clearcallegro.com. To the guest hotline we go for Crystal Waters plumbing and heating at Jamie McClain. Hey, it's. What's going on? What's happening?
Starting point is 00:24:26 I don't know. How we doing? I'm listening. you guys, you tell me what's going on. Am I? You're a sucker. Roped into playing in some of those, like the Gordy Howe tournaments here this weekend. So there's a bunch of guys playing hockey.
Starting point is 00:24:38 You ever get roped into, not roped into, but play hockey anymore? No, I drew my pads in the river when I retired. Which river? I don't know. I can't remember. The Norse of Saskatchewan, it's right in. Beautiful. Yeah, it's beautiful.
Starting point is 00:24:53 A shopping cart at the bottom of the North Saskatchew. Oh, I mean. I don't play hockey anymore. I don't know. I retire. And that's it. I don't know how many times people would be like, hey,
Starting point is 00:25:06 can you come out on a Tuesday at midnight? No. I'm like, no, I'm not doing that. I don't play goal. The last thing I want is people shooting at me. And then you get the weekend heroes that,
Starting point is 00:25:18 oh, hey, we got an NHO goaltender. I used to be. I'm not anymore. I don't have the reflex. Guy's going to rip one at my head and I got to dive out of the way.
Starting point is 00:25:26 I'm not having it. I just have a full class. lounge show here in Calgary this weekend because you get a bit of a drunk downtown office folk playing against the NHL guys so excited given her shit right happen is there's some hero that'll hit somebody from behind and then the NHL guy will snap and beat them up and then it's the Nick Tarnaski in the gulp tournament yes well that's right I look I look forward to the robin regere video that'll be Robin regier or Rhett Warner has an incident whoever you're playing And you'll be, you'll be, uh, internet's sensation.
Starting point is 00:26:02 I don't know if you would have heard his kid got drafted to the Tigers. Reggies? Yeah. I get, I have a couple good friends that are still, you know, in managerial positions in the Western Lake. Struddy's boy went to, um, Tri-Cities in the fourth round. I believe your boy went the year before, correct? And then I heard Reggie's boy went. I'm not sure.
Starting point is 00:26:27 are they both are they mutants like him too are they eight feet tall or whatever well the one boy why yeah the one boy he's a volleyball player and he's like a six-sixer he's spiking it yeah uh It was there one that's hockey's not as tall, but I got to imagine it's far off. Probably got his dad's bite, which you know, the mean, mean as a snake. Oh, yeah. Well, I remember he was telling us, talking about beer league. He said, yeah, I went out one time and I was playing. So, right, well, whatever. And somebody started running around.
Starting point is 00:26:55 They're going to, oh, they're going to have. So he had to let a claper go and buzz the tower on the goalie, put it off the glass. It's like, oh, shit. That's why I don't want anything. No. In my mind, it's funny. When I played in the NHL, I would go home. I don't know why.
Starting point is 00:27:11 Instead of going to like Vegas or go, you know, south to the Bahamas, I would go to Edmonton for four days and I'd be drinking with my buddies. And one time I went out to their beer league game. And in my mind, they're all the same as me. We all played together in Bantam. So you're like, hey, my buddy who's in oil and gas, Bobo, he was a pretty good player back then. I'm watching these guys horrified that they can only turn one way.
Starting point is 00:27:35 They can't turn the other way. They take 10 second shifts because they're 50 pounds overweight and all of that. Like I was laughing because I was like, oh, I forgot. I do it for a living. They don't. So did Bobbo let himself go or what happened? Oh, no. I'm joking about Bobbo's in great shape.
Starting point is 00:27:53 This day, he actually is quite a successful oil and gas guy. They have offices in pretty much everywhere, but Edmonton and Calgary and Red Deer, Teebo. Okay. Don't need the ad read. that's fine. Just wondering about Bobble. Yeah, that's good. Thanks.
Starting point is 00:28:07 Mad Reed, they do very, very well. But anyways, the point being is Bobble can't turn left or right. I can't remember which way. Hopefully one of them. I was so, like, in my mind, I was like, that's the guy that I was playing with in Bantam. We were the same. So, you know, you forget that people go different career paths. I feel like if you're a Reggie, like if you're the sheriff, hard to turn that off.
Starting point is 00:28:30 Like, if you're the dipsy doodler playing against. Oh, yeah. Try hards, whatever. Yeah. But if you're the sheriff, it's like, you're the sheriff, I can't just play a certain way. I watched Reggie be the sheriff one time at one of those Jerry Bruchheimer tournaments where everybody is oiled.
Starting point is 00:28:45 And Sheldon Surrey was taking one timers from the point and one buzzed the tower. I was playing D. I didn't play net. They wouldn't allow me to play a net. So it went between me and Reggie's face. And this is that one, 10 o'clock in the morning on a, you know, on a Sunday morning after we haven't gone to bed. Rough weekend.
Starting point is 00:29:03 Reggie was irate. And then there was some other, you know, some actor that was dipty doodling. And Reggie decided to just plant him into the boards. And I felt bad for that guy because he, it was basically Reggie sent a message, like knock it off. And this guy was dinking around out there. And Reggie was like, I'm not having it. I'm going to send a message. And he just buried this guy.
Starting point is 00:29:29 And I was like, I was an extra in Mystery Alaska. Sit down. I could see the guy. face. I don't know. I've seen him in movies and stuff. I can't remember his name, but he paid the price for some people acting up out there. Did the Vegas Golden Knights give you some faith last night that we've maybe got a series here in the West? Yes. Carter Hart has been outstanding since he got going under Tortorella. If you remember, he came back off the injury. One of the biggest things in Pinder, you could speak to it. Analytically, they were, they couldn't
Starting point is 00:30:03 get a save all year long. Yeah, they were good and expected Goldiff and five and five chances, but the gulleton didn't tell. They were Ottawa West. That's what they were. And couldn't get a save, you know, had some up and down seasons from some guys, injuries, all that. Tortoella comes in, and I think it was game two. He started Hart and didn't look back. And Hart really settled back in. I thought Hart was excellent when he needed to be last night. Some really big saves were Colorado was pushing and he kind of slammed the door on it. But the one thing that I've said all along and I'll be consistent with it is anybody I think is going to win, pick the exact opposite. Because I've been completely wrong since day one this year.
Starting point is 00:30:49 It's just been one of those weird years where it's like, okay, I can see that team really come. Oh, Pittsburgh, they're going to be last in the league. They're selling. I'm like, playoff team. didn't see, you know, a lot of things happened. But at the end of the day, the one thing I did say is if you get an injury to a top player, it's devastating. You know, ask Edmonton, ask some of these teams, ask Colorado last night.
Starting point is 00:31:12 You don't think you could have used Carr in every different situation. That's what's concerning because your depth can cover you. Colorado's still a very good team. But McCar might be one of the most irreplaceable players in, on the planet, period. If you were building a team. Yeah. Yeah, exactly.
Starting point is 00:31:34 He's in that conversation. Five top ten, yeah. If you're building a team, there's five guys you're probably in there and McCar's one of them. So that's what we're talking about, a cornerstone piece. And I didn't think
Starting point is 00:31:47 McKinnon had his goods, but he looked dangerous at times. They are a dangerous team because they made it three, two, and I was like, okay, we might have a game here. Yeah. I had it left. But Vegas didn't waver.
Starting point is 00:32:01 Storyline, I know it's big in the world, but it's big out here in Toronto. Mitch Marner looks great. I mean, that past year. That's elite. That's elite stuff. So, you know, I wouldn't sleep on Vegas. I still had Colorado getting through,
Starting point is 00:32:19 but again, I had Tampa getting through. You name it. I had many teams getting through that didn't get through. So Colorado, or sorry, Vegas put people on notice last night. Okay, so we talked about off the top of the show. Has something changed in Mitch Marner or his surroundings just way better for Mitch Martin in the spring?
Starting point is 00:32:39 Probably a little bit of both, but I would say the surroundings, definitely. He doesn't have to be the guy. He's one of the guys. And he's probably the most unique talent on that team because we know Ikel's got the big shot, great skater. You know, Stone is really hard on the board. boards. Their superstars are unique. And I would say Mitch Marner is probably the most talented out of all of them when it comes to puck play and vision and distributing the puck. So he might be,
Starting point is 00:33:09 and we saw it last night, he might be the missing piece for that group. You know, Dorofaev is a shooter. Brett Howden, you know, tough to play against. They've got depth. They're hard. Their deacon move the puck. And as I said before, the goaltending needed stability and hearts provided that. So I look at Mitch Marner coming to Vegas. It might have taken a bit for him to settle into the Western Conference compared to the Eastern Conference. They played him at Center Ice a lot, which was, man, you know, you're thinking, why did they move him to Center Ice? But everything that has happened for Mitch Marner for a reason, it's not like he was terrible in the playoffs for the Toronto Maple Leafs. What happened is that core did not get it done when the chips
Starting point is 00:33:55 were down. That's a difference. Mitch Marner had great plays and he had had things that you're like, okay, that's special players do that. But when it was a game seven, when you got pushed, you know, into a physical confrontation, Boston was heavy on them, Florida was heavy on them, Tampa would be heavy on them. And they wouldn't have an answer in last year or two years ago, we'd call it now, games five and seven, they got pushed out of the games by the Florida Panthers. And The thing that I would defend against for Mitch Marner, it wasn't just him. It was Neelander. It was Matthews.
Starting point is 00:34:33 It was Tavares. It was all of them. And that core, as a group, just didn't work. And they were stubborn and they tried to make it work. It didn't. So Mitch chose to move on. But he's just in a different setting now. I think the pressure is different.
Starting point is 00:34:47 And not just the pressure from the media and the fans, just the pressure of being in that organization. I laughed. I don't know if you guys saw. Tortorella and McCriman's presser the other day. Yeah, like, hey, we're apologized for this and we're not going to talk about it again. Move on. That's it.
Starting point is 00:35:06 My favorite was McCriman said, yeah, John and I both spoke on this. And John hadn't said a word. And then we won't be talking about it anymore. He's like, okay. It's like, that's it. Like they just, they, their whole focus is we're trying to win. Don't care what you think. Literally, don't care what you think.
Starting point is 00:35:23 Don't care what you tweet. don't care what the media is. The league here, taking a second rounder 100 grand, so be it. We're just going to win games. That's all we're going to do and we're going to make no apologies for it. It is, you have to applaud them for being consistent. Whether you like it or not, that's different,
Starting point is 00:35:41 but they are consistent. They do not care. They are all about winning today. Butch Cassidy, you're not getting it done next guy up. Mark Andre Fleury, face of the organization, you've got to go. Mars is so, you got to go. Neil, you got to go. Like it was just like it's that sociopath. That's as a
Starting point is 00:36:00 manager going, don't care about the feelings, this needs to happen. And that's how they manage. That's how they run their show. And it is, I know the, we've never really seen a team block permission, at least you can't think of an example. And there used to be a pathway where you would say,
Starting point is 00:36:16 okay, RET's under contract. I'll give you a third. You allow me to sign RET. They took that ability to compensate, which is what you see in the NFL. Oh, you want to talk to our coach we fired, give us a third rounder, we'll let it happen. They took that out of the playbook. And now Vegas is like, well, look, if you have to ask us permission, clearly we have the right to say no. And in your, you know, characterization of sociopathic GM, like what at all costs? Who's your biggest rival in the Pacific?
Starting point is 00:36:42 Yeah. So why are they trying to help them? What's four and a half billion bucks? Yeah. You're a billion dollar franchise and you're going to theoretically hurt your, your biggest rival in the division. I mean, from their perspective, it's just, Just like the LTAR stuff, it's just like being absolutely cutthroat with faces of the franchise. I win at all costs. Yeah. And that's, it is, I know people are mad about it. I said the coaching association put that out.
Starting point is 00:37:07 The only thing I would say is people should be afforded the ability to work. That's the only thing. And that's, you know, labor lawyers will talk about that. He is getting compensated. That's the one thing. You know, it's not like he was fired and he's not getting paid. He's still being paid for one more year. That's their argument is,
Starting point is 00:37:24 hey, you got the golden parachute. You've got a package. You know, you package. There's a timeline where you can't work for a competitor type of thing, a non-compete. So they're holding true. It's just,
Starting point is 00:37:36 you know what it is? If this was the first time they were doing something, people would be like, oh, that's unique or whatever. This is Vegas. We just talked about five different things of what they do. And it's like,
Starting point is 00:37:47 no apologies for it. So be it. I mean. Or the car service for Gerard Gallant when you let him go. There's a, Jerry, here's an Uber. You know, like, it just, I don't know if other organizations should feel that they need to be more cutthroat or is just Vegas the outlier. I think it's good to have a, they'll lead the way, right?
Starting point is 00:38:10 A bit of a, whatever. Heal? Yeah, that's the word. This is a villain in the NHL. And they kind of maybe had lost a bit of that villainous reputation, but now you get torts in who's combative with the media. I think it's great. I think it's entertaining. I love how they do it.
Starting point is 00:38:26 I think it actually, I don't know that other teams are copying. Maybe they should, but they're at least have to be going, hmm. Well, here's an example. We had Brad Tree Living on our show yesterday,
Starting point is 00:38:40 and I asked Tree, I said, if you noticed the pressure or some of the things that have happened around the league, has there been more of a pressure point that you've noticed? And I'll give an example,
Starting point is 00:38:51 is obviously Toronto moves away, from Tree and Chief and all of that. Edmonton coached fire. Vancouver coaches, you know, GM coaches, everybody's gone. Like, our people, is the pressure from above, and it's rightfully so,
Starting point is 00:39:06 different expectations and all of that. But our ownership, looking at this and saying, never more has it been important to win, or maybe they're focusing back on the actual prize. Like, we should be focusing on winning and not winning press conferences and checking boxes and doing all these things.
Starting point is 00:39:23 things. That's what Vegas does. They don't care about anything other than how are you helping us win today. So I don't know, has that changed or is it just because it's maybe more Canadian media, you know, Canadian teams that we're dealing with right now that it's more under the microscope. What a truce. He said that the, the thin line between winning has never been greater. And he said, he gave an example. And I thought it was a good example saying, look, at where we were in the Atlantic last year. There wasn't a team that was rebuilding. Everybody had done, he said,
Starting point is 00:39:59 there was four teams at the top, Toronto, Boston, Tampa, and Florida. And he goes, the teams underneath had gone through their rebuilds. And now they're there. He said, if they're not there, they were coming.
Starting point is 00:40:12 And he goes, look at the Detroit's and look at, you know, Ottawa, look at Buffalo. So he said, every team in the league was trying to get to the next level, including San Jose, including Chicago, who had gone through their rebuilds and are still trying to add to it. So he said, good players and players are hard to come by because the cap going up,
Starting point is 00:40:31 everyone wants to keep their own players. So he basically said, like there's never been more pressure, but it's never been a finer line between winning or losing because of the parity and the league, which I think is a fair assessment. And we can move on from Vegas, but I just as I was sitting there last night watching, I just, they'd be caller, okay, maybe they don't. win another game. Maybe they lose in five and it's been a great run. But when
Starting point is 00:40:56 they made the torts move and we had talked about them probably a good week to 10 days, they got nothing. They were flat as flat could be. And they got a good coach and Cassidy's a hard ass, this whole thing. He's won a Stanley Cup recently and they're going to, oh boy, they fired
Starting point is 00:41:12 him and Tortorella's going to come off. What's Torts going to do? I don't know what happened there. And maybe it's just guys getting a, okay, shit, we got to, maybe you need that. But the changes of the guard there has been a big success. How much Torz is responsible for X's and O's.
Starting point is 00:41:28 I don't know that there could be much of anything. Do you change your fundamentals? I don't have said it to everyone a million times. I don't think there's only so many systems you can play. What's your emotional a buy-in? And that's where Torz has got the guys going. Well, and the other thing too,
Starting point is 00:41:46 and McCrimand pointed to this, of how Torz treats everybody the same way. And I think behind the scenes, he's a lot better guy than people give him. Oh, he's supposed to be a gym. Yeah, like guys love him. But he's also very honest. So I, you know,
Starting point is 00:42:03 you and I can speak to Daryl Sunter honest. Sometimes you don't want to hear on a Tuesday in November, you know, how poor your play is. On a flight home from Dallas? Yeah, like, you know, you see him coming down the plane aisle and you're painting yourself invisible. It's not for you, right? Like, I get just, but that is, I think sometimes we see it like it's refreshing to just know where you stand all the time.
Starting point is 00:42:35 And I think Torz is a guy who will probably individually grab each guy and go, this is what I see out of you. This is how I want you to play. This is how when I see from the outside, when you're at your best, you're doing X, Y, and Z. And I'm going to hold you to that task. And if you don't do it, I'm going to take away some ice time. and I'm going to be hard on you. I think that's, that's fair.
Starting point is 00:42:55 And, you know, maybe it's a different approach than Cassidy. Hard coaches, we've talked about it. They have an expiration date. Cassidy did you hit his. The team looked lethargic. You know, Kelly McCriman came out in his media,
Starting point is 00:43:06 said we needed, we were not where we were at mentally and physically on the ice. We needed a change. So they identified it. The change has been the right button to press. Now, it goes hand in hand with the health of Carter Heart coming back.
Starting point is 00:43:21 You know, name me a good goaltender, and that's a great coach behind it. 950 makes everyone look good. Exactly. 950 makes everybody look good. 886 doesn't. So that's the difference. But the team's playing well and they've responded. So Vegas, you're right.
Starting point is 00:43:38 Maybe Colorado rinses them the next four games. I don't see it. I think that's going to be a hell of a series. So just to stick with the coaching stuff real quick, it felt like Cassidy is far and away the guy the Oilers, but they might be forced to roll down some different aisles of the coaching store. And then also what you think might happen in Toronto and what that might tell us about Chica's plan. So I think two different organizations, two different spots.
Starting point is 00:44:07 Totally. And so we'll start in Toronto. I think Toronto, if you're if you're John Chica, you're probably not recycling a veteran guy. I think you're looking for, you know, everyone's talking about this Carl out of, out of, D.U. And, you know, maybe a, maybe the next Dan Muse. You know, I'm going to butcher his name Worsowski, um, Worsowski. Now, you mean, do you mean, Dan the man? Dan the man and Dan the man who you robbed votes from in the Jack Adams, despite everyone saying he was going to be last. Yeah, he was no, he was, uh, he was third on my list. Everybody else was, everybody else was
Starting point is 00:44:45 sorry. Jack's going to hang up on. else was second and first. No, I'm joking. Like, Dan Mews did a great job. But why couldn't Toronto hire the next Dan Mews? They've got to find them. You know, you've got to find them.
Starting point is 00:45:01 So I've said this all along, and I am, Eminton needed to do what, Vegas did. They needed a coaching change in February because they were lethargic. They needed an ass kicking. It might not have worked, injuries, all of that. But point being, Ebbington needs a very hard-ass,
Starting point is 00:45:20 detailed coach. That's why Cassidy is, it's probably the perfect bill. Because he's really detailed. That's what that team is missing, the structure and the detail in their game, and somebody to hold them accountable. If I had a choice not named Butch Cassidy, it's Peter Lavie-A-Let for me. Because I think Lavie is a hardened, intense coach, but he's moderate enough to handle today's athlete. He's won before. His penalty kill, as far as from a structural standpoint, I do believe that Carolina still uses it or some form of it.
Starting point is 00:45:56 Like he's a very detailed, hardened coach. And I think that's what that organization. So if there is a plan B, I'd be looking at it. I know Craig Barubi's name is in there, but I just don't know if Craig is detailed enough in his structure for that. That team needs more detailed than it needs anything else. So that's why I would be happy.
Starting point is 00:46:18 heading down the Labby Road or the Cassidy Road ahead of Craig Barubi, who I think is a fantastic coach. But I think there's just a there might be a separating factor, and that's where I'd be looking at. You mentioned Carl. Is there anyone else that you'd have on the sexy young progressive Canada? Because Mahaltra's going to be Vancouver's guy. That's not the mani Malchra's the era parent.
Starting point is 00:46:37 It's interesting. I'm going to an H.L game, what day is it Thursday? I'm going to the Marley's game tomorrow night. Drop in the puck? What's that? Drop on the puck. No, I'm going to be the mascot. Singing in the anthem?
Starting point is 00:46:48 pick up an extra $200 bucks. No, one of my close friends, Mike Dick, is the assistant coacher. And Gio's an assistant coach there too, Mark Giordana. So I'm going to go watch them live and check out game two for them. But I think the biggest thing is scouring the HL, there are some really good coaches that are on the cusp of making the next level. I don't have those names because I don't know that league,
Starting point is 00:47:18 well. It just, but I do think there are good progressive coaches out there that the Leafs have to look at. Or maybe there's an assistant coach somewhere. Start promote my old D partner, McKee. Yeah. Jason. I've heard his name several times and really well liked. Now, I believe, isn't he in the Ann Lauer space? Well, Ann Lauer owned Hamilton, which turned into Brantford, the Bulldogs, and then, so yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:47 Yeah, so I always, I always felt like, because I do believe they need a new HL coach, and I thought I heard Jay McKee's name in that, you know, whatever, the ever Twitter, you have Twitter sphere of sentence talk. So maybe that is, but Jay McKee is an up and coming coach for sure. And he's a good guy. Great guy. Guys love him. Wasn't it you and him that mess with Marty Breron's helmet or?
Starting point is 00:48:15 Yes. We need the story. or maybe noodles. No, I just heard the story. I remember that. But anyways, but it just, yeah, there has to be, if you're Toronto, there's options out there. But again, I got to come back to,
Starting point is 00:48:30 I know nothing about the team that Chica is going to build. Does that include Austin, Matthews, William Nylander, Matthew Nyes. That's still a hot talk. What a mess they got to. But they, but, you know, you're hearing out of insiders saying everybody's on the table except for Matthews.
Starting point is 00:48:47 well, then, you know, what does that mean? That Easton Cowan is a good up-and-coming player. Matthew Nyes, who's coming 24 and on a cost-cust-certainty contract. Is he available? And maybe you can turn things around a little quicker as far as getting- They've got good assets to move. You've just got to be willing to move them. And you can look back over the history of the game.
Starting point is 00:49:07 And teams that move guys, when they're valuable, have success. Yeah. Or the teams rebuild faster. Yeah. Well, you get McKenna and or, you know, Stanberg or whatever his name is, you get them. I don't know. I mean, that's the spicy
Starting point is 00:49:24 meatball for me as Vancouver's at 3 and that's where, isn't that where Mahaltra's son is rated in there? Yeah, I mean, and they need center badly in Vancouver. It's a perfect fit. Do you want, Manny's probably like, I don't know if I want to coach my son. Ryan Johnson was asked about it and he said there's no concern about it, which maybe when you haven't hired Manny
Starting point is 00:49:43 yet and you're so far out from the draft, that's what you say. or he just knows the character of the family and says this is a non-ish. Yeah, well, it's just... I'll give you an example. You guys know, I love Dave Lowry, played with him, coached with him. Adam Lowry is salt of the earth. Like, legitimately, one of the most, the best leaders I've seen and a great captain, you know, all of that. You know, probably should interview Adam how tough it was to have his dad as the head coach in Winnipe.
Starting point is 00:50:12 That's what I was going to say. It's not that the dad can't coach. the kid it's the kid can't handle the dad coaching it's harder on the plane for sure you're sitting at the back of the plane after a game and you know not everyone's happy with the coach and some of their decisions that particular night and it just happens to be your dad like that's a it's a tough situation so that that was very interesting for me because i don't think that's just a slam dunk that vancouver would just grab manny's son regardless of how great he is it's just more about the how how we we're going to make this work and not so weird for the dad and the son?
Starting point is 00:50:52 Well, and I mean, I think the whole truth, because McKee actually coached the kid and told me, he's like, this kid is a stud. He's really, really good. He's going to be awesome. So, man, he's one of the most respected, classy guy. Like, you know, all of the above, the Mahaltrow family, great. But again, doesn't mean it works perfectly. Yeah, exactly.
Starting point is 00:51:13 And like I've said here with the flames dropping back. to sixth in the draft. I'm like, oh, this is BS. You're not one piece away. Yeah. Same as Vancouver.
Starting point is 00:51:24 It's like, yeah, we need a sediment, but we're not one piece away. But Haltrow coming at D. Yeah. So. I still think,
Starting point is 00:51:33 depending on what Toronto does, if they just take McKenna, but the order might be screwed up because there might be a team that values a D-Man over a forward, all of that type of stuff. And they feel like on their, their draft board, it's a toss. San Jose. San Jose D. They've been surprised anyone.
Starting point is 00:51:51 They got all those bloody forwards have been drafted in the last five years. So if they go off, it wouldn't say go off the board, but they draft a D, all of a sudden that upsets the Apple Car. Calvert is going to get a great player at six. It just doesn't know who because they, you know, I'm sure that they're doing their draft projections right now. Well, Connie hasn't done shit for months. He's been sitting around.
Starting point is 00:52:11 He paid those trades. When was trade deadline? Oh, I haven't heard from them since. March. I talked with Connie the other day. He's, man, all that guy does is work. So they're,
Starting point is 00:52:21 they're, I think they're, you know, boys, they're obviously a very ready group. And, you know, Pinder,
Starting point is 00:52:28 you're the one who's actually told me that Connie has a great draft record. Their last two drafts have been unbelievable. And that doesn't mean that you're getting a thousand superstars, but just if you redrafted them, 80% of the picks would be gone way higher. Yeah, that's good.
Starting point is 00:52:42 One two years up. Doesn't mean anything? It's still not good enough to play. No one's arrived yet, but like you start looking at a fifth round or leading the scoring in the NCAA as a natural freshman. You're like, yeah, that's about as good as you can do with a fifth round or one year out. Yeah, exactly. What do you got, Rex? Well, you were so right, and I rely on you for so much.
Starting point is 00:53:04 Dobush pisses the bed in Montreal, game six, Saturday night. Had another stinker. Yes. And then those bastards win another game seven where they don't deserve to. the hell's going on i i was concerned about dobusch at some point getting a lot of the bounces and i was like okay he's going to come back down to earth i didn't anticipate that upl you know he looked he looked uneasy in game seven didn't look comfortable didn't look you know and i didn't love the game winning goal there's lots of mistakes before it though i mean
Starting point is 00:53:38 lots of mistakes yep i i was hoping that i don't know you can refresh me but did they have her injury report did tate's Did they come out and say Tage Tom? I have not heard. They did exhumatings yesterday. But I would be stunned if he wasn't hurt. Yeah, like even that. He didn't shoot the puck.
Starting point is 00:53:54 He wasn't shooting. Like, you're on a two-on-one in overtime and you curl and drag two guys. Not just. Still and shoot. And still didn't get a short play. But I'm like, put that through the net. That guy, like, that might be, if you had your choice of players on a two-on-one with an open lane to the net, page Thompson might be
Starting point is 00:54:16 top five of guys you want on that side on your strong side to put it through the net and he did make a couple great plays to kind of And Dobish made a good right pad save but I'm like shoot that every day of the week so yeah that's tough the folks of Buffalo upset I got a text from somewhere yesterday I don't know could you guys give me clarity on this
Starting point is 00:54:39 I saw this online do you know if it's correct The NHL dictates the ice will be shoveled at the first even strength non-icing non-goal whistle after the clock passes 14, 10, and 6. Okay. So according to our recollection, if it was icing, and the rest were wrong to let the ice be scraped. Oh, before the goal. So they should push off the scrape if it's an ice. Which there was an icing, and then there was a long break, and then Dahlene turned it. So you're talking about overtime or regulation?
Starting point is 00:55:13 Because overtime, there's only one scrape. But you can regulate the one to three is 1410 and six. Like the people in Buffalo are upset that the ice was scraped or not scraped? It was scraped on an icing and the faceoff was in the Montreal zone, which allowed their players to rest. And the league's out to destroy the same. Again. You're right, Rhett.
Starting point is 00:55:37 But the only counter to I would say is they won the draw and have to it. Yeah, Sabers took advantage of that freshly scraped ice. Freshly scraped dice went right back to Dalline, and he made a little dipsy doodle. And you could tell he was going to, it was, it was a slow motion. It's just like you said with the Tage Thompson, shoot the puck. It's overtime. You get in the draw overtime in an ozone and you don't get it.
Starting point is 00:56:02 Yeah, they didn't get it to the net. Thompson tries to kind of had this, you know, this forehand wedge, whatever. Then he jumps on the play. Yeah. You know, instead of just holding middle ice, he jumps, and then it goes wide. And then I don't know. I, again, if Luchanan makes a glove saved there, we're not even talking about that. Like, that goes under his glove.
Starting point is 00:56:25 And that didn't go posting in. That went about eight inches inside the post. Like it wasn't, it's a curse. Same exact round. Same exact game. Same exact overtime. Same exact location on the ice and city hash. let one in against the penguins so they call them that's how he's
Starting point is 00:56:47 one noodles 2001 well I love Dom Dom is my son is eight Dominic Hasick is his favorite goaltender really you've taught him well then it's good parenting I love dumbed vodka and I I love Dom the goalie I don't know Dom the person which I've heard Matt Dom the person when I was playing oh knives at him I've seen all sorts of, you know, stories and comments about Dominic Hasick, the person. Dom, the goaltender is the best goaltender who ever played the game in the history of the NHL. I kind of agree.
Starting point is 00:57:25 Dom the person might not, you know, win. On the person now is very chill. He's laid back. He likes to shoot birds and fish and like 70 years old or whatever. Like, let him be. Yeah, like eventually people turn. So who was your guy when you were a kid? I loved Eddie Mio and I loved Mike Lute,
Starting point is 00:57:47 but Eddie Mio might have cost me being drafted by the Detroit Red Wings. And it's a funny story because, you know, my draft, I was ranked second in the draft. Number one was a guy named Mike Tortia from Kitchener. And then I was number two. And then Chris Osgood, I think, was number three, ranked. And then there was, you know, Marcel Cousinot. and a guy named Andrew Werner.
Starting point is 00:58:13 So, you know, leading to the draft, my agent had no idea where I was going to, he goes, you're going to go probably in the first two to three rounds, where your goalies usually didn't get picked in the first round as second and third round. So that year, that was the Lindross draft. You know, I sat with Eric. If you actually look at the video of Eric Lindrosse being drafted,
Starting point is 00:58:36 Eric had invited me. I'm sitting there. I'm actually sitting there with a mullet And it's forest gum. I was just going to say he's forest gum. He's freaking everywhere in history of this game. Yeah, I've got literally like in the background, like just sitting there. And I think my girlfriend at the time was wearing like a hat, some sort of weird hat.
Starting point is 00:58:52 And so anyways, you get all these draft interviews leading up. Detroit had interviewed me four times. And I remember being in this room and there was like 20 other scouts and, you know, everybody. And the question comes up. and my agent is like Detroit really likes you. There's a chance they're going to take you. And the question comes up, who is your idol? Who are your favorite goalies growing up?
Starting point is 00:59:18 And I go, oh, well, one of them played for the Detroit Red Wings. His name was Eddie Meele. And this scout, Nick Polanich. I think his name was Snap. Eddie Mio, that guy gave me an effing heart attack. Every time he was on the ice, he started screaming about Eddie Mio. And I was like, oh, my God. I go, well, I like them.
Starting point is 00:59:38 I like Grant Fear. I like Mike Liu. He's like, Eddie Fn Mio. Like he's like yelling. I'm like, oh my God. So I. So I was good. Here we come.
Starting point is 00:59:49 Yeah. Meeting. I was like, I don't know. My agent's like, how did it go? I said, I think it went well, but I brought up Eddie's, Eddie Mio's name. And this guy started yelling. He goes, why would you bring up Eddie Mio's man? I liked him.
Starting point is 01:00:01 I liked Eddie Mio. He was an idol. So then I'm not lying. My agent brought six guys to the draft. And I'm, I'm sitting. with one of my teammates and his name is Jamie Pusher. And so second round, the Detroit Red Wings choose from Luthbridge of the Western Hockey. Like my agent's grabbing my arm.
Starting point is 01:00:22 I'm like, oh, my God. He goes, Jamie, I go to stand up, Pursher. Oh, my God. That's amazing. Oh, hey, congrats me. Hey, boy, Timmy. So we give Pursher hug and he goes down, gets drafted. My agent looks at me.
Starting point is 01:00:38 He goes, I have no idea where you're going. I'm like, so, you know, the Islanders, it was 48th overall. That's where I went to the Islanders. After they took a five-minute timeout, too. So it was like, oh, should we take this guy or not? Who knows? He's got a really weird mullet. I don't know.
Starting point is 01:00:58 Well, I thought Fierzy would be somewhere in there. Oh, Fierzy was, for sure. But keep in mind, like, Fierzy was, yeah, I'm going to show you the picture I have right here. Well, we've got. It got it. You got this one? Yeah, we got it. You got that one?
Starting point is 01:01:13 Oh, yeah. Look at my hair. It's glorious. But yeah, Fierzy signed that for me. I won the Dairy Queen shootout when I was 12 years old. Tell us more. Curr, hi. I stopped everything.
Starting point is 01:01:26 You go and you face six breakways. And if you stop them, you move on to the next round. So then I would come back another game and I'd go against another goalie and another two other shooters. And I just never allowed a goal right through. Come on. The whole thing? Right through to the final. What a stunt. And that was the first game of the playoffs. Andy Moog started and Fierzy backed up. He came. I won it after the first, you know, after the first in a playoff game. In a playoff game. I went out to drop six breakways, three against, you know, one shooter, three
Starting point is 01:02:02 against the other. And I won the Dairy Queen shootout. So then they had Fierze come out and take a picture with me. And they mailed me, Fiersey signed it, and then whatever, I was 12, so 14 years later, Fierzy's my goalie partner. And they ran that on the front cover of the Edmonton son. I was going to say. So how do you remember me? When you and Fierzy are teammates, I mean, I was that's kind of crazy, right? From that picture, then you guys are at tandem. Yeah, we were tandem with St. Louis. And I was texting with him the other day because my son has a million questions about goalies. So, you know, I said to Grant, I said, you know, hey, my son's a big fan or whatever. And I got a card. I've been on eBay buying like goalie
Starting point is 01:02:47 cards now for my son and his book. So I bought a Fierzy and a Lundquist and a bradur and collectibles, man, that's the only thing. He's down at Palm Springs. He does the color for all the home games of the Coachella Valley. And I think he's a golf pro for a while. He's living his best life, just golf and hockey down. He's doing amazing. We have a mutual friend that we met up with and and hung out one night with it was awesome like fearsy and i we still stay in touch like it's not like we talk all the time or whatever but i shoot him a text he doesn't you know it's it's it's the guy's amazing i love the guy and he's doing a great job down there because he's not the most vocal guy so for him to be doing like color and analysis and that it's pretty
Starting point is 01:03:27 cool i i love him grant fear's one of the one of the good ones one of the i don't know if you guys have crossed past with him at all he's he's such a great guy very very cool. So are you, Jamie. Well, thank you. You are one of the good ones. True. All right. Well, I've got to get going. Yeah, go do something productive. Spill us double. Sorry about that. Because we're,
Starting point is 01:03:48 you know what, we've got so much to get to. Yeah, we're really busy. We're dialed in this time of year. It's heavy. Very busy. All right. We'll chat soon, guys. Bye then. There he goes. Jamie McClennan on the guest hotline of presentation of Crystal Waters, Plumbing and Heeding, your
Starting point is 01:04:03 crystal clear choice for home comfort. 5873171551 you can call there so what were these spring specials heard on barbair that they've got going there you can go online you can fill out the form they've got the websites that's a nice thing sometimes you go on this web is anybody going to see this if i send an email to the website it's just going to go into the ether and no one's ever going not at crystal clear calgary dot com that's basically like going and poking them on the shoulder hey puss I need some help right here for you that's how it's how it's Fellowsman, at my place, we got a water softener went in last week. Very nice. Hopefully stop with that big body rash. I'd go in a little hopper. Yeah, yeah, that fungal thing. Not that kind, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:04:48 Great guys. Can only do so much, Ryan. Yeah, fair. It's no do so much in there. Noodles. Do you know who doesn't reply to complaints or questions? Who's apparently city hall. Oh, that's just one, Nens.
Starting point is 01:05:05 You know, uh, Lots there. We could go down the coaching alley and playoffs. But like to me, you guys right there convinced me that even if it could work, you don't take Caleb at three. Because I think Manny is 99.9% the next coach of the Canucks. I don't think it's going to matter.
Starting point is 01:05:25 I think Steinberg's going to be there or whatever. Stenberg. I like Steinberg. I know you do. Love him. Big fan. But that was sort of my thought was that if we expect McKenna to go one, and we expect San Jose.
Starting point is 01:05:36 to go D and get their favorite of this group of five, that leaves Vancouver looking at Mahaltrow the top center. Or Stenberg, who's the most pro-ready, and there is an organization run by Swedes that's always loved bringing Swedes over, and he's a lot to like, Stenberg, playing against men all year and ready to go. Like, maybe it's like, okay, in a different universe, we might have taken Mahaltrow, but Stenberg's right here. It's so easy.
Starting point is 01:06:03 Yeah, it is one of those things. You can absolutely build a case. Like, of course they're going to take him because this and then you flip it. Well, there's no way they're going to take him because and for all the same reasons. Well, his dad and the whole thing, it is, it puts both of them in a tough spot. There's no question about it. And I agree with noodles and red. It's harder on the player.
Starting point is 01:06:24 Oh, way hard. And it's one thing if the kids, oh, he's a fifth round pick or we trade it for it. It's an HL deal or somebody comes in and it's the first round pick at top of the first round pick. If you're 32, but you're the kid on the team. You're a rookie and the coach is your dad. Well, and the coach is a rookie NHL. Right, right. So two rookies.
Starting point is 01:06:43 Two, right? Like Joel Quinville, Sutter, veteran coaches, Cassie, whoever. Yeah. Do they know how to handle a first round high draft pick? Probably. Probably. Man, he's never done. Probably.
Starting point is 01:06:57 Danny's never. Doesn't mean he can't. I'm not, yeah. Doesn't mean he can't. I'm just saying that. It's interesting the way. I doing this because he's my kid or am I doing it for the right reason? Or be too hard on him?
Starting point is 01:07:07 because he is my kid. I'm worried about bias. What about the end of the room? Like, are guys welcoming him into the inner circle if I'm the coach? And it's one thing for the kid, like Jamie talked about with Lowry there,
Starting point is 01:07:18 no matter how comfortable you feel you're being and in the back of the plane, you're always going to be a little bit guarded. Yeah. If you, before you shit talk, your coach or if you see around, you kind of do it,
Starting point is 01:07:30 which no good. That's not a good thing. And so just playing that down the line. If you say McKenna, one D-Man and Stenberg are gone in the top three. Like, I think we've kind of talked ourselves out of Caleb Mahaltrow being there at six. Maybe there's a world he is there.
Starting point is 01:07:47 Chicago could certainly use another puck moving D-man. Rangers as well. Or do they need center? I don't know. Mahalter went to the Rangers. There's a history there. That's right. The old man didn't work out. Great. But, yeah. He got injured. He wasn't a great first-round pick.
Starting point is 01:08:06 got injured Jesus Dean you're hard on people do a redraft he's not going to be picked there cripes but was he in the teens or something I'm trying to talk to
Starting point is 01:08:16 I gotta look them up you look them up I'm going to tell you about adrenaline source for sports okay if you're in the market for a new stick and I mean let's be honest
Starting point is 01:08:24 who isn't you got to check out the new CCM Jet Speed FT9 Pro available at adrenaline source for sports look at this thing what makes this one stand out
Starting point is 01:08:34 it's the feel CCM added there new Neosense fuse construction exclusive to the jet speed line, creates a seamless connection between the blade and the shaft, enhancing puck feel like never before. Hybrid kickpoint. So you're getting a nice balance, quick release when you need it, but still enough power behind your shots. Dual control blade, softer in the heel for better puck feel in passing, stiffer in the toe so you can easily lean into those shots. The shaft is made of allu-ply
Starting point is 01:09:01 composite, so it's super lightweight, but still very durable. You can be able to take some wax. If you want to get one, get your hands on, when you want to feel it for yourself, head over to adrenaline source for sports. Check it out in the shooting gallery. That's nice. It's one thing to look at it. Oh, these things. Does this thing work? Love the paint. It looks nice. It feels bad. It feels light. Yeah, it's great. And you get it out on the ice. This thing's, can't shoot this thing. They got the shooting alley in there.
Starting point is 01:09:27 Check it out. 9309 McLeod Trail South is obviously the south location. In the north, Northland, Village Mall, adrenaline source for sports. Yeah, he's a terrible pick. 991 games. How many with the Rangers? Not many. Would they get in trade?
Starting point is 01:09:46 He was a number seven overall. Seven, eh? 198. Yeah. Yeah, he played like, well, it was weird. Played two seasons in Gwellv. Got drafted. You don't want to rush him, you know?
Starting point is 01:09:59 Let him cook. Got drafted. No. In junior, I said, go ahead. This is the other area to be drafted. Then got drafted and immediately played 73 games with the Rangers. And then 27. Big numbers?
Starting point is 01:10:13 With the Rangers. Then 12 with the Hartford Wolpac. And five with the Guelph Storm. Got rushed a little, didn't he? Oh. That's odd, isn't it? I'm going to go play a whole season. NHL, HL.
Starting point is 01:10:26 Back to junior. I drew that one up. Well, I only played, I mean, I'm just looking here as well. It was five games in that 99, 2000. I know, but it's still Yeah, went down there for sure. What are you trying to say? You're probably Pinder here,
Starting point is 01:10:40 so you're saying that this is a normal course of action to become play almost two full seasons in the NHO and then end up back. What are you talking about? When does he move to Vancouver? Jesus, Ryan. What he's got to read? 2010.
Starting point is 01:10:52 Thank you. He goes to Dallas first. Okay. For Marty Richinsky and Roman Liyoshenko. He's claimed off waivers by Columbus, signed by Montreal. So he's a journeyman when he played with, The sharks for a season.
Starting point is 01:11:08 I've forgotten this. Yeah, he's a hurricane, 69 games. He's played, yeah, 991 games. That's awfully close to it. Yeah. What's just where in any of the last? Like, how many seasons? I would guess Vancouver, that could be way off.
Starting point is 01:11:21 Columbus. Was it Columbus? Okay. One, two, yeah, four full seasons. Five, five. And was there really integral part of those teams that were quite good in Vancouver? There's not been a lot of really good Vancouver teams last 20 years, but he was on, what, 2010, 11,
Starting point is 01:11:35 and 12, they were at their peak probably in the city and era. I'm not going to comment on Vancouver, Tanucks being good. You got an eye injury, right? He gets stuck. That was part of it too, right? That was a huge part of it. That was massive.
Starting point is 01:11:48 I felt like he, when he got to Vancouver, had embraced the bottom half of the roster role, whereas he was probably drafted to be a top of the roster guy. I don't know. At seven, you never know what. And you know, look, I mean, I'm having some fun with to take the piss out of the guy going,
Starting point is 01:12:01 because I remember, everybody loves Manny Malocher. That's why he, That's part of why he went that high. It's like, this guy's going to be your captain. This guy's a leader. This guy's this. Would not be a shock to see him behind an NHL bench and do very well.
Starting point is 01:12:15 He's going to be a behind one and fall on the question. I mean, it's, uh, if they go anywhere, any other direction of Vancouver, be stunning. Like what more do you want to believe? He literally coach your HL team to a championship with the guy you just named GM. Those are the two guys running that team. He knows the new co-presidents intimately well. He played with them. This is their guy.
Starting point is 01:12:37 Jack, you hungry? I'm hungry. Are you hungry? Just have another coffee. Yeah, that's have. You're not eating today, right? Oh. Day off?
Starting point is 01:12:48 Day off. All right. I already ate, though. Did you? You were here early. Oh, here early. I've never seen you here this early. Yeah, another else.
Starting point is 01:12:56 Tires change. I get the old. Hot weather tires. What else is going on? I don't know. What did you think of my sabers? What was me, Sabres fans? Got some Sabers, not.
Starting point is 01:13:11 You mean the scrape controversy? I guess I didn't really pay that close attention to it. Oh, but the people in Buffalo are, do you? So the rule that you read is the regulation rule. Is it the same rule in overtime? That's whatever. I ignored the person. Yeah, because it doesn't have anything to do with the goal going out.
Starting point is 01:13:29 You have a shift? Yeah. Because it's the 10 minute mark, right? 10 minute of overtime in playoffs is when you scrape. but I don't know if there's an exception for icings like there is in regular periods. It's a good thing. I mean, remember it used to be a big deal.
Starting point is 01:13:43 How we got to bring the Zamboni out? We can't flood. Remember, before the shootouts or whatever? Is it a dry scrape? Then we got to do a dry scrape. Or you could just get all those guys back out there with their shovels. They do a better job than the stupid Zamboni does.
Starting point is 01:13:59 What a sport. On ice, say. What a sport. Jack could be out there. I bet you with the new rink, they'd be looking for maybe some new members for ice choice you know what it is this is where I think chat will excel
Starting point is 01:14:13 because I know he likes to dabble in dabble I sent a thing to the group chat the enhanced games are on this weekend maybe there will be an enhanced hockey league the jacket the EHL yeah what does the enhancing
Starting point is 01:14:29 what are we oh whatever floats your boat that's the point you can do whatever you want enhance yourself with drugs Is the alcohol? Oh, all kinds of different. I thought maybe the part of gifts. Hawk was lighter or the,
Starting point is 01:14:43 I thought it was the equipment or Cigernets. Whatever. It's enhanced. Jackie, and do some roids. Become like part robot. Do some.
Starting point is 01:14:53 Maybe. Roids. Yeah, some go-go gadget arms. I don't like the robots. It's another one of those radio of, those robot dogs running people down. I don't like that. There's lots of,
Starting point is 01:15:06 a lot of the youth. are not happy with some some of these AI predictions about taking all their jobs. Yeah, I wouldn't be thrilled about that either. I would. I'm fine with it, yeah. Won't have to work.
Starting point is 01:15:20 We can just get money. How are you going to make money or of us? That would be my question. I need a good AI agent. Because my NHL agent was shit. Can't confirm. He's doing quite well. Terrible.

Starting point is 01:17:37 our boy Anthony shaking hands see else guys chatting it up polite that early yeah Big meeting.
Starting point is 01:17:46 Smack. I think Ping was running the meeting. Good boy. Fire it up for the day. Service bay. Buzzin. Good morning, sir. How are you?
Starting point is 01:17:54 Can I grab your keys? Tip top. Everything amazing. It's your dealership for life for a reason, Dino. Located in the Northwest Auto Mall. Out of the huge Canadian flag there. Let's go. Right off Sto.
Starting point is 01:18:06 Thank you, Villichota. Let's get started with the final from last night. It was the heart. This team plays with a lot of heart. Carter Hart and the Vegas Golden Knights taking game one from the Colorado Avalanche. Jack knows what the hot is from. This team plays with a lot of hat. Jack?
Starting point is 01:18:27 It was pretty random. I'm thinking. Yeah. Well, and he was almost dead then. No, but it was a while ago. Probably 10 years. It was 2011. It was the year the boss in a leg, oh, yeah, okay.
Starting point is 01:18:39 Wasn't it? 15, 15 years. I don't know. Jack, were you dead 15 years? It was the mayor. The mayor. Mayor Boston. Oh, that makes sense.
Starting point is 01:18:48 And he kind of had the Peter Griffin accent. These boys play with a lot of hat. Hat. Oh, Jack. Wake up, Jack. Come on. Carter Hart was great, continuing a strong run of play in the postseason. After incredibly mediocre numbers, 893.
Starting point is 01:19:07 The regular season. Just in stride, baby. You got to have context. Got to double back. Look it up in the spring. That's what it matters, boys. Colorado all of a sudden trailing in a series, first time that's happened.
Starting point is 01:19:17 I did one of the movies. We basically started the show or segment with Hark's is awesome. Yeah. That was good. It's been really good. You and Torts getting along, boys. It took.
Starting point is 01:19:30 You weren't spewing that three days ago. No, it was probably two weeks ago when he was not good that I was talking about how mediocrey. It was a couple days ago when we did our predictions and said, we had versions yesterday. See, I don't feel it's it like don't feel the need to crucify Ryan for having a Oh, I do because I like getting I know with them there are there are a lot of them not all them can be correct or accurate and that's fine if Carter Hart was hanging in 895 and I said he wasn't playing well does that mean when he goes 950 for three weeks that I was wrong or was I saying that he hadn't played well?
Starting point is 01:20:11 Well, I think you have. labeled him as being shit. It's been a few years since he's done anything, yeah, but this is a hell of a run. Did you want to jump in on the... I want to go ahead. No, no, no, please. When Jamie brought up Lavillette,
Starting point is 01:20:27 I was waiting for you to jump in with the... He's gone past the first round once in the last seven... I mean, I, how do we get to Laveolef's name coming up the other day? Did you remember? Me? No. It was who were the Oilers going to hire? Right.
Starting point is 01:20:40 And I said, La Volette, did I not? No, I did. I said, what about Lavialette? Jack edited that clip, so maybe I'm remembering it wrong. But you were, you were, anti- Anti-Lavillette.
Starting point is 01:20:54 I was sort of saying, like, I think I picked, did I not say it? This show is unbelievable. Boom, boom, didn't I say he was going to be the guy if they can't get Cassidy? Or did I say another? I think you did say that right. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:21:04 So like, after we talk. No, no, no. I think that's how the name came up. You maybe said he may get there, but you were not saying that was a good move. So again, I believe I brought up his name as a guy to get the job in Edmonton. So to be pegged is like, Pinder, why do you think this guy sucks? It's just, I'm a little weary that it'll work.
Starting point is 01:21:23 I do think he could get hired there because he checks the boxes they're looking for. Okay. Yeah. But it's just this what happens on the jury. I say something and then you can tort it to be, well, you hate live. Like, well, I literally picked him to get the job in Empton when he asked me. Well, you, but you do have a funny way of saying both things. I'm leery about how it's going to go.
Starting point is 01:21:40 So last night and he's unbelievable. Well, okay. Well, what is he? Yeah. And again, I think probably up until midway of the Utah series, not great. And since, awesome. So what is he? On a heater?
Starting point is 01:21:57 Elite. We'll see. I don't need to pin you down. You can do it to you. I like to wiggle around. It's hard to pin me down. It's the wet watermelon seed on the floor. Howden, howden.
Starting point is 01:22:08 He's been very good. You talked about the road goal streak, streak. Dino. Sixth player in NHL history with a six- game road goal scoring streak. That's the lead company. They've been playing the playoffs for a while. I've told over the last decade. Many, many years.
Starting point is 01:22:22 Who are the other people? Good question. They trotted on a stat last night. I think it was the regular season. Goals for against, they were like a minus two on the road or something. Vegas was. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:22:34 And now in the playoffs, they're a plus 14 or something. I think when torts got there, they were miserable. I think they hated. And honestly, like I agree. Which makes me go,
Starting point is 01:22:43 why would Edmonton want to hire him? Yeah, and I think that's exactly what it is with Cassidy, is that he's going to worry out, but you might get a year or two before guys check out, because they clearly had checked out on them this year, in Vegas. They were flat. Flat bleep, Vegas. Not under torts.
Starting point is 01:23:02 They have won nothing series lead. Vegas is the villain. They've done well, bringing guys in. You know, they trade all their first rounders, but they've still mined some good players. Here's Matt Larkin, were they spice? see you on. I don't know if I've ever seen a more perfect offer sheet set up than Pavl Dorofaev, one of 12 players with 35 plus goals last year and this year. 10 goals, 13 games of the playoffs. Vegas only has 4.6 million in cap space. No team
Starting point is 01:23:32 would invite less offer sheet sympathy than the Vegas Golden Knights. All those things are facts. Well, Jeff Merrick went on at great length yesterday on the sheet about how the oilers if they can secure their one pick from San Jose could be in line to offer sheet the Vegas to really show them. You don't want to give us. You don't want to give us permission. Well, we're going to offer sheet this in. Mike Greer would love that, hey?
Starting point is 01:23:57 We need that pickback. Perfect. First rounder in 29. Yeah. Oh, fuck. How did you see through my well-crafted plan? Interestingly, they have the petrangal money that's going to go on LTIR, but that's probably all earmarked for Rasmus Anderson if he's staying.
Starting point is 01:24:15 Dorofia is a hell of a play. He is. So I looked him up, 25, 6-1-195, not small, 35 goals and 37 goals the last two years, and almost a goal of game this postseason. He's making 1.85. This guy in the market's probably a $9 to $11 million players. He can maybe double that. Greedy.
Starting point is 01:24:38 You know, he's got lots of picks, Dino. Yeah, he's, really, Calgary Flames. So are you saying Offersheet? I think you have to think about it. I don't know where the threshold that would make sense to the flames because I don't think you want your unprotected first anywhere near an offer sheet. But what's the number for a second and a third?
Starting point is 01:24:58 And does Vegas immediately match that? That'll be the secret sauce. I don't think it, I think to make it painful for Vegas, you got to get them to that $9 to $11 million or something where we're a 40-goal guy is. And that would mean your first is involved. You can't be giving away your first at this point. I just, yeah, and just in general.
Starting point is 01:25:15 He's a very good player, but I just, the flames are not in offer sheet territory. If you get them, you're too young, you're too far away, keep your picks, continue to build. Yeah, like if you could get them without moving, like your first rounders the next few years are the most valuable things you might have in the organization. Yeah, like they, they aren't even humans yet and they might be the most valuable pieces yet. And I don't know. For Dorofi, I have 30 goals. Is he a 50 goal guy?
Starting point is 01:25:40 I think this is, you're seeing. pretty much what Pavl Dorothea. Back to back 35 goal seasons. Yeah. Sure. Maybe he hits 40 once or twice, but yeah, I don't know that he's a rocket Richard guy.
Starting point is 01:25:51 So get that out of there. To not use your first rounder 7 to 9.551. So if you, oh no, that's not it either. No, it's, you're cooked.
Starting point is 01:26:00 You're not doing. No, the flames aren't. So, but if you're a team, you got to go all in. That's picking in the bottom third of the first round,
Starting point is 01:26:09 yes, this makes more sense for you. What's the number that makes it real tough for them. 9.552. North of 12. Well, for four firsts.
Starting point is 01:26:20 Not during it. No, I think the 9552 is the pocket there. If you're a team like Colorado, I know they've traded all the first, but like, if you're going to be picking 25 to 32, who cares? Go get a 35 goal guy.
Starting point is 01:26:34 He's got a sign with you. Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh. Is it paid up all their picks? I believe they would. Yeah, they got lots of picks and lots of caps. Yeah. Interesting. Okay, keep moving.
Starting point is 01:26:44 Montreal Carolina goes tonight. Two goalies that have been stories of the playoff. Freddie Anderson was a story from two weeks ago because it feels like it's probably been that long. Is he injured? Is he back from injuries? Oh, he hasn't played out games. He's just a crazy little eight and oh.
Starting point is 01:27:00 Oh, I thought he was hurt for two. Was he 960 Dean? They just off for two weeks or he would, oh. Do I get to pin him with people saying Freddie Anderson sucked in that on anyone or do just move on? Off. Oh, pender Jesus. I was teasing you. Yeah, he's won all eight.
Starting point is 01:27:14 Can tie Grant Fear for the longest winning streak to open a postseason with nine. Nine. Nine fifty save percentage of one point one, two. A lot five goals against Otto. I think they'll add five again in round two. And there can be no greater discrepancy in games played. Montreal's been to game seven back to back rounds. Carolina swept the first two.
Starting point is 01:27:36 Max versus men. Think about that. Yeah. Whoa. Right? Yeah. Glad you're sitting. Wow.
Starting point is 01:27:42 Lightheaded. If you had a consmouth ballot and just, there's four teams left, how many former Leafs are in your top five? Because I don't think you can make the list of that, Freddie Anderson and freaking Marner at this point. And you may not think about Freddie Anderson, but it's because he hasn't seen him play for teams.
Starting point is 01:28:00 No, he was so good. He hasn't lost a game. He was so good against Ottawa. Old Ferdist face, Freddie. Yeah. Yes. All right. I'll tell you what.
Starting point is 01:28:13 There's also some good performances of Montreal from the young players. They've got this is the youngest team in the postseason. There's Lane Hudson, all-time fellas. First 19 playoff games, which Lane's clearly played 19. That's why the stat is framed this way by our boy, Frank, and or Frank. Fox, McKinnis, Hudson, Leach, Or, Bork, Quinn Hughes, Potvin, Zubov, Doug. Well, that's a hell of a list to be sitting third on. That is defending royalty.
Starting point is 01:28:43 He is he's tremendous to watch. He's unreal. He's hard for you, Retro. Is he good no? Is what? Flyers. That's a name. Oh, is he good enough? I thought you said, is he good enough?
Starting point is 01:28:56 Is he good enough? Is that a fake name? That feels like it feels like it's got to be. I do not ever remember hearing, but I'm thinking that goes back away. It's been to look it up, guys. Paul Coffey at the bottom of this list. There are Carlson, Bouchard, McCarr at the bottom. It's a good list of you at the top.
Starting point is 01:29:11 Yeah. Jeez. Is he? people sleep on out of fox man that team is awful this year he is an elite defender still good player no names matcher request yeah it feels like a fake name yeah franks come on frank what's going on here of course in philly right he's like uh is he good enough frank got that's got to be a nickname for a guy in philly that's an inside joke in philly for sure yeah or frank got fooled here i don't think frank We'll see.
Starting point is 01:29:40 Things very busy at Flames Nation.com. We do a lot of in-depth writing jack, and we never run out of things to, oh, we might be out of things to say. Oh, boy. Here's a story entitled, The Flames going from black to white chin straps and earloops was a big upgrade check.
Starting point is 01:30:01 You know what? Just close a laptop. Just Pike Tiggeday. I mean, it does look a lot better. I agree. Is this your contribution? Is this your article? Did you AI or this article?
Starting point is 01:30:13 No, I don't mean it. Imagine how far down the list of topics you'd have to get. And I'll say this for whatever it's worth. I just agree. Really? I prefer the black. Oh,
Starting point is 01:30:22 yeah, white's way white. Yeah. If you had black lettering, I'd be. I like the black with the black jersey. Sure. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:30:32 Yeah. You get the white numbers. But each do some though, right? Yeah. No numbered on this one, do you know? That's all right. I think we should have showed this. Well, it's just a reminder that it's never.
Starting point is 01:30:42 Now, can we go to the website to learn more about this? We'll just say, keep an eye on our social. Yeah, is this just some. Jack? Jack. Yes. Who threw this up? I actually have no idea.
Starting point is 01:30:57 Come on. I don't know if it's an article or Germany maybe. It's from the, it's from the social media. I think it's just social media. It was not me. You think I'm doing this? Well, I don't know. Who has that?
Starting point is 01:31:08 Germany. It's got to be Germany. He's the flames die hard. It's 100. It's 100. It's 90% German. That would make sense. You know what it reminds me of?
Starting point is 01:31:19 At the old spot, we'd come in and try to do four hours of sports talk during like the week of the major league all-star break. Yeah. When nothing was going. Yeah. It's always busy. Never boring. Busy, busy. Always things to talk about.
Starting point is 01:31:33 Always content. Yeah. Talk about the chin strap color. Good job, Bobby Germey. I don't know. I didn't even know it was a thing. Didn't pick up on it. Here's the thing that may or may not be a thing. Apparently, Samin Nemich, the highly touted defenseman of the devils.
Starting point is 01:31:51 He may or may not want a trade, depending who you ask. Or if you speak that. Which looks like Slovakian. Yeah. Apparently he's requested a trade. Sunny met of the new GM has yet. to communicate or offer him a contract says, well, he just got the job.
Starting point is 01:32:09 He's got their Simone files. And then, well, let's get another source here. Simon Nemich did not request the rights. Why does he have the thing over it? The S. The accent Aigu. It's not an umlaught, but it's close.
Starting point is 01:32:25 I don't know what that. It helps you with pronouncing what sort of sounds. It helps me at all. I don't know if you don't know it. Does that make the S an osh? Domash. Tomash. Tomash.
Starting point is 01:32:34 Remember Lisa ProCop? no there's two that played for the hitman brokeups okay came moving so did he or not we don't know obviously there's a lot of controversy
Starting point is 01:32:46 in Slovakia the question is what is he and because he's sort of been touted as a future star on the blue line and he's had some big games and I get a couple O T winners earlier this year for the Devils but then there's also are you actually moving the needle
Starting point is 01:32:58 or are we selling those two three games to other GMs if you're signing that or you just go back to that can you throw that one back up there Jack that the one on the white there with not Tomash but the other one with a bit of a language you know things can get lost
Starting point is 01:33:11 in translation whatever it's like oh so if you just put Simone Nimich has not requested a trade then it's okay then it's like one word can yeah that one whoops I forgot to say not Shimon and Tomash might be on the same page
Starting point is 01:33:25 but just one little typo don't type out as well Sunny Meda's got to get this he's got to get this shit figured out well he's got controversy now I think he's probably just learning Slovakian. Hi, Sonny.
Starting point is 01:33:37 We got Tomash on line one, Shimon on line two. Get's move. We have a contract extension to announce. Exciting. Hey, Lindy Ruffalo. Lindy. Yeah, that's, I mean,
Starting point is 01:33:54 what, you're going to quibble with this guy's season? Kid me? Who. It's up for the coach of the year. He's going to win it. Sinking noodles kept Dan Mews third on his ballot. So was this? Who had held it more than less than Dan Mews?
Starting point is 01:34:07 lame duck season or is he have one more and he's, I know it was. It was a two-year deal when he came in. So he gets another two or three I imagine. Well, but how was he able to do it as a lame duck? I don't know. Yeah. Incredible stuff.
Starting point is 01:34:24 Yeah. What a risk of Iran. Because he could have just left and gone anywhere right now. That's why the Oilers had to lock up old nobber there. Could have just run anywhere. Yeah. Maybe the sabers would be iron him today. Here's your contract, Lindy. Now we're going to Can you?
Starting point is 01:34:38 Congrats to Lindy. Yeah. And sorry about your future firing given that you're going to win the Jack Adams. And that seems to be a curse more than any sort of anything else, sadly. Remember Hartley won it, gone the next year? Oh, yeah. I'm sorry. This is a stressful job, these guys.
Starting point is 01:34:54 Very stressful. A lot of pressure now. Oh, a lot of pressure on them now. Yeah, we love pressure. Speaking of Buffalo article in the athletic today. I encourage you to read it. Kevin Adams speaks. He's excited about his next opportunity.
Starting point is 01:35:09 What are you laughing about? This guy just makes me laugh. Jack, what are you laughing about? I have Kevin Adams. What, Pierre Lebrun? No, I like Pierre.
Starting point is 01:35:16 Okay. Kevin now, he makes me laugh. Yeah, what are you loud? What's he selling on the phone there, Jack? Oh,
Starting point is 01:35:22 what's he selling you? What makes you laugh? What makes him funny? Yeah. What is he a clown? He makes he a clown? He's a very good GM. Oh,
Starting point is 01:35:31 is he? Yeah. Okay. Because you started laughing as soon as this. You ever watch Casino, Jack? Yes, sir. It's shot in a toe if you keep yippin. Watch yourself.
Starting point is 01:35:41 I just think it's funny, the whole thing with him. It is wild. It might be good fellows, but either way. Go get your shine box. Holes in the desert, be the casino. Yeah. Yeah. Sorry, Ryan.
Starting point is 01:35:56 They're good movies. Don't be as well just to me. This is good stuff. That's what Pesci comes at. What am I a clown? I make you laugh. I know. That's what I just thought that was before they went out to Vegas.
Starting point is 01:36:05 But you're right. I couldn't believe. what's his name's wife with Pesci? Jeez. Good. This gracious. That was some addiction problems. Yeah, yeah. That was casino.
Starting point is 01:36:14 Yeah, that was. So is this guy a good GM or a bad GM? Sam Ross. Pass. Pass? I'm going to do it again and I'm going to do it again and people are going to get mad. It's both. What are you going to do?
Starting point is 01:36:24 They're both. All of them are the same. I'm not, I don't mean it rudely. It's very rare that's one guy. I think beyond Bill Zito, it would be tough to find a resume where a guy. And Bill Zito hasn't been GM long enough to have failing. A good stretch with five, six, seven years.
Starting point is 01:36:41 Yeah, but he, why do you have to argue? Well, I don't know. Is that enough time for Judge Jim? Maybe I'm wrong. Well, not when you win, go to Stanley Cup three times in a row. Pretty hard to be on the downside. He made good moves. And they've been good. What happens when Marche and all these guys get older and he has to, I don't know, maybe he won't have failures.
Starting point is 01:37:02 But Jack, if someone came and said, you be the GM, guess what? You'd figure it out. Yeah. They're not building interplanetary rocket ships. I like how that guy plays.
Starting point is 01:37:17 I want to... Think about picking in the top ten is you get to pick one of us ten players on Earth every year and you should have a good team at some point if you continue to pick in the top ten. You did that.
Starting point is 01:37:30 Do you drafts from really good players? Yeah. Did he make some bad trades in there as well? Yeah. And to Rett's point? Is it a mixed bag of results like most NHLGs? Yeah. You could do it, Jack.
Starting point is 01:37:43 I believe in you. You got to learn to read. I was a little more leery because contracts is a lot of reading. It's going to be a long read because that CBA is a real, you're going to be a son of it. It is going to be an Adderall. You need the Adderall and some sort. This is the enhanced games for Jack.
Starting point is 01:37:58 Some kind of an app. It loves to something like a book reading app. Can we get the cloud lawn to help him with the reading of the CBA? He could really need. That's not going to be easy. a lot of big words in there. Maybe they have those old school books that we had when we were kids. Encyclopedias.
Starting point is 01:38:11 CBA for dummies. Yeah, it pulls notes, all those sorts of things. Congrats to the Montreal Victoire, Jack. I believe that's French for, as the bad buddy says. Winning. Victory? Sure, yeah. They win.
Starting point is 01:38:28 The women's hockey league thing. Say magnifie. That's French. I believe so. Spanish. May we. Look how happy Marie. Philippe Pallin is there.
Starting point is 01:38:37 She's the goat. What do they call her, Dean, nickname? The MVP is what she is. Poo. Is that what they call? Yeah. Because their name's Poulin. Poo.
Starting point is 01:38:49 They call Dave Poulin Poo? I don't remember that being the case. Who was the NFL player? Dave Poulin went to a bunch of Stanley Cups and couldn't win either. Feel for him. Think three. It's a funny thing. Like Dave Poulin was a hard-nosed captain of the Philadelphia Flyer.
Starting point is 01:39:06 Then he was front office in Toronto's like, who's the nerd? That's actually when you say that, I get that from Verbeek and Hextall too. You see them with their glasses on and they're six years. Those guys were, oh wow. Ron Hextall would kill a man. Literally with his bare hands. Pad Verbeek was one of the dirtiest bastards going. Who are these nerds?
Starting point is 01:39:28 Hey, you go to MIT, nerd? No, I beat up a thousand people in the NHL. Oh, sorry, my bad. I'll keep moving. Last night, Yankees, blue Jays, good match up of arms. Oh, interesting. We get Jay's highlights today. Don't get highlights.
Starting point is 01:39:45 That's interesting. Well, it is notable that Trayy Savage has faced the Yankees twice and is yet till I'll run. He was sensational. 19Ks and 11.1 over his career. Schlettler was very good as well. He ate more innings, got more outs. Did get in a jam, walked in, what turned out to be the first start of the game.
Starting point is 01:40:03 Jays have a chance to split today. Yankees can take three or four today. It'll be Fisher opening for the Jays today. And Carlos Rodon for the Yankees will revisit this in our bet, 365 bets later on today. Now, Jack. Road on high wick, rode on long. We got Aaron Rogers news, guys.
Starting point is 01:40:24 You got stop singing to let Jack start singing. Here it is. Thanks, Brooke. Aaron Rogers says, yes, this is last year. It's going out on top. Does that mean that he's in a time machine? He's back to last year? This is his last year.
Starting point is 01:40:41 This is his last year. Is 26 a repeat of 25? What is he saying? Jack, I know you understand it. This is last year. There's a lot of chatter out there that we're living in a simulation. There we are.
Starting point is 01:40:51 This is last year. Yeah. Yeah, this is last year. Or a typo for Brooke. I love you, Jack. Let's follow up, Brooke, because that wasn't clear. Pender, I'm shocked you haven't called her out on this old, bro. I already have twice.
Starting point is 01:41:05 Iard Rogers also says he thought he was done after Mike Tomlin walked away. But once Fat Mike was hired, Jack, it opened my mind back up and the ayahuasca. Not too. My mind. Open my mind back up. Or did he open his mind backup? Because he's got somewhere. Right.
Starting point is 01:41:28 You never know if there was a space there. But he still had to, oh, may come to Pittsburgh, but I'm not going to visit the stadium. I'm not going to visit the training. When he's still at his He's so fucking You know what? I can't get behind Jack I honestly
Starting point is 01:41:42 Jack your team Let's ride this year A, Raj You already did it though Do you have a Rogers jersey? No Let's go Yeah
Starting point is 01:41:51 You got it Don't waste your move See come on Let me get it Next year A year from today For nothing You know a quarterback
Starting point is 01:42:00 That you can really Get behind though Surrets boy Happy 30th birthday To Josh Allen his $232 million earned on the field to date. To date the most by a player before turning 30 in NFL history. And I'd give him a double if he wanted it.
Starting point is 01:42:23 He's the greatest. You had an extra $232 million a brand. And I'll say this. Gapspace. You know, you have to, oh, and what's he wanted this? Watson at 2 is more egregious. Oh, it really is. yuck, yuck, yuck, yuck, yuck, y'clock. And 100% guaranteed on Dishon.
Starting point is 01:42:38 Yeah. And shit human. Josh Allen, awful human. But 30 now, eh, Rhett? 30, married, got a kid? Well, if Rogers could still do it. Yeah, he's good. What does that mean? Jack, only 12 years left for Josh Allen? I guess. He'll be a great stealer in 2040. Will he make a billion dollars in his career?
Starting point is 01:43:01 No. I mean, not on the field, you could argue? you? I wonder. A lot of taxes in New York State, Ryan. Yeah, he's going to that's gone. Was he not Owen two banging the drum, though?
Starting point is 01:43:16 Who? Josh. Oh, the drum. For the same. It's not a see. Yeah. Not easy, apparently. We learned that. You telling us, Rob Ray. Yeah, I know. Very difficult. I mean, I didn't say it. Some people were saying it.
Starting point is 01:43:29 That's right. I would never do it. Nope. Not at all. Pittsburgh, Jack. What if you stayed in Pittsburgh, Jack? Here is your life. Here's what you're missing out on. You moved to Calgary and look at this. There's Jack.

Starting point is 01:44:01 I'll be next to go to a baseball game in the sports. What's your girlfriend's name, John? But I don't know why we're watching. I wish you went out and got drunk last night. We love baseball because you get a lot of these fan shots. There's so much time between plays, right? Stories. Great story.
Starting point is 01:44:16 Yeah. And sometimes things happen to the crowd that even the announcers out of loss of words. I go for one of them too. Well, it's it. What's that? We get the athletics here. What's in it? It looks down.
Starting point is 01:44:33 Texas Rangers. For the folks at home, I am on behalf of Chris Kerry, I will apologize. You are a handful, Chris. Let me tell you. That's our second chest grab of the baseball season, fellas, and it's still made. Unbelievable start to the year. Keep moving in Seattle. He's... And she knows.
Starting point is 01:45:07 coming. She's like, you're just going to get a great. Yeah. Couldn't wait for the parking lot. Hey, Jim. Let's go to Seattle. New trend sweeping baseball crowds. Started with the Mariners, apparently. Look at this. What the hell? This is Jack who's any of bunches. It starts out as like a dozen idiot jack buddies.
Starting point is 01:45:41 Continues to add, continues to add more idiot Jack buddies showing up. That is amazing. Until they have like multiple sections of idiot Jack buddies all going tarps off, T-shirt helicopters. Like it's the roughneck games. I can tell who would hit this its home with. Who would be right in the... Well, your kids would be right in the mix.
Starting point is 01:46:06 Jack is still in the pocket. There you are. Yeah. You're telling me that if you saw that, if you saw, this at a ball game. You're not getting up there, retro? I'm 50 years old. You gotta remember. He's about double your age. That is true.
Starting point is 01:46:23 I think you could get him up there. That's awesome. It's apparently a thing. Look at the size of this. CBSSports.com ran the story. So what does tarps off mean? That's like four sections full. The soaring imperative tarps off appears to be a mild corruption of tops off
Starting point is 01:46:41 in the world of sports fans. when they take their shirt off. It's usually a show of solidarity with one's team. It sounds like they're not yet discouraging tarps off. Yeah, you can see there's going to be some boundaries pushed at some point, but right now everything is shirt, shirt, those shoes. That's right. Is that no problem?
Starting point is 01:47:04 This is in Evanston. We have all kinds of scraps. It looks quite peaceful. Tarps off. Encouraged. Yeah. And finally, we go to pickleball guy. Now listen,
Starting point is 01:47:15 pickleball's kind of like a guilty little thing where it's like, yeah, it's kind of fun. I don't want to talk about it. But then some people think this is their claim to fame, Dean. And if you were taking pickleball this seriously,
Starting point is 01:47:25 Dean, you are the problem. Oh, whack, whack. You don't whack my brother. Dude, it's a terrible fighter.
Starting point is 01:47:43 Cacky shorts, golf shirt, pickleball fight. This is, oh, just a lot. Find the one where the guy kicks him in the face and knocks him the F out. Yeah, we did see that.
Starting point is 01:47:52 A couple of years ago. Wack. So I'm going to give you a piece of advice. If we're going to hit someone with that paddle, turn it sideways. It's going to help. It'll do more damage. I don't know who the instigator is, but Johnny Blue Shirt took one before they even got out. Like right at the start, he gets cracked. Right there. Now he's, now he's mad. Yeah. Let me go and swing and a miss. Okay. If I get up, boy, don't, you better not let me get back to my feet because If I do, I'm going to swing and miss again. Oh, that's soap to.
Starting point is 01:48:23 Athletes, eh? Yeah, that's a tough clip for a blue shirt. Tough for all of them, but especially old khaki short blue shirt golf guy. Jeez. He might be concussed right there. Oh, for Christ. Tough shirt covering from this. Gosh, there you balk your head and closing the corridor.
Starting point is 01:48:42 You cuss. Jack, don't believe in all that BS. It's all right. But in truly scary moments caught on camera. Yeah, that's horrifying. I hope I can get to sleep tonight. I think it's speaking about society as a whole, more than scary. Village Chonda, proud to be your dealership for life in Calgary since 1987,

If we want to get up early and we want to do a little doubles. Take some swings. Some doubles. Yeah. A little doubles action.
Starting point is 01:49:41 I got a couple of rackets. Oh, yeah. Rattle. Can you play, though? Oh, yeah. You've never heard you say once in a pickleball. I've never heard you say it either. I'll play all the time.
Starting point is 01:49:55 Is that a challenge? That is. He's calling you out there. Sure. Some of your own medicine there. Retra, how you're going to handle that? I saw how the poker night went.
Starting point is 01:50:03 Oh, or it cheated. Are you going to cheat a pickle ball? Probably. Yeah. Probably. Yeah. I'm going to have up the shoveler will be the line,
Starting point is 01:50:11 judge. She'll be. Settle down, Jack. I like Jack. If I could distract Jack with some of the... Jack was doing last. Pickle ball court. We got to do our picks.
Starting point is 01:50:26 We got a series starting tonight. The Eastern Conference final featuring the Carolina Hurricanes and the Montreal Canadians, Bet 365 hockey fans. You're tired of waiting for the end of the game to get paid. Ready to move on to the next puck drop. That's why Bet 365, official partner of the NHL has three goal early payout. The team you're riding goes up three goals at any point in the game. they'll pay your bet out early.
Starting point is 01:50:48 Hockey moves fast, and now with three goal early payout, there's one less thing to wait a round for. Bet 365, download the app, see what early payouts all about. Must be 19 or older. Please play responsibly.
Starting point is 01:51:00 Dean, you have the lead. You have 12 points through two rounds of selections. Who do you like between Montreal and Carolina? And then we'll get to these mixed track. I thought I went first last time. Yeah, you're still in the lead. Is it like golf where you want to, Head first.
Starting point is 01:51:17 Head first and golf? I have honors. You have honors. Or you can say screw it. Whoever's at last. He's trying to get at is the first of you. I know what my pick is. Okay.
Starting point is 01:51:27 And it is going to be a seven game series. No way. Oh. For the Montreal Canadians. Holy Montreal seven. Retro? Well, according to Gemini Flash, Ryan. Hmm.
Starting point is 01:51:47 We have a classic. unstoppable force meets an unyielding object matchup for the Eastern Conference finals. The odds makers heavily favor the Carolina hurricanes. What? Here's how the matchup breaks down. Oh my God, just tell me who wins.
Starting point is 01:52:02 You trust an AI? What am I at? Well, you played in the bloody league to trust your gut. I don't like what Dean's selling. I don't like what he's cooking. I don't like him. Carolina. And how many? Five.
Starting point is 01:52:19 I'm just trying to get Click Beatty for the Carolina Hurricane social media team. Yeah, you want to get famous again. Jackie, we got, I'm going to take Carolina 5 as well. Retska, Carolina 5. Dean's got Montreal and 7. Who are you taking? Carolina and 4. Woo!
Starting point is 01:52:38 Oh, sweet. Have you guys not watched any Montreal, Canadian hockey the last two rounds? If you thought they had a tough time getting to 10 shots against Tampa, wait until you see. How did they make out in that one? They got nine shots. I smell a bit of a from Freddie Anderson. Oh.
Starting point is 01:52:57 From here you could smell that. That was Dobish that scent was coming from. I'm way off. No, Dolbish has had, he's had some resiliency. He's had some things. He's got a,
Starting point is 01:53:05 geez, I got pulled, I've been bad, I've been good, he's got some ups and downs. It's been all smooth sailing. It's been team of destiny shouldn't for Montreal.
Starting point is 01:53:12 Why would it start? Adversity whatsoever for Carolina. Montreal's going to give me. Well, you're not as smart as AI, and AI is saying Carolina's suffocating depth elite defensive structure and
Starting point is 01:53:24 goal-tending stability make them the pick to win. They shut down Tuck. Shut down Thompson. This is a stupid. Kukh is a issue. If much I'll get the top line going that would help. Five on five.
Starting point is 01:53:41 It was a trade in Kooch. Oh really? That's right. That's cool. Yeah, that's right. In four, Jack? Yeah, in four. Sweet be, sweetly. Tell me more. 12 days off. They're fully rested.
Starting point is 01:53:53 12 days of Christmas. 12 days of Christmas. Fall a law. Marchers marching. Doing swimming. Relax. Swimming. Without goggles and flippers, I hope.
Starting point is 01:54:01 Just chilling. Yeah, that'd be the thing. Keep any of those videos away from. I don't know. They just seem unbeatable to me. And I'm not going to bet against them. Their fans are great. Hopefully Sebastian Ajo doesn't take a dip in the next five or six days.
Starting point is 01:54:17 Jack's got the option of changing his bit. Yeah. That's right. Move off. I probably should do that again. That should be an option. If you're, if the team that you're riding is in the lead, and you want to bail on them for some reason.
Starting point is 01:54:31 Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's why we allowed it. Yeah. That is cooked into the standings. We allowed him to move off Colorado in five so he could take Minnesota and seven, only to watch that night, Colorado win it in five. So close. Would I be in first?
Starting point is 01:54:45 Was it right after like, yes. Yes, it was like that day or the next day. Jack would be in Minnesota. tied for the lead. Because he was swimming in Minnesota. They had a 3-1 lead and you bailed? Yes. Yes.
Starting point is 01:54:59 Or was it 2-1? It might have been after game 3. I wonder if it- Jack Scott is. It was after game 3. Within 72 hours, it was exactly what you predict. Yeah. Yep.
Starting point is 01:55:09 But wild wish you had. You've got your morals. Good stuff. Wagers tonight. Yeah. A quick ones for you because we did well yesterday. We hit the baseball and the hockey yesterday. Not a ton of two.
Starting point is 01:55:21 for two days lately, so we'll celebrate it when it happens. I will stick with the baseball. Vladdy likes hitting against Carlos Rodon. He's 10 for 17 in his career. Dino, that's better than 500. You got to like that. 21 play appearances. We're going to hit them for three total bases or more. Got to get a couple hits.
Starting point is 01:55:43 One of them's got to be extra bases or maybe you just hit one out of the yard. Let's go get it, Vladi. Loves facing Rodon. We'll see if that continues tonight. And the guys have been putting up points in most. consistently for these two teams playing tonight. Montreal Carolina. Lane Hudson, a point, five straight games, Taylor Hall points
Starting point is 01:55:57 for the last five. They both get a point tonight, parleyed together, plus 170. It does have the feel for our bet three, six five segment, just in general, with what we've seen Carolina do and all of that. The point, going for chasing points, might be tough.
Starting point is 01:56:13 If they're unders. It's like you said that they gave up five goals in a series, if they can, that would be my only, I don't mind. this. Those are two guys for sure. I've thought about it and it's like if they're getting points, how is it happening? Montreal special teams have been unbelievable and it's
Starting point is 01:56:29 Lane Hudson touching it everywhere. So it's a scary one because they're so low event. But Hudson's been all around it last series or two. What are you got? Because as soon as you started, Rhett went to his bet three, six five app and you're on it right now and you just said
Starting point is 01:56:45 Well, I do recall us being idiots. Us? No. We didn't take Buffalo after Montreal had to go to a game seven before. Remember that? Game one, yeah. Game one. Game one feels like Montreal looked exhausted
Starting point is 01:57:01 and game one. It looked out of sorts. Yeah, so I feel like Carolina's going to crank it up on them early today. I'm getting the baseball bug. The blue jays, those powder blues. Boy, they look sharp. That is good color. In Yankee Stadium?
Starting point is 01:57:16 Yeah. Hell yeah. I can place that. But you have the money line or what are you doing there? Plus one of the house. Yeah, okay, run line, sure. Yeah. Nice. Lots of options out there on bet 365.
Starting point is 01:57:29 Get in there, Dino. Download the app. See what early payouts all about. Must be 19 or older. Please play responsibly. Here you see it. A little hoops there. How's the hoops been going, Jan?
Starting point is 01:57:40 It's actually been somewhat entertaining. MVP. I got screwed. I got back last night. What happened? I had a parlay going. and um how many legs like eight
Starting point is 01:57:52 but i think it would a hit but there's some weird stuff going on in the NBA this guy got hurt Dylan Harper in the third quarter and the good thing about bet three six five if you get hurt in the first half they'll avoid it avoid it third quarter he goes out the hammy
Starting point is 01:58:08 goes to the locker room and he's like running back onto the court to come on and the someone just stops him like nope you're done back to locker back to locker see yeah unbelievable. Every other leg hit. Sorry, Jack.
Starting point is 01:58:22 That's terrible. If only you've done a seven-legger, hey? I think that was actually somebody from Bet365. Sorry, we can't let you play. You're going to have to go back to the room. Jack's got this multi-leg parlay. We cannot have it cash. It's a $2 bet.
Starting point is 01:58:36 We can't afford to do it. 26 bucks here. Can't do it. It was like $5,000, and we had like six guys tailing it. It was devastating. You're one of my favorite humans, bar none. Do you remember two years ago? He was like dominating football picks.
Starting point is 01:58:53 You're like, wow, Jack's like, yeah. Must have a great end of, oh, no, we only did 13, like three, two and a half or more field goals in the game. Field goals. Field goals. Oh, you did really well at football picks, but you didn't bet. You didn't have those picks? No, no, no, we had some 28, like, probably like, yeah. That's the way she goes.
Starting point is 01:59:15 If there's a missed kick in every game. on Sunday. Yeah. We're going to win a trillion dollars. We're going to own an island. One day. One day. We go to the super chat.
Starting point is 01:59:28 Money from you find folk that are watching live that you donate. We'll go to the U-Sendos of Calgary, and we're going to talk about you. You're going to put your comments on the show. See what we got today. R.B. is in 1399. We talked about yesterday. Could Daryl Sutter be a guy?
Starting point is 01:59:44 Could be an option for the oilers? Daryl cannot go to the oil or greasers. It would be an abomination. Conroy should move. up in the draft if possible. Flames need a generational talent and don't have one but have lots of draft picks. What if there's no generational talents in the draft? Yeah. And what if no team wants to trade down? People like to use the word generational when they forget their every generation. There's no celebrini's here, friends. Let's make a good pick. Could you have more than one generational?
Starting point is 02:00:13 It's, uh, how does that work? The flames don't. No, other teams do like Tensberg. Oilers. Yeah. I would say you had what, like Bobby Orr leads you into like your Wayne leads you into your Mario, Mario to Sid. But Mario and Wayne played at the same time. They overlap. So that would be my instance of like, okay, like maybe Mario didn't win a cup until the early 90s. Wayne had a decade before that. But yeah, those are two generational guys. Yeah. It's Patrick Waugh generation. I don't think he's the best goalie ever. So I'm with noodles. I like Hasick. So if you're the top three ever, you're not generation. I guess it's just how nerdy are we getting on the word generational?
Starting point is 02:00:54 Because if you're going to tell me Patrick Wall was a better player than Mario or Wayne, I'm just saying no. Was he the best goalie of that generation? Yes. Who won more cups? I mean, did law get two? Four. Four? Four?
Starting point is 02:01:12 Two in Montreal and two of Colorado. Was he there in 86? Mm-hmm. As the rookie. That was his rookie one. Oh, yeah. Okay. that's all right
Starting point is 02:01:22 two in Colorado holy he's shit RB back in Vegas for the cup Carter Hart wins the con smith If they're going to win the cup He's going to get some votes
Starting point is 02:01:33 I'll say that Yep that's maybe a nice little Oh Zip RB's feeling it Ken is in with 10 bucks Phyllis No
Starting point is 02:01:46 Is it worth moving up considering what the cost will be Are the flames at the point where extreme measures need to be done? I guess I'm asking, do the end justify the means? Not from our perspective, but if they think that Stenberg
Starting point is 02:02:00 is a cut above, whoever they're going to get at 6, and you've got to move some picks around to go get Stenberg at 4? Okay, sure, but I just, that doesn't seem to be most people's read on this draft class. What if Chek is like, this picks available? I did the math yesterday
Starting point is 02:02:18 to move up if you want to use the puckpedia tool. Oh yeah. First overall, both firsts, all your seconds, and probably that first pick of the third round. To go to one. I'd do it to go to one. It's probably your first this year and next year. Right?
Starting point is 02:02:37 Because it's not a first one, but it's the first overall. Correct. So, and I think it's sweet that you're using Puckpedia's. Well, you should look at the tool. It's kind of cool because it's a guy that used to work in a front office, and there's a better explanation than what I've proved. I know. It's all I'll say.
Starting point is 02:02:53 But basically they said if you used all of the flames, first and seconds, and that early third, like we're talking about how many picks there? Seven. That still doesn't get up to the same value as one overall. So they would want more. And to your point,
Starting point is 02:03:06 yeah, be future first. Danny, I always want to take less than these numbers. Sure. If historically the cost of a first overall or top three pick has gone up or down, then...
Starting point is 02:03:19 I don't know. It's just... I think people view a top 10 pick as it... Oh, like 9 and 2 or this or that... Like, the gap between the value of pick 1 and 4 might be bigger than the difference between 10 and 25. You know what I mean? Like, one overalls, a lot of times it's a superstar.
Starting point is 02:03:38 You can have role players in the top 10. We just talked about Mani Mulcher. Almost 1,000 games. Bottom 6. Forward, right? Kenny, I feel you. I feel you. I know,
Starting point is 02:03:51 I feel you. I think this is the year to just be happy at six. Rett said it a lot. You're going to get a good player. See who falls to you. You're not one player away. No.
Starting point is 02:04:01 No. Giving up all those other picks, you might lose out on three players. Totally. Yep. Especially when you see them mind gridden at pick 27 or 29 or whatever it was with the Canucks. Like that's kind of where the biggest pick's going to be.
Starting point is 02:04:17 Definitely not Craig, $699. Scenario. It's 28, 29, drafted between 5 and 8 the last two drafts. Organization has 55 second and third liners, but strong puck moving back end. What's left to be a contender? You need your star.
Starting point is 02:04:40 I will say when you watch Carolina, that might be the template to win a cup without a superstar. They haven't won a cup. Right, but, I mean, we're watching them. To be a perennial player. Can you imagine them winning? a cup this year? Yep.
Starting point is 02:04:54 Yeah. And so how have they done it? Great depth, an identity, great structure, great coaching, goal-tending, depth, depth, depth. That's not really the... 55 second and third liners is a lot. It feels like too many. In fact, I'm told you only have 50 contracts.
Starting point is 02:05:13 Yeah. So I don't even know how you're going to squeeze those guys in. Because when we talk about top nine players, like that's nine. Never mind the other 46 or whatever. I mean, you've got so many other guys trying to get in there, unless you just rotate them through. That's kind of, if you wanted to pick apart Carolina,
Starting point is 02:05:32 but yeah, they're lacking a superstar. They've got a lot of guys that you'd feel real happy on your second line. 1.50, I think, has a massive thing to do with our belief in Carolina right now, too. 1.50? The goal tend. Oh, for sure. No, they have one got out of the first round seven years in a row, but they don't have the ring to your point.
Starting point is 02:05:53 Right? Like, I'm, Carolina's boring sure. They always are competitive and good. Yes. Weston, yeah,
Starting point is 02:06:03 like that's kind of why I took Montreal. Is you've seen Dolbush bounce back already. There's been a lot up and downs. What's Freddie Anderson? He's great till he's not and or great till he's hurt. All these goals. But the injury thing is the big difference. But with Frith Anderson, that's,
Starting point is 02:06:20 if you were to ask NHL people, give me the. Hurt bag. Cole's notes on Anderson. Good goalie, big, does get hurt a lot. Yep.
Starting point is 02:06:29 Now, maybe he doesn't, and this is the one year, it's like, finally, good for him, he's able to show what he's capable of doing. They made life easy on him,
Starting point is 02:06:38 low number of games played, and finally he was able to. Well, if you want Vegas on a win, hard, to win the cup, it's heart, right? For a cons,
Starting point is 02:06:49 it's going to be the same thing for Carolina, huh? Yeah. They've had really good performances. They ain't coping. Squaltending. Correct.
Starting point is 02:07:04 Is that a gentleman? Big bear. Oh, big bear. Worried Daryl would say yes to the Oilers. Still don't forgive him for that Johnson Steyos trade. Johnson Steyos. But don't see the glitter twins handling him well. Glitter twins.
Starting point is 02:07:19 I could see Daryl go in there. I could too. I think it would be a fit in terms of who he is and what they're looking for. I have no idea where Daryl's appetite is to get back. That's not what we're talking about. So, but we're all in agreement. It's perfect, stylistic fit.
Starting point is 02:07:39 It's like start holding these guys accountable. A couple tweaks to the D zone and say everyone's got a roll here. Yeah, like I will say that. If you're a flames fan, you're thinking, but Daryl was with the flames for how could he do? He could absolutely do it. 100% do it. There's, you won two cups with the division. We beat San Jose after he got fired from San Jose.
Starting point is 02:07:55 He was quite happy. He was very happy. He wasn't upset about that. He wasn't broken up, eh? Yeah. Yeah. But he was just with the sharks. I know.
Starting point is 02:08:04 I know he was. How do things end here? God, well. He was almost a coup. He told him to go away. Okay. There's a bit of a coup. Sorry, Big Bear.
Starting point is 02:08:15 As for the glitter twins, I don't know how they would handle. Fellas! While you're at Bontan, filling up a potato salad and meat pies, grab yourself a flat or two of eggs. The best I've had and are easy to miss. Druncle stew,
Starting point is 02:08:27 it went through my mind this morning, because we need eggs. and they've got the trays You can get the brown And the farm fresh eggs Yeah The brown They're the brown eggs
Starting point is 02:08:36 I don't know Special type But I don't know Well you can buy brown eggs anywhere But I think you should go to Ponton and get the Tricor Do you know Jack
Starting point is 02:08:47 What kind of chickens firing out The brown as opposed to the white eggs I've actually wondered that I have no idea Don't be racist I'm not Is there different races of chicken deal I don't know

He's got a couple of things in the holster there. We'll be the same. It's determined by the genetics of the breed and of the head. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:09:36 RB's back. RB, a 699. Fellas, we need this team re-biggle the right way, whether through moving up through the draft, making a qualifying offer or a bold trade, con-efinance. Yeah, all the above. The hardest thing.
Starting point is 02:09:52 And I'm not saying to draw. The hardest thing is patience. Yeah. When one thing starts to turn us the point, this goalie could be really good. Okay, well, we got her. Good guy. Patience.
Starting point is 02:10:02 This project really took some strides. Maybe. Dorfam. Just no offer sheets. Don't give up picks to move. Don't give up three picks to move up two spots. It's a good. Asset management.
Starting point is 02:10:14 That's the game you're playing right now. I can't let Coleman go. He's too good on that. Patience. Maybe not some patient there. Moving. Come on now. If you've got conifference,
Starting point is 02:10:24 then you need to truly have conifidence. And to his point. I do believe they will try to move up over some ledges here or there. I think they will absolutely try to move picks to get young players heading into the prime and match the age game and they will use the picks to select players. They've got enough of picks the next three years. They'll do all kinds of things with these picks. Brett is just car.
Starting point is 02:10:46 R.B. If they get Verhof or Carols. Carl's, yeah. And the Ruck twins? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Because who knows?
Starting point is 02:11:04 How do you know? Get the boys in there. You got room for 55 second and third liners. There's a little few in that, but yeah. Then you got develop them. Let's go. You put Bash in those twins together and with the Wranglers, let them cook.
Starting point is 02:11:18 Shit, yeah. Yeah, but then that Sutter and Lippetton or coach, they're not going to develop that. Brett. Brett. Couldn't end the show without one more shot. Why don't they like me? I don't know.
